Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Don Imus, recently unemployed pioneer of the high-dollar “shock-jock” industry, is a truly gifted man. He has the rare but unenviable ability to really tick people off at both ends of the political spectrum and everywhere in between. To the chagrin of the leftist anti-war “you baby killer” crowd, he’s been a staunch defender of our wounded troops at Walter Reed. Yet he’s made a habit of regularly bashing social conservatives and President Bush, having even gone so far as to suggest that government mismanagement of Hurricane Katrina occurred because Bush is a closet racist.

Ironic isn’t it?

Everyone on the face of the earth knows by now that Imus was recently fired by MSNBC and CBS for calling members of the Rutgers women’s basketball team “nappy-headed hos” in a botched joke that makes Massachusetts amateur comedian and U.S. Senator John Kerry’s stand-up play like Johnny Carson.

Imus’ comments were racist, sexist, reprehensible and extremely unfair to those extraordinary young women who are mostly just kids. Their fathers and brothers are no doubt itching to take the “I-Man” out behind the woodshed for a not-so-tender lesson in “how to properly respect the fairer sex.”

But instead, Imus sheepishly allowed himself to be dragged behind the woodshed for a verbal thrashing by self-proclaimed “civil rights champion” Al Sharpton. Imus went on Sharpton’s radio program shortly after the story erupted in an apparent attempt to salvage his career. Sharpton, who many argue is himself a fire-breathing anti-white, anti-Semitic racist, sang lead tenor in the colossal chorus demanding Imus’ ouster. But based on Sharpton’s own racial gaffe quotient and by his own standard, shouldn’t he be standing in the unemployment line right next to Imus? You have to ask, where in the deepest pits of purgatory does Sharpton get off asserting any moral authority on this issue whatsoever?

Here’s just one of the many examples which highlight Sharpton’s harmonious and penetrating racial wisdom: While giving a speech at New Jersey’s Kean College in 1994, Sharpton walked headlong into his own Imus-ism when he judiciously and eloquently opined, “White folks was in caves while we was building empires ... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”

Nice, huh?

But there was no uproar … No outrage … No clamor for Sharpton’s head on a silver platter. And apart from a very few low-key media reports, we heard nothing but chirping crickets.

Examples of this liberal double standard are plentiful, but hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty are character traits so deeply embedded in leftist DNA that we no longer even take notice. And of course the mainstream media, which is charged with pointing out such hypocrisy, happens to be cut from the same ideological cloth, so don’t expect any help from them.

As for Imus’ comments, the fundamental question is this: Are we really that surprised that Don Imus would belt out such verbal rot in a society that celebrates and emulates the racist and misogynistic hip-hop, “gangsta-rap” culture? Central to the hip-hop/rap lexicon is an apparent need to systematically demean women by branding them “b*tches” and “hos,” sometimes even suggesting that it’s somehow macho to slap them around a bit. Additionally, it’s common for young black men in the culture to refer to themselves and one another as “pimps” and the “n-word.”

Although none of this provides justification for Imus’ disgusting comments, the mixed message it sends might at least explain to a certain degree why he mistakenly felt it was appropriate to say what he said.

As for Sharpton, in the interest of full disclosure we should point out that “Reverend Al,” who rarely deserves credit for much of anything, has at least gingerly criticized the seedier side of the hip-hop/rap culture in the past.

But why hasn’t he called for the firing of rappers Jay-Z, Ludacris and Djay for essentially parroting the “I-Man’s” racist and sexist comments? Why hasn’t Sharpton and his merry band of lefties demanded that the white rap industry executives who get filthy rich off this swill also get the axe? Sharpton went after Imus like a Pit Bull on a Pekingese, stopping just short of demanding he be hung upside down and peeled alive. So what gives? Why the double standard?

Simple answer. Now that Imus has been cut, the left smells blood in the water and the feeding frenzy’s afoot. The Imus affair is just the opening salvo. It’s already being parlayed into a larger scheme to muzzle Christian conservative policy organizations, the Fox News Channel, conservative talk radio and anyone else who would dare to publicly espouse a conservative viewpoint.

In the wake of the Imus debacle, David Brock, president of the highly influential and extremely liberal Media Matters “watchdog” group, didn’t even try to conceal the left’s strategy. He nonchalantly spread the First Amendment out on his kitchen floor so puppy could potty, threatening, “More and more Americans are coming to understand the damage done by major news organizations providing a platform for bigoted commentary and other conservative misinformation. … This decision sends a clear message to other networks, journalists and media personalities that bigotry and hate speech have no place on America's airwaves.”

Whoa… feel that chill?

Try this one on for size. While writing in The New York Times, homosexual actor and “gay” activist Harvey Fierstein was encouraged by the Don Imus gag order saying that it signaled the “eventual eradication” of all “expressions of intolerance.” So if you happen to believe that homosexual conduct is both immoral and high-risk behavior, as the Bible and medical science establishes, then consider yourself targeted for “eradication.”

