Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

The Popular Press is lined up outside the tuxedo rental places here in Your Nation's Capital, to get ready for what they all assume will be the Coronation of Sen. Barack Obama as the Nominee for President of the Democratic Party after the primaries in Kentucky and Oregon.

The endorsement of John Edwards yesterday, one assumes, also brings his eleven delegates with him. That would put Obama, according to CNN's count, at 1,910 delegates only 115 short of the 2,025 to have a majority.

Kentucky (60 delegates) and Oregon (65 delegates) will hold their primaries on Tuesday. Assuming Obama and Clinton split them about evenly, that will give Obama 62-or-so more delegates meaning he will be only about 53 delegates shy of the magic number which the Popular Press will cede to him because he will need less than half of the 110 delegates left to be chosen in the final three primaries on June 1 (Puerto Rico) and June 3 (Montana and South Dakota).

Drat.

I really, REALLY, wanted the Democrats to have floor fights over every semicolon in the platform, every credential issued to every staff member, every seat assigned to every alternate, and every speaking position in the convention program.

Meanwhile on the campaign trail …

President Bush, speaking to the Israeli Knesset warned against trying to appease an enemy:

"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."

While that generated applause among the members of the Israeli parliament, the Obama campaign, showing a thickness of skin which can be measured in angstroms, wailed that Bush was accusing Obama of favoring appeasement in dealing with Israel's enemies.

How Barack decided that the President was talking about him, still mystifies me.

Associated Press reporter, Liz Sidoti, reminded us that Obama might be just a little sensitive to the appeaser tag, thus:

The first-term Illinois senator responded to the comments as if they were criticism of his position [as stated in one of the 2,347 debates] that as president he would be willing to personally meet with Iran's leaders and those of other regimes the United States has deemed rogue.

I was on ABC News yesterday afternoon with Sam Donaldson and, after watching a clip of the President's remarks, I said that I assumed the President was talking about Jimmy Carter.

New Topic: Mississippi

There is no way to put a positive spin on the loss of Sen. Roger Wicker's (R-Miss) House seat in a special election this past Tuesday.

According to the Washington Post's Chris Cillizza, Wicker "had held the district easily since 1994 -- never winning reelection with less than 63 percent of the vote."

This was the third special election the GOP has lost in Districts which had been held by Republicans.

I ran into the brilliant national political reporter for USA Today, Susan Page, yesterday and she asked if this was a "wake up call" for the House Republican Leadership." I was cranky and I said, "A wake up call is one thing. After you are awakened, you have to have some idea of what you're supposed to be doing that day."

As I am certain we were off the record, I am not concerned that I will be deemed disloyal, to use the AP construct.

Quote of the Day:

Following the announcement that the California Supreme Court ruled that Gay Marriage was legal in that state, the San Jose Mercury News had this quote on its website:

"I was blown away," said Merrie Schaller, co-chair of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Alliance of Santa Cruz."

I … I can't top that.

Well...
Personally I think John Boy Edwards is positioning himself for the number two slot. I also believe Mr. Obama will look at Edwards as the pinch hitter who went down on called strikes the last time the team needed a hit. Little Johnny's edorsment does nothing but thumb a nose at The Clintons.

As to Bush's speech, just why shouldn't Obama think he was being singled out. I see nothing wrong with that at all, it is a position the man clearly stated would be his policy so why shouldn't it come under criticism. When you tell people you are going to do a thing you should expect them to believe that is what you intend to do.

Wicker's lose is a lose for the people of Mississippi, but I think it is indicative of what will be a nation wide trend until this healing process is done.

California Supreme Court, oh yeah, the nuts are falling from the trees, the fruit is in full bloom and it's mating season for the cuckoos.

On conflating the two.
Regarding Galen's conjecture of Obama's response to the Bush speech before the Israeli Knesset where Bush assailed appeasement to terrorism, one might legitimately inquire...terrorism directed against whom?

Now, last time I checked G.W. Bush was president of the United States, not Prime Minister of Israel.

Perhaps Bush got confused, and thought he was on the floor of the United States Senate.

If he is so concerned with the fate of Israel, perhaps he ought to renounce his U.S. citizenship and run for office there.

Does Bush even make a distinction between Israel and the United States?

If he does not, a growing number of Muslims do not either.

If he makes no distinction, then presumably the national security interests of Israel are identical with those of the United States, in Bush's brain anyway.

Therefore, U.S. soldiers arguably would shed their blood for Israel as well as for our Beloved Republic.

Is this what Americans want?

I happen to greatly admire Israel.

But with weaponry she purchases from us, she is more than able to defend her own interests.

