Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

It was said behind closed doors to the chablis-and-brie set of San Francisco, in response to a question as to why he was not doing better in that benighted and barbarous land they call Pennsylvania.

Like Dr. Schweitzer, home from Africa to address the Royal Society on the customs of the upper Zambezi, Barack described Pennsylvanians in their native habitats of Atloona, Alquippa, Johnstown and McKeesport.

"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and ... the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them.

"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

This is the pitch-perfect Hollywood-Harvard stereotype of the white working class, the caricature of the urban ethnic -- as seen from the San Francisco point of view.

As Linus clung to his security blanket, Barack is saying, out-state Pennsylvanians, bitter at the world that has passed them by, cling to their Bibles and guns and naturally revert to ancestral bigotries against "people who aren't like them" -- blacks, gays and immigrants.

Though he sees himself as a progressive who has risen above prejudice, Barack was reflecting and pandering to the prejudice of the class to which he himself belongs, and which he was then addressing.

A few months back, Michelle Obama revealed her mindset about America with the remark that, "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country." Barack has now revealed how he, too, sees the country. The Great Unifier divides the nation into us and them.

The "us" are the privileged cosmopolitan elite of San Francisco and his Ivy League upbringing. The "them" are the folks in the small towns and rural areas of that other America. Toward these folks, Obama's attitude is not one of hostility, but of paternalism. Because time has passed them by, Barack believes, they cannot, in their frustration and bitterness, be held fully accountable for their atavistic beliefs and behavior.

Though neither mocking nor malicious, Barack's remarks are, nonetheless, steeped in condescension. Inherent in his words is that these folks in Middle Pennsylvania are in need of empathy, education, assistance and perhaps therapy.

His remarks are of a piece with his address on civil rights that liberals have compared favorably to Lincoln's Second Inaugural.

Note, from that Philadelphia address, the highlighted words.

"Most working- and middle-class white Americans don't feel that they have been particularly privileged by their race ... as far as they're concerned, no one's handed them anything. ... They ... feel their dreams slipping away ... opportunity comes to be seen as a zero sum game, in which your dreams come at my expense.

"Anger over welfare and affirmative action helped forge the Reagan Coalition. Politicians routinely exploited fears of crime for their own electoral ends. Talk show hosts and conservative commentators built entire careers unmasking bogus claims of racism while dismissing legitimate discussions of racial injustice and inequality as mere political correctness or reverse racism."

In Barack's mind, black anger and resentment at "racial injustice and inequality" are "legitimate." But the anger and resentment of white folks, about affirmative action, crime and forced busing are born of misperceptions -- and of "bogus claims of racism" manipulated and exploited by conservative columnists and commentators to keep the racial pot boiling and retain power, so the right can continue to do the bidding of the corporations that are the real enemy.

Barack has stumbled into the eternal failing of the left-wing populist. He cannot concede that the anger of white America -- that its right to equal justice has been sacrificed to salve the consciences of guilt-besotted liberals -- is a legitimate anger. The truth that Barack dare not speak is that reverse discrimination is pandemic and that the folks in Middle Pennsylvania have a valid grievance that ought to be addressed.

So, Barack sought in Philadelphia to redirect their anger.

"(T)hese white resentments distracted attention from the real culprits of the middle class squeeze -- a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many."

Barack is not wrong here. Corporations, out of naked greed, have deserted America. And the Clinton and Bush administrations have been unresponsive to the social impact of deindustrialization. But Barack cannot concede that white Americans are today's victims of state-sanctioned racism.

A gifted candidate, Barack, after stumbling for 48 hours, has regained his footing with his witty ripostes about Hillary being "Annie Oakley" with her "six-shooter," spending her Sunday mornings "out on the duck blind."

Obama's remarks about small-town America told us little about small-town America, but a lot about Barack. He is yet another cookie-cutter liberal who has absorbed and internalized the prejudices of that blinkered breed. He is an African-American John Lindsay, the great liberal hope of the Nixon-Agnew era, of whom Frank Manckiewicz once said: He was the only populist he knew who played squash every day at the Yale Club.

am I first?
thank you, Mr. Buchanan, for neatly summing up what lots of us suburban, religious, gun-rights-supporting, typical white people are "feeling." And for putting your finger right on what makes some of us so angry about obama's attitude. He refuses to concede that reverse racism exists and he doesn't see that for every guilt ridden vocal white person, there are three silent angry ones.

reverse racism?
Why do they call it that? What is reverse of racism? To me its not racism. Maybe we should just call a black kettle a black kettle. Plain and simple...racism.
I am a 50 year old grandmother, I hunt, fish, read my bible and I smoke a pipe on occasion (especially if they have the tobacco on sale). I was a single mother and managed quite well to feed my family. Am I angry about what has happened to my country? Yes I am and I teach my grandchildren everyday what is real and what is not real in this world.
I still say O hussy reminds me of Howdy Doody...Charolette

Obama's TWO hypocrisies
There are actually TWO separate hypocritical claims at work in Obama's statement:

1. Economics is supposed to take precedence only over CONSERVATIVE hot-button issues (which are considered a "crutch" and a "distraction"), not LIBERAL hot-button issues:

If an peace activist chooses to support a candidate solely on the issue of the alleged immorality of war, that's considered "idealistic" and "dedicated." But if a pro-life activist chooses to support a candidate solely on the issue of the alleged immorality of abortion, that's just a "distraction" from the "real" issue which should be economic class struggle.

2. It's OK for a liberal to vote against his economic self-interest but not anyone else:

If a wealthy San Francisco liberal chooses to vote for an anti-business liberal candidate who promises to raise his taxes, that shows he's "idealistic" and "puts the country first." But if a working-class guy in Ohio or Pennsylvania chooses to vote for a pro-business conservative who will lower his taxes, that shows he's "bamboozled" into "voting against his best interest."

How can this be? It's because modern liberals are convinced that only they have a claim on a superior morality. Anything they do, even vote for a candidate who will act against their best interest, is moral; anything that anybody else does contrary to that is less moral or immoral.

I am angry
About an idiot like Obama in the running for the White House job.

That place is beginning to attract the most shallow people politics can produce.

He goes to a church with a bigot preacher for 20 years, has a wife that can only be proud of America, if her husband gets recognition, sees whites as unthinking emotional small town hicks, and thinks the Reagan coalition can be summed up as some herd of idiots.

And this man is a uniter?
For who?
I find everything about him to be repulsive, which hardly unites anyone but other bigots just like him.

A bit of a contradiction Mr. Bucannan
First you say: "He cannot concede that the anger of white America -- that its right to equal justice has been sacrificed to salve the consciences of guilt-besotted liberals -- is a legitimate anger."

Then you say: "a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many.

Barack is not wrong here. Corporations, out of naked greed, have deserted America. "

Thank you. You have integrity to admit that. But your paymasters call you back at the end of your screed: "He is yet another cookie-cutter liberal who has absorbed and internalized the prejudices of that blinkered breed."

No, as you said, he is not wrong and he is the most intelligent man we have seen in a very long time even come close to the fair mindedness of Washington or the passion for justice of Lincoln or Jefferson.

Obama's true colors
Hi, I'm Joe from Podunk, Ohio and I'm a neanderthal. My cold dead fingers (threshing accident) are constricted in a death grip around the trigger guard of my favorite deer rifle "Betsy."

My left hand clutches a family Bible which I'll read one day when I get my GED.

Oh yes.. and I'm very, very bitter toward obnoxious political twits who try to psychoanalyze and patronize me and my fellow rural dwellers. Ignorance and arrogance, thy name is Obama.

NObama in '08

Propaganda Central
Gee, I wonder if it was just accidental that you feature a picture of Obama "Dividing America."

Really?

Trughes.... What???
Propaganda? How about explaining your cryptic statement. This isn't the Daily Kos.

