Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

There was a scene in the NBC-TV sitcom “The Office” (possibly the funniest show on television) where the dunderheaded boss, Michael Scott, accepts advice that he must declare bankruptcy. The buffoon boss, doing what he believes he must do strides confidently into the main area of the office and bellows, “I hereby declare bankruptcy!”

I’m reminded of that scene when considering the comical ineffectiveness of the political world’s odd expectation of candidates denouncing, renouncing, distancing, disagreeing or otherwise trying to pander to as many people as possible by pretending to be offended by something a supporter said or did.

It would be nice if politicians would act like adults and tell a screaming media to take a long hike off a short pier every time they ask for one of these phony acts of contrition. But since they never do, I suppose we’re stuck with people in public office constantly having to chastise someone on their team for opening up their big mouth.

Since we understand the rules of denouncement in politics, I sure wish we could receive a little bit of consistency on the subject.

When Geraldine Ferraro told a tiny west coast newspaper reporter that Barack Obama enjoys the fortune of being a black man in this year’s presidential race, you’d have thought the longtime Democrat had actually burned a cross in a black family’s yard.

Never mind that a candidate who receives over 90% of the black vote in Mississippi is quite obviously benefitting from the swooning and fawning he is receiving, largely over the concept of a black man becoming the first viable presidential candidate in our nation’s history.

Forget the fact that most of us know that she was only speaking the truth. One of the cardinal rules of the nasty process of identity politics is to never miss an opportunity to label your opponent a bigot.

That’s precisely what the well-oiled Obama campaign machine did.

As Ferraro herself pointed out repeatedly, it was the Obama campaign folks who went positively bonkers over her opinion. They pretended to barely contain their outrage in denouncing and renouncing her remarks.

Being a pro at identity politics herself, Madame Hillary promptly threw her longtime supporter under the wheels of the bus by feigning outrage and disappointment as well.

It didn’t take long for Gerry Ferraro to give up on the Clinton campaign and resign from her official position. But at least she refuses to apologize.

Since the Clinton and Obama folks are positively covered from head to toe with mud by now, it should be fairly easy for Sen. Clinton and her folks to go after Obama on the most obvious elephant in the room these days: Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Slowly but surely, the fact that Sen. Obama refuses to denounce, renounce, object, or even mildly rebuke his longtime “spiritual advisor” and church pastor is starting to be recognized by the American public.

Wright is a man who is your garden variety radical racist, an angry, vicious little man who blamed America for 9/11 (“God d__m America…for killing innocent people” he once famously said), and compared Obama’s upbringing to Jesus at the hands of the Romans (who were “Italian and that means European and that means WHITE” he thundered from the pulpit last year). This is a man who literally stood in his church and exclaimed, “Hillary has never been called a n__ger!”

Some sermon.

And yet, Sen. Obama simply will not, perhaps cannot, offer anything more than a mild type of “agree-to-disagree” style of reaction to this Chicago crackpot.

The reasons given for Obama’s refusal to denounce Jeremiah Wright range from specious to laughable. I heard one radio host today suggest that if Obama were to do so, he’d be “in trouble” for not doing so in the past.

Another said, “For perspective, I certainly do not agree with everything my pastors have said on Sunday.”

What a ridiculous reaction. That’s a bit like saying the local pedophile does a good job of creating balloon animals. This isn’t about agreeing or disagreeing with parts of someone’s hateful racism. A pedophile doesn’t have any positive attributes; a bigot shouldn’t be forgiven because some of his body of work is okay.

So Hillary, your opponent’s Achilles heel, his reluctance to do the right thing and completely reject Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his pastor and advisor, has just made it pretty easy for you. He has thrown you a giant, fat, slow pitch right down the middle of the plate.

Are you gonna take a swing?

Obamanation - A Poem To Make One Shudder
Obamanation - A Poem To Make One Shudder
OBAMANATION

Obama goes to church for twenty years
And sits and listens with those huge ears
Yet, expects us to believe he doesn't hear?
That's an Obamanation.

