Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

When I was told I'd be on the Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" debating Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. about the contentious issue of oil consumption and Barack Obama's refusal to consider offshore drilling or nuclear energy, I really looked forward to the exchange. After all, how many times does one have a chance to have a frank and open exchange with one of the true high priests of the shrill global warming crowd?

Meeting him in the Fox News Channel's green room before the appearance, I began to have some concerns. I'm the kind of guy who likes to have a little friendly banter, even with someone I disagree with. Mr. Kennedy pretty clearly does not, at least not with me. I asked him how his uncle Ted was doing, joked about us being invited to be on the "early morning" shift that day (our appearance aired at 6:15am), and did everything I could to try and establish that, contrary to the way many liberals believe, a conservative like me doesn't have any horns or fangs.

He wasn't buying it.

To describe Mr. Kennedy as aloof might be the understatement of the century. The Kennedy family might be a lot of things, but for RFK, Jr., "warm and fuzzy" doesn't exactly come to mind.

And the ice didn't thaw much once we got out onto the set and began the segment. The host directed the first question to him and he launched into a fairly lengthy monologue that reflected his many years of leading the "let's go green" brigade.

When he got to the part about how the United States should be more like countries like Iceland and Costa Rica in terms of energy conservation, I couldn't take it any more. As I finally got to speak my mind about the scare tactics of Kennedy's disciples on the loony left -- those who bellow about carbon footprints, a "planet in peril", the evil Republicans like me who believe in drilling in just about every square inch of our country so that we don't have to pay 10 dollars a gallon some day -- the look of rage on Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s face was priceless.

If I thought he didn't like me much in the greenroom, he positively loathed me out there in that TV studio.

Click here to see the segment. I think you'll enjoy it.

And I realized that this is a man who is probably rarely, if ever, challenged in public or private. The global warming hysterics don't just offer opinions and beliefs about greenhouse gases and the like. These are people who speak as if they belong to a cult.

Yet many of them are hopelessly hypocritical.

As angry as Kennedy was with me, I decided not to remind him of his well-publicized opposition to wind-powered turbines near the Kennedy compound at Cape Cod, Massachusetts because it would spoil the view.

I really thought he might become unhinged.

This week on my radio show, I interviewed Drew Johnson of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. It seems Mr. Johnson and his organization decided to do a little digging into the emperor of the global warming crowd, Tennessee's own Al Gore.

The leftist world has thrown countless rose petals at the feet of the failed presidential candidate over his relentless and aggravating campaign to scare everyone into thinking the planet is about to explode any day now into a big ball of fire because of our SUV's and double-plied toilet paper.

But the award-winning former vice-president was busted over the energy-guzzling mansion he lives in with his wife, Tipper in the Nashville area. Perhaps you remember seeing the internet sensation, "A Tale of Two Houses." One house, a modest ranch-style home, featured tons of energy-efficient features and cutting edge technology; the other, just a nice, big, ordinary mansion that soaked up electricity like a sponge does with water. The punchline? The modest, energy-smart ranch is owned by President Bush in Crawford, Texas. The energy-obnoxious mansion is owned by one Albert Gore of Nashville, Tennessee.

So what's the grand poo-bah of the "planet-in-peril" crowd to do? Clearly embarrassed by "A Tale of Two Houses", Gore spent a bunch of money installing solar panels, a geothermal system, new windows, and other supposedly efficient measures.

A year after he made the eco-friendly changes, Drew Johnson and his group decided to check out the Gore household electric bill. Their findings: in the year AFTER all these fancy changes were made, the Gores actually consumed 10% more energy than before. They pay thousands and thousands of dollars a year on their electric bill, enough to power hundreds of average American houses.

The rank hypocrisy of the global warming fanatics is simply galling.

I suggested that the Tennessee Center for Policy Research should commit to a new project: tracking just how many trips Gore has taken on big, fat, energy-guzzling private jets in order to give speeches for which he pulls down 100 thousand dollars -- or more -- a pop.

You see, there is simply no defending the preferred mode of travel for many of the celebrity crazies who lecture us about carbon credits. Do you think these folks are willing to give up their mansions and private jets in order to "save the planet?"

It's not going to happen.

I've come to the conclusion that many of these people are mentally ill. They won't accept any rational opposition, scientific or otherwise, that refutes the global warming theory. Drew Johnson reported that after his organization first revealed Al Gore's electric bill to the general public, his group received a number of death threats. Their computers were hacked. Phoned obscenities were common.

I guess violence, vandalism, and profanity go hand-in-hand with the type of people who brag about driving around in a go-cart that they plug into their garage every night.

Sen. John McCain is obviously correct in calling for off-shore drilling, harnessing nuclear power, and abolishing the federal gas tax. Sen. Barack Obama is obviously wrong in opposing off-shore drilling, nuclear power, and, like any good liberal, loves the federal gas tax.

Could this presidential election really be up for grabs?

Man-made global warming is a hoax
Yes, the sun is getting hotter. This was documented in a book back in the early 60s called "The Birth and Death of the Sun." We have known for quite some time that stars like our sun have a natural cycle. We know that the sun will eventually become so hot that life on earth will be impossible. None of us here today have to worry about this: it will take millions of years. But it won't happen overnight either. What we are seeing is the natural evolution of stars. The warming caused by man's lifestyle accounts for only a miniscule fraction of temperature change. The global warmies criticize attempts to generate more energy because it will have "such little effect" but ignore the little effect man's lifestyle has on current temps. Hypocrisy does indeed abound.

Do as
I say, not as I do. Mantra of the 'Greenies'

Faith Based Science and Other Myths
The accompanying photo to the left titled "Smoke is emitted from a factory area in Kobe, Japan" looks exactly like water vapor to me. I've seen the same scam pulled many times in the press, some photos even show a very clear picture of the cooling tower that the "smoke" water vapor is rising from. Since when has water, even in the vapor form, been a problem pollutant?
We need to educate our kids in science. The problem is the same science teacher also preaches the claptrap dogma of manmade CO2 causing climate change.
What is the content of CO2 in the atmosphere anyway - 0.00038%? We are suposed to credit such an amount with catastrophic climate change unless our government, at our expense, tries to solve the mythical problem?

LIAR
I saw the last part of this and the first thing I noticed was the pure lies that Kennedy spewed in making sure he got out the Commiecrats talking points. Can’t drill out of this, need to conserve, need renewables, et al. Nuclear is not safe, the insurance industry doesn’t think nuclear is safe, can’t get insurance. Hahahahaha. He is either a colossal liar or he doesn’t have the faintest idea what Price-Anderson does. He maintains that big lie myth that Price-Anderson is some kind of subsidy for the Nuclear Industry that is being paid for by the tax payers.

Basically what Price-Anderson currently does is limit the total liability and split that liability between the operating nuclear plants to a ceiling limited amount near a 100 million per plant. After that the feds will come in to pay damages, after congress authorizes the payments. So far the only payouts for this have come from Three Mile Island and those never reached the ceilings. BTW, the need for this only comes about because the tort system in out country is broken. People around 3 Mile Island were paid claims that were entirely specious. There was no property damage at 3 Mile Island or health hazard, unless tripping over the hundreds of ambulance chasing lawyers is a hazard. In short, Price-Anderson does not cost the tax payer a single dime and is not a subsidy. And one should try taking a deduction or off-set for building a nuke plant in the back yard. Now that would be a subsidy, just try it.

Another thing this idiot liar said was that “off-shore drilling” was a State’s Rights” issue. Hahahahah, that from a commiecrat. Then he said “free market capitalism” is what we need. Hahahahaha, that is the LAST thing the Commiecrats want. I would love that. Now the commies are for State’s Rights and Free Market Capitalism! Talk about the big lie.

BTW, the link doesn’t work you have to paste it in a separate page and edit it.

The New Morality
Impregnate as many women as you can, spread deadly disease indiscriminately, create children at will that will be killed for convenience, bring countless numbers of chidren into life so they can live in poverty - and make hard orking Americans pay for it all. But just don't create carbon dioxide! This is a moral issue!

Mark My Words
It seems as though with the MSM unable to totally set the parameters of the debate, word is slowly trickling out that there is less of a consensus on global warming than we were led to believe in An Inconvenient Truth.

Paying $4.00+ per gallon at the pump is making people a little scratchy, and maybe a little less happy go lucky about the idea of centi-millionaires traveling by private Gulfstream and limos while telling us to conserve, sacrifice, and that windfarms (except in their backyards, of course)are the answer.

Trust me, the left and the media will (1) supress, supress, supress (2) deny, deny, deny and (3) when the word finally is widespread that this is not an earth shattering crisis and we are paying $5.00 per gallon for gas in the meantime, the new mantra will be "Global Climate Change".

This, or words like it, will be used to justify the idea that it really doesn't matter whether we're cooling off or warming up. They'll say that the fact we don't really know is even more compelling evidence to live in yurts. Man is killing the earth and the same leftist remedies will apply.

kL
Actually Gallagher could barely get a word in because, as usual, the liberal liars (LL for short) dominated the media.

It is a shame that Kennedy is a liar, but I guess it runs in the family.

There is no one so blind as ...........
There is no one so blind as those who will not see! Add in snooty, rich family, rich people, Hollywood & Entertainers, and those with the AIDS Syndrome (you cannot Argue with Ignorance nor Debate with Stupidity), and you have you typical far left Liberal Dumbocrat dominating the Democratic party. It is a shame. I am 66. Over the years I have voted for numerous moderate Democrats. But, where the heck are they today? I wish Liberman was running for President!!!! I'd know who to vote for! IMHO!

Hypocracy
There is a surprising "chicken" in this debate and it is Old Super Mouth,,,Bill O'Reilly. When he interviewed Kennedy he was cowed by that stuttering moron Kennedy. No tough questions about busy schedules and his, Kennedys' compulsive use of Private Jets to get him to his very important appointments. Of course "they" are different, doing the peoples business. This lot, the Kennedys, et al. truly believe that they are Royalty innured from the societal norms that govern the great unwashed public

"Subject: We need more CO2"

"There is no correlation between CO2 and temperature beyond its minimal capacity to increase the residence time of thermal energy in the atmosphere.

"That said, if we really are entering a period of cooling (which seems quite probable given the recent switch of the PDO into its negative phase and the very quiescent sun with its lack of sun spots) then we need all the CO2 we can get to mitigate the negative effects of cooling on agriculture and growing seasons. Contrary to frauds like NASA's James Hansen, CO2 levels are at the lowest they have been in over 3 million years. CO2 is the plant food that bolsters and sustains the photosynthesis process. When levels get below 200 ppm (we're only at 380 ppm now) plants go into stasis meaning they can't grow and die off.

