Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

With the recent sad news of the passing of Jack Kemp, Brent Baker of Newsbusters blog  remembered the following 1996 quote from Bill Schneider of CNN.

“He is a rare combination -- a nice conservative. These days conservatives are supposed to be mean. They're supposed to be haters.”

Baker cited that as one example of how some in the news media used the selection of Kemp as Bob Dole’s presidential running mate to “deliver backhanded insults about the ‘haters’ who comprised the rest of the Republican Party.”

It often seems, especially if you watch much television, that the words “Republican” and “conservative” are associated, if not synonymous, with rich, mean, white people.  I resemble the white part, except in the summer when I sometimes turn a reddish brown thanks to my native American ancestors.  But I’ve never been rich,  unless measured in blessings, and the only people who have told me I am mean are liberals who don’t think much of my conservative beliefs (and my soon-to-be thirteen year old when she doesn’t get her way).  Most of the Republicans I know are pretty much like me.

So how is it that Republicans and conservatives have such a bad image?

How is it that Miss California, Carrie Prejean, recently answered a pageant question about gay marriage honestly, and respectfully, by echoing the same position as that of President Barack Obama and the voters of California, yet she was cast by the media as a villain?

Carrie Prejean was labeled as a dumb b*#*h (and worse) for saying, “"I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.  No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised.”   MSNBC fake journalist, Keith Olbermann not only called Prejean a “nazi,” but made fun of her appearance, joking about cosmetic surgery she reportedly had.

President Barack Obama said of gay marriage, “I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.….”  Rather than being called a nazi or a dumb bunny he is hailed as a uniter and a healer – that is, when he is not being called an enchanting savior.

Not surprisingly, the focus of mainstream media coverage was not on how similar Prejean’s comments were to President Obama’s, or how her opinion was the same as not only the majority of Americans, but Californians.

When President Bush and the GOP enacted legislation resulting in a $600 tax stimulus check for Americans, Michelle Obama said “You’re getting $600 - what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill…and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings.”   But when her husband and Democrats provided $400 stimulus in tax relief earlier this year, few, if any, in the mainstream media even pointed out the hypocrisy.

How is it that when Michelle Obama wears a $540 pair of sneakers during what her husband has referred to as the worst economy since the Great depression we are not treated to dozens of MSM stories about how she is out of touch? Yet George H.W. Bush (and later Rudy Giuliani) inspired dozens of media reports about how their failure to correctly identify the price of a loaf of bread or gallon of milk showed they were hopelessly out of touch.

In a recent conference call, the RNC’s new media director Todd Herman said we need to confront the fact that some people want to believe our brand is somehow owned by Jon Stewart -- among others.  He is absolutely right. Little the Republican Party, or conservatives, have done lately seems to have made much of a difference in that image problem.  They are not setting the narrative.  Their opponents on the Left, and those in the liberal media are doing it, and with great success.

Those much younger than I am may believe that if we just behave more like Ronald Reagan, the good natured optimist, then the world will see that we are really nice people with good intentions.  What they fail to realize, and what those who lived through the Reagan years know, is that during his administration he was often demonized by those in the media and the opposing party.  He was painted by his opponents as a dim witted war monger who wanted as many people as possible to be homeless and die of AIDS.  But Reagan was beloved by the majority of the American people because he was able to talk past (and above) the media to speak to them directly.

When John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate many saw her way of communicating similar to that of Reagan.  She was able to speak the language of the common man.  Those wishing to disparage her would say she spoke the language only of the red(neck) states, but the truth is they only felt that way because so many of her opponents are far removed from everyday America.  They don’t realize that most Americans, not just those in the red states, could identify with Palin.

There is no way to know for sure, but I betcha the campaign would have been much more successful if run Palin-style than the way McCain handlers did it.  Palin was itchin’ to answer every attack on her.  She did not shy away from the fight, but rather welcomed it as an opportunity to talk about what conservatives really believe.

John Hawkins recently wrote that the Right needs to “play as dirty” as those on the Left.  “While the Right doesn't have to dip down into the sewer as far as the Left has, we do need to start giving them a taste of their own medicine, if only to make them think twice about the way they're treating our fellow conservatives.”