But who defines the terms, and what criterion is applied? Who decides who enjoys freedom of speech and who suffers “eradication?” And what exactly is, “bigoted commentary,” “expressions of intolerance,” “hate speech,” and “conservative misinformation,” you might ask?

Well, it’s anything those jackbooted thought police on the left say it is, don’t ya know. And those of us found in violation of this dogmatic PC speech code – as I am right now – run the risk of public blacklisting and indefinite unemployment. After we’re sentenced by this McCarthyist tribunal, we can evidently look forward to being shackled, dragged off to a “progressive” re-education “rehab” camp and furiously flogged with a rolled up copy of The New York Times until we’re properly whipped into ideological submission.

But, I don’t know. … I think I’ll go ahead and risk it just the same.

Just imagine
Here's a fun exercise of the double standard. Example, quoting from the article of something Al Sharpton publically said and got away with:

“White folks was in caves while we was building empires ... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”

Now, for fun, let's change the words:

“Black folks was in caves while we was building empires ... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before them Black African homos ever got around to it.”

Now, imagine what would happen to a caucasion saying that one?

Let's say if Anne Coulter's infamous speech recently regarding Edwards, F*ggot, and Grey's Anatomy...and it had another punch line in it and it happened to be racial....

I bet you Anne would not apologize and she would do exactly as you had described, standing tall and sighting the injustices. The thing is Anne would only do it to stir up polictical correct idiocies, whereas Imus is just an idiot.

She didn't apologize to the Leftists for Edwards, and bravo to that.

SJR aka Kilroy, Oh was that ever
funny! I hope other regular posters get a chance to see it too. Thanks for the laugh, It came on a good day.

Harry Jackson just had a TH column about "hate speech" and allowing (well, not allowing really) ministers to preach the Bible. A Swedish minister was actually jailed because he chose to read, from the Bible, the verses that are against homosexuality. Naturally Sweden has severe hate speech laws, again, courtesy of the leftist thought police.

Shells, Ann did the right thing. Too bad MORE people do not do what she did, including Newt Gingrich falling all over himself apologizing for a remark he made about speaking English in America. I wish he had told the critics to get off at the nearest bus stop and go find someone else to bother with their incessant complaining.

My son tells me that the comedian, Carlos Mencia just did a funny take on the whole PC speech issue, but I do not know where to find a clip where posters can link it yet. I will try.

Remind the Left
exactly what it's censorship and Newspeak ideas lead to: propaganda parroting and historical revisionism. Oh, we already have that? We have Dems. moaning and groaning after elections that Republicans prevented voting and prob. hacked into electronic voting machines and changed voting tallies. Because the Dems. won a majority in 2006, we were spared some of the election idiocies, but there's a Dem. rep. in FL, altho' she lost and her opponent has been certified and sworn into office--who is still claiming she didn't lose and will pursue every tactic to win what she's already lost. Watch out for the 2008 elections, esp. if Ms. Hill is close to winnng the brass ring. We'll be in the courts for months. The Left never suffers its consequences because the great "news" machines are all controlled and manipulated by Left talking pts. and spin. Hopefully, FOX, the net, and the younger academics who are much more conservative than their parents' generation can keep cons. thought above ground. But one way to let the Dems. know there are consequences to their actions is sending a head scarf to Ms. Pelosi who was upset she wasn't sartorily prepared to abase herself before Syria's terrorist tyrant and send Mr. Reid a white flag, so he can see what surrender really looks like:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
> 235 Canon HOB
> Washington, DC
> 20515
>
Harry Reid
528 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510

And, if you remember, Ann Coulter didn't apologize and her "flap" died a quick death. The truth of Al Sharpton is he is a totally media construct. He isn't a reverend, has no church, has no visible source of income (which is why he can't pay the libel judgment against him for the Tawany Brawley fabrication), and would be totally unknown except the usual suspects rush to his doorstep for his pronouncemnt on what is polliically correct in racial speech. On the brighter side, as we write, the NYTimes is facing a stockgolders revolt partly led by Morgan Stanley. If by some wild chance the rebels are successful, perhaps a major arm of the monolithic Left will be dismembered. Additionally, the LA Times good news is its laying off another 150 people. Lib. news is not really all that popular. Air America went bankrupt twice within a year. That's why Rosie O'Donnell and the other loonies want to get O'Reilly and Rush and Hannity and prob. townhall.com, people are really not flocking to leftist philiosophy and causes. I can only hope.

Not Ashamed
To check out Carlos, try U-Tube. I have no link, but because of this timely subject, they should have it.

The thing is, I've watched Carlos and he makes me laugh a lot. He insults everyone, to their face, everyone. No one is untouchable.

