Why Rush on Global Warming?

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

The ABC News headline this week said it all: “U.S. Must Lead Way in Clean Energy Technology, Agency Heads Say; Administration Officials Push for the Swift Passing of Kerry-Boxer Climate Change Legislation.”

It’s that second part—about the need for swift passage of global warming legislation—that tells the whole story.

Arguing with Idiots By Glenn Beck

Of course President Obama wants quick passage. For months the public has focused on the bruising health care fight taking place in Washington. Along with congressional allies like John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, and Nancy Pelosi, Obama would like nothing better than to rush global warming regulation through congress before the public can turn proper attention to a proposal under which, as the President himself has put it, “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

But that’s just part of what proponents of a costly cap-and-trade system would rather the public not hear. The president’s advisers would like to ram through their climate proposals before the public catches wind of the overwrought rhetoric bubbling up from the fevered swamps of global warming alarmism.

Consider the interview Lord Nicholas Stern gave to The Times of London decrying the carbon content of people’s food. “Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases,” he said. “I am not sure that people fully understand what we are talking about or the kind of changes that will be necessary” to stave off global warming.

Give up meat to save the planet? That seems to be what he is saying. The old saw used to be that meat is murder. Now it’s suicide. Lord Stern is no gadfly crank, either. He is the most distinguished authority on climate change in the United Kingdom, and authored a landmark 2006 study on global warming economics. More than anyone, Lord Stern advanced the controversial notion that we can constrain our economies today to ward off tomorrow’s climate catastrophe. Now he says we must become vegetarians too.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, meanwhile, claims failure to pass a new Kyoto-style agreement at December’s global warming summit will doom us. Literally. “If we do not reach a deal at this time, let us be in no doubt: once the damage from unchecked emissions growth is done, no retrospective global agreement, in some future period, can undo that choice,” he said. Hear that? We have just weeks to save the planet.

Issuing imprudent and hyperbolic rhetoric about climate is not solely a British disease, of course. Consider the warning issued by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in the New York Times recently. He called global warming an “existential threat to humankind.” Maybe it is, maybe it’s not. But if the Secretary General wishes to sound alarms with Americans, he may be doing so unwittingly with another line from his op-ed: “A deal must include an equitable global governance structure.” In a country whose existence is rooted in its struggle for independence, many Americans will be put off by such a claim.

Unfortunately for those who would like to see climate change regulation enacted, there are numerous other statements from allies that would turn off a public paying greater attention to the issue. Noted climate scientist Ken Caldeira, for instance, recently declared, “I believe that we should be outlawing the production of devices that emit carbon dioxide.” Think about that next time you drive your car.

In his books and columns, the New York Times’s Thomas Friedman pines for the authority held by China’s communist autocrats. He wishes enlightened leaders could simply impose global warming solutions on the American economy rather than having to approve them democratically. Meanwhile a popular book by environmentalists Robert and Brenda Vale, entitled Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living, argues that owning pets is even worse for the planet than an SUV.

While certainly tongue-in-cheek compared to Friedman’s paean to enlightened dictatorship or Lord Stern’s screed against meat, Time to Eat the Dog shares their same worry, i.e., that people in their daily lives are the planet’s gravest threat, and must be stopped.

Give them credit for candor. But don’t expect the larger public to sympathize with those beliefs. That’s why team Obama wants to ram cap-and-trade through quickly, obscured by the smokescreen of the healthcare debate. The president understands that an informed national discussion on global warming will expose the radical statements of global warming regulation’s most prominent proponents, which is not conducive to getting the bill he wants. That’s democracy for you.

Why not go vegetarian?
I am. But that's not the issue, insane environmentalism is the issue.

Use google to research CO2 in Earth's atmosphere. Here are the facts and the math.

Earth's air contains about 385 parts CO2 per million--only 0.0385% CO2. Of that, most consider less than 5% CO2 is man-made. So man-made CO2 is only 19 parts per million (PPM).

Most consider the US, with some 5% (?) of the population contributes 29% of man-made CO2. And 29% of the 19 PPM is 6 PPM--and that's todays emissions, absent any bill.

So, whether it's the Waxman bill or the Kerry bill, even at the "best" projected/requested CO2 reductions of 80%, you're talking about getting rid of FIVE molecules out of every MILLION molecules. And still, true scientists argue whether rising CO2 levels are a LEADING indicator of rising temperatures, or a TRAILING indicator of COOLING temperatures.

