Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Who should decide what you hear over the radio and on TV? You? Or policymakers in Washington?

If freedom of speech appeals to you -- if you think we need robust debate to keep democracy alive and well -- the answer should be clear.

Unfortunately, it’s not so clear to certain liberal lawmakers. The rest of us hear, say, Rush Limbaugh on our lunch hours and tune into Bill O’Reilly in the evening and enjoy the lively give-and-take that erupts over the issues of the day. But those liberals aren’t so happy. They don’t like it when Rush or Bill (or Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and other noteworthy and entertaining pundits) shines a spotlight on our elected leaders and all their foibles.

That’s why liberals are dusting off the so-called “Fairness Doctrine.”

The Fairness Doctrine, despite its name, gives Americans a raw deal. The Federal Communications Commission created it in 1949 to require broadcasters to present both sides of any controversial issue that they touched on. Sounds … well, fair, right? Except for two major problems.

One is practical -- it makes for boring radio and TV. Why? Because broadcasters responded to the Fairness Doctrine predictably: Realizing that it would be extraordinarily difficult to ensure that each issue was treated in perfect balance, they opted in large measure to steer clear of controversial topics. After all, there’s only one way to guarantee that no one is offended by what you say … and that’s to say nothing.

The other problem is a little something known as the First Amendment. Where, pray tell, is it written in the Constitution that we must exercise our free speech in a “balanced” way? Sorry, but the kind of robust debate that our Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Constitution -- indeed, the kind of debate that led to the founding of this nation -- can’t be hemmed in with parliamentary demands that we carefully include “the other side” every time we speak. Like it or not, democracy’s messy.

So the FCC, in 1985, finally began to overturn the Fairness Doctrine, and President Reagan vetoed every attempt to bring it back. It didn’t take long for the phenomenon of talk radio -- as we know it today -- to arise. “When Rush Limbaugh began his career,” writes Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., in the latest issue of American Legion magazine, “there were 125 talk-radio stations. Today there are 2,000.” And no, they’re not all conservative. “While Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other conservative giants dominate the national syndicated market,” Pence adds, “many moderate and liberal programs succeed admirably at the local level.”

Regardless, many politicians don’t like talk radio and its televised equivalent. After all, Americans who listen to pundits with strong opinions tend to become, gee, informed about the issues of the day. Instead of minding their own business, they learn things. Then they call and write their representatives in Washington, demanding action. We can’t have that!

Of course, the case against an unregulated marketplace of ideas is so flimsy, it requires deception. Consider the liberal attack on Rush Limbaugh over his “phony soldiers” remark. Rush, in fact, had made a perfectly legitimate argument. If a soldier who had been kicked out of boot camp, then claimed to have witnessed fellow soldiers committing atrocities in Iraq isn’t a “phony,” who is? But the truth didn’t matter to many liberals. They tried to accuse Rush, of all people, of being anti-patriotic! It was so absurd, the charge didn’t stick. But that didn’t stop liberal lawmakers from threatening to revive the Fairness Doctrine.

That’s why Pence has introduced the “Broadcaster Freedom Act” -- to ensure that no future president can regulate the airwaves of America without an act of Congress. “America is a nation of freedom and strong opinion,” he says. “Our government must not be afraid to entrust our good people with all the facts and opinions necessary to make choices as an informed electorate. That is what democracy is all about.”

It’s not just Republicans who think so. As President John F. Kennedy once said, “We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

So let’s ask those who champion the Fairness Doctrine: What are you afraid of?

Let our rulers rule!
By interfering with the edicts established by our rulers, those participating in the talk show circuit are attempting to undermine the policies that are being established for the good of society. If our rulers have to devote time to answering their critics, they cannot freely implement the policies that they know to be in our best interest. If such policies are delayed or cancelled, society is harmed. Such potential harm should not go unchecked.

Harmful speech is the same as hateful speech, and criticism of the policies of our rulers is both harmful and hateful. Since critical speech can potentially harm members of our society, it should be outlawed.

