Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Dear Senator McCain:

Before you completely disregard my letter because I’m one of those annoying conservative radio talk show hosts, I hope you’ll consider the fact that over the past few weeks, I’ve been getting a ton of flak for supporting your expected candidacy.

I have to admit that you weren’t my first choice. Fred Thompson was my pick as I felt he best embodied the type of Republican best suited to run our country during these challenging times.

But as a Republican, supporting you now is a remarkably easy task. The two simple reasons for defending you are: 1) Barack Obama and 2) Hillary Clinton. Despite what Ann Coulter says, handing over the keys to the White House to a liberal Democrat would be a disaster.

So I’ve been doing my best to remind my radio audience about the importance of future Supreme Court justices, how solid you’d be in trying to keep our country as safe as possible against the threat of Islamic terrorists, the ongoing need to preserve and protect the sanctity of life, the crucial defense of the right to keep and bear arms, and all the other reasons why a Republican – any Republican – would be more preferable to the Democrats.

And you know what? I sensed that I was persuading the cynics. I know you have a spotty track record on the subject of illegal immigration, but you keep saying that you’re hearing the American people now and you absolutely understand the need to secure the border. I realize that campaign finance reform is a sore spot for many, but practically speaking, that’s only a life or death issue to mostly inside-the-beltway-ers.

I could hear it in my callers. Even the most ardent McCain-basher was starting to come around. Person after person called to tell me that I was convincing them of the importance of keeping Obama or Clinton out of the Oval Office.

And then along came Cincinnati.

Bill Cunningham is an Ohio institution. The veteran conservative radio host has influenced and entertained listeners like me for years. And when I saw that he was slated to introduce you at a Cincinnati rally, I thought that was quite an achievement for your campaign. After all, Willie is a red meat conservative, the type of guy who hasn’t been exactly brimming with excitement over your success.

As we all know by now, he got up on stage and railed against the Democrats. He did what he does on the radio. He complained about the media’s love affair with liberal politicians and he referred to Sen. Obama by his full name.

So Sen. McCain, I’ve gotta ask: whose bright idea was it for you to run to the microphones and cameras afterwards and act as if Cunningham had smothered a puppy on stage?

Was it you, sir? You actually felt a need to formally apologize for a speaker to refer to Obama by his full name?

I spoke to Bill Cunningham right after this entire episode. As you might have heard, he is now positively furious with you. I believe his exact words were, “There is now no way I will vote for Juan Pablo McCain after he threw me under the wheels of the Straight Talk Express Bus.”

And all of this just as you were gaining some ground with a bunch of worried conservatives.

I’ve really spent a lot of time wondering why you had to give such a passionate apology for Cunningham’s remarks. I suppose you thought it would be best to “nip it in the bud”, that if you didn’t, you would get eviscerated by the media.

But wouldn’t it have been just as effective to report that you didn’t hear his remarks, that he was entitled to his opinion, and Barack Hussein Obama is, after all, the man’s name? I mean, I heard that you said you didn’t ever recall meeting Cunningham, yet he told me you’ve met him on more than one occasion, even having dinner with him one night!

What a mess.

Listen, Sen. McCain, you may think this is none of my business. But a guy like me is putting his name and reputation on the line by fighting for you. I know that for every reason to criticize you, there are ten reasons to vote for you over Obama or Hillary.

But I urge you to think before doing something like trash a beloved radio talk host when you had to know it took a lot for Cunningham to warm up your crowd. Had you not apologized so profusely afterwards, it would have been tough for him to stop supporting you. After all, he didn’t have to accept your campaign’s invitation to introduce you. But by pretending that reciting a political opponent’s full legal name is grounds for shrill outrage you managed to tick off a lot more than one angry radio host.

I know a bunch of my colleagues in the talk radio business have been beating you up lately. And yes, I read the interview in Texas Monthly this month that your chief media adviser, Mark McKinnon, gave where he suggested that he doesn’t think Limbaugh and others are having much impact on your success.

But wouldn’t it be better to get as many of us in your corner as possible? We know we’re not king-makers – we threw everything we had at Bill Clinton (twice) and that didn’t work -- but why deal with the headache of folks with millions of captive listeners railing against your every move?

You don’t need the aggravation. You’ll have your hands full dealing with the messianic journey of Obama. You have your work cut out for you and I would submit you don’t need a bunch of radio hosts on your back.

So I’ll keep pointing out how important it is for Republicans to support a Republican like you during this 2008 election. I’ll defend you when I can, expose the Democrats for what they are, and hope for the best.

And I’ll even make you a deal: the next time you want a good introduction at one of your campaign events, I’ll do it, free of charge. I’m a pretty decent public speaker and I genuinely want you to win in November. I’ll talk up your positives and only refer to your opponents as “the senators from Illinois and New York.”

Surely that’s not anything you’ll have to apologize for, right?

Sincerely,

Mike Gallagher

McCain needed to apologize because
he can beat B. Hussein on his record and lack of experience without turning this into a personality election (the mistake Hillary has made so far). Obama's personality (and that includes using his middle name is a formidable opponent because he is both a victim (half black) and eases white guilt (half white). If McCain did not distance himself from personal attacks then his campaign would be framed by the media based on personality and he would definitely loose. Instead, McCain decided to aplogize and neutralize the personality issues so that he could focus on policy issues like Iraq, taxes, pro-life, defense, foreign policy. In November, McCain will win overhelming support if he sticks to policy and ideas and avoids the trap Hillary ran into of personality and identity. Well done McCain, keep americans focused on policy not personality and ideas not identity because Obama can easily be defeated based on policies and ideas. Vote for an american hero, vote McCain!!!

Mike, What conservatives?
So far, the 20-25% of the conservatives who say that they will not vote for McCain will not make a STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT difference in the general election. If we combine the Nader effect (and he will his name on the balliot in ALL states this year), and the democrats and independents who trust McCain more than Obama (2:1 lead), then we can project that McCain will keep all the red states that Bush won in 2004. Another way to look at it statistically is that, McCain will get 60% of the following voting blocks military, senior citizens, security first voters, pro-life single issue voters (remember Obama is against giving medication to kids who survive a third trimester abortion and this is really really extreme), fiscal conservatives (Obama is raising taxes for people who earn $75K and over), whitemen (Obama was doing poorly with this demographic when Edwards was in the race and so if whitemen are forced to choose between B. Hussein and McCain...Mc wins), Hispanic voters (Obama is doing badly with this voting block and the open primary election states are a good indicator of the general election, the Hillary voters who value experience over "undemonstrated change" will pick McCain overwhelmingly. Predicted outcomes this November - 15% stay home (ultra conservatives and racist liberals), McCain gets 45%, Obama gets 40%. CA may even go red!

