When Campaigns Go Bad

Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Anyone who has been in politics for any length of time has been involved in a campaign which, for no good reason, suddenly goes bad.

If you don't believe me; ask Sen. Barack H. (!) Obama.

For the first 15 months of this Presidential primary season, Obama could do nothing wrong. If Ronald Reagan was Teflon because nothing stuck to him, then Obama has been Teflon sprayed with Pam then coated with butter.

Then, in late February the New York Times (and others) reported that Obama's senior economic policy adviser had told a Canadian official that the strong anti-NAFTA position Obama had been espousing in the run-up to the Ohio primary on March 4th was "more reflective of political maneuvering than policy."

The first reaction of the Obama campaign had been to deny the meeting had ever taken place (which was a lie) and they've been back on their heels ever since.

About a week after the NAFTA flap, came another Obama senior advisor, Samantha Power, telling The Scotland newspaper in an interview that Sen. Hillary R. (!) Clinton was "a monster."

"She is a monster too - that is off the record - she is stooping to anything."

So, now we're into the second week of March 2008 and two senior aides have had to quit over rookie mistakes in two weeks.

Then Obama's Church, which he had assured us had been his home-away-from home nearly every Sunday for 20 years, released DVDs of Jeremiah Wright's greatest hits which you've seen on every possible medium over the past two weeks.

This went on for an entire week before Obama's speech last Tuesday which, for 24 hours, appeared to have changed the discussion from Wright to Race.

After the Intelligencia Politica had 24 hours to proclaim The Speech to have ranked just slightly south of the Sermon on the Mount, the public discussion went all the way back to the question of how Obama could have been a loud, proud member of a church whose pastor was spewing anti-American rhetoric with some regularity from the pulpit.

Twelve days after the story broke, it was still was a central topic on the Sunday shows yesterday morning.

In the midst of all that, the Clinton campaign had released its 3:00 AM ad asking the rhetorical question who you wanted in the White House when the phone rang at three in the morning: Hillary R. (!) Clinton or Barack H. (!) Obama.

Whether the ad was fair or not, it did exactly what the Clinton campaign wanted it to do: Raise the issue of foreign policy competence in the Terrorist Era.

Continuing on the theory that when things begin to go wrong they go very wrong, on the day the Obama campaign scored its first big positive news in a month with the endorsement of New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, yet another senior Obama advisor went off the reservation by comparing Bill J. (!) Clinton to Joe McCarthy.

According to the Associated Press, B. J. (!) Clinton had said, musing about a Hillary v. John McCain general election match-up:

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country. And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

Which according to a co-chairman of Obama's campaign, Retired Gen. Merrill "Tony" McPeak, amounted to McCarthyism telling reporters:

"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it."

Both Clinton campaign supporters and Obama campaign supporters declared Gen. McPeak to be over the top (pun absolutely intended).

All of which proves the adage: When a campaign goes bad, it goes really bad.

Rich,you forgot a couple
The recent passport issue happens to be related to B. HUSSEIN O.'s foreign policy adviser CEO of TAC (The Analysis Corp).

Rev. J. Wright church newsletter has published the HAMAS manifesto in its "The Trumpet" written by a federal indictee AND fugitive hiding in Syria.

"The Trumpet" also published an article by muslim extremist Omad Safi of the falsely-named "Progressive Muslim Union".

When it rains it pours, but it will not wash HUSSEIN O. clean. So be it!

Let the chickens come home to roost!!!

Credit to:
Tom Blumer of BizzyBlog (Mar.17th & 20th) for breaking the "Trumpet" story above.

The chickens are cackling
The Dems. were so desperate to win a pres. race that they anointed a hack pol. from Chicago with a keynote speech with the idea that lacking any baggage and being black, he would make history as the first minority candidate (forgetting Shirley Chisolm, who much more experience when she tried her run in the 70s) and beat the Clintons that the old Dem. bulls did not want back in the White House.
The press was on board and all went swimmingly until even SNL noticed the slick pass everyone was giving BHO, if I can include his middle initial.
Once the press started to pay attention, the Rev. Wright, the weaknesses in the Obama campaign organization, the general lack of experience this guy with less than a decade in state and federal pol, was all too evident.
The Dems. now have the delicious dilemma of having a black candidate with the majority of popular vote delegates up against a feminist who will stop at nothing (I believe not even murder) to get the pol. power she thinks she deserves.
The Sec. Service had better be extra vigilant.

Why It Goes Bad
It was never good to begin with. Based upon a lie, perpetuated by the MSM, the truth about democrat/liberal positions shrivels to dust when forced into the light.

It Gets Worse
Apparently Obama's church of 23 years considers the white American church to be the "antichrist".

Obama has a Wright to hate whitey.

Stop perpetuating McCarthy lie
> "I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it." <

Everyone, esp. Repubs, should stop allowing this despicable lie about McCarthy to continue to be told.

McCarthy exposed **known communists**. He refused to name them publicly -- until brow-beaten into doing so -- so that they might have a chance to be cleared prior being named.

It was the Truman White House, esp. the State Department, that was spreading lies and using slander.

Read the new book, "Blacklisted By History" for more details.

comparing Bill to Joe
Senator McCarthy deserves an apology...

Sen. McCarthy was correct.
Just check out the "Venona Papers" !

