Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Power not only corrupts, it can educate. It can turn an attractive young politician given to empty slogans (Hope! Change! Audacity!) into a responsible leader wary of rash action. It's easy enough to second-guess those in power; any newspaper columnist can do it. I know. It's another thing to have to go beyond the catch phrases of a campaign and -- Good Lord! -- actually have to assume high office. And take responsibility for fateful decisions.

There will always be those eager to exercise power. They're the ones most likely to abuse it. But there are also those who, once they feel the weight of responsibility gathering about their shoulders, rise above their campaign promises. Reality begins to set in, and they begin to recognize it. The closer they come to power, the more prudent they grow. Another word for this process is maturity.

Which kind of politician is the next president of the United States? Barack Obama's fast-evolving course on the war in Iraq, and how to manage what begins to look like an American victory there, affords hope.

Consider the progress he's made: Senator Obama began his two-year campaign for the presidency by saying he would end this war Now! Later it would be within a definite time: 16 months.

As late as last July, laying out his policy for Iraq, he still sounded like a candidate who would act first and consider the consequences later. "I intend to end this war," he assured his followers. "My first day in office, I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in and I will give them a new mission, and that is to end this war -- responsibly, deliberately, but decisively."

The same month, holding a news conference in Jordan, he had to acknowledge that the Surge he'd opposed had made Iraq far more secure than he'd imagined it could, but he was still adamant about getting American troops out of Iraq forthwith, saying he'd overrule American commanders if necessary to meet his arbitrary deadline.

He didn't sound like someone who would chose the current administration's secretary of defense as his own. Or pick a tough-minded, strictly business Marine general (and an old friend of John McCain's) as his national security adviser.

Now president-elect, Barack Obama has done both. Reality dawns, and he's proceeded to recognize it by recasting his earlier, incautious remarks. Announcing Cabinet appointments, including still Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, he explained: "I said that I would remove our combat troops from Iraq in 16 months, with the understanding that it might be necessary -- likely to be necessary -- to maintain a residual force to provide training, logistical support, to protect our civilians in Iraq."

The muted reservations he once attached to his demands for a prompt withdrawal of American troops from Iraq now have replaced the withdrawal itself as a goal.

One of his advisers on foreign policy -- Richard Danzig -- used to say that the "residual force" the candidate would leave behind in Iraq might number from 30,000 to 55,000 troops. Now there's talk out of the Pentagon of as many as 70,000 American troops remaining in Iraq even beyond 2011, the year mentioned in the just approved agreement with an ever stronger, more independent Iraqi government.

As Iraq becomes a stable democracy and ally of the West in the heart of the Middle East, most Americans would not quibble over the size of the American force that would remain there or for how long. Any more than most Americans know or object to how many American troops now remain stationed in Germany or Korea in peacetime.

Barack Obama still cannot bring himself to utter the word victory in connection with Iraq, but he's at least backed away from his promises of what would have been a defeat. To quote the country's once and future secretary of defense, Robert Gates, "Nobody wants to put at risk the gains that have been achieved, with so much sacrifice, on the part of our soldiers and the Iraqis...."

So far the anti-war crowd, from MoveOn.org to the Impeach Bush crowd, hasn't seemed to much notice, let alone object, to Senator Obama's slow but steady change of course. Or perhaps, in the presence of an undeniable if unheralded success for American arms, even the angry left has come to recognize that defeat in Iraq may now be a lost cause.

As Barack Obama grows more realistic, the continuity of American foreign policy seems more assured each passing day. There's nothing like power to breed responsibility. And the closer Barack Obama gets to becoming president -- and commander-in-chief -- the more responsible he sounds. When it comes to Iraq, the next president of the United States is starting to sound remarkably like ... the current one.

Does Someone Have To Draw You A Picture?
Barack Hussein is already [even before Day 1] showing us what kind of a President he will be.

A dishonest, dissembling, scandalous one.

Embroiled in controversy because of his nefarious associations during the entire campaign, he's embroiled in another one before even taking his illegal oath of office.

The "big question" is: If, in fact, Obama knew Rahm Emanuel was presenting a list [approved by Obama]:

WHY DID HE LIE ABOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE OF HIS CHIEF-OF-STAFF'S CONTACT WITH THE GOVERNOR?