This has NOTHING to do with saving the planet--it has to do with DESTROYING the United States of America!!!

Wake up everybody! If we, as a people rise up against the Al Gore's of the world by throwing a glass of cold water on them whenever they raise their heads, we might convince everyone that...

THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL WET!!!

Water is recycled, not wasted

"Meat is a wasteful use of water"

How can you waste water? The only water I know that has left the planet in all history is whatever may have been left on the moon.

Water is recycled, not wasted.

I'm not smart enough to know the answer to this, but I never heard that any water has been created since the world was created, and I have no idea how any water could escape the earth.

“All the participants of the meeting took man-made global warming for granted, were convinced of its dangerous consequences, and more or less competed in one special discipline — whether to suggest a 20, 30, 50 or 80 percent CO2 emissions cut as an agreed-upon, world-wide project. It was difficult to say anything meaningful and constructive.”
Newsmax reported earlier that during the Davos conference in January, Klaus said: "I'm very sorry that some people like Al Gore are not ready to listen to the competing theories. I do listen to them.
"Environmentalism and the global warming alarmism is challenging our freedom. Al Gore is an important person in this movement."
Klaus concluded in New York: “The environmentalists speak about ‘saving the planet.’ From what? And from whom? One thing I know for sure: We have to save it - and us — from them.” >>>>>> (3/3)

The global warming debate “has not made any detectable progress and the much needed, long overdue exchange of views has not yet started. All we see and hear are uninspiring monologues.
“It reminds me of the frustration people like me felt in the Communist era. Whatever you said, any convincing and well prepared arguments you used, any relevant data you assembled — no reaction. It all fell into emptiness. Nobody listened.
“They didn't even try to argue back. They considered you a naive, uninformed and confused person, an eccentric, a complainer, someone not able to accept their only truth. It is very similar now.”
Recalling his experience at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, he said he spent three hours at a closed session with about 60 people - heads of state and “experts” like Al Gore, Tony Blair and Kofi Annan.
“It was a discouraging experience. You looked around in vain to find at least one person who would share your views. There was no one. >>>>> (2/3)

Re: Global Warming? (1/3)
From: newsmax.com, March 15, 2009:
2. Czech President Blasts Global Warming
Czech President Vaclav Klaus says many global warming advocates are more interested in money than they are in climate change.
Speaking at the opening session of the Second International Conference on Climate Change last week in New York, Klaus — who is also President pro-tem of the European Union — warned that politicians have “succeeded in creating incentives which led to the rise of a very powerful [profit]-seeking group.
“These people are interested neither in temperature, CO2, competing scientific hypotheses and their testing, nor in freedom or markets. They are interested in their businesses and their profits — made with the help of politicians.”
They will profit, he said, from trading the licenses to emit carbon dioxide, and from constructing unproductive wind, solar and similar equipment able to generate electricity only with high levels of subsidies.
They will also make money from doing research, writing and speaking about global warming.
At the New York conference, sponsored by the Heartland Institute and attended by more than 700 scientists, Klaus declared that “there is no fixed and stable relationship between measured temperature and CO2 emissions.
“The believers in this hypothesis are not able to explain why the global temperature increased from 1918 to 1940, decreased from 1940 to 1976, increased from 1976 to 1998 and decreased from 1998 to the present, irrespective of the fact that people have been adding increasing amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere.”
He said global warming alarmists “want to change us and our behavior. Their ambition is to control and manipulate us.” >>>>>> (1/3)

My energy balance for the Earth was correct. The major energy input to the Earth is from radiant energy from the Sun. Most of this energy is lost by radiation to the sky at night. The energy balance is such that the Earth is kept at an average equilibrium temperature. If the atmosphere of the Earth were covered by a vast dust cloud (which actually occurred during the 19th Century caused by a volcano eruption), the temperatures of the Earth’s surface and the whole Earth would gradually continue to drop at a more rapid rate than it does now. There is actually a gradual drop in the temperature of the Earth as evidenced by the formation of the Earth’s crust from its original ball of molten lava. >>>> (2/2)

And if you treat the Earth as a close system by "just draw a circle or a sphere around it" as Fab suggest, we would be one big frozen rock in space.
His error is assuming Energy In = Energy Out which is not the case for the earth.”