If you can't see it...
This is not the Daily Kos, because these columnists are "syndicated". Ever hear the word? That means they are spread throughout the entire United States through the Corporated media. Do you have any idea how limited the number of news sources are through the rural areas of this country? Very limited. But these conservative columnists are syndicated through every single one of those newspapers. That is what you call propaganda. How many liberals do you think are so widely syndicated.

Specifically, what I was referring to, maybe you don't get the same banner ads I do, but for about two weeks there's been an ad for Townhall magazine with the headline Dividing America get your free copy. That is called propaganda. It is introducing an idea that weak minds can't resists. Obama is "dividing America".

Get the idea.

The plain truth is...
Obama made those comments when he was surrounded by fellow travelers, so he got too comfortable and forgot to censor himself. The result: his true feelings came out, and many people recognize this is exactly what he believes (just like Shrillary, of course).

So now we see him in full damage control mode, and I have to admit he's slick...like a greased firepole.

"Slick Willy" is taken. Anybody know a synonym for "slippery" that goes well with "Obama?"

will not post
So, where IS Barack wrong? Has Fox/Pravda been explaining the situation well? Is it really the immigrants that are stealing the jobs, those Pennsylvania poor could have gotten, picking grapes, pruning vineyards of a freezing morning and underpaid, or cleaning hotel rooms for minimum wage? Or is it corporate America, off-shore-ing their profits and even Social security, as we recently heard from Steigenburger from Steigliz, about Halliburton?

Where is he wrong? You say it yourself "corporate greed," but don't forget corporate welfare, passing laws to let Enron shut down plants and raise the cost of electricity.

Barak is right to say the middle of America "clings to their guns", with one conservative newspaper and Fox News pandering to their fears. It has always been true that those with limited inputs are more susceptible to fear-mongering. It is undeniable that the national news of Fox News tells Americans that they have to be afraid. That's why people who live in the backcountry are considered less well informed than the "chabils-and-brie" set. When people are less informed, they are more susceptible to fear.

If we had laws, like we used to, that prohibited biased newscasting, if Walter Cronkhite could still get a job, then those people might be better informed, they might fear less, and they might not feel their right to have a gun is their most important right.

Have you ever asked a gun-rights advocate why he wants his gun? Because he's afraid !!! But, why are the people in the rural areas more scared than the people living in cities? There's less danger. It's because they are victims of fear-mongering.

The gun-rights people feel they have to defend themselves, when that should be what a decent government does. Do Europeans feel the need to go to bed with a gun at their side? No.

In that regard, Barak is right.

I don't know what is wrong
this site won't post a continuation of my first posting:

summary: Barak is right. Whether you like to hear it or not, some parts of this country are fearful and are kept thay way by Fox/Pravda. Be afraid, the government is coming to get you. And guess what. People are un-willing to give up their guns. Out of fear. Which is only ignorance.

Fox and these syndicated columnists promote fear.

Let us not forget
Obama lets his true attitude toward religion show here-- to him religion, at least the fundamentalist kind practiced by whites, is a crutch, something bitter and desperate little people "cling to."

And what does he lump "religion" in with, as things we small-minded white common folk clutch at and cling to? Guns, religion and bigotry-- which he calls "antipathy" toward people who aren't like us.

This member of a "liberation theology" cult is no respectful or even tolerant advocate of religion. To him it is the Marxist "opiate" that hobbles the common man.

It's not so much his condescention toward the common white man that galls me, it's the way he tucks "religion" in with guns and bigotry, a triad of issues Barack holds in great distaste, contempt-- and, if he has a grain of sense, more than a little fear.

This is the first time his nasty rancorous racist attitude has "pierced the veil" of his secrecy and reticence to show himself, or open himself to the give-and-take of a spontaneous interview.

But his true colors clash too loudly with the blandness he cloaks himself in-- it won't be the last time they glare through. By November this guy will be a glaring contradiction of all he has heretofore pretended to be. The Dems are painted into a corner and will nominate him, and he will be their biggest disaster since-- well, their biggest ever.

Let's hope the Dems' Congressional candidates get tainted in the process, and their laughable failed attempt to govern the Legislative Branch comes to an end in 2008 as well.

Pst trughes, your ignorance is showing
You don't seem to know much about rural America. My local newspaper is CORPORATE OWNED and features liberal columnists almost exclusively. Ellen Goodman, Maureen Dowd etc. are much more widely circulated than conservative columnists. It's evidently part of a program to "enlighten" those of us living in the sticks.

Also, we rural people don't own guns because we're scared. In our area break-ins are very rare because the criminals are SCARED because they know we have guns. None of my friends even locks his door at night. Now that's fear!

You obviously don't know a single thing about rural America which is why you agree with Barack. You two are united in ignorance.

Buck
I'm looking forward to you Keystoners giving Barack the middle digit on election day.

It's Not Just Politics . . .
. . . in terms of British TV comedies, the "cosmopolitan San Francisco-type elites" more prefer "Monty Python's Flying Circus" (a product, after all, of Oxbridge-educated elites), while the masses more preferred the "populist"-oriented Benny Hill. I can attest that the "elite" types not only harbor a contempt for Mr. Hill (though he's been dead 16 years) and his show, but for fans thereof (claiming that not only were he and his show allegedly "sexist," but so are his fans), and look down condescendingly upon those who supposedly don't "get" Python's so-called "humor" (though the fact that the liberal elite media gives that show its seal of approval is but a small hint that that show projected a liberal-left socio-political agenda), claiming that such people are somehow morally and intellectually inferior.

A HOUSE DIVIDED CANNOT STAND ! ?
BARACK OBAMA is divided and torn within himself. First of all, his liberal white mother joined something like the peace corp and eventually got pregnant by one of the locals in Kenya who she married. Eventually, the father left Obama and his mother to pursue his own interests. What a love affair??? Meanwhile, back in America the mother dies and he is raised by his liberal white grandparents who are apparently not liberal enough as Obama recounts the utterings of his grandmother while encountering some black youths along her path while on her way walking back home. Obama himself is a torn man...he can never unite America because he himself is at odds with himself otherwise he would not have made such profound idiotic racist and elitist statements. Whats even more funny and interesting about this whole thing is that it appears to be more elitist than racist.

Again, we must consider the Liberal upbringing of Obama and his further brainwashing while at Harvard University. Indeed, whether Obama likes it or not...he has finally absorbed some of the teachings in the sermons by Reverend Wright. He will not admit it but those same sermons with seeds of Farrakhan have been implanted into Obama's psyche.

Jimmy Hoffa had better think twice before he and his teamsters endorse Obama. Obviously, Obama has no empathy for working class America. Obama has no empathy for Main street. Its all about Wall street! Main street America need not apply!
Its all about big cities! Main street America need not apply! Its all about cheap illegal workers and socialist programs for poor blacks and hispanics! Main street America need not apply but rather can rot in Hades along with their hunting rifles and Bibles....at least..according to the Obama Message!

Obama's view
Senator Obama is condescending to the middle class Pennsylvanian. I have my doubts as to the bitterness, these Americans are supposed to have and I base it on What I THINK, using the same logic that he uses. Most of them are probably white and have suffered as much as most of this country has in loss of jobs to outsourcing, but like their forefathers they probably have found other ways to compensate for this and have not looked to the Federal Government to subsidize them as was the case in New Orleans after the great storm. As to guns and religion, we all need to own one and practice our faith in the good times and the bad.

Obama: Full of Hubris
Obama has even started sounding like Hillary did when she first started running for president on the View....he now says: When I become President!

Kind of presumptuous at this stage of the game don't you think?

Shilling from media won't save Obama
What is amazing is a recent Gallup poll I read in which, even after Obama's condescending comments about white small-town America, the poll showed little or no defection in support, even among non Democrats. Obama defeats McCain in this poll.

I think the poll is a joke.

I believe Rasmussen has a more reliable poll, which indicates McCain defeating either Hillary or Obama.(By the way, I am no fan of McCain. I fear he may swig the same slop as the neocons, with their snouts in the trough. I desperately hope we undergoes a moment of clarity, and rejects this swill). That said, given the alternatives, I probably will end up supporting him.