Sarah
There is no way on God's green earth John McCain can win without the conservative vote. He has much fence-mending to do before a great majority will support him. Why does he ALWAYS take the wrong side when it comes to conservatives? That is his big problem and has been for years. He is still doing it. If he didn't like what Cunningham said he should have spoken to him in private and then just distanced himself from the remarks to the public. Now he has made an enemy of a conservative with a large listening audience. The audience is conservative. Many conservatives cannot stand the thought of four years of him kicking their backsides.McCain, the fences are still down.

Mike...yeah me too...
I was coming along with the whole...don't cut off your nose thing...
but I saw McCain live as he made his apologies!

I don't even like Cunningham...but I had to change the channel as McCain trashed him to win Lib favor.

I would not even be surprised if McCain legally changed his middle name to Hussein just to show his sympathies :)

Letter From Responsible Citizens
Senator

Because I do not agree with your PRO ILLEGALS plans, obscene global warming tax, no energy crisis solution and other policies I may not be able to vote this year:

HOWEVER; If you want to beat Obama / Hillary: Be mindful that:

Hope is what you have at the crap table

Change is what we will have left after they unload their long list of new welfare programs on us:

Obama and Hillary appear to propose moving all 300 million citizens from WORK to Welfare:

We cannot afford them and we cannot afford your Obscene Global warming tax increase, to support the illegals who have invaded this country and ethanol:

The user fees and taxes on everything Federal, State, Local, Utility, etc. far exceed 40% of our income.

"get out of the sandbox" of that was then:

Convince us that you can "enforce and reform" inspire 100% personal responsibility, represent USA citizens in all things, stop enabling and rewarding irresponsible conduct of every type, by all citizens and illegals and then we can come around.

1. stop that obscene global warming energy tax you are pushing through with Lieberman is a good start.

Too late for an open convention?
Oh, how I wish. Can't we draft someone? Fred would have be good. Mitt would do a great job of trimming back the government. (No way, Hucky! He's as wrong as McCain.) McCain keeps disappointing me. Do we Republicans have a death wish?

McCain doesnt need lectures from MG
McCain hopefully will listen to his conscience
stick to his guns, and eschew livid know-nothing talk radio fools who p.imp anger and indignation for their daily bread.

Go soak your head Mr. Gallagher, and then
go have a cup of bile with the not so cunning ham.

Senator: ANSWER the Questions !

1. what exactly will you do about the illegal invasion of this country by illegals. Details:

2. what exactly will you do about our energy crisis. (note: ethanol has caused food prices to triple) (note: we cannot afford your global warming tax increases)

3. exactly what will you do with the the Law of the Seas treaty proposals.

4. define for us what you mean by "PROTECT AND DEFEND THIS NATION FROM ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESIC. HOW ? Whom ?

5. exactly which laws will you enforce and which ones will you ignore ?

6. will you continue to enable and reward the irresponsible, reckless, and criminal conduct of USA citizens and those who continue to invade this country by entering our nation without permission?

7. will you continue to support policies to drive USA corporations and the successful rich citizens out of this country through excessive burden, financial punishment, and policies that are disruptive to the Freedom to produce, save and invest.

YOUR web site does not address the issues of concern, we ask that you answer vital questions.

Straight talk
While spending "a lot of time wondering," I wonder if Gallagher considered the possibility that Cunningham's comments sincerely offended McCain.

McCain, not being a stupid man, understands the intent of emphasizing Obama's middle name. He knows that it is a crass attempt to feed the lie that Obama is a Muslim. He knows it is an appeal to bigotry. He doesn't like it, and he said so. What better example of "straight talk" does one need?

DO NOT SAY MY name seeking $$$$$$$$$$$$$
Senator:

Do NOT use my name when you call for $$$$$$$$$$$
or my vote:

It might be offensive to me to HEAR MY LEGAL NAME!

I might be so ashamed of my name that I do not want anyone in the world to hear it.

How politically correct will we have to get to please every single one of the 300 million USA citizens ?

On second though, do not even bother to call!

MCain does it again
John McCain could not have provided a more perfect example of why he has troubles with conservatives that what he did to Bill Cunningham. Democrats and media are happy with him, conservatives are furious with him. Which ones does he need in order to win in November?

I'm sure he feels great about his moral stand, but he should ask himself if Democrats would do as he did. The answer is a resounding NO! Barack and Hillary would never do anyhthing to trash their potential voters - no matter what. Of course, it isn't a completely level playing field as the media would never call them on it anyway.

Mc Cain The Rino ???
In my opinion Mc Cains promise to secure the border's and all of his campaign rhetoric is just that. I do not trust the man and I surely believe that if elected he will betray whatever promise he makes to get himself elected.
It is perplexing as I can't vote for either Democratic candidate and wouldn't waste a vote on Nader. I will continue to support conservative Republicans for other offices but am at a loss as what to enter on the presidential line of the ballot.

good article Mike
Sarah makes some good points. The same ones Rove makes. McCain doesn't need conservatives because Obama is too far left.

Of course, that ain't gonna help the GOP. Republican candidates from Senator to dogcatcher will feel the pain of conservative alienation by the hands of Rove, Bush, and McCain.

The money tells the tale. GOP $7M, Dems $35M.

Plus, it is conservative activists who become precinct captains, make phone calls, hand out literature, etc. It's going to be awfully hard to staff phone banks with moderates and liberals who are uncomfortable with Obama.

Hey Mark Gallagher

If you support a Traitor to the country who has taken your Constitutional right, that makes you a Traitor also. It is not any different than aiding and abetting a criminal.

How can so called Americans not have the spine in their back to support someone other than an outright Traitor who gave us McCain/Feingold and McCain/Kennedy?

You people have lost your minds for you are handing the power to a man who wants to undermine the Constitution of this country, and I have not even gone into the assaults he has tried on the second amendment.

You radio hosts are nothing but Communist Bastids in disguise.

POW investigation cut short.
Lincoln Savings and Loan
Keating 5
McCain/Feingold
McCain/Kennedy
Voted to abolish Gun Shows

What did you say your IQ was?

You’re worried about judges when this guy wants to dissolve the Constitution of the country with the laws he is writing.

YOU ARE FREAKING CLUELESS.

OMT Mike,
Clinton won ONLY because of Perot. Perot was more conservative than either Bush or Dole. Perot tapped conservative discontent, and Clinton won by default.

Clinton's "victories" weren't because talk show hosts failed at delivering the conservative message. Remember, Clinton only got 43 percent of the vote in '96.

and that you
Mr. Gallagher would support a man who blatantly lies just for the sake of political office, for the sake of power for power's sake

just goes to show how morally bankrupt are the ideas that "justify" such treacherous means!

Shame on you!

Funny...
...how none of you mentioned that the RNC has denounced Billy's stupid comments. Is the RNC turning its back on the bigoted crowd? Hmm. Maybe because they know it's losing strategy. Only works with the small-minded. Like those on TownSmall.

Sarah:

That's great that you've reduced BO's name to simply B. Hussein. Very adult. Keep it up and maybe the DEMs will take all 50 in November.

