How Obama and McCain Keep Sister Souljah-ing the Wrong People

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

It was a pickle only John McCain could have gotten himself into.

What should have been a mostly uneventful weekend for McCain, two weeks before the increasingly ugly Democratic campaign culminates in a Carolina showdown, turned into a hurricane of bad press when the presumptive Republican nominee asked the state Republican Party not to run an anti-Obama ad targeted at North Carolina’s two Democratic gubernatorial candidates, both of whom endorsed Obama.

The ad, now quite familiar to anyone with a TV or radio suggested that Obama’s connection to Wright made him “too extreme” for North Carolina, and made Richard Moore and Bev Perdue too extreme by extension.

It was a mostly unremarkable ad, employing no more radical a line of attack than the Republican National Committee, now run by McCain’s own people, had been actively and openly hoping would resonate with voters into the general election. The N.C. GOP used the attack precisely because it is a legitimate issue that resonates with voters, even with regard to a candidate once removed from Wright. It was a validation of the GOP’s strategy, not a violation of it.

Then, in soared John McCain, determined to have his Sister Souljah moment at the expense of the wrong people. No one reminded him that effective Sister Souljah moments must repudiate extremists like Wright, not mainstream officials of your own party running rather benign ads.

In the most comically overblown denouncement of a campaign flush with repudiations, McCain called the N.C. GOP “out of touch with reality and the Party,” “dead wrong,” and suggested the ad introduced issues of “race” that were inappropriate, which it did not.

For his crusade, he earned himself no less than two and a half hours of bashing on Friday’s “Rush Limbaugh Show,” where the conservative host mocked the senator for teaching us all that being of independent mind is something to be prized above all else, except for when being a Maverick means ignoring the Maverick himself. “We’re all Independents now, Senator,” Limbaugh hooted during each call from an angry North Carolina Republican.

By Saturday morning, the McCain news e-mail list, which had previously delivered to my inbox no fewer than 50 Jeremiah Wright stories since the story broke, sent me the New York Times’ editorial that validated McCain’s new notion that mentioning Wright had become “shameful, ugly, race-baiting, and manipulative.” I half-expected the next news story to inform me that McCain had joined the call of Al Sharpton to “shut down” New York City in light of the Sean Bell verdict, so deep into the weeds of liberal racial demagoguery had he creeped. In classic style, McCain’s sense of “right” was the only sense of “right” acceptable in this incident, and it happened to be decidedly, err, left.

Yes, it was a pickle only the likes of John McCain could have gotten himself into.

Luckily, it was a pickle only the likes of Barack Obama could have gotten him out of.

Obama, apparently confused by the old adage “never murder your opponent when he’s busy committing suicide,” decided to offer rigorous first aid to the Arizona senator on “Fox News Sunday,” saying, “I think that people were legitimately offended by some of the comments that he had made in the past. The fact that he is my former pastor I think makes it a legitimate political issue.”

Our conservative candidate, up until then impervious to the arguments of the “out of touch” members of his own party, took Obama’s comments to heart, immediately adjusting his stance on the Wright issue to the default, logical, and historic position of his campaign and the RNC since the story broke:

“I believe that Senator Obama does not share those views. But Senator Obama himself says it’s a legitimate political issue so I would imagine that many other people would share that view and it will be in the arena,” McCain said in a Sunday media avail after the "Fox News Sunday" appearance by Obama.

At just the moment when both the Republican nominee and most of the big media, thanks to the sanction of the Republican nominee, had decided to leave the Wright issue well enough alone, to cast any mention thereof as inherently racist and illegitimate, Obama himself revived the issue. This strategic blunder came just a week after he pulled a John McCain by nullifying the national party’s key argument against his opponent in a town hall meeting: “Either Democrat would be better than John McCain – and all three of us would be better than George Bush,” he said.

Now the big media, thanks in part to the sanction of the savior of American politics, has no argument for downplaying Wright’s publicity tour of the NAACP, the National Press Club, and PBS, which has numerous pundits talking about the “sinking” of Obama’s campaign and Obama distancing himself from a man who Monday reiterated his assertion that Obama’s only repudiating him for political reasons and thinks Louis Farrakhan is “one of the most important voices” of the last century.

It’s becoming clearer every day that Uncle Jeremiah is the one who should have gotten that one-way ticket on the underside of the bus in Obama’s historic speech on race, instead of Obama’s grandma.

The fact that Obama had to repeat again today, “he does not speak for me. He does not speak for the campaign and so he may make statements in the future that don’t reflect my values or concerns,” has got to have Obama thinking he, too, used his Sister Souljah moment on the wrong person.

Though very different men, the unique strength of both McCain and Obama lies in reaching out to independents and moderates with a well-defined brand that says, “I’m not really one of them (the base).” Both are surprisingly successful at selling that image despite having some views on the Left and Right, respectively, that are far enough Left and Right on polarizing issues to be bothersom to independents.

In a general election, the GOP’s goal will be to illustrate to voters that Obama really is hard left, using his associations with the likes of Wright and Bill Ayers and his policies to paint. The goal of the Democrats has to be to make voters see a clone of Bush in McCain by playing up their association and shared positions.

For a week now, McCain and Obama have been committing gaffes that, by turns, undercut their principal arguments against their opponents and give sanction to their opponents’ arguments against them. Up next: McCain’s ‘You Know, Come to Think of it, I am Kinda Old,’ Tour

Perhaps it’s the pace and frequency with which these candidates of vaunted bipartisanship are asking others to repudiate, asking each other to denounce, and all the time wondering if they’re rejecting enough to remain “independent” that has them mixed up about just what’s worth apologizing for these days.