The problem is that the “ORIFICE OF THE PRESIDENT-ELECT” s first reaction to the queries of the Press about whether they had done, JUST THAT, LIED ABOUT IT!!

Disavowing ANY KNOWLEDGE OF ANY COMMUNICATIONS!!

Now, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Barack Hussein Obama [the President-elect], had full knowledge of these communications, and in fact, composed the list to be presented to the governor. So he had a surrogate call...that doesn't count as "no contact."

[a fact now being ignored in the press]

"The wicked man flees though no one pursues."

I ask you again, Why did he not tell what had transpired between his surrogate [Emanuel] and the Governor's people?

The only logical conclusion, is obviously, the one that accepts the fact that the president-elect is trying to cover up his involvement with this latest Blagojevich scandal.

And given the implications involved with his involvement with the whole Rezko-Blagojevich-Obama triangle...it should be obvious why his 1st impulse was to attempt to cover up any involvement with Blagojevich in attempting to make yet another "under-the-table" deal.

Mr. Greenburg?
With all due respect, sir:

HE HAS SHOWN YOU WHAT KIND OF POLITICIAN THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS.

Why are you still asking?

Does someone have to draw you a picture?

It remains to be seen
whether Obama will be a responsible commander in chief a puppet of the far left. The moves he has made over the past month have given me reason for a glimmer of hope, but I have to see some proof.

As I've said before on these boards, he is (will be) my president and I will respect him in that capacity, but I will not blindly follow him.

Open Season in Heart of Darkness
Op-ed: DUCKS ALL IN A ROW
Dishonorable politicians and those that fund them are a breed of fowl. If this gaggle quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and even swims with the ducks, they are primarily members of ‘The Mutual Blackmail Society” formally the US Democratic Party. They insure their protection and find wealth and sanctuary by mutual knowledge of each others crime. These ducks will now be in charge of the triumvirate of the “Separation of Powers” in Federal government that will no longer be ‘separated.’

Ranking high on the conspiracy list is the “Fourth Estate” the Press, or should we really mean; the absence of the ‘Fourth Estate.’ This journalistic vacuum is now filled with adolescent minded imposters. This subject is an enigma that has been around for centuries. The ‘Press’ was to be the last bastion of safety that would awaken the people to the deceptions that form a dictatorship and oppose its tyranny. Indeed the cancer of the absent Press or its corruption has harmed our nation from time to time. However honorable counter forces within the free press has come to the rescue.

It may be time for open duck season on these political predators that rob our US Treasury. Without the genuine performance of lawful institutions, our enemies will rule our lives.

I therefore hold the Federal Bureau of Investigation equally important, or accessory to the crime should they deny responsibility and swim with the ducks, especially since we pay their salary to be the hunter.

Sanity
Hard to tell if Greenberg's right, that sanity is in the offing, or that Obama will veer hard left socially, mandating and strengthening abortion and all the evil rest of the liberal social agenda - in spite of or even because of the friction and instability that'll cause - having left himself plenty of maneuvering room what with his centrist economic and other picks. We'll see.

In any case none of this says much for 'promises' by politicians of any stripe and merely reinforces my view that a huge fraction of politics is merely institutionalized bs (and not just 'formalized' politics, but politics wherever it occurs, in the judiciary, the Church, business, what have you). Hard to believe there's such an evident market for it but obviously, sadly, catastrophically, there is.

Duped by the Duper-in-Chief
Greenberg, like the 60+% of Jewish-American voters and dumbed down majority who voted for Obama in this largely race-based election, is duped by the audacity of the empty promise of hope for change.
Greenberg tries to put lipstick on the pig Obama's naivete, lack of any real experience worthy of the job as POTUS and probable Constitutional ineligibility based on the extent and expense to which Obama has gone to continue hiding his real, vault birth certificate
The job as POTUS is not an entry-level, do-it-with training wheels position. Nor is it, with its concomitant responsibilities as CINC, one to be held in time of war or peace by 1) a person of such questionable loyalty to base his campaign on hope for changing drastically such an evil and broken U.S.A., 2)a U.S. called "G-D America" by his pastor/mentor, 3) proud of for the first time in her life by his wife, and 4) such a long list of close friends and co-workers who have worked actively for the overthrow of our nation and its Constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms.

just glad he isn't worse
I think Mr. Greenberg is just glad Obama isn't worse. Aside from which Mr. Greenberg is one of those decent people who is willing to give someone a chance. Obama did win the election even though I think he's woefully underqualified for the job. The disquieting thing mentioned by Greenberg in his column is that Obama said he would remove combat troops "with the understanding it might be necessary to leave residual troops" or in other words he has always held his new position. Never changed. Nope. Not him. He's always struck me as thin skinned. This is another example.