And have you noticed how close a name
Can be to a person's lifetime game?
Like Hitler's name's a clue - A. Hit.
And that's an Obamanation.

I get a bad feeling when I hear
The name that goes with those big deaf ears,
That pray upon our racial fears,
I hear an Obamanation.

Goodbye to hope and peace and change
Obama's sainthood is most profane
Please do not laugh at my explanation
Obama is an Obamanation.

It seems like God is sending us a clue
To protect our red, white and blue
From false prophets, the likes of who
Bear clues - It's Obama, Nation!

His preacher-monster, hateful bigot,
Spews death and blood like an open spigot
Don't join the ranks of foolish exaltation
I believe he'll lead us to O', say it, Bomb A Nation.

The devil assumes a pleasing shape
While teaching hatred of whites, that is spiritual rape,
What's in his name that excites my imagination?
I believe he wants to O', say it, Bomb Our Nation.

He wants to bomb America, that's right, with "change"
Whatever that means, it is horrifyingly strange.
To preach hatred of whites must bring condemnation.
I can not vote for an Obamanation.

Nellie I like your spirit
Nellie some people just can't understand things they have been brainwashed or something. You just keep on doing what you are doing you will be fine, and the others without a clue will go on their way thinking they are right.

Divide and disenfranchise.
Divisiveness is the calling card of the Democratic Party, hotly followed by pandering. One merely has to study the history of the liberal party to know this without a doubt. With all the liberal talk of unity and parity, they never miss an opportunity to smash the foundations of any attempt to bring unity and parity about.

I can think of no more racist an individual than a liberal white or black. liberal whites think of every minority as a child they must defend and spoil, they have no respect for the people they pretend to champion, how can you respect someone that you think incapable of competing in a society on the merit of that peoples own energy. As a minority I find white liberals offensive.

Black liberals echo the weaknesses pointed out by the white liberals every time they ask for one more entitlement, and when they don't get it, like a spoiled child, they rail against a society that rewards anyone with enough industry to plan and work hard, with limitless possibilities. The industry of the black man has been drained from our community. I find the liberal black obsession with seeking succor from the state, and propensity for not taking just some of the blame for the plagues of our community equally offensive.

Obama pattern

I see a pattern here with Obama and the support Obama gets from the racist pastor and Louis Farrakhan.
Obama in the Tribune interview said he would only denounce his pastors statements and not the man.
We probably need to go back to the debate in Texas. With the Louis Farrakhan endorsement. Did he only denounce Farrakhan's racist statement and not the man ? Does he believe Farrakhan is basically a good person except for those few little racist statements he's made ?
Somethings going on here. Is he saying to the leftist racist black radicals, wink, wink, nod, nod. These are things I have to say. The end result is we take over America ? My personal opinion is yes. He's the candidate of the leftist racist black radicals. They almost succeeded.

Identity politics
Whether you admit or not, neither of the Democrat candidates would be where they are without their identities. Hillary Clinton, without Bill Clinton, would most likely be an unknown Hillary Rodham; and a white Barack Obama would probably be as unknown as most other senators outside their own states. I certainly can't name the other senator from Illinois. Or Indiana or New Mexico, for example. And neither of them is very different in political philosophy from John Edwards, a white southern man, and former senator. Or Joe Biden, etc.
It's ALL about identity! Certainly it is not about experience or achievements or wisdom in proposing workable solutions for America's problems. These are non existent in both.

News flash....
News flash....
Far too many black people have been spoon-fed, nay shovel-fed, similar hatred and venom from the pulpit of other black churches. Their minds are poisoned against their native country, blaming whitey for shortcomings, assuming a permanent victim status, while buying into complete fabrications and distortions of History.

Nothing is ever their fault or the fault of the dhimmicrats who have been promising them the moon and stars for 50 years, yet their situation never improves. Any rational, thoughtful person would have abandoned this path into the wilderness a long time ago, but like all subjects of tyrants, the black community in this country is kept distracted by inflammatory rhetoric and imagined persecution, all the while being manipulated and controlled until after elections.

