Terminating the Terminator

Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Californians said "no" loud and clear; "no" to new taxes, "no" to the Terminator, and "no" to Gen. Colin Powell, who said that Americans simply lust after paying new taxes to finance their pet government programs.

"The hell we do," the majority of tax-weary Californians replied at the ballot box.

Last night, Californians who voted blue last November voted red.

The referendum gave Californians a chance to let lawmakers know what they thought of their performance and to decide a course of action for the state that would have prevailed far into the future.

They told them in no uncertain terms.

Recommending a "no" vote, the Visalia Times-Delta noted that "the measures are fundamentally dishonest, fail to address the long-term problems in California's budget structure and ask voters to validate actions taken by the governor and lawmakers in which they shirked their responsibilities."

They added that the state's leaders "refuse to compromise on a realistic budget agreement and take the steps that would create sound financial planning. Instead, they have delayed with a series of false measures and accounting tricks. Now they are asking the state's voters to go along with their con job.

"We refuse to become the dupes of state leaders who abdicate their leadership. We're aware that if the propositions do not pass, widespread hardship will take place in California. Maybe that will finally compel our leaders to action."

The voters heard them.

Not a single county in the entire state voted for the tax-and-spend propositions on yesterday's referendum ballot, not even the peculiar folks who live in Nancy Pelosi's far-left 8th Congressional District who persist in sending the Wicked Witch of the West to the Nation's Capitol to wage war on the CIA and the nation's taxpayers.

The only measure voters did approve was one to freeze salaries of senior public officials during budget emergencies.

You can't blame everything that's gone wrong on Gov. Schwarzenegger -- much of the blame lies with the state's demented state legislature and also on the shoulders of California voters who approved such dubious programs as the $3 billion effort to enable the state to somehow fight global warming, which appears to have stopped on its own 10 years ago without any help from California taxpayers.

Californians have been electing big-spending ultra-liberals to the state legislature for a long time, and any alert observer could not help being scared to death over the way the folks in Sacramento were spending money as if tomorrow would never come.

Well tomorrow's here and it's time to pay the piper for the siren song of spend-and-elect; he's been playing for a long time.

As for Arnold Schwarzenegger, it must be said that the man Californians elected to terminate the Democratic Party's march towards bankruptcy led by then-Gov. Gray Davis soon began to capitulate to the state's delusion that spending the taxpayer's money with reckless abandon is a dandy way to reach Utopia.

I can't say he didn't try. Faced, however, with a hostile legislature and an electorate that saw the state's government as a never-ending source of benefits, he was fighting a half-hearted battle he couldn't win.

As a result, he turned his attention to his future prospects of becoming Greenhouse Gas Czar of the world, a job currently held by Al Gore.

The significance of the result is that in the first occasion when Americans had to vote since the November elections, Californians voted overwhelmingly on whether we should raise taxes to solve our financial problems in a recession and they decided to go red.

Acknowledging the defeat of the ballot measures, Schwarzenegger told reporters in Washington that he received the voters' message "loud and clear: an overwhelming majority of people told Sacramento, 'Go and do your work yourself, don't come to us with your problems...'"

He added: "The message was clear from the people, go all out and make those cuts and live within your means."

He should have realized that fact long ago.

About The Author

Arnold's full of ****
Does anyone believe that he won't go running to Washington to get bailout money?

Try this--
Every source on illegal immigrants and their anchor rats states that they cost the legal tax payers of the U.S. over 330 billion dollars per year. However, very few of these politicians that call themselves conservative politicians will stand up and call for the deportation of all of these parasite illegals plus placing a heavy fine and jail time for their enablers.
If nothing is done by these sell-out politicians aka punks then other states will follow mexifornia in due time. We know where the low life dimocraps stand on this.

They better not get a bailout...
...from taxpayers in other states.

It'll be an ill wind
if taxpayers in other states are forced to bail CA out. If CA voters won't bail themselves out, imagine what the vast majority of voters in other states will think about it.

We are watching the death throes of socialism. Just like in 'Atlas Shrugged', this is going to get ugly.

Thanks a lot, you idiot Leftists (regardless of party). Are you convinced yet? Or do you need another kick to the head?