Now, if McCain as the more experienced campaigner, can combine his unique appeal to independents with the ability to stay on message, I believe we might be able to count on Obama choosing the wrong Sister Souljah moments all the way until November, and that’d be a pickle we'd be glad to be in.

McCain
This man man continues to show himself the arrogant fool.

Please John, do us a favor, get seriously ill for the next six months so we can get a real guy into the race.

Twit of the year contest
This is starting to become reminiscent of a Monty Python sketch. The winner is the last one to kill himself.

McLame is simply amazing and this
presidential race is a historical ground breaking phenomena. Come on all you history majors and fanatics lets do some research here. I am somewhat of a history buff and I cannot think of any election in our history where ALL of the candidates did their level best to lose. Can anyone else think of any time in history where the candidates were as stupid as this one?

Is this a product of the election finance laws, the idiot press, or general decline in the education of American citizens?

All 3 Vic
Never in history has this country been handed such a group of incompetent jerks as we have been given to choose from.

I choose NONE of the clowns, and will not be a part of any process that sees one of these idiots elected, Obama Hussein, Klinton or the clown McCain.

talent scout
It would be nice if we could get a national news org to do a poll to ask how many people are actually happy with the choices.

HYSTERICAL
Excellent summary of the last week in politics. I am in tears laughing. Too bad these guys are candidates for the most powerful position in the world. Let's have a do-over for both parties.

Chuck
Twit of the year indeed. Every time that I think "well, Hillary/Obama/McCain can kiss this election goodbye," one of the opponents steps in and resurrects his or her campaign by saying or doing something even stupider.

Don't Pick On McShame
He was just reaching across the aisle like he has done with Toad Kennedy and Feingold. Those are his friends. He would not have gotten any mileage at all if he merely said nothing. Now he is someone else's hero for being so bold as to say that Wright's violent message should not be repeated. Methinks that there is a McShame inner voice that starts the day with something like -- what can I do today that will get the camera before me or something that is unorthodox, weird and disturbing. But you gotta admit that once he started running for Prez, he found out his real inner truth about amnesty.

My humble opinion
In my humble opinion we now have a choice between two extreme socialists and a senile, self absorbed, idiot who may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

Is the problem that their handlers are fools or is it that the candidates aren't listening to their handlers and are being themselves?

In November it's not going to be who am I gong to vote for but who am I going to vote against.

Whatever the answer is, the stink of this election is going to be around for along time.

Mary
One of the reasons, that a second is required during parliamentary procedures, is to guard against "Insanity".In England, this has always been a concern. With the level of "Inbreeding" in America,it maybe time to add some more safeguards, to eliminate the possibility of insanity here as well.Tell the family hello.

"Fraud" Robert writes:
"The far right is morally bankrupt...their only mark of success is "how negative you went"."

Spoken like a good & true leftist, which Robert is, despite his faux support of McCain.

Hey Robert, are you an active duty Captain in the United States Navy?

I love it when Chuckles posts

such inane comments...

Then everyone surely understands, without a doubt, that Chuckles is just clowning around and in no way anything that he claims to be, and all these fantastic fairy tales are just that, fairy tales.

Who's running McLame's campaign?
When I heard him denouncing the Republican ad in NC, my first thought was: that's the kind of ad McLame ought to be running? How stupid is this guy? I watched the candidates for sheriff of a small town in NM once give their stump speech. One of the candidates actually said that the other candidates would make a better sheriff, but vote for me. He lost. Reminds me now a lot of this election. McCain needs to stop lauding the other side; he needs to tell us why he's better. Or, same result as sheriff election.

It isn't funny.
I refuse to believe that these three represent the best America has to offer. It isn't funny. The whole world depends on us to vote for a somewhat competent president. All 3 should do us a favor and be quiet and/or quit. I still don't understand how the Republican Party came up with McCain. Does it have something to do with the power of the (social conservative haters) in the party?

"Fraud" Robert's...
... McCain "support" is nothing more than another opportunity to bash George Bush or Reagan Conservatives.

Notice he never opines on why anyone should vote FOR McCain?

And his constant and continuous sin of breaking Reagan's 11th Commandment shows how much he REALLY loved Ronaldus.

A McCain misstep...
... but a minor one. So far, he's done a brilliant job of triangulation, scowling at the conservatives who are going to vote for him anyway so he can win over moderates. Rush's jumping on him makes me wonder when McCain will take his next step and "condemn" Rush for his "troubling" comments about rioting yobs in Denver.
The hard truth is that conservatives have had nothing worth selling this year. Does "Duncan Hunter is gonna get traction any minute now, just you wait," sound familiar?
The only problem I see here is fundraising. McCain may be able to win votes with a "vote for the responsible old white guy" tack, but it doesn't bring in campaign money, the mother's milk of politics.

McCain's Analysis
I think we need to know why McCain thought the ad was racist. Please, someone from the Senator's staff enlighten us on why this was a racist ad.

McCain
I think this election is about just how much Liberalism we want and the fact that McCain is running about telling everyone that he is a conservative is at best absurd

King Liberal
Yes I know that to blacks in general, of the inner city type, Wright has the right attitude. (Note that I refuse to call him a reverend because what he is preaching is not religion and his church is not a real church.) To Wright and his followers every problem that inner city blacks have is due to whitey. I listened to his rant about placing the slave chains on blacks and the HIV cr*p. There has been no slavery in this country since 1865 therefore not only is there no blacks in this country who have ever been a slave, but there are no blacks in this country who have ever known anybody who has been a slave. The HIV rant is just so insane it indicates he should be locked up along with the idiot Truthers.

