Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Four children including two brothers were killed, and 12 others were hospitalized with injuries, in Minnesota last week when a van reportedly ignored a stop sign and barreled into a school bus. The driver of the van, who did not speak English or have a valid drivers license, was charged with homicide.

Authorities described the driver as an illegal immigrant using a phony name. She had pled guilty in 2006 for driving without a license.

For years, courts and lawyers have intimidated towns from protecting themselves against the invasion of illegal immigrants. In 2006, Escondido, Calif., backed away from its housing ordinance to curtail leases to illegal immigrants and even agreed to pay $90,000 in legal fees to plaintiffs challenging the law.

Last summer, a federal court slapped down an attempt by Hazleton, Pa., to penalize employers and landlords who hire and lease to illegal immigrants. Hazleton had been hit by an influx of illegal immigrants and victimized by some of their shocking crimes.

But in August, Newark, N.J., no stranger to violence, was shaken by the brutal murder of several college-bound teenagers who were harmlessly enjoying music at a playground. The victims were black, and the perpetrator was an illegal immigrant from Peru who had been previously charged with raping a 5-year-old girl but had been released despite his obvious illegal presence in this country.

Another imported crime is driving the wrong way on highways, with headlights turned off, in order to escape detection while smuggling drugs or people. Several deadly crashes resulting from this practice have been reported.

The American people's outrage at violations of the law by illegal immigrants was heard loud and clear by the U.S. Senate when it defeated the amnesty bill last year. Now, even judges may be getting the message.

In December, a federal judge in Oklahoma upheld an Oklahoma law requiring state contractors to determine and verify the immigration status of new hires. U.S. District Judge James H. Payne threw out a legal challenge to the law.

In January, U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber emphatically ruled against illegal immigrants who had sued to overturn a similar ordinance enacted by Valley Park, Mo., a town near St. Louis. The court upheld the ordinance, which was directed at employers who were hiring illegal immigrants.

The third strike against illegal immigrants came in February when U.S. District Judge Neil V. Wake rejected each and every argument challenging a new Arizona law that imposes penalties on businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants. He dismissed the claim that federal law somehow ties the hands of state and local governments seeking to protect their own citizens.

These three decisions in three different parts of the country included both Republican- and Democratic-appointed judges. In the term loved by the mainstream media, there is now bipartisan judicial support for state and local legislation against illegal immigrants.

University of Missouri at Kansas City Law professor Kris Kobach says these decisions give "a green light to other communities" seeking to pass similar ordinances.

Hazleton, Pa., Mayor Lou Barletta vigorously supported his city's ordinance cracking down on illegal immigrants. Despite being vilified by liberal Pennsylvania newspapers, he won nearly 95 percent of the vote in his Republican primary for re-election last year.

But that wasn't all. In the same election, Barletta also won the Democratic nomination on a write-in vote, defeating the leading candidate in the Democratic primary by a stunning 2-to-1 margin.

In the Arizona case, the court noted the research of George Borjas, an economist at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, who concluded that hiring illegal immigrants depresses wages for legal workers because illegals accept lower pay without benefits. Those hardest hit are uneducated legal workers, who in Arizona alone lost $1.4 billion in 2006 in the form of lower wages.

The nine months between now and the November election give states, cities and towns ample time to do what Congress has failed to do: protect U.S. citizens against the lawless entry of illegal immigrants. That means penalizing employers who hire illegal immigrants and landlords who lease to them.

It is long overdue for public officials to rid the United States of imported crimes and to stand up for legal workers, especially the poorly educated ones who need an entry-level job to start building their lives. Now that a green light has been provided by the courts, states and cities should proceed full steam ahead to protect their citizens from illegal immigrants.

A good start...
"It is long overdue for public officials to rid the United States of imported crimes and to stand up for legal workers, especially the poorly educated ones who need an entry-level job to start building their lives."

I think that it is long overdue for the US to rid itself of all illegal aliens. I also agree with Tancredo that we should have a moritorium on all immigration. Nobody has yet to convice me that we need to import more people into this country.

It is very good to see that more than one case of precedent has been set against illegal aliens suing Americans. You have to wonder how the casees even got to the decision phase. They should have been thrown out upon filing.

So Very Simple
Phyllis has hit it on the head. EMPLOYERS/LANDLORDS. Fine them big-big. Crimimal prosecution-jail time. We the people (me anyway) would be more than willing to pay a few cents more for product or service if it meant fewer to no illegals here. Pay more to honest employers, less to crooked-on-the-take politicians. HUMM! Not a difficult choice for me.

It's about time
If the events described in this article really are an indicator of how and where things are going in regards to illegal aliens, then I say it's about time.

Illegals cost too much
I am very much in favor of LEGAL immigration - one of the things that keeps the US a world leader in technology and in the pharmaceutical industry, etc., is the influx of highly skilled immigrants who get PhDs in engineering, science, etc. HOWEVER, unskilled, uneducated immigrants do not contribute to our society.

They take jobs away from unskilled Americans and depress wages for those on the lowest rung of our economic ladder. They are a net drain on our tax base, as they use a variety of social services while paying negligible taxes. They have a higher rate of out-of-wedlock and teen pregnancies.

We need to restrict immigration to make sure that the new immigrants can easily assimilate into American society. And we should encourage more highly skilled immigrants. But, mostly, we need to make sure we have LEGAL immigrants.

We should close our borders, and penalize employers that hire and landlords that rent to illegals. Any illegal caught committing a crime should be immediately deported.

We don't need more laws
What we need to do is to have the backbone to enforce the ones we have and to STRINGENTLY enforce said laws. If they are to leinient, then strengthen them. Fine the employers, fine the landlords HEAVILY and in conjunction with that, offer to WITHOUT penalty transport the illegals who are then out of work BACK to where they come from "free of charge" Deport those who won't go voluntarily and what we will have is an open market for LEGAL workers in this country that is devoid of the kinds of problems we are encountering today. Devoid of about having to INCREASE the prison populations with these people (about a third of the prison population is such states a Kalifornia)....We would not have the rising costs of education, the need for such insistence on bi-lingual education, the need to deal with overcrowed hospitals and sprialing costs of health care..and the savings to the WE THE PEOPLE will far outweigh the initial cost to do what our legislators and enforcement agencies should have been doing all along. And to the bleeding heart liberals who want to pander to this and the Obamas who want to take our tax dollar ship it overseas and subsidize other so-called poor nations INTERNATIONAL WELFARE I say YOU do and you will be fired. Welfare has not solved a darned thing and caused more problems than we can solve. Ignoring the "Unarmed invasion of this nation" will only cause us all to lose our autonomy and eventually, just as water seeks the LOWEST level, we will all be equal. Equally poor and forever dependent on mommy and daddy government until IT RUNS out of people to tax.

I agree with the article but...
I just don't get the deporting. These people can easily make their way back across the border after not being punished for any crime. And go onto commiting more crimes as this article shows. Shouldn't their be a minimum incarceration and work for free penalty where these hard working people can help rebuild our roads or whatever else needs to be done before turning them back? I know it's politically incorrect and will probably not happen anytime soon. But I'm sure it could be a rapid deterrent for entering this country w/o papers.

unlikely
It is hard to imagine anyone thinking that driving on the wrong side of the road without lights is a way to avoid detection. On any road with traffic one would simply be putting oneself in people's headlights while screaming arrest me. I suppose the exception would be divided highways with no traffic and with police watching only one side of the highway. That seems a problem that is easily fixed.

There is a serious issue in Schafely's column, namely how states should deal with the failures of the federal government at keeping illegal immigrants out of the country.

But her seriousness is undercut by her beginning with a fear-mongering, the illegals are out to get you section. After all, there are huge numbers of deadly car accidents in this country. The anecdotal evidence Schafely provides does not even begin to establish that illegal immigrants are a significant portion of that problem. And, of course, that is not the problem addressed in the court cases she mentions.

Instead she simply abandons the rationale for taking her seriously on the serious issue with the stupid fear mongering as the lead in. It doesn't help in making a serious argument to begin by making clear that you do not trust your ability to convince people on the basis of that argument, and need hystrionics instead.

Illegals
There is some evidence that when existing laws are enforced, illegals "self deport" themselves. We need to keep up the pressure on judges and legislatures because when one state waffles, illegals move into it from other states that are getting tough. Just last night I heard a hospital adminsitrator in the Houston Medical Center emergency rooms say that we are up to $2 BILLION costs being borne by local Taxpayers. That's not right!

Lon
You have it all wrong. This article is not about fear mongering against illegal immigrant as much as against the ACLU and it attacks against communities who attempt to protect themselves against the damage caused by illegal immigrants. Not just the crime but he damage to local services that low income illegal immigrants bring to a community.

Come now, Lon
Hystrionics? Try histrionics. It would be a comforting thought if I could be there when childish liberal, communist, like you, get smacked in the kisser with reality. 20 million illegals is a real problem. There are reportedly 800,000 in our jail systems right now (what cost? try $15+ billion!) Our schools are screaming for more money, never considering removing the illegal children that we must educate. People need to come in legally, or stay and fix their own country.

BS
When I see something being done not just talked about then and only then will I believe these people. An illegal killed my cousin and her unborn baby 2 yrs ago. NO DRIVERS LICENSE, NO PASSPORT,NO NOTHING, NO INSURANCE. what is sad that in Fl if you have a drivers license and own a vehicle you have to have insurance and if you dont have insurance they are suppose to cancell your drivers license. Well that doesnt always work. We are dying daily from ILLEGALS and who cares? Obviously it isnt our POLITICIANS for they only want to make them citizens so they can vote. If you think that they care you are smoking some good sh't

Our #1 Issue
This is the greatest issue facing our Republic. All other problems that we have are linked to this one issue. The very existence of our Republic at stake and we must deal with this NOW!

We need to enforce the laws on the books and go after people who hire and house Illegals. Take away welfare and any other form of benifits. Make English our official language. Require a valid ID to vote. Refuse Citizenship to children born on US soil by Illegals. Do not build a fence but rather hold Mexico responsible for encouraging the passive invasion by withholding any aid and cutting back on trade.

THIS IS THE GREATEST ISSUE CURRENTLY FACING OUR REPUBLIC!!! OUR VERY EXISTENCE IS AT STAKE!!!

Thanks for some good news
Thank you also for fighting the good fight for Americans all these years, Phyllis.

Star Parker's column mentioned that real wages for those with high school educations (or less) hadn't increased since 1964. The massive influx of illegal immigrant competition has really hurt those Americans.

Lon really
Feal mongering? Come on.

