Why Hillary Beats Rudy

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Front-runner Rudy Giuliani increasingly claims the mantle of invincibility -- issues, schmissues, he's the only guy who can beat Hillary.

Judging from my recent cocktail party conversations, it's having an impact. But these same conversations reveal how much wishful thinking goes into the myth of Rudy the Invincible.

"I can't believe the American people will vote for that woman and her husband, a philanderer," one wealthy businessman told me.

"Who are you supporting?" I innocently inquired.

"Rudy," he said.

Can you spell "cognitive dissonance"?

Sean Hannity spends hours every afternoon criticizing those in the GOP coalition (such as Dr. James Dobson) who won't vote for Rudy; sure Giuliani may be wrong on gay marriage and abortion, but he'll be much better than Hillary because he'll appoint "strict constructionist" Supreme Court justices, right?

More self-delusion. Bucking the tide by appointing judges with sufficient intellectual integrity to overturn Roe v. Wade is very hard. Ronald Reagan wanted to do it, and he got it right only once. Even President Bush put appointing his good friend Harriet Miers ahead of appointing a Sam Alito. Only when the base went ballistic did Bush back down, and only because he really is a conservative who cares about what conservatives think.

Rudy? Here's a safe bet: He will appoint a loyalist crony to the bench. When the base erupts, he'll tell the base where it can stick its objections. That's Rudy.

When he's on your side, you admire how fearlessly he will defend your views. When he's not on your side, he ruthlessly steamrolls over you. And on abortion? Don't kid yourself: Rudy is not on our side. Continued...

Cooltruth--don't you think Romney would
be a great Republican nominee, representing EVERYTHING that Hillary is NOT?

He is very likeable, conservative not only socially but fiscally, and has a PROVEN EXCELLENT RESUME of executive successes (in business, rescuing the 2002 Winter Olympics, and as Governor of a liberal state with liberal legislature to work with).

Romney is a formidable campaigner and has a superb team of economic and policy advisors (as well as campaign strategy). Everyone who meets him seems favorably impressed (unless they are already diehard partisans for another candidate). Even Hillary & Bill recognized several months ago when seeing Romney's beautiful wife and five sons in Iowa (?) that the Romney family is a formidable campaigning organization. How could Shrillary hope to beat that--beyond the numbers of 7 Romneys (plus daughters-in-law and grandchildren) vs. 3 Clintons, the Romneys represent a living postcard of American family values, while we all know (unfortunately) what sad dysfunctionality Bill & Hill's 'marriage' represents.

Vote for Rudy as least likely...
to beat Hillary Clinton in the general election. Hillary's supporters are WAY more enthusiastic about her than most Republicans are about Rudy. Unless Rudy can come up with something which can get people as enthusiastic about him as Hillary has managed to generate in the way of interested voters he will lose! I'm enthusiastic about Ron Paul & will vote for him in the primary election & hope either him or someone more vote worthy than either Rudy or Hillary is on the ballot for the general election. I hate Hillary's mandatory healthcare insurance idea or she might be worth voting for. She still waffles, just not as badly as Giuliani. Italians & Jews in NYC must be hard up for people to associate with to settle for a person who managed to get to 'top tier' when his only selling point is he 'is the only Republican who can beat Hillary Clinton' (yeah, right!) My vote goes to somebody worth voting for instead of who the party 'elite' plan on pushing me into voting for. Might as well settle on Hillary if it comes down to either her or Rudy unless we've got something about him we WANT to VOTE FOR.