But if you think that that kind of cr*p doesn’t impact the average white liberal voter then you are just about as crazy as Wright. You can look at what happened in PA and tell that it hurt O’Vomit who had been closing in on Shrillary. The more Wright opens his trap the worse off O’Vomit will do in States that do not have a large black population.

And I have some news for you, if O’Vomit gets the nomination than you can welcome Mclame into the Whitehouse because the only States O’Vomit will have a chance to win will be in the South. He may get a few (very few) because large blocks of conservatives will either stay at home or vote 3rd party but he will not get enough to matter. The liberals will vote for McLame in the big Northern States and in States like GA and FL which have become an extension of the North.

Don't know politics very well?
King Lib, who keeps wandering into my sights this morning, apparently doesn't know politics very well. Here's what he says about the November election:

"The Wright controversy doesn't matter to liberals or democrats or independents-only the conservatives who weren't ging to vote for him anyway are making this an issue. Just like you guys did to Romney."

A) Doesn't matter to independents? Ooops, I think maybe you'd better consult the PA exit polls again.

B) Doesn't matter to democrats? Ooops, I think maybe you'd better consult Gov Rendell in PA, and the PA exit polls again.

C) If the election is between Obama and McCain, the subject will be experience. Obama's "hope" and "change" rhetoric will have no traction against McCain, and the continuing storm about Obama's associations will make him look amateurish.

D) If the election is between Hillary and McCain, the blacks are going to stay home in droves. If you think the Democrat will get the normal black vote after fat, white Democrats steal the nomination from Obama from the smoke-filled convention back rooms, you haven't thought this through.

The biggest problem Republicans have is, what's are they going to do in 2012 after McCain has f***ed up the country? He's not going to be a very good President. He'll be a rerun of the Ford presidency.

(Unrelated to this topic, please visit my political blog, "Plumb Bob Blog: Squaring the Culture," at http://www.plumbbobblog.com. Thanks.)

The Good Looking Chuck
I have changed my Handle, to not be confused with the not so good looking, but still highly intelligent "Chuck's" who post here.

I Voted early last Friday in NC for Mr. Alan Keyes.

At least NC has some Conservatives left in the Republican Party.

I guess I'm out of touch with Mr. McCain's Republican Party.

I can't wait to see how the GOP reacts, when he selects Joe Liberalman as his running mate!

My fault?
I have been scolded on other sites that it would be MY fault if Obama or Hillary wins because I (and those of my mindset) refuse to vote for McCain!

Let me set this straight: If McCain loses, it is McCain's fault. It should not even be close with the clown or shrew as an opponent. The fact that polls show a close race is light on McCain's campaign, no ME!

The process enabled Dems and Libs to nominate the GOP candidate, just like it has allowed Operation Chaos to jumble the Dem primaries.

When the GOP gives me a (mostly) conservative candidate, with (mostly) good character and personality, I will vote for him/her. Until then, I look for a third option to vote for, no matter what the polls say.

Mary Kate
"... instead of Obama’s grandma."

Not to pick on you darling, but I've heard so many on TH decry Obama for mentioning that his grandmother had her own personal prejudices, yet he does not disown her. How did he throw her "under the bus"? Exactly what is wrong with my telling the truth? Exactly who are we to tell Obama what he can or cannot say about his own family? Or is it that Obama talked about his grandma who happens to be white?

I mean, my white grandfather was a anti-semite and prejudiced. My white great grandfather hated African Americans all his life until he got a wake up call! Some of my own white cousins who are on TANF actually still believe I am inferior to them based on my race!!

Yes, they were stupid bigots in various ways who said far worse things than Rev. Wright. However, I can't excise them from my family tree andDNA makeup. I still love them (not my hick/redneck cousins so much!). If that's throwing them "under the bus", then so be it!

King Liberal
100 years, waagh. Too bad. There has now been 50 years of discrimination favoring blacks. Blacks should be listening to Bill Cosby and not people like Wright. The facts are that as long as you blame whitey for your problems you are never going anywhere.

Iowa went for O'Vomit before he was exposed as anything more than "articulate".

As long as O'Vomit is tied to people like Wright and Ayres it will kill him with the average voter. And this "out of context" refrane is so much BS. I listened to the speach and I listened to the answer to the speech the other day. Wright couldn't have shot O'Vomit in the foot any worse. Perhaps ya'll should be investigating who is paying off Wright to keep up the dirty work.

As things stand right now, the best thing the Commiecrat Party could do would be for the superdelegates to go behind closed doors and nominate someone like Sam Nunn. He would probably win in a 50 State landslide.

Ralph Elison
"Yes, they were stupid bigots in various ways.."

Would it be better if they were intelligent, thoughtful bigots?

Aynrand
I think the reason he's been attacking Republicans who go after Obama is because he's got mark McKinnon as campaign advisor who just looooovees Obama and has said he couldn't stay with a campaign that maligns Obama. So, there ya go. McDimwit shows more loyalty to that mole than he does to his own party or to the people he should be supporting. Remember Mark McKinnon
Mark McKinnon..it's all you need to remember when McC causes his next Sistah Soljah moment.

If this upside down, insideout election cycle isn't the judgement of God on this country, I don't know what is.

This Election Is THE Reason
"None of the Above"
SHOULD BE but NEVER WILL BE on the ballot!

