Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

On his way to board Marine One, my father, Ronald Reagan, had a book tucked under his arm. A reporter shouted a question about the book, asking what it was about.

My dad held the book up and said it was a brand new book by a brand new author named Tom Clancy, was published by the Naval Institute Press, and was titled "The Hunt for Red October." He described it as being a book about the superiority of the United States Navy and how it was used in behalf of freedom.

Thanks to the publicity he gave the book it shot up to the top of the best-seller list, made Tom Clancy famous, and set off his career as a top author who would go on to write numerous best sellers about the power of the U.S. military as a force for individual rights and freedom.

Compare that with Barack Obama's reaction to being given an anti-American book by a foreign dictator.

The other day, Barack Obama allowed himself to be used for propaganda purposes when Venezuela's dictator Hugo Chavez suddenly arose from his chair at the Union of South American Nations meeting, approached President Obama, shoved a book at him, shook hands with him and went back to his place at the table.

The book, published in 1971, is a vicious attack on the United States, blaming the U.S. for just about everything that has ever gone wrong in the Southern Hemisphere. Instead of tossing this anti-American screed on the table to show his contempt for Chavez's crude propaganda ploy and the book itself, Obama simply sat down after shaking hands with the dictator.

Thanks to Obama having allowed Chavez to use him as a propaganda tool, the 39-year-old book shot up to the number-two spot on The New York Times best-seller list.

Anyone who saw videos of this farce had to wonder just how Chavez was able to approach the president without being prevented from getting anywhere near him. If you or I tried it we would have been suddenly surrounded by Secret Service agents and hauled away. We would never have gotten within 10 feet of him. Yet Chavez simply got up and strolled, unimpeded, towards the mysteriously unguarded president of the United States.

Remember the shoe-thrower incident and how quickly the Secret Service reacted?

Something smells here and you should be forgiven if you decide that it was a pre-planned, set-up job arranged beforehand.

Consider what followed. In the presence of the president of the United States, Nicaragua's communist President Daniel Ortega launched a 50-minute diatribe attacking the United States.

Did Barack Obama return the compliment by defending the United States? Hell, no. Instead, he made a joke about the length of Ortega's speech, which he allowed to go unchallenged and unanswered.

It is becoming obvious that above all else, Barack Obama wants to be loved and admired, and he thinks the way to achieve affection is to act like a patsy instead of as the leader of the world's wealthiest and most powerful nation, dedicated to individual freedom.

Instead of reassuring those people being ground under the heel of despotic regimes that the United States stands with them and will refuse to bow and scrape before their oppressors, he plays kissy face with the worst of them.

Apologizing is not a sane foreign policy. It is the foreign policy of a weakling. And it didn't work in Europe where the people listened to him begging forgiveness and shook their heads in wonder.

Contrast his behavior outside the United States with that here at home. The namby-pamby, apologetic Barack Obama seen outside the U.S. disappears here at home, where his administration shows signs of employing the Gestapo-like tactics of foreign despots such as singling out patriotic Americans for opposing baby-killing and out-of-control borrowing and spending, and terming them "extremists" who are endangering our homeland security.

This is getting scary.

FOOLISHNESS AND DANGER
On the streets and in the hills
a man percieved as weak is not respected.

In the castles and mansions of the great, fools bow and scrape before Power.

In America, we eat wimps alive. Hollywood ejects them like spittle.

Yet,

Obama can pass.

THIS IS DANGEROUS--MAYBE WE DO DESERVE TO LOSE OUR LIBERTY.

ROWDY BOOTS

What a Tool
"Thanks to Obama having allowed Chavez to use him as a propaganda tool..."
I always knew Obama was a tool, just didn't know what kind! Thanks Mike.

"This is getting scary"
Says Michael

Its like waking up and finding a burglar in the house

I feel as if I seen a burglar breaking into the house and screamed for everyone to wake up, and they slept on.
(figurative everyone)

I am always awed at how accurate the bible is:

2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, ...
... trucebreakers,....

4 Traitors, heady, highminded,....

Perfect description of what I see in obama.

This guy brings peril, and encourages it.

The intellectual power, through words and things,
Went sounding on, a dim and perilous way!

