Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- It so happened that this week, on the day I wrote about Holocaust denial in the Middle East, a homegrown denier took a rifle into the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum -- an institution where I sit on the governing board. The museum counts about 1.7 million visitors each year who learn about the history of murderous racism -- and now one who decided to add to that history.

That day, out of curiosity, I did something I rarely do. I read the Internet comments on my column from different sources. In addition to the normal political vituperation, the level of anti-Jewish feeling was appalling. The European genocide, some contended, was exaggerated by Jews for political purposes. Jews were behind the Bolshevik Revolution, the rise of Hitler and the outbreak of World War II. They control the newspapers, radio, television and book publishing. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is right to expose the Holocaust myth, and Israel is perpetrating the real holocaust against the Palestinians.

*** Special Offer ***

Of course, these are the views of a small, self-selected group of the unbalanced -- hundreds out of millions. But the Internet allows these obsessions to gather in fetid pools, as James W. von Brunn (a prolific Web author) knew and exploited. The Internet has helped to create communities of malice.

The anti-Semitic community is varied in background and ideology. It includes both Internet Nazis and campus leftists carrying signs that read, "Jews (equals) Nazis." The Rev. Jeremiah Wright recently blamed "them Jews" for blocking his access to President Obama. A conservative Web site recently included a forum on Holocaust denial (before it was exposed and removed). One posting read: "The same blinded people that believe that the Germans intentionally killed Jews -- also believe the myth of the Anne Frank Diary."

Marginalized Western anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers have gained influence in unexpected places. In 2002, Libya's dictator Moammar Gaddafi awarded his (less than coveted) Gaddafi International Human Rights prize to Roger Garaudy, a French Holocaust skeptic. Ahmadinejad's 2006 conference of deniers featured David Duke as a keynote speaker.

For some Americans, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are akin to a shameful hobby -- like collecting old racist knickknacks or Nazi memorabilia. But these ideas are not harmless, because they can inspire an angry, obsessed bigot who sets out on a June morning to kill Jews -- and murders an African-American man who had a wife and young son.

The durability of anti-Semitism is a horrifying marvel of history. Sara Bloomfield, the director of the Holocaust Museum, observes: "Anti-Semitism has existed with and without Christianity. With and without the right wing. With and without the left wing. With and without democracy. With and without economic problems. With and without globalization. With and without a Jewish homeland."

Why the Jews? It is a question that must often have been asked during pogroms and in ghettos and in prison camps. There are many answers, and none of them adequate. Anti-Semitism in the West has undeniable theological roots -- the distortion of a faith, founded by a Jewish teacher, to justify the persecution of Jews. Anti-Semitism has been fed by government incitement and by blood libels that never seem to die. It found resonance in various forms of nationalism and nativism, in the bent science of eugenics, and eventually in totalitarian ideology.

David Berger, the editor of "History and Hate," writes, "We shall never fully understand anti-Semitism. Deep-rooted, complex, endlessly persistent, constantly changing yet remaining the same, it is a phenomenon that stands at the intersection of history, sociology, economics, political science, religion and psychology."

But we do know that anti-Semitism has always been a kind of test -- a reliable measure of a nation's moral and social health. When the rights of Jews are violated, all human rights are insecure. When Jews and Jewish institutions are targeted, all minorities have reason for fear. And by this standard, America has cause for introspection.

The museum that von Brunn assaulted is the best answer to his hatred -- the aging survivors who still volunteer, photographs revealing the vanished lives of the dead, the happy pictures drawn by murdered children. Not far from where von Brunn entered the museum, there is a black wall inscribed with a quotation: "All men are created equal ... they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights ... among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

This is what anti-Semitism ultimately must deny; and this is the reason anti-Semitism must always and everywhere be confronted.

We Got A Bigger Anti-Christian Problem

The Anti-Christian Movement In The United States is far greater than Anti-Semitism in the United States.

Let's Cut The Crap !

Sheeesh, Tim.
You wouldn't have any room in that little heart of yours for both problems would you? Maybe the 'crap cutting' should start a little closer to home.

museum shooter hates Bible, Christians
James von Brunn, the man who allegedly shot and killed a guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., was a Darwin-lover who hated the Bible and Christians, and defies media efforts to classify him as a stereotypical "right-winger," according to report.

The Moonbattery blog revealed von Brunn advocated the socialist policies espoused by Adolf Hitler and used Darwinian theory to support his anti-Semitism.

And in statements that later were stripped from an anti-religion website, he wrote, "The Big Lie technique, employed by Paul to create the CHRISTIAN RELIGION, also was used to create the HOLOCAUST RELIGION … CHRISTIANITY AND THE HOLOCAUST are HOAXES."

The blog had an answer to how to classify von Brunn, who remains hospitalized after being shot while attacking and shooting a guard at the museum: "If it barks like a moonbat, it's a moonbat."

Sowell Wrote on This
In "Black Rednecks & White Liberals," Thomas Sowell included an essay called, "Are Jews Generic?"

The essential point he made, and that I've largely observed, is that certain fundamental, immature, leftist prejudices against the mercantile classes drive the hatred of Jews, American Koreans, Southern Chinese, and other minorities who often find themselves in "middle-man" positions. Someone who essentially buys low and sells high for a living is inevitably found wanting in comparison to the artisan and warrior classes of society, seeming low and dishonest in his trade.

It's a primitive prejudice, and one of the driving forces behind leftist thought.

Bright side?
Good column, very thoughtful. My father, a WWII vet and 2nd generation Norwegian immigrant, would ask the same question, Why the Jews? I couldn't answer very well. Yet I think despite the persistence of anti-semitism it has gotten better in recent generations. Much use of the term these days is actually criticism of Israel's policies, which isn't a fair connection.

WHAT ???

What utter contempt for his readers.

This is disgusting and I am outraged.

I now have contempt for you, Mr. Gerson.

It's about core values, stupid.
Setting aside simple ethnic and religious rivalries that at times all groups give and receive, I think the reason the Jews are particularly singled out is they, with Christianity, comprise a society based on a true belief in God, and the resulting strength of this society and its norms defy all who are filled with anger so much that they feel they must bring an unjust "change" across the whole society. The Jews are the easiest target because they are few in number, and, if a people can go along with nonsensical talk against one small group of decent people, then they will go along with talk against Christians and any other group standing in the way of their ideas of "change".

More Museums Are In Order
More Museums Are In Order
The World should have more museums for the remembrance of the other people who died by mass killings in World Wars I and II and other wars. How about building museums for Armenians, Greeks, Russians, Ukrainians, Chinese, Poles, Germans, Laotians, Vietnamese, Japanese, etc.? The unfortunate fact about war after 1900 is that warfare is aimed at attacking the civilian populations because they supply the materiel for the armies. Modern warfare depends on large scale supplies and technologies supplied by the civilian populations.

Gerson reads every comment.
Gerson reads every comment.
Mr. Gerson had a comment that I made some time ago on one of his articles deleted because he obviously did not agree with it. He fancies himself as a member of the intellectual elite. Only a select few are worthy to comment on his articles; those that agree with him.

Liberals promote an enviorment of hate.

We can expect more and more of these acts of violence.

The Liberal policy of "politics of hate", rich against poor, whites aganist blacks, men against woman, us against them has promoted a climate of hate.

Ratas y Ratones
Take it easy on the author.

I can understand how, everntually, one would stop reading the comments to their articles. A steady diet of the same arguments over and over with the same intractable ideologues who either don't know how to reason through a point, or refuse to do so, is not something that would interest me either.

I mean, how much Hal Donahue and "will" et al can an educated person take until he say, "Enough of this nonsense!"

Chuck

That is the nature of this message board.

Many message boards you have to actually click on a comment to read the comment.

Here at TH, you either get all the comments or just the last two. The excessive scolling and consumption of bandwide is a by-product.

The software they are using for this message board leaves a lot to be desired.

Useful Idiots
Agreed. An "ignore" feature would be a welcome addition also.

