Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Just a few years ago, Pastor Jackson got on a plane from Africa to come to the United States of America. He felt led to reach out and form a partnership with a small but growing church in Wilmington, NC. He sold his car in order to purchase the plane ticket. He put his trust completely in the Lord.

When he arrived unannounced at the airport in Baltimore, MD, he called the office of the church asking for someone to come and pick him up. They had to give him the bad news that the Baltimore airport was close to Wilmington, Delaware but not anywhere near Wilmington, North Carolina. But they managed to get him on a bus to North Carolina so they could listen in person to why Pastor Jackson thought he had been led to contact them in the first place.

Not knowing where to put their surprise visitor from Africa, the church staff got him a hotel room. After listening to him address the staff, one of the young pastors named Mark drove him back to Baltimore and put him on a plane back to Africa.

When Mark returned from his seven-hour ride with Pastor Jackson he was convinced that his ministry was one that was worth supporting. The young North Carolina church was struggling financially and trying desperately to save money for its first building. Nonetheless, they were asked to consider giving 10% of their budget to Pastor Jackson’s ministry.

One of the young pastors remarked that it would be insane to give 10% to this man’s ministry at a time when their own church was struggling financially and without a building of its own. Another replied with a pointed question: “Do you think God will punish us for giving too much money to African children?”

The staff prayed as a group. At the end of the prayer and without further discussion they all looked up and said “Let’s do it.”

If you look at a chart of the growth of Port City Community Church in Wilmington, NC, you can see that the biggest jump in attendance followed that leap of faith resulting in giving 10% of the church’s budget to Pastor Jackson. Just eight years after holding its first service, Port City Community Church recently had to turn people away from its doors as it packed over 3700 people into five Sunday services. Plans for a new building have had to be modified to accommodate unexpected growth.

I believe that stories like this show that God has a plan for every person and for every church. And God rewards those who respond boldly and decisively to His plans.

When I mentioned in a recent column that I was signing over 100% of any future royalties from my latest book to Pastor Jackson’s Hope 127 Project I received an unexpected torrent of hate mail. Many of those emails asked how I could possibly donate proceeds to a foreign charity instead of one here in the United States. What I have already said in this column explains the specific calling but it does not address the larger issue of choosing foreign over domestic charity.

Those who are adamantly opposed to giving to foreign charity, especially if they are Christians, need to take some consolation in the fact that atheism is on the decline in the world today. And they can also take some consolation in the fact that Christianity is the world’s fastest growing religion.

But the good news about the Good News is not all coming from the United States of America. In fact, the real reason Christianity is winning is because of what is happening on continents like South America, Asia, and Africa. And that success has led many like me to view foreign Christian charity as a good investment.

I want those who hastily fired those critical emails to consider the location of Jesus’ birth and ministry. Is it a coincidence that God chose a place where Asia, Europe, and Africa intersect? We are all free to believe this to be a coincidence. But Christianity is not for those believing in a random universe.

When we ask ourselves “Where Would Jesus Donate, WWJD?” we should remember that God donated His Son to save an entire world. And the distinction between foreign and domestic charity has long been washed away with the blood of Jesus.

good point mike
the atheist will e trolling all over this one
OH, and sorry WILL- you didnt get to be first again

although
im sure Will is trying to find a way to make it a subtle anti-gay piece even as i type these words

I would say....
Mike, I would say donating royalties from your book is putting your money where your words come from. But alas, as fredo1 says the trolls will still find something wrong with it. They have no class and do not recognize it when they see it.

Mike....
Would you please in a future article let us know what and how the ministry to which you are donating is doing? I recently read that South Africa has the highest population of HIV infected people in the world. They surely can use some help in teaching sexual abstinence and monogamous married relationships.

nosy folks
I heard the same complaints a few years ago when Bill Gates and his wife set up a charity to help people in Africa: "How DARE you NOT support charity in the U.S.?" Folks, it's their money, they earned it - legitimately, even - and, barring morally and legally reprehensible activities, they have the right to spend it any way they choose.

WE
spend billions of dollars into charities in this country every year. Look at the countless billions sunk into NO, and the stated gov has wasted most of it, with little growth in most areas. I think americans can send their charitable donations where ever they see fit. Mike, I hope you sell millions of copies of your book!

why?
I’m an avid critic of Mike’s but I can’t find anything wrong with this. This charity seems to be a noble cause and it shouldn’t matter how or where you give. The bottom line is that Dr. Adams is helping people in need. I don’t think the “trolls” will have any problems with the column. They will probably have trouble with the people who consistently equate dissention with being a troll.

