Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Let me get this straight. Senator Barack Obama is qualified to be the President of the United States, but Governor Sarah Palin is unqualified to be the Vice President of the United States. In what can only be considered the “hey kettle” comment of the campaign, Senator Obama’s spokesman noted upon hearing about Senator John McCain’s selection of Governor Palin: “Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.” This statement comes from the party that a mere twelve hours before had nominated a former state legislator from the south side of Chicago with zero foreign policy experience for the presidency. That is rich.

The fact of the matter is that both Senator Obama and Governor Palin can claim twelve years of elected office experience since 1992. That fact alone should have dissuaded the democrats from raising experience as an issue. Given that Senator Obama quickly distanced himself from his campaign’s comments indicates that he knows that the last debate he should get engaged in is a debate on experience with the republican vice presidential candidate. After all, the mere existence of the debate is proof of his experience deficit as compared to Senator McCain. Nonetheless, a review of each candidate’s activities over the last sixteen years leads to one, incontrovertible finding: Senator Obama’s experience pales in comparison to Governor Palin’s experience.

In 1992, hockey mom Sarah Palin decided to fight a tax proposal in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, so ran for the Wasilla City Council. Palin won that election and served on the Wasilla City Council until 1996. In 1996, Councilwoman Palin, frustrated by wasteful spending and high taxes, challenged the incumbent mayor of Wasilla, and won. She served as mayor until 2002.

Over the course of these ten years, especially the six as Mayor of Wasilla, Palin presided over a $6 million budget and a staff of 80 city employees. Wasilla is home to an estimated 1,100 businesses, including steel fabrication, agricultural, manufacturing, and distribution companies. During Mayor Palin’s tenure, Wasilla experienced one of the strongest employment expansions in the state of Alaska.

In 2002, Mayor Palin ran for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska. In a five-way primary, she lost by a mere 2,000 votes.

Given her strong record of reform, Mayor Palin was appointed as the Ethics Commissioner to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2003. She successfully rooted out republican corruption, but when other republican commission members sided with the status quo, rather then “go along to get along,” Commissioner Palin resigned her position in 2004.

In 2006, Governor Palin challenged the republican establishment in Alaska and ran for the Governor’s Office on a reform agenda. She not only beat the republican machine in Alaska, but also overcame the democrat machine in the general election.

As Governor of Alaska, Governor Palin presides over a $6.6 billion budget and thousands of state employees. She is the only governor in America that shares a border with Russia and Canada, which requires some foreign policy experience given the thawing of the Arctic Ice and the current race by the U.S., Canada, and Russia to claim the now available oil and gas deposits. Because Alaska is a vital energy producing state, Governor Palin quickly has earned her stripes in advancing an energy agenda that helps free the U.S. from its dependence on foreign oil. She spurred the development of a new pipeline from Alaska to the continental United States. As Governor, she traveled to the Middle East to gain a better perspective on the issues there and to support America’s troops in Iraq, including her oldest son.

As the CEO of Wasilla and Alaska, there was/is no decision above Governor Palin’s pay grade. As with all mayors and governors, she knows the buck always stops with her and that she was/is ultimately accountable to the voters for results.

In stark contrast to Governor Palin’s twelve years as an elected CEO and appointed ethics commissioner, Senator Obama’s career from 1992-2008 is thin on substance.

First, Senator Obama spent 3 years practicing law as a civil right lawyers and part-time law professor. He did not manage a budget or employees in either position.

Next, Senator Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996 to represent the south side of Chicago. At most, Senator Obama oversaw a handful of staffers and a small office budget. As a state senator, Senator Obama focused his time and attention on social welfare issues. In eight years, Senator Obama famously voted “present” 130 times, or over sixteen times per year. A “present” vote was an attempt by the caster to escape accountability on a particular piece of legislation or issue.

In 2000, Senator Obama ran for the U.S. House of Representatives. In a two-way primary, he lost by a 2 to 1 margin.

In 2004, Senator Obama ran for the U.S. Senate, and won. Just as with the Illinois State Senate, Senator Obama oversees a handful of staff and a small office budget. In his three and a half years in the U.S. Senate, based on the lack of accomplishments listed during the Democrat National Convention, Senator Obama hasn’t done much. Given that he has spent the last year and a half campaigning for the presidency, such a lack of outcomes isn’t that surprising. Senator Obama has toured foreign countries, including the Middle East.

So, at a time when wasteful spending pervades Washington, D.C., oil and gas prices are too high, reform is desperately needed, Russia is invading a democratic neighbor, partisanship is at an all-time high, and economic growth is anemic, who has the experience to make a real difference? Over the last 16 years, Governor Palin, having lived her life a missiles throw from the Soviet Union and a resurgent autocratic Russia, has managed anywhere from $6 million to $6.6 billion and thousands of employees, lowered taxes, grew the economy, enhanced America’s energy supplies, reformed government, took on her own party, and added 4 children to her family. During that same time, Senator Obama practiced and taught law, voted on legislation, and ran for the presidency. In his time in the Illinois and U.S. Senate, Senator Obama, despite his call for bipartisanship, has not bucked his party on a single major issue. Not one.

There is a reason voters prefer governors in favor of legislators for the presidency. Legislators talk about change. Governors create change.

Another way to state it: Actions speak louder than words.

Less than maximum experience
If I am going to have someone with less than the maximum desired experience in a prominent public office, I sure as heck would rather have that person in the VP, No. 2 slot than in the Numero Uno, commander-in-chief slot.

Much as I don't like Biden, as least he has some experience doing something. Barack isn't qualified to be anything other than what he is (and even that is questionable). Sarah's nomination is good for him though -- it's allowing him to show his sexist arrogance. Maybe that will help the less cerebral Americans who support him see his true colors.

Barack may not have managed employees or projects or budgets -- but there IS one thing he knows how to manage. The mainstream media. He is entirely a creation of the media and he has just about the commensurate depth. May he go down in flames and be forgotten as quickly as he rose to prominence.

Palin may have limited experience
but she does have real executive exp. of which O and B have none. Or maybe I should write B-O have no exec. exp.
Palin has been both a mayor and altho' a two-yr. gov., she has worked to clean up the Reps. in AL and knows about oil, pipelines, real wilderness (not just squirrels in Central Park), and the need for statewide employment.
As to his "wife and mother" bullsh*t, Palin should start calling O "dearie" and "honey."

On "Foreign Policy Experience"
Last I checked, Alaska borders on BC and Yukon, both of which are parts of Canada--a separate nation. Having to deal with the Premiers of these would inevitably be (albeit minor) matters of foreign policy.

In 0blahma's case, no FP experience prior to his deciding to run for President (living in Indonesia and Kenya prior to starting into politics DOES NOT involve FP).

(and it also didn't hurt McCain/Palin ticket that I can in a contorted way consider Palin as a "neighbour"; she was born in Sandpoint, ID--very close to BC border and also within 300 miles of Calgary, AB where I was raised)

On the nail renny
One (minor) mistake in your post. You wrote "she has worked to clean up the Reps. in AL....". Abbreviation for Alaska is AK--AL is Alabama.

How about credit
for Palin's role as commander of the AK National Guard?

I haven't researched it, but I'll bet she's leader of more men in uniform than McCain ever was.

Naturally, lefties will be out in force spewing their nanner, nanner/neener, neener, childish, petty and downright mean garbage. The faked pregnancy story is about as low as they can get, and even if it were true, it still shows the respect for life and family values of this woman.

The way they've reacted so far tells me they are completely panicked by Palin. Personally, I think I'm in love. I'm really interested to know what calibers she uses for moose, caribou, bear, sheep and liberals roaming AK.

Woo Hoo!!! Squeal little dhimmicrat piggies. Sarah The Barracuda is going to send you wee, wee, weeing - all the way home.

Palin's Executive Experience

Includes saying "no" to unnecessary government spending of my tax dollars.

The problem with electing Senators is that they are used to spending money in the BILLIONS! After a while, money is meaningless to them, especially because most of them are very rich themselves.

They don't even pause to think that increases in spending that seem tiny to them are enormous to me, considering that I am still paying the IRS for my 2005 and 2006 taxes!

I would be very happy if all these rich contributors to the Obama campaign took all of that money and gave it to the poor instead of taking it out of my pockets.

Somehow, Sarah Palin's frugle actions as the Governor of Alaska gives me comfort that she knows what it is like to live on a budget, and how hard it is for the average joe to make ends meet.

