Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

By the choices we make we define ourselves. We reveal our biases and beliefs. And so, too, do our institutions.

In writing the $789 billion stimulus bill, Congress revealed that, for all its "Buy American" blather, it does not truly put America first. It does not believe that 10 million jobless Americans, in the country their fathers built, should receive any preference in hiring 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens who broke into this country and owe her no loyalty, allegiance or love.

Is this a slur on the patriotism of some of our congressmen? You betcha.

What other conclusion can one reach after Congress refused to require that employers on construction projects, paid for by U.S. tax dollars in the stimulus bill, verify that their workers are Americans?

For that is precisely what Congress did.

The first paragraph of the front-page story in USA Today says it all. "Los Angeles -- Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states like California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say."

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, illegal aliens will take 300,000 of the 2 million construction jobs to be created by the stimulus bill. The CIS figure is based on Census Bureau estimates that 15 percent of all construction workers are illegal aliens or immigrants who are not authorized to work in the United States.

Robert Rector of Heritage Foundation concurs with the figures on the number of jobs Congress just voted to give to non-Americans.

"Without specific mechanisms to ensure that workers are U.S. citizens or legally authorized to work, it is likely that 15 percent of these workers, or 300,000, would be illegal immigrants."

Other experts put the figure far higher than 15 percent, and certainly higher in California and other Southwestern states, where illegals tend to congregate.

In taking these jobs, illegals will be shouldering aside unemployed Americans. Yet Congress could have, with one vote, guaranteed that virtually every job paid for by U.S. taxpayers would go to U.S. workers.

How? By mandating that all beneficiaries of stimulus money use the E-Verify program of the Department of Homeland Security, which lets employers check the validity of the Social Security number of all new hires. E-Verify is available on a voluntary basis. It is simple, swift and easy to use.

Indeed, E-Verify is becoming standard operating procedure for U.S. businesses that wish to obey the law. According to NumbersUSA, U.S. businesses have used E-Verify in 3 million inquiries this year alone. That is almost half the total of 6.6 million inquiries for all of 2008 and five times the rate of use in 2007.

E-Verify is a smashing success with an accuracy rate of over 99 percent that holds out promise of a day when every employer in America will be able to ensure that every employee is an American or someone authorized to work here. At its rising rate of use, one-fourth to one-third of all new hires could soon be checked by E-Verify.

Isn't this what we all want, what we have all sought -- an easy, verifiable, non-intrusive, inexpensive way for businesses to assure that those they hire are in our country legally?

No, it is not. For Tuesday night, the Senate voted to strip away this protection of American workers from the unfair competition of illegal aliens.

The Senate voted 50 to 47 to end E-Verify in six months, when current funding runs out. Sen. Jeff Sessions' proposal to give this successful program five more years was rejected 50 to 47.

Republicans and seven Democrats voted to save E-Verify. But only Democrats voted to kill it.

How did Harry Reid kill the E-Verify provision that was in the House version of the stimulus package? The Senate was not even allowed to vote on it. And when the two bills were reconciled in the Pelosi-Reid conference, E-Verify disappeared.

This was a huge victory for La Raza and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, whose lobbyists have labored long to ensure that their member companies pay no price for dumping U.S. workers and hiring illegal aliens.

Yet, this battle is not over. If Americans understand that the Pelosi-Reid Democrats have no problem with illegal aliens taking jobs from unemployed Americans, that party can be made to pay a price in 2010.

As of today, there exists a Republican-Blue Dog Democrat coalition in both houses that is serious about putting our country and countrymen first, be it on spending bills or trade measures. This is a foundation to build on.

E-Verify is not dead. For the Reid-Pelosi-Obama Left cannot survive the perception that it is aiding and abetting illegal aliens in taking the jobs of unemployed Americans.

And The Alternative Is?
After 8 years of George "Jorge" Bush and the nomination of John McCain, no conservative has any credibility to criticize the Democrats on immigration. If you wish to criticize the entirety of what has become the "ruling class," go for it, but to say that this nonsense will send people running to the bosom of the GOP is to ignore reality and/or pander to the uninformed.

Give us a name of someone who will stand firm against illegal immigration and bid us support him, or remain silent.

I voted for Tancredo in the primaries. Seeing how well he did, I can only think that neither party has any room left for patriotic Americans.

Yes, you betcha!
Incredible. Why follow the law when people whose very existence in this country is evidence that they have broken the law?

What is the value of American citizenship when illegal immigrants get free health care, housing allowances, and send their kids to college at "in State" rates here in California?

WIth all the unemployment
GET THE ILLEGALS OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!

It's crazy that anyone in government would want to rob Americans of paying jobs but that's what they're doing.
Then we have Eric Holder using Mexico as an excuse to try and grab our guns.

I want a divorce from the Obama administration. It's no longer a healthy relationship. He's trying to force a co-dependency sick relationship on us and I won't stand for it!

I have a divorce decree from a law student which spells it out perfectly on my blog..copy and paste it and mail it to your government officials. Maybe they'll get a clue.

Jobs and education
have been the bootstraps by which Americans have been lifting themselves up the social and economic ladder for centuries. Now these indispensable adjuncts to the American dream are in the hands of the party which has led the way in trying to minimize and destroy their effectiveness. Strangely, this has been done by the very folks who will suffer their loss the most. I wonder if the losers will ever figure it out. Not much signs of it so far, but maybe a few years of Carter-level unemployment will help.

The Solution is Easy
This problem will have to be solved by the people themselves. They will have to take matters into their own hands. No longer can we depend on our rulers to govern properly. They ignore us because they sense we are now too stupid to understand what they are doing to us, or too lethargic to take action to stop their war on us.

They exploit our acceptance of the rule of law and our civility. Therefore, we have to change. The unemployed can regain the jobs lost to illegals by taking them back, by force. Unemployed Americans might want to consider harassing and molesting illegals so that those wage thieves fear mistreatment and go back home.

But won’t the government strike back at real Americans? Yes, of course they will. They will send all sorts of heavily armed troops to enforce the laws giving preference to illegals and they will assume that Americans will submit to the rule of law as they always do, like ox and sheep.

But haven’t we learned anything from Al Queda, who learned everything they know about America from the Viet Cong? America’s authority is easily defeated when it encounters a determined foe with the will to win.

The correct strategy is not to fight the armed men who appear on the scene to enforce illegal laws. That is futile. Those heavily armed men are sent by timid clerks who after they issue their orders, leave their offices for their safe homes to enjoy their families and big TVs. They are the weak link.

Identify and locate them. Drag one out of his house and beat him, or worse as an example to other clerks. Soon those clerks will stop issuing orders.

And the illegals will be gone. Real Americans will take the jobs. Unemployment will decrease. Crime by illegals will decrease. Government expenditures on safety nets for illegals will decrease. Budget deficits and taxes will decrease.

And our rulers’ respect for us will increase.

Please.... not rulers
Not even leaders. Those who work in government jobs are public servants. They are elected or appointed government employees. In their role as representing the people of America, they may be referred to as elected or appointed ambassadors or officials, but definitely not leaders or rulers. The whole mind set is wrong. Legislators, administrators, and judges who serve at the pleasure of the people. Instead of adding more government jobs, we should be eliminating as many as possible, just like private companies are having to do.

George Washington had it right. "Government is not reason. It is not eloquence -- it is force! Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

The founders knew, intuitively, that neither religion nor the press should consist of or be directed by government employees. Unfortunately, they have become coopted anyway, making the task of restraining government ever harder.

Buy American
The "Buy American" aspect of the bill was idiotic. What private sector business restricts itself to sourcing from a single country?

Should the workers on jobs on government funded projects be certified as legally entitled to work in the US? Of course.

Vigilantes--I
JD:

"The unemployed can regain the jobs lost to illegals by taking them back, by force. Unemployed Americans might want to consider harassing and molesting illegals so that those wage thieves fear mistreatment and go back home."

MALDEF, ACLU, SPLC and a host of others will not take these acts lying down and those who "molested" the illegals would find themselves in jail and on the losing end of a large damage award.

"...they will assume that Americans will submit to the rule of law as they always do, like ox and sheep."

A valid assumption. Which brave man goes first to "take back" his rights. The Japanese have a saying on this sort of thing. The high nail gets pounded down. WHo is willing to go first to be crushed like a bug?