Useful Idiots
Racism, and its sub-group, anti-semitism, are the remains of loyalty to tribe which had immense survival value as homo sapiens emerged on the plains of Africa. Inate wariness of strangers, extending to fear and attack, are overcome by most sophisticated folks here in our current stage of development. But there are still forces which can lead to expression as racism. Envy, and the tendency to blame others for one's misery are often exploited by demagogues to accrue personal power. The best defenses against racism are prosperity and personal contact. Our integrated schools are the major force reducing racism today.

Pistol

Racism is a learned response.

If blacks never felt the discrimination of Whites and other groups, they would be less likely to hate or distrust whites.

If whites never were the victims of Black on White crime, or forced to pay for the social deficencies of the black community, they would be less likely to think poorly and discriminate.

Forced intergration is a mixed bag. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. People like to live, work, spend leisure time with people of similar values.

I totally enjoy the time I spend with the few black friends I have. I have no interest in spending anytime with Blacks who do not share my values of government, society, and work ethic.

I view Blacks, whites, Russian Jews, Latinos, asians, who demand more government services, at my expense as parasites. They are a drain on all of society and hurt the general well being of everyone. They do not share my values.

I ask, "What happy camper wants to go camping with mosquitos"?

Useful Idiots
Yes.

Anti-Semitism does not change.
It only goes underground for a while. Jewish history documents a pattern of temporary acceptance of the Jew followed by attempts to destroy the Jewish people.

Following the horror and shame of WWII (shame on the part of those "compassionate" nations that turned their faces away from the slaughter rather than having to deal with a Jewish refugee problem) anti-Semitism was less politically correct. But now Jew-haters are getting bolder and hate crimes against Jews are increasing around the world. The pattern continues.

That, my fellow conservatives, is why so many American Jews are Israel-firsters. We know that Israel remains our last refuge of safety and community. At least until Obama's policies lead to its destruction.

Oregon Lady

The reports about "Self hating Jews" is real.

I see more and more Jews who lack a historical perspective blaming Israel for its tough treatment of Palestinians. They claim this treatment is causing terrorism. They are wrong off course.

They totally ignore which came first the horse or the cart.

Then we have more and more Liberals in the United State both Jews and Gentiles who rather attack Israel than the terrorist. These are the same people who would rather blame America than the terrorist. Rev. Jerimiah Wright, Hollywood Liberals, many in the news media to name a few.

to Useful Idiots
You're right. Self-hating Jews are here, just as they always have been. They were in Germany as Hitler rose to power...calling other Jews paranoid if anyone mentioned misgivings about new policies. And they're in the US attacking Israel. Worst of all, they convinced 78% of their fellow Jews to elect a president who spend most of his life with anti-semites and thugs.

However, even gullible Jews can learn. There's a great article by a Rabbi on NewsMax. The Rabbi takes Obama to the woodshed for creating an environment that fosters anti-semitism!

Tim -

Antisemitism and Anti-Christian prejudice are two views of the same bigotry. Note the following objects of politically correct bigotry:

The God of Abraham
Judaism
Christianity
Western Civilization
Individual liberty
Free traders/capitalists
The United States of America
Israel

A casual reading of history makes it clear the above are intimately related. Another commenter rightly points to Dr. Sowell's observations on the mercantile class, which are a species of free trader.

Why the Jews?
Because Satan knows that when Jesus returns he will rule and reign from the New Jerusalem and the Jewish people will indeed be the people of God. For those who hate Jews, their descendants will carry Jewish children on their shoulders and embrace the Jews because the Jews will be blessed mightily by God. Jerusalem will be the center of all power and authority in the world. Our world today would be greatly blessed and prosper if they would embrace the Jewish people, but like all other nations that fight against the Jews and Israel, the U.S. will disappear as a great nation for abandoning Israel.

Positive comments
I have to admit, for the first time in a while, I see mostly positive comments on this site.

Useful Idiot
Jews (such as myself) who do not agree with everything that Israel does are not "self-hating". I obviously do not support the Palestinian side of the argument over the Israeli side (not by a long shot). But I do not agree with the concept of new Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This view is held by the majority of Israelis as well. To put things in perspective, I am as much of a self-hating Jew for disagreeing with some of the Israeli government's policies as you are a self-hating American for disagreeing with some of Obama's policies.

I was a proud American when I disagreed with Bush as I am sure that you are a proud American now. I am a proud Jew and I want Israel around forever. This, however, does not mean that I give a blind stamp of approval on everything that Israeli government does.

The Jews
Another in a never ending series of articles from TOWNHALL portraying Jews as heroes or victims.

dullhammer,An Appropriate Name !

Where do ya think much of the Anti-Christianity in America comes from,Mr.Wizard ?

Why are you surprised?
Michael; Who are the most virulent anti-jews in the USA? The right? Hardly. From the most hateful "Nazi organizations" to the the stupid people that still believe that 9/11 was a jewish conspiracy, to the "progressives", they, all of them, believe that it's the jews that are causing all the world's problems. And, wonders of wonders, they are all on the left. These reports, that this man is "ultra" right is just a "red herring", the the "progressive" media is trying to make every one believe. You haven't heard the virulent anti-jew, Jeremiah Wright has just finished saying about the "jews" that were preventing the anointed one from having any contact with him? Let's not forget, that the anointed one spent 20 yrs. listening to this man. You don't think that nothing has gotten through? I don't know how old you are, but I remember, in the '30's in Germany, people were warning the European Jews about this man, Hitler. But, unfortunately, the jews in Europe or anywhere chose not to listen to them. During the last election, there were people that were warning the jews in the USA, that this man, Obama, will be very harmful to the jews, and again, the jews chose not to listen. What will it take for the jews to listen? Maybe another holocaust? What say you?

Why the Jews?
This question can result in a 4 year undergraduate degree followed by a pursuit of a PhD. Why the Jews? No rational explanation can adequately answer it. As the article points out, Antisemitism exist no matter the current state of Jewish existence. There contributions to the world in many fields greatly exceed what one would expect from their numbers. And yet, they are constantly demonized by the world.
If a rational explanation does not exist, then one must accept an irrational one.

The old shake down
Built into the Jewish culture is the individual right to question.

There are also a set of rules to live by that foster a fiscally conservative life and contractual investment between individuals.

These two ideals alone set the Jew on a collision course with most other human beings who flock to the concept of popular collectivism and the win/lose deal. It’s the classic saving, investing Ant vs. the live for the moment swarm of Grasshoppers. Always the swarm devours the grain until winter comes where they then arrive in mass to demand the Ant give up his stores for the swarm.

History is full of accounts of the Jewish shake down. There are also plenty of accounts when the Jews say no and what happened to them. The swarm has this collective denial and displacement ability that allows it justify any horror to try and survive winter.

Note: There is another culture in existence today that favors the individual, has fiscal conservative values and accumulated wealth that the ravenous swarm is hotly working excuses to take.

DVangura
"If a rational explanation does not exist, then one must accept an irrational one."

Huh??? Maybe the correct explanation just hasn't been brought to light yet.

Conservatives
Conservative complain (rightly) about the liberal bias in the news. The media fawning over Obama is just the latest example.

Than why aren't conservatives as upset about the total media bias in favor of Israel?

Is there a mainstream politician, newspaper, cable TV show etc. in this country who is even remotely pro-Palestinian?

Mainstream media
I went to google news this morning expecting headline after headline calling the shooter an evil right wing extremist When I found no headlines stating that, I knew he leaned to the Left. This is how I interpret the mainstream media as they constantly lie by omission. The fools in this country that chronically buy what the news tells them, or more importantly doesn't tell them, had better get with the program and soon.

I can't think of a worse foreign
American and European policy in the Middle-East will go down in history as the most laughable foreign policy ever. Hands down. No way could they possibly more destructive to the ME peace than they are.

I wish I was making this up, but here is their foreign (some one please correct me if I am wrong). Basically, the United States and Europe will give Isreal and Palistinian leaders billions of a year if they try to have peace. This is stupid in and of itself, but it gets to be colossually stupid. US and Europe further state that once peace has happened little or no money will be given to the Palistine government or Israel government. Think about it.

