Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

With the Obama Administration and the Democrat-led US Congress rolling full steam ahead with their liberal-left agenda, the message continuously bombarding Americans by the elite media -- including some so-called conservative pundits -- is that the Republican Party is in total disunity. Well, many members of the GOP may not agree with that assessment including North Carolina's conservative stalwart Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (N.C.-5).

For example, Americans looking for jobs and struggling to pay bills were disappointed by the "Stimulus" package written by Congressional Democrats and signed by President Obama. The transparency and bipartisanship that President Obama promised the American people was sacrificed to pass a pork-laden bill without any public review or meaningful Republican support.

And so, congressional Republicans, including Rep. Foxx -- one of just 38 Republicans to score a 100 percent approval rating from the American Conservative Union -- voted against this dishonest legislation.

No one could argue that in these difficult economic times, it is imperative that Republicans and Democrats work together to create new jobs and grow the economy. But instead, Congressional Democrats worked behind closed doors to write legislation fell short of creating the promised new jobs, but guaranteed a larger debt burden on Americans' children and grandchildren, argues Foxx and many conservative members of the US Congress.

Republicans were unified in their disagreement with Congressional Democrat leaders and President Obama on the bill. It all came down to this: the overall Democrat plan focuses on putting Americans on the public dole, while the Republican plan of Rep. Foxx and her conservative allies focuses on putting America back to work.

The Republican Party stood ready to work together in a bipartisan manner with the Democrat leaders in Congress and the President. But such a unified approach did not occur, which saddened Rep. Foxx and other Republican lawmakers, and resulted in

“America faces great economic challenges and Congress must take decisive action to stem this economic tide,” Foxx said following her vote against the so called Stimulus package.

“And yet in the face of these challenges Congress has passed a bill that will not effectively help our economy. We can do better,” she said. In the House, not one Republican voted for the taxpayer money give-away.

“This stimulus bill is generational theft—passing on a record-breaking pile of debt to the next generation. Instead of targeting the real sources of job creation, America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs, this legislation is honeycombed with pet projects to satisfy liberal special interests,” she warned.

“We can do better. Americans are hurting and runaway government spending is not the only thing that can fix this recession. A fast-acting and job-creating tax cut-based alternative that I voted for would have created twice the jobs at half the cost. Attempting to borrow and spend our way to prosperity is failed policy. We can do better,” said the three-term congresswoman who serves on the powerful House Rules Committee.

Foxx points out that most people agree that federal spending has been out of control for many years and that the deficit continues to grow daily.

"If we don't do something soon to restrain spending, our children, grandchildren and future generations will be burdened with ever increasing debts. Federal budget deficits are the result of too much spending, not too few taxes. It has long been said that the federal government doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem," said Rep. Foxx.

"Holding spending growth to the rate of inflation or below is common sense and restraining spending will lower the deficit."

And Just Say NO.

Virginia Foxx rocks...
she just doesn't have enough support among her own Republican colleagues.

"TownHall columnists write so many good well researched articles, and there are some very astute comments. So why am I so disappointed? I set myself up by thinking that surely all these wonderful conservative minds care more about saving our nation that anything else on earth right now. But it appears I may be wrong, and they’re just trying to save the Republican Party.

"I have voted Republican 90% of the time for 51 years. Although I am unaffiliated, I have supported Republican candidates, and I have worked in campaigns for Republicans. However, we should care less about the Republican Party just now. Leaders from both parties have brought us to where we now are: fettered by elite globalist bankers through the Wall Street crisis they created."

Of course Bidet-on-tap's idea is illustrated in the following story.

A man with two sons died, leaving them to divide up his posessions which amounted to a female water-buffalo and a blanket. The older son (sub in Bidet-on-tap) proposed a deal where the younger (actual working-class, not pretenders like Bidet-on-tap) would be responsible for the FRONT half of the buffalo and have the blanket during the day while the elder would be responsible for the BACK half and have the blanket at night. You can guess the situation it led to: elder one got all the milk (and dung for fuel) and slept warmly while the younger had to feed the buffalo and wash the blanket.

In other words, they take the expense, while Bidet takes the benefits!

(The younger brother complained to the village sarpanch on this, and was told "well, I can't really FORCE your brother to give you a better deal, but I can suggest ways that YOU can induce him". The shafted brother listened and:
(*) while his brother was milking the buffalo, he pulled her ear--and when she gave the elder a good kick in solar-plexus explained "I was just playing games with my half; YOUR half was the one which kicked you, I'm not responsible for that"
(*) washed the blanket near the end of the day, and handed it to his brother at dusk DAMP
The older one got the message, and suggested they share the milk and that he would use the blanket on odd-number dates while the younger would get it on evens--which still benefitted the elder, but no longer PURELY at the younger's expense)

Reps. just ditched card check this year
Reps. are onboard to help stop cap'n trade (the head of Energy in the House is a bluedog Dem. who is also opposed).