I do not see this as maturation
on obamas part so much as now that his lies worked to get him elected, he can pretty much do as he pleases.

The man is totally unqualified for the office especially as CinC of the finest military in the world.

As someone who spent a third of my life in that organization, it disgusts me to think that someone with his anti-American friends and associates would be at it's head.

Obama will be the left's puppet, they set the table for someone like him for 40 years by their take-over of the schools and their PC garbage...we are at war with radical islam, this guy states in his book that he will stand with the muslims, yet this stupid, greedy electorate elects him over a proven, experienced leader like McCain.

Anyone who thinks that this guy crawled out of the sewer called Chicago politics clean is insane.

The Only Way to End A War,
The only way to end a war is to win it.

Wars left unfinished, suspended rather than won, are merely passed on to our children and our grandchildren.

Greenberg, Moving To The :Left?
In your last couple of articles, it sounds like you may be moving in the direction of Pelosi, Reid, Hussein, Schumer, and Fwank. Or is it to save skin after being towards the middle or right during the race? Greenberg:"And the closer Barack Obama gets to becoming president -- and commander-in-chief -- the more responsible he sounds." What is it that he has said that would lead you to this conclusion? Not going to pull all the troops on January 21? Did you believe that one too? I'm a middle income person and I'll be expecting a tax rebate, tax credit, more Soc Sec, free food, free electricity, free green auto, cleaner government, restoration of the American way around the world, free houses, free rent, and $.25 gasoline.

Paul, Paul, Paul....
You must remember the rules of Townhall....

We must immediately attack Barack Obama for what he's doing as President, even though he isn't President yet.

Otherwise the readers of Townhall will label you a traitor.

How dare you show any optimisim?

Don't you know that we conservatives are supposed to start buying ammunition for the coming civil war? LOL

stonesean/William
Flippancy and sarcasm will get you everywhere with the dim lib, "brainmoveon", Beavis and Butthead constituency. Common sense and facts are a no no.

Conservatives are quite capable of giving BO the benefit of the doubt, but when he spends two years playing to the aforementioned kooks with "end war now" and "eight years of failed Bush policy" mantra he has a long way to go. He will get the same treatment from us that the dims gave to Bush. No more and no less. However we will be quite more adept at using the facts because they will be just as obvious as the dim/pmm (Propagand Media Machine) ignored against Bush and will ignor in favor of BO. The dims (led by Teddy) lost Vietnam when the refused to support Ford's request for money and munitions after the commies broke the treaty (imagine that) and let the slaughter begin. You must have missed that headline too.

Gullibility
Extremely gullible for a newsman, aren't you, Mr. Greenberg. Obama is a pure Maciavellian of no core principles. His slow and steady drift toward reality, giving his base the frog in the heated pot treatment demonstrates as much. The problem is, once the Dems have an effective supermajority in the Senate, including the remaining Northeastern RINOs, there will be little self-interested reason for Obama to resist going along with their leftist policies.

other fish to fry
Iraq is (relatively speaking) going well, so I think the pres-elect is happy to let that sit on the back burner. His heart is in transforming the American infrastructure, and the Iraq war is now just "a distraction" (the phrase he used frequently in the campaign to discard any subject with which he didn't want to deal).

I agree with Greenberg that Obama has changed his tune regarding Iraq - but I think it is more a matter of recognizing he won't get to everything he wanted to do.

We get what we pay for
Let's face it, the Repubs deserved to lose this election. We mishandled our power when we had it, then we let the media pick our candidate, a man who stands for nothing we stand for, and in fact takes every opportunity to stab us in the back. We need to stop whining about what a crumb Barry is, and figure out how we are going to defeat him in two and then four years. We can't just sit on our hands and hope he is going to "move to the center" when we have no basis in fact to form an assumption like that.

He is a very liberal guy, who ran a very liberal campaign, and will more than likely turn out to be a very liberal President. We keep hoping he'll run the country like Clinton did, but he's not Clinton. Bill was a boob who just wanted the title to impress the ladies. Barry, judging by everything he's ever written or said, or by his voting record, buys into leftism with his entire being. His wife certainly does.