For God And Country
W/O=

Obama Is Toast
Thats the good news. The Right Reverend Wright has probably torpedoed Obama permanently, his weak prevarications notwithstanding.
The bad news is that the feeble, gaffe-prone and totally unlikable McLame is also probably unelectable. His attack on the hated Republicans has backfired so phenominally that even Obama was heard to remark that the ad in question was legitimate. Could he look more foolish as he was ignored by the NC Reps as they took in a tidal wave of cash from angry conservatives? He exposed himself to hours of ridicule on talk radio. It all underlines his unfitness for any high office.
So now we are faced with the universally loathed, demonstrably incompetent, sleaze-covered Hillary who now has a clear shot at the nomination and the presidency. A Pyrrhic Victory.
She will be handed a situation that she is utterly incapable of dealing with and which will complete the destruction of the Clintons which this endless campaign has begun. Hail to the Chiefess!

RW
"Would it be better if they were intelligent, thoughtful bigots"

LMAO! That was funny! You know, I realized a long time ago that nobody is perfect except Jesus Christ. I love my grandfather and miss him dearly (especially at basbeall games), but he wasn't perfect and just hated Jews of all ilk. Man he would have thown a tissy when I voted for Gore/Lieberman back in 2000.

Again, nobody's perfect.

At least the 3 Stooges
Was intentional slapstick!

Here we have Jerry Wright setting IEDs along Prince Obama's road to the WH...
While Johnny Mac is trying hard to figure out just how it is one uses a suicide belt.

Folks IF we are not VERY careful, Madame Komrade Klinton will alter the Bosnia Sniper Story to say something like - "The ONLY part I got wrong was the 'hunched over and running part'!! There WERE snipers and I was braving enemy fire with my head held high DARING them to hit me!!!"

Sadly, there will be those who would believe her!

W/O=

Does the GOP Want To Win?

It's really up to Sen. McCain. If he wants our votes, he has to earn them.

He said he heard us after the last amnesty fight. He heard two things right. We want the border secured and we don't trust them. There apparently was alot he didn't hear.

He hired Juan Hernandez, who represents foreign nationals illegally in our country as his hispanic outreach, instead of reaching out to someone from "You Don't Speak For Me" a group of citizens of hispanic descent who oppose illegal aliens.

He said a couple of weeks ago he would sign McCain/Kennedy if it were put on his desk.

If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do.
1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands.
2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats.
3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill.
4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.

It's up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.

I will not vote for the latter.

No Border Security/No National Security

You simply CANNOT have national security if you will not defend your own borders or enforce your own laws. Foreign nationals numbering in the thousands are entering our country at will daily. John McCain has done and will do NOTHING to stop it. Don't believe me? Ask Juan Hernandez!

This Will Be
Determined ONLY when the last gaffe has been uttered!

Maybe a good strategy for one of them would be to NOT go out onto the campaign trail, NOT give interviews, NOT do ANYTHING a normal campaign calls for.
Just sit back and let your opponent(s) self-destruct!
Seems to be working already - No?

W/O=

actually my take
is that the publicity hound wright has turned into will help obama because the more people see of wright the more they realize he is a little loopy and like reagan and falwell and mccain and hagee it is obvious that wright speaks only for himself and not for obama.

i could be wrong but i don't think so.

this is actually a positive election for liberals like myself who are moderate leaning left.

whether clinton, obama or mccain win there will be little difference in the way they govern other than the fact that dems. may have a veto proof majority in congress and if mccain wins he will be able to stack the court.

other than that there is very little difference between them.

Constant Input
from Robert, King Liberal and a few others has rendered the comment section of most of Townhall a waste. Sad. Only thing I'm learning from them is how much stupidity has to say.

Democrat
Mark McKinnon is on McCain's campaign, he's a democrat..go figure. And has said that he couldn't stick with a campaign that maligns Obama. I think that answers a lot of questions.

SHHHHHHHH. . . .
Come on, McCain is an republican April fools joke. . .right? A joke gone bad because he wont go away. Kind of like having a piece of tape stuck on your finger and you can't shake it off.

Why can't McCain just keep his mouth shut from now till November, then come out and remind us his the republican candidate. Nothing more. . . .because every time he tries to tell us more he puts us down and insults us. Can someone please tell him to sit down and shut up?

Never, EVER willing to admit wrong
See, this is the reason why we still have the racial stife in our country. This is why the Jesse Jackson's and Al Sharpton's of the world still have the following that they do.

Those on the right NEVER admit that our country has EVER done anything wrong. It could be the Indians, slavery, police brutality, Tuskegee, segregation, denying votes to women and minorities etc. Doesn't matter. They will never admit any faults of the gov't. When these issues come up, they'll just say "hey, that's the past, everything is good now". Nevermind the fact that a black guy was gunned downed by cops in a rain of gunfire and the cops were let off w/o incident. They just say "he got what he deserved".

The whole time, they never see any wrong. They just don't get it.

God will be the judge.

ram
Our country has done plenty wrong and I will admit it:

1. We elected FDR and started turning into communists.

2. We elected LBJ and started becoming communist crooks.

3. We elected Bill Klinton and started becoming communist liars.

After all of that litany of wrongful actions I am surprised we have a country left.

Looking back and never forward
Is your problem, and all who bring up by gone days of history and lie about it all.
Every thing you name was addressed, and it is never off the table when talking about politics in America from such as you

Everything you bring up from the past has been addressed over and over and over again and again and again.
When will you wake up and see we do not have slavery any longer cause it was addressed years ago?
When are people like you going to look to the future and give credit to this country that is has addressed such issues?
You are not are you, so you are like a stump in the field of corn, and must be worked around.

Remember what happened and what He said about Lot's wife?

Stop looking backwards and look forward and your vision will clear up some.

Learning about right and wrong
Everyone one of us learn, beginning when we lose the innocence of childhood.
If a person never forgives himself over some error he has made in judgment or deed, and stays focused with all thoughts on his failures, he will become depressed.
Even to the point of suicide.