"But haven’t we learned anything from Al Queda, who learned everything they know about America from the Viet Cong? America’s authority is easily defeated when it encounters a determined foe with the will to win."

The Viet Cong were completely destroyed at Tet. The rest of the war was carried out by the NVA (something the Veit Cong have said was probably the intent of the north as there was now no longer an alternative anti-RVN force besides Hanoi). The Viet Cong fought against the US and its ally to RVN from 1954 until it was no longer a functional force in 1968. Any Americans you know willing to go to the bush and fight a Maoist insurgency-type war for 14 years? I don't.

and Part II
"The correct strategy is not to fight the armed men who appear on the scene to enforce illegal laws. That is futile. Those heavily armed men are sent by timid clerks who after they issue their orders...

Identify and locate them. Drag one out of his house and beat him, or worse as an example to other clerks. Soon those clerks will stop issuing orders."

A strategy the "Viet Cong" used as well. When you go after timid clerks, the US will send armed men to stomp your guts out. You can try to kill them too. But it will take much time to bleed the US police and military to a point you can defeat it.

"And the illegals will be gone. Real Americans will take the jobs. Unemployment will decrease. Crime by illegals will decrease. Government expenditures on safety nets for illegals will decrease. Budget deficits and taxes will decrease.

And our rulers’ respect for us will increase."

And we'll live happily ever after. The end.

Okay. Nice fairy tell. Who's next? Okay. I'll start "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..."

Arturick
It would help if your anti-immigration champion wasn't also a nutcase--nuking Mecca?

Also, if you look on the list of what areas are important to Americans--immigration is way way down on the list. Even among Hispanics, immigration fell to 6th place as "extremely important" just above energy policy and this mirrors attitudes of the general population. Immigration is a good red meat topic at TH and sure to get hundreds of responses, but it just doesn't hit the same cord with outside echo chambers like this and you see that with the failures of the hardlineers on immigration at both the presidential level (Hunter, Tancredo) and the congressional level as well. With people who made immigration key to the campaign being swept aside.

There is another way . . .
to restore constitutional government.
It would take approximately 270 two man teams to observe the "selectees" daily activities and travel routes. Careful observation would be required and could take months (if not years). This would require all personnel involved to be totally trustworthy and committed to the "cause". Infiltrators and other "plants" would have to be indentified and dealt with accordingly.
On the appointed day and time (preferably July 4) the "selectees" would receive their "treatment".
The next session of "both houses" would be memorable for the number of "empty seats". Later in the day, a warning would be issued by those of the "cause".

Pat again
"As of today, there exists a Republican-Blue Dog Democrat coalition in both houses that is serious about putting our country and countrymen first, be it on spending bills or trade measures."

Drinking Pat's Snakeoil won't put the US or its citizens first. What it will do as history has shown is make America less prosperous not more and its citizens worse off, not better. In 2006, 28% of the US GDP was directly related to international trade. Pat's idiotic 1930 mentality would slash that. You think today is bad? Follow Pat's advice and Hoover's economy would look like a runaway economic engine.

As for his other claim on 2010. Sorry Pat, as the data shows, immigration is just not that important to actually make people vote on it and turn it into a "one-issue" issue you see on such things as abortion and guns.

2010 looks like a great year for Obama and the DP. Obama is at what 63%?

Ti
And then the government would track most of these so-called patriots down and execute them. The US is actually reasonably competent at tracking down people and the US has a very long memory and staying power. You can make the US quit a fight, but you have to spill a good amount of blood and make it look as there will never be a successful outcome to its current policy. The US quit Vietnam, it quit Lebanon, it quit Somalia. I am thinking killing hundreds of US congressman on US soil would make the US pretty dedicated not to give up the fight.

To carry this out you might want to ally with states or non-state actors who could provide funds, equipment, intelligence, and the like, but what they may want in exchange might be too stiff of a price for you--the destruction of the US for example.

However, I am also pretty sure that any who did this would not be willing to put in the years of combat the US would be willing to and I am betting this group would be pretty easy to infilitrate by the agents of the US government. It was able to do so with the Klan, the Mob, various homegrown terrorists, etc. Since you have already posted your plans on a public, non-secure website, your ability for a secure command and control regime seems doubtful. My bet this group would be infilitrated and given bait by the FBI and arrested before anyone was ever in danger of being killed. Like that so-called domestic terrorist cell down in Miami a few years ago. Narseal Batiste who told an FBI informant he wanted to wage Jihad. Of course they were no more a terrorist cell than you are. Seriously, I'd be careful about posting this sorta thing. The US government especially the Federal Buruea of Idiots have no sense of humor in this regard and basically put those 6 in Miami in prison for doing little more than you have done here.

TJ
Sorry I emant TJ not Ti, the blasted underline at TH makes lower case letters difficult which is why people often refer to me as Akaqi and not Akagi.

Akagai
Those parasites that feed off our legal sysem are the very clerks I spoke off in my earlier post.

They have been allowed to terrorize Americans because they're permitted the resources of government to extort the wealth of their enemies. They've remained untouched because no one's thought to go after them. Their victims fear losing wealth if those civil rights insects are annoyed.

But the unemployed and disenfranchised might be more dangerous to these cockroaches. When men have nothing, they have nothing to loose as we said in the '60s.

The staff of the ACLU and other such organizations are cowards hiding behind armed men at their disposal. But suppose one, then another, and perhaps more, are abused or worse. Suppose this is widely publicized and further suppose that regardless of the righteous indignation by the Feds, threats of our government to find the culprits, the promises of beefed up security and all the other boasting and posturing of the government, these petty tyrants continue to be molested.

Very quickly these little cockroaches will be silenced, and will find more usefull lines of work.

This is the Iraqi way. It is the way of the Mexican drug cartels. It is effective. Why else does the world bend over for the "religion of peace"? Why else does a relatively small gang of thieves take over a sovereign nation?

You know what I say is true. It is precisely why you felt compelled to respond to my earlier post. It bothers you. It means I'm right.

You can only hope the unemployed are mostly made up of Obama supporters: stupid, brain dead mouth breathers who'll listen to any secular potentate who comes along and promises them everything for nothing, and who keep their heads down munching on grass waiting for some shepherd to nudge them to a different part of the Federal pasture.

Akagi
Its OK to disagree with Vigilante action and Ku Klux Klan type violence. There are many downsides. Violence and pain are often irreversible and all too often exactly the wrong people get hurt. But don't set up stupid straw men and demolish them as arguments that vigilantes can't bring down a government, or even easier, cow and control a population. One sniper paralyzed Md. Va. and DC for weeks. Where was the ACLU and your various other alphabet soups, including the FBI, the MDSP, the VBI, and every expert traffic citation enforcement officer in the region? This one guy took out like 10 people in 3 weeks. 200 like him would paralyze the country. They wouldn't be fighting in the boonies for 14 years. They'd just go home, where they had been living as solid citizens for 50 years. How long and how expensive was the unibomber? The country remains at peace because capable men are law-abiding and revere morality. If ever this attitude should change, no numbers of LE officers would stomp anybody. Randy Weaver collected millions when the FBI shot his son and wife.

Our constitution, as the Founders knew and articulated, was set up to govern an honest, responsible population who valued the Judeo/Christian morality system. If a solid minority ever decides the end justifies the means, its chaos and will be settled only Mao style, by force. The last couple times this happened we were lucky enough to have decent men leading the winning side. This is not a guarantee.

Who Profits?
I agree that it is crime that the stimulus gets a double hit. First, those 300,000 jobs taken by illegal immigrants. The second hit is that 300,000 citizens will probably remain on unemployment.

When will this country realize that business will always do what they can to increase profits and/or compensation. Just look at the banks. If hiring an illegal immigrant makes the CEO/owner more money they will do it nine times out of ten. Currently, there is very little risk to hire illegals, so our citizens suffer.

Citizens should come first, then legal immigrants and that's it. Remember to buy American, but as the statistics point out, American isn't always American. See the blog; http://www.proudlymadeinAmerica.com

Do all of you leftist keypunchers get your scripts from the same source?

The reason I ask is that you threaten us with arrest and confinement for posting here in Townhall. This threat has been used often by leftists over the many months I've been in here and so far no such action's been taken.

These warnings usually come when leftists get angered and frustrated over postings that really upset them. We've been told the FBI is coming, or the Secret Service or some other agency.