We need to get off our hands and start educating America about why Leftist policies are bad for us, U.S. We need to recruit and fund some fresh and exciting young men and women to take the Conservative banner and run with it. Stop hoping against hope that this guy was playing a joke all his life until now and start planning his defeat. we all need to get active and we need to start now, not two years from now.

What is this spell
That Ovomit, the Liberals new God casts upon intelligent journalists like Paul Greenbreg, and Mona Charen. Turning their brains to mush?

They've actually come to think a Leopard CAN change it's spots!

the Swimming pool test.

I am sick and tired of people complaining about a President changing his mind on this and that.

I think it is excellent that he admits he has changed his mind, for what ever reason.

I want a President that can look at the situation, examine the new facts he has just receive, the needs and wants of the people that he just heard about, then make the his decision, regardless of what his decision was a few minutes or a few months ago.

Among other things, if those opinions, either before or after he changed his mind are what I agree with or disagree with, tells me a lot about him.

If he changes his mind too often, and too easily, that also tells me something important about him and the advisors he has selected.

Just to repeat a little of my harangue about Presidential promises, remember my story of the swimming pool.

What if the President tells me, “I am going to do a high-dive into that swimming pool,” but when we get to the pool we find it has no water, so he doesn’t dive. Now, do I call him a liar for saying he would dive, but didn’t, or do I think he are very smart for looking at the situation, and making a proper decision for the circumstances that existed at that exact time?

Maybe, just maybe he will pass the Swimming pool test.

UNTIL HE CHANGES HIS MIND

.....I am going to go by what he said ...

.....He said he is going to pump Government money into green fuel industries, shut down the coal industry and get the Country off fossil fuels in ten years ...he said that he is going to impose a carbon tax (cap & trade) on utilities and manufacturing ...

.....He said he is going to disarm the US by shutting down our missile defense system and sign a treaty to ban nuclear weapons (Did treaties stop Hitler & Stalin)...

.....he said that his first order of business would be to sign a "Freedom to work Act" which is newsspeak for forcing unions down our throats ...if he does just one half of the things he promised he will bring our economy to its knees ...

.....Pelosi/Reid and gang have promised to put offshore drilling back off limits ...let's see if he signs it ...then maybe I might start believing that a leopard can change its spots .....COLOSSUS

His REAL agenda
All that pacifist blather during the campaign was just a ruse to gain frenzied support from the loony left, discredit the Republicans, and divide the nation so he could get elected to pursue his real agenda: advancing socialism in the USA. As president he's going to hire serious, competent foreign policy hawks to be sure his domestic campaign for socialized medicine etc. isn't interrupted by any distracting terrorist attacks. The minimal outrage from the Left over his foreign policy appointments confirms my view that their anti-war posture during the campaign was just a ruse to get a good domestic socialist elected.

Close but no cigar
The reason Obama has done in essence, a 180, on his Iraq policy is that he knows the consequences of a premature withdrawal of our troops will fall on him, not on President Bush.

Those consequences meant nothing to him during the campaign and in fact he tried several times to be instrumental in our defeat and humiliation in Iraq. Funny, when the finger of blame would shift to him how "pragmatic" he has become.

As for the tone of this article, I really am growing physically ill at the number of "conservative" writers who can't wait to put Obama in a glowing light. It seems that pandering is not limited to the left.

Obama's plan
Obama said that he intends to shut down the coal industry? He presented it as just stopping new coal-fired power plants from being built. There is a lot more to coal than that. This move will shut down the coal, iron, and steel industries and every industry that uses coal, iron, and steel.
Coal is used to power some trains and to make iron ore into iron the metal.
Coal is used to heat pig iron to form it.
Coal is roasted to make it into coke.
Coke is used to convert iron the metal into steel the metal.
Coal is used to form steel ingots into shapes like I-beams.
Steel is made into parts like nuts and bolts, angles, rebars, etc.
Reinforcing bars are needed for reinforced concrete.
Steel parts are made into machines such as lathes, harvesters, etc.
Shutting down coal would put us into the status man had before fire was discovered.

When all these industries go out of business, they will no longer pay the many taxes they now pay, nor pay the employees’ income taxes, nor pay the new taxes that put them out of business.