But, and I'm just wondering, if Carlos Mencia wasn't doing the monlogue and it happened to be Mr. Caucasion John Public, what would happen to him? Would he be banned?

Anne is a hero for standing up against the masses. She is unfraid. I just wish more conservatives did the same. The fact is, the libs will never appreciate, befriend, or ingest any conservative mea culpas. We just might as well stand our ground and tell them to pee off.

N-word?
Matt, though I am not proud of it I have been to prison for agg batt. Why could you not bring yourself to say ni##er? I would say it but the censors would ban me. Nice double standard huh? I have been called "cracker", White bread" and numerous other slurs. But I can say those words, huh? I always responded with ni##er. I got into a few scuffles. Won most. Quite frankly, I wont stand for it. So please explain to me why we White guys must endure the problems of the past today? Yes, I know I"ll be called racist, but are not the blacks racist also for feeling they can insult me at any time? And do so by force of numbers. Prison is full of ni##ers. And yes, I meant to offend you.

Dave Stone
An A+ for your posting. If only someone would have the courage to do it. As you said, they grovel and slobber all over these two jokers, then slither off into obscurity. So why not do it like a real man. I doubt they would then slither off into obscurity - they would become a hero.

DeLay Uses "T-Word," Treason
On my blog (click on name above) I just posted major breaking news story from Tribune-Review in Pittsburgh quoting Tom DeLay as saying Reid and Pelosi are "close" to "treason." Let me know what you think of it.

Very interesting
Imus used to be one of the major targets for the Decency in broadcasting movement, which has persuaded the current administration to levy incredibly large fines for anyone saying certain words, on the air which offend some people. But now the right is extremely bent out of shape by his speech being limted? I always found the guy rude and obnoxious myself. The gangsta rappers are even more rude and obnoxious, that's why i don't listen to rap ,or Imus. He got canned because the network decided he was going to lose them money, and the rappers don't get shut down cause they make money for their corporate owners . This is really a matter of time slots If Imus had been on after 10 pm ,there would be no issue.

IO Card
Kilroy,
So funny, but where can I get my card? Do you have Shamton's SHAMCO address? Is it in the gutter or the sewer? Is the cost of my card tax-exampt, is it a donation to SHAMCO? Along with our "check" for our IO Card, we could include pocket-sized textbook on English grammar. I don't think they had English classes at the seminary he attended.

Imus Major Problems
First, he has terrible hair. Second, he wore his cowboy hat indoors.

Now that he's gone, the most pressing problem in the world is for some good Fred Thompson jokes. I'm ready for the challenge. I mean why should Dick Cheney and GWB get all the good zingers?

Seriously, what America is calling for in its next President is a bald, grumpy guy who talks funny.

I intend to fill a much-needed vacuum (did I put that right) by coming up with a steady stream of jokes about Fred Thompson and Barack Obama, two of the greatest challenges ever presented to comedians. Both guys are about as funny as a blast of Raid in the eyeball . . .

Anyway, my daily joke section (click on name above) is growing in popularity. Yesterday, it had somewhere between 165 and 165,000 visitors, I forget exactly which. If you come to visit, I promise I'll get you Steve Capus' job AND send you a year's supply of Milky Ways. Here are a few samples from the SIX jokes for tomorrow, which are not as good as today's:

Senator Barack Hussein Obama has reportedly sought to defuse the controversy over his middle name by changing it to "Hillary." He noted he’s always been a fan of the famous British mountain-climber.

New polling data is giving Senator Thompson concern over whether the country is really ready for a President named "Fred." He explained that his mother was a big fan of "The Flintstones."

Predictions...
I'm going to make a prediction before reading this column.

1. The column will attack Al Sharpton.
2. The column will contain something arrogant along the lines of, "don't ya?"
3. The column will somehow, no matter how off-topic, mention homosexuality.

I'll go ahead and thrown in a prediction for Barber's next column: Liberals and homosexuality led to the Virginia Tech killings. (We'll have to wait on this one. Barber's columns are always two to three weeks behind. It takes that long to factor homosexuality into whatever he writes.)

I'll be back to gloat over how I did with my predictions.

Oh my! Ding! Ding! Ding!
Now how did I know this?

1. When Sharpton is involved in anything, righty columnists attack him. Nothing wrong there. An easy prediction.
2. One of the common threads through all of Barber's formulaic columns: Arrogance and smugness. It isn't enough for him to argue his points. For whatever reason, he has to be arrogant about it. Now, he might think that's entertaining. Maybe it is, for some, but I think most people tire of this. I've given up on many liberal columnists for the same reason. I think conservatives, moderates and liberals all agree: just argue your point.
3. Mr. Barber is employed by a "pro-family" organization.

Does anyone doubt the predictions for the next column?
