Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. ... I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Thus did Joe Biden famously describe his rival for the nomination, Barack Obama, to the The New York Observer, a year ago.

Biden, however, thought Obama might not be able to win the fall election, as he is "a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate. ... I don't recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic."

Biden was forced to apologize, but was dead on in discerning Barack's strengths as a candidate in the primaries, which might prove weaknesses in the fall.

A new face in the game, Barack opened with three aces. He opposed the Iraq war, the defining issue in a party that had come to detest the war. He was an African-American. Thus, as the hopes of millions rose that he could be the first black president, there were surges of black voters whom he begin to sweep 90-10.

Lastly, Barack is a natural, a Mickey Mantle, a superb political athlete like JFK, who has looks, charm, youth and a speaking style that can move crowds to cheers or laughter.

Barack was thus able to unite the McGovern wing -- young, idealistic, liberal, anti-war -- with the Jesse Jackson quadrant of the party, black folks, and defeat Hillary's coalition of working-class Catholics, women, seniors and Hispanics.

As of today, by the traditional metrics of national politics, Democrats should roll up a victory this fall like FDR's first in 1932.

Bush's disapproval is near 70 percent, and 80 percent of the country believes the nation is on the wrong course. Unemployment is rising. Surging gas and food prices compete for the top story not only on business pages but front pages, with home foreclosures and the housing slump. Family incomes of Middle Americans have ceased to rise, as millions of their best jobs have been outsourced overseas.

Yet, national polls show McCain-Obama a close race, and the electoral map points to critical problems for Barack.

He seeks, for example, to target Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico. But in all three the Hispanic vote may be decisive. And Barack was beaten by Hillary two to one among Hispanics, and between these two largest of America's minorities, rivalry and tension are real and rising.

Barack must hold Michigan and Pennsylvania and pick up Ohio or Virginia. Yet, his weakness among Southern and working-class whites and women is remarkable. By two to one they rejected him.

After his string of primary and caucus victories in February, Barack proceeded to lose Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, then West Virginia by 41, Kentucky by 35, Puerto Rico two to one and South Dakota by 10. That last one Barack was supposed to win.

The longer the campaign went on, the more reluctant Democrats seemed to be to embrace his nomination.

What is Barack's problem?

Middle America knows little about him, and much of what they know they do not like. When West Virginians were asked what they knew about Barack, a plurality said the Rev. Wright was his pastor. In Pennsylvania, a goodly slice of Democrats knew Barack had said they were "bitter" about being left behind and were clinging to their bigotries, Bibles and guns.

By June, resistance to Barack's nomination in the party that he now leads was extraordinary, stemming from a belief that he is too naive to be commander in chief in wartime and too far left, and does not like or understand Middle America or its values.

"He is not one of us."

And if Barack cannot erase this hardening perception in the American mind, he will not be president.

Democrats may talk of making the economy the issue this fall, but Republicans are going to make Barack the issue. Story line: We cannot entrust our beloved America, in a time of war, to this radical and exotic figure who has so many crazy and extremist associates.

Barack's problem is thus Reagan's problem.

As the country wished to be rid of Jimmy Carter in 1980, so the nation today wishes to be rid of Bush and his Republicans. But America is apprehensive over a roll of the dice, in Bill Clinton's metaphor.

How did Reagan ease the anxiety? In the debate with Carter, he came off as conservative, yes, but also traditional, mainstream, witty and the more likable man. The real Reagan came through.

With his persona, Barack may be able to do the same -- in the debates. The problem is that he had two dozen debates with Hillary and, by the end of the primary season, five months after it began, he was still losing ground.

Barack Star, or Obamanation
I make it a point never to listen to politicians, thus avoiding the Obama "charisma factor" which can seriously interfere with making rational judgments about them. I understand a lot of impressionable people are quite taken with this young, inexperienced yet charismatic person. This should be of great concern - except that on election day a great in a judicial dictatorship. many of them will be sleeping in, hung over, or too stoned to care. I don't worry about the election as much as some of my friends, because for one thing there is almost no difference between the two Senators, and for another, we are living under a judicial dictatorship, and it is of almost no consequence who heads the executive branch of government in a judicial dictatorship.

More delusions from the megalomaniac
Poor sap, he just can't get his facts right.

Get this, from Thomas Sowell--

Sorry about the nonworking link, but it copies and pastes nicely into your browser.

Doc: In that case...
...who selects the judges may make some difference, no?

And yes, since you are I are both from CA, we understand judicial dictatorships.

Too black..or too white..?
This is what I am hearing from some of the African pundits. That Barack will have to appeal to the blacks by showing his ethnicity, while at the same time entertaining the white vote with the more proper use of the English language.
Trouble is...Barack has no idea about the "streets".. He has no concept of the "hood" or "ghetto life". As a result, the African pundits feel Barack must prove that he is "black" enough for the Africans to show that he feels their pain...sound familiar?
To be anything to all voters... I believe someone else has used this idea before. It is called "compartmentalizing. So much for integrity...

Comparisons...
... to JFK & Reagan are a bit overblown. I have seen nothing from Obama except carefully scripted speeches... certainly nothing off-the-cuff-witty or -humorous. Instead... arrogance, a lack of civility & ungraciousness.
Hardly Kennedy-esque, or Reagan-esque.

PS -- Biden can't see past his hair implants.

Republicans- make Barack the issue
Republicans are going to make Barack the issue?Well I hope so, Johnny boy doesn't seem to be making it one. John McCain is buying into the Obama camps 'off limits' mantra. For a few years now I was determined never to vote for McCain again. But this Obama and his wife and followers scare me like no other.
Both the Senators are Big Government fans, believe the Constitution is outdated and that Constitutional rights are something government gives us.

We are in for a ride. I guess I will have to vote for the less dangerous Progressive/nanny stater because I am bitterly clinging to my guns and God. That and I am not muslim. JFK? Remember, he barely won. In 1960 and while alive he was not universally loved except by the dead voters in Chicago.
Now learn our new Pledge of Alligence:
G-D Damn AmeriKKK of A!