For a while,
shining beacons of God’s message came from England, and later from the United States. Now the light is shining brighter and brighter in the places Mike said. Also in Korea and elsewhere, the light continues to shine brighter as well.
It seems, at first, that Pastor Jackson went to the wrong airport. But God doesn’t make mistakes, and just maybe he directed Pastor Jackson there. How else could he and Pastor Mark have had a seven hour uninterrupted visit and discussion that ended in an even greater commitment from the NC church that richly blessed and expanded the Christian community on two continents?
Thanks, Mike, for reminding us that even if our light is dimmer than it used to be, it certainly is not out. And also among your various messages, keep reminding us that personal integrity plus personal responsibility, along with a personal focus on the God who made us, will give us lives far richer than any “nanny state” can ever hope to.

check this out all
Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers a question time.

One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his
name is.
He replies, "Kenneth."

"And what is your question, Kenneth?"
"I have three questions:

First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband's eight years in the office as
President?

Second - why would you run for President after your husband
shamed the office?

Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?"

Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kids that they will continue after recess.

part II
When they resume, Hillary says, "Okay, where were we? Oh, that's right question time. Who has a question?"

A different little boy puts his hand up. Hillary points to him and asks him what his name is.

"Larry."

"And what is your question, Larry?"

"I have five questions:

First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband's eight years in the office
as President?

Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office?

Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House

final part III
Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early?

And Fifth - what happened to Kenneth?"

bad gifts to Africa
Essie, Bill Gates and his wife have not given good gifts to Africa in that they donate a great deal of money to planned parenthood (barrenhood) Africa has billboards which inspire use of condoms, thanks to the Gates. These encourage sexual promiscuity, a cheapening of respectful relations and family ties. Even the UN Conference on Aids has called efforts to stop aids there an "utter failure". There has been more work getting condoms distributed than assisting people truly respect their own bodies and those bodies of others. Real love, wait for marriage love, sacrificial love does not make the list. So when you think people sending money to Africa help the people, ask what are they doing? (see stoppp.com) Does it inspire people to love as Jesus' loves with charity and sacrifice as Mr. Adams portrays here or which inspires behavior contrary to dear God's plan for us and our neighbor.

Pope John Paul ll
did all that He could possibly do to enlighten this world of its choice of grief.

Everyone wished to get close enough to listen, but not many L I S T E N E D .

Do you see?

The delivery is different with each preacher.

But the message is the same.

The way out of national debt, sexual scandals, poor international relations, oil dependancy, confussion about what our individual purpose here, on earth, is...we learn from our connecting with our higher power.

Do not comdemn the deliverer, because you do not understan, yourself. The message is the same. The delivery changes to meet its congregation, because...listen up, here;

we are not one design, but we are all the same.

we are not one design, but we are all the same.

we chose the church we attend because we will better connect with our higher power when we comprehend the message.

we comprehend the message in our own individual way.

we comprehend the message in our own individual way.

the fruits which, therefore come, as a result of comprehending God's message, are the only reasonable means we hold for judging at all.

The fruits which, therefore come, as a result of comprehending the message, are the only reasonable means we hold for judging... AT ALL.

growth of Christiamity
"atheism is on the decline in the world today. And they can also take some consolation in the fact that Christianity is the world’s fastest growing religion."

Mike is this true? can you cite sources? it would be wonderful, but it is contrary to what I've read.

thanks for an inspiring article

JohnH

Mike Adams' column on the Audacity 127
Amen!!!! Thanks for the great article about stewardship and God's blessings. Anyone who would be critical of your donation of book profits to an indigenous group like Pastor Jackson's is clearly not reading the Sciptures clearly or correctly. As a former missionary to Venezuela, I have seen many, many times over how the Lord's work transforms lives, and even a small investment in local ministries has everlasting AND temporal returns. Looking at Africa, the AIDS/hospital/orphanage/food distribution work of Christian groups is tremendously pertinent and successful, especially when compared to the work accomplished by the enormously expensive work of organizations like the UN. It is because there is a sacrificial personal involvement like that of Mike Adams involved. A friend just returned from a Samaritan's Purse donation trip to Birkino Faso...with tremendous stories of generosity and good will for the Lord. My daughter helped in an orphanage in Swaziland last year and was a first hand witness to the generous outpouring of God's love by sacrificial fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ!!! Thanks for your word and thanks for your magnanimous gesture of donating the proceeds of your book. God bless you!!!!

funny
It’s funny that the first two commenters remarked on how the “trolls” would find fault with how or where Mike gives. Well, it seems that the first blow is struck by a conservative Christian, a pilgrim no less. This is my most common point. The liberal agitators are just the flip side of the same coin that used for currency around here.

Hey Mike,
I'm glad you got over that Ann Coulter-bashing thing, but you've still got to throw more chum in the water.

Otherwise, how will we get Luis and Will to emerge from their respective caves (closets?) and have one of their hilarious little hissy fits?

You know this is blood sport, Mike--poor man's pay-per-view. But there's nothing to "watch" lately!

You've got to give us something, maybe a column about a lesbian colleague whose gay brother's former lover ran a foundation that taught six-year-olds to put condoms on bananas, before he left it all behind to run off with a bi-sexual, transgendered performance artist named Rodolfo, (and his three-legged dog).