William Wordsworth

Wow
It makes you wish for the Jimmy Carter days. Even he wasn't this incompetent.

Dear Mr. Reagan:
Chavaz is, himself, technically a world leader. I don't see anything fishy in his being allowed to approach Obama. Maybe Obama took the book to be polite, the same reason your father, of blessed memory, went to Butburg.

Dear Rowdy:
Even if we deserve to lose our liberty, our children and grandchildren don't.

True Strength
Mr. Reagan you like so many other conservatives confuse true strength with saber rattling. None of the leaders at these confrences doubt our military strength. What many of these keaders doubt is our commitment to listen to their greivances, whether real or imagined, and to take those greivances seriously. Like most conservatives you like to shoot your mouth off first and think later, unless of course your Rush in which case you shoot your mouth off and never think.

Who is Pulling the strings?
President Obama is a puppet. Which is okay alot of presidents and congress people are. They are beholden to their support (money supply) What would be interesting is who are the manipulators.

Pride in America
It's not that President Obama went to the conference, nor that he sat through the anti-american diatribe, nor even that he shook hands with a two bit dictator. No it's that he said nothing of the greatness of America, our values, our sacrifices, our successes. He appologizes and humbles himself before those that publicly denegrate us as a country and then acts as if he is ashamed of what we stand for and forgets all that we have accomplished. Any compliments he has for America are always filled with caveats and it seems as if the only thing America, as a country, has ever done right was to elect him. He did not need to publically humiliate Chavez or Ortega by chastising them for their behavior nor did he have to a reply in kind to their hatred of America and capitalism. He only had to point out what great things America has done (free trade, fighting drugs and terrorism, charity for the hungry and homeless) and will do throughout the region. Just take pride in the United States of America Pesident Obama, is that too much to ask for?

Tom Clancy

I got the chance to meet Tom Clancy when he toured the flight deck of the Aicraft Carrier USS Nimitz. He was a complete egotistical horses-arse. I haven't read a book of his since.

A Lamb Among Jackals?
I know he was just a movie star but John Wayne said something in one of his many movies that Barack Obama should pay attention to. He said, "Don't apologize, Mister. It's a sign of weakness."

The jackals of the world, Chavez, Castro, and Putin, exactly view Obama's apologetic world tour in that light.

Here's a word of advice to the most educated, most intelligent U.S. President ever: World leaders do not give a damn about apologies: They only respect power and the willingness to use it.

Wielding power in the world of international politics is not a garden club exercise. There are wolves that will pull you down at the first sign of weakness and even your V.P. Biden knows this!

William
TRUE STRENGTH????
Please explain to us how apologizing for the U.S. and sitting mute during and after a diatribe denouncing this country shows any kind of strength on the part of this Marxist Idiot?
Would that be the strength of character that allows the leader of this country to agree with these despots that the USA is the worst country in the history of the world-full of racists and terrorists who export fear, poverty, and death throughout the world-and has never once helped or aided another country? The same strength of character that you seem to possess when it comes to your country? Look at it this way-IF you were married and had a family, and the local gangleader went around telling everyone that your family was evil and the cause of all the problems in East LA because you shopped at some local stores, would you denounce his statements and defend your family, or apologize and sing kum-by-ya with him?
I think you would definitely do the second just like your hero BO.
You and BO are sorry excuses for men, and definitely DO NOT show any pride in, or love of, this country.
Move to Venezuela and take BO with you.

"You can't fix stupid"
So we MUST vote it out in 2010. Remove EVERY incumbant. Repeal those big cushy retirement packages politicians receive for the rest of their lives regardless of how long they held office (some as few as two years). Install term limits! Then start the impeachment of Obama.

CHAVEZ'S GIFT AND CHURCHILLS BUST
What should Obama do with Chavez's gift? Click Apollospeaks for the answer.

The Mountebank
The Great Fake of the White House treats his citizens as his enemies, and his enemies as his friends.

This Muslim-In-Hiding is the most outrageous fraud ever perpetrated on the American public and he will bring down the country on top of us.

It is a pathetic thing to realize many Americans are more fearful of our own government than the multitude of threats from other quarters.

