Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

On Wednesday night, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama participated in their final debate before Tuesday's primary in Pennsylvania.

The prevailing theory is that Clinton was trying, in the wake of Obama's "bitter" comment, to demonstrate to the super delegates that he is unelectable in November and, so, they should support her at the Democratic National Convention in August.

According to Clinton's home-town paper, the New York Times, it didn't work.

Reporter Patrick Healy writes in today's paper that the Times interviewed "a cross-section of a cross-section of these super delegates - Members of Congress, elected officials and party leaders."

The result? "Most of the super delegates said they wanted to wait for the results of at least the next major primaries - in Pennsylvania on Tuesday and Indiana and North Carolina two weeks later - before choosing a candidate."

On Super Tuesday, February 5, it was inconceivable that this would go beyond the date of the Texas and Ohio primaries a month later - March 4.

When Clinton won three out of the four contests that night, senior Democrats were horrified as they considered the six long weeks before the next major event - Pennsylvania.

There was a flurry of activity (in what would have been smoke-filled rooms if indoor smoking were still a part of our culture) way back then, to try and come up with some mechanism to have the super delegates choose up sides.

The idea was - and is - to get the number of super and the number of elected delegates above the current magic number of 2,025 which would be the majority and, thus, declare a nominee.

That, of course, presumes, that neither Michigan nor Florida has their delegations seated, but that is a discussion for another day.

Senior Dems are putting on a brave smile saying the continuing excitement attached to this electoral death march is good for their party.

But, DNC chairman Howard Dean was on CNN yesterday whining about a process which is sapping the strength of the party faithful. Calling on the supers to pick a side, Dean told Wolf Blitzer:

"We cannot give up two or three months of active campaigning and healing time. We've got to know who our nominee is."

Whoa. Check please! "Healing time?" If this is such a good party-builder what is Dean talking about? Who has to heal? And from what?

Obviously, every day this goes on is one less day Hillary or Barack get to run against McCain and is one MORE day when the lines harden between their supporters.

Further, I continue to get questions from reporters wondering whether this attention on Obama/Hillary is damaging Sen. John McCain's ability to generate news.

Here's the answer: McCain gets to make news whenever, and where ever he wants. News organizations HAVE to cover McCain when his is on the campaign trail because he is the GOP nominee.

McCain went to Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for major economic addresses this week and the press corps dutifully followed to report on them.

Not only that, but if Hillary or Obama had much to say about that speech, it was lost in the tsk-tsk-tsking over whether Obama is more elitist than a woman who has been driven around in limousines by state troopers and Secret Service agents for, maybe, decades.

McCain looking Presidential and looking forward; Hillary and Barack sniping at each other and looking small. Does it matter?

Associated Press has a new poll which provides the answer. McCain has a slight general election edge over either Clinton or Obama. According to the analysis by Alan Fram and Trevor Tomson:

"The survey suggests that those switching to McCain are largely attuned to his personal qualities and McCain may be benefiting as the two Democrats snipe at each other during their prolonged nomination fight."

Isn't that what I've been telling you?

As much as it pains me to write this, Howard Dean is right. There will not be enough time for the Democratic Party to heal its self-inflicted wounds.

Shhh!
Don't say this stuff out loud!

As dems are busy registering every SC black over 18 to vote for obama in their primary, you can bet that hillary's people are double-sweating PA.

Let 'em gripe and whine! They are showing the whole country exactly what sort of Presidential behavior we can expect from either one. (shudder)

Independent Candidate???
Should we support (monetarily, not by voting!!!) an independant candidacy by the loser??? Just a thought 8>) (LOL)

Great Candidates
Hillary "The Habitual Liar" Clinton against Barack "The Unamerican Commie Afro-centric" Obama. Choices that make all Dems proud.

Primaries
Are broken on both sides but for different reasons. We really need to fix the entire process or continue to be forced into the lesser of two evil choices.

On the GOP side we somehow got the most hated "Republican" as our nominee because of how broken the current system is.

For the DNC the primary system shows the basic flaw in the entire liberal argument. That every body is always equal and there are no real winners... but leave it to us Elites to make the real decisions because you do not know any better.

I doubt things will change though as we have entrenched people on both sides fully envested in the current corrupt system.