The same thing works on a Nation.
If a nation never forgives itself for errors of judgment or deeds, and consistently keeps it as the topic, it destroys hope, and works to depress just as it works on an individual.

Its National Suicide to never forgive the mistakes of the past.

Slavery was addressed, and paid for in the blood of a Million people, counting civilians and military deaths.

Institutional racism of Jim Crow Law was addressed, and removed, condemned and abolished.

The right to vote called suffrage was addressed long ago, and women have been voting for many years now.

For every wrong the Law Enforcement Officers do, there is 10,000 things they do Right and do not get credit.

I am an American Native, so called, and have the Blood of Cherokee Ancestors, whose land was stolen from them and then compelled to leave their homes and travel across a wilderness in winter that thousands died in the process.

But since I can change nothing about the past, I must FORGIVE IT TO GO FORWARD.

There is no virtue in looking BACKWARDS AND MOANING AND GROANING OVER PAST HISTORY.

Forgiveness for sin is the only solution, not vengeance and condemnation as so may people are doing today.
And they never give anyone any credit for anything at all over ones politics.

That is insanity, its madness and brings nothing but more trouble.

Too bad that Mary K. supports McCain,
but then again, she is part of the elite media that always support the two major parties. Her choice happens to be the GOP, oh well.

There are fortunately, still enough of us who will no longer support the new Democrat party. That is what the GOP has become, adopting the liberal positions of any good 70's - 80's liberal. The Dems of course, have gone all the way to the far left and have signed onto the Euro-Socialist agenda. That political model, once sold as a oil and coal co-operative was designed to be the precursor of the new world order/one world government socialist utopia.

We have now reached the point where we can see what the elites are offering us this election. good old fashioned liberalism or radical left socialism. This is what we are in store for if we once again vote the lesser of two evils, hoping that this time we will get a different result. Ridiculous to say the least.

If you are actually tired of this nonsense and ready to take action, then we have another option. We can support Frank McEnulty of the New American Independent Party. Frank has a good understanding of the issues and the necessary character and intelligence to assume the Presidency.

What value is there in continuing to rehash over and over the failings of the three elite candidates presented to us by the DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines. We know what they will give us, more big govt. declining personal feedom, and more influence to the internationalists who hate America.

If you understand that we need to begin now to get behind a candidate, we need to now start organizing and securing the ballot access, then I urge you to visit Frank McEnulty's website, FRANKFORPRESIDENT.ORG.

Check it out, see what he has to say, and then let's start working toward reclaiming the inheritance the elites have stolen from us. If this isn't the time, when is it going to be so? Thanks, Joe

Admitting wrong is the first step of rehabilitation. I just don't see how America or those who have maintained power for generations have EVER admitted to any wrongdoing. Liberals probably try to over compensate because they want to take the country into socialism/communism. But, conservatives will never admit to wrong especially in the heat of the fight.

Now a half a century later, it is easy to see the simplicity of the requests of those who were oppressed. But, when it's going on, they'll never admit to it.

What was the "everyday conservatives/Republican's" reaction to the Sean Bell issue in New York? They yawned. They still don't see why people are making a big deal out of this case. History will tell a much different story. Then you'll hear how everybody was disturbed by the case.

Guess it's time to rethink the campaign
That would be the NRE Spring Hill campaign portion of Operation Chaos. In my more-cynical moments, I find myself wondering if we've all been played.

The only fortunate thing, at least assuming that Hillary Clinton isn't the master manipulator her husband is, is she continues to display a tin ear. $2.3 billion in earmarks? That's a fat, hanging curveball at the waist over the middle of the plate in Coors Field pre-humidor.

America has admitted its wrongs

You understand what the Grace of God means?
Its undeserved favor.
It takes Grace to be able to forgive people who do not even know they are doing you wrong.
I see that you believe in the Lord, so allow Him to speak to you about this.
You must be able to forgive, not only for those who repent to you, but to those who will never repent to keep vengeance out of your own heart.
Which does not belong to you.
Vengeance is owned by the Lord, and He has stated plainly He will not share that with any man.

You must accept God's Judgments, even if you think they are slack, they are not slack.
You must trust Him with all the wrongs in the world to correct as it is out of our power to do so.
We are limited in what we can do, and none of us can change one simple thing of the past, so forgive it and move forward.
Without condemning innocent people today who cannot change history of the world any more than you can.
You do have power to forgive sins, use it.

operation chaos was to get republicans to vote in the democratic primary to extend the campaign.

unintended consequences

1 million americans have registered as democrats.
75% of those are registering to vote for the first time so they were not republicans switching over these are NEW voters.

the excitement of an extended campaign has kept obama and clinton in the spotlight while mccain literally wanders in the shadows.

it has made both clinton and obama better campaigners for the fall.

anything that the republicans could use against either of them has come out and they will be able to call it old news and have effective responses.

Agreed on God's grace. Surely, he has the ability to forgive our sins, even the ones that we haven't fully made amends for. Surely, I accept God's judgement as I know he is all powerful and everything goes according to his will. As an entrepreneur, I am frequently disappointed and many times use my knowledge of God's will and nature to help me through tough times that I don't always understand.

However, I also believe that we have to do everything possible to mirror God's image both physically and spiritually. Jesus said "Be ye therefore perfect!"

Unfortunately, I think that many people use your view to escape worldly responsibilites and obligations. They believe that they'll be forgiven for all sins, so there's really no reason to do the right thing on this earth. "Hey, I accepted Jesus as a teenager so I can do as I please down here. I can treat anybody any kind of way. It will all be cleared up upon my death There's not even reason to apologize for obvious sins that I've inflicted on others or to change my behaviour. I'm already saved!!!"