Let's just face the facts

Obama is a communist. He was trained as one. He thinks like one. His friends are communists.

Why would we think better of him?

We have let the fox into the hen house.

He will destroy America as all other communist leaders have destroyed their own countries.

We need to get rid of this guy at our first opportunity, and then pick up the remaining pieces and re-build America.

God Bless America!

Obama-Be Proud of USA!!!
I am so sick of Obama apologizing for the U.S. He needs to start being proud of the U.S. and defend this nation when foreign dictators call us evil etc. He is the appeasement President. Michael Reagan, I loved your book Twice Adopted. I was born in 1977 so while your dad was President, I was still enjoying my childhood. But, I admire Pres. Ronald Reagan because he stood up for freedom and did everything possible to protect this country from harm. He showed a love for this country that I will never forget. Please Pres. Obama I call on you to start being proud of both your nations past and advocate for the U.S.A in the present and do not apologize for a country's past that Americans have a right to be proud of.

Teresa PA Apr 23, 2009 - 8:09 AM EST

Teresa, I don't think he will do it. It is not in Obama's best interest to have a strong American republic. He has to break us down before he can re-make us into his image of a weakened and easily manipulated and controlled socialist nation.

Obama wants what Chavez has.

It's all about power and control.

What A Loser
Obama is a liberal wanna be President. He could never hold a candle to President Regan, you see that in his comments and his joking around. If the man were anything a President should be he wouldn't be out there bashing the great people who build this country everyday. I am so tired of his antics and to think we have a long time to go is just as tiring. Now I guess I am a right wing terrorist because I disagree with this loser. America has to wake up and see the real raw deal he is putting forth, c'mon if I wanted to live in Europe I would go this is stil America.

Push the fight.....
The tactics being used, by this administration, can only go so far. If they decide to push the fight, there will be a strong push back.

Honestly... how far do they think this can go?

This is not Europe......this is America.

They obviously have not come to understand that America does not pick the fight.......we end them.

Book Review
You of all people know that nothing and I mean nothing happens with the President and his entourage that is not planned before it happens. There are no coincidences in the world of the Presiden of the United States. Everything is scheduled, filmed and edited. The ultimate production.

When the cameras are rolling....
....we can sometimes see who has access to the President....In the dark, we do not know who has access to the President via his Blackberry.

BO is rubbing our noses in it....
I'm with HighlanderJuan & Flying Goat.
Get them all out of office, & soon.

BO is a narcissist & pinko follower, shepherded by MO.
Heaven help us.

Impeach Obama
Obama should be impeached for his not being willing to follow our Constitution and now caring enough to keep our Country safe. He's a disgrace -- I don't care what his color. He doesn't care about the USA -- that's enough reason he shouldn't be president. Something must be done and now!

Impeach Obama
I meant he does NOT CARE about the USA!

The amazing thing is
this Anti American Zealot (Obama) still has an approval rating over - well over 50%. This - a man who should be shot for treason, is a real problem. This is why we SHOULD require REAL AMERICAN HISTORY to be taught in schools. Instead, we teach communism and anti-Americanism. Any wonder we ended up here?

President Naivete
Give this guy his due! His mission, which he has chosen to accept, is to make the US an equal among nations, having the same political horsepower as say, Belize, or some other powerhouse! Can he be doing this innocently? Can he be this unsophisticated? Can he not see how the US was the only superpower with the guts and the strength to keep this world stable? Truly he has a subset here in the US-It's called the Obamanation.

Obama has spent a million dollars
To fight against showing his credentials.

That is plenty evidence he has lied to get the Office.

This report is from the FEC, not some anti-obama "extremist".

FEC shows more than $1 million paid to top law firm since election

We have a FRAUD in the WH

Remembering Venezuela
I did a little work in Venezuela pre-Chavez, and I remember the anxiety of a lot of people down there as he won his first election, and they envisioned their freedoms and opportunities going down into the abyss -- which is exactly what has come to pass down there.

I also remember how , after the fall of the USSR, people in Eastern Europe expressed their gratitude to Pres. Reagan and others for standing as a beacon of hope during the dark times of communism.

