Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

I promise this is the last time I will refer to my new book, "Paranoid Nation." But not in my wildest dreams could there have been a more fitting title or theme to reflect the onslaught of insanity we're bombarded with these days in media. Policy overkill is ruling the times.

For starters, look at the banks. They got hoards of bailout money, but lending hasn't increased. And now that there are restrictions on the use of the funds and the salaries of their executives, many of those same institutions say they won't need a second round of bailout money after all!

Plus, the markets were spooked by the dearth of details provided by the new Treasury secretary on how that second round of aid to financial institutions would work.

Then there are the automakers. Suddenly we learn that they need billions more just to hold on through March, even as they play footsy with the unions by negotiating fake concessions, such as union workers not being paid any more than American workers are paid by foreign automakers. Do they think we are idiots? The foreign automakers are paying Americans as they do because the domestic automakers were paying inflated compensation to start with. The auto industry is hopeless and must be allowed to go into bankruptcy to effect genuine reorganization.

Now for the "stimulus bill." Here we have the largest single appropriations legislation in our nation's history, crafted in a matter of three weeks and voted on without a single member of Congress having read the whole thing. Polling shows that the legislation had only modest national support and, as bits and pieces of its endless bag of goodies are made known, its popularity continues to sink.

Every day we read about new lay-offs in most sectors of the economy. We are told that fear and panic have gripped the nation. Fear of the loss of income has most people sitting on their cash and credit.

Isn't it amazing that we went from immigration being the big topic of concern just a little over a year ago to being told now that the world is on the verge of economic collapse?

The fact is we are being driven into something beyond paranoia and bordering on hysterical paralysis. The culprits are politicians. They want us to believe that throwing a billion dollars here and 10 billion there is routine stuff, as long as it's in the name of alleviating some sort of national emergency.

Now we're being scared witless because we don't know what financial institution will next be revealed as fraudulent -- such as the bunch out of Texas that earlier this week was revealed to have stolen billions from investors.

So are these the last days of Pompeii? Is America soon to simply melt down? Hell, no! What we're now witnessing is a similar meltdown to that which the nation has experienced before in its history, and from which we will recover -- and without spending reckless heaps of good money to chase the bad.

Was some stimulus needed to get things started" Arguably yes. But we didn't need an omnibus entitlement bill that skirted the legitimate appropriations process. Nor was a second round of financial bailouts required; one that even the banks themselves say they didn't need. What wasn't called for was the nationalization of the financial and manufacturing sectors of our economy.

No, these are not the last days. But they are difficult ones, and they may be prolonged rather than abbreviated by the rash manner in which Congress helped turn the crisis into a panic.

Our latest polling has been practically alone in accounting for voters who identified themselves as Democrats as recent as January, but who now have drifted back into the "independent" category. These polls show that the biggest single victim of this mass paranoia may be President Obama. Our surveys show that he has lost 15 points or more in his approval rating in a matter of a month. No mean feat.

The truth is that this whole travesty has been an illness for which the anecdote has made the patient sicker. For the most part, the illness should have been left to run its course. Now Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says that economic projections look healthier further along down the road -- just as they always do following recessions, no matter how lengthy.

Keep an eye on the 2010 congressional elections. They might just signal to President Obama that paranoia, when exploited, can trigger reverse consequences from those intended.

Crisis
Oddly I was watching Fox and both Hannity and Greta had a montague of Obama saying "Crisis" in his speech like 26 times.

I think Hannity joked "In case you didn't know the President wants to let you know we are in a Crisis."

Greta commented too.

They are pointing out in joking way he is driving the spirit of the country down and he should stop before he goes to far with it.

Will it?
I keep hearing that we will weather the storm, the economy will turn around, we need to have faith in the American people, etc. That may be correct, but I don't know how anyone can take that as a forgone conclusion.

If I had to bet on anything, I'd bet we're headed for a very long term recession / depression, possible hyperinflation, and a permanently lowered standard of living.

That seems a lot more likely to me than a recession that lasts a couple of years, followed by a recovery to our former condition, or a close facsimile thereof. I'll be happy to be proven wrong on this one.

I don't know what Ben Bernanke is smoking, but if you look at what's happening around the world (take Eastern Europe for example), I don't see many indications that things are turning a corner.