But again, it's never happened.

Just wondering.

Pistol
I am well aware that a few crazies can do much harm, but the question is can they win and that would take years. Look at the Shining Path it fought for 12 years and did much terrorizing, but in the end it failed. So have the MILF in the Philippines as well as the New People's Army have failed. No doubt a few crazies could kill a few Congressman, but that wouldn't stop them from acting.

I am betting on few Americans willing to wage a Maoist-type war, but it is the way to fight if you wanted to defeat the US. By 1949, the PLA had 4 million men and at the re-start of the Civil War in 1945 it had 1.2 million. In 1937, it was only 30,000. But are you going to get 30,000 Americans to start going out to use violence as a means? They didn't even do that in the 1930s when things were much more bleak.

I am not saying it can't happen, I am just saying it is very very unlikely. And by the time it was all over, the US wouldn't be worth living in anyway. If this came to pass, I'd advise people to get passports in order.

TJ, Akagi
TJ, Akagi is right about LE infiltration of any organized long term effort. Israel has infiltrated most of Al Queada, which is probably a big factor in dealing with oncoming 9/11's.

Akagi
Nobody infiltrated the Unibomber or the DC sniper. They were exposed by informers who knew and suspected them. Chaos as i envisage would be the result of independent action. Suppose McVeigh, instead of murdering a bunch of people, including 16(memory)kindergardners, had taken specific action against the agent who machine gunned Weaver's child or the agent who shot Weaver's wife with a baby in her arms. What would be a possible reaction to his trial (supposing they caught him, a big suppose)? More of the same by copy cats?

JD
Not a leftist. But as I said advocating murder is not looked on by the FBI and other humorless organizations as funny. They use terms like terrorist threats instead. The so-called "terrorist cell" in Miami were sent to prison for not much more.

Michael:

"Citizens should come first, then legal immigrants." In most cases that would illegal. There are some cases where the is a BFOQ to hire only US citizens--the Secret Service for example, but in most cases it is illegal to discriminate in hiring between a legal pernament resident and a US citizen.

Second, Buy American is foolish from an economic standpoint. It does you or anyone else really any favors. There are a host of reasons why this is foolish--first, few American products are in fact really American. How many non-US components are inside a US-made computer or a US made car? Is a Toyota Tundra made in the US less American than a Dodge Ram 1500 made in Mexico? Second, economics is a study of scarcity. An extra dollar you spend on a US product is a dollar you can't invest or save or spend on another product (perhaps made in the US). Did George W. Bush tarrifs on imported steel in 2001 help you as a car buyer--as both domestic and imported cars went up in price or a host of other products that use steel? No.

Buy American also rewards companies that may be inefficient or those that make terrible products. Competition is good and buying products simply because they are American undermines this. If Americans want to earn your business they should do so based on price and quality, not the flag on the outside of the box. I don't care if a product is made in Mali someplace--only thing that matters if price and quality. I don't even look where a product is made when I buy it. Only exception to this is beer--I tend to favor a few brands (all non-US ones).

Akagi of 11:33
You post a sensible reply. Since we are basically in wild speculation it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go much further. I did want to register disagreement with your original description of effective government action against a spontaneous series of vigilante attacks.
As for being not worth living, I'd say that depends on the policies of who wins. It worked out just fine when it was G. Washington, not so well when it was Castro.

Pistol
Lone wolves are difficult, but the TJ post was an organized effort not a few wolves. And even lone wolves can be tracked down and stopped.

Eric Rudolph's Army of God (only him), the Unibomber, the DC-snipers, McVeigh--all were caught. I agree though that in regards to McVeigh--if he was so upset as to murder--he should have gone after those who actually were responsible for Waco and Ruby Ridge, not a federal building filled with innocents.

My best advice to him would have been if the US has gotten so bad, leave it. If I had been in his shoes, leave the US, gain citizenship in another country and then renounce your citizenship and shake the dust from your feet (the dust being the US) as it were.

Pistol
But in the Revolution's case, it was well organized (mostly) armies under a leadership structure and not a bunch of armed bandits. Life after the revolution went on pretty much as it had before, the economic disruption was rather modest. In this case you'd have groups of men (and women too I guess) each with loyality to their own leaders and not some organic whole. It would be like the warlords in China at the end of the Qing. The Nationalists were never really able to control them and bring them into the government--one of which (Marshal Zhang Xueliang) kidnapped Chiang Kai-shek in 1936 and made him stop the war against the communists and unite with them against the Japanese. The ROC in China was never able to stop the chaos left over from the end of the Qing and the warlords were a good part of the reason why.

You'd have constant warfare between the cells trying to see who could unify the country under their banner (like Afghan after the Soviets or in another Chinese context, the Warring States). And believe me when it finally did happen--if it did happen, it wouldn't be a system based on democratic pluralism.

JD
One more thing. Anne of PA claims Obama is going to send the army after her to arrest her and send her to a re-education camp (wouldn't do any good--can't fix stupid). So seems a few right-wing nut keypunchers seem to think along these lines too. I doubt the FBI would be interested in posting to TH, but very interested in threats made on TH.

Why worry about illegals
When labor laws like minimum wage, unemployment insurance and union protectionism created unemployment in the first place? Any attempt to hold up absolute wages, without concern for real purchasing power, will do nothing more than crowd people out of the market.

300,000 is peanuts when attempts to protect the absolute value of wages and digging into companies to pay for those not working, money they'd use to hire those not working, put 30 million out of work?

Akagi re your 11:33 post...
Another thing to consider is the average American including (or especially the average bureaucrat clerk) has a lot more to lose than the targets of Shining Path and other terrorist groups. It is why I imagine many 3rd world thugs are willing to sign up fopr terrorism. They just don't have much to lose other than their miserable lives, even without the promise of 70 virgins. Also, while 24 hour news is avaiable almost anywhere in the world, nobody is as addicted to it as Americans. That is why a single act, whether as large as 9-11 or as small as the DC sniper can paralyze the general population. You just wouldn't see that in many places in the world.

E-Verify killed by Democrats
Does this make any sense at all, when our own politicians sell out American Workers? How can Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, inform his voters that he supports E-Verify, when in the Stimulus package and then the Omnibus bill, he completely cut funding to E-Verify supported by tabling the motion 50 to 47? Radical suspects were already their genuflecting on Capitol hill.

A composite of builders associations, large abhorrent corporate money people and the usual suspects made up of the US Chamber of commerce, ACLU and poisonous entities such as La Raza, Mecha and other open border lunatics. These groups would swamp America with millions more of illegal aliens, as long as they had access to impoverished labor. No matter that US taxpayers is forced by our government to pay for their welfare.. Joined at the hip House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Menendez (D-NJ), Feinstein (D-CA), Boxer (D-CA) and 46 democrats who have shown their deceit to the jobless American people.

There shouldn't be any question about installing E-Verify as a-- PERMANENT-- law, when it will identify illegal aliens and stop them from taking--YOUR--job? Without work--THEY WILL LEAVE. Not just your children out school for summer jobs, but anywhere on the workplace ladder. Not just illegal border crossers, but those with skilled qualifications who didn't go home after visiting this nation. Just remember these incumbents who sold you out, when they are looking for your vote?

Nothing will be accomplished if you remain silent. Keep up the firestorm of voices at Washington Switchboard 202-224-3121 for senator or Representative demanding E-Verify for ten years--if not --PERPETUITY?. President Obama switchboard (202) 456-1414 Comments (202) 456-1111

America
Must be given to the illegals and America haters (like Akagi) for it to become part of the globalist take over.

Akagi should be kicked out of the country and would have been in an earlier day America that did not allow subversives in

Akagi . . . Pistol . . .
Thank you for your comments. You are correct about government resources (almost unlimited) that could be used to (attempt) to quell such a situation.
The concept of "leaderless resistance" using "cells", in which the total membership of such an organization is unknown to each other would be the best way to make such an organization operational.
These are not "my plans", merely an look at various situations that have happened throughout history.
As for the federal government, they can pretty much watch, harass and kill (with impunity) anyone they wish. Look at Ruby Ridge and Waco for examples.
The amount of data that the government would have to mine and process to catch a "real" terrorist is mind-boggling. Most of the time these "terrorists" are caught by "luck".