"The wacko alarmists always tout that CO2 is higher than it's been in 650,000 years like that is something significant. Well, we've been in ice age conditions for 2-3 million years and that is why the levels have been low. Prior to that they normally were at least 4 to 5 times what they are now. Do you realize that 650K years amounts to less than 1% of earth's history? C'mon, put perspective into what these Green Shirts in Grass Skirts are saying and see that they are little more than anti-science primitives dancing around the fire to appease the earth gods. Only in this case, the virgin they want to throw into the crater is our economy. DON'T LET THEM."

Ah, but they're winning
What does it matter if most of what they say is absolute tripe? Everywhere you go now, there are green ads and messages: TV, newspapers, magazines, online, all pushing this idea. And,all of our politicians spout this nonsense in one form or another. They may not say the actual words 'global warming," but what do people think the "climate change" mantra is about? I'm not surprised (nor consequently disappointed) by the politicians, or members of the media: they have jobs, they want to make money, they do their thing. But, I am disappointed in the American people...I've never felt that way before. There was a time when people would have enough of whatever nonsense was being put about and drive this drivel back into the shadows where it belongs(like in the '70's when all of the learned people knew we were going into a new ice age because CO2 emissions were blocking the sun's rays or some such nonsense). Not anymore. Now, we sit and gripe and sit and gripe some more and then something new comes along, and like a bunch of magpies we're distracted by whatever it is and the nutjobs get to go on doing their thing. And, when some new law comes along further curtailing the freedoms of Americans and the definition of America we sit and gripe and sit and gripe some more and...oooh! something shiney!

Gallager should have..

Mike should have brought up the resistance to wind turbines by the Kennedys. They work well, take no natural resourses, but one must not spoil yhe royal view.

It's OK for Texas and New Mexico, but not Cape Cod.

Hypocrisy On Parade - Part One

Everyone knows how frugal the Kennedys and the Gores are, but what of other colossal hypocrites who see fit to upbraid us for our consumption? How about John Travolta, for example?

I’ll never forget the picture of John Travolta’s pad in Florida. It’s another huge mansion with four SUV’s parked out front next to a sports car, and two jets parked out back – one of which appears to be a Boeing 707 four-engine jetliner. Who knows what’s parked in the huge garage. Travolta actually owns five jet aircraft in which he has flown over 30,000 miles in the last year. The carbon emissions, from the jets alone, tally up to over 800 tons. The mansion looks like a small hotel and one can only imagine what the energy bill is to air condition and run all the toys in that puppy.

People like Al Gore, John Travolta, Madonna, and thousands like them, are utter, blatant hypocrites. They expect us to curtail our lifestyles for the sake of the planet, yet they indulge themselves in every possible excess that tickles their fancy. There’s no reason for Travolta to own five jet aircraft other than he can. Fine. I don’t begrudge him his passion. I do, however, get thoroughly ticked off when he starts lecturing us about our excesses.

Hypocrisy On Parade - Part Two

I live in a very modest home in New England and drive a Honda Accord. My wife drives a Civic. I do however have a passion that fuels MY excesses. Motor racing. I have a replica 427 Shelby Cobra which I drive to Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and other racing venues to spectate at what is, to me, the greatest sport on the planet. I don’t NEED to do that. I could watch the events on Speed, but then John could take commercial flights instead of flying his own 707 with three people aboard.

I’ll tell you what. I’ll make a deal with you, Mr. John “Flyboy” Travolta, Robert "Do you know who I am?" Kennedy and Al “Duh planet has a feevuh” Gore. When you give up your private jets, your SUV’s, your palaces, your yachts, your unbridled consumption, and then move into a modest house, I’ll sell my Cobra. Until then, shut your pie holes about other people’s excesses and do exactly what you want the rest of us to do.

Drilling
Why aren't they drilling on nearly 32 million of acres they already have under lease from the Federal government. I think they should drill there first-- in areas where the infrastructure for transporting oil already exists-- before demanding more areas be open to leasing and drilling activities that could take years to produce a single drop of oil.

Gore & Kennedy is alike "Do as I say not like I do". As far as the carbon tax if it passes everyone that owns planes, live in Million dollar homes should pay the tax not the ordinary tax payer. After all the Hollywood stars & our elite officials are the problem and they have the guts to blame the ordinary people.

I see the Killjoy Kommies are
on here repeating the talking point lies

Not drilling on existing leases - hahahhaha, this has been refuted over and over. They are drilling everywhere that oil has been FOUND, saying anything else is another LIE

Kimbat Kommie - what do you need as link for you'll just make up more lies. Read my post.

Kimberly

I would say bad link,
since anyone can google if they REALLY want to find something.

If you were searching for oil, you never would find it with that approach.

I'm freezing...
...here in Wisconsin. We've just endured the coldest winter in many years, followed by the coldest and wetest spring I can remember. When's this "global heresey" gonna kick in?? Or is it just a royal pain in the buttockul area like it's daddy, Alagorical?

Good interview Mike..
Here's what the nutcases at Newshound have to say:

Here's the actual critic:

http://www.newshounds.us/2008/06/18/mike_gallagher_cant_kee p_up_with_robert_kennedy_jr_on_fox_news.php

They say JFK Jr. wiped the floor with Mike. Then you watch the video and it's the other way around....

I watched
the youtube video and if you close your eyes RFK sounds like Katharine Hepburn.

Another day of fishing...
Well, time to bait the hook and see how the liberal fishing is today.

CHALLENGE: Who will step forward and assert that the oil deposits off the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf coast of American WILL NEVER BE DEVELOPED and will remain right where they lie in internation waters until the end of time.

...I'll stop by later to check my fishing pole...

Your Most Humble, etc.

George Washington

Carbon Mouth-Print
I wonder if these Gore-Bull Warmies ever wake from their pot induced stupor long enough to realize how much gas is eminating from their pie holes?

Robert Kennedy Jr.
Mr. Kennedy is naturally confused, since he has been brainwashed to imagine that Republicans killed his father.

I wonder if he has ever stopped to consider that his father may have been the first American victim of Islamic Terror?

Maybe, if the son of RFK ever stopped long enough to rub two brain cells together, he might bless the Republicans for finally addressing the issue instead of continuing to sweep it under the carpet.

Sounds Logical to me.
Everyone seems to have debate fever or fervor. Let's get basic. We need oil and we need it now. I don't care about "draining the swamp"...the alligators are eating my legs off. Get the environmental alligators off my body--spray them down with some nice crude oil and cool them off.
And while we are getting more oil into production (can I say oil sands and oil shale in Utah?) Get the value of our dollar under control. Congressional spending has made our dollar worth about .50. Get the dollar back and the price of oil goes down accordingly.

The politicians and environmentalists are playing the old shell game. Wake up America.

Y2K Amplified
That's all global warming is.

Already millions of dollars are being poured into this myth. Just like many people took away millions from the Y2K scare.

But the largest danger to our country, is taking our eye off the real ball of nuclear proliferation to focus on a climate fantasy.

At such a time in our history, I think it is imperative that we focus our time, energy, resources and attention on those things that matter most.

And surely, Global Warming is way down at the bottom of my priority list.

Loss of Control
People like these are used to having their own way in everything -- like the brat rolling on the floor of the toy story, shrieking and flailing her arms, they are incapable of listening to reason or logic because all they want is their own way.

The other side of the coin is that people like Al Gore and Robert Kennedy Jr. are used to being in control. People who believe that they and their bank accounts can accomplish everything and anything -- and now they have run into the first things in their lives that they cannot buy or grab...and they absolutely hate it.

If they cannot lean on the arms of Jesus, or anything more than their own power and influence, they cannot handle the fact that earthly means will fail them and there isn't a thing they can do about it. They cannot write a letter to the Times, or buy a judge or congressman, and all the scientists in the world cannot make the kind of magic money can buy ... the waters will sweep away the Kennedy Compound just the same as it will sweep away the hut of a mountaineer. When a volcano erupts, it will bury in lava the home of Al Gore and the trailer of Ma and Pa Kettle with complete indifference.

THAT is what these guys absolutely hate.

When my sister was four years old we had a massive blackout. Sis was at the time listening to a recording of Old MacDonald Had a Farm that she had developed an obsession about when the power went out, and she started yelling that she wanted to hear her Old McDonald record. Mama explained to her about the fact that the record player needed electricity and we didn't have any and so on and so forth, and Sis listened carefully.

And at the end of the explanation she said *I wanna hear my Old MacDonald Record.*

This has become a family saying now for someone who insists on having something that she cannot have, in the face of all reality.

And methinks that at this time Robert Kennedy Jr. and Al Gore, et al., just wanna hear their Old MacDonald Record.

The Sky is Falling!!!
It is absolutely pathetic listening to the liberal loons and the environmentalist whacko's spew this garbage. I Love the "The Debate is over crap"... We haven't had a debate. Loon Gore (he invented the internet you know), Runs out with this insane theory (which BTW his group of crackpot scientist leave out solar activity from their computer models (it screws up the data they want people to see)) about global warming, and before anyone, can debate with him, he states the debate is over.

Comrad Gore should talk with the President of the Czech Republic, or one of the world's top authorities Bjorn Lomborg. Why won't little Al talk to these people. Oh, that's right, the debate is over. Why is it, that the appeaser "let's talk to our enemies", party (aka. the democrats) won't talk to others who offer a different view on this stupidity?

At the end of the day, I say, "Al, and the rest of you loons, go first. Show us how good it feels to live in a mud hut with no electricity, no running water, no insecticides or pesticides, just live off the land, like the cave men did. And let the rest of us know how that works out for you.

Kennedy is as foolish as his Unca Ted
Robbie Kennedy Jr. touts Iceland as a role model for our energy policies.

Iceland has a population less than that of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Is this dufus for real?

Kennedy, like the vast majority of liberals, are dead set against wind power, nuclear, shale oil, coal gassification, hydroelectric, and new drilling. Their solution? Let's grow biofuels instead of food, or, as Kennedy quavered about in the video, geothermal drilling. Smirk. Just try to get that proposal by the greenies.

Global Warming Hypocrites
I happened to see your Fox News segment with RFK Jr. He was very sullen, nearly hostile, and wouldn't get off his tired old script to actually debate the issue. He was obviously not happy about being there, and I wondered at the time - why did he agree to appear with you on Fox News?

But Gore's Gas...
In a recent article in the Nashville newspaper- The Tennessean, which I cannot quickly locate in my recycle pile- staff at Al's mansion here in Nashville have countered the electricity consumption complaint by referring to his gas bill which has shown a 40% (if memory serves me correctly) decrease. That was presented as a "So there!"

If Al Gore (or any other of the others profiterring from "Chicken Little" plot lines) were truly using a conservationist's model amount of energy of any and all kinds, you can be assured their monthly statements would be published regularly.