It seems to me that this thing is still in the early stages, is picking up momentum, and that no one, even and especially those who have some understanding of this complicated issue, has any real idea how this is going to play out.

They need to make rosy predictions in the hopes that the rubes (us) will start spending again, since they seem to feel that will be the key to containing the coming problems.

And yeah, the 2010 elections may serve to check the DEMS power, which is a good thing. But it's not a cure for what ails us.

Ben B knows 10,000 times more about the technical details of this than I ever will, but he's blowing smoke. He has no idea what is going to happen.

Opportunistic Neurosis
BO & Gang are acting like seven year olds on crack, even worse than W & Gang.
The more the government tries to get involved, the worse it gets, like being stuck to the waist in quicksand, the more you panic to get out, the deeper you go.
Government should have stayed out of it, let auto makers, banks etc go out of business, others will fill the void and let the strongest survive. It will happen any way but, after spending trillions of borrowed money sunk into unsustainable business, we will have to reckon with high interest rates, high inflation and confiscatory taxes...if everything goes "well"..In other words, we will be bankrupt, fraudulently, with nothing to show for it.
After all, we have allowed lawyers to run our economy...

The Manchurian President
As one surveys the daily crisis reports emanating out of Washington, D.C., we realize there is something more sinister going on here. If there were adults in charge they would be championing the economy not talking it down on a daily basis. What Obama's minions are doing is championing crisis after crisis so they can install a socialist government and system that will ensure Democrat liberals remain in power for decades and American citizens become, in effect, serfs.

Lenin would be proud of Barack Obama. What's next: Like Chavez in Venezuela, an unlimited term for a Marxist president.

The Manchurian Party
Why do we have a Manchurian President? Well, with the brave exceptions of DeMint & Sanford in SC, no one in the Republican party was seriously publicizing what was in this bill. Where was the Republican crowing over the recent successful election in Iraq? Where is the Republican opposition to strangling the economy in the name of global warming at a time the world is getting colder - and global warming is predicted by the same people who 30 years ago cried wolf about global cooling. There are ways to fight (see below) but the Republicans refuse. WHY?

Re: Manchurian President
An unlimited term? Why not? The second and tenth amendments no longer seem to be observed in any meaningful way. I'm sure "Roosevelt Redux" would welcome an opportunity to shred more of the constitution. (The 22nd amendment, if anyone's counting).

And if we must ignore parts of the constitution, let's rethink the 16th, 17th, and 26th amendments.

Good work, but . . .
I'm not so sure the recovery will occur on schedule. This insistence on Government meddling to the point of Facism must not be taken lightly. We are moving toward a central economy, and investment capital will continue to move away if it doesn't change.

Worst of all, the sympathetic press is likely to convince most of the political/economic illiterates that OBAMA has saved them from total ruin.

Obama said he wanted to "change the trajectory of America" - he has. In a very bad way.

Indolent Voters
Sure, the working public will be sure to get to the polls in 2010, but aren't there more non contribuotrs than actual tax payers? Then we have the illegal ACORN society who will make sure that millions of illegal votes are placed. What we need to do as a nation is rid ourselves of the fleas we have collected. Then, and only then, will we return to business as usual.

REVIVE AMERICA!
I kind of doubt it not after they threw God out of schools and court houses!Apathy has set in and people are comfortable being in a welfare state; where if you vote for me,I'll see that you get three and a cot!You can stay home and drink your BUD and read your porn, stay up late and watch Oprah's new religion,or Springer, unless you like the lite stuff like Ellen Degenerate! The only way this nation will wake up, won't be untill the Chicoms are coming up the Mississippi river!

Too late, Stan...
I'm afraid it may be too late, Stan. The ChiComs don't need to come up the Mississippi River; they already control the Potomic!

Given that the Republicans have no testicular fortitude, if the American voters do not reverse this election result in 2010, the only hope for America will be if we have enough MEN left to take it back the way George Washington and his MEN did. Only then will America climb back to greatness, if it is ever to be.

