Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

At about 8 PM Wednesday night, the New York Times posted what was supposed to be a blockbuster article about Sen. John McCain and his dealings with a female lobbyist.

I read the piece on line and - having exhausted my lips by getting through all 3,000 words - I thought, "That's it?"

The next morning, when I saw the print edition, I realized the New York Times had put this article (which was nothing more than coffee-machine gossip, inference, speculation, and conjecture) on its front page.

It was written in such a way as to lead a reader into believing that Sen. John McCain had a sexual relationship with a lobbyist for a number of communications clients and did political favors for her in return.

One minor quibble: The New York Times had exactly zero evidence of any wrong-doing on the part of Senator McCain. None. Nada. Bupkis.

The way this game is played in Washington (and elsewhere) is the other 1,375 news organizations spent the day rehashing the story but, as of this writing none of them had moved the story ahead by so much as a semicolon.

In short, the Times had a half dozen reporters and editors trying to pin the story down for many months. The best they could do was to find someone in the McCain camp who had admitted to having to tell the lobbyist to back off because it might look bad.

A couple of things: First, lobbyists get paid for access. If a lobbyist can report to his or her boss (or client, or both) that he or she was with the Senator at this event, or was with the Congressman at that event then the lobbyists gets style points.

Further, lobbying is actually an activity protected by the Constitution. The First Amendment reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Lobbyists are professional redressers.

Nevertheless, it has not been unknown in Washington for a lobbyist to get too cozy with the staff or the boss and someone like, oh just for the sake of argument say, me might have to take them aside - male or female - and tell them that they needed to find a new hobby because they were becoming a pain.

Happens.

This particular lobbyist dealt with clients in the communications industry. The article points out that McCain (then chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee which has sway over communications issues) wrote a letter to the FCC at the urging of the lobbyist.

What the article did not point out was that the FCC had been diddling with whatever the issue was for some two years and all the letter did was ask the Commissioners to take a vote so the parties involved in the issue could move on.

The letter, according to the McCain folks, specifically noted that the Senator didn't care which way the vote came out, but urged them to do their jobs and deal with the issue as they saw fit.

Yikes! He did that? Now, that's some front page news.

The Times also dinged McCain for making use of a corporate jet belonging to one of the lobbyist's clients. A client who had also made a donation to one of McCain's campaigns.

News flash. You don't have to go back eight years to find that kind of activity; you only have to go back about five months. Until September of last year it was perfectly legal and within House and Senate rules to borrow a corporate jet and pay what commercial first class air fare would be for anyone travelling with the Congressman or Senator.

The rules now require that the plane be chartered at market rates, so you can see dozens - perhaps hundreds - of Members of Congress and Senators now standing in the TSA lines at Reagan National Airport on Friday afternoons as they have to fly commercial.

If the Times published a list of every Member of the House and Senate who flew on a jet owned by a corporation which had also donated to his or her campaign committee - whole forests would have to be sacrificed to supply enough paper.

The New York Times is a big company and its editors and executives will have to explain why they thought this story, undeveloped and unfair, needed to be in the paper.

My opinion was it was the journalistic equivalent of a blogger sitting in his basement feeding out rumors to the internet over his dial-up connection.

Typical Liberals
Overplaying a Hand that THEY DON'T HAVE!

McCain is guilty, guilty, guilty (N/T)
McCain is guilty, guilty, guilty (N/T)

This story is getting a lot of press ...
and hopefully, it will all boomerang back on the NYT to show how biased, unprofessional, unethical and worthless they are as a news organization. They are a leftist propoganda rag that pushes stories that hurt President Bush or any national Republican affiliate, and buries any story that makes the Republicans look good or their beloved Democrats and socialist agenda look bad. Period. End of story. Ignore the NYT. Quit reading it if you do. Quit adversizing if you do. As I posted on another thread, probably no one who frequents Town Hall reads or has anything to do with the NYT anyway so I am probably waisting my breath.
Oh by the way, ABC, NBC and CBS will all parrot the story and try to make something out of it but probably won't be critical of the New York Times because they have the same agenda. Quit watching them too!

The NY Times endorsed McCain
"They are a leftist propoganda rag that pushes stories that hurt President Bush or any national Republican affiliate"

They endorsed John McCain, so what does that tell us about him?