Reality check
Look folks, I understand wanting to believe your side's spin, but this is ridiculous! Sarah Palin is the VP pick of a 72-year old cancer survivor, so her qualifications to step in as POTUS are the main issue. Let's compare them with Obama's:
Education: Palin has a B.S. in communications-journalism from U. of Idaho; Obama graduated from Columbia U., got his law degree at Harvard (where he was picked to be president of the prestigious Harvard Law Review), & taught constitutional law at the U. of Chicago Law School. Work experience: Palin was a sports reporter for an anchorage tv station & worked in commercial fishing; Obama was a community organizer in Chicago, & then a civil rights attorney. Political exp: Palin served on the city council & as the mayor of a town of less than 7000 people, served on a state board on energy issues, and has served for 21 months as governor of a state of less than 700,000 people with very different economic & demographic issues than the rest of the country; Obama served as a state senator in Illinois (pop. 13 million), & in the U.S. senate since 2004 having assignments in Veterans Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Relations, Environment & Public Works, & Homeland Security, & he travelled on senate business to eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, & Russia (where, with Dick Lugar, he worked on non-proliferation issues). In addition, Obama has managed an upstart campaign that defeated the most powerful & experienced political machine in the Dem. party, & built up a grass roots fund-raising movement unmatched in the history of American politics.
Let's base this election on facts not fairy-tales.

Corruption
When Sarah Palin uncovered corruption, even in her own party , she fought and defeated it. She seems to have a very strong sense of right and wrong. Senator Obama apparently never saw corruption in south Chicago politics. Never noticed Bill Ayers. Never saw anything wrong with Reverand Wright. Bought a house with Tony Rezko. Apparently his crap detector doesn't work. Can you imagine Sarah Palin going to church and hearing Reverand Wright. He wouldn't have gotten to finish his diatribe before she would have been in his face. Obama hasn't seen anyone worth fighting against. See no evil ,hear no evil. He changed nothing. She changed everything

The commiecrats will be sorry that they
raised this stupid issue. H*ll, I'm glad they did. They have operatives digging all over Alaska now looking for dirt while their minions under the cover of sock puppet names on the internet are spreading one lie after another trying to get someone to believe them.

When the party hacks find something they actually think is good dirt they will commence screaming and all these references to experience, false babies, and using improper influence to fire a poor innocent cop will be forgotten.

All Obama has...
...are a bunch of feel good ideas - which aren't even his. This article does a good job of pointing out the vast difference in experience between the two.

And it is (as are so many things in dealing with Democrats) the height of hypocracy that Dhimwits consider Obama's experience for President superior to Palin's qualifications for VP.

Additionally
Sarah Palin has been the co-owner of a commercial fishing operation with her husband since 1988. She was also the owner of a snow machine, watercraft and all-terrain vehicle business from 1994 to 1997. Her direct involvement in small businesses as an owner operator gives her business executive experience totally lacking in the Democrat ticket. Neither Obama nor Biden have hands on business experience. In fact, neither has ever run anything but a political campaign and a small senate staff. Having direct business experience gives a legislator or a government executive an invaluable knowledge of the difficulties faced by our nation's most important employers.

Obama's experience
is essentially nonexistent. Regardless of which, his socialist policies are abhorrent to the majority of Americans. I've seen enough articles insinuating that I'm a racist if I don't vote for Obama. Here's a clue for the authors of such tripe, Obama's family is white. His father abandoned him and he was raised by white folks. The fact that, by his own admission, he is a Marxist is enough for me to show up on Nov. 4th and pull the lever for McCain.

3rdCitizen
I don't consider being a graduate of Harvard Law School to be a positive thing. The U of Idaho probably has a real curriculum. Yeah, what we need is 2 more lawyers in politics, especially one who can't even do his own homework.

Hillary "better qualified"?
I am amazed at the self-hypnosis of the left. First they pretend that being married to a president qualifies you for the presidency. Then they have the audacity to say that it better qualifies you for the presidency than actually running a government yourself.

Hillary has never drafted a budget, exercised veto power, made political appointments (unless you count picking Janet Reno as Attorney General for her husband, which is nothing to brag about), or commanded troops in an emergency. Governor Palin has distinguished herself as a bold leader in her political career, and has actual experience GOVERNING, which Clinton lacks.

Let he who is without bias...
So, let me get this straight: If the situation were reversed & it was the Democrat who had Palin's resume & the Republican who had Obama's, you'd all be conceding that even though you preferred your candidate on the issues, you had to admit that a bachelor of science in journalism, being mayor of a small town & serving for less than 2 years as governor Alaska trumped your candidate's Harvard law degree, experience in the Illinois state senate & the U.S. senate, & managing a highly effective, come-from-behind presidential campaign that was widely praised for its organization? Right?

3rdCitizen
By all means, bring Obama's Harvard education into this. He refuses to release his transcript; why? If his Harvard education is one of his important attributes, then we have a right to know how he did.

Experience
The whole country would be better off if our politicians had less political experience and more real life experience.

Congress has single-digit (guess which digit!) approval ratings, because they have lost touch with real America. If "experience" means more of the same wasteful spending, corruption, and disregard for what's best for this country, then we don't need "experience," we need change.

Obama garnered a lot of attention when he started his campaign, because he promised that kind of change. Time has demonstrated that he is nothing more than the same old tired politics.

Is Palin the change we have been waiting for? I don't know yet, but I'm willing to take an open and honest look. We can always hope.

3rdCitizen
You said "So, let me get this straight: If the situation were reversed & it was the Democrat who had Palin's resume & the Republican who had Obama's.... etc".

Sorry, you're stuck with Obama's resume. We're sticking with Palin with no regrets.

Experience
Palin knows how to manage a P&L statement and has been accountable for one, if not more than one. Uh,uh,uhbama probably doesn't know what P&L stands for. In fact, his policies will lead to much more L than P, because profit is a dirty word to the neo-commies.

Give me Palin any day.

Terrified dems
Folks, we know the dems are terrified because now there will be substance in this campaign (just read 3rdcitizen's pitiful entry). The comparison, well in all honesty, one can say there is really no comparison between McCain/Palin and Slick/and the Clown! Also can anyone see Slick as a Republican (3rdcitizen's next post)? Jeepers, talk about desperation!

3rd Citizen
Don't argue with fools. You only become a fool yourself. They know she's not qualified. The fact of the matter is the Dems had one of the most watched and successful conventions ever and Repubs are nervous as hell. This pick was from a nervous posture. If he picked condi rice or someone like that, at least it would be understandable. But Palin? The city i live in is bigger than the state she governed. The college i went to had more students than there are citizens in Wasilla. Is the dean of the college qualified to be VP? He has executive experience. What a joke. Rove said Tim Kaine wasn't qualified because he was the mayor of the 105th biggest city in America. I wonder what rank is Wasilla? Or how many cities have more population than Alaska? Conservatism is a dying movement. Progressives are the future. Period. We're looking forward to '08. Repubs aren't so much.

Where are his professional backers #7?
#7

If we're talking substantive accomplishments here, where are his supporting testimonials. Have you noticed that Senator Obama has not a single individual beside him who is naming accomplishments for Obama's political history? That could be that Ayers, Wright and Rezko, who know his last 20 years best, would not be a good choice to fulfill this important support role. And, why is it that his autobiographical works don't mention any specifics?

Don't worry
Barry the Boob now has pappy-president Joe Biden; who has just made sure that should he and Barry get elected (God help us) Israel will go to war on November 5th, by declaring that 'Israel should reconcile itself to a nuclear Iran' - meaning the US under him will do nothing to stop it; not even pretend to negotiate like the Europeans do.

Obama, What a loser
Like Gov. Mike Huckabee said Gov. Sarah Palin made more very important and far reaching decisions on a daily basis as both Governor and even as a Mayor than Obama ever made in all his short time in the Senate, most of which was spent running for President. To quote Gov. Palin "The only thing that Obama has ever run is his mouth."

kevin
....guess which digit" I LOVE IT!!!

It's about time we gave congress a "digit." They aren't content with just flipping us off - they want us bent over, grabbing our ankles.

I hear on the top of the hour news that Gov. Palin's oldest daughter is, in fact, pregnant, and planning to (gasp) have the baby.

Another check for Palin as far as I'm concerned. Unlike Barry Apollo Obama, who wouldn't "punish" his daughters with a baby.

Sarah The Barracuda isn't like Plugs Biden, Maverick McCain, and the Black Messiah - she's a REAL person, with a real life, not a professional politician.

She's a danger to lefties and they're going to attack her with all guns blazing because she'll connect with the people in ways they can only wish their boy will.

But, but, but...
Obama was--drum roll, please--a "community organizer"! Wow. For ACORN, no less. Wow. A demo/lib/commie organization from day one. How impressive.

What worries the left is that Sarah Palin is a real woman with a real family and real common sense, qualities admired by the right and abhorred by the left.

