Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Lefty word-watchdogs and their allies in the mainstream media have hurt feelings … again. As per usual, liberals are frothing at the mouth in a fit of very selective, self-righteous indignation over provocative comments made by Ann Coulter and are hunting the conservative firebrand with pitchforks, torches and rope in hand.

While addressing an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last Friday, Coulter joked in her trademark fashion that, “I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I – so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

And the proverbial fan was thusly and most directly hit.

Admittedly, Coulter employed unusually abrasive and bombastic language – even for her – to make a point; but ironically, the reaction she’s getting from the left (and from some on the right) would seem to quite precisely demonstrate the apparent thrust of her prickly comments. Perhaps that was part of her intention.

Never mind that those in the “gay community” throw the word “faggot” around as a term of endearment for one another as frequently as Hillary Clinton changes her accent and in much the same manner as black “gangsta-rappers” break out the “N-word.” And never mind that the left constantly redefines that which is or is not a “permissible” moniker for those engaged in the homosexual lifestyle (one day “queer” is bad, and the next day “queer” is good. In fact, the latest from the PC police is that it’s now “hateful” to call a homosexual a “homosexual” – go-figure. They prefer that innocuous, cutsie and happy-go-fluffy little term “gay” if you please.)

It’s the left defining the terms, mind you. And it’s the left that further identifies who has permission to use those terms. Therefore, it’s only reasonable for them to apply that famous “progressive” double standard to Coulter. After all, she is a “hateful” conservative.

Now, don’t misunderstand; Coulter’s comments lacked civility to be sure and were entirely inappropriate. Some compare her use of the word “faggot” to use of the “N-word.”

However, it would seem that African-Americans, who have truly experienced grave and systematic injustice over the years while struggling to obtain certain civil rights to which they were denied, might rightfully be offended by such a spurious comparison.

Most African-Americans are a little more than annoyed by the fact that the militant homosexual lobby has so artfully hijacked the rhetoric of genuine civil rights. That rhetoric has been cynically misapplied to the homosexual agenda, which includes mandated moral relativism, social androgyny and not just full acceptance, but celebration of a pleasure-based, sexually deviant lifestyle.

Equating the black community’s struggle for civil rights to homosexual activists’ struggle for special rights is a disingenuous parallel. By comparison, homosexuality is rooted in disordered, unhealthy and changeable behaviors that have – prior to the onset of social post-modernism – been considered both immoral and repulsive. Being black is rooted in, well, being black.

Rather than equating the word “faggot” to the “N-word,” perhaps a more accurate correlation lies between the word “faggot” and other behaviorally derived derogatory terms such as “slut” or “whore.” In referencing an adulterer as a “slut” or a “whore” for that person’s lifestyle choices, one voices disagreement with certain behaviors (infidelity or promiscuity) historically frowned upon by society.

But in either case, use of such disparaging words is coarse, unnecessary and counterproductive. One can express legitimate disagreement with lifestyle choices, which run counter to traditional norms and mores of society, without reverting to the use of such nasty language.

As for Coulter’s specific comments, she apparently intended a dual connotation. She seemed to either suggest that Edwards is in fact a homosexual (not likely) or that he is somewhat effeminate and/or “wimpy” in terms of his positions on public policy issues – that he politically embodies certain stereotypes associated with homosexuality (probably more likely).

Additionally, Coulter was making a clear reference to the recent uproar which ultimately resulted in Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington giving into PC pressure to check into “homophobia rehab” after calling his homosexual co-star T.R. Knight a “faggot.”

But to hear the left talk about it, you’d think Coulter had gone so far as to pine for the assassination of the Vice President of United States or something (and, of course, that’s exactly what liberal activist Bill Maher actually did on the same day Coulter made her unfortunate comments. And it should come as little surprise that we’ve heard only the deafening and ever-so-telling clamor of silence from the left on that one. Gotta love that double standard!)

So, while making her inflammatory comments, perhaps Coulter – in her own less than glorious way – intended not only to question John Edwards’ political machismo but to suggest that America’s self-appointed thought police stop trying to force those who dare to violate their politically correct word-code into Orwellian, re-education “rehab” camps. When Coulter spoke last Friday, everyone heard the word “faggot.” But if you take her words – abrasive as they were – in their full context, she was apparently just telling the left to back off and “bag it.”

Name-calling now passes for thought
So when the left lowers the bar of civil discourse, we're supposed to smile and be proud when conservatives limbo under it?

Maybe at the next CPAC convention we can have a farting contest.

I thought we were the smart, mature ones.

FINALLY a voice of Sanity
You and Mike Gallagher seem to be the only Conservative Talking Heads that have any sense. You can register you disapproval (of the remark) without the over-the-top, hysterical, prissy, self-righteous, hypocritical, screeching we are hearing from so many on the right.

Annie got her gun
I do not dispute Ms. Coulter's right to express herself as she pleases. Everyone else does. However, I do not normally read Ms. Coulter's columns becaues I find them shrill and mean spirited. Not everyone does. Thats just me.

Regarding the calling the Breck boy an English cigaret its been tried before and found wanting.

Correction
I meant to say that everyone else seems to express themselves as they please.

Gay community's use of "faggot"
The gay community, in general, does NOT use "faggot" as a term of endearment. I have NEVER heard it used as such.

Way to go Ann!
Even though the American people are the most giving of all the countries combined. Empty suit Edwards was on the news this morning telling his audience that Americans are selfish! He then goes on to speak for Jesus saying he would be disappointed and upset with them. All the while looking like the wimpy little twerp he is.

Tell it like it is Ann! It doesn't matter what you say the Moonbats will attack you. I love it when you get the Liberals panties in a knot!

I have no problem
with Ann's comments.

I can not believe we are still talking
this:

Ann said NOTHING wrong. Get over it.

my 2 cents
AC's calling card is her abrasive mouth/pen - without it she's nothing special. I wrote her a letter years ago in which I said that she does more harm than good with her mouth, etc. and I got back a reply informing me that I might as well get used to it, because it ain't gonna change. That does a lot of good. Altho I do have to admit that sometimes her stuff is funny. Al Francken can be funny too - remember him on SNL?

Question - Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are the best-known conservative personalities - but do they do anything more than exploit the polarization in this country? Not from where I sit.

I flatter myself that there are some liberals reading these words and if there is just ONE of you out there in cyberland who thinks that the greater good of this country might be served if we (both sides) could just tone it down for a little while - we have LOTS of time before the primaries to get our rhetorical swords sharpened up to razor sharp again and get some liberal or neo-con blood on 'em, then just quote the immortal Doctor Johnny Fever from 'WKRP in Cincinatti' -

booger.

But back to all you true red-blooded American conservatives - how about trying to be nice to all them lily-livered whateveryouwannacall'em's at least until after Easter? It'll drive them atheist commie pinko symps libruls nuts.

Ann and the F word.
Context folks. CONTEXT.

I think Ann was making a point about POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

In the Sixties all you needed was Love, now, all you need is REHAB.

That great intellect Ted Williams ( a baseball player of some reknown) said, "If you don't think too good, don't think too much."

She didn't call Edwads a Fa*, she said she wouldn't ,be able, under the Code of PC, to call him one.

To even things out, I am sure that Ann thinks that Barney Frank is a Mucho Macho Muchacho.

Cowby Joe
Agreed. Ann was dead-on and the liberals don't like it.

Boo-frigging-hoo.

Suck it up libs. It's called Freedom of Speech. I have pages on my blogs with scores of liberals laughing at Reagan dying, wanting to kill Bush, Cheney, etc.

The libscum seek to limit OUR speech but not their's. This is a typical commie tactic of attacking your opponent for what you yourself are guilty of.

In defence of Ann
I have been reading Ann's columns (and books) for a couple of years now, and even at her most bombastic she delivers precise political commentary.

By contrast, liberals (a term that used to mean those who loved freedom, until hijacked by the soft-left) can spew out all kinds of Dick-Cheney-must-die commentary, and the the chattering classes are expected to laugh.

This is a set-up -> Ann must be used to being misunderstood, but now she is being taken completely out of context.

What she was actually doing was pointing out what happens when you create a thought-crime, and this is far sinister than any unintended slight to John Edward's sexuality.

Lynne
I am with you on this one. I am amazed at how few on the right or left seemed to recognize the point that using a non-PC word gets you sent to the reeducation gulag. Yes, she said the dreaded "F-Word", but it had a point...

Of course, I am still pondering the use of PC words. If a rapper uses the "N-Word", it is A-OK, but if anyone else does, it is so horrendous that the newscasters can't even say it. (Though Jesse Jackson said "hymie town" with nary a censor removing the word... and when neo-nazis spray kike on a synagogue, that word is spoken. But if they also spray paint n-gg-r, that gets bleeped, blurred out, and referred to as the n-word... odd how all that works... Also, dyke is ok, but f-gg-t is not. Qu--r is ok [though not w/ TH filters, though OK in an article, apparently], or maybe not, and spic is ok. Why, just see what gets by the TH filters and what doesn't. It is kind of humorous to see which words even a conservative site censors and which it does not.)

