Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

WASHINGTON -- The setting invited comparisons to John F. Kennedy. The anniversary invited comparisons to Martin Luther King Jr. The stage invited comparisons to Zeus.

The remarks themselves invited comparisons to every Democratic stump speech of the last 20 years.

In substance, Barack Obama's convention speech could easily have been given by Al Gore or John Kerry -- and, in various forms, was given by Kerry and Gore. It was all in there: the lunchbox economic populism -- based on the assumption that most Americans are filling their lunchboxes with scraps from dumpsters. The attacks on corporations, millionaires and other sinister job creators. The touching faith in the power of diplomacy.

This is not to say that these themes are ineffective -- both Gore and Kerry almost became president with them. And these nominees did not possess even half of Obama's political skills.

In tone, Obama's big speech was small, partisan, often defensive and occasionally snide. "I've got news for you John McCain," he exclaimed. "We all put our country first." It was a pattern for the night: I'm not weak -- you are the one who hasn't killed bin Laden with your bare hands. I'm not inexperienced -- you are the one who is old and out of touch. None of this assault was made with grace or wit.

And some of the attacks were simply unfair. Is it really credible to blame McCain for a tripling of oil imports during his time as senator? What does it mean that McCain "won't even follow (bin Laden) to the cave where he lives"? That McCain is cowardly? That he knows where bin Laden hides, and won't tell the rest of us? That he doesn't believe in fighting al-Qaeda?

In craft, Obama's speech was aggressively unexceptional, as if he set out to be unmemorable. The applause lines were generally flat: "Enough!" "We are a better country than this!" There was little effective humor. Ronald Reagan drew lines from Clint Eastwood movies: "Go ahead, make my day." Obama drew his tag line -- "Eight is enough" -- from a 1970s sitcom. (The song, you might remember, goes, "Eight is enough to fill our lives with love.")

In delivery, of course, Obama was masterfully confident -- which increasingly seems like the self-assurance of a man who believes mainly in himself.

By the last firework of the Democratic convention, Obama's transformation was complete. He had systemically taken the advice of every cynical, hard-edged Democratic political consultant. Get rid of the airy, cerebral rhetoric. Pitch your message to the focus groups, not the historians. Go for the old man's jugular.

In the process, opportunities were lost. Obama said nothing interesting about race in America, at a moment when that might have been expected. He made no serious outreach to religious conservatives, something that now seems more like a ploy than a project. He offered no creative policy proposals that might transcend partisan divisions. In fact, his message ran with perfect smoothness along old partisan grooves. That is genuinely disappointing. A Democrat who wins in this fashion will be unable to rein in the inevitable excesses of the Democratic Congress. And the inevitable counter-reaction of Republicans will leave Washington, once again, a World War I battlefield of trenches and grudges.

Some illusions have also been lost. For many Americans, the exciting young candidate who won the Iowa caucuses had the promise of being a new kind of politician entirely -- better than and different from the political norm of bitterness and calculation. Those hopes now seem -- in the words of a famous Democrat -- like a "fairy tale." In this convention, Obama "matured" into the spitting image of the typical Democratic politician. And this raises a question about Obama himself. Between Iowa and Denver there is little consistency except talent and ambition. Is there anything more to this candidate than talent and ambition?

It is the conventional wisdom that this transformation is politically brilliant: In an election year of massive voter discontent, a Democrat who sounds like a Democrat will surely win.

That may be correct. But Obama seems determined to test the theory in full. The Democratic ticket consists of two of the most ideological liberals in the United States Senate. It includes no reasonable governor, no candidate with Southern roots, no member with a military background (for the first time in decades). And now it offers the purest message of partisan aggression and class resentment.

Let the depressing battle begin.

The Unholy Christian (Imposter) Obama
It is prophetic that in the very scripture that Obama cited to Rick Warren at the Saddleback Civil Forum interviews, while making yet another attempt to moralize the faults of America, he chose one that places that very condemnation upon his own evil and hard heartedness.