Real Reality Check
3rd Citizen - let's boil Obama's "qualifications" as you wrote about them down to three words - he's a lawyer. We've had enough of the lawyers screwing this country up. I think Alaska fishermen (and fisherwomen) would use lawyers for chum. Law school is simply a drama school for liberals. It's where they learn to bite their lip and feel our pain. Know why law school is so long? To have enough time for the lobotomy scar to heal. The Democrat ticket has two lawyers on it, the Republican ticket none. That's enough for me to know. McCain -Palin 2008.

My friend argues that Obama is now CEO
of a major corporation (his own campaign) -- but is he really running that show, or is he just the front man? George Soros is behind Obama -- right? And who else? The Kennedy clan?

Governor of Alaska clearly has more responsibility than Senator from Delaware -- and Biden has been the dilletante Senator since he was barely out of short pants. But it is not "experience" that matters -- it is resolve. Obama is a Communist organizer, and Palin believes in human freedom.

3rdCitizen: We TRUST Sarah Palin
The main point you seem to be missing is that America knows it can trust Sarah Palin. She's a true-blue American, and can be trusted to watch our back. We'd welcome her into our foxhole if push came to shove.

Obama's main problem is that we know we can't trust him. That's already been set in concrete, and it's dried rock solid. Obama is not to be entrusted with the supreme power of POTUS, ever. Down-play Sarah Palin's resume, if you can, but she's still by far the superior person. Character, integrity, intelligence, loyalty, love of country, love of God, guns and family. She's absolutely perfect for the position of VP, and POTUS in 2012.

3rdCitizen
Thank you. I couldn't have made the case for Palin any better than you did.

HaHa! Our #2 trumps your #1?
Keep arguing, Commies, keep comparing our #2 to your #1!

You even lose that argument! Ha Ha Ha!

To akk idiot libtards with their
stupid "experience" argument.

Who has the MOST experience right now? Why Bush of course, he has 8 years as Gov of TX and 7 years as president.

I guess he shoud run again.

It's Really Quite Simple
If Sarah Palin is "unqualified" to be "a heartbeat away" from the presidency, Barack Obama is even less "qualified" to be the president. Her resume may be a bit blue color compared to his, but if we are talking about results achieved she is light-years beyond the guy who can't even be bothered to do the job he has, preferring to talk about "what he will do" when he is no longer asking for a better job than the one he has.

If we should all be worried about this woman becoming president through the death or incapacitation of John McCain, we should all be even more worried about Obama becoming president through the idiocy of the American voter. He brings less to the table than she does, and if elected he goes straight to the head of table.

And the foreign policy argument is a complete and utter smoke job. Barack Obama has no experience in foreign policy, and judging from his unwillingness to hold a single hearing of the foreign policy committee he chairs since taking that post, he has no real interest in it either.

I still can't stand McCain, but I look forward to the debate between Palin and Biden. Joe's going to have to pay the media off big time to keep the questions away from energy issues, where she will stomp on him.

3rdcitzen
Hey keep it up. If you libdolts want to debate your POTUS candidates experience against our VP candidates and have him edge her out - you've already lost. And if you think his however many years as a Senator is the clincher, no matter how long he's done it, McCain (the true opponent meat) has BO beat by a mile.

You guys are just pathetic.

McCain's Judgement
Obama has executive experience by running an excellent campain for nearly two years and below is his resume. There is no way a person from a small town compares to this. You people frighten me. Clearly you just want to win a campaign at the cost of the country's safety. You should be ashamed:

Barack Obama's resume

To Beau
Thin resume. A lot of school and a lot of working for someone else, but never in charge of anything.
As long as you keep arguing that his experience is greater than hers, you have already lost the conversation because SHE is not running for Pres.
As for that 'heartbeat away' argument - if that happens, she can simply select a more experienced VP (kinda like the O is doing right now).
The dims have their ticket upside down, the guy with no experience on top and the guy with the long career in Washington on the bottom.
So what is it going to be - experience or change. Because SHE has caused change to happen, the O - well, uh, he uh, talks about it alot.

I'm not worried
Given BO's past where he uses his current job to move on to the next more desirable job, even if he is elected POTUS it is clearly just a staging position for his most coveted position-
Prime Minister of Russia. So don't fret, folks. He only served as Senator for 143 days before campaigning for POTUS. I wouldn't give him till February 1st before he inquires about the Prime Ministers job in Russia.

Govenor of the welfare state.
Alaskans, who pay no income tax or sales tax, and receive a yearly gov't stipend just for being citizens, receive $1.84 in federal goodies for every tax dollar they send to Washington.

A third of the state workforce works for the government.

Additionally, Alaska has no manufacturing, agriculture, or nationwide service providers.

There are less than 200 homes in foreclosure in the entire state.

What in any of this prepares Palin for the myriad challenges we face down here in the lower 48 where the population is not dependent on the government dole?

Sarah Palin
What an exciting wonderful choice for VP. I am just thrilled that Senator McCain chose a real American with American values. This shows thar he has earned his "maverick" reputation,
Now here is a candidate of CHANGE which BO had been promising, then chose Biden (35 yrs. in
Senate--change??? What change???)
She's pro-life, member of the NRA, fishes, hunts, snowmobiles and supports drilling in ANWR and she is for traditional marriage.,

Beau
"Obama has executive experience by running an excellent campain (sic)"

That's funny - he burns money at government rates, can't speak without a prompter, and never worked for a PROFIT making organization. The MSM does his campaigning for him.

Maybe he was a token and they pushed him through.

You're really funny!

Rush is Right On...
“[The media] want this Hurricane to illustrate the incompetence of Republicans again; that’s going to backfire on them with Governor [Bobby] Jindal down there running things... If you put a conservative Republican in charge of a state rather than a couple liberal Democrats like Nagin and Blanco, you’re going to see the difference if this happens. But while Drive-Bys and the Democrats are keeping a sharp eye out on Hurricane Gustav, category three; Hurricane Sarah struck the Democrats and made landfall [Friday] as a category 10 and global warming had nothing to do with it!” —Rush Limbau

Mccain / Palin will DRILL::: NOW:::

the only critical issue facing this nation and its 300 million citizens is

ENERGY
ENERGY
ENERGY

HEAT< LIGHTS< FOOD< GAS

gas to get to work to earn a living to save and invest to pay the taxes:

gas to get to school to get an education to get a job to earn a living to meet all of your obligations and responsibilities

HEAT:: LIGHTS at school and at work

FEED the CORN to the cows, chickens etc. to get back to affordable food

STOP BURNING our food in the gas tank:
to make affordable bread, etc.

I know that the GOP reigns supreme but..
Should it not concern us a little bit when the party's presumptive nominee chooses a candidate who: 1. Belonged to a fringe party who advocated Alaska withdrawing from the union...you know, the USA??? 2. Was FOR the Bridge to Nowhere before she was AGAINST it?...3. Claims National Guard experience as a substitue for Foreign Policy experience when the Gov has NO MILITARY JURISDICTION over the guard???....4. Predates her current legal battle over misuse of office with a similar one while she was mayor??....5. Backs up her "reform" cred by being a listed officer in a 527 aimed to aid the indicted Ted Stevens?...6. ACCEPTS the invite for VP while KNOWING all of this was in her background AND while fully aware that she needed to care for a special needs child whom she add AFTER "flying back to AK from TX after her water broke" AND weeks after hearing that her teenage daughter was expecting?.... I'm starting to feel like I don't live in the same country as some of these commenters. Gee, that must make me something like McCain's VP pick!!!

Experience is as experience does

Both Senators McCain and Obama have spent the last many years, in the sometimes to us, tiresome cauldron of Presidential politics in which they have had to interact with advisors on national and international issues on a daily basis. That is a level of experience that is rare for anyone. If having every phrase parsed by people like yourself does not force someone to get up-to-speed with issues, I don't know what does.

That is also completely different from the world of a small-population state governor from Alaska or even a Delaware senator.

If Sarah Palin is qualified let us hear it from her. Does she understand the nuances of the Georgia/Russia debacle that McCain can only see in a Cold War mindset? Does she understand that "they didn't end the stone age because they ran out of stones" and put her state's resources into that framework? Does she understand that American unilateralism has eroded the "American Brand" internationally to a frightening extent?

Does Sarah understand that starting a war in Iraq was a mistake to the extent that she would know how not to make the same mistake the next time?

The presidency and even the vice presidency are not jobs with obvious experience tracks. People with a variety of backgrounds have done both well and poorly. It is about character and insight. That is what this election should be about.

Beau
To put it simply, your man has voted "present" over 125 times. Sarah Palin has taken some tough stands on issues and has never been given the luxury of just voting "present".

Obama makes the comment "above my pay grade." Sarah Palin has never said anything like that. Obama has always taken the easy way out and has NEVER voted against the wishes of his own party. A sock puppet could vote "present" - just put over the back of his vacated chair and everyone would know it was there without it even having to "vote" to show it was present.

