Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Just a few Fridays ago I got the good news about the addition of Sarah Palin to the 2008 Republican ticket. I was so excited I fired off a few rounds from my assault rifle and then hopped in the car and drove back to my office at UNC-Wilmington. I wanted to talk to some of the feminists in my department about this great breakthrough in the struggle for gender equality.

Of course, none of the feminists were in the office in the hours after Sarah Palin’s introduction as John McCain’s running mate. Maybe they were off celebrating the great moment in women’s history. I think it’s more likely they were field dressing a moose. Regardless, I was just glad to spend an afternoon at the office without having to look at a feminist.

I guess in some ways the lack of feminist enthusiasm for Palin was to be expected. But I never could have expected the cumulative hostility feminists have already shown towards Palin. One of my students recently told me that his feminist professor – in the midst of a classroom lecture, no less – deemed Palin to be unqualified to serve as Vice President because she could not control her 17-year old daughter.

It is certainly interesting to hear feminists talking about the need to control other women’s bodies. But an even more interesting question arises in the context of the call for parental control over the body of Bristol Palin: How can parents possibly control the bodies of their teenaged daughters in light of feminist opposition to parental notification laws?

This situation with Bristol Palin and with Sarah Palin’s youngest son really seems to be a large part of the feminist hostility towards the Palin candidacy. The Palins are adamantly pro-life and they live lives in accordance with their pro-life views. Indeed, Bill O’Reilly suggested recently – to a nodding Laura Ingraham – that the feminist hatred of Sarah Palin was solely about the issue of abortion.

I disagree that this hostility is all about abortion. I think it also has a lot to do with Palin’s personality – specifically with her personal courage and ability to think and act independently.

Those who don’t work around feminists fail to realize fully their incapacity for independent thought and action. The feminist response to a recent controversy in my department (Sociology and Criminology) provides a good example of what I’m talking about.

Our recent decision to hire Brian Chapman as Provost at UNC-Wilmington has been, to say the least, a source of great controversy. Chapman is a very confident and assertive man who has little problem voicing his opinions. He also has no reservations about criticizing faculty members to their faces.

Provost Chapman severely ruffled the feathers of some Criminology professors when he began to insist on a fully online degree program in our department despite the complete lack of support of the faculty. Later, it was perceived by some that he was threatening to withdraw any funding of individual online courses if the department would not agree to a complete online program.

When our Dean came to the next meeting and Chapman’s perceived authoritarianism was discussed, the behavior of one feminist really said it all. With her arms folded in her lap she raised her head up meekly and asked the Dean: “Will you protect us (from Provost Chapman).”

This has been my consistent experience with “liberal” feminists. Whenever they are unable to handle a conflict with a confident man, they ask another man to protect them. And it doesn’t matter whether the feminist has the protection of lifetime tenure. She still lacks the courage to confront the problem on her own.

A few days later Provost Chapman offended some faculty with his remarks at a joint faculty meeting. (Author’s note: A joint faculty meeting is one where all faculty members are supposed to be present although not all are expected to bring joints). The provost made some remarks about the poor attendance at the meeting, which were seen as condescending in tone.

After the meeting, a feminist in my department went into the office of one of her male colleagues and asked “Who’s going to stand up to this (offensive term for private body part deleted)”. This is typical of feminists in that it insults a male by making a crude reference to his private parts. (Author’s note: When feminists wish to endear themselves to others feminists they make a crude reference to a woman’s private parts. This is called “endearment” or, more broadly, “progress.”). Of course, it is another example of how feminists believe they need men to help them stand up to other men.

Finally, at the end of the week, when faculty in my department began to criticize the Provost via emails sent on the department email list, an interesting pattern emerged. First, one male professor sent an email criticizing the Provost. Then a second male professor joined in followed by a third, fourth, and fifth male professor. At the end of the day, five male professors exercised their First Amendment right to free speech.

Of course, not a word was to be heard from a feminist – not even the one who called the Provost a (offensive term deleted). It reminded me of my first free speech controversy at UNCW some eleven years ago. In that controversy, numerous males expressed their opinions about a controversy surrounding “indecent” sexual speech in the student newspaper. Finally, two dozen feminists signed their “joint” (read: collective or conformist) opinion on the matter. The males acted as individuals, the feminists acted as a pack.