McCain = Disaster / Obama = Death Wish
Or the proverbial "between a rock and a hard place".. and, "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn"!
Every people have the government they deserve and America is no exception.
Our current youth (and most politicians) are, by far, among the most screwed up in the world and, by international standards, dumb too. Thank you trial lawyers, you won!

Obama the orator
I am at a loss as to why this man is considered to be such a great speaker. Yes, he does well reading a script, when he is not making gaffes about how many states conprise the US, etc. But has anyone listened to him when he is questioned? His inability to articulate what he is presumably thinking, his lack of knowledge on any subject you can name, and the reluctance of the press to ask any "hard questions" were the reason for the hilarious Saturday Night Live parody. The man is no orator - he is an empty suit, as he was portrayed early on in his campaign. That criticism, however, disappeared as he became the press' favorite candidate for the Presidency. Reagan was an orator, he had ideas, he had convictions, and he had a fatherly manner that endeared him to his fellow countrymen. Obama has none of the above. His assets are that he is young, reasonably good looking, and black. Hardly qualifications for being President.

George Will: Obama will crush McCain

George Will: Obama will crush McCain

Is George Will right?

HOTAIR-If, that is, he can mobilize turnout among blacks and young voters in the general election (and why wouldn’t/couldn’t he?). Two clips here, the first the bad news and the second the “good” news as Pat Buchanan fantasizes about the rise of a new conservative movement from the ashes of the Democrats’ victory and inevitable mismanagement. Let’s hope this new generation of paleocons remembers to put the blame for World War II on whom it belongs, i.e. Winston Churchill.

Dr. Fred
I too am baffled by the notion that Obama is this phenomenal orator given that he stumbles through any off the cuff scenario. I have yet to see him wield unscripted wit, while I have often seen him utter inanities as he painfully searches for words. Methinks the emperor hath no clothes.

Reagan democrats, independents.
Buchanan sums it up nicely.

While Americans DEFINITELY demand a change from the Bush years, and to that extent have an allergic reaction to anything "GOP", BHO has one heck of alot of negative baggage.

Buchanan touched on this: Wright, demonizing traditional whites as holding onto their "bigotries" in this economic downturn, apprehension over turning over the levers of power to a man with so little experience in foreign affairs.

Counterargument is, of course, that an "experienced" Bush administration(Cheney and Rumsfeld)got us into this disaster in Iraq.

You could also throw in the anemic economy, and skyrocketing gas prices that occurred during a supposedly experienced Bush administration.

Not exactly ringing endorsements for continuing the status quo.

Newsmax today has an article asserting that the Senate Democrat proposal on spending will lead to radically higher taxes for millions and millions of Americans.

BHO is on record as supporting this proposal.

Buchanan's point is valid.

BHO has the McGovernite wing of the Democrat party totally in his corner.

And blacks, of course.

But Hispanics are not in BHO's corner.

McGovernite wing of the party never won any national election.

It was totally humiliated in 1972.

Bush has lost the Reagan Democrats, but BHO has not won them over.

Whoever does well with Reagan Democrats and independents wins the whitehouse.

And McCain, even with the huge obstacles of the incompetence and mistakes of the Bush presidency, and GOP congressional corruption(both of which have sullied the GOP brandname), is poised to do fairly well among Reagan democrats and independents.

That is the way it is.

Dr. Fred
In all fairness, I would just note that he reads the heck out of a teleprompter and looks smooth while he does it.

Sidney and Hussein, Globalist Puppets
McAmnesty and Obama were chosen by the establishment media and sellout globalists because they are puppets that can be easily controlled. Neither is qualified to run a hot dog stand. Thus we are again put in the position of trying to justify voting for one of these party establishment fools. I'm writing in or going third party, because I am not going to pretend any longer. God help us all!

Want competency - promote John Kasich
He is a proven budget hawk by balancing the budget in Congress
He was instrumental in welfare reform
He would bring Ohio and Pennsylvania to the table
He has been studying taxation, health care, manufacturing and a host of other ills we need fixing.
He is young enough AND experienced
He is Christian
He believes in limited governement
He has gain executive experience since leaving Congress

Please google him if your memory hasn't been triggered by now.

We need limited government for Virginia. What does your State need?

Lisa

PS: I support Senator McCain and we need his back up man fully capable of getting the job done if McCain would but let him do what he is good at.

Second John Kasich
Lisa, I agree John Kasich is the most impressive congressman to come out of the Gingrich Contract with America Congress. But McCain is a maverick hellbent on losing, at least that's the way it seems from his current campaign.

Yep
Is it too late to get Ron Paul in?

He is spot on in his understanding of this economy and how to begin repairing it. In my opinion, the man that "gets it" deserves it.

BTW, Ron Paul is still in the race. I'm hoping for a miracle in St. Paul.

Story Book OBAMA
Shame we can't open up the real story book and see him for what he is instead of his pretty speeches.

The media...
... is getting past the Obama vs. Hillary phase of the primaries, and is now going into full "we love Obama" mode. Nonetheless, look for the MSM to spend a few months with a "will McCain actually pull this off?" spin in order to make this campaign look like a real horse race.
The American media has two unspoken priorities in an election campaign.
One, to make a close campaign of things for as long as possible, in order to keep interest and ratings up.
Two, in the end to elect Democrats.

Gary Rosen
Do you sincerely believe that Pat Buchanan hates and wants to kill Jews? If you truly believe such a libelous statement, say so overtly, and defend it.

pianogirl:
It is not too late to dump McCain. He lacks the necessary number of pledged delegates to win on the first ballot. I've repeatedly invited posters here to check out the facts, seek out their local delegates, and make sure they know they are NOT required to vote for McCain if they are un-pledged. To date, I've had but one person express interest in knowing more about the possibility of aborting McCain at the convention.

I don't know if Ron Paul could emerge as the victor in a brokered convention, but you could swing a dead cat around in an insane asylum and stand a better than even chance of hitting someone with more potential to win in November than McCain has. I don't understand why there is so little enthusiasm for ridding the party of loser McCain.