They say they will end paying $700 billion per year to buy oil from foreigners. They won't start us drilling our own oil to become energy independent. They will just make oil inaccessible to us. This means no more gasoline, diesel oil, home heating oil, and lubrication. Presently, when it comes to gouging on the price of oil and gas, government is the only gouger (45% of the price).

DanNV
Is "the number of "conservative" writers who can't wait to put Obama in a glowing light" any different than your effort to find only reasons to put him in a sour light?

People with narrow vision don't always have to be looking at the same thing.

Haha
You know the country has moving to the left when conservatives journalists like Obama. God bless this country.

Kudos to Seawolf
I agree with the premise of the article and the sobering effect it will have on the POTUS elect. I tend to believe seawolf's pramatic view and feel that Obama will fail us. He sold himself as a Messiah and the voters believed the illusion. He promised everything to everyone to get elected and now he is trying to roll back all expectations. He is a Chicago politician that will try to make deals and enrich himself.
I pray for the people of America and may God continue to bless us.

Mother of 4
Sadly, wars that inspire our enemies and create new ones usually don't have a victorious end either, and will be passed on to our children and grandchildren just the same.

Cutting and running from Iraq isn't a good strategy. Not having a strategy at all is also not a good strategy. Iraq has been bungled and mishandled from the beginning and our strategy over the last few years has been little more than damage control.

I am wondering what will happen if the rebels in Iraq will resume the violence we've known there for the last few years if Obama decides to use the same strategy/non-strategy that the Bush administration has.

I very reluctantly think we will have to stay there indefinitely. The Iraq "war" will never really be won. What the Bush administration has given us is far more heinous than we care to admit. He has given us a black hole that may show us some signs of hope occasionally but ultimately will continue to be something we throw the lives of our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, friends, and family at for a long time to come. As long as we stay, we will not have "defeat". I just do not think we will ever have victory either.

Obama's plan 1
Democrats have trillions of dollars of new taxes written up in bills, waiting to be passed: The carbon credit tax, Rangel's tax, Obama's UN tax, Obama's gasoline tax, the gas pump tax, etc.

You cannot convince a person or a corporation to start a new business or expand an existing business, increase jobs, and hire new employees, when you tax away the money he is paying his PRESENT employees, or make healthcare affordable by taxing all of the component providers.

Taxes that hurt white Americans also hurt African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans. Every dollar taxed away from a business owner is a dollar that cannot be used to expand, or be paid to an employee. Every dollar taxed away from a farm owner cannot be paid to employees, and increases the price of food paid by everybody. Every dollar taxed from healthcare component providers is added to the cost of every phase of healthcare: hospitals, doctors, drugs, bandages, syringes.

The basic fact about taxation in America is this:
WE THE PEOPLE PAY ALL TAXES; and we the people are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Since there is only one source of all tax revenue, there should be only one tax to collect it. It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, individual tax levied on living persons. This would eliminate all existing taxes from the price of everything, and reduce that price by one-third (1/3). The only way you can implement tax policies and programs and make prosperity possible for everyone is TO ELIMINATE TAXES.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES DO NOT PAY TAXES! This includes politicians, bureaucrats, school teachers, etc. What they claim to pay as taxes are actually reductions in the amount they take out of the Treasury. Police, Firefighters, and Military members are always worth far more than they are paid.

Obama's plan 2
Obama said that he intends to shut down the coal industry? He presented it as just stopping new coal-fired power plants from being built. There is a lot more to coal than that. This move will shut down the coal, iron, and steel industries and every industry that uses coal, iron, and steel.

Obama's plan
Did you learn the recent lesson that giving home loans to people that can't pay them back, does not help them? It hurts them and everybody else. Do you agree that letting business owners use their operating capitol to start new businesses, expand existing ones, create more jobs, and enable employees to buy homes they can afford, is better than giving it to government to waste?

Do you remember 1990, when Dems greatly increased business taxes to force employers to lay off workers to cause a recession to make the people angry with President Bush 41? Many employers were forced out of business or to move out of the country. This is called outsourcing, and destructive taxation is a main cause. Destructive taxation is a main cause of the present problems with the economy. You’re probably not aware, but in 1991, the Dem-controlled PA state government did the same thing, destroying much of PA’s business and industry. They knew what would happen, and PA still has not begun to recover from this.