A disappointment!!!
McCain did not need to apologize. Americans need to be reminded that Obama's middle name is Hussein. Let those who do not care about it continue their life in peace. But let who do care about it know it.

What does the name itself imply?

Well it means, you don't really know where Barack Hussein Obama stands on foreign policy. But he did say, more or less, that he will bring the Islamic nations to a conference table and discuss their view on the US as if the solutions to terrorism is "let's have a talk". His close ties to dubious people who hate Israel are well known.

Dear Mr. Gallagher,
I believe that you have been motivated by conviction to support McCain, but I think this episode shows how profoundly misguided you have been to do so. McCain cares nothing for conservatives, and the Republican party is no longer a conservative party. The US has become the UK, where we get to choose between one party that wants to spend 2.9 trillion dollars per year, and another that only wants to spend 2.7 trillion dollars per year.

The country club types are ecstatic, of course, and think they can win without us. Maybe they're right. Let them try, and then let's take it from there.

McCain is going to lose to Obama anyway, but even if he does pull off a victory, he will be only marginally better on Supreme Court nominees (his buddy and advisor Rudman gave us the "conservative" Justice Souter), and the GOP will get the blame for the inevitable failure of liberal policies. So, the libs get everything they want, and the GOP gets to take the hit for everything that goes wrong.

Don't forget that McCain wants to close Gitmo, and open the border. He's a lib with an "R" after his name. Why should any conservative support him?

At any rate, may God bless you as you (hopefully) reconsider your unmerited (and unappreciated) support of the Mark of McCain.

Sincerely,

Norman L.

For several elections
The GOP expected conservatives to just fall in line and vote for their candidate because of the "R" behind the name. We ended up being marginalized after getting our vote as we saw the GOP slowly diminish our conservative values.

Once again, it is just expected we fall in line and vote for whoever they put up, but it isn't working this time.

It is up to McCain to earn our votes. If he refuses to, expect Democrats in power again. Don't blame us for standing for our values and principles, blame the GOP and McCain for turning their backs on American Values.

If you aren't sure of what I am speaking of about the GOP, simply look at who filed to remove the Republican candidate opposing Murtha in Pa. from the ballot.

http://www.tribune-democrat.com/local/local_story_057161603 .html

They may not be National Candidates, but I'm afraid they are indicative of what the party is becoming.

If, as Sarah says, conservatives won't statistically matter, then why all the worry and demands we back McCain?

Guilt trips, demands and fearmongering won't work any more. McCain will have to earn the conservative vote.

It is going to take a lot of energy
to keep President McCain on the straight and narrow path in the WH. It will be four years of anti-illegal immigration-type emails, phone calls, letters, telegrams, protests, petitions, public demonstrations, pressure on congress, etc. You only thought it was tough to keep up the pressure during the illegal immigration debate! You are going to be exhausted at the end of his first term.

But it is our only option!

Apollo,
did you forget to take your meds this morning?

Mike, you're no Cunningham
I was listening to Cunningham on Hannity and Combs - he was raving about the apology and shouting bile. Mike, he is not a role model, he is a creep. I am glad he is now voting democrat - hope he stays there, at least now I can say he can't be a republican because he said he was voting democrat. Thank goodness, I would get vomit in my mouth trying to make his bile fit in the party of Lincoln. McCain showed the kind of class I expect from a President.

Sarah is dead wrong!
Obama is a "movement" as Rush puts it. Mac won't beat him with "policy" talk. Obama is not talking policy. Mac will need to pull out every trick in the political notebook to beat the Obama movement, including Obama's FULL NAME, and his ties to terrorist sympathizers, and communists - even if it was from his past. He will also have to use Veterans and wounded warriors to battle the pacifist attitude of Obama.

Catch a clue!
Bill Cunningham is an Ohio institution. >>>>

Cunninghan is a hater ... just like the rest of Radical Right Radio Whores. You people are hated by the majority of Americans ... that's Reagans majority. And that hatred is spread liberally over every conservative. That's how we lost our majoirty. You turned conservative into a dirty word.

The way Cunningham pronounced Barack HUSSEIN OBama is politics of the most base. Just to prove my point, Cunningham's screed over Juan McCain is just the kind of mindless hatred we don't need!

We can beat Bracks brains out on the issues! The last thing we need is for every Juan and his brother being pushed into the democrat party by what is at best borderline racism.

Wake up and smell the Starbucks, republicans!

Radical Right
There is no way on God's green earth John McCain can win without the conservative vote.>>

John McCain is being nominated by the majority of conservatives. Reagan Big Tent Conservatives, not to be confused with Rushites and their ideological Burka. Rush and his radio clowns aren't conservatives. Ronald 'never speak ill of another republican' was a conservative. When Reagan talked about conservative principles the majority of Americans decided they were conservatives. When Rush and the Radical Right talk about conservative principles the majority of Americans walk away. Reagan brought americans together. The Rushites want to measure repulicans on some lunatic purity scale, and divide us into Neo Cons, moderates, McCainiacs, ect. Well, I've got new for them! WE are the conservatives, and they are what liberals have called them for years ... Radical Right lunatics.

Please feel free to cover your backside by inviting foreign nationals into the party. What is the difference between spiteful you and sanguine me? I believe in something greater than just winning. Winning has gotten us politicians (liberal and conservative) who are looting the store, selling us down the river, feathering their nests, and fooling you.

The Apology
Mr. Gallagher,

I really am surprised that you did not see the apology coming. Senator McCain is a backstabber and a liar. Don't listen to his words in this campaign, look at his voting record and his actions, public and private. This man is a liberal. His politics are left of Senator Clinton's and approaches Senator Obama. He actions prove that he is not worthy of *any* elective office, certainly not POTUS. He is not trustworthy, and will say or do anything to further his political career. He will take one side today, and vote the other - especially if he gets to vote for liberal causes.

I suggest you reconsider your support for Senator McCain.

McCain must have conservatives.
Sarah perspective of McCain getting 45% and Obama/Clinton 40% is not realistic. Nader will pull at best 2% or less. McCain and Obama/Clinton will split 98% of those who vote. Current polls show that Obama/Clinton already command 45% to 47% of the likely voters, and that isn't going to change. The reason being that McCain is a well known quantity. The battle for this election will be fought over the 10% or so who are undecided. In election after election we've seen that the public is evenly divided between the Democrats and the GOP. Bush, for example, eked by Gore while losing the popular vote, and then beat Kerry by 2%. Obama/Clinton are no more liberal than Kerry. The idea that American's are "center-right" is equally not born out by voting patterns. McCain is a mirror image of Bush in many ways. Their foreign policies sound and look alike, both led the fight on the immigration bill, and both come off as relatively liberal republicans on domestic issues. There is a belief that policy statements will win or lose the election. I disagree. In the Senate you now have 12 senators divided equally between the parties working on health care legislation that will cover all Americans, and both parties are working on more immigration reform legislation, and some form of energy independence. What a minority feel are hot-button issues will neutralize each other. McCain was right to note that he must persuade Americans on his vision of the war, since the majority don't support it. And, in even larger numbers, they're rejecting the idea that using military force can win the war on terror, and that we should be involved in nation building.

