Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Top White House adviser Karl Rove traveled to Los Angeles this week to pay homage to the anti-immigration enforcement lobbying group for Latinos: the National Council of La Raza.

"La Raza" is Spanish for "The Race."

It's bad enough the White House lent its prestige to The Race's annual conference. But did you know the Bush administration has forked over millions of federal tax dollars directly to The Race?

According to GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood of Georgia, The Race snapped up $15.2 million in federal grants last year alone and more than $30 million since 1996. Undisclosed amounts went to get-out-the-vote efforts supporting La Raza political positions. The U.S. Department of Education funneled nearly $8 million in taxpayer grants to the group for a nationwide charter schools initiative.

Among The Race's most infamous government-funded charter schools is La Academia Semillas del Pueblo, the Los Angeles public school that teaches "Aztec math" (ancient dot math is the new math) and the Mexican indigenous language of "Nahuatl." The ethnic separatist principal of the school, Marcos Aguilar, told a sympathetic UCLA interviewer:

"We don't want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don't need a White water fountain. . . . We are not interested in what they have because we have so much more and because the world is so much larger. And ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction."

That's the tip of the iceberg. I found dozens of other publicly subsidized charter schools sponsored by The Race and funded with our money, including:

-- Aztlan Academy in Tucson, Ariz. According to The Race, the school's success rests on "Aztlan's ability to integrate a meaningful Chicano Studies program into their lives, language, and academics, as a means of developing their intellects as well as their pride and self-esteem." The school's name -- a reference to a mythical swath of the vast Southwestern U.S. expanse, which Latino activists claim is their rightful homeland and which they seek to reconquer for Mexico -- says it all.

-- Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Ariz. Who needs the three R's? At Mexicayotl, it's all about the three M's: me, me, me! The school's program is "structured and developed around the concepts of identity, culture, and language." Second mission: supporting local ethnic lobbying efforts "to right social injustices by educating the community and helping create social change." Under "greatest achievements," the school's website lists its participation in a "Peace & Dignity Run"; its visit from Rigoberta Menchu (the Marxist academic fraud from Guatemala who lied her way to a Nobel Peace Prize); and its sponsorship of the local annual Dia de los Muertos (the Mexican holiday).

-- The Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School in Pueblo, Colo. It's named after the far-Left Latina labor union activist who recently railed that "Republicans hate Latinos," praised illegal alien marchers and screeched that "We didn't cross the borders, the borders crossed us" in a hate-filled tirade before Arizona students.

-- Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn. Board of Directors member Louis Mendoza, an activist Chicano Studies professor, pushed the school to lobby for the federal DREAM Act (providing in-state tuition discounts to illegal alien students not available to legal non-residents). The school's website features one flag on its front page: the Mexican flag.

The White House will tell you that the National Council of The Race is a "moderate," mainstream civil rights group. But there's nothing "moderate" about The Race's advocacy of driver's licenses and in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens. Or its opposition to strengthening security for identity documents and improving cooperation on immigration enforcement between state, local and federal enforcement immigration officials. Or its all-out war on the House GOP's border security and enforcement-first bill passed last December.

President Bush pays lip service to immigration enforcement and assimilation, while the White House sends Karl Rove to make nice with the separatist leaders of The Race and the Bush Education Department showers our tax dollars on radical Reconquista schools. It doesn't add up.

Unless, of course, you're using Aztec math.

Bush sucks on the...
... Latino issue, period.

Now that Fox is on his way out, he has to find the new a*s to kiss south of the border.

What IS Bush thinking of?
This is chilling...........

Cut the Dollars
Since we are inundated with idiots in Washington, we need a tax revolt. There are only two choices--spend tax dollars wisely in accordance with our constitution or, failing that, deny the Washington idiots any tax dollars to spend. The word "Grant", as in giving away money, should be expunged from the government lexicon and replaced with "loan". Example Pell Grant--money given to pay someones way through college level work. College graduates make 40% more money in a lifetime that is directly attributable to the attainment of a degree. They, the Grant recipient, can afford to pay the tax payers back for that boost in life. Pell Grants should be done away with and loans continued or even expanded. To ask a tax payer to send a stranger to college while struggling to earn the dollars to send their own child is ludicrous. Only a Washington idiot, that has never read the Constitution, could even dream up a rationale to support such a program.

