How about we make legal immigrant applicants the priority over illegal aliens for once?

How about we clear the obstructions to the "path to citizenship" for those who followed the rules and came here the right way before we start paving the "path to citizenship" for those who did it the wrong way?

When the shamnesty proponents start blubbering about compassion and fairness, ask them where their compassion is for the hundreds of thousands of legal immigrant applicants who are getting screwed -- and who have paid far more in legal fees and processing fees than the measly, cosmetic "fine" the shamnesty plan proposes for illegal aliens.

As I wrote back in January, when I warned of the Coming Amnesty Disaster while too many people were still snoozing:

We are incapable of imposing order and handling the current crush of legal immigrant applicants in a fair and timely way. You want "comprehensive immigration reform"? Start with border control, reliable adjudications, consistent interior enforcement, and efficient and effective deportation policies. And don't pretend that piling on is going to fix a darned thing.

Memo to the Department of Homeland Security: Clear the damn backlogs first.

Memo to the White House: Clear the damn backlogs first.

citizenship should take time
I agree with this commentary. It is mind boggling that our elected officials can think we can be so dumb. In fact, it scares me.

I do think we should take care of the backlog of immigration matters before allowing any amnesty scam to be considered.
However, I want it to take time to acquire citizenship for LEGAL immigrants. It doesn't have to be decades, but I believe immigrants should assimilate and understand our country before they are given the privilege to vote. This all takes time. When they become naturalized US citizens, many of them will end up with duel citizenship. If this country goes down the tubes, they will be able to run back to their native country. While US citizens, who have had families here for generations, will not have that option. These Americans could very well be stuck with a bankrupt country with no place to go. As citizens, our voices and votes matter to the future of this country. Therefore, citizenship should not come too cheap and easy.

The ILLEGAL immigrants may think we are tough on them (no amnesty), but they need to realize this country is our home---not just a place to get a job.

as far as my moniker, there are millions of Christians who are liberal.

i don't believe there is a vast conspiracy to hide the hispanic crime rate, traditionally hispanics have been considered white.

i mean if someone is from spain they are similiar to italians who we consider white, right?

immigration is a concern but leaving it status quo is not a realistic answer either.
