Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Anybody who watched Barack Obama’s sorry performance during Saturday Night’s Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency with Pastor Rick Warren had to come away with the question, “What is this guy doing running for president of the United States?”

The worshipping media described his comments as “nuanced,” the word they use to describe “wishy-washy.” It was full of those “on the other hand” answers to Pastor Warren’s probing questions.

Obama was anything but wishy-washy, however, when he said that knowing when human life begins was “above his pay grade.” He was just plain evasive, obviously seeking to play down his extremist view that abortion at any time, in any circumstance, is perfectly acceptable to him.

This isn’t surprising since he took the lead in the Illinois Senate in fighting a bill that would outlaw the barbarous murder of newborn infants who survive being killed in a partial-birth abortion.

During the forum, his struggle to please everybody by straddling the issues was plain for all to see. He showed he was willing to say and do what he believed everybody wanted to hear. When you try to find any real depth in his beliefs you quickly discover he is utterly shallow and soulless, a sloganeer instead of a missionary.

He’s just a politician on the make, trying to be all things to all people -- an empty suit proclaiming empty promises.

Being without real depth, his platform merely floats on a surface of promises categorized as “Hope” and “Change,” neither of which is clearly defined.

He assures us that he wants to change Washington and sweep away all that this city represents. Yet one has only to look at next week’s Democratic National Convention to understand that it’s not change, but lots more of the same.

Just look at the roster of speakers lined up and try to find a single new face. It’s the same old lineup, the same old roll call of familiar Democrat politicians who have constituted the leadership of the national Democratic Party for eons.

Change? Does inviting Jimmy Carter (arguably the worst president in our long history and a dedicated foe of Israel) constitute meaningful change?

Is John Kerry a new face, or simply a retread of a failed presidential candidate who represents his party’s recent past as well as its immediate future?

How about putting Al Gore on the speaker’s dais? Al Gore, the high priest of the phony climate-change religion who to this day can’t accept the fact that he lost to George Bush in 2000 and never stops whining about it. That’s change?

Just what changes the old Democratic order when you have Bill Clinton speaking one night and Hillary Clinton the next night?

Is Mayor Daley, Obama’s strongest backer and the boss of the corrupt Chicago Democratic machine, a symbol of change?

You look at this upcoming convention and you have to ask yourself, “Have I not seen this show before?”

We saw it in 2004 and 2000 and 1996 and 1992, and every other Democratic convention going back to Harry S. Truman. And by the way, if Truman were alive today he would be the one familiar face who wouldn’t be invited to speak.

Plain-spoken Harry would take one look at Obama and we’d be hearing some of his patented obscenities. Truman had no tolerance for politicians who tried to pass themselves off as messiahs, above the give and take of everyday politics.

Change? It’s simply more of the same old thing: power-hungry politicians lusting after the authority to impose the decades-old Democrat, socialist, big-brother programs on the American people. An authority the people wisely continue to deny them.

Barack Obama hasn’t demonstrated that by virtue of any past experience that he possesses the capacity to be president of the United States, a job far above his pay grade.

"It's obvious that Obama was saying that it's [when do babies get human rights]up to god to decide.

What Obama accomplished at Saddleback was to lay forever to rest the rumors about him being a closet muslim"
Actually, Bob, as every good Christian knows, God gave us free will to decide things for ourselves. We are supposed to make those decisions based on what is in our hearts, and the right decisions lead us to salvation of our immortal souls.
It is precisely a muslim viewpoint that God whimsically decides what is right and wrong, and we "hapless" humans have no say in the matter.
What Barry the Boob proved at Saddleback is that his understanding of God is a muslim one. Whatever he professes to BE now, he has absolutely no understanding of basic tenets of Christanity.
In addition, of course, to the fact, that he is to much of a wuss to be a president of these United States.

@svpallava
Nah, best-situation scenario for that would be to nominate a mule. You might manage to swing a few of the die-hard dems that way as well.

Reply to Tom's 10:05
Some reasons for Bubba's victories:
(*) in 1992, Ross "Big Ears" Perot garnered some votes which allowed Bubba a plurality
(*) in 1996, GOP put up Bob Droll--who had already proven useless as a VP-candidate in 1976

As you've said, Dhimmicruds have managed to pick progressively loonier candidates consistently since 2000; if the trend continues, GOP will only have to nominate a broom or a mop for 2012.

Bob Munck
Roe V Wade does NOT dictate at what stage legal rights for the human being begin. Different states have different laws and standards.