Goshawk
Don't forget John Leftwards single-handed war on OB/GYN's in NC with his funneling of his profits into shell corporations so as not to pay taxes on it.

I like his 28,000 sq ft mansion, on 200 acres of secluded land, as he bemoans "two-Americas"!

I wonder how generous he is with HIS money. We already know that he's mighty generous with ours through his need to raise taxes, universal health care whether you need it or not, etc.

This speaks volumes of the hate here.
"homosexuality is rooted in disordered, unhealthy and changeable behaviors that have – prior to the onset of social post-modernism – been considered both immoral and repulsive. Being black is rooted in, well, being black."

Typical bigotry at it's most vile.

How pathetic that new conservatives mantra is "a f*ggot sure aint no n*gger"

How about a gay black person - I guess they are just "unfortunate"?

you people are utterly shameless.

Allen
I wonder if you were mewling over Condi being called "kitchen help" or "Aunt Jemima" by the left, or Colin Powell being called a "house n*gger? How about dhimmicrats in Maryland throwing Oreos at Michael Steele? Did that make you cry too?

I see far more minorities on the Right than I do on the Left. Exactly HOW MANY blacks did America's first "black" president have in HIS Cabinet? Not a lot.

BTW, while riding on the metro the other day, the black guy behind me used the words "n*gger" and "f*ggot" and "b*tch" when talking to someone on his cell. I guess that THAT was okay huh?

Looks like the offended
...come from the ranks of columnists, pundits, and members of "think tanks". The grass roots got the point.

Now we're getting the second point, which is that conservative columnists (with a few exceptions) won't stand up for anyone.

This is exactly why we've had no success at changing the culture of Washington DC, and why we were all left wondering what happened to our party when it began to entrench itself in the capital.

Eat the offended! They all taste like moderates anyway...

andrews
I can't stand TH's censorship and filters. If rough language bothers you, guess what, DON'T COME HERE!

But then again, having BEEN to Siberia once...

the sad thing...
is that Bill Maher got looped into this free pub when he didn't even know what he was doing-
unlike Coulter who knew exactly what she was doing...
She's that much smarter!

Coulter
I am thinking of getting rid of my Ann Coulter books. This is not what we need in the conservative movement. Ann is making good money by being controversial. Her comments have become are too harsh. Coulter and Limbaugh have made big money off the conservative movement. Let's not be sheep and let this kind of language become acceptable. I have always admired Ann's courage, but she has pushed the envelop too far, and it's time for her voice to be silenced. If we can't converse and conduct ourselves better than the liberals, we are no better than they.

Linda from Whittier:
How about you use that sane word at work? (If you work.) What's going to happen? You'd be fired. There's a reason for that. It isn't acceptable. Anywhere. Even at a political rally. Hence the disgust expressed by the left and most of the right.

We need to beat back that big fat lie that the "gay community" uses that word as a form of "endearment." Says the far right. Obviously some might somewhere, but it is by no means even remotely common.

Sorry, Barber: Words like the f-word and the n-word exist for precisely the same reason. Argue otherwise. You can't.

These words were created by the same people for the same reason: To express their hatred. People who use one of those words ALWAYS use the other. There are no exceptions. When people use these words, they intend to insult in equal measure. They don't rationalize that the f-word is not as bad as the n-word. They know them to be the same. Knowing this to be true - as any thinking person most certainly understands - what does this say about you? For your objection to be valid, you must argue that gays deserve the animosity that is expressed in the n-word. You're not going to hear a lot of your fellow conservatives arguing that. That must be why you are among the handful who are outraged by the outrage. Disgraceful.

All Hail Ann
Fagg_t, fagg_t, fagg_t, I guess I will have to go join Ann in the reeducation camps. I hope they take my insurance. Is that covered under Hilary care?

Thank you GunnyG
How perfect. GunnyG's 7:04 post provides support for my comment that if you use the n-word, you're gonna use the f-word. There are really no exceptions. If one is acceptable, so is the other. Why were people upset at Ann. That's why.

GunnyG
Defending ann coulters use of the word "f*ggot" by pointing out other indecent behavior is just weak.

Reason
The only way to keep everyone happy is to ban all words that might offend someone. Insure free speech by banning words.

Has the world gone crazy, or are we suffering from HYPER EMPATHY.

Perhaps a Tin Foil Hat will protect you from the Dictionary.

Shall we filter Latin next?

Anus holoucastus non disputandum.

If these words should be proscribed,

Don't argue with inflamed body parts anterior to a Vagina.

that's it - remember who matters
This will be my last post on the topic, unless someone wants to tell me why the f-word is more acceptable than the n-word. (Remember to explain how the people who use these words (in anger) use them differently if you believe there's a difference.)

People on the far right and on the far left love to put the moderates down (see Mondamay 7:06), but we're the ones who hold all of the cards. We outnumber both sides. If you irritate us, we don't vote for you. If we see a party that appears to be circling the wagons to protect and excuse the inexcusable, we are a lot less likely to vote for that party. Thankfully for Republicans, the wagons are few and far between for Coulter. Mondamay, you talk about the "grass-roots" getting it. You'd better hope the moderates don't get that your "grass-roots" get Ann Coulter.

And for those who talk about Coulter hurting the "Movement"... I'd recommend keeping the M-word away from the king-makers as much as possible. It's kind of creepy. To the moderate ear, you might as well call it "The Family."

So what?
Ann is still the BEST! She says what I cannot say and has the larger audience with which to say it to.
Like it or not...she nails it every time. John Edwards is a girly man for sure and Ann just has a more direct way of saying it.

great take, Barber!
Ann was really just saying "bag it!" I appreciate your ability to turn it around. It wasn't ok for Ann to say what she did among those who have reverence for all of life...not just reverence for those who agree with the pc left.

Cowboy Joe:
Do we really have to go there? Isn't that a little extreme? Can't we all agree that there is a group of words that are too offensive, too disrespectful and too demeaning for use in public? We all know these words. Most learn them as kids, about the time we learn they shouldn't be used. Is it really unreasonable to say that the f-word is one of them?

I speak for Coulter
Funny how everyone tries to speak for Coulter. She doesn't speak for me, and I don't speak for her. I just like to sit back and watch the way she makes leftists squirm...

And the right.
She seems to be bothering the rightists as well.

No class
I will stand up and defend her right to say it, but I thought that Ann Coulter showed a total lack of class and respectability in her speech.

No defense needed
Ann is probably smirking at all the offers of coming to her defense and making of excuses for her. She needs no one to stand for her, she stands alone and most times at the head of the crowd. My friends, wind her up and turn her loose, don't try to stifle her.

Reason
In the Movie Amadeus, Mozart asked the Emperor of Austria what he thought of one of his musical works.

The Emperor responded that he thought the work had "too many notes." Mozart asked what notes should I remove? The Emperor had no response.

What note, or word should we remove from our language?

I guess our language has too many words.

Shall the "Empress" provide a list?

Sad
Those who will not learn from history are condemned to repeat it... (with apologies to Santayana).

The Romans hated the Gauls and other barbarians. Early in Rome's history, Rome stomped them. The literally salted the ground after destroying Carthage. Later, Rome embraced foreign cultures. And some hate-filled barbarians overran Rome.

In the late middle-ages, wars, particularly in the last remnants of western-European civilization, wars were fought by condotteri, mercenaries. Laws of War were developed, because wars were used to settle social and political issues, and wasting mercs got expensive fast.

At the time of the first American War of Independence, the British military was still attempting to follow the Laws of War. The colonials weren't.

Sherman's march to the sea, the destruction of Atlanta, none of this was according to the Laws of War. But it was effective, and Sherman's side won.

In WWII, in Europe we followed the Laws of War. We pulled up and waited 3 weeks for the Soviets to take Berlin. The Soviets didn't follow the Laws of War. They still don't.

In WWII, in the Pacific, we followed the Laws of War, and the result was the Bataan Death March. We threw away the Laws of War and "killed Japs".

Since WWII, our political left has hamstrung our military with "rules of engagement"... our own side! Their greatest fear was not defeat, but that we would use the enemy's tactics.

Now the pseudo-cons, the liberals President Reagan dragged into the party, are attempting to hamstring conservatives the same way. The left doesn't care what we think of them, so long as they win. Pseudo-cons don't care if we win, just so we're thought well-of.

The n-word and the f-word are not comparable. The first describes a specific race, the latter describes practitioners of a disgusting appetite.
Ms Coulter's use of the word is not at all disgusting; what the word describes is.

