Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Dear Provost Frank (provost@kent.edu):

Over the course of the last several months, Kent State University has been trying to handle a firestorm of negative publicity resulting from its continued employment of pro-terrorist professor Julio Pino. In defense of Pino, your university has asserted that his violent rhetoric is not only protected by the First Amendment but also irrelevant to his employment because he expresses those views on his own time. But, recently, I’ve found that simply isn’t the case.

Yesterday, I took the time to log on to www.RateMyProfessors.com to see whether there was any evidence suggesting Pino was spreading anti-Semitic and anti-American rhetoric in the classroom. I also wondered whether he was one of those History professors more into teaching about his present political views than teaching about the past.

Here’s what I found:

“This guy is an idiot! Completely illogical...does not tolerate any views other than his own...hates Christians and intolerant of Christian values...”

Since the above comment was written on the day one of my columns about Pino was released, it should, in all fairness, be ignored. But consider the following comment, which was written before I exposed Pino in the national media:

“Definately a jihad boy in training. I think he's more the suicide bomber type though. If you think we are kidding, take this wackjob for class.”

And there were other students concerned that Pino had violent tendencies as well. The following comment was also written before I exposed Pino:

“I swear this guy is going to turn out to be the leader of a major terrorist group, he clearly hates America and capitalism.”

The following student gave Pino the lowest possible rating and also said this about what professors should be doing in the classroom:

“Challenge your values, not attempt to brainwash you as Pino does.”

And, finally, right after one commenter dubbed Pino the “worst teacher ever,” another had this to say about his classroom advocacy for the killing of innocent Jews:

“This guy hates America. He used to be an avowed Communist, but now embraces Radical Islam. Considers suicide bombers in Palestine to be heroes. He'll run to anything anti-American like a brainless sheep. He's a fraud; if he hates it here, then (he should) get out.”

It is little surprise that a man named Mike Brown wrote the following note to me in defense of Julio Pino:

“Jews have been killing and stealing land from arabs for 40 years. In my opinion jews are the lowest form of life. I would compare a jew to a rat ,they are the same thing . Your torah i wipe my ass with the pages. You jews are the real terrorist in the world. You’re dirty pigs, that is why a jew can’t eat pork. In my opinion the best thing to happen to jews was Hitler and the holocaust but too bad he never finished the job. You scum bags were corralled like pigs into gas chambers and killed by a man who knew what a jew is - a rat, the scum of the earth and not fit to live among other people…One day soon the jews will get what they deserve a second holocaust . You stupid fuck send this to the fbi you son of a whore. Jew women are whores by nature.”

While I am not Jewish, I am concerned that Pino’s only defenders are his fellow anti-Semites. And you should be, too, Provost Frank. I also worry that some people may have learned to hate Jews while taking courses at your little university in Kent, Ohio.

My continued study of your anti-Semitic faculty member has given me an idea for a little experiment. Tomorrow, I am going to forego my review for test one in my “Introduction to Criminal Justice” class. Instead, I am going to give a lecture advocating the mass murder of homosexuals. Then, in my late afternoon class I’m going to give a lecture advocating the mass murder of blacks.

I predict that within 24 hours after giving these two lectures, I’ll be dismissed from my position at UNC-Wilmington. And, of course, the administration will breathe a collective sigh of relief that I finally stepped over the line by refusing to teach the subject matter of my classes - instead opting to promote violence against minorities.

On my first full day off I will write back to you and ask for your commentary on my dismissal. I expect that you will lend your full support to the administrative action of terminating my employment. But, then, I’ll leave you with a serious question to ponder: How can academia adopt a zero tolerance position on racism and homophobia while simultaneously tolerating anti-Semitism?

It is also worth asking whether history gives us any clue as to what happens when a nation turns a blind eye towards anti-Semitism. But such questions can only be answered by the historian who dedicates himself to teaching about history. They cannot be objectively addressed by advocates of mass murder.

Julio Pino is simply not doing the job the taxpayers of Ohio are paying him to do. With all due respect, Mr. Provost, neither are you.

Hey Doc
Mind if I sit in on those two classes tomorrow?

hmm
well i check the rate my professor page and we the one that dr adams was talking about but there seem to be about an equal number saying he was a good teacher and didnt do any of the things dr adams claims. oh and the anti sematic post was taken down for review.

chr3354 12:15am
There were more entries that he was not a good professor than entries he was a good professor (58% vs. 42%, approximately).

Oh my God!!
Did I read the F bomb in that article?

You sure did. In the student's rant.
Think Dr A could have cut a lot of that out without losing, um, the flavor of it. Hope he writes the student back and say, "Guess who else won't eat pig?" (What is it with pigs in the middle east area???) But he probably does not want any more correspondence from this person.

Had to go back and reread the article. I got sidetracked at ratemyprofessor.com.

The perversity of the University
What a shocker -- an American hating, terrorist wannabe zealot at Kent State of all places.

Nobody can accuse KSU of not changing with the times. Heck, back in '60s communism was the ideology of faculty choice and burning ROTC buildings was the sanctioned sport of campus terrorists.

Now Islamofascism is all the mode. You know, diversity and free speech apply especially to those who would destroy this nation. Right, Ward Churchill?

One thing about KSU though. It has a "lovely" campus. High rise schlock architecture circa East Berlin 1964.

For all you doubting "progressives"
Mike wrote a column in June which documents Pino's terrorist sympathies.

It just amazes me how so many "progressives" think Bush had a hand in bringing down the Trade Center, but when it comes to believing there's a ranting terroist mouthpiece in a college classroom, well that's just way tooooo out there to be credible.

I've said my piece, you can go back to guzzling your Koolade now.

THE ANTI-SEMITISM OF PROFESSOR PINO
For many years now, a gutless, cowardly personality seems to be the norm in college Administrators.

Anti-black prejudice by teachers of all ranks is simply not tolerated in Universities & Colleges today.

There is absolutely no reason or justification for any other group hatreds to be accepted as part of the public persona of US professors.

It must be deemed a fireable offense that supercedes tenure and all other employtment restrictions.

Taking back the Seats of Power in our Schools is long overdue.

I got in Pino's face...
... with an e-mail upon reading Adams' last column and demanded that he tell the truth regarding all this.

He never replied. How predictable...

Gutsy article
May the Lord protect you while you churn out more of this stuff.

Townhall writes;
"Taking back The Seats of Power in our Schools is long overdue"........... That will happen ONLY when the Teachers Union is COMPLETELY dismantled.

If a teacher
If a teacher does not teach what he believes, then he is just a water-boy for the ideas of somebody else. That doesn't make sense. The whole purpose of free speech is so that we can have a debate with different ideas. Hopefully the best ideas will win. Children need to witness the debate, not be indoctrinated into a particular view.

Rather than arguing that he has no right to speak, you should be debating his ideas. You are not now, nor have you ever been, a good professor based on that standard. Fortunately, what you cannot teach from your wisdom, you teach from your errors.

Of course, it is clear that if you had political power you would suppress free speech as quickly as the islamofascists, communists and liberals that you complain about. All your essays are the same. Same reliance on a straw-man, same lack of analysis. Same old errors of logic, compassion and self-awareness.

Of course, you do fit in with the rest of the sophists at the ivory tower quite well. :-) The mutually self-deluded straining on gnats.

Steve
Yes, let's have a debate on whether it is right or wrong to fly planes into towers. Jackass.

How is Pino different from Cho?
It is curious that academics clammor and beat their breasts for restrictions on 2nd amendment rights on campus, saying the exercise of them is dangerous to health and well-being of their students. Yet at the same time these very academics ignore the inflamatory hate speech spewed out by such aberrant professors as Julio Pino and Ward Churchill. The media, college administrators, and parents now demand that we look at the wrtings of Cho to find clues to his killing spree. I say look at Mr. Pino with the same circumspection.

Kent State demographics?
My bet is that there are plenty of students, mostly foreign, that fill Pino's mini-madrassa. What is this whacko's textbook, "The Protocols of Zion?"

What to Expect From Schools?
Part of the state school system and/or receiving money from the Feds has gotten us to this point.

Thank God....
That men like Mike Adams still have the guts to publish the truth!

Left Education Control ='s...
...despotism with a smiley face! We have all sat on our butts, for some time now, while the left liberally took our responsibilities away. Our society has been comforted, with the fact that, there is a faction looking out for our interest. We have trusted these factions, school boards, unions, ACLU, etc., etc., to be looking out for this Republics interest. When, in fact, they have turned into a despotic arm of politicians seeking to secure power, and prosperity. All you need to do is look at where the money flows. The left receives millions in campaign donations, and secured votes from these factions. We've sat back, and watch millions, billions, of our tax dollars go to these factions. They have been profiting from our silence, and profiting from the masses of un-educated drones. One of the poster stated it was about a 50% split on rate my professor. So 50% are in lockstep with despotism, and 50% are wary. Wary does not make it. It means that those wary people are weak and unwilling to force the argument. It's about time we got off our butts, and took back control.