My response:
I made no error in my analysis of an energy balance for the Earth. There is some confusion about what is a “closed system” in this discussion. I meant to say that in order to analyze any system or combination of systems in an energy balance analysis; you simply draw a circle (or a boundary) around the system to define the system that you are analyzing.
A “closed” system in thermodynamics means a system that neither receives energy nor loses energy to the surroundings outside of the boundary drawn for the analysis. A closed system is a theoretical system for purposes of mathematical thermodynamic analysis and very hard to construct in physical reality. An approach to a closed system would be an insulated tank inside of which a chemical or biological reaction or process takes place. The pressure and temperature changes that result from the reaction inside the vessel can be measured and used to calculate the Heat of reaction of the process because no energy was added or extracted from the system during the reaction. This is an example of an adiabatic process (no energy was added or extracted from the vessel). >>>>> (1/2)

Gentle Readers,

Dear inthemajority ,

If you go to this link

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11638-climate-myths-h uman-co2-emissions-are-too-tiny-to-matter.html

you will find an article in NEW SCIENTIST
magazine providing data on anthropogenic (human)CO2 emissions.

According to the article, only 3.7% of emissions are human, the rest are natural.

Even if human emissions were reduced to zero,
it would have no effect on the climate.

What is curious is that the editorial position
of NEW SCIENTIST is that CO2 emissions must
be controlled to prevent global warming. They
say that the oceans will absorb the natural
CO2 but human CO2 emissions accumulate in
the atmosphere.

There is a forum with the article similar to
this one -- there is post after post from curious readers asking how that could be
possible, with attempts by NEW SCIENTIST
writers to justify that viewpoint, without
much success.

There is no need to control human CO2
emissions.

"Yet the myth has built up that given enough time the most impossible things can happen: dinosaurs changing into birds, cows into whales. [In fact, due to the second law of thermodynamics the opposite is the case: with time entropy increases.]"
------------------------------------------------
The second law of thermodynamics only applies to closed systems, and neither life nor the planet Earth are closed systems. Since Mr. Wilders cannot even grasp this simple concept, why should anyone believe anything else he has to say about the science of evolution?"

My response:
You do not understand entropy or "closed systems". The term "closed systems" is an engineering term. Engineers draw a boundary around a machine, or a combination of machines, or a system that they are designing or analyzing in order to calculate an energy balance for the "closed system". The "closed system" is defined by the imaginary boundary drawn by the engineer or scientist in order to satisfy the equation: Energy In = Energy Out. In other words, the boundary of the “closed system” is a means to check the consistency of the equations used to analyze or design a system.
The Earth can be analyzed as a “closed system”; just draw a circle or a sphere around it.
Energy In = Radiation from the Sun + (a relatively small amount of radiation from other bodies). Energy Out = Radiation to the sky (mainly at night). This analysis shows that the Earth is gradually cooling because the energy lost from the Earth by radiation cannot be replaced. Similarly, the Sun will eventually cool because it is loosing its energy by radiation. Eventually, when all thermonuclear reactions cease, all bodies in the universe will come to one constant temperature; each body having the same temperature.

Utopianism (socialism/communism)
Utopianism (socialism/communism)
The Democrat party is the Utopianism party.
The Party members of course will enforce this dream of a Utopia (Heaven on Earth) by means of an economic tyranny. This is their fallacious Creed: Everyone is equal; therefore no one may own more than anyone else in order to have peace in their Utopia. Of course, the Party Members, the High Priests of Utopianism, are entitled to a little more wealth and perks than the proletariat because of all the study, preparation, conniving, scheming, and work that they must do in order preserve the Utopia from attack by the 20% of the people that make their Utopia function and know, at the same time, that they are being screwed by the Party Members.
Corollaries of the Utopian Doctrine (Religion)
1. Everyone is basically equal in the eyes of the State; therefore, ability and effort are not entitled to any special reward in terms of wealth (except Party Members)
2. Competition is to be de-emphasized in order that no one feels inferior.
3. Scholarships will be awarded according to the political needs of the State and not on the basis of ability.
4. Promotions and rewards in occupations will be distributed according to the needs of the State and not on the basis of individual ability and productivity.
5. Political speech will be regulated in order that the disturbing ideas of individualism, capitalism, competition, Christianity, Judaism, and other religions may not upset the tranquility of the Utopia. The exception to this rule is that Party Members may draw from non-party doctrines certain ideas that they deem of benefit to the State.