The outrage I have seen has not been that she insulted Edwards by questioning his manhood. The outrage I've seen is that she dare use a derogatory term to refer to sexual deviants.

Lost in the noise is the fact that a person was coerced into going into rehab for insulting a co-worker by using a derogatory term for that person's sexual perversion. Orwell's Thoughtcrime exists. Did anyone *really* think that "hatecrime" would not eventually lead to "thoughtcrime"? The basis for hatecrime is thoughtcrime. And the progenitors of hatecrime are the non-discrimination laws. Slippery slope indeed.

Once upon a time, when America was powerful and pretty much ran the world, being a sexual deviant was a sickness. Now, when America's power has slipped, when we can't even run ourselves, insulting a sexual deviant is a sickness.

We were a better nation and better people, then.

All those in support of Ann, THANK YOU!
Like Lynne, I was also pretty beat up over my posts this past weekend in defense of Ann. My problem was that readers were NOT given the full story, nor the context of Ann's remark so that they could reach their own judgement of Ms. Coulter. Instead readers were just told to hate her for her "horrid" comment. The whole thing turned into an angry witch hunt, fueling the fire of conservatives and liberals everywhere (like liberals need more of that!) Interestingly enough when I attempted to submit my post following Mike Gallagher's column today, the posts simply disappeared, told me the "page could not be found" and erased my log in. What is up with that? Has anyone noticed that there are not a whole lot of comments following either of these columns in comparison to earlier ones attacking Ann? Why is that? Well, time to see if this post disappears as well...here goes.

Hey, my post
did not disappear this time. It's a miracle!

Cowboy Joe
Right. There are no words that shouldn't be uttered. If someone says one word is not appropriate then that means we need to get rid of all words. Language has never worked that way. Thankfully. Without words we would still be living alongside the apes.

I know that the word "vulgar" came into the English language in the 14th century. Does anyone know the oldest known word that is equivalent to our "vulgar?" I don't know it, but I know it is extremely ancient.

We - meaning human beings - have always had words that we deem unacceptable for use. There's nothing PC about this. It's the way it has been, the way it is, and the way it will always be.

By the way, I know of no one who thinks rehab is the correct course of action for an employer to take when an employee (including actors) uses the f-word to describe a co-worker. The correct response, of course, is dismissal.

Regarding Ann Coulter, again.
Is. 29:21 ...who by a word make a man out to be an offender and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right.

Amos 5:10 They hate him who reproves in the gate and they abhor him who speaks the truth.

There really IS nothing new under the sun. Same spirits; different day.

Only Words....
Y'all crack me up ! All y'all.

Hey Kimberly - Mike Admas for President !

What the left really hates...
Since hate/hate-speech has become the issue at the forefront of this debate, one important point of distinction needs to be made here on the issue of hatred.
Ironically, liberals have no problem with hate itself...or hate speech, just as long as they are the ones doing the hating. Most conservatives and/or at least the Christian ones believe in the concept that WE SHOULD "hate the sin, but love the sinner", and I believe most of us try to live by that principle. Liberals, on the other hand, seem to believe in the exact opposite principle ...."they love the sin, but hate the sinner". To further complicate the matter, they have an entirely different definition of the very term sin. For liberals, holding the mere opinion that homosexuality is a sin ....is the essence of sin itself. Their response to those of us that hold that belief is one of hate...but their hate is not directed solely at our belief system. It is also directed at those of us that dare to have those beliefs. And since they feel justified for their own hatred and their reasons for having it, they either don't or can't understand how the "hate the sin, but love the sinner" concept is possible.

So any time they perceive or suspect the 'sin of non-acceptance' (whether the issue is homosexuality, or abortion, or war and defence, etc.) ...they immediately try and attach motives of hatred on the part of those that reject their world view. They naturally assume that we would hate in the same way they do...both the sin and the sinner!

That is why so many of them proudly proclaimed their desires for the death of our VP in recent events. They feel justified at their hatred of anyone that has a different world-view to themselves. Some even extended that hatred to not only the VP, but at least one wished that same fate on the VP''s wife Lynn, and another one had the same hate filled wishes for Laura Bush. (Thank you Michele Malkin for the saved .pdf file of the postings before Arianna 'got rid of the evidence')

So maybe the next time, those of you that were so quick to condemn Ann, are on the receiving end of liberal hatred, maybe you will re-examine your decision to join in with the libs on attacking one of our own.

Which would you prefer someone do? Call you a faggot?...or wish you were dead?

If we can even assume that Ann's comments were motivated by hate...of any kind or nature, do any here think that hatred (if it even existed) extended to the individuals that practice the act of homosexuality?...or was it merely at the act itself?...or was it a not-to-subtle attack on the feminization of the American male as personalized by John Edwards? ...or was it at the hypocrisy and absurdness of the liberal left to punish thought that doesn't conform to their norms?

Is there any acceptable word that we conservatives can use to label a homosexual?...or can I no longer use THAT term either since it is exclusionary? Do you really think those liberals that have screeched the loudest about Ann's comments (or any liberals for that matter) were more concerned about the 'word' itself?...or was the implication that there is something wrong with the homosexual act the real focus of their anger?

Sailing right over our heads
I guess I lied when I said that "this will be my last post." It floors me that there are people who are actually arguing that Ann Coulter is a hero for calling Edwards a "faggot." Yes, I know she really didn't call him that...?? Wasn't it Coulter herself who said that it was just a schoolyard taunt? I guess she taunted the air, but certainly not Edwards.

Ham, Malkin, McCullough, Hewitt, Medved, Barnett and many others are hardly afraid of liberals. So what explains the problem they have with Coulter? Are these people wimps. To be a wimp, you have to be afraid of something. What are they afraid of? Folks, they thought Coulter was offensive and said so. They said so despite knowing that they would receive heat from some in "The Movement." All of the people mentioned above have more courage than Coulter.

not ashamed to be right
I had the same problem as you when trying to post my comment on the Mike Gallagher article. I tried several times and got the same "page could not be found" link.

ANN COULTER AND BILL MAHER

I have never liked Bill Maher. Now I have even more reason not to like him. He never seemed even a bit humorous to me, even though he was allegedly a comedian. Now, sadly, he's not even good enough to be a clown. Maybe he'd be good at blowing up balloons at children's parties. There's certainly enough hot air for it.

I have always liked Ann Coulter. I appreciate very much the addition of the paragraph about Isaiah Washington and the "homophobia rehab." It rather put things into perspective -- as it should for everyone. I'd forgotten about that.

Reason
"By the way, I know of no one who thinks rehab is the correct course of action for an employer to take when an employee (including actors) uses the f-word to describe a co-worker. The correct response, of course, is dismissal."

Only so long as you can dismiss an employee who is, in fact, homosexual. Or require him to go into rehab. Unlike the actor who insulted a homosexual, at least the homosexual would NEED rehab of some kind.

Addendum; so long as the employer can fire an employee for any reason, such as having the wrong color skin (or hair) or insufficient limbs (ie, female), then yes, an employee should be dismissable for calling a sexual deviant a pejorative term.

If the offended party (ie, the f*gg*t) is not permitted to sue the employer for a fellow employee calling him f*gg*t, then there's no reason for the employer to dismiss the insulter. Simply tell the two of them to take it out back, and when it's settled, they can come back in.
Either one employee will learn to keep his mouth shut, or the other will either learn to live with being insulted, or go into rehab.

Ouch!!!
After making the point that Isaiah Washington fled to rehab a la Mel Gibson, Captain's Quarters asks the following:

If Coulter had said, "I'd talk about Israel, but you can't say that the Jews control the Bush administration and cause all the wars without going into rehab," would she have so many defenders?

There's no conservative defense for Ann Coulter.

IN DEFENSE OF ANN
Well, then, Reason, let it be a liberal defense.

The difference is
No conservative suggests you have to go to rehab if you say the idiotic rhetoric that Jews control the administration and cause all the wars.

An actor insulted a homosexual and was forced by his employer to go into rehab as if HE were the sick individual rather than the homosexual. Another actor, Gibson, got drunk, and while being arrested said stupid things about Jews. He wasn't required to go to rehab by his employer for saying stupid things about Jews.

If someone were to seriously assert that Jews control the Bush administration and cause all the wars, then that person might well need the help of a mental health professional... just like a homosexual.

But someone insulting a homosexual, or insulting someone who suggests that Jews control the Bush administration and cause all the wars almost certainly would not require the help of a mental health professional.

*sigh*

"Germany used tanks to invade France, we used tanks to liberate France. NOT the same thing". - George Will.

Mel Gibson did not go to rehab for saying that Jews controlled the Bush administration or caused all the wars. He went there because he's a drunk.

Being a sexual deviant is not the same as being Jewish, btw.