On Obama, the Wright association, coupled with the earlier insulting remarks by Michelle Obama in "at last" being proud of her country, along with Obama's insult to small-town America, has doomed any chance he can win the presidency.

But with media shilling for Obama, and the input of leftist democratic party primary voters, it is still likely he will garner the nomination.

This Dog Won't Hunt
Thanks to Barack Obama Americans can see the true face of the Democrat Party. It's an elitist organization captained by Ivy League graduates, inheritors of fortunes, who grandiloquently toss scraps to the common working men and women.

True, Obama is a minority American but a very privileged minority American as a result of legislation sponsored by very affluent and privileged Democrats. Maybe the gun-toting, church-going Pennsylvanians will wake up and realize what a rotten deal their party offers them--tossing them scraps from the table but behind their backs, dismissing them as ignorant hicks.

Democrats, rank and file, whether white or black, should wake up and realize they are all on the reservation and it's the elitist millionaires who are running the country and tossing them occasional tidbits from the national table in pseudo payment for their unquestioning loyalty to a party that has lost its way.

The Never-Ending Conversation...
About race. I don't know about you, but I've had more than enough (long ago).

This nation was broken over slavery (about 800K dead as I recall) but fought through that hell, fought through the repeal of Jim Crow, Brown vs. BOE, and enactment of civil rights laws.

Those bills have been paid.

Blacks are now equal citizens, and have the same opportunities for success as everyone else. Whether they succeed or fail depends largely on their personal initiative, talent, choices, and work ethic. And that is a cold hard fact.

Endless discussion ad nauseum about every conceivable issue through some kind of warped prism of ill perceived racial relevance is idiotic and counter-productive.

Enough already.

I'm with the lower class
trhughes, I like venison and fried snakes because I was introduced to them by people of a social class that people like Obama scorn. Also, it isn't true that Europeans are all anti-gun. The Swiss keep theirs at home, and until fairly recently at least, could carry them to the polls.

Maybe, when Calvinist Christianity was strong (shared by the Scots Irish who settled Western PA), people could trust each other. Modern social democracy (I won't dignify it by the word "liberalism", which means honoring liberty) needs people divided into antagonistic classes the way fish need water.

Thanks trughes
Most folks that post here are so brain washed they will never understand what you so truthfully articulate.
I am so disgusted with Pat Buchanan at his reverting
to typical GOP talking points. I spent countless
hours in two parties working for his campaigns.
I guess you are right, his paymasters control his opinions.
What they will never admit is that the so-called Reagan democrats decide the elections or could swing the election. Howard Dean knew this and got more moderate democrats to run and will in 06. It is too bad that a populist like Lou Dobbs or Brian Schweitzer could not get a shot at the presidency.
But, the big boys who pull the strings get a stooge
they can control.
Barack Obama is my senator. He is to the left of me in many things, but he is telling the truth on some basic issues. I do not think McCain has a change to beat him, considering how Bush has destroyed the Republican party. We could do much better with a true man of the people, but one will not be on the ballet.

Never-Ending Conversation About Racism
It may never be ended. It certainly showed up in the racial black church attended by Obama. He wants to have an open discussion about racism - to try to end such discussion. Okay with me but lets get the field leveled first. Stop all "equal" rights which have been bestowed on those other than whites. Affirmative action, court made laws and interpretations of the Constitution, etc. get a temporary repeal or 10-year hold while we sort out racism.

posts are informative
It is such a treat for the peasant class that I am a member of to be able to read efforts by trughes to "enlighten" us. He is actually doing a fine job of showing us what we can expect if one of his ilk (Obama) ascends to the presidency. Lets all hope that trughes continues his fine work, we small minded illeterate souls truly appreciate his benevolence.

Boutte:
I read your piece and understand your sentiments. When I was a young boy,I'm 58 years old,the USA was 85-90% white European. We openly celebrated our culture. I was born into a white, lower middle-class home in NYC but I revered my fellow Americans who lived all across this great nation...rural, suburban and all.I longed to see all of my country, and I eventually did.
Though I am Jewish,(I was stung by your "smart jew"
comment), I could understand where you were coming from. Jews are not the monolith that Blacks are, and are changing to the right gradually. Know this:
I am proud of my religion but I love my country with no reservations. I know America is a Christian nation and a land of constitutional law that protects my freedoms.... Anyway, many of those "smart jews" got thrown under the bus way before Bill and Hill and Geraldine.
I am not ashamed to openly admit I prefer the white European culture to all the others. I respect other cultures....but prefer our own.

That was refreshing
Thanks Jeepers.

Bitter in Pittsburgh
When Obama refers to Pennsylvanians clinging to guns and religion, he is really complaining that we enjoy and cherish our protections under the First and Second Amendments. Really, for all the effort that modern liberalism has made to take away our freedoms, at least Ol' numbers 1 & 2 are still there.

Yes the libs want to tie religion and guns into knots, if possible. But for all the effort, we can still live our faith and keep Old Blue Steel in the closet. Hint for Obama --- "It goes back to the Whiskey Rebellion." But I'm sure that you missed that during your education at Columbia & Harvard. The Whiskey unpleasantness is the most under-appreciated event in US history.

OBama's Numbers Plunging in PA
The trend was already set, but recently Obama did make up some lost ground to Hillary in Pa. However, a poll completed Sunday has shown that Obama's numbers are taking a nose dive in Pa. This was an internal DNC poll, and was not extrapolated to the entire nation. The DNC knows the game is up. I can imagine desperation is setting in. Either Hillary drops out soon, or McCain will win in Novemeber. Here is why:

1)Obama can expect heavy turn-out by Blacks in November. This is a plus. He can also expect to carry University towns, as well as far left districts. However, in the deep South, Rust Belt, Plains States, and Mountain States his support is shallow

2)Hillary cannot get her national negative ratings about 48%. If she is nominated, black turn out will be low, the so-called Independents and Moderates will more than like vote McCain, as will White Males, the Deep South, and Mountain States. Over-all high Democratic voter turn-oout we've seen this primary season will be negated; not even the Dems like her.

Essientially the Dems are split racially, ethnically, and by gender. As time passes, the divisions grow. Both candidates are negating the middle as they fight for the that sliver called the Far Left -thus making McCain's job all the easier.

Even if one of them wins -it will be a very narrow victory; not the trifecta (60 Seat filibuster proof Senate, 50 seat House pick-up) that Pelosi, Dean, and Reed have come to expect the last 12 months. The Dems would find themselves in the same position Bush found himself in 2001; Powerless to enact an agenda, and presiding over a part with deep cracks.

Upbeat in Berks County PA
Berks County PA is very much the type of place Obama is talking about. Unfortunately, when he visited here, the only person he talked to was the Peace Corps veteran, old-style lefty Mayor of Reading. The only place he visited was a downtown greasy spoon frequented by newspaper reporters and other low-lifes. His visit was a photo-op and was not announced in advance.

If Obama had visited the real Berks County, small towns like Oley and Womelsdorf and Birdsboro and Sinking Spring, then he would have found people who were upbeat rather than bitter, willing to work hard for a living, too proud to take welfare, and resentful of a nobody like him trying to psychoanalyze them. The old-style manufacturing jobs may be gone, but they have been replaced by other higher-value jobs.

Sure the people have guns, but not because they are bitter. They have guns because it is their Second Amendment right, whether for hunting, target shooting, collecting, self-defense, or ultimately to form a militia to resist an overbearing government.

Pennsylvania went for both Gore and Kerry by relatively small margins. Almost any Democrat would win here this year, except perhaps Hillary and Obama. McCain has a good chance to carry Pennsylvania (and Ohio) against Obama, and it is difficult to find enough electoral votes for Obama if this happens.

Buck, Fight4right, Jerseyvet
Me and my family, once hearing of Rev. Wright and understanding our GOP nominee was already chosen before we even had a vote, registered Democrat to vote for Hillary as PA has closed primaries.