The polls could be right. Maybe the whole Jeremiah W business has blown away with the wind. On the other hand, admitting you won't vote for Obama because you now believe he is a racist charlatan is not exactly the height of PC sensitivity, and few responders will claim that kind of position in a poll. Do you not see inconsistency in claiming America is a hotbed of white racism, and then claiming Jeremiah has not caught the unforgetting attention of a lot of voters, even if they won't admit it. I've seen a lot of racism, but never anyone stand up and shout "I'm doing this because I'm a racist and proud of it".

Billybob, SgtRice
McCarthy was a most unlikeable person and his motives were less than pure, but he was not just right, he didn't go nearly far enough. Truman knew the truth and had little sympathy for the commies, but he was a political loyalist first and buried the facts to protect the Democratic Party. The intelligence types who knew McCarthy was on to something did not support him because they did not want to compromise their source, a common failing with the intel community. Which, by the way, is a possible source of the success of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Veterans NOW are with McCain
Military and Veterans are supporting John McCain.

Galen wrong
Galen's lead-off sentence: "Anyone who has been in politics for any length of time has been involved in a campaign which, for no good reason, suddenly goes bad."

Seems like there are plenty of good reasons: extreme left positions, racist philosophy, lack of any substanitive accomplishment, lack of relevant experience.

Slick packaging and promotion will carry a defective product only briefly.

Mr. O is a no go.
Enough has been said about the errors of Mr. O's campaign, however nothing has been said that any common sense candidate should have seen the possibility of these issues and defused them before putting a hat in the ring. It is scary to think of this irresponsible person with a golden mouth and a disloyal American potential First Lady having a finger on the button.
He has the OJ Simpson voters who would vote for any skin color as lohg as there is black in the blood. Surely the rest of us can get it before it is too late.

once the oblahma became the media darling the msm cheered him on hoping he could end the reign of the clintons. It didn't matter he was tally empty of thought the media became enchanted with his soaring rhetoric". Seemingly incapable of making mistakes, the media raved about his running a perfect campaign. But alas it turns out he has more than just a crazy uncle sitting in the corner of his living room. He has shown that like others suffering from the addiciton of self importance he too can stick his foot in his mouth and then stich the second one in as well. It's one thing to throw granny under the bus to make sure his holds on to his black credentials but now claiming she is a typical white after first painting her as a closet racist seems to be something that even the golden voiced messiah of the left won't be able to explain away. We on the right knew he was empty of substance but how much cover can the left continue to give him.

wolfie
thanks for the post - the shameful attacks on McCarthy have been perpetuated by ongoing communists and their fellow travelers ever since-with academe and -ughh- hollywood at the forefront

Boute
err- that poll you refer to has been thoroughly discredited-CBS used their usual tactics to make a poll reflect their desired outcome
Baltimore Sun? LOL-that rag is Pravda!

More to Come
BHO is not done yet. He has many more skeletons in his closet.

The MSM has given him a free pass, have not dissected his politics or his views. They have taken him at his words which is all about change and hope.

But what kind of change? What is he hoping for?

To answer that question all one need do is take a look at the ultra liberal far-left blogs.

Complete Amnesty for illegals
Slavery reparations - which would include African Americans paying no federal taxes (same as Indians)
Handing U.S. Sovereigny over to the U.N.
Dismantling our military.
Dismantling our nuclear weapons.
Destroying our defense shield systems.
Turning our back on Israel.
Supporting Hamas and Hezbollah.
Giving Iraq to Iran.
Clemency for all Africa Americans in prison.
Dissolving churches non-profit status.
Gay marriage and adoption.
Making guns illegal to possess all over America.
Destruction of our health care system.
Severe fines for harming wildlife.
Huge rewards for harming unborn children.

Well...you get the idea.

BHO is from Chicago
I grew up in Illinois. Illinois politics in general, Chicago politics in particular, are as corrupt as you will find anywhere. The old joke about dead people voting for Richard Daley (more than once) was no joke. If BO succeeded in Chicago, we can rest assured that Tony Rezko is just the first in a long, long line of questionable characters in his past. That's just the way it's done in Chicago. That's union country, and one plays politics by union rules, or one does not play. Union rules, of course, are not to be confused with the rules by which the unions play. It's only a matter of time before more Rezkos crawl out of their holes.

McPeak no prize for Air Force
Well, I was in the Air Force during McPeak's tenure. He was concerned with fat people and redesigning the uniform (his proposed uniform looked like an airline pilot's uniform and was uniformly unpopular with the troops). I don't why any media ask McPeak his opinion on anything. He is as wrong about the rest of it as he is about McCarthy. He's sick of McCarthy? How about being sick of lies, General? You were in the Air Force during the 50 years we were fighting the Cold War against the Communists. As a Russian specialist, I was on the front line of that war. The Venona papers prove that our government was penetrated at every level by the Communists. So, if you were tired of hearing about Communists, then you were tired of hearing the truth about a dire threat to this nation. What did you think you were doing all those years of the Cold War? Does anyone care what this moron has to say?

No good reason?
Galen writes:

"Anyone who has been in politics for any length of time has been involved in a campaign which, for no good reason, suddenly goes bad."

There is a very good reason this campaign has gone bad. The candidate is a charlatan. An empty suit. A poser. A liar. A race hustler. Totally unqualified for any position in a presidential administration other than press secretary. He is incapable of doing anything competently except making prepared speeches by reading them from a teleprompter and/or cue cards.

The question is not how this loser's campaign went bad. It's how it got as far as it did before he was shown to be the incompetent phony that he is.