'Catastrophe' is Obama
The Commander-in-Grief ought to be horsewhipped for continually using rhetoric that attempts to frighten the nation. He has done nothing except fan the flames of class warfare/envy and portray the nation's economic future as calamitous since his election. The fact that this calamity was precipitated by the U.S. Congress seems to have eluded him. To aid with his master scheme, Obama commanded his disciples in Congress to ram through a massive spending/anti-liberty plan that will ultimately do grievous harm to the honest taxpayers of the country and will cause yet more economic damage. The $13.00/week tax break contained therein will do nothing to help 'suffering Americans.' The only persons who might ultimately benefit are the chronic welfare recipients, illegal aliens, unions, ACORN drones, minorities, and corrupt politicians. Members of Congress who voted affirmatively for this boondoggle without even bothering to read it should be impeached and should be replaced with adults who have proven records of integrity, if any of these exist in the political echelons. Americans who are capable of rational thought need to be revived because these are the people that stand to lose everything in this administration. Nonetheless, the primary 'catastrophe' facing the nation is the misery that will result from the election of this man Obama.

Those silent Republicans
jerseyvet, the going hypothesis is that Soros has them by the short hairs, too. I have had some mild, tempered hope for Steele, given that he bezomed-out the RNC HQ on arrival, but no evidence of a turnaround yet.

Correction
That last comment was to foggytrucker, not jersey vet. I blame sleep debt.

Depression is the name of the game...
If BO can convince us that we are in a horrible crisis--and that we need to be badly depressed and horribly afraid of it--then he can control us. More anti-depressants (big pharma wins) more "stuff" to assuge us, (banks win) and more willingness to allow THEM to make the decisions that alter our lives (THEY know better than we do) then we are totally controlled, the testicles of all the American men are in a vice, and the women are too over-medicated to care. TYRANNY prevails!
In 2010--those Blacks (96% remember) who voted for him because they thought he was one of THEM as he was half-Black; will surely vote AGAINST him and his policies (or not vote at all) because they have learned by example that he is in fact actually a half WHITE rich elitist who has no connection with these "poor" people who voted for him. I HOPE I'm wrong, but I know I'm not...

President Amoeba....
"A one-celled microscopic animal consisting of a naked mass of protoplasm constantly changing in shape as it moves and engulfs food.." or in this case our way of life. I certainly don't like or trust Barack Hussein Amoeba. He's starting to engulf the USA in his socialist agenda. That disdain goes for the other amoebas in his presidential petrie dish. He is a disaster of a president.

Correction to prior comment:
By "I hope I'm wrong" I meant that I hope it won't take until 2010 for the real patriots to arise and fight, but I'm still afraid I'm right...

Obama
Our Dear Leader still blames Bush in his speeches for this economic mess. How presidential of him, and what a liar. He is a novice with zero leadership skills or any other meaningful skills for that matter. His fearmongering and porkulus bill that he didn't read are sending the Dow into a tailspin. Thanks voters. This is all on you for being deceived by a Marxist hack. Now I have to live with your ignorance.

I would rather have Denzel Washington as POTUS. He's 100% black, better looking and a good speaker. He can probably improvise better without a teleprompter also. What qualifications does Obama have that he doesn't? Can't think of any either, huh? Nice work libs.

well
I think Limbaugh was right. If Obama fails, America succeeds. We'll have to take a hit in our economy, but if Obama doesn't permanently enlarge our government, we can continue the American dream as our forefathers intended. Obama in one month is already in my book the worst president ever.

Facts
Here is a great article about the lies perpetrated by the left concerning Bush's spending and his "failed theories" about the economy.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/02/who_are_the_big_spen ders.html

Beware libs: The article is teeming with facts.

Uncontitutional
Who is forming the class action suit to force SCOTUS to review this takeover of the US? The fed govmt has enumerated powers, none of which include this porkulus bill.

Most citizens want to think the president wants the best for the nation. In the case of Obama, this is not true; he and his cohorts want power to control our lives. He is ineligible for the office, was born in Kenya (proven by the fact that he is spending a million to prevent the release of his original birth certificate.) He is not a "natural born citizen." He must be removed to save our country. It cannot wait four years. Check out the "eligible forum" on World Net Daily for extensive legal research on this issue.

