Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Since Sept. 11, 2001, Americans living along the U.S.-Mexican border have been warning that our porous frontier is a back door for terrorist entry into this country. Local, state and federal law enforcement officers, overwhelmed by the flow of human traffic across the border, have acknowledged the threat -- and been widely ignored by the mainstream media and "official" Washington. Last year, in little-noticed congressional testimony, FBI Director Robert Mueller revealed that "individuals from countries with known al Qaeda connections have attempted to enter the United States illegally using alien smuggling rings and assuming Hispanic appearances."

Now, thanks to the investigative reporting of my colleague at FOX News, correspondent William Lajeunesse, the monarchs of the media and the potentates on the Potomac can no longer ignore reality. Lajeunesse took the time to carefully digest a new staff report prepared by the House Committee on Homeland Security. It ought to be required reading for every reporter and official in Washington, D.C.

Titled "A Line in the Sand: Confronting the Threat at the Southwest Border," the just-released report confirms what many have long suspected: Our border is a sieve, not a barrier, for radical Islamic terrorists transiting into the United States. The Investigations Subcommittee charges that from Sept. 11, 2001, to the present, hundreds of illegal aliens from countries "such as Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan and Afghanistan" were apprehended crossing into the United States.

But that's not all the bad news. Investigators also found:

-- In June 2006, seven Iraqis were caught in Brownsville, Texas;

-- In August, an Afghani man was caught crossing the Rio Grande into Texas;

-- Mueller has testified that a Hezbollah cell had been "dismantled" after officials discovered that the terror organization was smuggling operatives across the U.S.-Mexico border to carry out terror attacks inside the United States.

-- Individuals from countries with known al Qaeda connections have changed their Islamic surnames and adopted false Hispanic identities in order to escape detection and blend into American society.

-- Radical Islamic groups that support Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamiya Al Gamat are all active in Latin America.

All that is bad enough, but the bombshell -- as reported by Lajeunesse and confirmed in the congressional report -- is the role being played by Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. It's well known that the oil-rich Marxist in Caracas has been busy spreading his anti-American "Bolivarian Revolution" throughout our southern hemisphere. But this investigation now concludes that Chavez's nefarious deeds go well beyond a weapons-buying spree and efforts to manipulate elections in Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua.

According to the congressional report, "Venezuela is providing support --including identity documents -- that could prove useful to radical Islamic groups The Venezuelan government has issued thousands of cedulas, the equivalent of Social Security cards, to people from places such as Cuba, Colombia and Middle Eastern nations that host foreign terrorist organizations." These documents can be used to obtain Venezuelan passports and American visas, which in turn allow the holder to elude immigration checks and enter the United States.

Nothing in the report comes as a surprise to Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.). His new book, "In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security," is full of anecdotal information that substantiates the charges made by the House Homeland Security Committee staff. Tancredo notes that a group of Pakistanis were recently apprehended at the U.S.-Mexican border with fraudulent Venezuelan documents.

Somehow, most of this has eluded the crack journalists who purport to write and report "news" for our so-called mainstream media. Even Agence France-Presse took notice that al Qaeda had established a "clandestine travel service" south of the border to help move operatives into the United States. Though American pundits have been quick to accuse citizen organizations like the Minutemen of being "vigilantes" or worse, the people with the poison pens have paid scant attention to the realities contained in this report -- most of which was already in the public domain.

Doubters who cannot accept how essential it is to plug the holes in our southern frontier should read this report and wake up to a clear and present danger. For those who still have trouble understanding, the concluding lines of Section III on Page 32 should suffice: "Given the ever-present threat posed by al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations -- a threat that has been underscored by the recent events in London and the vulnerability of our borders -- the need for immediate action to enforce our borders could not be more apparent."

A very serious problem
Anyone caught with those false cerdentials, even a native born citizen, could and should be shot as a spy.

We could retroactively seal that border by rationing food and gas like we did in WW2. You would need to prove identity and legal residence to obtain ration books. That would sort out the bad guys when they got hungry or they ran out of gas.

It’s insane!
And has been for eons. Very likely it will take a catastrophe to get the nation’s attention, leaving us "a day late and a dollar short.” Why we refuse to learn from history is beyond me...

