Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

In his campaign and inaugural address, Barack Obama cast himself as a moderate man seeking common ground with conservatives.

Yet, his budget calls for the radical restructuring of the U.S. economy, a sweeping redistribution of power and wealth to government and Democratic constituencies. It is a declaration of war on the Right.

The real Obama has stood up, and lived up to his ranking as the most left-wing member of the United States Senate.

Barack has no mandate for this. He was even behind McCain when the decisive event that gave him the presidency occurred -- the September collapse of Lehman Brothers and the market crash.

Republicans are under no obligation to render bipartisan support to this statist coup d'etat. For what is going down is a leftist power grab that is anathema to their principles and philosophy.

Where the U.S. government usually consumes 21 percent of gross domestic product, this Obama budget spends 28 percent in 2009 and runs a deficit of $1.75 trillion, or 12.7 percent of GDP. That is four times the largest deficit of George W. Bush and twice as large a share of the economy as any deficit run since World War II.

Add that 28 percent of GDP spent by the U.S. government to the 12 percent spent by states, counties and cities, and government will consume 40 percent of the economy in 2009.

We are not "headed down the road to socialism." We are there.

Since the budget was released, word has come that the U.S. economy did not shrink by 3.8 percent in the fourth quarter, but 6.2 percent. All the assumptions in Obama's budget about growth in 2009 and 2010 need to be revised downward, and the deficits revised upward.

Look for the deficit for 2009 to cross $2 trillion.

Who abroad is going to lend us the trillions to finance our deficits without demanding higher interest rates on the U.S. bonds they are being asked to hold? And if we must revert to the printing press to create the money, what happens to the dollar?

As Americans save only a pittance and have lost -- in the value of homes, stocks, bonds and other assets -- $15 trillion to $20 trillion since 2007, how can the people provide the feds with the needed money?

In his speech to Congress, Obama promised new investments in energy, education and health care. Every kid is going to get a college degree. We're going to find a cure for cancer.

Who is going to pay for all this?

The top 2 percent, the filthy rich who got all those Bush tax breaks, say Democrats. But the top 5 percent of income earners already pay 60 percent of U.S. income taxes, while the bottom 40 percent pays nothing.

Those paying a federal tax rate of 35 percent will see it rise to near 40 percent and will lose a fifth of the value of their deductions for taxes, mortgage interest and charitable contributions.

Yet, two-thirds of small businesses are taxed at the same rate as individuals. Consider what this means to the owner of a restaurant and bar in Los Angeles open from noon to midnight, where a husband and wife each put in 80 hours a week.

At year's end, the couple finds they have actually made a profit of $500,000 that they can take home in salary.

What is the Obama-Schwarzenegger tax take on that salary?

Their U.S. tax rate will have hit 39.6 percent.

Their California income tax will have hit 9.55 percent.

Medicare payroll taxes on the proprietor as both employer and salaried employee will be $14,500. Social Security payroll taxes for the proprietor as both employer and employee will be $13,243.

In short, U.S. and state income and payroll taxes will consume half of all the pair earned for some 8,000 hours of work.

From that ravaged salary they must pay a state sales tax of 8.25 percent, gas taxes for the 50-mile commute, and tens of thousands in property taxes on both their restaurant and home. And, after being pilloried by politicians for having feasted in the Bush era, they are now told the tax deduction they get for contributing to the church is to be cut 20 percent, while millions of Obama voters, who paid no U.S. income tax at all, will be getting a tax cut -- i.e., a fat little check -- in April.

Any wonder native-born Californians are fleeing the Golden Land?

Markets are not infallible. But the stock market has long been a "lead indicator" of where the economy will be six months from now. What are the markets, the collective decisions of millions of investors, saying?

Having fallen every month since Obama's election, with January and February the worst two months in history, they are telling us the stimulus package will not work, that Tim Geithner is clueless about how to save the banks, that the Obama budget portends disaster for the republic.

The president says he is gearing up for a fight on his budget.

Good. Let's give him one.

Well said.

Opinion polls are just that, opinion.
Markets are people putting their money where their mouths are. I believe the markets.

HOW OBAMA IS DESTROYING THE MIDDLE CLASS
The President's tax and spend policies will put an end to America's middle class.

http://greensrealworld.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-obama-is-de stroying-middle-class.html

Looking On
Obama has always been an onlooker, never having worked for a "for profit" organization and never having signed the front of a pay check. He is a "theory man", having observed
people who were pretty good at their job, and who made it look easy, as the really good ones
usually do. Why, shucks, Sully landed on the hudson? I could do that! My press agent has been right all along!

An excellent snow job
has been pedaled to the American public. In the past few days alone, several seemingly intelliegnt people have told me how they believe Obama is "on top of" this economic disaster. One is even a small business owner, who employs about a dozen full time workers, whose business is on the verge of failure. And they honestly believe the government somehow has almost total control over the economy.

How can the people be so foolish? It's not like there isn't a wealth of information available on history and economics at every American's fingertips.

Demagogues require a gullible, ignorant public to obtain power. And Obama has been handed one on a silver platter.

There's no fight
There will be no fight in Washington D.C. or in California, where the Legislatures are completely dominated by near-lefty democrats...who never see a tax they won't pass or apparently pay! There is almost no possible scenario wherein California will turn back the liberal nutty agenda and return to its conservative roots. No scenario!

Taxes will go up, business will go broke or leave for greener pastures, and the unemployed will grow.

We now see why the property-less were not allowed to vote back in the day. This is why: they have no stake in the economy or community and tend to vote for goodies they haven't earned and don't deserve. How can we see it any clearer? My friends, a near majority of our neighbors don't pay one cent in federal income tax! Can you even fathom that?

Wait a minute
You didn't say anything about pitchforks. Would tar and feathers Do?

Polls and even one man one
vote are meaningless. The vote of some street corner bum counts as much toward election as Bill Gates. But the effect of Gates judgement and resultant actions have a hugely disproportionate effect on the economy. Left wing posters drive by and praise our "great new" president in sincere opinion. But you can't make 2 plus 2 equal 5 by following a majority vote. The sensible and energetic people whose decisions control the investment and business climate are not in the majority. Obviously, they are not quite so charmed with Obama. But keep on keeping on, Dumbo. The majority is behind you. Maybe you'll be the one who makes 2 plus 2 equal 5.

GREAT COLUMN!
.

Wochenend und Sonnenschein
Pat - You need some good stimulus music to cheer you up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlGcm9eaaVc&feature=related
LOL!

"Wochenend und Sonnenschein" (Happy days are here again)

No matter what he says, we can't lose sight of the fact that his only intention is to change this country into a socialist regime. He uses class warfare to pit "rich" (the "bourgeois") vs. "poor," (the "proletariat"), tells the "poor" that all of their problems are because of the greedy "rich," and that he'll make the rich pay by using government power to redistribute their wealth to the poor in the form of government handouts. It's standard socialism ... and has been happening since the 1848 revolutions in Europe.

Hearing him talk only reminds me of Hitler. Let's not forget that "Nazi" is the German acronym for National Socialism. Hitler gave wonderful speeches during a terrible financial crisis in Germany after WWI, blamed the people's problems on the bourgeois (including the Jews), and was actually elected as Chancellor. People forget he was elected ... and was billed as the new Messiah who would solve all of Germany's problems. It was only later, when the crisis supposedly worsened, that he then - with massive popular support - named himself Leader ("Fuhrer"). Sound familiar?

The only poll that matters
... is the stock market. And we can all see where that is going. There is NO confidence in this hustler from Chicago. But why should there be? He is utterly inexperienced, and completely incompetent. He has never run anything - not a company, not a division of a company - nothing. But now he is somehow qualified to take control of the largest economy in the world?

This is a charade. We will never survive four years of it.

Well now...
Pat, let's back off a bit here. Four of Obama's cabinet candidates, three politicians and a money man, did not pay some of their their taxes. All of them top bracket. What does that tell you? That many top income folks dont pay some or most of their taxes.

The rich, who pay most of the taxes, will simply move abroad for the duration of this frenzied guvmint thievery, along with their money. What the rest of us do, those who are far short of "the sum" and can't go anywhere, aye, that is the question.

A mass refusal to pay taxes is the answer. Where is Obama going to find among his supporters enough brown shirts who can read and write to hire as IRS agents? An underground railroad for those hounded by the guvmint thugs will spring up. Massive resistance is clearly around the corner.

And if the IRS collects no loot, will China finance Obama's Grand Utopia by buying Four Trillion dollars worth of US treasurys in '09 alone?

The demoncrats and their captain would soon be the laughing stock of the world, printing monopoly money to finance pipe dreams. "Would" be if they weren't so dangerous, as they have at their disposal the greatest army on earth and all those WMD's. They will enslave us if they have the chance, and that chance is coming up full speed.

Where are the anti-Buchanans?
This is about the point where posters start making comments that Mr. Buchanan is an anti-semite, isolationist, protectionist, nativist, loony racist.

So labeled are those who would have their government honor their country and its citizens first.

FIGHT
In regards to the last line - count me in.

the myths of taxes
re:
"But the top 5 percent of income earners already pay 60 percent of U.S. income taxes, while the bottom 40 percent pays nothing."