I think you are a socialist, and that you are hoping to be one of the recipients of the goverment hand outs when your Liberal Ticket is in Office.
What happens when all the workers get tired of supporting all of the lazy people and decide to cash in on the free ride as well?
No one is working then.
Seriously. You call america Unilateral. Do you even have any idea how much we have given to other countries to try and help thier poor and weak, and only end up feeding their dictators and weakening ourselves in the process? THAT is because of the BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS...
Grow a Brain, Pull your head OUT of your Rectum, and try to immagine being responsible for your actions for once and not try to make it the Government's job to think for you.

Palin the only authentic person running-
The position of POTUS is so unique that there is no way on earth to prepare for it. The president has many people to take care of all the details and inform him in depth concerning everything he needs to know to make excellent decisions. It is all about making decisions with moral integrity, courage and wisdom. Therefore, a person seeking to prepare to be president should make it his primary goal to gain as much mature judgment and strength of character as possible. Of the four people involved in this political confrontation, Sarah Palin is the only one who is the real deal. She is the only authentic presidential type, in fact, the only genuine, authentic person, available for whom to vote.

Obama Alone Gets A Pass On Vetting
As the 2008 Presidential election campaign is heading into the stretch, one can't help but be aware that the Democrat nominee will not be vetted, with the help of the mainstream media [and now the U of I Chicago).

All the other candidates, and would-be contenders for the Presidency of the United States of America, which is without question, the most powerful and important executive position in the entire world, are being fully vetted, but the MSM shows absolutely no interest in what information might be contained in the U of I documents.

Now, it's Gov. Sarah Palin & her family's turn to be sacrificed by the left-loving MSM on the altar of Obamanation. Pregnant teenage daughter...Oh my!!

Predictably, there is one glaring exception to this political vetting process, namely: one Barack Hussein Obama!

We will remain left to wonder exactly what horse the Lone Stranger has rode into town on.

No MSM attempts have ever been (or ever will be) made in finding out the extent to which this man of mystery and anger, shares the views of his close friend and U.S. Capitol building bomber, William Ayres, who he worked with on more than one foundation over a period of 10 or 15 yrs., or Antonin "Tony" Rezko, or Rashid Khaladi, the (former?) PLO operative. We are left to the construction of our own idea of who this man is by gleaning some insight, via youtube.com or other blogspots, of his cadre of mentors, advisors, and other radical-leftist/Marxist associations; then, only because of their precelebratory orgiastic verbal eruptions drawing attention to their very vitriolic hatred for all things American and which are not included in the "black liberation theology" worldview.

No. Liberals & the MSM are only concerned that a 17 year old daughter would take a pregnancy to full-term.

It would have been much more palatable to them had she undergone an abortion (or two).

Reply to "TruthHurts," post no. 5
1. It takes an enormous amount of insight to understand that we need to take some states out of the Union as havens for those of us who do not want to go down with this ship of state should the liberals gain absolute control. I would love to take Texas back to the sovereign Republic it was before voluntarily joining the Union.

2. She was for the bridge before she was informed that it did not go anywhere. Once she found out, she immediately stopped the waste of taxpayer funds.

3. The govenor of Texas commands the national guard here, so if the govenor of Alaska does not do so for their guard troops, then who does? It is ludicrous slander to say that she claims foreign policy experience because of having anything to do with the national guard. The two have nothing to do with each other.

4. The creeps whom she humiliated by pointing out their corruption are trying to get back at her by "investigating" her. Degenerate idiots.

5. She initially thought Mr. Stevens was one of the good guys. Later, evidence proved that judgment to be inaccurate. She no longer supports Mr. Stevens in any way nor would she have had she known his true character from the beginning.

6. She has others who can take excellent care of the special needs child while she is serving her country in an extremely important way.

7. Her expectant daughter plans to marry the father of her child who will then take care of them both. No problem.

MCAMNESTY IS THE PROBLEM
Sarah would have been fine with a President Romney, who has the intelligence, education, experience, level headedness, and good health to give her eight years of good VP experience. McAmnesty has none of those good qualities, plus he is a "war hero" fraud as his military records would show if he would release them, so Sarah is NOT qualified because we need a VP ready to be President NOW.

Gustav X Katrina
What a difference !
Katrina disastrously mismanaged by Democrat Gov. Blanco.
Gustav running as smooth as FL Hurricanes under the Republican Management of Gov. Jindal.
I rest my case...

Gov. Palin
Buy thhe September issue of NEWSMAX magazine.
Gov. Palin is on the cover and there is an article inside.
She is listed as one of the 25 most influential figures.

Bryce
No sales tax???? You can't accuse her of raising sales tax in one breath while saying there is no sales tax in the other.

Earth to Dems:
Palin is running for #2, Obama is running for #1. Let me repeat that to make sure your slow brains can grasp the concept: Palin is running for #2, Obama is running for #1.

We are honored that you have elevated our #2 to the status of your #1. We weren't expecting this gift from you, but we are glad to receive it.

iowa patn keeps lying about
Mccain's war record as if he actually knows something, which he does not of course. I've called him a cowardly liar here in the past and do it again this morning.....you must be getting paid by the dems or you are so eaten up with your own cowardice and lack of service that you insist on demeaning those who have risked their lives and suffered for their country..the Navy doesn't award the Silver Star and about 25 other medals to just anyone...must be terrible to be such a loser as you.
And to beau, if you believe bambi is running his own campaign you are as delusional as he is. Campaigns are run by professionals with more experience in that type of organization than the candidates, they might learn a few things along the way, but in charge..no way.

I can see Mccain having the final say on everything, but bambi has no logistics experience since he has no military experience, actually he has NO experience.

Sarah Palin has....

guts and guts is enough!* Palin alone has more substance than draft dodger Joe and the artfully nuanced Earbama. Standing at the precipice of a new cold war whom do you think Putin would have the most respect for, Palin or the lets negotiate Earbama?

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Palin knows how many states make up the USA.

You cannot say that about your Ivy League grad.

What's Obama inhaling?
"Everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma, they end up taking up a hospital bed, it costs, when if you, they just gave, you gave treatment early, and they got some treatment, and a breathalyzer, or an inhalator, not a breathalyzer. I haven't had a lot of sleep in the last 48 hours, so. If they had an inhalator, inhaler, I'm still stumbling over this word. You know what I mean. You know what I mean. Then we would save money."

And we close with this lovely thought:

"What they'll say is, well it will cost too much money. It would cost about, it it it would cost about the same as what we would spend … it … o-over the course of ten years it would cost what it would cost us…it it. Alright, okay, we're going to. It-it would cost us about the same as it would cost for about hold on one second I can't hear myself. But I'm glad you're fired up though. I'm glad..."

The Truth
We all know that Barack Obama was chosen because he is black and that Sarah Palin was chosen because she is a woman. That's politics. But the truth is Barack Obama is only half-black but Sarah Palin is all woman.

Presidential Qualifications...Experience
"Article II.Section 1:
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of
America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together
with the Vice-President chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:..."

Executive experience. Palin has it in spades, but it seem neither of the Democrats does.

Presidential Quals...Constitution
"Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following
Oath or Affirmation:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of
President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve,
protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Obama cannot take this oath. He has no respect for the US Constitution and will not defend it.

Presidential Qualifications... Military
"Section 2
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United
States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual
Service of the United States;"

Obama has stated that he intends to decimate the US Military. He has no respect for our service members and holds mainstream popular international opinion above the sovereignty of the USA. He is practacally and morally unqualified to lead any US Service Member in any context.

Presidential Qualifications... all
In every contextual element stated in the US Constitution, Governor Palin meets the operational requirements quite handily. Senator Obama does not. She is more qualified in terms of executive experience with a solid record of accomplishment, moral integrity proven time and again by her work to thwart graft and bad behavior in government, and her commitment to uphold the traditional Constitutional values of this greatest nation on Earth. She displays an undiluted love of Country which is anathema to Obama and his ilk.

She is actually more qualified to be POTUS than anyone else in the race.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS
We still have to learn exactly what a community organizer organizes. Without the proper enlightenment, I would guess that he gets people together to milk the public largesse.

Let's be totally honest here...
Anyone who thinks Barack Obama and Joe Biden is a better choice than John McCain and Sarah Palin is not at all Conservative.

They are either leftists or what Lenin called "useful idiots".

ROPATI
Actualy he was "organizing" for ACORN. That means he was registering dead people and fake people to vote.

So Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant...
I'll bet her child will have a birth certificate so that 46 years from now, if that man/woman decides to run for president, there will be proof of being an American born citizen.