Many African-Americans have had good careers in the Military. Obama wants to disband the military and replace it with a domestic force. Does the term “Gestapo” or “KGB” ring a bell? He won't use the people now in the military to staff his domestic force. They have too much honor and love of country to do what he would order them to do to us the people. Look for millions of Mexican illegal aliens to be given amnesty and full citizenship and recruited for this force.

Yea, save it.
No need to defend obama's actions. He is always slow to respond so that he has a chance to cover his ***. And of course, gotta make sure his surrogates are all on agreement on what to say, and when.

Love how he appoints himself an investigative team to check out that he has done no wrong.

He is Chicago politics to the bone.

Obama's Modus Operandi
B.Hussein came out and hemmed and hawed and told his lies and many people believed him. Poor things.

When he stammers and stutters,he is parsing his words, just like Slick Willie was fond of doing. Both congenital liars. Even Democrats admitted that.

He did what he had to do to get elected. That is all that mattered. Getting elected. Liberals, you got your man. We will all be sorry you did.

Some people seem to believe

that a leader can be divided into parts.

He can support the murder of innocent pre-born children and at the same time represent the best interests of those he allows to live.

I do not buy it.

Character cannot be partitioned!!!
`

Eddie Too
Unfortunately, being pro-choice and being able to make good decisions about other things are not connected and it's silly for you to even suggest that simply because you're anti-abortion.

Nate,

that just means you believe character can be partitioned.

Nate
That's why they call it "free speech." We get to say what we mean. Kinda neat huh!

Raspberries!!!Please stop the insanity!!
I have never liked Obama and never will. He is the slippery cocktail at the office party. He is the plastic boob. He is the toilet paper on the bottom of a shoe. He is the comb-over. He is a huge fake! He represents the "long con" of the scam artist who SUCCESSFULLY appears to be what he is not. We will be watching this fiasco/crime spree for the next 2 years at least.

I LOVE MY COUNTRY! I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! I CANNOT ACCEPT TREASON WHEN IT TRIES TO PASS FOR TRUTH. I feel very disgusted at this haughty, narcissistic, inexperienced shyster who led the dumbest of the dumb to the edge of the cliff.
He hasn't got the goods and he never will have them. Flawed is as flawed does! What a tragedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delusional
If anyone thinks Barak is anything other than what he said he was, is somking something! Just because his appointments look like Hillary lite, does not mean ha is not a Marxist! Marxism is all the man knows, he has been fed that crap since he was in the womb. Regardless of anything you might see, he is and will remain, a duck! These appointments are a veiled attempt to make nice with RINO's. Those who do believe in true conservative principals know there is nothing genuine about todays Democrat. They are about gaing power! Batak is a clueless Marxist who is caught up in something he can no longer control. The party that believes in nothing, or anything if they think it will increase their grip on power!
The fairness doctrine will indeed become law and destroy radio! What next, the fairness doctrine in our bedrooms?

Yeah...Reality Dawns, Alright 1

With his latest Cabinet appointee, he can help Nancy Pelosi complete her job, [who in her own words on July 29 while in the midst of $4.00 p/gallon plus gasoline prices, and not even allowing for a vote in the House on drilling, and against the will of over 73% of the American public, declared: "I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet."
Obama, yesterday, picked Berkeley Lab Director Steve Chu for Energy Secretary, who told the Wall Street Journal in September:

"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

Chu said he favors gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to nudge [read: extort]consumers into buying cars that are more fuel efficient and homes that are closer to work.

Chu spoke with the WSJ in September but the newspaper didn't publish the tax comments until last week, shortly after he was identified as Obama's nominee for Energy secretary.

http://sec.online.wsj.com/article/SB122904040307499791.html

Is this the "change we can believe in" that Obama was talking about.

How does this insanely radical nutjob's proposal not mean a tax increase for the Middle class; the working class?

Is this a tax break?

...why, yes!

...guaranteed to break one off in your @$$

Yeah..Reality Dawn's Alright..2

This coupled with Obama's saying:
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/kerry-picket/2008/11/02/obama- energy-prices-will-skyrocket

"The problem is not technical, and the problem is not sufficient mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington."

"The problem is can you get the American people to say this is really important and force [force?] their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry [read: brainwash with global warming nonsense]. That requires them [the ignorant masses] understanding what is at stake, and climate change [we need to stop the climate from changing,i.e.,contol the universe's thermostat from a secret bunker in Al Gore's basement, I suppose] is a great example."