Border security
Border security and illegal immigration is a political anchor that will sink any politician daring to take a stand before the November elections.Politicians from either party will not touch the subject for fear of losing votes. It's the vote that matters and unfortunately the security of this nation & its people are at risk.

AND WHAT DOES
Our government do, yesterday they sentenced two American border patrol agents to 10 and 11 years in jail for shooting a known illegal Mexican drug smuggler in the as s and to boot the government granted this dirt bag immunity for testifying against our agents. Something is seriously wrong with our government when this kind of behaviour is going on, and it leaves no question that the little monkey leaders of the world are pulling George Bushes strings, they have influence over our judicial system, and they simply are not afraid of our super power status. I would have to assume that all liberals are finally happy, and I pray that all liberal Judges, the Ted Kennedy's and Nancy Pelosi's of the world are the first to be attacked by the terrorist that you allowed to enter and take over this country.

Heads Need To Roll

Keep your eye on the RINO's
Vote GOP but keep eyes and ears on the rino's afterwards. Olympia Snowe is an advacate for a open border as she explains to me in a response letter(before election time) how she is the descendant of greek immigrants and sees nothing wrong with illegals coming here.

Recently she has been on the local news saying she never voted for amnesty(she only voted for "a path to citizenship") and believes in border security.(How convenient at election time). She constantly votes the wrong way(with liberals even though republican)but she is one of my liberal Republican Senators up for re-election. I may vote for her but will keep an eye on her and bombard her with correspondence every time an important issue is at hand.

I totally agree with Eagle
It's all about the vote. Nothing will be done to address this. Our 2 party political system now seemingly operates like a federally-regulated duopolistic industry; no competition gets in, prices are fixed, Directors are fixed, mindset is insular, ideas are unwelcome, corrupt practices rule, and it's the people who are getting screwed.

There are no "issues" it seems. Just professional party shills playing the party game, perpetuating the duopoly. And there's no shortage of 100% party-line citizens helping it along.

Makes one want to go down and join the Minutemen. At least they are trying to do SOMETHING.

Mr. North
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Someone is finally getting serious and writing about the dangers at our borders. Venezulans have long known that the Island of Margarita (part of Venezuela) is a training and grooming ground for terrorists, who's final destination is the US (as reported on Fox News, finally). I would hope that more columnist would take up this banner, so as to get Congress to get serious about sealing the borders, especially the southern borders.

Here is The Problem
1. No one believes the report and no one believes the intelligence that was used to put the report together.
2. We are in a war against terrorist and we are not prosecuting the war vigorously enough to win it. The Army has developed new doctrine that babies terrorist and their supporters and actively looks for ways to preclude killing them. Here is the doctrine if you want to read it --remember the Army fights by its published doctrine and all training pamphlets are changed to incorporate the new doctrine.

POLITICALLY CORRECT WAR
By RALPH PETERS
HAVE we lost the will to win wars? Not just in Iraq, but anywhere? Do we really believe that being nice is more important than victory?
It's hard enough to bear the timidity of our civilian leaders - anxious to start wars but without the guts to finish them - but now military leaders have fallen prey to political correctness. Unwilling to accept that war is, by its nature, a savage act and that defeat is immoral, influential officers are arguing for a kinder, gentler approach to our enemies.

They're going to lead us into failure, sacrificing our soldiers and Marines for nothing: Political correctness kills.

Obsessed with low-level "tactical" morality - war's inevitable mistakes - the officers in question have lost sight of the strategic morality of winning. Our Army and Marine Corps are about to suffer the imposition of a new counterinsurgency doctrine designed for fairy-tale conflicts and utterly inappropriate for the religion-fueled, ethnicity-driven hyper-violence of our time.

We're back to struggling to win hearts and minds that can't be won.

The good news is that the Army and Marine Corps worked together on the new counterinsurgency doctrine laid out in Field Manual 3-24 (the Army version). The bad news is that the doctrine writers and their superiors came up with fatally wrong prescriptions for combating today's insurgencies.

Astonishingly, the doctrine ignores faith-inspired terrorism and skirts ethnic issues in favor of analyzing yesteryear's political insurgencies. It would be a terri- fic manual if we returned to Vietnam circa 1963, but its recommendations are profoundly misguided when it comes to fighting terrorists intoxicated with religious visions and the smell of blood.