Everyday we are more at peace with our decision because everytime Obama opens his mouth, more racist crap drops out. Most of us rural hicks are angry as hell and looking forward to 4/22 when we can give Obama a black eye and a forceful middle finger. Philly will come out for Obama, but I know my town won't. We despise Obama as much as Obama, his Pastor, his wife, his party, and his church despise us.

As far as guns, every household owns one. Crime is almost non existant here. And our kids are safe and never injure themselves with the guns we own, unlike those kids in the city.

Boutte
Good one. Many think it, but few will say it.

In Darkest Pennsylvania
Mr. Obama should forget his roots and listen to the American people. Anyone with an ounce of discernment at all will understand that our nation's welfare is being sold down the drain; outsourcing, downsizing, dependence of foreign oil, challenges of freedom of speech, gay rights pushed down our throats, etc.

I for one, feel that I have no voice any more. My lot as a citizen is to fall in love with big government and roll over under the feet of a wild eyed judiciary. ie Parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their own children.

Then we have a number of people that literally hate America and find no good in it.

So, how can any politicial fault the American people for being bitter?

Now you understand how we in the South have been characterized for years. Ever since "Deliverance" the rest of country has been convinced we are all inbred. As of Osama Obama he is the typical "urban" prince. The only things missing are his bling, gold tooth, hat on sideways and droopy pants. I am convinced if his true colors had been revealed earlier Hillary would have walked away with this thing months ago.

Hey, if you don't like the fact that I have the RKBA then move to Europe where everyone is safe. Until the muslims take over that is.

...maybe Obama has done us a huge favor, by opening our eyes to what he truly is.
His Goodwife Michelle started down this path, cuz she's one angry militant person, never satisfied with what she's given. And I bet she gives O. a tongue-lashing every time he lets slip something she thinks he shouldn't have. Well...she's the one who told him to "feel, Barack, don't think!"
So that's what he's doing.
This would be a very poor excuse for a White House couple....very poor.
Just say no.

Yes to McCain.

------------------------
And why are they syndicated? Because they are very popular. It's called supply and demand. Ever hear the word? Propaganda is when things are printed and said that are lies, kill sales, and yet continue with agenda. I believe your MSM does just that.
And since you swallow their portioned feed, YOU are the imbicile, the robot, the pod, and everything else in between that you falsely accuse others of.

How dare you insult and slander my people, my neighbors, my ancestors, my home. Though we are rural, we are quite affluent. Most city liberals would give anything to live in my rural community, but can't afford it. Good thing as we wouldn't want the likes of you infecting our community with gross stupidity, false guilt, and shallow ideologies.

Wow, ok 1st Marxism & Religion do not go together, in fact Marxism is totally against religion... the opiate of the masses sound familiar? 2nd, 1st you say obama hates religion then you rail against his religious choice...ummm, what? You do a good job of writing, good flow, nice emotion but get your facts straight before you post. Your comment at 2:28 am is so full of contracdictions that it makes no sense.

Glib'ama viewing "Deliverance"/ Part I
"Deliverance" revisited - the following is a copy of a message prepared by Emperor Hussein Glib'ama the 1st. for the incoming, April 22, Pennsylvania primary election, message obtained by Misanthropicus through some occult sources:

Malibu, April, 15th. Le Polymorphous Sybarite [NB: David Geffen's mansion]
My dear low-class Pennsylvanians, last night I and my fiercely intelligent wife Michelle have re-watched the classic motion picture "Deliverance" which confirmed my impressions about Pennsylvanian white folks.
My dear low-class Pennsylvanians, I have to say that the fuss that followed my San Francisco description of your benightedness has confirmed our, and our liberal Manhattan, Maui, Malibu, Hamptons and Bel-Air and Tibet liberal friends' compassionate views about you.
I and my fiercely intelligent wife Michelle were again inspired from seeing that film which realistically depicts the dire results of the Clinton/Bush reigns and offers a glimpse of the nitter environment in which Pennsylvania white folks live and are prepared for life - in a conversation with my friend and adviser John Kerry and his fiercely intelligent wife Theresa (via satellite phone, they being at their retreat in Tibet), they confirmed my impression.
My dear low-class Pennsylvanians, trust me that I and my fiercely intelligent wife Michelle are not dissmisive in this matter, I and Michelle know what hardships are, we had a period in our life when we we struggled with the cost of the piano lessons for our daughters, and we are concerned that despite our recent financial betterment (Michelle having received a small raise of $135.000), we'll have to get some GSL for them to accomplish their cultural anthropology studies at Princeton and Harvard.

Damn right! After what happened at Waco I have a very healthy fear of my government. First it will be my guns then my home, church, car, and anything else the libs think I don't need.

"Deliverance"/ Part II
[Cont'd] My dear low-class Pennsylvanians, I and my wife Michelle know that, despite your benightedness, the forthcoming and compassion I and my wife Michelle show in defusing this unproductive situation will be appreciated by you, Pennsylvanians who, after returning from the woods where you shoot animals, read the Bible, make moonshine and amphetamine and sodomize rafters from Beverly Hills, will still chose in the voting booths the hope'n change which will come in, albeit a bit dented, vessel of your hopes - emperor Hussein Glib'ama the 1st.
{Misanthropicus' note: we have knowledge that Emperor Glib'ama is working on an even more mobilizing message to the benighted folk of Indiana. Keep you informed ----)

Boutte
Hey Boutte, I wonder whether the "smart Jews" you are referring to include my great-uncle who served in the Spanish-American war; my uncle who lost a leg in WW I; my father who helped build the A-bomb in WW II and my cousin who died in the Battle of the Bulge; or me (who no longer practices Judaism but is proud of his heritage) who did his time in the Guard?

Buchanan, trughes don't get it
Buchanan writes "the real culprits of the middle class squeeze - a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices and short-term greed...Barack is not wrong here. Corporations, out of naked greed, have deserted America. And the Clinton and Bush administrations have been unresponsive to the social impact of deindustrialization."

Please. Money will flow wherever it gets its best return. Corporate types are as likely to be liberal as conservative. High taxes, overbearing unions, and onerous regulations are pushing the corporations out.

The drug companies spend huge amounts on lobbying yet the regulations require them to spend hundreds of millions and years getting new drugs approved - proving their lobbying is defensive. Business isn't deserting America, the government is deserting business. Corporate greed is checked by competition. Government greed is unchecked.

Pat's populism = economic ignorance.

Your comment at 4:29 am...
Ok, let's start with the fact that you sound like a rascist, "not those of some smart Jew or some low-IQ black or Latino." 2nd, your view on old America is a little off. America has always been a country built on & sustained by immigration. Back in those "glory days" however, the immigrants were Irish, italian, etc. and they were treated just as bad, if not worse than the immigrants today. however, when given the chance they all became productive members of this great society. In fact, they only became "white" after other, darker skinned immigrants began to make up the majority of the influx (here is a funny fact did you know that in the next cnesus, middle-easterners will be lumped into the "white" category?). If you really look at our history you would see that much of the greatness that has sustained us comes from the fact that we have historically picked off the best & brighest from other countries to build & cement our own power (my favorite example is the Manhattan Project). So before you go spouting that uninformed, & historically inaccurate POV, please read a book. P.S. You're only a bigot if you truly believe that the color of man's skin (or any other superficial measure:sex, sexuality, origin) has any bearing on his worth...

About Rascism
Don't judge a man until you have walked in his shoes. While overt racsim dies out long ago, covert rascism, white privelage, and racial disparity are still very much alive today. However, these are ESTABLISHMENT issues. Most black ppl today will tell you that the avg white person is NOT rascist, however they will tell you that they deal with rascism on a regular basis. Why the disparity? Because in many institutions in this country, i.e. the police force, rascism is built into the foundation. In many ways it is so subtle that unless you are a victim, you would never notice it. I would hope that you all do not believe that issues such as: income disparity, blacks making up a dispraportinate amt of the prison pop, and the education disparity, are not simply because "blacks are unwilling to work as hard" or they are "looking for handouts". Because that is no more true for blacks than it is for whites (see the 9/11 victims fund fraud cases, most of those came from whites). Most of you are not rascists, Boutte is the exception - not sure about him. However, I would hope you could at least acknowledge that while we are better than EVER, the issue is still not resolved...