Proud Lib: Are you drunk or stoned?

Want to bet God isn't a Christian?
Of course global warming may not be true. But what are you willing to bet that it isn't, if in fact it is true and all the scary things scientists tell us are true?

What will you bet?

CO2 is plant food!
So-called "global warming" is about nothing more than wannabe-clever shysters who have figure a way to turn "the sky is falling!" into a big-bucks scam. Supporting the Lex Luthors are the useful-i-d-i-o-t "I am morally entitled to a percentage of your labor" so-called "liberals."
NEWS FLASH: Traditional Golden Rule Morality is the very foundation of self-ownership and individual rights, which, in turn preclude by definition any and all forms of i-d-i-o-t-i-c "I am morally entitled to a percentage of your labor" collectivism.
The Earth has been warming and cooling for eons, mostly determined by the sun's activity (sun spots, etc). Hence the "Ice Ages" and "Tropical Ages" we all learned about in junior high.
CO2 is plant food, for crying out loud. It is also what we humans exhale. The more CO2, the better plants thrive. If people want to worry about something, worry about acid rain and acidifying the oceans. Oh yes, you can also worry that we only have 2 billion years to find another place to live before our sun supernovas and turns the Earth into a cinder!
Lastly, ignore the pathetic, wannabe-clever ad hominem "leos" and "inthemajorities" of the world. It is self-evident that they are too illiterate and intellectually dishonest to belong in the conversation.
It is the REAL haters, the useful i-d-i-o-t "I am morally entitled to a percentage of your labor" collectivists who are "destroying the planet for our children" with their ad hominem propaganda manipulations. In my book, they're lower than pond whale leftovers on the bottom of the ocean!

The GoreBull Warming fraud
is a leftist plot to force us into a planned economy and to let people foolishly let the left take over telling everyone what light bulb to use, how much water to flush with, how long to shower, and if you may even use a hair dryer.

The leftist greens wish to dictate the smallest details of our lives.... for what?

A fraud. The earth's climate changes. The history is clear that we've had colder (ice ages) and warmer temperatures in the past. There is no proof that anything humans have done is contributing to "global warming."

There are now numerous predictions made by the global warming theory that have failed to materialize. Testing theories against predictions is how they are "proved" or "disproved." Einstein's theory of relativity is only considered "stong" because it has survived countless predictions (that come from the underlying math) when observations of the actual universe had matched the prediction.

Global Warming Theory has no such record. It accounts incorrectly for water vapor. It did not predict the correct change in temperature of the stratosphere. It appears that the "positive" correlation (that suggests the possibility of "runaway temperature increase") is actually negative -- that is, the system strongly resists a runaway and may even tend to reduce the natural swings in temperatures.

Finally, review of data shows much falsification in the data used to back the original claims of the theory -- and it also shows that CO2 levels _follow_ temperature change -- that is, CO2 increases as a result of increased temperatures.

So, reason suggests that we tread carefully and ensure that the science is good before we destroy our economy and give up our liberty to a bunch of leftist goons who want to tell you when to flush.

AL GORE HAS TO HURRY
TO HIS BANK TO PUT MORE GREEN INTO HIS ACCOUNT!THATS AL'S WAY OF GOING GREEN WHAT A SCAM !

Why Hurry?
If enacted, this legislation will add enormous amounts to everyone's utility bills. Manufacturers will move operations to jurisdictions which are not subject to this levy - read China, India, Africa, etc. Any business left in the US will have to raise prices dramatically to pay their utility bills. Only the elites like Al Gore will be able to afford to heat their homes in winter. It's been estimated that to attain compliance with stated goals for CO2 emmissions, the US would have to reduce levels to where they were in the late 1870s, when there were no cars or trucks, no electricity, little manufacturing and little indoor plumbing. I wonder how many libs would be willing to make those sacrifices.

inthe majority
The planet has been warming since the peak of the last ice age. That was 100,000 years ago. How much of that warming was anthropogenic?
The only reason we blame humans is mercenary in nature. You can't extort money from the sun, the atmosphere, or animals.

inthemajority,
Your "small minority" included the EXACT SAME PEOPLE who are now hyping global warming. Why are they credible now but not credible then?