Ever the chameleon, now posing as a Christian, he quoted Jesus Christ [Matt. 25] in another of his unrelenting attemps to criticize America, saying: "That basic principle applies to poverty. It applies to racism and sexism. It applies to...you know...not having--not thinking about providing ladders of opportunity for people to get into the Middle Class...we still don't spend enough time thinking about the least of these..."

Yet this same man shrugs his shoulders and advocates AGAINST any ladders of opportunity being provided for defenseless, helpless, innocent babies?

Like Tonto said to the Lone Ranger...I say to the Lone STRANGER--whatcha' mean WE "Wright" man?

He claims that the people that say these awful things about him being in favor of the sacrifice of the lives of innocent babies [the least of these] on the altar of abortion rights, are lying. Unfortunately for him, the record of his guilt is available for all to see, proving who the real liar is.

Increasingly, this "holy" imposter makes reference to scriptures in his speeches. Last night he had the audacity to call upon the American people to be "our brother's keepers" while his OWN brother languishes in abject poverty on $1 a-month!! Folks, that's $12 a-year!! Brother's keeper? Give me a break.

Before making a mockery of the scriptures, Obama would do well to take a lesson from Proverbs 17:7:

"Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool--how much worse lying lips to a ruler!"

or Proverbs 18:6-7:

"A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul."

Same Old,Same Old
Obama hit his high water mark last night. He is repeating everything every other Democrat has said since Jimmy Carter in'76.It really does get old after 32 years.Bill Clinton at least had a plan, and was very good at getting that across to the voters.Obama obviously does not have a plan. From here on,he will look like an empty suit.Anyone that is looking for real solutions to real problems won't pay any attention to him.He cannot convince independant, non partisan voters that he is worthy of their vote.John McCain is a problem solver, and that's what people really want.

about obama!
Years ago they spotted an exceptional, brilliant man with lots of confidence and charisma and decided that he would be the "one". Secretively, they hired handlers and agents aimed at molding this man into exactly what they wanted, and he didn't disappoint! Since then, they have been working on this "perfect" candidate.... The rest is history. Don't think for a minute that "he" hasn't been being groomed for this moment for the past twenty (or so) years. As we geared up for the 2008 election, the (sold out) media geared up to make this junior senator from Chicago with a checkered past AND a spotty voting record AND a bit short on accomplishments AND a total lack of experience, the greatest thing since sliced bread.... Now their labors have come to fruition. This is their product.... From the fake "presidential" icon on his lectern to the "Roman" columns on stage during his "great speech".... The Clinton's have been quieted by "the party". now they're all for obama, when just a few short months ago, they said he was unfit for leadership.... How much more obvious do you want it?? What more need I say?? Why does the "media" love him so?? Because they are being paid to do so!! "he" is the product of years of grooming and coaching. AND, it's working!! A lot of people are being fooled by this smooth talking, charismatic, well groomed, good looking, brilliant fake man that they have created... Hopefully the American people will be astute in spotting a "fake" when they see one! So far, it looks to me like the more they are able to study this "counterfeit" the more they see through it!! obama is the cubic zirconium the shady politicians want you to buy!! Don't be fooled!!

Is it now Afternoon in America?
Obama's speech "in various forms WAS given by Kerry or Gore"....Watching Fox, I found it enlightening when the pundits were talking about exerpts of the speech beforehand...The consensus was that is was "nothing new"...Dick Morris cuts it up before it's delivered...AFTER it's delivered, he says it was a "Great speech". I saw Kerry in his attack dog mode. I saw Gore speak, like Gore...I heard all of he dems speak. There were only two that were great speakers. One was the 42nd POTUS... Bringing words to life is a true gift with HUGE impact. America's feeling like we're "going in the wrong direction". It's not about ideology. It's the 1980 election in reverse and on steroids. 38 MILLION homes watched this. 38 Million.