With elegant rebuttal, this is asset
to McCain's camp!

Elegant means strong rebuttal delivered in a calm and with style.

The New York Times is worse than College-level newspaper. Wait a minute. Why I said so? Just look at the yesterday edition.

On the front page was the McCain story. Next to that is the picture of Obama with smile shaking hands in a crowded stadium.

And at the same time, they prented to be non-bias and non-partisan newspaper.

The nature of evidence
What exactly do you mean when you say "zero evidence," Mr. Galen? You are simply redefining the concept "evidence" so that it suits your preferred outcome. Witnesses who had direct sense perception of the events in question said that there was inappropriate behavior going on and that McCain admitted his behavior was inappropriate. That is evidence. Unless, of course, you have evidence that they were lying or the NYT made up the interviews. But then I could always dispute your "evidence" on the basis of your very own evidentiary rules, now couldn't I?

Oh, what a tangled web we weave.

Wuhoo
Re. NYT "endorsement" of The McChurian Candidate-

"What does it tell us", indeed! Richie Rich is shilln for McAin't too. I have a complete analysis of the McScues currently being fielded by the McBeeches at my TH blog--click my underlined handle above.

In short, Richie Rich's is a variation on a previous McBeech Flying Fig Leaf (McBFFL--the McScuse that is the "fig leaf" to cover their bared and presented McUppedRumps?).

This would be McBFFL 9, originally fielded yesterday? by MK (d)Ham(n). Admittedly Richie's was more Gilt Bird Cabin GOP down the nose disdain, while der Hamster's was Cat Scratch Fever ("lying, mean, un-professonal, mean, lying"--did I say mean? etc). BOTH of them are ypimping us the lie that McAin't MUST be OK because the Evil Empire of DarthNYT and the MSM are out to "smear" him. Played carefully and subtly, this game can lead us, usually gullible, Conservatives to believe Mac The Knife must really be one of us.

Richie and "inside the belt"ers
take that anyway you like.

I suggest it says all we REAL

(throw in commiequeer/McBeech epithet of your choice--"right wing","evangelical", "ditto head", "know nothing", "kamakazi" etc)

I suggest it says all we REAL Conservatives need to know about the McHosers that Richie Rich here advances an argument in favor of INFLUENCE PEDDLING reminiscent of RoeVWade and
"unreasonable search and seizure".

LOBBIEST are "professional redressers", huh?

Uh, Richie, can you wait a second while I change the pants I just WET laughing? Be nice to catch my breath too.

So "the right of the PEOPLE to PETITION the government for a REDRESS (as in a VIOLATION of our RIGHTS ala Jefferson's Declaration) of GRIEVANCES (see REDRESS) actually means the right of Robber Barons to send Politicians on Junkets to Los Vegas?

more on that and The McChurian Connection, below.

Call Sign Maverick and Wings ovr
Vietnam.

Isn't the guy that "Wings Over Vietnam" interviews along with Big Mac---his squadron Co or Flight Leader who "kept turning in" over Hanoi or Hyphong or someplace and won some kind of citation or something--isn't or wasn't HE also a "politician"? He says to the interviewer in response to Big Mac's praise of his actions,"he's a politician, honey, he'll lie to ya". Is THAT guy, the colleague of Mac who's now serving time for Influence Peddling Via High Stakes Poker Games?

IF NOT I'd really appreciate it if someone got it straight for me.

Point here is: "I wonder if Richie would consider THAT "redress of grievances".

The First Shot Across the Bow
Well, now that the RINO Establishment has their man pretty much in place to grab the Repub nomination, it certainly did not take his fellow liberals much time to turn on him. I initially thought that this campaign was going to be a Bob Dole redux, without that gentleman's class. But, by running a liberal with more skeletons in his closet than does Harvard Medical School, the RINOs have ensured that this is going to be a real mudfest. Obama seems to have taken great care to not have a paper trail, and other than doing what Mayor Daley ordered, was not all that prominent in either the Illinois General Assembly or the U.S. Senate. Mr. McCain, on the other hand is what we used to refer to in the smart weapons business as "a target rich environment." The Democrats have been planning payback for what happened to Kerry, for some time, and McCain is the answer to their prayers (to gaia, no doubt). By the time this is over, McCain is probably going to be accused of siring children with Sally Hemmings. Once again, the far left corporate wing of the Republican Party has sold the conservative principles of its base down the river, and I would not be surprised if that Party does not survive the upcoming election and financial disasters that the RINOs have engendered by their greedy ineptitude.

one mo question
What were the gory details of the S&L bailout and the Keating 5? What was Mac accused of?
Here we have him with another "redresser"---oh what an opening THAT is Richie---who, at the LEAST was bragging about her INFLUENCE.