Pistol, you are correct in stating that a FEW individuals properly motivated could achieve such an result. One only has to look at Afghanistan to see that just a few SpecFor and SEAL teams took down the government there.

The final question-- would GOOD PEOPLE stand up and do the right thing when the "sh!t h!ts the fan"? There comes a time when the abuses get so great and the normal requests for a "redress of grievances" is ignored. Voting becomes a lottery or cr@pshoot because of questionable tactics by the major political players (and their minions) in the "two parties".
Akagi, what would YOU do?

"Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it."

TS
In what earlier day would I have been kicked out? Was the First Amendment a recent development? I thought it became effective when the Constitution was ratified in 1789. Perhaps you can enlighten me on this point.

Alien and Sedition Acts in 1798 is that a time you are talking about?, but they wouldn't have allowed me to be kicked out of the US.

NEWSFLASH! Everyone pay close attention
Akagi prefers NON-AMERICAN BEER!

What a surprise!

TJ
If the US got so bad as I would think of using violence against it, I would leave the US and go to a certian address on Xinyi Road and talk to a nice consular officer where I'd tell him or her my intention to renounce my US citizenship and once that was done hand him my passport.

And then leave the building and I don't know go to Taipei 101 after that or maybe go to the Shilin nightmarket or something and then take the new high speed train back south. I suppose I could do this in Kaohsiung too and I wouldn't have to make the trip way up to Taipei. There is an AIT office there too.

It should be obvious--
I believe that it should be obvious to all conservative Americans that the "Puppet Masters" who control many politicians and acheive their agendas through these sell-out politicians are now and have been in complete charge of our system. Why, because this total lack of common sense in not having full support of E-verify is mind numbing unless one realizes who is in charge. Don't forget the bail outs too.
And yes, I am proud to say that I voted for Hunter and Tancredo, As I knew that Barry O. was going to follow Peso George on pandering to the illegals.
So who are these puppet masters? Follow the big money from inside and outside the US.

Akagi
As a subversive anti-American you would never have been allowed in to the United States.

No matter what beer you drink.
You are a subversive voice in TH ever since I first seen your screen name.
You are as anti-American as they come

Gordon
I do. You know how American beers are like people having sex in a canoe? Two f'ing close to water.

And you sure your American beer is still American?

Don't go there on beer...
Gordon,

Anheuser and Miller and perhaps Coors are now foreign owned. If Coors isn't foreign owned, a major stake is held by Molson of Canada and they are in an alliance with Miller-SAB. American mega-swill and mega-swill light are but 2 styles of beer out of thousands made around the world. Thankfully the homebrew and craft-brewed industry is alive and well and producing some notable domestic beers. Still, you can't fault somebody for preferring a foreign beer anymore than preferring steak over seafood. This is particularly true if it is some obscure style that isn't easily found in the ol' USofA like some of those bizzaro Belgian beers. And I wonder how many otherwise patriotic Americans are drinking Coronas. It seems to be one of the most popular beers around, even though it ain't much different from the rest of the American mega-swills.

Akagi...
you are right about one thing. If God meant for man to drink filtered beer, he wouldn't have given us livers!

TS
"As a subversive anti-American you would never have been allowed in to the United States."

Yes, but the wonders of jus soli and the 14th Amendment, eh?

As for beer--

Taiwan Beer first choice (but impossible to get in the backwaters I live in), so next Tiger Beer (from Singapore and very Taiwan Beer-like), then San Miguel (from the Philippines) and again Taiwan Beer-like. Then Either Sapporo or Ashai (both from Japan) or maybe Kirin (Japanese as well) and finally Tsing Tao (Qing Dao)--a PRC beer.

If American, a Florida beer called Hurricane Reef and a local one called Sweetwater. As for other bigger brands--Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada and some Canadian ones--Molsen, Labatt and some Mexican ones-- Dos Equis and Corona. A few European ones as well--Heineken mostly--it taste very much like Tsing Dao.

So there. Now you have all the beer info on me if you ever want to buy me a case.

Feedfwd
Corona is based on an American sytle pilsener, but sometimes I'll drink one--not close to being a top choice. Taiwan Beer (that's a brand) has a unique taste due to the Penglai Rice added to it. Taiwan Beer was actually a Japanese import--it started being made in Taiwan under the Japanese in the 1920s. It was then called Takasago Beer which was Japan's name for Taiwan in the 17th Century (means high sand country). But when Taiwan was "returned" to China in 1945, the Monopoly Bureau changed the name.

E-Verify
Killing E-Verify has got to be made into an albatross around the Democrat's neck. They can't blame it on Bush. As unemployment continues to rise, the unskilled will be first to go, and without these votes the D's are doomed.
But its frustrating to see Dumbo's party vote against vouchers everywhere and still get the votes of those most hurt. Just how unaware ARE these people? Will the oncoming social security and medicare collapse make a difference? Massive inflation which hurts those without property the most..what will it take? In Cuba those who reject the Communist Utopia have to risk their lives to escape. At least we have Canada. Not to go to, but through.

Akagi
You misunderstand.

I don't even like beer.

Akagi
I do like your analogy though.

A time for reason. Part I
It is neither prudent nor productive to speak of armed rebellion. There are established peaceful means for changing the staff who operates our federal government. The problem mostly arises out of our collective apathy and our national preoccupation with basketball, babes and beer. Actually I mention only basketball for its beginning letter. I could have easily used baseball for example. In my view they are pretty much all the same in the drain they place on our common resources.

Living examples exist in my own family and circle of friends - people who spend more time, money, interest and practical attention to resource draining activities than they do to the maintenance of our free political system.

Politics has evolved into a profession. One that can now be studied in college. One in which many degrees can be earned from law enforcement to political science. The result is that we have people such as Ted Kennedy who spend their entire adult lives in the profession of government. We have, as a nation, surrendered our representative government over to professional and dedicated volunteer governmentalists.

Governmentalists have firmly grasped the concept of withdrawing money from the public treasury for their own use and with those funds have purchased an ever expanding base of power. This theft of power from the states and from the people has occurred through the process of re-election to positions within the government. It is a simple process. One gets elected to congress or some other publicly elected office then uses that office to barter for votes in the next election. The so-called pork barrel bank provides the currency and the grants of favors to supporters and special interests pay for what ever number of votes will be required for the incumbent to be returned to power for another term ad infinitum et ad nauseam.

Pistol...
Today's poor all have TVs and music systems of one kind or another. They also have pretty limited preferences. It doesn't help to have talk radio and hundreds of cable stations if one only listens to hip-hop and Tejano stations and watches only the same old sitcoms and Oprah. Today's poor are poor because they are ignorant and I'm afraid they don't even realize it.

Aha Akagi, you have revealed yourself
to be an unsophisticated no-palate lout. To discuss beer without mentioning German or British offerings is indeed to prefer making love in a canoe. At least you swing by Heinekens, but that is to most German beer what Cutty Sark is to real whisky. Those who live in the land of beer and scotch prefer more robust brands.

A time for reason. Part II
To many who have become aware of this problem, “term limits” has become somewhat of a slogan or watchword. However, when term limitations are discussed it is almost always in the context of limiting the number of terms a person may serve in one office. The most notable term limit now in existence is the one already being discussed as out of fashion since Obama’s election and that is the constitutional limitation on the office of president of the United States to two consecutive terms. Therefore, term limit proponents usually suggest three terms for congressional representatives and two terms for senators. And I always ask, “What for?”

Two terms in the U.S. Senate add up to twelve years, almost a career. Even more importantly, it is in the re-election process the damage occurs. Witness for yourself the last election. How much truth were you told? How many of the things said during the campaign could you then or can you now rely on? If you are a Republican, was your favorite candidate nominated by your party? If you are a Democrat, have developments since the election proved to be the expectations you had for the next administration?

At the risk of shocking some of you, I am forced to advise that politicians seldom tell you the truth. They sometimes lie. They sometimes make promises they have no intention of keeping. They almost always say what they think will get them elected, nothing else. John McCain told us he would protect the economy, but interrupted his campaign long enough to return to Washington and help pass a stupid, giveaway of our money to the control of one guy who had no idea as to what he was doing. Barrack Obama promised he would defend our right keep and bear arms, but very early in his administration urged the re-implementation of the so-called Clinton Gun Ban, the only effect of which is the encroachment on our right to keep and bear arms. Little things like that.