McCain must get the votes of all conservatives, not just some. And he needs them to be energized. This election will come down to the same divisions that Bush-Gore and Bush-Kerry reflected. If 1% of the vote had shifted, Bush would've lost both elections. Think about it.

Free Ramos and Compean
Write in a name folks, it is still a free country! Well, until McQuack comes up with more ideals on how to kill free speech.

You haven't convinced me, Mike
Do you remember the First President Bush and how he pledged "No new taxes" and then reneged? The reason he did that was because he was never a fiscal conservative to begin with. He poked fun at Ronald Reagan's economic policy calling it voodoo economics. He only started supporting fiscal restraint when Reagan tagged him for vice president. I was not even surprised when he flip flopped, and I hope you are not disappointed when McCain does not appoint the kind of judges you want, does not pass laws supporting the sanctity of life, puts even more restrictions on the ownership of guns, and gives our country away to Mexico.

A leopard cannot change its spots. McCain did not support any of the things you mention until he got his eye on the Republican presidential nomination. Mark my words, he cares more about the approval of the intelligentsia than he does you, and he will knife you in the back once elected.

You don't beat a guy by
resorting to childish 3rd grade name-calling as Cunningham did, McCain was right to apologize and showed the class those who have met him associate with the man.

You beat him by taking the high road, clinton is getting her clock cleaned for doing what Cunningham did, wake up.

Obama is a slick huckster with a resume so thin you could read through it and has stated some positions that are easy to shoot down with facts.

He argues the past, he voted aginst the war, big deal, we are IN a war and he wants to surrender.

He'd go back to Iraq if need be, he has no clue as to how difficult and costly it is to move an Army division, we'd have to fight the war all over again and lose every advantage we have gained due to the surge, which was brilliant strategy by Gen Petreus. The liberal fools made fun of his name too and radio folks chewed their tails for it and rightfully so, can't have it both ways, makes us look as stupid as they are.

The way to beat Obama is to take each of his positions and shred them with logic, raising taxes in the middle of an economic slowdown is just plain stupid. How about cutting the waste out of the ridiculous programs we now suffer to pay for or the programs themselves, I fed my kids, feed your own, you made them.

Social security is going bankrupt, obama wants to lift the cap and raise FICA taxes, really dumb idea. Show the youngsters who are so hot for him how they'll be 75 before they see a dime of their much reduced benefits because the dems like him will not even discuss privatizing even a portion of it.

That system could be totally privatized and changed out over 20 years and the problem would be solved, trouble is, people will become Republicans when they see how they have been hosed all these years.

We don't need to call him names, just point out what will happen if the people are so stupid as to elect him.

McCain is dumber than dirt if he
thinks the media will like him for throwing conservatives under his bus. The media is going to destory McCain and he has no clue it is coming.

McCain just LOVES the "friends" he is making in the MSM and is a deer in headlights when they begin to assassinate his character. He is too caught up is his OWN "they will come to me anyway" insanity.

If he thinks he is going to get more votes than the Democrats, look at the numbers people, not just the numbers at rallys but actual votes being cast. It will be a slaughter in November.

John Sidney McCain III you should apologize for all the LIFE you want to destroy (Embryo's for Stem Cells), Illegals you want to stay, money you now NEED (McCain-Feingold), global warming hoax (Carbon Taxes)...on and on. The problem is NOT Conversatives, it is YOU!!!

John Sidney McCain III has been drawn into the trap of surrounding himself with YES people while being lead to the slaughter house!!

Sleep with dogs, you will get fleas!!

Voting Huckabee Tuesday in Texas then

WRITING A NAME IN in NOVEMBER!!!!!

conservativelibrarian
I think you meant wimpy not whippy. But McCain is a wimp. He is scared to death to do anything that puts him on the wrong side of the liberals. In short, he is a butt kisser. If he is elected president, he will spend his entire term kissing the behinds of the liberal establishment.

Watch and see.

Mike
McCain would refuse to nominate a Constitutionalist for SCOTUS for one main reason. His pride and joy is McCain-Feingold, and a Constitutionalist justice would vote to overturn that anti-Constitutional law.

All 3 parts of the Crawfish Party Platform 2008 are now available at The Swamp.

Thomas
People like you make me tired.

You are all rhetoric and no substance. What, exactly, makes you a conservative? What, exactly, makes the so called right wing nuts, nutty.

Give specifics. Talk issues. I just don't understand what it is that true conservatives support that you RINO's find so offensive.

Tell it to me straight, and don't talk about the campaign. Talk about the real issues. Do you think we should give social security to illegal aliens, what? What? Tell me what it is that conservatives value that you find so unacceptable that you want to call us names.

Middle Name
You'd think Obama had pulled a Cassius Clay or Lew Alcindor and changed his name to Hussein, instead of having it given to him at birth, in 1961 no less.
Obama's middle name is completely irrelevant except for those who are bent on tying him to Islam, a strategy based on lies that he attended a madrassa as a child and that his stepfather was a radical Muslim.
Those who drink that kool-aid, like Cunningham, are so marginalized and off topic in general, that even many conservatives who listen their programs roll their eyes and cringe.

I say way to go McCain and the RNC for wanting to raise the level of debate above base bigotry and innuendo. Those that champion Cunningham's juvenile approach really don't understand America's values.

What Kind Of Judges?
I think I could win a sure bet on the judges to be appointed by Clinton or Obama. What kind for McShame? To fit his image of himself? Wait, before I answer for him, let me get near a mic and TV camera so I can say what people expect me to say. But don't hold me to it. McCain doesn't not speak appropriately for the Arizona people he is supposed to represent. So why should I expect him to represent me living hundreds of miles from his state? What to expect from the Demo candidates - easy - as far left as a heavily weighted Congress will permit - same as from FDR, Truman, and LBJ. What from McVain? Whatever he wants, not what I want.

the irony is palpable
First let me be clear: there is no 'moral stand' McCain has taken. Period.

There is nothing wrong with saying the guy's name or mentioning the Chicago Daly political outfit. Nothing he said was untrue or deceptive in any way ; only priests of political correctness will say otherwise.

Second, its highly ironic to me that Leftists have dumbed down the population with the K-12 public schools over the years (and blocked vouchers) THEN they are worried that hearing the name HUSSEIN will make them think 'Muslim'.

Hilarious.

McCain is Right
Cunningham is wrong.
Obama's middle name is completely irrelevant.
If there hadn't been widespread lies that Obama attended a madrassa as a child and that his stepfather was a radical Muslim, then few would care. But now it's seen as a perpetration of those lies, as if Obama, like Cassius Clay and Lew Alcindor, changed his name to Mohamed Ali or Kareem Abdul Jabar.