That would REALLY get the trolls worked up!

Come on, Mike, we're counting on you! This is Jerry Springer for people with too much time on their hands! Don't let us down!!!

Love and Rockets,

Norman Hieronymous Loquendi

SSGT
OMG!!!!

That was funny!!!

On the subject of foreing charity, I must agree with you and Dr. Adams. It is HIS profits, and HIS decision, after all.

YLG
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
wuf wuf!
Morning to ya! Thats how my pup looked a long time ago! HA

Going global
Thanks for a great column. Americans have a tendancy to think we are all that mattersin this world. You've said it well.

SSGT
Rest assured Hubby will be getting your posts this AM.

As for your pup, I'm sure Anne entertaining him with the many sounds will provide you with endless entertainment!

Congratulations Mike
For applauding yourself AGAIN. Gal. 6:26. Christians are to lift up Jesus, not self. But thank you for telling us about a couple of obedient servants of God.

The good news re the Good News, not all coming from America?!? Where have you been the last 40 years? Please, please, please look into Silencingchristians.com and learn what is happening in the USA.

Shalom

I read about a very large church in
California that recently camppaigned to it's congregation to raise several million dollars for building new building and campus etc... I don't remember the exact figure but it was over 10 million dollars for their new facility, so this church has a very large congregation.

After several months in prayer, the head pastor felt uncomfortable with this vision. Finally, he instead presented a different vision to the congregation. They would plant a field of grass on the new property, and hold church outside on the grass. The vision was accepted. Now they hold service outside with no building. All the money they raised was then given to many different local charities for helping those in the community that are in need.

YLG
You got that right! The elephant makes him spin in circles!

aPilgrim...
My point was that, when the Gates' announced where they were sending their money, people castigated them for donating "to a foreign organization instead of one here in the United States".

From what I've seen, Donald Trump and Ted Turner use their money to make more money for themselves and nobody has a problem with that ("Hey, it's their money, if they want to buy a bigger boat or build a bigger hotel, who cares?"), yet critics seem to come out of the woodwork when somone gives to charity ("That *@#$$#! He shouldn't have given his money away to THAT organization, he should have given it to MY favorite 501(c)3!").

You don't like Planned Parenthood, fine. I'm not crazy about it, either, but it IS legal and the Gates' apparently have no moral problem with it. Since they obviously believe they are doing a right/good thing, it's between them and God. Before we tell them where they SHOULD spend their money, maybe we should ask them why they chose to donate where they did.

Where's Will?
Hmmm.

Mike Adams tells us,
"I believe that stories like this show that God has a plan for every person and for every church. And God rewards those that respond bodily and decisively to His plans."

God HAS A PLAN for EVERY person.

God REWARDS.

-------------------------------------------------

It's clear some of you envision an overseeing "Father" up in the sky, forever taking notes, listening to prayers, calculating, calibrating, like Santa, "deciding who's naughty & nice".

I wonder if God had a personal "plan" for all 6 million Jews who were gassed in the Holocaust.
Or all 600,000 homosexuals.

I supposed "God's Plan", for all half million+ gassed homosexuals, were you to ask Mike, would be to send them to an eternal "Hell".

-------------------------------------------------

Christianity is truly bizarre.
12 miners are trapped in a coal mine. All families come outside to pray & hold vigil. The news media arrives. MSNBC, CNN. There's Greta Van Sustren from Fox News interviewing the relatives!

6 days later, all miners are found dead (asphyxiated) except one. The mother of that "one" yells & cries & tells the interviewer that it was "God" who HEARD HER PRAYERS. God personally gleaned her anguish, kept her son alive while simultaneaously killing off the other 11.

Mike tells us "God has a plan for every person".

Magic incantations (prayers), Holy Ghosts, Eternal Bliss, merciful "Raptures".

The human race deserves to die out. It is impossible that evolution favors this degree of superstition.

essie/aPilgrim
I think people who are rich and have wads to blow get castrated no matter what they do with their money. Even so....charities are not all equal. A doner wants the funds to go to the needy, not a corporate head making six figures a year. Some of these organizations that collect charity only spend about 20 cents on the dollar collected on those in need. Not a very efficient way of spending other people's money that is intended to help others.

America Is Rich & Pagan
The ground for sowing is far more fertile in other countries. We see much of the "black American" church is hateful and apostate. White liberal churches aren't even Chritian in their world view. They are humanist. America is being brought down from within and the ones who are doing it like it that way.

"Do not throw your pearls before swine lest they trample them and you".

Will
"The human race deserves to die out"?

Are you volunteering to be the first to go?

Let me be the first to congratulate you for bringing homosexuality into this thread. I think someone had a pool going, but I could be wrong.

And I for one do not think homosexuals are going to hell. Never have, never will. Putting this here before you accuse me of such a barbarity.

told ya
i knew Will would find a way to make the thread all about god and gays
what a worthless poofter

Hate mail to Mike?
Good grief. People never cease to amaze.