"After all, there are huge numbers of deadly car accidents in this country. The anecdotal evidence Schafely provides does not even begin to establish that illegal immigrants are a significant portion of that problem. "

Your right we do have auto accidents, but some ARE caused by illegals. An accident caused by an Illegal alien can be avoided simply by the lack of their presence, thereby saving a life. Personally, if an illegal is going to kill someone, could you please send YOUR family member to be the one killed, so mine has a better chance since you seem to want illegals here.

While im here, Comprehensive Immigration reform?
We proccesed in near a million legals last year, Thats not a broken system, it's an impressive system. What is broken is the enforcement of our current immigration laws.

No-one minds legal immigration, but only the nanny staters seem to like illegals....

Illegal means illegal, NO ONE has a RIGHT to come to America. Everyone has a right to ASK to come..

My 2c

The Kennedy Legacy:
The Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965. "Camelot" came at a higher price than most Americans now realize. Though JFK opened the gates of the mental hospitals and the US Borders with good intentions, the results of these "reforms" are far from benign.

Each school, or "gun free zone" shooting is the direct result of Kennedy's "Community Mental Health Centers Act of 1963". The pressure on affordable housing is the result of the Immigration Act of 1965.

It takes a long time for the consequences of well-intended, but flawed, legislation to take on its final malignant form. These residual laws from the Kennedy era need to be reviewed for the unintended harm that they are causing now, some 40+ years later.

I AM, I SUPPOSE, NOT A NICE PERSON
That being said, I beg to announce that I have the right to my opinions. Most of the time I have the right to express them. Others have the same right, and I respect that.

I did not read Ms. Schlafly's entire column. The title and the first few lines were enough for me to give her five stars as usual.

Now, here is my opinion: the nation would be better off if all illegal immigrants were deported to their countries of origin. Don't give me that stuff about lettuce dying in the field because there's nobody to harvest it; most of our fruits and vegetables derive from foreign countries anyway. (Try to buy a can of pineapple even canned in the U.S.)

My opinion derives from watching my nation on the brink of going belly-up because of many of the economic strains put upon her because of illegal aliens.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Another view on the "legals" ---
Shefali says:
"I am very much in favor of LEGAL immigration - one of the things that keeps the US a world leader in technology and in the pharmaceutical industry, etc., is the influx of highly skilled immigrants who get PhDs in engineering, science, etc. HOWEVER, unskilled, uneducated immigrants do not contribute to our society."

My husband is one of the Americans whose tech job has now been taken by these "welcome" legal immigrants. These individuals are often willing to work for far less than Americans, just for the opportunity to remain here. In the case of MDs, their pre-medical education has been whoppingly less expensive than what American-grown doctors have to pay. Sometimes these immigrants stay with the sponsorship of companies that essentially hold them indentured, threatening that that their visas will be lost if they look for other employment. Consider, too, that they come from countries often in far greater need of the skills they now possess. I know of one PhD in water purification technology who now lives in Malibu (where toilets are practically filled with Evian), while in his Mexican home town, people still drink water full of coliform bacteria. Is it ethical for the United States to deplete less developed countries of their "think tanks"? Is it fair to drive down American wages artificially?

I'm with Tancredo. Let's put a halt on this until we've been able to reasonably assimilate those who are here, without disadvantaging honest Americans who need to make a living.

Self Deport
The laws are knowingly hire or knowingly rent, etc. Fake documents are easy to get so until the US joins the 21st century and creates and requires a national ID card which is biometricly based as well as a biometric Green Card and a biometric alien workers card (for those allowed to work in the US but are not US citizens or permanent residents )until then, the illegals will simply use fake documents and no employer will not hire someone just because he suspects the person is illegal because if he is wrong he'd be sued into bankruptcy by the DOJ and various ethnic advocay organizations.

Of the 1 million illegals that enter each year, less than 200,000 leave on a permanent basis. The "self deportation" trend is more related to the slowdown in the housing market than any laws whose enforcement ability is dubious at best.

When the housing market becomes robust again, the decline of "self deportation" will follow as well.

Yes
"The Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965. "Camelot" came at a higher price than most Americans now realize. Though JFK opened the gates of the mental hospitals and the US Borders with good intentions, the results of these "reforms" are far from benign."

Repealing racist laws is such an awful thing.

Self-deportation
would occur in large numbers if the Crawfish Party Platform 2008 were to be enacted. High penalties including prison time for employers that hire illegals, no benefits at all for illegals, including healthcare, sanctuary cities losing every federal dollar that's supposed to be coming into them and the companies that are there.....
Come on by my blog to see the whole thing.

"Bipartisan judicial support"
How in the world did we get here? If the constitution is the constitution and means what it says, then the adjective "bipartisan" cannot be used to describe the noun "judicial". I guess this is where our "living constitution" has taken us. Frankly, that phrase is the scariest thing in Phyllis' article.

All Pres. Candidates want Anmesty SOOO!
What kind of judges do we think they will appoint-AMNESTY Judges.

Since our Federal Government is NOT going to stop this INVASION, we have to do it at the LOCAL Level-the Courts be Dam#@D.

Voting Huckabee Tomorrow in Texas then

WRITING A NAME IN in NOVEMBER--McAMNESTY will not get my support EVER!!!!!

Another view on the "legals" ---
There is also this way to ensure all laws are observed: http://www.yessy.com/quadzool/index.html?i=24073&s=xqjfdp5 5deiz5s45td51vxu4
If that were the case, there would be no illegal immigrants.

Crawdad
"High penalties including prison time for employers that hire illegals, no benefits at all for illegals, including healthcare, sanctuary cities losing every federal dollar that's supposed to be coming into them and the companies that are there....."

How do you expect for employers to know who is legal and who is not when fake documents abound and employers fear not hiring someone because of discrimination law suits? You want people to die in the streets and spread disease instead?

The vast majority of llegals (as well as legal immigrants) don't come to the US for benefits, but to work at a higher wage than their host country would provide them. They both take less services than do the native born. So cutting services won't necessarily have a huge impact on illegal migration.

Yeah
"Voting Huckabee Tomorrow in Texas then"

He was really against illegals when he was the governor of Arkansas now wasn't he?

Akagi
Your comment "Repealing racist laws is such an awful thing.", tells me more about you than you realize. You "assume" I am racist because I condemn Kennedy's ill-conceived immigration reform, yet my wife is a "minority" and is not a US citizen. My daughter has dual citizenship. Dare infer "racist" now, Akagi? The crux of the issue is not who has immigrated, but how many. The answer is too many, to fast. If you're not a racist, then you have a single ethnic group agenda. Which is, on its own, a form of racism.

Once again--
We live in a border state and last week we early voted. Our paper ballot still had Duncan Hunter
as one of the candidates. Yes we voted for him with pride, and we know many others did too. He and Tom Tancredo are correct about this illegal alien crisis. We unfortunatly live in a sancturary city and we see the spread of these criminals. Mrs. Schlafly has an excellent article as usual.
I say this again to any liberal whining apologists for these criminal illegal aliens, Send us a large quarterly money order to help defray the rising taxes imposed on us here for the education, medication, nutrition, incarceration, and many other social services given to these illegal punks.
Another point: last week a friend of ours (a former Marine) sent us a shocking list of the expenses caused by these illegals, it listed 14 points, with URL's for verilfication. The cost
338 Billion per year nation wide.
Another point, these illegals should be protesting in mass to the leaders of their respective countries. More later,
B.N. Svara

Akagi
I agree that a national ID card is needed, with biometrics. It should also be mandatory to vote.

Svara
I think GunnyG had that list on his blog within the past couple of weeks. He's at http://noliberalspin.blogtownhall.com

Do the Math, Not Enough Room
Of the 6 billion plus people on the earth, it is estimated that half would like to come to American if they could. I certainly cannot blame them.

However, we do not have room for 3 billion people in this country. Our current 300 million seems plenty, especially in states like California. We can only let in a small percentage, so we need to choose them, not let the closest neighbor overwhelm us with their society's rejects.

How is it not
The 1965 law repealed the National Origins Act of 1924 which banned entire regions of the world from immigrating, strictly limited the number of other groups (i.e. the Italians) while at the same time allowing for almost unrestricted immigration of northern Europeans which made up 86% of the total quota. If you don't see the 1924 law as racist--to its very core, then you have an odd understanding of the term. I didn't say you were racist either. I said " yes repealing racist laws is a bad thing" and the 1924 law was definately that.

And the 1965 act was the child of Emanuel Celler, but Kennedy was a strong supporter of the reform.

And you do
Mark R:

The US only admits 1 million a year which is far lower than Canada or Australia does on a per capita basis. The problem isn't with the few (by comparison) legal immigrants, but the illegal ones. And just because 1/2 want to come, doesn't mean that 1/2 will come.

Backpedaling, Akagi?
"I didn't say you were racist either."

No, but you implied it with enough emphasis that left no doubt to your meaning!

You can insult the immigration policies of this country all the way back to Plymouth Rock. However, the fact remains that the immigration laws of America (first being 1862) were always in response to massive migrations of peoples from regions of the world where one race was predominate. Of course, this does beg the question of the racist traditions of the countries from which these "ethnic" migrants originated. But that's another argument.

So, play the "race card" all you want, those who know the facts and history, with no axe to grind, will fold their cards and leave the immigration game table. The chips in play in 1965 were political. The Kennedy's wanted more "Democrats", not more "Americans".

Akaqi
The vast majority of llegals (as well as legal immigrants) don't come to the US for benefits, but to work at a higher wage than their host country would provide them. They both take less services than do the native born

That is one of those statements that sounds good if you say it fast enough.
Its B.S.

First of all you have no way of proving what the vast majority of illegals do or dont do.
they use less services? Really, if they are here illegally and dont have health care where do they go for treatment?
The emergency room, thats where.
Could you please estimate for me how much it costs to pay for the medical care for 20 million people. Ok lets say half of them either dont go to the doctor or somehow have coverage.
How much is it for 10 million.
How much for the 25 to 30 % of the population in our jails that are illegal?
I will wait for your answers, but i wont be holding my breath.

Akagi & Emanuel Celler.
You're a name dropper and little else. Celler was against the 1924 immigration act, not because it was racists, but because it tended to exclude persons from regions of his own ancestral European origins. Furthermore, you leave out the fact that Emanuel Celler was a US Congressman and a Democrat. The stingy grist that you offer for your arguments is more than adequate fodder for any argument against.

1924
I never mentioned why he was for the 1965 act did I? I said it wasn't Kennedy's bill and it wasn't, it was Celler's although as I correctly pointed out Kenendy also supported it.

And I am not playing the race card, just stating a pure fact. If you think I am implied something that I didn't is not my problem. When you ban entire groups of people based soley because of race, that is racism. Just because you don't understand this fact doesn't make it not so.