"When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal...under my plan of cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket...even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas...you name it...whatever the plants were [note past tense],whatever the industry was, they would have to retro-fit their operations."

From the donkey's [read: @$$'s mouth]:

1.Higher gasoline prices & taxes

2. Skyrocketing electricity rates ["necessarily"]

Change you can believe in?

...absolutely.

Aren't we going to be so-o-o much better off now that we have a good president like Barack Hussein Obama?

I'd say that Obama reality is already setting in for me too...

...I don't know about you...

...I can't wait...

...can you say...pass the Vaseline?

greenberg and his koolaide
seems like greenberg has joined the trolls in thinking the messiah's office of president elect has actually accomplished something.

The msm wants us to believe the majority of americans fully buy into the nonsense the messiah has a clue.

The proof comes on jan 20th. We are told the dims plan on hitting the road running with more promised corporate welfare and more bailouts to grow the treasury.

The messiah has promised a line by line examination of where the fed can cut spending but we will believe this fantasy when we see it. The dims have never seen a govt program they have ever seen as needing cuts except the military.

We have seen the budget run by the dims for the past two years and econo0mists warn of $trillion dollar deficits for the entire term in office of the messiah as he remains clueless about the economy.

leopards and spots
sorry, Mr. Greenberg... this guy has spent his entire adult life under a cloud of lies, lousy pick in friends and 'advisors', and Communist beliefs. Imagine... his quote "own lawyer" unquote, says that there has been no 'connection' with the present and ongoing Chicago senate seat replacement!! Yeh, let's have the fox inspect the chicken house! And are we hearing 'outrage' from the media? It won't matter what this 'pretender-to-the-throne' says...it isn't likely to change his (core?) beliefs.

Stirling [WA]...comments...

Stirling, we may as well get used to it. His staff said their review of their conduct in this matter exonerates them from any "inappropriate conduct" and the MSM, much like the liberals who post on these threads, react by accepting that as being all the "credible evidence" they need; case closed.

You have to understand, these people are not going to let anything spoil their January 20 coronation, orgy [or fairy tale wedding to the Obama's]-take your pick.

There'll probably be more babies aborted in September and October 2009, than in any time in in history, as a result!

...they're like the little kid who, upon being told troubling & scary news, puts their fingers in their ears and go....la la la la la..

Early days
I figure Obama has no values and would do anything to win. He won by making idiotic promises he cannot even try to keep, so no matter how bad he is, he will still be better than he looked while running for office.

I certainly would not call that any sort of change, though.

We will just have to buckle down and see how things turn out.

He, OB. will do whatever
Whatever it takes!! I've said since long before the Election, that Mr OB will talk out of whatever side of his mouth suits his immediate purposes..He always has done that..I'm "keeping a list" of his Disciples" rantings and will be very quick to Name Names when his Majesty goes to the Center (or worse) and he finds out that he can't Appease the Left all the time.. I wish him the best of Luck..My Kids' future depends on it!! His future is NOT MY CONCERN!!

Obama is an unknown

What we do know is there has never been a successful Liberal President.

Obama a changed man?
NOT LIKELY!
An old saying says that a Leopard cannot change his spots and neither can "The One", "The Messiah" of The Party of Evil.
His beliefs have been forged over many years of contact with the political machinations of Chicago politics as well as the influence of the evils of The Liberal Left not to mention other factors that I won't inumerate.
He won't change asnd we're all foolish to even consider that he or his Party of Evil can change.
Just look at all the mess that has been generated since Demoncrats came into power in 2006. Have things been better? The way I see it things have only gotten worse. The leaership of all the FOOLS of the Party of Evil have only brought us closer to the pit of Failure.
The only "Change" I would like to see would be for him to resign and sequestor himself in some far-off place like Russia, Iran or perhaps Antarctica or even Kalifornia or Illinois.

Power aned responsibility
It's amusing that the German people thought, in the early '30s, that this Hitler fellow, although radical in his campaign speeches, would certainly become more moderate once the reality of power and the necessities of governance became apparent. And so they voted for him in a fair, democratic election.

It would seem that even erudite columnists may have failed to learn from history; unfortunately, we will all have to repeat it.