Will obviously is hurting and has little if any peace in his life. He needs prayer and not condemnation for his views. I for one will say a prayer for you right now.

fredo1
You were right. It was inevitable that Will would make his comments. Now, how do you feel about RA’s? He seemed to make the thread about how blacks and liberals are bringing down the country.

US-centric Worldview
I don't understand the US-centric worldview. I don't like the inherent us vs them mentality that arises from it. If a rising tide lifts all boats as Reagan told us, then helping Africa or anywhere else in the world helps us as well. Anyone who views this as winners and losers in stuck in zero-sum thinking.

For Mike, this is a moral decision. I respect his point of view even if I don't share it. It doesn't matter what motivates someone to do the right thing. All that matters is the right thing is done.

Mike has shown us the blueprint for how make real change in the world. It isn't government to government. It is person to person. That's how things change. That's how things improve.

Evolution

Will writes:

"The human race deserves to die out. It is impossible that evolution favors this degree of superstition."

...and I suppose evolution favors those who don't reproduce...if you are born a homosexual shouldn't homosexuality be dwindling or is it a genetic mishap when we breeders copulate? If it is genetic is it something similar to mental retardation and, if so, should you then have special status?

I guess homosexuality will either be instict due to evolution, we will have to add a new ADA class, or the race will "evolve" to nothing but homosexuals and die out.

Ted
Drink some green tea.

Clear your mind.

Stop the muddled logic.

Homosexuality has been with us forever, throughout history. I don't know what the evolutionary imperative of homosexuality is. But it's everywhere, to a small degree: observable in over 1500 animal species; observable in every human species on every continent; in Japan, Saudi Arabia, all provinces of Canada, El Salvador, China, Iceland, in every one of the 50 U.S. states.....

Face it. Homosexuality may not be the "norm", but is perfectly natural. To believe otherwise, goes against history & your own eyes & ears.

YLG-Ssgt
YLG, let's send Heterophobe Will to Africa.

Ssgt, LOL!

Will
gay folks are not in themselves destined to hell. But the gay folks that are non-believers are! You have made your stand, so live with the outcome!

Georgetwin
whats the good word, brother!
Why are you laughing at me. My pup does it too! haha

Great Article
Great article! And I agree with the idea that we should pray for Will. He seems to be so very, very unhappy. When you only think of yourself and your needs and spend much of your time and energy denigrating other people's beliefs', how can you feel good about yourself?

Give Good Gifts
Essie .."S. Africa has the highest population of HIV infected people in the world.." as N. @7:30am states. True. Why should I not notify you and others on this thread? A warning is in order. You say "Bill Gates and his wife set up a charity to help people in Africa" Even if this does good things they have definitely also helped destroy the people there. The frenzied activities of Planned Parenthood, which they support unabashedly, as well as Mary Stopes Clinics in Africa furthers the greatest plague Africa has ever known...and it goes on and on because those organizations are powerful and in a deadly business. You err in honoring this couple. They know where there money goes. I care where there money goes, they have a lot of it, a lot of responsibility to use it for good. I'm not telling them where to send their money, just where they have. "PP IS legal" you say.You should know being lawful does not mean being decent or protective of the public. What they do should NOT be legal. It is the sickest organization in the whole world and should be transformed into one that gives it's clients the courage and knowledge to denounce murder in the womb...to denounce premarital sex which provides ever more pregnant girls to their doors. Doctor Adams is about doing God's will, donating to something good that really helps people know, love, and serve Him. God loves a cheerful giver...the widow who gave her last coin.
Giving money out of love means sacrifice for the good of the receiver, not it's, her, his destruction.

Will
"The human race deserves to die out" - Will

The term "deserves" implies a moral law. Evolution can only deal in terms of survival or extinction. The fact that we have not died out implies that, form an evolutionary position, we do NOT deserve to die out. Is there some deeper reason you oppose "superstition"?

Furthermore, it is the evolutionist position that faith and morality are a sort of survival mechanism that must be beneficial, otherwise we would not have evolved them. If that is true, then rejecting them works against our survival.

Evolutionary ethics are incoherent blather.

Hannah
Exactly what have you done to make gay people "feel good about themselves"? Telling them to "convert" to heterosexuality, or to remain "celibate", making them feel inferior due to natural desires is not fostering a healthy self-acceptance.

Will
Remove the word "homosexuality" and replace it with "rape". Your post would be no less true, because animals do not always seek consent from their mates before having sex, and humans of every race on every continent commit rape. I am not equating homosexuality with rape, just demonstrating that your arguments do not justify the behavior.

It is like arguing "if the great Ju-ju hadn't meant for us to eat people, he wouldn't have made them out of meat".

clever
The human species has existed (in its current form) for only a few hundred thousand years. Compare that to 5 billoion years of evolutionary life & mutation.

Just because the human species has not died off in our short historical span does not suggest we've mastered evolutionay imperative & are invincible.