The Election is Over Already
Obama is perfect for America's audience today. He's surface appeal, imagery, no substance, fake, phony, without substance.

But that's that America today, a nation of casual observers whose reality is games shows, Survivor, American Idol, and sitcoms. Viewers are illiterate morons getting fat on their disability checks watching Oprah, Dr. Phil and Maury Povich.

So what if Obama has to read from a teleprompter, has no experience and believes there are 57 states. Americans can't tell the difference. None of them know how many states we have.

And what about "our guy", McCain. Even he endorses Hillary and Obama. He bows deeply to them just like he was forced to bow to the NVA 40 years ago. He's not going to fight.

Nope, we want the guy who's going to pay off our mortgage, feed and clothe us, bring gas down to $1/gallon, and give us back all the stuff the rich man stole from us. And it's not going to cost us a penny. We won't have to lift a finger. He'll do it all for us.

A LITTLE FACTOID
"A good reader from a teleprompter" does not mean "articulate".
And he can do it in all our 57 states!
And for knowledgeable dems, like him or Pelosi - Iraq, Iran - what a difference? ;)

mccain
Is the best thing going to ensure Obama wins.

Talking Down America
Low unemployment, low interest rates, a high rate of home ownership (despite the sub-prime mess), victory within sight in Iraq; this is bad? Yes the price of fuel is high, which is causing some inflationary pressure, but the government cannot and should not control that.

And what the polling data does not show is how many Americans think that America is headed in the wrong direction because of liberals, ie gay marriage, deficit spending and illegal immigration.

The MSM is trying its level best to talk down the economy and the mood of the nation, for the benefit of the Democrats.

The left often compares Bush to Hitler, but Hitler got better press.

JD's Son Hits a Homer
I have to agree with your stomach-wrenching assessment, borne out by the "Jay-Walking" segment of the Tonight show. The operative words are "blissful ignorance." As a life-long student of political science it's sickening.

"Nope, we want the guy who's going to pay off our mortgage, feed and clothe us, bring gas down to $1/gallon, and give us back all the stuff the rich man stole from us. And it's not going to cost us a penny. We won't have to lift a finger. He'll do it all for us."

You've just described Hugo Chavez!

Obama
My reasons for choosing the person for whom I will vote in November are many. The main ones are that I will not vote for a woman just because she is a woman. I will not vote for a black man just because he is black. gender and color are not important to me. Someone who loves my country is. As a child I was taught to choose my friends and companions carefully since I would be judged by my associations. I am frightened by the choices Obama has made. I doubt his judgment. Both Clintons have a long history of questionable behavior.

Obama and Race
Although its off limits to speak of race in the coming election, the Democrats need to consider race and its impact at the polls. With 13% black in the population, 14% Hispanic or Latin, does this constitute majority enough if the block votes as most registered voters, at 56%? Its not about racism, its more about demographics. Can a Muslim named person win an election in the United States of America now? Will political correctness enter the voters booth this fall? Can the last two decades of being in a black liberation theology based church be ignored? Is it right to have it one way for a black (actually biracial, but that doesn't serve the purpose)candidate, and not discuss these issues? There are more preferred blacks that could be president for this voter, but all impressions will be discounted as racist if we all don't get behind this black (biracial) candidate. Political correctness, non-confrontational, respect the self esteem, and avoidance of issues has come to roost this election.

Obama "May Win"?
Pat is being hopeful. Too hopeful, in my judgment.

The nearest analogy to the 2008 Presidential election is Russia, 1917.

McCain is Kerensky, to Obama's Lenin.

We know how that one turned out. Disastrously to Russia, and to the world.

buchanan
buchanan has been proven wrong or blindly prejudiced so often that i wonder why anyone would pay any attention to him for anything. , except directions on how to get to the nearest washroom after listening to him. he has a consistent record of error or nonsense stretching back for years. perhaps he is looking to establish a record for unbroken erroneous or prejudiced remarks without anything tom back them up.
i wonder if he has ever returned the hundreds of thousands of dollars he owed the FEC after he received funds to run his presidential campaugn and didnt use them up. are they still after him. last i heard it was over 4 years abd they were still trying to get it back. that was a time ago,.. maybe he got religion

squeaky cklean black man
clean buchanan? really. you believe obama being clean is something that is worth commenting about. is mccain clean? how do youknow . sniffing aroud where you dont belong again? How dare you and how dare anyone who allows a remark like that to get by without commenting on it. are you clean mr buchanan. perhaops we can have clean contest to determine who should be president . no prejudice here folks,

About Barako
Buchanan is right. BHO is not one of us,a true American.

Obama Nominated Through Duress
The Democrat party nominated Obama through the duress of a potential race riot if Hillary was to be nominated by the Super delegates. No Democrat leader thought there was any way to control Black outrage, if Obama was denied even though his popularity with the Democrat base was noticeably slipping. For a parallel check out the history of Germany in January 1933. In the last general election Hitler received only 37% of the vote, his party and his personal visage were in decline, nevertheless, his Nazi strong arm SA was rioting all over Germany. Von Hindenburg feared the turmoil and thought if Hitler were to be made Chancellor, Hitler would control the SA, and Hitler could be controlled by a strong non-Nazi Vice Chancellor. Hitler was put in power under the duress and pressures created by Ernst Rohm and Rohm's personal army the SA. Appeasement never works (that should be in our Constitution somewhere but it is not), it did not in 1933 Germany and it will not on this Democrat attempt in 2008 either.

MRCMRC
Your comment #32---Buchanan is quoting Joe Biden. Reading is enjoyable, once learned.

I, for one, am just happy
that those damned social cons have been effectively marginalized in this election cycle.

Listen, I KNOW all you republicans like to refer to the GOP as a "BIG TENT". And guess who John McCain is passionately ushering into the folds of this big tent? Disaffected Hillary Clinton voters. Independents.

John is pitching this large swath of voters with pop issues: global warming is REAL! and legislation must be written up to curb american CO2 emissions. Immigration reform. Legalize the 20 million here and let's get on with it. Suddenly John has grabbed the mantle of the eco-friendly conservative. He has described himself as a "green" candidate.