A persistent myth brayed by the left is that "the Bush tax cuts benefited the rich at the expense of the Middle Class." The government's own data give lie to this artful, fatuous myth:

http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=6

ACTUALLY the portion of taxes ACTUALLY paid (AGI) by the top 5% has RISEN steadily from 53% to just over 60% over the 5 years from 2001 to 2006. And Pat is right-- the bottom 40% of taxpayers essentially pay no taxes-- except the stealth taxes S.S. and Medicare, which are forced extractions mostly squandered by the government for purposes other than those stated. THERE IS NO S.S.
TRUST FUND.

The Chosen One wants to further soak the very people who create jobs and hence drive economic growth. This is one of many Obaminations of his agenda.

And indeed, he had no mandate-- he is just braying that he did.

EXCELLENT POINTS, qhoratius!

Agree about those who blaspheme Pat B. with calumny as you detail. This forum is populated by neoCONS who would have conservatives equate the agenda of Zionism with what is good for America. But Israel is a foreign nation, yet we spend far more for it than if it were a state. Besides what I detail below, the 3 leading recipients of foreign aid are in order: Israel, Egypt, and Jordan-- ALL because of Israel... and NONE is a poor/needy nation.

Just this week, we committed to about $1 billion to rebuild the Gaza that Israel brazenly destroyed. But that is chump change compared to the $3 TRILLION we will spend in
Iraq, a war engendered so the neoOCNS can get permanent bases there to protect Israel's mere 5 million people. That is %600,000 per Israeli of AMERICAN taxpayer cost. Hmmm.

The Utter Stupidity of Liberals
Wake up, you bamboozled Obama worshippers. Your country is going down the drain because of your stupid votes. When are we going to besiege Washington, D.C.? Now is a great time at the beginning of March with all this Global Warming nice weather! Yeah, right!

I'm surrounded by my fellow Americans, most of them utter fools who voted for a pig in a poke and that's what they got--a lot of pork and bankruptcy.

Beam me up, Scotty, these people are digging their own graves and don't realize it because they're too stupid!

United Front
Can we all agree to put off the who was most responsible for the current situation talk and instead focus on how to fix the problem. What good is all of this talk without a coeshive plan to fix the situation? Everyone is talking about what they want, but no one is saying it. The solution is anti-corruption laws (an amendment would be better). And the tactic is a united (both liberal and conservative together) front. We can get back to the debate on what ideology is better and who is more wrong awful later. But until the problem the real problem is fixed the debate is counter-productive. And love the spirit of the Boston Teapot protest, but protest without intent is nothing. You need to have a plan. You need to have a tactic. You need to have an endgame. If you are interested in fixing the problem please email.

Our new Unitary Executive...
Excellent column by Pat Buchanan.

As a libertarian, I would only add that George W. Bush, with his "Unitary Executive" claptrap, paved the way to giving his successor unimagined powers. We'll see how far Obama goes with the new, hyped up executive powers, especially during this time of the phony "War on Terror."

Observe that Obama is--conveniently for him--ignoring his tepid promises to bring the troops home. All he is doing is sending them from Iraq to Afghanistan (and likely Pakistan and Iran).

But the US is broke. The only way we can pay for insane socialist policies and insane foreign wars is to inflate the currency--that is, by stealing from everyone by devaluing the dollar.

Mass suicides in the Hamptons
If the argument is Obama will destroy the productive forces in our Beloved Republic by his plans to allow Bush tax cuts to expire, with tax rates on the wealthy returning to the Clinton levels of 39.4%, from 35%, I don't buy it.

I don't recall mass suicides among the wealthy brought on by Clinton's draconian tax policies.

The Hamptons did not devolve into public housing projects.

The Gilded set were not deprived.

Yachts were still purchased, along with fine wines.

I don't recall small businesses in our Beloved Republic becoming extinct due to those horrible Clinton tax rates.

Perhaps I missed it.

I mean, faux righties always obsess over how media was in the tank for Clinton and the Dems.

Maybe media hushed up this extinction of small business in the Clinton era.

Cough.

I like Pat. I totally agree with him on the destructive policies of neocons.

And I'm contemptuous of the moronic blatherings of those who accuse Pat of being anti semitic.

Agree partly with Pat on immigration.

We should radically alter and restrict the mix, emphasizing immigrants with scientific backgrounds and excluding immigrants with no education or marketable skills.

But for good or ill, Obama won the election.

He has a mandate.

He ought to be able to implement his vision, with input from Congress.

If it does not work, he and his party can be held accountable down the road.

That is how our system works.

I agree with Obama on the need to spend money here on our own, not overseas.

Fauxbama
Oust Øbama, I want to see the Birth certificate.
10% flat tax on all income. . .

on deaf ears...
Most of the time I can't figure out where Mr. Buchanan is coming from. But I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
Good article Pat. It speaks to a lot of people.
Unfortunately it won't fall on the ears that need to hear it. The Republic is waiting for the loyal opposition to come up with something. Lacking that...and the silence is deafening...now where is my pitchfork?!!

For Once
I agree with Buchanan and I am already in the fight.

Tea Party on Tax Day, April 15th coming to your town.

Be there or shut up when you realize the porkulus has done ZERO.

Ha has no mandate jeribaub.
He simply won, had it not been for the republican support for the first TARP bill, WE would have won.
He is completly ignoring the evidence before him on how to fix this problem.
Cut taxes and cut spending..the waste fraud and abuse in gov't is staggering, if every dept was told to cut their budgets by 10%, they could do it easily. Instead, we get this socialist garbage, this class warfare from Mr. bi-partisin.

This guy WANTS this economy to fail, he NEEDS a crises to fully ram his commie agenda down our throats.

Does anyone think we would have seen anything like this had McCain, a patriot, a taxcutter like Reagan, a man who never put an earmark in a bill in his life been elected?

As someone said earlier, this is what you get when people with no stake in the countries viability get to vote, we were warned about this 200 years ago.
We committed national suicide last Nov. and this fool will get a lot of us killed before this nightmare is over.

To Pat, your best column ever IMHO.

Psychologically disabled.
Terrorists can never destroy the U.S., they can only cause a few deaths and disruptions. The real threat is the 50 million Americans who are dependent on Government assistance. Most are Aged or physically and psychologically disabled. It is costing over one trillion dollars annually to provide for them. Uncle Sam was happy to pick up the tab. But times have changed and business is bad. Unless the economy quickly improves there will be suffering and panic all over the land.

Jason
My idea is to throw all my support to the Libertarian party. It's time to introduce a new party to the arena. Democrats will bankrupt us by giving hard earned profits to the parasite class. Republicans will say that they stand on conservative principles, and then once they are in office, they will bankrupt us by giving hard earned profits to the parasite class.

I'm not saying the Libertarian Party is perfect...they do have some short comings. But some new blood would be great in Washington. Especially new blood that stands for limited government above all else. Check them out: http://www.lp.org.

disagree here
"Obama won the election. He has a mandate. He ought to be able to implement his vision, with input from Congress."

The ObaMessiah got 53% of the vote and CLAIMS a mandate, but he was darn vague about his agenda... turnout was DOWN from 2004 despite all of the new voters (some actually alive and legal) the left signed up... many dispirited conservatives simply stayed home. Amnesty John was the neoCON candidate who assured the left's victory by default. The worst legacy of the near-clueless Presidente Jorge might prove to be having foisted the Obamanator upon us as a reaction to Dubya's fecklessness.

The more people learn about Obama's statist goals, the less they like them... and he has only been in office a few short weeks! Pat's column details well the STUNNING debt levels/government growth now projected...

Gotta' agree with Pat--> we rightly should vigorously resist the agenda of a Pied Piper with a hard-left agenda that has failed EVERYWHERE it has been tried.

Tax cheats and Parasites
None of these people are worth one hour of our labor. Our government is worse then the Wall Street bankers.

These people do nothing but screw things up and to make the whole thing even stranger they don’t even pay taxes on their scams.

Even the Mafia pays some kind of taxes on their phony front operations.

It’s getting stranger and stranger.

Our government is making the Mafia look like bingo night at St. Ann’s.

Elections have consequences!
And if you like what BHO is doing then you will really love what you will get if conservatives and republicans and yes, even democrats don't come together and agree on a conservative replacement for the diseased members of Congress and POTUS. This country will be removed from world power circles in 10 years or less if we the people do not return our government to being controlled by the Constitution and drastically reduce the size and scope of Federal power. I would favor a Constitutional amendment that limits the Federal government to 5% of GDP. If a major war were to happen the various states should pony up in proportion to their means and once the war is over the states would still control their finances.

It is far past time to end that giant sucking sound. What sound? Why the giant Federal teat sucking sounds made by all the states, businesses and people. The Federal government is meant to be a defender of all people not just those that get to the trough first.

AGREED WITH EVERYTHING!
Now--as to HOW to oust him before he does any more damage--and how to reduce the damage he's already done: WRITE SCOTUS! DEMAND that they do their job of interpreting the Constitution as it is written.
Once they HEAR one of the many cases before them on the "natural-born citizen" issue--once they depose witnesses, examine evidence, and question defendants--they will be FORCED to conclude that he is NOT ELIGIBLE to be POTUS!
(They have to publically vote-and write their "opinions" for prescedents and history)
Once he is forced to step down, his whole thieving cabinet and all the bills he's signed into law (including HR1 and the home thing) will be null and void!
For a format, address, and names: Go to: http://www.obamacrimes.com and look in the upper left corner of the home page.(Write Supreme Court)
BO held a closed door meeting with 8 of the SCOTUS right after his Coronation--obviously to demand that they NOT hear any of these cases. (there were 3 of these lawsuits before the SCOTUS at the time of the meeting! VERY illegal)
SCOTUS are OUR employees! PLEASE Respectfully INSIST that they hear one or more of these cases!
ONCE HE'S OUT--we have good lessons learned, a cleaner slate, and can fix our problems without Government interference!
SEE how we fixed the Recession in the '80's!!
THAT method works!
Good Luck!

oracle
Could be.