It is true that Sarah Palin does not share my feminist colleagues’ stance on abortion. Nor does she behave the way my feminist colleagues behave in the workplace. She has a faith in God that inspires courage. She has courage that inspires individualism. And, clearly, she lacks the cowardice that is a pre-requisite for radical feminism.

Good Coulmn

Cowards and bullies always prefer a 'pack'.

Really?
If so, we must conclude Gloria Steinam and the other Feminazi's are actually Zombies although
I'd classify her as a vampire.

Yep, Ratsy..it's a pack mentality that we saw and are seeing with the cruel attacks against a 17 year old girl and a 4 month old baby..
vampires feed on blood, and the blood of
aborted babies is the best on their menu. So the pack reacted in bloodthirsty anger at the gall this girl had to carry her baby, as well as her mother's decision to carry in their opinion, a less than perfect baby, Trig.

Oh, please, Michael.
I would have to say that your columns here lack courage in that you attack the very same small, cliquish, insignificant campus "radical feminists" month after month. Such a real man! Always going for the easy kill.

You never leave the safe, cushy, uncontroversial, self-satisfied (for you) field of the RADICAL feminist. Is Hillary Clinton a feminist? I think so. Could Condi Rice be classified a feminist? I think absolutely (and she might even inspire some of those nutty feminists you so dearly love to satirize...oh you are a regular JONATHAN SWIFT, Michael! Such a FLUID, mischievious way with words you candid exposer of human folly, you...blah blah blah blah....)

Mike, the schtick is getting old. Clearly your creative juices have run dry when you hop aboard the facile, slick, glib anti-feminist gravy train and resort to the tried-and-true Townhall crowdpleaser of "RADICAL FEMINIST" (or "radical homosexual" or "miltant homosexual" or "militant feminist"...blah blah blah....)

In the end, of course, your writing gives no insights into authentic feminism of any kind at all. It's just schtick. For pay. I hope at least they're kicking you down a few extra bucks for your patience and perseverance in exploiting the same tired themes for a Townhall audience that does not appreciate challenge to its dogma. Thank you for throwing out the same rancid red meat every week....

Also, Mike....
I was hoping maybe you would write about the quite substancial subject of how a $700 billion dollar taxpayer bailout might possibly violate conservative principles.

I should have known it would still come down to the wacky, loopy campus feminists again....you are like the old scratched record albums that would skip and replay the same passage over and over and over. Stuck on stupid. Another terrorist attack could beset the United States and we'd still read about the small radical feminist and homosexual cloisters at your campus.

Oh, by the way, Mike, I see on UNCW's "diversity calendar" you are in the midst of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Mike, aren't you going to skewer these militant, radical hispanics who want to celebrate their heritage and diversity?

You awesome JONATHAN SWIFT you....(blah blah blah...)

Hey Will
This piece must have stung you pretty badly--(blah blah blah)--you can't shut up about it. Put a sock in it.

Will
You're a silly bore!

Nothing for Willy, but, . .
A brother just sent me a string of jpegs espousing the strength of Sarah's opposition in Alaska, ( 1400 whole democrats ), and I had to respond cluing him the number of republican enemies she had established these past few years. Seems the abortion factor is the biggest tool they wield, and their ignorance of true public opinion is their weakest point. They will spend the next 40+ days trying to convince Americans that we all really want what they tell us we want, and then, . . we will tell them what we really want!

Can we say...
Spot on!? Mike, you consistently expose the feministas' lack of true courage and understanding. When Palin's appointment was first announced, I figured that the usual attacks/talking points would be useless. However, true to form, the self-hating, narrow-minded, illogical, hedonistic among us spew out unfounded accusations by the armload. Will they learn better things? Not likely.

Being true to your principles is a foreign concept for them. Sexual harassment is evil...unless the perp is Bill Clinton. Women can do any job as well as men can...unless they're conservative pro-lifers. Women are in the struggle together...unless they want to make independent decisions. Abstinence doesn't work...unless you practice it. Oops.

I have an observation, too...a not-so-obvious comparison/contrast between Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin:
She is more likely to sight in her target before pulling the trigger, AND
She don't use bird shot!

Will -- trolling for offensive thoughts
and ALWAYS finding something about which to be offended.

But what finally happened? Did the provost have to resign? Did everyone's class have to go online? Was that an outrageous suggestion/ order?

Of course, that wasn't the point of the column. But who won?