And bostguy112:

Look at this for a start:

http://www.nilc.org/immspbs/research/imms&publicservices_20 06-9-12.pdf

http://www.publiceye.org/ark/immigrants/HealthWelfare.html

http://www.nydailynews.com/latino/2007/11/27/2007-11-27_ill egal_immigrants_not_us_health_care_bu-1.html

And I could go on and on. Now if you want to argue that illegal immigrants take more in services than they contribute in taxes that is another point and one I wasn't making. But you also can't look simply a cost of services v. taxes but the total amount of economic contributions against total costs to get a true sense of the costs or benefits. There are plenmty of studies on this point and the studies aren't conclusive, some argue that illegals cost more than they contribute and others the opposite, but the use of services by illegals (and legal immigrants) is much less than by US citizens and that is well demostrated by various studies.

Oh and bucko
"No, but you implied it with enough emphasis that left no doubt to your meaning!"

So you are a mind reader too? What other skills do you have that we here at TH aren't aware of?

Maybe bend forks with your mind? See through walls? Does the circus know about you yet?

Interesting Article, But...
What country was it written about?

Certainly not the United States, where the only candidates running for President are pro-amnesty and pro-illegal alien.

illegals destroy our nation
not enough "ENFORCEMENT" against criminal
illegals

when your kids are not raped, murdered, brutalized by the criminal illegals easy for you to say, they should stay and have benefits that
US citizens do not have:

they destroy our nation
our medical care system
our culture
our economy
our environment
deplete our treasury
and then rape, beat, slaughter, murder, our kids

Three Steps To End Illegal Emigration
1. Punish employers who hire illegals.

2. Punish employers who hire illegals.

3. Punish employers who hire illegals.

VOTE out all PRO Illegal Judges
This is the year

to clean out our judical system from bottom
to top:

check the record of every judge up for election
see what they record on illegals is and then

VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE if there is a
hint they are PRO ILLEGALS
or Anti Military
or anti USA

Cost taxpayer $100,000 yr per illegal
LOW wages, giggle

it costs the taxpayer $100,000 per year per
illegal family!

free health care
free education
free legal services
court costs
law enforcement costs
welfare
clean up the environment after them
strain on utilities, etc.
etc.

sure they may work for lower wages but the
State and Feds use our tax dollars to give them
free health care, free education, free legal
services, welfare, etc.

Illegals
"not enough "ENFORCEMENT" against criminal
illegals"

EXACTLY! And that is exactly what you get when you go after pinestraw spreaders instead of MS13 and the local criminals. And when you use the police in community X to start doing immigration enforcement that community stops helping the police solve crimes...and that criminal may not restrict his activities to the illegal population, so it would be in your interest to have the cooperation and have the police target dangerous criminals instead of Jose the pinestraw spreader.

And as for destroying:

"our nation"

That is a matter of opinion

"our medical care system"

Studies refute this

"our culture"

Another opinion

"our economy"

Few of the economic woes facing the US can be blamed on illegals.

"deplete our treasury

George Bush has done a good job of that on his own, he didn't need any help from the illegals.

"and then rape, beat, slaughter, murder, our kids"

Some yes, most no and it is the some you need to be going after, because you don't have the political will, money or tools to go after them all.

Speak "SPANISH" costs US Billions
the requirement that everything be published
in Spanish by every company, business, service organization, every governmental agency local, state, Federal,
the schools, etc.

It costs the US taxpayers billions to accomodate the illegals who have won in the demand that everything be presented in SPANISH

Illegals
"Three Steps To End Illegal Emigration

And how do you plan to do this since even a employer working in good faith has little ability to know who is legal or not since so many fake documents abound. You need a biometric based ID card and just try to get that passed and see the black helicopter crowd team up with the civil liberties and ethnic advocay groups.

Nonsense
"the requirement that everything be published

There is no requirement that businesses produce anything in Spanish--they do so because they are smart. There realize there is a market in the Spanish-speaking community and having labels, store signs and the like help the tap into that market, same reason you see English in Taiwan and Japan. Of course Japan and Taiwan aren't paranoid about other languages.

No one is running around saying English is destroying our culture.

grief:

what has congress done about its obligations ?
energy::: nothing
stop waste fraud and abuse::: nothing
stop illegals from fleecing this nation:: nothing
education::: nothing except promote speak spanish
etc.

YOU ELECT losers then blame the President who has zero powers over spending, making laws, etc.

Bush
Federal Judges are appointed by the President and then confirmed by the Senate, only judges in some states are elected. And the President has a great deal of power over spending...it is called the veto!

Bush supported NCLB, Medicare Prescription, the amnesty bill "see you at the bill signing..." recall that Bush line? And on and on and on. Right blame the Senate and the House. Remember Truman's line, the Buck Stops Here?

the REAL threat to America
There is hand-wringing in some quarters about fear of terrorism. Folks, the truly pernicious threat to America's socio-economic survival is storming across the border like a tsunami. the concern is not about race, but instead about poverty and ignorance. America needs EDUCATED, skilled LEGAL immigrants, but it CANNOT AFFORD the ilk which is flooding across the border. They permeate social pathologies like a cancer, eventually ineluctably destroying the host body.

It is IMPERATIVE that we make our pols enforce existing laws which would lead to attritive repatriation of the invaders. If we do not, the left will give them the vote and permanent entitlement government will ensue, followed by the inflow of many millions of other poor, ignorant relatives. Heritage estimates that each such household will suck out $1.4 million more in net govt. services used alone over taxes paid-- once they actually pay taxes. Time is short... keep barraging Congress to support Congressman Shuler's SAVE Act and resist any semblance of scamnesty. You can reach them easily (a few clicks) right here:

Numbers USA is the leading advocacy group for prudent LEGAL immigration policies. Bookmark these and e-mail your reps and others often! America would be a terrible thing to waste!

It just happened--
Last week while at a local grocery store in the check out line, I was talking to a legal American and in front of us was a woman with several kids.
None of them spoke English, were loud, and also paid in food stamps. The person I was talking to and I among others commented on the fact that none of us could get food stamps etc. About this time a man in our line said to us "where is your compassion for these people, they are just here for a better life". We responded by telling this 24 carat whiner that we have compassion for the hard working legal Americans that pay the taxes for these parasites to receive these food stamps , have these kids, education, and many other social services. The whiner had no answer until we asked him "why don't you adopt all of them"? He said we were mean spirited. We booed him until he left. How do we know this woman was "illegal", well the whiner said she was "undocumented, and that we had no right to critisize her. By the way, Many bloggers here are right on the money in their opinions about our so called elected officials from the top on down to the local level.

We Need a Two-Tier System
Not every illegal comes here wanting citizenship. We need a way to let people in who want to work, then go back home after some arbitrary number of months or years.

I mention this because the "citizenship" issue keeps cropping up. Some of these folks don't WANT to be citizens. It's no wonder they're importing their home culture!

We need a tier for those on the citizen track, and another for those who just want jobs. Other nations, such as Singapore, do this with some success.

One reason people sneak in illegally, among others, is that we've made it too difficult to come in legally.

Ironically, the harder we make it, the more that sneak in. Historically, illegals would sneak in, do some seasonal job, then sneak back home. Then they'd sneak in again the next year. Now it's difficult enough to sneak in, plus there's no real penalty when caught, that many have decided just to stay here and take their chances. And not wanting to be citizens in the first place, they have no intentions of assimilating.

So what we need is an EASY way to come in, do a job for 6 months or 2 years or whatever, then go back home.

In the meantime, those who are caught here illegally should be penalized and deported. Then, with this plan in place, they can come back and be legal.

I mean, after all, that's the whole problem isn't it? Not that people are immigrating, but that they are immigrating illegally. Generally you don't see millions of people breaking a law unless there's something fundamentally wrong with the law.

Millions of people do not systematically drive on the wrong side of the road or hack people's arms off with machetes. Those laws make sense. When we had a 55 mph speed limit, millions of people broke that law, until Congress finally got the message and repealed it.

If we can fix the laws, not repeal them, just make them work properly, perhaps we can solve the problem.

There's
another snag coming in the near future. Anyone hear about the Social Security Treaty out compassionate conservative president and the social security administration cobbled together
under the radar? It gives our social security
money to Mexicans who worked here illegally. Nice huh? It's not just the Republicrats, but the DemonRats getting together and conniving
against the American people.
I'm sick and tired of paying out to every place in the world, especially after today and finding out what we have to pay in income taxes, state, and federal plus what we got from social security (Hilly's hubby got that one through and our Republicrat majority didn't do a thing to reverse it when they had the chance, nor did they do anything about the Kelo land grab either)
So I'm not in a particularly good mood today,
I'd love nothing better than to have the American people smarten up and dump everyone of them out of their cushy jobs so they will have to work honestly for a change, instead of selling our country out to the highest bidder.

California got it right in '94
In 1994, Californians overwhelmingly passed Proposition 187, which could have stopped this illegal immigration mess dead in its tracks years ago (Google it for more details).

The bill, passed by nearly 59 percent of the state's voters and strongly backed by then-Gov. Pete Wilson, denied social services, health care and public education to illegals. It was called the "Save Our State" initiative -- and how true that could have been. It could have been a model for other states, too, and was way ahead of its time.

Unfortunately, it was overturned by a federal court. The loopy, liberal judges involved were the real villains; they ignored the will of the people before that term was even popular. So was racist then-state senator Art Torres, who infamously called it the "last gasp of white America in California." In 1998, nutty new Gov. Gray Davis dropped the state's appeal, probably because he felt the state was going to prevail. Remember, gotta watch out for Mexico first!

My point is, we simply have too many corrupt government officials and judges who answer only to special interests to ever fix this problem -- unless they all drop dead simultaneously. We can only hope, but it doesn't look good -- especially with the sea of open-borders crap up for president (i.e., Hillary, Obama, McCain). Plus, we have too many stupid voters nationwide (see Obamamania) to ever get anything useful accomplished on the issue. How we have three open-borders freaks still standing is beyond me.

I will, however, be trying to vote out California's open-borders weidos at the earliest opportunity -- i.e., Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Zoe Lofgren, Joe Baca, Sam Farr ... the list goes on. I'll be lobbying hard for family and friends to do the same. Everybody needs to vote every open-borders politician out of office before it's too late.

compare to canada???? not so much...
you can't compare US and canadian immigration policy.

Canada may take more... but they have a "point system" that takes into account education, speaking the native language (english or french or double points for both), and job experience. That way they get the skills that they need (not sure if they update hte pionts or not). We just let any swinging **** walk in while everyone looks the other way.

Loving that cheap lettuce....

No
Numbers USA is the leading advocacy group for unrealistic legal immigration policies and imply that they support the racist--yes it was racist--pre-1965 national origins system.

Canada
Canada also has an investment visa system that makes sense which is why more and more investor visa seekers seek Canada and not the US.