I would not say we need to fight “dirty,” but at the very least we should stop being worried about being seen as mean or nasty.  We (Republicans and conservatives) have learned that our opponents are going to do everything in their power to portray us that way, regardless of how inaccurate it is and we have to stop letting them get away with it.  We not only do not fight hard enough against the image, and the unfair (and often untrue) allegations and accusations in reaction to them, but we do nothing to preempt them.

How the Republican Party and conservatives manage to do that is a big topic of discussion, but there is no doubt it is something they must do if they want any chance of regaining political power.

meanness
The problem with being mean, and especially dishonestly mean, for conservatives is that their traditional consciences, based as they usually are in Judaeo-Christian values, will beat them up. Moses, the prophets, Jesus, St. Paul and countless other leaders said so many things in praise of honesty, gentleness, forbearance, and a willingness to suffer pain rather than give it, that they seem to overwhelm all the instances to the contrary that those who reject the traditions love to cite.

Those who reject the traditions are fully capable of suppressing any lingering conscientious restrictions on using every sort of abuse in characterizing those who disagree with them. They can bear the cruelest false witness against their opponents and sleep like babies. And they have friends in the media, since in many cases they are the media.

It is a war
In war, you gotta mean to win, or you will definitely lose.

I got no problem with being mean, but be honest. The enemy is so dirty, you don't have to lie about them. The truth is more than bad enough.

When you fight a war defensively, you have to win every single battle just hold your ground.
The enemy only has to win one battle in a thousand to eventualy win it all. And that has been happening for the past 80 years.

Look where we are now. Go on the offensive while we still have the option.

"No Big Tent"

"All of us don't need to have a big tent."
"All of us don't need to build a big tent."

None of us needs to play Identity Politics and hang shutters, drapes, lighting and buy the paint for a new, cobbled together house in a new neighborhood.

"The GOP did not move to the RIGHT. It moved to the LEFT."

The GOP didn't move away from us; it moved left and went to LEFT, which is a neighborhood that tries to make us "go along to get along" with them. And, what kind of lunacy is that? If you are going to look for a car. Do you take the $5 car from the GOP ar or do you let the LEFT give one worth $100? You see, no one can outspend Obama.

So, where to now? Home.

There is a strong and solid foundation, which lies vacant in a neighbor that celebrated Reagan. He didn't win the LARGEST ELECTORAL COLLEGE VICTORY IN HISTORY by acting like either of the current parties. Rebuild that house on the old foundation with a focus on the Constitution, Conservatism, Capitalism, Slash Tax Rates Across The Board, a Strong Foreign Policy (with no Apology Tours), Faith and America ...

And, TEACH EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY. Few Republicans actually even know what Conservatism and the Constitution mean. The GOP has continued to allow the MSM and comedic clowns to define what Conservatism and a strong reliance on the Constitution is so they ridiculed us and labeled us "radical right-wing extremists."

Build it and they will come, especially when this share-the wealth community organizer watches his bs economy blow up and "his new friends around the world" teach him a lesson. Trust me, all of "The Forgotten Men and Women" will have had it with watching their money be taken from them and distributed to the loafabouts.

And, Megan McCain can go back to her Democratic Party.

WHO SAVED ARLEN SPECTER?
If the heartless policies of the GOP regarding cancer research is what killed Jack Kemp who was it then that saved Arlen Specter from that disease? Click ApolloSpeaks for the answer.

Denise
"The GOP did not move to the RIGHT. It moved to the LEFT."

Did it ever. It looks like the party of the right mainly because the Democratic Party has gone utterly mad. Consider the strange case of John Kennedy.

Kennedy bore arms proudly in defense of his country. The loss of PT-109 raises questions about his skill as a sailor, but in the aftermath he exhibited heroism and resourcefulness as spectacularly as his youngest brother didn't in a vaguely similar crisis.

Kennedy fought communism determinedly, though not very well, and he once stormed out of a meeting of the Harvard alumni society in which a fellow anticommunist, Sen. Joseph McCarthy, was being vilified. (McCarthy was also a family friend who had dated his sister.)

Despite strenuous opposition from many in his own party, the party of Jim Crow, Kennedy worked for racial equality. In retrospect he seems to have been too cautious, but that's another matter.

Although Kennedy wasn't really a supply-sider, he proposed and argued cogently for, the biggest tax cuts ever seen in the era before Reagan.