I'm Bitter
Okay, so in their twenty five year wait for jobs to magically appear those angry Pennsylvanians have resorted to God and guns, pretty harmless pastimes if you ask me unless they start shooting at each other like their urban cousins. But the bitter bite of hopelessness has driven these rural retards to adopt a much more destructive way to entertain themselves-- voting for Democrats. Usually the really vile Marxists (Pelosi, Waxman, Nadler, Wexler, McDermott) come from rich silk-stocking districts on the coasts but the most hideous and revolting of them all, the porksters porker, the most vile in his betrayal of the military the loathesome John Murtha is a product of these plaid-shirted Keystone welfare chiselers' greed for public money. He sued to get his opponents removed from the ballot so that even a group as bitter and brain-challenged as rural Pennsylvanians will get it right.

Of course, some lobbying is defensive. The industry I work in falls victim because other more powerful industries are pushing their self interests. I will agree that that is caused by the overwillingness of government to pander to special interests. But those special interests are very often corporate.

Right now, this country could have a perfectly fine national health insurance company. It was voted down by Republicans in 1947. Recently Medicare D, included a codicel prohibiting the U.S. from negotiating better prices for drugs, effectively killing Medicare. Why? Because Big Pharamceuticals wrote the law. Look at Halliburton - the U.S. is required to have a private company assess all the oil purchases from Iraq. Guess who got the contract to do so; guess who wrote the law?

Corporations are doing just fine after another tax cut from GWB. While we workers are being blamed for having a Social Security system (emptied by government borrowing) that doesn't work. It was Reagan who first cut corporate taxes and taxes on the wealthy, and nearly doubled the rate of SS payroll taxes. And then, he started borrowing from the Fund.

Believe me, Corporations on the defense? That's like America, endangered by the airport on Granada. oooh, scary.

Six Shooter in a Duck Blind?
P.S. Obama Fudd, your slip is showing. I believe shooting ducks with a six shooter is probably illegal. Not to mention futile, by and large.

the oblahma dilemma
in seeking his black identity the oblahma seems to see injustices directed towards blacks but fails to understand exactly hopw middle america thinks and feels about how they are effecterd by life. He fails to understand why conservs refuse to give blacks continued paases for failing to take advantage of the opportunities life presents. With the trillions that have been directed towards relieving the effects of poverty we still can't understand why blacks in huge numbers fail to graduate from school, why so many blacks are born out of wedlock and why so many blacks live in single parent homes run by a mother with absentee daddy's who forego their responsibilities once the breeding ritual is complete. Instead the oblahma stays on his message that blacks are always at a great disadvantage when compared to whites. WQhere is his hectoring directed towards blacks telling them to start make smart choices considering their lives. Instead his advice to black parents is to occaisionally take away the video games. That certainly is going to help overcome the attitude of victimhood that is pervasive in that community. When blacks hear that the priviledged oblahma's are resentful towards america why should any expect those who have already messed upo their lives will look with less resentment.

"Recently Medicare D, included a codicel prohibiting the U.S. from negotiating better prices for drugs, effectively killing Medicare. Why?"

Because governments 'negotiating' prices with private industry are called price controls. Price controls cause shortages every time they are tried. Most of the socialist med care systems in other countries, up to now, have had the private US companies to make up for their mismanagement and do their research and development but when people like you take over the last private pharmaceutical industry in the world we'll be lucky to buy an aspirin on the black market for $50.

the view, the reality show
Pat: While you may think its neither mocking or malicious, it comes from a man who acts as if he identifies with every person. In fact in one of his explanations, again from outside the state, insists that he “knows exactly what is going on” there along with other rural places. That itself gives the air that -- even as he categorized and framed their perspective in a poor, cynical light -- he believes himself the real answer for that view, but for their stuck in a rut mindset.

Consider when people go into see his church in Chicago, and then characterize it and their concerns, we get treated as if we know and understand little about it or them. That is, until he boils it to the point that he feels he has to make a formal speech about it -- slightly allowing that we may not really identify with other people.

ImpeachBush
Barack Obama is arrogant. The pedestal that you liberals have placed him on is beginning to crumble and we are finally finding out just who he really is. He may be an articulate speaker and a good BSer, but he certainly isn't fit to be POTUS.
What difference would it make if the woman who released the tape was a Hillary plant. He said what he said and he meant what he said. The arrogant snob, speaking to a room full of arrogant snobs, just didn't have the smarts to realize that in today's world what you say will be broadcasted.

Its the mindset stupid
The chameleon that has come to be known as Barack Obama, will simply go on, and on continuing to assert what he said was true; while missing the tempest in the pot. The moveon-crowd will merely shrug and say what’s wrong with people who do not trust Obama? "All we have to do is Move On and progressives will light the way of salvation for the world. End of story."

Obama isn't about change
and unity: he's about Obama.

The Dems. have a lovely dilemma: Hillary was coddled and promoted by the MSM as the heir presumptive to a Dem. White House because the media and academics and the Beltway guys all wanted to get rid of Bush and get back to the tax-money trough where Dems. belong.

Then, like a savior, Obama floated to the surface of the swamp of IL politics, and the old Dem. bulls who never liked the Clintons, saw promise in Obama and gave him prominence at the 2004 Dem. Conv., despite Obama's clear lack of any pol record.

Then, the MSM saw their chance to treat Hillary like a Rep., actually reporting her lies and mispresentations, so they could lionize Obama. It was so obvious Sat. Nite Live lampooned the process.

Now, the Dems. have the wonderful situation of not wanting Hillary and having exposed her daydreams of sniper fire and Irish peAce treaties, but the Messiah Obama has started revealing himself as another MA liberal whacko just like Kerry and Kennedy and Pelosi.

If McCain can just keep from making too many gaffes, the Reps. will have a chance to retain the WH and re-gain the Senate.

Glib'ama's hubris...
Much and warranted talk about this matter, which belies Glib'ama's narcissistic nature. Hey, the perils of affirmative action - Glib'ama is a brat who obviously got a lot of slack along his career, slack which became simply scandalous during this campaign (I remember Dee-Dee Mayer on Travis coming with (approx.) this: "[...]just imagine a 2 years-only, white senator from mid-west trying a run for presidency! He would have been torn to pieces in a few weeks by media [i.e. liberal media][...]". No doubt about that - simply obscene, and this vain acclaim, grafted on Glib'ama's sense of invulnerability and righteousness, has made him even more haughty and patronizing= hubris, hubris which is always complemented by death wish. So, expect more little "gaffes" and even bigger ones, on Gary Hart's and Bill Clinton's line.
We'll see whether the Larry Sinclair story will get traction - 'till then, read yesterday's LA Times piece on McCain. McCain vs. Glib'ama - your Lincoln vs. a Trabant.

Operation Chaos
This is one small-town Pennsylvania conservative who temporarily changed my registration to Socialist (Democrat) to vote for Hillary and stick a finger in Obama's eye. I still hope Obama will be the nominee, because he is toast here, an area that is normally 50/50 Republican/Democrat. Our Congressman, Tim Holden, is an incompetent, entrenched, good old boy Democrat, but he would lose in a landslide if he ever voted for gun control. Nobody here likes to be called a loser by a Chicago political hack.

Byron

Brilliantly stated; but I’m afraid unless it were grounded in liberal agenda, his ears cannot hear. He could get out in the rural counties with his talking points, but they mean little if he fertilizes them with manure. It is what it is. But no, he’d rather loose there than do that. Of course he thought partnering with Casey would bring all the roosters home.

Amen -- But if Obama really understood the circumstances there he would not have done that. Thankfully someone cared enough to expose it.

Heck Pa already saw what RAMMING something like pay raises through in the middle of the night brought them. Now this idiot comes along to poke them in the eye, and prove he really is out of touch.