Why is the NOW gang so quiet on this?
I believe NOW is between a rock and a hard place. Here they have a accomplished woman who is running for the 2nd most powerful job in the country, yet because se doesn't look like rosie o'donnel and swear like a truckdriver, she's not a feminist.
I guess only the rosies and ellens of the world are true feminists, as they appear to hate men who aren't large eared part blacks running for president.
I thought for sure Mrs. Palin would have the full backing of all the woman's groups, after all, she is winning people over because of her stance and, yes, charm.
Steinem should have been leading the cheers, that the 'good old boys' finally picked a woman withh brains and shows she is not afraid to use her means to defend herself, her positions, family and her country.

I suppose that because she isn't a left winged liberal,, her family are ok targets for any left wing columnist, male or female.
I have read some pretty disgusting things written about her in the last few days, if this same garbage was written about mrs. clinton or pelosi, there woud be a call for bloodshed.
Why doesn't OW change it's name to it's true belief 'The National Organization for Liberal Women Only?

Like I said
to my daughter when she asked me what a feminist was (and this when we were standing behind the town feminist at the grocery store-and I know she heard me!):

A feminist is a woman who wants to be treated like a man, except when she wants to be treated like a woman. I am woman, hear me whine.

Gloria Steinem needs to be put back in her mummy case. Lipstick optional.

Bet he's lying...
Will

"one last..."

Oh, that would be so nice, but I'll bet it's not to be!

"I think you feel..."

Wimps feel - men think.

"But the latinos would kick your butt."

Latinos are Italians from the Latin speaking areas near Rome - the word was used in Dante's 'Inferno'. Using it for the Spanish is word abuse, like "gay".

Does anybody else wonder about the sanity of a animal that frequents what he calls garbage and then complains about the rancid meat?

Good battle tactics, Dr. Adams!

Wow, Trivan, with a single-sentence paragraph, you've proven yourself to be a homophobic, anti-feminist racist. As an English major, I'm impressed.

Ha Ha Will
Funny schtick

Good column Dr. Adams, and enjoy Will!
Is there ever a column where Will does not post something to do with homosexuals ?, no matter the subject? The guy (and I use that term liberally) and his poster pals all team up. Undoubtedly like an animal marking the scent, the rest of the pack will soon show up.

Linda
As a homemaker I see you're only interested in reading what you want to read instead of what is actually there.

Rosie and Ellen are but two examples of what the Left defines as feminist. I rather doubt that TRIVFAN (you missed the correct spelling too) is homophobic, racist or anti-woman.

He is simply exposing the Left's hypocrisy in deciding who may or may not be a feminist. That definition of the term is always limited to liberal women, lesbian or not. No self-respecting conservative woman wants the term applied to her, in any case. As for "racist", about the only thing that's outstanding about Obama IS his ears. Or hadn't you noticed that political cartoons everywhere also caricature them? He sure hasn't got anything else we haven't seen or heard before-he is Jimmy Carter, The Sequel.

Linda the wannabee English major
nWho do you think you are? the judge, jury ,ad sentence passer on free speech and what it means? As an English major you obviously lack the critical thinking skills you demand of your students. Never have I met a homophobe. No one is afraid of homosexuality. That is a far left label to intimidate others who do not toe the homoesxual militant line. You must have missed the classes on diversity of thought, and tolerance of the views of others. To peck out a criticism of spelling is pathetic.

Actually Linda
Trivan has proven no such thing, but YOU have proven yourself to be an idiot who falsely categorizes as bigots and homophobes, people that express opinions you don't like.

NOW, how about trying to actually prove, using real facts instead of statements, that Trivan is any of the things you labeled him/her.

Sorry Trivfan
I missed the correct spelling of your name too, But unlike the "oh so tolerant of different/opposing opinions" Linda, I agree with your sentiments.

I disagree that Mike's "shtick is getting old". I very much enjoy the way he uses sarcastic wit to expose the ridiculousness of feminism. As for the bailout (which, btw, had exactly nothing to do with this article), yes, this outrageous violation of the Constitution and of taxpayers' property rights perpetrated by the Democrat-controlled congress was an egregious violation of conservative principles. What's your point?

The Fairness Doctrine Has Arrived
No, calm down - not in legislation, but in "old shtick."

I find myself listening to NPR from time to time just to remind myself what needs to change in America. You can hardly go through a day without some highlight of the gay life (what percentage of the population is gay 105%?), or some feminist slant. So where's the fairness doctrine?

It can be found in Mike Adams' column. As soon he's written as much as they are pouring out, I'll personally call for him to quit writing. Of course I'll have to ask my posterity to do that for me since I won't live that long.