Why All the Fuss Over Greenhouse Gases?
Why not just detonate thermonuclear weapons at a test site somewhere, sending smoke and dust into the mesosphere and dimming the skies? The TTAPS study proved that such a thing would reduce worldwide temperatures.

Kennedy.
Your problem was that you thought you were equal to a Kennedy. You are not. Nor is anyone reading this column.

They are better than anyone else and none of the rules, of any kind, apply to them.

He didn't give a rats rear end who you were or what you were going to say. You, my friend, are much lower class than he. He did not even want to be in the same room with you. He would have prefered a remote exchange. You work for a living, he does not have to.

And you kool-aid drinking John McCain supporters wonder why the public is so clueless to the hypocrisy of the left AND right. Duh!!

Next time, how about you ack tough IN FRONT of a crazy liberal instead of from behind your microphone. That would at least be a step in the right direction.

baseball doc...
....Yakmud sounds too Jewish, sure it's not Achmed the Drover?

ICELAND????
I watched the video. As with most of these types of discussion, it is not easy to say who won or lost. However, it is clear that RFK Jr made the most irrelevant reference: It is fine to suggest that the US should attain energy independence, but to cite Iceland as an example is just plain idiotic. Of course Iceland is able to get all of its energy from geothermal source; it is a tiny country on top of 3 volcanoes.
I agree with others here who mention that Gallagher should have mentioned the Cape Cod windmill project. The pure hypocrisy of RFK Jr on that matter is astounding.

Same Conservatives, different issues
You know back in the 60's Conservatives were the first to buy all those bogus reports about the dangers of smoking. I could imagine if there were bloggers back then some of them saying I have an uncle who is 90 and he has been smoking a pack a day everyday.

But then something happened the evidence become overwhelming and the stories of how the Tabacco executives knew all along about the dangers and fakes the studies, shopped for experts who would agree with them and lied under oath to congress in the meantime a whole new generation became addicted to cigarettes that we later found were actually designed to enhance addiction.

So the same will likely happen with global warming and once again Conservatives will give no apologies for ignoring the science and the obivious to promote the agenda of corporate interests.

Do I think that there are many liberal environmentalists who demonstrate hypocracy sure they do including Kennedy on the Wind Turbines off of Cape Cod. That said I would like to hear from some conservative environmentalists who acknowledge the real problem but believe the best solutions are ones that promote private sector innovation rather than harsh regulation.

Gore was right about there being a real problem, but it is the right that if it ever acknowleges the problem will be the source of better solutions.

1maschrom..
...AMEN!!! That would have been fun to watch and fun to see how the pinko leftie sites spin it. He did look like he was going to come unhinged at any moment, OR was it a look of "JUST YOU WAIT until Obama is Prez! We will make YOU PAY for being so arrogant!"

Global Warming Killed Dinosaurs.
Most theories regarding the demise of the giant lizards know as dinosaurs have focused on climate change cause by a catastrophic geological even such as a meteorite. My calculations prove otherwise. Estimating the dinosaur population and the average lung capacity of these giant reptiles, I am convinced that they did themselves under by breathing. Yes, BREATHING! The dinosaurs exhaled so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that they caused the greenhouse effect that killed them all off. Believe it or not!

Time's up on the liers!
Mike Gallagher, I agree whole-hearted with you!
Times up for the Al and his company of liars!
Pat Schroeder blocked the building of Two Forks thirty years ago - and subsequently we have an almost insurmountable water problem in CO.
Our water and land use has been taken hostage by lawsuits generated by left over brain-cell killed on drugs hippies, eco-fascists and communists. They want to move/live here - BUT - sue like hell when it comes to building anything that would capture and provide water for them.
G.W. Bush should exercise an executive order, demanding Al Gore, Bruce Babbitt, Steve McCormick, the CEO’s of Sierra Club, Earthjustice et al, come out of hiding…and publicly either defend or shut up about their defective nation destroying products!
They should no longer enjoy the luxury of their sneaky-behind the doors policy making.
I’m old and have a high tolerance level…but… my patience with these lying SOB’s has run out.
In today’s RMN’s, talk show guy Jay Marvin, blasted Bob Schaffer on oil. Now I happen to have witnessed first hand, Mr. Marvin’s lying abilities. He’s good.
Marvin’s also an excellent sampling of the characters we have to deal with in America. In about 1999 - he “visited” Cuba. He should of stayed there.
Yes, freedom of speech should be supported. The lies should be sorted off and killed.
How do these liars gain so much credibility…and so many defenders?
I want them to meet my guys at the corral; let’s have a show down once and for all!

JMO51
Since you obviously believe in global warming, you would have no opposition to the detonation of five hundred megatons' worth of thermonuclear weapons at the Nellis Nuclear Testing Site in order to counteract global cooling?

JM051
"But then something happened the evidence become overwhelming and the stories of how the Tabacco executives knew all along about the dangers and fakes the studies"

What does smoking have to do with AGW? How many strawmen will you create? Besides, state like Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas, and Tennesse and Georgia were until very recently Democratic states. Big Tobacco is now a goverment run subsidiary (which the Dems and thier lawyers profit from very nicely).

JMO51
"So the same will likely happen with global warming and once again Conservatives will give no apologies for ignoring the science and the obivious to promote the agenda of corporate interests."

Conservatives didnt ignore the science behind the anti-smoking movement, they pointed out the totalitarian tendencies and the whacko conspiracy theories of the zealots who were trying to force people to give up smoking. These same zealots are now trying to attack the fast food industry and discount retailers. The 'science' behind Global Warming is so faulty (the current 10 year decline in temperatures and the decline in ocean temperatures, for instance) that its advocates have switched to calling it 'climate change' as they line up in a Stalinist chorus to label everything from rain in the Midwest to salmonella in tomatoes a result of our sinful consumerist lifestyle. They also ignore the contempt with which this nonsense is treated by China and India, who are now creating more pollution than everyone else. This is a fraud designed to make the failed policies of government control of the economy sound rational. It is a recipe for national poverty.

No cigar, Gallagher

McCain's as big a hypocrite as anyone on this issue. Yeah, he's now flip-flopped on offshore drilling, a totally meaningless sop and bit of eyewash for conservatives, as he knows all the states involved will block any efforts to do so, since they're all liberal states. So he can look "reasonable" on the issue without really changing one thing.

I'll be more impressed when I see him advocate drilling in ANWR. Maybe THEN you'll truly have something to brag on for your guy.

And McCain's proposal for nuke plants; I mean, c'mon! Those things won't be online until 2030 -- that's 22 YEARS from now! And that's assuming the Greenies don't stop the whole idea in its tracks with a bunch of lawsuits.

To top it off, McCain's Cap and Trade proposal is an absolute economy-killer.

We as a people are simply screwed this time around, as there's NO ONE from either party who's proposing one single thing that'll address the issue of getting more oil out of the ground and into our gas tanks.

Vic
The title of this column is REDUNDANT! The Column itself is SPOT ON! I think Al Gore started sweating more as he got FATTER. THAT is where his belief in Global Warming comes from.

So many great posts!
Q: How many facts does it take to convert a liberal?

A: N/A. Liberals don't consider facts.

If liberals aren't a group of deceived cult members I am at a loss to reason otherwise.

He only need to add one thing to the
title and that is "And Liars". Of course I added it with my post so he's ok.

Skep41 response to JM051
Yep.
I've said this for years. But, since I smoke people kind of blow me off. And, when I use other examples like seatbelt laws and helmet laws, they really tune out. I tell them they should be mad when laws are passed punitively discriminating against even groups they're not part of because it might be their turn next. And, they roll their eyes and go on. We've become so used to politicians doing things "for our own good" that we don't even question it anymore. Whenver I hear a politician say his job is to make my life better, or I should trust him to take care of me, my blood runs cold. There's a car commercial featuring characters called sheeple. I don't know about the car part, but the sheeple thing is dead on accurate.

A psych heuristic.
When someone is preemtively hostile, distant, ridiculing, or generally insulting, they're afraid. Such is just one trait of of ego-soaked people who espouse philosophies they inherentely know are lies.

If I were Mr. Gallagher, I would have gone for the proverbial jugular during the debate, and then watched the meltdown.

And your right, Mike. Liberalism is a mental illness.

O'Reilly is part of the problem
Despite being constantly reviled as a "conservative" by the DailyKos crowd, Ol' Bill is on their side with this issue. He calls himself an environmentalist, promotes the Brazil sugarcane solution and actually said "We can't drill our way out of this," the other night. He might have said more, but that particular phrase automatically triggers the mute button on my remote.

Al Gore's "consensus" on global warming exists only in MSM newsrooms and among the zombies who rely on them for information. The scientific community largely believes that the sun heats the earth and the effect of CO2 is minuscule. But who wants to read peer-reviewed papers when you can see stranded polar bears on the network news?

The sky is neither falling nor warming.

Spread the news.

a psych heuristic
I treat SPMI in a community mental health center. And, on their behalf: I think it's terribly unfair for you to group them in with liberals...after all, as all psychotics know: facts are slippery things. It's not delusion, it's real. And, yes, they are out to get you no matter what anybody says. :-)
BTW: frustration/agression theories also point out that when a person is frustrated in achieving something they're committed to, aggression increases also. In the case of some people, it's not fear, it's outrage. How dare someone interfere with what they're trying to achieve.

the clip
I just saw the clip from the discussion between Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Kennedy. "...good behavior, bad behavior..." "...insurance industry as the final arbitrator of risk..." WHAT?!? good and bad are MORAL terms, not economic. And, the insurance industry is the final arbitrator of THEIR PROFIT...risk be damned. Jeez...

Hypocrites
So McCain should call for more drilling.. that way we can afford to build more big glory homes. At least Al Gore buys carbon credits to replace the carbon emissions from his house by restoring forests. Take a look at Al Gores house that is so often touted in the columns. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/02/28/an-inconvenien tly-easy-headline-gores-electric-bills-spark-debate/
Doesn't look any more grand than the many "glory" homes being build in my state. And wanta bet that Mr Gallagher himself has a luxury home. Does he buy carbon offsets? Looked up McCain they have 7.000 square feet in a 4.7 million dollar residents. That should suck up a lot of energy. And you wonder why energy costs are sky high here. Its folks like these using up the resources! Oh yeh by contrast Obama's home is a mere 1.4 million modest home.

Bob_C-Hypocrisy On Parade
My feelings exactly. Somehow, I think your Shelby is safe. Or actually, maybe not, because with these clowns, what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine to tax or regulate.

BTW, AOL has a photo today of celeb pads. Travolta's LA pad doesn't exactly have a petite carbon footprint either. I had always kind of liked him, didn't realize he was one of the environmental scolds. Julia Roberts has a "green", enviro-friendly Malibu mansion a little smaller than the state of Rhode Island.