I never said anything about the war constantly going on in Israel, so claiming i don't get it is out of place. Thank you for admitting to my point.
BTW, There is no way the Jews would lose in an all out fight with their neighbors, see the 7 Day War. So my question is after you have established military superiority, which has been done ad nauseam, how do you bring peace? It certainly isn't with more military actions... and don't give me Iran & nukes bs, that's been refuted...

When you consider that

Uneasy

He is talking bottom up but he is all about top down. We are the ones who are supposed to be judging politicians...rather than sitting on their thrones passing judgment on us, or our values.

He also believes Israel has no right to exist.

Just wanted to let you know who you're talking to.

trughes' socialist myths
As long as the government has the power to grant favors or deal punishments, there will always be pressure groups fighting on the steps of the legislature for their interests. The problem is the government having too much power, not the corporations. Let them compete in the market.

Government-dictated health insurance is an obscene idea. No sane individual would want the government dictating who gets treatment, what kind of treatment you get, and when you get it. It would be run with all the humanity of the DMV and the efficiency of the post office. The chance some bureaucrat or politician could make such sensitive, complex, personal choices for individuals is absurd on its face. You ever seen a Brit's teeth?

Without the spur of competition, medical science will stagnate. If the 1947 bill had passed, we would still have 1947-era medical technology. It's no coincidence that U.S. has led the world in medical breakthroughs enabling the indigent to get better care than a millionaire could have in 1947.

P.S. Kennedy cut taxes way before Reagan, and even Kennedy was hardly the first. Tax revenues soared after the Reagan cuts. Again, you're wrong on the facts as well as theory.

Fascists? In the current administration?
Impeachbush:
Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology generally tied to a mass movement that considers the individual subordinate to the interests of the state. Liberals Sir, are more closely related to Fascists. The Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only insofar as his interests coincide with those of the State.
Which candidant Sir aspires to create more state programs? Obama proposed the most new government spending of all candidates. Who proposes to usurp more individual rights in the name of "progress"?
You Sir need to appraise yourself of knowledge before you write. But like all Liberals you will continue to make Red Herring arguments, in order to cover Obamas many failings.

Impeach Bush

Yea whoa, you know what that flag means....

Big T
I am the decider, you need to trust the decider... sorry T, while i think both statements yours & impeachbush are exaggerated, defending Bush is always a losing argument imo.

-he oversaw the largest expansion of power by the exceutive branch ever
-he impeached on peoples right to privacy
-gave a wink & a nod to torture
-has constantly gone against the majority in his quest to spread "freedom"
-politicized the justice department
-has used excutive privelage more than any other president ever to get around that pesky thing... what was that again... right the constitution
-and he definietly put the state, or rather his version of the state, ahead of any individual

but he is almost out, so let's rejoice & focus on righting all the wrongs he did (because this was only the abbreviated list).

Obama's Finished
The problem for the DNC is that Obama holds the majority of delegates, and the alternative is Hillary. Obama cannot recover from such a blatent expression of racism -no matter how it is spun. And to think, there's people here who think he's ready for prime time.

If the man cannot discipline himself on the campaign trail, how can he ever make a good executive. Heck, I would think that Obama would know what every 12th grader studying goverment knows -Nothing a candidate says while on the campagin trail is "off the record."

Bob Casey and Baraq Hussein Obama
Bob Casey's support for Obama won't help much. Casey is an empty suit who was elected on his name and family history. In fact, many voters still believe they are voting for his late father, the last anti-abortion Democrat on the planet. Ed Rendell trounced Casey in the 2002 gubernatorial primary and is a much better politician. His support for Hillary does carry some weight.

Small-town Pennsylvanians come in all socio-economic categories, rich, poor, and in-between. They have one common denominator, pride and self-reliance. Even those who have fallen on hard economic times, and might otherwise be prey for his Socialist programs, are still insulted by his attitude.

JPK
-- It seems Dems are stuck with him. They bought the MoveOn farm. They see what it is like to throw Clintons out; imagine if they try to throw Obama out?

uncandled something
And aren't you getting such a great return on your investment, congress?

xpressit
Don't know how many times I have to say this...
In their wisdom the forefathers created a system where compromise was necessary to get anything done, no matter who is the majority. So you can't expect much from Congress if the minority is set on "gumming up the work", this holds especially true during an election and it goes for both sides of the aisle. This can be exaggerated by the leanings of executive branch & supreme court. The only exception is when the 2/3 majority exists, which is rare, and thankfully so.

Tacitusx
"Let them compete in the market." "Please. Money will flow wherever it gets its best return."

Exsqueese me. Have you heard of Enron?

Did they manage to do what you're talking about.

Don't you realize that Corporate power is exactly the same as Feudal power. There is no competition. Why, becuase, as you must know, unless you are a retard, the object of Capitalism is to eliminate competition!

And guess what - Quite a few corporations have been sucessfull at doing so, in their business area. Do ya think Halliburton has a lot of worries about competition, WHEN THEY WRITE THE LAW under which they suck their money out of the government?

What are you talking about "the best return". Every single corporate CEO knows where the best return is -- HIS OWN BANK ACCOUNT. But to get that he has to line the pockets of his top executives. I work in a large corporation. I can see that useless lay or scum hiring more executives. One of our CEOs met a coworker of mine, saw from his name tag where he lived and asked him: "Do you know of any investment properties in that town?" My buddy was renting!

Best return my A**. Have you heard that in Aspen, the millionaires are being run out of town on rails by the billionaires. Is all that money cleverly invested so the corporation can operate more efficiently. No.

So, your whole pile of s*** mythology of the efficiency of captialism is a lie. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Money is power - power breeds corruption. Our Founders knew that. If the government is unresponsive, it's because we haven't been participating as citizens. Try participating in a feudal monarchy, once it completely takes over.

Liberal Fascism
"Trughes" seems to hate capitalism. Perhaps he is one of the "bitter" people attracted to Osama. He certainly seems bitter.

If the US does not practice capitalism, then we will have no alternative but State Socialism or Communism, or today's version, Liberal Fascism, where the government controls every aspect of your life and acts like they are doing you a favor. I, for one, will drop out of that system and become a member of the welfare society rather than work as a slave of the government and, as Madame Obama would say, give up my "piece of the pie" to someone else.

what nerve
Impeachbush, Can't you satisfy your desire to polute the internet by staying on the "Mourning" Call chat room? There was no doubt that you would be supporting Obama because you actually consider yourself Mensa material while in reality you are simply a common liberal with a "hobby" that you would not want me to print, Mr. furniture man.

I say vote for obamy.
I want to see how much more of a mess he can make along with Bush and the Clintons. I want to see riots, mayhem, etc. I say bring it on....lets have a real mess....out in the open...not hidden. Come on Obama win son, turn America into what Bush and his daddy always wanted.............a total mess. Maybe then we can rid this country of you fools.

Charles, I beg to differ.
Allowing small business men to make good livings was what this country was all about, until the Corporations took over. Then, they started running the show. Do you think Standard Oil wanted a lot of competition from small oil companies?

How can you argue that a company like Hallyburton is capitalistic. Their former CEO is the vice-president in charge of invading other countries. Do you think that is Capitalism? What insane universe do you come from? Don't you see the natural tendency towards corruption (which our founders were well aware of) overcoming any possible checks and balances provided by competition?

You must be some real dreamer. This is pure fascism, the combination of state and corporation! How else is a company ever going to ensure it has no competition, but by starting to bribe officials, then getting right in and writing the Laws. But that is natural with the Feudalism. Ever see a movie about English History and wonder if the PRIVY COUNSELL was elected or did they by their wisdom rise out of the ranks of peasants like bright flowers. No, they were the richest men in the land and they joined the feudal government to make sure it stayed that way.

Capitalism is a myth, because power naturally coalesces and it soon becomes the government. If you see nothing wrong with that just come right out of the closet and proclaim "We cons want FEUDALISM!"

And if you cowards divert my questions and do not answer them, you are cowards. I'll make it simple: Was Enron operating as a Capitalist company or something different, and if something different, please explain.