I, for one, would like to see ALL the stuff on the FCC--were they "diddlin" because SOMEBODY in essence was Filibustering---an unconstitutional ploy beloved of commiequeers and faux "conservatives" as protecting a "passionate (and STILL WRONG!!!) minority".
Was that because some people of integrity were suspicious of what was trying to be done? Did Mac's cattle prod have the EFFECT of short circuiting the process in favor of the Robber Barons? How can we know--why should we take YOUR word, Richie???? Or Mac's??

In fact, taken in its entirety, Richie's whole column here is SO lame one begins to wonder if he is "damning with faint praise"? Merely pretending to McHose while offering arguments so stupid as to sabotage McAin't completely.

Nawwww. ??

Bounty
Well captured!

I take it further on my blog--click the underlined name above.

First I suggest that what you call "the far left corp wing" and I call The Robber Baron Establishment Machine Party Bosses (EMPBs) of the Gilt Bird Cabin Conservative Free GOP (yours is more succinct I admit--but mine's sorta colorful don't you think--same guys though)--I suggest the EMPBs chose McAin't ON PURPOSE KNOWING HE WAS A LOSER--because their PRIMARY FEAR was an Anti-Amnesty Candidate.

I futher suggest that The Robber Baron EMPBs and the CINO/RINO GOP have been Abusing Us, their Conservative "partners" since Reagan left office. Twenty years of Infidelity, Adultery, Unfaithfulness, Psychological and Verbal Abuse, Power Drunkeness, Financial Irresponsibility and now Abandonment.

I figure it's way past time for a Divorce!

Clintonian
Galen is sound like a Clintonista--
-there's no there there
-this is old news
-everyone does it

Galen, who funded the Reform Institute?
Do you even care?

I'm filing for divorce.

Does the GOP Want To Survive?

If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do.
1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands.
2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats.
3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill.
4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.

It's up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.

Feel The Pain of Voting McCain
There's a bumper sticker.

And WHERE in the Constitution
Does it say "the right of people to earn a living giving certain groups of people greater access to the government than others shall be protected and promoted."?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Lobbyists are professional redressers. "

Ain't no provision in the Constitution for " *professional* redressers."

Nice try, though.

McCain now makes Bob Dole look good
Wow,
You McCainites have chosen someone soooo bad that he makes Bob Dole the moderate look like a pretty good Conservative.

McCain is disappointed, boohoo
This happens all the time McCain. A true relationship gone bad. One day your a Maverick, the next your just another Republican running for President. The relationship was OK as long as McCain was sticking it to the Republicans and siding with the Democrats. Ask the NYT or the Democrats to side with McCain against Hillary or Obama and your on your own McCain. Where are the critics now? Let's see if they attack the NYT the way they attacked Conservative talk radio. Speaking of talk radio. Does McCain expect talk radio to come to his aid now or what? If there's one thing you learn, is not to burn your bridges in politics. Attacking talk radio was not a smart thing to do. Who in the GOP has the listening audience talk radio does to mend those bridges? McCain will come away finding out something about himself. He's just another Republican to the NYT.

Anyone
think McCains new conference was too calm? I
was wondering if they didn't have him on some happy pills to avoid a volatile confrontation.
He just looked too floaty to me.

Obama Lies
I sure hope the Republicans and McCain were taping that debate last night in Texas.
Obama is an out and out liar but the hate America panel and audience didn't say a peep.
Obama stated he met a corporal or something that had been in Afghanistan. The officer told Obama his unit should be 39 but 15 had to go to Iraq.
The officer stated they were sent to Afghanistan with no vehicles or weapons. He said they had to capture prisoners in order to get weapons and ammunition.
McCain needs to use that tape and confront Obama with this lie against our military. Unbelievable.