Confusing the Messenger with the Message
Liberals always confuse the messenger with the message. Their idea of debate is: "Just agree with me and give in because any other outcome is unthinkable". And if the other debater doesn't give in then the liberals starts with the name calling. How the opponent is nasty, mean, etc. I work with a fellow who can talk for hours about how mean and nasty Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity etc. are, but thinks it is so funny and gives a pass to the Venezuelan president Chavez for calling President Bush "Diablo". I guarantee that if I called Hillary or Obama such a name I would never hear the end of it. But in spite of my disagreements with the Senators I would show them more respect than that. I am sorry people but respect involves more than just agreeing with someone all the time and doing things their way no questions asked.

Proffate
You're right about Bill. Whenever anyone says anything about drilling, reflexively he says the same liberal slogan, "We can't drill our way out of this."

My response to that is "Can't never did anything." How do we know unless we try?

While I like Bill O'Reilly, I recognized years ago that he comes off a bit disingenuous when he tries to portray himself as the independent who keeps himself "above the fray," and sort of demonizes the very struggles that happen in the country. And while he does that, he realizes that his own conservative values might alienate the Left, and he has to find some common ground with them from time to time if he expects to have them on the Factor.

But when he does that, I believe he muddies the issue at hand. He spouts "We can't drill our way out of this," and offers pie-in-the-sky solutions while demonizing the oil companies. If the oil companies are so greedy and obstinate, it's because of a government that has made it harder to introduce competition, drill, extract, and refine oil in the first place, while restricting other forms of proven energy solutions, such as nuclear, thus impeding our energy needs, which is why we're in the crisis we're in today.

Cults They Are
The "hypocrites" described in Mr. Gallagher's article exhibit many characteristics of cultists. The primary one is ignoring the facts and primary to that argument would be the total misunderstanding of the CO2 issue. And then there is the ranting and raving - shouting always seems to be the way people go who don't have a good argument. These types of encounters remind me of a debate between an atheist and a Christian apologist. The two were proceeding along talking points when the Christian man asked the athiest if he had ever read the Bible. His answer was "No" so the issue was he was refuting and arguing about something he had never read. Sounds like he had is mind made up beforehand.
Closing point - I for one am sick of sending billions to the likes of Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Venezuela. It may take us years but we need to move to be dependent on energy , and I think steps in that direction will halt gas price rises or lower them significantly. God bless!

Bad Link?
Link worked just fine for me, so it must be what, it only works for some of us?

Caught the show
Mike, you have my sympathies for putting up with so much specious emissions. Is there such a thing as second-hand demagoguery?

Robert Kennedy Jr's stance on oil drilling was the same as Obama, no way.

Did Kennedy say oil spill at Santa Monica? There was one in 1969 at Santa Barbara.

Anyway I had fun blogging the Kennedy spewing title The Energy Battle: http://annapuna.blogspot.com/

"Can't drill our way out"

That makes about as much sense as saying you can't solve your hunger by getting food out of the refrigerator.

All it does is highlight the stupidity of the person saying it.

Realist
There is no leading candidate for a NEW source of energy. How hard is it to test new ideas first before implementing them. This ethanol fad has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, all because no one was smart enough to consider the effect on food prices. Drill for more oil now, test new sources. It is simple.

Global Warming Hypocrites ?
So what else is new? The people running a scam never participate in it!

Science by Consensus
Science by consensus has never been a good thing. Everyone "believed" the world was flat. Galileo was persecuted for saying the earth was not the center of the univers. We always "know" what we know, right up until we find out something new. I find it ironic that the left liberals have taken over the role of the religous fanatics of the dark ages, persecuting anyone who doesn't think they way they say they should.

The myth of alternative energy

Our technological society was developed concurrent with and designed around the use of petroleum products, along with the supporting infrastructure. Harry Potter's not going to be able to waive some magic wand and change that.

Even if some "alternate" source IS developable, it's many years if not decades away.

And once developed, then what? Again, a magic wand won't work. There are tens of millions of cars, trucks, trains, and airplanes that run on petroleum. They're not going away, nor will they be magically replaced by vehicles that run on something else. How is this new "alternate" going to be distributed? We have tens of thousands of gas stations across this country.

To change that would be such a fundamental change that it would exceed our resources as an economy; we're talking about TRILLIONS of dollars in costs, and decades in implementation.

Further, our country is only one in a WORLD that runs on petroleum. Is the whole world going to change? Because if it doesn't, we'd be screwed. And the rest of the world is even LESS likely to make that kind of change.

This whole "alternate energy" talk is pure hokum and BS, along the lines of all the hype at the end of WW2 about "flying cars" in every garage. Fantasyland sci-fi nonsense.

Butcher...?
Oh, I get it, what you are doing to the english language and the spelling thereof! You, too, could join the SNL gang....just dumb comedy, right?

Wow, I had no idea that the spirit of ..
Katherine Hepburn had posessed RFK, jr.! For those who know how to click on a link (Kimberly excluded because the link worked just fine for me), go to the youtube video, close your eyes and tell me you don't hear Ms Hepburn!

Nice job Mr. Gallagher. You gave RFK just enough rope to hang himself, and he did just that.

Global Warming
Whether one believes in global warming resulting from human activity or not, any reasonable scientific inquiry must continually review its assumptions and conclusions and modify them if necessary as more data is collected.

The so-called scientists who have proclaimed global warming a proven fact not subject to further discussion have sacrificed their scientific integrity to their politics.

Science is not an election where the majority rules. Facts are necessary. Many of the most productive scientists in history were distinctly in the minority and treated in much the same manner as those who are global warming skeptics.

Let Them Eat Cake
strange as it seems, but these nutcases, the ultraswag liberal leftists, appear more like the French elite around 1790's than nouvo riche, hip smart eco cats they portray themselves to be. No, I think that Mr. Gallagher is right that they possess some sort of mental illness: it is called environMENTALism.

I have personnaly witnessed good people become deranged due to one of the following:
1. Drop out of courses due to drugs/alcohol/laziness.
2. Decide that it is easier to follow the Greatful Dead (OK I am dating myself here...) than to work.
3. Decide it is better to receive money for not doing anything than to work hard and possibly make more than the handouts.

These people above are the new sheep. The foolish minions that are as vapid as they are lazy. They follow one mantra: save the planet.

I graduated in 1991 and began studying the environment, thinking I was going to provide solutions and create innovations to engineer this planet...Instead, I found a bunch of people who only wanted to get grants to create models showing how bad it is going to get. Man contributes one millionth the energy the sun provides. Not enough, even with the pollution.

I know now. A solar physicist got me to "see the light". It truly is from the sun. It has been happening for 250 years as we got out of the Maunder Minimum.

Stick that in your pipe environMENTALists...

Idiot
Mike, Kennedy made you look like an idiot. You had to resort to name calling and did not even make your point. You then had the gall to make fun of his voice the next day on your radio show. Kennedy suffers from what is known as spasmodic dysphonia. That is like me making fun of your bald headed wife who has cancer. There is a special place in hell for people like you.

jmo51
Just in case you have forgotten the Gore family got rich on tobacco and oil.

Kennedy
Kennedy is just another spoiled rich kid who never had to hold down a real job and has no concept of how the average person lives. When he erects a wind generator just offshore from his compound, then I may start listening.

Status quo
Thats how to handle the energy problem. No to drilling, no to nuclear, no to unsightly windmills, no to coal. We must go back to mules and caves.

O I forgot, them mules produce flatulence which is high in CO2.

It will all settle itself when enough people are starved to death.

Perhaps that is the goal of these watermelons to start with. To hell with the poor!

You can bet it wont be THEM doing without their limos and jets!

Charles, how is that you know
about special places in hell? Curious, I am.

Chicareedickareedoo
What does a “Carbon Credit” do? Does it reduce the amount of electricity being produced to heat Alboretross’s home?? Does it spontaneously light up his light bulbs?? Does it do any good at all?

Supposedly, “Carbon Credits” are a payment for someone else to plant trees (which will take years to grow) or develop some new technology (with will take years to get to the market)

And we can’t drill NOW because it won’t solve the problem now??

Chicareedickereedoo, (and all others) I’ve been having a problem with my Carbon Credit Broker. Stop on over at my place and help me out!!

21st Century Luddites
Here's one conservative who believed smoking causes cancer years ago but I would not support an anti-smoking law. Let's just hope when GW is conceded to be a massive fiasco that liberals and enviro wackos will have the guts to appologize to the rest of us. Of course, the billions spent to solve a non-problem will be washed down the drain and the life styles of millions will be disrupted to just satisfy the wackos who want to control everybody's life except their own.

Deliver us from from 21st Century do-gooders who always destroy more than they create. Please, please, sit down with your joints and leave the rest of us alone. R.I.P.

Gallagher
Kennedy explained that all the proposed domestic drilling would only produce 2% of the needed oil. He noted that a better alternative would be reducing consumption. He made the important point that a one mile per gallon change would generate more oil than could be drained from ANWR.

Mike Gallagher jumped in with a typical radio talking point calling Kennedy's suggestion a "warm and fuzzy bromide." He claimed 2% was "huge" and repeated the daily mantra that 67% want drilling off shore.Kennedy informed viewers that although off shore drilling should be a states rights issue, California experienced an oil spill creating a huge disaster for the state.

When Gallagher challenged him on nuclear energy, Kennedy made the point that the nuclear industry can't get insurance because the power plants are too unsafe. Gallagher's only response was to attack with the same tired points using terms like "global warming crowd" and even bringing up "polar bears".

Gallagher
Heavy on bluster, but armed woth no facts as usual

Dependence
Saltydog:

As irrational as their position on energy seems, the goal of the left is to make us all dependent on the government. The first step in this process is to get us out of private automobiles (a classic symbol of individual freedom) and into mass transit (where we can rub elbows with minorities and illegal aliens). They do not want to increase energy supply, pure and simple, because that would obstruct their goals.

Charles
Tell us if you can how France and Japan have been able to build nuclear power plants with the high cost of insurance?

It looks to me like you have indulged yourself in too much watermelon propaganda!

A Millionaire's Solution
Kennedy's "solution" would impoverish everyone except millionaires like Kennedy and Al Gore. You cut back on fuel consumption and the economy suffers, people lose jobs, and bread lines start forming. But that's 7th Heaven for liberals because most of their policies end up subsidizing people who can't or won't get jobs.

Thank God for entrepreneurs and conservatives because liberals could never survive without the people who create wealth and jobs instead of the communist lackeys who worship the state and a Middle Ages style of living with millions of serfs dependent on a few lords of the manor.