That rationale is very assumptive and pretty arrogant.

If I were a 'Rat politician with a heap of skeletons in my closet, I would rather have them remain buried than come out even this far out from the election. Rush knew full well that, without an extension of the campaign, what you libs will call "old news" in October wouldn't receive so much as a first airing in October.

Given the lack of skills displayed by both Clinton and Obama, maybe they would've been better off not "sharpening" their skills. From where I sit, those wounds are as much self-inflicted as they are inflicted by the immediate opposition.

The lesson of Lot's wife
Is lost on all who look backwards and not forwards.
They are frozen in time and are spiritual blocks of salt.
Just exactly like Lot's wife was judged as an example for all men what happens to their minds by always looking back.

If one looked back to learn, as it takes to look back at Lot's wife, then it is good, and not evil to do.

So even looking back to see if it is good or bad will depend on what is the motivation of the individual who looks back.

When a person like R.A.M. looks back, he looks back to find something to condemn, cause he himself is condemned and does not know it,or appears to not know it.

If a persons motive is to condemn and accuse others of their faults he thinks they own, his own motive makes him a miserable person to be around.
Who among us needs someone like this around to always point his finger at you and want to find you guilty of some crime, even if its a crime of the past you have no power to change?

His own attitude is his biggest problem, and he is frozen in time just like Lot's wife was.

To McCain: Shut Up Or I Vote Hillary
McAmnesty should leave the sanctomonious lecturing to his friend Jimmah Cawtuh. Someone should remind McLame that if it wasn't for the Huckabee anti-mormon born-again bigots, a much better man would now be the nominee - Mitt Romney. Where does McCain get off claiming to be the party leader? He's the maverick. So, maverick your way over to the corner, sit down, and shut up. I just sent $10 to the North Carolina Republicans and I think every conservative should do the same, if only to show McLame that he isn't going to get away with this crap. As bad as Bush is, he doesn't pull the holier-than-thou routine that McA-hole uses consistently.

You asked:

I am somewhat of a history buff and I cannot think of any election in our history where ALL of the candidates did their level best to lose.

I am not sure about all of them, but in 1844 sitting President Tyler was actually expelled from his own party (the Whigs) and had to run on a third party ticket.

Worst of all, he was simply ignored by the press and pretty much everyone else.

He also pretty much handed the election to the Democrats by focusing the election on the annexation of Texas.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but fun to see a sitting president not only kicked out of his own party, but raising the very issue that hands the election to the other side.

If you read my last post, you will see that it is forward thinking. My point is that many people think they can skate through life treating others as they please w/o fear of recourse either now or in the afterlife.

You are wrong about my perspective. I clearly see the benefits and opportunities that my country have given me and the drastic improvements that have been made over the last few generations.

However, I am also a student of history and know where I came from. I still think there is plenty of work to be done in this country to be "perfect" as instructed.

I'm optimistic. Just not naive and clearly not blind.

The Ministry of Condemnation, Satanic
It is not God's Spirit to condemn men, it is from Satan himself and his spirit.

Jesus Christ came to give LIFE, and life is found in the Grace of God, not doctrines of men.

So many doctrines today, and none of them are any good if they do not establish the Grace of God in your own heart and mind.

We live in the perilous times the Bible speaks to, when men would give heed to doctrines of devils and seducing spirits.
Men like Obama's pastor preach satans gospel of condemnation.
Satan is the accuser of men, not God.
God wants all men to enjoy life, so He sent Jesus Christ into the world, NOT TO IMPUTE MENS SINS, BUT TO FORGIVE MEN'S SINS.

The Law came by Moses, Grace and Truth by Jesus Christ.
The Ministry of Jesus Christ is the RECONCILATION BETWEEN GOD AND MEN.
Not IMPUTING SIN, but FORGIVNG SIN.

Satan is the accuser and the fault finder, the scorner, the mocker, the god of this world, and has many disciples preaching his hate filled gospel.
All the so called preachers who point their fingers to cast blame and hold others to their sins, are the workers of iniquity, and it matters not if they do this right in the church house.
Satan is a church goer himself.
Like Solomon said:
" I went into the place of Righteousness, and BEHOLD, evil was there"

Unless a man preaches a the mercy and forgiveness of sins, he is a worker of satan, and NOT GOD.
He is a liar, a false prophet, an enemy of God.

The Grace of God is still available for a little while yet, and will forgive men of sins.
Even the sins of the past none of us can change, only use for satans purpose to condemn men, like Wright and such evil men do.

Andrews
I think Tyler’s case was special. He was the first VP to assume the office of the presidency and at that time it was not clear in the Constitution that this was the intent. He was referred to as the “acting” president and ignored through most of his term. As for being ejected from the Whig Party he opposed the Whigs on nearly every issue they advanced, LOL he sounds like Mclame and the Republicans.

Actually, I found a better one, an election more similar to today's. Not in the endless gaffe department, but in the completely unsuitable candidates department.

In 1848, the Whigs nominated war hero Taylor, who not only held no Whig beliefs, but was a hero of a war the party opposed.

Meanwhile the Democrats nominated a northerner (Cass) who was largely silent on slavery.

Only the Free Soil party actually nominated someone who fit their party base.

So, McCain is hardly unique in not fitting his party.

Andrews
I thought your Tyler example fit McLame pretty good. The biggest difference is that today the rest of the Party is modeling themselves after Mclame. So, instead of disappearing like the Whigs, the Repuiblicans will morph into the Democraps and become known as the Republicrats.