John never, ever pushes (nor seems to even mention) gay marriage, abortion, (adult) stem cell research.... all those tired issues that have fueled the so-cons rise. Issues the american public is understandably skeptical of having flagrantly displayed in their faces every election cycle.

In a way, social conservatives have made AUTHENTIC conservatives of the entire country: Keep government OUT of private lives and personal decisions. Thank you, social cons. And goodbye for the next 4 to 8 years. You're work is done.

How will Obama Win?
simply put the same way he defeated Sen. Hillary
Clinton.

He has a boatload of more money than Sen. McCain to begin with and he is ourtraising
him on funds for the general election by more than two to one.

He has put together a most resourseful & intelligent staff that adjust of the fly
and has the ability to outmanuever it's opponents.

his ground level state to state organization is well put together in locating voters and getting them out to vote.

last but not least the candidate himself.

Obama is a brilliant young politician with great instincts, tactics, acumen, to go along with his gifts as a orator and natural charisma.

Obama - 21st Century Reagan?
"How did Reagan [win]? ... he came off as conservative, yes, but also traditional, mainstream, witty and the more likable man. The real Reagan came through."

To the average American (not the bitter, hate driven, right wing nut minority) who is moderately conservative Obama comes off as witty and more likable than McCain who looks old and tired. McCain looks like he is on the verge of senility, in the sunset of his years, ready for a well desrved retirement and not elevation to the most stressful job in the world.

Watch what happens over the next few months. To get nominated Obama ran as far to the left as needed to leverage his base to vanquish Hillary. Now he will run as close to the center as he can to claim the majority he needs to pull off a victory in the electoral college. As he does so, he will be on TV and youtube packaged as "likable, witty, youthful, fresh, energectic, smart, and sensible.".

Now that's a package most Americans can be comfortable with and vote for.

MRCMRC
Your #31 has the same fault as your #32. It is not against the law to be prejudiced, it is against the law to discriminate. Love cannot be legislated. I am prejudiced against people that do not read, cannot read, do not understand what they read, but demand their right to make absurd announcements while wading in the shallow pool of self taught indignation. I am persuaded Pat Buchanan is far smarter than you.

Warrior: a question
I just read you analogy above #34 and was just wondering are you are or are you not insinuating that Sen. Barack Obama is the modern equivalent of Adolph Hitler?

if so please explain your rationale.

Obama
Pat Buchanan commented that Obama may win. My opinion is that he may not. All 3 candidates will not be able to run the USA as what the Founding Fathers intended to do. But only one (McCain) meets a very important part of the Constitution - the Second Amendment. The other two are anti-gun; they want gun control. All kinds of freedom are nothing when law-abiding citizens' guns are controlled. Press freedom, for instance, is no longer free. It's controlled by the powers-that-be, the big mainstream media, and the citizens can't do anything but agree. Furthermore, please understand that the Popular Vote winners can't be proclaimed if the members of the Electoral Commission do not like them. It happened to many like Dewey who garnered more votes than Truman but the Commision proclaimed HARRY S. TRUMAN as President. Clearly, this is DeMOCKracy in action. Ha, ha, ha! --- Roland S.B. Escalante.

Slacker
Reference your #39. Do I understand you would discriminate against a Senior Citizen seeking public office when that Senior Citizen is within his right as specified in our Constitution. You are clearly in violation of the Law. BTW once "packaged" what color ribbon do you propose for the the youthful, rested, free of senility, Obama.

ex wyominite: extreme socialist agenda?
thanks for your response..

first of all imho opinion, i find absolutely nothing about Sen. Obama or his agenda to be "extreme left/socialist" that is far right repub/con propaganda meant to scare people.

the reason the democrat party was split is because you had to very major strong candidates vying for the nomination in a dogfight of very interesting primary season that more than overshadowed that of the republicans.

McCain will not split the democratic party because he is still without a doubt a republican, albiet a moderate one who still supports a lot of conservative agenda.

the bottom line for clinton/obama demcarats is that they want victory and a democrat in the white house. that is what is going to unify the party. bottom line.

Left Angle
Ur #42. No, not in political ideology--I am persuaded Obama is a Communist/Marxist. My proof is amply contained in Obama's own words and voting record. Hitler despised Communism. The parallel with Hitler is limited to the pressures of duress leading to Obama's nomination.

warrior: a response...
I totally disagree on your determination of Obama being a Communist/marxist. I am also convinced that you see Obama as the second coming of Hitler. why dont you just admit that you think his election to potus would lead the u.s. to a similar fate to that of germany under Hitler's command.

Why I am voting against McCain
1) He is not consistent. Everything he has ever stood against it appears now that it is politically beneficial he is for. (ex. Bush tax cuts)
2) He does not belong to a church. Any christian knows that attends a church is not the same as being a devoted baptized member.
3) He is not a true conservative. He proposes tax cuts but does not suggest any means to pay for them. I think ending the billions being spent on non-compete contracts with companies such as Haliburton.
4) He appears to stubborn to be open to compromise. We can't afford to go it along anymore in our war on terror. You need to be willing to play politcs in order to be leader of the world that many see the POTUS to be.
5) I find it hard to call a man honest that cheats on his disabled wife. He married Cindy one month after divorcing the woman that was with him when he was in the POW camp.