Note that Tom Cruise belittled the myth of post-partum depression (and anyone who says it's real, hand me your voter registration card right now, because if you're subject to homicidal insanity as a result of giving birth, you have no business voting,) and never went to rehab. And his career is in the toilet, just as Gibson's may be. Maybe if he'd gone to rehab Hollyweird would once again embrace him.

"Look mama! The Emperor has no clothes on!"
"Hush dear! Do you want us to end up in rehab??"

Sigh
jdw: "Being a sexual deviant is not the same as being Jewish, btw."

Oh, good grief. Of course no one said being gay is the same as being Jewish. Do we have to go through this tiresome routine everytime we want to use an analogy?

Analogy: Similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar.

Put your clothes back on Emperor!

wow
jdw. I should have read your post more closely. Anyone who seriously argues that the ordeal of pregnancy is not capable of bringing on depression is not a worthy debate partner on any subject.

Wow
Reason,
Of course pregnancy, and even giving birth can bring on depression. So can losing at the casino. So can working hard all day. So can participating in online debates. So can looking in the mirror and seeing the wrinkles that tell you you've wasted the better years of your life. So go drown your kids?

But we're not talking about depression, we're talking about "depression". Just like menstruation is an excuse for women to act for a week like they want to act all month, "post-partum depression" is an excuse for them to be irresponsible for up to a year, possibly more, after giving birth. If women are such automatons that they should A) get attention, B) be given a pass for their behavior, all because they can't control it because they have female reproductive equipment, then we *seriously* need to rethink giving them the vote, letting them hold office, letting them work in sensitive jobs... or maybe not-so-sensitive jobs. "Hey, boss, I'm sane 3 out of 4 weeks a month, gimme a break!"

BTW, Reason, we're not partners, we're not buddies, and we're not friends, and if Ganzt gets away... oh, wait... "48 Hours" moment there. Must be that time of the month...
But I digress (forgive me, I'm feeling bloated); we're not debate partners, we're debate opponents.

Nat Turner, I bet if you shot up a syringe of heroin every five minutes you wouldn't be so high strung.

stratus
you said:
"She will get more and more outrageous as more and more BushCo thugs are sent to jail."

I hope your reference to 'BushCo thugs' isn't for Scooter Libby.

If it is. Would you care to elaborate for us and explain to us the exact nature of his 'thuggery'!

And.......You wouldn't happen to be expressing a hope-filled desire that Ann 'puts the bullet to her brain'!? ...now would you? It's so refreshing to see love filled libs like yourself stand on the moral high ground! And ....how did you come up with such an original and brilliant thought? Amazing! We've never heard anything like that before!

Reason
"Analogy: Similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar."

A well-done steak is brown. Feces from a healthy human is brown. Therefore, steak has similarity in some respect to poop.

This is what we call, "a BAD analogy".

"Whales are like toothpicks; both are found on Earth."

Another bad analogy.

The flaw in your analogy is A) there's nothing wrong with being Jewish, and B) Mel Gibson didn't go to rehab for insulting a Jew. Nor was it his employer forcing him to go into rehab.

NOT the same thing.

Stratus
Please list the crimes you allege were committed by "Bushco".

Please define the group you identify as "Bushco". Do they have a corporate charter? Do they sell stock? Where can I buy some? Did Zaphod Beeblebrox really steal the election?

You do realise that if your ilk do succeed in winning the triple crown, Ms Coulter will NOT be able to do as you wish, end her life with a firearm? She won't be able to obtain one, since your Congress (with your President's approval) will make them all vanish in a puff of legislation.

Under Clinton, there was the fairytale cabinet, full of trolls and fairies and at least one ogre. Now we have a fairytale Congress, likewise filled with trolls and ogres, fairies and at least one dragon.

Photogbill,
Thank you for letting me know the same thing happened to you...I was beginning to wonder.
Several hours have passed and the number of posts remains the same, so there must be a problem with that column, page, or link.

Lynne,
Thank you. I had read your posts on several of the columns....kept hoping we would bump into each other on one of them so as to give us each moral support from the beatings!

Spirit of 76

Your thread sounded almost like how the lefties talk about the terrorist problem. "If we go over there and commit violence against the oppressors, then we are no better than they. “

At first, I, too, thought that AC had lost the moral high-ground. Then I stopped to wonder; what is the big deal? Just about everyone has thought those 'nasty' words. Why should we be afraid to say them? Or to hear them?

Even if you don’t like what she said on one occasion, it does not mean that all her speech is worthless.

If you don’t like her using a non-PC term, give her a ‘bye’ on that one and keep your mind open and your intellect sharp for the real issues that she exposes.

abstract
I'm tired of the groupthink... "if we do A, we're no better than our enemies!"

I'm me. They're them. I do what I do, they do what they do. It is the most adolescent, high-school nonsense to worry about appearances in a knife-fight. As an individual, I *know* I'm better than them, because I don't espouse their idiotic liberal philosophy. I'm not a conservative because I'm different from 'them'; I'm different from 'them' because I'm a conservative.

"General, we've decided that we can't use semi-automatic assault weapons against the insurgents, because the insurgents use semi-automatic assault weapons, and we just don't want to be like THEM!"

Faggot
So, I suppose I can call you a "faggot" and that's okay.

Faggot.

You're a faggot.

Does that feel good?

Is that okay? Faggot!?!

If it's okay for her to use it, then I'm going to use it against everyone.

Faggot. You're a faggot, Matt. And everyone you know. Your father's a faggot. Your brothers are faggots (if you have them).

Faggot.

You seem to think the word is okay in discourse, so I'm just taking it to the conclusion you seem to assume is logical.

Isn't that right, faggot?

Faggot.

Oh, once again...
Faggot.

Since you seem to think it's okay to use the word, I'm just taking one more chance to call you a faggot. Faggot.

briano
Does 'briano' remind anyone else of a 4 yo that just learned the words 'poopy pants'!?...lol

I love it
Every time some moonbat like Coulter says something stupid like she did the other day, it means more Democratic voters. Keep whistling while your Rome burns, conservatives ... a generation from now, you'll be a memory.

concord2123
Hmmmm...just imagine how many Democrats have become Republicans based on the stupid things said by not one, but hundreds of liberals everywhere, everyday, all the time. Amazing isn't it when one turns your "logic" on its head.

HYPOCRITES
Where was all of this support for the bloggers who'd put anti catholic rhetoric into their blogs?

The whole thing reminds me
...of the kerfuffle over the Holy Father when he quoted a 13th century scholar. The quote pointed out that Islam only brings violence (I'm not debating the point or the quote) and the reaction was... violence!

Coulter can be shrill and crude, but maybe because I was away for the weekend and didn't hear any of this until Monday, I saw the point, clear as day.

Coulter said that if you use the word "faggot" you would get shuffled off to rehab. Now, the world is demanding an apology and (presumably) rehab.

Seems like she (and the Pope) made her point.

GenXdad
I have to agree with your take. Ann doesn't need to go below the belt; she's much smarter. She loves barbs, though; it's what makes her tick. If libs like Kimberly didn't squirm, AC would stop doing what she does. Each and every time your party gives her press, Kimberly, Ann laughs at you. Give her a challenge, would ya?
On the other hand - had Ann said ANYTHING, the libs would be up in arms. Libs and Dems are afraid of conservatives. They blame them for everything, they b_tch and whine over the most trivial thoughts or words for fear that Joe & Mary Taxpayer might hear them and agree. And we can't have the conservative idea heard or seen. That might pull the carpet out from under our favorite used car salesman, the Liberal.

By now
everyone knows liberals are hypocrites to the "nth" degree. Another blog is talking about how we must keep killing babies but, golly gee, it's wrong to have sex selection (you know == only killing the baby girls). Hypocrisy. They're caught in so many lies (i.e. abortion, homosexual lifestyle, opinions on the war and funding the war, religion) and on and on ad nauseam.

Once you lie about anything, you have to keep up the lie. Then you forget what you originally lied about. The lies keep getting bigger (like John Edward's hair)and pretty soon--you're a liberal!!!

Ann Coulter is the smartest, funniest, prettiest, most well rounded popular speaker out there. All those opposed to her (both liberal and conservative alike) are either jealous or just need help getting the stick out of their butts. So many people, so few who "get it."

beez
Very good summary, Ann was making a point that the left in our country have completely lost their mind and are attempting to control thought through "hate crime" legislation and PC "reeducation camps"...historically, the commies’ favorite tool.

The liberals want to prove Ann wrong...by completely losing their mind! Don't they see the irony in their own actions?

On a separate issue, how the hell is a lesbian who calls herself, “Likestofingerher” going to lecture us on morality and proper language? Are moonbats born ignorant or is it something they have to work on?