Mike - here's my 2 cents
1) It's your money, you earned it, do what you please with it.
2) Will - you're gonna hate this, but I'll pray for you.

will
Other things around for thousands of years and found crossing all social and economic lines: rape, murder, theft, buggery, child molestation, crooked politicians, slavery and lying. All natural. So, then, what is your point? Just because it has been around a long time, we must accept, even celebrate, it? Leave it to you to bring homosexuality into a discussion that had nothing to do about it. We get it. You don't believe in God. A petulant response at best. If God sanctioned homosexual behavior, perhaps you would not feel the same way. But, as with much of our society, if God doesn't fit with what WE think, it is better to discard belief and live as WE see fit. I, too will pray for you and others like you.

double post
Sorry. @#$^$#%$#%$# townhall server!

Will
so in another couple hundred years or so, human life will have evolved into what? Yoda?

Dr. Adams
I agree with those above. It is your money to do with as you please. Anyone that cursed you for donating overseas has probably never left the country. The poor in other countries are actually underfed, unclothed and lack basic sanitary living conditions. I applaud your charity and do not believe that you are announcing details for self-aggrandizement. I think that you are trying to get people to buy more books so more cash goes to the charity. Strong work, keep it up.

SSGT
Yoda will take several hundred thousand years, at least.
In a couple hundred years, we may evolve into Jaba the Hut.
Some will take a different path, and end up as Darth Maul.

Choose your path wisely...

Will
What is your take on the article and the issue of giving to charity (overseas vs domestic)?

Redhead
Haven't we already hit the Jaba the Hut stage of evolution. I mean we all enjoy sitting around, having people wait on us hand and foot, we love to eat junkfood and are waiting to be constantly entertained. Those that fail to entertain get fed to the Rancor Monster (or we just switch the channel...I blame the guy who invented the remote control for our short attention spans)

Redhead
I will master!

Christians complained, or Leftists?
Were the people who sent Dr. Adams negative responses about his choice of charity really Christians, or were they just those Leftists who observe TownHall and post their nonsense, to stir up trouble?

I can't conceive of someone who is a true follower of Christ reading the article and thinking anything but, "Good for you Doc, and if I can donate something, I will, too."

Hillary delenda est.

Hope Again
Dr. Adams. As I longtime fan, I was as moved as I have ever been by your article today. You answered my prayers as well.

Thank you for speaking up and pointing to our universal obligations as Christians and your well pointed argument that these fast growing areas of Christianity most need our support.

Will
If the human race deserves to die out, as you stated in an earlier post, then YOU as a member of the human race deserve to die, also. Therefore, if we see any future posts from you from this moment forward, please explain to us why you haven't done what your own ethos says you should do and offed yourself. Or do you intend to go like one of these Islamic homicide bombers: take many people with you in your act of departing this world? You perfectly epitomize what liberalism has become: a do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do mentality, whose adherents are perfectly willing to inconvenience everyone else for the sake of their ideology but who don't want to be apostles for their causes themselves. About the only major leftie I can think of in the last 20 years who actually imposed his stated worldview on the way he personally lived was Theodore Kacszynski - and the left derided him as a nut. He may have been a murderer, but at least he wasn't a hypocrite to what he professed to believe.

It is your money
It is your money, Dr. Adams. You can do with it whatever you so wish. However, I still think that you should look a little closer to home.

Perhaps you could fund a gay church in his area ......... then, you would find out what hate actually looks like.

Will
"The human race deserves to die out. It is impossible that evolution favors this degree of superstition."

Are you starting the line? Or like liberals everywhere, do you mean "except for me"?

Standhisground
It's ironic that liberals like Will always want the human race to go extinct, yet they are exactly the same ways who hold candlelight vigils at executions.

Will
Western bondbeam has a point.

What do you say about this article, specifically?

By the way, I think I won the pool. I knew you were going to write about the gay issue even before Dr. Adams posted the article.

The next pool
Since I won the pool about Will, I propose the next pool question:

How long before MellorSJ2 talks about xians and the great elf?

Husker2
Come on; that's like betting on a rerun of an old Super Bowl:)

AZPhil
Good point! Since the political left is so often indifferent to human suffering or even death (it was Stalin who said, "One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic"), it is indeed ironic that they're the ones who defend the continued existence of the worst representatives of mankind.

Standhisground
Yeah, they defend lives like those of Tookie Williams, Ted Bundy, and Charles Manson, but the rest of the human race "deserves to die". Interesting outlook.

Husker
I hope you monitor Monsieur Adams on the "gay issue" as closely as you monitor me.

The reason I brought it up / bring it up (homosexuality) repeatedly is Adams' monotonous insistence on lugging in militant gays & hostile, overbearing feminists as grist for almost every column's mill.

I'll make you a deal though: if Adams doesn't bring his (overused) gay & feminist cultural gangbangers into his columns, I won't comment on them.