What foreign leader would want peace? You would quite literally have to be crazy to want peace. Even the most moral person would think twice. They would think "So if I actually achieve peace then I stop getting $300,000,000 a year from you guys." Arafat died with 5 billion dollars. Someone who wouldn't get hired at Deny's made 5 billion dollars by pretending to want peace.

There are so many better ways to achieve peace. I challenge anyone to come up with a with something actually challenging. Can you think of a worse way to achieve peace than our current foreign policy? I can't.

Then the politicians have the audicity to declare it is impossible. Of course it is impossible for politicians to do this. They lack any common sense or adaptability. They are nature's dodo bird. Don't blame Palistinians and don't Israelis for this. Washington is the problem. Europe is the problem. Quite literally stop paying their leaders to kill each other. My God how stupid can you be? With leadership like this how is humanity not extinct?

Ouestions,Questions not answered
Did Hitler really hate Jews or hate Communists and Marxists who just happened to be Jewish in Germany since Karl Marx was a Jew?
The War Resisters League (WRL) was formed in the 1920's to discourage Military enlistments against Germany in WW I as they do to this day Who were the core of this group at that time according to their own Website, Jews and Communists.
Who makes up the core of the ACLU et al?
Since America, a traditional Judeo Christian Country fought in WWII,in part because of Holocaust by Hitler, Why do Jews protest the Nativity of Christians at Christmas since Jesus was a Jew?
Why did Israel in the attack and kill American sailors in International Waters?
Why does Israel want to free Jonathan Pollard who stole America's secrets for Israel?
Why do wealthy Jews, like George Soros,Barbara Strisand, et al and the Democrat Party want to tear down America and its Constitution and support and fund every thing that is anti-U.S.Constituion,and anti U.S. Military?
Why do the Jewish Senators vote against funding our Military in the Iraq War, thereby supporting Terrorism.
Why are Jewish Senators Schumer and Feinstein attacking the 2nd Amendment by disarming Law-Abiding citizens of the Constitutional rights?
Why would the Jews in key Posts in the Obama Administration help an Islamofacist help destroy America from within and install Marxism? Check out who and the number.

Back to question #1,Did Hitler have 20/20 vision?

Why Jews?
Why does the world hate Jews. I think it is the same reason the world hates just hearing the words "Jesus". God chose His son Jesus to redeem the world. He chose the Jews to spread the Good News. The world rejects God because they want to choose their own gods.
Oregon Lady and Useful, self-hating Jews reject not only Jesus as savior, but God. You can't find a Jew who loves God, but hates the Israel God gave them.

Conservatives
To: Herman, IL

Is there a mainstream politician, newspaper, cable TV show etc. in this country who is even remotely pro-Palestinian?

Are you a complete idiot? The liberal-controlled media covers up muslim atrocities all the time. And why should anyone with a brain be pro-Palestinian? These are the pieces of scum that cheered the 9/11 attack on our country. These are the same people that other Arab countries won't let return to their own lands. They deserve no sympathy or financial help for supporting terrorism.

The Elephant In The Middle Of The Room !

Big Jewish-American Campaign Money For Obama.

Liberal Jewish Senators And Congressman

Liberal Jewish Supreme Court Justices.

Obama Troika Barack Obama/Rahm Emanuel/David Axelrod

Neoconservative Israel Firsters, who pushed, supported and financed The Serial Traitor McCain in The Republican Primaries.

Real Conservative Jewish-Americans can hold their Annual Meetings in A Phone Booth.

The great majority of Jewish-Americans reject Real Conservatism .

The much smaller Real Conservative Jewish-Americans have a mountain to climb ,trying to convert these Liberal Agendist and RINO Jewish-Americans.

Hate Not the Jewish Nation
I have read some of those blogs that are ant-Jewish. I could just feel the hate even from the written page.
I cannot agree with them because they lump all Jews into the same catagory. There are some REAL JEWS who love God even though they have yet to believe that the Messiah has come.
However, there are some Apostate Jews who are only Jews in the flesh,(the real Jews are a spiritual people) such as the Rothechilds of England and the Warburgs of Germany who have soured many people. Meyer Rothechild said, "Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes the laws" and they have with their greedy blood sucking ways have formed such or been involved in the World Bank and the Federal Reserve system and have made their millions cheating the world's peoples out of their money. If you want to hate, hate these guys and all who are involved in World financial affairs. But DON'T hate the Jewish people. These are people chosen by the Creator of this universe to teach Nations that there is one God and one God only. And regardless of what people think, one day they will inherit and inhabit that little stretch of land about 75 miles wide and 150 miles long called Palestine. Contrary to popular opinion the Arabs (sons of Ishmael) have no claim in God's sight to this land. I donot hate Arabs either so forget that.

Tim
Can't we all agree that we ar citizens of the world?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jimHIE0tHds

Yes or No.

Darrell
Read your Bible, Palestine is for others too. When Jesus told the story about the Palestinian, (Samaritan), it was to show one needs to love all their brothers. Any encouragement of Israel's slaughter of innocent children in Gaza, or he wrenching away of Palestinian homes in the West Bank, must not take place.

Mr.Zippidy Doo Dah !

Apparently, it depends on what your definition of "is " is !

Have a heart, Timmy
"Where do ya think much of the Anti-Christianity in America comes from,Mr.Wizard ?"

I think it comes from people with tiny little hearts, Mr. Tim Man.

Duhhammer !

Tell it to Anti-Christians !

Because...
...they're smarter than the rest of us, and some of them never fail to remind us of this.

Most Jews are shrewd, calculating and brilliant. We shouldn't hate them we should ask them for help.

ACLU
Why do Jews fund the ACLU?

To Darrell
Let me see if I understand this:

People who criticize Israel hate Jews.

But you criticize the Middle East and then assure us you don't hate Arabs.

Yes it all makes sense now.

Von Brun, Ahmadinejad
et al need an extended tour of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum in Israel. I doubt their anti semitic views will be the same after that. I lived through WWII in western Europe and witnessed the rounding up of jews to be sent away in cattlecars to Germany and Poland. Then in 1998 I visited Israel and toured Yad Vashem. It shook me to the core.

Maybe it's Just Ignorance
I don't know why Jews are continuously targeted. I was raised a child of a Baptist minister, my spouse a child of a Roman Catholic. Neither of us can understand anti-Semitism.

Tim (above) is right, but to be more inclusive, there is an anti-Judeo/Christian belief movement afoot, with most of the support coming from the left. I truly feel that Obama is anti-Semitic, regardless of what he says. We all know he speaks out of both sides of his mouth and his actions speak louder than words.

Tim
Thought I'd try to get the point across to the anti-semites first, since that is the topic at hand. It was very troll-like for you to have changed the subject on the very first post. Anti-Christian bigotry is an important subject; Jesus even addressed it more than once. But to insert it here the way you did in this thread is hardly to demonstrate the spirit of Christ. It is closer to the spirit of anti-Christ itself-- as Jesus called his followers to expect such hatred . . . not to whine about it. The very thing you claim to hate is evidently within your own heart and pouring out into the public eye. You might want to pray about that.

To Dullhammer
Who is behind the downplaying of the Christmas Holiday and the ridiculing of Christians in Hollywood?

Is the the Hindus', Druids, Mormons, Quackers etc.? Who?

Root of anti-Semitism
It's actually very easy to explain. The Jews are the only people group who routinely and successfully maintain their own unique culture and heritage, survive, and thrive in other nations. Typically, people settle into a new culture, their kids are somewhat ethnic, but their grandkids are usually well ensconced in the new "homeland". Jews not only do not ever adopt the customs of the nations in which they dwell, but always thrive in those nations, in no small part due to their own unique talent for supporting one another and looking out for their own.

Not many people are aware that Israel's right of return applies to atheist Jews, but not to Christian Jews.

Holocaust deniers and the ilk need to be roundly denounced, there is no denying, but it seems there needs also to be a place in this world for discussion of the things that the Jews do wrong without being rolled in with Nazi's and bigots.

Re: Dullhammer
Pointing something out is not "whining". I certainly do not blame the Jews for anti-Christian sentiment in Hollywood though. More like communism and rank atheistic bigotry.