BARACK HUSSEIN ALLENDE

Barack Hussein Obama rode on the back of the antiwar movement into presidential history. No toppling of Saddam Hussein, no President B. Hussein Obama. The man with the middle name “Hussein” opposed the forceful ousting of Saddam by U.S. forces believing that he could have been stopped, tamed and contained-a completely wrongheaded view as the man's terrorist activities were uncontainable and dangerously growing. But I wonder, is it mere happenstance that Obama shares the same name as the ill starred dictator, the name "Hussein?" Is his own middle name a warning to Obama about the fate he could suffer if he goes too far in his transformational project to Europeanize, collectivize and restructure capitalist America?

When comparing both men I noticed that Obama shares one very troubling trait with Saddam: recklessness. Indeed, like Saddam no catastrophe is too big or disaster too great to bring Obama to his senses and stop him.

Click my name and read the rest of The Man With Hussein for his Middle Name, or Barack Hussein Allende

A time for reason. Part III
So, if politicians cannot, for the most part, be trusted to tell us the truth, what are they doing when they want to get re-elected? That’s it. They are getting re-elected. Nothing more. They use the power of their incumbency to purchase their return to office. For those who may not understand how this is done, I suggest you wake up and begin paying closer attention to the news.
And during subsequent terms in office they continue to expand their power base, expand the size of government, increase the tax burden and ultimately send as much money to their home districts as possible in order to repay their supporters and to insure their next re-election.

I would like for you to carefully read that last paragraph again. Did you see any reference to any political party? Did I discuss political positions or beliefs? This is truly and maybe the only actual bi-partisan effort we will ever see. They all want to get re-elected. You might wonder why. But if you do, then you haven’t yet noticed how much richer most folks seem to be after having served a term or two in government. The Obama campaign raised a reported 700 million US dollars to spend on the effort of getting him elected. The job only pays $400,000 per year. A return of thirty-two hundred thousand or 3.2 million dollars over the eight years allotted on an investment of nearly 700 million. Yet they all come out richer than they were when they went in.

Getting elected is a very important matter. And I have not even yet mentioned the retirement benefits which are the greatest the world has ever know for as little of two years of service. It is not surprising that so many, want so fervently to serve for so long in what is supposed to be a public service job. But why are so many successful at standing for election, campaigning for the position and then getting elected again and again and . . .?

Mr. Buchanan
There is a whole lot of ducking and dodging, shuckin' and jivin' going on by this dim ruling class. They tell us they can save our country by bankrupting it with major handouts to unions, illegals and ACORN but hide it by saying it will be paid by taxing the rich.

First of all your rich boss may not like paying for this nonsense and stop paying you. But that's OK because there's plenty of illegals to take your place. Do I have to tell you libs who to vote for in 2010? If I do you don't have the sense to vote.

Akagi
Why wait. You are free to go. You say that it is discrimination to not hire illegal aliens (that are breaking our laws) for government jobs. What are you talking about? If these laws don't matter, then we have anarchy. Why should any of us follow any laws, if the government gets to pick and choose which laws matter and which don't. You liberals are so twisted. And you wonder why people think you are nuts.

TH ate my post.

Tsing Tao is basically a German Beer brougt to China bt the Germans in the 1900s. Not so big into Brit Beer, but like Bass. I like Becks and St. Pauli Girl, but not my first choice, but who knows if they started using Penglai Rice...

300,000 construction jobs?
Bunk! Illegal aliens will take almost all 2 million of the jobs.

Whatever the hell Soros happens to be pouring that day in the boiler room.
Whether it be Dom or cat pi$$.

Yeah and before you get started Akagi, everybody stay tuned for his long winded cultural history on drinking cat pi$$. What country it started in. The difference between German cat pi$$ and American cat pi$$. Which one goes best with Sushi and on and on......

You're a clever guy Akagi. But a troll is a troll.

Reading isn't your strong suit is it?

I said this:

"In most cases that would illegal. There are some cases where the(re) is a BFOQ to hire only US citizens--the Secret Service for example, but in most cases it is illegal to discriminate in hiring between a legal pernament resident and a US citizen."

See the term there LEGAL. This was in response to the idiotic post by Michael in which he said this:

"Citizens should come first, then legal immigrants."

I am no liberal--of course to most TH'ers a liberal is anyone who doesn't agree with the narrow echo chamber world that has become American "conservatism."

Why wait? The real estate market's not so hot right now.

Eugene
Soros isn't a beer man I don't think.

Beer is cat pee? Okay. Whatever.

Funny you mention 1842, the first full year the Brits controlled Hong Kong.

Sushi? Depends what type. Usually Wasabi diluted in soy sauce. You know sushi isn't per se raw fish right?

I can tell you are in a foul mood. Me too. UNLV got beat by SDSU which means off to the NIT. Oh well.

I am no troll. If I were I'd say something like America is the anus of the world and it needs a good wiping and then I'd vanish to relish in the carnage I have caused. My posts aren't intended to cause outrage--per se.

A time for reason. Part IV
The politicians win time and again because the voters who should be watching over them don’t pay attention. Or if they do, it’s usually too late. Almost two years ago now, I sent out one of my many politically oriented e-mails. One of my co-respondents wrote back to say that I should send no political e-mail to them for a year or so since the election was so far away. We were by that time already deep into the primary election cycle. But that was too far away for them to worry about politics. And for many the summer of 2008 was too far away from November 4th. They did not want to be bothered with politics so early in the game. Many were just getting over the “March Madness” and baseball’s all-star game had not yet been played. How could they be bothered.

By the time many voters got around to thinking about the election, the winner had pretty much already been determined both by fact and happenstance. And now we all, liberal and conservative, Democrat and Republican, Socialist and Libertarian all face the loss of our country, our way of life, the predominate religion, our common language and our freedoms. For those of you out there who are homosexual and are so ecstatic over Obama’s election, wait until you get a glimpse of Sharia law!

And it will be because we didn’t care enough. It will be because we were too lazy or too interested in sports or in spending our evenings in a beer can or watching the latest dumb-down on television. It may be because we didn’t want to be bothered. After all, the election was so far away. But don’t let me overlook the activists on the blogs, especially the commenters, those folks like many of you who post their ideas, responses, insults and name calling on the internet forums.

A rime for reason. Part V
And there creeps in day by day the hints, the suggestions, the urges - even the declarations that we should beat people up, that we should terrorize public officials and/or their staff into surrendering their public offices. The suggestions lean toward violence of many kinds which could inevitably lead to armed rebellion.

It's getting late. This is taking longer than I thought. If you are still interested, check my blog for the rest of the article.

http://theadjuster.blogtownhall.com/

Akagi
Isn't the point of the article that we would be giving government jobs (contracts from the government) to illegal aliens? Or, did I misread the article.

From your posts, you indicate that it just isn't an important issue. Following our laws are just not important to the majority of americans-then we should just ignore it?

Your not liberal? Right.....Just like Obama isn't a liberal. Why is it that liberals always call other people's ideas "narrow"? Liberalism is working real well in California. California is imploding thanks to liberals and their "broad" ideas.

You quoted Obama at 63% approval rating. Maybe you should read this from the Wall Street Journal.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123690358175013837.html

Actually Akagi..
I'm in a pretty good mood. Had SDSU on the money line. I'm up now but it's early. Check with me in 3 weeks. That's when the big dog barks.

And reading apparently isn't your strong suit either. I never wrote that beer was cat pi$$. Nor did I mention anything about what Soros drinks.

But hey, it's just a little good natured ribbing from one 'conservative' to another. Right?

What else happened in 1842?

wagner
The point of a article often has little to do with the threads the article may generate and my post was directed at discrimination against legal immigrants.

Also I pointed out that few seem to carry out their outrage over immigration into votes. McCain who sponsored McCain-Kennedy won the nomination and the two most hard-line anti-illegal candidates were among the first to drop out of the race.

As for his poll numbers, we shall see. Gallop has him at 63% which is higher than Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43 and Nixon--if I recall he was tied with Clinton and only Carter at 71% had higher numbers. Even if he was at 56%, he would still have a higher approval rating than did Reagan.

Obama is a liberal. I am not.

Eugene
Didn't think you could bet on the Rebels or is that only in Clark County?