And I will only comment on religion if christianity is brought into the topic (as it is here, with Mike injecting Christianity, "Good News" & the blood of Jesus into the column)

AZPhil
Since Will and MellorSJ2 (among others) have both expressed a contempt for religion, I've challenged both of them in the recent past to explain to me why they and Western atheists who believe like them haven't made a noticeable exodus in the last 90 years to places like North Korea and China and Cuba and the Soviet Union - countries whose governments have not let their governance be influenced by religious teachings. Yes, Western atheists who moved there would have had to learn a new language, but as I said, it would have been a small price to pay for living in "paradise". I've also challenged them to explain why in the absence of religious influence, the countries ruled over by atheistic communism were not showplaces of human progress and enlightenment but the worst hellholes imaginable. To absolutely no surprise of mine, neither one of them has answered my challenge. Of course, I knew they couldn't; the record of atheistic communism is an embarassment to Western atheists and something that they can't defend, so they simply ignore it. MellorSJ2 admits he's presently living in Europe, but if he was going to choose somewhere other than the U.S. to live, why not a country ruled over by communism, so that he could be pretty much free of the exposure to religion he so detests. Once again, their ethos is "do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do". They bear out something that Thomas Sowell declared a few years ago: a liberal is merely a totalitarian with a human face.

Hey Will
I'll repeat the question. What do you think about charity and the giving domestic vs overseas?

Will, you hyprocrite
Since I see a post by you in the last couple of minutes, unless there's another poster to TownHall that was okayed to use your same screen name, then obviously you haven't done yourself in yet. Since you yourself said that the human race deserves to die out, then why haven't you done the duty that your own declared belief demands of you and committed suicide? How do you square your obvious continued existence with that sentiment about the human race that you yourself proclaimed to the world - unless you're proud to declare that you're an unashamed hypocrite?

Husker2
I am sure Mellor will start peeking out from behind his relevance sometime soon.

Hate The Sin - Not The Sinner
Homosexuality is NOT GAY! My little daughter is gay (sometimes.)

Homosexuals are people, and as such, deserve our love (albeit from afar.)

Quee* POLITICS is another matter, and gets my eternal derision and resistance.

Will
You wrote: "I'll make you a deal though: if Adams doesn't bring his (overused) gay & feminist cultural gangbangers into his columns, I won't comment on them."

Please don't do this. Through your comments, you bring so much more pleasure to us than you will ever know.

Keep up the good work!

Wow
Unbelievable.

It's amazing how someone like Will can find a column that does nothing but talk about charity, and find a way to turn the discussion into a paranoid rant about homosexuality and the "vast, evil, fundamentalist christian conspiracy" against gays.

Truly amazing.

Gotta hand it to you, Will.

I don't think anyone will be able to top you in making such a totally irrelevant, inane, and asinine argument.

Curtal Friar
Are you sure you're ready to say that no one could top Will in making such an inane and asinine argument? After all, Sophie, Immortal hasn't weighed in on this thread yet.

Standhisground
Your point is well taken. I'm busy with Robbie elsewhere, so he may stay away from this area.

husker, person standing his ground,

Sorry. Do not mean to dis anyone here by not responding.

I'm at work putting together 2 proposals (I guess God does not "provide" for working atheists such as myself & so we disbelievers have to pull our own weight without the boon of heavenly assistance). Not being not evasive. Mea culpa.

ThunderThudd:

Homosexuality IS gay. Or "gay" as Adams & Matt Barber like to say.

If your little daughter is gay (as you claim), I hope you love her unconditionally & don't heap a load of unhealthy cultural & religious baggage regarding her orientation.

Be like Dick Cheney. Let your daughter be who she is. Mary Cheney & partner Heather have a healthy, happy baby son & are living a fulfilling live (as opposed to lifestyle). All gay relationships should be this happy.

Good luck with your daughter.

God Bless your Efforts
I pray that Pastor Jacksons efforts are fruitful.

Liberals live in a self centered universe of one.
Liberals are trapped in limbo neither children nor adults. Inane comments and boorish behavior should be expected from liberals because adult conversation is an enigma to them.

Liberals contribute to society by declaring deviate behaviour normal. Liberals think everyone has a hidden agenda when donating to the struggle of humanity - the only thing they can contribute is ridicule and crtiticism.

Liberals attract negative attention toward themselves because they cannot attract positive attention.

Husker, Curtail
gentlemen, with all due respect(see the 1st and 2nd post on thread)
i was the one to point out that Will would find a way to make it a "gay" thing first
so i guess i win todays pool :)
not that hard to win though with him

Evangelize
in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the ends of the Earth.