Why did the officers in question avoid the decisive question of religion? Because the answers would have been ugly.

Wars of faith and tribe are immeasurably crueler and tougher to resolve than ideological revolts. A Maoist in Malaya could be converted. But Islamist terrorists who regard death as a promotion are not going to reject their faith any more than an ethnic warrior can - or would wish to - change his blood identity.

So the doctrine writers ignored today's reality.

Al Qaeda and other terror organizations have stated explicitly and repeatedly that they're waging a global jihad to re-establish the caliphate. Yet the new manual ignores religious belief as a motivation.

The politically correct atmosphere in Washington deems any discussion of religion as a strategic factor indelicate: Let our troops die, just don't hurt anyone's feelings.

So the doctrine writers faked it, treating all insurgencies as political. As a result, they prescribed an excellent head-cold treatment - for a cancer patient. The text is a mush of pop-zen mantras such as "Sometimes doing nothing is the best reaction," "The best weapons do not shoot," or "The more force used, the less effective it is."

That's just nutty. Should we have done nothing in the wake of 9/11? Would everything have been OK if we'd just been nicer? What non-lethal "best weapons" might have snagged Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora, where the problem was too little military force, not too much violence?

Should we have sent fewer troops to Iraq, where inadequate numbers crippled everything we attempted? Will polite chats with tribal chiefs stop the sectarian violence drenching Iraq in blood?

On the surface, the doctrine appears sober and serious. But it's morally frivolous and intellectually inert, a pathetic rehashing of yesteryear's discredited "wisdom" on counterinsurgencies and, worst of all, driven by a stalker-quality infatuation with T.E. Lawrence, "Lawrence of Arabia," who not only was a huckster of the first order, but whose "revolt in the desert" was a near-meaningless sideshow of a sideshow.

Lawrence is quoted repeatedly, with reverence. We might as well cite the British generals of the Great War who sent men over the top in waves to face German machine guns.

You can trust two kinds of officers: Those who read a great deal and those who don't read at all. But beware the officer who reads just a little and falls in love with one book. A little education really is a dangerous thing.

The new manual is thick - length is supposed to substitute for insight. It should be 75 percent shorter and 100 percent more honest. If issued to our troops in its present form, it will lead to expensive failures. Various generals have already tried its prescriptions in Iraq - with discouraging results, to put it mildly.

We've reached a fateful point when senior officers seek to evade war's brute reality. Our leaders, in and out of uniform, must regain their moral courage. We can't fight wars of any kind if the entire chain of command runs for cover every time an ambitious journalist cries, "War crime!" And sorry: Soccer balls are no substitute for bullets when you face fanatics willing to kill every child on the playing field.

In war, you don't get points for good manners. It's about winning. Victory forgives.

The new counterinsurgency doctrine recommends forbearance, patience, understanding, non-violent solutions and even outright passivity. Unfortunately, our enemies won't sign up for a replay of the Summer of Love in San Francisco. We can't treat hardcore terrorists like Halloween pranksters on mid-term break from prep school.

Where is the spirit of FDR and George C. Marshall, who recognized that the one unbearable possibility was for the free world to lose?

We discount the value of ferocity - as a practical tool and as a deterrent. But war's immutable law - proven yet again in Iraq - is that those unwilling to pay the butcher's bill up front will pay it with compound interest in the end.

The new counterinsurgency doctrine is dishonest and cowardly.

We don't face half-hearted Marxists tired of living in the jungle, but religious zealots who behead prisoners to please their god and who torture captives by probing their skulls with electric drills. We're confronted by hatreds born of blood and belief and madmen whose appetite for blood is insatiable.

And we're afraid to fight.

Ralph Peters is a retired Army officer.
3. We have an insidious Secular-Progressive (Communist) radical left which are controlled and supported by contributions from people like George Soros. This left has an inordinate number of Jews that have influential or controlling interest in the MSM, Hollywood, our Judicial system and they have infiltrated (legally) our branches of Congress. Examples of these people are George Soros, Charlie Schumer, Russ Feingold, a plethora of writers and newscasters and the ACLU. These people are in some cases 3d generation Communist and they despise America and they will never publish anything that may make us more secure. TREASON is the word--NO ACTION is the result.