For RL
Unfortunately, it is not at all that simple. There is a part rooted in history.

The Jews resisted the Hellenisation efforts of Seleucids (Macedonians, successors to eastern parts of Empire of Alexander, most notable of these Antiochus IV) and later mandatory Emperor-worship of Romans. In the case of the latter, the mandatory Emperor-worship eventually was removed after Constantine but the continuing resentment of Roman officials wasn't. Most Europeans (and their descendants in North America) have origins in countries once under Roman (or later Byzantine) bootheels.

In the case of the Muslims, somewhat more complex. They don't like the Bible's recording of Ismail's rejections of God (multiple ways: he mocked Isaac--the heir of God's Promises, assented to his mum's back-turning on god through marriage-arrangement, ...) and have perveted them greatly in the Koran (claiming Ismail rather than Isaac as being the one Abraham had to sacrifice, rejecting and altering the crucifixion/resurrection account in New Testament). Also (coincidence?) most Arabs and all Iranians originate in areas once under Roman or Macedonian bootheels--there were three divisions, other than Seleucid Kingdom, of Alexander's empire which together stretched from Tunisia to Seistan).

For dullhammer
Hindu mythology has something tangentially similar. Two doorkeepers of one of the heavens were cursed (to be demoted to earth) for barring entry to a visitor (specifically known for mercurial temper, even as implied by his name). They asked their overlord to remove the curse from them--and he said, he could only modify it one of two ways: thrice as their overlord's enemies (but their obsessive hatred would cause them to think of him cent-percent of time) or seven times as his friends. Assuming that the smaller number would mean shorter time to restoration the doorkeepers (only one of them spoke for both) decided on the thrice as enemies--and were granted this request. (the stories of births #2 and #3 of these doorkeepers are in Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata)

Also noticeable
that several chavs (British slang term) suddenly came out of hiding onto TH immediately after 0bama's speech in Cairo (including Herman of IL and Charles of PA; it is obvious that Tim of PA is also a chav). Chavs oft think they are Christian, but have never been more Christian than Hitler (who syncretised a perverted Darwinism with old-Norse idolatry) or Holocaust Museum murderer Von Brunn (perverted Darwinism known, he hated Christians as well as Jews)--always they reveal themselves through posts cent-percent devoted to bashing Jews and/or Israel.

(edit: Hitler and Von Brunn also fit the definition of chav)

Herman
" Who is behind the downplaying of the Christmas Holiday and the ridiculing of Christians in Hollywood?

Is the the Hindus', Druids, Mormons, Quackers etc.? Who?"
It's the Quackers, Herman. It's definitely a Quacker conspiracy.

To Shane
Nice dodge on who is behind the Christian bashing in this country.

Communists in Hollywood? You can't be serious. Hollywood is the ultimate exercise in capitalism. If you don't make money in Hollywood in TV or movies you are through.

The mention of atheists in vague enough to include or exclude anyone.

History Turned On Its Head
The Jews were the first to resist the State as master of life. They were hated for this by the leaders of government. The leaders used religious bigotry to allow them to persecute this little minority religion. The State gains power over a persecuted group and the rest of society as well. The little people of society buy into the lies of hate, accept it and some are stupid enough to act on it. The State gains more power and keeps the people distracted from the real problems by scapegoating. Scapegoating never solves anything and State power grows claiming it will fix the perceived problems it has really created. Some things in history never change.

This question is never answered.

A few days ago, a column on TH asked the question, “Mommy, why do people kill Jews?” The question was never answered.

So now I will ask the question that always gets me in trouble, and never gets an answer. I will just use the short version

I have talked to many people over the decades, and have found that when you get to the bottom line, no one really hates another person because of color, race, gender, creed, or anything like that. Those factors are the identifiers, and what you do next depends on your past experience with such a person, or what you just read in the paper, or heard on the news.

Since Anti-Semitism has caused a problem in each of the 2,000 or so Countries, Governments, Races, Cultures that have existed in the past 2,000 years, don't you think that Jews are at least part of the problem?

A country consists of a Border and a Culture, without one, the other can not exist. For thousands of years the Jews have had a culture but never a border.

If a child went to school, complained that people didn’t like him, so next year you sent him to a different school, with the same results. This continued for 16 years, through college, a different class, a different school, different people, but everyone disliked him. Wouldn’t you finally believe that at least some of the problem was the kid?

Hitler was in power for just a few years before the concentration camps started their dirty work. Do you think it was possible for the Geman Jews to create such hatred in just those few years, or did that result from hundreds and hundreds of history. What did the Jews do in Germany to create such hate?

I am sure that many will say I just made this up, but recently my best friend for the last 50 years died at age 93. He was a Jew.

Now this is an honest question. Why are Jews so hated in so many countries for so many centuries.

Yes, Communists in Hollywood. No better way to redirect the common, working man's dollars to the communists than to make movies and then donate wildly to the Democratic party, where they advocate the undermining of family, the uselessness of religion, and heavy regulation (and now government ownership) of the economy.

Communists. C-o-m-m-u-n-i-s-t-s: Communists.

I did not stutter. =) (ok, no stuttering in print, I know.. I know...)

If it helps you any, I think Marx was of Jewish descent, so that should make the concept a little more palatable to you, given your sensibilities.

"Since Anti-Semitism has caused a problem in each of the 2,000 or so Countries, Governments, Races, Cultures that have existed in the past 2,000 years, don't you think that Jews are at least part of the problem?" Simple-- because they persist in maintaining their culture and religion without compromise. Believe it or not, in my home state a lot of people hate the Amish for the same reason, and they don't even own newspapers or television stations. Add in the high level of achievement of the Jewish people as a whole, and you add envy and a feeling of unfairness, which morphs into paranoia and plot theories pretty quickly. Lenin describe anti-Semitism as "socialism for idiots," (actually, socialism is socialism for idiots) In short, it's a convenient excuse for one's own shortcomings or anything you dislike about modern society. As a senile old racist put the situation to me in 1960, "Everything is the fault of jew communist tiggers in the pay of the pope"

To Jim
You asked why Jews have been so hated through the years. There are probably two reasons.

1) Let's face it, they have been the more successful group down through the centuries. That is bound to cause resentment. I personally disagree with that. Instead of being resentment I say copy their success.

2) If the positive sterotypes about Jews are true than sadly the negative ones are too. The sterotype about Jews being cheap, arrogant and dishonest must have some validity to have lasted this long.

Herman 9:40am
Herman, we seem to go round and round on this issue.

What I can't fathom though is why do you have such contempt for Jews? Have you personally experienced distress at their hands?

Why do you obsess so much over this subject? If it disturbs you so much to see the frequent coverage of the issue, why don't you just ignore these specific articles. When I see columns on subjects I don't like or am sick of, I just pass them by.

I am a Christian, although not one who regularly goes to church. For some reason, I see Israelis as my brothers. This was significantly enhanced once I visited and toured Israel last fall. I want to fight for them but would not be acceptable to them.

I'm not naive. I recognize that they consider me a gentile and goyim (sp?) and would probably find myself receiving second-class treatment at their hands if I permanently lived in Israel.

However, while I was there the people were extraordinarily friendly and helpful, and seemed very pleased that I had come to visit and hadn't allowed all the potential violence that could occur to frighten me off.

I normally don't have too much patience for the anti-Jews here, but after always seeing you show up and post essentially the same thing, I just am curious. Both of my cousins are vehemently anti-semitic and I've never been able to understand their hatred and contempt either.

Is it possible for you to convey why you are so full of enmity towards them?

Prejudice and Humility
The confirmed prejudices of a thoughtful life, are as hard to change as the confirmed habits of an indolent life; and as some must trifle away age, because they trifled away youth, others must labor on in a maze of error, because they have wandered there too long to find their way out.
Bolingbroke

"There are plenty of the well-endowed,...thank God......It strikes me as unfair and even in bad taste, to select a few of them for boundless admiration, attributing super-human powers of mind and character to them. This has been my fate, and the contrast between the popular estimate of my powers and achievements, and the reality, is simply grotesque." Albert Einstein

To PV
I don't hate Jews and/or Israel.