Reps. are working at dismantling some *stimulus* that is designed to reward Dem. interest groups and not stimulate anything.

Write Reps. and tell them it was good only 3 ever voted the stimulus. Write and tell Mitch McConnell that holdng together the Reps. in the Sen. ag. card check was what you wanted.

They are under huge pressure to *compromise* and be *bipartisan,* which to the Left means giving up, so Reps. need to hear from you, and you need to make your feelings known. Writing here is terrific, but you need to write where it will also provoke action.

Now see
if more reps had the b@lls to do this about 8 years ago they would not be a minority now. I hope the republicans can learn from this.

The mere fact that you have raised the issue, gives it a certain legitimacy. One might infer that "Life Support" is being applied. Please say it ain't so! A once great party, victimized by it's own "Stupidity"...

just ditched card check this year
Yes! and thanks to NumbersUSA which makes it so easy to fax Reps and Sens with your own message or one already prepared.

But it won't just go away. Feinstein is looking for a way to get this done "without being so devisive."

Watch 'em like a hawk.

It is greatly exaggerated
Finally someone other then the same people we hear day in and day out are saying it. We have lost our way, we are lost in the wood, the Republicans have no leadership is about as ridiculous as it sounds. I haven't heard one elected Republican say thats it, I'm throwing in the towel. There's nothing left, but to do whatever President Obama wants us to. I can understand why the Democrats says the Republicans have no leaders, but why would Conservatives and Republicans repeat it so much as if they agree. It's as if whatever the Republicans do it's not good enough, because they have been labeled as being with no leaders by the same people who say it day in and day out. It's the Democrats whose trying to condition the voters to think the Republicans have no leaders or that their done for. What purpose would those in the Republican party have for doing the same thing. There can be only one answer to that. They want the voters to see them as the leaders and not the people we have elected to lead.

GOP demise deserved
I was a Republican but am now an independent. I can no longer give myself to the same people who threw me under the bus during W's second term. No way, no how.

The Republican Party has strayed left of center and needs to get back to its conservative roots. If the Dimwitcrats are Socialist/Marxists the Republicans are Socialist-light. I am tired of the promises from bought and paid for hucksters like McCain, Huckabee and Romney. Palin will be more of the same. McCain trotting out his budget plan today was an embarrassment of epic proportions. Is he kidding? He ran arguably the most uninspiring, inept campaign ever and did irreparable damage to his party.

The party is is no way representative of my core beliefs which I believe to be far closer to those of our founding fathers than the current Republican representatives. We have become a one party system separated only by the deceptions engaged by in to acquire power. The demise may be exaggerated, but it is only because people have not learned the game has changed and will continue to be suckered in.

Please understand that your life and others will be destroyed,if you try to cause problems. This economy is going to be "Changed" or "Destroyed". It will up to you and the other "Dummies" to make a choice. Furthermore, you don't have much. If you can't write a check for at least $10,000,000.00,shut up!

killer
when you write YOUR check for $10,000,000.00 I'll give you an address to send it to. Until then, if you can't appreciate the differences between a capitalist economy and a fascist economy (sorry, forgot about your Public School education) you really shouldn't be trying to run with the big dogs. Better to keep your yipping little puppy @ss on the porch and do what your kind does best-keep licking yourself.

excellent point about RINO demise
re:
"It's very hard to go out and sell conservatism, by which I mean getting government out of people's lives, when conservatives vote for all kinds of laws that take money from one family and give it to another."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The thing I most fault Dubya for is that he and the other RINOS/CINOS spent $ like born-again Crats! He embraced the boondoggle Rx Care for Seniors, 90% of whom had no semblance of a need for further guvment intrusion. The total tab on that ripoff will be HORRENDOUS.

Worse still, he willfully embraced ILLEGALS for his miscreant employer business cronies and drank the stupid brew by imagining that conservatives could garner some of their votes due to supposed "conservative socïal values."

What, pray tell, is conservative about penchants toward crime, identity and tax fraud, gangs, social service decimation, barrio blight, dropouts, illegitimacies, and other pandemic social pathologies?!

Is he saying Repukes are still alive?
I echo the comments of many others on this thread. I have no confidence in, or trust left, for Republicans. They are saying what they think we want to hear now because they have been made orphans.

Ronaldus Maximus Reagan blazed the path for these people and set them up to achieve a return to the founding dream of limited government. After taking congress in 1994 the Repukes said, just wait until we also have the presidency. Then we put the Chimpmeister in the office. He faithfully added to his father's great work and totally destroyed the party.