There are a few things we really
do have to be concerned about, paricularly with this "veto proof" Congress. Specifically, three bills have been introduced in the House: Dizzy Dennis Kucinich's "Department of Peace", which among other abortions, could establish Obama's "Civilian Volunteer Security Force"; Black Panther/SDS Bobby Seals Gun Registration Bill. Which would force registration of all weapons held by civilians, and last but not least, Alcee Hastings bill to establish facilitieas in military bases to hold civilians in "event of disaster". The latter two are HR-45 and HR-645, I get them confused so please look them up. In fact, look them all up, read them, understand that individually they are a danger to the United States and collectively they could rival Stalins Gulags and Hitlers Brownshirts in provoking civil war. And with Holders statements today I wonder if that is what Obama wants.

hail to the chief
America wanted a Black man as President, and you got it. What did you think he was going to do? Take care of conservatives and business? No, he is going right back to a welfare state, and rewarding all the inner cities, and communities. Remember folks, Black is beautiful. I want to throw up.

Bernanke, the low-life...
Why is it that no one...I repeat...no one, will address the question of Who Caused the fallouts? Paulson and Bernanke were two of the biggest losers on the planet who did so. Those filthy scum-buckets outta be put in prison for the rest of their sad and sorry lives.

If the question is never addressed, how does anyone in their right mind think that we'll ever become a sane country again? Or is that what the whole point of everything is?

Now how about revealing the rest of the sludge so we can start to clean up this country.

Correct word choice
Towrey wrote:

Correct word is "antidote."

Anecdote is a short story meant to convey a point of amusement or curiosity.

Antidote is a medicine used to treat acute disease or malady.

Conservatives are supposed to be smarter than progressives...

Gerry Riggs
Might want to look up Irony.

You're using an anecdote to make the claim that progressives are smarter than conservatives.

That is an example of Irony...

gerry riggs
The best you can come up with is one word, there for consevatives are dumb? If you don't agree, then say so, and why.
All it showed me is how little minded you are.
Kirk

Obama's popularity down
by 15 points in his first 30 DAYS in office.

Wonder what it'll look like by 2010 when voters throw OUT the leftist lunatics currently occupying Congress? Buyer's remorse will be arriving in tidal waves.

I am SO glad I did NOT vote for this charletan!

Paranoid
What is the chance of charges of dereliction of duty being brought against the members of congress and the senate of each state by the people, voteing for this bill without reading it. Seems like a good example of this type of charge, anyone have any suggestions?

Recall Elections?
I suggested in our local newspaper that we ought to vote to recall Mark Begich since he voted for the spendulous package. The comments on the on-line version were telling -- people agree with me. And Mark is a Democrat -- we KNEW how he would vote. People still say he should have voted with the Alaska voters and not his party.

If I were a voter in Maine or Pennsylvia, I'd be looking into recall if it's available there.

Obama is not a Republican
And that alone is good enough reason to not have
voted for him.

I can also guarantee you that if he parts the
Red Sea, it would prove nothing to the
Republicans.

Justified Paranoia
We need more early warning articles that will light the fires of dissent so politicians cannot get away with their usual thievery. With this so called “stimulus” plan, really massive spending bill of yet-to-be collected taxes, there should have been a demand for prudence and enough time to examine that gargantuan load of pork by politicians of every persuasion, the media, academia, and voters in general.

If only enough of the voting sheep out there had seen the pretender for what he is and what he stands for, the bozo would not have been elected…not that McLame elicited much excitement either. We desperately need a true blue conservative leader with a steel backbone that can steer the Nation on the path to sanity and prosperity.

Malodorous governance: I don’t know if I can hold my nose (and breath) for four long years. Remove the pretender NOW based on his gross deception of the voters as to his eligibility (born in Kenya or Pluto?) to even run for president.

What I Would Do
Our ruling aristocracy has figured us out and they know we're nothing to fear. Knowing that we are sheep, they can freely tyrannize us.

So what if most of the public disapprove of how we're governed? So what if much of their methods violate the constitution and good sense?

It only matters that after they shake their fists at the sky, Americans quietly go back to work, pay their taxes, and shut their mouths.

Farm animals moo and oink all day long. But when the sun goes down, they slump off to their stahls and go to sleep. This is the lot of grass eaters.