But Bush claimed a mandate with 51% of the vote in 2004. So Obama sure as hell can with 53%.

It was no secret Obama campaigned on not extending the Bush tax cuts, and on more government assistance to alleviate economic and financial downturn affecting citizens of our Beloved Republic.

Obama may lurch our nation further to the Left than it wants to go.

If that occurs, he, and his party, will be repudiated by the electorate.

We agree about neocons, and that McCain would likely wallow in the neocon sludge(his foreign policy advisor was the neocon Randy Scheunemann).

Bush wallowed in it, and we got Iraq and alot of needless confrontation with Russia and other parts of the world.

In this time of outright fear among the American people, we are in uncharted waters, and I think Americans will be inclined to support their president, not those who are figuratively throwing stones at him, especially as our ship of state, our Beloved Republic, is listing badly.

I am a traditional conservative who does not like excessive governmental intrusion.

And I agree with you on Bush's legacy.

But Americans are spooked now, and in my modest opinion Obama will be given some latitude by them in his effort to rescue our ship of state.

GOP will have to do more than throw stones.

They will have to come up with solutions.

And I don't think simply calling for tax cuts will do it.

Not in this environment.

jerabaub
I never could understand this line of thinking:

"But for good or ill, Obama won the election

He has a mandate.

He ought to be able to implement his vision, with input from Congress "

If I thought his candidacy a fraud and his ideas harmful and worth resisting, how does that change, come Nov. 5th?

Chuck
Fine.

But a majority of voters apparently did not share your views.

So if and others think his policies are harmful, convince the American people.

Hint: Calling him a communist ain't gonna cut it.

Look,
Obama is doing this all intentionally, or, he's retarded. There's no other explanation. But, he's doing exactly what I expected a radical anti-American muslim to do if given our White House. He's destroying our country. He's worse than Hitler. And dumber.

Obama's trying to be Hitler
Any disagreements?

Why do you need to lie
to make your points. Two important facts you got wrong.
1)The Bush budget for 2009 was $1.25 Trillion.
however the previous budget had a 'short fall'.
(ie didnt account for evrything)
2)Obama and Congress raised spending to meet the 'short fall' by 25%
**THAT IS ONE QUARTER**
not 4X as you suggested in your article

BubbaGump in NY
Both Obama and the media push anti-American propaganda, just as the Germans, under Hitler, did.
1) Hitler required mandatory "government education"("Hitler's youth"). Obama is pushing for the same thing("Obama's youth").
2) The German government, under Hitler, required mandatory "government healthcare". The American government, under Obama, is forcing the same thing.
3) Hitler was a cold dictator. Obama is a cold dictator.
4) Under Hitler, the German people had no control of their government. Under Obama, the American people have no control of their government.
5) Hitler hated the United States Constitution. Obama hates the United States Constitution.
6) Hitler was a socialist. Obama is a socialist.
7) Hitler was elected by racists. Obama was elected by racists.
8) Hitler started a world war. Obama is taking us in the same path.

Anyone want to add anything else?

WE WILL ALL BE EQUAL !
With the Obama/Pelosi Plan we will all become equal in our taxes, income, healthcare, homes we own, utilities we use, education and the cars we drive. There will be no divisions of wealth. Wealth will be distributed equally among all citizens and we will look alike, walk alike, think alike, and dress alike.

Don't you feel better knowing that soon you might be living in the twilight zone?

Victims Support their Executioner
Joey, I was going to post until I read yours and realized I couldn't say it any better. The parallels are absolutely frightening and Jewish Americans are Obama's strongest supporters!

I used to think Jewish Americans were the smartest people around but after the Madoff billion-dollar scam, many victims, Jewish, and Florida's vote for a guy who sat in a pew while Rev. Wright blasted Israel, I'm revising my opinion.

Jewish Americans are just like all the American Democrats and liberals who vote on the basis of emotion rather than intelligence or rationality.

A Usurper in the Oval Office
Pitch forks? How about the cops? Or the military? Wake up, America,,,,,,there is an enemy within range!!!

Not a mandate ..
As a very wise man stated last weekend, elected officials are temporary stewards of the political machinery of the nation. They do not, THEY DO NOT, have a mandate to remake the nation and our political system into a form more to their liking.

This is a constitutional republic, not a parliamentary dictatorship. The only political allegiance that counts is allegiance to the Constitution. Mr. Limbaugh is on very firm ground.

Mr. Obama's objectives are un-American and unconstitutional.

v/r,

-- Bud

jerabaub
"but calling him a communist ain't gonna cut it"

Perhaps not, but I wouldn't exclude it from my inventory of what will. The first priority in destroying a virus that has infected the body is being able to correctly identify it.

The issue that conservatism has with Obama and his cronies is more than simply a matter of degree and if, as you say, you are a traditional conservative, I am surprised that you either don't recognize that or choose to dismiss its importance.

Seawolf...
While McCain would have been no Obama, I do believe many of the things he would have done would have been similar or worse than even Obama. Furthermore, while we hear that everything is still Bush's fault, soon the realization will occur that in fact it is Obama and Pelosi and Reid et al, who are doing the current damage. If McCain had won, we'd here nothing from the sycophantic media except how McCain is worse than even Bush and both of them are responsible for all of our problems. It would have set the republican party back even further and done nothing to shake up the country club moderates running the party. But, as Justin laments, it doesn't matter what was done, but what is being done and what can be done. McCain was for ending waterboarding and closing Guantanamo. McCain shelved his campaign to rush back to Washington to work towards getting bailouts to "save" the economy. McCain was the force behind McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy. There are a lot of reasons for conservative freedom lovers to believe McCain would have been no better than Obama.

Forget about the presidential elections. Either work for congressional elections to get good, independent-minded, conservatives in office in 2010, or go back to being a couch potato watching Oprah or American Idol.

one winner
It is probably a relief for Buchanan getting to demogogue against Democrats again after 8 years of having to go against Republicans.

It is funny to see him use the fact that the economy under Bush was even worse than previously thought as an argument against Obama.

Conservative writers are one of the real winners of the Obama election, although not as much as talk radio hosts. They get to do their thing wherer there heart is.

Earners will leave California
But where will they go?
Obamaism has hit hard everywhere.
Where do citizens of the USA go?
Buchanan is correct; let the fight begin.
It is time to take the country back.

Government control
Just think when Obama and his crew get rid of the middle class we will all be equal. Picture out country filled with low income housing. It works so well in places like New York and Chicago. Shootings every night, drug dealing in plain view and of course don't forget the murders. Yes this is what we want for our country. We will be forced to send our young people off for 3 months to be trained in the Obama thinking. We will no longer decide what is good for us, the government will. I for one will not strive to make more money to give to the government. I will not find an incentive to save as I will be taken care of if I am broke just the way the government likes it. I guess this will be the new American dream Welfare, Food Stamps and Public Housing.

BEGINNING TO WAKE UP PAT?

.....OBAMBI and his puppet master SOROS do not want the economy to recover ...they want it to crash so that they can nationalize industry and turn America into a Socialist State ...what we have seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg ...isn't that obvious to everyone by now? .....COLOSSUS

Slow down on the crystal meth. you are paranoid.

And to everyone talking about insurrections and civil war and overthrowing the government...grow up.
We are all Americans, the US democracy elected this government. This is what democracy looks like. Don't become traitors of America just because you lost the reigns of power. If you have a problem with the government be American, educate people on your position and encourage voting, actively campaign, and donate to cadidates . Oh yea and stop being such babies.

We will NOT all be equal
To Reba who posts “We will all be equal.”

Reba I like your post, but I fear we will NOT all be equal.
The liberal elite will still have more money than God. Look who they are: Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, the Hollywood crowd, Obama and Michelle, the Clintons, John Kerry, etc. They and theirs will always afford private health care, private schools, private jets, private vacations, etc. But, we the little people will have none of these things because we will only be able to afford what the government hands out to us.

When this new so called equality hits, do you think Obama and Michelle will put their children in DC public schools? I bet not. Do you think they are the real “cowards” Holder was talking about. You bet they are. They are part of the liberal elite who fear the so called “underclass” (in inner cities, the majority who are inner city African Americans). My daughter attends a DC public high school (which is 90% African American and 10% “Other”) because in our family we are NOT cowards. Obama and his crowd are the real cowards and will never see themselves as our equals. They have worked hard not be our equals and will never give up their superior status. Typical liberal hypocrisy.

I vote no confidence
So this is the "change" that we were promised?
There is something wrong when you have to spend to get out of debt.

Failure Is an (Obama) Option
Sadly, the liberals are the last ones to realize the oxygen in the mine is slowly seeping out when one of their own is in power. I'm almost willing to bet that almost anyone of the TH conservative posters could pull the U.S. out of this recession faster than Obama.

You know why? Because he wants the country to fail so that he can install his Marxist programs. It seems that even some of the MSM editorialists and writers are beginning to catch on.

Every time Obama gives a speech Wall Street stocks plunge. Why, because of a lack of confidence. Traders vote on the future and what they see ahead doesn't bode well for America and that's why they're selling.