Steve
"The whole purpose of free speech is so that we can have a debate with different ideas. Hopefully the best ideas will win. "

Free Speech is an ideal enshrined in our Constitution, as a protection against violation of that ideal by the state. As Dr. Adams is in no way advocating action by the state against Professor Pino as an individual, your point is moot.

"Children need to witness the debate, not be indoctrinated into a particular view."

You are speaking as though Dr. Adams is trying to stifle dissent; he is not. Dr. Adams IS the voice of dissent.

Try getting through your average PhD program in one of the humanities while expressing conservative views; you will have a great deal of trouble lasting out your first semester. Never mind the thesis process. Absolutely never mind the process of trying to get a tenure track position, much less actually ACHIEVING tenure. The only Dr. Adams can speak as he does is that he achieved tenure before "coming out of the closet" as an avowed conservative.

Professor Pino is not a brave voice of dissent; he is one more vile, America-hating bigot amongst vast faculties of Leftist, America-hating bigots. The only thing that sets him apart from his komrades is that he is a bit more obvious, less camouflaged, that those around him typically dare to be. But not all; he and Ward Churchill would, I have no doubt, get along just fine.

Steve paraphrased:
"Blah, blah, blah, I have the brain of a gnat :-)."

"The Protocols of Zion"
I did a quick search and didn't find the title word for word. I did find one, "The truth about "The protocols of Zion" but no reviews...working on it.

RE Steve
"If a teacher does not teach what he believes, then he is just a water-boy for the ideas of somebody else."

I don't pay tuition for a history class in order to get someone's moonbat beliefs. History is largely objective, and part of the problem all levels of education have is subjectifying history. (I'm not saying ALL aspects of teaching history are objective, so don't try to say that's what I'm saying!) Textbooks have literally been rewritten to be more "sensitive" and "diverse" and it's sick! Since when does a high-school American history class begin in 1877 (like my brother's did?) That is just one example of how people are "teaching" their beliefs instead of what history tells us.

Gone?
You want to see Pino gone? Simple let parents decide to stop paying tuition to a college that spews this type of anti-American rhetoric and see how fast they boot him. Even at the colleges it's all about the almighty buck. Watch their freshman registration rate drop by 25% and I guarantee pino will take a trip off campus. And to all of you who say we would be abridging his rights. BS! We are simply exhorsising ours!

well steve
I do not see him letting a Jew into the class to debate him, and mike should the need ever arise there are some vets here that would be all too happy to watch your back, of course I think they would also be hoping for someone to try something! Keep chewing their arse, Mike let them know we are watching!

"History takes time!"
As the comment goes "History takes time!" and those whom are the winners write their history. Sometime when I am a forgotten grave a true historian or school of historical thought will look at just how upper academia in the United States became the bastion of such a swarm of "tenured" far leftist Communist professors. How the Howard Zinn's, Ward Churchill's, and Lee Bollinger's got their jobs and kept their jobs when better scholarship was openly available. Corporate capitalist managers sitting on the Boards of major and prestigious universities offering contracts to these utter left-wing Morlock buffoons is an enigma.

To eastlake joe
Parents, their money, and their influence on the governing board of a school would be the route you would choose to control what goes on in the classroom. That was tried recently. Erwin Chemerinsky was offered the job of Dean of UC Irvine's law school. Chemerinsky is a respected legal scholar well-qualified to be a law school dean. He is also known to be a liberal. After he had been offered the job, the offer was rescinded because of political pressure. You cannot imagine the outcry from the legal and academic communities. It was quickly a huge embarrassment to this new law school that ideology had been allowed to supersede academic considerations, and the offer to Chemerinsky was reinstated. The point here is that nobody will take seriously an academic institution that responds so to political extremists because if it does it will cease to be an academic institution.

A post to this thread (bunky, 7:08) suggests that perhaps some posters don't know the difference between a public elementary or high school classroom and a university classroom, even if it is publicly funded.

For Phil212
"The Protocols of Zion" was a fabricated (ie. like Blood Libel) discourse that alleged a worldwide Jewish conspiracy. It originated in Czarist Russia (late 1890s) as a panacea for societal ills.

The German/Austrian anti-semites treated it as Gospel. The Muslims revere it. It remains an annual best seller in Arabic to this day.

So unless you speak Arabic, you will need to find an antique book dealer in a Western nation to read its filth. It is sold in mosques in the USA.

Steve (The YO-YO)
Where shall I start? Perhaps by calling on the only reliable source of truth and wisdom. Proverbs 18:2 nails you: “A fool does not delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own mind.” I’m confident, considering your rants, that you would quickly deny the validity of using that source, and your denial was even anticipated within, as Psalms 14:1 also likely nails you: “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”

Your opening remark reveals glaring stupidity and the utter lack of logic. First you say a teacher must teach what “he believes,” then go on to say the whole purpose is to have a debate with different ideas. Did you ever hear of teaching critical thinking? That’s what teachers are supposed to do. I don’t suppose you’re aware that over 90% of “professors” are liberals. How many social studies profs would you guess have Ann Coulter (or Mike Adams!) on their reading lists – so the students can consider “different ideas?” It’s hard to believe a defender of Pinhead Pino would say, as you did, “Children need to witness the debate, not be indoctrinated into a particular view.” From all that Mike Adams has exposed about your fellow YO-YO, I don’t think Ann is on his reading list.

Your rants about Mike having your diseases, (lack of analysis; logic errors; etc.), are almost funny. It’s hard for me to imagine that pinheads like you take yourselves seriously. I think “surely this must be satire – no one can be that stupid.” But, alas…

And you cap it off with claiming that Mike fits in with the self-deluded ivory tower sophists. What a crock! Remember the “90%” figure from above? He doesn’t fit in well at all! Look up “pseudo-intellectual” in the dictionary – you’ll find your picture there.

I’d like to engage you in a battle of wits, but you are unarmed for it.

when did i say that none of the post dr adams mentioned where there other than the anti sematic one (which would have suprised me if it was still up stuff like that doesnt last long on moderated sites) and what does my lack of spelling have to do with anything i am freaking dyslexic(however you bloody spell that) and this browers has no spellcheck gosh i miss firefox

if i didnt know any better i would assume you were calling me a leftist just because i used critcal thinking skills and saw that contray to what dr adams told us there were a lot of pino supporters that didnt have to resort to anti sematism to give him a favorable rating.

ashdoll32 + prewashed history
__When my son returned from school with his 8th grade history book I browsed through it. I read within those pages pure left indoctrination. There is only two paragraphs that contain the word Republic, and nothing to define the republican principles that guide this democracy. Though the word democracy is defined in detail. There is only one page illuminating the constitutional convention, and the 2nd amendment is out of its context. It is going to be up to the parents to insure their children learn their responsibility to this nation. I'm glad that I have a small library containing the truth. I'm creating a folder containing these truths, and soon will present it to his history teacher, with questions of my own. We All Need To Do This. STAND UP AND BE HEARD.

It depends on the ox
"How can academia adopt a zero tolerance position on racism and homophobia while simultaneously tolerating anti-Semitism?"

Because academia has been politicized, and all politics depends on whose ox is being gored.

Pino against Adams
Note the difference between the two:

Mike Adams:

Julio Pino:
http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=46629

Says something about who's the better teacher.

chr3354
I was not calling you anything.
That is a perception of yours. Spell checkers can be downloaded for free. They will help you with spelling, etc.

I was simply pointing out that when you said "didn't do any of the things Dr adams claims." you were in error.

chr3354
That was satire, correct? No one can write that poorly (not content) after being admonished. If this is not satire, you need to go back to school. Your post reveals you to be nearly illiterate.

Lilly
Oh, I get your reasoning now It's O.K. to deny my and others rights to demand a proper non-biased education for our children but it's not o.k. to deny his rights to spout his anti-American spew? Sorry I was so stupid. I'm thoroughly ashamed. Yeah right!

black beard
yup over 14 pages of rateing and i only counted about 9 bad reviews for dr adams it seems most students liked his class and the females really liked him weither they liked his class or not.

and with pino we have 5 pages of ratings and 12 bad reviews thou i still cant find which one would have written that anti sematic post.

ClanIP
Well said. I think it is bad enough that Steve says a teacher should teach what he "believes." However, some of that would creep into a lesson. But this is WAY OFF THE POINT! The beliefs he is teaching have nothing to do with the subject he's supposed to be teaching. As Adams said, Pino is spewing his present political views rather than the history lesson that is supposed to be taught.

chr3354
As they say "proof is in the pudding".