He'll be back
Don't worry, it's an economic downturn, worst time to ask the frightened children to spend someone else's money, they've ben refusing the tin cuppers already, and their businesses are fleeing their tax heavy hole - and they know it...
BUT, the talking head bean counters will just wait till the upturn, and then pounce down with another set of taxes when everything is flying high - and the blind morons will okay it.
Wait and see.

OBAMANATION TURNCOAT REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR
HE WILL BE BACK IN WASHINGTON WITH HIS HAND OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN. ARNOLD IS OBAMA BEST REPUBLICAN WEAPON. THE GOVERNATOR IS SO GREEDY FOR WASHINGTON DOLLARS WHETHER STIMULUS PACKAGES OR WHATEVER FORM OBAMA WANTS TO SEND HIS WAY HE IS GREATFUL FOR THE OPPRESSION HE GETS TO PLACE ON THE RESIDENTS OF HIS STATE. OBAMA LOVES TO FINANCE OPPRESSION FROM EITHER PARTY.

GOP saviour
The Governator was the GOP saviour. That didn't really work out. Since the GOP is going extreme right wing, there will be no saviour.

Obama Nails the Coffin Shut
Eric Peters has a must read and share article over at American Spectator:

Reagan makes this sound like a Dem-v-GOP
thing. The big problem we have is that the Dems and the GOP are in agreement on spending like crazy. The limited government principles of Michael's father were never accepted by the GOP elite, and we've seen the consequences over the last 8 years.

Michael writes "Last night, Californians who voted blue last November voted red."

Again, when the so-called "red" party spent the last eight years spending like crazy and passing trillion dollar bailout bills, they have no leg to stand on. Looks to me like Californians - God bless them - rejected the big-government ways of both parties.

We need another leader capable of wrenching control of the GOP away from the blue-blood elites so we have a party of limited government for which to vote. Otherwise, I'm going to continue registering my protest by voting for limited-government third parties.

But not the young GOP
Two first-term GOP House members have even had the guts to sponsor a bill calling for the illegal King Elect's birth certificate.

GOP only went a little overboard with Bush as pres., but the deficits and spending they did is a trifle compared to the Big O.

The Reps. should never have invented the No Child Left krap or given Medicare the prescription boondoggle, both costing a fortune and the first not improving the unimprovable pub. ed. system at all.

But that doesn't mean they can't be fiscally responsible again. Reps. gave Clinton the surpus he always brags was his legacy. They sure are more fiscally responsible than any of the Dems. on a clear day in December.

Note from ground zero
I'm glad Tuesday's ballot measures went the way they did. However, the low voter turnout leads me to doubt that many Californians are actually clued in to what is happening politically. Federal bail-out dollars will likely be obtained to enable us to continue our fiscally and socially irresponsible behaviors and effectively insulate us from experiencing the normal, cause-and-effect consequences of them - for a time. When the inevitable crash does come, however, I can imagine a majority of people squealing for help from the usual tax-and-spend politicians we elect. The politicians will then try to figure out further fiscal scams designed to placate the masses.

Colin Powell - Wrong Again.

On every important issue from the start of Colin Powell's rise to fame, he has been wrong.

Wrong on the Lt.Cali incident in Viet Nam.

Wrong on advise to Ronald Reagan in Lebanon.

Wrong on Advise to Bush 41 in not destroying the Republican Guard in the first Gulf War.

Wrong on advise to Clinton on Taliban.

Wrong on 2nd Powell Doctrine. "You broke it, you fix it." (That is why we are in Iraq today.)

Now hes wrong on Americans wanting more taxes, more federal programs, more federal spending.

Like Arlen Specter, He now embraces the Democrats after having done his damage in the GOP.

Pelosi and the Witch?
Lay off the Wicked Witch of the West! The WW of the West was an evil, cruel and ugly megalomaniac, so I can understand the confusion. However Michael should realize that there is one glaring difference; WW of the West was not stupid. Therein lays the dissimilarity. Well that and the WW of the West had really cute flying monkeys to do her bidding, while Pelosi has to settle for the truly ugly likes of Harry Reid, Barney Frank, and screeching shrews like Maxine Waters. I’d rather deal with the monkeys.