King Lib
Mikes suit? His "tailor must go and soo(n)? If sartorial splendor is an indication of the validity of the argument, I guess there's another good reason to ignore those birkenstock-and-baggy pants wearing tree huggers, eh?

I agree totally with you. The goal is a Marxist utopia like Cuba.

Fishing for liberal fools....
...just stopping by to check my fishing pole to see if I have caught any liberals with my earlier post.

Nope, nothing yet. Maybe I need to re-bait my hook.

FORMAL CHALLENGE TO ANY AND ALL: I hereby challenge anyone to assert here that the oil deposits off the East, West, and Gulf coasts of America, which lie in international waters, will never be developed and will remain where they lie until the end of time.

There, that's a nice, fat, juicy piece of liberal fish bait. Let me just my line way out into the middle of the pond.

...there, perfect spot, ahhh...

I think I'll just leave the fishing pole here, jump in my gas-guzzling Chevy truck, stop by the barbeque joint for a pulled-pork sandwich, hit the country store for a Co-cola and a moonpie, then come back and check my fishing pole later.

The liberal fishing has been kinda slow lately. Only caught two yesterday, and neither one of 'em was worth keepin'. Y'all don't reckon the liberal fish are getting smarter, do you? Am I using the wrong bait?

Your Most Humble, etc.

George Washington

Drill
Yes drill. Drill wherever we think there may be oil. Why not?
I’ve heard this cr@p about “wasting the Earth’s resources” too many times. What would you have us do with it?? We should just leave it there? That sounds like a waste to me. What is the Earth going to do with it? Perhaps Gaia, in Her Infinite Wisdom, put it there for us to use.

I say DRILL!! Support Gaia and DRILL!!
And what you don't use, return to her. Poor it down the ditch.

to Charles in Texas
Any new oil discovery is likely to represent a very small percentage of total demand. But every little bit helps, and taking the attitude to do nothing solves nothing.

Nuclear plants are not unsafe. The standing joke that more people have been killed in Uncle Ted's traveling barroom than in nuclear accidents in US plants is sadly true. The opposition to nuclear plants is political, not technical.

Quoting any of the Kennedys (even those that did not overdose on heroin or fly their planes into the ocean) as a source is ridiculous.

BrianR
I just don't know how to break it to you compadre but you miss the whole point of alternative energy.

While I, on the other hand, have finally figured it all out.

You just wish enough, and have all the right, or I should say correct intentions, and most of all look like you really really mean it. And that my friend is all that is required. You are confusing the idea of actually putting resources in motion to achieve a tangible and productive result with the more important actions of talking and pretending.

As a recent convert to the cause I shall now commit myself whole heartedly.

This weekend I will purchase my own private jet, which I shall use to cross the country admonishing people who sit in their idling cars.

The 1500 sq ft house my wife and I share will be torn down and our new abode will be 6500 sq ft built from old growth timber, two olympic sized pools and an air conditioned detached six car garage. I will have a solar panel mounted on the roof to heat the water for the shower in the East Wing, Third Hall, Second Door guest room, hence the house will be "Green".

I am buying a fleet of SUVs, my 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 will be retired, I will lead these SUVs in a caravan giving out compact flouresant light bulbs. We will drve around town and when the news cameras arrive hand one bulb to some deserving homeless person then all drive to the country club for diner and cocktails.

Yessir, if more folks would follow the example that Mr. Gore and myself are setting, we could whip this global warming........uh...global cooling........this whole global weather changing stuff.

HUMANS AREN'T THAT INFLUENTIAL
I cringe everytime some chicken little leftist begins acting like world royalty in condemning man's wasteful ways. IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY! I have a 01 GMC 6.0 truck and an 07 Expedition in my garage and I'm sure use a fraction of the energy these creeps do. About 8000-10000 miles are driven by both vehicles COMBINED. The Ford gets 22 MPH on the highway, the GMC 20 because I drive responsibly.

When the money runs thin, they'll move on to something else the pose as a vice and make "windfall" revenues on it. How about this: It's extremely arrogant to believe mankind can influence long term earth climate cycles. I believe the Almighty has that power cornered. As soon as we realize the democrats want to convert our republic to a socialist state and publicize it and educate the masses, the sooner our population will see the "emporers" have no clothes. Typical Green Weenies
attitude on AGW: We must save the earth its sick. If that means the elderly and those on fixed income starve or freeze to death its a small price to pay. The earth is over populated with low class humans anyway!

Fishing for liberal fools....
Of course the oil off our coast will one day be developed. But why waste it in our gas tanks and polluting our air?

For those who don't believe the earth is heating up how do you explain glaciers all over the world shrinking, the Artic ice cap shrinking and islands all over the Pacific ocean being covered by a raising ocean?

Follow Brazil and drill...
Looking through the video, I can't believe that Robert Kennedy is actually right on one point, that we should follow Brazil's lead towards energy independence. Of course, what he didn't mention or didn't know was that Brazil has been drilling its way towards this goal.

In fact, it's recent discovery may bring it to the 10th largest oil producer. And there are even suggestions that it may join the OPEC some day.

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=2825287075 87055

We have more known oil reserve than most oil producing countries save a few of the richest like Saudi Arabia.

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=2981629295 99517

The only things that prevent us from being energy independent are Washington's "politics as usual", as Obama so despises in his speeches but embraces in many fronts in reality, and empty rhetorics about alternative energy sources that has delivered little more than hope for decades.

BrianR
The Robert Emmett Ginna Nuclear Power Station went from groundbreaking to going online in 42 months. Every plant since took 10 years. The difference between these times is the paperwork, which provides no increase in safety.

Cafe Stardards
Mike could have done a better job because RFK was suggesting that we utilize alternative fuels and then when nuclear was mentioned, he shot it down. They don't want nuclear, clean coal, OR EVEN WIND TURBINES but want more regulation. Notice that when pressed Robert mentioned raising CAFE standards? More regulation and more taxes to provoke regulation. I wish Mike would have hammered that but he let Robert off a bit.

The next time some liberal says, "we can't drill our way out of this crisis," reply back, "we can't CAFE our way out of this crisis either."

One way to find out everybody...I gave you the sites, and there you will find, word for word, the "own opinion" of Frank in TX and Kimberly.

Hagar...
...you dummy!

The answer to your dilemna is simple, my friend.

Abandon your wife and kids...sell your truck and use the proceeds to buy a tent and some decent camping gear...camp in the woods closer to your workplace or sleep under a bridge.

Let the government take care of your wife and kids. Obama and his buddies know how to do that better than you anyway?

H***, why not just throw yourself under a train. Me, you, and all of us regular people are probably worth more dead than alive, the way it's going. No wait, we can't kill ourselves! Obama and the Democrats need our payroll taxes to save the planet from global warming, er, I mean, global cooling, er, I mean...well, you know what I'm talking about! Stop asking so d*** many questions, Hagar, and suffer in silence, will you?

Your Obedient Servant,

George Washington

Remember the hole
We used to hear of the hole in the ozone ad nauseam from the watermelons of the day. Why not anymore?

It was discovered that the ozone layer was created by the effects of the earths magnetic field on the oxygen in the atmosphere.

A magnet has no lines of flux at the poles.

Another watermelon talking point bites the dust!

Franks talking point 1
Don't believe me, here is where Frank in TX got one of his...."This morning I was so offended and disgusted when Gallagher kept making fun of the way Kennedy talks. He said several times "I'm not making fun of him....." but that's exactly what he was doing. He also hinted that Kennedy's voice is like that due to his drug use when he was younger.

Anyone see Obama's energy plan?
Hybrid vehicles!?!

I will let everyone else jump in and argue why this is such an idiotic proposal!

George W.
"I wonder if "killer" and "robert" run into each other while flying military jets ..."

Do you mean that literally? From your mouth to God errr...make that Allah's ears.

Franks talking point 2
I'm glad to hear you emailed that bozo and gave him a piece of your mind. You might want to send a follow-up email to let him know that Kennedy's voice is like it is NOT because of drug use.
Kennedy happens to suffer from spasmodic dysphonia, a genetic neurological voice disorder that involves involuntary 'spasms' of the vocal cords which affects the voice.
Tell Gallagher the a (they spell it out here folKs) hole that he owes Kennedy an on-air apology."

Dem's logic
The failed policies of the past, including not drilling offshore and in ANWR, not building refineries, enacting restrictive environmental reviews before drilling or refining is done, not using nuclear energy and overtaxing gasoline have lead to the present crisis. Therefore, to have a successful energy policy, we must turn from the failed policies of the past and keep doing what we have because we wouldn't effect the price anyway because all oil companies care about is big profits which is why they are not drilling now and taking advantage of the record price of oil in the millions of acres where they have leases and it would take 10 years anyway which is why we enacted all this restrictive legislation 10 years ago and the gas tax is not high enough because poor people can't afford gas so we ought to tax oil companies more to pay for social programs because the benevolent oil companies wouldn't then raise the price of gas on poor people just because their cost went up so we should nationalize oil production because the government does a great job of running everything else, like Social Security and ADFC and hey, I'm on break.

Make sense? It does to Nancy Pelosi.

Love to all.

Charles and GW
Thanks for the feedback I knew there was an answer! No me siento hablar Inglés

Obama Energy Plan
The only Obama energy plan mentioned is a windfall profits tax. That should work real well.

The beauty of the Obama campaign is to say absolutely nothing and get away with it. Keith Olberman and Chris Mathews like it.

Let see if
things are too expensive then the government should tax it. Dont they already tax everything? Seems this AGW is a way for them to get away taxing the air.

CO2 debunked.
AGW is a Farce, Hoax, Scam and ALGORIAN Cultist nonsense. The contribution is simply negligable.

The following site is one of the best I've seen in explaining the roles of the various atmospheric gasses. This one includes water vapor.

Frank, I've got to play the...
...BS card on this one.

You say there are islands "all over the Pacific" being covered due to ice cap melting.

Couple of problems here. What islands "all over the Pacific" Frank? Guam? Haiwaii? Australia? Nobody ever names ALL these islands, or any of them for that matter.

And Frank, how come it's always islands "all over the Pacific" people keep telling me are being covered by ice cap melt? Are islands in the Atlantic immune to this Frank? Is it that the ocean flooding is simply localized to the Pacific Frank? Possibly the ice cap melt only flows into the Pacific Frank?

Maybe they could open up all the gates on the Panama Canal all at once and let the two oceans equalize. Think that would help, Frank?

And Frank, what happened to all those glaciers that covered parts of North America and Europe. Did I hear you say they melted Frank? So your telling me these things have happened before Frank? Without our help?

Obama=population of serfs
Most liberals loud enough to make in on the news channels are wealthy hypocrites who jet set around the world, live lavishly, and look down on most of humanity as beasts of the field. If RFK's grandpa hadn't accumulated a fortune in ill gotten money, he'd just be regular common grump. They talk of alternatives, but are never specific - just talk in generalities.