Black people are being kept down by whitey alright - and they're all in the dhimmicrat party. Ask any black person you know and chances are he'll tell you that his country has indeed invented AIDS to kill black people but have no clue that Margaret Sanger's Planned Parenthood mission statement openly aims to reduce the black population, by 14 million so far.

Not all black people are this gullible, but far too many are. They are indeed victims - of unscrupulous and diabolical liberals.

People, you know not what you do
Barak confidently said, Old timers preach that way. They hit ya hard with negatives so that they place the fear of God in ya, so that you never "cast your nets on the wrong side." The preacher is of the old American school. He tells the hard truth when he sees it. You do something, you expect consequences.

We are not accustomed to that sort of preach'n. In the deep South ya hear it too. It sets you straight. Makes ya sit up straight and behave like the Good Lord expects you to. You learn right from wrong from that kind of preaching.

Our very own military training uses harsh discipline to teach 'right'.

Are you displaying unAmerican criticism of our own schools, where young Americans become Men?

I believe you are.

Please read my post 12:07 AM
America, I love you like I love my babies and their babies. Right and wrong sometimes become clouded in the fog. There is a great fog tonight.

You need to humbly get down on your knees and ask God's forgiveness for the act of indignant behavior you have displayed on your good brother, tonight.

Let us pray. Larry King: I hope you'll bring good people on, like my friend, to set this record straight once and for all. This ignorance has to come to its end right now.

...on "davidp, 20 years too late":

> you seriously can't believe that fake

Do you believe the statements from Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Trent Lott, or Eliot Spitzer? (omitting some obvious people here) I believe that he is being more honest about all of his statements that the rest of the candidates. Do I totally believe it? Absolutely not - but it is magnitudes more believable than any other person in recent times that has had to make a "statement". If you want examples, I'd be happy to oblige.

...on davidp, you are the reason:

> I will assure you that Barak Hussein
> Obama will NEVER BE POTUS

You are entitled to your opinion about "SENATOR Obama". Only time will tell.

maverick, Obama isstill an empty
suit who is funded by a syrian-thug Rezko and advised and mentored by Wright, the racist who hates america and wishes for God to damn america - or to quote Bin Ladin - God to destroy america. What a joke! Do you see why americans are not trusting Hussein with the presidency? or are you too tied up with his handsome smile and rheteric of copied speeches grounded in we-are -the-world that saves everyone but does not defend itself - foreign policy?

davidp, you are the reason
superdelegates were invented. It is impossible to believe there are many americans who give Obama ALL THAT BENEFIT OF A DOUBT when it's obvious he respects Wright enough to choose him as a mentor/advisor and put him on his Leadership Committee. Enough americans find this to be disturbing, so it is with great pleasure, I will assure you that Barak Hussein Obama will NEVER BE POTUS.

troglodyte, define McCain how you want
but one thing americans know about him is that he has spent his adult life defending this country as a soldier, navy pilot, legislature and we know he will do so as POTUS. What other candidate can be trusted to do so? that's what I thought!

davidp, 20 years too late
and you seriously can't believe that fake statement put out my Obama. I am sure there are other great community churches that do not teach "God damn america" in inner city Chicago. Obama CHOSE THIS ONE, and there is no explanation other than, he agrees with the views.

Nellie , nobody picks their parents
or middle name (although this one can be legally changed). However, Barak Hussein Obama, picked Reverend Wright as his mentor and spiritual advisor. That was his BIG MISTAKE. Americans can and should judge Obama by his choice of his mentor. After all, Obama has spoken very highly of this man, and now we know what this man thinks about our country, and white people. There is no explanation that Obama can give to make it OKAY. Americans will not give this misguided man who is looking for a father in a lunatic the keys to the whitehouse. FYI, if you support Obama for his "sound judgement" speech about Iraq in 2002, then you should hold him accountable for not giving a speech to reject Wrights statements about 9/11. Since the victims of 9/11 are not here to say it, we will say it for them - SHAME ON WRIGHT AND OBAMA FOR THEIR HATE AMERICA AND BLAME AMERICA PERSPECTIVE ON 9/11.