Left Angle
Ur #45. Quote: imho opinion(redundant), i find absolutely nothing about Sen. Obama or his agenda to be "extreme left/socialist" that is far right repub/con propaganda meant to scare people.
You seek reassurance--none here. Every word from his mouth is Communist dogma. The Redistribution of wealth is a tenet of Communism, and Socialism is Communism. Remember the USSR was a Communist country--USSR stands for The Union of the Soviet SOCIALIST Republics. You are badly deluded by your own imagination and "mirror lies". No one on this board will attempt to educate you until you make some effort on your own.

exwyominite: a response...
lets get something straight..

personally I'm a democrat..you'd be surprised but on social issues, I'm more liberal and on
economic issues I'm actually more conservative.
so i think that puts me more or less left center.

this socialist/communist/marxist label you repubs/cons keep trying to pin on lib/dems is pure bs and its not going to work. It's nothing more than "scare tactics".

realistically speaking do you actually believe that obama, hillary and the democratic congress want to convert the u.s. system of government to marxism/socialims/communism?

if you believe that far right wing propaganda, I suspect you are mentally unstable because that is insane to think that way no more than the far left thinks cons want to convert the u.s. into one party fascism.

i just come in here because it's interesting to see how people on the right think. I'just say exactly what i think and i am not trying to convince anyone otherwise.

Tea leaves
Barack is demonstrating the reason presidential canditates (serious ones) should be vetted. But Barack cannot make the case for voting for McCain. His arrogant style seemed to oppose our need to know anythng about him but what he tells us.

warrior: answer this
is this is what you really think of sen. obama?

"Sen. Obama is a closet dictator, with ties to
middle east extremist such as Osama bin Laden,
al Qaeda and Hamas..He is linked an has in his background american left extremist such as William Ayers, rev.wright and Louis farakan.
He secretly has a plan to overthrow the U.S. government and convert it to a system of one party goverment Marxist socialism/communism and
installing himself as dictator. the republican party will be outlawed and all its followers will be killed or exiled."

did i get it right? yes or no?

Aphone &Skull
WoW!I see the "Idiot" population is spreading.I will make this short.Mr.Obama appeals to the well-educated,young and affluent. This demographic has no interest in "Guns".However, there is a demographic that does fit into your limited concerns. These are the young black criminals. They LOVE guns and they measure the "Blackness" of others, while leaving their own "Stupidity" unattended. These are the people, that no one wants, not even their mothers.Does this sound familiar? Most importantly they either can't vote or refuse to.Why would Mr.Obama respond to their preoccupations.Mr.Obama will not allow people with low IQ's to dictate to his campaign. So please stop trying.I suggest, that you vote for Mr.McCain...PLEASE!

Senator Obama & the No American Union
Barack Obama YOU HAVE SAID NOTHING about the N A U (SPP.GOV). You MUST know this “business deal” was done by Pres. Bush with his friend, confidant & past Pres. of Mexico, V. Fox. This quietly done "deal" was ORALLY solidified at the Bush ranch. It was never debated by the legislature or told to American citizens. We now see plans for a Super Highway, where thousands of acres of tax payer property will be confiscated through (the Kelo vs New London Court rule) eminent domain process. PRIVATE PROPERTY IS CENTRAL TO THE FREEDOM AMERICANS ENJOY. The N A U- “NAFTA Super Highway” deal negates this basic, American right to own, retain, safeguard and preserve property owned by families, in many cases, for generations. The NAU, surreptitiously done by President Bush in 2005, with NO debate or vetting by the legislature, completely disenfranchised Americans of any knowledge of or say in the matter. It is the equal of a virtual coup in surrendering U.S. sovereignty to a trilateral entity that, in the form of a N A U, could equal the European Union that dictates to the citizens of 27 European states. Senator, you need to tell American your position on preserving U.S. Sovereignty. The N.A.U., if actively denounced in your campaign, could win you the presidency. Your opponents have never talked of this vital issue - - meanwhile the Bush admin. is proceeding as thought this privately scheme is a “done deal”. American is watching, listening & waiting to see how you stand on this critical matter. P.S. House Concurrent Resolution 40 states Congressional DISAPPROVAL of the NAFTA Highway & N A U. You are NOT among the 48 COSPONSORS of the bill. Why? Ron Paul introduced H.R. 5191, prohibiting use of federal funds for N A U highway projects. Back this bill & show you support the sovereignty, independence & freedom of America.

Obama.
If Obama's CHANGE and HOPE messages resonate, he wins. No further discussion needed.

Gas Prices
I am honestly tired of people relating current gas prices to Bush and the Republicans. They have enough baggage but this is an outright demoncrats lie. Bill after bill has been brought to a vote and voted down by the demoncrats to open areas of our vast and proven oil reserves. You are paying for a demoncrats lie that has been repeated so many times the idiots believe it. High gas prices are a demoncrat problem and should be repeated over and over again.

I find this amusing
Someone drew a parallel between some of the methods used to elect Hitler and some of the methods used to elect Obama, and a liberal decided that must amount to equating Obama with Hitler! Hello! Pat Buchanan has compared Obama's charisma to Reagan's, but of course that doesn't mean Buchanan thinks they are philosophical twins. Or, as another example, I might say Obama's campaign uses methods that Romney used, without in any way ideologically equating the two.

One can argue the truth of whether or not two campaigns used the same methods. But to make the leap from discussing methodologies to saying such a discussion is tantamount to an equation of ideologies - that is really absurd. It's like saying that, because I use the same methodology to make dried fruit rolls and beef jerky, they are the same product.

The other bit of liberal absurdity - claiming Buchanan was somehow racist for quoting something that Biden said. BTW I don't think Biden meant as anything racist, either. One thing that is quite bizarre - watching well meaning Democrats, such as Biden or Ferraro, who have actively supported civil rights get accused of racism by the Obama supporters. Meanwhile, we are to overlook Rev. Wright's much more incendiary remarks. A double standard?

Pennsylvania
The political experts don't seem to agree, but Pennsylvania is far from a sure thing for Obama. He will gain a huge majority in Philadelphia, but he will be hurt in the rest of the state for three reasons: race, elitism, and guns.

TV adds 5 lbs
Remembering when the TV era in politics was launched...Nixon debated JFK.
We know the story:
by radio, Nixon won, those who watched....JFK won! TV became the new political tool!
What-with HD, Plasma, 40-50 inch mega-screens, Barack looks downright radiant- almost beautiful- next to McCain. There will be nothing subtle about exposing this contrast.
McCain's caked-on, HD-resistant, make-up...the starch to hold together 20-30 hairs, etc...
Call it what you want, ageism, mean, rude, call it anything; but don't deny the television factor.