If Obama is elected, kiss what's left of our economy goodbye, assume crash positions, and get ready for rich libs ruling absolutely while the rest of us serfs eke out a crumb filled life. Anyone have some extra pepto? I'm beginning to think libs appreciate communism yet call their goals social(istic) problem solvers. Next thing will be to drastically cut down on human immissions by population control.

Lori....
Aren't you nice!

I'm from Atlanta, live in Ponte Vedre Beach, Florida, and am now stuck working in Chicago for seven months.

I miss the pine trees, country roads, good old barbequed pig, drivers who wave at you when they pass you on the road, homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, cheese grits, and GRITS (Girls Raised In The South).

Enjoy the site. I have found that there are a number of patriotic and intelligent Americans here. Of course there is the odd collection of sophomoric knaves that one might encounter anywhere these days, but I have greatly enjoyed the site for the past few weeks.

Your Most Humble and Obedient Servant,

Leroy..
..Maybe now that Frank in TX and Kimberly have been found out lifting stuff from watermelon sites they have gone elsewhere. I asked him to name just one inhabited island earlier and he hasn't responded...

If "killer" wrote a book, it wouldn't make it to the dyslexic children's section! That guy is so far out most of the time (and probably high as a kite as well) he can't type a complete sentence coherently.

audax
They are worried about flooding the oceans and drowning all the fish.

Frank and other True Believers
OK, let's take it for a moment that glaciers are melting, and oceans are rising.

So what?? What is the problem with this? Sounds like probably a total wash in available land mass, and it's warmer to boot, which means more plants can grow longer.

Here's another hint ... warmer weather leads to more plant growth ... more plant growth leads to more CO2 being taken out of the air ... less CO2 means, what??
Well, nothing, actually. CO2 has nothing to do with "climate change," but it's been nice playing!

Typical Dem lie
This whole global warming thing is a scam and more people are finally getting their heads out of Gore's behind and breathing the fresh air. Another lie from the dem's to change us and get more of our money. I drive an SUV and will continue to do so. If someone thinks I'm hurting the environment then they can suck on my exhaust!

Gorebull warring 1
Many centuries ago, the Vikings sent groups of people to colonize Greenland, which had farmable land, not ice. This is what the warm period was like centuries ago.

Now, Greenland might be returning to the way it used to be a millennium ago, farmable land not ice. A glacier in Greenland is melting, revealing the farmable land the Vikings originally went there to till. Larger crop yields already are the result, and the codfish have returned to the waters off Greenland.

When glaciers melt, some of the water will run into the oceans. Some will thaw out the ground below where the glacier was and soak in to cause plant growth. Much of the water will evaporate into the upper atmosphere to become normal rainfall, ending drought and flooding.

The heat of the sun and the absence of cold from glaciers and sea ice will evaporate more water from the oceans, lakes, and rivers into the upper atmosphere, than there presently is, and the winds will blow it evenly around the world, providing normal rain world-wide, even where there presently is drought and barren land. Moving all this water evenly around the world to become normal rainfall will prevent flooding. This rain would help contain forest fires.

The poles will be warmer and the snow which falls there will be wet, not the dry snow which falls in the extremely-bitter cold. This will return much of the atmospheric water to the poles to be the thicker polar ice.

Parts of the world are still experiencing record low temperatures. Hopefully, we are nearing the end of an ice age that has lasted many centuries; and hopefully, the planet is returning to a warmer normalcy which will also last for centuries. In Switzerland, a glacier is melting. The receding glacier revealed the silver mine under it, with the mining equipment still in it, waiting for someone to resume mining the silver ore. This is normalcy in Switzerland.

Gorebull warring 2
The reason that so much of this planet has had drought for so many centuries is that we’ve been in an ice age, and the water needed for normal condensation has been frozen into glaciers. Glaciers are frozen water needed as condensation for barren and frozen lands of this planet, causing drought and flooding. When glaciers melt, some water runs into the oceans. Some water thaws the ground below where the glacier was, and soaks into the ground. Some water evaporates into the upper atmosphere where it becomes normal rainfall for the whole world.

The heat of the sun, and the absence of cold from glaciers and sea ice will cause more water to be evaporated from the oceans, lakes, and rivers into the upper atmosphere than there presently is; and the winds will blow it evenly around the world, providing normal rainfall world-wide, even where there presently is drought, and barren and frozen land, preventing flooding.

The worldwide rainfall will cause long-dormant seeds in barren lands to sprout and grow into new plants: The best way to go green. The new plants will inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen, which we breathe. There will be so many new plants, that we might have to increase the amount of carbon dioxide we generate, to provide enough for all of them

A glacier in Greenland is melting, returning the land to the way it was a millennium ago. Larger crop yields are already the result, and the codfish have returned. Put the UN there.

Snow fell before leaves, and a month before winter started. Parts of the country and the world have record low temperatures and record amounts of snow and ice. We’re entering another ice age. How soon will Greenland be frozen again and the codfish gone? We need global warming as soon as possible.

Hagar...
...must I explain everything to you?

If we want to tax the air, the solution for you is simple.

Stop breathing so d*** much, Hagar. Contrary to my previous post, maybe it would be better if you threw yourself under a train...eliminate your CO2 emissions completely.

We're keeping a close eye on you, Hagar. You sound like a troublemaker, what with your complaining about gas prices and the cost of food for your wife and kids.

Your Obedient Servant,

George Washington

The solution
Hybrid vehicles that run on a combination of geothermal energy pumped in from Iceland and bio-fuel from Brazil!

Redhead,,,
,,,I don;t think you'll hear from Frank or Kimberly on this thread now that we know they copy their talking points from other watermelon sites and regurgitate them here os their "own opinion".

Leroy...
Sir, you are brilliant.

My friends, our friend Leroy here has found the solution for "all of those Pacific islands" which are being inundated by rising waters resulting from the melting of ice caps.

In case you missed it, Leroy has found the beautifully simple solution for Frank.

Easy, just open up the Panama Canal and let the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans equalize their water levels.

Problem solved. Leroy, all of humanity, and I'm not excluding Frank, owes you a great debt.

I thought people in Texas, and for that matter, anywhere in the South, were all stupid.

Funny post there, Leroy, you called him out pretty good.

Your Obedient Servant,

Goats
TrueRedHead, great idea!

Add to that:

Goats to replace gas-burning lawn mowers and goat carts to replace gas-burning motor scooters and Tercels.

Use goat methane to heat our homes.

(And BBQ goat is delicious!)

Save the planet!
Bless us, Gaia!

Love to all.

Global warming
Nothing but a leftist plot for redistribution of wealth!!!

Yeah, good job there, though.
I went to the site and read through some of the comments. It's scary to think that those people (and I use the term loosely) can vote!

It seems to me, though, that if GW is a problem, it should be self correcting. I wonder if they have any of that built into their models?

TrueRedHead
Another solution:
Pump all the oil out of the ground, then insert geothermal generators into the resulting caverns. Since they will be closer to the core of the earth, they should operate pretty well!

Great name, by the way. It’s clear that you are incredibly smart!

violence, vandalism, and profanity?
Is not for lack of education or, tolerance,

It is not that they believe Republicans to have fangs and horns. It is their embrace of TOTALITARIAN-ISM.

It is their belief, that power is not something you gain at the polls, but something you own by supression, censorship and intimidation.

The Left admires not elected leaders like Lech Walesa or Vlaclav Klaus, but guys like Che Guevara, Robert Mugabe, Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro.

Tyrants with the power to impose their views, no matter how unpopular, unviable or, insane.

"Saving the Earth" opens for them that revolutionary opportunity.

You failed in trying to be civil and not going for the yugular. American totalitarianism must be defeated. These people need to be unmasked for who they are, power hungry Jacobins, would be Mirabeus awaiting their Reign of Terror.

In every historical period there are always a left wing advocating for a strong central government as the only solution to the maladies of one's Nation.

BTW all,
I think I may have gotten a flaky Carbon Credit Broker. I need some help from all you wise people here at TH! Stop on by my place and help me out (click on my name…)

Redhead,,,
Isn't that the truth! Hopefully they will all be high on election day and stay home or get lost on their way to the polls. Doubt they have anything built into their models that would allow us to continue our way of life or improve it. Their solution is always more government control of our lives and oh, you must pay more taxes so that we can continue making these great decisions on how you lead your life. BS! Read Jonah Goldbergs new book "Liberal Fascism" he lays out there agenda well.

TrueRedHead..Salt...
The goat thing is a truly inspired idea.

I hate to rain on your parade, however.

The PETA people will be on you two like flies on dung!

I mean, enslaving goats to mow your grass! Really! What kind of heartless heathens are you people?

You're not even supposed to have any grass in your yard, anyway. You are selfishly wasting water.

Another great read..
..on what it will be like once they gain absolute power over our lives is the Old Classic by Ayn Rand "We The Living".

If Scientific models were that accurate
All the Climatologists would be making a killing by accurately predicting the fluctuations of the comodity market, the stock market and/or the money market.

But they can't.

Instead they try to scare the same people who believe in UFOs abductions.

As for conservatives and lung Cancer. . .

Can someone remind me if it was conservatives who claimed that Cocaine and LSD were both harmless? Or that sex as a form of entertainment, without consequences, was possible? Or that living in comunes was good parenting?

No group has a monopoly on certitude.

A pretty little secret is that Science is barely somewhat better than your local psychic at predicting the future.

Scientist can never predict who is going to commit suicide, how much is it going to rain, how high is the price of gold going to go, or what area is going to suffer an earthquake, yet tey pretend they can predict the earths temperature 50 years into the future???

Why don't they take a shot at predicting the LOTTO wining numbers?

Is all a bunch of arrogance rolled up in self-righteousness. The old belief that they are better suited than God to run the Universe.

It has never worked.

You should've gone ahead and
"unhinged" RFK Jr. I recall him declaring that global warming "deniers" are "traitors." Yes, traitors. Simply amazing, the sheer idiocy of these leftists.

"The rank hypocrisy of the global warming fanatics is simply galling."

ABSOLUTELY TRUE! Perfect example of rank hypocrisy: Rich celebrities traveling around the world in private jets, living in megga-mansions, making $$$ millions and telling us "common folk" that we need to scale back our lifestyle.

I have a message for them: GO TO HELL

"I've come to the conclusion that many of these people are mentally ill."

This is the truth. I tried having a debate with one of these goreons and, upon being presented the facts, he shouted (and I quote): "I don't want to hear it!"

It's mind-boggling trying to understand the liberal mind ... you can't.

comments
I am trying to view the comments made on the article on Global Warming, where are they??? Everything that I click on takes me to the same screen, and no comments listed...