McCain’s Closest Advisers Mostly Lobbyis

Get ready to hear about this during the general. Americans looking for change aren’t gonna dig it.

WAPO: For years, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has railed against lobbyists and the influence of “special interests” in Washington, touting on his campaign Web site his fight against “the ‘revolving door’ by which lawmakers and other influential officials leave their posts and become lobbyists for the special interests they have aided.”

But when McCain huddled with his closest advisers at his rustic Arizona cabin last weekend to map out his presidential campaign, virtually every one was part of the Washington lobbying culture he has long decried. His campaign manager, Rick Davis, co-founded a lobbying firm whose clients have included Verizon and SBC Telecommunications. His chief political adviser, Charles R. Black Jr., is chairman of one of Washington’s lobbying powerhouses, BKSH and Associates, which has represented AT&T, Alcoa, JPMorgan and U.S. Airways.

Senior advisers Steve Schmidt and Mark McKinnon work for firms that have lobbied for Land O’ Lakes, UST Public Affairs, Dell and Fannie Mae.

Now Sir Galen, I'll give you the ANSWER
:D

This NYT story is damage control. They need a lightning rod to take away attention from Ms. O Bama's recent comments about Shameful America.

"Professional redressers"?
I would quibble with that. What the lobbyists are is hired professional petitioners. The "professional redressers" are the congress-critters.

Of course, they perpetuate and continually expand the system that keeps them employed. The more government does, the more grievances there are requiring redress. Note the lobbying level of Microsoft both pre and post anti-trust suit.

Mc Vs. Obama
Americans will not take the risk of an inexperienced guy whose platform of "transparency in government" is overshadowed by his refusal to release earmarks for 2005 and 2006. And his wife's paper about race relations in america being kept confidential until after the election. Voters will want to know what is in Mrs. O's paper and why Mr. O won't go public with his earmarks. This risk coupled with the lack of experience will be enough to help Mc keep all the states that Bush won in 2004.

Wendy
Who are these witnesses you refer to????

RE: Galen's answer to NYTimes 'report'
Reporting, as I've said thousands of TIMES, is a sacred responsibility. It is something America should take much more seriously than it does.

That's why I subscribe to "award winning" newspapers like the Christian Science Monitor, which was developed in 1908 by its founder, Mary Baker Eddy; With a mission statement which reads: "to injure no man but to bless all mankind."

We have choices. As Americans, we take for granted the freedoms that so many others would cherish, given the chance. That's why our boarders are overflowing.

For a newspaper to choose a story based on anything less than [the benefit it will bring to all who read it], is abusing the very constitutional rights that afford it its opportunity in the first place. Not to mention the rights its reader's have to receiving pure journalism.

For me to elaborate on the NYT article, would only support its intent. So I will close by asking Americans to select their media as they select their fruit. Hold one in your hand and look for its bruises with care. If it has too many, place it back into its crate (or churn it into your gardening mulch). That way, it has a better chance of becoming fruitful in some other way.

McCained
A good title for this piece, for this is the way Senator McCain operates. He treats anyone who doesn't agree with him as garbage, and has no hesitation about lying about or backstabbing a colleague.

He was pleased with his endorsement from the NYT, which is nothing more than the Democratic Party house organ. He should not have been surprised about this article. And if he thinks this is bad, wait until they start going after his public and private persona.

This is definitely a year to vote third party.

Shot over the bow
THis article was simply a shot over the republicans bow because Michelle Obama was all the talk at that time. It worked. It got her off the talk shows, off the front page and got the republicans to circle the wagons to protect their candidate. DUH!!! That this wishy washy charge is all they came up with tells us that either there isn't much they can dig up on McCain or that this is just a taste of what will happen if the Obamas are criticized.

Chosing the Pres
After selecting our presidential candidate, we should exercise our right to pray for him and his office term, on a daily basis.

A country who prays for its President, has a much better chance of ensuring he makes the ethical and moral decisions needed to empower our nation.

His position will face many challenges that could compromise his trust. Praying for him on a regular basis (rather than smeering him) is a wise means to a prosperous end.

This is a scientific equation. That's why it is important to choose the man you believe will be the most receptive to right.