Nothing New
Everyone has known for years that our borders were vulnerable yet North writes a column pretending to be breaking the news.

I find that somewhat off-putting.

Please tell me
Can any of you please tell me why some of our so called leaders continue to push for uncontrolled borders and naturalizing the criminals who have already sneaked across our borders? Can anyone please tell me why our president just doesn't seem to get it when it comes to the USA-Mexican border? Does big business have him so captured and brainwashed that he is incapable of flipping off Vincente Foxx and start acting like a real leader when it comes to our security on our southern border? I hate to say it but the man seems like a total dolt when it comes to this issue. I was reading just the other day that even some democrats are now starting to see that there is a problem along our southern border but not enough of them really get the picture. The governor of California was so very correct when he said that Mexicans want to remain Mexican but want US benefits. Terrorists are smart to take advantage of this unnecessary conflict within our government and slip in people to do us harm. We're just asking for it!

Columbia Radicals

.....Col North...radical students at Columbia recently attacked and silenced the "free Speech" of the minutemen who are trying to defend our borders...

.....if this is what our elite universities are turning out is there any wonder that our borders are porous?...

.....maybe homeland security should include a "free Speech" police to defend the "First Amendment" on our campuses.....COLOSSUS

Just what I thought!
'Last year, in little-noticed congressional testimony, FBI Director Robert Mueller revealed that "individuals from countries with known al Qaeda connections have attempted to enter the United States illegally using alien smuggling rings and assuming Hispanic appearances." '

Finally! I was wondering what made illegal immigration such a hot-button issue this past spring. I never saw this quote in the paper or online anywhere. Little reported? More like ignored. I suspected this was the case or Washington was trying to divert our attention from something else.

Why Columbia?
"...Col North...radical students at Columbia recently attacked and silenced the "free Speech" of the minutemen who are trying to defend our borders..."

Why are the minutemen at Columbia? There's no border there. Recruiting? Perhaps the students were opposed to "vigilantes" defending the border?

Hey, volunteers defending the border? Great! Immi needs all the help it can get.

Dave
Don't blame the Col. We as Americans all know about our boarders, what have we done about it? Nothing. Some of us , very few have written letters, if we don't flood the offices of the idiots in Washington to tell them what we want, then we are slacking in our duty and should not be gripping about it.Every time I hear of an other bill I like or dislike I write to them. I get back the standard form letter, and just throw it away and keep on writing to let them know I am unhappy. I don't care what party they belong to, they all come out of the same out house. If we would all keep writing and flooding them with mail, they might start or trying to start think about what the people want.

Donaldd
Dang, that Bush Derangement Syndrome probably hurts like a sonovagun. Hope you get better!

Oh Donaldd!
You actually sounded reasonable for a minute there, but then (of course) you had to blow it by calling Ollie North a "liar".

I can't take any more today-
Think I'll go watch a Marx Bros. movie I recorded this morning.
C-ya

And yet...
...NOBODY in DC will do a darn thing about the borders. Predictable.

Donaldd
Do you also support the radical Secular-Progressive Communist in the Democrat Party? People like George Soros, ACLU, radical Jews that control the MSM, radical Jews that control Hollywood, and the members of the judiciary that legislate from the bench. Sure you do because you are at least as smart as I am, so you must know who I am talking about. You are a Secular Socialist at minimum but either way; I call you an un-american thief that believes in the tripe written by Karl Marx.

OTMs
There are many countries people flow from into the US besides Mexico. All immigrants from countries south of Mexico are OTMs and hardly any of those folks have terrorism on their agenda. Very few OTMs are not from North or South America.

Oh boy we need Ted Kennedy
to come up with a plan to handle the boarders. After the election they will need to renew their losses.

The democrat suicide watch starts at 1900 hours, November 7, 2006.

Even with all the democrat multiple, fictitious, and dead voters, they will need the Illegals Voter Rights Act to make up the democrat losses to suicide.

They are here already
Great wake up call Ollie, but what about the possible terrorist who have been in this country for years just waiting for the right moment to act against us. Thanks to our liberal policy of letting these American haters in this country on student visas and not rounding them up when the visa expires we have no idea how many or where they are. Does anyone with half a brain not realize the potential destruction these sleeper cells can cause. When this happens, and IT WILL we will take out our American flags again, start pointing fingers and probably have some more useless hearings and then go back to sleep and pray it doesn't happen again.