And "In 1994, Californians overwhelmingly passed Proposition 187" which is cited for the death of the GOP in that state as Pete Wilson became the poster boy for it and thus he and it took the GOP down like a millstone.

Akagi
America is a soverign nation...get over it. Foreigners are welcome on an "invitation only" basis...get over it. Illegal aliens contribute "nothing" to our society and suck social services like a baby on mom's breasts...get over it.

If you're an American, stand up for your country, its culture and heritage. If you're an illegal alien, go home!

Maybe non fear-mongering
Just total ignorance about the role of a federal judge. LOL

"The American people's outrage at violations of the law by illegal immigrants was heard loud and clear by the U.S. Senate when it defeated the amnesty bill last year. Now, even judges may be getting the message. "

Sounds to me like she thinks that federal judges, who are appointed for life, are seated where they are in order to adjudicate the will of the people (which, in this case, is a pretty pitiful minority) and not the laws as they apply to the constitution.

I'd say Phyllis needs a refresher course in Civics 101. Oh and btw, it's gonna be fun to watch the right ride the anti-immigration express enroute to their November train wreck.

Illegals
"Illegal aliens contribute "nothing" to our society..."

Actually they do. The debate if they cost more or benefit more is an open one with some studies saying they benefit the US economy more and some saying they cost it more.

"...and suck social services like a baby on mom's breasts...get over it."

This is untrue. Illegals use social services at a lower rate than US citizens, now as to if they pay more taxes than the services they use..well that is another question, but you can't use just tax payments as the only aspect you look at vis-a-vis positive contribution but all other economic inputs such as the value of their labor, cost savings to employers, cost savings to consumers, etc.

Akagi
Couldn't help but notice your 6:32 post. Illegals ABSOLUTELY run the cost for ALL social services at a variety of levels into the stratosphere.

ESL and special education has nearly bankrupted some districts- including the one I work in. At this point, we have had to cut out all AP courses and many honors in deference to the accommodation ESL programs.

Many illeagals work under the table, send money to family in their home countries, and go on social service benefits here. This is a common practice.

Look at any border state hospital- the ones that are left. There's just so much that can be absorbed- and baby after baby after baby after baby brings critical mass to a quick and decisive head.

You position that illegals use social services at a rate lower than US citizens is misleading. What you want to look at is what percentage of illegals utilize social services, period. In my saturated neck of the woods, its a huge percentage.

Then there's the gang activity- MS13, DDPs, Latin Kings, etc... There's a "contribution" to the neighborhood and criminal justice system we can do without. Yet another huge expense.

I work in the field, and can tell you not only don't, but are very far removed from the consequences of illegal immigration.

Another thing, Akagi
There are some behaviors that are incompatible with what WAS American life. Were our immigration policies "racist"? I'd say value and behavior focused. It was in our best interest to encourage educated people who share like values (until Ted Kennedy eviscerated our system all those years ago). Teen pregnancies, multiple babies that cannot be afforded, and limited skills and education are not compatible with prosperity . All values ARE NOT equal but different; as evidenced by the yielded results. Further, it is NOT incumbent upon the US taxpayer to continually absorb the choices of others, least of those of illegals. The "racist" banner has no truck here.

Here's more illegal "contribution"
We have a huge influx of Africans (in this case Nigerians) in the Newark/Orange area in NJ. Many social workers (usually the ones supported by wealthy husbands) are whining that we have to "bring their families here" (from Africa) and "get them on social security". They did admit that their refusal to use birth control is "troubling"- but fiddle-dee-dee, this IS America and we can just accommodate this blip in the situation.

reply to: Akagi
You would be better served not even to try to defend the so-called net contributions of ILLEGALS. I teach college econ... one need not look too sedulously to conclude that taxpayers are getting hammered by the costs to educate and provide "free" health care for ILLEGALS alone, and billions of dollars are flowing out of America instead of being spent or invested.

Shrillary and Barack both like to speak of the value of preventive health care, which is arguably desirable in theory. In stark contrast, most ILLEGALS of the border-crashing ilk (78% of total ILLEGALS per PEW) are plagued with health problems and have reintroduced diseases we had long since eradicated here.

re: "Illegals use social services at a lower rate than US citizens"

This is disingenuous apologia for ILLEGALS.
Legally, it is against the law for ILLEGALS to receive food stamps, welfare, etc., but many CLEARLY are already.

Economically, what we have here is a new homologue to slavery-- a relative few abuse a huge group of effectively captive ignorant labor, but the egregious concomitant socio-economic costs are then foisted upon the society writ large. The labor cost "savings" to process a chicken or clean a hotel room simply enrich Tyson Foods or the hoteliers-- BUT does NOT result in savings to the consuming public. However, the myriad associated costs ARE absorbed by Middle America, which explains why 75% oppose what the pols try to do for ethnocentric Hispanic groups and miscreant employer lobbies.

McLame Hater
From one Californian to another....Amen! I'm with you!

All social services in California have now outpaced all other services and ESL is leading the pack.

It also ought to be a crime what has been done to these immigrants. Without forcing them to assimilate and continually handing them crutches, which human nature in everyone would take, we keep them poor ignorant.

In the mean time one Californian town after another has become a crime riddled third world sewer and no amount of money is going to fix that. The next real problem is all of those that really pay taxes are leaving.

Lolo1
"It also ought to be a crime what has been done to these immigrants. Without forcing them to assimilate and continually handing them crutches, which human nature in everyone would take, we keep them poor ignorant."

This is the tragedy- lolo1. Many in my field believe that all cultural preferences should be "honored" and therefore supported. Want to have 9 kids? Fine- who are we to tell you how big a family to have. Need your entire family brought over? Its only right and fair to "preserve the family". Uncomfortable with English? We should be more "sensitive". On and on it goes. We are ALL quickly becoming ignorant, and will be poor in short order. I never planned on having 60 or so children, nor did you- I'd imagine- but the diversity stork has been very busy indeed.

the views of the body politic
The PC ilk, the MSM, ethnocentric Hispanic groups, and the open borders, globalist, miscreant employer types barrage us with disingenuous info, but Middle America IS righteously indignant about ILLEGALS. If not stopped and reversed via enforcement of EXISTING laws, which would lead to attritive repatriation, ILLEGALS will morph us into a third world barrio.

The general public overwhelmingly favors TRUE immigration reform (BUT not Scamnesty posing as "C.I.R."). Poll after poll shows that Americans want well-enforced, sensible, and sustainable immigration laws, and LEGAL immigration of the educated and skilled who can be positive net contributors on balance.

* 89% of Americans think ILLEGAL immigration into the U.S. is a problem (30% "extremely serious," 33% "very serious," and 26% "somewhat serious." (Time Magazine, 2006)

* 82% think that not enough is being done along the borders to keep ILLEGAL immigrants from crossing into the country. (New York Times/CBS 2007)

* 68% feel that the number of immigrants who cross the border, whether legal or illegal is “too high”. (Polling Company, 2006)

* 62% oppose making it easier for ILLEGAL immigrants to become citizens of America. (Quinnipiac Univ., Feb. 2006)

*71% believe that ILLEGAL immigrants should not qualify for in-state tuition rates at colleges and universities.

*77% oppose making drivers' licenses available to illegal immigrants.

*71% favor requiring foreign visitors to carry universal I.D. card.

*77% say that employers can require English-only on the job, and 89% favor making it the official/only language of government.

oldsocialworker
Well your colleagues are slitting their own throats and the sad part is they don't even know it.

Wonder when they will get tired of spitting in the wind?

Not being a dr., I think some
of the surge in staph infections, bed bugs, and meningitis may be directly related to masses of people entering the ocuntry from areas traditionally backward in education and medicine.

We forget in the bad old days of early 20th C. immigration in the vaunted Ellis Island, officials turned away people with a cough, acne, lice, and sent them back to wherever they had suffered so long and seriously that they had braved sometimes dangerous and often despicabnle steerage passage to immigrate here.

Now, we have some unknown tens of millions of peoples illegally occupying the Uniter States, defying the Constitution, ignoring local and state laws, with few except the isolated town or city here or there trying to address the social upheaval caused by this atrociousn situation perpetuated by the federal government and the courts of the Am.

If some few mayors and judges have finally decided "illegal" means illegal, may they have the luck of the Irish for the rest of their lives.

PS--Hazelton fights on. They could use contributions.

Lolo1
Here's what happens:

Every year we get a bumper crop of know-it-alls doing student internships and those "trying to make a difference". Its most often girls in those rectangular glasses with their hair piled in that boinky fashion on top of their heads. They get HORRIFIED at the inefficacy of the system and immediatly attribute it to "lack of funding". From there, some put in their time to get a clinical license and move on to private practice, some get married and run screaming, and the wealthy ladies trying to make a difference tend to work part time for "meaning". There are a handful of us who are simply well established and like working with teens (we tend to be the conservative ones).

The gay guys can be pretty cool. They generally have an interest in gay specific issues and produce way more than they take. Some of the best child protection workers I've met have been the gay guys. Its just an observation.

At any rate, those who can attest with credibility that we are slitting our throats are outnumbered by the pseudointellectual boinky- headed dope girls.

Just now saw it on Lou Dobbs--
Today , Mon. As I was watching my favorite newsman, Lou Dobbs, he showed the recent protestors in D.C. (all open borders types). One of the speakers , I think was la raza said , that all of the close the border candidates have be dropped and that we now have the open border candidates. (I think that I am phrasing her statements correctly), so this tells us here that we are in for some really serious problems if she is correct..
Also Lou had some pictures of some of the last minute speeches by the 3 front runners and the sheep that will become lemmings who were supporting them. I guess that common sense for many of these individuals is a thing of the past.

oldsocialworker
It happens because throwing money at problems requires no sweat equity and eases the conscience for the short term.

It then becomes a drug that gives the quick fix for all parties involved. If the newbies in your field actually had paid attention in school they would know the government was purposefully designed to hamstring itself not help. In order to protect the rights of the individual it cannot serve the masses.

Asking the government to be efficient and prolific is like asking the 800lb man to run a marathon.

LaMarr Alexander has an amendment
supporting busineses' requiring English not be sued by our own EEOP, which is suing the Boston Salvation Army for firing two workers who, altho' offered tutoring in Eng., refused to learn or use English in business transactions.

The amendment can't get past the Hispanic caucus.

I just canceled a credit card whose phone system answered my call in Spanish. Evidently, I should've been offered the choice of languages, but the multicultural electronic system chose Spanish for me on its own. When I could reach a person in English, I reported my unwanted bilingual experience and termintated my account.