Our rulers allow us the privilege to have a voice in who is elected, and it is the duty of the citizen to then let the ruler do as they see fit without interference.

The only way we can truly be free is to have the voices of critics and dissenters silenced. This will enable our rulers to do as they see fit, and that works out better for everybody.

Transparent Intolerance
Democrats who are attempting to revive the Fairness Doctrine are doing so for two reasons:

1. They are intolerant of ideas and opinions they find objectionable and 2. They want to limit and control the free expression of those opinions in the future.

Democrats are chafed raw by the fact that Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other conservative radio hosts have tens of millions of loyal listeners who can be mobilized to voice their opinions on issues like illegal immigration. Even some elitist Republicans have complained about talk radio after being caught supporting the wrong side of an issue.

Simply put, Democrats and others who support the Fairness Doctrine cannot claim to also support free speech. The two are entirely incompatible.

Desperation, Stupidity, and Irrelevance
Nothing surprises anymore. Kathleen Parker reports on women citing 'concern about carbon footprints' to explain decisions to abort little ones. Same people demonstrate exceptional intelligence and sensitivity to the environment. Apparently, a formula has been developed permitting this calculation: the abortion will allow them to fly to a global warming conference and remain 'carbon footprint neutral'.

Ms. Hagelin alerts us of attempts to re-introduce the 'Fairness Doctrine'. Not surprising but clear proof that EQ trumps IQ every time. Stupid is as stupid does. Thank God for natural law.

Talk Radio = Mind Suck for Idiots
Fairness Doctrine is idiotic but has no serious chance of passing. It's no threat. You guys use it as a straw man to whine about how persecuted you are.

People who need to listen to talk radio and be spoon fed their opinions deserve it - let the babies have their bottle. Tune in every day and let your heroes on the far right tell you all about those dirty, traitorous libs. Then realize your friends and coworkers laugh behind your back when they hear you repeating something you've heard on the radio knowing you are a TOOL.

Talk Radio = Mind Suck for Libs
Yeah shurely you jest or you are displaying some of that vaulted Lefty love of free speech...why not defund NPR and see if it can make it off the Taxpayer's teats...SHURELY NPR can do better than Arr America...

golly, desu
You sound a little bitter. Did your favorite lib talk show get bumped due to no ratings? Attempts to bring back the Fairness Doctrine by libs is just another admission that they fail in the free market. Rush has millions of listeners, lib shows have dozens. Hannity has millions and, when his lib cohort Colmes tried talk radio he had to pay stations to carry him. Hannity is on half-dozen stations in our market and Colmes is on zero. There is no conspiracy at work here - it is capitalism of ideas, pure and simple.

Your name of conservatives notwithstanding, conservative talk radio is hugely successful because people listen in droves. Liberal Rant Radio is unsuccessful because people turn them off in droves. The major lib network, NPR, survives only because of massive infusions of tax dollars. Come to think of it, just like libs. If it weren't for welfare, what would you guys live on?

Vaquero surely you joke
Nearly all of talk radio is neo con conservative. Air America was supposed to be the liberal version but it never caught on. Neo cons are obviously the market for this thing. They don't want real news, they don't want to learn anything. They just want some outrageous "personality" saying over the top things for shock value (in real life the host is always some out of shape wuss sitting behind a desk saying things that would earn him a punch in the nose if he said it to someone's face). It's like the same Andrew Dice Clay sketch over and over. How many times can a man say "Islamic fascist" in an hour? Zzzzz...

Organised facism
I will certainly enjoy the day when Hilary Clinton invites all members of the "drive-by media" for their goverment sponsered talking points in the tradition of the Bush league facists who have no problem calling in right wing radio hosts for their directives.