I believe Barak Obama, with our support, can be our best choice for 2008. If you feel I am wrong, you must supply a record of fact.

Otherwise, you have no argument.

Yeah, So What?
Rumors catch fire because they are belivable. Had the NY Times reported about how McCain carried on with the current 18 years younger affluent Mrs McCain, while he was married to the former Mrs McCain, back when the NYT (ahem) endorsed him, perhaps their undocumented Page 1 gossip might have had legs. Why are we now just hearing about the Keating 5 story (not blame or fault but the story itself)? Instead of talking about the candidates' political and personal background/resume, the media (NOT JUST THE NY TIMES), this primary season, has overly obsessed on the primary process and strategy. Why haven't they, up to now, scrutinized each candidate's dealings with lobbyists? Why haven't they delved into each candidate's personal background? Why wait until after the primary process is over to "inform" the public? We're deservingly shooting the messenger now and they're gonna have to take it for all of the media because they all deserve it. Politicians, the Media - all losers.

Limbaugh
He said why are people surprised at the times trying to destroy McCain after endorsing him.Limbaugh said right after the times endorsed McCain that as soon as he got the nomination they would turn on him

See, he told you so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rush has made so many predictions that were laughed at initially but later came true that you'd think people would no longer be so quick to diss and dismiss him. Oh, I forgot. He's a conservative so he can NEVER be right.

I and most conservatives are NOT jubilant over a McCain candidacy but we'll go to war with the candidate we've got and not the one we WISH we had such as Bobby Jindal. I think he's a year too young at this point anyway.

He said why are people surprised at the times trying to destroy McCain after endorsing him. Limbaugh said right after the times endorsed McCain that as soon as he got the nomination they would turn on him.

And this NY Slimes story is only the opening shot.
For the whole time the liberal MSM has been kissing up to McCain, they've also been building a case to use to destroy him after duping the "moderate" and liberal "Republicans" to make him our candidate.

Nellie writes:

“After selecting our presidential candidate, we should exercise our right to pray for him and his office term, on a daily basis.”

Nellie, putting the Dem’s in control of both houses of Congress and the White House, your “right” to pray could be in serious jeopardy.

“Praying for him on a regular basis (rather than smeering him) is a wise means to a prosperous end.”

Nellie, putting the Dem’s in control of both houses of Congress and the White House is a foolish means to an un-prosperous end.

“This is a scientific equation. That's why it is important to choose the man you believe will be the most receptive to right. I believe Barak Obama…can be our best choice...If you feel I am wrong, you must supply a record of fact. Otherwise, you have no argument.”

You’re belief in the righteousness of B. Hussein Obama is commendable, but it hardly stands as proof that he’s the right man for the job. Beyond your beliefs, please supply some facts that scientifically prove the equation that he’ll make a good President. If you can’t, then you have no argument, only your prayerful beliefs—which we’re all entitled to.

Yellow Tabloid Journalism
The NYTimes is the nation's premier example of copperhead, yellow, tabloid journalism.

This is just Round One
I gotta say this whole thing's no surprise. When the NY Slimes endorsed McCain, I wrote at the time they were simply helping to pick the most favorable candidate to their side, the easiest one to attack and alienate from conservatives, and he was the "glass half full" guy. I also predicted that as soon as he was nominated, they'd start blasting him with both barrels.

Well, the only difference is that they didn't wait until he was officially nominated. But then, they didn't have to; he's the presumptive nominee.

I predict, once we get past the conventions, stories and "think pieces" highlighting McCain's "reaching across the aisle" to create terrible legislation; sure to alienate conservatives.

Stories about his legendary temper, and how ex-aides trembled in fear of him.

Stories recalling episodes such as his saying "f**k you" to John Cornyn.

Stories about him flip-flopping on the issues just to get conservative support. Sure to alienate Dems... and probably just about everyone else, too.

They'll paint his "maverick"ness as a sure sign of mental/emotional instability, as well as unreliability. You can't believe anything he promises.

Then just wait until they discuss his age -- particularly if Obama's the Dem candidate. Too old; 25th Amendment; senility; irrascibility; in his 70s, older than Reagan, who got Alzheimer's; on and on and on.

He is one big, fat, juicy target. They'll have a field day.

Remember my prediction.