Juan McCain are You Listening??
This illegal Crap has got to come to a complete Hault!!! We need to secure the borders and make the fines so stinking high that not even the little old lady down the road would hire an illegal to mow her grass!!! No Work would push most of the Illegals back across the border then we could round up the rest and ship them back. Come on Elected Thugs in DC get with it and quit wasting time on baseball players!!!!!

By 2050
...there will be 450 million people living in America. Guess why?

Can you say large families? Can you say crime explosion? Big government, no doubt. But big government can't protect us from climate change, water shortages, food, and energy shortages.

THis country will never be independent of the Arabs, because 450 million people need alot of gasoline. The Arabs, thru their proxies, will own our highways, our forests, our businesses as we struggle to pay for $10/gallon gas and produce food without an adequate water supply.

The feel-good democrats will tell us that it is only fair to give citizenship to 30 million people. The bottom line for us will be the end of capitalism. The bottome line for the Dems (and the thing they truly care about) is votes and power. The American Dream will be dead (in America, at least). We'll be in nursing homes (if we're lucky) totally reliant on the government. Most will be poor and scared. MAny will starve. But to paraphrase Hillary, "they'll be alright."

Akagi
Reading you makes me think your masters could smear your face with fecal matter - you'd lick it and think it edible. When someone informs you of what it is, you'd reply: Your opinion!

You are a dissembling bore whose indoctrination quite outweighs any appeal to facts or common sense; and very possibly a paid Soros operative.

You're right, Renny
Because there were rampant infections in the prison , guys would be put on preemptive and/or reactive antibiotics and then would be shipped, abruptly ending the treatment . This was an effort to keep epidemics out of the facility, but think has resulted in super bugs. Now its super bugs from other countries. Unbelievable.

The price of Liberty . . . .
O.K. folks, now you know the meaning of "eternal vigilance."

We did not get Duncan Hunter this time around.

Therefore, we have to fight the open borders idiots every where. On the beaches, in the fields, at the Rio Grande, in the Arizona deserts.

We have to elect real Americans at the grassroots levels, and keep hammering the elitist ruling classes while we still can.

Remember 1776.

Illegals
should have no rights other than the most basic human rights. They have no right to:

1. Work in the US
2. Any social benefits what so ever
3. Application of the bill of rights provisions to them.

Why can't disobeying the law apply to us normal Americans - let's all not pay taxes!!!!

Minor point - What's really ironic is illegals in some places are getting a college education in the state they illegally reside - within state tuition! So your kid or mine can't get the benefits in our own country illegals do (in state tuition in another state).

BOTH parties are in the tank on this one!

Nick in Austin
Your post spells out precisely what we are in for. And I don't think Hollywood stars and guys like Soros are going to help us out. Chile's looking pretty good...

I Doubt Judges Are Hearing Anything
American judges live the most privileged and most isolated existence of any humans on the planet. The results are no surprise - we have allowed a class of elitists to create itself - a class that has an unshakeable faith in the superiority of their personal biases over any other arrangement of rights or responsibilites. And, to compound our negligence, we have allowed this monster to grow infinitely more powerful through lifetime tenure.

Surely, the American judicial class presents a danger to society at least the equal of the Islamic jihadists that they coddle and shelter.

The American judicial class may have at some point to choose between accepting some changes that will require them to face the political consequences of their arrogance, or to allow things to progress as they have, with the possibility of consequences so severe, harsh, and radical that they may never have been imagined possible.

Lolo1
the newbies DID pay attention in school. They came away mislead, ignorant, and self righteous and assured. That's the problem.

Prop 187 Was Supported by Most Hispanics
Akagi writes: And "In 1994, Californians overwhelmingly passed Proposition 187" which is cited for the death of the GOP in that state as Pete Wilson became the poster boy for it and thus he and it took the GOP down like a millstone.

This is liberal propaganda. The GOP actually benefitted after 187. Most Hispanics voted for it. Pete Wilson's approval ratings soared.

The liberals have been repeating this lie for 14 years. Don't believe it. The GOP in California is going down because

1. it is becoming indistinguishable from the Democrat party , just look at Arnold, our RINO-in-chief.
2. European Americans are leaving by the hundred thousands in the face of constant liberal fascism, and taking their businesses with them.
3. The Dem "Get Whitey" party is very appealing to La Raza voters, who have arrived by the millions thanks to open borders. (Thanks, Juan McAmnesty)

Judges Getting the Message About Illegal
“Judges Getting the Message About Illegal Immigrants” by Phyllis Schlafly is an article that urges local and state governments to act against the ‘evil immigrants’ that come to this country to damage American citizens, I disagree with this article because of its ridiculous generalization. The article mainly addresses the facts of past crimes committed by a limited amount of illegal immigrants, it suggests that the help to illegal immigrants from landlords or employers is a crime, and that the low wages of illegal immigrants are actually a ‘loss’ of millions of dollars. To immigrate to this country without the legal documents to rent, work, and live on American land is a crime that as suggested by the article creates far worse atrocities, but this hasty accusation of criminal activities of ‘all’ immigrants oversees the fact that most of these are people that come to better their lives and the lives of their loved ones, they did not come to America to commit crimes and to worsen their lives in jail. Most illegal immigrants are poor people that decided to risk their lives coming illegally to this country, because the permits that allow them to come legally are expensive and have strict requirements which are set by their own countries and the U.S. making it almost impossible for them to obtain such permits. To say that all help should be denied to all illegal immigrants because of the crimes committed by another minority of immigrants is outrageous and to some extent immoral, because not ‘all’ illegal immigrants are committing crimes and they are human beings that work the hard- bad paid jobs that no other American citizen will work and as human beings we should not ignore the cry for help of other people in need. As a legal immigrant to this country I understand the conditions that made them come to this country and I disagree to the proposal of creating an evil stereotype followed by inhumane laws.

doctorfixit
I must admit: In dealing with Akagi, you have patience!

No question about it - in CA, the whites, when able, are running for their lives. The political system, especially in the south, not only doesn't represent them but actively preys upon them.

The smart ones sold their houses and got out before the housing bust - the dumb ones hung on because they thought home values could go no where but up.

It's a bunker mentality for those that are left, hoping simply to keep prop 13 in place (property value taxation restrictions).

The GOP is a shell of what it once was and hardly bothers to oppose the prevailing political winds.

And I agree: there is an Hispanic difference. The established ones hate the illegal migration as much as the whites.

I can see Akagi ignorantly dismissing us: "that's your opinion".

Elizabeth Jara
You state the article "implies that giving help to illegals by landlords and employers is a crime."
Read the law - it is a crime.

On the issue of illegal immigration
McCain - Open borders
McCain/Kennedy(/Bush) amnesty bill
Says "secure the border" but doesn't mention a fence!
Says governors will "certify" border security. Inept doofuses like Perry & Schwarzenegger? Is he kidding?
Campaign advisor Juan Hernandez - "Mexico First" - former advisor to Pres Vicente Fox - dual citizen

Huckabee - Signed NumbersUSA no-amnesty pledge
Will immediately finish the southern fence (real double-layer fence)
Wants a Canadian fence too
Endorsed by border-hawk ex-candidate Representative Duncan Hunter and Minutemen cofounder Jim Gilchrist

Vote for Huck Tue 3/4!
All Paul supporters (and you dedicated FredHeads, Romniacs & everybody else still voting for your guy out of spite), please vote Huckabee! Why this strategy? Well:

During the primaries it's obvious Paul will not win. A vote for Huck is a no-confidence vote in McCain (unless it's a vote for Huck, like mine, but follow me for a minute). Huck has to win SuperTuesday 2 ESPECIALLY in TX & OH to keep McVain from the magic number of 1,191 delegates.

Then we'll get the brokered convention we want. At that point we will work to get either Huck or Paul, anybody but McAmnesty, nominated.

And if Paul's not the nominee, you can still vote for him 3rd party in November (if he does it).

But for now the last chance you have to save your party from the RNC/MSM nominee is to vote for Huck.

20 min at mikehuckabee.com will make you a believer.

Thank you!

Yes But
I'm being convinced that the economy is trumping the rule of law.

The nat'l gov't believes the strength of the economy is tied into illegal immigrants. They also believe that its citizenry prefer lower prices over the confronting the problem of illegals.

I can't think of any other reasons.

Illegal Imigrants
Yes, starve the bastards out. They are a bunch of drug smuggling, law breaking people that don't respect our laws. Take away their jobs and take away their homes and watch them run for the boarder. Have they ever done anything for this country? Some of them have been here 10 to 15 years or more Who invited them in the first place, California?

If an illegal immigrant took your job...
You were a loser to begin with.

Schlafly's article states: "In the Arizona case, the court noted the research of George Borjas, an economist at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, who concluded that hiring illegal immigrants depresses wages for legal workers because illegals accept lower pay without benefits. Those hardest hit are uneducated legal workers, who in Arizona alone lost $1.4 billion in 2006 in the form of lower wages."

That research study deserves the "Duh Award" to the blatantly obvious. Of course the presence of someone willing to provide a production factor (unskilled labor in this case) will lower the cost of that factor (i.e. salaries for unskilled workers). What Schlafly DOESN'T mention is that salaries reflect the marginal productivity of labor. I will only pay you a higher salary if you do your job better than somebody else. Your place of birth and your ethnicity are irrelevant. Unskilled nativists (American or otherwise) who claim they're entitled to a higher salary just because of geographical luck can cry me a river.

Incompetence
When someone tells you their job is just too tough, that it is impossible to do, they are telling you they are not competent for the job.

When the president says he cannot get rid of 12 Million illegal aliens he is saying the job is just too tough for him. He is, in essence, saying he is incompetent in his job.

When the president refuses to secure the border he is demonstrating that incompetence.

The president derisively calls the Minutemen "Vigilantes". Does he not know that the only time Vigilantes have showed up in past history is when those charged with enforcing the law became so inept, incompetent or corrupt that the laws were not being enforced???

why ILLEGALS are embraced by some
There is a strange sort of unholy alliance that welcomes ILLEGALS. First, there are open border RINOS and their chamber lobby dogs who simply want to milk the "cheap" labor source. Of course the only beneficiaries of this "savings" are the miscreant employers who pocket the savings. they have spent a lot trying to buy scamnesty. The myriad egregious social cost burdens are necessarily foisted upon taxpayers and citizens.

On the other side are libs who know that ILLEGALS will vote for big entitlement govt. as soon as they can get them voting, which would soon assure the hegemony of the left in perpetuity. The PC ilk, Hispanic ethnocentric groups, remote "elites" (who like their maids and gardeners-- THEIR children don't go to schools or live in neighborhoods enervated by ILLEGALS) including the MSM and many pols (including Presidente Jorge and Amnesty John) are in cahoots with the lawbreaking employers. Taken altogether, there is a lot of $ and organization among this strange bedfellow mix of businesses and seemingly disparate interest groups.