Lynne
Looks like we were typing almost the same thing at the same time....I guess great minds think alike :)

Sticks and stones
Why are little children more resilient than most on the left and right? They say "words will never hurt me", while we "educated" adults say words will hurt others so badly you need to go to indoctrination camp if you say them...

Of course, there is also a double standard. Saying "n-word" or "f-word" gets you sent to the gulag. Saying that Cheney planned 9/11, or that Jews are poisoning Palestinian water supplies, gets you a cult following and maybe a talk show.

Strange how that works.

Funny
Funny to listen to Briano, Nat Turner and likes2finmgerher use far more offensive language to show us how offensive we should find Ann Coulter. I know that was Briano's (juvenile) point, but does he not get that you can't use offensive language to prove another was offensive. "Stop using f--king obscenities" does not work.

In addition, to the one who asks why we don't also support anti-catholic comments, the point is: Coulter was mocking the idea that saying f-gg-t gets you sent to a reeducation camp, that is not the same as saying that anti-catholic bloggers are appropriate employees for a presidential campaign. (By the way, the complaint against Edwards' bloggers was that they were a stupid choice for Edwards to hire, not that they have no right to be biggoted idiots in public.)

Lastly
Like2fingerher-

Obviously you have not been to the wrong places, as there are groups that like to mock "breeders" quite publically. Doesn't really prove anything, except that there are crude individuals of all stripes.

On the other hand, I am with Coulter in saying it is absurd to force "rehab" (or indoctrination) on someone for using "offensive" lnaguage. So, let them yell "breeders" or "f-gg-t" or whatever they like. I, for one, support the right of anyone to say whatever stupid thing they want.

Separated at birth?
Is Likes2FingerHer a new ID for Julia or are TH lesbians just naturally prone to incredibly crude posts?

You don't really make your point for gay people being "just like everyone else" when every post has to focus on vaginal penetration and other details of your sex life. If you notice, almost no one else gives us graphic blow-by-blow descriptions of theirs. Makes you seem a bit obsessed with sex when you do so, and kind of cuts the legs from under your argument.

Not that it will change your posting, especially if you are Julia.

Last point
And, I really shouldn't have to say this, but: If your girlfriend "impregnates" you as descrbed, it is not the same as fathering a child. Unless you designate as a bull any farmer who inseminates a cow.

She may be the medium for transmitting genetic information, but it isn't hers.

Just have to point out there is a crucial difference between what you describe and truly fathering a child. Now if your girlfriend can generate the "swimming juice", as you so... um.... charmingly call it, then she can father children, but somehow I doubt that is the case.

Publicity
It's what she needs to survive and what she gets with each outrageous comment. I recall the 10 words you can't say on TV, (George Carlin) but of course now you can. Anything goes now, and not just words, but actions. It is nothing to turn on the boob tube at 4 in the afternoon and find a couple making love, and gender doesn't matter. You can say anything, do anything, as long as it is politically correct. I'm sick of it. Ann Coulter can say anything she wants and I will support her right to do so. I'm glad someone in the public eye has the nerve to get down in the mud with the pc liberals. Maybe we will all realize just how dictatorial the thought police have become.
As for the left and MSM who are clamoring for the canidates to "distance themselves" from Coulter's remarks, when did you ever insist or even suggest that your canidates distance themselves from the likes of Bill Mahr, Al Franken, or Michael Moore? Get a life.

!!!!
I'm still waiting for the libtards to show me where their constitutional right not to be offended is located.
Hate crimes legislation is no different than every other condradiction that the left comes up with (i.e...abortion good/death penalty bad)
In the past couple of weeks a military (white) couple on the island of Oahu were brutally beaten, in front of their three yo child, after a minor fender bender in a parking lot. The Hawaiian family that was doing the beating (that would be the mother, father, and 16 yo son), according to the witnesses, were screaming "F*$%ing Haoles". Haole is the hawaiian word for a foreigner not from Hawaii. It has over the years come to only mean those of caucasian decent, born there or not. It is often used as an insult. There was no doubt that this was a disgusting HATE CRIME. Apparently straight white people can't have hate crimes commited against them. The prosecutor refused to charge it as a hate crime. No different than the gang of young black teenagers in the LA suburb that beat three young white girls brutally last Halloween.
Those that defend Ann Coulter understand her point and are tired of the contradictions coming from the left and are sick of the PC garbage that is ruining our rights!!!

Shouldn't someone be the adult?
Yes, political correctness is complete BS, but do we have to lower ourselves down to the level of Ann Coulter? C'mon. Someone has to be the adult, don't they?

Who uses more profanity
Alright,I'll play...just because Monkey girl never knows when to shut up....
She said, "The right's mantra is always about left "hate speak". Why would anyone take issue with Coulter's comments given that history of the rightwing slinking to the fainting couch with faux vapors over liberal 'meanness'?? I mean really?
I said,"The LEFT's mantra is always about RIGHT "hate speak". Why would any right thinking person take issue with Coulter's comments given that history of the moonbat's overwhelming use of profaneness against anything/body on the right? Liberal 'meanness" I mean really, duh! It is defined by 20 different liberal blogs to 22 Right blogs...The leftists used profanity 363,469 times compared to 21,319 times on the right...
WOW! Kimmy! Imagine that? Now we won't bring up all your cronies who wished Cheney dead on Daily Kos or Huff..nor will we mention Bill I hate the USA Maher's comment either. How come Howard Dean, master of the scream isn't calling for a statement retraction? He's sooo mean! Waaaaa! That double standard will always come back to bite you in that A**,won't it?

BTW
The seven words are:
Shi*t, Pis*, fu**, C**t, c-sucker, Mother-effer, and the boob word that starts with t that townhall censored.

here we go again...
The Democratic Party is so thin skinned, makes one wonder how they think they are fit to lead this nation. Delusional I'd say.

"N-word?"
I'm so sick of everyone turning into PC police. Soon we'll have not just the N-word, but the F1-word, F2-word, K-word, S-word, W-word, D-word, ad nauseum! Communication of ideas certainly is getting difficult.

Hate crimes
MyTownUSA-

Doesn't surprise me. Back in the early 90's I was beaten unconscious by 5 or 6 young black men who called me "white m---f---er". I was handed to the "hate crime" officer who did nothing for a few weeks. He finally called me once. His one comment was "what were you doing in that neighborhood?" I never heard another word about the case, and it has been quite a long time

I have a hard time believing that a black man who had been beaten would have waited weeks to hear anything and would then be asked "what were you doing in that neighborhood?"

On the other hand, I was shocked that I was even given the status of "hate crime", as black on white crime is rarely so designated, so I guess I should count my blessings.

Reason
EXCELLENT point.

"If Coulter had said, "I'd talk about Israel, but you can't say that the Jews control the Bush administration and cause all the wars without going into rehab," would she have so many defenders?"

Gathering of Eagles/Move America Forward
Not on topic but important. These two great organizations are combining efforts for the pro troop rally in DC on March 17th. Move America Forward has organized a caravan that starts tomorrow in SF and ends on the 17th in DC. There are about 20 stops scheduled for the caravan. If you can't be in DC on the 17th to show your support go to one of the rallys. You can find the information here:
http://www.moveamericaforward.org/
http://gatheringofeagles.org/

I'm sure Ann just made a botched joke.

Orwell on the money
Folks, welcome to 1984, it is almost 100% here. We have the thought police - "hate" crime, have "anger" crime (don't get angry at that dumb thing that driver did) we have red light cameras watching us (and causing more accidents - I was taught to look both ways after the light changed to green) we have GPS in our cars and cell phones, we have black boxes connected to our air bags and we have the "speech police" When 1984 came uot, people could not fathom a world like that. Yet, "It's Heeeere!"
I believe Don Henley had a song that covers all of this - "Get Over It". Most people infer what people do not imply (figure that one out) They have imagined the other persons meaning, in other words, despite what it they actually meant - assumed in other words. Being offended by what another says about you is giving that person power over you that they do not have. It that what you wish? Uh, perhaps we could revive the Britishh word "Pouf" (sp?)

Anne Coulter still??
I suppose comments and columns and articles about Anne Coulter's faggot joke will go on forever.

In this case though, Matt Barber appears to have a good handle on the situation.

Free Speech is free speech and it is guaranteed by our Constitution, although the amendment was created to guarantee political speech and discourse. Nowhere in our sacred document is there a right for the leftist liberals to promote political correctness or to define words and determine whether they can be used or not in normal or political discussions.

If I used the N word once, then I guess I must have planted evidence in the course of my job.

When I was a kid, we used the term faggot many times in the way Anne explains its schoolyard use. We didn't mean it seriously though.

Silly isn't it? And I sure wish you liberals could write coherent comments and spell the words correctly. Too much activism or sports in school?

Finally, there is a pronounced danger in rueing the failed attempt on our Vice President's life. And there is an even greater danger in the vitriolic anti-war crowd efforts to forestall the war in Iraq and on Terror. These people have never cared how much they give aid and comfort to our enemies.