If you don't realize that Wall Street is the heart of capitalism you are dumber than dirt. If I were president I would stand up in front of the traders in NYC and say, "I support you because I know that when Wall Street is successful the country, and the world, is successful. We're going to keep an eye on you but we, and my administration, absolutely support you. Let's trade...let's get America running on eight cylinders again!"

The Marxists led by the Great Pretender want the U.S. to fail. Anybody who doesn't see this must be blind, deaf, and very, very dumb!

FIGHT? JUST GIVE HIM EVERYTHING
Why fight Obama?

Just give him everything in return for allowing us to keep enough money to eat.

He can own our homes.

He can own our cars.

He can own our bank accounts.

Let him pay the taxes on them.

Let's see how that works out.

Rowdy Boots

It is NOT overthrowing the government
"And to everyone talking about insurrections and civil war and overthrowing the government...grow up."

And you should have picked up on that. The divisions are getting bigger: I really do see a civil war-ideology, race, class, location. Be pleased with your insults but it is coming. The black gangs and black supremacist, Chicano separatist and their gangs--pro/anti current federal policy-and on it goes.

We have been seeing mini models for it for years. Let this credit dependent society crash and you will fight too. You will not want to, but you will.

Your post is rather foolish considering that the USA was founded on just such a thing. Really, isn't it rather foolish to say such a thing when being AMERICAN means having having the values set forth in the Declaration of Independence. Also this is not a democracy it is a Republic, and those elected are swear an oath to uphold the Constitution from whence there powers have been delegated. It is "AMERICAN" to fight tyranny and usurpation. I suggest to you, that you grow up as you offer simple platitudes that only work with virtuous people. It seems from your remarks that you are a callous individual who is indifferent to the crimes being committed by those in power. Is it that you advocate these crimes yourself, or that you really are lacking in both the ability to read the Constitution, and do not understand such basics as unalienable rights?

Health Care
I agree with Obama on Health Care. As a RN in Phoenix, I see that we cannot continue down the current path. What people don't seem to get is that people without insurance do get health care, of course it's the most costly healthcare there is. It's called THE Emergency ROOM. Even if we just had government funded medical walk ins, we would save billions. No one is denied heathcare in America, legal or illegal. So, lets work the problem, before we all go broke.
Medical walkin for the sniffles 50$. ER for the sniffles 3000$

BubbaGump
We are not a democracy. We are a constitutional republic. We are set up as a federation. The government has checks, balances, and enumerated powers.

Violence of faction = tyranny of the majority

http://www.constitution.org/fed/federa10.htm

All of these things are out the window as socialists are in control of every branch of government and nearly all of mass media. Socialism is inimical to limited government and individual liberty. In this country, and indeed in any free society, slavery is an absurdity. I wouldn't give a damn what anybody believed (fascism, communism, etc) so long as the policies they enact are Constitutional. Obama has stated on more than one occasion his contempt for constructionist judges and strict interpretation of the Constitution. Obama hates this country's founding principles.

And don't feed me a line of crap about Bush's contempt for the Constitution. I'm aware. And it is no excuse for Obama's contempt.

PS: To the socialists and the Natl Socialists, while they often fought each other early on in Germany, to each was reserved an intense hatred for the classic liberal (now known as libertarians). The birth of National Socialism is rooted in Marxism. Both share contempt for capitalism (ie, individual liberty), both demand centralized control of the economy, neither can survive long where a free press exists, both view humans as resources rather than individuals, both get their mass of support from the lower economic strata of society through class warfare rhetoric,...

Other than a few letters and that some socialists believe that liberty is possible in a socialist society, there isn't a damned bit of difference between socialism and fascism. In fact, to paraphrase W.H. Chamberlin, fascism is what we get after the illusion of socialism has failed; the leaders and followers of each are one and the same.

Howabout we quit subsidizing the healthcare industry altogether? That way, people have more choices and will be able to afford to pay out-of-pocket.

I want to see doctors and hospitals hawking their services like furniture salesmen.

You want socialized and mandated healthcare? Move to Cuba. I'll even start a charity to send you there.

Reba
I'm going to assume your comments about being equal are sarcasm. I could be wrong, but you ARE laying it on pretty thick. My point is that whether or not you believe it literally, millions of people do. When, of course, this fails to occur, many will believe it was due to active enemies of equality who stealthily contributed to Dumbo's failure. It is possible that some few open-minded savvy folks will realize the ancient truth, tinstaafl.

Oh, and Bubba?
If someone in law enforcement or the military decided to uphold their oath to defend the Constitution, by force or otherwise, I'd grab my weapon and the most ammo my bent legs could handle. I'd rather die on my feet, than live on my knees.

Socialism is slavery. Be an abolitionist.

Hitler was a lefty --NOT a rightie....

The Nazis (National, Socialists... need we say more) were all about state owned industry and the government taking care of the Volk from cradle to grave. Hitler (and Stalin too) were liberals --very blood thirsty liberals. True, they were racists and warmongers but in terms of domestic policies these men were FAR to the political left.

wspq or polytopia. Left and right are important distinctions, but both can be more authoritarian or libertarian in nature. We need more freedom, not more government control, from both conservatives and liberals.

"Earners will leave California
But where will they go?"

Good question. Here are my requirements:

1. High tech and financial services industries
2. All three major professional sports
3. Museums, museums, museums
4. Access to university scholars
5. No snow - but access to snow within 4 hours
6. Close to an ocean

I would like to leave California, but the above six are requirements. Does anyone have any ideas?

What To Do?
I believe that, effective immediately, conservatives should begin calling for the resignation, en masse, of the Obama administration, and the so-called Democratic Party leadership in Congress.Period.

PISTOL & RENEE
Yes, I was being sarcastic by pointing out how all of us could now become equal in every aspect of our lives per the Obama/Pelosi plan.

My last sentence was about living in the Twilight Zone. "The Twilight Zone" was a great TV program in the 1960's created by Rod Serling. It was a Science Fiction anthology TV series which had unusual situations, often with a twist. I remember one program which portrayed everyone being changed to look exactly alike and what an emotional affect it had on them. I was recalling that program when I wrote the post.

Perhaps I have lived longer than a lot of you who have posted here and you don't know about "The Twilight Zone". It also had a classic musical theme, using an iconic atonal guitar theme.
"The Twilight Zone" is on DVD now, worth watching. 1960's Science Fiction has become reality in 2009.

qhoratius...
Good luck with that. I trust you have the wealth or the skills necessary to maintain your lifestyle if and when California comes crumbling down in bankruptcy and civil disorder. I'm sure the gays will keep the Hispanic gangbangers in line.

In Houston, you are 4 hours from snow by air. I'm sure its illegals would make you feel at home, as well. Plus you get the added bonus of oil & gas and chemicals industries. Of course, you lose the Hollywood circus. The drive to Louisiana for gambling is similar to the drive to Vegas. The Louisiana casinos may not be as exotic as Vegas, but you get horse and dog racing, as well.

the REAL cause of the crisis
re:
"I'm Main Street. And I"m mad as hell at Wall Street - and so should everybody else be."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The REAL cause of our financial mess was that the govt. had required that sub-prime mortgages be made... AND the guvment deregulated those who play with other peoples' $ (investors).

The LEFT mainly deserves blame for the former, so now the hard LEFT will try to redefine us with statism/big entitlement guvment, which has already ruined Japan, New Zealand and Europe.

Obama is doing exactly what he believes - those beliefs were never properly vetted or allowed to come to light during the campaign and we are getting what we deserve as a country for electing this leftist, marxist, pandering politician. Your rational comments on health care costs, and the necessity to deal with this problem, are as appropriate on this site of in-denial zealots, as is a barber who specializes in the shaving of men's beards would be among the Taliban.

Am I equating some zealots on this board with the Taliban?

Not necessarily.

But on second thought....

Anyway, your 10:57 was a nice moment of lucidity in a thread dominated by idiocy.

LEADER WE DESERVE
It is said that the USA always elects the leader we deserve at the time of the election so obviously we have been very bad, because the leader that was elected is doing his very best to kill our country completely. every few days there is a new rape of our treasury, there is no money left but that dosent mean he cant print more. BHO has no respect for the constitution or the people who wrote it, to him its only a piece of paper, written to long ago to be relevent. He thinks that only he and the government can solve our problems. Much has been written about this mans intelligence but his actions put that assumption in doubt, his policies indicate a man of limited intelligence with an agenda of hate for our country.

jerabaub...
I don't think anybody denies that some people aren't getting the healthcare they want and possibly need. It would be hard to argue that they are getting less healthcare than 10, 20, or 50 years ago. There is more information on how to keep healthy than ever before, as well. But it is mostly ignored. We call that a form of moral hazard. Why take care of yourself if somebody is going to fix you afterwards. But I digress. The issue isn't whether the healthcare is available or even affordable. It is whether we will be better off if government takes over health care than if it doesn't.

The quality of debate in politics has devolved to the point that people are endlessly arguing whether healthcare is better or worse in countries that have nationalized healthcare. If you are poor in America and without health insurance, then a nationalized solution is more attractive than if you have prospered and have good health care benefits and/or can afford to take advantage of any and all healthcare options available in the market when you want to purchase them.

Sorry, but your post seems to lack substance. Are you ready to argue a point or offer a solution to some problem real or perceived?

Amnesty John was only worse on the neoCON thing (how much can America be made to sacrifice for a tiny foreign nation), and that by degree.