The question as to when life begins is the central question of the abortion debate. If Obama is pleading ignorance on that question, he ought to reserve his opinion on the subject, and take no position at all. This would, of course, disqualify him from higher office.

Let's face it...
Obama has no strategies.

God help us all if he actually gets elected and has to deal with the likes of Putin. That Russian KGB-trained dictator will eat him alive.

Uhhhhhhhhhh What pay grade?
Obama knows there is no age limit on when your rights to life as an American citizen will be taken away. I does not matter if you are a viable baby at conception or 8 months and 29 days after conception. Obama will zap you.

New Bumper Sticker
Here's a candidate for a new bumper sticker:

"POTUS: Way Above Obama's Pay Grade"

Excellent article, by the way.

SteveL 12:40 PM EST
"Warren didn't ask when life begins, which is a moral question. He cleverly and specifically asked Obama when a child should be LEGALLY entitled to human rights."

And Obama's answer first EXPANDED THE QUESTION beyond that. He said:

"Well, I think that whether you're looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade. But let me just speak more generally about the issue of abortion because this is something obviously the country wrestles with."

He's not a scientist or a theologian, so the answer from a scientific or theological viewpoint is not for him to answer. He goes on to say:

"But point number two. I am -- I am pro-choice. I believe in Roe v. Wade. And I come to that conclusion not because I'm pro-abortion but because ultimately I don't think women make these decisions casually. I think they wrestle with these things in profound ways, in consultation with these pastors or their spouses or their doctors and their family members."

That's an exact answer. He's pro-choice, and the laws related to Roe v. Wade describe exactly when a fetus becomes a human being and acquires human rights. Read his whole answer, here: http://tinyurl.com/58jbdu Read McCain's knew-jerk stump-speech answer right next to it.

once again...
if determining when life begins is above his pay grade, then so is deciding when it ends. What would give him the right to determine one and not the other? I mean, he already had determined when it's okay to end it. He has also already determined when it is okay to leave an innocent child outside of the room alone to die.

Everything is above this guy's paygrade...

New Obama slogan:
The Buck DOES NOT Stop Here! (It's above my pay grade)

for Bob Munck: Read the question
Bob Munck claims: "It's obvious that Obama was saying that it's up to god to decide."

But that wasn't the question Rick Warren asked.

Warren didn't ask when life begins, which is a moral question. He cleverly and specifically asked Obama when a child should be LEGALLY entitled to human rights.

The Pope doesn't have to decide questions of U.S. law.

Senators and Presidents do.

The law has to be written either one way or the other way. Either a developing fetus is legally entitled to legal protections or it is not. That is NOT something that is above the Government's "pay grade." Deciding what is legal or illegal is the Government's main job.

for Tom
Tom writes: "Almost every election cycle, the Dems give us a candidate from the left wing lunatic fringe."

Ironically, it's the success of the Republican Party in capturing the South and SunBelt that is largely responsible for that.

The Democratic Party has lost traditional (read: MODERATE) strongholds of the South to the GOP. Bill Clinton, Breaux, Hollings, all gone. There are no more moderate Southern Democrats left anymore; the GOP defeated them. So all their nominees now come from their northern strongholds, like the Northeast and Illinois, which are LIBERAL.

Resurrecting Jimmy Carter
If you read the left-wing blogs like DailyKOS and HuffingtonPost, you will see that most of these young Leftists think Carter was a great President, precisely for the policies that the rest of the country hated him for: Appeasement abroad and scarcity at home. And they think it was a mistake for the country to have replaced Carter with Reagan.

The Left thinks it's a good thing for America to be taken down a few pegs; to them it's immoral for us to be so affluent while there is starvation in Zimbabwe or whereever. They think Carter understood this and Reagan did not.

In that last point, at least, they are correct. Reagan rejected the moralistic self-flagellation of the modern Left, a policy Carter really did try to put into effect.

The creepy"ONE"
What kind of a person allows others to call him the "ONE". He is creepy. I'm looking for character and humility in a leader.