And only a fool would argue that our support for Israel has not come with a steep, and becoming ever steeper, price..namely hostility in the Muslim world, a part of the world vital to the interests of our Beloved Republic.

And for those who have had the dubious pleasure of reading my postings in the past, I am NO fan of Islam.

And while I admire Israel, the interests of my Beloved Republic must always trump my admirations for other nations and peoples.

Political Neurosis
I cannot believe that the press and Obama immediately think that Bush was speaking of him. The comments that he made could have applied to Carter, Mrs. Clinton, and George Bush himself at times.

This is typical response from a person that would be considered a narcissist- that if someone is speaking, it must be about them. My first thought was Neville Chamberlain, but go figure that the liberal bias press would immediately default to Bush slighting Obama. American media has shown their hand and unveiling how much they are "in the tank" for Barack.

Opinion Alert!
Attention1

Large quantities of unauthorized opinion has been detected in this area.

The expression of opinion as it relates to His Obamaship has previously been decreed to be racist and therefore is prohibited.

Cease and desist! Disperse and return to your little homes! Move along, now, nothing to see here! Remain calm, all is well!

All hail the Obama!

Your Obedient Servant,

George Washington

Dear Jerabaub

You will have Archie Bunker turning in his casket, while Obama will lovingly welcome you into his Beloved Republic, where he now expects to welcome racketeers and radical madmen to the Lincoln bedroom.

Didn't you realize Obama is fair game? The only thing I fault W for is weaseling. Why does he try to deny he's referring to the Cut and Run candidate of the Left. He ought to say it plain: Appeasers like Obama and the Democrat pedagogues in Congress do not "LOVE" any Republic. They love lying to the American voter. Archie Bunker once wanted to sue an A-rab; and he would hire a "good Jew lawyer;" --saying,

When you want to sue "them guys" get a lawyer with plenty of hate.

You have a lot to learn, Jer.

In response to the headline:
No, we don't want a coronation...we've had eight years with a president who thought he was coronated.

Been there, done that.

dear illiteratebabe
You do not "coronate" you "crown"

Our President was elected and then re-elected; --I hope you didn't "object ?"

You can *coronate*
But Mr. Obama is just a little thin-skinned and unready for prime time.

Just think of the abuse Bush takes on TH daily without throwing a fit, demanding a bill to shut down the site, and wailing that he's being attacked by honkyism.

I think the best thing about Obama's candidacy is going to be the retirement of *racism* and other name calling the left has perfected as excuses for real arguments or facts. It is not going to be possible for even the powerful US MSM to impose censoreship on the entire nation when it comes to people disagreeing with Obama because he happens to be black.

Hey, he said he was *post racial.* let's see some post-racialness and see what it looks like.

Arrogant Whiner
Obama presumed the president was talking about him because Obama is self-centered and arrogant.
I doubt that the president gave the jr. senator any thought at all.

Renny is right. Obama is a thin skinned whiner. I hope America wakens quickly and does not allow him to whine his way to the White House.

Please R . G .
Don't even try to top that statement . The cuckoos in CA. are the reason I canceled my Cable T.V. . My Mom always said if you put
queers and steers in the same place , something weird is going to happen .

Coronation
We might as well get used to the "thin skinned" left as shown whenever their patriotism is challenged. They hate this country and everything it stands for and know very well that BHO can only win the WH if his lack of experience and bad judgement can be hidden from the rational voters. Seems to me the MSM pundits like Chris Matthews are angling for a job with the BHO Admin, probably a good idea since their viewership has been shrinking nightly.

When you throw a rock
into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one that got hit.

Instead of being smart enough to lie low and let others make the connection, if one was to be made (personally I thought about Carter, too) I would have lay low and had others make this *connection* and then loftily refuted it. That would have given me Rising Above Racism points instead of turning me into a whining candidate for Homeroom President of Grade 8.

But what do I know. I am White which means according to the Black government of Atlanta that I was born a Racist and there is not a thing I can do about it.

mccain gave a speeh, I swear he did
anyone out there remember that Mccain gave a speech last week, one that even he labeled as major. it was his "Impossible Dream" or "Wouldnt it be Loverly" speech. illl bet hes doing his best to forget it also. anyone remember Bushs diatribel and Obamas reply. Of course you do, and therin lies the answer as to who will win come November. As long as Obama can keep runnign against Bush hes a shoo in, and it looks like Bush is too dumb to let Mcain have a little free air time to get his mesage oput, maybe someone should remind Bush thatb there is a two term limit and that hes had his. he forfwets easy. remember Golf. Golf Golf.

Coronation
This is a wonderful observation. I think even the Clintons would agree. The media has chosen and they are in control. What is most frustrating is the position the Obama camp will take...any criticism is racism.
Can you have this made into a bumper sticker?