Posterity? What is that? Oh, that would be the unborn of my children. Hmm, and it would appear that my unborn grandchildren also have rights to justice, domestic tranquility, a common defense, general welfare, and the blessings of liberty as outlined in the preamble to our constitution.

I'm curious, Mr. Adams - as one familiar with our laws and rights - why don't our posterity have those liberties? Is it because we ourselves don't even have them anymore? Or is it because we lack the dictionarial fortitude to look up the meaning of the word...? I'd appeciate your thoughts on this, unfortunately since it would still be basically about abortion - Will wouldn't be happy. But he does have the liberty to be unhappy, now doesn't he.

How do you do it Mike
How in the world do you work at UNC-W with all those d!%es? I don't get it Mike. I'm glad you do though; because I love the articles generated by your work experiences. Another good one.

Liberalism's hive mentality
Mike's observation regarding the 'feminist line' reminds of a lib co-worker I knew - he was quiet on a subject until I mentioned to a gathering that he never has an opinion until the union gives him one. They laughed and he turned red.

"Put Lipstick on a Feminist and She’s Still a Prig"? No, that's pig, literally. How else do you describe a woman who believes licentious, promiscuous sex and aborting their young is good and promoting the values of stable family life is bad.

Palin's candidacy and the 'feminist' reaction has made it blatantly clear that 'feminism' was never about women's advancement the same as Clarence Thomas made it clear that liberal Black patronage was never about Black achievement. They were always about destroying white religious conservative men, their kids and advancing fascist socialism.

Excellent column, Mike.

Feminazis Debunked
Sarah Palin is a letghal threat to feminazis-ideologues :
Sarah is Intelligent, genuine, authentic, self-made, pretty, happy, experienced, nurturing, compassionate, loving, warm and has the prettiest smile.

Feminazis : None of the above. They are ugly, angry, constantly whining about everything and that's why they can't hold a Man (sometimes they have a wimpy companion at best)
Are they so ugly because they are angry or angry because they are so ugly ? We'll never know..

My post disappeared?
Anyway, my favorite take on today's deminism is when Christy Whitman became NJ gov., and I said aa colleague and staunch NEA member that it was wonderful to have a woman gov., and she answered (no irony intended),

*She's not a woman.* I guess she was a hybrid.

Please excuse the typos
Yes, the bailout betrays cons. principles.

The Feminist Movement May be Dead, But
the feminists are alive and well and stinking up the joint (read--Academia). They continue to make snide, backhanded, sarcastic remarks behind independent, free thinking women who do not happen to believe the way they do. And they meet together to plan nasty little changes to the Political Correctness agenda so that they can continue to control the way people think. And the real losers are the students paying good money to get an education at our esteemed universities.

Anirban: No, you're WRONG! Gov. Palin

DID NOT advocate abstinence only.

BIG problem with the intellectually limited libs... they see something (anything) critical of Gov. Palin, and they believe it's true, and run with it.

Given the countless wild, outrageous, scurrilous lies that the left started spewing just minutes after Sen. McCain announced Gov. Palin as his VP, it's pretty safe to assume that anything a lib says about Palin is NOT TRUE.

And it is interesting that the absolute WORST of these scurrilous and offensive lies came from women... and of course, wee willie. :-)

The nuttiest attacks have been
about Palin's hair, glasses, infant, and daughter. And then there was the gem about how she might look attractive selling at a Macy's counter.

When Katherine Harris was certifying the FL vote in 2000, all the usual suspects also vilified her for her hair and makeup, and wildly lamented that she was semi-attracive in a trailer-park way.

I've always wondered where these millionaire newsies and pols. have ever gotten to know who populates trailer parks (Paula Jones was the first object of that attempted smear) or shops at Macy's.

These types of attacks also betray the typical (the way the Big O uses *typical whites*) lib. bigoted views of the little people who live below lefties' elevated intellectual and sartorial standards:

the same ones as those Bible-hugging gun nuts lurking in their Neanderthal caves in PA., who shop at Macy's and invest in trailer parks.

For the above, they'll lose the election, because the typical voter is a white middle class married male who owns a trailer, oops, property.

The Worst of Both
The "feminists" Dr. Adams writes about take the vicious, clique mentality and mental passivity that is the worst of female nature and combine it with the casual vulgarity and predatory irresponsibility that is the worst of male nature then declare that the ideal for "gender-neutral" humanity.