Well
Guess it's time for some of you to drink your coffee and drive to work as you let your heroes whip you into a self righteous ecstasy so you can hate hate hate those dirty arabs and those evil libs. I wonder, do you feel smart when you recognize some catch phrase or argument and can predict what's coming next? LOL at all the brave road warriors who feel personally tough and strong for listening to the radio.

desu
Do you feel smart while you reel off some predictable liberal name-calling rant? You may have a point in there somewhere but I doubt anyone could find it. Argue with the facts: conservative talk radio has millions of listeners and liberal rant radio has virtually none. There is no coercion to listen to either, there is no prohibition to listening to either. Rush started out on half-dozen stations and grew to his present day success because people wanted to listen. Air America started on a dozen stations and shrank to its current bankruptcy. Are you going to try to convince us that everyone in America, save you, is somehow being manipulated into listening to conservative radio? The sheer arrogance of that attitude marks you as intellectually suspect - with that much hubris you can't possibly have room for rational thought. Judging from the lack of argument and the abundance of rant in your posts, that is, in fact, the case.

yes
"Argue with the facts: conservative talk radio has millions of listeners and liberal rant radio has virtually none."

=========

That is my point, exactly. Talk radio does not teach the news, it does not educate listeners. What is does is try its hardest to convert you to the host's point of view. To do this the host will resort to straw men, name calling, ignore facts/arguments that undermine the argument. Conclusion: people who listen to talk radio are not seeking news, they are seeking "opinion." That they are unable to formulate their own opinion tends to show they are not very smart.

Because talk radio listeners are overwhelmingly conservative, this tends to show conservatives are not very smart.

A couple of thoughts
I might advise Ms. Hagelin to stop quoting President Kennedy. Senator Ted might throw another hissy fit because someone is using words that are the private property of the Democrat party and/or the Kennedy family. The last hissy fit was when the right was quoting President Kennedy's lines about lowering taxes to stimulate the economy. Remember, it isn't fair to you their words against them.

Now to the main point. Talk radio has become the functional equivilent of the soapbox on the public square. In the past, nobody was required to give someone having a different view point equal time on his box or stop talking to allow someone in the peanut gallery time to respond. If you disagreed you brought your own box and the debate began.

Public discourse on the radio is a mental stimulation that reaches milions of people every day. I've never heard of anybody on either side of the spectrum that listens in to get their marching orders for the day but I know most people who listen chose to listen to other people validate their ideas. Nobody makes people choose what they listen to, it's based on personal prefrences.

Judging by the coments made by desu I can only guess he's one of the people who have their bass so loudy the whole car vibrates and you can hear them a block away. But then it's his hearing. And yes, desu, since I've completed my drive by posting I'm going to have some coffee and hit the road to work and do my small part to keep the economy running.

wow - clever
Dumb as a red brick but clever. You should do some research before you make these claims. In fact, research shows that the listeners of talk radio happen to be above average intelligence. Lower intelligence listeners tend to listen to music radio. What listeners tune in for is the debate that presents the facts and lets listeners draw their own conclusions and form their own opinions.

Just because you want conservatives to be dumb does not make it so. Just because you want to appear smart obviously does not make it so.

Liking Talk Radio
Like most people, I listen to the talkers intermittently because I like to hear them say what I feel. I get only a very little new info from Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, etc., but I sure do like most of what they say. Politicians of all sorts probably do not personally like talk radio since it exposes many faults, lies, and stealing by all political parties. Talk radio combined with the internet is a powerful duo and I would not be surprised if Hitlery and Co. do not put a lid on them.

For those
Who claim that "right wing" talk radio is the home of those who only go over the top for shock value and to whip up the masses...I suggest that you take an unvarnished review of the leftist web sites (DU, KOS, HuffPost, GroupNewsBlog) et al that not only feed a daily nonstop screed to the true carriers of seething blind hatred, but listen to those "mainstream" lib radio stations when they call for snipers, play sound cuts of weapons being loaded or fired while discussion conservatives. Wasn't it Alec Baldwin who called for Ken Starr and his family to be stoned to death on national television?
While recovering fron spinal surgery I joined several left websites. Mostly to refute the ignorant discussions about nilitary issues that the posters had no knowledge of. In nearly every case I was "bannished" in less than a day. Yes, a very tolerant bunch those libs.
But go to a conservative site and you see Lilly, touj, hald, robert, and the like every day despite the hate and discontent they are here to sow.