Left Angle
Ur #53--No. It is refreshing you can admit you know some of the truth. If he tried what you describe, I would expect he would be impeached or assassinated.

Left Angle
Ur #51 Your contention is in-congruent. Social Liberalism negates economic conservatism. You cannot be both because Social Liberalism like welfare, housing subsidies, drug program, Socialized medicine, universal insurance coverage, medicare, medicaid, hotel bills for hurricane displaced people all destroy any idea of conservative economics. BTW I only listed a few of the Socialist/Communist programs proposed or currently in effect. Obama supports them all, even those I did not list.

Obama
I hope to the good lord above this country does not get obama as president. It will be a sad day for every american. Mark my words this country will go down the tube. Lets see what happens to the white folks especially. Who will be in his administration? Are the white folks going to be safe? I hope to god he is not a muslim. I shudder on that thought. A black and a muslim.

Re: Connecting current gas prices "to Bush and the republicans".

Does anyone NOT believe that our direct interventions (coyly called a "pre-emptive invasion"...which turned out to be unnecessary) in the middle east have partly destabalized the region and driven up crude oil prices? Year after year now of bombings of pipelines (most, we can all safely state, which would not have happened had we not pre-emptively invaded another's land), continuous threats of similar pre-emptive invasions directed toward Iran. Threats to Syria for aiding Iran.

WE are stirring up the destability in the middle east. Our 2 trillion dollars (+) worth of real and borrowed money to pay for this adventure has weakened the american dollar, driven inflation.

WE are the benefactors of our actions. You reap what you sow. Good intentions (invading Iraq to get rid of a dictator) are not good enough. This LONG, arduous adventure has set into motion a chain of events. YES, admit it! Bush and the republicans (& frightened dems who voted for Bush under the guise of national security) are responsible for the myriad of problems that are now (& will continue for some time) afflicting America's prosperity.

And it has all been done in vain. "Winning" this war on terror (whatever that means) will not leave us any safer. Americans will continue to be in growing danger for our perpetual intervention in middle eastern affairs.

warrior: a response
i dont consider those programs you mentioned to be "social liberlism".. you need to check your history. those programs were put in place by dems AND republicans..and they are funded year in and out by dems AND republicans.

you speak as if repubs/cons DONT have THEIR PORK BUDGET BUSTING PET PROJECTS, ETC. I beleive they are called "earmarks" and dude
repubs have just as many as dems...

I do beleive in fiscal restraint as conservatives do and I am more liberal on social issues. but that doesnt mean throwing money at every problem that comes up. matter of fact I think I might be called libertarian?..lol

my fault
i have to admit that in really goofed and i apologize to buchanan and anyonme else who o read my remarks . i am so used to reading buchanan and knowing what he is going to say that i anticipated erroneously in this case something i should not and do not make a habit of doing. i deserve all the criticism i am getting.

Obama is a Marxist.

"In America," Obama said, "we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations."

You know what "collective" means I assume.

He is also a globalist.

Obama addressed the "unemployment catastrophe" among black youth, and declared any solution "must arise from us working creatively within a MULTICULTURAL, INTERDEPENDENT, AND INTERNATIONAL ECONOMY.

He is endorsed by Brezinzski as having the right view of the US in the world...i.e. the "new world order".

“There is a need for a fundamental rethinking of how we conduct world affairs,” he added. “And Obama seems to me to have both the guts and the intelligence to address that issue and to change the nature of America’s relationship with the world”

More wisdom from Brezinzski...

Brezinzski wrote..."people, governments and economies of all nations must serve the needs of multinational banks and corporations". He dismissed the constitution as "inadequate".

"the old framework of international politics, with their spheres of influence...the fiction of sovereignty...is clearly no longer compatible with reality," and proposed "the approaching 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence could justify the call for the national constitutional convention to re-examine the nations formal institutional framework...to discuss the relevance of existing arrangements".

Obama
Obama describes his new found "Christian" faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions.

On Feb 15/08, Usama K. Dakdok, President of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry called Obama's Church and reported the following conversation: " I then asked the person who answered what I needed to do to join. She told me that I needed to attend two Sunday School classes in a row and then I would walk the aisle. I replied, "That sounds easy. One last question please. If I am Muslim and I believe in the Prophet Mohammed, peace be unto him and I also believe in Jesus, peace be unto him, do I have to give up my Islamic faith to be a member in your church? She answered: "No, we have many Muslim members in our church."

To the godless, new ager, Obama is the Messiah.

"Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

A total delusion, and they are ready to follow him off the cliff.

Good Post #47
JD's Son says: "...we want the guy who's going to pay off our mortgage, feed and clothe us, bring gas down to $1/gallon, and give us back all the stuff the rich man stole from us. And it's not going to cost us a penny. We won't have to lift a finger. He'll do it all for us."

I read the following written by a San Fran, new age type author: "Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment." Can ya believe this BS?

Obama will win in a landslide and this once great nation will get just what it deserves. Just read Obama's "economic plan", his answer to all of the country's economic problems is to increase the involvement of an all powerful central government through higher and higher taxes. And, since only 40% of our citizens pay no federal income tax, this needy group is just looking for their "free stuff". The remainder of his supporters are simply idealistic progressives enthralled by the image of this "attuned being" over any real substance. Our national epidemic of stupidity continues!

What is socialism really?
"If one understands that socialism is not a share-the-wealth program, but is in reality a method to consolidate and control the wealth, then the seeming paradox of super-rich men promoting socialism becomes no paradox at all. Instead, it becomes logical, even the perfect tool for power-seeking megalomaniacs. Communism or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite." Gary Allen

The Republic is in a perilous condition.

McCain is for the new world order also. I don't think he hates us the way Obama does. Obama and the wife don't really like America very much.

Don't make Barack the issue
Just a word of warning. Attacks towrads Obama and his wife personally will bring focus to Jurassic John's own troubled background. The circumstances of his divorce from his first wife, Keating 5, his second wife drug addiction and the cover up of her stealing from her own charity. Not to mention his rift with Goldwater and suspict land deals in Arizona. My advise stick to the issues that what people care about.