Gee, haven't we been calling them that already?

Talent Scout, that's a bailout
Basically, you share the opinion that I mentioned earlier. People can do whatever they please to anyone they choose. It doesn't matter, Jesus (not God himself) will blanketly forgive us later on. Doesn't matter if you rape, rob, steal and murder. A good statement of acceptance at any point in your life will clear you of any wrong doing going forward regardless of intent, severity or passions.

Even if you do disregard the past, what happens when bad things continue to happen? I understand forgiveness, but should we also conveniently forget? Or, are we supposed to do whatever we can to make things better for the next person or generation that follows us?

BTW, can you show me in the Bible where it says that "Jesus" will judge us? For some reason, Jesus himself seems to point at "my father", "your father", "our God", "your Creator" etc. When speaking of God, he always talks in 3rd person, not first person. Is this just a grammatical/translation error?

The real culprit, that is somehow avoiding the spotlight, is not the three (3) candidates, as mixed in their qualifications as they may be, but a FAILED political process that cannot produce a genuine dialogue of the very serious issues that are facing this country, or a candidate of unblemished and proven integrity to run for the highest office in the land. McCain for socialized medicine!

Give me a break. There is NO WAY I can stand to pull the lever for this nutcase. Face it, McCain is a crank who will probably make W. look conservative. I have tried to believe otherwise but cannot.

Congratulations, President McCain!
As a lifelong liberal Democrat, I'd like to extend my congratulations to John McCain on his successful bid to become President of the United States.

Barack Obama began an epoch-making campaign that managed, for a number of months, to keep race out of this year's election politics. Then it seemed as if Obama and the Clintons worked together, displaying a shared incompetence previously equaled only by John Kerry, to make sure that race became an enormous campaign issue.

I can hardly blame Republicans for seizing the opportunity to capitalize on the race isue. McCain's inept response to the ad discussed in this column is something that, surely, his handlers will persuade him not to repeat. Republicans will be able to persuade many Americans that the black candidate Obama is as scary as the black reverend Wright, and that many Democratic candidates, because they endorse Obama, should be regarded as pretty scary too.

Republicans will benefit from going really negative from this point on, and I fully expect them to do so. They have the scent of blood now, and will, velociraptor-like, converge to destroy Obama. Then, regardless of who actually gets the Democratic nomination, McCain will be able to count on millions of defecting Democrats, who won't let the door hit them in the behind as they flee the part of lunatics to vote for McCain.

So, I hope President McCain won't make as big a mess as Bush 43. He'd have to really try hard to do that, but he is, after all, a Republican, so there's always that possibility.

More of the same

he would be supporting and stumping for Obama , plain ole truth.

I just hope and pray no one is actually giving this clown any donations. I would bet the NC GOP got more money donated to them the very second people heard Mcclown hated the message and ad.

There are no good choices this year at all , mccain for 4 years and send up enough real conservatives to block all that he wants besides a judge or two and thats all we can hope for folks.

Block his global gore style 50 cent tax on gas
Block his 60 new alien american package
Block his reaching across the to the dems
Block his veto agasint us actually drilling for our own damn oil in the US
Block everything and from day one call it a lame duck president.

Thats all I can think of to do , well you will have to do because theres no way in Hell I could actually vote for him so you vote him in and I will vote for real conservatives , heck were in Idaho its mainly all we send up besides bathroom bob LOL

In fact, consider the bosos that the Dems have picked to run for POTUS for the last forty years: Hubert Humphry, George McGovern, Jimmy Carter (twice), Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis (the ultimate dufus), Willy The Wagger (twice), Al ("I invented The Internet") Gore, John "Can I get me a huntin' license here" Kerry, and now two halfwits who each hold diametrically opposed views OF THEIR OWN POLICIES. (For example, Hillary promises to create thousands of new, good paying jobs by punishing American corporations by raising taxes on them.)

Not that the Republicans have done much better. Every POTUS since Richard Nixon has taxed and spent like a drunken Democrat, and we're going to pay the piper VERY soon. John
Become a democ-rat so we can nominate someone worthy of being elected President.

Wright's church
should have been built as a mosque.

New Hope
If it were the answer just to shut up the newsmedia, I would wish this election over.
I am sick and tired of everytime I turn on the news, I am bombed with Obama & Hilliary & will be in the days to come, John McCain.
Someone out there please take note: "I don't like any of the three!!! So, I am going to vote for the Dr. Chuck Baldwin/ Darrell Cross Constitution Party candidates. I want to see a real change in Washington. A change back to running this country by the Constitution.

John Mc holier than thou
Johns' wiring is really screwed up. He is the essential narcissist. Everything he thinks is wonderful, actually, more wonderful than whatever anyone else is thinking. He is just above everyone. People criticized Bush for listening to God. McCain listens to God as well... when he talks to himself!

Whether or not
you vote for one of the Terrible Trio, do not sit out this election!!! We need a solid majority of conservatives in the House and Senate to keep them from doing anything like tax increases and perpetuating Algore's globullsh warming hoax.

Rondack, & Ron
YOu guys are not alone. None of us, who are fed up, is alone. We need to act together to elect Ron Paul, Champion of the Constitution. Let's take back our government and evict the lying traitorous career politicians who all have united against the common enemy - the people of the United States.

The Odd Couple
Regardless of who wins the election in November there will be a de-facto Democrat in the White House come January. So I suggest McCain and Obama join-up to run against Hillary, to keep the Clinton's from getting their hands on the cookie jar again.

Then all we have to figure out is who's Oscar and who's Felix for the next four years!