Has Obama every really put to rest the question of his citizenship? Some think not. http://www.timesherald.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20089295&B RD=1672&PAG=461&dept_id=33380&rfi=6

One thing I see wrong...
is that our GOP ticket is upside down. Sarah Palin actually has more experience for the #1 slot than McCain.

But I will take that inversion for now and hope for a future correction in 2012.

To the Point
Great article! Put plain and simply, Gov. Palin has taken full opportunity of her position to make serious decisions in an executive role and STILL was voted as the governor with the highest approval rating in the nation.

The DemoRats live in
fantasyland sometimes.......here's an example:

Follow the yellow brick road....follow the yellow brick road, FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD...we're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Uh's....because, because, becauseeeee, because, becauseeee....of the many wonderful "uh's" he does.....

The MSM and Palin?

"I'll get you, my pretty"

(From the Wizard of Oz)

Commander In Chief
How about the fact that Sarah has been the Copmmander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard, commanding thousands of military troops.
Obama has not even been in the military service.

The Pattern of the Left....

Especially since Friday, the comments from B-HO and Biden,
the MSM, the pundits and the poseurs, and bloggers of the left,
down to and including the Leftrolls here on TH, follow a pattern.

They are furiously digging for dirt on Governor Palin,
and there seems to be no limit as to how low they will sink…

Meanwhile, they simultaneously shovel their manure on B-HO’s
past and connections, to COVERUP his many serious negatives.

Look at the claims of B-HO and all his cheerleaders-
NONE of them will address his radical ideas and links to corruption-
Alinsky, ACORN, Wright, Rezko, Ayres, R. Khalidi, and on, and on.

Honesty, in short supply on the left, requires a consideration of
BOTH the positives AND the negatives-

B-HO’s negatives far outweigh the negatives of Governor Palin.

When will his apologists and supporters discuss his negatives?

Never.....

Palin trumps Obama
Quick background:Black conservative in Chicago. Now to the meat. Obama is a joke. To all the Dems screaming about experience, let me put it to you in a simple analogy. No one told me this, I came up with it on my own. Let's say that you work for Wal-Mart as a cashier (Wal-Mart was chosen b/c dems hate capitalism and loathe Wal-Mart). You have been a cashier for about a year, but now you decide you want to advance your career with the company. Great. But you do not want to be head cashier, you want to be CFO. WHAT? that is right, that is equivalent to what Obama is doing. Also, when it comes down military experience, McCain has a lot of it. In fact McCain's son and Palin's son will both be going to Iraq (I think McCain's son is already there). There sons have military experience, but Captain Hair Plugs and Bama have none. You guys are a joke.

RoddRepub

Dear 3rd Citizen...
OK, so Obama has spent more of his life in school - and at very elite schools to boot. All that means is he really doesn't come from the "rags to riches" background he would like us to believe. And it appears that he is intelligent. Nobody said he was stupid. They just say he's never done anything of any substance - which is true.

But when you run your campaign on a theme of CHANGE, you have to show some ability to make change happen. And Obama's RECORD does not show that he is a man who makes change happen. His voting record - when he actually shows up and takes a stand - is one of voting with the left-wing Dems on EVERYTHING. This isn't a reformer. This is just "more of the same"

I am a businessperson, and when I hire people I have the philosophy that "past performance is the best predictor of future behavior." I can't read Obama's heart or his mind. I can only look at his past performance to know that he is an Ultra-left-wing candidate with strong socialist leanings who has hardly even shown up to do the job he was hired to do and for which we the taxpayers are paying him for the past couple of years. He can't even win local elections against a strong opponent. The only reason he is a Senator is because of a nasty divorce scandal on the part of a strong opponent, and the replacement of that opponent with a weak candidate.

I hope and pray the Obama campaign goes down in flames in the great Democratic tradition of Stevenson, McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis.

Commie Stooges Never Answered My Questio
I never did see a reply back from the commies yesterday on my experience post. What about it liberal vomit stooges, by your reckoning Bush has the most qualifications of any of them and should be reelected.

The debate we should be having
The McCain Campaign needs to pull out all the stops to make the same contrast between Obama and Palin as Matt Mayer has done in this article. Unfortunately, with the exception of such new media forums as Townhall, it is the only place such a comparison will be seen.

Between the MSM and the Obama campaign, the arguments will center around her pregnant daughter and what a poor mother she will be to her own newborn with Downs Syndrome. Add a few beneath slime rumors as to who is actually the mother of the latest member of the Palin Family and you effectively discredit one of the most exciting candidates on the Republican side in decades.

The media will also play heavily to Joe Biden's foreign policy background as opposed to that of Sarah Palin. That pig must not be allowed to fly. If Barack Obama is deemed by Democrats to assume the office of president with qualifications that pale in comparison to that of Gov. Palin's, that is the argument that must be made. If Obama is qualified to be president, Sarah Palin is even more qualified to be vice president.

The Obama campaign will try desperately to make the Palin/Biden comparison. The McCain campaign must forcefully change the subject every time they try and rub their noses in the Obama/Palin contrast. They must not be allowed their usual double standard. It is time, as the left is so fond of saying, to level the playing field.

Obama is Morally Repugnant
Obama is Morally Repugnant

I don't believe Obama because he changes his stated views to fit the political weather.
I don't trust Obama because he has no credability after retracting virtually everything said at the beginning of t5he campaign.
I don't like Obama's lies about who he and his wife are at heart.
I don't like Obama's racist attitudes, playing the race card at every opportunity and distain for other races.
I don't like Obama's cold and calculating demeanor.
I don't listen to Obama's rhetoric any more because he offers false hope and doesn't speak his own words.
I also believe that Obama is very dangerous to American Freedom and will follow in the far left Carter MOS after the election.

Lack of moral, identity and ethical confusion is the one thing that insures I will be voting for McCain-Palin. The choice is clear in my mind. Obama is Morally Repugnant

Obama Has More Experience
At failing to understand what is important to the American People. Failing to put forth any meaning ful legislation. Failing to have high moral standards. Failing to pick a running mate that is actually worthy.
Failing to state his true views so all can decide.
Failing to improve the lives of his constituents.
Failing to leave a racist demigod Church and pastor after 20 years of indoctrination in hate.
Failing to condemn the crimes by his old friend and mentor, William Ayers.
Yeah. Obama has a whole lot more 'Experience' at failure.

Posting query
I want to send a liberal friend a link to the Mayer article, but without the poster comments attached (some are so illiterate and smelly as to be counterproductive). Is there some way this can be done?

'Experience' is a losing issue
Experience is important but Republicans were wrong to make this the central issue of the campaign because it exposed them to charges of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is usually the domain of the Left for the simple reason that they are never honest about their true objections to conservative candidates. What they really hate is their conservatism, but they won’t say this because they know the reality is that most of America is more conservative than liberal. Consequently they bring up other issues such as dishonesty, cronyism, professional politicianism and yes, experience. The problem is that these are the traits that usually apply to THEIR candidates; hence they are perpetually laughable in their hypocrisy.

What conservatives and most Americans want is a candidate with a strong, proven record of sharing our values. While John McCain only partially qualifies, his record is far superior to that of Obama, who has a clear left-wing background and left-wing agenda that places him far from mainstream America. We can argue all day about who has more ‘experience,’ Palin or Obama, but there is no question that Palin has a strong record of conservative leadership, which makes her superior to Obama any day of the week.

The ‘new’ republicans need to stop trying to play by the democrat playbook and talk about the REAL reasons they don’t want Obama and Biden: whatever experience they have only reinforces their far left credentials and puts us on the path to socialism. Most Americans can relate to the danger this poses.

She's an exciting choice!
There's a lot I like about Sarah Palin and she has definitely gotten my enthusiasm up about this race. Good choice John. She is a breath of fresh air.

The dems lamely whimper that Palin would be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Hey, I'LL TAKE A COURAGEOUS, CAPABLE, LIFE GIVING, LIFE LOVING, MOOSE HUNTING, HOCKY MOM ANY DAY,STANDING BETWEEN NANCY PELOSI (as the third in line)AND THE PRESIDENCY any day.
And in a heartbeat I might add.

Go, Sarah, we're behind you! You're just fine with us.

The whiners are out because they know their giant hot air balloon is out of steam.

This country is tired of Obama and tired of the same old, and more of the same old divisiveness. That's all Obama brings to the table; party politics and organized strategy to pick the pockets of the American people for their own grandizement. It's pathetic.

Boy, I like the freshness in the air, don't you????

Palin has it all!
America, the playing field has been leveled! We now have the experienced and the inexperienced on both sides of the fence. Now pick your side!

I pick President Elect McCain and Vice President Sarah Palin ticket! Combined together, they will bring integrity, honor and commitment to the office of the Presidency.