Yes, we need change and now, but....
The truly educated will always be humble for they know they know relatively little. They would always be humbled by the responsibility of being a President.
Claiming to be a Christian, why does Obama think that Iraqi's are not neighbors in the biblical sense. True, many have died-but from Iranian and Al Queda attempts to stop the formation of a democracy in the middle of the Middle East. Saddam was unquestionably worse than Hitler and used WMD and we just moved 550 metric tons of yellow cake from Iraq to Canada. A true monster in history.

I think Bush could have done more, but it is the media that convinced we did wrong in Iraq, when in fact we did wonders and stopped all terrorist acts in our Country for a time. We should be proud of ourselves as American's for living the true "purposeful life" for we have saved many and given freedom to more.

Finally, how can Obama claim Christianity when he uses lies, deceit and inflammatory words to manipulate our people. Jesus never lied yet Obama freely uses these methods toward his ends. How can so many be put to sleep?

I am truly sad for my people and for Obama in not believing in another life after this one.

FDR "I hate waar, Fala hates waar,
Elenore hates waar. I have been in waar and I have been in Elenore. I prefer waar."

I've been in hell and then there is Michelle...hmmmm

Sorry Komrade Oblahma
I couldn't vote for you to be dogcatcher in Bolivia! Your ideas have been tested and failed in the USSR and many other little satelite countries. China has more de facto free enterprise today than we do. The BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) have been steadily moving towards entrepreneurial freedom (with astonishing results) while you want to take us into bankrupcy and mediocrity.
Your ideas have also been implemented in California (financially, economically, morally and spiritually bankrupt)and states like MI, OH,PA, IL, all well on the way to meet bankrupt CA with a credit rating worse than that of Bolivia!

Obama's Song
The song that Obama plays when he comes out to speak is a song by U2 called “The city of blinding light”.

The first verse is "The more you see the less you know, the less you find out as you go." I think Obama plays that to make fun of the fools who
follow him blindly

Frauds vs. the Real Deal
It is becomming more and more apparent that Barack Obama is a fraud. One thing Gore, Kerry, and Obama have in common is they all are frauds.

We have the real deal in the McCain-Palin ticket. He has come through the greatest suffering ever dealt to a warrior. A maverick, yes, but certainly not a fraud.

Sarah Palin also is the real deal, a woman who has fought the good fight all her life, steadfastly adhering to her convictions.

Look at the picture of her and family on Drudge. Look at the shot of her little daughter, arms crossed, looking very grim. You know what she's thinking?

"Now you have my mother to contend with!"

PRICELESS!

Obama isn't Kennedy! And ....
Obama isn’t Kennedy! And, besides I did not think Kennedy was much either. Make Kennedy a "god" if you so desire. However, I think if he had been President longer, he would have been the first "Carter"!

OK all you Kennedy worshipers throw your best rocks at me! Will not change my opinion!

Obama is certainly #1
in the Department of Arrogance. In my long loife, I do not remember a major politician with nearly as much chutzpuh. And my Bible says, "Pride goes before the fall." There are few things that God hates more than this.

Obama is no MLK
How disappointing that what should have been a speech befitting such a historical event (and setting) was given by one who seems to believe in little except his own over-blown self-importance.

Obama had the opportunity to show that he appreciates that which is good about of our wonderful country and to acknowledge the advances that have been made during the last forty years. Instead he continued his divisive politically-motivated rhetoric which concentrated on America's fault and confirmed his intolerance of many of her people. But then of course, we have already begun to realize that Obama is no Martin Luther King, Jr. or John F. Kennedy.

obama-found -osamas cave
THE obama-man went there osama invited him in gave him a welcome hug,the drank some kind of strange tea, smoked something that obama-man brought with him from south side if chicago, well done said osama to young barack.diamond usa

Transformation
Why shouldn't Obama feel confident? He brought almost nothing to the debates and came out a winner. He knew he could count on the left wing to accept him and elevate him with free advertisement.Even the Clintons were kicked to the curb.