Well
USMC makes a good point about the negative effects of the over saturated media. At some point this avalanche of opinion, on both sides, does not contribute anything useful or productive to the national debate. It's motivated by ego on the part of the "opinion journalists" - they don't want to report the news, they want to be stars. They want attention. If entertainers are told to "shut up and sing" then shouldn't we also tell these self-proclaimed "journalists" to "shut up and report the news"?

desu
Guess it's time for some of you to drink your coffee and drive to work

Some day when you get older you too will have a job to go to.

By the way your mom needs her pc back, so you better sign off.

surprised you can read desu
compare talk radio to books you have read, you read what you enjoy, you listen to what you enjoy, reading provides viewpoints you will not get from not reading, this provokes THINKING, talk radio is the same, listen to lib radio(if you can find it, NPR) you'll find yourself reading Koontz, listen to conservative radio, it stimulates thought, I notice you are spending your time at TH, why? good luck buddy.

Desu
So, let me get this straight. Your last missive claims that conservatives (surely not liberals) who listen to talk radio are stupid and/or brainwashed because Rush Limbaugh doesn't provide news. That's hilarious. Your low opinion of everyone who disagrees with you is typical of your ilk though. Thanks for joining in just to insult everyone without making a real point about anything. Nice try though.

FEAR ! ! !
FEAR is the left's biggest problem with talk radio. They FEAR that those on the right might combine their efforts and out talk the left.
LEFTIES Get your act togeather and get on NPR....YOUR radio.
Stop your whining!
WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF????

Banishment - Both Left and Middle
I've never shirked from expressing myself fully, so I've had the occasion to be banished from a number of sites. Just change providers, get a new IP and wade back into the fray.

Incidentally, I was also a commenter on a moderate/neocon site (lucianne.com) and was quite critical of President Bush in his immigration policy. A moderator came on and stated that they wanted to be very clear, their site supported President Bush. I didn't change my tone, and after two more posts over a day's period, I could no longer log into the comment section.

That said, desu is helpful in that he provides us with that confirmation that yes, the left is out there, stoopid as ever, and the need continues to refute them with facts and intelligence at every turn of their wormy little mind.

desu
Is that you miss rhodes? Its a little early to be drinking isn't it? Or does your show start soon?

Response
"THINKING, talk radio is the same, listen to lib radio(if you can find it, NPR) you'll find yourself reading Koontz, listen to conservative radio, it stimulates thought"

No, it doesn't stimulate thought, that's the problem. Having a discussion with another person (like we are doing now) stimulates thought. Passively listening to someone else talk (especially while you are driving because while immersed in an activity like driving you are especially susceptible to suggestion, subconscious or otherwise) just means you will repeat the things you hear (i.e. parrot them). I can always tell when I'm debating someone who listens to talk radio because I recognize that they are REPEATING things they've heard on talk radio.

"So, let me get this straight. Your last missive claims that conservatives (surely not liberals) who listen to talk radio are stupid and/or brainwashed because Rush Limbaugh doesn't provide news."

There is no liberal talk radio, NPR is so mild and nonoffensive in tone it's built on an entirely different model. It's a strictly conservative phenomenon. There really is something about cons that they need someone else to tell them what to think.

Don't you get it? We're not jealous of you guys because conservative talk radio prospered and liberal talk radio failed. I am proud of liberals for rejecting that mind suck.

UncleB - Ha ha, sure...I am real afraid of someone who can't use spelling and grammar.

DESU
Sorry I'll use ebonics so you understand next time. I understand you libs are a bit ....SLOW. Thats obvious since y'all cant get your radio thing working

Desu
You still have not explained why liberal talk radio hasen't caught on inspite of numerous attempts? You made a throw away comment about liberals not needing to be fed what to think but you must have a better explaination then that.