Ozone
Well, I think that I will live through global warming or climtate change (whichever is PC to call it now). I lived through not falling through the large hole in the ozone that was supposed to suck me out many years ago.

As for Hollywood people that are green, what a bunch of hypocrites. Every time they save an extra square of toilet paper, we hear about it on the news and then they fly off in their corproate jets.

I will live another day.

Mr. Gallagher - How about the facts
Several statements made by Mr. Gallagher in his column that need to be corrected:

He states about Gore "They pay thousands and thousands of dollars a year on their electric bill, enough to power hundreds of average American houses." The "report" on the electrical usage of the Gore residence that Mr. Gallagher refers to claims that Gore's electricity usage is 20 times a typical residence not hundreds of times.

Obama has not stated he is against nuclear energy and he has stated he is open to this as an option.

It is interesting that Mr. Gallagher's entire column is largely based on a caricature of Kennedy rather than a detailed account of what was actually said on the show. Having what appears to be little technical knowledge on the subject of global warming he resorts to meaningless arguments, such as the hypocrisy of Al Gore with regard to his energy usage. Are we to judge the quality of the science behind global warming based on the energy usage of the former VP. It should IMO be based on the scientific papers on this subject by the best scientists in the world. I should think that the amount of energy these scientists use is also irrelevant. But I doubt that the tens of thousands of experts in this field are all living in mansions.

Mr. Kennedy's opposition to the wind farm in his neighborhood may be used as an argument to say he is hypocritical. But this does not diminish the technical argument put forth by him in the debate, which by and large are substantive and accurate.

I suggest those who are interested in reading about the science of global warming (mainstream opinion) will find the website http://www.realclimate.org very educational.

REMEMBER THE HOLE?

.....SALTYDOG ....

.....Yes the Libs worked their the "sky is falling magic" and got freon banned ...now that they have been proven wrong freon is still banned ...

.....See the beauty of it all ...even when they are proven wrong ...they still accomplish their goals ...sounds like a stacked deck to me .....COLOSSUS

Its Cold Here
I know that looking at my own regional weather conditions doesnt matter to the libs, even though they use summer heat waves to claim global warming. But here in Washington we had snowfall in June and one of the longest coldest winters on record. Finally getting our spring season now though.

GW re Hagar under the train
As an alternative I will consume massive quantities of Heinz baked beans (Al will be happy) but then I expect to produce massive amounts of Methane (and that is a GW gas). I just AL and his friends are in the room!

Obama doesn't live modest either
None of the GW crowd intend to give up their luxuries but have the nerve to demand that we do. Like it or notObama's attitude and the Kennedys are a bird of a feather. Elite is too kind a word. How about Snob? Wealthy ones to boot wanting us to cut back????

Democrats and Coercion
Coercion means to compel to an act or choice or to restrain or dominate by force or to achieve by force or threat.

Democrats are using coercion to force Americans to become environmentalists by the Democrat definition of what a environmentalist should be.

ANWR Exploration
House Republicans:91%Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Coal-to-Liquid
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 78% Opposed

Oil Shale Exploration
House Republicans: 90% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration
House Republicans: 81% Supported
House Democrats: 83% Opposed

Refinery Increased Capacity
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

The result of Democratic coercion is $4.00 a gallon gas which at some point will be $10 a gallon.

Democrats use coercion for acceptable speech, quoting Obama or wife is racism, hate speech is any speech that does not praise deviant sex as normal.

Democrats coerce the MSM to label illegal aliens as workers doing tasks that Americans will not do.

Democrats will assure that all prices will rise and taxes are raised and life will become a living hell by coercion - "Resistance is Futile"

Leroy, Georgetwin

Thanks, guys. You've opened my eyes to the errors of my ways.

I shall no longer hew to that silly notion of common sense; I shall ignore all the basic principles I learned during my second year of engineering school. I shall ignore any logical notions that erroneously enter into my thought processes.

Because Gaia is all! Harry Potter's right around the corner with his wand! And all shall be set right in the world!

Global Warming Hits California!
AP/UPN - Santa Clarita, CA, 20 June 2008

The high today here in Santa Clarita -- a conservative enclave in the suburbs of Los Angeles -- was a sizzling 119 degrees... fortunately, on the Fahrenheit scale.

Local residents were stunned by the debilitating heat. When interviewed, BrianR was quoted as saying, "it's hotter than a three-dollar pistol!".

When asked whether there was a tie-in to a recurring phenomenon known as "summer" or if this heat could be directly attributable to Global Warming, a local meteorologist responded cautiously: "well, you know, that's hard to say. I mean, that 'summer' thing is an annual occurrence, and usually you do see higher average temperatures associated with it, generally on a global scale affecting the Northern Hemisphere this time of year. And today is the first offical day of 'summer'."

Whe pressed further, the meteorologist, who requested anonimity due to concerns for his job if he were labeled a "whistle-blower", did exapnd his statement cautiously; "I'd tell people to not panic. If this current heating follows its usual pattern, in about three months another climatological event we usually call 'fall' will occur, and those temperatures will start falling.

"Don't run out and sell your SUV today!", he joked inappropriately.

baseballdoc and BrianR
Good posts!

Baseballdoc, The Greenies got the whole US of A to stop using freon and aerosol spray cans because of the ozone hole.

Are we stupid or what? LOL, ROTFL, ha ha ha!

Fool me once...

BrianR, Hotter than a three dollar pistol, she was the fastest thing around. Long and lean, every young man's dream, she turned every head in town. She was built, and fun to handle, son, I'm glad that you dropped in. She reminds me of the one I loved back then.

The girl was not a leftist and the Corvette was not a hybrid.

Love to all.

KIMBERLY
You certainly made a fool of yourself on this thread. In addtion to the multiple comments directed to you above let me add and correct you on the following: the term is 'boorish', that's B-O-O-R-I-S-H not "boarish". Sounds similar Bush, one of your favorite words, not bore which is a character trait of yours. Two o's no a. You could look it up, but you're not big on fact checking are you? Hey, maybe it was just a typo. lol

Libtard's buttons were pushed..

lol..
It's about time Someone took on that elitist Spoiled Brat, Kennedy, in a public forum.

Of course, Mike happened to have the common sense truth on his side..

Mike rocks..

Charles
"You then had the gall to make fun of his voice the next day on your radio show."

Thank you! I was listening to Gallagher's show on the way to work that morning and was very offended that he chose to make fun of RFK's voice (as have several others in these comments). Then, on the way to work this morning, he was doing it even worse!! He must have received alot of position responses from his listeners for doing that.

However, I really think you should have left out that comment about his wife.

maggie
why would you expect the elitists to make any sacrifice comparable to the ones they demand average american's make.

Like wealthy poombahs they think they are above the rules for others and that others can make the sacrifice but heir money will allow them to enjoy life and so they can party likes it's 1998.

But elitists are above the fray. They have the wisdom to lead and decide for others and as such they need not be called to make sacrifices.

But expecting alldull and cry baby kennedy jr to give up their corporate jets and lifestyles is ludicrous. The elitists are above the fray and why concern themselves over the great unwashed. Elitists knoiw they are better than others, their hypocrisy over energy matters proves their indifference

Just ask them....
...how does CO2 cause global warming?? Most of them don't even know what it is or how it works. The Aqua Satellite system completely disproved the IPCC models. There was NO hot spots over the tropics as predicted by the models. The models predicted CO2 would be a forcing in creating high, heat trapping clouds. The reverse was true. Low, cooling clouds were predomininate. The IPCC chairman acknowledged this. It was only reported in the Australian News. It's SO easy to prove it a hoax...that's why they scream and yell, because they know it is, but they want to stop us from using oil!! They don't want us "polluting" THEIR planet. They, like Kennedy, are a bunch of arrogant, narcisistic and self-absorbed people who hate Conservatives.

Gore has made 100 MILLION off his carbon offsets and investments. He buys offsets from himself. He is the Chairman of the Company.

John McGore

I'm sure McCain's cap and trade policy on global warming will fix the earth right up with no economic consequences at all.

God help us.

Subject: Franks talking point 1
Don't believe me, here is where Frank in TX got one of his...."This morning I was so offended and disgusted when Gallagher kept making fun of the way Kennedy talks. --------------------------------
Wow. That was me that posted that a few days ago. Imagine my surprise to see it here since I'm by no means a regular poster on any site. In fact, this is my third time right now. I've gone back through all the posts here to try to find out how Frank used it as a talking point, but can't find it. Oh well. This gives me another chance to express my disgust with Mike Gallagher. I e-mailed Mike to express my opinion that he had sunk to a new low, and let him know why RFK talks that way -- first time I've ever e-mailed a talk show host (okay, second time because I think I e-mailed Daryl Ankarlo a couple of years ago to let him know I enjoyed an interview he’d had that morning) -- and I received a curt reply from Mike's producer saying they already knew about his condition which is a neurological. Since Mike kept saying on his show that they were trying to find out what was wrong with his voice, I just figured they didn't know how to use Google, as it took me about three minutes. Well, this morning I was listening to his show again (I know, I’m a glutton for punishment), and he was doing it AGAIN! And going so far as to actually imitate Kennedy. I couldn’t listen to any more, and put on some music. I like to hear/read opposing viewpoints, must be why I listen to talk radio and read these comments on Townhall (that way I can find out what a commie liberal liar I really am), but that was too disgusting.

Green and Crimes Against Humanity
Environmentalists have destroyed more human lives and have caused far more damage to the environment than any other group of people in history.

That's right, every time we've implemented a so-called green initiative, the result has been an environmental disaster. Example: ethanol in gasoline. E10 fills the air with horribly toxic formaldehyde. Moreover, fuel efficiency is so bad with E10, we are consuming more foreign oil not less. Ethanol producing plants pollute worse than any other based on evidence from the EPA that I've seen.

Every day environmentalists like Robert Kennedy and Al Gore are charged with crimes against humanity for starving poor people, mostly black (a very important point to make).

If you looked at the Lieberman-Warner bill on global warming, you would find that hundreds of millions of people would have died of starvation as a result.

Environmentalists do not care about human life at all.

Nucular
I thought the Leftists called Bush stupid because he mispronounces the word "nuclear".
And now I hear this darling of the AGW crowd saying the same thing. Priceless!
Then he talks about a free market economy rewarding good behavior and punishing bad behavior. Typical Leftist, he has no idea that a free market economy purchases needed or wanted goods and/or services and ignores unneeded and/or unwanted stuff.
And saying we can't drill our way out of an oil shortage is like saying we can't farm our way out of a famine.
The Kennedy name used to mean something other than Communist, but that was a long time ago.