Guys like Cunningham are further marginalizing themselves and represent a tiny fraction of conservatives, just as Howard Stern represents a tiny fraction of liberals.

An Open Letter to Sen. John McCain
McCain could have done a much better/gentler repudiation on the Cunningham comments. There was no need to be so passionate in the disclaimer.

I am a staunch conservative and listen to Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin but I weed out the Kool-Aid when I hear it. I do not get much Kool-Aid from those three but from my brief exposure to Cunningham it appears he is full of far right wing Kool-Aid.

Cunningham was obviously using the Hussein to stir up the Muslim card. He should not be denying that now.

I do not like Cunningham.

I think McCain needs to be a little more concerned with his willingness to throw people under the bus. His campaign people had to know Cunningham was far right and is almost a shock/jock.

They should have vetted his speech and got approval before hand. That would have been professional. I blame his campaign manager for this issue. Using Cunningham was a hell of a good idea considering his audience in Ohio. Had this gone well he would have gone a long way in getting the ultra conservatives in Ohio on the McCain bus.

I applaud McCain’s insistence on fair play but he must not think it will be reciprocated by the DIMS or the MSM when the chips are down. Remember the NYT recent story? Just yesterday we had the story about him being born in the Panama Canal zone and that he might not be a “natural born citizen” as required in the Constitution.

Conservatives, Regan Democrats, Independents and Republicans, we have to elect McCain or we are in deep kimchee.

pancho
Since the words 'Muslims' and 'madrassa' were not mentioned by Cunningham, can I borrow the crystal ball you are using to deduce Bill's use of it?

You are talking out of your alimentary canal.

Yet once again.
McCain has proved he's an idiot. The ability to think on his feet so aptly alludes him. His greatest gift seems to be the alienating of those whom he expects to vote for him. May he quickly disappear into the garbage heap of liberal history, which to this anti-constitutional moron would probably be paradise. Maybe him and Obama can share those 70 virgins.

HAHA!
Wobbie has his thong in a wad over McShamnesty!

Guess what dipstick? The base has WALKED AWAY from your boy and if there is a brokered convention, and I pray there is, McShamnesty will be TOAST!

The Crawfish
Great point on McVanity and his highly UNConstitutional McSHame/Feinwad Act. When they bury him, I'm going to print out the act and hot glue it to his grave marker. Let THAT be his legacy of shame.

What a cheap plug!
No Mike, you are not one of those annoying Conservative talk show host. You will not stand besides Rush, Mark, Laura, and and Ann. Those are the Conservatives the critics have been attacking. You've done nothing but play it safe going after the above for what they've said about McCain. Now you want to take credit along with the other's for what they did in objecting to McCain as the so called true Conservative. This open letter to McCain was for your benefit and your benefit along. You saw the right opportunity to grandstand and distance yourself even further from Rush, Mark, Laura, and Ann. The other opportunist Michael Reagan beat you to the punch. He's alredy offered himself up for making appearances with McCain to show what Ronald Reagan what of done. If you wanted to make appearance with McCain to show the GOP and the media that Conservative talk radio supported McCain, you should have contacted McCain on your own behalf and not include yourself with Rush, Mark, Laura, and Ann who puts their butts out there on a regular bases protecting the Republican party, and what thanks have they gotten. None.

1/2 right is just as wrong
Mike nice try but the RNC has threatened Tennesse Republicans for the same thing Cunningham said. The truth has always been a huge problem with our party. We know what it is but fear it. I mean what would happen if Obama got call Barrack Heusein Obama every single day from now through the general election? I bet he would start getting excited at some point usually the truth and what's behind it cause that. Obama has huge skeletons in his closets and those controversial issues will be off limits with John Sydney McCain on the GOP ticket. We don't need to vote for another RINO if the rest of this country is too stupid to edjucate themselves on what Obama would do as president making it our fault be propping up McCain to beat him is stupid and non conservative. Part of conservatism is faith in principles those who modify their beliefs to settle on a candidate are liberal. Bush was about as far moderate as I go sorry but Sydney will have to go somewhere else for a vote he can't earn mine. I will vote but I think it is more important for us to focus on Senate and House control. When a third party candidate beats McCain it will DESTROY the RNC at least if we control congress we can keep the democrats from pushing their agenda

The Great One said it best
Mark Levin said that McCain does not reach across the aisle, he walks across the aisle, puts on their uniform, and dings their fight song.

Vote for "none of the above" in Nov. Write it in.

correction
should read sings, not dings.

911
I've read over and over comments from fellow neocons that this country needs another 911 to wake up the public.
I think a hillary or barack presidency qualifies nicely, don't you?
( and we didn't even blow anyone up).
Since becoming a conservative after 911, every time I got my hopes up that we might see some real "change", and by that I mean that the good ol' boy network practices which have pulled the country so far to the left would have some meaningful PUSHBACK- the spineless republican party caved.
The annointing of JM by the mushy mainstream over vastly better choices is the last straw.
I gleefully await the fallout if a dem wins in November, and since the idea of armed insurrection doesn't scare me (since it's the only way left to affect real changes if the electoral process is rendered irrelevant) I couldn't care less about the consequences.
I'd rather deal with issues up front than in the back room surrounded by fellow bi-partisan thieves in expensive suits.
I care about tomorrow, let today take care of itself.

McCain is the problem
McCain would rather trash conservatives than the liberals. Doesn't that openly reveal where his allegiances lie? He is an ego-driven, thinly-disguised liberal who will not get the conservative vote.

The RNC will have a debacle on its hands if they continue to support the nomination of someone who defies the laws of this country with his campaign finance and illegal immigration support.

I will vote third party to support someone who believes in my values.

Democrats have a messiah
we have Oscar from the Odd Couple. We will get clobbered.

McCain--Apologist & Liar
I posted something to this earlier in the week. If that annoys you, too freakin' bad!

I watched this whole Cunningham-McLame thing on CNN....McLame apologizing (appeasing) 3 times.

Gawd, I nearly puked!

Hey Mclame: Don't forget to apologize for slavery, AIDS, winning WW2, capitalism, the Internet, Tony Romo, and everything else under the sun.

Also, McLame is a Liar. On CNN he said he had never met Bill Cunningham before. Not True. According to Cunningham, they have met on 2 separate occasions, and chatted briefly. One was at a person's house, one at a country club.

One of these "encounters" was only 6 months ago, and one included Sen Mike DeWine (R, OH). Hey Johnny, are you so senile already that you can't recall these 2 meetings?

Welcome to the Face of the 2008 GOP: A lying, senile, spineless Dhimmi.

equating radio jocks with angelina jolie
It makes as much sense to have radio talk show hosts determine our view of John McCain as it does for the actress Anjelina Jolie to determine our view on the "surge" in Iraq(see "On The Blog Now", at Townhall.com..."Angelina Jolie on the Surge").

Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michael Moore, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Bill O'Reilly....none of these people get to decide what I think on Iraq, McCain, or anything else.