Governor Palin and other strong, independent, conservative women reveal the other side of the story from a culture where the best of both male and female nature -- courage, nurturing, independence of thought, the urge to provide for and protect one's own, family bonding, and confidence in one's self -- combine to create an ideal that uplifts rather than tears down.

Any rational person would have to admit that the frontier woman who could feed and cloth her kids by the work of her hands; cover her husband's back with rifle, shotgun, or revolver when outlaws came to call; and bind together with other women to uphold and promote the value of education, church, and civilized behavior even in the roughest of wilderness conditions is a better role model for our daughters than the whiny, man-hating, sex-obsessed "womyn" of accademic "feminism".

Few of us live on a frontier anymore, but that same independence of mind and spirit coupled to the same commitment to advance civilization and ward off barbarism remains the gold standard of American ideals.

Palin is a True Feminist
And without the feminist movement of long ago, we would not have heard of her. She would not have been mayor nor governer, nor a pick for VP.
She broke barriers, not to promote feminist agendas, but to better the quality of her citizen's lives. She is intelligent, tenacious, hard working, and able to have a good home life standing by her values and her faith. She loves this country.

She just simply is not a bastardized version of what the core radical feminists have become. The pack mentality of the liberals attacking her, her family and her privacy is absolutely surreal. All I can think of is what's next?

Honestly, I'm surprised Adams actually is thrilled she was picked, because any woman with a job and an opinion, he deems as a feminazi. I guess women who work and have the same opinions as him are okay in his book.

But the left is obviously threatened by her and the lies keep piling up, they know they are false and yet, are comfortable with telling.

Equal But Special
"Whenever they ['liberal' feminists] are unable to handle a conflict with a confident man, they ask another man to protect them."

That's part of the Doctrine of Equal But Special.

Mother of 4 et al

Mother of 4 wrote: "...but that same independence of mind and spirit coupled to the same commitment to advance civilization and ward off barbarism remains the gold standard of American ideals..."

The basics have NOT changed, only theoritical non-sensical ideals have.

You have used abstraction to a level that makes this complicated issue of false feminisim, simple and easy to understand why it is a failure.

Now, if we can just get men to accept their roles, we could return to normalcy and reality.

Congratulations!

Great Post!

No one knows anothers mind

Adams does NOT like 'feminists' that is clear. I think it depends on the definition of 'feminism'.

I have been married to a pro-life feminist 42 years. Together we raised two beautiful, strong minded, sucessful pro-life feminist daughters.

My women celebrate their femininity and delight in their role of being a mother and nurterer.

My women also amaze me with their abilities to multi-task and handle the myriad assortment of duties and things they accomplish with what seems to be ease.

I like and respect men who are men and women who are women - the others NOT so much.

Short story about 'change"

About 40 years ago I was taking a Sociology course called Minorities. On a test, the white female professor asked a question, list the ways in which Blacks are different from other minorities.
Two of us me, a conservative and a liberal, thought it was a open response question rather than regurgitation. WRONG! We both got our papers back with "Not my answers" written in the margin. So much for original thought.

Abstinence
I do not know if Palin advocated "abstinence-only" sex-education. But I do know that if her daughter had practiced it, she would not be pregnant. That cannot be said of other forms of birth control. Those who follow other-than-abstinence forms of birth control sometimes end up pregnant. So there is no problem with abstinence birth control. It's just that many do not practice it. There is a problem with other forms of bc...many who proctice it get pregnant anyway.

By the way, whatever happened to AudiR10? I always liked her posts.

Sorry, Shells, but Mike has many times said that he approves of and admires women such as Margaret Thatcher. So it is not a gender thing--it is values and guts. Sarah qualifies!

Governor Sarah Palin is in fact a feminist, the real kind. Women are uniquely endowed with the ability and mission to procreate and nuture the human race. Mrs. Palin does both with grace under pressure revealing an iron will. She can actually smile prettily while slipping the hatpin to Zerobama's narciscistic bubble. That pulls the rug from under those who would say her jibes are "mean spirited."

The mean spirited description should be reserved for the feminazis who instinctively unsheath their claws and fangs when a real woman appears, especially when she is as attractive as is Sarah.

Go, Sarah! (Since she is one of us, we can call her Sarah with no disrespect intended or perceived.)

Joe T
I think almost all of our parents promoted absintence in one form or another. I am not religious, but I was told to wait to have sex until I was married. I think most of us were told that.