PANDERING AND THE PANDERING PANDERERS
THAT PANDER TO IT.
This is truly unbelievable. In efforts to secure a stronger voting bloc the Bush Administration is willing to make all of these concessions to vicious racist groups that have no interest in America.
Doesn't this stupid a*s know just by following a conservative line, i.e. closing the border, fighting to win in Iraq, not pandering to the MSM, the idiots now at the helm of-- excuse, me-- asleep at the wheel of this country,is what is going to solidify the voter base?
Don't his so-called "advisors" know that conservative voting blocs like Hispanic, Black and so on, can make up their own minds and not have to be catered to?
DON'T THEY GET IT? These jerks have bought into all the pandering set forth for 40 years by the liberal Democratic Party by having to cater to the needs of "individuals" and having "sensitivity." Mr. Rove, while your dealing out the rope, I'll get the chair.

No difference
These people are no different than neo-nazi white supremists or islamic terrorists or any of the other hate groups around the world.
Their schools are teaching seperation and the governmet that freed slaves in the 1800's and forced integration in the 1900's is paying them to be seperatists. It just boggles the mind how someone can sell out their country for an idea of future votes. It makes me ill to think of the mess that is being made over illegals who are here for disengenious reasons....the yankee dollar and the destruction of America.

The Race
Once again, Malkin alerts us to a grave danger within our midst. What would our immigrant ancestors of the late 19th and early 20thC. think of these seperatists and a bloated federal govt. that funds them? They came and built modern America seeking to blend in; to become "Americans". Groups like "the race" seek only to destroy and break it apart! And we send them our money to do it? Unbeleivable.

The Race
If Karl Rove met with La Raza, does that mean that he has The National Alliance & the Hammerskin Nation set for next week? Hey, they have concerns too. Where's the Bush Administration's sensitiviy to their needs?

Mexicans and Immigration
Personally, I am appalled at the tenor of this piece. Michelle does not like what our leadership is doing and yet she calls for nothing, no action, no suggestion of massive condemnation. She vents but she appears condescending to those conservatives that have accepted and been basted to the bone with Political Correctness. She is passionate and she has "core values", nevertheless, she is tempered by her own history. Michelle is a recent product of immigration, though legal.
Immigration laws need to be changed and changed now. Some of us are reluctant to say that aloud because we are wrapped in the idea we are descendants of immigrants. That gives us some measure of guilt in the suggestion of change. My view on that issue is different. My relatives were immigrants many generations ago, they came with nothing to a new land. The new land had nothing to offer except promise, acute uncertainty, and danger. They worked hard to develop it into something special.. From nothing to something-and now everybody wants some of the something. We do not have to open our borders and let everybody sup at our trough anymore than I have to let a leach suck my blood because the leach thinks it is a good idea. No! We and our ancestors built the trough; it is ours. Part of what we built was our unique culture with all of its concomitant values based on a system permeated with the unalienable idea our rights were and are derived from GOD. We speak a common language, stand under our National flag, trust in a common God, and raise our children to be good citizens. Diversity and multiculturalism used as the excuse to dilute our values is as destructive to us as a terminal disease. Our problem is in Washington where we place our elected Representatives to do what we want them to do. They don't hear our rage, we don't adequately project it, because we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and we couch our criticisms between and behind a bed of Politically Correct caveats. Caveats are just excuses to "get along". We need to march en-mass and armed on Washington. Thomas Jefferson counseled," When Government fails the people, they have every right to revolt". I would add the phrase "and are obliged".

Bush should be ashamed
But on this issue he has none! Why are we being forced to support schools that are clearly seperationist and leaning towards anti-Americanism? President Bush (rightly IMHO) will not speak at the NAACP conventions because of the positions and statements that have made attacking him, but he sends Karl Rove to pander to a bunch of illegal alien supporting, seperatist, anti-American leftists! Would he also go pander to a Nation of Islam school that teaches that blacks and whites need to have seperate nations, or to a school set up by the Aryan Nations...all three schools are teaching the same hate filled lessons, simply from different racial perspectives! But what else can you expect from a President that pledges to create a 'mutual defense perimeter' along with Canada and Mexico that would basically throw open our borders? For shame, for shame!

The Race Schools
I believe that Bill O'Reily has reported on one of the schools in Los Angeles that you mentioned. It's another feeble effort to install pride and awareness in a minority group (which is good) but racial hatred always seems to get caught up in the mix and dominates. Thank you for reporting this Michelle. You're more sensible than Coulter and have a better writing style.

Thanks again.