Wait Until the General
Once the nomination is settled and focus shifts to McCain/Obama, watch the polls shift. McCain and Obama are tied head to head or leaning either way in the national polls. Between the numbers of Democratic voters who have registered (a tidlewave) and Republican voter apathy for McCain (as in - they don't like him) Obama will win easily in November. Senator McCain is an honorable man and great American but offers nothing but four more years of George Bush as it relates to foreign policy and the economy and Americans are tired of the complete and utter catastrophe that is this administration.

another hit

did obama just made a dirty finger for hillary caught on this video?? watch after he says
"Clinton was in her element..."

Identity Politics
It is such great fun watching Identity Politics savage itself.

Ya gotta luvit!

I would really be worried...
that the TH pundits might get it right this time. But I can take solace in the fact that the posters here are the same ones who just knew that "Red Nanny Pelosivich" would not become Speaker of the House and that both houses would remain in the hands of the GOP. And now you again convince yourselves that McCain will win, when most posters didn't even project - or desire - him as the winner of the Republican primary.

Both Dem. candidates
are leftover 19th C. socialists spouting post-WW I pacifism and 1930s' economics.

Neither knows or cares about Am. military capacity or the war on terror. Neither has an iota of interest in being commander in chief except to cut the military and leave us more open to terrorist depredations.

McCain was not my first choice, but he has never had an earmark, never voted for a tax raise, will send bloated bills back to Cong. (something even Reps. are afraid of), will be the fitst pres. in some time who actually served with honor and will govern with honor.

The Dems. have shot itself in the head by developing years of pandering to greedy special interests based on race and gender. The divisions in those interests are showing up in the current primaries.

McCain attracted independents and Dems. in the primaries in states where people could vote across party lines and the truth is today maybe 40% of the electorate label themselves independents. Some think up to 20% of each Dem. candidate's supporters will not vote for the rival when the choice is fimally made.

I think it's delicious. You can pass the popcorn. On the other hand, if you don't want a 19th C. socialist in the Oval Office in 2009, the rNC could use donations and McCain, also.

"To All Democrats
All you democrats have worked so dam hard for your candidate and you have to know that whoever wins the democratic nomination will win the general election. How are you going to act if your guy or gal loses? I can only imagine the agony of seeing all that work go down the drain."

If they lose, we'll hear the same old "this election was rigged", "voters were disenfranchised", "we need a recount" whining like they do every time they lose. Then we'll have to break out the baby bottles and pacifiers to calm them down.

The Dream Scenario
Would be for Senator Obama to win the popular and electoral votes from the primaries and then have Senator Clinton get enough of the super-delegate votes to win the nomination. That might (but I doubt it) break the devotion of the black community to the Democratic Party.

Phase two of the scenario is for McCain to appoint a small government, anti-abortion, anti-illegal alien fiscal conservative as his running mate and then become too ill to serve as president shortly after election day. So far, everything is going according to plan...

YOU CALL IT A DEBATE???
As usual and as Barak has proved, we are being taken for fools: no questions about immigration, about reparations, about southern (promissed) fence - no real questions about problems nurturing real Americans.
What a circus!

It's bad enough
that nasty old Republicans steal elections from Dems; now they're going to have to steal from themselves. What fun!

The Hits Just Keep On Comin'
I think all of this points to the fact that liberals cannot stand to be scrutinized. Their attitude is, "How dare you pick me apart. Don't you know that I'm gifted to govern without question?"

I hope Hillary finds a way to rob Obama of the nomination. The far left wing of the party would be exposed and destroyed. Then maybe those in the party that love the USA could pick up the pieces and find common sense solutions to the problems we face.

thinker
Hate to bust your bubble, but you're not thinking at all. "As usual and as Barak has proved, we are being taken for fools:"

Barack is the REASON you are fools to be taken. Issues? 21 Debates and he still can't get his message across? 15+ months and he still can't itemize these changes more than mere generalized, utopian agenda rhetoric?

You really want Obama? Philly had a mayor just like him. Smooth talked his way in after Rendell. Redell had the economy pumped. Crime was low. Street came in and in 4 yrs bankrupted the city. Was re-elected by inciting racial tension, you may remember the infamous..."the brothers and sisters are runnin' things now" remark. A remark from a racial 'uniter.' The next 4 yrs crime increased to at least 1 murder a day. If Street did that to a city, what could Obama do to the country?