Agricultural beasts of burden have two speeds: graze and stampede. Neither is focused or meaningful. The wise shepherd patiently waits them out, then prods them to their designated parts of the pasture when their done.

If I were in congress, I would raise my pay, travel all over the world to exotic locations and partying with hot chicks, all the while taking more money from my constituents and the taxpayers. Oh what a life that would be.

How else do you rule slaves?

Science
America has now performed the definitive field in vivo experiment, proving that an Angel-of-Light-given talent for manipulation and sheet-disturbing does not extrapolate well to presidential competence.

(You may know that "Angel" by his shorter tag, 'Lucifer'.)

Obama
If we got rid of him, we would have Joe Biden. If we got rid of him, we would Nancy Pelosi. From bad to worse to worst. Obama is smarter, slicker and maybe his ambition will temper his ideology. So far it doesn't seem to have done much though. National security is a low priority with him judging by his choices.

OBAMA "stealing" credit for UBS etc.

THERE you go:
5 years of BUSH team working on taking down UBS, Stanford, Mardoff, and OBAMA is stealing the credit:

THAT HATEFUL HATEFUL Patriot ACT that Bush used to find the 52,000 SUPER TAX cheats:

Names are leaking out as PRIVATE JETS are leaving HOLLYWOOD and NY to escape prision:

Private jets LEAVING the USA !

FOLLOW the money: !
is that swoosh you hear the 52,000 private jets leaving the USA to avoid the frog march in handcuffs when as the names on the UBS list are leaking out ? HOW many are on the Obama donor list ? YOU WONDER ??????

that DA__ Bush and his partiot act:;; he caught them
but Obama is already taking credit for
Mardoff outing
Stanford outing (he needs be very careful here)
that DNC picture of Stanford hugging the big names could come back to haunt him.

IT'S RECONSTRUCTION II
Reading the history after the War Between the States known as Reconstruction gives all well-informed Southerners a sense of complacency. We know the end from the beginning.

After all, the Confederate States of America existed for approximately four years as a separate nation and qualify as the only region of the United States to have suffered defeat and desolation at the hands of our sister Northern states.

At the behest of a vicious, radical Republican Congress carpetbaggers and soldiers swarmed into the South and proceeded to strip Southerners of every civil right, to place corrupt white men and illiterate black freedmen into all political and public offices.

Formerly prosperous states were quickly impoverished as the crooked military rulers proceeded to tax the people out of all property and to abscond with what property they couldn't waste or destroy at the moment.

Electoral fraud was rampant with every possible trick being employed to keep the radical Republicans in power...far more inventive than ACORN, thus far.

The good news is that the Southerners knew their Constitutional rights because they had the most to do with the document's formation. Virginia alone boasted Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Mason and Patrick Henry.

The South did rise again and became stronger and better than ever. To be ridiculed by hyphenate-Americans because we are still the Bible belt reassures us that nothing has changed and we will endure.

Excuse me while I go and watch "Gone With the Wind." It helps one envision how the present carpetbagger and hyphenate-Yankee Congress will get what's coming to them once they have finally run themselves into the ground.

Donald-TN
U talk about "Biden or Pelosi"??
GOOD HEAVENS!! Ask me if I "wanta go BLIND or CRAZY!!
Good observation tho!!

Imagine there's no country...
Thinking about the current order of succession being Obama-Biden-Pelosi is a true mind-bender!

I believe we would be better off having Timothy Leary, Jerry Garcia and Grace Slick in charge. Everything would still be helter-skelter but everyone would be too stoned to care and the outfits would be more interesting. Since we have re-entered the land of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds again with these 60's rejects, you would at least think that they would KNOW where to get all the answers to our problems...go ask Alice while she's ten feet tall! Dig it, man...Peace and Love!

Reply to Hosquatch in KY....
You forgot about Jimi's purple haze, all in our brain...and Country Joe 'fish" McDonald's give me an "F".......and if the libs keep up their stupidity, they may have us all in their yellow submarine in the sea of holes with the "GREEN" meanies........arrrggh...what a fate....

P.S....If that happens, I will just cross over Abbey Road...get into my ship...and become rocket man.