Amnesty John (like Dubya) had apparently made a Faustian deal for Hispanic support-- which neither really ever got. His desire to give amnestia to 12-20 million ILLEGAL aliens would assure America's demise... the left also cannot wait to enfranchise these natural big government voters, whereupon they will reign forever in control as we slouch toward Gomorrah-- permanent third world big government.

Within 20 years of Kennedy-McAmnesty ilk amnesty, we would have 100 million new formerly poor and ignorant ILLEGALS/aliens as citizens per Heritage, which would cost us almost $3 TRILLION:

ORACLE 1 - Ga
Your post at 12:22 is exaclty 100% correct.

The left caused this financial down spiral, they take no responsiblity for it and are now making it worse. The news yesterday reported that Obama said that the amount of interest deductions on real estate will be limited at certain income levels. This is a disaster that will not help the market to recover. I worked for 12 years in the commercial real estate business and a lot of consideration by commerical investors is the benefit of their interest deductions for tax purposes. This also applys to investments in rental property. This action will limit the amount of investments that are done in this country for many years. Real Estate and the Stock Market are the largst investments made every year by Americans. No wonder the stock markets dropped 300 points yesterday.

Does this President not want our country to recover? He has gone crazy.

I am also mad as He** and I don't want to take it anymore. I am joining the next Texas Tea Party and write to every Senator in office, Democrats and Republicans.

Oracle
"Fannie and Freddie did get lots of flak from the Right for taking risks for which taxpayers might eventually have to foot the bill...both companies also got tangled in accounting scandals in 2003 and 2004. But more shocking was what followed from 2004 through 2006: The two mortgage giants got muscled aside by Wall Street firms willing to underwrite bigger, riskier mortgages than F&F were allowed to touch. Their joint market share fell to only about 25% in 2006.

In other words, Fannie and Freddie were mostly bystanders to the worst excesses of the housing bubble".

Above quote from http://economistsview.typepad.com.

Oracle, if F&F got muscled aside by Wall Street schemers who underwrote riskier mortgages than F&F, and F&F's market share fill to 25% in 2006, why is F&F the "Emmanual Goldstein"(see Orwell's "1984)of the political right?

It is too convenient.

F&F, Democrat Congress, AND G.W. Bush Ownership Society, AND lack of regulation of credit default swaps, ALL contributed to this crisis.

guvment IS the problem
To say there is a problem is NOT to say that guvment is the solution. [see famous Reagan axiom.] Health care costs need to be reigned in, but the guvment will NOT really do this-- it will ration health care (see all other countries... Canadians come HERE when they really need surgery) and add an IMMENSE bureaucratic cost.

I challenge anyone to cite a guvment which has effected any semblance of national health care where TRUE costs are not a stopper. We already work till mid-May of a tax year to pay all taxes, and that is BEFORE the pending Obamanations/massive new intrusion of govt.

Good Luck and Goodbye
I have enjoyed these TH boards, and for the most part the intelligent postings, except for the random leftist and idiots who worship at the alter of lies. However, I now find it time to take leave of this intellectual masturbation. Taking-out our frustrations on internet sites and reading the Conservative pundits serve no meaningful purpose. I also say goodbye to Fox News and Rush, etc. More useless exercise in futility.

Look at the facts, the Far Left has taken total control and will hold it for a very long time. The "investor class" is being destroyed as we speak. Those who played by the free market rules and believed in Adam Smith, believed in our Constitution and our form of Representative Republic are being systematically destroyed by the leftist flood. Obama laughs at every 100 point drop in the markets. By driving the upper middle class into poverty he expands the universe of the needy.

Obama and his cadre of radical leftists have been given this country and he will, indeed, have his way with it. He is in a hurry. He and his leftist army care not a whit for you or yours, we are NOT his constituency, we are to be punished for our years of selfishness, you know just caring for our own families and our self centered retirements. We cannot and will not resist, he knows this.

From now on, survival is the only course. We will know poverty, it is our punishment and in Obama's mind punishment we deserve. I will no longer take part in these wasted efforts of pseudo resistance. The ruling class of Leftists simply laugh at us as they consolidate their power. We have no heroes, we have no defenders, we are defeated and the left is enjoying the spoils of their victory. They are more committed, they are more ruthless and they have definite goals.

Thanks for the past, it was a good ride while it lasted. I will retire to my music and my art - I now grieve for my children and grand children. Goodbye.........

I am "old school" and still think in archaic terms of how a society treats its people, or how a government treats its citizens.

I need to be educated to new realities, I suppose.

Given that infant mortality rates are lower, longevity(of life)rates are higher, per patient health care costs are FAR lower, in most industrialized nations that practice some form of(gasp)socialized medicine than in our Beloved Republic, I sometimes ask embarrassing questions.

Our Emperor has no clothes?

It is not a crime to ask.

No.

I am not a fan of socalled socialism.

But I am a fan of keeping an open mind.

Yes.

I have a stubborn streak that examines statistics relating to the above indices.

And I make my conclusions accordingly.

reply to: jerebaub
I don't often disagree with you, but speaking as a senior level banker for 25 years with major banks, we MUST fault the guvment and THE LEFT with the mortgage crisis, which in turn precipitated the world-wide financial crash-- the CNBC documentary "House Of Cards" is a "critical see" in this regard.

Briefly, Fannie and Freddie were just part of the fed's meddling (see also deregulating of Wall St./repeal of Glass-Stegall in '99)... mainly, the left (Barney Frank, Chris Dudd, etc.) REQUIRED mortgage lenders/banks to make sub-prime loans. That in turn led to a false housing boom and R.E. "values" (and related stocks) rising in bubble fashion-- just like Japan experienced in the 1980's before its economy cratered. The crash was INEVITABLE.

The leftist THEORY was that homeowners become more responsible citizens... but home ownership is for the RESPONSIBLE-- it cannot be a right. Two key questions about ANY loan were ignored-- Can they pay? Will they pay?

Finally!
Now here's a Buchanan column with which I can agree wholeheartedly!

On what planet does it make sense, when in financial difficulty, to borrow more money and spend it wildly on unnecessary nonsense?

In the case of government spending, of course, the money is not borrowed, but forcibly confiscated from the people. If it is borrowed from China today, it will be repaid, with interest, with money confiscated from taxpayers tomorrow. Eventually, every penny government spends is forcibly confiscated from us and our children, and their children, etc.

"What is prudence in the conduct of every private family can scarce be folly in that of a great kingdom." - Adam Smith

You're right that the opinions of someone like Bill Gates (or Warren Buffet) count more than some bum on the street.

Which is why it's important to remember that both Gates and Buffet voted for Obama.

Thanks for playing, here's a home version of the game for you.

a real danger here
re:
"You're right that the opinions of someone like Bill Gates (or Warren Buffet) count more than some bum on the street."

The rich ARE different from you and me-- they have a LOT more $.

As a result, they lose perspective on day-to-day issues that the rest of us must face. Some get a "let them eat cake" attitude, but some also imagine that their wealth, achieved due to capitalism, gives them wisdom about how we should all be governed... see also Ted Turner's strange warmth toward the former USSR.

Similar point-- college profs also live in an artificial world... they are typically hard left, even as they make 6-figure incomes and enjoy lifestyles not attainable in socialist countries.

A Mob of Dimwits
I've never seen such eagerness to say stupid things--I pray they are only verbalized and not actually firmly held beliefs.

In successive posts here we have nimrods claiming that the press covered Obama too much during the election and that he was covered too little. We have morons claiming he's a captive creature of the banks and that he's doing ACORN's bidding (couldn't be two more different sets of priorities there...) And of course we have the truly insane providing us entertainment by claiming he's spending millions to hide that he wasn't born in the US. The dumbest (or most evil) of all, Lynne from SC, claims (against all evidence) that Obama met with the Supreme Court right after his inauguration and threatened them not to hear the cases brought by the mouth breathers who want to prove that his birth certificate is a fake. Thanks for the entertainment, but we're tired now, so go back under that rock.

What a lilly-livered bunch of pussies you all are--Obama comes in and takes a stand, implements some policies (with the approval of Congress...) and all of a sudden you freak out and claim the sky is falling, the world is coming to an end. Jeez, no wonder the world hates us, you sound like a pretty hateful (and hateable) bunch.

OLD PROGRMR -SC

It hurt to read your post because I know exactly how you feel. You paint a bleek picture for our future, but nothing that my husband and I have not thought about or discussed in detail. We have always believed in this country and the strength and courage of it's people, proud of who we are and what we have accomplished as a nation.

In my heart I know what you describe does not have to happen, but I also fear it may and we must be prepared. It is not my nature to say goodbye and give up, but have we become the voice in the wilderness? Now we must have the HOPE that this great country does not sink in the abyss of oblivion. How do we change the tide of destruction? What voice is out there to stand up to this destruction?

Where are the few good men/women who will hold the standard high? It is still our America to protect and defend. I can not go quietly into the night.

oracle
It would be interesting to see stats on rates of foreclosures due to failure to pay mortgages on PRIMARY homes, as opposed to such rates on speculative purchasing of homes, and it might be interesting to see rates of delinquency due to persons taking out loans on their existing homes in order to make improvements.

I think it is a bit too convenient to lay all this on the poor, altho I am not so naive as to think the Democrats and G.W. Bush both sought to make homes more accessible to more people.

And I don't deny many folks who SHOULD have known better bought more home than they could afford.

I also think Wall Street bankers exploited this financial atmosphere for all it was worth, gaming the system to the hilt.