Gunner
No...not Oscar and Felix.

More like Dumb and Dumber

McCain would be toast
if he wasn't running against Obama and Clinton.

His problem is being neither a real democrat or a real republican; he has no central philosophy guiding him. He views his best and most comfortable moments when he is an outsider. Therefore he is against someone or something rather then for anything.

What is his central thought or theme? We know he is strong on defense and against gitmo and torture. What other passion directs him?

HILLARY THE BENEFICIARY OF TWO JERKS

.....With Jeremiah Wright pulling down Obama's numbers and McLame ticking off Conservatives by biting the hand that feeds him ...Hillary's numbers are going up in the National Polls ...

.....Maybe it is time for the Commander of Operation Chaos to muster his troops to start voting for Obama in the Primaries .....COLOSSUS

THE PRESIDENCY IS LOST

.....Conservatives need to elect Conservatives to Congress and the Senate to minimize the damage a flawed President might do .....COLOSSUS

Thank you. Your faithful responses are an inspiration and as a new Christian, I often find exactly what I'm struggling with mirrored and answered for me in your wonderful posts. Your post of Tuesday, April, 29, 2008 12:29 PM was one such example. It spoke directly to me. Thank you. (I'm beginning to call these things God winks)!

Apologize
I think if I see or hear the word "apologize one more time in this campaign I will Vomit! And, then of course I would have to "apologize" to anyone unfortunate enough to be around me when I do so.

Death to PC before it is the death of this nation.

NO and you can't make us 8-P

Oneness of God
John 17 - Read that several times to understand what kind of oneness Jesus is referring to. We are the body of Christ, and while we are supposed to become one in unity and purpose, we remain separate beings.

Acts 7:56 - Stephen sees Jesus standing at the right hand of God. He doesn't see one person, he sees two.

Genesis 1:26
Genesis 5:1-3

Both are clearly speaking in literal, physical terms. Notice the 'us.'

Philippians 3:21 - Made in God's image and likeness.

And saying 'God is a Spirit' doesn't preclude He also has a body. We too are spirits, but also have bodies.

Heb 1:3 - Jesus is the 'express image' of His person.

We are the children of God. Not adopted pets of a different species. The Holy Spirit is the personage of Spirit only, and notice how He's called just that.

The three are all members of the Godhead, but are separate and distict beings.

Nowhere in the Bible is it said that 'there is no division of substance'... that came from a council of men who voted on the nature of God several hundred years after the apostasy set in. Early Christians believed in three separate beings. The Trinity doctrine is heavily influenced by Plato and Hellenistic views.

John McCain
John has my lifelong gratitude for his military service and heroism.
He has been, however, a disappointment as Senator and, I fear, will be a nightmare as POTUS.
The real dilemma, though, is that he's head and shoulders better for the U.S. than the other two twits!
Afraid in Arizona.

McCain and the Obama Advertisement
The Republicans have been handed Obama's head on a silver platter. All they have to do is tell the truth of his PAST and keep his mentor Rev. Wright hung around his neck. Is McCain a senile old man or what?

The Republicans should recognize and promote the truth about the Marxist in the Democrat fold.
Obama is their Messiah. You can bet they will turn his version of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalyps, Rev."Hate America" Wright,Rev."Hate Jews and Whitie Farrachan,Rev."Shut Down"Sharpton and everyones beloved Rev."Shakedown"Jesse, loose with their version of CHANGE.

If you think America is going to HELL in a Hand Basket now just wait until the new CHANGE POLICIES are put into effect.

Everyone is afraid to challenge OBAMA for fear of being called a racist. HELL FIRE Saffaire this election is about electing an INCOMPENTENT junior senator to be the CEO of the most powerful country in the world. Where are your brains America?

Wright and the Media
Check this out: The Daily Show is suggesting that the Wright controversy has been media driven.

BHO===The hits just keep on coming.
BHO is seriously damaged. He has Bitter-Gate, Arugala-Gate, Pastor-Gate, Tony Resko-Gate and Ahers-Gate to contend with. There's enough gates there to put him out to pasture and keep him there.

But there's more coming. Much more.

In October, Reverend Wrong has a book coming out.

October.

Less than a month before the election.

But despite all this, I am voting for Obama----just as soon as he walks on water.

A Momentary Bright Spot in a Bad Year
It's not easy to stay upbeat when i know that our next president will be a liberal, regardless of who wins. Still, one must look for occasional rainbows, and I found one last week when I had the pleasure of donating to the North Carolina Republican Party (even though I live in Colorado) for the purpose of keeping their ad running. To cap off my enjoyment, I also sent an e-mail to the RNC and McCain, referring to them as wimps and reminding them that the money I gave to the North Carolina GOP is money the RNC and McCain will never see. Do the Libertarians have a presidential candidate this year, or will I have to write in my dog's name?

How Obama and McCain Keep Sister Souljah-ing the Wrong People
I like McCain

It's all about the policy platforms
Mc Cain did the right thing in NC. The JW nonsense is not about policy. You journalists would be better-serving the quality of public information by adhearing to the issues which makes these candidates differ.

These kind of peripheral attack ads must someday stop IF we as a voting public can ever gain the maturity to listen to and grapple with the issues. The media spin does not help. A candidates website does not create an atmosphere for dialogue.

I'd like to believe that we MAY be headed for a new political era if either Obama or McCain are elected in that both these individuals seem committed on some level to changing some significantly entrenched political SOP's in DC.

We must create a more positive atmosphere where everyone is not busy bashing everyone. Just look at your blogs for crying out loud. Not to mention your complex and confusing article.

Have a nice day, Oerving!
