Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

As the environmentalist Bjorn Lomberg points out, the Kyoto Treaty that Gore helped to write (but which the Clinton administration never asked the Senate to ratify) would produce very little reduction in climate change at very high cost.

But religious prophets are not concerned about costs. Gore calls for an immediate cessation of new carbon-burning facilities. In other words, stop economic growth. But stopping economic growth in the developing world means consigning millions to miserable poverty. And we know what stopping economic growth in the developed world can mean.

Read the history of the 1930s: fascism, communism, world war. There are worse things than a rise of 1 or 2 degrees Centigrade.

The natural human yearning for spirituality has produced in many people educated in secular-minded universities and enveloped in an atmosphere of contempt for traditional religion a faith that we vulgar human beings have a sacred obligation not to inflict damage on Mother Earth. But science tells us that the Earth and its climate have been constantly changing.

Gore and his followers seem to assume that the ideal climate was the one they got used to when they were growing up. When temperatures dropped in the 1970s, there were warnings of an impending ice age. When they rose in the 1990s, there were predictions of disastrous global warming. This is just another example of the solipsism of the baby boom generation, the pampered and much-praised age cohort that believes the world revolves around them and that all past history has become irrelevant.

We're told in effect that the climate of the late 1950s and early 1960s was, of all those that have ever existed, the best of all possible climates. Not by science. But as a matter of faith.

“If we turn a scientific investigation into a theological argument the science doesn't matter any more and nobody wins.”

If we turn to science only, it seems the only real winners are the bureaucrats. (well right, I cannot say that does not matter) Here is an idea: lets put a “hindcasting” model of bureaucracy in and crank it up to warp speed, sort of give it the scientific test. (it might make a better thesis for “evolution” of bureaucracy.)

How Hot is It?
Since the temps. in the Arctic range from -40 below to -100 below, how much do they have to rise in order for all the ice to melt? And the tilt of the earth would have to drastically change in order for enough sunlight to raise the temps to that degree. There are so many aspects of the theory that just doesn't pass the logic test. Just what does an "average global temp" have to do with anything?? It's warm, cold, hot, mild in different places all over. If you heat up a board to 212 degrees on one end at cool it down to 32 degrees on the other, you average 122 degrees. Does that tell you anything about what's actually happening on the board?? So, the average temp went up .6C over a century, a lot of assumptions have to be made. One being that it is accurate. Does anyone doubt that temp measuring has improved greatly over the past century? Where were the temps taken? There are only about 100 weather stations in all of Antarctic, a area the size of Mexico and U.S. together. There can be NO accurate measurement of temps and you certainly can't say that temps are increasing.

They stated that Greenland temps had increased by 11 degrees. It was only on a small portion of Greenland where that temp was measured, YET they stated it as the entirity of Greenland. Their theories are full of statements of half-truths, outright lies, and distortions.

AGW'ers will say that one season or one month of above or below average temps mean nothing, but in the same sentence will point out how Jan. was really hot and ignore the fact that Feb. was one of the 5 coldest on record. They also point to hot summers and hot winters to back their theory, but when YOU point out how certain seasons or months were either normal or very cold, they flippinly point out that it "means nothing". That is simpily "weather", not "climate." There's no sense in arguing with a closed minded socialist!