Just another RINO
Having threatened (at various times) to transfer to the "democrats" to "get his way", RINO McCain is nothing less than a democrat masquerading as a Republican hoping to obtain votes of Consitutionalists along with the votes of anti-constitutionalists who recognize McCain for what he is at heart - a communist.

The only way McCain will get elected is if enough non-Constitutionalists (both RINOs & democrats) vote for him. In this election Constitutionalists may not cast a vote (maybe a "write in") as at this time, there are no true Republicans or "lesser of evils" running for office - the remaining candidates are all anti-constitutionalists/pro-communists.

Never embarrass your guest
The rally was supposed to be about MCCAIN, not conservatism generally or Republicans generally.

The point was to get the crowd fired up about MCCAIN, not conservatism.

Cunningham's use of terms like "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" does nothing to get the crowd fired up about McCain. The kind of people who think Obama's middle name is significant are the kind of nativists who won't vote for McCain due to "shamnesty" anyway.

You heard what Cunningham then called McCain--he used a Latino slur. Using Latino names as if they are slurs tells me that Cunningham--and his supporters--would rather be cheering Michelle Malkin than McCain. Instead of denouncing Obama, Cunningham should rack his brains to figure out something nice to say about McCain.

These anti-"shamnesty" activists are irreconcilable. McCain should just ignore them.

Having Obambi or Shrillary anywhere near the Whitehouse would be a 911 unto itself!

McCain
What choices do we have?
Does anyone think that McCain's objectives are to guarantee a Democrat win in 2008? I think so because he does not have the a strong conservative base so many will NOT vote at all. A NOT vote is a vote for pure Socialism

Maybe he's a plant. Think how underhanded the government has been in the past. Maybe George Soros, the darling of liberals bought him out.
Who knows!

I will unfortionately be forced to vote fot McShame.

In actuality I say to hell with McCain and lets push to get JOHN BOLTON into the race.

Who ever wrings their hands, cries and complains the most about the Republican candidate, is the Republican candidate for the presidency

JOHN BOLTON FOR PRESIDENT

I'm A Conservative Liberal Republican
That's what McCain said yesterday. Anyone on this board able to tell me what a "conservative-liberal republican is?" Excuse me for my ignorance, but there's no such word in the dictionary. Does it mean that when I'm facing right I'm a conservative, but when I'm facing left I'm a liberal? Talk about tortured syntax. But not to worry, I can see clearly how those who don't like my brand of conservatism can support McCain. If you listen to what he says - he's all things to everyone.

It was a mistake
...by both parties. Cunningham should not have used BO's full name. It is his legal name, no question. So why the controversy? Because the media & the demos use events like this as fodder to fuel the 'they-are-racists' tag.

Accordingly, the focus becomes something one has no control over (a given name) whereas something one is entirely in control of (a far-left record) goes unmentioned. This was Cunningham's mistake.

Then the McCain stepped in it. His reaction before reflecting on the implications of the situation was unwise. This was McCain's mistake.

As for the media, they played it perfectly by underscoring a perceived bias among Republicans against those who are 'different.'

Good news, though, guys: it is early in the campaign; mistakes were made, but wounds heal.

Get over it.

for pecanrancher
pecanrancher writes: "why in the HELL did mccain say anything! is it now against the PC law to use someone's full name??"

Because McCain wants to run a clean campaign. McCain wants to stick to the issues, especially the War on Terror. And not engage in personal character assassination against Obama.

You're falling into the same trap Hillary did. The more that Hillary tried to use gutter tactics against Obama, calling out her "opposition research" attack machine to dig up dirt on Obama, the worse she looked and the better he looked.

McCain doesn't want to play that game.

If we really believe that we are right on the issues, why do we need to make insinuations about Obama's character in order to win the election?

It's one thing to tell voters "Obama is anti-gun" or "Obama is pro-abortion." Those are valid attacks on Obama's stance on the issues.

But to imply that Obama is some kind of Muslim "Manchurian candidate" is a whole other story.

That is the implication of harping on Obama's middle name. If Obama's middle name were "Smith," would Cunningham have harped on it? Would anyone else?

What's the difference between being named "Smith" and being named "Hussein"?

Do you know what the word "Hussein" means in Arabic? It just means "handsome one."

The blinding vanity
that McCain has regarding the MSM is as thick as the smoke from a Southern B-B-Q. He really thinks that reaching across the aisle and taking the "high road" will carry the day. If he really carries the GOP nomination, I wonder if he and his supporters will express hurt and shock when the media dragon turns on them. Regarding Cunningham, he might not have agreed, but "Bubba's" advice (posted above, not Bill "Bubba" Clinton)would have served McCain well. The enemy of my enemy is my friend... translation: The Democrats are not his friends. McCain needs every ally he can get, including all of us nuts that like the Constitution, bear arms, will die for freedom, and The United States of America. We don't like the government telling us to give more taxes so that they can buy votes from unnamed folks that we don't really know, support unproven theories that have been popularized by Hollywood movies, and we don't usually want to build transvestite toilets everywhere. To us, "diversity" means ideas, not skin color and gender. I know that's a big problem for the "middle-of-the-road" GOP folks, but there is a bunch of us that really have principles that cannot be eroded or compromised away.

Nothing to lose and everyting to gain!
I understand that we conservatives have no choice in the general election but to support John McCain, to do anything else is mere stupidity, but I am exasperated that you guys don't support the only real conservative in the race, Mike Huckabee.

I realize he cannot get the prerequisite number of delegates to win and even if he can't prevent McCain from attaining the magic number thus forcing a brokered convention, we (social conservatives and secular conservatives) can still hold his feet to the fire forcing him to take notice that he cannot continue to ignore and turn on us if he wants to win in November.

If McCain debates Huckabee in the near future I am confident Mike will clean his clock and at minimum force him to move to the right on issues. Hopefully then the elite conservative media and the Republican establishment, who are both responsible for McCain's ascendancy, will realize that they not only bet on the wrong horses in the primaries but completely missed the mark by discounting Mike Huckabee.

He is by far a better debater, more likeable, more articulate, more even tempered, more conservative and more adept at taking head on all the nasty garbage the Democrats and MSM will hurl at our candidate in November (This is evident by having served over 10 years as a Republican governor in a state historically controlled by Clintonistas and corrupt Democrats).

So please start encouraging people to employ the only sensible strategy available to us today and support Mike Huckabee. Conservatives will have nothing to lose but everything to gain!