I didn't think UNLV would win. It was close at the Thomas and Mac earlier in the year. Saw them play an awful game against Air Force and Greg Anthony was doing color for the game and he said UNLV didn't match well against the Aztecs and they'd have problems. I didn't think they'd lose by 13 though--71-58 right? It was 9 with 5 to go and I knew it was over. So no way NCAA for them this year as an at large. NIT bound this year.

Eugene--1842
I don't know. I always just relate 1841-1842 to Hong Kong and the First Opium War and the Treaty of Nanking.

approval ratings
The country thought Carter was going to be a great president and look what happened. I guess we can't get too excited about approval ratings and what people initially think.

Wagner
Polls. Yep. Bush was at 91% in March 1991, by November 1992 he was defeated with 37% of the vote. Bush 43 won in 2000 and 2004 but left office with some of the lowest ratings in history. Truman who was popular in 1945 left office with only 22% support---lowest ever. Nixon won in 1972 in one of the biggest landslides ever, in 1974 he was forced from office with poll numbers in Truman territory. Carter at 71% in early 1977, left office in the upper 30s and won only 41% of the vote.

So yes you are right. Polls are snapshots. Now he is very popular, we shall see how long that lasts.

Jus soli

Subversive:
Intended or serving to subvert, especially intended to overthrow or undermine an established government

Two different subjects, airhead

the Dems and the GOP agree
Both, for good reasons, want huge numbers of legal or illegal aliens doing work in the U.S. The Dems are smart enough to know that these people (and their children) will vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic party. Why not vote for a party that will actually give you hand outs and affirmative action based preferential treatment? It makes total sense, the the GOP will never get more than about 35% of those voters. The people who run the GOP care way more about money than anything else. They do not care about the U.S. per se -- they believe in globalism -- and they also like (a whole lot) the idea of having multiple servants at low wages. Many of them also despise working class Americans and unions to a ridiculous bigoted level (what possible threat do unions have at this point? this is 2009, not 1979, unions are done).

another GOP lie
Has been the recent attacks on the buy American act. That act was passed under FDR -- it is literally almost 75 years old. It did not create a crisis during any American era over the past 70 years. It did not create the great depression. We had many good economic eras with the buy America act (1950s, 1960s, 1980s, 1990s, etc). There is no "emergency" warrenting getting rid of it. Except for one thing -- many of the people who produce structural steel, prestressed concrete and guiderail (the things subject to Buy America) do actually make a lot more than minimum wage. So, if these products came from India or China just think of how much profit certain people would make (tons). Who cares about the U.S. -- because it is not about the U.S. -- most of the neocon controllled GOP is too stupid to understand that we have had such laws most of our history.

Agaki
Don't bother to post if you do not understand policy issues like the Buy American Act (which was passed into law in 1933). America has done well most of the last 75 years -- we have only had about 10 or 15 bad economic years out of the last 60 years. It might be possible to argue that it is a "bad new idea" if it were a "new idea" or a new policy. You cannot argue that creating NASA will create a disaster, or the Department of Education for that matter, even if you could argue for policy points that would repeal these agencies.

Ignorance is indeed a huge part of the problem. And it is not confined to the un-intelligent. A dismal and discouraging number of people are just not interested in politics. Its not just the poor who get their political news from Oprah and People. And then there is the real silent majority, the 50 percent of the population that doesn't even bother to register. A real bummer of some tough years could, but not necessarily, make a difference. I have no clue as to how or what would get the truth to the uneducated and illiterate who approximate 25 per cent of the voters. People like my wife, with a Master's degree, who still voted Dumbo, may be possible to reach. Maybe.

now is NOT the time...
... to tolerate further incursions by ILLEGALS.

It is stunning that we are also being invaded by drug cartels, and only ruefully is the govt. even considering sending troops to the border. Further, the ObaMessiah and the left have stopped construction of the fence. Talk about welcoming plagues to your home!

As unemployment rises, it is the perfect time to really begin to enforce our employment laws so we can gradually achieve attritive repatriation of those here ILLEGALLY, whether border crashers or visa violators. Most ILLEGALS are the wrong kind of potential new citizen anyway... our economy today needs educated, skilled, non-indigent, LEGAL immigrants.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Gotta' agree here... the RINOS and Chamber of C. cheap labor ilk are IDIOTS to speak of appealing to the purported "conservative social values" of ILLEGALS as prospective voters.

What is "conservative" about rampant rates of illegitimacies and dropouts, and arrant propensities toward crimes and gangs?! Also, recent ILLEGALS are especially prone to cling to espanol and are being aided and abetted by the PC ilk.

The left knows that it can hand them ballots in espanol with numbers and get those big entitlement govt. votes... and they need not await citizenship to vote either.

Heritage calculates that giving a path to citizenship for 12-15 million would mean 100 million new, generally poor and largely ignorant citizens within 20 years... and we would morph ineluctably into a permanent welfare state.

the staggering cost of "cheap" labor

There are SO MANY fatuous and disingenuous myths about the supposed benefits of tolerating ILLEGAL alien laborers. A key verity is that they are ABSOLUTELY NOT cheap labor all-in... miscreant employers simply pocket the "savings," but YOUR hotel room, or yard service, or Tyson chicken is no cheaper to YOU. The all-in costs of ILLEGAL aliens to taxpayers and society is HORRENDOUS, ENERVATING, and counter-productive.

The apologia for them smacks of the same arguments which had been used to defend slavery, and the legacy will be just as terrible. The 'Crats are already effectively reprising "40 acres and a mule-- then you can vote like your friends do." The ObaMessiah, et al, cannot wait to get them voting, and are NOT waiting for them to earn citizenship to vote.

If we legitimize them with licenses, etc., we will doom America to morphing inexorably into a permanent welfare state. They will vote 95% for the left... the other 5% will mis-vote because they cannot read what they are handed in Spanish. The demographics are easy to project --> per the highly respected Heritage Foundation:

Many have wondered why pols at all levels of govt. could so blatantly ignore the law and common sense to accommodate ILLEGALS (see sanctuary cities, support for scamnesty, etc.). The answers are: MONEY and power!
I will follow with a post about what I have dubbed the "Conspiracy Of Evil."

Here in Georgia, our 2 senators had been influenced by $ from miscreant employers of ILLEGAL aliens such as chicken pluckers and meat processors. Our senators had seemed to be riding the fence on the issue. They and others had listened to the artful and beguiling myths about ILLEGAL aliens, "simply doing jobs Americans would not do."

But myriad Georgians got engaged and made CLEAR that we did not like being the fastest-growing ILLEGAL alien state. We got our 2 U.S. Senators to vote against Kennedy-McCain scamnesty and the Dream Act (which would have rewarded college-age ILLEGALS with subsidized tuition and a path to citizenship). We also got our state legislature to crack down on ILLEGALS pervading Ga. and plaguing her with social pathologies-- just like N.C., Ok, Az., Ms., Mo., and other states have had to do.

The best group to help YOU save YOUR country and YOUR state is NumbersUSA. Several honest U.S. Senators said that this group was most responsible for derailing Kennedy-McCain. BOOKMARK THEIR ADDRESS HERE:

http://www.numbersusa.com

They have all sorts of reference sources and prepared subject-specific, targeted e-mails for you to send to members of Congress.

You can also e-mail or call your reps in Congress right here at their official sites... tell them that you support the SAVE Act and oppose ANY attempts at scamnesty.

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/issues.html

Get engaged, folks! America would be a TERRIBLE thing to lose! YOU can help save YOUR country!

The Conspiracy of Evil

The biggest challenge to stopping ILLEGAL aliens is that the money and organization (hence power) is mainly on the pro-ILLEGAL side. The pro-ILLEGAL forces include an unlikely, strange bedfellow alliance between groups which want to USE them in different ways--> the Conspiracy Of Evil.

Miscreant employers obviously simply want to exploit their labor-- never mind the myriad, egregious socio-economic problems they foist on America... hence, their all-in costs to society are immense and snowballing. Furthermore, the "savings" to miscreant employers are pocketed by them --> your hotel room or head of lettuce is NO cheaper to YOU.

The PC left wants to get ILLEGALS voting and seize permanent control for leftist "elites" via yet more inexorable big entitlement government... power flows to big guvment 'Crats/the left when YOUR tax $ flows to Washington. Try to find a liberal who does not really favor scamnesty, while feigning talk about enforcement first.