Is it because so much of the mainstream media as well as schools, universities, newspapers etc have a corner on the market of liberal ideas? Is it because conservatives only have talk radio and Fox news? Is it because the latest attempt by Al Franken and Garafalo etc. was mostly name calling anger rather then news commentary?

A sincere attempt to explain would be appreciated in place of accusations of low intellience and mindless empty headed need to be fed our opinions.

Wrong, Desu
You've got it wrong, Desu: it's evil Arabs and dirty libs. Next time before posting take a bath. Great Americans all: Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Rusty Humphrey, Mark Levin, etc. Conservative talk radio is growing exponentially, and we will bury the lying left with a flood of truth.

Free Ramos and Compean
Global warming is sphere nonsense

Too funny.
Yeah, desu, just because we don't need to be dazzled by pretty lights to hold our attention for a whole 4 seconds...that means we're all stupid.

You dolts glue your eyes to left wing propaganda machine that is the "nightly network news". It's nothing but a collection of 7 second soundbites, silly pictures, and Katie Courric's cleavage. And even THAT barely holds the attention span of your average Howard Dean drone.

Oh, but becauce we on the right prefer something more than 7 second soundbites -- we instead want actual in-depth analysis of important issues -- WE'RE the idiots! What a laugh!

Kooky commie talk radio has failed DOZENS of times simply because those on the left are simply not smart enough to want anything other than their 7 second soundbites and dazzling lights, and that, kiddo, is a DEMONSTRABLE fact.

Another non-issue
As long as anyone -- right wing, left wing, completely down the middle -- can get enough NON-TAXPAYER support for putting his views out into public (whether it be radio, TV, Internet, newspaper, magazine) to continually do so, then he or she has the right in this country to expound his views. Regardless of what people like Desu think. Regardless of what anyone thinks.

It's not a matter of who listens and how intelligent or not intelligent they are. This is a free country. Whether your preference is Sean Hannity of DailyKos, it remains a free country. It is not -- at least not the last time I read the Constitution -- the role of the government to legislate how much time this view or that opinion gets and/or to accordance "balance" to the public media. Next thing you know, we'll have a freaking government agent walking the aisles of Barnes & Noble.

I personally think the Fairness Doctrine is a pile of hooey, initiated because one side of the political argument apparently can't sustain either enough financial support or listener/reader interest to garner and keep an audience. Oh, well.

So conservatives like to listen to talk radio and liberals don't. So what? Another non-issue.

Desu
You totally miss the point in your attacks on talk radio. You assume that all of the listeners blithely agree with everything said by Rush, et al. Your mistake is that unlike the liberal left, the second favorite opponent of conservatives is themselves. We love to argue amongst ourselves and can become very vehement in our disputes. We do not fall into lockstep thinking of any "Neocon Masters."

Instead, we do our own research and come to our own conclusions, some of which do agree with the common sense ideas of the Conservative Talk Radio hosts. You think we are brainwashed because our opinions do not match yours because it is you who have been brainwashed by the NeoLiberals into thinking the Giverment is the answer to every problem in the world.

Rush,Beck Etc.
I listen to these folks while on the puter.I get little snippits of news from these folks that doesn't make local or major networks. The problem libs have with these guys as it shows their double standards.Liars and deniers I call them.

Loyal democrap
Loyal democrap writes:
Harmful speech is the same as hateful speech, and criticism of the policies of our rulers is both harmful and hateful. Since critical speech can potentially harm members of our society, it should be outlawed
Then I would suggest that the entire democrap party leadership should shut the fu@k up about George Bush and lthe war.
Loyal writes:Our rulers allow us the privilege to have a voice in who is elected, and it is the duty of the citizen to then let the ruler do as they see fit without interference. They allow US??? Elected officials work FOR US not the other way around.

Rebecca Hagelin
You forget, these are LIBERALS! FEELINGS are what counts, NOT RESULTS! Competition, Profit and Money are EVIL and BENEATH Liberals (Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, Clinton, Rockefeller). Outcomes should be Equal, NOT OPPURTUNITY! Then we can all hold hands, sing Kumbaya and Get High!