What has slowed them? About 75% of Americans including most Hispanic Americans are viscerally opposed to the many negative results associated with ILLEGALS. (See survey results at my 7:40 post.) America does need EDUCATED, skilled, LEGAL immigrants, but most ILLEGALS are ignorant, poor, and willfully culturally disparate-- a tsunami of social pathologies that will snowball and morph us into a third world barrio if not stanched by enforcing EXISTING laws.

Too bad

Too bad that Mexico does not want the US to apply the same sort of security and immigration inforcement that it does with its southern border. Seems like they also worry about "people from the south" taking jobs and "invading" their land.

As Arte Johnson used to say "Verrrrry interesting"

pourous border?
The US has somewhere around 50,000 troops in South Korea defending the BORDER with North Korea!
These troops specialize in BORDER SECURITY,
South Korea has the manpower and resources to protect their own border.
We should demand those troops be redeployed to our border with Mexico, they have the know-how and the equipment already bought and paid for.
The troops are on salary already, so increased cost would be minimal, it may even be cheaper.
Fifty or so armed troops per mile would dry up that border in a heartbeat.
I know some of you say the Posse Comitatus Act forbids the use of troops, but the Posse Comitatus act forbids military force against US civilians.
Protecting the border is protecting the US from a FOREIGN INVASION.

Your Kidding Right? Illegal Aliens No Matter Where They Came From are Criminals!!! They are breaking our Laws everyday, They steal social security numbers to be able to work, they lie cheat and steal from the Welfare Office, They drive without valid drivers license, they dont pay their bills at the hospitals, etc etc. They are criminals the minute they step foot on American Soil without the proper documentation. As for the cost to come in legally that is to bad! It is what it is. Heck to move into Australia is like 100k, not that much to come to America legally, so I say charge charge charge and arrest arrest arrest and deport deport deport!!!

who was the governor ?
That wouldnt allow illegals to have drivers license..that is no longer in the presidential
race? You know the guy that tom tancredo endorsed
hmmmmmm??!!! The guy who lost florida primary to
those illegal lovers---mel martinez,Gov. crist
ohhhhhh, excuse me he lost to illegal lover...
juan mc mexico ! My wife who is mexican..born and raised here many years ago..said to me after that CERTAIN GOV. DROPPED OUT..."maybe he came on too strong about illegal immigration!!" She does not support illegal immigration...but she was making an observation..and just wondering out loud! elvis

reply to: elvis
Are you still dead? About 3/4 of Americans favor a serious crackdown on ILLEGALS-- see many poll results at my 7:40 post. Romney losing Florida was certainly not because he is on Middle America's side on this. RINO Crist wanted to be VP, so he endorsed Amnesty John, which gave him Fla. in a crowded nominee field, and effectively the nomination.
We will have pro-amnesty Obama and fellow open border globalist lib Juan McAmnesty representing the 2 sides, but America opposes their agenda on this.

As for drivers' licenses aimed at voter fraud, Gov. Spitzer of N.Y. is now toast in a blue state for trying to pull that stunt, and even lib pundits concede that Shrillary was mortally wounded for equivocating on it in a debate. Fully 77% oppose this charade.

You mentioned your Mexican-born spouse who does not support illegal immigration-- about half of legal Hispanics voted for tough new anti-ILLEGAL sanctions in Az. in 2006, which are now causing many ILLEGALS to pack up and leave Az. for Mexico... interesting what actual enforcement of the law can accomplish.

no longer an issue
The major media has recently been reporting that people no longer care about illegal immigration in this country.

I'm glad to see this article give credence that for many of us this is an important issue.

I'm 100% for immigration. But for someone to be considered an immigrant they need to obey our laws and come here through proper channels.

Let them deport themselves......
Let the illegals deport themselves.

- Secure the border: Fence, massive border patrols. Jail illegals caught trying to enter--see Joe Arpiao below.
- Dry up the jobs: Fine employers of illegals a serious amount of money, jail them for repeat offenses.
- Dry up government services: Welfare, drivers licenses (NC issues them (or did) without asking for immigration status).
- Dry up medical care: Treat only life-threatening cases, then see Joe Arpiao below.
- Withhold federal funds from states, counties and cities that do not cooperate in identifying and arresting illegals.
- Change the anchor baby thingy so that only babies born of parents legally here are U. S. citizens.
- Turn every illegal criminal over to Sheriff Joe Arpiao for his entire sentence, then deport him/her: Joe keeps his Maricopa County, AZ, prisoners in tents in camps in the desert, feeds them bologna sandwiches, makes them work on chain gangs, cable TV (required by law) shows only a religious channel and the weather channel), tells them if they don't like the accommodations, don't come back.

Then they go home on their own.

Illegal Immigrants
I believe the illegal immigrant problem is quite serious for a number of reasons both economic--depressin wages for native workers and adding to the balance-of-payments proble through the exodus of dollars sent home--and in terms of the impact on the level of civility in our society--allowing illegal immigrants to live and work in our socity creates a lack of respect for the law.

I also have a strong personal reason for addressing the problem. Two of my three daughters have been in hit and run accidents, in whcih their cars were totaled but they emerged uninjured, involving what police believe to be illegal immigrants. One accident was in Arizona in February or March 2006 and the other was in Kentucky in February 2008. From what the police said in each case, these were not unusal occurences.

Illegal Aliens are EXPENSIVE
If Senator Obama becomes the next President he has no plan to secure America's borders and keep us safe from murderers, rapists and thieves? He does not want to build a fence. Illegal immigration is expensive!

The Heritage Foundation in 2007 found that low-wage immigrant families in the United States caused a net fiscal deficit of $89.1 billion in 2004. Harvard economist Dr. George Borjas calculated that legal and illegal immigrants suppress wages by $200 billion annually.

Los Angeles County, CA Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich reported in October 2007: "Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact”. Public Safety cost $220 million, Health Care, $400 million, Welfare, $440 million. Los Angeles County pays more than $1 billion annually for immigrants.

Taxpayers provide illegal and legal immigrants Social Security benefits, education, housing, welfare, child care and medical care. Instead of encouraging them to learn English and assimilate, their youngsters are taught in their native language.

“The non-assimilation problem is made worse by the divisive activities of radical Hispanic groups (La Raza, MEChA, LULAC, ADL, SPLC, et al.) financed by the Rockefeller, Carnegie, Mellon, and other wealthy foundations.”

These organizations view the immigrants as oppressed victims and change is needed. One change, supported by illegal aliens, includes the reclaiming of the American southwest for Mexico.

Illegal immigrants annually costs to American taxpayers is $200 Billion in revenue lost by suppressed wages, $20 Billion for WIC, food stamps, medicaid, welfare and free, full course lunches.
http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

In addition to the above costs $231 billion is spent for teaching English, Anchor Babies, Incarceration and Social Services.

If an illegal immigrant took your job...
You were a loser to begin with.
...
Unskilled nativists (American or otherwise) who claim they're entitled to a higher salary just because of geographical luck can cry me a river.
------------------
Yes, I wouldn't expect anything else from a liberal. If you can exploit someone for your personal power or even amusement, you do. Publicly.

Of course, laws that require citizens to pay more in taxes and give services away to illegal aliens for free never play into these conversations. Businesses nor governments can operate based upon the illegal wages which are not taxed. Illegals in California are now getting the base wages in construction that citizens were before; however, employers are not paying legal insurance requirements and taxes that citizen hires are mandated by the government. I guess empathy for your fellow man only applies if they're gay, illegal, or felons.

When all you have left in a community is thieves, we shall see whom is crying the river.

Warning Against Complacency!
Be vigilant….be very vigilant.
Of the three (viable) candidates for the Presidency of the United States, all of them are in favor of some form of “comprehensive reform”.

Of course, the Democrats – Obama and Clinton – are in favor of open borders and a path to citizenship for the illegals, even at the expense of placing them at the head of the line.

Senator McCain, despite his recent revisions, needs to be watched very closely. I am willing to bet that he is selling us a bill of goods in claiming that he has seen the light. (Does “I’ll build their god-d**n fence….”) sound like a convert to you?)

My sense is that we have not yet slain this dragon, and it will, like Arnold in the Terminator movies, arise again in an attempt to pander to the Dems, to Mexico and to the US Chamber of Commerce.

Keep your powder dry, folks.

Unca Alby,
As long as there are able-bodied people on welfare we do not "need" anyone coming here who doesn't either bring unique skills otherwise unavailable or who doesn't intend to make a full commitment to bein an American.

The "jobs Americans won't do" argument is complete bunk. If able-bodied people were forced to work rather than live on government handouts and if illegals weren't driving down wages for low-skill and entry-level work then the supply and demand would balance each other out setting the wages equal to the real cost of the labor and able-bodied people faced with the choice to work or starve would work.

McCain?
It is refreshing to read your column in this time that people are supporting McCain, who was the one who wants to give immunity to every illegal who is in this country. We have a short memory but you refresh our memories with the exposition of facts.

Thanks very much for your contribution to the sanity of this country. We need mind like yours.

Immigrants?
Immigrants who come here lawfully to become Americans and join with us to build a better, stronger America are welcome.

Foreign intruders who ignore our borders and come here to victimize Americans should not be just pushed across the Border so they can swiftly return. They should be taken to the Sudan and released so it takes them longer to return and causes a little hardship.

Our turn to laugh!

I agree that the majority of Americans are fighting angry about illegal immigration, want the borders secured and the aliens sent home (or at least self-deported).

However, I have an opinion as to why a closed-borders presidential candidate such as Mitt Romney is no longer in the race and why open-borders freaks like John McCain, Hillary and Obama are still standing.

It is this: Americans are flat-out stupid and/or have very short memories.

For instance, many of the Republican exit polls showed that people voted for McCain because they feel he is strong on illegal immigration and/or on the economy. Isn't McCain the same guy who was a co-sponsor of that horrific amnesty bill just last summer and who admits that he doesn't really understand the economy? Meanwhile, Romney IS against illegal immigration and IS a financial wizard who obviously does understand how the economy works. Go figure. It's simply mindless.

Too bad Romney did not have a gimmick: He is not half American-American (Obama), not a woman (Hillary) and not a "war hero" (McCain). He is, however, a Mormon -- and that was a negative if anything. Americans need to latch on to a gimmick because they are too stupid and/or lazy to do any real homework. That's why an Obama -- who is 99 percent hot air and bull wrapped up in a suit -- can create such a frenzy rather than getting dismissed outright for the con artist that he is.

Mark my words: America will one day, unfortunately, collapse under the weight of its own stupidity and political correctness. This presidential primary election, and the so-called candidates still standing, is a litmus test of how stupid America has become. Get used to illegal immigration. I am sure the worst is yet to come -- and it's America's fault for not jettisoning any open-borders candidate from the get-go.