Wright's Preaching?
Give me a break!

Wright uses his pulpit to HARANGUE his captive audience - and the nation through the media - with hate for the United States and whites in general. He runs the church of white hate.

He's a racist bigot of the first order. He runs the church of white hate (and now he's an appointed adviser of the the B. Hussein campaign).

Do I hear anyone telling him he has no right to speak? This is politically correct (PC) hate speech - that why.

PC censors
It's about time we challenged these people's authority to tell anyone they want what they can and can not say. I've never been much of a Ferraro fan but she was simply stating what is an obvious fact - Obama's a local Chicago machine hack who has parleyed his mulatto skin color (and a gift for reading puffery off a telepromtor) into a run for the presidency. Without it, he wouldn't register much more than a state rep on the qualifications scale.

My guess is that madam klinton cut her free so she can continue to talk while denying any responsibility.

Reverend Wright
Reverend Wright makes Rosie O' Donnell sound like a Bush booster by comparison.

Tonight I was sickened to watch
a good man being interrigated as if he committed a crime. Barak Obama said that his relationship with the Paster could be compared to that of an old uncle who's opinion delivery is old. You love him anyway. You know him. His preaching is familiar to those who know him. The message is inside those words...and they stem from love.

My very best friends are a couple who's father was a preacher of the same variety. Same school.
We heard his preach'n at the family dinner table, for God's sake. It was hard sitting through it some times, cause we weren't accustomed to such negative preaching.

But guess what! That preacher's son is the most honorable man we know. He has received so many accalades for his achievements with children, through the art teaching he brought to a Catholic Orphanage. At his retirement party, so many stood up to speak of this man that we couldn't turn to eat. And in the end of the evening Ted turned to his dad and introduced him to the crowd, saying that everything he became, he owed to his dad the preacher.

Anderson Cooper. You made a terrible mistake tonight.

I pray, you can rectify it.

Wright and Phelps
I think that Mr. Wright and Fred Phelps should join forces and spew forth hatred together; they could really cover some territory! The only thing that both should do is cease referring to themselves as 'ministers.' Neither man is about Christianity; both are bigoted, racist monsters.

Time to change our name
To "The Divided State of America". I can't see anyway it gets better - hell a few hundred of us can't even agree on anything here on an Internet message board. There does not appear any way to resolve this.

We're doomed.

Yomama's faith
Sure, make that statement in the middle of a hotly contested primary battle.

Not at the beginning, nto when he was ahead, but when it gets dicey and people start asking questions...

So, he was married there and his children were baptized there... it's all about the children, of course. Over the last 20 years it was acceptable, now it's not?. So, he never noticed Wright was a racist anti-american jerkoff during that time? Only when Wright was "on the verge of retirement"?

They're all scumbags, all politicians, may they all rot in hell but please rot them out of office before they take US to hell with them!

On Senator Obama's Faith

Not so fast there...

Yes, it was published today. And, as I said earlier:

I understand and respect that decision. He didn't give up on the community. I would wager that he discussed these actions with his family when appropriate as well.

Pray Rome burns
and takes Washington D.C. with it. Most days I wish that Flight 93 (9/11) had hit the Capitol - hopefully with Congress in full session.

President, not Politics
@maldain:

I did not interject anything about [the liberal or conservative nature of] politics in my statement about Hoover. Hoover had 3 years to rebuild the nation from the collapse of the stock market but did not. I do not for one minute believe that the "Great Depression" had to happen, but Hoover could not undo any "damage" from previous administrations; he personally didn't have the necessary skills to overcome it. I believe that is a major reason for his single term as President. You see, I believe that our country needs a President that can prepare the country for any situation, and then react appropriately and timely when needed most.