I imagine our friends in Venezuela were looking for just such a beacon, and what they got was Obama getting b*itch-slapped by Chavez and Ortega.

Agggh!
It seems that Team Obama is conducting a mass audition for Ted Mack.

"Gosh, I apologize for being American"
This should be the title of Bambis next book. It would have great overseas sales. I lived and worked in France during the rule of "The peanut King" Jimma Cawwatta and was constantly reminded of his speaches saying "we should be ashamed of ourselves for our prosperity and what we have". The French felt sorry for me for having such a misfit, nut as POTUS. I said not to worry , things will change! I believe Reagon would have used the real power of the US against Kohmeini if the hostages were not released and Kohmeini knew it. The Dems and bambi are sowing the seeds of their demise by playing from weakness. In Veit Nam, the Korean military sectors were calm and controled becaue they were more vicious then the Viet Cong. It isn`t pretty but sooner or later Bambi will learn that nobody respects his cowardly stance. God Help America!

Obambi IS NOT POTUS
he is just a puppet who looks good on TV and speaks eloquently when hw has a teleprompter. George Soros, who bought this past election (through voter fraud perpetrated by ACORN), is POTUS. America is done for; Hello Amerika!!!

Obama's lack of finesse
The "BOYS" (especially Chavez) from South of the Border had a fun time at the recent Latin American conference, playing on our new president's naivety and inexperience for all it was worth, in their salacious attempts to downgrade the United States' esteem, and fault the leadership and trustworthiness that have previously been a glowing example for all the world to admire and respect. Chavez's bloody handshake and the book of lies he handed to Obama should have put him on notice that he was being tested and was found to be an easy target. We pray next time he will arrive at any similar meetings better prepared, and not so eager to humble himself (and all of us) for "the error of our ways." Bah, humbug.....

Nobama the Pathetic Groveler
My 12th perdiction a day after the election:
Publicly, the international community will laud the pretender for his “brilliant diplomacy”. Privately, they will gloat, laugh, and point at the gullible buffoon in the White House and the greatly reduced influence of the U.S. on the world’s stage. The bad actors will take every opportunity to ratchet up their dirty deeds at our expense, extensive loss of life included.

Welcome to the Obomination Banana Republic of these Disunited States!

In addition to my 12 predictions (ALL are on track) I posted this: Thugocracy based on the Commie Model. We the people have a lot to look forward to: 1) Ideology that is completely at odds with the intentions of the Fore Fathers, 2) Carefully concealed deployment of the socialistic agenda that will be rife with corruption and deceit, 3) The systemic dismantling of institutions, not necessarily in name but in the core reasons for their existence, so as to serve this ideology, 4) A rapid decline from super power status to a large banana-obama republic with Castro-like ideology driving its mediocre accomplishments, 5) Social upheaval with high risk for violence, 6) A stagnant economy or worse, and 7) National Security problems up the wazoo.

NICE ONE AMERICA!

agreed
"This is getting scary."

Couldn't have said it any better myself...

Conservative Rage....
So how are things going out there in the once-Golden State?

Yes one more conservative fool speaks
Yes, while Michael Reagan upholds his dad, if his own dad would rise and find much of what he started is now completely and fully destroyed he would weep bitterly.

Where were all those followers of Ronald Reagan when only in 4 years Clinton became commander in Chief? And for even Michael Reagan to have the guts, to compare George W. to his own father takes the cake.

Yes, if Ronald Reagan had been immortal and US President for life, today the world at large would be a much, much peaceful place, in as much as he soon learned that using military force in place of honorable words is no good, hence he took down the Evil Empire with words only.

America, since Ronald Reagan left, it has now come to the place whre it is completely bankrupt in just about every other endeavor of human life. Ronald Reagan was fully on his way to restore America back to the principles upon it was founded.

Obama is now President, simply because the Republican Party fully forsook Ronald Reagan no sooner he left office. Yes, Ron Paul, was in my book actually once again presented to America, especially the Republican Party, by Almighty God, just like he did with the Founding Fathers of this Nation, to restore firstly all Ronald Reagan built and than go on for more until America is again the hopes and dreams of the original Founding Fathers.