No more compassionate conservatives
Lets see, he let Ted Kennedy write the education bill, spending like a liberal, not enforsing the border, advocating comprehensive reform (amnesty). Any more conservatives like this and we will be nominating Hillary as a republican.

Promote the USA
It is disappointing that it this age we still have orginizations that are race based. Many that have existed for decades should have already evaporated and yet new ones continue to crop up like weeds.

All race based orginizations should be rejected.

Let's do what's RIGHT for the United States. That's why we have a constitution. Be independent and self-reliant. Stop the special class/group discrimination and intimidation of the rest of us. Quit hiding behind your many flags and banners.

I'll stand behind only one flag, The Stars and Stripes, and the nation it represents. Any takers?!

GEM

Thank you, Michelle
We can always count on Michelle for facts and information, along with her opinions and commentary. Some columnists lean heavily on the opinion and comment, providing fewer facts, but Ms. Malkin's writing is always content rich.
Warriors sophomoric comment demanding that she provide leadership as well (do you want a 1., 2., 3. instruction book or what?)is distracting from her message. Townhall is constantly providing leadership information about actions that we can take with the info we're provided.
The reference to Michelle being product of recent immigration, along with the rest of your regurgitated cliche-ridden rant, simply reveals your low-minded attitude and (I would wager) your
own failure to contribute substantially to our wonderful "trough" as you so inelegantly put it.

Thanks Michelle..
for your effort and hard work in investigating and exposing this for all to see. I'm sure most of the general public had no idea that millions of our tax dollars were being used for this. In effect, our government is taking our tax money (stealing) without our permission or knowledge. And using our own money to undermine our sovereignty.

I can't help but wonder how long the American people will take this crap before we rise up and storm the White House in armed protest!

For Warrior:
Though I agree with the crux of your comments. You are completely wrong in "attacking the messenger!" Michelle accomplishes more in one column than you or I do in one year! What is it you want of her? She's doing all she can to bring truth to the American citizen. And her voice reaches millions! Do you expect her to carry your flag, and do your marching for you? And why do you feel that you need to bring up her immigration status? We all have read her biography. Was this an attempt to make yourself look better than she? If so, you failed miserably!

Where's Homeland Security when needed?
I find it hard to believe that organizations like the one Michelle has described (as well as MECHA) haven't been declared terrorist organizations and hunted down.

Personally, if having a large, vocal separatist organization within the borders of the US doesn't constitute a major threat to national security, I don't know what does.

I better go clean my rifle; we may be at war on our own soil sooner than I feared.

Mexican Madrassas
I used to wonder where they were finding so many suicide bombers, but then realized they were being brainwashed from the get-go. When are Americans going to wake up to understand this anti-American venom is being inculcated in our children too (and at taxpayer expense, adding insult to injury). What happened to being an American; and when did it become acceptable not to be? Michelle Malkin is the poster-child of what an American really looks like.

Republicans will pay in the short term
for this support of racism. It is incomprehensible for them to do this. and they don't get any credit for their efforts from the socialists/leftists. Sad!

I have a "La Raza" school in my hood2
I live in LA, we have a "La Raza" school in our neighborhood, it's not on your list, it is also "all Latino" (like 100%-no diversity, no accountability, no troublesome English speaking parents) and aside from not teaching the students reading, writing, math & American history they offer a cornucopia of services & benefits including employment counseling, healthcare, subsidized housing etc etc etc...all at the tax payer's expense.

It's a charter school exempt from standardized tests too.

Its called the "New Academy of Canoga Park", I think they've blown well over $50 million bucks on this 300 kid elementary school for illegal alien kids-future drop out commie revolutionaries.

Zero accountability too.

Mexican Schools
After reading all the answers to Michell's column, I say we should impeach Bush. He's no republican he acks more like a Democrate.

Another outstanding article, M&M
Thanks again, Michelle, for staying vigilant on illegal immigration, anti-Americanism and non-stop Bush stupidity - when do you have time to sleep!

I'm proud to call you an American.