The scandal-plagued Catholic Church needs replacement bodies for the pews; and ILLEGALS can put more in the collection plates in America than in Mexico... the Church still has mega-millions to pay out for priest perversion (after deciding to forgive each priest one act of perversion-- Jesus!):

http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jul/15/local/me-priests15

Ethnocentric Hispanic groups really do want an effective Reconquista, so they hide behind claims of racism and pleas for PC multiculturalism and one world, NWO kumbaya.

Finally, the remote elites, including the liberal MSM, do not see what all the fuss is about. Besides, they LIKE their cheap ILLEGAL maids and yard-workers, and THEIR children will not have to go to schools enervated by "those people."

Historical precepts...
...different and competing interests came together to support Adolf Hitler during the Nazis' rise to power in the 1930's. He cunningly played them off against one another, the Army, businessmen, and disgruntled countrymen.

The unlikely marriage of Big Agri and other business interests (the same people that offshored our jobs to serve their masters on Wall Street without nary a blink), + leftists/Democrats looking for perpetual dominance via the voting booth = weakness for our country.

The rest of us can be damned, get 're-trained' to create websites. Let's face it, legalizing illegals solidifies the very power-base now running our country and legalizing dope assuages whatever guilt is left amongst those in that camp that still have a working conscience, a small percentage surely.

Nope...
...the GOP sold us out. Now what passes for Republican leadership is piping up about being pro-abortion. Didn't Mc-disdain teach them anything about abandoning their base, failing to stand for ANYTHING???

Conservative Americans can and will find a voice. It is already happening as our foolish used-car salesman POTUS is finding out as he picks a fight with the man with the mic. Sure, little Rham and morally bankrupt fixer Carville might be celebrating some short-term 'victory', but what they are really doing is OVER-REACHING. What's more, they and their ilk are energizing the opposition. Here in liberal New York I speak to plenty of other folks who see the charade for what it is, are battle hardening their attitudes, and will be heard from.

Oracle1
We have been fighting this for some time now. But with the disaster of Obama and a psuedo-supermajority in the Senate (with the aid of three turncoat Republicans) I am disheartened about our efforts. However, I applaud your posts on this subject and add an amen to your exhortation to sign on with NumbersUSA.

There are other groups such as Grassfire.org, but sadly they seem to have adopted a profit-driven system for their communication devices. $20 for a prepared facsimile is a bit much considering the number of times they must be sent.

Keep up the good work.

It is Time
How much more are the American People going to take from the idiots in Washington. It is time to take back our Gov't from these worthless idiots. They are destroying everything our Country was built on, our Heritage, Honor, Pride and Values. They are treating us like second rate people in our own Country. They treat our Veterans like a piece of trash, weather your 85 or 18. They go after Law Enforcement Men and Women and destroy them when they were only doing their jobs. Sheriff Joe is the most Honorable American this country has, he is enforcing the Constitution Laws of which our Politicans are not, as far as I'm concerned about 98 % should be tried for Treason for failure to obey what they swore to by being elected to office.
I would hope that if we take back our gov't that Law Enforcement and Our Military think about who they would rather back, WE The People or the Idiot Politcians that cheat and lie to them. People have had enough of our Politican's in Washington today. This crap has been building for the last 20 years and it is time to stand up and make our Voices heard or Take back our Country and put men and women who will enforce our Laws and Protect Our Borders and put American's back to work into the jobs that are being given to illegals and foreign workers who are given H1 B Visas. It is also time to drill in our own country and tell the rest of the World to kiss oue buns. I am sick and tired of the Enviormentalist and the ACLU, it is them who have destroyed so much in America. We need to stop taking care of the rest of the World, for they don't like us. We have helped millions overseas and they could care less. It is time to take care of us now. I say it is time to March and take back our Country, what say you America ?

reply to: Gordon
Thanks for the kind words of support.

I agree that signs in Washington are disheartening. I also think that the ObaMessiah was elected mainly as a negative reaction to the tanking economy and weariness with Dubya guvment. Some serious conservatives like me early on smelled a neoCON/Zionist) rat about Iraq, e.g.

My point is that the left is exulting as if it were a mandate for them to give us big government, embrace ILLEGALS, spend ourselves into oblivion, etc. But I think the public mood will rapidly sour on their wealth redistribution agenda, because some polls show that Middle America does NOT want big government, bailouts and higher taxes, and is suspicious about the demagogic "soak the rich" schtick-- they simply want order restored to the financial markets.

Oracle1
Yes, and it is more than that. The Democrats, either out of ignorance or intent, mis-interpreted the election results of 2006. They still failed to recognize or admit that they won be virtue of the fact that conservatives were for the most part trying to punish the GOP for its failure to live up to conservative principles.

They are doing the same thing now in their interpretation of what the 2008 election results mean. They claim it as a mandate to turn to socialism. But, to our misfortune, the truth is that we were still so angry at the GOP we couldn't support thier "manchurian candidate" for president.

akagi and others . . .
It is apparent that you fear "the man" and would GLADLY give up your freedom of speech than possibly raise interest (and notice) from "the man". This fatalist attitude is common in many countries where the spirit of FREEDOM and SELF-RELIANCE is greatly attenuated or nonexistent. This is not meant to slur or disparage ANYONE but to point out that the AMERICAN SPIRIT has been discouraged by those from the left (and pseudo right) for a long time now.
One only has to look at the differences between New Orleans, Louisiana and Gulfport Missippi during ANY of the hurricane seasons.
The "residents" of New Orleans were given ample warning of impending dangerous weather conditions AND DID NOTHING. They later excoriated the Bush administration for "not providing help. They had successfully been bred into helplessness and dependency.
Contrast this with the people of Gulfport Missippi who HEEDED THE WARNINGS, took cover, picked up the pieces and repaired the hurricane damage WITH LITTLE OR NO "GOVERNMENT" HELP.
This, Akagi (and others) is the difference between the "audacity of helplessness" that barack hussein obama wants and the "spirit of America" which (I hope) most of us possesses. Have a nice day.

The Big Sellout is yet to come
Obama and his slave masters will sell out even bigger the next election when the give all the illegals citizenship to get their votes. Obama is out to turn America into a slave nation where freedom and choice have been eliminated. Only the STATE will matter or have power. I predict Obama will run for a third and fourth term and the people of America will rue the day they voted this tyranny into existence.

tj
You have that right. And you probably already know that Orientalists do not or choose not to understand the idea of "spirit" as we in the U.S. do. To fully understand it, one must remember that we first landed at Plymouth Rock, ran as fast as we could to the Pacific coast and have been pissed off ever since because the land didn't go far enough to suit our appetite.

TS
"It came from you that you are an immigrant."

Find the post where I've ever mentioned I was--never have. Never really ever posted which country(ies)I have citizenship in or how I obtained them. But if say I was born in the US, how could I have been prevented from entering the US? Unlike Taiwan in the bad old days, the US doesn't maintain black lists for its citizens.

FeargalX:

Governments deciding to source from a single country is no less stupid than if individuals do it. So if the US government buys Dodge Rams from Mexico is that better than buying Toyotas made in Kentucky?

Does it do any good to buy more expensive steel made in the US over cheaper and equal if not better quality Japanese steel?

The answer is no of course.

Tell us what percentage of US GDP was directly related to international trade and tell us what it is now. Just because a stupid law has been on the books for 70 years doesn't make it not stupid--then or now.

American Vet
US ODA is some of the lowest of all OECD countries--tied near the bottom with Greece at 0.16% and far from what it promised in 1970 when it approved UN Resolution 2626 to promise to reach 0.70% by 1975--the US and most of the OECD donors have never come close to that goal.

The aid US does give is mostly aimed at policies the US wants to see pursued--it gives to a few countries and many of these aren't poor--Israel and Turkey for example. It also gives large sums to Afghanistan and Iraq and Peru and Bolivia for anti-drug efforts. For the truly poor the US (and the rest of the world) hardly give anything--look at the amount of ODA to Mali for example.

The US did rebuild Japan and Europe after WWII, but that was in its interest to do so wasn't it? The US would not have been well served to see the JCP controlling the Japanese Diet and having the PM as a member of the JCP. Nor would it have done so if Italy or Greece or France, etc had become part of the Soviet Bloc.