BTW, My BS is in Environmental Science -- 2/3 Biology/1/3 Geology. I actually studied the subject on a college level. Have you?

A Simple Set of Questions
Has anyone told you what the quantitative goals are to prevent the event from happening?

Do you know what the quantitative goals are?

Is there a clear and unambiguous timeline of when these goals must be met?

Is there a clear and unabmigyous set of quantitative measures in place to know what we have to do to achieve the goal?

How do you know if the sacrifices they are asking us to make, is actually going to prevent the event from happening?

Has anyone told us, what sacrifices must be made in order to reach those goals?

Is it realistic to assume that these goals can even be met?

If you ask the people to make some sacrifices to prevent the event from happening, and the event still happens, was the sacrifice worth the cost?

Is it better to try and prevent the event from happening, or would it be better to live with the fact that the event will happen and mitigate the effects if the event does happen? Which is the most cost effective approach? Which will result in the least amount of cost to society? Which is the better solution to the problem?

If the theory is wrong, and they "forced" us to make sacrifices, were the sacrifices worth the cost?

Of Course...
Obama wants to turn over the US to the UN.

He is an organizer. Get them agitated, introduce them to manipulators, collect your money then turn them over.

Since he was elected he is agitating and introducing manipulators (see Czars and UN). He has collected money (book deal before he was sworn in) so all that is left is to turn them over.

In con-speak that is the blow off.

Doin' my part
To paraphrase one Ron White; "I'm doin' my part for the environment. I'm eatin' the cows!"

I almost forgot...

lions and tigers and bears (Oh my!)

Another Money Grab Crisis!
Funny how the crises keep coming at intervals, one money-grab fails, and here comes the next one, and we're doomed if we don't pass it right away.

From what I understand Obama plans to hand over sovereignty of the United States to Foreign powers in order to inflict this shameful fraud on us.

Foreign powers will be given authority to make laws that supercede our own for our best interests. Groups like the UN and World Court will have jurisdiction over us. With friends like that we don't need enemas.

Say it ain't so Obama. If it is so, prepare to be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors as written in the constitution.

Global warming is...

a crock of methane-producing organic fertilizer! This planet has had cycles of warming and cooling since time began.

For example, the River Thames has frozen solid 24 times between 1434 and 1895-96, although records show freezes as far back as 1142. (In 1607 it was so solidly frozen fires could be built on the ice!)

If we take Lord Stern at his word, then we must eliminate (destroy) almost anything that burps or farts -- cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats -- oh yes, and mankind. That will leave the planet for the kudzu, crabgrass and cockroaches.

But wait! Plants NEED CO2, and I very much doubt if roach farts will produce enough to sustain plant life. So, without CO2 the plants die off and then this "saved" planet will have become merely a barren "Third Rock From The Sun."

A false crisis
The rush is to see how much money can be stolen from us.

California SUV Environmentalists
In Cal, most everybody wants a gas sucking car - and yet they're all dems. They don't want nuclear power - yet they can't give a rational explanation as to why they don't. Most dems are a bag of politically conflicting causes. When one cause bumps into another, they ignore it. It's a Michael Moore thing.

Meat-Eaters
Humans, along with millions of other species, have been consuming meat for eons - yet the planet survives. Should we expect all of the carnivores on the planet to switch to veggie burgers? How much meat does the average polar bear consume in a year? Should we exterminate them in order to "save the planet"? What/who exactly are we saving the planet for? Nothing is forever, and the only constant is change. Nothing that we do or don't do will prevent climate change over the long term.

Arctic Ice is Melting??
All Bore says Arctic ice is melting and the rising waters will flood our coastal cities.
This is the basis for claiming "we owe undeveloped countries compensation". That includes moving entire populations from their
misery to the good old U.S.A. That would, of course, also include supporting them with welfare, housing, etc. The UN is now leading in this logic.

Well, it seems that extreme melting of Arctic ice is not new news. It happened and was documented in 1905 and in 1922. The funny thing is... this documentation is at noaa.gov.
I laugh when I see links concerning those polar bears drowning... but they never mention this one.

http://docs.lib.noaa.gov/rescue/mwr/050/mwr-050-11-0589a.pd f

Similar work done in 1905 came to the same conclusion. I only have a very condensed version of that story.