Did we follow that advice? Heck no.

I'm 40, but I do very much recall being taught Sex Ed when I was in 5th-12th grade. Sure, we all learned about the technical terms of our bodies, the changes we go through, how to prevent pregnancies, STD's, and also how to have sex.

The one thing that they never said was, "But it's perfectly fine not to have sex until you are married."

What would be the harm telling kids to appreciate their virginity and protect it? Kids today are very much into "collector items" that have been untouched and not remove from their original box because that shows their value. Why not apply the same concept to virginity---that they have more value to those when they don't "take it out of the box."

I know that sounds silly, but I'm serious. Why can't abstinence be simply "abstaining from sex" rather than attach God to it? Teaching girls to not give it away, to have value in themselves, and to know that having sex with a boy at a young age will not make him love you, or more popular, or a happier person.

I wish someone had that talk with me. Don't get me wrong, I am a believer in pre-marital sex, but perhaps more than enough of us would've waited until we were emotionally ready and more mature, rather than giving it away so freely during our teenage years.

I think teaching both abstinence and sex ed together is a good thing to do. Palin also wants both being taught. You just can't put the bible into the teachings.

A Real Woman Speaks

"Just coming to light are the sleazy facts about Obama's relationship and shady real estate deal with Antoin "Tony" Rezko, the Arab-American fundraiser and immigrant from Syria.

Rezko has been a friend of Obama's since his days at Harvard, and Rezko was recently indicted for corruption, found guilty and sent to prison.

We ignore the stench of corruption that surrounds Obama at our peril.

As citizens, we must ask ourselves whether Obama has the character and judgment to be our president. Unfortunately, the answer is no."

I absolutely love Sarah Palin too, so don't misread me. I was planning on voting for McCain regardless of his pick, but when I learned it was Sarah, I was amazed and very happy. She is all that you stated, and more.

But I've been a reader of Adams for years now, call me a masochist if you will, but I chose to read him because most times I disagree with his broad swooping assesments.

I am so familiar with Adam's anti-feminist articles, that I actually thought to myself, "Hmm...I wonder what Adam's thinks of her..."

He at times as his points, and other times, which is more often than not, exaggerrated claims of wrong doings against him at his college where he will post his new found enemies email to get them fired or have them harrassed by his followers.

His stories are thin but the message is thick. I'm glad he likes Sarah, I'm just surprised by it. But the moment Sarah may have a different opinion than his, will he call it a political difference, or will he call it accute feminism?

That is something we will see in the months or years to come.

What's missing
What's missing from the article and the discussion so far is the point that radical feminism has always been much more about dictating men's behavior than it has ever been about freedom for women (aside from the "freedom" to have an abortion that someone else pays for).

Sexual harassment laws, speech codes, child support laws and procedures, paterity suits, and palimony are all part of this initiative.

Adams' article touches on this indirectly, with examples of feminists wanting to know if they're going to be "protect[ed]", and "who's going to stand up to this (expletive)".

In the end, Palin annoys feminists because (1) neither she nor her daughter aborted children that feminists think they should have and (2) she is not about controlling the behavior of the men in her life.

Liberal criticism of Palin is hypocritical to the umpteenth degree. They really are angry that her daughter didn't have an abortion, but instead they criticize Palin for "not controlling" her. This would be a laugh if it weren't so outrageously vile. Liberals have been promoting "free sex" and "if it feels good, do it" since the '60's.

Their other real complaint, that they don't have the stones to be honest about, is that Palin isn't forcing her hubby to stay home with the kids while she pursues a feminist dream of "balance" between career and family."

Then, when she actually does fire a male appointee for blatant insubordination they want to "investigate" her instead of applauding her decisiveness, courage, and independence (not to mention integrity).

Feminism, like environmentalism, is just another falsely noble excuse used to acquire political power so liberals can control the lives of the populace. It is putrid.

Sarah Palin
IS a feminist. A feminist for Life. All real women belong to it. We've all paid our dues for the ridicule we've received from women who don't have a brain in their heads. What Mike writes about is so true. These baby hating/killing "women" run in packs because they lack individualism. Dumb lemmings....

McCain/Palin '08!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway
Time for work for me. Go Sarah!

McCain/Palin 2008

Democrats want to keep women down

Democrats want to keep women in their place.

Democrats want women that are willing to be used and abused for purposes of ideology.