Hanoi Jane call your office.

Bjorn F
We go the point the first time you made it. By the third time you are getting a bit tiresome.

We get it. You think conservatives are all hateful klansmen running around talking about f-gg-ts and n-gg-rs... Unfortunately the only klansman in congress has a (D) after his name, but don't worry about that. Why let reality ruin a good (if repetitive) rant?

Said It Before, Here It Is, Again...
Ohmygosh...it's not like Ann is an elected US Senator from a northeastern predominantly Democrat state, er, commonwealth, who "misjoked" but actually does make decisions about how we live our lives.

She's a commentator, author and entertainer who happens to be more in line with my way of conservative thinking. And she'll continue to be a commentator, author and entertainer, unlike another commentator, author and comedian who's running for the US Senate from Minnesota so he can actually make decisions about how we live our lives.

Please, dear God, deliver us from this news cycle. Please find us some new "real" news...something else on the order of Anna Nicole's passing.

Quit Calling Them "Gay"
They are NOT "Gay". My 1957 Webster's defines "gay" several ways but no way does it define gay as a homosexual.

The homosexuals stole this little word 40 plus years ago and used it as a disguise. Unfortunately, journalism picked it up and now everyone uses it. Poor little word. What happened to, "When Our Hearts Were Young And Gay"? Or, "We had a gay ol' time"? No one uses it in any connotation any more except to disguise their perversion or that of someone else's.

After all, "gay" sounds so much less immoral and perverted as "homosexual".

"Gay" is the flighty little guy on "Are You Being Served?"

"Homosexual" is John Wayne Gasey.

PC insanity
I recall a comment by Marilyn vos Savant that, while addressing sex discrimination, is **a propos** here sa well.

Can we trust anyone who needs the government PC police to fight his/her battles in positions of leadership? I don't think so. Anyone who is so wimpy that they need a PC Praetorian Guard to protect against hurt feelings would be a disaster across the table from hard nosed rulers of other countries (or, FTM, the UN SecGen).

The "Q" word is verboten? OMG!! What now; do we now censor Robert Frost's most famous poem "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening?" It's a legitimate word but the connotation has become different over time.

OOPS!
The first sentence should read "as well."

Ann Coulter is BORING....
and for those of you right wing idiots that havent figured out her mode of operation$$$$,
keep making her richer by buying her books.

do us a libs/dems a favor repubs/cons...keep a microphone in front of Ms. Coulter from now on right up to prez elections 2008.

A dem in the white house will be sure bet.

Stratus
The only problem with your theory is that LIBBY DID NOT REVEAL PLAME'S IDENTITY! It was Armitage. So how is Libby the one "tasked with the dirty work" if someone completely unrelated did it?

Not saying there was even a crime. But if you assume there was a crime, Libby had nothing to do with it

For those who "get it"

Thanks to those of you who aren't so uptight that you don't understand Ann's remarks. After wading through the Medved and Sanders articles that were basically on the same subject (and happy to see a few "got it" there), it is a pleasure to review some of the posts on this thread.

What REALLY amuses me is that based on Ann's remarks, the libs are now able to prognosticate the outcomes of the 2008, 2012, 2016 presidential elections; all in favor of the Democrats. Now I find that to be absolutely amazing!

How are they able to be the far-sighted political pundits they claim to be and yet, with a 50 trillion dollar deficit in Social Security and Medicare, they are unable to back a plan to keep them from going broke? Don't they understand that the indebtedness from FDR's programs cannot and will not be paid for generations, if at all?

Why are they worrying about what a single conservative voice is saying when one of the first thing they do when they regain Congress is to try to raise the minimum wage?

Why aren't the libs outraged that a newly elected Muslim to the House of Representatives is talking about impeaching Bush? Talk about going over the edge? Don't they understand we are at war with them?

Re: Sonny
"How are they able to be the far-sighted political pundits they claim to be and yet, with a 50 trillion dollar deficit in Social Security and Medicare, they are unable to back a plan to keep them from going broke? Don't they understand that the indebtedness from FDR's programs cannot and will not be paid for generations, if at all?"

How, indeed. Of course, the indebtedness began while FDR was Gov of NY State; it began on Woodrow Wilson's (another Democrat) watch with the passing and signing of the Federal Reserve Act, the law that -- step by step -- turned our money from hard currency to Federal Reserve Notes. What that means is that our money is **borrowed** into circulation from the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank before we get it. It also means that the tax hikes "to balance the budget" were smoke and mirrors; does anyone try to pay off a car loan by borrowing more from the source of the loan? Not bloody likely.

Your Nickname
and your post are far more offensive than anything Ann has ever written/said.

And we are not the one's with retarded brain development. I guess you forgot who is normal and whose brain is defective.

Likes2Fingerher writes: Wednesday, March, 07, 2007 3:19 AM
You've hit a new low Matt- Bush like!
Apparently, you believe that it's ok to use slurs as long as they're not racially motivated. What if everytime you and your broad (if you even have one) went to dinner, people yelled - BREEDERS! at you.

It is acceptable for groups like gays and blacks to use words that might otherwise be considered derogatory within their own group, as it helps to take away the power of hate-filled words.

Oh, and to clear up the meaning of natural -my stomach hurts from laughing at heteros defending their 'right' to higher legal protections because of the way they screw. Has everyone lost their minds?

My gf can dip her fingers in swimming juice and stick them in me- the swimmers find the way to my egg- and boom- a baby is made. So if your definition of natural involves your partner sticking a body part in you to achieve pregnancy, you lost that battle. If my gf then needs to pee out of her fingers in order for the 'naturalness' to be complete, then you've got us there you sly dogs.

No gay person expects backwoods people like your conservative selves to ever accept us or ever be civil- we believe your retarded brain development is not really your fault, so just try to get through the day. We demand that the law does not treat us as second-class citizens, just like blacks were before the civil rights movement finally happened. Give us the legal rights available to have families and legally protect them, and you will hardly know gay people exist- unless you have a gay child, or you head to the gay bars to pick up a flamer or lesiban to supplement your mind-numbing sex life at home.

"LIBBY DID NOT REVEAL PLAME'S IDENTITY! It was Armitage."

Very true and Fitzgerald knew it all along. He knowingly and maliciously persecuted an innocent man because he wanted a Republican scalp and a jury of "useful idiots" gave it to him.

And "persecuted" is the intended word here because it is more accurate.

Cad man

I, for one, (and it may be the only "one" you will get on this post) appreciate your additional comments on the wonderful way the Democrats have put our country on the brink of insolvency.

What gripes me is that they unable to understand that our country has taken a long walk off a short pier and as we look down, all we see is the deep blue sea.

How is it that they do not see the same thing? What am I missing when you add up ALL the indebtedness of America and it is close to 70 trillion dollars? If liabililties exceed assets, isn't that the test for bankruptcy?

Ahh. Maybe they don't know what bankruptcy is?

Cad Man

Again, the TRUTH on the Plame game.

Nice post. Too bad Fitzgerald already had his mind made up BEFORE investigating ALL the evidence.

How about this: a new law firm of Fitzgerald and Nifong? They should do very well with each other.

The left hates Ann
because she's not afraid to punch them right in the face, unlike most Republicans. That's why I love her.

Bjorn R

Will you PUL-EZZZZZE go back to Medved's article and post on there and not foul up the posting on this one.

We are getting along absolutely great without you.

The problem with the RINOs who dominated the CPAC is that they are a bunch of pretenders to the Conservative party. Don't you get it?

The difference between a Democrat is that you guys are obsessed with taking control of government in order to control people's lives.

How do I know it? Look at what is going on in the educational field, the legal industry, the environmental people, the entertainment industry, and yes, even in corporate America.

In the famous words of John Stossel, "Give me a break!" What in hell do you want, the whole world? It sure appears to me that it has to be your way or no way.

As for the spineless RINOs who were on the platform at the CPAC convention, none of them will get my vote. At least there was SOMEONE there who had the guts to, "Call 'um as they see 'um"

What the platform the Conservatives run on seems to be nauseating to the Democrats. You know, things like smaller government, less indebtedness, protection of the 2nd Amendment, right to life, suppressing social deviants, stuff like that.

The Republicans lost the House and Senate last year because they became corrupted. They got caught up in the "glitz" of the National spotlight in D.C. and all the money the government is extracting from the tax-payers of our country. They wound up being the same spendthrifts the Democrats have been for decades.

Let me say it one more time. The Republicans deserved to be booted out of office. They didn't do what the Conservatives elected them to do. The RINOs at the CPAC are only going to do more of the same if any of them are elected in 2008. There will be NO change in spending policies or social policies if any of them are elected for president.