When one is worshipped, primed and pampered, yet have done nothing to deserve it,it's almost like it was meant to be. Prophesied, even.Obama is a willing puppet and will perform for whoever pulls his strings. We all know who is doing the pulling.

Good Posts Here
Call Obama what you will: fraud, phony, cameleon, now-you-see-it, now-you-don't reflection of your fantasies--it's all too true.

Will the average voter have the fortitude to grow up and face reality? Or will the bread-and-circuses crowd fall, once again, for the Dem (and too often Pub) nanny-state promises?

Palin thrills, even tho her knowledge and skills are relatively untested, because her character is not.

Barack dismays because in tests of character he has been found wanting.

"New Politician"
Mr. Gerson says: "For many Americans, the exciting young candidate who won the Iowa caucuses had the promise of being a new kind of politician entirely -- better than and different from the political norm of bitterness and calculation"
Obama was never anything but the typical far left politician trying to hoodwink the uninformed populace--and he, with the help of the MSM has done a good job. Unfortunately, too many regular folks fail to read between the lines, and the politicians and others who have axes to grind are only too anxious to hoodwink the public for their own ends.

Not only is this guy a fraud, he and what he represents is dangerous to this country. Heaven help us if he is elected.

Character

Character(Palin has it)trumps inexperience .
Inexperience(Obama has it)and no character

Mercy
We do pray for mercy for Obama who USES God's word for his political benifit.

TruthHurts
Your right! 38 million homes watched Obama give the same tired crap that has been past down over the last 30 something years. 38 million homes saw nothing that was not already poured down thier throats before. It was the evil Bush and his big Oil buddys! WrongWar! Wrong Time! Fear! Fear! Fear! This is the Truth that hurts worse: Obama said that he was different and new, but acted in the same manner he says needs to change. 38 million saw the same ol' same'ol!

Americans Get It - Poor BHO
The more Obama says McCain doesn't get it, the more americans get it. Americans now know that Obama does not have any solutions for this country, he only has speeches. Given the greek god setting, one expected the 'one' to give us some details about how he will accomplish his 'long list of goodies'. And he lived up to our expectations of empty speeches. HRC said 'speeches don't put food on the table'. McCain has an american hero story and Obama has 'speeches'. Even McCain's VP has an american life story that makes Obama's resume even thiner. Consider this, in her 15 minute acceptance speech, Governor Palin made Obama's 45 minute made in a greek god setting acceptance speech at the DNC seem like very old news. After listening to Sarah Palin for 15 minutes I could tell you who she is, what she has done, and what she plans to do for McCain (i.e. take the campaign to all states and ask for the votes of all americans dems. republicans and people with no party affiliation). That is the change we have have been waiting for - articulate, specific, and ALL american....not pretending to be american.

Sarah is Right
Obama's speech was, contrary to Dick Morris's incredible praise, indeed depressing. Sarah, above, points up the contrast between Barack and Gov. Sarah Palin--what a difference Something Truly Beautiful makes!

Using only notes and no teleprompter, Mrs Palin got our attention, bigtime.

She indulged in a little hubris (allowing that she "delivered" a nice anniversary present to her husband). But that's OK, for now. I'm going to give someone that beautiful a lot of slack for a long time.

A day in politics, even a minute nowadays, can be a long, long time. But my guess is that Sarah Palin's character might well, before all is said and done, supercede McCain's!

What a Shining Example she comes across as. Family. Deep, lived out spiritual principles. Creativity and Courage and Consistent High-mindedness. She rocks and will help McCain to win and win big.

Folks, all folks, will be better off with McCain and Palin. Gerson's article just fleshes out the pathetic truth about Senator Obama and what the Dems stand for.