Sarah Palin is NOT an exception - there are millions of women like her.

When I first read the Palin resume, I thought I was reading the resume of my wife or one of my daughters or hundreds of other women I have worked with.

Strong, smart, exceptional shot with a handgun or rifle. Career of excellence, good mother able to out fish most anyone.

Multi-tasker, common sense able to handle almost any job, home and family.

Strong values and fearless in the face of anyone trying to attack her husband or children.

I have said for years, I fear no man and only one woman - the fear that I might fall short of her faith in me, her trust, her confidence.

She has been my best friend and advocate 42 years - long live women like my wife and Sarah Palin.

It doesn't take a village to raise a child - it takes a father and mother to raise them and one of them has to put bread on the table - why does it matter which one?

Actually, Shells,
Sarah DID give credit to Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro for their groundbreaking candidacies in spite of her political disagreements with them. No sane person can deny them that.

Mr Adams has never said or even implied he has a problem with strong, confident women being in positions of authority. He, like most other men and a lot of us women, just doesn't appreciate the unhappy, waspish, haranguing sort of women who screech, stomp, and foam at the mouth in protest of the idea that any man anywhere, much less a woman who does not fit their definition of a feminist, is going to be the boss of them.

Hmm
I always find it odd to be lectured about courage from someone like Adams who has never done anything particularly courageous in his life. He certainly never had the courage to serve in the military. However, he does have a point about contemporary feminism. It too lacks the courage that it once had. This happened because all of the major victories have been won. Nothing is more fatal to a “cause” than success.

The situation with the Provost does not support Dr. Adams’ analysis. The men, while sending individual emails, may have been encouraged to act by prior discussion; and the women in the joint opinion may have felt that a group effort would be more affective. The real theme of this column is politics.

Palin is a feminist in her own fashion just as she is a product of the feminist movement. All we have here is good old fashioned politics. And as we close in on the election, the actions of each party become more egregious.

Sarah is not typical.
Most professional women I meet seem to have the same personality, loud and pushy. Always trying to get across to you how important they are. On and on and on. Listening and the exchange of ideas are foreign. Practiced phony charm. These are the women I assume are being called feminists.
I'm guessing they are jealous of Sarah.
She has accomplishments.
She knows her work is not about her. Something most women have trouble with.
Men listen to her and look up to her.
She knows what she believes in.
Her husband is gorgeous and competent.
She is firm and soft at the same time. Like a mom.
Her thinking is clear and quick. A blessing.
And my 25 year old son and his friends think she is hot.
This might be a great start for this younger generation of men to start paying attention to what is important.

Will...
It took you 3 posts, I almost thought you wouldn't, but you managed to get in your gripe about Dr. Adams bashing on homosexuals, didn't you? In an article that had nothing remotely to do with it?

Will, you accuse Dr. Adams of hitting at the same themes every column, of becoming a one-note writer. And yet, every week, you are there, without fail, complaining about his treatment of homosexuals. In other words, you are a one-note writer. Do you realize, Will, that you have BECOME that which you hate?

FEMINAZI'S
This quote says it all:
"In short, Sarah Palin is the emblem of what feminism was supposed to be all about: an unafraid, independent, audacious woman, who soared on her own merits without the aid of a patriarchal jumpstart, high-brow matrimonial tutelage and capital, and old-boy liaisons and networking.” —Victor Davis Hanson

You have amazing name-calling skills.
I'll bet that works for you.
Did you watch that interview?
Did you read anything about the Bush Doctrine?
The interviewer squirmed when he realized she knew what he was up to. Didn't you see her eyes?
Do you think? Or do you just spout?

Obsolete
The feminists dislike Sarah Palin for the same reason Jesse Jackson dislikes Obama (remember Jackson would like to cut off Obama's nuts ... another crude reference to male body parts). They hate them because they know they are becoming obsolete.

ModMark
FYI There are 4 different so-called, "Bush Doctrines". In fact Mr. Gibson once defined a Bush Doctrine. And guess what? In the interview he contradicted himself. He had alluded to the wrong one. Give it up and get down to facts instead of basing your opinion on hatred.

First, Anirban ...
If, as you say, for ANY public figure, private is public ... I need to understand where you stood on the Bill Clinton debacle with Monica Lewinsky. Were you one who believed his faux paux was a private matter between he and Hillary, or do you believe it was a public matter? It is only important for you to answer as ... you do not get to have it both ways. Bill LIED under OATH and committed a crime. His behavior with the Intern, Monica, was disgracing his official position.

