Poll
Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

How out of touch are they in the Washington, D.C., "bubble," in which Congress and the media live?

Arguing with Idiots By Glenn Beck

Recently, a national poll was touted in the national news, with a typical headline reading something like, "Public Supports Public Option" for health care legislation. Big news, right? But the actual question asked if poll respondents preferred a plan "that includes some form of government-sponsored health insurance."

Think about it. The poll didn't ask about a government-run program at all. It merely made it sound as if the government would be creating an additional policy option for people who need it.

In the opinion research that dominates my workdays, I spend much time ensuring that my own firm is fair in the questions we ask, the methodology we use and the "weighting" of the various demographic groups so crucial to an honest survey. I also get to examine the work of other pollsters.

Generally speaking, the better surveys I've seen on health care reform tell me that -- as usual -- congressional leaders are so self-absorbed that they haven't a clue on the public's pulse. Americans by and large reject what's being proposed on health care.

Typically, if you see a poll showing that national health care legislation is popular, especially legislation that includes the "public option," that poll almost certainly is flawed.

An errant survey might not have let the respondents know that the "public option" is a program to be regulated and administered by the federal government. Its questions might have been laced with flowery language meant to lure respondents into approving of such reform.

Or even more likely, the poll had been "weighted," or readjusted, to reflect the way America's balance of political partisanship looked six months ago -- with more Democrats and "independents," and fewer Republicans, than is actually now the case. Just that one maladjustment to polling data can make overall anti-reform sentiment look like just the opposite.

Many leaders in the House of Representatives are crowing about what they consider their crowning accomplishment, the health care bill they (barely) passed last week. A cascade of national surveys says they are delusional. In the last week or two, Pew and AP-GFK each conducted surveys on health care. Both are reputable pollsters, even if they tend to overrepresent Democratic voters in their data. These polls showed opposition to the health care reform in Congress to be roughly 46 percent, with about 38 percent in favor.

Then Gallup released a survey showing that voters prefer, by 48 percent to 44 percent, that the next Congress be controlled by the Republicans. That suggests to me that the next surveys by organizations such as Pew and AP-GFK should be "weighted" to reflect a much more even political split nationally than their previous polls apparently have.

In other words, if the national polling on this health care turkey were to be done in a balanced and straightforward way, we'd likely find that this supposed shining jewel of health care reform might be a temporary rush of serotonin for the White House and the congressional Democrats -- but it could mean political death warrants for those Democratic congressmen and -women that represent moderate districts. And that goes double for moderate Democratic U.S. senators if they vote for anything like the House bill.

The public remembers the arrogant misdeeds of the self-congratulatory political class, be the wrongdoers Democrat or Republican. In 1990, I watched President Bush 41 and the GOP commit political suicide. They passed a tax hike that seemed legitimate, even unavoidable. It wasn't, and Bush lost his re-election bid.

The Republicans also botched things in the mid-'80s. They revamped the federal tax code and ended tax benefits for owners of rental property. That cute maneuver sent most of the "Reagan Revolution" Senate class of 1980-81 back home in the '86 elections.

I find it utterly baffling that congressional Democrats in places like Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and other swing states don't recognize that their devotion to this health care reform mess likely will end their careers down the road. Moreover, they don't seem to realize how silly they look fighting over health care when most of the nation is paralyzed with fear about dinner table issues -- such as whether there will even be dinner on the table.

It's a cause of wonderment and a sight to behold.

Pile Of B.S.
The current Health Care Bill that passed the House is a pile of B.S. It is not representative of what most Amercans want.
And incidentally comments posted such as teeheehee, heeheeheehee sound like the ravings of an insane Nancy Pelosi rather than a rational person.

Thanks for the information. I agree with you 100%.

Ms. Kelly
I've never had a vaccination for any kind of flu. If I ever had a flu, I recovered from it without seeing a doctor or taking meds.

That's just me. Each has to decide for his/herself.

Healthcare or Obamacare
These are the facts about national healthcare programs.

You can forget Canada, France, and UK. They are all having serious problems. They all have rationed care or long waiting periods, or both.

Australia is the only successful national healthcare and they are not perfect.

Australia has the land mass of the US with only 19-20 million population.

Before they took on national healthcare they were completely debt free, nada, no deficit.

Their plan was Medicare, with private supplement.
They paid for it with a 1-1.5% income tax.

The plan was a good plan in 1984 when it started, but they are now having problems.

They are having 88 day waiting periods for many treatments, plus they decide what treatments you can get now, while in the beginning people were covered for all problems.

They just went to the doctor and the government paid 75-80 % of the bill.

They also have co pays. Prescriptions are out of control just as they are here.

Their government is now in the process of retooling the program because of costs.

People keep talking about public option. Folks, that’s why you need to study up on Australia’s healthcare. They have the public option and they are getting ready to trash it.

What people need to understand is that the US has 300 million citizens, not 19 million as Australia.
We are bankrupt.
Obama is printing money that has no backing.
We are borrowing trillions.
He is getting ready to legalize 20 million Mexicans who are going to be totally dependent upon the government.