Obama lied – babies died
B.H.O. is no reformer – he’s a gangster-style, old school Chicago hack. B.H.O. is not “The One” – he is by calculative composition a champion of his master’s agenda (Unions, Planned Parenthood, and Mr. Saros et al). B.H.O. will change our capitalist country into one, big union shop run by the Democrats; bent towards the left so far that his socialist European friends will recognize him for the Communist at heart he really is.
I do not fear him; I loathe him for the holocaust of the Unborn (and in some cases the Born) he so adamantly supports. I do not think is name is funny; I think his name speaks defiantly of his family’s murderous, African-Muslim roots.
The more his candidacy is vetted, the more we learn about the puppet-masters behind the scrim of the burka. The G.O.P. will have enormous crossover votes because we love to win, believe our country is the best the world has ever seen, and mightily disapprove of American apologists. We will elect McCain because he actually will put the country first – and has the alarming record of cavorting with Democrats to prove it. John may not have led the perfect, conservative life but no one has, eh? McCain’s life is an open book and Obama’s is shrouded in mystery, deceit, and dope.
See you at the polls!

olbertroll. matthews and msnbc
these clowns must be shiteing bricks these days.

Matthews sees the attention of his homoerotic mancrush, his messiah losing popularity.

The conserv and repub hater olbertroll probably is in shock that his boy can't gain traction. We continually hear from this fool how much smarter he is and how his boy, the "one" is going to win; But olberclown remains a bitter little girl since o reilly continues to whomp him in the polls.

But in the final analysis it all falls back on the messiah. We on the right have been posting for months on his lack of resume and no real world experience keeps him unprepared for the job at hand.

But now the fool thinks that talking tough is going to boost his ratings. He thinks that telling mccain he doesn't know what he is up against gives him the status of fighter.

But since the messiah proves he is nothing more that an accumulation of his questionable associates and mentors. That he spent years in company of wright, fleger, farrakhan, rezko and a disciple of alinsky shows that being a leftist meant more than being an american.

That he is a product of the corrupt city politics of chicago has been demonstrated how he destroyed opponents through technocalities rather than beating them at the voting booth.

Now we see that his campaign chairmen, pfouffle(sp) and axlerod and their campaign of running on race and personality rather than actual substance is flailing. The longer it continues the more it becomes evident the messiah's lack of real world experience and any idea how to solve problems shows how unsuitable he truly is.

All he talks about is more govt to solve any problem that he talks about. But tax and spend doesn't grow the economy.

But worse, the messiah and his followers, tell us he is not just the anointed one but the person sent by God to lead america at this time. The left and their adulation of their messiah has now morphed into the cult of personality.

Will Democrats Ever Learn?
Almost every election cycle, the Dems give us a candidate from the left wing lunatic fringe. This election is no exception. Slick Willy has been the only Dem to win 2 terms in most folks memory. Why? Because, despite his shortcomings, he is more of a political centerist than any of their other candidates.

As an independent, I really did not want to vote for GWB in '04, but the Dems gave us J. Kerry, a northeast liberal's liberal, so I had no choice but to vote for George. But the Dems have gone from bad to worse. BHO makes the Poodle look like a viable candidate.

B2slim - Great Post!
Right on the mark.

jayhawk in aotearoa - your first paragraph was right "Democrats Bad, Republican's Good", but after that, you lost it. Can you please just answer one question for me? Why do you have to resort to cheap name calling? It betrays your position and makes your thoughts irrelevant. I'll be expecting more name calling in response, but it's worth a shot for genuine conversation.

Harry Truman was right but...
Boy this is fun to watch the MSM's favorite son self-destruct!

Americans are waking up to a great smelling, fresh brewed cup of coffee.

Between Obalogna's comments about abortions being above his pay-grade and the proof that he'd let an aborted BABY (not fetus/embryo) born alive die.

He'd go running to his "racist" grand-mommy and hate filled wife for advice.

His association with un-renounced terrorist, weatherman, Bill Ayers and UIC not releasing documents about that association.

His questionable birth certificate, religious training and childhood citizenship.

His plan to indoctrinate kids 0-5 into his marxist cult through forced school.

His plans to dismantle capitalism

His tax increases

His National Health care monopoly

This is better than anything Hollyweird could come up with...

Reality check....either under the armpits or in politics...
BO STINKS
...of corruption and dishonesty and general moral deprivation.

I'm going to sit back and enjoy the upcoming finale..
Like in 2004..liberals sulking for weeks and months after Obalogna loses.

I used this in another thread but it applies here too!

B2slim OR Spot On!
Of course your thoughts are exactly correct. Unfortunately however, there are legions of liberals (usefull idiots) who, no matter what, can't plant both feet on the ground.
This is the result of our bankrupt education system, vying to be one of the world's worst.
California, with a long history of liberal government might be the example America should avoid at all cost. It's bankrupt financially, economically, morally and spiritually. It's credit rating is about the same as that of Socialist Bolivia's.