Another 911 anyone?
I've read time and again that this country needs another attack to get the public motivated.
I think a hillary or barack presidency qualifies, don't you?
Don't blame conservatives because the mainstream annoints JM over vastly better candidates and he gets creamed; mushy middle plastic people did that.
Let's face it, if you consistantly let down your core constituency on critical issues- your good looks and glib tongue will only get you so far on TV news magazines, and will eventually cost you large.
Time to pay up.
I gleefully await a dem win in November, for no other reason than it's the only thing that might give the republican party a spine, and they might give up on the notion of bi-partisanship and start fighting to take our country back.
You say,"But the SCOTUS! The WOT! The dead babies!!!!"
Even when republicans had the majority, they didn't push back the lefty pimps or behave conservatively, and I'm tired of lip service.
If it takes armed revolution to secure the liberty of citizens from the elite effete in the beltway- so be it, but I'll settle for electing candidates who are devoted to tearing down long-established congressional ennui and actual reduction of the size of govt.
Anything less is unpatriotic, unproductive, unethical and utopian.

pancho (the lefty)
I don't know about anyone else, but I am sick and tired of "political correctness". There is a little phrase in the constitution about "free speech". Seems like to me,the only people who are not free to use it are "white conservatives". If free speech does not include lies, what's the problem? If we speak about black people being the largest per capita in jails today,we are racists.Talk about black women whose children now being born are overwhelmingly to unmarried mothers, with no way to support them, except the taxpayers generosity(including white conservative, taxpayers),and we are racists.Complain about Mexicans flooding out borders and using our resources and we are called racists.
All this brings to mind that there are certain folks that cannot be criticized. There is another group that more and more think they are beyond criticism.Criticize them at your peril. It is not as bad here as in other countries, but is growing here.
Again, not being "politically correct",I say,if it is the truth, what is the problem?

I thought
McCain showed a lot of class. We can beat the Dems on issues, and don't need to fear monger.

I am Changing my name to....
None of the Above....Now here is my platform...

1) I will cut gasoline prices to $1.50 by the end of my first term. The president's first responsibility is defending our country. I will sign an executive order to force relaxing restrictions on drilling and refinement. Energy is part of SECURITY!!!

2) Immagration is broken and I will shut it down entirely. We will start a deportation quota at 5 million per year. By changing our energy policy we will be in a better position to sanction Mexico the willing accomplise. We will cut off any country who will not accept return of its' citizens and more immportantly its' criminals.

3) As president I will pursue all nations that support terror. We love our family and friends they love Mecca. Not all muslims are terrorists. But it is a pandemic in their religion. The only solution is for those who are not to prove they condem this radical illness. We will talk to the enemy, we will discuss their power and targets we will destroy if they continue this war. A mutually assured destruction of Mecca is a deturent to war.

I am None of the Above and I apporve this message

What did you expect, Mike?
"And then along came Cincinnati."

McCain has spent the last 8 years sucking up to liberals in the media by bashing conservatives and conservatism. Did you expect him to turn on a dime and start being a team player just because the elitist RINO weenies at thr RNC made him the captain?

McCain's own staff asked Cunningham to "fire up" the crowd. To ask him to do this and then expect him to bash the Democrats would have been like adding two and two and getting four, if the McCainiacs lived in the real world and took the time to do the basic math. But the McCainiacs still think two and two can be five because the libs in the media have brainwashed Johnny into thinking two plus two can be whatever he wants it to be.

So when Cunningham gave them a basic arithmetic lesson, that two plus two is indeed four, they were shocked.

What's going to happen when/if a President McCain has to find out the hard way from nuts like bin Laden, Kim Jong Il, Ahmadinejahd, and Mugabe that two and two is in fact four, has always been four, and will always be four?

This bozo is not qualified to be President.

Disaster
Mike implies that Ann Coulter does not understand that Clinton or Obama will be a "disaster", but what Mike and other Repubs do not understand is that any liberal Presidency will be a disaster.

Conservatives with a lick of sense want to make sure the inevitable disaster leads our country back toward conservative values and principles. This is most likely to happen with Clinton or Obama on the throne.

Conservatism is already taken on water...should McCain bet he one at the helm when we hit the iceberg, we could be sunk.

I'm voting Obama in 2008. I'll never vote for a lberal Repub again. That is my promise.

straight talk coward McCain
Face it!

Mr McCain is a coward and quickly apologizes profusely like some 90 lb weakling does against the star football player. I guess it tells you about the man today.

Sure he is a survivor but his bone headed decisions really are revealing! If we capture Osama Bin Laden, will he be afraid to mention him by name? ** whisper ** What will teh Muslims think?

His performance in school (5th from the bottom) and inability to work in the private sector as ANYTHING tells everything you want to know about McCain.

He is a do nothing, know-nothing wannabe that got his wife's daddy to give him money so he can play Senator and run for the POTUS.

A Pretend Conservative
Something happened to those Viet Nam veterans. If they went into politics, they were all(?) nuts. Kerry, Murtha, McDermott, McCain and others that I can't recall their names, just seem to hate this country and undermine it. Won't vote for McCain no matter what. Another pretend conservative from the RNC (really not conservatve) is worse than a "we hate America" democrat.

Good. Let the Dhimmicrats bring about a "change" for the worst, as they have done every other time, economically and/or national security wise.

It's about time that the American voters feel some PAIN so that they get angry enough to say ENOUGH! and act on it.

Speaking of acting on it, check out the NEW POST of Obambi's pile of dog squeeze UN bill FINALLY getting held up in the Senate after the libs tried to force it through. (I blogged THAT a few days ago!)

Editorial Letter to McCain Response
The letter written by Mike Gallagher to McCain is pointless and without a purpose for the actions McCain took. Although McCain did indeed get mad at Cunningham and Cunningham did get upset as well, McCain later on did apologize to the man. So it is clear as day that there is no need for harassing McCain for what he did and stands by if he later apologized for it. The Rights that McCain is standing for are good and better than the others running for president so it isn't that hard to stand up for McCain. McCain did apologize afterall though, so there is no need to continue with the putting down McCain and acting like were being forced to defend McCain, if we want to we can keep supporting him if not then don't. Overall I think that it was pointless to send a letter to McCain if it all worked out in the end and if McCain stood by his actions, and to keep supporting him should be the thing that we all should be doing cause he is offering us quite a "deal" you might say with the things he is willing to do for the country.

McNutt
I would prefer to have a conservative leader for president rather than an apologist. This man is mentally deranged, we do not need another mentally unstable president, we had one with Bill Clinton.

Middle names of presidents
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Lyndon Baines Johnson
Richard Milhouse Nixon
James Earl Carter
Ronald Wilson Reagan
George Herbert Walker Bush
William Jefferson Clinton
George Walker Bush

None of these men complained if their middle name is used, even in cases where the middle name is ironic (Ronald WILSON Reagan, William JEFFERSON Clinton). The reason BHO doesn't want you to use his is because it raises the question of his loyalty to the US. But if you think about it, his left-wing values made me question his loyalty to the US. His interest in holding one-on-one talks with America's most hated enemies make me question his loyalty to the US. His membership in a church that praises Louis Farrakhan makes me question his loyalty to the US.

But BHO is immune to having his name spoken now. Come on, lets get serious.

Gallagher, you're a fool
"So I’ll keep pointing out how important it is for Republicans to support a Republican like you during this 2008 election."