We are called to give to the local community, surrounding areas, and throughout the world. I have great pity and sorrow that people would respond with hatred to your giving to the Pastor's project. Perhaps those people should look to the Gospel and evaluate their own committment to the Messiah.

nellie
the audacity of truth- he just got up and admitted he lied to the american people on friday when he said in an interveiw that he had NEVER heard anything like that from his pastor and yet TODAY he ADMITS that he has heard this many times before from HIS PASTOR- yet he will not disavowe him- get real babe/babette/ waht ever you/it are

Gay
Mirriam Webster
Gay:
3: given to social pleasures; also : licentious

Licentious:
1: lacking legal or moral restraints; especially : disregarding sexual restraints

2: marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness

Gay, it seems, may be one of the most appropriate words to use after all. Funny thing those dictionaries, helping understand words and all. I found one online. Can you use the net? Do you have access?

notice how will is hiding
surprise, surprise,- WILL is nowhere to be found now- typical poofter

Come on posters,
Don't let Will turn every topic into a homosexual rant. Ignore the troll!

Anti-gay themes
Anti-gay themes permeate most of Adams's articles. Now he wants to cleanse his hands and soul by saying that he will donate all the profits of his latest book to a Christian charity in Africa. I hope that he finds some peace in his life.

Will
Coming late to the thread, but had to comment on your comment that "The human race deserves to die out."

You are not alone in this view:
http://www.vhemt.org/

I have never been able to figure out if this "Voluntary Human Extinction Movement" thingee is for real or is a goof. Either way, it's absurd, as the website itself illustrates.

The ultimate form of self-loathing is misanthropy.

I wish you happier days, Will. Truly.

This is what real charity looks like
It never comes FROM gov't or is accomplished by giving TO gov't - domestic of foreign.

Mike is a man of evolving character who shares his earnings and his passions for the betterment of the nation and the world. Anyone who has the privilege of taking his instruction will be the better and wiser for having had the experience.

Grubby
If Adams weren't nearly breaking his arm by patting himself on the back so hard, I would agree with you. (As it is I still agree with you for the most part.)

Combine his (very public) self-congratulation on this matter, with his bizarre Coulter-bashing not too long ago, and I see a basically decent man with some rather serious pride issues.

I write this as a fan. As a recently retired, conservative academic, Mike's columns generally resonate with me very strongly. His repertoire is somewhat limited, but he's good at singing the songs he knows.

I think that your description of him "a man of evolving character" is quite apt. I admire his willingness to give, but his insistence on publicizing his generosity is more characteristic of liberals like Ted Turner than the cautionary note from Matthew 6:2.

"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full."

It hope that Mike will continue his admirable generosity, but also hope that he will stop telling everyone about it. A man who gives and tells no one is more likely to be doing it for God than for men. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.

Dave
Hey Dave, you're in Emmaus? What church? Well, you don't have to give the name but an intern from our church is taking a church in Emmaus. PCA.

I wonder what it's like
It must be real nice to have a job for life.

You can be loonier than a loon and still get paid. Must be real nice.

nt250
It's only nice if you ARE a loon. Then you can fit in with all of the other America-hating, anti-male Christophobes.

Been there, done that.

Being a tenured conservative on most campuses is essentially a lifelong sentence to a low security prison where the warders have Ph.D.'s and use big, poofy words that don't mean anything.

I had tenure at pretty decent college in the Southeast. After a while, I just couldn't stand it any more, and resigned.

I admire Adams for sticking with it.

Norman
There's something to what you say. But consider that people aren't doing much of anything now days without soliciting an audience (I'm going to shoot up the school but be sure to watch the YouTube) of some sort.

I suppose one way to perhaps increase sales is to proclaim the proceeds go to charity. And then maybe he wants to gain the publicity to run for some office in North Carolina (considering what NC used to elect and what it gets now, Mike would certainly be an improvement).

Whatever the case, he actually does stuff while others sit and cringe. BTW, they (liberals) really are bastards when they get a strangle hold on any institution - competence and qualification then become only marginal considerations to advancement, as you know from your college experience.

Well said, Grubby
Far be it from me to judge Mike's motives. The effects certainly are good. I've been a fan of Mike's for a while (despite his unwarranted and to my mind bizarre bashing of St. Ann of Coultershire), and don't see that changing.

You're dead on about how liberals maim the institutions they take over. It was a real political education for me to go from a relatively naive, bright-eyed, bushy tailed Instructor, then on to Assistant Professor, and finally to tenure. By the time I got it, I didn't want it any more, because of the pervasive anti-American, left-wing bent.

Parents, be VERY careful where you send your kids to college. Most of the professors think their students are the victims of nearly two decades of brain-washing by their stupid parents, and take it as their mission to disabuse their young charges of everything they learned at home.

That's why!
apilgrim: "Essie, Bill Gates and his wife have not given good gifts to Africa in that they donate a great deal of money to planned parenthood (barrenhood) Africa has billboards which inspire use of condoms, thanks to the Gates. These encourage sexual promiscuity, a cheapening of respectful relations and family ties."

The use of condoms helps to prevent transmission of the HIV/AIDS virus, which is a major epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. To spend money on preaching about chastity would be ridiculous and irresponsible.

Lame
That's what this article is. How does this deal with any of the current political issues or recent news events?