Your question was the 1924 immigration law known as the National Origins Act racist? Yes. It was to its core.

You could have had a Ph.D. from Beida or Todai in 1925 and still you would not be allowed to immigrate to the US--why because you were non-white. But you could be an uneducated dolt in a factory in Manchester and you'd be allowed in, no problems. The law didn't distinguish between your skills or education, but your race.

Asians, Africans, Latin Americans were banned because of their race, and southern Europeans had their numbers greatly restricted because they were some how not quite white. 86% of the national quota was reserved for "white Europe."

If this isn't racism in your view, you have a very odd way of defining the term and the 1965 law (which was a good law) was Emanuel Celler's baby, not Kennedy. I know he is the great evil to the far right, but if you are going to credit or blame someone get the right person. Kennedy did support the bill though. The US only allows in 1 million legal immigrants a year. Most are the wifes, husbands and children of US citizens and permanent residents. The most of the rest are immigrants with special skills that the econmy needs and those who have high accomplishments in the arts and sciences.

1 million immigrants is only .3% of the US population and far below the .9% growth rate.

Your focus should be illegal immigration, not legal immigration or harping about the repeal of a law based soley on racism by a society at the time that was racist to its very core. The 1920s being the high water mark for the KKK.

And grubby, I only deal in facts, the fact you are too stupid to understand them and thus they bore you is not my problem--dui niu tan qin.

I feel your pain about the ignorance of voters. Most people on the street cannot name their 2 Senators or the VP; no wonder they cannot find china on a globe. Is it any wonder that we end up with politicos who disappoint?! Hubert Humphrey had a great line; there is a difference between the capacity to get elected and the ability to govern-- witness Presidente Jorge. He was AWFUL in debates, but had two leftist windbag losers running against him, especially the gigolo, done-nothing, windsurfer, public traitor.

Amnesty John was almost permanently derailed by his scamnesty bill, then turned on a dime and proclaimed "We got your message." Translation: I will fake a conversion to a goal of border enforcement and the rule of law until I get elected.

About how people vote-- a spooky percentage say they decide during the last week, or even at the polls... not exactly studied reflection there! The MSM wanted the liberal RINO Amnesty John, so they kept telling everybody that he was electable. The left feared Romney, so the media and bible thumpers marginalized him-- as if he would have made us all mormons! People said that Amnesty John did not reflect their views, but he was electable and tough on terror... like Romney or even the Huckster would be soft? How often do any among us REALLY feel the threat of "terror"?

Middle America has not forgotten the ILLEGAL alien crisis-- the pols will learn that the hard way, as did Spitzer and Shrillary about the licenses for voter fraud scheme.

Illegal Immigrants

The Mexican groups like La Raza are trying to shut down Lou Dobbs, Glen Beck, NumbersUSA to keep the truth from getting out. Please sign this petition to try and stop them. They say that those people are racists and using "hate words". The Mexican Mayor of L.A. CA has said they will take over America even if they have to kill us to do it. Are those not hate words? They are killing and maiming our Border Guards and they want us to stop using "hate words." There is a clip of one of these women warning us that we have shown we want amnesty because of the way we are voting for candidates who want amnesty. She says the politicians know Latinos have a lot of power in American elections. If illegals weren't allowed to vote they wouldn't have that power. Start fighting amnesty. Don't let the future of your children and Grandchildren be a third world country.

ILLEGALS
When we deport the criminals they are back here within days. The Government is not going to seal our borders. If they wanted to they would have already done it. Instead they give us lies and smoke screens. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO IT
Arizona among other states have enforced the laws on punishing people who hire them or rent to them. The proof that this works is that illegals are now leaving Ariz and other states who have done as Ariz has done. ExPres Fox has speeches planned that will be on the Mexican station and any American stations that will carry them. His speeches are supposedly to convince her heartless racist Americans that we need these illegals and amnesty. What they are really for is to start illegals demonstrating in our streets.
This is a war folks and we better let it be know we will not surrender.

ILLEGALS
Why aren't Mexicans asking Fox and Calderone why in all these years that a wealthy country like Mexico have not created decent paying jobs for it's people. Why have they forced them to risk their lifes to cross the border to feed their families? Why have their leaders allowed American companies to build there and pay their people slaves wages. Are their leaders not ashamed that their people have to come here and take welfare handouts from Americans? Why do they let their peoople come here and work for $10 a day picking tomatoes? Why do they let American companies exploit them for low wages? Why don't they take their wealth and build a country that allows its people to earn a decent living. Why, when their citizens tried years ago to fight for a union and decent wages were they mowed down.

Akagi:
"So you are a mind reader too? What other skills do you have that we here at TH aren't aware of?...Maybe bend forks with your mind? See through walls? Does the circus know about you yet?"...Akagi at 03/03/08, 4:07 PM

Not necessary to read minds or tea leaves. You are so transparent in your postings that you are not at all "inscrutable" after all.

You have a personal issue with "race", but only one race. You refer to others as being racist in a reactionary way. If "racism" were such a dynamic in human affairs, than why did "white" Germany attack "white" Europe in 1939-40? Or is this aggression just a "White Thing"? If so, then why did Asian Japan attack the rest of Asia in the 1930's? Why did African tribes sell other Africans to the slave trade. Were the Africans racists too? Your flag of "racism" is your lame defense for every perceived offense.

" Of course Japan and Taiwan aren't paranoid about other languages. ..No one is running around saying English is destroying our culture." Akagi 4:38 PM

These little island nations are not being overrun with massive migrations of single language only people. It's easy to accommodate the tourism and business trade, but let a wholesale migration take place into Japan and/or Taiwan from Latin America and then wait for the locals to demonstrate in the streets of Tokyo and Taipei to rid the islands of the foreigners.

Actually, Americas immigration laws are more associated with the politics in other parts of the world then with "racism". The 1924 immigration act was directed at countries in Europe that had communist or anarchist tendencies Eastern Europe and Italy, as well as the empire expansions of Japan in the 1920's. Race really has little to do with the present immigration issues. Language, culture, and politics? definitely! However, "race" is YOUR issue and it colors your argument.

ILLEGALS
ExPres Fox said illegals take the jobs that "even Afro Americans" won't do. Is this not a racial remark. Is this not hate words? Why is Obama not complaining about this. This shows what Mexicans think about blacks. And he calls Americans racists? Why didn't the Black Community jump all over him? Why are they praising Obama when he is not doing anything about illegals taking their jobs?
Because Obama is not African American.

the Hispanic vote
A topic that is willfully distorted is the Hispanic vote. RINOS and the open border ilk bray that if we do not embrace ILLEGALS and make nice to them that it will offend Hispanic Americans. Actually, tough new enforcement measures passed in Az. in 2006 with about half of the Hispanic vote, as did Proposition 187 in Mexifornia and other such measures. ILLEGALS are leaving Az. to repatriate to Mexico now that laws are being enforced-- bingo!

It is simply misguided to fathom that middle class Hispanic Americans welcome ignorant, indigent ILLEGALS any more than the rest of us do. Taxpayers and citizens, regardless of heritage, rightly eschew what ILLEGALS are foisting upon us. Their pernicious social pathologies spread with them like a metastasizing cancer, eventually destroying the host body.

HOWEVER, the left correctly deduces that ILLEGALS who vote (or will eventually) figure to vote for big entitlement govt. and Hispanic ethnocentric positions almost 100% of the time. We MUST stanch them soon or lose America.

Race doesn't explain everything, Bucko
But it does the 1924 National Origins Act. If the law wasn't, explain why not a single non-white was allowed to immigrate to the US after 1924? In 1924 Japan wasn't really very expansionist and at the time was even democratic. Japan's rapid expansion that would lead to the Pacific War began in 1931--7 years after the law. It also banned immigration from the Philippines, its own colony, Malayia and the Straits Colonies which were colonies of the UK, French Indonchina, and the NEI. Also banned it from India and Ceylon and on and on.

The law was racist, you can't explain it any other way as much as you'd love to try.

Germany??? Are you really that stupid? Germany was all about race. It attacked eastern Europe because it viewed them as an unworthy lesser race (heard of the term "lebensraum?") and went on to attack Western Europe only after the UK and France declared war on it for moving on Poland. Japan's Yamato-centric view at the time was also based on racism (although it did have more to do with real politik issues of resources than race, but race was a factor).

And the reason the Africans sold other Africans was both a result of tribalism and desire for enriching themselves by creating a supply for the slave market. So yes in part this was a form of racism.

And I don't consider you a racist, idiot would be the word I'd use.

Akagi:
"You could have had a Ph.D. from Beida or Todai in 1925 and still you would not be allowed to immigrate to the US--why because you were non-white."

No. Todai is the U of Tokyo, America already had experience with Japan's tendencies to seek empire when the US negotiated a peace between Russia and Japan. Japan was behaving badly. The mention of Beida, or Peking University in China, is a red herring. America welcomed many Chinese immigrants, just as it did mine from Ireland for the needed labor.

The problem in formulating international law is that many countries are not only one nationality, but also one race. How does one word a document with a clarity of perfect meaning? The US still argues over the meaning of its own 14th. Amendment, even though we have the Congressional record of the intent of its author.

In your case, Akagi, you've got a race "Jones" of your own and you're hiding behind the issue of Mexican immigration in order to promote your own agenda of Asian immigration. Apples and oranges.

BTW, are you an aircraft carrier (sunk), a mountain, or a cartoon character?

Akagi:
"Germany??? Are you really that stupid? Germany was all about race. It attacked eastern Europe because it viewed them as an unworthy lesser race (heard of the term "lebensraum?")....(Akagi)

I guess that explains all the "white-on-white" violence of the First World War? It was all about race was it? And Lebensraum is German for "living-space". Hitler used this excuse, as does the Aztlan crowd, for their hegemony.

"...idiot would be the word I'd use."...(Akagi)

'Tis a flattery considering the source.

Why don't you quit hiding behind the Mexicans, Akagi, and come out with what you really want; unrestricted Asian immigration into the United States.

term racism applied selectively
Akaqi requires only nations founded by white Europeans to prove their lack of racism by letting themselves become minorities in their own countries.

Observing the treatment of European and Christian minorities in countries where they are the minority now shows that they are very badly treated and this is what they have to look forward to should the same happen here. The only countries in the world today allowing large minorities through immigration who get the same rights as any other citizen are those where European whites are still in the majority

Akaqi is still sneering about what he calls a racist law repealed in the United States in the 60's but has no criticism for China, Japan, all Arabic states and Mexico etc. who guard their ethnic and racial make-up tenaciously to this very day.