Arctic ice decreases and increases regardless of the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Get used to it.

Claims that we've never before seen such reductions in Arctic ice are simply not correct.

There are many other flaws in the global warming terrorist logic. One of these is the matter of measuring temperature in "heat islands"... places where there's a lot of concrete and/or asphalt. Go to http://www.wattsupwiththat.com for some documentation including pics showing where measuring stations are located.

I'm old enough AND wide enough
I'm old enough AND wide enough to remember that a small minority of scientists thought there was going to be global cooling in the 70s. There are many Cons who refuse to read the facts regarding this issue and continue to spout lies about what was really happened with the science in the 70s.

Do we really want to trust the global warming deniers who simply deny what they don't want to hear, or the scientists who have been watching this and noting global warming since before the 70s?

Too bad that Bush's czars denied us the funds to combat this and healthcare by starting a couple of wars. Cons have such short memories.

If you don't eat it, what?
If you don't eat it, what will happen? The animal will grow fatter and put out more methane, and will expel much more CO2 (which we all do,) and will die and decompose.

So, what are we to do? If we don't eat meat, the world is doomed, if we do, the world is doomed.

Honestly, the global warming nuts needs to think about it. The sun is the reason why the globe warms, but then, some people want to block out the sun.

What's next? Should we stop drinking water, or just commit mass suicide?

The sky is falling!
I agree with Ray. I am old enough to remember the liberals talking about going into an ice age in the seventies. I remember the aids fear, homeless, overpopulation, etc. Do we really trust the global warming nuts when the planet has cooled slightly in the last eleven years and predicted to continue cooling for the next 10 to 20 years? One of Obama's Czar, Cass Sunstein, said that global warming was the best way to redistribute the wealth. Now would that be Obama agenda? The sky isn't falling. The nuts are just pushing their new agenda.

Lon and Leo look at the numbers...
Look up the carbon emmisions of countries. We are only tenths of a percentage point above Europe. China and India are far exceeding our output. Why is it that this administration and Congress out to do this? I mean you have to ask that question. At best they are out to hamper our economy so that they can look like good guys, at worst they are trying to kill our greatness because they are ashamed of America. What is thier motive and why should we even be considering this action when you look at the numbers?

Lon
How will your taxes going up, your light bulbs being made of mercury or driving a battery-powered lawnmower make a tinker's damn of difference to the weather?

Paranoid, much?

Leo
Since you apparently don't disagree with Ken Caldiera's statement that any device that emits CO2 be eliminated, may we safely assume you'll be the first in line to eliminate YOUR CO2 emissions?

"The planet" was made for us, not we for it. Think about that the next time you're sitting in a warm home while the snow is falling.

true
yes Obama wants to ram a climate bill down our throats by going through the normal year long legislative process of producing different bills in various committees in Congress then reconciling them until there is a majority vote in both houses on a final version. That evil man, using democratic means to pass laws. What a radical.

Factory Farming . . .
is one of the main culprits behind the pollution and contamination being caused by animals.

If Americans really understood the horrors that food animals exist in, how they are raised brutally and slaughtered even more cruelly, then perhaps we might FORCE the changes needed to produce healthier foods for consumption.

Instead, environmentalists blame cows for producing "methane", instead of the greedy food processors that make the animals unhealthy, our foodstuffs only marginally (and not always) safe, and contribute to the alleged global warming and greenhouse emissions.

That's right, let's blame the cows, chickens and pigs. After all, they don't have any lobbyists or lawyers to line their pockets at the expense of the American public.

JerseyVet
Completely agree with you. When did people who are right about 40% of time get the right to speak about this? I think Madame Cleo has a better accuracy rate than these "scientists."

Stop Blaming America
Everyone is blathering that America must lead the way in green living.

Yup, that's right! Get the UN to pass a resolution for "global governance" so we can lose our freedoms at the same time. In fact, why not punish America for all the damage it has done to 3rd world countries.

Yup, that's right! Take the wealth of America and "share it" with third world countries because we have been so horrible to them and used more than our share of oxygen.

Get real!!!

America is not the country destroying the rain forests. And what benefit will "global governance" serve when the largest populations (and largest polluters) are China and India. Can you imagine that China is going to agree to be GOVERNED by any global organization?

Wake up, Americans. We have lots to change here, but WE NEED TO BE THE ONES DOING THE CHANGE - not some Global Governance/UN-type group.