Now, as to the Governor Palin matter, I do not find where she MADE abstinence the only teaching option for the Alaskan public education system. I am sure this would have been a significant headline for the wrong-headed Lib dominated MSM. I believe you are a liar, and I believe you make up supposed 'facts' to support your lies.

Perhaps you should grow up, and 'get over it.'

My wife and I visited an area in your great state of NC - 'Sliding Rock' in the mountains.

'Sliding Rock' is a natural phenomana of moss covered rock inclined to be a natural slide. The water is only an inch or two deep at the demarcation point, ending in a deep pool.

The problem is that the water is ground temperature, about 52 degrees. It was a hot sunny day.

One slider, when hitting the cold pool below, panicked and almost drowned others by pushing them down in an attempt to elevate self and escape.

Liberals constantly 'push others down' in order to elevate self - by any and all means possible.

Liberals set themselves as the standard and then viciously attack anyone who does NOT meet their standards.

Sarah Palin and others like her, will always be attacked, demeaned and castigated by Liberals, because she has risen above and beyond their standard of what a woman should be.

Second, my favorite clown, Will ...
None of whatever you write makes any real sense. You insist on visiting Dr. Adams' editorial column, and attempting to derail the point of view he espousesfor your own agenda. In this column Dr. Adams really did not make any comment about Homosexuals, yet you still slap a foolish comment in your tripe filled comment about Homosexuals. You should find another outlet for your tripe. It grows rancid with decay, as does you internal system after you have recycled fecal matter by inappropriate sexual behavior. You must know you will pay a physical price for your lifestyle -- and a painful one. I do hope you have adequate medical insurance -- you will need it soon.

Also, what does Soros pay you for this constant dripping of scum over the columns of Dr. Adams and others. I was just wondering if it is sufficient to manage your lifestyle. If so, then you need not get up and go to work like a normal "non-homosexual deviant" person.

Awesome!!!! That should be embroidered on a pillow!!!! Please keep writing. I always enjoy your posts--maybe it's because you sound exactly like my husband!!! Add one more daughter and 10 less years of marriage and you're him!!!

" In fact while governor, she staunchly advocated abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in her state's school system while her teen daughter ended up pregnant, "

like everything the left says about Palin , i'm sure there is a small kernal of truth but we will end up finding its not true in the context you use it.

Femminist rage due to guilt?
I think I've finally figured out why there's such outright hatred and rage directed at Palin.

Being adamantly pro-life and having given birth to a Downs Syndrome baby, Palin is a living breathing repudiation of women who have had abortions. Every time they look at her face, it's a reminder to them that there's a possibility (even a slight one) they may have murdered their own child. Can you imagine the guilt this brings on? No, these women can't ever admit to even the POSSIBILITY that their abortions were wrong.

JohnR22
states: No, these women can't ever admit to even the POSSIBILITY that their abortions were wrong.

Actually--they absolutely, positively KNOW they were wrong. That is why there is so much drug abuse, repeated pregnancies (trying to replace the child) and suicide among post abortive women. And the supposed "feminists" know this. Feminists hate women as well as men. They are a spoiled breed of their own. They are basically just sluts who are trying to convince themselves and others that their lives actually matter.

If we are going to throw out stupid comments from vp's " it is patriotic to pay more taxes"

Give me a f'ing break.

If you take off your hyper-partisan blinders off may be you can see the truth

In July 31st Gubernatorial candidate Sarah Palin filled out a questionnaire on education. Excerpt below

3. Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?
SP: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.

Now that Governor Palin’s Daughter Bristol finds herself with child, I wonder of Governor Palin still holds abstinence only education is such high regard. I hope Bristol has discovered the flaws in such curriculum

Can be seen by any sane men or women alike

modmark
"Well maybe if Sarah promoted the Clinton doctrine to Bristol, oral sex only..

How gay is that remark Mark.

How gay are you?

Biden
Or how about asking a guy in a wheelchair to stand up. Imagine if Bush had done that.

You are a revolting coward. To present such a disgusting attack against a 17-year-old girl is reprehensible. Please take your vile opinions and crawl pack into your hole.

I sometimes ponder why we cannot bring back the custom of dueling. Watching Todd Palin call you out and send you to hell where you belong would be satisfying. Although I doubt whether you would have the courage to face him looking over the top of loaded pistols.