Left Angle (Reply #68) perpetuates a com
As Ron Paul keeps reminding the House of Representatives – earmarks don’t add one nickle to federal spending; the money is already appropriated (spent) before one “earmark” is designated.

This of course does not negate Left Angle’s point that Dems AND Republicans are equally big government spenders. I’m afraid that if Obama and McCain are our only choice, our children and their children are going to be left with quite a mess on their hands.

Interesting selection
of a VP candidate. John Kasich would be a great selection for McCain, as would COLIN POWELL. Both choices could give a major boost to McCain's chancing of winning in the fall.

Pull the plug on fantasy and idiocy
It would be a good thing if conservatives pulled the plug on fantasy and idiocy when it comes to attacking Obama. It should be enough for you to oppose him becaue he is a liberal Democrat. But then many of you go on and on (and on and on)to compare Obama to Osama (just think, if Osama had been named something else, this wordplay wouldn't work), Hitler, and probably to the insidious Dr. Fu Manchu (for those whose memories go way back).

Just remember: our governmental system is structured so that it is very difficult for anyone, including a president elected by a large majority, to simply take over and run things like a dictator. Now before one of you youngsters pipes up with "What about FDR?" a little reality check is in order. FDR had to deal with, and was often frustrated by, members of his own Democratic congressional majority, especially by Southern Democrats. That's why the original Social Security Act of 1935 didn't get passed in its complete form; even FDR couldn't get national health insurance through Congress--what passed was the pension system we know today.

Finally, don't assume that Obama will win. I'm a liberal Democrat, and I don't take it for granted at all. The great Republican attack machine hasn't even gotten started yet. Many voters will think that Obama is the Antichrist or worse by the time you guys are through with him.

I'm predicting a close vote, with the winner getting no more than a 2-3% margin of victory.

Ur #53--My answer to your question is. Obama is mixed race but has adopted Black to take advantage of Affirmative Action and win a state senate seat. Obama is disloyal to his Hawaiian relatives that raised him. Obama has an Afro-centric attitude which proves his bias to a segment of our society. Obama has no link to slavery, his father is Kenyan. If he has a link, it would have to be through his mother and that would have to be as an owner of slaves. Obama has no link to the Civil Rights Movement of MLK; Obama was only 2 years old when King was assassinated and he was born after Brown vs the Board of Ed. Obama was raised in Hawaii, there were no "colored" signs on toilets or water fountains there. He has never had to sit in the rear of the bus or been denied service at a lunch counter. Obama is a Muslim, he has no say in that. The Muslim religion is passed through his Father, in his schools in Indonesia he was registered by his Mother as a Muslim. He is now guilty of apostasy under Sharia Law and that offense is punishable by death. There are 1.2 billion Muslims that fully understand his status, only Americans think that will not matter when he attempts to negotiate with Muslim leaders. Obama has been bought, and paid for handsomely by his Communist mentors and idols. Obama is a Communist and his own words verify that as fact. Obama is not qualified to be President or CINC; he has no knowledge of nuclear release procedures or nuclear effects. I doubt he has any knowledge of EMP, Alpha, Beta or Gamma particles, and I feel fairly confident in saying Obama has no notion how fast the earth moves through space as it orbits the sun.

Good voice? Become a radio announcer.
There is a difference between being a good speaker and having a good speaking voice.

People, in general, aren't smart enough to evaluate whether or not Obama is a good speaker. They have had no experience hearing good speakers; I'm not sure any exist any longer. Obama has a pleasant speaking voice while some very intelligent speakers are not particularly melodious. Either you've got it or you haven't.

In spite of Obama's mello voice, his speech grates on my nerves, his sentences are always peppered with "you know" and "I mean". This coupled with his left-wing ideas cause him to sound down-right illiterate.

Warrior: bottom line..
I'm not gonna sit here and keep going back and forth with you about this because it's pointless..like I said before the bottom line is this:

If you dont like obama, then dont vote for him.

have a great day.

Ur 77 You said, "I'm a Liberal Democrat".
You are a thief, nothing you can say will change that. You desire to take my money against my will and use it as you see fit by giving it to some stranger without my permission. You want to vote my money out of my pocket. You would be well advised to ensure your vote is completely secret for if I find out you are trying to steal my money, I would have no compunction about killing you. There is no human trait I dislike more than the trait of thievery.

Warrior, that might be the dumbest post
i've ever read here. First of all, if you didn't know who Obama was and you saw him walking down the street, you wouldn't think, "oh, he's bi-racial." You'd say, he's black. Actually, the racial classifications in this country were created by WHITES who decided that having one drop of black blood in you made you black, regardless of whatever other races constituted your genetic make-up. Read your history books. Also, how is he betraying his "Hawaiian relatives that raised him?" The man doesn't even have Hawaiian relatives. He lived there with his white grandparents. Also, MLK was assassinated in 1968. Obama was born in 1961. I guess in Alabama, that equals two years. and, i'm not even going to discuss the "Obama is a Muslim, he has no say in that" dumba$$ comment...

Left Angle
Ur #83. You are wrong it is not pointless. The point is you will vote for a Communist who intends to take my hard earned money against my will and give it another citizen to buy power. You are a thief and I despise thieves. You intend to vote my money out of my pocket and I want you to understand: Keep it secret for the rest of your life because if I or my family suffer any hardsahip due to your thievery and I know who you are, you will be in severe danger. I firmly believe I am not alone in my adamant refusal to let you steal my money or change my country. I have been anti-communist for more than 50 years and I fought them for 2 years in Viet Nam and looked them in the eye for 26 years of active Army service. We are on opposite sides in our own home and it is you that has sided with the enemy.

Ira
I agree somewhat, but Obama is biracial. I am unsure if he claims to be black or not, but if so that is turning his back on his white heritage and it was his white mother that raised him, not his African father that walked out on him and his mother and being raised in Hawai'i, he would have not suffered the amount discrimation you'd have found elsewhere.