The net result will be to extinguish white European culture from the world in favor of cultures and races who have created such failed countries they seek to immigrate to the European based countries in such large numbers as to overwhelm the assimilation process.

Before non-whites cheer, they should figure out who's going to feed Africa etc. when European origin countries lose their capacity to give foreign aid.

Illegal immigraition
Illegal immigraition has for the first time has been stolen by ,'immigraition rights', so called exports who subvert US law! Enough is enough. It is the responsability of the police to enforce our laws( but not protect us by the via US Supreme Court rulling in '89). If Americans, legal law abiding Americans do not stand up, and raise up against this crime, our country is screwed. People say the US can not afford to enforce this law, then which law is next on the list we then can't afford? Which law is next to be subverted to be not politically correct?

The real problem of illegal immigraition are the countries whose political and social conditions are so bad its best human capital committ illegal acts to come into our country. American needs to close its citizens to travel to countries that do not change its political and social problems, and let Americans spend its tourist and economic dollars here. Sooner or later our Republic can not stand for a populas who doesn't follow not only the rules, but our laws will turn our country into third world strip malls.
To the pin heads out there who may view my statements as racist...up yours!

No Bucko
If you would learn to read you would see that I plainly stated that racism can't be used to descibe everything--did I not? Thus, WWI which was a complicated struggle for empires and spheres of influence, etc can't be seen as a war based on racism.

And I understand the term quite well...do you? The regime of Nazi Germany and its push east was based totally on a racist ideology.

You are very good at pulling out examples from your tiny brain, having them blown apart and without even comment moving to another example to try to defend your hopeless position. And when did I say I wanted unrestricted immigration from Asia or even imply such. I simply noted how you and others are so quick to support a law that was based on racism.

Kindel:

The debate I am in is over the 1924 National Origins Act, not Chinese or Japanese or Arabic policies. China has a racist policy too--only members of one of the 56 ethnic groups of China can become a Chinese citizen. If you were to marry a Chinese citizen and not a member of one of those groups, you would be barred from becoming a citizen of China. In Japan, while if you married a Japanese citizen you can become a Japanese citizen, you have to prove you are living as a true Japanese (what ever that means).

I think these policies are stupid and yes racist as well. The US immigration policies today are now race-nuetral, that is a good thing. Going back to 1965, is a bad thing--understand?

Taiwan for Asia has a much more open immigration system and the "New Taiwanese" don't seem mistreated to me. Christians are a minority in Taiwan, yet three of the four presidents have been Christian, churches abound everyplace. I don't see any abuse in that regard either.

Akagi:
"Going back to 1965, is a bad thing--understand?"...Akagi at 03/04,4:55 PM.

No! Going back to the 1965 law and doing that Immigration Act correctly is a good thing. A very necessary thing. The USA may be geographically large, but the strain on our social and governmental institutions is too great to absorb so many, so fast.

Look, meatball, immigration is not a "right", yet you expect the United States to treat it as an entitlement to all the peoples of the world at its own peril and expense.

Why? Are you so offended by the 1924 National Origins Act that as an Asian you see it as your duty to seek revenge against the USA for doing what other Asian countries do? Or do you have personal immigration issues that you seek universal entitlements to remedy. If so, you're a hypocrite!

Kindel
"Akaqi is still sneering about what he calls a racist law repealed in the United States in the 60's but has no criticism for China, Japan, all Arabic states and Mexico etc. who guard their ethnic and racial make-up tenaciously to this very day." Kindel at 4:23 PM.

So well put that it bears repeating. "Sneering" is the operative word, whether used as an adjective or verb, and describes the hate-on that Akagi has for America and is quite palpable. His kind, regardless of origin, will eventually render this "last best hope of earth" into the same wretched misery that the "hopeful" seek to escape. Akagi has called me "racist", "idiot" and "mean spirited" because I desire to protect what he desires. His contradictions bother him not. This is usually found in those with a personal gain in ignoring their inconsistencies.

Or, as the socialist, Upton Sinclair realized that: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it."

Current immigration law is a subject that begs the application of Sinclair's maxim in regards to the immigrant. It depends upon the immigrant not understanding the harm that they do to the place where they immigrate. They can't "get here from there".

Deport Illegals
Some may say why deport when they simply come back. I say because it is the law. Deport over and over again. Go for the employers and go for the illegals. We need no new laws. We simply need to take the law at it is written now and enforce that law. Also, the feds cannot do this by themselves. Loals need to start detaining and sponsoring deportation.

The media isn't helping
I nailed the Arizona Republic lying about the illegal's crime rate last week. The Sheriff's office reported that 21.8% of booking since they starting asking about immigration status were illegals. The Arizona Republic then reported that the rate was only 10%. It turns out that the AZ Rep used stats starting much earlier from when the Sheriff's Office wasn't even checking immigration status. I did a letter to my favorite editorialist and he printed my rebuttal a few days later.

I should also not that Dick Morris' book "Outrage" cites credible sources documenting that 27% of federal prisoners are illegally in the USA. I believe that JD Hayworth's book mentions about the same number.

It's apparent to me that there are many subversive, dishonest reporters and editors in today's media.

Latest Outrage
Here is the latest outrage I have seen from the scumbags in Congress who are trying to give the nation away. Everyone pay attention to the NAU thing; Bush has started it and I fear others will continue it.

Mother of 4 -- Low-Skill Work
"As long as there are able-bodied people on welfare we do not "need" anyone coming here who doesn't either bring unique skills otherwise unavailable or who doesn't intend to make a full commitment to being an American."

Well, that's your opinion.

Whether we "need" anyone or not is rather beside the point. What "we" need or don't need in terms of labor isn't up to you to decide.

"The "jobs Americans won't do" argument is complete bunk."

I never made that argument.

"If able-bodied people were forced to work rather than live on government handouts and if illegals weren't driving down wages for low-skill and entry-level work then the supply and demand would balance each other out setting the wages equal to the real cost of the labor and able-bodied people faced with the choice to work or starve would work."

Actually the only truth in that sentence is, "if able-bodied people were forced to work."

That much we can agree on.

As to the rest, the supply and demand will balance out in any event.

I wouldn't worry too much about driving down the wages for low-skill work. After all, no one promised anybody a "living wage." If you don't have the skills that demands a higher wage, you shouldn't expect anybody to subsidize your lack of skill. GET some skills, and your labor will be worth more.

But I'm talking about a system where aliens can come work legally instead of illegally. With such a system in place, their wages would probably trend upwards. Part of the reason they work as cheaply as they do is that they're working under threat of deportation. Remove that threat, and they'll start demanding higher wages.

Has anyone else noticed.
We have local municipalities that are tired of having to foot the bill for the cost of dealing with the illegals and are trying to do something about it. They are being hampered in their efforts because all the pro illegal crowd don't want them getting involved in a "Federal" issue and want judges to keep them from enacting their own local ordinances to deal with the growing problem. Safety cannot be used as an issue. We know how law abiding illegal aliens are. Most of these municipalities are in shall issue or right to carry states.

Next we have sacntuary cities that have passed local laws that hinder enforcement of Federal law concerning illegals. The majority of these cities are in states that are anti right to carry or are themselves extremely anti firearm and they want judges to rule that they have the right to restrict the constitutional right (2A)of their citizens because it is a safety issue. We all know how dangerous and untrustworthy law abiding citizens can be.

murderers and rapists
By granting amnesty to 20 million plus or minus 100%, we may be granting amnesty to murderers, rapists, thieves and drug smugglers.
Undocumented is what the pro-amnesty crowd wants to call them.
Undocumented because they sneak across the border with no documents, no birth certificate, no drivers license, no passport.
We know nothing about them except they are Mexican and they want to work.
These people are not good law abiding citizens or they would have some documentation.
How do we know that Mexico isn’t emptying out their jails and tell them “you’re free, but you must leave the country?
Castro did it in the seventies; he took murderers, rapists and thieves out of his jails put them on shoddy boats and sent them north to us. The results are all the Cuban gangs in Florida still with us today.
So all these undocumented people from Mexico just may be the rejects of Mexico, criminals from the get-go.
They have no remorse of breaking our laws, whether it’s coming in here illegally, obtaining a driver’s license illegally, social security card illegally, or a job illegally.
In my 58-year life here in the States, I have not broken so many laws, actually not even one.
If I as an American citizen got a fake social and drivers license and got caught I’d be in jail for quite a while.
My son and four other boys in their early twenties were going to Niagara Falls to the casinos. They held all four at the border, ran their records because one of them had a DUI conviction. They would not allow them into Canada, they had to come home.
No country in the world would accept any immigrant without papers, but we evidently do! Go figure.

no sympathy
I live in Los Angeles, ground zero for illegal immigration.
It's not racist to want controls on it and expect would be immigrants to respect the rules.
OTHER crimes happen exponentially in ways Americans absolutely could not get away with.
Like driving without a license, identity theft and using social security numbers illegally.
I work in law enforcement here. And we are hog tied and unable to interface with ICE even with those other illegal infractions.
And even once deported, many illegals return multiple times.
A terrorist entity need only see out lack of will and exploit it.
Oh, right...they've done that.
I couldn't vote for McCain OR Obama because they show the same lack of will to deal with this problem.
As we speak, Tejano music is being played LOUD and obnoxiously on my street. This is new and I resent the racket.
It doesn't matter where they are from, just don't bust in here like this country has no rules you need to abide by.

no sympathy cont.
My parents and grandparents survived Jim Crow and the Great Depression. They moved frequently and lived in the deep south most often. I lost ten aunts and uncles who died in childhood because of racist policies during an epidemic of cholera.
Yet, the civil rights movement showed the bravery and commitment to justice that my family cared about.
They were just as poor, desparate and outside of the protection of the Constitution as we are to believe is the illegal alien.
But...
MY family STAYED in America and MADE it do right by their citizenship, at great risk to themselves.
I see lots of protests and demands made especially by Latino (re Mexican) people here, but they don't seem to have the courage to face up WHERE IT MATTERS, like black folks did here.
And THEY are a homogenous population where blacks were only 10%.
Their problems won't go away if they keep running from them and our government shouldn't enable them OR their government to treat them that way.
So....where are the stones to demand countries south of the border do the right thing?

Hazleton PA leads the way!
I read in Schlafly's column that Hazleton, PA re-elected Lou Barletta by huge margins. Kudos to the Patriots in the Keystone State! Great work! I salute and admire you!!

I live in Houston. Illegal aliens threaten us daily. The violent gang MS-13 from Honduras has killed more than one of our school children.

At the Texas State House of Reps level, we just threw out a RINO replaced him with a Real American.

This is hand-to-hand political combat, defeating the RINOs one at a time.

Not a silver bullet, but it is all we have left.

To arms, all who love America.