I believe if you re-read Dr. Adams column you'll find it was an email sent to him, not Pino.

packrat
I was simply pointing out that when you said "didn't do any of the things Dr adams claims." you were in error

there were some commint on pino that just said he was a good teacher nothing about being a jihids or stuff like that i am just giving another side of the story i agree with adams that this man should be fired for his threating statements. i just like everyone to know the whole story so we dont nifong the guy.

grammer and spelling are my main weaknesses they so bad i shouldnt be able to read most likely due to dyslexia (however you spell that dang word) i have no skill or talent for either never have and never ever will which is why i am not an english major or any other major that involves a lot of writing.

lily;
Yes,I do know the difference. My inference was the Teachers Union is a starting point. And while I'm at it,Govt. schools need to go as well. It's no coincidence that Home Schooling is so popular.

chr3354
I believe the anti-semitic remark by Mike brown was in an email sent to Dr. Adams, not Pino.

Why are we surprised????
Why are we surprised that our government run university systems allow professors like Pino and worse? The hiring and even tenuring of such people has being going on on since the 1960s at least in the name of academic freedom.

In the mid-1960s I had a social anthropology professor that spent more time running around around the country on university dollars helping organize the anti-war movement than they did teaching class. In class you could guaranteed at least one third of the class would be preaching how great the Viet Cong were. When anyone complained by asking "what the heck has that got to do with social anthropology the professor would give us an hour on the evils of capitalism and American "democracy".

This same university employed one or more self professed Islamists from the Middle East during the 1980s and 1990s. The university management defended these professors even after one fled back to the Middle East to run a terrorist group and the other was arrested for supporting terrorism.

All this has been creeping up on us slowly but surely for at least 60 years.

black beard
ahh well that explain why i couldnt find it i just figured the rate my professor mods took it down.

Your post was pure conjecture lacking in any evidence. Teach what you believe??? NO! You teach facts. If everyone is allowed to teach what they believe what are you going to do when someone is teaching the world is flat?

You lack logic, I hope your not a teacher.

stinking commie traitor professors
after reading dr.adams the onlt thing i can add is to keep your powder dry.

Must be bad
When a Kent State professor advocates the destruction of America and death to all Jews and is STILL unable to earn the praise of more than 40% of his brainwashed students, you know he must be a horrible professor....these positions alone should have earned him at least a 90% positive rating at Kent State.

Ouch! That one is going to hurt!
I think you are honing in Dr. Adams. You are delivering thought-bombs with extreme accuracy to the Kent State Administration building.

I can visualize the process as flipping lit matchs across the country at a pool of gasoline. Eventually, one of them is going to get there.

And for those trying to find "The Protocols of Zion"

It's,

The "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

Idiot Steve:
Teachers ARE water carriers. Especially at a backwater college like Kent State whose claim to fame is the Rachel Corrie-like deaths of 4 students putting themselves in front of National Guard guns. Pino should be teaching the subject matter, not his personal philosophy or obsessions. Could it be he is WORSE than Ward Churchill?

thx fsudenny
I have to assume the book's title was actually "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" and was exposed as fraudulent in 1921. From an Amazon editor's note, "In 1921, Philip Graves of the London Times revealed The Protocols to be a fraud, showing it to be based on a French satire aimed at Napoleon III."
Cudos to Mr. Graves. Researching this stuff without google must have been a real chore!

Bman1
Do you and Tyler, mike's young republican follower, really believe he was serious when he said he was going to lecture on those 2 topics?

Bman1
Can't argue with brilliant logic like that.

oh boy
This entire series has gone on too long. The subject is getting played out. Ratemyprofessor.com is a joke site at best, but Mike made poor use of it. He obviously didn’t report all that he found. Not telling the whole story is misinformation, but using such misinformation to support your position is bad. It is a favored tactic of liberals, communists and fascists. I’m surprised the conservatives at TH would tolerate such behavior. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see if Dr. Adams gives those two lectures. That would be risky and take a great deal of courage and Mike would be placing his job on the line to prove a point that is dear to him. That I respect much much more than his “research” of student opinion.

Lilly, lilly
Lilly's statement that: "Why, then, would you have students read the work of an equal extremist on your side, if extremism has no place in education?" once again shows that she has missed the whole point of this thread. Lilly, the leftist professors who vote on who gets hired make sure that there are NO conservative professors in AKALAME-ia. Therefore, there is no opportunity for students to hear from both extremes, as if that were even desired. Hearing from both sides of an argument is a well-tested and proven way to advance knowledge. Ask Socrates.

MikeR
If you don't like ratemyprofessor.com, check out "The Professors: The 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America" by David Horowitz. You will be astonished at what our next generation is being taught (indoctrinated or brainwashed would be more accurate). These people are some of the most extreme libs in this country. Marx and Stalin look like Reagan compared to these whackos.

Rate my Leftie Professor
I am still trying to figure out who hates this country more: Terrorist Professors, or Leftie Loser Professor.

It is really wierd that they both speak from the identical list of talking points.

IceDog
During the runup to the last election, I had two classes taught by obnoxiously partisan Leftist teachers.

In my drawing class, the teacher actually played a radio station that featured anti-Bush, pro Leftist commentary between noisy tuneless songs.

The other spent time in endless Anti-American rants inbetween talking on the phone and downloading music off the internet. When the mood struck him, he taught a little.

Bman
LOL!

Bman1
Good morning to you as well. Gunny's blog is on my list to do.

Lilly
I think including readings from Ann Coulter's commentaries in required college reading lists would be a great idea to offset the steady drum-beat of left wing bomb-throwers that today's youth are indoctrinated by in their attempts to get a "liberal" education these days. Oh and don't take the word "liberal" literally as you are inclined to do.

duo
Methinks Steve and Lilly are products of institutions where critical thinking is NOT part of the curriculum.

Steve
Sorry, but what that teacher is spewing out is NOT open for debate. If he wants to talk about change, that would be one thing. But he is advocating the violent overthrow of or way of life.
What i think he is personally, is a COWARD and will never have the balls to do what he preaches.
I hope he reads this, because i would give up my half acre in heck to get him into the boxing ring!

It's really simple
Hate speech is not free speech.

Critical Thinking
Don’t like an opinion, challenge it for lack of facts.
Don’t like the facts, challenge the credentials of the source.
Don’t like the credentials of the source, challenge their bias based on personal opinion....
Common debate trick to remain firmly entrenched in ones own opinion, based on facts.... lack of critical thinking usually caused by emotional short circuiting.

Lilly
Your comment on Ann Coulter's writings, etc etc. I too would also like a copy of your citations

See you
"See you, me, and Julio down at the bombed out market place..."

Apologies to Paul Simon

we will never learn
until we are witnessing beheadings on our own urban and rural streets. Liberals ONLY see with their myopic vision. It is conservatives who are keeping this nation running. If everyone was a liberal, we'd all be killing each other because of lack of tolerance for inter-culturalism. Liberals lack wisdom and think that true "tolerance" means accepting all things sinful. They can then look out from this comfort zone and accept what they really are from within. Whitewashed tombs.

traitorist students at Kent State
This problem with left-wing college Professors is not a new problem. During my short stay at Indiana University, way back in the 1940s, one Professor, (I don’t remember the subject, but it wasn’t Political Science, or Economics), spent most of his class time ranting against the United States.

One day he came to class with a big smile on his face, and spent class time bragging about his new job, at a University in Socialist Sweden. He bragged that he would be living under a great government.

We almost cheered when class was over, and we never saw him again.

One of my brothers was a college Professor for 50 years, and I am sure he never spouted the liberal line.

Another Brother was a school official not far from Kent State during the State Guard incident. He was in meetings with various Government officials, and was told that they were aware of very dangerous, destructive plans on the part of the criminal, traitorist students at Kent State. Much of what he learned was to be kept secret, so I have no further details, and that brother passed away 25 years ago.

Surely, some of his students HAVE to own some of those phones with a DVR connected to it. You won't be called Shirely anymore. Promise.

Ann Coulter
How amazing that on a day when Ann's column is posted, she is mentioned on Adam's thread as well. It just never ceases to amaze me at how frightened liberals are of Ann. If they'd bother to read her very funny and very well-documented books, they might understand that she presents cogent arguments punctuated with raging satire.

Of course, the libs who cry the loudest don't see the satire, because it is just business as usual to their way of communicating.

I wonder what conservative books WOULD be acceptable? Mark Steyn, Rush Limbaugh, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History???

Student Evaluations
As far as the efficacy of student evaluations, I must say that I appreciated the contrast between Pino's and Adam's student responses.