I wonder what would happen if someone threw water on Pelosi like Dorothy did to the witch in the movie. Would she melt or simply float in it like fecal matter? I suspect the latter; after all Washington DC is overrun with feces from both political parties. A good enema is what DC needs today.

"Terminating the Terminator"
My hats off to Michael Reagan for his article about California's brain dead Governor and the heartless legislators who are the worst group of dis-spicable louses to ever chair in Sacramento. They nothing but a bunch of crooks,
Wait a minute, aren't crooks put in jail? If they release a bunch of inmates from prison, wouldn't leave enough room to put these hyenas where they belong?
This way , "We the People" re-elect some intelligent State Leaders?

Powell, the Wind Sniffer
Let's buy a ticket for Colin Powell to go to California and find the people who are willing to pay more taxes for more services. The man is a complete fraud who betrayed the Party which made him famous because he knew had to vote for a fellow black or lose cred with the ghetto. That's racism for you!

This man is a typical Washington bureaucrat with his finger raised to determine which way the wind is blowing, no more, no less.

13Bravo
Didn't you know? The Wicked Witch of the West is merely a misunderstood soul. Having been born a hideous beast, she was driven to evil by the cruel forces of humanity. Have you no feelings?

calif, lost in socialism
calif only proves what happens when leftists take control of the purse strings and voters use the initiative to vote for costly wastes of plans to fun d worthless programs.

And now the billions that calif spends every year to reward illegals for breaking our laws and the billions spent to reward parasites taking advantage of the welfare system has driven the cost of running the state to the point where losers are more important and demand more than lawful citizens who foot the bill run up by an out of control state gov't and their spending habits

The idea that dim compassion demands taking taxpayer dollars to reward bad behavior needs to come to an end.

Plus how many unionized state employees does calif require. Strange how private business can lay off employees in economic downturns but unionized state employees are not only guaranteed jobs buy pay raises when the state runs budget deficits.

The calif legislature voted itself 2 pay raises last year. This alone should move calif voters to remove from office the highly paid parasites who are making more than $100,000. just to spend the state into insolvancy

Calif has dug itself into a hole and the voters need to take charge of their state, remove the spenders and replace them with others who pledge to live within the declining budgets they will face due to the economic turndown and businesses and other tax payers fleeing the state.

The time for a free lunch for the parasites is long past

Michael
I was hoping, in memory of your dad, you might speak up and condemn the rightwing fixation on torture. Ronald Reagan had his Attorney General go after waterboarders and even went as far to have the US join other nations in a special condemnation of torture, beyond the Geneva Convention and our US laws.

So-called torture
To Michael: the ones fixated on torture are those on the Left. There is no fixation on torture by right-wingers. There is a fixation on preventing another 9/11. There is a fixation on using any methods necessary to protect your sorry rear.

The Problem With Socialism……

is eventually you run out of other people’s money. Golden opportunity here for the GOP to grow some stones and organize a national resistance to BHO’s inevitable plan to place California’s crushing debt burden on the back of American taxpayer. Yeah, that’ll be the day.

Acknowledgement’s to

On the Governator
The Governator knew that he was facing a leftwing legislature when he ran to replace Gray Davis in the first place, so acting like he had no choice to cave is disingenuous at best. Arnold had the name, the fame, and the bully pulpit to take a case to the public for fiscal responsibility and restraint. Instead he acted as if spending copious amounts of money wasn't a bad thing...just the HE would spend it better than Davis did. Does that attitude not remind anyone of the GOP mindset ovet the last 5-7 years? And Arnold and his liberal cohorts were rejected after playing the economic fear card, just as the GOP was rejected in 2006 and 2008. The Governator is not without blame here, because instead of standing up for his previously avowed principles and taking the case to the public, he immediately caved in to the siren song of spending.

Thanks to waterboarding, an attack on Los Angeles was averted. How many limo liberals do you think are thankful to the Bush administration for saving their bacon?

Step two
Dissolution of the state legislature and have only a part time government.