Obama;s "Above my Pay Grade"

Obama's "Above my Pay Grade" comment was actually a statement of the lack of importance men have in reproductive rights.

The left doesn't see men as having ANY rights ONLY duties to pay child support.

Men can't demand that a child he and a woman created be born so HE might keep the child. She can have an abortion with or without his consent, killing his progeny.

I often wonder if Roe v Wade has been the very instrument to destroy a man's role in the household, especially the African American household.

Obama is just echoing that impotence.

You wrote the TRUTH
Great article very honest and true , and they think no one can see the truth but them . Keep them coming and great to see you on Fox News.

Come on, let's cut the guy some slack
Hey guys... he is doing the best he can. Right now his allies in the media are trying to pair him with somebody who has more notable experience than he has. I mean, that's got to hurt a little... he isn't running for vice president you know. Right now he is coming off several weeks of sliding in the polls, he is just trying to get some footing. He is having to ward off ideas that he is a Muslim and even that he may have voted against pieces of legislation that prohibits infanticide... that's a lot of things to deal with! On top of that he is still having to stay on guard because you know as well as I do that Republicans are going to start mentioning that he is black. They are going to use that against him. He doesn't look like the other presidents on the dollar bills. Cut him some slack, because I don't know about you but such difficult issues he is dealing with are above my pay grade.

Well Said
... and what else is there to say? It's unfortunate that our national media are so invested in Obama that they can't admit what stares us all in the face. Thanks for articulating the quintessence of Obama's real agenda.

Exactly
What real job has Obama ever had? At least McCain knows how to defend America.

Tea Party
>> Harry Truman INTEGRATED the military

during an election year. he also did more than FDR (who tapped KKK member hugo black to the supreme court and fought the reps efforts to outlaw lynching) to advance civil rights, i give you that, but that doesn't mean it's because he had a true change of heart, a la george wallace. my point was that the dems, with the exception of LBJ, have a horrid civil rights record. Woodrow Wilson and Truman were flat-out racists!

I believe
Harry Truman INTEGRATED the military against
the advice of others.

Sugary
Are you better off now than two years ago when the Democrats took over Congress? But the real question is: Will you be better off under a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President?

And his excuse will be . . .
. . . "this isn't the job I thought it'd be."

Vonryansexpress. . .
Internal "self-examination" only makes sense if you presume that Obama's candidacy is premised on what's best for the country. He is a carefully-crafted, scripted image--nothing more, nothing less--propped up by the Dems in an effort to regain power. I've said it before, and I'll say it again--I believe Obama himself as no idea what he might be getting himself into should he win. He's so deluded by his own rock star persona that he can't even appreciate that he'd be in way over his head.

Can you imagine . . .
the handwringing that must be taking place over how BHO is going to select a VP candidate whose accomplishments don't overshadow Obama's??? The Dems will not be able to laud the credentials of the VP nominee without folks wondering, as Mr. Reagan says, what on earth Obama is doing running for President. It will be utterly delicious to watch Obama try to "nuance" his way around the question "why did you pick so and so . . ," when any mention of why will automatically serve to highlight the credentials that Obama himself doesn't have.

I predict he will crack and finally proclaim himself the "Messiah".

Governing is Above Obama's Pay Grade
Amen.

"sorry performance" indeed

When this election is said and done and the post mortems commenced, will someone ask Sen. Obama, why did you think with your past, your philosophical development and your friends and associates that you should be advanced as a presidential candidate?

How this awkward, even loutish like thinker should have been pistoned ahead, by glib remarks that curtailed the candidacy of Sen. Clinton is one of the great eyewash hoodwinks of American political history.

It may be too much to ask of any individual, but might not Sen. Obama have done some self-examination and said, 'thanks but I'm not ready for this job and there is a better woman in the queue ahead anyway.'

Apparently, one doesn't form non-delusional self-appraisal when you keep intellectual company with the like of Alinsky, Ayers, Dohrn, Davis and the wrong Rev. Wright.

The fact that Sen. Obama has been hearing the equivalent of sycophantic parrots screeching out, 'Baaarack, Baaarack, probably didn't help the delusions from getting ahead of the self-appraisal.

Eloquent? Able to speak and motivate? Are we all watching the same fellow that sat at Saddleback and searched and hemmed and hawed for phrases and answers to easy inquires that should have rolled out with ease.

Can you say 'stammering audacity'?

Sen. Obama is not an impressive man. His friends are fringe and faulty. His past produced a paltry man and a poor candidate.

Boob Mook is yet another liberal dweeb

troll.