Jerebaub...
It is not a crime to ask, rather it is irresponsible not to ask those questions. Be careful about statistics, however.

Child mortality may be higher as a result of our ability to deliver increasingly premature babies with increasingly more challenging health problems. Infant mortality can be the influenced by moms who abuse substances or avoid good nutrition and prenatal care for a number of reasons, including their status as illegal aliens. Longevity can be influenced by many lifstyle factors including drug abuse, overeating, sedentary lifestyle, promiscuity and high risk activities like joining gangs, skydiving, driving on friday nights whether or not you are under the influence, etc.

I like to separate the notion of how a government treats its people from how a society treats its people. When we voluntary help ouir neighbor, we can can as much from the experience as the person we help. We at least know the outcome. When the government steps in to take our money and help others, the people they help and actions they take will vary depending on who is in power. What we do know is that there will be little if any accountability and that the government agency involved will skim 20% or more of the resources right off the top. And another thing we see whenever the government pays is that we get fewer choices, the choices we have are more heavily regulated, and demand tends to outstrip supply meaning shortages and waits to recieve services.

oldprogrmr
You may be gone, but you've got it all wrong.

The Leftists haven't won, but they are winning. And they are winning now because they have thrown everything they have at us.

And so now they are in charge and they must govern. They are no longer in the position of talking about the great utopia they espouse...they now have to make it so. And they will fall on their face. It's inevitable.

Once they've fallen, they're done. They will be out of promises, out of fanciful plans and dreams and will be exposed for what they are: Frauds.

And the people of this country will want real leadership. And it will come. And the frauds, with all their showmanship, their lies and distortions, race-baiting and political-correctness...will be swept aside.

A cleansing is coming my friend, a cleansing is coming. And there will be a lot of thunder before we get there...but we will get there. Conservatism is what is...it can't be beaten.

Jerebaub...
I too wonder how many houses in default were bought by realtively affluent people looking to make a quick buck by flipping them or with the expectation that they would increase in value indefinitely. The same people approving high risk loans for the poor may have also been approving high risk loans for the wealthy or even middle class. In fact, I wonder if adjustable rate mortgages weren't more common for middle class homebuyers expecting to "move up" in a few years before the ARM started ratcheting up.

true mandates are RARE
RE;
"But Bush claimed a mandate with 51% of the vote in 2004. So Obama sure as hell can with 53%."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

And BOTH were highly presumptuous... just as was Clinton who got 43.0% of the vote in '92 due to the garrulous gadfly Perot, yet Slick Willie later brayed about "a mandate."

Pols have a way of braying that which suits their purposes.

Reagan blew out Carter... LBJ blew out Goldwater... but most elections are not landslides, and even fewer can really be called mandates for change. Dubya created the rancor that set the table for Obama-- then the neoCONS foisted the terrible (Dubya redux) Amnesty John on the RINO Party.

Liberals wax nostalgic about the halcyon days of FDR, but as the 1940 election approached, FDR had to lie about his war agenda to get re-elected... and unemployment was unchanged after 8 years of the New deal-- FDR truly feared a loss.

Healthcare costs
Healthcare costs would go down if government would get out of the way. What the government could do is to standardize the paperwork. Instead of each inusrance provider having their own paperwork, thus requiring an army of paperwork specialists, hospitals and healthcare providers could reduce some of their overhead costs and pass them along to the consumers. If the government wants to provide healthcare insurance to the poor, make them work for it or only provide it for a limited amount of time. Like welfare reform, it would force people to get off their duffs and work or find a job which provides healthcare benefits. I also understand that this is only a partial solution and that liability costs need to be reigned in by limiting lawsuits, etc. (tort reform). I just think that the paperwork would be a good start to reducing costs.

Anyone remember Laurel & Hardy?
I think they are back and have been elected to govern the Country.

re: your 1:39 post

There is NO QUESTION that there was housing speculation going on, AND Wall St. WAS a key villain here once again-- see earlier lesser dotcom crisis.

BUT the MAIN problem was that many millions got mortgages that normal rules forbade their getting... Mexifornia led the crisis in this regard, and many there were ILLEGAL aliens.

The non-bank mortgage lenders like Countrywide especially went crazy with no-doc loans, non-traditional repayments, etc. And Fannie and Freddie bought much of the sub-prime junk, giving false confidence to all.

Anyone who reads this owes it to him/herself to see that CNBC documentary "House Of Cards" (see my 12:22 post) which explains how the mortgage cluster xxxx devolved... and the left's dirty fingerprints are ALL OVER IT.

You make some good points.

But freedom has its downsides.

If our bad stats are due to our inordinate amount of freedoms, that has some difficult implications.

With no nanny state around, some citizens of our Beloved Republic are free to engage in risky behavior, eat foods that are unhealthy, etc.

But someone foots the bill for their decisions.

Namely John Q. Public..his taxes.

When a "mother" ingests cocaine, or crack, the likelihood of the child being born prematurely, or addicted to the drug, increases exponentially.

Who ends up paying for the medical costs on birthing or detoxifying a severely premature or addicted baby?

It can easily be hundreds of thousands of dollars, maybe more.

How many thousands are born under these circumstances each year?

It is the same to me, whether they are black or white.

At some point, if people will not police their own behavior, some entity must..and while I hope it would not be govt, it may in fact have to be.

Society should demand it.

I don't think that is being unreasonable.

On your point about affluent people making a quick buck thru flipping, yes, I am sure that was part of the problem.

And yes, the system did encourage the poor to purchase homes. That too is a part of the problem.

re:
"Given that infant mortality rates are lower, longevity(of life)rates are higher, per patient health care costs are FAR lower, in most industrialized nations that practice some form of(gasp)socialized medicine than in our Beloved Republic, I sometimes ask embarrassing questions."

We do spend twice per capita what similar countries spend on health care... our health care providers are indeed killing their golden goose with excessive cost.

As for country stats, that gets tricky... average life expectancy is about the same (ergo, our bang for the buck is atrocious). We are dragged down in this regard by a huge minority population creating special challenges not evident in, say, Germany.

Costs are lower elsewhere in a fashion-- but true costs are a different thing. How do you measure rationed care? Very long waits? Doctor shortages in Canada? Why do many who can come to the U.S. for care?

My main point-- we NEED to demand health care cost containment, BUT guvment intrusion to do that will be prohibitively expensive.

I think we are in agreement that a number of factors were involved on this crisis.

You may be right that a majority of the blame should be directed at the Left.

But I still think the Right shares alot of blame here.

One would expect the Left to drip with unbridled compassion for the poor(with someone else's dime).

What I was surprised to learn was the gullibility of the Right in thinking market forces would act rationally.

Greenspan himself, a devotee of Ayn Rand, was forced to concede in congressional testimony last October that he had made a fundamental error:

"[T]hose of us who have looked to the self-interest of lending institutions to protect shareholder's equity (myself especially) are in a state of shocked disbelief".

I guess even a school yard fascination with Ayn Rand sometimes comes to a brutal end.

The photo op today with the President and the Prime Minister was more than just a photo op. It was a powerful symbol of the future.

Our future is uncertain, to be sure.

But watching President Obama interact with Gordon Brown gave me confidence.

Healthcare costs
With all the issues discussed on this thread, it always boils down to the inability of government and its people to say "no". There are always exceptions that later turn into the status quo.

Recently there has been considerable focus on those that have screwed up and yet are rewarded. I will use an example I am familiar with. A man around 40 now, took drugs as a young man that caused him to become an addict. He ended up trading one addiction for another and became an alcoholic as well. Now he is sick and has been in the hospital for many months just trying to survive. At the very best, he has worked a few hours a week for most of his life. All his hospital bills, living expenses are paid by the government. Because of his illness, he no longer works at all and is not planning to do so in the future. He really is a super guy and actually quite intelligent. However he no longer operates with a full deck. Actually his case is not in the least uncommon. The problem is because he is not unique and there are millions just like him, the government just keeps approving more money for more of these social programs with little regard for the fact that long term a few simply will not be able to take care of so many. Obama's social agenda is not viable long-term. He can shift the cost every single year to those that are working and making a good living, but at some point that well will become dry.

The downside to threats of raising taxes, is that it will take away incentives to take risks and work hard. I can honestly say I feel that myself. My family owns two businesses and I have several other ideas, but frankly Obama has really, really caused me to consider a risky path coupled with hard work. It may instead look better for many of us to just cash in our chips and let President Obama take care of us.

US Idiot # 56
It's curious that you call Obama "dumb" when your short post contains so many errors:

1. Obama is not a Kenyan by birth, he was born in Hawaii.
2. He does not have a Muslim world view, even though you were able to make your fingers type those words.
3. He was not given a MARXIST indoctrination at an early age...or at any age. Just because you don't like him doesn't make him a Marxist.
4. If you read his book, it's clear he's NOT pissed off that his father abandoned him.
5. He doesn't view himself as living in a WHITE WORLD...which is probably one of the reason all the mopes and dimbulbs are afraid of him.

If you had a hut, a chicken, and a pair of sandles ...you might think you're rich, but the rest of us would spell them sandals. We'd probably also want you to get your old fridge off of your front porch and the junker off the front lawn.

You might also be sorry that you gave the reigns of power to someone that you falsely claim is a "marxist-pig", but the rest of us have voted to give him the "reins" of power as President.