That's an odd way to put it..."a Republican like you." You probably should have said to McCain "a democrat like you."

Doc
You're dead-on in your assessment of McShamnesty as a "fellow traveler." He's been gaming the system ever since graduating fourth from the BOTTOM of his class. If his daddy and granddaddy weren't admirals, he'd never have gotten command of a garbage scow! He's nothing but a polished turd.

cleverness_of_me: Excellent point...

Unless, of course, one has something to hide!

I
Would MUCH rather McQuack come out and apologize to his base for his liberal ways, and sign a pledge to REVERSE his course and grow some balls to STAND up to be a REAL REPUBLICAN! Until then he is just another LIB and I will write in a name! Then I will lend support real Republicans in the race for congress and hope for the best! Do NOT sit home folks! GO VOTE. And write in the name of YOUR choice. Support real Republicans for congress!

Free Ramos and Compean
Write in a name folks, it is still a free country! Well, until McQuack comes up with more ideals on how to kill free speech.

too: ugly, short, stupid

We don't need four more years of Bush caliber stupid in the White House. Once again McVain has proven he is not ready on day one nor any day there after.

Bad news for conservatives
From an article in today's Salon.com.

"But modern biology is pointing in a different direction. It is telling us that despite how certainty feels, it is neither a conscious choice nor even a thought process. Certainty and similar states of "knowing what we know" arise out of primary brain mechanisms that, like love or anger, function independently of rationality or reason. Feeling correct or certain isn't a deliberate conclusion or conscious choice. It is a mental sensation that happens to us."

The next 500 years is going to be bad news for conservatives on the neurology front,

Robert,
"why couldnt folks like you win the nomination for Mitt or someone other then McCain?"

The conservative vote was split six ways from Sunday. The liberal vote was between McCain and Rudy. Rudy left.

McCain also won early Blue states. States that will remain Blue in November.

Of course, you already know this, don't you Robert?

I Dont Care
Obama will be a disaster. Obama will win. The elite class, the graduates of 'presitige' universities, the smart guys that got 'A's in Ward Churchill's 'America, Enemy Of Mankind 101' class all support this paragon. Our bosses who hate competition. Our 'community leaders' who want to expand their bureaucratic empires. Us uneducated sheep are just going to have to get used to it. McLame is such a totally inferior candidate that we have ZERO chance of winning, and quite frankly he wouldnt stand in the way of the Socialist tide that seems to be engulfing our nation even if some miracle convinced people to vote for him. Obama's tax, trade, disarmament, global warming and entitlement policies will cause an severe economic depression. he will have the votes in congress and the political skill to institute them all. I have always voted for the republican candidate but this year I will pick some third-party loonie and vote for him to show my contempt for the snarky, aged old turtle that the party bosses foisted on us.

BHO
If he doesn't like his middle name then he should have never started campaigning or writing books using that name. If he can't stand the heat of his middle name how is he gonna have what it takes to lead the free world? Funny, but people are already making excuses for him and he isn't even in office.

The genie is out of the bottle.

MCCAIN STRATEGY

.....Obviously McCain believes that he can be elected without the support of hard core Conservatives ...he thinks Conservatives are extreme right wing fanatics and bomb throwers and he doesn't need their support ...in others words he thinks like a Democrat ...

.....Apparently he doesn't care if Conservatives go third party or just stay home ...he thinks he can win with moderates, independents and cross-over Democrats ...he is wrong ...

.....On election day I will have a Dilemna ...I can vote "for" a man that I detest in order to keep the White House in Republican hands ...or I can vote "against" a Marxist (Obama/Hillary) who will lead our Republic down the road of Socialism ...

.....It's going to be a tough choice .....COLOSSUS

The only problem
is that McCain seems to rarely hear or see anything himself personally, so I doubt he will read this letter personally.

But, some staffer will inform him, and his conclusion will be, great, they're stuck supporting me, "my friends".

Great letter, though, Mike. I'm glad you stuck up for Bill Cunningham. I wish we had him out west here.

Proud Liberal
I have even worse news for YOU!

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."

I could not have said it any better.

You liberals are nothing by whiny-a**, hanky-twisting, bedwetting, weak-sisters and you've worked against America from your Copperhead past to your Dhimmicrat-majority Kongress having the LOWEST approval rating in our history. 11% I believe.

Thansk for making my job sooooo much easier.

People like Gallagher don't get it...

Sorry, Mike. Ronald Reagan did TOO good a job for some of us. I am a conservative first and a Republican second.

And, as Reagan once said about his decision to abandon the Dems and become a Republican, "I didn't leave my party, they left me."

Despite Michael Reagan's assurances, I'm not sold that Reagan would be a McCain supporter, as I cannot imagine the GOP having drifted this far off the reservation were Reagan alive and active.

George W. Bush campaigned on being a "Compassionate Conservative" and futilely tried to make friends with the Dems - only to become the most hated and vilified president since Nixon.

John McCain makes GWB look like a rabid partisan by comparison - and the incident in Cincinnati is just more evidence that his judgment is seriously in question.

When it comes to the 2008 election, I'm with "thebigmick". Better to have a straight socialist ala Hillbama in charge in the hopes America wakes up, than the slow poison of socialism lite that we will get with a "liberal conservative" - whatever THAT means!

PROUD LIBERAL

.....You have confirmed my worst suspicions ...Liberals don't think they "feel" ...Logic is a foreign concept to them ...Alas! The mob is about to take control ...woe is us! woe is us! .....COLOSSUS

Sophistry about Obama's middle name
As usual conservatives are looking around innocently and pleading to the crowd about how "you know I didn't hack that guy, the referee is just against me."

There's a ton of declarations on TH and I expect elsewhere, and I've heard about emails being sent out about how Obama is a Muslim (and yes a communist too). The declarations question his patriotism and include his alleged Muslim background as proof that he has more allegiance to Islam than to America. These are slimes, pure and simple.

It is within this context that Cunningham used Obama's middle name three times. He hacked Obama and everyone in the stadium saw it. Taking a stance like you're a victim is theatrics.

IT IS ALSO DISHONEST.

GunnyG
Does this mean I can put you down for half-a vote for McCain?

Primus54
The GOP would never have drifted this far to the left if Ronald Reagan had not gotten ill and kept all his faculties.

In other words McCain would never had the nerve to be who he is.

Shows what the power of real leadership can do.

Proud Liberal
So now you're a mind reader? You know exactly what was in Cunningham's mind when he used Obama's full name?

See - this is what makes you leftists so scary - little by little you push us ever closer to Orwell's 1984 vision - that what people "think" can be infallibly discerned and "wrong thinking" is punishable. "Wrong thinking" of course, being defined by leftists.

BHO
Perfect article Mike.

Lets just call him BO, that'll work.

He truly stinks, so it's just so right.

Flyfisher
Nope, not even a 1/4 vote.

I'll be writing in Thompson and Hunter.