I do hate that a small Middle Eastern country with no oil is the center of America's foreign policy.

I do hate the U.S.'s blind support of a country that causes us nothing but problems.

I do hate the sacrosanct nature we confer on Israel.

I do hate that American taxpayer dollars are being used by Israel to attack defenseless people.

I do hate the fact that our support for Israel (in my opinion) caused 9/11.

Herman
You wrote: "1) Let's face it, they have been the more successful group down through the centuries. That is bound to cause resentment. I personally disagree with that. Instead of being resentment I say copy their success"
So since the USA has been the most successful country, shouldn't the Muslim world try to copy us instead of wanting to wipe us off the map with Israel?

Thanks
I don't agree with your reasoning but thanks for your thoughtful response.

I think you are being overly simplistic to join the cacaphony that attributes Muslim hatred against us as a byproduct of Israel/Jew actions.

Don't you notice that Muslims never get along with any of their neighbors who are non-Muslim, or not the right kind of Muslim. What about India/Pakistan....what part do the Jews play there?

What about all the attacks in the 1990s: The two African embassies, the USS Cole, the first World Trade Center 1993 bombing? The trains in Madrid?

No, I would suggest that Israel is merely a proxy for us since it is seen as the Little Satan and we are the Great Satan.

Anyone who thinks if we abandoned Israel tomorrow or the Jews all just disappeared would bring an end to Muslims hating America and the West are going to be very surprised and sorely disappointed.

I think Joel has written several posts that accurately detail the mindset and true intentions of Islam. Any of us who ignore this do so at our own great peril.

I have to go do some work. Won't be able to return for awhile.

I am amazed!
It took centuries to write the Scriptures and the history of the middle east since 2000BC - it has all now been rewritten in just a few short posts.

Wow!

jim
You ask the question 'Why are Jews hated?' I would be most interested in your sharing your thoughts on this. As I am not Jewish, I am not in a position to have a good understanding of any political, social, or spiritual mindset of Judaism. I have some observations but would appreciate hearing yours.

Thanks.

It's the culture

I think most problems in any country anywhere is people coming to that country and culture, and refusing to adapt to the culture they wanted to live with.

They hated their own culture enough to leave, but then try to force their hated culture on others.

Would you want to visit the northern suburbs of Paris. The towns in England that say "no Whites allowed?"

I can assure that Los Angeles is not nearly as nice as it was when I moved here 55 years ago.

There are places in Los Angeles where the Jews insist the traffic lights do not require them to push the walk button. Then insist some places that Hotel elevators stop at every floor, without pushing a button.

I want every arab and muslem forced out of our country and back to their sandy sewer. I don't care what they do there, they can kill all the ladies they want in their cesspool, but not here.

You can say you were born here or there, but if someone answers anything but American when asked their country, send them there.

Thanks, Jim.
The next time I see a jaywalker, I'll ask him if he lost his yarmulke.

Herman, you are
a sickola, no doubt about it! Please get help. The person who murdered the security guard is also a 9/11 Truther and most of these lunatics are on the Far Left and are allied with radical Moslems who believe that we attacked ourselves. It is the climate that the Islamists and the Truthers together created that made it easy for him to strike.

thoughts and questions
I admire and support the nation of Israel...period. Having said that, I do NOT want to take up arms in defense of that country nor do I agree with the apparently eternal foreign aid we have undertaken vis-a vis Israel. It is a country, like all others.

Here in the US, however, why is it that virtually every aspect of our society that I dislike seems to be led, financed by, motivated by...Jews? The despicable ACLU,,,all Jews. The entire drive for socialization and government control...led and financed by Jews: Schumer, Waxman, Soros et al. Filth from Hollywood: entire industry Jews. Behind and financing the abominable popular rap music scene: Jews. Neo-cons agitating the US to engage in eternal conflict on behalf of Israel: Feith, Wolfowitz, Perle, et al...all Jews.

Finally, why the holocaust museum on our Mall in our capital city? Or anywhere in the US for that matter? We didn't do it, it didn't happen here (and to be clear, there is no doubt that it happened), it didn't happen to Americans..we are in no way to blame for it. Yet every city and town in the country now has to have its own holocaust museum. Why? That Israel should have one...of course. Certainly Germany and Austria as well. But why here? And why are we with clockwork regularity belabored with feature articles in all the media about that event? Again, why us?
Jews are and have been a truly admirable people in many ways, but they bring a great deal of dislike and resentment upon themselves, at least in this country, because of their apparent obsession with far-left causes and their propensity for agitation in the public arena to achieve the goals of those causes, regardless of the harm/damage that this causes and has caused to the American nation. My advice to the Jews...just shut up for a while. Relax. Enjoy the peace and freedom you have found here and let us, the other Americans, work out our national destiny on our own.

You lost me on the 'culture' post as you talk about Muslims and Jews in the same post. Please clarify.

So I've Been Reading
So I've been reading this trail for a while as a moderate/conservative American Jew. My parents were born here. I was born here. I went to college here. I have only one passport and it has the eagle on the cover. I am an American. I voted Republican every election that I was old enough to vote in except for 2006, when Iraq/Katrina just made me lose faith in the administration.

While I've known for a while that there's clear anti-Semitism on both sides of the political spectrum, I'm flabbergasted by some of the things that I've read here. I'm very happy to read the posts of some nice and considerate folks, but I'm livid at others.

I'll respond to a few of the individual posts, but a general message here--conservatives need to cast anti-Semitism and racism out of the movement publicly, particularly if we want to be taken seriously going forward. It's not enough to say "these people don't talk for me", we have to do better--calling it what it is and refusing to tolerate it. We wink and nod at it and then get huffy when we get lumped in with them--it's insufficient. Check out Shep Smith--the man's got a point. . .

Donald
I agree with you on foreign aid except that I am tired of paying foreign aid to most countries ad infinitim.

The Holocaust, in my opinion, was a display of how base and barbaric mankind can be. It seems to be lost in history that people other than Jews were also subjected to mass murder by the Third Reich. I had a cousin, who was a soldier in WWII, who married a young, Catholic Polish woman. She had been a prisoner in a concentration camp and had her number tattooed on her wrist. Lily lost her whole family there. We should not be committed to remembering Elvis Presley if we cannot remember what mankind at its worst can do. As to why there is a museum for it here, I do not know.

I do know that the percentage of Jews in the American population is diminishing while Islam is the fastest growing religion. But for the powerful examples you gave, I would rather the opposite be true. As a Christian, I am hard pressed to turn my back on the Jews. After all, unlike the neo-Nazis and skinheads believe, The Bible contains two testaments, the Old and the New. Without Judaism, there would be no Christianity.

I have a family member who is in a long term relationship with a Jewish woman. If she were the stereotype of American Jews, Jews would be in very bad shape indeed. It appears that she treats her religion more like an exclusive social club rather than a matter of faith. She is as far left as anyone I have ever met. I guess one does not hear the sound when they dance on their own grave as she promotes politics and ideas that are not, ultimately, friendly to Jews.

People are people, folks!
I've met Jews who were greedy, calculating, and shrewd. But I've also met non-Jews with the same characteristics. I've also met Jews who were kind, generous, caring people. In other words, people are individuals.

I was married to a Jewish man for twenty years. Although the marriage ended, we have a beautiful, talented, sweet, daughter who is half-Jewish. So when people say anti-Semitic things I get just a tad . . . upset!

The Jews are God's people
I pray for Israel every day along with many other Christians that I know. It is horrifying to see the depth of evil and hatred that lurks in people's hearts regarding the Jews and Israel, however. Even the commentors here on the blog spew nastiness. You are sad little people. God help you. In answer to your question, the US defends (defended? not sure this is past tense with Obama in the White House) Israel because she is the only Democracy in that entire area and is a shining example of what people who are determined never again to be abused can do. God will protect Israel Himself. It is true that not all Jews everywhere are good people, they are human, just like other religious and national groups and can and do make mistakes and sometimes do bad things but in general they have one of the most outstanding achievement levels of anyone in the world in spite of persecution that has lasted for centuries. And God likes 'em, so deal with it. God Bless Bibi!