Most students that I remember from undergraduate school either slept through, or were hungover from the weekend, or skipped class until it was test-time. "Easy A" classes were the rage, and critical rviews of the professor for after-class evaluations were usually bland unless there's something unusual about the professor.

To see excitement, like the comments about Adams, is, I believe, an unusual thing. It makes me want to take a CJ class from him. Too bad I'm stuck on the Left Coast.

Well Lilly,

the reason you have never heard this story before is because the left-wing colleges (most/many of them) would never consider a man who was a real patriot, and there are so few patriotic college officials who would consider hiring a famous leftist in the first place.

By the way, I read Chemerinsky’s column and your drivel, under the heading of “Know the Enemy.” Well that doesn’t really refer to Chemerinsky’s work, while left wing, his columns are often interesting.

The problem with the lefty writers and posters, is that some people might not be aware of their real background and ideas, and might believe some of it. The idea is, read the lefties, so you can make better sense when you are really reading actual facts.

I would have said Conservative true facts, but that is a triple redundancy.

I live in Indianapolis and I am not surprised at all. I do not think there is a school anywhere, any grade that does not have at least one teacher who preaches instead of teaching! I have dealt with this at some level, with each of my three kids while in public school.

At about that same time, my uncle was Superintendent of Schools in Naptown (that’s what students at IU, who were from Indianapolis called it), and he most certainly was very unhappy with any teacher who wanted to preach, rather than teach, on either side of the political chasm.

Someday I may tell the story of my Uncle and the 2nd Admendent, but not on this column, don’t even ask.

My home was about 60 miles north of Naptown, in a little town named after my G-G-Grand'pa.

Pedantic nitpick
A poster above writes, "As they say "proof is in the pudding"." Actually, no articulate person says that, because it is meaningless. It is a misquotation of an old adage, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating," which does mean something. Specifically, irrespective of how the pudding looks, you cannot tell if it is good or not until you eat it.
With respect to "the proof is in the pudding," what precisely is "the proof," and how did it get into "the pudding" in the first place. As I said before, that statement is meaningless.

Whenever I hear someone say, "the proof is in the pudding," I am reminded of my Mother, who used to says such things as, "Well, it's six of one and a dozen of the other." Or, "We'll burn that bridge when we come to it." And, "That's the way the cookie bounces."

As the leading character in one of my favourite television shows used to say, "Missed it by that much."

Doc writes: Thursday, September, 20, 2007 1:18 PM

I only attended school for a few months in Indiana, and found the classes so boring that I spent much of my time in the local library. One day the principal came into the Library, and when he saw me he roared. The Librarian said, “He’s here every day, I thought he was supposed to be here.”

Well, on a common agreement I left school, joined the Merchant Marine, then spent my 18th birthday in the harbor of Singapore, on my way from Manila to Calcutta, as a crewman on a troop ship. The harbor in Singapore was filled with sunken ships, and every building looked crumbled.

That’s much better than any time I sent in school. I guess my education was enough, I got into the so-called computer business in 1950, computers became “clay in my hands,” and I retired at age 50 and traveled all over the world, well much of it, with my Beautiful Sweetie.

Now the question is, what does this have to do with the Adam’s column today??????

You are SOOO right! Last year, my daughter's sixth grade class spent six weeks studying immigration. It would have been tolerable if the instruction started with the year 1492. However, the whole six weeks was devoted to current immigration from the south. There was no mention of European, Asian, African, Pacific or any other type of immigration. I not only became involved, I managed to raise serious questions about the principal and his indoctrination techniques. He no longer works at the school, and this year, the topic of immigration will include all areas, and only taught for ten days. It's a small victory, but I'll take it!!

ideological cleansing
There is a disturbing rhetorical trend among conservatives. A trend whose consequences I am not certain they themselves fully have fully confronted. That trend is to call for the sacrifice of the liberal academic tradition to the expediency of conservative theocratic politics.

Are conservatives willing to live in an America in which scientific inquiry and free academic debate has been sacrificed at alter of tradition and superstitious mysticism?

One need not look far to see what academic purges have brought those societies who have advocated such anti intellectual ideological cleansing crusade.

wbheff – “old adage?”

If one is to be a “Pedantic nitpick,” one should be irrefutably erudite. Which, you apparently are not, and I do not claim to be.

Nonetheless, I do happen to know that “old adage” is a redundant expression. Adage, according to Harper’s Dictionary of Contemporary Usage, implies age by definition. Defined, adage is, “An old saying, which has obtained credit by long use; a proverb.”

Those who live in glass houses should always wait for the other shoe to fall. Or something like that… ;-)

I know the point and it is well taken. Much of Adams’ writing career is based on it. In this particular case, we have heard about Pino repeatedly. The law is not involved because Pino is not actually a threat. It is now an issue for Kent State officials, students (parents too) and alumni to resolve with Ohio authorities. Subsequently, I ask why is Adams still involved to this level? He is no longer serving his original intention. Yes, Pino is as you describe him. He is also part of a greater problem, but he is not front page news.

Icedog: I know that book. My point is that the web site is a whimsical source for information, but if you are going to use it, then use it honestly.

Steve - education vs indoctrination
"If a teacher does not teach what he believes, then he is just a water-boy for the ideas of somebody else."

A teacher is not paid to teach what he believes, he's paid to teach FACTS. He is, in some cases, paid to teach students how to think objectively and rationally. He is NOT paid to promote his beliefs.

I can picture an engineering professor wasting time teaching his belief in the "Dean Machine" or the falsifying of the moon landing. These may be things he believes, but they have nothing to do with the facts of the laws of physics.

I don't know how familiar you are with kent state. It is located south of cleveland and has been, at least in the past, one of the state colleges for those who either lived in the area or couldn't get into the flag ship Ohio State. The real problem is that so many colleges have been taken over by the vestiges of the hippie movement of the 60's which opposed everything conventional about society and a hatred for capitolism. Unlike other movements the hippies and their fellow travelers wanted to decontruct all the evils they thought they saw around them. However all they offered was if it feels good, do it But these hippies never got over there bad drugs and group sex. So colleges are now nests of indoctrination rather than acxtual study. But timid administrators are intimidated by all the wackos running departments. To question current dogma advocated by the nut cases running departments leads to character assassination as was put on display with harvard's treatment of lawrence summers. But always beware of the femisnists. They have become the biggest obstacles to any meaningful reform as their real power base has become established in the university system and are backed up by their equally insane lawyer enablers

Sorry chr3354

Me personally in college I have not really had any professors I felt were trying to do anything more than teach the material they were hired to do and they tried to avoid politics all together. Now i may have just been lucky but i have not really had much experince with any leftist professors i know some exist, but i have not had any.

Bman1
I certainly hope you are not holding your breath.

Hmmm.
I personally never did notice any sort of political bias in my professors in college, although, I only took a few introductory humanities and social sciences my freshman year (I was a Chemistry major). Anyway, most of the bias I ever saw was essentially disciplinary bias: for example, one of my professors that I had for two semesters of physical chemistry used a textbook written by himself (though, I can see why he'd want to do that, of course). I guess this sort of nonsense is more prevalent in the humanities and social sciences.

"There is a disturbing rhetorical trend among conservatives. A trend whose consequences I am not certain they themselves fully have fully confronted. That trend is to call for the sacrifice of the liberal academic tradition to the expediency of conservative theocratic politics."

Incorrect.

The liberal academic tradition no longer exists, except at a very few private colleges. In the majority of academia, the liberal academic tradition has already BEEN sacrificed, burned and buried, to the Leftist god of political correctness. It just doesn't exist anymore. If anything, the trend among conservatives is to call for the reestablishment of the liberal academic tradition - *in the sense in which the phrase was originally meant.*

The problem is, the Left seems incapable of distinguishing between "the free inquiry of ideas" and "the freedom to receive ideas which We, the Left, have judged to be the correct ones."

Just as an example, try writing a paper in any Anthrolopogy class in the country, in which you take a traditionalist approach to values. You will get a nasty surprise.

Nobody who HAS served in the military honorably, would advocate the use of force without serious reservations. Let's not forget all of the retired generals who have recently come out against this war.

"Publicizing his book, "The Battle for Peace," in a recent "Meet the Press" appearance, retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni, a four-star former commander of the Central Command, describes administration behavior that ranged from "true dereliction, negligence and irresponsibility" to "lying, incompetence and corruption." Another Marine, retired Lt. Gen. Greg Newbold, has written in Time magazine that the Iraq war was unnecessary. Finally, Lt. Gen. Bernard Trainor and Michael Gordon have written a history of the invasion of Iraq, Cobra II, which describes a willfully self-deluding planning process."

The Search for Truth
The root of the problem in academia lies in its revisionist mission and its complete lack of accountability to those who fund them.