Michael Reagan insulting his dad
President Ronald Reagan was absolutely not an Imperialist, while Michael has no problem with it! Enough said, to set the stage for a little more!

Yes, while George W., Michael admires, handed to Obama an America, even in worse shape than Caifornia istelf. Yes, this same holy man for Michael, ended his presidency by saying: I sacrificed my free market principles to save the economy from collapsing.

No greater idiocy ever spoken, while George W's, so called free market principles were sending America to the bottom of the Ocean, so to speak, and adding insult to injury, by handing out so called stimilus checks.

Yes, Michael said some terrible things over his radio program, about those of us, who supported Ron Paul. Yes, Michael is disgracing his own Father the more he speaks and writes.

For those Americans born in America, if they know who they were, did Ron Paul not speak the language of the Founding Fathers, may I ask? I did, as only a legal immigrant of 53+ years! So, I voted for him here in the very now damned California as a write in Candidate.

I firmly believe that the Founding Fathers, were they to rise and start speaking up, an within the present mess America has gotten itself into, these men would be immediately arrested and send to Guantanamo, and considered dangerous!

Just one quote from George Washington is enough to support my comment: "Overgrown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to Republican liberty".

Maybe I have room for one more him: "No pecuniary consideration is more urgent than the regular redemption and discharge of the public debt: on none can delay be more injurious or an economy of time more valuable".

You give voters too much credit
We are the ones to blame for who we vote for. Yeah, we picked up a small victory a few days ago but let's see how many incombents are re-elected next November. That will tell you all you need to know about us.

California votes NO!
So do I. A tax revolt in 1978 resulted in the passage of Proposition 13 which reduced local property taxes by 57% and thereby destroyed the revenue base for local governments and schools. Since then revenue loss has been made up by new revenue from specialized local fees and taxes, as well as by outright local budget cuts.

In November 1979 California voters passed Proposition 4 which imposed a limit on tax supported government expenditures. The limit is calculated annually with a formula based on population and cost of living. Excess revenues must be returned to the taxpayers. The limit was not exceeded until the 1986-87 fiscal year when $1.1 billion was refunded to taxpayers.

I left California in 1979 because the prospect of living in a state where tax revenues were limited without corresponding cuts in entitlements was not appealing.

Remember that immigration is a "Federal" issue and that when San Diego made a valiant attempt to round up a few "visitors", the Bush Administration jumped all over them so the Feds share some of California's woes.

California MUST NOT be bailed out with taxpayer money from the other 49 states. (insert sarcasm) Maybe some of the high priced entertainment personalities or sports figures who live or perform there will help out. Better yet they could call George Soros.

horse whipping
perhaps if the government of cali dose not respond to the peoples wishes then the people should rise up take them from office and horse whip them in public???

daft the retard
why are you crying about torture. You fully engage in it daily.

You torture your mind with problems and causes you cannot comprehend. Then you show up to torture us with you blatant and never ending ignorance and delusion.

I suggest you stick with the one thin g that won't tax you rather limited mentality and give you comfort and ease and peace of mind.

Continue providing relief to your messiah ala monica. That way you can keep the messiah cooled down and provide a public service for the trolls who are worried he is has to actually answer a question without his teleprompter.

Then your only worry is a cut lip when he pulls up his zipper

H. D. - all you need to know about W's
"so called free market principles" is what he said while promoting the socialist bailout last year:

"I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system to make sure the economy doesn't collapse."

"I feel a sense of obligation to my successor to make sure there is not a, you know, a huge economic crisis. Look, we're in a crisis now. I mean, this is -- we're in a huge recession, but I don't want to make it even worse."

chris, H.D. will never get it
leftists aren't bright enough or they are paid to ignore facts and logic. They are on a continuous loop, replaying the same tired and wrong talking points as if they were so smart. Simply flag their nonsense as offensive (it offends my intelligence that they are allowed to breed) and move on. You can't teach a rock anything.

My only fixation with enhanced interrogation (gee political correctness is GRAND) is that is remains a viable tool that is to be used in extreme circumstances when the public may be at risk.

So....you would rather be living at ground Zero in CA than taking one man down??