John
Anti-Semitism is like 9/11 truther affiliation-- a clear dividing line between people who are of a particular political persuasion and total nutters. I find a lot more anti-Semitism on the left nowadays, certainly among Europeans. In either variety, it disqualifies the believer from being taken seriously, like the senile old racist I quoted in an earlier post. The anti-Semite, however disguised, doesn't deserve to be taken seriously, but only to be ridiculed. I can tolerate harmless buffoons-- dangerous ones must be treated as despicable.

Carol Ann
Touche.

Never thought...
...I'd hear a black-liberation preacher yell the rhetoric like a grand dragon of the kkk... only in an America with a community agitator with no experience is elected president... DOH!

Something Positive
Michael, you were right when you said that "Anti-Semitism has always been a kind of test--a reliable measure of a nation's moral and social health. We're looking more unhealthy all the time. But I want to bring a word of encouragement.

I was born in 1938, and growing up I learned about the Holocaust. My heart grieved at the atrocities the Jews suffered under Hitler; the irreplaceable lives that were lost, the unremitting anguish of the survivors. I celebrated when Israel once again became a nation.

After becoming a Christian about 40 years ago, my love for the children of Abraham has never abated. I'm not blinded by it; I do see the leftist drift among many American Jews, but "Let he who is without sin among you cast the first stone."

I read something the other day that I hope will be encouraging to any Jewish readers:

"The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has blessed the Jewish people with a brilliance that generally far exceeds their cousins the Arabs and the rest of the Gentile world.

"The Arabs have the oil, but the Jews have the brains. Lest I be accused of racism, one need only compare the numbers of Nobel prize winners among them. In the Arab/Muslim world of 1.4 billion there are 6 Nobelists: 3 for Peace, and 1 each for Chemistry, Physics, and Literature.

"In the Jewish population of 14 million (one hundredth of the Arab world) there are 165 Nobelists: 51 for Medicine, 45 for Physics, 27 for chemistry, 22 for Economics, 11 for Literature and 9 for Peace. This is astonishing!" (Dave Hunt, in the Berean Call).

Though our appears to be turning against Israel, I must hope for the day when the rest of the world will look upon the Jews through the eyes of the Good Samaritan, going the extra mile to help and support them. After all, they are the apple of God's eye.

Our world today would be greatly blessed and prosper if they would embrace the Jewish people, but like all other nations that fight against the Jews and Israel, the U.S. will disappear as a great nation for abandoning Israel."

My response:
Your theory is nowhere in the Bible; all peoples will be judged equally before God. God does not show favoritism but judges each soul individually.
Jesus will not rule an Earthly Kingdom from Jerusalem. A new Heaven and a New Earth will be created. The future of the Earth does not depend on Jerusalem or the State of Israel. "Israel" in the Bible means "the People of God".

Well luckymick
Then I guess you've never heard (or read transcripts of) Looie Farakhan's speeches (NOI is, and has been almost from inception, a syncretisation of black-liberation-theology with Islam).

Addendum
The depth of Islamist hatred for Jews (even above that for other infidels) was most evident on 2008/11/26 when two of the ten attackers were deployed against Nariman House, which had only a small number of unarmed Jews (in comparison with Taj Palace and Oberoi Trident hotels, and Shivaji Rail Terminus where the crowds included some armed--albeit with 303 bolt-action rifles which were no match for the militants' AK-47's--policemen) inside--and even further by the grotesque brutalisation of the Jewish victims (the victims, of multiple faiths including Islam, in the hotels and rail-terminus had been simply killed and left).

ANTI SEMITISM
Are AMERICAN JEWS anti-semitic?

they vote heavily for the DEMOCRAT PARTY who believes the PLO is the guiding light of freedom
leaders like the CLINTONS have supported HAMAS

AND THE PRESIDENT OBAMA has just told israel to let itself be nuked so IRAN CAN BE HHAPPY

BUT COME TH MIDTERM ELECTIONS 75 TO 85 % OF AMERICAN JEWS WILL VOTE FOR THE democrats

the shooter at the holocaust memorial looks like a far left democrat to me

Factoid: that ONE Nobelist for Physics, Abdus Salam is NOT recognised as a Muslim (he was a Qadiani/Ahmadiya, a community which began suffering persecutions in West Pakistan from 1953 and in Bangladesh--erstwhile East Pakistan until 1971--more recently; they were declared in 1976 as "non-Muslim" by Bhutoo to appease a demand by mullahs) in his native Pakistan, even being disallowed re-entry there until his 1996 passing (after which his body was allowed back for burial); the words on his gravestone originally read "first Muslim Nobel Laureate" but the word "Muslim" was scratched out, leaving an obviously-bakvas (though this was not noticed in Pakistan) remainder-epitaph.

Being confused--
I rarely post anything on religion because I believe that here in the USA we all have a choice. However, since my mother who passed away a couple of years ago came from parents who were a mixture of European Catholic and Jewish, this made my mother and her siblings a combination of both religions. My father's father was Nordiska Lutheranska (northern Norwegian Lutheran) which to his family was more like the Asatru of the Viking Gods. His mother was Russian Pravaslavnik (Orthodox).

Strange marriage, yes, but successful. Mother was always very pro Jewish in her friends, business associates, medical people, etc. She maintained that her business acumen was due to her Jewish smarts. Dad always told me to study various beliefs and perhaps make a choice. I later chose Asatru, the Viking religion of his ancestors, but was taught to respect my mother's religious beliefs.
I will never allow someone to try and change me, but will respect their right to believe as they wish. An older Jewish friend of my mother told me as a child that if there was one best religion, that many others would try and convert to it or "steal" it in hopes that it would benefit them. Confused as a kid, you bet I was.

The Christian right is so quick to complain when they don't get to see their Christmas plays in their children's public schools, but if Jews want to not violate the Sabbath by pushing a button, they shouldn't complain at all.

The PLO doesn't exist any more and when it did, the Democratic party didn't "support" them.

Didn't Ronald Reagan support Iran's need from American military replacement parts?

I remember reading something about Iran-Contra a few years ago in a magazine. It involved Ronald Reagan usurping the Constitution of the United States of America. Congress is supposed to control the purse strings for the United States. Ronald Reagan thwarted it by trading arms to Iran for some cold cash that could then be transferred to the Contras in Nicaragua.

However, the article failed to mention the appeasement policy of Herr Reagan. He GAVE the Islamic Republic of Iran F-14 parts and other weaponry! How long do you think it took the Mullahs of Iran to figure out that the more hostages their various proxies took then the more weapons would be given to them?

Is it any wonder that the 1980's was a decade filled with Americans being taken hostage?

jim
You must be so sad that your neo-nazi mentor was shot several times the other day.

You can continue hating Arabs and Jews, and the American people will continue hating people like you. The Nazis were mutilated in the 1940s, and today their dimwitted followers are are viewed as an embarrassment by humanity as a whole. The First Amendment says you can say and think whatever you want, though as a result of Democratic elections, your point of views will never see the light of day in the American Government.

Supersessionism Replacement Theology !
Catholic Views On Who Are Now The Chosen People.

Pope Pius XII, in his 1943 encyclical Mystici Corporis, wrote that, "The New Testament took the place of the Old Law which had been abolished."[31] As authority, he paraphrased Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 2:14 in paragraph 29, "Jesus made void the Law with its decrees [and] fastened the handwriting of the Old Testament to the Cross;"[32] and he paraphrased Ephesians 2:16 and later 2:14 in paragraph 32, "[Jesus] made the Old Law void 'that He might make the two in Himself into one new man,' that is, the Church, and might reconcile both to God in one Body by the Cross."[33] Thus Pius condemned a two-path approach to salvation (one way for Christians and another way for Jews), affirming that the Roman Catholic Church was established for the salvation of all people, both Gentiles and Jews, but also excluding a continued validity to the covenant of Exodus-Sinai.

Another factoid for Diane
As a whole, the Muslim world CAN (but won't) claim to have produced TWO Physics Nobelists--but one (Subramanyam Chandrasekhar, a 1908 Lahore-born Iyer) was never a Muslim by any stretch and the other (Abdus Salam) won the Nobel AFTER being declared non-Muslim.