Except under narrow circumstances relating to certain specific fields of study (say philosophy or constitutional law), the primary purpose of the university IS NOT to promote or express free speech, or even the “pursuit of truth.”

In historical times (circa 19th century and prior), the public university served primarily to EDUCATE its students into fields of occupation that were deemed beneficial to society at large, AS DETERMINED by society. In other words, if society thought there was a benefit to having engineers or medical doctors, it funded those programs in the schools. Those deemed to have marginal value to society were not. Boards of trustees and elected officials took care to see that these purposes were properly pursued.

With the modern “professionalizing” of the university, however, professors and their programs of study increasingly became accountable only to their peer group, and the standards developed by themselves, and not “the public.” As the decades have progressed, their purposes and standards of research have morphed into the current abstraction from reality, purposefulness and accountability it is today.

Now, professors (with tenure, particularly) are free to pursue whatever subjects interest them, advocate whatever causes inspire them, say whatever thoughts pop into their fevered activist mind, in whatever way they choose, without regard to any reasonable standards of purpose, decorum or usefulness. So long as they do it in the name of “The Search for Truth,” literally anything goes, and they cannot be touched.

They hide behind free speech rights as if there was something special about their occupations that exempted them from the normal rules of conduct and accountability to their employer that the rest of the working world is subject to.

Hank and Doc
This is only my second day posting, and already am in need of tissues, since I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. I must say this is extremely entertaining. As for Hank, I try to take it in the spirit it's intended, but being a military wife, and working in diplomatic circles, not to mention in combat medicine, I find your posting of the generals that are against this administration's current policy slightly rankling. My better half just returned from a tour where he earned a Bronze Star, a Combat Badge, and a Purple Heart, which he donated to be used by another comrade. The irony is that he's a physician, and in the course of helping the local population, they used him as target practice. Try talking to the actual generals down range, the ones that see the injured and the trampled everyday. They have a better grasp of reality.

Good evening...
First and foremost, YLG is a fabulous catch. Almost every man that works with me and knows her asks if she has sisters. So it isn't just her who thinks she is a catch.
Secondly, 'on board'? How silly is that? Most of us in the military aren't 'on board' as you understand the terminology. We just all understand that war is necessary. As a matter of fact, as I left my wife for my duty in the middle east I told her, 'If something happens to me, just remember, I died not doing what I wanted to do, but rather what needed to be done.' If you are living in this country and benefitting from such a life, you are a beneficiary of one war or another be it the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI or WWII. Just think about that.
Third, do you really think the Iraqis believe that this is a war about oil? If you do, then you are arguably short-sighted. I have sat with many Iraqis, talked to them, ate with them, fought along side them, and tended to their wounded and dead. They don't believe this is about oil, they believe this is about freedom and a better life. Now, you may argue that it doesn't matter what they believe or what I believe, but I could rebut that it equally doesn't matter what you believe. Belief is not necessarily truth. But I have taken one step more than you have, I have volunteered and taken up arms. I have been there, done that, got the T-shirt....literally. I have spoken to our guys...spoken with hundreds of our wounded. They also have a slightly different opinion of what is happening over there and what their sacrifice is about. I have spoken to those on the ground. I KNOW what they think this war is about. So forgive me for being blunt, I don't give a second thought to what you believe for you are so far off the mark on this issue as to not even be in the same country that I serve.

Back in the early 1960s, my Sweetie worked for a large national company, and her Word Processing consisted of her typewriter (no video screen) connected to a large computer 20 miles away. That was everything but fun, or even very useful.

Very moving. I too have family and friends in Iraq and they tell me, with the exception of my nitwit cousin, this war is unwinnable. They are very well aware of who they are fighting for, and it isn't the Iraqis.

They don't have the benefit of being in the rear with the gear and dining with Iraqis as they are too busy ducking for cover more often then not.

And, frankly I did volunteer. So happens daddy Bush gave me and many others an early "retirement" when they decided our armed forces were TOO BIG!

So we did our time with honor and were given the boot anyway. I'm sorry you are all paying for that now.

And this comparison to the WWII generation is just silly. First of all, many were DRAFTED, I know that is a shock. Secondly, we went after the countries THAT ATTACKED US! Where was Saddam during the entire 1990's? Again thanks to daddy Bush? Under lock and key, otherwise known as the no fly zone. He didn't have a chance to do anybody harm and even the 911 commission has cleared him of involvement.

And lastly, why would I volunteer for a war I don't believe in in the first place? I didn't vote for Bush in 2004, precisely because I knew he was careless with the lives of our military men and women. I knew he and his posse of oil baron friends had no values when they attacked an honorable man like Max Cleland, who ACTUALLY served. I guess three limbs wasn't enough for them.

So, you enjoy your time in the mess with the Iraqis you fight for. My family members will be fighting for their friends, in the other military mess.

YLG
OH YEA hank is ummmmmm entertaining!
Welcome to both of you!

Hank
Never Got it,
Never will!

I see this devolved into an Iraq
argument, but as to academic freedom and the First Amendment, neither protects terroristic threats (felony), anti-Semitism (discrimination on the grounds of religion violate the orig. 1964 Civil Rights Acts), or calls for the violent overthrow of the gov't (Alien and Sedition Act of 1798 and still the standard for treason).

As to Iraq, it doesn't have to be a perfect copy of the US to be a successful country. It can still have tribal traditions, even blood feud, as long as a reasonable rep. gov't considers all the various factions and has them rep'd in its legilature and reasonable enough security so that the bus. comm. and civil soc. can function.

We kill c. 100,000 annually from car accidenrs, murders, and suicides and still see ourselves as functioning relatively highly.

A semi-dem. Iraq means no-tyranny in the center of the Middle East, a buffer against Iran's nuclear extorion, a fellow dem. for Lebanon and maybe Israel, a protection for the moderate Arabs, source of employment for millions of aggressive young men who need to be occupied, and an example of a free 240,000,000 country twice the size of CA. IF it happens, we will have done it with 150,000 troops, not easily rivaled by any nation anywhere.

If you would prefer Saddam were still there feeding his multitudes of enemies into wood chippers, you would've liked that Hitler kept the trains running on time.

Hank
Your comments to my hubby are....well,hmmmm...I can't even think of words. But rest easy in the fact my husband took a bullet so you could post those very words to him. I, in turn, am grateful for your previous service. However, I take exception to you calling your cousin a nitwit. Is it because he disagrees with you that you resort to name-calling? Seems mean-spirited of you.

Renny
You are very right in that we derailed from the Pino argument. I for one would like to resume that thread!

to Well, now RE:Pigs in the middle East
The problem with pigs in the Middle east may be their unsuitability for arid environments. they tend to eat the same types of food as humans, as they have similar digestive systems. they would compete with people for scarce food supplies. Cattle and sheep, being ruminants, can digest plant material that people cannot, turning inedible material , like grass, into edible material, like beef.

Retssgt/Eastlake Joe
I much prefer calling the Ark carpetbagger "Her Royal Hindass". It has such a nice ring, don'tcha think?

Renny
BTW, thanks for the post. Some people believe it must run at 100% before a republic is successful. Your argument is solid and very welcome. I hope to use it in my conversations with my left-leaning friends. Thanks again!

Mr&MRS YLG
You two exemplify what is still right about this country. God bless both of you. On another subject, I hope the wind isn't blowing hard enough that you smell what hank is spreading. Best of luck to you both. Joe

Taproot
You better watch out son she'll getcha'!!!

laff break
Things are getting a bit heated up so I thought I'd do my part and try to give you earnest folks a laugh and possibly a feel-good.

to Mr/Mrs YLG....
Thank you both for your willing sacrifice to this country and to all her citizens, even though not all of them have the decency to say "thank you"!

Uncle Max
Was that a feel-good, or a good feel? \:)

Mike Adams' column,
though dealing with a specific professor and specific issue, brings up the broader point that colleges and universities are no longer "institutions of higher learning," but rather social engineering factories of left-wing persuasion.

I doesn't matter what institution our sons or daughters attend, they will, without doubt, come under the perverted influence of a Julio Assad Pino, a Ward Churchill or an Angela Davis, or any one of a thousand sixties rejects who, left with no collective venue to vent their bile after the Vietnam war, and unable to find gainful employment in the private sector, sought refuge in American schools, colleges and universities. Ward Çhurchill, for instance, fabricated his whole history, even plagiarizing others in order to gain tenure at UC Boulder. Former Black Panther Angela Davis, despite a criminal history, (including conspiracy to murder) now teaches her hatred of racist America at UC Santa Cruz, in a so-called "history of consciousness" course. (made up, of course, to suit her ideology)

David Horowitz, in his excellent book "The Professors," lists the "101 most dangerous academics in America." And there are many, many more. Worthwhile reading.