UncleB
OOOOPS!!!

You misunderstand Loyal Democrat. He's our resident satirist.

YLG
PHEW thanks. I considered sarcasm. But he sounded sincere.
Yo Loyal D....you're good.

desu is another libtard Soros Troll
You make fun of so-called conservatives falling in line with everything said on "talk radio".

Boy, that's rich considering libs do nothing but parrot every sound bite the left wing noise machine puts out. Non-stop libtard obsession with "talk radio" and FOX News proves my point.

Bwwahhh, talk radio is hate speech. Bwwaahh, Rush is evil, and so is O'Reilly. Bbwwaahh, daddy Soros, desu want another cracker.

Desu
Sorry but I don't have to be spoon fed anything. Yes I listen to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. I watch Fox news. But I also read my local paper(it tries to be balanced but tends to the left). Also USA Today, Time and Newsweek magazines. I will also watch NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and CNN to get what I may not get from Fox. Also MSNBC on the internet including their very left leaning Slate magazine. So I consider myself very well informed from a variety of sources left right and center thank you very much. It is this variety that the Fairness Doctrine would harm. Our First Amendment serves us very well if we don't mess with it. Good day to all.

I believe that...
at least one of the reasons there is no little audience for liberal talk shows is that the proponents of the leftist lies and propaganda already get most of their fill from the major network "news" programs.

Independent
Absolutely!!!! Whadda they mean they don't have any forums/outlets. How about abc cbs nbc msnbc cnn AND sometimes on FOX. FOX is fair and balanced. Mr O has liberals on all the time. "Course he cuts them down to size.
MMMM....I love the smell of fried liberals in the morning.

Independant Thinker
Good call. It's the choir being preached to...as usual.

Woody from Iowa

When did I defend the Fairness Doctrine?
I already said it's a stupid idea, impossible to implement in practice, and probably violates the first amendment. Although I am laughing my rear off at all the posters claiming they are not brainwashed by posting all the memes repeated on talk radio over and over - yeah I'm a libtard and dumbocrat, very clever and origial.

"Your mistake is that unlike the liberal left, the second favorite opponent of conservatives is themselves. We love to argue amongst ourselves and can become very vehement in our disputes. We do not fall into lockstep thinking of any "Neocon Masters."

Deornwulf this is a good point but I've had too many conversations with friends who listen to talk radio at which it's clear at a certain point in the conversation they've tuned out, stopped thinking and are just repeating talking points they hear on talk radio. The temptation is there - it's easy to use the words already there instead of coming up with their own. If the actual content of talk radio was more dynamic and fresh I wouldn't be saying this, but they literally repeat the same catchphrases, themes and talking points every day, and if you listen every day you will probably repeat it too. It's just repetition through blunt force.

It goes without saying I have little respect for people who parrot liberal or libertarian talking points either.

desu
Conservatives don't fear being considered "tools" by leftists. We have become inured to the lib version of "debate": name-calling. Liberals are largely incapable of framing logical arguments (if they can even define the term), so their "arguments" seem like something that might be written on a bathroom wall.

I would propose that any "Fairness Doctrine" be applied to the left side of the political spectrum: the major media. This would open a HUGE can of worms.

Every day, the Media Research Center offers a free email detailing blatant MSM bias (conservatives are almost always identified as such, while leftists are not labeled), while providing transcripts to back up their summaries of the issues at hand. ("Libs Say the Darnedest Things")

I'm still waiting for John Kerry to come up with his military record as falsely promised, which might help us understand why he was honorably discharged during the Carter admin, years after our departure and the liberal congress cut off of funding for the South Vietnamese, resulting in wholesale slaughter, and after he had served during the Nixon admin before Nixon was elected.

It's not that liberals lie, but they do so in such a blatant fashion...while the liberal MSM ignores the vast majority of them (so many to choose from!) while their market shrinks.

From your many posts, I would suggest it is YOU who is a "tool." And you're certainly not a Craftsman.