Our next President will need to be flexible and be able to think fast and thoroughly about their decisions so that we don't suffer similar fates.

Re: davidp
Just curious, when do you think the Great Depression started? You do realize that it started while Wilson was still in office. Total neglect by a series of Democratic administrations and congresses allowed the agricultural infrastructure to collapse. This started in 1917 and continued into Hoover's administration. Now if you're going to blame Hoover for the collapse of the Stock Market....gee let's see Hoover was elected in 1929...and oh yeah the market failed in 1929. Now if you're going to blame Hoover for the subsequent economic collapse into a general depression in Urban areas completely ignores the collapse and depression of the agrarian economy that had been going on since 1917. The fact is that Hoover couldn't have done anything to undo the damage done by a series of Democratic Administrations and Democratically controlled congresses. Additionally, while in office he was very effectively prevented from taking any action by a Democratically controlled congress more interested in playing for power than helping the country. Amazing how little things have changed over the past century isn't it. And just an FYI for you the Democrats during Hoover's time were the conservative party and the Republicans were considered the liberals. And oddly enough the Republicans of today would still be considered liberal by comparison to the Democratic party of Hoover's day. What changed was the Democrats realized the only way they would hold on to power was to become the liberal party so with FDR they moved to the left of the Republican party's position.

YoMama's lame qualifications
Over a year ago, YoMama Bama cited his "international relations" degree as "foreign policy experience."

LMAO!

Hey B. Hussein: I have a Masters in IR, therefore I should be Prez, and since you have a B.A. in IR, I'll consider you for VP........ha, how about VP of the Whitehouse lawn crew??!!

Still LMAO!

ladisney
No, but a white politician these days can be a Grand Wizzer of the Ku Klux Knuts.

As long as he's a Democrat.

Talk about a double standard!
If a white politician was a member of a church where the pastor was a leader of the KKK would that be OK?

Race card autoplay
To play the race card, all that B. Hussein Obama need do is to show up. He doesn't have to "play" that card, it plays itself. And the MSM helps him modulate how and when the card is played.

If I were black, I would have to be at least interested in Obama's candidacy. But, not being stupid, I would have to look beyond his (half)blackness and think about his qualifications. And that "looking" would convince me that he really hasn't any.

The same can be said for Rodham's "womanhood". In her case, it's not about her qualifications--her disqualifications will drag her down.

So that leaves us with the best qualified Democrat in the race--namely John McCain.

davidp
The book remark wasn't meant to be bait, simply sarcasm.

As far as starting somewhere, you are quite correct and my point is precisely that, I'm not comfortable with the start I am seeing. He never really started what he asked people to support him to do, why should I believe he will be any more committed to the job he now says he really wanted?

You will have to ask the people he intends to abandon why they held to him, for my part I can tell you he would never have gotten my vote again had I been in that position.

Do I fault a Senator or Congressman or Governor or even Dog Catcher for running for president? Of course not, but have the good graces to at least unpack your bags first.

"Are you gonna take a swing?"
She'll bounce off that wall when she comes to it.

And there's still Obama's communist mentor during his formative years waiting in the wings. Yup: a card-carrying member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) coordinating with Russia (like Strobe Talbot). ("Frank" in his book "Dreams of My Father.")

Conservatives are likely to know about this. Democrats aren't, so if they deny this relationship, bear this ignorance in mind.

;>)

Experience?
@Primus:

> Critical thinking would disqualify Barack
> Obama as a candidate based upon his complete
> lack of executive experience on any level

Herbert Hoover had many years of experience and many levels - his Presidency produced some of the hardest times for our nation. Was his "experience" worth it in the long run? Obama is a critical thinker, on his own.

> - as well as his near total void on
> foreign policy.

Careful...President Bush didn't have this experience. He was my governor...I should know.

Motives
@leroy:

> Obama's actions are far more blatant.

Interesting point, but I would be more apt to agree if his district didn't vote overwhelmingly for him.