Anarchy is not a solution
LzVandy is an idiot, regardless of who he/she supports. Anarchy is not the solution to anything.

Small-town Pennsylvanians will be armed and ready if such mayhem ever occurs. This is the real purpose of the Second Amendment, not hunting. The enemy will be easy to identify.

I meant to say
if you CONS! divert my question... I didn't mean to impugn those honorable cons who can actually stand up to arguments and try to answer them honestly.

Trughes, your rantings make no sense
The subject line is the comment. What do you propose to replace the existing system?

trughes rhymes with lose
trughes writes "Exsqueese me. Have you heard of Enron?" Yes, they're out of business. You lose.

Business people are no more or less greedy than anyone else. The difference is that markets act as a check on their greed. Try reading Adam Smith circa 1776. Your "analysis" (emphasis on the first four letters) is more than 2 centuries out of date. You lose again.

Corporate power is NOT the same as feudal power. That's like saying someone offering you a job (which you are free to turn down) is no better than someone demanding your slavish obedience upon pain of torture and/or death. I'll start to believe it when I see you choose torture and death. Until then, you lose.

"Capitialism" is also an ignorant Marxist term for a free market economy. "Laborism" would make more sense since a far greater percentage of the returns go back to labor than was ever realized in any of your beloved soviet economies. You lose again.

Halliburton's alleged sins are the result of government power, not Halliburton's market power. Without government favors, Halliburton has no government money. You lose again.

There is obviously far more competition in free market economies than under any other form - not even close. You lose again.

If money is power, how did Enron (your example)CEO Jeffrey Skilling end up in prison, while you're apparently roaming loose? Money is wealth. The ability to physically coerce others is power. You lose again.

.....I doubt it ...I doubt that you would even recognize it ...

.....So most blacks think that whites are not racist as individuals but that they live in a system where invisible racism is institutionalized ...what? ...only a Liberal could make such an illogical statement ...

.....If you truly believe that then how can this entrenched racism be exorcised to eveyones satisfaction so that blacks would be willing to give up the perks of Affirmative Action? ...the answer is they won't ...they will never be satisfied ...so a confrontation is inevitable ...

.....Whites in general are tired of being called racist every time they don't make excuses for bad behavior by blacks and even being accused of being responsible for that same bad behavior ...this Obama nomination is bringing all this repressed hostility to the surface and a white back lash is very possible ...especially if riots break out as Sharpten has hinted at if Obama doesn't get the nomination ...

.....Even a docile dog can only be whipped so long before he turns vicious .....COLOSSUS

Tacitus X and Charles
I don't think I lost on one of examples.

> Yes, they're out of business. > but before they "went out of business" they stole money illegally, because Bush had just been elected and Bush had been governor of Texas and they contributed to Bush's campaign so he would be elected and nobody dared even question them (the black box of money making, I heard it described) because they were powerful. My question to you, did they invest properly and efficiently or did they abuse their power? I think the answer is obvious, they abused their power.

> offering you a job is no better than someone demanding your slavish obedience > do you have any idea the number of people who only stay on their job so they don't lose health insurance coverage. A Lot.

> "Laborism" would make more sense > give me a break, have you ever worked for a corporation, ever hear them justify anything in terms of maximizing return to the workers? No. I recently talked to a former executive of Ford: everything that company did was either ego (British CEO buying jaguar) or the effect on short term share price. All the stupidity of missing the hybrid technology, was because it wouldn't look good THIS QUARTER on the stock market. Good job. He didn't mention helping the workers, but they did spend the pension, that had to do with the workers.

Tacitus x and Charles cont
> Without government favors, Halliburton has no government money. > My point exactly. Halliburton has power. Would they own the Vice-president, if they didn't give him a $20 million going away gift?? I doubt it. But he deserved it didn't he?

But haven't you heard the latest from the Supreme court: Money is speech. Giving a bribe is like having a conversation. Now, if that were not established as Law by this gang of thieves, then you might have a point. But now, we have the doctrine of money is speech and they are trying to install the "corporations should have all the rights of humans". That's next.

> how did Enron (your example)CEO Jeffrey Skilling end up in prison,> did you mention prison? That must have required the intervention of a prosecutor, and perhaps, that represents the correcting hand of EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT: Laws, the Judicial system, and Government.

There was always power in this country, but in the old days they believed in limiting it's influence on government, because they were afraid of the other guy getting too much. Now, these guys are on top of their game. Lose a few like Enron, but gain a few like Exxon, Hallyburton. They all share board memberships. It's the small guys they are trying to keep out of the business and of course how to get the government to a) put pressure on uncooperative foreign entities and b) extract as much from the consumer as possible, while paying as little in taxes themselves. That's the game. Isn't it obvious?

Polls
Are you guys watching these polls. Don't listen to the media. Obama is melting like the wicked witch of the west.
Hillary is in double digits in Indiana and Pennsylvania. North Carolina he's down 6 points. The national polls which are usually one to two weeks behind the state polls he has dropped 5.5 points.

sorry, I forgot about Charles
No, I do not propose replacing anything. I propose enforcing the laws that stand and reviving those that this current band of crooks have instituted.

We need a law that says the news media cannot lie. That used to be the case! What's wrong with that. Corporations don't own the airspace, therefore, they use that airspace by license only and should not be able to lie. Now, of course cable is a sticky problem. But have the cable companies built the entire infrastructure of transmission? I believe not.

This country used to have anti-trust laws, they have all been brushed aside, especially in the media (thanks in great part to the Jiggaboo General's well-placed son.)

How about tarifs. Used to be, in the time of Jefferson and Adams, the sole source of income to the poor government and vital protection to homespun business. Why not say, if you are going to sell a good in the U.S. but it is made by overseas labor that cost 1/10 of what you'd have to pay a U.S. Citizen, kindly pay a 10x tariff (or some proportion attributable to the labor costs.)? Think how fast those jobs would come back here. And think how those companies might really care about having the government actually educate our children. Productivity would matter. Not just how fast we can exit.

Corporations are eating this country alive, because they have gotten nothing but tax cuts and favors. Who do you think wrote Medicare D, the biggest rip-off we have ever witnessed: not underpaid government staffers, but, of course, lawyers for the big pharmaceuticals and insurance companies. Who else. That's conflict of interest and i t used to be illegal.

Just enforce the laws, that's all we ask. Don't let the big corporations buy this country. It's not for sale.

Since you are a typical black person, it is pointless to waste time reading your reasons why i should vote for someone who thinks i am a typical white person. Keep going, though. There may be some reader here whose mind you can change. There may even be someone who could change your mind. On this particular subject, i would like to bet against either possiblility. Obama, his words and deeds do the convincing. Nothing you or i say makes much difference.

6 points down in NC? No kidding? He was supposed to be a lock. Don't tell me those hicks in NC are clinging to their guns, Bibles and antipathy there too.

Good excuses you're
making for Obama libs. There's covert racism, white priviledge, blah, blah. Sounds good but there's no proof, only your opinion. Sorry trhughes, blacks have become by far, more racist than anyone. Hispanics are well on their way as well. The statistics show blacks BY FAR, commit more crimes against whites. Heck, they commit more crimes against their own race than anybody else. Thankfully there's folks like you to make excuses for them and guilty white libs like Boutte as well. Whites, who have come quite a long way since slavery, are finally figuring this out. Hey, do you suppose we could stop the handouts being given to people who screw up their own lives as well? You seem to not have a clue as to where money comes from.

Addressing the article
I seldom agree with much of what Mr. Buchanan writes, he is too isolationist/nationalistic in my view. He has however fairly hit the nail on the head in his assessment of the impact of Barak Obama's growing "small town America" revelation of his true leftist, exceptionally socialistic, approaching Marxist view as to the governorship of this nation.

for trughes
trughes writes: "Barak is right to say the middle of America "clings to their guns", with one conservative newspaper and Fox News pandering to their fears. It has always been true that those with limited inputs are more susceptible to fear-mongering."