I would much rather have an experienced President (John McCain) who will be in charge -- than an inexperienced President (THE - MILLIONAIRE - PROMPTER READING - FLIM FLAM OBAMAMAN - BETTER KNOWN AS - BARACK HUSSEIN SOETORO OBAMA) who relies on his 2nd in command (Pit Bull Biden) to run the country! What is wrong with that picture, America! You got it! Vote for the only ticket that has the experience to bring true change and reform in Washington - President Elect McCain and Vice President Palin! They have my vote in November and I, trust, they have yours also!

"Experience is important
but Republicans were wrong to make this the central issue of the campaign..."

The Republicans did not make experience the central issue in this campaign. The Liberal/Progressive/Democrats claimed she had NO experience and every one here pointed to the experience she DOES have as compared to the experience Obama DOES NOT have.

Had the other side kept the mouths shut, the world would not know half as much about her experience that exists. Thank you Liberals for opening that door. Keep up the good work.

Real Contrast
Look at the contrasts between the Vomit and Palin. Vomit went to several schools in the East, including the much ballyhooed Harvard. (One wonders where the money for that come from seeing as how none of his grandparents were wealthy and tuition alone at Harvard is over 50K a year.) Palin went to a small Western University that does not have the “big name recognition” of Harvard.

The Vomit got out of college and bummed around for a while teaching and “organizing” again with a little bit of writing as a sideline. Then he went into politics as an IL State legislator. He accomplished nothing there of any note. He then went into the Senate with essentially the same story. The only bill that I have seen him introduce is a ridiculous bill that attempts to cure world hunger. An idea that is so trite it is a cliché for political ignorance.
The there is Sarah Barracuda. When she graduated she went to work with her husband in a deep sea fishing venture. This is a dangerous occupation in Alaska folks. In fact, currently it is listed as the most dangerous occupation in the country. She ran for an was elected to the city council because she didn’t like what was going on. Still not satisfies she ran for and was elected mayor. She then cleaned up the town, increased sales tax to pay for an arena and reduced property tax by 40%. She ran for and was edged out for Lt. Gov. The AK power then made a mistake. They appointed her to an ethics board thinking they could keep her in line that way. Hahahaha, boy did that backfire.

That led to her resigning in a flurry of corruption allegations against her colleagues who then wound up in jail. That then led to her being elected Governor and she was well on the way to cleaning up the State.

He popularity in AK has ran from ridiculously high rates in the 90s to the lowest rates in the 80s. This is what really scares the liberals. The Vomit talks a big game, Palin DOES a big game. Too bad she is not at the top of the ticket.

The Experience Factor
Gov. Palin is exactly that..a governor. In being that, one has to be elected, manage a budget, execute that budget and run that Nat'nl Guard...among other things. Obama has no idea how this is done. His first "go" at governing will be as president if we'er not careful. The only real reason pundits say Gov. Palin can't be VP is because SHE is a woman. Peddling that "she'll be a heartbeat away..." crap is just another way to let Obama slide into office. If we are going by experience shouldn't Sen. McCain be running against Sen. Biden?????

Birdman II
I don’t know where you’ve been during the campaign but republicans certainly have made Obama’s lack of experience a central issue. In fact when I google “Obama’s lack of experience” I get over 37 million hits.

His democratic primary rivals also made an issue of his lack of experience but it made sense for them to do so because that was the main thing that differentiated them.

I’m not saying experience doesn’t matter but if we’re honest we care less about his experience and more about his ideology. Republicans would be much better served to talk about Obama’s record of left-wing politics than his lack of experience. Then the game of ‘who’s more experienced’ will not distract voters from what’s really at stake.

Fred says...

“one of them has a thorough knowedge of the constitution…”

They both know the constitution. The difference is that Palin actually believes in preserving it.

That Pesky Experience Thing
Oh, yes; that pesky experience thing. I have heard the Democrat knuckleheads begin to harp already that, because Sarah Palin is now McCain’s choice for Vice-President running mate, somehow the voices of those re-iterating the total lack of experience of B.H.O.’s executive, leadership, and payroll responsibility have thrown from the table the ‘experience card.’ No, not even a little bit, I say.
Let me begin with stating B.H.O.’s chief executive experience. Including the not-for-profit work alongside convicted terrorist Bill Ayers as co-heads of the Annenburg Challenge in Chicago he has next to zero knowledge or skill. Not-for-profit means – for those illiterate folks too lazy to consult a dictionary – No Payroll Responsibility. B.H.O. has never been a Boy Scout (in fact, he supports the A.C.L.U.’s litigation of them). B.H.O. has only used the nations’ taxpayer dollars to give to his Chicago-machine, gangster styled friends.
Sarah Palin, by comparison, has successfully run a home, a PTA, a city and then a state government. One must agree with Kevin McCullough – an essayist writing for Townhall.com – that this experience is more than Obama, Biden, and Hillary combined! Mrs. Palin had to deal with international issues (Canadian and Russian), she commanded the Alaska National Guard, stood up to corruption in her own political party, refused Federal money earmarked for building a bridge-to-nowhere, and returned money to the people of the state from oil company tax revenue! This is the kind of change I want and believe in.
See you at the polls!

The Experience v Ideology Debate
Republicans can talk until they are blue in the face about Obama's radical associations, his political philosophy, his socialist principles and the damage an Obama administration will do this country. And we should, it should be a large and integral part of the debate.

But you are fooling yourself if you think that either Obama or the MSM are going to address any of it. All they want to do is destroy Sarah Palin and make John McCain a laughing stock for her selection. That is the debate the left intends to smother us with and we have to fight back with every ounce of determination and facts.

Make no mistake, the experience thing is front and center and we damned sure better be ready to aggressively address it.

Fred
"Exactly - one of them has a thorough knowedge of the constitution, has millions upon millions of votes (not hundreds) to his name - and that's BEFORE he ran for President -"

Just how does getting votes qualify anybody for President? Do votes confer some special knowledge to a candidate that he or she didn't have before? Do votes give a candidate any experience in anything other than the experience of getting votes? By your own reasoning, you would have to admit that Bush was more qualified than Kerry. In that, at least, I agree with you.

Speaking of the experience
that is needed to become President.

A President does two things. He appoints, then he points.

Do you remember how good Henry Ford was at putting tires on a car?

Do you remember FDR riding in a tank, going to attack the Germans?

Do you remember Truman building the balcony on the White House?

Do you remember JFK landing on the beach at Cuba?

Do you remember Clinton paying attention to the lady under the desk? Well maybe that one doesn’t count.

The President is the point man. He sees which direction to crowd is moving, then gets in front of them.

He appoints people to run the Government, and then when the Press arrives, he must remember and point to the appointee who solved a particular problem.

There are 3,500,000 Federal Government employees, so in his 35,000 hours of being in office, he would have to shake hands with 100 each hour, 24/7, just to meet them all. So how could he do all that work by himself.

Yes, that word man includes the Sweetie from Alaska.

Lack of Presidential Ambition an Asset
One of the thigns I like about Palin is that she hasn't been running for president her whole life. I think she sees it more as an unexpected call to duty than her God-given right.

Obama sees the presidency as his, and only perfidy on the part of the Republicans can prevent him from fulfilling his destiny.

Hockey Mom...

I just heard this and want to share....

Prior to the selection, a McCain campaign aide warned
Governor Palin that the democrats and the left would
certainly attack her, and try to destroy her reputation...

She answered that she thinks she can handle that...

He warned again that the attacks would be pervasive and
perhaps personal and offensive- is she prepared for that?

She is said to have replied....

“Do you know the difference between
a Hockey Mom and a Pit Bull?”

“No”...He said.

“Lipstick”...She answered.

I, for one, can’t wait for the V.P. debate.

Ability plus Beauty

When I judge a person's ability to do a job, I try to make sure I use the same criteria and method for both men and women.

So let’s assume that two people, a man and a woman, are found to be a “10” in their ability to do the job.

Since I am convinced that a Beautiful Lady can do anything better than any man, I then apply one last test.

I judge the beauty of the lady, then add that as the exponential. That means if ObamBam and the Barracuda are both found to be a “10” in their abilities, I add the exponential of “10” to the score of the Barracuda, and OBamBam is out of luck, completely.

I used that method to judge the ability of my Sweetie for 55 years and 13 days, with one addition, that doesn’t apply to a candidate.

There's nothing more beautiful
than a beautiful lady.
And the less the clothes,
the more the beauty.”

Fred
If you are going to cite Obama's understanding of the Constitution, it would be nice to know how well he did in his studies at law school. Unfortunately, he refuses to make his Harvard transcript public, calling into question his "expertise" in law.