> Of course I'm sure this was all explained
> in the book somewhere

Nice try, but I'm not biting. Everyone must start somewhere, even a President.

davidP replies:
"Yes, but I am trying to make some points about debate and critical thought."

Critical thinking would disqualify Barack Obama as a candidate based upon his complete lack of executive experience on any level - as well as his near total void on foreign policy.

On paper, nearly every governor, mayor of a large city or two-plus term senator is better qualified.

He is a great orator - no more, no less.

davidp
Reading a book that was not written until the person desired to run as a candidate for the presidency does not give us a true insight into that person, it is little more than a capaign tool.

And what of the people who he convinced to vote him into the Senate to represent them. No sooner do they put their trust in him and he decides he wants another job. I knew Hillary was using the people of New York as a door mat but Mr. Obama's actions are far more blatant. Of course I'm sure this was all explained in the book somewhere.

Ferraro comments not racist?
I don't get it. The author says the pastor comments regarding the people who killed Jesus were racist because he said they were white people. Anyone who has seen Passion of the Christ would have to accept this view, so how is that racist. The author then says Ferraro comments were the truth, well, if we were to accept her comments as true, I don't want to hear another White, Black, female, or any other person say their race did not play a part in getting them where they are. I will accept Obama being where he is because of his race, when Whites accept the fact they are where they are because of theirs. I just think her comments were stupid, and for anyone who preaches the work hard, take responsibility stuff and accept her comments is a hypocrite. Her comments open the door for people to make the claim that Mr. Gallagher wouldn't be where he is if he were not White, or didn't know someone, or any other excuse. Some of the comments made by the pastor where inflammatory, but not racist.

And?
Yes, but I am trying to make some points about debate and critical thought.

davidP
You're an Obama supporter.

We get it...

RE: Pot, Meet Kettle!
Ahh...I was certainly waiting for it.

@photogbill:
When Mike commented here:

> Slowly but surely, the fact that Sen. Obama
> refuses to denounce, renounce, object, or
> even mildly rebuke his longtime “spiritual
> advisor” and church pastor...

This is implying that Senator Obama has found some merit to his church pastor. For him to also assert that the "local pedophile" does a good job with anything. Context clues sir, read the context.

@Elkiejg:

Senator Obama has history with his man. Good or bad, it is there. For him to renounce the man who was his officiant and likely had other positive effects on his life would be difficult for anyone. It's easy to say that someone should denounce someon that has had influence in their life, but much harder to do it.

@roadkill58:
> No one expects Obama to reject Christianity
> but maybe find another parish to attend.

I see no one calling for this, but I just may not be looking in the right place. This is a reasonable argument.

> Would you attend the same church and take
> communion from the same priest if you found
> out he had been molesting alter boys and
> the church covered it up?

Not the same comparison at all (comparing Rev Wright to a pedophile) But, as a former alter boy that was *never* mistreated, I would say that I would want the church to remove the priest, in the fashion that has been done. Perhaps not enough, but in the manner.

> The real question is does Obama believe all
> of this tripe spewed by Rev Wright

I would read his books to find out the answer to that. (_The Audacity of Hope_, _Dreams from My Father_)

> Will he abandon Isreal to it's fate at
> the hands of millions of bloodthirsty
> muslims.

Nothing I can say here will chnage your mind, but from reading his books, reading his website I see nothing to suggest that Senator Obama would let an ally perish.

Irony
Ironically, this whole "politics as comedy" conveys the functional limitations of “group-identity” politics so central to Democrat Party ideology, i.e., which member of which government-sanctioned victim group should receive more differential treatment by the MSM? Which is the bigger victim, the over privileged-feminist candidate or the over-privileged hyphenated-American candidate? Does female-chauvinist entitlement trump racial guilt-driven entitlement? I guess the Clinton campaign’s collective temper tantrum is indicative of the fact that racial-guilt & entitlement has won the day.

It’s amazing that MSM bias is never issue when the MSM inevitably favors a Democrat over a Republican.