There is a DIFFERENCE . . .
in TRUE "anti-semitism" and perceived "anti-semitism" (anti-zionism). Only in ONE country (the USA) is opposition to zionist policies considered "anti-semitism". The name-calling does NO ONE any good and is the sign of the name-caller's weak argument.
There is much more political plurality and freedom to dissent in ISRAEL than there is here.
It is difficult to see how jews could vote for obama, given his muslim background and affinity for all things muslim.

Tim
Pope Pius XII was a man. I have never professed faith, nor have I ever believed, in any man. Considering what he conveniently overlooked during WWII, I do not find him an exceptional man. Roman Catholics, however, did many good works during the war in saving people from the Holocaust.

tj
"It is difficult to see how jews could vote for obama, given his muslim background and affinity for all things muslim."

Perhaps they see themselves as citizens of the world. Or perhaps, they see many similarities in stories, as told, between the Torah and the Koran.

Summers !

So were Abraham and Moses !

Do your Homework before you slander Pope Pius XII !

Pope Pius XII was responsible for saving 850.000 European Jews through The Vatican Pipeline and has been praised from Golda Meir to The Chief Rabbi of Rome for his stand against Nazism and aiding European Jews.
Pius XII was awarded the title "Righteous Gentile" by the state of Israel, and the Israeli Government announced its intention to plant 850,000 trees in his honor - one for each Jewish life he was credited with saving.

Donald . . .
You bring up many good points. At the risk of being branded as "anti semitic", I would like to point out that there have been human "holocausts" throughout history, some of the most horrific which DID take place during the twentieth century. The USSR, China, Cambodia, Turkey and others. This by no means diminishes any aspects of the jewish holocaust, but shows that man's inhumanity towards his fellow man knows no bounds.
It seems the jews are expert at capitalizing on their own misery while disregarding the other "holocausts", many of which resulted in much greater human destruction.
For further reading look up "The holocaust industry" by Dr. Norman Finkelstein and "Selling the Holocaust" by Tim Cole.
Jewish collusion with the nazi regime existed on a much greater level than is normally perceived. Read "51 Documents, zionist collaboration with the nazis" by Lenni Brenner.
It is a shame that the jewish Holocaust was somewhat "sanitized" and elevated to a much reater level to protect those jews who had a hand in it by profiting from it. There is no attempt to minimize the horrors that occurred, the TRUTH, no matter how uncomfortable it may be for some, is the ultimate goal.
Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it.

Where it comes from
Hatred of the Jews originates with Christianity. When you consider the way Jews are portrayed in the New Testament stories, and realize that throughout much of its history the Christian Church (all branches of it) has blamed Jews for the murder of Christ. The effect of this blame can be seen in the history of murders, pogroms, discrimination, and forced conversion imposed on Jews by Christians for nearly 2000 years.

Of course today's self-styled tolerant Christians can exempt themselves from any part in this horrible history, but that usually shows historical ignorance, little else. And yes, the Pope can make nice, but this does not change the fact that hatred of the Jews is an invention of Christianity, and Christianity must take the responsibility for it.

Jim . . .
don't let the tirades of "anti-semitism" dampen your quest for the TRUTH. A jewish sense of "social justice" (theirs) and meddling in other peoples affairs are a part of the disdain (and sometimes unjustified hatred) people have for them.
A good example of this was the American "civil rights" movement of the 1950's and 1960's. Jews orchestrated, led and encouraged "civil disobedience" among blacks. This was not necessarily a "bad" thing but DID garner distrust between the "outsiders" and residents of the towns and cities where these "demonstrations" were taking place. Let's look at it from the viewpoint of the residents. They see "outsiders" come into their town; organize "marches" and "demonstrations", disturb the "social order" and accuse the residents of being "racist". How would YOU feel about these "outsiders"? Much of the animosity against jews is a result of THEIR OWN activities and behavior.

Jews and the Left, Part 2
A little history: in WWII, 11% of the Jewish population was in uniform (just over 600,000 served). Jewish doctors between 25 and 40 years old had 60% in uniform. Jews demanded the right to stand guard at the Wall in New Amsterdam in 1654 and had Governor Peter Styvestant's refusal (he refused them the right, but then wanted to tax them to pay for someone else to stand watch) overturned by the Dutch West India Company. Haym Solomon was called the Financier of the Revolution (and died penniless). If you look at the Great Seal of the US on a $1 bill, note the formation of stars above the eagle. Washington is reputed to have demanded something in the seal to show what the Jews did for our freedom.

Conservatives understand that men need government (see Thomas Hobbes), but that government must be limited and watched.
"Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty" Daniel Webster. Utopians believe government doesn't need to be watched and will always be their friend.

And I see anti-Semitism as fear of the "other" and envy at what the "other" has done, despite limited resources.

Tim
I have never worshipped Abraham or Moses, either. They were men chosen by God to do certain things. Your point?

Jews and the Left, Part 1
As an American Jew, Airborne, Ranger, Field Artillery, conservative, NRA Life Member, I think many Jews are attracted to the Left because they search for Utopia (Justice, Justice, shall thou pursue.) Those Jews are blind to the reality that some people are in the game for the power, not the "good" that can be done. Old Soviet joke: Capitalism is where man oppresses man; communism is the reverse.

I see Utopians as seeking the Super Mommy and Daddy to feed, cloth, shelter and fund but not to give rules to adults, which is what they perceive themselves to be.

Sorry for the reverse order.

… … see their Christmas plays in their children's public schools, but if Jews want to not violate the Sabbath by pushing a button, they shouldn't complain at all.

=========

The Christmas story is part of our culture, so don’t dare prohibit that part of our culture.

If Jews do not want to violate their culture, that doesn’t give them the right to violate my culture. Those buttons are there to save lives, they are not religious buttons.

You can continue hating Arabs and Jews,
==========

You are nuttier than a fruitcake. I never said a thing about hating Arabs or Jews, I just said that if they want to live their culture, do it elsewhere, not in this wonderful country

culture, that violates our culture.

You lost me on the 'culture' post as you talk about Muslims and Jews in the same post. Please clarify.
=========

I am not talking about either race, I am talking about any culture, that violates our culture.

Tim
You are correct. I am incorrect. My apologies to Pope Pius XII. I did not write two versions of history and researched it before responding to you.

Summers !

Neither have I !

Your Point Anti-Catholic Slanderer !

Gunner
Thank you for your insight and the historical information.

At last, a good old-fashioned conservative Jew-hater checks in. I mean, all the evil inflicted on the Jews is because of...cue drumroll...the 'way they act.' So they all act the same way, huh?

People like you have been a part of the Right since its very beginning, and conservatism, rightly understood, should embody the hatred of Jews that is inherent in Christianity. In other words, if you're a Christian, your proper stance toward Jews should be one of hatred. If you're a conservative, your proper stance toward Jews should be one of hatred. If you're a Christian conservative you've scored twice!

Summers !

Tim apologizes for his snotty response to Summers , after Summers apologizes to Tim ,but before Summers apology post appears on Tim's Puter.

How Am I Doin' ?

Tim
The Holocaust Museum that Pope Benedict refused to visit during his recent ME tour states that, while in dispute, Pope Pius XII was 'The Silent Pope' when it came to the Holocaust.

We are singing from the same page, just different verses. Three Hail Mary's, Three Glory Be's and Three Our Father's will wash it all away.

An analogy for CA jim (18:28)
Parsis when they first came to India (specifically in Broach, "mainland" Gujarat) were sent a cup of sugar and a pitcher of water as a test of how well they would mix. The leading elders of these refugees, who understood something about it, took the sugar, mixed it with the water, stirred it and sent it back to the ruler--to show that they would (while not necessarily assimilating totally, as the Seleucid Macedonians had tried to achieve in their Hellenisation drive) actually improve the country where they settled--and actually have done so:
(*) Several of India's industrial houses were founded by Parsi families
(*) India's flag-airline Air-India was founded by a Parsi, who also happened to be its first pilot (nationalised in 1950's or 1960's by either awful Nehru or his termagant daughter)
(*) India's undisputedly best general--who had been Chief Of Army Staff in 1971, and who died last year aged 94--was a Parsi

Note: Jews in Europe generally mirrored Parsis in Sub-continent--never did they completely assimilate (they retained ceremonies/festivals) but almost invariably contributed positively to society.