Hitler said, (I'll paraphrase) "Give me the children of Germany, and I will make them mine."
And he did with the Hitler Youth.

What's happening in our schools and universities is every bit as dangerous.

Thank you
Doc and Mrs YLG: Thank you for both your sacrifices. Doc, thanks for taking care of our troops over there. Now, just take care of yourself. YLG, thank you for supporting your hubby, giving him the knowledge that you are behind him 100%, freeing him from that nagging worry at the back of his mind, so he can concentrate fully on the task at hand.

Take care and bless you both

YLG
I call my cousin a "nitwit", because I love him and he just requested to be redeployed. He has never been known for his sober thinking.

He is a dreamer and has never known a life outside the military. All of his friends are military he has always been coddled by the system.

I myself am a conservative, but in a very different way. I was very much like him during my service, but when I had to fend for myself in the civilian world, I had to deal with the realities of our economy and providing for a family. So these issues are foremost in my mind and have shaped my politics as an adult.

I am a pragmatist. I have done extensive travel outside of the US and have seen firsthand the effects of BushCo's "foreign policy". The Euro is at an all time high against the dollar, Asian countries are turning to Europe for trade and infrastructure contracts, our deficit is at an ALL TIME HIGH!

His strategy of "taking it to the terrorists" is a complete fairytale. Al qaeda did not exist in Iraq before our invasion. Patraeus even admits that. Now they have a homegrown movement. Foreign fighters DO NOT make up the majority of these wackos, as this administration would like you to believe. They are not being siphoned off from the larger movement.

BushCo policies have caused al qaeda to metastasize and now millions more hate America.

I sympathize with General Patraeus. If he had been in charge all along, maybe we would be out of there by now. But, even he isn't sure if our invasion of Iraq was good for American security.
He's not even sure if the current strategy will work.

He is trying to make the best of a horrible blunder. When Bush approved Bremmer's Debathification program, all bets were off.

We had a civil war in this country and it only made us stronger. Maybe its time for a little house cleaning in the ME. I just don't want to see your husband and my friends and family in the middle of it.

Pino and his ilk
Why does everybody disparage liberals like Pino? Why if it wasn't for liberals we would still be a back-water, corn-shuckin', constitution reading bunch of rubes. Liberals gave us Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Ede Amin, Ho Chi Mhin, Mao, Adolf Hitler and Ahmadinejad just to name a few. Liberals gave us busing, affirmative action, failed public education, illegal immigration, frivolous law suits, the trillion dollar war on poverty, the homosexual agenda, pornography, political correctness, diversity, left wing college professors, abortion on demand, the ACLU and LBJ's great society. Liberals managed to get 58k American troops killed in Vietnam. The current problems in Iran are courtesy of the far left and enormously incompetent Jimmy Carter who drove the Shah of Iran from power and ushered in the Ayatollas. As much as I dislike George Bush, at least he's not ignoring the Islamic threat as was done by Bill Clinton. So cut Pino some slack and remember that when push comes to shove, he and his liberal ilk will be the first to demand that America sacrifice her young men and women to protect his right to denigrate them.

Thanks hank
You have just pointed out that there was no al qaeda in Iraq before we got there. While that may be or may not be true, at least they are there shooting off their jihad and not here. Hmmm was that such a bad thing? I think Not!

Doc
Believe I said it best when I said:

"His strategy of "taking it to the terrorists" is a complete fairytale. Al qaeda did not exist in Iraq before our invasion. Patraeus even admits that. Now they have a homegrown movement. Foreign fighters DO NOT make up the majority of these wackos, as this administration would like you to believe. They are not being siphoned off from the larger movement.

Can you read at an adult level? I am trying to dumb it down for you guys as best I can.

overdosing
Bobaz, your 'tribute' to Pino was breath-taking. Liberals have indeed given
us so much, maybe it's time we stopped taking so much and gave them a little back. I definitely think that demented little man at KSU is pure evil and has been overdosing on some form of Islamic 'pino coladas.' And, Hank, if anyone knows about 'dumbing it down', you do.

Don't go off the deep end
A lot of TH readers come up with lots of good old-fashioned, unreconstructed, frothing at the mouth Jew-hatred from time to time, especially when they blame the neocons and the Israeli lobby for all of America's problems with the Islamic world. I'm at a loss to understand why more conservatives don't try to figure out why that is the case.

Mike comes across as a real friend of Jews and of Israel--unless this is all just for the sake of his argument--and this may show that he's not a complete right wing nut case after all.

Hatred of Jews is deeply rooted in the thinking of the Right, as European history shows so painfully. Just look at little deeper folks, and you'll find it.

don't tell his hanky panky phart
Yup, sittn back and waiting for the Islanazis to cook up a nuke and detonate it in Manhattan was by far the safer policy. Soddem and Dr. Germ 5 years further along with their "research" would have made us much safer.

And we all know that Al Qaida shares absolutely No Congruencies of Aim, Purpose, and Principle with the rest of Sandnazism.

Look at a map, hankypanky, the STRATEGIC Economic, Political, and Religious Centers of Gravity in Sandnaziland ain't in Tora Bora.

They lie in Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia

States with which IRAQ is CONTIGUOUS.

God, first the Commiequeers and Quislings want to
make the Islanazis a kind of minor mafia, bout as dangerous as the Black Panthers, and send in J.Edgar Hoover, now they want us to believe they are a mere disease and sic the Scrubs on em.

They are the 21st Century Racist Imperialist Japs (Rapers of Nanking, Purveyors of the Bataan Death March)and Nazis (you know the guys who brought you the Holocaust?) COMBINED. They are WORSE than either, have FAR more financial resources than either and ACTUALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY to ATTACK OUR HOMELAND!!!

And hanky wants to try Acupuncture. I say RADIATION THERAPY, hank.

the big mick

Jestell the truth
is that you're cookin your outdated (and false even when not dated) linear model of "left" and "right" again girl.
Constitutional Conservatism has nothing in Common with European Nazism--which is, as the Historian Tom Wolfe pointed out--a fraternal Twin to Maoist Stalinist Communism. The latter two being STATIST and TYRANNOUS the First Being about Individual Liberty.

Bend your left-right line into a circle (this should tell you something about the overlap between Commiequeers and Nazis) and place Constitutional Conservatism near the apex of the cone for which the left/right circle is the base.

There's the real model, not a false construct to disguise the Horrible Tyrannous nature of Commeiequeerdom.

As to Anti-Semitism. The staunchest supporters of Israel are the Conservative Christians. The biggest howlers about "the Jewish Lobby"--the commiequeers. Find the anti-semite,Gestee.

Absolutely gestell!
"I'm at a loss to understand why more conservatives don't try to figure out why that is the case."

I wanted to thank everyone who welcomed me yesterday. I had to go early, and did not get a chance to post any comments. As I said previously, I find this very entertaining, and almost therapeutic.

BTW, Hank, I'm not ignoring your last post to me. I just don't think you are open to other threads of discussion. While I do respect your opinion, I think I'm better off leaving you plenty of rope.....

Thanks again for the entertainment!

I challenge you to ..... oh, let's use loaded keyboards at dawn! How dare you call me a leftist?!? That's a term I reserve for folks like Genghis Kahn.

And, as for my being a better speller than someone else, you will note that I didn't have to look far for the URL of IESpell (http://www.iespell.com). I use it all the time.

Do I understand that you're on vacation in Iraq? Sure picked a lousy spot to get away from it all. That's even worse than my vacationing in Vietnam a few years ago (OK, 40 if you want to get nasty about ages and such). Anyway, if you are vacationing in that lovely sand box, thank you for answering your nation's call.

hank, earnest, gestell
we support isreal because isreal is an ally you support allies that is why they are called allies. and do you people really think that the ME would be all fine and dandy if isreal just didnt exist. they would just find some other excuse.

CHR
The question is WHY? Let me give you an analogy. You hang around with a friend who is constantly picking fights with people and expecting you to have his back, even though this "friend" is a total douchenozzle.

You are only as good as the company you keep. The idea of Israel is just silly. We help a group of people (zionists) take land that belongs to someone else (palestinians)and set up a religious state. And we expect those original residents to be nice to us?

The America I live in is supposed to advocate justice and fair play. We have no dog in this fight. It is time to stop provoking the residents of that region with our support of this immoral regime.

In fact, we could go a long way toward mending our relations in that region, by actually imposing sanctions on that regime.

And CHR
Give me a little credit. I actually have a Master's Degree in History. I know it is also about oil and ethnocentrism. Israel is just a very demonstrative piece of that puzzle.