Smart
I think McCain made a smart move. Yes there is scandal but I would rather know about it now, than to have someone pretend to be perfect like so many do then find out later. This country only has a small picture of who Palin is, at the moment. I have a feeling that when we find out what she is really made of we will not be disapointed.

Interesting:
The libs are on the defensive about Obama's experience vs Palin's and Barack doesn't match up very well. McCain's experience is so far above BO's that a comparative debate of their qualifications is unnecessary. McCain's choice of Palin is turning out to be a brilliant move that is increasingly exposing the vacuous nature of the Democrat ticket.

Obama
Two things. I saw Obama on Larry King last night. First thing I remember was that he was lambasting McCain for helping out the Gulf relief efforts, saying that it was wrong to get in the way and for trying to get a photo-op. I seem to recall Obama flying his campaign jet to Quincy, Illinois in June, and filling a few sandbags http://www.khqa.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=147070. He stuck around long enough to take a picture before leaving.

Also, he tried to clwon on Palin for being a mayor of a city of 9,000. He tried to compare that against his 2 years of running a multi-million dollar Presidential campaign. Yes, like he really runs the campaign. What an A-hole.

ab

Looks like McCain stirred things up...
I'm no fan of several past McCain efforts (e.g., McCain-Kennedy immigration bill), but I'll give him credit for trying to address pressing issues. McCain's selection of Gov Palin changed my mind about voting for a third party candidate.

EmeraldCoaster
I commend your choice! This is exactly why McCain chose Palin. Millions of others will follow suit!!!

experience
"That fact alone should have dissuaded the democrats from raising experience as an issue"

Keep in mind, the Democrats didn't raise the experience issue, McCain did. So it brings McCain's judgment into question. He complains that Obama has little experience, then he appoints a neophyte of his own to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. Being a maverick is one thing, but the Vice Presidential pick is a serious matter.

dreamer
"...the Vice Presidential pick is a serious matter."

True; almost as serious as the presidential pick.

Are you experienced?
I believe Gov Palin could sing this Jimi Hendrix tune to Senator Obama. I also believe that Senator McCain couldn't have done a better job in choosing a running mate. Lastly, I'd ask the media in general & the cable news networks in particular, to leave the Gov's 17 year old daughter alone. It shows EXTREAMlY poor taste, & makes those of us who are even marginally intelligent mistrust these media outlets. Go GOP!!!

Mr. Mayer, Well Said!
Not much more can be added. McCain/Palin bring much needed change to DC.

Obama/Biden, on the other hand, bring more of the same good-old-boy, "scatch my back and I scratch your's". No Thank you.

The 'Cuda
I wasn't excited about voting for McCain, just against Obama. I am excited to vote for "Sarah Barracuda" even with McCain in the top spot. Dang, I'm looking forward to her debating Biden. That is going to be a bloodbath for him.

Fred - Lost In The Left
Fred offers as to Palin vs Obama, "one of them has a thorough knowedge of the constitution, has millions upon millions of votes (not hundreds) to his name - and that's BEFORE he ran for President"

For the first part as to the Constitution, fine, let him run for Supreme Court.

As to the second, what are you talking about? He has only run for two legislative offices that only involve voters from Illinois. In the Presidential vote, winning an entire state only gets you so much electoral votes. You know that, right?

and then "they" question why
good people hesitate to run for office - Senator McCain and Governor Palin have my vote! No one is perfect - and these candidates are the best for our country! Let those of you who would like to undergo the scrutiny this family has be the first to toss that stone! Leave this family alone!!! Imagine that the major networks and the New York Times feel free to address this young 17-year-old ALL THE WHILE giving a former PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE a pass on his KNOWN marital infidelities! Oh yes, your journalistic credentials are sparkling all you big hoo-hass - a high school newsletter could do a more ethical journalistic job!!!!

Barney - CA
Our household, too, is PROUD to be casting our votes FOR McCain/Palin, not against Obama. We believe the Senator made a wise choice! And the "check is in the mail" - we weren't going to, but this has changed our minds!

Obama compares...
I suppose Obama conveniently forgot that Palin WAS a small town mayor...and now the Governor of Alaska. The occasion was Obama speaking about the size of Palin's mayoral responsibilities, as opposed to the present campaign he's supposed to be directing. Good try,BHO, but not even material.
It's pretty hard for Obama to make any sensible argument that he's "managing" a sizeable campaign, but he won't go near the fact that Palin is first executive of a state with approx. 42 billion $$ GDP. He's never had any such responsibility in his life.
BHO shouldn't have even gone to such a subject, the whole comparison was ridiculous. What is it about this woman that brought the ugliest comments out of the Democrats and even uglier, wildly speculative, allegations from the dinosaur news media? We have a nation which generates all types of important news the public should know, but the louses of the press have focused upon one mother as if no one needs to know what's happened in Iraq today, the Black Sea today, what the Dutch version of the CIA's been doing about Iran, what new problems have arisen with N.Korea. No, instead, the deteriorating NY Times ran pages full of gossipy crap on Palin. No wonder an entire generation has no idea which end is up.

Who's Running for PRESIDENT?

Dear Mr. Mayer:

By attempting to shift and keep the focus on Sarah Palin with a rash of columns on Gov. Palin and her family, it's quite obvious Town Hall columnists -- and the McCain camp -- want to keep attention away from Republican Presidential nominee John McCain's longtime vulnerability - his uncontrollable, incendiary temper.

A temper which Amanda Carpenter wrote about in her April 1, 2008 column, 'MCCAIN ADMITS TEMPER PROBLEM." In her 4/1/08 article, Carpenter wrote:

"Republican Sen. Thad Cochran (Miss.)., a Romney supporter, told the Boston Globe, 'THE THOUGHT OF A 'HOT HEADED' PRESIDENT McCAIN SENDS A COLD CHILL DOWN MY SPINE."

Also: "Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R.-Pa.), another Romney supporter, also made recorded robo-calls on behalf of the Romney campaign in which he said, “As a conservative I don’t agree with McCain on many issues and I DON'T THINK HE (McCAIN) HAS THE TEMPERAMENT AND LEADERSHIP ABILITY TO MOVE THE COUNTRY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION."

Last January, Town Hall columnist Michelle Malkin referred to McCain as 'SHORT-FUSED" and a 'HOTHEAD."

Town Hall columnist Mona Charen wrote: "There is a strutting self-righteousness about McCain that goes hand in hand with a NITROGLYCERIN TEMPER."

Why would anyone want to give the opportuniity to a "hothead" with a "short-fuse" and uncontrollable "nitroglycerin temper" to have his hand on the nuclear button?. The ultimate button.

Experience? Open-book exam.
Wasn't it Obama's opponents who brought experience up? Hillary said that all he brings is a speech from 2002. Who was it that brought up on the job training?

My, such short (or selective) memories!

And who called him the Magic Negro?

And who called him "that black boy"?

Now the vehicle of change selects a VP who was in the Senate longer than McCain! Some change. Oh yeah - he's a outsider because he rides the tain home every night.

The stupid Democrats would rather win an election than see the country prosper under honest leadership. The smart and patriotic Democrats are voting Republican.

difference between the messiah
and the mother:

the mother fires the guy who wouldn't fire her a-hole brother-in-law!

the messiah would have thrown the whole bloody lot of them under the bus! squish!

did i say there was a difference? my bad!

Experience counts less than Ability...
It maybe true that Palin lacks the experience as everyones tirade on her but still she has the ability to lead and serve as VP of this country. I strongly believe on her passion and hardwork, much more on her idealism that may bring back the most prestigious glory of this beloved country. She is youthful and full of dreams specially for the benefit of her countrymen. Let's give her a chance to prove herself. Palin and Obama should not be compared with one another as both of them are running for a different position though, so where's the comparison. It's like looking for the difference between a father and a mother who in their sense have a different responsibility in building their family. What I want to reiterate is for everybody to choose the best and most appropriate leaders of this country whom we believe has the ability not just the experience in leading. After all, where will they get their experience if we will not give them a chance.

what a beautiful article
I love it when leftists get smashed up with facts like that....

I posted your article and wrote my own take on Palin here: http://www.metalisrael.com/?p=668

Thanks for this article.

Outstanding column, Mr. Mayer!

Outstanding column, Mr. Mayer! The best comparative analysis on the Palin vs. Obama experience I've seen yet.

It reminds me of what is said about Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did in their intricate and romantic dancing...and Ginger Rogers did it backwards!

Sarah Palin has far more executive experience than does Barack Obama and also has been far more effective...and she did that giving birth to and raising 5 children! Amazing!

The Obamessiah's agenda
In January of 2009, The Obamessiah took office as the President of the United States. HIS first action in office was to destroy all nuclear weapons; the second to eliminate all fossil fuel sources. Behold, nuclear weapons and fossil fuels no longer existed on Earth.
Behold, the planet was covered with dams, solar-panel fields, and windmill forests.