The government can’t manage Medicare. It’s got 90 billion in fraud.

Obama says that he is going after that money. I’ll believe when I see it.

We do not need the government involve in the healthcare business.
We need to get serious about practical solutions to lowering healthcare costs, and make them happen.

Polly
I think there is a revolution coming. Whether it will happen in Obama’s administration or not remains to be seen. It would not surprise me one bit for a leftist government to gather info on everyone who has ever posted on TH or other conservative sites and monitor just THOSE PEOPLE. That would include me and you.

I opted not to get the H1N1 vaccination. Partly because I don’t trust anything that gets that much hype and partly because I got swine flu last spring, and it was a mild virus. My point is that there is a lot of controversy over whether some vaccinations are safe. If the Fed takes over running health care, they could made such vaccinations mandatory. They could make a lot of other treatments mandatory also in the name of public health/safety. We would not have the choice to opt out or use our own judgement.

Not to worry, Ms Kelly
I'm not so sure we should worry about the government tracking us.

Remember how, after passage of the Patriot Act, The Left howled in outrage and fear when they learned that George W. Bush would be sitting in a big room listening to all of our telephone conversations with terrorists overseas? They've calmed down now that it's Obama in that big room (he wasn't about to have the Patriot Act repealed!!), but it appears they overreacted.

As it turns out, yes, they've been monitoring our conversations with terrorists, reading Major Hasan's e-mails to al Qaeda, even getting reports of hatred of America. Yet they have found these things to be of little interest. More important is not being judgmental, so they weren't. Heck, they still AREN'T.

So how many people would it take to monitor all of us, even after we all got our tracking chips? And what would they do with the information they collected? It appears that you'll be completely safe--unless you attend a tea party or are a retired military member, of course.

Still, we might be safer if we can send Nancy Pelosi and as many as possible of her sycophants back to their home states, where maybe they can find real, productive jobs.

Maybe some of the jobs Barack's Porkulus funds have saved or created.

Shortly after Obama was elected
I wrote in one of these comments that the Democrats would overreach and Nancy Pelosi would drive the Democrats over the cliff.

Well, she has and now we're just waiting for the next election cycle to start to repair all the damage the Democrats have caused.

Their self-absorption and arrogance may drop the Democrats out of power for another generation. We'll all be better off if that comes to pass.

Really scary stuff
I’ve been reading some articles about vaccinations and their risks and some startling information has come out. The vaccination Gardasil, according to the U.S. FDA, has had “140 serious reports of complications including about three dozen classified as life-threatening, 10 spontaneous abortions and half a dozen cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome”. In addition to this, 18 deaths (10 since September) have also been associated with this vaccine. In spite of this, a bill was introduced into Congress which would require mandatory vaccinations of Gardasil for all school age girls.

A lot of other scary data is attributed to vaccinations including a report that showed a big decrease in Autism cases among children after a mercurial preservative was removed from most vaccines. Before this, parents who raised concerns that mercury in vaccinations might be the cause of Autism were mocked and ridiculed.

The thing that scared me most though is a new product produced by VeriChip Corp. which has the first and only federally approved microchip that can be implanted under the skin to hold a persons entire medical history. This company is also working on technology which will use implanted chips to detect and protect against H1N1 and other diseases deemed a “bio-hazard”.

My question is, if the federal government gets control of the health care industry, they would have broad authority not only to prevent people from getting the treatments they want, but to mandate treatments people may oppose, such as this implanted chip. This is an issue which no one has raised. If the government can implant us with a microchip holding our medical records, they can also implant us with tracking devices, and other sinister tehcno gadgets against our will all under the authority of government health care.

Does this scare anyone else besides me? Rationing may be the least of our concerns under government controlled health care.

Freedom and Independence
These are to two issues. How important is our freedom? How important is our independence?

The majority of americans favor
a Public Option.

Why do republican donors though support and fund abortion?

You're welcome!

heheheheheheeh

There's no money
There's no money in fixing the economy or any problem for that matter. But there is a ton of money in prolonging the problem.

If anyone knows what negative incentives just look at everything the US government does domestically and internationally. It's almost like they don't want to solve any problem...

They couldn't care less...
about the people they represent. They are beholden to the special interests(in this case health-care special interests) that are looking for a handout. Health-care costs continue to go up, the economy has gone down, so the insurers, hospitals and other vested interests want a guaranteed supplement to cover the shortfalls. That means tax increases, in some form, for health coverage on middle and lower class individuals. Businesses can shove their employee's coverage onto the government. This economy is doomed by these people in Washington, Democrat and Republican alike.

Heres what we do know.

A government that can't even run a "Flu Vaccine Program" should not be running a comprehensive healthcare system.

Rationing, doctor shortages, higher costs, death panels, mandates, higher taxes, abortions, limited choice, loss of insurance, loss of jobs.

Way to go Liberals!!! Trying to kill more people aren't you?