YLG
"BTW, thanks for the post. Some people believe it must run at 100% before a republic is successful. Your argument is solid and very welcome. I hope to use it in my conversations with my left-leaning friends. Thanks again!"

BUSH is the one who told us the goal is DEMOCRACY! HE set the bar THAT high. And now, as the reality of the situation has finally sunk in, he has CHANGED the definition of success. Talk about "cut and run"

That is the problem with this guy and the crew of clowns he surrounds himself with. Either they don't care, or they are just so ignorant that they don't consider the CONSEQUENCES.

Either way, it isn't they who pay the price. THEIR family members are safe and THEY continue to amass personal fortunes.

Looks a lot lot a third world dictatorship to most of us.

Hank
I'm sorry if my post offended you in anyway. I'm sure I did, since you have resorted to name-calling. No need for that! In my view, Renny has a solid argument about how republics function. Nowadays, the words 'republic' and 'democracy' seem to be interchangeable. I still see the difference in semantics. However, I take exception to the 'personal fortunes' jibe. It sounds as if you suffer from wealth envy. If you wish to be taken seriously, keep feelings out and facts in the argument. Now, I have to go tuck the kiddies into bed. Goodnight, and may God, in his infinite wisdom, keep you.

YLG
I called you a name? Not sure what you mean? I am well aware of the definition of republic, but that isn't what Bush termed as "success" until very recently. He keeps changing the rules in the middle of the game to save face. This is exactly the hypocrisy the repubs have come to represent.

YLG
I guess you haven't seen my posts elsewhere on the site. I am a fiscal conservative who is doing quite well financially. I love money as much as the next guy. I just can't condone putting ethics aside to acquire more of it. Believe it or not, the two are not mutually exclusive.

hank
land that belongs to someone else (palestinians)and set up a religious state. And we expect those original residents to be nice to us?

well seeing as you are a history major you should known that when isreal was first proposed they also were going to create an offical state of palestine (palestine never exsited as a true state in the modern age) as well but guess what the natives rejected it why is that.

btw isreal doesnt pick fights just merely and agressive stance as they are surronded by hostile nations on all sides. just remmeber the first war isreal loses will be its last.

In fact, we could go a long way toward mending our relations in that region, by actually imposing sanctions on that regime

hahaha as i said earlier if isreal didnt exsit they would just come up with another excuse read the book WHY THEY HATE (cant tell you the authors name cant remmeber it)

you will never see this but oh well

Forgive Steve,
he is simply a brainwashed product of the American educational system. In that system it is not necessary to be able to think. Obviouly Steve does not. He parrots an asinine talking point about honest exchange of ideas, and the advantages of honest diversity of opinion. (I don't quote him directly, but that is basically what he is saying).

He is incapable of recognizing the hypocrisy it takes to defend a freak like Pino, with his anti-semetism, and at the same time be dedicated to rejecting bias against blacks. Do not expect rational, critical thinking. The system is designed to assure Steve's almost schizophrenic perceptions.

I have often wondered what would happen if a pathetic creature like Steve was put in a situation that he could not physically escape from, and confronted with the rebuttal of every one of his nutty beliefs. I'm not talking about incarceration for an extended period. One weekend should be more than enough.

I really believe that he would decompensate. He would experience a psychotic episode. I think that there is a good possibility that he would become violent. I base that on my conversations with leftists who, when I gently probed their political assertions, went from nervousness to agitation. Finally they fled. They ran away from the discussion.

What is being done to children in public schools is monstrous. Amerca is forty years into the behavioral modification of its society. The country is full of people like Steve. It is very questionable whether America can survive them.

to all who prefer not to do homework
"btw isreal doesnt pick fights just merely and agressive stance as they are surronded by hostile nations on all sides. just remmeber the first war isreal loses will be its last"

The mere existence of Israel is an aggressive act.

And yes, you are right, Palestine has been conquered by many forces over the last several thousand years(including the Hebrews). Great Britain was the last such colonizer.

Israel was mostly occupied by Arabs but even a few Jews still resided there under the Ottoman Turks. Before TE Lawrence could organize an Arab revolt he had to convince the Arabs that they would get something in return and not simply be another vassal state.

The British High Commissioner in Egypt at the time was Sir Henry McMahon. In 1916, he was authorized to promise the Arabs a state of their own in return for their aid in toppling the Turks. So the Arabs went to war against the turks and shed much blood in the process.

Unfortunately they were not privy to talks that were also going on in England between English Jewish leaders(Lionel Rothschild)and British Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour that would lead to the Balfour Declaration in 1917. This proclamation promised European Jews a homeland in Palestine.

Of course after the revolts that toppled the Turks with many Arab lives lost, the Arab leaders were incensed when they learned that European Jews who had never shed blood for, nor ever worked the land of Palestine would be given some land that was already promised to them.

did your homework Pt. 2
And the what's even more shocking is that after European Jews streamed into Palestine, several Jewish terror groups began to plot the overthrow of the very British forces that protected their (Jewish)claim to this land.

The culmination of their efforts resulted in the terror bombing of the King David Hotel, an event which many Jews celebrate to this day.

So, why exactly do we support Israel?
Can't figure out what modern day significance the land of Palestine has for US?

I realize the facts don't mean...
anything to you guys. I mean, you only read one "history" book, written by a bunch of hippyass "peace and love" types.

Hank
I don't know why we support lawyers either but some do. There'd be a lot less strife in the world without them too.

Joe
I pray, you never need one. I have used attorney services on several occasions. Mainly to help me sort through bureaucratic paperwork regarding international trade. I can tell you, they EARNED every penny of their fees. What a nightmare.

Hank
What about the ones that milk divorces for everything that they can just to pad their pockets? Or the ones that Take 30 to35% from workers comp claims that people could fill out themselves. They don't care if they bankrupt the company or if the worker gets a fair share as long as they line their pockets.
You take the big settlements on class action, why do they deserve 3.5 million when the highest paid litigant gets 6 to 700,000? It's a racket.

BTW
If what you say about foreign trade is true, How many contracts have the Isreal buisinesses refused from you to cause you to be so anti- sematic?

Joe
First of all, gotta take he good with the bad. Sorry, if you've had bad experiences personally. Here is an article you might find interesting Seems some lawyers are doing good for people.

"...How many contracts have the Isreal buisinesses refused from you to cause you to be so anti- sematic?"

See Joe, I don't base my political decisions on my personal gains or losses. I base mine on what is good for our county as a whole. Its called PATRIOTISM. I know that's a word some equate with unquestioning loyalty to the leadership, but the dictionary definition is much different.

Liberal-Progressives...

Are simply Bigots.

They hate Jews, Christians, White males, Conservatives, SUV drivers, Straight gender, Housewives, Marriage, Abstinence, Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Libertarians, Hunters, Fisherman, Policeman, Prosecutors (sometimes), American flags, Borders, Law & Order, etc.

I listen to the Democrat voters, and there is a common thread... Hate.

Hate is bred through dysfunctional parenting and government endorsements. There is only one reason to hate someone who isn't harming you...
Jealousy!

Hank
"Just the existance of Isreal is an agressive act. What a racist statement. By your line of thought, Iran, just by it's existence is an agressive act towards us. Don't forget, they support terrorists. Same thing for Pakistan and quite a few other ME countries. Wow, just think of the Native Americans. We better watch out. CRAP!!!

Joe
Joe, difference between you and me is I wouldn't be upset if native Americans rose up against whitey. I happen to be a 1/4 Cree. You live by the sword die by it friend.

And, nice try with the race card. Grow up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David_Hotel_bombing

Hey carlos
I notice you didn't mention them gays.

interesting
hank never said anything about the people now known as palistineans rejecting the original two state solution so both groups the jews and palistineans could both have a country to call home.

hank writes
the very exsitence of Isreal is an act of agression.

you do realize they say the same thing about America, and the only reason the gripe about isreal is it is closer and easier to attack. besides i tend never to belive people that willingly put the lives of civilians in danger either by attacking them directly or hideing among them.

You clowns are too funny
Why should the Palestinians have accepted any two state solution? Hahaha, you don't read very well do you? The Arabs shed the blood to kick the Turks out, not the EUROPEAN JEWS.

Just a reminder
"Of course after the revolts that toppled the Turks with many Arab lives lost, the Arab leaders were incensed when they learned that European Jews who had never shed blood for, nor ever worked the land of Palestine would be given some land that was already promised to them."

Hey, Blackbeard...
I looked over those two links you provided on Adams and Pino. It was just like you said.

I also noticed that Pino didn't provide a photo. Must be ashamed to show his face. How typical...