Obama Is Not An American
America: Land of Opportunity. Own a home: realize the American dream. Obama criticizes an American that has seized opportunity and owns more than one home--John McCain. John McCain has paid his dues, he has fought for the Land of Opportunity and been crippled in the process, he has acquired several homes by his wise use of his and his wife's wealth. John McCain is no product of Affirmative Action, he is no puppet to the Socialist left, he is an American hero. Socialism is not the American dream; it is the destroyer of that dream. I know of no one that has legally bought a home using a welfare check. Obama just does not understand his own country and neither do any of you confessed Obama supporters on this board.

Regaining Our Moral Compass-Palin

I think Gov. Palin is JUST what the doctor ordered to assure that the most dangerous threat that America has ever faced is NOT realized.

An Obama presidency would be not only economically and morally devasting to our society and way of life, but would give our enemies the morale and confidence they seek to embolden them to wage war against us.

With a McCain-Palin administration, our country will regain its moral compass.

With an Obama presidency (and its embrace of abortion & homosexuality), our enemies and detractors would be convinced (understandably) of our complete loss of the same. Leaving us much more vulnerable as a result.

Vice president Palin will have at least 4 years to learn the ins-and-outs of foreign policy, while the Islamists and Russians will know that in McCain, they will have to deal with a man who commands their respect by virtue of his superior knowledge of foreign policy issues, the military, and military affairs...a Naval Academy graduate and combat veteran at the helm, will give them some pause before engaging in open confrontation with the United States of America.

I am sure now, that with this selection of VP, McCain is finally playing to win!! Thank God.

In these dangerous times, we cannot afford to become an Obamanation in the eyes of the world.

Own Your Failure!!!
That was one of the best moments of Obama's speech the other night but you poor Repubs just can't bring yourselves to do it. The last eight years have been an unmitigated disaster. Real Americans are horrified by this Administration's attacks on the Constitution and willingness to cheapen many important roles of government by hiring unqualified, ideological hacks.

And, of course, the only thing you do on this board is continue to drink the Repub kool-aid and dutifully repeat all the talking points. Any time I see or hear the word "socialist" I know it is just another spouting of talking points that have no basis in reality.

You're following up the worst President ever with a man who is horribly confused either because he is so old or because he has changed positions on everything he has ever believed in. On top of that he commits the biggest act of pandering ever in politics by choosing a woman who two years ago was mayor of a town of 8,500 and who has spent pat of her time in office trying to get her former brother-in-law fired. Nice party you've got there!

Own your failure!

Drilling for Commonsense
I wonder why all these Barack butt boys don't mention that Palin is governor of Alaska. Instead they just mention she was mayor of a small town in Alaska. Hmm.

To the socialists and Barack boosters: Be afraid, be very afraid.

Perhaps you will be in the political wilderness for another eight years and the country will flourish as a result because of realistic leadership by Republicans who believe in a strong economy driven by realistic energy development offshore--and in Alaska--and a strong, forward looking defense of America.

If only we could drill into liberal brains and find a little commonsense...(sigh).

Communist Goals for America 1963

I have the 45 goals the Communists have for America, that was read into the Congressional Record in 1963. You will be amazed at how the Communists have succeeded by 2008 - 45 years later. I have listed five (5) examples
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Communist Goals (1963) Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963
Current Communist Goals EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Thursday, January 10, 1963 .

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

Retired Geek
Once again, you inspire me with your brilliant research acumen.

...but be careful

...we resemble those remarks!!

Everything That Glitters....
.....is not gold. An old song and the title of an article last week. All too true, also. All the pomp of last weeks 'annointing'of the 'little messiah'can not take away the true nothingness of the man.

He has nothing to offer the country except disaster if he gets any of the programs he has promised us. He has even threated us about what he will do . Is nobody listening?

The left is hoping for a Category Five Hurricane to hit La.this week because they think and hope it will hurt the Republican Party. Can anything be lower than that?

They care nothing about the death and destruction that will result from the storm,as long as the Democrat Party gets some talking points from it. La.residents should be incensed at such rhetoric.