I am at peace with myself that within the spirit that of Ronald Reagan and that of the Founding Fathers, that I cast my vote for Ron Paul, here in California as a write-in candidate. McCain lost his credibility in full, when he berated Ron Paul, like if he had leprosy!

Well Mike
I don't think this was a setup. I believe that Hugo and the Boys fianlly have Direct TV. Unlike the American People, no one in Hugo's government controlled media was brave enough to tell Hugo and the boys they didn't see what they saw with their own two eyes. I think you got it all wrong Mike, the President is openly practicing his faith "Black Liberation Theology". The same faith practiced by Hugo and the boys. They just don't call it black.

Conservative Rage is so Cute!
You sound like a little kid in the sand box, It's mine, it's mine, when you take a toy away from a little girl.
But just like your leader, you like to hit us all over the head with I won! I won! I Won! Okay we get it, you won?!?!?!

Now fix the problem and not make it worse

Silent No More
July 4 th. surround the capitals! Stop the spending and don't let green be the new red ink.

GET REAL!
Have you ever heard the saying that if you have nothing good to say, simply say nothing? How many of our carrier groups sank as a result of Chavez's shaking President Obama's hand? How many divisions of the armed forces raised a white flag because Obama took a book? Probably as many as happened when a smiling Nixon shook Mao's hand or when our President gave a gift to Breshnev!!!!! Since you have nothing to offer all you can do is try to raise MASS HYSTERIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try keeping silent until you have something to offer which is not beneath you!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess Who
This is a lift from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual used by mental health professionals. The standard is five or more traits for a confirming diagnosis, but extreme cases meet all or virtually all criteria. Know any extreme cases?

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

has a grandiose sense of self-importance

is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited
success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

believes that he or she is "special"

requires excessive admiration

has a sense of entitlement

is interpersonally exploitative

lacks empathy

is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her

shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

The narcissistic personality is a dangerous creature when in a powerfu political position.

"DR CHAZ"
Who are you referring to: Blogo from Chicago or perhaps Dick Cheney or Bill O'Reilly? Your posting doesn't make any sense unless you want to identify someone who you think meets the criteria!

Approaching Barack
Well, folks, the votes are in:

Set-up job - - -78%
Spontaneous gesture -14%
Flirtatious advance -8%

Obama is NOT president
I'm still waiting for that birth certificate.

I'm so proud to be an American citizen that I would happily blow up a copy of my birth certificate to poster size and send it to every news agency in the world if anyone asked for it. Why is Barkie hiding his?

I'd happily tell anyone anywhere in the world what a great country this is to live in - except that I'm afraid of what's happening under the Obamanation. Maybe this great country won't be there for my grandson. Barack Insane Obama needs to go. Now.

SORCERESS IN CA
I'm waiting for "Dr Chaz" to post the diagnostic criteria fo Paranoia so you can read about yourself. Find comfort in your delusions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paging Neville Chamberlain!
Yeah, worked well back then, too!

Also--about 'transparency': I guess we assumed that transparency referred to the inner misguided workings of government, lobbyists, campaign funds, legally establilshed oversight.

Everytime I hear the word transparency, the administration refers to a PRIVATE individual or PRIVATE industry/corporation.

(This is the third attempt as a post...hope it loads)

Our President
My response to a Peggy Noonan e mail fits with Michael's commentary on our President's activities and words (or lack thereof).

"Whether John McCain thinks waterboarding is legal or illegal, he has never been faced with decision "to do or not to do" as President of the United States, under the responsibility to all citizens, not just lawyers and extremists on either side of the political spectrum.

What scares me is that our current president is a lawyer, among other descriptions and has no experience in affairs military, terrorism or family discussions about the same."

CIC
It is astounding to me that obama was ever chosen as a candidate, let alone voted into the CIC, communist-in-chief, position. The information about him and his relations with terrorists and communists were widely publicized but even now you can't get a dem/liberal/socialist [Socialist--nice way of saying communist]to admit that what is going on in the financial arena will completely destroy America. They do not WANT to see it. I think they really do see it but dismiss it out of mind as something they do not want to contemplate. Of, course, the problem is, we will ALL suffer for this stupidity that has been thrust on us.
I truly wish we had a president.