Dogging the Enviro Nutjobs
These environmental wackos belong in an asylum and I'd be willing to contribute to a fund that would be used to purchase an island where we could put all these nutjobs. Don't they realize how insane they sound?

As a golfer I'm annoyed that meteorologists can't even get the weather right for two days ahead of tomorrow. Yet they have us believe they know what's going to happen with the climate in the next two decades! It's the 21st Century but we still have the fabulists and ignoramuses with us.

It's all about control, folks, and it's astounding that an author would actually write about a book about eating your dog. Even more astounding is that people would actually buy such a book. (Mark Levin, who truly loved his dog, would consign these nutjobs to the outer reaches of hell guarded by that three-headed dog, Cerberus.)

We need global warming
The Renaissance, the last warm period, was a time of great prosperity: A time of art, building, and an extended growing period when previously unknown amounts of food were grown. Venice was not flooded.

The reason that so much of this planet has had drought for so long is that we’ve been in an ice age, and water needed for normal condensation has been frozen into glaciers. Glaciers are frozen water needed as condensation for barren and frozen lands of this planet, causing drought and flooding. When glaciers melt, some water runs into the oceans. Some water soaks into the ground. Some water evaporates into the upper atmosphere to become normal rainfall for the whole world.

The heat of the sun, clean air, and the absence of cold from glaciers and sea ice would cause more water to evaporate from the oceans, lakes, and rivers into the upper atmosphere than there presently is; the winds would blow it evenly around the world, providing normal rainfall world-wide, even where there presently is drought and barren and frozen land, preventing flooding.

The worldwide rainfall would cause long-dormant seeds in barren lands to sprout and grow into new plants: The best way to go green. The new plants would inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen, which we breathe. There would be so many new plants, that we might have to increase the amount of carbon dioxide we generate, to provide enough for all of them

Many parts of the world have record amounts of snow and ice. Arctic ice is as thick as it was in the 1970’s when an ice age was predicted. Polar bears, which had thrived during the previous decade, are heading south to escape the severe cold. The Farmers’ Almanac predicts numbing cold this winter. We’re entering another ice age in 2014. We must drill and pump our own oil, natural gas, and mine our coal as soon as possible, so they are available for use.

Leo
If you could pry yourself away from the daily kos talking points would you provide facts to support your allegations? I would especially like to know, from the liberal point of view, how we are hurting the children. The reason I pick this point is that liberal Eco_Imperalist opposition to the controlled use of DDT in Africa has actually KILLED millions.
So I would like to hear your rationale on how a theoretical danger superceedes a real one.

Still Waiting,
I am STILL waiting to see the mile-high wall of ice swallow Chicago and New York.

The VERY SAME PEOPLE who are now hyperventilating about global warming *promised* me, back in the late '70's, that we were entering a New Ice Age that would spell the doom of mankind.

I'll consider believing the global warming nonsense AFTER I see those glaciers.

Global Warming again?
I can't believe we are still having this tiring conversation about a non existent situation. Hey guys, didn't you get the memo?

I Would Make Sense if We Had a Problem
Passing legislation to control global warming might make sense if we had any global warming but since we don't it's a bit ridiculous to run the cost up to fix something that doesn't exist. All the recent research indicates that we have had no measurable clitmate change since 1987.

Then of course there is still the issue of; that even if we did have global warming is it man caused and can man do anything about it? There is mounting evidence that the answer to both these questions is NO!

As usual and typical this is just another concocked emergency on the part of the Radical Left to shift money from one pocket to another of their chosing. In addition to Al Gore's personal wealth rocketing from $1 million when he left office to more than $100 million now via the global warming scare, there are plenty of other Liberal Vultures sitting on the high line wires waiting to get rich off "Global Warming" as soon as the Dems can ram it through. Of course these are the same people demonizing the oil companies for making a profit off their investment. Talk about hypocrites.

This is going down just like Obamacare. It's a dead duck.

Yeah, why?
Why do anything? After all short term profits of few are much more important than the life of this planet. And the most convenient fact of all - you hurt your own children.

Does it make you proud that you destroy this planet for your own kids? So that you can remain as greedy as before you're willing to leave your children with nothing: including climate that supports life.

Yes, why hurry, why bother, why care. Conservatism is about being selfish and greedy.