NRAlifer
That kept me out of mischief for awhile.
I have a plain .TXT copy of "The Hamas Covenant"
Do you want it?

AND
How do you figure "tanabear"?
Sometimes he writes something logical I agree with every word of and other times he seems like a screaming Liberal. It's like he has a split personality or something, maybe two different authors under one flag?

GET LOCKED AND LOADED
Yes...fellow patriots they are here and as a Texan I'm close to ground zero. With our elected leadership opting out, I have taught my wife, son and daughter all to handle what weapons I have. It's all we can do when our country provides no protection. Plan and be prepaired.
Your survival will depend on it. God is truely
with us and the rightous will win.

To Donaldd at al
I believe you are a sincere and an intelligent person.....but so mis-guided and PLAIN WRONG on issues. I read many of your posts. But, To read this article and then call Col. North a "liar"...and give kudos to MSN on an array of reporting immigration problems is just spin because you dislike(?) Republicans and Bush so much. Let's be honest , there is no argument with many conservatives that Bush has REALLy dropped the ball on this illegal infiltration issue. Amen. I have written to my congressman and my State Senator how upset I am. Vote differently in Nov.....perhaps. But not for Socialists.p.s. DID YOU watch the clip from reporter Lajeunesse ? or only your clips? Just a fair question from someone out here trying to be "balanced". ( Al Gore!!!!! Can you imagine?)

Our government is corrupt
The 2 party system is corrupt. We have Communists as Democrats and Socialists as Republicans. There are a few good folks, but the vast majority have sold out to lobbyists or are controlled by the world government agenda.

Fox news is owned by Rupert Murdoch. He is the same man who came out in support of Hillary Clinton. This guy owns a great deal of media outlets. The rest are not any better. We have very little independant investigation any longer.

I am sorry, I am not trusting anything that Oliver North spouts. I did at one time, but not when he was shown to be a traitor. Have any of you checked into REX-84 that he was instrumental in setting up? You might want to do that.

Our government does not want to do anything about the illegal alien invasion. They want it. They are in the process of merging the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a North American Union. Say goodbye to our Constitution, because the parts that Bush and the Congress has not eviscerated, will soon be gone.

In case you are wondering... I am registered as a Republican and always have been. However, I did that because this party USED to be Conservative and believe in the Constitution. No more. I do not pledge allegiance to a political party or a person. If a person or a party stomps on the Constitution, they are NOT patriotic and do not deserve our support.

its not the government, its you
this is what we get for letting the public school unions and the communist professors take over our kids. while the pols were allowed to steal all your money and by votes from the scum we have let the rich bastards of this country get away with selling us out.
if you want to really know why hitler came to power it was because he was the first man with balls enough to finally do something for the little guy against indulgent decadent upper class narcissists like our cronkite class.
every illegal that comes to this country cuts costs for rich people and increases them for the working man, and what do we do about it?!
we can't go on doing this or there will arise another beast like the schickelgruber with nothing to counter him as he'll be mostly right.
if you think that youre going to make it through the next ten years with the same anonimity youre kidding yourself.
its about to become kill or be killed.
all americans care about these days are their abortions, their medicare and their internet porn.
something is going to give and it aint gonna be pretty.
thank GOD that there are blogs and the internet or we'd be cooked by now.
step one:
become embarassingly political
step two: amass an arsenal
step three: confront liberals wherever you possibly can.

we created the greatest, free-est country in history and what happened? the women killed all their babies, the men bought a vette and some viagra and the kids all just want to get wasted.
kinda makes you wonder if the judgement is upon us.
God save our republic.

its on...

AMERICA
How long America? How long do we wait while DC FIDDLES? Is it time yet to do what must be done or do we give our elected Government a little more time?
If it is TIME; HOW do we accomplish taking our COUNTRY back.
Blood was required to make this country and I fear it will be required again to retake it.
Do we seal the borders? Do we search the Mosques for instruments of warfare or do wait?
Joe McCarthy was right on but our fathers failed to listen. May GOD have mercy on us all.