Observation
"Recommending a "no" vote, the Visalia Times-Delta noted that "the measures are fundamentally dishonest, fail to address the long-term problems in California's budget structure and ask voters to validate actions taken by the governor and lawmakers in which they shirked their responsibilities."

That, in a nutshell, is precisely the problem also. California has had one special election after another using trickery at the ballot box. People are fed up. that is why, despite the low turnout, the measures failed, and it also is why we had low turnout in the first place. Californians now have a 'why bother' mentality.

Things do need to change and fast
Forget about Obama and his f'ed up Utopian Dreams. California is what could happen to the rest of this country if Liberal Progressives get their way. Liberals have so F'ed up California, its no wonder why People (Tax payers) have been fleeing this state in huge numbers for the past decade. With the lost Tax revenue from these people that have left the state, what is the Liberal Progressive solution? Raise the tax rate and drive more people (tax payers) out of the State. That's Brilliant, just F'ing Brilliant, but hey that's Liberal Progressive logical...

H.D.

If you think Ron Paul speaks the language of the FF then you need to go back to school.

I once respected Gen. Colin Powell
But unfortunately Gen. Powell has been deceiving people for a long time, like Arlan Specter(D)PA. These people were never really Republicans in the true sense.

Migration?
Population Swap:
Americans flow from Blue States to Red.
Citizens of a foreign country flow from Mexico to Blue states.

Take your one-trick pony act back to that circus at HuffPo or Daily Kos. This article is about California's fiscal comeuppance--or did you bother to read it before posting your torture rant?

Powell
The affirmative action general

Colin vs.Arnold
Usefulidiots: Some say Colin was an affirmative action General. Anybody know if this is right? The way he turncoated his party may suggest this is true. What invasion did he lead in Iraq or Viet Nam?
I would have thought better of him, but I've been wrong before (at least once) just kidding.
Seems California has some traits like South Carolina. Our voters can't seem to bring theselves to vote out the AntiConstitution crowd here either. We through some accident though got a Governor who is a fighter for the right.
Maybe there's hope for California too. Maybe Arnold the Terminator, if he doesn't see the handwriting on the wall will be the terminated.

darrell
it would seem that colon powell claimed to be a repub only to further his own career.

And when p ush came to shove, he did like 96 % of blacks did in the last election. He voted race over qualifications.

But just as he used the repubs to advance his career, he thought siding with the messiah would open new career choices.

But how typical of rino's to think because they stand for nothing and believe in only advancing themselves, they have the right to lecture the rest of us on how we are wrong and they have the answers on what wrong with repubs.

Better powell and ahnold join specter and go where they will be amongst those who share their beliefs

*******************************************

I’m so ashamed. You are right and I am an insensitive beast. We need legislation to help pay for programs to aid in the reform of wicked witches. Next we should immediately begin to pay them reparations for our past misdeeds. You have to admit that I did come to the Wicked Witch of the West’s defense; she was smarter than Pelosi.

One thing we could do is to set up midnight quidditch leagues for young witches before they fall in with the wicked crowd. Maybe we could help them to create some sort of advocacy organization to fight for their rights. It could be named the American Witches Organization for the Rights of NAGS or AWORN. Their slogan could be “Strange We Can Believe In.” Or it could be “Once You Burned Us at the Stake; Now You Owe Us A Stake.”

Let’s work together to correct the wrongs of the past. Remember since people who looked like you once persecuted witches centuries ago, you owe their descendants and anyone who looks like them everything you own.

What makes you think HD is a leftist?

2. Please don't flag the posts of those you disagree with. If ever used, flagging should be reserved for excessive vulgarity - not views with which you disagree. Silencing opposing views is not in the nature of a true conservative.

Lolo1, who do you think best promotes the vision of the Founding Fathers?

I was not a Paulista because I believe we need a stronger defense - but Ron Paul had almost everything else right. He was the only major party candidate that takes the constitutional limits on the federal government seriously - as written.

Both major parties have colluded to stretch the so-called elastic "general welfare" clause to the breaking point, and Paul was the only one calling for a return to the vision of the Founding Fathers.