Republicans have been blamed for three year for the disaster caused by the Democrat Party who took no incentive at the approaching Katrina after three days of warnings.

They waited for the Feds to come in and do the job the locals should have done. Also, the levee structures had money allocated for repair years ago and the Democrat locals spent the money on other things.

It is time the Democrats admit their candidate is a puppet of the ultra-left. Not all Democrats are that far left. McCain/Palin will show the charlatan for what he is.

Eight Year Disaster?
Six years of fantastic economic growth with a predictable slowdown in the last two years!

That is some record of economic failure!

Seven years without another major terrorist attack!

Another failure?

Listening in on terrorist's threats was shredding of constitution!

Hey Badgerboy even BO, the "will filibuster any telecom amnesty" @ss, saw what a loser this one is and voted for, for, for telecom amnesty. All those like you with termnial BDS got thrown under the bus on this one!

"Can't drill our way out of energy crisis!" "Saving the planet by preventing any offshore drilling!" Sounds like a disaster of a platform.

Baggerboy you've been drinking kos kool-aid way to long.

BTW: Did Ray "flooded school buses" Nagen just order an evacuation of New Orleans. Did this dope learn from his complete Katrina failure?
W might have been slow but he was not completely missing in action like mayor get my family out first Nagen.

Of course being liberal and black means never owning up to anything! BO must have been taking notes!

What has Nobama ever done???
He talks about change why hasn't he ever participated in any? No legislation with his name on it for the good of the American people. What has he ever done for America. In his speeches you hear the words American people this the American people that... since when did he ever have his finger on the pulse of the nation? Never that's when. Never lifted a finger for "the west". And never will. It still comes right back to that. He is un-convincing that he can do anything except sign Nancy Pelosi's radical agenda.

Great Expectations Were Let Down
The Obama campaign shouldn't have bragged so much about how this was going to be Obama's defining moment and the speech was going to be phenomyinal. Obama was to go into detail and clarify for us, once and for all, what changes he'd been campaigning on. People were expecting to walk away with a clear, logical explanation of his tax plans, his energy plans, his judicial appointment criteria, etc. All we heard was more of the same. No mention of MLK and the achievements that have been made since those days; no recognition at all. The speech was a disappointment on many different levels.

Hey Jag
If you are talking about our national debt, then you are completely correct-we have achieved tremendous growth. A "slowdown"? How naive can you be? But continue to vote against your own economic self-interests as long as you like. But tell me again how borrowing money from China to buy gas from the Middle East while we ship our jobs to India is a good thing? And tell me how the fact that the value of the dollar has dropped 45% over the past six years is a good thing?

According to your "logic", on September 10, 2001, you would have said that we were very safe here because we hadn't had a terrorist attack since the original WTC bombing in 1993. In fact, I'm sure you were giving Clinton a great deal of credit for preventing any further terrorist attacks, right?

The truth is that attacking the US on our soil is and has always been an incredibly difficult thing. Why would terrorists want to try to come here and blow up US citizens when they can just go to Iraq and Afghanistan and blow up our soldiers there? We've made it so much easier for them.

If you are looking for disasters, here is a partial list: Iraq, lies to get us into Iraq, Afghanistan, the rise of Iran due to our wars in the middle east, Hamas taking power in Palestine, torture, waterboarding, lack of habeas corpus, no bid contracts, wastes of money in Iraq, signing statements, firing US attorneys, Miers, Gonzales, Goodling, Mukasey, DOJ, Katrina, etc. Are we winning the war on terror by creating more terrorists?

Of course Bush wasn't missing in action during Katrina-he was giving McCain a birthday cake. He played politics with the situation since the governor of LA was a Democrat and he wanted to push her around. But Brownie sure did a heckuva job, didn't he?

Your last lines tell me all I really need to know about you. You are racist and scared, Enjoy going through life that way.