I'm not sure...
.....if asking for him to denounce, renounce, retrack, or anything else is entirely appropriate because I don't believe it would be sincere.

I doubt seriously this type behaviour and choice of subject for his sermon is something of a recent development in this pastor.

If I were running for office and my church had cross burning and hood wearing as part of it's service I doubt I would be able to brush that off by saying the choir is really good and other parts of the church fill my spiritual needs.

My question to Mr. Obama is why didn't you look for another church years ago? Unless of course this is the type of religion you want your children to grow up believing in, and it seems to me these ideas are exactly what he wants his children raised with otherwise why did he stay.

Cult of Personality
Whenever I see famed "inspirational speaker" & product of the Chicago political-machine, Mr. Obama, appearing in a public function in order to convey his empty platitudes of "hope" & "change" to his fawning crowds of sheeple, Living Color's "Cult of Personality" starts to play in the back of my mind.

McCain/Romney Ticket
"McCain and Romney have different areas of strength. McCain has the national security background that is essential at this time in our country and he understands the necessity of completing our tasks in Iraq and not surrendering to an enemy that has sworn an oath to destroy us. McCain has travelled Iraq extensively and understands this war from the ground up. He has invested more of himself in this effort to combat terrorism than any other Senator in Congress. Romney has unrivaled experience and savvy in the economic sector. Mitt could go to work on restructuring the government to run more efficiently and save our nation what is wasted per year... an estimated one trillion dollars! Mitt could work on several other budget/economic initiatives such as utilizing US energy resources & renewable energy and working within the healthcare insurance industry to create a solution for the working uninsured in America. There are much easier solutions than turning to socialized medicine.
"

Church
I have gone to my church all of my life, but if a new reverend were to come in and spout a bunch of trash like Wright is doing, I would change churches in a heartbeat. You can change churches without renouncing Christianity in general. Surely in a city the size of Chicago, there would be a church without the baggage of a reverend like Wright that Obama could attend.

Its A Tradition For Demos
The Demos/Libs make up the rules of political correctness and what constitutes bad talk. They made up their own rules about Michigan and Florida. Other than for being first in primaries, what's the difference between Michigan or New Hampshire or ??? being first? Bragging? Trend? Tradition? All BULL. As for Ferarro, just another politician -- talk, talk, talk. "Can't we all just get along?" As far as Obambi renouncing his messenger from God, Pastor Wright, that is not necessary, inasmuch as the Catholics, for example, have not renounced their churches that are/were filled with abusing priests -- fact known world wide for many years. To think that Obambi has not been influenced by Wright over the couple decades, is folly.

There were
numerous advances in the field of medicine dicsovered by Nazi Germany as well as the "invention" of the inter-state highway system.
Maybe Hitler wasn't so bad after all.
Even really bad people do good occasionally, by accident.

Ferarro
One more thing J. Ferarro was right. Obama's appeal is largly his skin color otherwise the blacks wouldn't be throwing 99% of their support behind him and we all know it. If he were white do any of you think Oprah would have given him the time of day? There are other candidates who share his view on the war, taxes, abortion and all the other liberal special intrests. His appeal is that he isnt an old white guy. That is enough for some people.

As a Catholic, I should *not* be forced to renounce my Church because of someone's opinion of one [or more] of its leaders. Should I quit the Church because I believe Galileo was "mistreated" (to say it mildly) for hundreds of years? Or denounce the Church for not allowing birth control? I can and *should* be able to hold on to the beliefs that are most dear to me. That is my "personal" Church - my own critical acceptance of my beliefs and no one should be able to tell be otherwise.

No one expects Obama to reject Christianity but maybe find another parish to attend. Would you attend the same church and take communion from the same priest if you found out he had been molesting alter boys and the church covered it up?
The real question is does Obama believe all of this tripe spewed by Rev Wright and as president would these beliefs guide his actions and policies. That sir is the question which needs to be asked of Senator Obama. Will he abandon Isreal to it's fate at the hands of millions of bloodthirsty muslims.