As for the other claims Warrior made, mostly nonsense. He is not a Muslim, but he did associate himself for many years with a Afro-centric, perhaps even racist church.

He is not a communist, but he is a hard left socialist such as you'd find in say northern Europe.

As for the nuclear issues and other issues Warrior brought up...well pretty much nonsense.

Warrior what are you talking about
" I doubt he has any knowledge of EMP, Alpha, Beta or Gamma particles, and I feel fairly confident in saying Obama has no notion how fast the earth moves through space as it orbits the sun."
What dose this have to do with anything. Suggestion lay off the pipe.

He might want to strength his support with the Radical Right b/c once hillary supporters find out that he is prolife, has voted against all bills supporting womens rights and not to mention the cruel Chelsea Clinton joke at a fundrasiers in 1992.
" Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Becuase her mother is Janet Reno."

Ira
Ur #85 Obama spent his formative years in Hawaii and went to High School there, he lived with his Grand parents. In my family Grand parents are relatives. The old Wade Crow rules are no more applicable than slavery laws. Maybe in Ira's house you still cling to them. If I passed Obama on the street I would not know with any assurance he was Black. My guess would be mixed, if I was in the US. If I was in the Middle East, I would think he was one of the majority there. I would not rule out Polynesian, Indian, or a plethora of other dark people. In America people of mixed race can choose their race but it would be more normal to select mixed or even white if you lived most your life with your white relatives. I refer there to my understanding of the word relative. In my message you take offense to, change the "2" to a "7". You may be offended by facts but to a Muslim, which his African family is, Obama is Muslim by definition and the scriptural teachings of Muhammad. Since Muhammad has been dead for almost 1400 years, it is doubtful you or Obama can change his teachings. Do your homework Ira, you are grasping at straws.

Warrior
Warrior may be somewhat direct in his comments, but his basic point that Obama and the Democrats are little more than common thieves in their desire to play Robin Hood is right on. We are already taxed more than enough and will rebel if pushed further. Descendants of slaves now want to enslave us to support them, all under the cover of "democracy." Just because Obama wins does not mean that we will work for the plantation master.

GTJOHNS
ur #88 If Iran fires a nuclear tipped missile at Israel, the Electro-Magnetic Pulse could limit our capability to find out information and make a proper response. Depending on the fireball touching the ground and inducing gamma radiation or whether the weapon was an air burst limiting gamma radiation will dictate our need to help evacuate people to safer areas and the make up of our response teams. An understanding of nuclear effects will determine what other countries and people may be effected by fall-out. These are timely subjects and your lack of knowledge of nuclear weapons is not the yardstick by which we should make judgements.

warrior: it is pointless.
because you have one vote and i have one vote
we both can vote for whomever we want to be potus. obviously you dont like obama so dont vote for him. I think he is gonna do a great job if elected prez so I'm gonna vote for him.

if it makes you feel better to come in here and rant against him, call him names, talk about his momma and daddy...so be it. knock yourself out. it doesnt change the fact that this man has a 50/50 chance to become the next potus.

Strange, strange set of criteria. Jimmy Carter knew all that stuff; heck, *I* know all that stuff. Reagan, Bushs, Nixon, McCain -- not a one of them would know the difference between an alpha particle and a helium atom. I'll bet Reagan wasn't entirely clear that the Earth DOES orbit the Sun. And W. may know, but doesn't care.

An enduring suspension of reality
That America can embrace a man who blatantly said in one of his books that he will be on the side of the Muslims if things begin to get nasty is a complete suspension of reality and American patriotism. Obama has exhibited no patriotism, no sense of Americanism. He is an untested, untried and unaccomplished biracial political anomoly. He definitely is no Ronald Reagan, and certainly no John Kennedy. The very idea of naming Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg as one of three members of his VP search panel tantamount to his wearing of a lapel pin that says he's the new JFK. What in bloody hell does Caroline know about vice presidential politics? Of all the Kennedy offspring, she is the most nonpolitical and private of them all. Obama is a charlatan and a fraud. He is a socialist, and a radical, and a Muslim-leaning, Black Liberation Theology Christian. He knows nothing of the US Military, nothing of war, nothing of having to work for a living. He got his home with fraud-tainted money from Rezko, started his political run with friends like the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers & wife, and listened in rapt harmony to the white-hating and female-hating rantings of Wrignt and Fhlegle for decades. He is a product of his radical associations and must be called out on this. WHY does America allow his to dismiss all this as just distraction? Spouting HOPE and CHANGE without substance or specifics is the real distraction, and his BS rhetoric is just that - BS! I'm no fan of McCain, but Obama must be stopped before he has the chance to bring an end to America as we know it.

Warrior - Obama Lacks it
"he has no knowledge of nuclear release procedures or nuclear effects. I doubt he has any knowledge of EMP, Alpha, Beta or Gamma particles, and I feel fairly confident in saying Obama has no notion how fast the earth moves through space as it orbits the sun."

At least I'm confident that Barry can read a script and preach a good sermon. But, he still doesn't know that we only have 50 states. Since he seems to like nuclear energy, one would think he would at least know what Hanford is.W In May, when asked by a voter in Pendleton Oregon if he was in favor of full funding for Hanford, he acknowledged that he didn't even know what Hanford was despite the fact that he has voted on 3 bills which dealt with the cleanup of the worse nuclear waste dump in US since the creation of the nuclear bomb in 1945. The biased press got him selected as the democratic nominee by telling only positive stories about him 83% of the time and Hillary Clinton 53% of the time. The liberal press has found him to be their favorite and they will do whatever it takes to get him selected- I mean elected.

Sen. Obama & the North American Union?

How Obama Won - and May Win
When are we going to stop perpetuating racism by using divisive and anachronic qualifications/adjectives/classifications on ourselves? "Asian American", "African American", "Hispanic", "Irish American", Italian American", "Anglosaxon American", "Native American", "Latino", "Paleface"... Are we not all "US citizens" or, by extension simply "American" (not that our brothers south and north of the border are not American, too; they certainly aren't Asian or African!)?