Today, US troops abroad are there to pursue US interests and not to serve as protectors of the host country. No where is this more true than US troops in Japan.

Gordon
"Orientalists do not or choose not to understand the idea of "spirit" as we in the U.S."

Care to expand on this? What spirit? Capitalism? Singapore and Hong Kong are both freer than the US economically--both are "Oriental" are they not?

Akagi (Cont'd)
But until that comes to pass, I will continue to buy American, as far as I am able, and to encourage others to do the same regardless of price. I know the quality will return, if we can rebuild our industries. We did it before and we can do it again exactly because of the American spirit of which we speak. Too bad you don't choose to join us. You would be a highly valuable ally.

( I wish I knew how TH counts characters. Their 2,000 seems much smaller than my word processor's 2K. )

Akagi
Well, I don't know what has happened but I can't get my first part of the reply uploaded.

Gordon
"But until that comes to pass, I will continue to buy American, as far as I am able, and to encourage others to do the same regardless of price."

That is just plain stupid. With competition you improve quality and price--if you buy a product simply because what colors the flag is on the box you don't give them any incentives to change. American companies that produce poor quality or overpriced products should not be rewarded with your dollars--they should reform or go extinct. Paying extra is pure madness. Economics is a science of scarcity as I said. Those dollars you spent needlessly you have been spent on another product--perhaps on a product from a well-run American one, or saved or invested. You do yourself or the country no favors by supporting companies that should go extinct (Chrysler for example). Millions and millions of Yuan are sucked out of the Chinese economy propping up SOEs that can't be closed and are too bloated to be sold to private concerns. Supporting inefficient American companies with private funds is little different and both stupid.

As for word counts, I think TH counts spaces in the 2000 count.

Join you to waste my scarce money on firms that don't earn them? No thanks. Is a Dodge Ram built in Mexico an American one? Is a Toyota built in Kentucky a Japanese one?

Dear President Obama:
I am very disappointed that you have decided to oppose ICE's work site enforcement raids. These law enforcement actions are immensely important and free up jobs for American workers.

You promised to create jobs for Americans. ICE raids are not as expensive as a $750 billion stimulus package, but they do preserve jobs for American workers. I find it very alarming that you would rather stand up for illegal alien workers who have no right to work in this country than to stand up for America's unemployed and underemployed.

Your “moral high ground” tone as in your spokesman's “The president believes we must respect due process and our best values as we enforce the law” is really just disgusting when I look at family members and friends who are out of work and struggling to keep afloat.

It is revealing that your Administration would rather pander to special interest groups than help downtrodden American citizens. You opposed a provision of the stimulus package that would have required fund recipients to use E-Verify and now, through a White House spokesman, you have opposed ICE's work site enforcement raids. Your actions help only illegal-alien workers and special interest groups, not America's unemployed.

Whose president are you? Do you represent the people who elected you or do you represent illegal-alien workers and the unscrupulous, un-American business owners who hire them?

Most Sincerely,

(Signed)

P.S. Please let us see the Mr. Obama who campaigned and convinced the voters he knew what he was doing and would get the USA back on its feet and make sure there were jobs for her citizens.

Buy American, and similar policies, have existed for hundreds of years. You point out (correctly) that we also have such laws pertaining to our auto fleets (which is why when you see municipal/state/fed fleet cars they are almost always "American" label cars). Of course, we do this with our naval ships -- we pay way more for our naval ships to be built in America than they would if they were built where most private ships are built (places like South Korea). I am not anti-freetrade, but we should have reasonable limits. Buy American ensures that the U.S. has the capacity to build roads, bridges, dams and other infastructure items. Also, you ignore the fact that driving down labor costs in not necessarily "good" for a society. If we had total free trade and no restrictions, we would not employ legal or illegal Mexican workers -- instead we would bring over people from China or India and have them be housed and fed by the company employing them. Millions would gladly work for 50 cents per hour. What would the cost be? A permanent poor class disconnected with much of the rest of America. This is what countries like Columbia and South Africa are like -- and I would have no desire to live in either country (despite the fact that I might be able to afford a maid in those places).

Akagi
It is truly interesting that you call me stupid before even reading my post, much less, seriously considering its implication. But then I suppose that is the oriental way. Not mine, thankfully.

I am still strying to get the original first part of the post up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but TH just won't accept the first part which has already been reduced in size a couple of times to fit their character limit.

very good points, FeargalX

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Big parts of Europe deeply regret importing Islamics to do its meaner tasks... in a generation, the more prolific Islamics will be in control, and they are not wont to share control.

Importing "cheap" culturally/ethnically disparate labor almost always backfires badly; how's that American slavery thing working out for everybody?

the cost of buying American
It is nice to buy American up to a point-- as long as the American product is produced competitively and with quality. Here is a recent point/counterpoint about that here:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Do you really want to see America with no auto industry and give that business to Japan?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Bankruptcy would likely cure the main ills of the big 3 auto companies... Toyota and Honda are making good money by paying workers a lot less right here in America, yet people line up for their jobs.

You cannot pay a UAW worker with a H.S. degree $150k all-in a year and not pay the piper at some point. Many airlines have gone under due to unions causing pilots to get 3-4x what they were worth simply because of union blackmail... they kill the golden goose even when providing essential services and products. Unions are only growing in influence among guvment workers-- where end users have no choice but to pay their inflated costs via taxes, but the quality slides as the costs rise with that union mentality-- see teachers and postal workers, e.g.

As someone saliently noted below, GM and Toyota sold the same # of cars worldwide last year-- but one makes good $ even as the other hemorrhages.

B/R can set aside the crippling union largess and pare management fat as well.

Many companies have emerged from B/R and gone on to do well with a different business model.

We do not have "free trade" . . .
but "managed trade" A true "free trade" system would entail a "tit-for-tat" response to restrictions placed on our exports.
A good example is our cars. In order for a foreign auto manufacturer to sell cars in this country, they have to submit a few of each model to a laboratory for safety and emission testing. Upon successful completion, they are given a blanket authorization and can bring in as many cars as they want.
Contrast that with Japan (and many other countries) that require EACH individual car to be "inspected" at their port of entry. This efectively keeps out almost most imports. This happens on a large scale with many other products in Japan and many other countries.
In addition, "value added taxes" are used to artificially lower the cost of exports. The exporting countries routinely waive the "value added tax" for those products being exported.
Americans are being taken advantage of by these lopsided so-called "free trade agreements".

Gordon
I say buying a product based on where it is made is from an economic point of view stupid. I never called you stupid, just the policies you wish to pursue stupid. Smart people--as George W. Bush proved--can pursue rather stupid policies.

who said Dubya was smart?
re:
"Smart people--as George W. Bush proved--can pursue rather stupid policies."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I think that the guy was a son of privilege-- his SAT's would not have gotten him into Yale otherwise. (Same with John Cohen-Kerry) Then again, the ObaMessiah has refused to reveal any of his test scores, which might reveal that AA was involved in his progression-- Harvard, etc., are notoriously PC.

Those artful neoCONS (Wolfy, Perle, Feith, Abrams, Libby, Wurmser, and Fleisher) manipulated Dubya like he was Silly Putty to get us into a war of choice against the wrong Islamics to take out Saddam and get permanent bases there for Israel... Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. A brighter guy would have been less gullible and more curious.

demand E-verify!

http://www.numbersusa.com/content/enforcement/workplace-ver ification.html

Even as Mexican drug cartels are spreading their virulent violence over here, and ILLEGAL alien labor continues pirating jobs that Americans will DEFINITELY do, and milking American social services, the ObaMessiah and the left have stopped construction of the fence. Why?! Because those are future big entitlement guvment 'Çrat voters crashing the border!

While America needs SOME educated, skilled LEGAL immigrant labor, the so-called cheap labor (the largely ignorant poor ILLEGAL aliens) are REALLY egregiously expensive all-in to America. Your hotel room and Tyson chicken is no cheaper to YOU, BUT YOU get stuck with the tab for the myriad social services they will prey upon and the pandemic social pathologies (crimes, barrio blight, drugs, gangs, illegitimacies, dropouts, cultural disparateness) they pervade like a cancer.

Get angry, folks!!! Insist that Congress require E-verify and pass the SAVE Act. You can EASILY reach them at their official sites right here:
