Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

The national conventions are political shows staged to influence voters.

Soon, we can measure the bounce that the two tickets have received from their gatherings. But the more important question is whether the conventions establish arguments that are sustainable -- over the course of the campaign and, for the winning ticket, over four years of governance. Four years ago, John Kerry's convention produced a narrative that proved unsustainable.

George W. Bush's convention produced one that was sustainable until Katrina and the 2005-06 meltdown in Iraq -- yet that may be redeemed in history by the success of the surge and the rapid response to Gustav.

One of the themes hammered home at Barack Obama's convention was McCain equals Bush. That never struck me as sustainable and was pretty well demolished on the first full day of McCain's convention. Neither Obama nor McCain is a generic candidate -- they are distinctive individuals, to whose specific characteristics voters respond, positively or negatively.

The Republican convention's premise is that McCain is the maverick reformer -- an American version of Nicolas Sarkozy, who replaced an unpopular president of his own party. There is plenty in McCain's record to back that up. Not least is his selection of Sarah Palin for vice president. Palin's record of successfully battling establishment Republicans and oil companies in Alaska clearly appealed to McCain.

And that was amplified by the mainstream media attacks on her. Now the media, which were not alarmed by Obama's thin record, is worried about Palin being a heartbeat away from the presidency. Other women who were stay-at-home moms for years and then emerged into public life have outperformed their resumes -- namely, Katharine Graham, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Madeleine Albright, Nancy Pelosi and Geraldine Ferraro. Palin, who has negotiated a natural gas pipeline with the oil companies and Canadian federal, provincial and Inuit authorities, may do so, too. We'll see if that argument is sustainable.

Voters express great dissatisfaction with the economy, even though it grew 3.3 percent in the last quarter. The Obama convention contended that the Democratic nominees understood people's woes from personal experience and that their programs would provide economic security. But the substance of those programs -- refundable tax credits (i.e., payments to those who pay no income tax) and a national health insurance option -- are unfamiliar to voters, and their details can be hard to explain.

The McCain convention's thesis is that higher taxes on high earners in a time of slow growth will squelch the economy (this was Herbert Hoover's policy, after all).

These assertions, too, are unfamiliar to voters. And, up to this point in the campaign, neither party has set out its programs clearly (or characterized the other side's fairly).

During the course of the year, two issues have unexpectedly turned in favor of the Republicans. One is Iraq: It is becoming plain that the surge has succeeded, and victory is in sight. McCain can argue he was right; Obama can argue it is safe to leave, as he has long urged. But the issue has lost much of its salience.

The other issue is energy. Four-dollar-a-gallon gas has produced majorities for offshore drilling, which McCain now favors and Palin always has, and which Obama and Joe Biden still dismiss as insignificant. Despite the recent drop in gas prices, the Republican position looks more sustainable to me, likely to trump the Democrats' quasi-religious fervor for renewable energy sources. Al Gore's speech was well received in Denver, but voters are not prepared to accept the sharp economic sacrifices he demands.

This election cycle has been full of surprises and unpredicted turns. Both candidates' vice presidential choices tended to undercut, at least marginally, their basic themes of change and experience. The political fundamentals -- an unpopular president, a sluggish economy, an unpopular war -- still favor the Democrats. But my sense is that the Democratic meme is less sustainable than the Republican' appeal. Which leaves things roughly tied.

What 'sustains'...
... in the minds of many is Reverend Wright. A tie-breaker. Memes be dam*ed!

As for John Kerry's convention, what it produced was a candidate -- not a narritive -- that proved unsustainable.

Character, not characteristics, is what counts. Obama might be better off with some generic characteristics. Some character would go a long way, too.

Economy
I remember the late 70's early 80's, now that was bad economy! We also need to realize that Americas unemplyment rate is still better than most of the world even now. The economy is a global problem right now. McCain may not be perfect, but I would rather have a President who will work for us as well as believe in us as a strong and resilient people than a President who thinks we are stupid and needs the Government and him to take care of all our needs!

Convention Themes
One thing that resonated throughout the Democratic convention was the lament about high gas prices...... and yet both Biden and Obama oppose drilling off shore, Anwar - etc. They contend it would not help in the immediate need, on the other hand, delaying doing nothing (as the Democrats have done for too many years) simply prolongs the problem. Neither party has a monopoly on hyperbole, but at least now, the head of the Republican Party - John McCain - is willing to stick his neck out and accept some of the responsibility for what ails the present government. One party (Dems) love to say that in the almost 8 years of Bush Administration, we have not prospered - but they don't point out that they have had two years of total control of both houses - and instead of passing good legislation for the benefit of the country, they have spent months on partisan nit-picking. Hopefully, McCain/Palin will be able to do what they promise.

Obama's Stalinist tactics
Obama threatened to seize "profits from big oil" (like Exxon/Mobile: XOM stock symbol) and place them into the US treasury (to give back to the middle-class) Doesn't Obama realize Americans OWN XOM (like I do) and that he would be unlawfully stealing from the American People who own shares of XOM in their retirement portfolios? Where does it stop? This dangerous thinking gives us a true glimps at what tyrants like Hugo Chavez of Venezuela do--and obama appears ready to do the same thing if we are to take his threat seriously! This is spooky, folks and scares me very much.

I never got a job from a poor person
It's said that the economy is the biggest issue in '08. That's good for the G.O.P. because economic populism can be played on both sides of the political street. Even better, current economic conditions favor the G.O.P. message.

For example, Sen. Obama wants to give away tax dollars to people who don't pay taxes while raising taxes on people who create jobs. I don't know about you, but I've never gotten a job from someone who doesn't pay taxes.

Sen. Obama wants you to stop buying gasoline because he thinks you're destroying the planet, so he's going to make sure that gas prices continue to go up and up and up. But high gas prices are hurting American families and putting the American Dream out of reach. Do we really have to give up the American Dream to save the planet, or is there a way to take care of both the environment and our families?

Sen. Obama wants to hand your healthcare over to the bureaucrats in Washington D.C., who will take many of your healthcare choices away from you and your family. And he's going to have to raise your taxes to pay all of the bureaucrats in Washington D.C., but you're not going to get any more health care in the bargain than you're already paying for right now. More taxes, less choices, and the same healthcare. That's not change that we can believe in. There must be a better way.

Etc.

"Tie goes to the runner"?
So, it'll come down to which of the two teams is at bat come the last inning?

Or does good pitching stop good hitting?

Seems that the "D" team is played out. Long season for the Democrats. Their candidate has had to stand a lot of games and his arm seems to stammer in the release. Might be one performance away from a Dave Dravecky moment.

"R" team has the wily vet throwing after nearly getting benched during the road games. He's back with new reliever and a throw that isn't a fast ball but comes out like fast pitch when he answers the call-up.

Stats may favor "D" team this year but the taint of association with bad players of the past haunts the "D's" big player. Additionally, "D" star making lots of promises that most see as bunt while economy stuck on third.

"R's" pennant clinch was impressive show and fans amped up for series finale.

McCain set to blast big ball while Palin slides head first home.

Looks 'natural.'

"Hurricane" Sarah
With only a couple of national appearances, Gov. Palin has ressucitated the Republican party, ignited the passions of a too long "silent majority" of middle America and has the liberals, MSM, democrats and assorted evil doers (NAACP, NOW, ACORN, Abortiuonists, NEA etc.) scurrying like cockroaches in the middle of the night, exposed to sudden light.
Bottom line is
Approval ratings : Gov.Palin - 83%
Pres. Bush : 30%
Reid/Pelosi - 9%

Barone lapses back into swigging koolaid
Ludicrous comment:

"George W. Bush's convention produced one that was sustainable until Katrina and the 2005-06 meltdown in Iraq -- yet that may be redeemed in history by the success of the surge and the rapid response to Gustav."

I don't think so Michael.

Take the ridiculous point about Bush reaction to Gustav erasing the disastrous handling of Katrina(and in fairness to Bush this was a significant responsibility of local and state government..but when it became evident they were not up to the task, the federal gov't should have been prepared to step in, and it wasn't).

Gustav did not wreak nearly the destruction as Katrina, and I just don't see how government response to that storm somehow excuses what happened during Katrina.

On Iraq, a murderous Sunni thug was forcibly removed by the U.S.

When Iraqis held elections the Shia majority voted in a theocratic Shia government that openly is working to solidify closer relations to Iran. In fact, Iran holds much more influence among Iraqi Shias in the south than does the government in Baghdad.

The Kurds in north Iraq reject the idea of being ruled by a government in Baghdad. Erbil, the Kurds provincial capital, actually bans the national Iraqi flag, and allows only the Kurdish flag to fly.

So the surge and government reaction to Gustav are to redeem the Bush administration?

Don't think so.

Iraq will eventually come apart, with Kurds having their own state in the north, and southern Iraq absorbed into a greater Shia based Iran.

Regardless of the outcome on Iraq, the looming costs in trillions of dollars will adversely affect our economy and American living standards for generations.

Sorry, Michael, No $ale.

BS
I realize that you tried to be somewhat in favor of the Republicans but nearly everything in this column is wrong.

- George W. Bush's convention produced one that was sustainable until Katrina and the 2005-06 meltdown in Iraq -- yet that may be redeemed in history by the success of the surge and the rapid response to Gustav.

Katrina and Iraq were a media hit job on Bush, A media that you and your magazine are a large part of. The Katrina mess was the fault of LA Democrats and New Orleans idiots who have raised to expect the government to wipe their *ss for them.

- Voters express great dissatisfaction with the economy, even though it grew 3.3 percent in the last quarter.

Well I wonder why that is? Could it be because the media tells them the economy is bad everyday? These same “polls” say that they all feel like their situation is OK but everyone else is in bad shape. What does that tell you Barone?

- refundable tax credits (i.e., payments to those who pay no income tax) and a national health insurance option -- are unfamiliar to voters….

Hahahaha, voters are very familiar with these programs. They are called “welfare” and the Vomit supporters are all for it, as long sa they don’t have top pay for it.

- The McCain convention's thesis is that higher taxes on high earners in a time of slow growth will squelch the economy (this was Herbert Hoover's policy, after all).

BS, while true that FDR’s initial actions were those proposed by Hoover, the “high taxes” part of the “tax and spend” strategy were straight FDR.

If it were not for the media being in the Commie's pocket they would never win an election.

Dissatisfaction with the economy
is often based upon the dissatisfaction with how much less money buys today and high taxes. I find most people do not understand that it is the growth of government (on many levels) and the increase in litigation over the past 40 years that has lead to the current expense of living. A common assessment is , "The economy is bad. Its the war in Iraq". No thinking involved, just a simple accusation that feels right coming out. So they'll vote for bigger government to "fix" what bigger government causes.

Wow.
Wow, here I am in a conservative comment area. I came to find out just what conservatives say when they are among themselves. My first impression is, "Not much." Only ten comments so far--I'm used to 300+ on the many other comments areas I've visited. Hmmmm...

My second impression came when I tried to post. This is the ONLY comment area I've ever visited taht required your FULL contact information, including your address. Wow. So you can't express your opinion unless you are willing to accept getting put on a mailing list? Wow, wow, wow.

Lastly, "change"? The only change that has changed is McCain's rhetoric on change! Take your blinkers off, folks. You know full well McCain did NOT put country first when he chose Palin--he put politics first. And you know full well she is NOT prepared to take his place--they aren't even letting her talk to the media, even the FAVORABLE media! Wow, she's sure her "own man," huh? Totally controlled by the party message manipulators...just like McCain.

Wow.

Phillip the Dumb
You come here early on a Saturday morning at a column that was posted at roughly midnight and expect 300 comments. I know you lames are dumb but come on. I guess what Ann C. says is really true….If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans.

A Thin Article Barone
You mentioned a couple of topics that are winners for the Repubs but none for the Demos. Barack Hussein offers free. You name it, it will be free. That is where the rub starts. When it comes to free, it isn't. It might not cost money to some of those who receive it but will cost the rest of us enormously huge. And it will not only be money, it will be many many more steps to socialism and marxism. Look how far we have come in that direction with the help of FDR, Truman, LBJ, and the libs in Congress - of which there are too many to cover. Jorge Bush is guilty of a few also. That is our future.

Phillip
This article is such a "Blatant" lie, that any comment, betrays it. Mr.Barone, I will not read your future articles. May God bless you and your family. One more article, such as this and I will discontinue my association with Townhall.com...

killer-Phillip

killer writes: "One more article, such as this and I will discontinue my association with Townhall.com..."

Yeah right, killer, and Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin and all the other liberal loons are now residents of France and Canada, just as they similarly promised.

Why don't you and Phillip surprise us and actually head off to the DailyKos, Huffington Post or Democratic Underground, never to return. I, for one, will not miss either of you.

Or was your promising statement also a "Blatant" lie?

What libs. find disturbing here
that they can revel in so much on lefty posts is no f-words or scatologies and blasphemies, which serve for the opposition's sophisticated and nuanced factual counterarguments that they use to amuse each other in their ripostes to the right.

What the left finds here are people who support tradition, authority, fidelity among friends and families, usually reasonable methods of debate or disagreement, and actual readers who comprehend what other people post.

Why killer and robert and others spend so much time on TH is a little disconcerting, as they contribute little but bile or their so-called cosmopolitan disdain for the peasants who inhabit some lower position among their circle of the blessed, who is *us*, those bitter Bible thumpers hiding out in our caves in PA and hugging our guns against the historical march of socialism and Marxism.

They should get happier. The Reps. just offered them the real Am. dream, which is not high taxation and more welfare, but the chance to achieve on one's own, like John McCain and Sarah Palin, and their offer to make gov't serve instead of direct and impose.

I don't know how much of a dent they can make in some DC bureaucracies that are as ossified as petrified rock I'm not sure, but Mac has a proven record of trying and that's infinitely preferable to the B-O ticket, which promises more costly re-runs of the 30s and 60s that they seemed to be immoveably mired in.

Not quite even...
High-cost gas in the face of the Dems' obstruction to increasing the supply is a plus for the Republicans.

A Marxist hollow man leading a ticket with an old-time insider who had to drop out early for lack of votes in two bids for the presidency is no match for our hero/reformer ticket.

The Dems' old "soak the rich" plan isn't going to sit well with American businesses. Shades of a Jimmy Carter style recession are depressing.

If the economy is as weak as the media portrays it, increasing taxes on the highest income levels will drop it even worse.

People are realizing more and more how the left-leaning media are pushing Obama on them and are trashing America's new political heroine. That will rally them to the McCain/Palin side.

As for Killer and Phillip, I don't think either of you will be missed on Townhall. As one who posts infrequently, I get a little nauseous when I see posts like yours.

CLINTON'S DENVER SPEECH & LBJ'S BIRTHDAY
Excerpt from Bill Clinton's Denver Speech and LBJ's Centennial. Signs of Democratic Defeat.

"Among the many ominous signs of Obama’s fate in November-investigated in my Indispensable Hillary Clinton and Jackie Kennedy’s Camelot Jinx-we saw a glaring one last week when Bill Clinton gave his convention speech in Denver. For as Barack Obama failed to follow JFK’s example and pick his rival for VP Bill Clinton by an astonishing twist of fate spoke on the 100th anniversary of LBJ’s birth. In other words, the spouse of the woman who would have ensured Obama’s electoral success spoke on the centennial birthday of the running mate that made JFK President. An unpropitious sign......"

What a Surprise
What a surprise, that a columnist from townhall would call it for McCain. Lets begin by more loudly reminding Mr. Barone that the unpopularity of the Republicans and GWB is not without a cause. As I see it the Public gave the Republicans a chance to prove themselves in office. They said that there way was the better way for the country and that their approach with bring prosperity and security to everyone.

But that is not what happened. In office Republicans worried more about Wall Street than Main Street. They gave a tax cut, that gave the mega wealthyy much and the middle class little. They eliminated regulations and we ended up with lead in children's toys, and a housing bubble and bust. They hired underqualified individuals for big jobs like running FEMA or the reconstruction in Iraq that frankly led to unnecessry dealths and major waste. They gave the banks and the credit card companies and the oil companies, and the drug companies everything they wanted and the results turned out to be not so good to working families. That is why the Republican brand is in the toliet and why McCain is running on his history as a POW and not his record in the Senate and why his speech was full of populist ideas when his party has been anything but populist. Whether he gets away with this is a question, but the fact that he has gotten as far as he has is more about Obama than McCain.

grammshart
Yes the Congress has spent two years on partisan nit picking but you left out all of the endless congressional investigations and hearings!

killer
Promises, promises!

Vic
Do you read the comments that went with the link you posted?

Obaama looked weak
in the O'Reilly interview which isn't good if he wants to run on leadership and judgement. He kept reaching out to O'Reilly appearing as if he wanted to be friends. His response to why he won't admit the surge is working was weak when he tried to say everyone was wrong in that the surge was far better then anyone thought. Gov Palin's response to his comment was to say, "Perhaps he felt better in how wrong he was if he could make us believe everyone was wrong."(paraphrased)

In the end the big question in these times is who appears to be the strongest leader. I say appears because, sadly, most voters are illinformed and will vote on appearances. McCains compelling history lives on and Obama's exotic history and vague uplifting promises of change to adoring audiences has diminished. Some don't care if he is a baby killer or an ax murderer, but inbetween Mccain the war hero and Obama the lyrical speaker are the independents and the undecided, a growing group.

Lolo
No I had not looked at the comments. I went back and went through them. LOL, some are pretty funny.

Thanks for the tip.

JILTED

J is for Judges. I am for constitutional judges who adjudicate law as it is passed by the legistative branch of government. Judges that create law from the bench leave me feeling JILTED. I want a plank on the McCain platform that advocates for strict consitutionalist (as written not as imagined) judges.

I is for Illegal immigration. Our nations security depends on preventing unwanted people from entering thru porous borders. I am all for LEGAL immigration. I am for possible immigrants requesting entrance and citizenship into America. I want a plank on the McCain platform that addresses ILLEGAL immigration. I want to see some statement about a fenced border - top and bottom else I will feel JILTED

L is for Life. Our young are our future. When we allow abortion, we compromise that future. I DO believe in choice. Ladies, if you do not choose to have a child, then keep your knees together. Men, if you do not choose to father a child the keep your 'willie' behind your closed zipper. I want a platform on the McCain platform that declares a pro 'LIFE' position else I will feel JILTED.

JILTED (cont.)

T is for Taxes. Taxes are necessary. The government responsibility is for common defense and the general welfare. Roads and bridges are examples of general welfare. Taxes are not meant to a means of wealth redistribution. Taxes are not intended for health care. If health care were a God given right then Jesus would have heaaled everybody in Israel instead of the few he met. Frankly, I would like to see all the government office holders pay for their own health care. I feel JILTED that to Democrats all I am good for is the sacrficial lamb on their altar.

E if for Energy. McCain got one right. Drill here, drill now. Begin construction on nuclear reactor. Invest in winid and solar. Even harness the tides. I want to see that plank nailed home on the McCain platform. Drill, turn, and burn. What ever it takes.

D is for Defense. The primary reason for a federal government is for our common defense. War is not popular but sometimes it is necessary. This Islamic war has been going on longer than enyone here has been alive. It will continue long after we are dead. They want us dead. They have said so. I believe them.

I will vote for McCain and Palin in Nov. Will I be a JILTED lover on the 5th?

Existing democrat tax bills
Carbon Credit Tax = 45 TRILLION DOLLARS
Rangel's Tax = 1 TRILLION DOLLARS
Obama's to-the-UN Tax = 845 BILLION DOLLARS
Obama's gasoline tax = 76 BILLION DOLLARS
gasoline pump tax increase = 10 cents/gallon

WE THE PEOPLE PAY ALL TAXES PERIOD!!!

Questions

For anyone who wants to participate.

A. Starting date of the Second American Revolution
1. If McCain & Palin are elected?
2. If Obama & Biden are elected?

B. Date Obama will throw Biden under the bus, or vice versa?

C. Date 47 trillion dollars in new taxes are enacted

Rin New Questions
Date we get universal healthcare in this country.

Date we begin giving tax breaks to Hybrid buyers rather than Humvee buyers.

Date we save social security by putting it back on a fiscally sound track.

Date we see a tax cut that favors the middle class and lower income taxpayers.

Date we give incentive to businesses that keep jobs in America rather than taking them abroad.

Date we can be sure that our Children's Toys won't have lead in their paint.

Date that Credit Card companies will no longer be able to charge usury rates.

Date we capture or kill Osama bin Laden.

Easy Question
Date the Dem/Libs begin rallying behind Bill & Hill... again... and start jamming up townhall with patent silliness & dumb excuses rather than patent silliness and lame arguments?

a story of pie in the sky
"Date we get universal healthcare in this country."

You favor a Nanny state?

"Date we begin giving tax breaks to Hybrid buyers rather than Humvee buyers."

I favor tax breaks for ALL taxpayers.

"Date we save social security by putting it back on a fiscally sound track.

You should name the sound track before buying pie in the sky.

"Date we see a tax cut that favors the middle class and lower income taxpayers."

We have had taxes lowered for ALL Americans. You discriminate agains the ones who pay the most money?

"Date we give incentive to businesses that keep jobs in America rather than taking them abroad."

Low taxes are an incentive.

"Date we can be sure that our Children's Toys won't have lead in their paint."

A banality with your pie?

"Date that Credit Card companies will no longer be able to charge usury rates."

Nobody is forced to buy with high-interest credit.

"Date we capture or kill Osama bin Laden."

That might be nice. God says, however: "Vengeance is mine; I will repay."

If God wanted us to have pie from the stratosphere, He would bake us some.

My side of the bucket
Wow, finally, these posts have diminished to a trickle.

It could be due to burnout on politics over the last two weeks.

Or could it be the education Fred Thompson gave us, 'Taxes 101,' that finally put the tax equation in perspective, when he exposed the Obama Plan to raise taxes on the 5% richest of us:

"That will work, unless you buy your food, fuel, and clothes from a business. OR if you get a paycheck from a business. They're not going to take water out of your side of the bucket, they're just going to take it out of the OTHER side of the bucket!"

Maybe that insane policy, raising taxes, along with opposing drilling for oil, building nuclear plants, etc, withdrawing from Iraq before the victory is assured, those things seem un-American.

Oops! OK, I said it.

It took an inexperienced young woman from Alaska to remind us how important these things are to our future.

I particularly loved McCain's final "Stand Up and Fight" statement, "Stand Up and Fight! We don't hide from history, we MAKE history!"

As a retired Army post-grad American History student, my examination so far hasn't revealed anything different.

The US hasn't elected an empty lightweight since Carter, and I don't expect that record will be broken in November.

Matt.

Stupid American
Who pays the most taxes? The prople who make the most money. 3% of 1 million is more then 3% of 10 thousand. Robin Hood stoled from the rich to give to the poor! Who wants to take from the people paying most of the tax revenue and give it to the people who do not pay hardly any taxes? I don't know about anyone else but if the U.N. has no military of it's own who is going to enforce the laws they make for the benefit of the world. If lies are spoken long and loud enough they become truth. Excuse me I have my mind made up, please don't confuse me with the facts.

Here is the Site that posts the
answer to all of the lying CS's who post Palin lies, like a stupid list of books that she supposedly tried to ban. Never mind that some of them came out after she left the town.

http://explorations.chasrmartin.com/2008/09/06/palin-rumors /

h/t AOS

I saw that list earlier
and realized it couldn't possibly be true as Palin has not even heard of most of those books, let alone read them so she could object to them.

Banned books??
A college friend of mine was a teacher in Anchorage and thgen Haines- she laughed out loud ( well- LOL on email) when I told her about the rumors. Sarah Palion is LOVED by the people in Alaska- big time! She's not loved by the good old boys network...

Hope you are right, Matt
We have alot more empty suits and air heads in the citizenry now than in the 70's.

I'm no economist and not particularly gifted with numbers, period, but I had to explain to a group of masters and phd level counselors that oil companies and other big businesses are invested in by many people, and that is part of where the "obscene profits" go. One lady was surprised, and then wondered if it was just "the rich"- as if they are evil- who get to invest. Gads!

Yes, isn't it a shame
when the idiots are too stupid to even makeup reasonably believable lies. But what can you expect from Democrats. If they had any brains they would not be Democrats.

Of the titles listed for banning by
Palin in a library, I think the list is likely specious, as once books are purchased in a public library, they are virtually impossible to dislodge no matter what the content or theme.

The American Library Association is ferocious about censoreship to the extent that it even opposes filters on public lib. computers to stop children from accessing porn sites because they might hinder adult searches.

And, I got news on some on that list: Silas Marner is not turning anyone on, is not about devil worship, is not subversive, not when it was written in the 19th C. and not when I was forced to read it in class 50 years ago. It's about the miserable life of a miser. To Kill a Mockingbird has not a curse word or negative portrayal (except for the villain, Robert Ewell) in the entire book and was a stellar movie. That it would get banned anywhere would be absurd,

So, I think the entire posting is made-up Krap, just like the bloggers on the link on Vic's post--they hate Palin for her hair and her children and because of AL and because McCain picked her and all sorts of either hysterical or nonsensical *reasons.*

I'm glad Palin is driving the left nuts, altho' how much further it can go is in serious question.

Democrats are scared to death by Sarah
Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have experience as a 'Community Organizer' like Marxist Obama did, she wasn't even taught by Communist Saul Alinski.

Democrats are saying Palin may have executive experience but Obama has speeches.

Democrats are saying Palin probably had a 'typical white' grandmother.

Democrats are saying Palin never left her babies to die in a 'Dirty Linen' closet like Obama has fought so hard for - how can she understand the 'Obama Hope'?

Democrats are saying Palin was never 'Mentored' by 'God Damn America' black racist Jeremiah Wright - how can she understand the plight of the ordinary black American?

Democrats are saying Palin is a Capitalist and was never trained by Marxists like Obama - how can she bring the 'Obama Change' to America?

Democrats are saying Palin never voted present 129 times - how can she bring the political experience Obama has to the White House?

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't understand the 'Bitter Clingers' like Obama - the typical whites who cling to 'God and Guns'.

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have 'Cult Followers like Obama, who believe Obama is the messiah and will heal the world.

Democrats are saying Palin has a husband who has always been proud of America, how can she understand those like Michelle Obama who was never proud of America.

Democrats are saying Palin thinks babies are wonderful how could she understand the 'Baby Mistakes' Obama talks about.

Democrats are saying Palin has worked at real jobs, how could she understand the plight of Obama who has never had a 'real job'.

Democrats are saying Palin might bring real values to America not the phony ones they believe in - Democrats are afraid!

Spirit of Bipartisanship
In his speech Thursday night, Senator McCain trumpeted the spirit of bipartisanship that would be a hallmark of his administration. Regardless of who wins the general election you can rest assured that Comprehensive Immigration Reform, read Amnesty, will be high on the list, no matter the consequences.

The base will be hoodwinked and the perfect storm will emerge: President McCain with the democrats in control of both houses and a desire to give sanction to lawlessness. Best to let your Representatives and Senators know that this won't sit well. That is if you desire this nation to continue as a sovereign entity.

You-n-Me:
The MSM is going to try everything they can to destroy Sarah Palin over the next two months. Already, they've tried to portray the Palin family as white trash; lose women getting preggers.

Everyday between now and November 4th we need to talk to everyone we come across, especially our friends and family members. Make sure everyone is registered to vote, and that they know what the important facts are. America is depending on everyone to get involved; we're in for a fight against Obama and the MSM propaganda machine. The stakes are too high, and America simply cannot afford Obama, on oh so many levels. Are any members of your family Obamabots? Rescue them from the cult! We've got to get the word out, and perhaps word of mouth from "the Average American" is the most trustworthy endorsement a candidate could have.

Bunker Down Sarah
Where is Sarah?

I don't really know much about her. I am not going to take it on faith that she is ready for the VP, or the POTUS even.
I need to hear her answer questions from the media. If John McCain can do it, then so can she.

If she is such a fighter, then why is she hiding?

Barracuda? Not in my mind. Bunker down Sarah

Rob: Sarah Certainly Isn't Hiding
Rob asks, "If she is such a fighter, then why is she hiding?"

Rob, Governor Sarah Palin was in Albuquerque, NM yesterday with her husband, Cindy and John McCain, Robert Duvall, Steve Pearce, Heather Wilson, Darren White, and others. The crowd of 7,000+ had been gathering since morning to get into the convention center. There were about 70 Obama fans protesting with signs across the street; they looked and sounded like real loons. The GOP in NM is revved up about the McCain-Palin ticket and have quite a few Democrats supporting the GOP ticket in NM. My bet is that NM is a red state in November.

Resolutions, not Revolutions!
There's no question in my mind about who has the best interest of the American people in mind. The V.P. I want elected into office is one that can provide motivation and help push the President into drilling for oil or else nothing else will matter! If we don't become free from OPEC who is taking our country down without bombs and opening up America to be ruled by socialists or worse, for example, the socialist professors in our schools paid by OPEC, as well as facing a disastrous economic disaster because we failed to demand drilling for oil, based on a illusion of fear by those nuts who are getting wealthy off of global warming propaganda, then we only have ourselves to blame for a possible revolution because we failed to vote for those with a resolution. As Russia, communist China, and the Middle East unite against us because of OIL and we continue to send our billions of American dollars to Europe for their energy, America will continue to see economic ruin. Europeans don't have the backbone to fight back and don't even voicwe their support for America. We need to demand that our government help the American people and stop sending jobs overseas and stop stonewalling the drilling of oil that will keep our children and grandchildren safe from those who want to take us down because they control the oil. Take back our sovereignty, our military strength, and vote for public servants who will serve the people, not serve themselves. Vote against OPEC. Vote for Resolutions, not Revolutions!