In one of my favorite games, Guess Who Said It, I've used unidentified quotations from JFK to confound lefties. Here's one that nearly everyone attributes to Reagan: "An economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenues to balance our budget - just as it will never produce enough jobs or profits."

If Kennedy hadn't been driven up the wall by the steroids and painkillers he used to manage the pain of his war injuries, and if he'd kept his pants on, he might've been a great president. His failings were many, but he was the last Democratic president with a clue.

The point of this ramble: If Kennedy were alive, he'd be widely considered a hateful crank. He'd be so far to the right that he couldn't run successfully for high office in _EITHER_ party.

Apollo
Maybe Specter was treated in Cuba. Cubans are still subsisting on scraps, driving cobbled-together '53 Fords (if they're lucky enough to drive at all), and living in continual fear, but their healthcare system is the envy of the world. Michael Moore says so, therefore it must be true.

Talk to people around you
It's about grassroots, folks. Don't wait for another Reagan to emerge. Talk to your neighbors, your friends, your co-workers. Defend real conservative values right where you live. YOU do it. Speak up. Learn to explain and educate those around you. It's either that or start figuring out the location your going to expatriate to.

This is why I'm learning Spanish and I subscribe to a blog about Costa Rica.

You say you will stand alone if need be.

Does that mean you are ready to DIE alone? Because that just may be what will be required of you in the end.

When you say you will stand alone, be sure of what it means... how much you're willing to sacrifice and how far yo're willing to go.

You mean like:

Rush Limbaugh

Ann Coulter
Sean Hannity
Michael Savage

To name a few. As long as the Republican party allows itself to be fronted by the likes of hate monger Rush Limbaugh then the mean reputation is well earned.

That Observation is Silly, VR
And amounts to simple-minded name-calling into the bargain. I'd flag you as a troll, but I figure the great names you cite can defend themselves better than I can defend myself.

After all, they've had decades to learn how to deal with people like you.

Liberty
As a libertarian conservative, I think it would be best if conservatives would frame the debate with liberals as freedom vs. oppression of the state. Americans love the notion of doing their own thing without interference from government. So our arguments should be along those lines. Do you, the voter, support losing some of your liberties to the government, or do want to throw the shackles of large government?

Wascally Republican
I am a 67 year old Republican, married to my high school sweetheart and we've raised 5 kids who have 10 children and 3 grandchildren. While not perfect, they are pretty good citizens. My wife and I donated a good deal of time and money to church, various charities and friends over a 47 year marriage. If you listen to the democrats, you would believe that I want dirty water and air for my progeny, that I want my two daughters and six granddaughters to be discriminated against, that I hate immigrants (3 of 4 of my grandparents) and that I don't care about the environment (I leave my outdoor haunts cleaner than I find them). The sad thing is that my liberal family and friends know that we are good people but the MSM continues to make me (Republicans) appear to be evil.

VR
So do Perez Hilton, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and James Carville front for the Democrats?

Joel
The president that you so long for is not going to come, and if he did some of what you desire he would no longer be fit to be president. If there were a way to disband cabinet departments like education, hud, homeland security, or epa I would be all for it. But if he decided to stand up and say that SCOTUS decisions had no force, then he would be out of bounds and straying into lawlessness. We cannot have presidents deciding that he would only enforce the laws and SCOTUS decisions he agreed with, because then he would have set himself up as greater than the system that he swore to uphold. We saw that same attitude in the presidency of Andrew Jackson, and it was that ignoring of a SCOTUS ruling that he didn't like that led to the infamous Trail of Tears. We have been down that road, and it is not one we want to go down again. And would you have been cheering if Barack Obama came in and decided that since he did not agree with the SCOTUS decision in reversing the DC gun ban it would have no effect? Would you be cheering him as a man of principle or would you be villifying him as an imperial president?

I am all for seeing many of the government's fingers taken out of the pies it is contaminating, and I want to see a conservative president who stands up for what he believes in holding that office. But I do not want to see any president decide that his ideas, attitudes, and decisions are more important than the laws he is sworn to uphold.

Edamon50
The three parts of the federal government - Executive, Legislative, Judicial are EQUAL. Standing up to the Supreme Court is not lawlessness, it is understanding the Constitution.