Globull warming
I decided to see just how the other side lives, so to speak.
I have been watching HGTV for the last month. They are "green" pushers. Seeing the designers, real estate people, and the millionaires showing off their houses is enough to make yu barf when the elites start spouting global warming.
The new houses are equipped with every convenience imaginable. A house isn't good at all unless it has Granite counter tops. The lighting is sucking up hours of energy in about a minute. They all must have hard wood floors.
The showers are huge with 4 or 5 shower heads above, called rain shower Then others spray wyou with water from every angle. On and on and on, no conservation they keep yelling about. The water usage is terrific, along with either electric or gas to heat the water. They have televisions in the bathroom along with all the other stuff. It would be fine with me, but they expect ordinary people to use these stupid curly light bulbs that flicker and are to be disposed of by hazmat!! And the toilets that don't really flush right, because we are supposed to conserve water!! Just watch for awhile, and you will really get mad when you hear the greenies, and their bunk!!

GREEN aka....MONEY
The Clintons, along with the Gores and for sure
the Kennedys, along with the "Holly-Woodheads" have found their new "cause celeb"--global warming and going green, as their way of making
big bucks(doesn't Gore own some kind of 'green
company?' while these very hypocrits use their private jets(ala John Travolta)large mansions that eat up wattage, etc. They ALL use this latest "scare tactic" as the latest means of controlling the "lower classes". I am so sick of these phonies dictating what WE SHOULD ALL BE DOING, AND I WANT THEM TO BUTT OUT OF OUR LIVES-MY FAMILY AND I DO WHAT WE CAN TO RESPECT THE EARTH, AND WHEN I SEE THEM DOING(NOT JUST SAYING) THE SAME THINGS(THE HYPOCRITS) AND "NOT
MAKING MONIES OFF IT, THEN I WILL NOT BE AS HARD ON THEM. THE 'TREE HUGGERS' and 'THE DON'T
SPOIL MY VIEW WITH WINDMILLS CROWD ARE FAKES AND
I'D LIKE GORE LOOKED INTO ESPECIALLY SINCE HE IS
MAKING MILLIONS ON THE LATEST SCARE-IT USED TO BE THAT THE LIBS USED: SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE
ETC., TO SCARE US, NOW THE "PIGS AT THE PUBLIC TROUGHS ARE USING A NEW ANGLE: GOING GREEN"

THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE GREEN IN THEIR OWN BANK ACCOUNTS.

Of coarse the earth
is heating up, it kinda does that and then cools off again..that's why we have glaciers and things called "ice ages". I guess gore and the other BS artists like kennedy think ALL of us are products of the public schools.

Someone should ask one of these fools why we aren't still in the last ice age, there were few people and definately no SUV's.

They push this crap because there is MONEY in it and it gets them on TV and they get awards from other damfools which increases their provenance so they can fool other dipsh&ts until they get enough votes to FORCE the rest of us to go along.

I am sick of these people, they have been ruining our country since their dope smoking hippie days, they're self rightous, delusional fools with an agenda. God help us if there are enough of them to get this marxist obama elected, they will have what they have always wanted since the 60's..a communist takeover of these United States.

Gofer hit the nail on the head
Gofer, the warmists never want to engage in discussion about CO2 even though it is Public Enemy #1 in their theory.

They evade this conversation because there is no correlation between CO2 and increasing temperature. None. In fact, over the past decade the correlation is negative.

Their Playstation climate models completely missed the recent lack of warming and now apparent cooling cycle. The models say the missing heat from the atmosphere (which is required to show a signal from enhanced greenhouse effect) has been hidden in the oceans, but now the ARGO robots have shown slight cooling over the past 5 years.

How does the radiant heat budget of the earth supposedly increase, but the heat cannot be found anywhere. They claim once again that AGW is being hidden by natural forces. Well why did none of their infallible models project cooling?

This is all getting so very pathetic and stupid. Unfortunately, the AGW narrative has taken hold and the Leftists, Libs, and politicians ever ready to expand their power, are off an running with their agenda.

I don't want to see a cooling of the earth because that will not be very good for any of us, but I'm afraid it is the only thing that can get people to stop, catch their breath, and start asking questions as to how the planet can cool when we're pumping so much CO2 into the air. The wackos will turn tack as quickly as they can and claim they predicted cooling, but their credibility will be greatly diminished.

The fraudulent climate scientists who fabricate the data for all of this are working as we speak, and as quickly as they can, to devise new ways to try and "adjust" the ocean and atmosphere temperature data to make it conform to what their models are saying. In true Leftist fashion, when the actual data doesn't agree with the models, the data must be wrong.

Iceland
I watched the RFK video calling for the US to become more like Iceland. Listening to RFK he made is seem like it has already happened and just by pushing a button we can be like Iceland too. So I looked to see what Iceland was doing and found out they have a rather unique situation for their small population which is hot springs and thus geo-thermal energy. So taking it all one step further they plan to slowly move towards hydrogen energy since at the moment they are entirely dependent on those with the oil. We know the feeling.... I guess I find RFK disingenuous when he tries to compare Iceland with the US and make it seem like all the US has to do is just agree to be like them. It just isn't that simple at all and he knows it.

What if they are right?
When I was in school 30 years ago, my professors taught that carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels caused heat retention. They predicted that increased carbon dioxide, along with other greenhouse gases would have certain effects, such as sea level rise, acidification of the oceans, climate change and loss of arctic ice. Their predictions have come true. Now the predictions are for catastrophic global events, agricultural failures, massive storm events, etc. What if they are right?
We all know that fossil fuels will run out in any case, right? What have we got to lose by investing in solar energy now, rather than later?

Love Euro Style

Now we keep hearing how the left loves the way European countries do things or conducts their business. They smugly keep telling us that they are more advanced in their ways as opposed to us peons here in America. Except, I guess when it comes to energy. I keep hearing that most of or at least a large portion of good old France's energy comes from nuclear power.

Yet, we just keep hearing about all the negatives of nuclear energy. How it will just send us into a deep morass of poisened water and land. Apparently, the spirit of the Clamshell Alliance is still alive and well. So why don't we just take a lesson from France {that is if their energy story is true} at least in regards of their energy policy.

Look, we are always going to need oil. That's probably why God put so much of it in the Earth. Let's just simply go get it is and use it. The Earth is able to absorb the waste if we're responsible in its use.

Sail on sweet miss.

Texas bulldog
What evidence do you have that your professors claims were correct? Do you have data that the rest of us don't? First, 30 years ago your professors were saying that CO2 caused cooling, not warming. Sea levels have been increasing for over 10,000 years and they are now doing so at a slower rate than previously. The oceans are not becoming more acidic. The PH is currently 8 which is alkaline. If we immediately released all CO2 sequestered in so-called fossil fuels it would not be enough to reduce the PH below 7 which is what it would take to call them acidic. Why, when you mention Arctic ice, do you ignore the Antarctic ice which has increased to record levels? How is that possible if the warming you are claiming is truly "global?"

And finally, what solar energy capabilities are out there that can power an industrial economy? Do you recognize how much pollution is put into the environment to produce the silicon required in the solar photovoltaic cells or how much is generated in producing the batteries required to store and reuse the solar energy. Without batteries, solar only provides energy during the day time and only when the sun is unobstructed by clouds.

I'm afraid you are just repeating things you have heard and that you haven't done the appropriate research on your own. Nothing you are saying has any resemblance to fact or what can be found empirically in the real world.

Greenland Ice Core Findings
...Even without any of that notoriously destructive human participation, the climate system is capable of stunning variability based on these findings. It is a mystery why the current climate of the last 8,000 to 10,000 years had been "strangely stable". Studies found that the average global temperature can change as much as 18 degrees Fahrenheit in a couple of decades during interglacial warm periods such as occurred during the previous Eemian warm period. The data showed that significantly warmer periods and significantly colder periods had occurred during the last warm (Eemian, about 115,000 to 135,000 years ago) interval between the two most recent 120,000 year glacial ice epochs. One "catastrophic event" during that last interglacial warm period, the average temperature plunged 25 degrees Fahrenheit to ice-age levels for about 70 years. At another point during that Eemian epoch, the climate melted enough polar ice to raise sea levels some 30 feet. All of these AlGore types of catastrophic events occurred prior to and without any human presence whatsoever.

Furthermore, what if they are wrong?
If we are indeed entering a cooling period, growing seasons will be shortened and agriculture will be negatively impacted.

The last thing we should do in these kinds of climatic conditions is reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. CO2 is plant food and acts as aerial fertilizer. If agriculture is stressed, we should actually be INCREASING the amount of CO2 available to assist its crops in growing.

A cooling period will naturally reduce the amount of CO2 in the air which is counter-productive to what we need. Perhaps we should give tax credits to people who expand their carbon footprints and, consequently, help to provide the footstuffs for the world's population.

Decreasing CO2 at this time is complete insanity. But, I guess I shouldn't expect anything different from Leftists who aren't wrapped too tight to begin with.

Never trust a smiler>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
My grandfather Frank always said, never trust a man that smiles to much.
1. He is selling you something
2. He is about to lie to you,
3. In this lie, there is a joke,
4. You are probably the butt of that joke!

I have found this to be true, and Mike Gallager is selling you and the rest of us a line of BS.
Plain and simple truth is he is a liar, a con, a professional Bull slinger.
He is mixing GHG emitions from HFC's to CO2 emitions. And as we all know, are auto's do put alot of CO2 into the air, because we drive so many.
If the number of US automobiles where to be compared to the population of China, we would be very close to a tie in numbers. But that is changing rapidly.
Big corperations like PGE, First Energy, ConEd, the major Oil refineries and the leading coal producers. All want lower emmission standards so they can make more money.
Not a bad plan, but a risky one.
The emmission credits he talks about currently exsist and have been for many years. Companies that have lowered their emmissions of CO2 gases and don't need them, sell off their excess gas emmission credits to other companies for a profit.

Entertaining
I positively LOVE this site! The posts are always such fun to read! The libs come in with all their "facts" and then folks who actually KNOW the real facts come in and set the record straight! God Bless America, and our troops who keep her safe, for this is the only place on the planet where people can have such dialog. And George W. are you appearing anywhere in Chicago? You'd be great as a comedian, for you have a razor sharp wit! Take care, all, and Happy Early 4th of July!

CBS in the tank for Al Gore
CBS kisses the royal ring and fails to ask Mr. Gore how many wind turbines it would take to make enough energy for the entire United States,
which really would have been useful since in the three video clips of windmills shown two clips of had the turbines standing still.

Katie failed to ask Mr. Gore how the northeast would get solar power since he advocates building solar farms in the deserts where the sun shines most the time.

Katie failed to ask Mr. Gore how the electricity would get from the desert to the point of use.

Katie failed to ask Mr. Gore why he does not face his critics in an open debate.