Phil212
The correct title is :
"The protocols of the elders of zion"

It is a debunked book written to demonize the jews.
A complete fabrication, it is almost constantly used by the ignorant and easily deceived as a way to discredit and attack jews while creating distrust.
It is also complete and utter hogwash nonsense.

hank...
Oh good, the racist anti-semite is back on townhall to spread his brand of ignorant, stupid hatred.
Thanks for pointing to the bombing of the king david hotel AGAIN.
Don't you get tired of exposing yourself as a jew-hater?
It's sad, really. You accept anything anti-jew as true and reject any mitigating circumstances or reasoning.
It's all black and white to you. Or is it 'jew or not jew'?
The king david hotel bombing was a result of racist, anti-jewish immigration policies of the british government. The bombing, though regrettable, stemmed from a group of passionate people who understood that the British immigration policies during nazi germany and poland occupation was resulting in even more jewish deaths in concentration camps. They felt they had to act. They made warning calls, sent a warning letter, and did everything they could to minimize casualties.
It was a horrible thing to have happen, but not entirely without justification.
And it caused Britain to leave the region and give control to the jews and the nation of israel. And likely resulted in hundreds of thousands of jews being given a chance to survive.
Enjoy your stay in hell. When you arrive to defend yourself before god, how will you explain your hard work in a life dedicated to spreading hatred of jews?
Not well is my guess.

hank...
one more thing to combat your incessant anti-semitism...
The jews had an older claim to Israel than you are willing to acknowledge. Go read the old testament.

Or the Koran, which makes it clear that Israel is the land of the jews and they should not be interfered with or harmed in any way.

The jews owned that land until the romans forcibly removed them.

i would say that a 5000+ year old claim to that land predates any other claim.

Hey jeff!
Thing is Jeff, I think the Bible is just an old novel written by a bunch of Hebrew hippies hittin' the old hookah pipe. Nice alliteration, eh!

No matter how much you'd like it to be so, YOUR Bible is not OUR Constitution.

And, I have read your Bible. It was okay. I especially like the Old Testament with all of the war and smiting stuff. Very inspiring!

I guess you haven't read it, 'cause you'd know there was a group called the Canaanites living there BEFORE your beloved Hebrews. Guess what? The modern day Palestinians are related to them.

And your "Jew-hater" rhetoric is getting old, bud. Nobody believes you hypocrites anymore.

I have proposed on many occasions that the USA allow any Israeli, Jew and non-Jew, to emigrate to our country.

What kind of "Jew-hater" would suggest that?

I just think the whole idea of ISRAEL is stupid. It makes about of much sense as creating a country called MIDDLE EARTH. Why not? There was a fairytale written about it, right? At least that book was entertaining to the end.

Wow Jeff
"And it caused Britain to leave the region and give control to the jews and the nation of israel."

Now, you're defending terrorism as a tool to get what you want politically?

Sounds pretty much like old Bin Laden to me.

Are you an American patriot?
It sounds to me like you love Israel more than you do the USA. Are you even an American? I could only understand your rhetoric if you were a citizen of Israel.

You should probably get over to this column if you love Israel. You and Glick can have a good ol' time agreeing with each other.

The thing is, I understand that my patriotism regarding the united states has little to do with my view of Israel. For some reason, you continue to try and imply that one cannot exist without the other.
Frankly speaking, it's because of your underlying hatred.
You must be one of those morons who believes that you cannot be a jew who loves America. The same sort of people who used anti-semitic rhetoric to try and kick Lieberman out of office because of his faith.
I love America.
I also love Israel. Care to know why?
Because unlike you, I've been there.
Because unlike you, I have family that managed to escape nazi poland to Israel as a direct result of Britain leaving Israel and allowing Israel to determing their own immigration policy.
You only see black and white, which is tragic and liberal of you (the same thing). You see the King David Hotel bombing as an act of terrorism that cannot possibly be a regrettable, though necessary action. I guess, since you are so fond of labeling based on isolated events, that you really hate the US for their acts of 'terror' in colonial times.
The boston tea party, for instance, was an act of terrorism using your definition.
Heck, according to you, the US was unjustified in fighting the revolutionary war as this was an act of terrorism.
It's okay Hank. Just come to terms with the idea that you hate jews and Israel for the same reason. You just don't trust or like jews. I can accept that and I am mystified why you cannot.

Jeff , you are way too sensitive.
First of all, Lieberman puts Israel's best interests above that of the USA. I will say the same about Giuliani or any other candidate that advocates this war and our unbridled support of Israel.

Remember when Hillary took money from the Chinese Lobby? The public was outraged. Same thing. Foreign lobby groups should be banned from donating to our candidates, PERIOD. THAT INCLUDES AIPAC!

Second, my grandfather and uncles put their butts on the line for your relatives in WWII. Without their service, your relatives would never have made it to Palestine.

Also, I never gave a definition for terror. Hell, our own FBI and State Department can't even agree on that one. Mine would involve the use or threat of physical, violent force to achieve political ends. I wouldn't include property, unless that involved a death.

So, your weak "Tea Party" analogy wouldn't hold up.

Finally, I will say, Israel was a DUMB IDEA. I mean it was bound to fail, being based on a SINGLE religion in the midst of a religiously contested region. I think Truman should have offered the Jews a home right here in the USA. We already have more Jews than Israel anyway and they have contributed mightily to our society.

And nice try with the anti-semitic stuff. I've said it before on this site and I'll say it again. The Department of Homeland Security should open our doors to ANY Israeli that would like to emigrate to the USA.

Sounds pretty "Jew-hating", eh?

Columbia U Takes America Hostage
COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY TAKES AMERICA HOSTAGE:
ACADEMIC GROUNDS FOR TREASON

BY LISA RICHARDS
September 25, 2007

Once, very long ago in America, treason was something to be abhorred. Today it is admired and aspired to. Treason is akin to women at shoe sales: grab as much as you can and don’t look back. Then flaunt your actions while your husband weeps over the credit card bill.

Let me now state with utmost categorical belligerence: I hate Mahmoud Ahmadinedjad. Not only is he a terrorist ruling a terror-run nation funneling money and weapons to terrorists killing U.S. troops, he is the man responsible for invading the American Embassy in Iran in 1979, taking United States citizens and holding them hostage for 444 days.

He is also the man who helped over throw the Shah of Iran, a friend to America whom Jimmy Carter back-stabbed, letting Ahnadinedjad revolt against freedom, capture U.S. citizens, and put the Ayatollah Khomeini in power placing Iran under theological Islamic freakish rule.

I have never forgiven Ahmadinedjad and his crony revolutionaries for what they did to America’s people. I never will. He deserves nothing but the same treatment he inflicts upon Jews, Christians and U.S. troops fighting for world freedom from Islamic nuts. He deserves what his people chant in the streets—death.

Further insult has been added to a 28 year-old injury: Columbia University’s President Bollinger had the utter gall and treasonous indecency to invite the murderous terror-monger as an honored guest speaker on campus. This is the same campus which refused to let the founder of the anti illegal immigration group Minutemen Project James Gilchrist speak, forcing him off stage, because Gilchrist is against illegal aliens in America.

Lisa WRONG THREAD!
I'll answer you, though I see you are trying to dilute the debate.

Gilchrist, WAS invited to Columbia. And he didn't have to endure lecture prior to his speech, by President Bollinger.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Gilchrist was drummed off stage by students, not Bollinger.

I happen to be a supporter of the Minutemen and I am absolutely appalled that Mr. Gilchrist did not have the security afforded Mr.Ahmadinejad. That is the REAL issue for which we should be chastising Mr. Bollinger.

try this thread:
Ahmadinejad is in, ROTC is out

"First of all, Lieberman puts Israel's best interests above that of the USA. I will say the same about Giuliani or any other candidate that advocates this war and our unbridled support of Israel."

And this is what makes you an anti-semite.
Unlike you, MOST of our leaders recognize the importance of having a democratic ally like Israel in a region full of oppressive, totalitarian, fundamentalist muslim nations.
But I would challenge you to bring prood that Lieberman puts Israel's interests above the USA's. For every insipid and short-sighted example you can find on your hate sites, I bet you american interest can be found.
That's the problem with guys like you - all you have to hear is 'israel' and you assume away, making incorrect assumptions without taking even a moment to consider the bigger picture.

Okay Jeff
Tell me, how does the Iraq war benefit the USA?

BTW, I formulated the Israel connection on my own. I happen to do some reading from time to time and have traveled just a little. The history is pretty clear.

Also, this nonsense about Israel being a democracy is just silly. Israel is a THEOCRACY.

Iraq, never posed a threat to the United States. It didn't have nukes or any WMD, and the intelligence community knew that. It was the neocons who concocted that tale.

Israel will never be at peace because Israel was a BAD IDEA. I have already explained why that is.

So, tell me Jeff, why not open our doors to any Israeli who would like to come here? Do you believe Israeli families will find LESS peace here?