Edamon50 - Joel
Just for the record, you will find nothing in the Constitution that says the Supreme Court is the final arbiter of what is constitutional. John Marshall attempted to appropriate that power to SCOTUS in Marbury v. Madison. That assertion is trumped in a very practical sense by the States, and Amendment X, should the States ever summon up the backbone to enforce it.

A group of Republicans are on a "LISTENING" tour. I hope some member of the audience can get them to listen to the idea that it is all about the CAJONES!. Tell them to stand up and combat the lies that come from the Left. Don't just ignore them.

"A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth". The left has been using this as their mantra for at least eight years! It has worked!

Another member of the "LISTENING" audience should tell them to just do the right thing. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Follow the Constitution.Simplify.

This to Vampire; You are a good example of the angry, lying left.Your posts are all surface, no depth. You are a jingoist for a party dominated by people with no moral compass.Even the name you chose to post with is telling.A vampire is a dead person who lives by preying on others.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Those in charge fit that definition because they continue to do the same things that lose elections over and over again and say that if we will all just join together and fight harder, good things will happen.
And just why is that? Even if they were correct, do their followers deserve to not be listened to, ever? They are in charge and we should just follow along meekly is their rule.
Hows that working?
Political parties are supposed to be 'opposition parties', not images of each other. Why should we be embarrassed about that? Why should we care what pleases those other guys?
Now there is a party, the Democrats. They believe and they are united and they stand up for their party and their beliefs. If they could just be guided a little to the right, they would make good Republicans.
For our part, we make for a sorry political organization because the leaders don't demonstrate the will to get into politics.

Several years ago,the left realized they would never control the country as long as the other side had access to the airways equal to them.

Little by little, they have weeded out almost any opposition to their plans. The network news shows and most entertainment shows, movies, etc. have almost all trended left.

The largest newspapers are almost all left-leaning. Many have folded.. mostly due to other circumstances, but many were liberal, editorially.

The entire mainstream media have been a perennial public relations department for the left. They assured Obama would be elected by hook or by crook by praising him 24/7 and never mentioning all his negatives, including his association with ACORN and their criminal behavior.

The media continue to be his ad agency and behave almost like PRAVDA. The right must find a way to go around the MSM if we ever expect to be a viable opposition to them.

taking us. The Founders came here with a desire to be free. They looked at government as a necessary but untrustworthy evil. On the extreme far right was anarchy and on the extreme far left was tyranny.

They set up a government just slightly to the left of anarchy and charged us through the Constitution and Bill of Rights to keep it there.

Today our government sits just slightly to the right of tyranny. Leaders of both parties have brought us here. The "progression" has been slow but steady.

All Americans who value Liberty, love the Constitution and want to pass Freedom to our heirs need to stop the Progress.

We need to become involved in our State government. Petition our State Legislatures to call for a Constitutional Congress to take back the rights of the States, dress down the Central Government and place it back on the scale where the Founders put it.

What we have today is so close to a Soviet style government that it makes me fear that my grandchildren won't live in Liberty.

As someone much wiser than I said, When people fear the government, that is tyranny. When government fears the people that is Liberty.

Where is OBL?
"Wanted Dead or Alive"
"We will bring him to Justice or bring Justice to him"
'He is #1 on the CIA's terror watch list'

These statements and promises from the Bush administration regarding Osama Bin Laden were repeated many times in the War on Terror.

But we see also that the special Bin Laden Unit within the CIA (tasked with nothing except routing this terrorist) was actually dissolved in 2005 by Bush. Why? If Conservatives are not serious about pursuing public enemy #1 to America, why should anyone believe in the War on Terror or Terrorism? Based on the record it looks like just another Republican scam.

The 2004 elections had passed and OBL was no longer needed to rally the Republican party. Hence pursuit was no longer a priority.

Additionally, the Bush family and Bin Laden family have ties that go back at least into the 1990's and Geoge H.W. Bush was at a business meeting with members of the Bin Laden family in a NY hotel on the morning of September 11th. The Bin Laden family even gt a free plane ride out of the country. No questions asked.

The Republican Party has also opposed container inspection, failed to guard the Mexican border did not win in Iraq or Afghanistan before leaving office and actually increased worldwide terrorism against theWest by making America look weak and incompetent in prosecuting the war.