Maraming salamat po! (yes, I miss the PI)

Most Mexican Immigrants Are Burdensome
Congratulations Ms. Malkin for research that presents another aspect of the depth of the Bush administration’s perfidy in joining the Senate Democrats and their corporate and foundation backers in selling the country down the river. These co-conspirators are directly attacking the middle and upper class Americans, who pay virtually all of the income and property taxes, under cover of compassion.
Each immigrant family, likely some 90%, that pays neither income nor property taxes, and in some cases, likely 25%, not even payroll taxes, burdens Americans with $10,000 per year per child in school costs. Further, as they approach one-third the student population of a school, the academic performance of all students fall. This forces the middle class to move to a still middle class school district at great expense, or else to send their kids to private school at still greater expense-an average tuition cost of $9,000 a student.
The Social Security costs of immigrants is likewise enormous. Many are injured on the job and permanently disabled because of sociopath employers who take risks with other people’s health and lives. Family member who never paid a cent of Social Security receive benefits.
Lastly, most immigrants will qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which pays them up to near $5,000 cash just for working here at low wages.
Our public schools see no need to educate ordinary Americans much less immigrants. Already 38% of school age children are in private schools: 20% in religious schools, 8% each in home and secular schools. And those the families of these children pay taxes, they get no benefit for schools costs from them. The money that should have gone to support the education of their own children instead goes to support the malediction of the immigrant children.
As Mexican immigration continues to mount - under the Senate Bill, to at least 55 million by 2020, the entire three-fifths of the present population will be in private schools. Public schools will be reserved for he immigrant children and the poor whites who cannot afford private schooling. Of course, home schooling is open to all, but you need time, energy, and confidence for that.
The jobs in the trades will increasingly be foreclosed to ordinary Americans as the immigrants go to trade schools and learn the work of electricians, carpenters, plumbers, auto mechanics, and some technical work. Already few Americans are preparing themselves for work in engineering, science, math, computers, and the like because of the likelihood of a short, low paying, insecure career.
I just bought a new Toyota. Every one of the 5 salesmen I dealt with were foreigners. Only the finance man and the head of the maintenance repair shop were American. However, these men were high earner and the kind of people we ought to encourage as immigrants. While these hungry, smart, very hard working immigrants did take American jobs, it is obvious their sons and daughters will be very desirable, high-tax-paying citizens and not a burden.

Don't Paint Us With The Same Brush!!
I am surprised that you, Michelle, as an Asian would be so quick to paint all Latinos with the same brush. Just like white people do, you seem to think all Latinos are Mexican/Chicano. I am a New Yorker of Puerto Rican heritage. Not only does the National Council of La Raza not represent my ethnic group, but ask most Puerto Ricans in New York, and they have most likely never heard of this whacko separatist organization.

Just to set you straight, Michelle, my ancestors were not Aztecs. They were Tainos, West Africans, Spaniards and Corsicans.

Continuing to depict Latinos as a homogenous group whose members all think and act alike is idiotic on your part. Take a look at one of the newest columns which show how more Latinos are losing faith in the Democrats and sding with the Bush Administration on many issues.

Caribbean Latinos (Cubans, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans) do not shout La Raza! the way I see militant Chicanos doing so often. If anything shouting La Raza! sounds very Nazi-ish and that separatist b.s. they put out only produced more parallels between those who say la raza and those who say sieg heil.

In fact, my ethnic group (Caribbean Latinos) is very different from that of Mexicans or Chicanos or Central Americans. Our culture has more in common with other Caribbean peoples, i.e. Jamaicans, Haitians, Guyanese, etc.

The Council on La Raza does not fight for the interests of my ethnic group. Why are the feds paying for segragated schools? I thought these types of schools were banned in the 60s.

You also said that Latino activists see the U.S. Southwest is their homeland. Again you regard all Latinos to be Mexican. My ancestors came from many places, and Arizona was not one of those places. Puerto Ricans are not looking to "take back" the American Southwest and reclaim it for Mexico. Puerto Ricans couldn't care less what happens to Mexico.

I don't know what part of Asia you are from, but I'm sure you don't like it when non-Asians mistake you for an ethnic group or nationality you are not. Well, I am just as displeased with your ignorance.

Stop being stupid and say Chicanos when you refer to any moron who fights for the rights of the Aztec culture, who thinks California is their ancestral homeland, or someone who shouts La Raza or makes any mention to la raza. To your credit, I am glad you didn't refer to the Mexican flag as the Latino flag, or Dia de los Muertos as a Latino holiday.

Despite your ignorance of Latinos, I must say that this article, like everything else your write, is well-thought out and always truthful.

i don't understand the difference...
what is the difference
Radical Moslem schools who teach hatred of the USA
and La Raza /Mexican Movement schools who
teach hatred of USA.
Teaching hatred creates violence.