By comparison, Muslims originally came to the country's south to trade and to the north to loot or conquer (and in the latter case, the people suffered under their bootheel--as many Muslim rulers liked indulging in forcible conversions, much to their own cost). Specifically, the world's Islamists see the era of forced conversions as a time of glory (though rulers of that era, even Aurangzeb the worst of the forced-converters, recognised through results that their policies were failures). The equivalent that Islamists would do if (hypothetically) given the same test as Parsis: they would have EATEN the sugar, and then DIRTIED the water (the culture which Islamists use as "gold-standard"? Degenerate Salafist Monarchy of Saudi Arabia).

Many, if not most, of the folks who have changed our 'culture' are atheists. How you would describe their 'culture' I haven't a clue.

I don't even know what to make of your post. On some level, I'm happy to see that you have the capability to not make stereotypes of entire religions at one. On the other hand, you use phrases like " their greedy blood sucking ways". Read "protocols" recently? And the Federal Reserve comment sounds awfully familiar (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,525825,00.html).

There are jews who are bright and jews who are dumb. Calculating, slow, brilliant, stupid, and everything in between. Members of the jewish faith are just like everyone else. To say otherwise begins to stereotype. . .

Jim #71
Hey Jim,
I'm a member of the Jewish faith, and I was born here. I went to college here. This is my home, and I have adapted to the culture here (well, I didn't know any other)—I eat, drink, and play here. Sure, I take off a few extra days a year (I take them from vacation) to celebrate my religion, though I work xmas (so you don't have to). Guess what? Most of us have assimilated, unless that means looking, acting, and praying exactly as you do, which is, well, un-American.

You assert that LA isn't as nice as it once was, and then somehow expect us to believe that it was because of judiasm? The current downfall of the city of LA is due to Shabbat elevators? You’ve got to be kidding me. Try thinking outside the box on that one.

Yes, there are some very religious jews who live amongst themselves in enclaves. As there are Christians. They are a small minority of the jewish population, and they certainly don’t speak for me—don’t use a small minority to represent the entire population.

Here’s a hint—some Muslims were born here. Most like it here and contribute to this country (here’s another hint—some serve their country). I think that it’s disgusting that you would expel anyone who volunteered to serve their country. I guess you support the troops so long as they’re not Muslim, eh? Nice slogan.

Summers They Are Liars !

During the Soviet Union's acts of aggression against Finland, the Winter War, Pius XII condemned the Soviet attack on 26 December 1939 in a speech at the Vatican. Later he donated a signed and sealed prayer on behalf of Finland.[128]

On 18 January 1940, after over 15,000 Polish civilians had been killed, Pius XII said in a radio broadcast, "The horror and inexcusable excesses committed on a helpless and a homeless people have been established by the unimpeachable testimony of eye-witnesses."[129]

In his first encyclical Summi Pontificatus (October 20, 1939), Pius XII publicly condemned the invasion, occupation and partition of Poland under the Nazi-Soviet Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

New York Times editorials called Pius XII "a lonely voice in the silence and darkness enveloping Europe this Christmas" in 1941[142] and "lonely voice crying out of the silence of a continent" in 1942.[143]

Same goes as for Jim—the overwhelming majority of all members of the jewish faith have assimilated. I am an American. I’m not an Israeli, and I don’t own an Israeli passport. I’ve assimilated (well, can one assimilate if you haven’t known anything else? I was raised on baseball and hotdogs, what am I missing?)

Was Sandy Koufax American enough for you? What more does Alan Greenspan need to do to assimilate? What about Mark Sptiz or Mark Zuckerburg? They seem, well, American to me. . .

I'm wondering how many members of the faith you actually know. . .

Jim #57
"What did the Jews do in Germany to create such hate?"

By asking that, you're saying that the Jewish people in Europe were essentially "asking for it" or somehow had it coming. We didn't do anything. Perhaps if we had stopped practicing our faith five thousand years ago the Romans, Babylonians, and many others through the Nazis wouldn't have picked on us? Perhaps, but I wonder if that's a price others on this board would be willing to pay. . .

Yawn! gestell again
"In other words, if you're a Christian, your proper stance toward Jews should be one of hatred. If you're a conservative, your proper stance toward Jews should be one of hatred." This pedant arrives once in awhile to tell us what our logical beliefs should be, then runs off avoiding all response. I am a Conservative Christian whose grandmother was Jewish. Now what should my proper stance be? Jews are just as American as anyone else, even converted ones. And Gestell is an idiot.

I grew up
nest door to a Jewish family, they were Orthodox and while the were somewhat apart their daughter played with all of us kids, and at Christmas when we Christian kids exchanged presents, she was included. We used to envy her thinking she got as many gifts in the 8 days that we got on the one. She wanted a christmas tree so much, as she came around to our homes to see ours; she was so excited when her Dad let her have a string of Christmas lights, I can't forget how happy she was when she showed us the lights. Her mother was the gentlest, kindest lady I've ever known and
the night she died broke my 8 year old heart.
I can remember praying so hard for her, and I still tear up thinking of her.
We had a violent strike and that family moved away when the mill moved south and another Jewish family moved in, they weren't Orthodox. Their two kids were part of the neighborhood gang, movie buddy's etc.
I guess what I am saying is, I just don't understand the hatred people have for the Jewish people.
Christians who have a problem with the Jewish people should remember that our Lord was born a Jew.
I don't believe Israel will be destroyed, battered maybe for a time but God has brought them through times when they were seriously outnumbered, miraculously from the day they entered the land of Canaan to the present. Her enemies will be scattered, not the Israeli's and we'd be wise if we remembered God's promise of blessing and curse. How individual Jews act
and are has nothing to do with the fact that
God chose them and it's his perogative to chastise those who have wandered away..not ours.

"A good example of this was the American "civil rights" movement of the 1950's and 1960's. Jews orchestrated, led and encouraged "civil disobedience" among blacks. This was not necessarily a "bad" thing "

The fact that the farthest you are willing to go in support of desegregation was to say that uncivil protest "was not necessarily a "bad" thing" I think tells everyone on this board where you stand. Richard Nixon would be proud--I guess (not matter how much I don't want to believe it) the southern strategy is still in play. . .

TeaParty
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences growing up--it's really only through first hand testimonials and interpersonal relationships that we can begin to cure the bigotry and hate that eats the underbelly of American society. Your neighbors sounded like wonderful people. . .

Tim
Ease up on it! I had to call Fr. Sam to tell him I had been called an anti-Catholic slanderer! When he stopped laughing, he 'splained to me the double history of Pope Pius and offered to bring some books by for me showing the different treatment he has received in history. (I am terminally ill/homebound.)

I have repeated to you what the holocaust museum has posted. If you read about Pope Benedict's visit, you will find it given as the reason he declined to visit the museum.

There is a wonderful documentary on the saving of Jewish children during the Holocaust called 'Lost Lives'. The now grown children are interviewed, as well as those parents and rescuers who lived through it. It is quite moving as, even though saved from death, the children lost so much in their lives.

Tim
P.S. I, also, learned that Pope Pius quite publicly asking for the Jews to be released as the Dutch Catholics had information that the more the Pope made their plight public, the more quickly the Nazi's moved against them.

You see what I have learned due to you today! Thanks.

Did Hitler really hate Jews or hate Communists and Marxists who just happened to be Jewish in Germany since Karl Marx was a Jew?

Not all jews in Germany (or anywhere else) were communists. Why target jews and not communists? Marx’s family converted to Christianity before he was born, so that doesn’t really work either.

The War Resisters League (WRL) was formed in the 1920's to discourage Military enlistments against Germany in WW I as they do to this day Who were the core of this group at that time according to their own Website, Jews and Communists.

I don’t have a ton of history on the period per se, but there’s something very fish here. An