After ten years, there was only peace and harmony on the planet, because the noises and vibrations from the windmills drove all the people living near them to commit suicide; and the solar panels prevented the growing and transporting of food crops. Everybody starved to death except for The Obamessiah and 99 liberal politicians living in the bunker below Mount Rushmore, eating the stored rations.

One day, the Mount Palomar Observatory warned that “The Asteroid” was coming. “The Asteroid”, an outer space rock the size of The Alps, was on a collision course with Earth, as a 2008 NOVA documentary warned.

One liberal got out the file on “The Asteroid” to find out what to do. The instructions were to launch six, 20-megaton nuclear missiles and land them on “The Asteroid”, and then detonate them one-by-one, three seconds apart. The phased explosions should divert “The Asteroid” from hitting Earth.

Then one of the liberals said, “But we can’t do this! The Obamessiah beholded the missiles and fuel out of existence! We have neither the missiles to launch nor the fuel to launch them. But, The Obamessiah can behold “The Asteroid” not to hit the earth.”

After telling The Obamessiah about “The Asteroid”, the liberals realized that HE was actually the Twelfth Imam, THE ONE that, back in 2007, Muslim terrorists said would destroy the world in two years. Two years after 2007, was when The Obamessiah “beholded” the Missiles and fuel out of existence.

svpllava, don't forget:
Obama was born in Kenya, then immediately flown to Hawaii.

Mountain Rose: Liberal senators are now into taxing in the TRILLIONS.

3rd citizen: I'd really rather have Sarah Palin as President than Hussein or Biden. She has much more of the kind of experience we need. For one thing, she is not a lawyer, so she doesn't have many years of schooling in how to be a crook!!!

Brickhouse: We'd invite Sarah Palin into our foxhole because she can shoot better than we can.

A TWO-PART QUESTION for all who want to participate: What will be the starting date of the Second American Revolution
a: If Obama-Biden is elected?
b: If McCain-Palin is elected?

A while back, I thought of a long list of benefits for the people of Alaska, should they secede from the Union. Many of them came from not being accountable to DC politicians.

Tidbits
Obama ran his campaign while Palin runs a state. Running a campaign doesn't compare; presumably everyone working on the campaign wants you to succeed.

Both Obama and Palin have had numerous jobs. He a "community organizer," state senator, and US Senator. By his own admission he became a lawyer because people have more regard for what you say if you are a lawyer(debatable)not for love of the law. Early in his state senate carreer he tried and failed to run for congress, then after being elected to the Senate he immediately ran for President. In no case did his actual accomplishments live up to his claims. He never spent enough time or effort to be noteworthy in any of these capacities. What few friends and role models he has had in his life he has had to disavow.

Palin has been a commercial fisherwoman, small business owner, mother of five, PTA activist, city councilwoman, mayor, Chairman of the Alaska State Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and Governor. In each capacity she has proven accomplishments. She has, by all accounts moved from position to position based upon what she saw as her duty and the opportunity to put to use the knowledge gained in the previous position rather than merely trying to move on to something better or raising her status.

Obama claimed to have been a "professor" of constitutional law. He was a lecturer, one step above a graduate assistant. Lecturing on the Constitution is NOT the same as knowing it or loving it. Many professors are now of the mind that judges help to "evolve" the living document that they say is the constitution completely ignoring the fact that far more brilliant men than themselves wrote Article 5 explicitly for that purpose, allowing the people and their ELECTED representatives that prerogative. Obama and those of his ilk are among these misguided souls.

Mrs VP Soon to be President
ColinCody

You funny to make excuses for anything critical of Mrs. Perfect Palin. She's supposed to be so right wing but now her daughter is pregnant because she doesn't beleive in sex education. I had sex education and I didn't have kids until after I was married. You and I both know that the odds of teenage couples that marry staying together is pretty slim odds. I don't fault the child because things can happen, but what I do fault is people like you and others who sweep it under the rug. If this was Chelsea Clinton, you would want to burn her at the stake and blame Hillary and Slick Willie for her pregnancy. If she wants change so much why hasn't she found a way to put more of her state to work instead of sucking up the highest percentage of welfare in the country. I look forwad to her being in charge, because having a governor in charge now really has us in good shape, can't wait for 4 more years of what we have now oh boy, good times awaits!

To K. in TX: Abstinence=100% effective
Palin's daughter is pregnant because she (Palin) didn't believe in sex education"...

This statement is a PRESUMPTION, at best, on YOUR PART. MAYBE Palin's daugther got pregnant because SHE WANTED to become pregnant. You say you were taught sex education in school and you didn't have kids until you were married...But what about all the “OTHER” young adults who became pregnant who were also taught sex education in school? You fail to mention them. Abstinence=no sex. You must admit, it has a proven effective rate. Use a condom/birth control = very possible to get pregnant. (1) Tell a young adult to "strive" for abstinence until they are ready to take on the responsibility of a child because that is the FULL PROOF way NOT to get pregnant. (2) Tell a young adult to use a condom and if that condom doesn't work, because the effective rate is proven often ineffective, is not the best way to PREVENT an unplanned pregnancy. Young adults often choose this method because they don't think it will happen to them and they know they can get an abortion if the METHOD fails. Either way...the young adult decides. Blaming Palin for Bristol’s pregnancy on the basis that Palin believes abstinence is the best method of birth control is...well, disingenuous. I think you sound like someone who really cares about young adults. However, it is a fact if someone is TRULY seeking the BEST METHOD for birth control, ABSTINENCE IS THE ANSWER: recommending abstinence does NOT entail "leaving out the facts of life." In all likelihood, Palin's daughter acted with full knowledge of the consequences. SHE made a CHOICE for HERSELF. SHE chose to have sex (with/without condom) knowing full well the consequences, and is taking responsibility for her actions. Good for her. She hasn't hurt anyone. She has made life more challenging for herself at this point in her life, but if she's anything like her mother...SHE'S PROBABLY UP FOR THE CHALLENGE.

Can't some folks stay on subject?
I see the word "pregnant" in some posts. Is there some reason you thumb sucking idiots can't leave Sarah Palin's daughter out of this and stay with the issue: experience?

Rudy Giuliani got it right when he stated that Obama is the least qualified presidential candidate in the last 100 years. Personally, I'd make that the last 220 years. Slow Joe Biden has very substantial experience, if you consider exercising one's jaw muscles to constitute "experience."

This election is a total nobrainer: McCain-Palin is the only sane choice. Sarah Palin will make a great VP, and someday she will make a great U.S. President.

As for Obama, he needs to return to something that isn't above his pay grade, to wit, voting "present" when he's afraid to make a stand.

3rdCitizen "Reality Check"
Yet she actually still more experienced than Obama.

The reality check you should be making is what Obama's true beliefs are.

He, like Hilary and Pelosi and the rest of the far left of the Democratic Party are factually communists. They are Marxists and in the Jack Kennedy days of the party would not have been allowed to be members.

I spent some time today looking through the actual bills that Senator Obama has sponsored since he has become a Senator. At this point exactly zero have gone past committee. He hasn't done one tangible thing in Senate and has an attendance and voting record that is far lower than almost any other senator.

He has voted as often with President Bush than he has against him.

It may or may not be that Governor Palin doesn't have the experience to be President today, but that does not mean that Senator Obama does.

The difference is that she isn't running for President, Obama is and your argument about McCain being old is absurd, his mom is 96! Actuarially he is more likely to live to be 80 than Obama is.

Cheers,

Bloefeld

Dude, chill.
Living next to Russia is not foreign policy experience. I think you are confusing "the liberal media," who is actually vetting Palin, with Obama. I don't question her experience. I could care less that she can see Russia from where she lives. Sorry, talking with Canada is not foreign policy experience. What I'm concerned about is she has mad no policy statements on what she would bring to the table as a candidate. None, nada, nothing.

Obama has laid his plan out for all to see and hear. I'm not going to vote for someone because she has a funny accent and can read a teleprompter.

Republicans created the mess we're in, remember? Y'all voted for Bush, remember? You get what you pay for. If you're unhappy now wait until your party fleeces more money out of your pockets if McCain wins.

Reagan - deficit
Bush - deficit
Clinton - surplus
Bush - deficit (with no end in sight because he attacked the wrong country)

I'm glad you think having your children and grandchildren pay for Republicans gigantic government machine they created is a good idea. I'm glad you think that owing billions and billions of dollars to our philosophical enemies like China and Saudi Arabia are good ideas. That shows how truly unpatriotic Republicans are that they could give our country away like that.

It's time to right the ship that you have teetering on the verge of collapse (like everything else Bush tried to run. Man, governors are just so good at their job).