I had the pleasure of watching Streets utopia unfold from the outside. Philly is BEGGING the rest of PA to bail it out, but the majority said to h&ll with them. They made their bed, now lay in it. Not quite the utopia promised.

my 2 cents
The vaunted 'Republican hate machine' of song and story and the equally feared 'vast right-wing conspiracy' have NOTHING on these two as they continue to slash away at each other towards what is looking like an increasingly Pyrrhic victory.

All we have to do, all we CAN do, is watch.

Hopefully from this someday the democratic party will produce some actual certified grown-ups who do not cause involuntary stomach-turning to the general populace, because we DO need a viable democratic party.

two more cents
if hillary wins it the blacks in the dp will be angry. If bo wins the women in the dp will be angry.

Does the name 'Condeleeza Rice' ring a bell?

Presidential Election 2008
On October 2, 2002, Barack Obama’s judgment told him that starting a war in Iraq would be a big mistake and he forcefully said so. Much to the contrary later that same month both Senators Hillary Clinton and John McCain voted for funds authorizing President Bush to begin the Iraq war.
When Barack Obama decided to run for president, unlike Hillary Clinton and John McCain, he made the significant decision that he would not accept campaign contributions from lobbyists, special interests, and political action committees for his presidential campaign. It was Barack Obama’s judgment that it would be preferable if the next President of the United States was elected without being beholden to money peddlers in Washington.

Suppose Barack Obama becomes the Democratic nominee for president at the Democratic National Convention in August, and suppose in the November general election the majority of Americans decide to vote for Barack Obama, the presidential candidate who among many other things has refused to accept campaign contributions from special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists but has financed his campaign solely from the contributions of people to whom he is accountable. (Cont.)

Presidential Election 2008
Furthermore, suppose this idea of raising money for political campaigns directly from the voters to whom the candidate is accountable sits so well with the American people that they come to expect that future presidential candidates as well as candidates for other offices such for the US Senate and House of Representatives will do as Barack Obama has done. What if candidates who continue to accept campaign contributions from special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists find it increasingly difficult to get elected? Would that help or hurt democracy in America?

That’s the kind of change that Barack Obama represents which concerns so many in Washington who don’t seem very eager for the American people to reclaim their democracy from the influence of special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists, the Washington money peddlers who currently arrange to provide huge amounts of financial support to political candidates whom they believe have a good chance of winning, and whom they can then “work with” later on.
This election is not about whether you happen to be a woman or a man, or whether your father was a black man or a white man, an Asian or a Hispanic. This election is about the future of our country. (Cont.)

Presidential Election 2008
We are at a historic moment in America. Barack Obama is a very special candidate for president who can bring about significant changes in Washington and help ordinary Americans begin reclaiming their democracy.
Both the Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, and Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey Jr. know this and have recently endorsed Senator Barack Obama, recognizing Obama’s integrity, intelligence, and the strong leadership he can provide as president.
It is time for voters in Pennsylvania and in all of the other states soon to vote in presidential primary elections to stand up and be counted. It’s time for ordinary Americans to begin the process of reclaiming American democracy by voting for Barack Obama.

..and we can all live happily ever after
...in the U.S.S.A. (United Socialist States of America)!

No thanks, refatsew!

...that is, until
...we're all blown to smithereens by our enemies after our military is disarmed, disbanded and neutered, and Obama's "talks" with our sworn ememies prove, surprisingly, to be unsuccessful...

Obama may not accept money from "special interests," but he does accept contributions from corporate executives (it's illegal to take contributions for corporations themselves).

And he hangs with thieves and America-haters--or at least "can't disown" them.

And, so far, he hasn't shown much in the way of intelligence, e.g., even if raising capital gains tax rates means a DEcrease in capital gains tax receipts to the government, he'll raise the tax, just in the name of "fairness." What IS that about?!! THAT can't even sound intelligent to the thousands of middle-class stock owners who make capital gains--on which they pay taxes--when they sell their stock.