How many times do I have to tell you not to use my name until you're ready to man-up and call me Benedict Arnold to my face?

Are you even stupider than you are yellow? That would be hard to believe.

A question for Richie Rich Galen
The NYT hasn't been relevant to any Genuine Conservative OUTSIDE the Belt (take that anyway you want) for YEARS. Or to any Red Stater. Why any Genuine Conservative would even bother to read Darth Times is beyond me. That RR G and McAin't apparently DO care speaks VOLUMES to me of what "Genuine Conservatives" BECOME once they have chosen to "take their place" "inside the belt."

I understand and appreciate your sentiments!

I once tried to read a copy of NYT from cover to cover. Mostly BORING! It is a really thick paper.
For at least the last 10 years, it has evolved into nothing more than a supermarket tablo. I used to watch ABC, CBS, NBC news eligiously. Gosh! I really liked the give-&-take of David & Chet. Then they devolved into biased gossip rags on TV. I quit watching them years ago.

Now, I depend on depend on bloggers for my accurate, unbiased news. Just joking! Actually I (sometimes) watch CNN, MSCNN, CSPAN, CNBC - but with the understanding of their bias. FOX, also biased but toward conservatism, is the one newscast I find to be more accurate, complete, & balanced (explores both sides of an issue). At least FOX is not replete with "yellow journalism" like the others (except for maybe Jeraldo).

HEY, TEA PARTY
You're reading my mind! McCrusty's 1st few words sounded like he was going to bomb NYT. Suddenly, he gets all woosy and calm. Thought to myself, "What's wrong with this picture?" Then, the last few words looked like he was returning to his red faced, desk pounding, temper flaring self.

Absolutely right,
There was nothing there!
Cheap shot.

MCCAINED? OR GALENED?
Mr. Galen's column certainly makes him appear to be knowledgeable about the goings-on in Washington. I believe every word of his column.

He is also articulate and persuasive during interviews on Fox.

The last paragraph could have been written differently, however, leaving out the reference to the blogger sitting in his basement feeding out rumors ... over his dial-up connection.

I daresay there are a number of Townhall bloggers who blog via their dial-up Internet connections while sitting in basements. Rumor-mongering probably has little to do with those bloggers, however, and it struck me as somewhat condescending of Mr. Galen.

I know the old saw: "if the shoe fits, wear it." However, there are a few bloggers here on Townhall who are thoughtful, facile with computer keyboards and even some who have well-appointed offices with bay windows and lace curtains or other amenities.

Am I the only commenter/blogger here at TH who feels as though he has been "GALENED"?

The political debate and the fight
It is with dismay that I see political debate fall into a fight. Fight has become the political cry. Everyone running for office wants to fight for us. I had rather they work hard for us to accomplish what we need to stay safe, keep a secure economy, and work to correct other problems facing us. But, the word fight is used as a noun, verb, adjective and adverb in every political speech or chat. What happened to civil discourse and debate? Remember when people set forth their ideas and the facts that supported them? It was a worthy pursuit that changed people's opinions and got us together for a common cause. I am disappointed with the name calling and crude comments I have read by two here. Maybe they are just not too bright, or, more probably, they need mental health help. I am an elderly woman who has always been very conservative. What I am reading sounds like the conservatism of Skin Heads.

This is nothing. I haven't seen your name here before, so I don't know if you are new to TH, but here's some advice: If you think these posts are out in right field, you should think twice about coming back. This thread is like reading Rick Warren compared to the others.

you say BHO is the best candidate - and ask for someone to give you a reason why he is not. I'll tell you why not.

1) Anyone who is MORE LIBERAL than Ted Kennedy or Chuck Shumer is NOT someone I want as president of the United States of America.

2) Anyone who refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin or put his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance is NOT qualified to be president of the United States of America.

3) Anyone who attends the church of a racist minister and considers him a good friend and advisor is NOT anyone I want as president of the United States of America.

4) I'll stop here for now - I'll even leave out his wife's stupid comment last week!

I agree with other posters that this McCain expose was simply a way to get Mrs. Obama off the hot seat - and it appears to have worked.

The media is going to be the ruin of our country! They decide who will be the next target of their unsubstantiated charges...nothing like having to prove a negative false!