Anti-American.
The so-called Fairness Doctrine is anti-American and anti-constitutional and anyone who has sworn to uphold the Constitution who supports the "Fairness Doctrine" deserves to be shot as a traitor.

EWOK
I'll buy the bullets.

Fairness Envy?
Let's apply the Fairness Doctrine to all the different types of media and see how loudly the liberals/socialists squeal.

I bet they're looking at Hugo Chavez's crackdown of the Venezuelan media right now with envy.

Venezuela
I'll bet desu is really sean penn or danny glover or harry belafonte in disguise

Desu = WRONG
"Passively listening to someone else talk...just means you will repeat the things you hear (i.e. parrot them). I can always tell when I'm debating someone who listens to talk radio because I recognize that they are REPEATING things they've heard on talk radio."

First of all how do you recognize this unless you, too, are listening to talk radio and memorizing what you hear? Do you even do any research on what you hear or do you just mark it down in your ledger of "things I heard on conservative radio" so if anyone brings it up you'll know and you can laugh about it versus actually participating in a debate with the person?

I listen to Rush sometimes, and I don't repeat the things I hear. Many times I disagree with him, sometimes I agree with him, other times he brings information to light that I wasn't aware of, or that I want to investigate later, which I do, and sometimes I find that I disagree with him or that he hasn't told the whole truth.

The other thing Desu, if someone repeats something that's similar to something a radio host says, is that so wrong? What if you learned about how the minimum wage hurts poor people rather than helps them, and you have facts to back it up, that you learned from Rush's show when Walter Williams filled in for him? The facts are correct, and Walter Williams presented great information to support his arguments. I did some more research on the subject and found that what Walter Williams said was correct and made much sense. What's wrong with using that information, and learning from it, when debating others on the topic?

Now turn off the radio get back to work
The Fairness doctrine will never pass.
Mush Limbaugh and Sean Vannity will never be taken off the air. Lighten up RH!
The rest of us are too busy too care. We have to make up for the 15 million or so people who are screwing off listening to talk radio all day!!!
That's why there are no successful Liberal talk shows.
If liberals were going to screw off, they would call in sick and watch TV all day anyway!

Independent thinker
Great post, thinker. I actually thought about that, but what you say about liberals already having most of the news networks deliver their marching orders to them makes a lot of sense.

Liberals are such a JOKE
During the Illegal immigration debate, Talk radio was coming down on all stations attacking both Demonrats and Republicans, whomever was for the comprehensive immigration scam Congress was attempting to ram down our throats, including George Bush. If Talk Radio was bias to the right exclusively as the MSM is towards the Left, this would never had happened. In fact, there are numerous incidents where Talk Radio hosts have been blatantly obvious in going after Republicans who was not supporting the Conservative views on the issues. I believe all or most of these shows mentioned in other comments all called for Larry Craig's resignation. Liberals will lie, cheat, and will do almost anything, including violating our first admendment or any other rights granted by our Constitution and Bill of Rights to maintain and increase their power. Hence, Demonrats, otherwise called Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, Communists, Scumbags, etc are America's Greatest Threat Today in relationship to our Freedoms and our Way of LIFE. Don't waste your time attempting to debate these Socialists, they have been programmed into parrotting the Agenda of the Left and have really forgotten how to formulate ideas and debate the issues, any issues, all they do is parrot false data that appears to strengthen their statements. Have you noticed that most all of the facts they spout can be negated by research demonstrating another misrepresentation of the facts. Case in Point, Hillary stating recently about the situation of the economy prior to Bill taking over and after Bill left office. Her facts are wrong and misleading. By definition, another lie of the Demonrats that the MSM won't address. The MSM has blatantly mislead the masses and no longer has the trust of the people, another reason why Talk Radio and Conservative sites are prospering.

desu:
I hope you appreciated the unique event today:

CNN fails to properly conduct a presidential debate and the bloggers are on them in a New York minute providing documentation of collusion with democrat operatives. By noon, talk radio had promulgated the truth about the debate to all America.