The Capital Gains Tax Rate
should be permanently set at zero. Capital investment runs our economy. It is foolish to tax capital gains for any reason, (including "fairness") because that discourages investment and encourages those with capital to invest overseas. That shrinks the economy, reduces production, costs jobs and reduces revenue. There is no upside unless you consider the chance for politicians to engage in class baiting to be an upside.

the dimswit triumverate
the dims party has an elitist trifecta ongoing. The arrogant howard, the screamer, dean and the two elitist identity politicians the oblahma and the missus clinton.

The dims wanted to be seen as the party of the big tent but found themselves with the one candidate belieivng she was entitled for being the long suffering wife of the serial milestor bubba and for having saved the dims during the impeachment process. The oblahma thinks that being a victim entitles him to be president to absolve white america for the past sins of slavery and segregation.

But all the dims have done is show that rather than be united they are nothing more the a party of special interests and identity politics. The only reason the campaign has endured for so long is that neither the oblahma nor the missus clinton is an appealing candidate.

But now it seems that the oblahma's closet has been cracked open and we find it is full of embarrassing skeletons. It wasn't enough that he was running a campaign of empty thetoric and no substance we find he has surrounded himself with vaqrious persons who strongly detest america. But even worse the oblahma has shown himself to be an elitist with no tolerance for the great unwashed of the hinderlands. It seems he sought to create a black identity but failed to understand the country wants a president for all the p[eople and not one who represents the special interests and the elitists

"There will not
be enough time for the Democratic Party to heal its self-inflicted wounds". From your pen to God's ears.

A statement about the media
There has long been a cry from those of us on the right about "media bias." Our position has been that the "hard questions" were only asked of conservatives or Republicans.

There was a very good reason why all the Democratic candidates for president "boycotted" Fox News and why both those on the left as well as those in the media now excoriate ABC. Under no circumstances must the public ever become aware of anything beyond their talking points.

Charlie and George disobeyed the prime directive: "Never, ever, confuse the public with the facts." As a result of their bungling however, those whose minds still function outside the propaganda of the press will now re-evaluate their opinions of Barack Obama.

It may never be known if the brave new front displayed by Mr. Gibson and Mr. Stephanopoulos was pure of motive or partisan in nature but one can only hope that the rest of the media gets a clue. It's the news stupid, not a political arena for agenda driven journalism.

Obama bombing in debate
Weather Underground bomber William Ayers attacked the Pentagon, the Capitol and other public buildings.
Ayers was quoted in the New York Times on Sept. 11, 2001, as saying, “I don’t regret setting bombs; I feel we didn’t do enough.”
It was at Ayers’s house that Obama’s state-senate candidacy was launched in 1995.
Obama continued to serve on a nonprofit board with Ayers after the Times article appeared.

And so many leftists DO NOT have a PROBLEM with this, but with questions TV Democrats asked of Democratic Party candidates – I seeeeeeeee….

Is Billary setting up Obama?

Clinton Backer Distributes Essay On How GOP Would Link Obama To ’70s Radicals?

Is Billary setting up Obama so they can run 4 years from now?

HP-A high-ranking labor supporter of Hillary Clinton is distributing to union leaders and to Democratic strategists a document detailing the radical activities of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, two former members of the ’70s group the Weather Underground, who decades later, in Chicago, crossed paths with Barack Obama.

The document - a three-page emailed essay by Rick Sloan, communications director for the International Association of Machinists as Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) — takes both literary and political license to outline what Sloan believes would be the thrust of a hypothetical Republican campaign against Obama focusing on his tangential connection to Ayers and Dohrn.

The goal of the essay appears to be to discredit Obama as the prospective Democratic presidential nominee.

Look at How Hillary throws the Kitchen
How Hillary deals with people who block her is how she will deal with ANYONE that gets in her way if she is president. We thought these last four years were bad with all of the contention in the Congress, that is just baby stuff to what Hillary will do to the country if she gets the presidency, with Bill being her attack dog.

Hillary needs to go somewhere where she can't hurt anyone anymore with her kitchen sink philosophy. If Hillary would just go away, I bet this country would heal and become the country it once was before the Clintonion disease hit us,which is called polarization. It works by not disagreeing over issues but snowing everyone confusing the issues by attacking the individual who dares to oppose you on anything, telling lies about them, or distorting their words so that everyone believes she is right. She needs to go back to her own kitchen and stay there and keep her mouth shut.