Sorry Mel (@ 14:01)

Whats Saturday's MD lottery numbers? You seem to be all knowing all seeing

Therein lies the rub...
jerebaub,

I know you have flown the coop, but you bring up the challenge of moving towards freedom. It is difficult to do piecemeal. Every freedom can be abused and if abuse isn't restrained or punished by personal accountability, then we really haven't gained anything. The taxpayer should not have to pay for the consequences of the misbehavior of some miscreant. Joe Q Citizen, OTOH may well decide to be charitable and help out the miscreant. But that is voluntary and may well be conditional. I think cold-hearted, miserly liberals consider their willingness to give to charity and assume everybody is like them. But history has shown that Americans are the most generous people ever to reside on this planet. Our freedom-based culture and limited government have enabled Americans to create wealth beyond imagination, which has made all of that charity possible.

I trust peer pressure and the goodness of the American people more than government to ensure that risky behavior is discouraged and minimized. I expect the government to try and punish people who inflict harm on others with their risky or bad behavior.

You can argue whether it is a good idea, for example, to legalize drugs, but you can't really do it until you are resolved to hold drug users/abusers fully accountable for their behavior while under the influence.

He can't be this stupid
so clearly he is puposefully trying to destroy our economy. It is getting bad out there. Retirees are being forced back to work and those who were soon to retire cannot. At the same time Obama says he could not care less about the stock market? He wants to bring down the middle and upper middle class -- why I'm not sure. Does he hate this country, really want a socialist country, or just want to punish white people? Who knows but we are all going to suffer because of him and he does not care.

the midlle and upper middle classes can forget any inheritance, and may have to support their parents while at the same time their own retirement is gone along with what they have saved for their children's college. It is truly frightening. I fear for my children if he suceeds. I've accepted that my standard of living will drop and that my parents are facing a potentially poor retirement, but to look at your children and to know that their standard of living will be lower than yours is devastating.

“Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism.”

Good point, I can use money-saved on taxes for flights to Colorado.

Two problems present themselves:

1) Extracting myself California--if only I could be fortunate enough to be laid off, I'd have a good excuse to pack the family and leave;

2) How do Texans feel about Californians moving next door? I know I am guilty by association whenever I visit a western mountain state.

Nationwide Tax Day Tea Party - April 15
Join an estimated 30,000+ conservatives in 50+ cities on April 15, as in the Chicago Tea Party events across the country on Feb 27, to show grassroots opposition to this economic and political train wreck before it is too late. Find links at http://www.SurgeUSA.org to the national and local organizers. This is not a Republican Party event. It's ordinary people who don't want it to get to the pitchforks and torches. There are even Democrats with buyers remorse.

Don't Worry, Be Happy,
Look on the bright side!

Weather forecasters say no severe drought conditions are predicted for the United States for next couple of years.

We won't have to go through a Great Depression and a Dust Bowl at the same time!

Califorians are welcomed...
by homeowners in Texas. They generally overpay for new homes based on their experience in CA and raise our property values accordingly. ;)

What He Should Do
It is premature to be predicting any kind of American revolt. The dismal economic news still affects a small minority of our citizens. Most have lots of good food, cheap bear, warm houses and big TVs. Most simply want to watch football and American Idol. There is no need for our ruling elites to fear grass eating farm animals with full bellies. They'll not leave the farm.

Obama won the election. He rightfully feels entitled to our wealth and to reshape our society. We gave him this power. It is unrealistic to think he won't use it. He's no pitiful white GOP gelding who offers his wife for others' pleasures to get a poll point.

When most Americans are in ruin, then they can be aroused to revolt. Because they're stupid, they can be made to direct their fury at anyone. Because they watch morning entertainment shows for their news, they can be made to blame Sarah Palin for the nation's demise. It is not difficult to manipulate them. Obama has nothing to worry about.

If I were Obama, I would raise taxes on "the rich" 100% and use the money to buy foreign vacation homes for the party members so that they will have a sanctuary when our economy collapses and we descend into anarchy.

Then, when the civil unrest begins, I would order the military to shoot and kill all registered GOP voters, white suburbanites, and other "enemies of the people".

Why not? Hasn't our messiah earned an occassional period of comic relief? My God, it is an enormous burden to rule over a nation of slaves.

He's Doing What He Said He'd Do...
He may be a socialist idiot, but apparently he wasn't kidding around about initiating his radical agenda as soon as possible. I'd like to know who will build the roads and work on all the new "infrastructure" if Obama has every person automatically earn a college degree. Does that mean every person who is hired for a road crew needs to have a college education? I don't believe every person wants to have a college education...does he plan to penalize those who choose not to continue school? He is a joke, and a bad one at that. I am sickened by what he is about to perpetrate on this nation, and sickened by those who wanted "change" so bad they ignored the writing on the wall. Unfortunately, we all will suffer for that.

Thank you for the input.

I have neither wealth nor the skills, just an abundance of luck and fortune. I do desire to get out of here before the civil disorder starts.

Houston's factors you pointed out:

1) "In Houston, you are 4 hours from snow by air." A plus.

2) "I'm sure its illegals would make you feel at home, as well." Well put. I am opposed to illegal immigration in principle, but in practice I live with it every day without affect. Hopefully there are not as many Chinese immigrants in Houston. (This is not a racist or xenophobic statement. Ask any American-Asian about Chinese immigrants, barring their immediate family).

3) Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the oil & gas and chemicals industries. Never too late to learn.

4) "Of course, you lose the Hollywood circus." Hollywood resides within its own bubble--it doesn't bother you until you venture into the bubble. When I had to enter the bubble for business, I was fortunate to be able to jump out as soon as possible. Unfortunately, its one of the few marginal growth industries right now, meaning I might get engulfed in the bubble.

5) "The drive to Louisiana for gambling is similar to the drive to Vegas." Ahh, New Orleans and Vegas . . . memories of being a twenty-something single. Man, I am getting old.

The biggest kink to moving to Houston, as I posted earlier: How do Texans feel about Californians moving next door?

What to do???
Unfortunately, there is no option to recall Obama.

We'll never get the House to impeach him, much less get the Senate to convict, so that's out.

The SCJ could oust him, but only if a birth certificate could prove he wasn't born in Hawaii.

We just can't pray to God that he dies...that wouldn't be right.

I guess I'll just have to wait until summer to cross the Detroit River into Canada...thanks to AlGore and his Global Warming, it's just too darn cold right now.

"We just can't pray to God that he dies...that wouldn't be right."

And if he died, Joe Biden would be President. If that does not make your eyeballs roll into the back of your head . . .

But a plus with that scenario is that Biden would surely lose a reelection shot. But in that context, the minus is that Republicans will feel that they can nominated anyone to run against him and give us another Dole-McCain, or even another Bush.

Obama Administration: Tax Cheats R Us

Big Democrats just can't seem to get right with Big Government, lately.

Tim Geithner "mistakenly" avoided more than $40,000 in taxes. Nancy Killefer withdrew her nomination over word that she failed to pay employment taxes for household help. Tom Daschle "honestly" overlooked more than $100,000 for a car service donated to him by a lobbying company. Hilda Solis, Obama's Labor Secretary nominee, faces questions over her husband's failure to pay thousands in tax bills, some of them 16 years old.

Now, it turns out, skull-cracker Rahm Emanuel himself has been crashing in a colleague's basement for five years for free and, you guessed it, not paying taxes on the abode.

It would likely fall in the same category as Daschle's car service in the IRS' eyes. And, that would put Rahm Emanuel in the same category as Geithner, Killefer, and Daschle. Clearly, the Cult of Competence does not allow decent accountants."

Yes, I denigrate those who falsely claim, without any proof, that Obama is not a natural born US citizen. They are silly children who have been (far too easily) misled, and their yapping is tiresome. Their lies are even worse.

You had to produce an original birth certificate to join the Navy and to receive your Masters license (congrats) from the Coast Guard, but you didn't have to show them to me. Obama had to prove to the satisfaction of the Federal Election Commission and the US Supreme Court that he is a natural born citizen, and he has. He doesn't have to prove it to every citizen individually, so forgive him if he hasn't gotten around to showing it to you.

Obama has produced his original birth certificate, even shown it on his web site, but the doofus brigade keeps claiming that it's not the real deal. They have no evidence, they're saying stupid things--one woman on TH a couple weeks ago gave us great entertainment by claiming that there was a difference between a birth certificate and certificate of live birth!

Do you honestly think that if there was the least chance that he wasn't born in the US that the Supreme Court--which is currently 5-4 conservative--wouldn't hear the case? Do you think that if there was any evidence that he wasn't born in the US, that Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage wouldn't hammer at it 24/7? They all looked into it, and said his original birth certificate is legit and there's no evidence he was born anywhere other than in Hawaii.

Now you hear this equally stupid, false, made-up claim that Obama has "spent over 800 thousand bucks to hide" his birth certificate--of course, without a shred of evidence. The only evidence in these claims is the stupidity of those who keep making them.

You Kool-aid drinkers are so naive, you'll buy anything.

"We have long ignored the plight of those less fortunate."

Perhaps, unfortunately Republicans do not ignore those who enjoy sucking on the teat of the government sow.

Republicans have many brands of socialism of their own. Of course, they never talk about them, but nevertheless, it comes in many forms. One form is bailing out huge companies. Take AIG, for example, under the Bush administration, they sucked at the teat of the government sow to the tune of $152.2 billion. That's $500 smackeroos per American.