The Democrats will continue to do what they do best: take the country to h*ll in a hand basket and the RINOs will continue carry their water.

Three cheers for Ann!!! and for any other Conservative. (They can be identified as those having backbones.)

Blatant double standard
As is evidenced by the many posts by self-styled "liberals," which are full of name-calling and hate, it is these same so-called "liberals" who are the best at these two activities.

Ever since President Bush was elected, the so-called "liberals" have routinely villified him, calling him every foul name they can lay their tongue to, as they have done to the Vice President, and, for some of these haters, any and all Republicans, especially conservatives. That sort of verbal filth and abuse is considered by them, permissible free speech. Call the President worse than Hitler? That is acceptable. Express sorrow that an assassination attempt against the Vice President failed? That is acceptable, even admirable. Express a criticism of a Democrat? That is not to be tolerated. Make fun of any so-called "liberal," and, at the very least, you should be shot! How inexpressably jejeune!

Allen

As for your post of 6:54PM, truth has been escapable to the Liberals for a long time. You are merely caught up in the propaganda being spread by the so-called "virtuous" ones of the Democratic Party. It is you who are self-righteous and want to impose the standards of behavior for ALL people.

That is why Democrats choose politics as a career: it gives them the opportunity to control people. All you want to do is to get people to think your way and ONLY your way.

See my post of 3:32PM for additional enlightenment.

spiritof76

In your post of 7:37 PM, you are falling into the trap the Liberals want you in: silencing another conservative voice.

The Liberals have taken something out context and are trying to use it to their advantage. I hope you also read the posts on Medved's article and see how they are making a concerted effort to squash conservative speech. Even the RINOs at CPAC didn't have the guts to defend her right to say what she did.

Political Correctness HAS run amok!!!

Reason

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

The Conservative are NOT using the words for the purpose of expressing hate.

They are saying there is no place for sexual deviancy in a civilization if it is to continue to be a viable leader in the world. If you want us to be another European nation, that is your choice.

As for me, I prefer good values and morals for our Nation. Are you saying you have a problem with that?

Kimberly

What you don't seem to understand is that a Conservatives WILL gladly go over a cliff if that is what is necessary to hold on to their principles!!!

Oh, I forgot. The Democrats don't have any.

Bipsy Quee

On your post of 9:44PM regarding Amos 5:10, allow me to add a little commentary about it.

"One who reproves in court" refers to an honest judge, a champion of justice, A society is in trouble when those who try to do the right are hated by their commitment to justice. Any society that hates the truth is bent on destroying itself.

Hmmm. Why do I think of the Democrats when I read that Scripture?

Dear Sizzlelean
RE: "The left hates Ann because she's not afraid to punch them right in the face, unlike most Republicans. That's why I love her." And so do I for the same reason! May many more such blows be struck. A truly inspired post, Sizzlelean!

photogbill

Great post.

I don't recall seeing your moniker here before, but in case you don't know it, the Liberals who post here can't read that much at one time on a post.

Keep the sentences shorter and cut the post down to a couple of paragraphs to get it within their range of competence.

Sticks
and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Learned that when I was four years old and its been true ever since. Outrage at the use of language is a tool to be used by those who want to control others.

Reason

Regarding your 9:53 PM post, it could be all the names you mentioned were Republicans, not Conservatives.

Conservatives, many of whom have posted here today, are not into Political Correctness.

Maybe, after a while it will sink into the Demo's that there is a difference between the "R" and the "C". But, then, I really don't care if they get it or not.

What Coulter said was at a Conservative convention, not a Republican convention. None of the RINO's blathering at that "show" are going to get few if any votes from those Conservatives who stand up for its PRINCIPLES!!!

"Woe is the pregnant middle schooler who is confused why her boyfriend lied to her, saying that she wouldn't get pregant if he pulled out."

And this is relevant because...?
Maybe she's shamed in public or sent out of town where she has here baby in secret? What century are you from?

"Once gay people are no longer persecuted and killed for being who God made them to be, and treated like human beings like every American citizen should be, perhaps slurs heteros use to demean an entire group of people will not draw so much media attention or be such a big deal. But as long as these words incite evil behavior that results in needless death, their use by public figures should be the source of shame, firings, and oblivion."

You know, you're right. All those laws on the books requiring faggots to be beaten and lynched should be repealed. Faggots should no longer be required to ride in the back of the bus and should be allowed to drink from the same water fountains as everyone else. Furthermore, employers should be punished for descriminating against them, and landlords should no longer be allowed to descriminate either.

After that is accomplished, every straight person should be given a dictionary containing only the words approved in the presence of faggots. Disapproving looks or even looks conveying less than enthusiastic love for any faggot should bring a fine and a visit to a re-education camp.

If there is anything else you would like to add, just let me know.

Bjorn R

Has anyone ever told you how bad your spelling is? Its still not too late to go back to grammer school and pick up what you didn't learn then. BTW, watch it you do. Don't go out to the school yard at recess, you might hear a "dirty" word and you wouldn't want that, would you?

Bjorn F.
I don't mean to speak for Buck, but you're off-base with your pronouncement;

"It doesn't concern you one bit that you're equating millions of your fellow citizens with a heinous serial killer? Have you any limits in your viciousness? How far you are willing to go in defaming gay citizens? "

I believe that what Buck was trying to illustrate, and what Mr. Barber noted, in the article was the calculated use of the word propaganda by the homosexual community. I never considered that he was "equating...with a serial killer" -but it's strange that you did. "Viciousness" must run very deep within you.

What a relief!
Well said: I'm glad Ann is not alone in taking the Socialists advocates of Left verbal supremacy and double-speak:

. . ."It’s the left defining the terms, mind you. And it’s the left that further identifies who has permission to use those terms. Therefore, it’s only reasonable for them to apply that famous “progressive” double standard to Coulter. After all, she is a “hateful” conservative."

stratus

I hope more people will see your 12:57 PM post.

Without a doubt, that has got to receive the,"Over The Top" reward of the day.

With kind of diatribe, you may find Conservatives will be on the national scene a lot more than you would like.

Bjorn R

I would rather be in deep, deep sh*t with principles than running claiming virtuousness with a roll of toilet paper hanging around my neck. Why don't you guys wipe your mouth now and then?

Stalinist Trials coming. . .
To a town near you:

In Soviet Russia Zinoviev and Kamenev where put on trial for having improper thoughts.

Eventually they were executed. So was Trotsky

In Communist Cuba, Korea and Viet-Nam one can be turn into a non person for having "reactionary thoughts."

It seems the left envies Stalin, Castro, Le Duc Tho and Kim Jong Il for their power to regulate public language.

It is not rare for a communist cadre to have to go into rehab after taking the wrong side of the argument in a political discussion at the Politburo.

Given the histerical reaction to Ann Coulter comments; I wonder how long before we start having thought tribunals in this country?

Please read Dante's Inferno.

But
Barber slobbers:

"However, it would seem that African-Americans, who have truly experienced grave and systematic injustice over the years while struggling to obtain certain civil rights to which they were denied, might rightfully be offended by such a spurious comparison. "

Perhaps, but then when you point out the obvious that the people who use the two words intend the same amount of insult, to both gays and blacks his whole non-point blows away like a pile of feathers.

Predictable CWA slop
Anyone who knows anything about Concerned Women for America knows that the goal is to attack gays. If they have to defend the indefensible Coulter, well, they'll do it. Whatever it takes... CWA will be there with their tails wagging.

Life is grand…
for the left world, new-think crowd. They no longer have to gore conservatives. Conservatives are doing it for them. How many more columns and posts are we going to have to endure about Anne Coulter referring to what’s-his-name as a stick of fire wood.

Maybe we all ought to petition the art museum in Manchester, England to grab a magic marker and run over to that lovely painting by Thomas Gainsborough, cross out the offensive word so that the title reads, “Peasant girl gathering ‘sticks of firewood’ in the woods.”

My point is that much of society, including conservatives, have become so habituated to the endless repetition of new meanings, reserved meanings, or implied meanings by the special interest PC groups, that we are dancing to their every tune. People are offended by the phrase, “you people,” new made up names for groups, habits, activities, predilections, skin, color, appear on a daily basis, all in an effort to control what you say, how you say it, or even if you can say it all.

Give me break! I’ve worked with many homosexual men and women in my lifetime. They freely use the words, f*g, fa**ot, and que*r amongst themselves, almost as a badge of honor. If the men wish to continue to delude themselves that they are “happy,” or said women wish to think of their ancestors as being from the Isle of Lesbos, let them have at it. Or, if some young women want to act a licentious way, they'll still be gardening implements.

But please, PLEASE, PLEASE, stop buying into the foolish, manipulative, phony hurt feelings the moon bats are using to achieve the results these columns clearly manifest.

BTW, my first attempt to post these comment was rejected because it contained the words f*g and que*r.