Takes some really twisted thinking to come up with some of the things he says...

I just read Ann Coulter's column on another site. She says,

“Warren asked Obama if he supported a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman, Obama said he did not "because historically – because historically, we have not defined marriage in our Constitution."

“I don't care if you support a marriage amendment or not. That answer is literally the stupidest thing I've ever heard anyone say.”

Well obviously, Coulter hasn’t read many, or MOST of the liberals posts on TH, and that includes Boob Mook's posts!

and jayhawk is...
(an easily won argument by the way) the dumbest person on the face of the Earth if he doesn't know that dimwit Jimmy carter was BY FAR the very worst POTUS in all of history. (an easily won argument by the way) And if jayhawk had even a smidgen of knowledge of American history, he would know something of some of the pretty bad presidents we have had, such as Buchannan, LBJ, the other Johnson, et al.
To sum up, Carter was, hands down the very worst, while Bush isn't even in the worst ten. Of course, how can one argue with someone like jayhawk, who apparently doesn't know the first thing about real history, but only mouths an empty rant based on pure hatred rather than any semblence of substance and fact?

Bob Munck: How is it that
a drunk can be convicted for manslaughter if he hits a car containing a pregnant woman and her fetus dies? Just wondering.

What is the reference?

elko.mike 7:38 PM EST
"I haven't checked but somehow I don't think the pope has any trouble deciding when life begins."

Ratzinger: "The Magisterium has not expressly committed itself to an affirmation of a philosophical nature [as to the time of ensoulment], but it constantly affirms the moral condemnation of any kind of procured abortion."

I wish people would get it clear that the question is when HUMAN life begins. The sperm and egg are both alive; there's no point at which life is not present.

"However, the president is the chief law enforcement officer in the country and is thus responsible for protecting citizens from murder"

Unborn fetuses are definitely not citizens. Among many other things, they weren't born in this country.

Bob Munck
I haven't checked but somehow I don't think the pope has any trouble deciding when life begins. Have you a reference.
|
However, the president is the chief law enforcement officer in the country and is thus responsible for protecting citizens from murder among other things. If a wannabe president cant' figure out when life begins then that president is not capable of performing his job. In other words, the job IS above his pay grade AND he doesn't deserve a raise.

On the nail
As even thinking (without teleprompter) is as far above 0blahma as K-2 is above the Dead Sea.

Bob...
You say the Pope is unable to the answer the question on abortion as it is above his pay grade. Every Catholic knows the Pope's position on abortion. Every Christian who believes the Bible is the Word of God knows God's position on the murder of innocents. The Psalmist writes "I knew you in your mother's womb." How can that be if the baby isn't a baby when it's in the womb? If Obama believes in abortion, he should just say so. His votes reflect his belief...what makes him look weak is vacillating and changing his position or trying to look "scholarly" when answering direct questions. He just needs to take a stand and let the American people decide if they agree with him or not. Right now he just appears weak.

B2slim: Spot on, as is Reagan!

Comrade Obama is being "found out" on a number of things.. the IL "Born Alive Bill" is JUST ANOTHER ONE.

Now we find out the rube has dispatched one of his ME advisor, Daniel Kurzter to Syria…

Senator is above his pay grade. In fact, I'm wondering if being a "neighborhood organizer" was above his pay grade!

He's a slick talking rube in expensive suits.

Above Obama's Pay Grade
The Pope says that question is above his pay grade also. He speaks with a certain authority on the matter. It's obvious that Obama was saying that it's up to god to decide.

What Obama accomplished at Saddleback was to lay forever to rest the rumors about him being a closet muslim.

The Republican convention speakers are certainly "new faces," though. For instance, Giuliani doing "a noun, a verb, and 9/11" followed immediately by McCain doing "a noun, a verb, and POW."

Democrats Bad...
Republicans Good. We get the idea Mikey.

Just wish all you experts at TH would have had these same standards in 2000. Perhaps then the U.S., and the rest of us, could have been spared the misery of the current Chimp in Chief, G. WALKER Bush, also arguably (an easily won argument by the way) the worst president ever.
One column idea for ya...the effects of nepotism on the hiring and employment of conservative commentators. Kristol, Goldberg, Reagan... the list goes on and on. Mikey, you should be "uniquely" qualified to let the people know why nepotism is a preferred hiring practice in conservative commentary circles.
Another reason to despise DEMONCRATS, because they tend to approve of fair hiring practices and affirmative action, perhaps? That might make it hard for you to find work.