Oh well, at least we got Adams to write something that does not rant forever about the evils of those independent, uppity broads, the feminists. (Sorry, Will, I just don't see that many about The Gays, but I am sure they have been there).

Inspiring
The best article yet I've read by Mr. Adams. A truly inspiring piece.

Norman

--------------
Thanks for the tip here. I have only about 7 years left to complete the brain-washing of my oldest and a few more on my younger ones. And here I have been focusing on teaching them respecting authority and age lately. That's not good...as I hate to feed them to the wolves. I need to start inserting exception clauses to the respect thing with college professors being at the top of the list.

Caliqula
It's a slow news week. Obamaracist and Twofaced Spitzer saturating all the articles. Things get old quickly.

Glad You Wrote Something Different
For a change, but you're not being honest with your readers and the supposed hate mail.

Most people groaned when you stated you planned to give the proceeds of your book to Africa, not because it's Africa---but because you were upset at Ann Coulter for being mean in order to sell her books.

The fact is, you're mean when you want to be, which is pretty constant, and seeing you make a high horse stand to be a bigger person than the one you're jealous of, is merely laughable.

So, give away your money, I'm glad when people buy your "I Hate Women and Why" books, that it will go to a worthy cause.

Drink some green tea...

_______________________________________________

Will/will, the boy, or girl, or it, is really trying hard, but the sterility and frustration of homosexuality says it all about the legitimacy of homosexuality. The frustration of what they call sex, but isn't, rather it is a perversion, not producing babies is driving homosexuals nuttier than usual.

A 'male' homosexual sticking his pen!s in the anus of another 'male' homosexual is not natural, or getting a pen!s stuck in the rear end of a homosexual 'male' is not natural either. The female equivalent is equally twisted, sick, perverse, filthy, aberrant, deviant.

And because homosexuality has been around forever, not 'with us,' if you don't mind, or even if you do, doesn't make it right, doesn't make it natural. The fact that some animals are screwed up like human homosexuals doesn't justify taking up homosexuality--THEY ARE ANIMALS!!! SOME ANIMALS EAT THEIR YOUNG, SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO EAT YOUR YOUNG--NO, NO, WAIT A MINUTE: YOU CAN'T HAVE BABIES, SO YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR YOUNG.

Nothing favors homosexuality, nothing recommends homosexuality. The homosexual icons are dropping like flies from AIDS, 'colon problems,' and the like. The homosexual sterility says it all about homosexuals.

Luis
I’m so glad you are back. When you disappear I always worry. I know how you get to thinking about “A 'male' homosexual sticking his pen!s in the anus of another 'male' homosexual is not natural, or getting a pen!s stuck in the rear end of a homosexual 'male'. Then I have to scan the news for a murder/suicide involving a gay, male prostitute and his john.

So what’s the story now, you fake, you sham, you liar? When are you ever going to produce a single shred of support for any of your outrageous claims? When is a single person on this conservative web site ever going to offer you the least amount of support?

Come on you coward. Why don’t you stand up to me and prove me wrong?

Fredo1
You called it. The subject has been transmogrified into homosexuality. ZZZzzzzzz.

Is Luis on the Down Low?
"SOME ANIMALS EAT THEIR YOUNG, SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO EAT YOUR YOUNG--NO, NO, WAIT A MINUTE: YOU CAN'T HAVE BABIES, SO YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR YOUNG."

So, now you are comparing gays to cannibals?!

By the by, why do you only respond to postings about gays? You seem to be obsessed with the subject to a very disturbing degree, which leads me to suspect one thing...

Adams and "hate mail."
Adams: "When I mentioned in a recent column that I was signing over 100% of any future royalties from my latest book to Pastor Jackson’s Hope 127 Project I received an unexpected torrent of hate mail. Many of those emails asked how I could possibly donate proceeds to a foreign charity instead of one here in the United States."

This sounds like that mail was coming from incredibly stupid people. Why bother mentioning it? A dollar goes FAR further in the third world than it does here, so for charitable giving, there is greater "bang for buck" in giving abroad.

That said. I see NO reason why Adams has to REPEAT his OWN "virtuosity". Perhaps being unfamiliar with the injunction to not let the "left hand know what the right hand does"? Painful. Give. And give EVERYthing. And stop boring us to death about it.

Sell your gun collection and give away the proceeds of THAT. Because unless your giving is HURTING you, AND done in SECRET, it is merely a feel-good exercise. You "already have your reward" in the pats on the back you have gotton from publicising it here.

Port City Community Church
Thanks for sharing about Port City Community Church. We've had our eye on the wrong kind of church for a couple of weeks now & it's getting a little depressing ... like we were getting drug back about 20 years.
A wonderful story and encouraging to see public people willing to put first things first.

Most ridiculous line here.... Heh.
"To spend money on preaching about chastity would be ridiculous and irresponsible."

That's even allowing for that demented being Luis's rants!!