How do you KNOW all this??? Where is your EVIDENCE???

PROVE that rural citizens are more fearful than, say, urban citizens living in crime-ridden Detroit, for example.

PROVE that rural citizens own guns solely because of "fear," not because they like to hunt, or they like to collect things (just like stamps or any other hobby), or because they see the guns as symbols of our freedom.

How do you KNOW there is all this "fear" in rural areas? Are you psychic? Or have you gone door to door in rural towns and surveyed the people and come away with this knowledge?

Rahm Emanuel had it right: Stop treating rural America as an alien culture to be studied like Margaret Mead studies some Third World tribe. You clearly don't know a freaking thing about rural life.

Have you considered this might be a kind of projection: So far, it's YOU LEFTISTS who are the most bitter, angry and fearful Americans of all. With your conspiracy theories and your fury that the rest of America doesn't admire Canada and Europe the way you do.

And that isn't because I'm "psychic"; in my personal experience in dealing with left-wing folks, they are bitter and angry as hell. And paranoid too, much of the time. Spinning about TEN separate and mutually contradictory conspiracy theories about oil, Halliburton, Israel, the CIA, blah-blah-blah.

for mamadeus
mamadeus writes: "Most folks that post here are so brain washed they will never understand what you so truthfully articulate....But, the big boys who pull the strings get a stooge
they can control. "

You're a poster child for my own theory: The Obama supporters sound like the most bitter Americans of all. While claiming it's us who are bitter.

You sound so bitter you're ready for psychotherapy.

for impeachBush
impeachBush writes: "YIPPEE! Barack is giving a speech now to a group of veterans in Washington, PA and guess what? He is wearing a flag lapel pin! Yeah! I guess now we can say that he is finally PATRIOTIC! Like George W. Bush!"

See? You Lefties really can get with the program if you make an effort.

Freudian slip
IT is great to see Obama (the messiah) say what he really thinks.

He doesn't like our country. That is why he won't wear a flag pin. Won't hold his hand over his heart when he says the pledge of allegience. He is a Marxist globalist.

He is anxious to get started having the gov manage the economy. (Turned out well in Russia) And he is anxious to start working on "collectives".

I despise McCain, and I don't like Hillary, but Obama is scary. He doesn't like our country and he doesn't like us.

Does hypocrisy know no bounds?

trughes @ 11:05am:

"You write: "Damn right! After what happened at Waco I have a very healthy fear of my government"

I suppose you also support the FDLS. Do you oppose what our government did in Texas recently, invading their little community and even, god forbid, entering the sacred cathedral?

With a rumpled bed in a little room behind the alter.

What a fine group of people. God-fearing.

Fine people. Really fine."

==============================================

Divert, rather than addressing the gentleman's point.

Hypocrite.

juschill
That was not a diversion. The gentleman suggested that the Waco invasion was a crime. The FDLS invasion was very similar, because in both cases the suggestion of child protection was a clear justification.

The point is that sometimes, Religious fanatics need, also, to obey the laws prohibiting the exploitation of children for men's sexual needs, no matter what they profess in regards their nearness to gog.

Religion is the supreme hypocrisy, because it admits no fault to itself but only fault in others. But you aren't a hypocrite, I'm sure.

SteveL fear is synonymous with ignorance
I can't prove a positive statement. That would be unscientific. But you should know that because you have professed to having scientific thoughts, haven't you?

It is an induction. Time after time I have seen these gun lovers refer to their heroic possibilites, when the evil robber breaks into their house, intent to rape their wives, they blow them to bits. They forget that half the time, statistically, they will be blowing some friend's head off. Or their 5 year old will shoot his best friend.

Here we hear about road rage, where some idiot has a gun with him in the car, doubtlessly, for defensive means, but then he's had a bad day and someone cuts him off and he shots an innocent father in front of his kids. Wow. That gun really served a great purpose, didn't it? But it was meant to be defensive....why? Well, can you tell me...the only reason one would have a gun for defense, or to keep it loaded when deer do not regularly step through the living room, is FEAR.

FEAR motivates defense. What else? You're the psychic. I have no idea where that came from.

Do you think someone has to be psychic to see that Hallyburton gets no-bid contracts and writes the law governing those contracts, because their former CEO is our vice-president? Gee, that' not really a psychic related phenomonon. THAT'S PATENTLY OBVIOUS. Duh.

Tacitus x - medical insurance
You write: "Government-dictated health insurance is an obscene idea. No sane individual would want the government dictating who gets treatment, what kind of treatment you get, and when you get it. " Actually, every Western industrialized nation on Earth has exactly that system and it is not insane. What is insane is saying we WANT a system where an insurance company for a small state like Nevada, sells for $3 billion. Where does a health insurance company get all its profits to justify someother company buying it for $3 B?

I think I will go with the insane Germans, Dutch, French, Italians, Swedish. I've heard pretty much everyone has a decent life and they don't go bankrupt when they have small accident or get sick. That's what I want.

Have you had a parent that has taken advantage of Medicare? It's not perfect. But a damn sight better than driving you into bankruptcy because they get old. Go ahead, buy supplemental, but please, please, don't try to tell me Medicare is a bad system. That's all we want.

Did we ever say we would not allow people to pay for better care? Do you think a single payer system would destroy the natural incentive to live longer? NO. There will still be innovations. And people will still pay extra if they really can and really want to. There has always been research money, or do you cons want to privatize all of that.

Unlike what the fear mongering the propagandists put out, a european system of health care is not socialism. Medicare has a 2-3% overhead. We just want the government bureaucrats to make sure the basics are covered where there should not be huge profits. What is wrong with that?? It makes a whole lot more sense than having a huge layer of profiteering middlemen sitting between the doctor and the patient trying to squeeze a profit out of an appendectomy. Who needs that?

Not a diversion?

The man wrote about agents burning people at Waco. You turn around and - instead of addressing anything at all about the government's attack at Waco - write that the man must support FDLS.

Not only is it a diversion, it's a gross misstep in logic.

The point is that sometimes people certainly do need to protect themselves from government from time to time, or perhaps you've never heard of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc. and/or think this government is immune from corruption.

Religion admits no fault to itself? You can't be serious. The Christian religion is based on the fact that we are all sinful and in need of redemption and only through Christ are we saved because we are no good and our works are no good.

Please, educate yourself before any future postings. Cliches and propaganda just won't suffice.

You may want to provide some proof

trughes: "They forget that half the time, statistically, they will be blowing some friend's head off. Or their 5 year old will shoot his best friend."

Please provide evidence of this. You may want to read a book some time. Check out UC Economist John Lott's scientific findings on gun ownership rather than making up statistics in your head as you go along.

trughes: " but please, please, don't try to tell me Medicare is a bad system. That's all we want."

If you want to go along believing that a system destined to go bankrupt in 10-15 (see the trustees who monitor the fiscal health of Medicare and Social Security.) years is a good system, keep on believing. That sure does take a lot of blind faith, worshipping at the altar of government programs.

Please, just read a little bit instead of regurgitating propaganda. There are plenty of studies on the aforementioned issues. You don't have to make up statistics in your head. Use your brain, just once.

Liberalism and political correctness
are nothing more than cover-up words for communism and socialism. Political correctness is the same thing the Stalinists did to squelch freedom of speech and thoughts. It insures thw totalitarian regime's total control of the proletariats by keeping anything but the party line(liberalism) alive.

When freedom loving folks are afraid to speak, freedom is dead. When we embrace racism as practiced by Obama and the rev. wright, we are letting the inmates run the asylum. When we succumb to political correctness in any form, we are giving up our freedom, not only of speech, but thoughts as well, and our freedom to oppose tyranny and evil. We are being brainwashed.

I will speak the truth in any circumstance and in any group and in any way and I don't give a darn who is offended or who is insulted. I refuse to be politically correct and I refuse to be intimidated by liberals or any one. I will not surrender my freedom so easily, and will take any liberal out behind the woodshed that tries the intimidation crap.