They all make me sick and it is depressing to realize they can't be counted upon.

None of this has a good end. When people like us finally realize our grievances do not have a political solution, the outcome will not be pretty.

LOVE Me some Foxx
Virginia or Vivica. I love Virginia because she shows me that she can deal with reality. I love Vivica because she knows that she is fine, and that nothing else matters. Well there is something else that matters more than being fine, and Mrs. Foxx (R-NC)is right. It's called Conservatism. The problem for Republicans is reducing a Trillion dollar budget by a Billion Dollars, Blamming GW, Voting for Punitive Taxes on the American People, shows that Mrs. Foxx and House Repub's can not stand as long as Specter, Snowe, Collins, and the rest of the "Cross The Isle Folks" are in the Senate. The people have figured out that Republicans are Democrats too. I hope Mrs. Foxx can change that perception, but I believe it has become reality. Mrs. Foxx(R)maybe fine, but most of the guys in her Party just don't get it. "You have got to give the Power to the People".

conservatives
until the money is taken out of the election process our representatives are always going to be beholden to their corporate campaign benefactors and masters. its as simple as that. mccain-feingold was a good start but nooo we can't have that. that violates freedom of speech right? so you really don't have anything to b!tch about. the politicians are just dancing with who brung 'em.

The RINO Threat
Every time I start my computer, turn on my TV, or listen to the radio, I hear the same thing, Conservatives must change to survive.

It is important to understand who is promoting this propaganda--the left-wing socialist Democrats of course. They include MSM (Yes even that bastion of hate filled conservatives at fox.), political pundits from all media, and left wing politicians in the Democratic party (These days that is just about all who call themselves Democrats). I almost never watch or listen to radical left media but in todays society that is impossible unless one becomes a recluse.

The socialists know the RINOs in the Republican party are destroying the Party. They are only happy to help the RINOs complete their mission of destruction from within; providing the socialists with no opposition in their rush to destroy America and all it stands for.

Well, conservatives are not the problem. Conservativism is the Republican parties only hope for the future and the RINOs along with the left-wing of the Democratic party know this. That is why they are attacking and promoting anti-conservative propaganda by claiming disent and confusion in the Republican ranks.

But, the real question I have is; if the conservative opposition knows this, why doesn't the Republican Party.

...GOP Demise...
Unless the Republicans return to core conservatism, they are dead meat. The present Republican party is, after all, the entity which did more than any other to bring us to the slippery brink of the socialist cesspool.

Fallacy
Why turn to people who know nothing for help? Not many congresscritters have ever run a business or made payroll. If they had they would know that you don't just create jobs out of thin air. Unemployment is a symptom of an entrepreneur deficit. Improve business conditions and the rest follows.

A Confederacy of Dunces
As someone here wisely said:

"It's very hard to go out and sell conservatism, by which I mean getting government out of people's lives, when conservatives vote for all kinds of laws that take money from one family and give it to another."

It's even harder to sell conservatism, by which some mean getting government out of people's lives, when so many other conservatives are so eager to get government into other people's lives. The dirty little secret of most conservatives in America is that they really DO want government involved in the lives of others--to control them, to prevent them from doing anything conservatives don't like. And as that becomes less secret and better known, the fortunes of the GOP wane.

The mopes on this site all claim they want "people who've made a payroll" to be running things. If a smart business exec was running the GOP he/she would position the party just to the right of Obama and siphon off the greatest possible amount of support and potential votes. To run way to the right of him is pointless and indulgent and maximizes (as in "Ronald Maximus Reagan") the likelihood of failure. But hey, you're not interested in results, you're only interested in doing what feels good, right?

Bruce
Ah yes, Ronald Reagan was such a failure.

What are you? A Gingrich pramatist, whose only concern is for what sells politically.\

Reagan connected with people's spirits, and he made them not only proud to be Americans again after the debacle of the Carter years, but made them believe our best days were still ahead.

All you seem to be interested in is getting socialists to vote for you.

If someone stands on first principles, and is believable and credible, a tremendous earth-shaking movement will be reborn. Your approach is the road the Repukes have been taking for years and look what it's gotten us.

reply to John in Va
Of all the real republicans, who lost their seats in Congress, your state and the House of Representatives loss of Virgil Goode, was the hardest to take for me. Just shows what happens when you stand on principle too often. the RNC puts you on the hit list and you are on your own, come re-election.Fortunately, the good people of Walter Jones (R)NC., were able to save his seat, as he was a non loyal Republican, for putting principal over politics. If 2004 to 2008 did not make the RNC and the "powers that be" , see that the neo con RHINO wing of the party is not going to win nothing will and we all will suffer. I don't even want to see the word "conservative"
any more, it has lost not only it's meaning,
under the Bush Administration, but it's identity.