NOTE TO TOWNHALL MODERATOR: Que*r simply means "different," as in not fitting the majority pattern. I'm going to have infer from this that the majority of the population is now homosexual.

?
Rowena, where have you worked where people use the words?

Reason

It wouldn't be necessary for the CWA to be in existence if it weren't for the Liberals desire to remove previously accepted values and morals from the public square.

You brought all this upon yourself and now you are complaining about it. Go figure!!

Sonny
Thanks for the comments on my 'long-winded' post!

I've been reading TH articles and the occasional comments sections for those articles for some time now...and only recently decided to join in on the fun. I'll try to keep my posts a little shorter for the 'liberally impaired', for now on! ;)...and I'll try and give my conservative cohorts a hand from time to time.

Please, people...Give me a break!
As with Ann, I'll damn well say anything I please, to whom, and when. And 95% of the time it's tactful and considerate.

But........ the left has no right to complain of anything that any one the right says, considering all of the filthy, sleazy, vicious comments they've made, including many members in Congress, about MY President.

All I've seen in the last 6 years, were right wingers acting like lambs while in a jungle of lefty vicious lions.

That being said, we on the right deserve every spit in our faces until we decided to get some spines adn realize that there are more important things in life than soap operas, American Idol, a 8-pack, and a sports game on TV. There's a reason why the term "ignorant masses" was coined. Or as someone else better than I once said: "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, for it tolls for thee."

Give me a break!
So the liberals are throwing a temper tantrum, squealing like stuck pigs, sreaming, pounding, flopping on the ground like a carp.

The liberals can dish it out, but they can't take it. Waa, Waa.

Perhaps if the lefties would shut THEIR hateful pie-hole, I would want Ann to tone it down. (Yea like THAT is ever going to happen).

Until then, go get'em Ann!

"What am I missing when you add up ALL the indebtedness of America and it is close to 70 trillion dollars? If liabililties exceed assets, isn't that the test for bankruptcy?"

I forgot to mention in my previous post that it was also on Wilson's watch that the Sixteenth Amendment became enshrined in the Constitution to authorize the federal income tax. Combining that with the Federal Reserve Act and I am reminded of a Churchill quote saying that trying to tax us into prosperity is like standing in a pail and trying to lift oneself up by the handle (wording approximate). US Rep. Charles Lindbergh Sr. is reported to have remarked that depressions would no longer be by accident but would be deliberately created.

While this was on Wilson's watch he doesn't seem to have been "watching" much; his skirt-chasing reportedly rivaled Clinton's and may have even surpassed it. :-)

O.K., I'll try it again. This is about the fifth time I have tried to tell you guys that there is a difference between a RINO and a Conservative.

RINOs are swayed by public opinion. Conservatives are not. We have ALWAYS been in the minority. We are too PRINCIPLED for most people who vote. When Reagan won it was because a lot of Independents and Southern Democrats went with him.

Most people vote with their pocket books. Conservative vote for principles like smaller government, less taxation, the right to life and the 2nd Amendment. We also support the right kind of values and morals and we do NOT care about political correctness.

You're blaming Reagan for something that only happened on his watch. You're calling him guilty by association. Wise up. You are acting like a Democrat has never gone to jail. There is not enough space on this post to name them all.

It isn't how many elections the Conservative win or don't win. If we don't win defending our principles, we don't lose, the country does.

stratus

Do you want to talk about all the people Clinton pardoned a few days before he left office?

Now, that was something that was absolutely dispicable.

Instead of saying what I would really like to say on this subject, just let say, "Isn't that like calling the kettle black?"

correction on 10:31 post

Change "dispicable: to "despicable".

Another correction on 10:31 post

Last line: "Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black".

A good word...
Faggot is a good word for a bully to use when he beats up the stupid looking kid with glasses on the playground and a great word to use in the locker room when it is finally time to whip the fat kid with wet towels. Never mind if he says he ain't one he is!

Coulter needs to be condemned
Think Coulter is funny? Or, a legitimate spokesperson for conservatism? If so, remember that there are millions like me out here. We are Independents who are tired of people who don't think for themselves but line up on one side or another on impulse or party loyalty and have little time for rational thinking. Too many let extremists think for them. No wonder America is so polarized! This applies to both extremes - left and right.

If Coulter represents conservatives in America they can count me out. She has no regard for ordinary decency, but loves to engage in smearing and slandering, trying to be funny. But she's ridiculous instead, and a very poor representative of legitimate conservatism. I presume she wants the attention - or money - or both.

My guess is that she loses more votes than she gains for the conservative cause. She would lose mine if she's invited to speak at such gatherings again. True, she's clever with words, but so is David Duke. So was A. Hitler and other kooks. We desperately need civility in this country, ordinary, everyday manners.

Keep smiling.

Here's The Straight Poop
Homosexuals are QUEeER. (The proper speling is disallowed by the uptight folks at TH.)

My little daughter is gay, sometimes.

Ann Coulter is my favorite iconoclast.

Conservatives who have a problem with her should just go sakahachi and STF.

Liberals are wimpy communists who would eagerly bring back the Killing Fields of Cambodia at the drop of a hat.

Forkem all.

Where is the neck
Matt Barber you are right, screw the politically correct word police.

BTW Matt Barber, your picture makes you look like a fat retard. ha ha ha ha, naw kidding, I meant a moronic fat faggot. ha ha ha ha, now really I agree Coulter is a sl#t, wh@%e and dumb b#%&h............ha ha ha. (Its really funny but I have to explain it in detail for you to get it.)

My point this adds nothing to intelligent debate and defending it is more of a waste of time, but really Matt what happened to your neck?

This is why both parties suck, but in particular the republicans are such huge hypocrites and lie and break law with reckless abandon and than deny it. .

Speaking of manly, the Army Pvt who was interviewed by Oreilly, Hannity and Mulkin, who all cuddled up him because he told a story of college kids calling him a baby killer on campus. News flash, he is a former Gay Porn star and male prostitute! Ha ha ha ha. There are a LOT of gay Republicans. Matt are you a faggot? Kidding, its a joke, because if I said it I'd have to go to rehab.

Some words don't need to be said in polite, civil and decent society. It is the right wing that is unhinged and out of control, but the left is not much better. Why everyone is not an independent I don't know. Ann Coulter is a Provocateur, an attentionwhore and shameless self promoting ego maniac. Some people are attracted to these crass bombastic personalities.

jetpilot
From your comments I'm just assuming NO ONE is attracted to you.

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge Why shouldn't conservatives hit modern liberals/progressives - often engaged in a veritable persecution of all those who prefer a different scope of view!(Carlton J. H. Hayes called them appropriately enough 'sectarian liberals')- with curses that they themselves had to endure for so many years.

No, conservatives should not apologize. To the contrary, they should hit those "Permissives" (a better description than "Progressives" for today's liberals any way) much more. Today's Liberals are spoiled crybabies. They have been getting their way in the major media for decades; never been inhibited in the slightest by moral considerations, especially when using offensive curses referring to conservatives and their policies (im my country I am called a cockroach).

Moreover, terms such 'racist' and 'xenophobe'are leftist establishment curse words. Not only are they false and unsavory to conservatives, but today's liberals can use these expletives - to describe conservatives - routinely, and..... they don't get called down for it by the major(of course leftist) media!

Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter touched on this in her last column, namely the attacks through the courts on Libby, Rush, DeLay, et al are akin to terrorism, intended to cow, well, Republicans. And to a great extent, succeed, as she notes instead of defense the Republican leadership either cowers, hoping they won't be noticed by the alligators, or they grab some rocks and start throwing stones themselves.

What is an independent?
Someone who looks at both sides of an issue and makes an intelligent choice? So when is "liberal" an intelligent choice? One instance. Anyone?

Earth to independents: Zell Miller is gone, and the Democrats would never elect Jack Kennedy today.

Would I try to reason with a charging bull, rather than be offensive and shoot it? Now there's some terminal intelligence.

My personal experience with independents has been that they cannot defend their position, so they do not take one, and that way they can criticize my position without having a position themselves to be critical of. (That's my experience.)

I would rather someone take a stand for what they believe, and if they make a mistake fess up to it, then you have my respect.

Having said that, I admit my voting for Bush twice was a huge mistake. Would I have prefered Kerry? NO. However, if our nation is going to be thrown down the toilet one piece at time by WHOEVER was president, then I would rather be able to blame the liberals instead of a RHINO passing himself off as a conservative.

I have been deceived, and I am angry about it.

Free Speech Rocks
Free speech is wonderful..we all have the same rights. Ann has the right to call people a fagg-t the same way Im allowed to say I wish Cheney would have been blown up in the bomb, Bushey would be shot, or Reagan was a drooling incontinent zombie in his dying days. Long live free speech.