Demand
B.Hussein Obama should demand that Wright apologize for his racist remarks and he should tell all of the US that he is withdrawing from that separatist church and completly disassociating himself from such a racist church. After all he is campaigning to be a president of not just half black people but of all American citizens.

Elkiejg ......
Maybe Mike is ...or maybe Mike isn't saying Obama should leave his church ...but I'll gladly go on record as saying he should leave his 'house of worship'! He 'should' be running from it like the plague, that it is ...and should be turned into a 'pillar of salt' if he were to 'look back'! What his 'pastor' is spewing from the pulpit is an abomination to the message of the gospel!

What exactly are they worshiping anyway? It certainly isn't the 'God is Love' message that most professing Christians here from their 'spiritual advisers'!

Can anyone imagine in their wildest dreams Billy Graham, or Charles Stanley, or Chuck Swindoll, ...spewing this kind of vile, hate-filled poison in the name of Christianity?

What exactly is the scripture source of Jeramiah Wright's 'sermons'? The NY Times? the daily Kos?
or maybe the 'honor bestowed' Louis Farrakan is Jeremiah's 'spiritual adviser'!

Wake up people! We're not talking about a lowly campaign worker here ...or even a top financial contributor ....we're talking about someone that wants to be the president of this nation ....calling this man his spiritual adviser!

So Obama wants us to believe that he's the 'Great Unifier'! ...eh! If it weren't so deadly serious, that would be funny!

You need to read Mike's column again - with an open mind - he never says Obama needs to leave his church as you claim. He questions why Obama isn't renouncing the good Rev for his hate filled speeches. Think for just a moment -- what would happen if a white person made similar comments about a black person - or a hispanic????? They'd be boiled in oil.

Remember the old saying - you're known for the company you keep.

davidp ...
You said "Wow...it is amazing how you attempt to inadvertently compare Obama to a pedophile."

Nice try idiot! Mike wasn't comparing Barak Hussein Obama to a pedophile ...he was comparing his vile, racist, hate-filled 'fraud of a pastor' ...to a pedophile.

Great essay Mike! People should be extremely concerned that Obama has this America-hating ...or more correctly WHITE-America-hating Jeremiah Wright as his 'spiritual advisor'. What excuse can Obama have for not leaving this phony 'house of worship' years ago.

I can't believe you fell for that scheme
What a chump. Did it ever occur to you that Ferraro is doing exactly what was planned by Hillary and her team. Why did Ferraro leave on her own and not wait for Hillary to fire her. Ferraro was willing to fall on her sword for Hillary, but she has her pride also. Getting fired would have been too much in identifying her as a racist. This way, she can leave in protest of being called a racist and play the victim also. How does it benefit Hillary? Well, Hillary went before black voters and apologized for Ferraro, and in turn for the apology accepted the role as a victim also, seeing how Obama is winning because he is a black man and Hillary is the victim white woman in this race. Once again, Hillary has played the race card. The scheme by Hillary and Ferraro was played out like it was supposed to be without a hitch.

> Forget the fact that most of us know that
> she was only speaking the truth

I would suppose that your proper listeners/readers believe this statement. But, that doesn't make it true in reality. The important thing to note is that "Senator Obama" is handling this situation with finesse and cognizant thought:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080312/ap_on_el_pr/obama_race

> the fact that Sen. Obama refuses to
> denounce, renounce, object, or even
> mildly rebuke his longtime “spiritual
> advisor”

and such is the inherent problem with mixing Religion and Politics.

> That’s a bit like saying the local pedophile

Wow...it is amazing how you attempt to inadvertently compare Obama to a pedophile. That is really an example of Godwin's Law, or perhaps even more globally apt: Reductio ad absurdum.

If you didn't call people like Newt Gingrich "Great American Heroes" ** (even though you gloss over his infidelities) and instead denounce THEIR actions then perhaps your arguments might be more believable. Likely you would form your arguments more appropriately, one would hope.