That Republican give-away took money from all Americans and gave it to the executives who have successfully run AIG into the ground. AIG is the insurance giant, that once they got their greedy hands on some taxpayer's money, went to a fancy spa, got rub-downs and drank fine champagne. Executives in this fine company increased their deferred compensation and gave themselves enormous bonuses. Talk about feeding at the government trough. George Bush, Hank Paulson and Ben Bernanke certainly knew how to take care of some of their friends.

In sum, it is yet another Republican example of the ruthless expropriation of wealth from the American downtrodden toiling strata to those in the upper strata.

Comrade Obama..

Obama lied; America died..

AN ACT OF TREASON: OBAMA Part I
Fellow Americans,

My name is SSgt Brian Keith. In the past I have let myself blindly believe that serving in the military was as far as my responsibility went when protecting our country. I was wrong. Although I have not been in for 20 years, I did serve active duty, then served as a civil servant and as a reservist. When the election was over, I decided that I could not serve under the current elected president.

Never in my life did I fathom that certain words in the oath I swore would come to fruition, "enemies DOMESTIC". At first I figured that it was just rhetoric from individuals whose party lost in the election, and they were just grasping at radical straws. Although my views are somewhat conservative, I really didn't have a party that I associated with, because it seems that there aren't any representatives. To be representatives, they have to actually respond to and act on the behalf of their constituents. Since we as Americans have allowed this to happen by not getting involved. and not restricting those that we vote into office, I have decided that I must fight for our future. It is a dishonor to our forefathers that we have allowed such a destruction of the Constitution that they put in place to protect us. They protected us, but we are refusing to protect the future, "our children".

http://defendourfreedoms.us/2009/03/03/lack-of-response-by -obama-administration-is-an-act-of-treason-by-sgt-brian-kei th-usmc.aspx

AN ACT OF TREASON: OBAMA Part II
Because of the lack of response by Obama and his administration, it is evident to me that this is an act of treason against our country. The American people put their trust in him to protect this nation, the Constitution, and the principles from which it was founded. There is never a good reason to not be forthcoming with the American people, when you are given their trust in the highest office. There is no reasonable excuse not to have already shared what so many have requested, unless their is a direct attack against our foundation.

My fear now is that any information given to rebuff this inquiry will be false. If it is true that he is not legitimately the president, do we have enough patriots that understand how egregious this assault is, and would support the punishment that is warranted? Would our non-representatives actually do anything about it, when they do not even listen to our wishes on any small bill they wish to pass? The point for us to stand has come. We either refuse to let them tear our freedom apart, or we submit. If there are not enough true Americans out there to stop this false government, then I will not be around to see the end result. I swore to support and defend the US Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. I will gladly give my life to fulfill my oath if that is what the future of our nation requires.

You truly frighten me. How do two parents spawn such a shortsighted thinker? Yeah, right, grow the economy from the bottom up. You certainly did not take any finance classes or ever held a responsible job if you truly feel that way. And that is what it is. Feelings. No thought process involved. I would be interested in knowing just how much you give to charities as it is the bleeding heart liberals who keep the tightest reign on their pocketbooks when it comes to giving. You think if the government gives to poor people then you have done your job. God is going to judge you for what you have done and who you have helped. Government does not have money to give. It has our money. I would probably give even more to charities if it wasn't being taken away from me. As it is, my husband and I give over a fourth of our income to charity. Much more than the fuehrer.

AN ACT OF TREASON: OBAMA Part III
It is unfortunate that we started to sew these seeds in the last administration. Although President Bush did many things that I know were the right thing, and I was proud he stood by his beliefs and principles, he violated our most important document as well. Yes, he was reacting to an unprecedented attack on our country (and personally I agreed with some of his reactions), I can not stand behind the violations of the Constitution that he perpetuated. I have to defend the constitution at all cost, even when I feel it restricts my desires. This is what order and freedom are founded on.

The past cannot be changed, so all I can do is dedicate my life to the future, and I will report for duty. Anyone who is not dedicated to these basic principles is not American, and doing nothing makes you a member to those ranks. May we have strength and be dedicated in our resolve to not dishonor our founding fathers and to defend the United States of America.

In the third paragraph of your statement you say "Because of the lack of response by Obama and his administration, it is evident to me that this is an act of treason against our country."

Lack of response to what?

"Worse president this country.."

Too early to say. We're still digesting the malfeasance of the micscreant eight year long Bush administration.

On Monday, the Treasury Department unveiled yet another plan to support struggling insurer AIG (AIG, Fortune 500), which posted a 2008 loss of $99 billion.

Eight years of Republican administration malfeasance coming to fruition. Twelve of the last 14 years with Speaker of the House being a Republican coming to fruition.

If you want to look at an imbecile, then take a good look at a card-carrying member of the Republican party and go take a good look at a mirror.

You are a systemic 'cutter and runner.' Cowards, like yourself, would have fled Omaha Beach just as victory was at the tipping point.

imagine that
"Obama lied; America died.."

In fact Republicans continue to lie and Americans continue to die.

Many Republicans like to say that the Democrats cut defense spending in the first two years of 'Bubba' Clinton's presidency, just before Newt Gingrich became Speaker of the House.

The 103rd United States Senate had 56 Democrats and 44 Republicans. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 1993 to January 3, 1995, during the first two years of the first administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Was it filibuster proof? The answer is NO!

As many good conservatives on this web site have noted, the Bush Administration and the Republican-controlled Congress from 2001-2007 were not able to pass any "Drill here, drill now" legislation because the Demoncrats always filibustered it. Point, well made!

If those deep defense cuts happened in 'Bubba' Clinton's first two years, how come the Republican senate, with 44 senators didn't filibuster those deep defense cuts? Did the Democrats from 2001-2007 care more about the sea turtle off of the coast of Florida than the Gingrich Republicans care about National Security? Can someone explain this?

In fact, those deep defense cuts happened under Newt Gingrich Speaker-ship and the Republican-controlled Congress passed the Base Realignment and Closure (or BRAC) Act in November of 1995.

Again, these contemptible Republicans put this nation in grave danger.

If these odious and contemptible Republicans lie about things like the 'Clinton Administration Defense Cuts', then what will they not lie about?

one year
One year from now nobody will be able to find anybody that voted for Obama. When you ride down the highway look for the bumpers with the torn off sticker outline.

Here is what the Republicans need to do
first of all stop being wimps and whining and shuffling and jiving to Obama's every word. They not only need to be the party of "no," but the party of "Hell, no!" Don't agree to anything Obama puts forth. Don't get their hands dirty doing anything for Obama. Then they have to pick their most conservative, well-spoken person to head their party. Right now it is Rush Limbaugh, but he won't run for anything so we have to find someone with his guts. I am not sure who that will be yet although I have a couple in mind I will not write here for fear the nutcases will start the character assasination immediately. We must win the house back in the midterm election. We must be aggressive and never, and I mean never back down from the liberals. No more crossing the aisle to get along. Every time I see McCain interviewed as though he speaks for us it makes my blood boil. He no longer is a viable candidate. He gave the presidency to the evil one. If the Republicans do not get some balls, they will continue to lose. We must keep their feet to the fire.

"May we have strength and be dedicated in our resolve to not dishonor our founding fathers and to defend the United States of America."

Yes, true, then stop playing politics with American national security.

Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
"Congress has the power to tax and to spend."

It was the Republican-controlled Congress of the 1990's, six of Bubba's eight years had a Republican Speaker of the House, the last six and most important, that ruthlessly cut our national security down to the bone.

Those Clinton administration defense cuts were actually Republican-controlled Congress defense cuts. These defense cuts put this nation in grave danger and led to 911. This country was unprepared because of Republican defense cuts.

If you want America put in danger, then vote Republican.

If these odious and evidently godless Republicans are willing to lie about our national security can they be trusted about telling the truth regarding anything?

Zoodoodat
Thank you for thinking Republicans are contemptible. I want people like you to hate us. I know we are getting somewhere when the liberals begin to show their true colors. You are all skunks and are taking this wonderful country down. Keep hating us. It is what all you liberals do best. See folks, no more crossing the aisle to get along. I do not want to get along with someone like Zoodoodat. He is probably a dismal failure in his life and wants to take us all down with him. Aint gonna happen on my watch. I have my grandchildren's futures to protect.

Zoodoodat
I have never seen a finer display of stupidity then when I read your comments.

If you want a socialist country go to RUSSIA. along with all your commie liberal friends.

Zoodoodat
Bring it on little man. I am sure you are the kind of person I think you are. The kind I would never allow in my house to sit at my table. I always wonder what kind of parents some people have to turn out the way you have. You want the government to give you everything. Do you have a job, Zoodoodat? I would guess not a very good one. Do you have a family you support or do you have the government(we the people) take care of your offspring for you? Just wondering. I cannot imagine voting for a man who wants to destroy this wonderful country. Even the poorest here have it much better than the richest in many third world countries. Obama is going to make this a third world country if we do not stop him. Why don't you join us instead of fighting us. You are going to lose no matter what.

One other thing the Republicans must not
do if elected, start spending again. We use to be the fiscally conservative party and I will agree with some here that Republicans have spent just as much if not more than Democrats. If they continue down this road, they will no longer be viable as a party and a new one will have to form. True conservatives will no longer tolerate this. The democrats won't change their stripes ever, we can count on that. They have always been the big spenders and love it when Republicans go along with them. This has to stop NOW. What really needs to happen with both Republicans and Democrats is we should vote all the bums out and get a fresh start.