Again, Republicans have demonstrated that they are simply incompetent to win wars or handle international affairs.Just as they lost the Vietnam and Korean Wars, they have lost the war on Terrorism and the confidence of the American public. That's why they were landslided by Democrats.

Actually it was the Conservatives under the Republican banner who have made the greatest assault against our Constitution and the rule of law and held tyrannical rule for 8 years.

Bush ordered the NSA to spy on innocent Americans and violate not only FISA law, but the 4th amendment of our Constitution. He also lied to the American public about surveillance.

Bush suspended habeas corpus (the Constitutional right to a free and fair trial where you can confront your accusers and the evidence they have against you), used torture and secret evidence to destroy and disappear POW's he didn;t like. All are gross and flagrant violations of our signatory obligations to the geneva Convention, the uniform code of military justice and our Constitution.

Conservatives went along with all of this lawlesness dictatotrial behavior without scarcely batting an eye.

Hence Conservatives (whether Republican or not)are untrustworthy stewards of our nation and our Constitution and the real enemy of the state within our own borders.

Bad Conservatives
I don't have room to list all the names Ms. Byrd did in the title, so I'll settle just for "bad". Anyway, the main reason conservatives do little to bad-mouth the liberals is that we EXPECT people to be able to tell when they are lying (their mouths are moving) and to know we are not that way by our actions. Sad to say, it doesn't seem that we are right. We can blame it on many things but I prefer to be nice rather than to live up to what the liberals are saying about me.

Actually the American media is fundamentally Conservative but it is invisible to most people who rely on domestic newmedia exclusively and lack perspective. Anyone who regularly reads foreign papers or newsmedia outlets like BBC or Reuters will see the unmistakable Conservative bias of most all of the American newsmedia.

The fact that some Conservatives are noting a change in the coverage here heralds the fundamental failure of Conservatism itself. Conservatism is a dead political philosophy and increasingly unsellable to an informed public that prefers Truth over right wing propoganda.

First, I believe that
I said both parties are guilty of bringing us to the brink of tyranny.

Do you use the excuse that because Republicans did it, that it is now OK for Dems to do it.

The Dem vs Rep and vice versa is just what big government types and Congresscritters in general want us to do because it keeps us occupied while they move us toward Totalitarianism.

All Free People of whatever ideology should be able to see that and demand our Constitution be put back in force.

First:
BOTH parties fear and fight the Constitution. But I believe that Obama is doing more in what he is doing that Bush ever did. Give Obama 8 years and you will see. ALL of Obama's programs are counter to the 10th Amendment. His proposed appointment to the SCOTUS is in direct opposition to what the Constitution says members are to do. (Empathy? What has that got to do with the Consitutional Law?) Internal Security Force instead of the U.S. Army? Gun control? Rationed medical care, particularly for the elderly since they are on SS and of no longer "use" to the US? Manditory "volunteerism" but only on programs the government picks? Appologies for the U.S. aiding other nations? Betrayal of allies in a hope of making friends with people who hate us?

First
"Actually the American media is fundamentally Conservative but it is invisible to most people who rely on domestic newmedia exclusively and lack perspective."

LMAO, stop it I am cramping, media is conservative , you are killing me, to early quit it.

First:
If you can say that the MSM is basically conservative, then it shows just how far to the left you stand. That is like saying that Obama is moderate and represents all the people.

You asked:
"Just curious why is Obama continuing and enlarging those war fronts. do you think he believes in the war on terror, sorry I mean the contingency plans. "

I am not a Democrat, did not vote for Obama, am not a spokesman for his policy and don't agree with the expansion.

My guess is that he is trying to salvage the image of the USA from the disaster he inherited from the incompetent Republican Party for the good of our nation.

Republicans have proven themselves unable to win a war in at least 90 years.

They lost:
The Korean War
The Vietnam War
The War on Poverty
The War on Drugs
The Cold War (since they capitulated to Communist China proving Communism is good)
The Iraq war I
The Afghanistan War
The Iraq War II

While Republicans can sometimes win electins, they simply cannot govern effectively or follow through with their promises and national commitments.

As Americans wake up to that reality, they choose Democrats who have a winning record and better moral behavior than Republicans.

Vampire's Reflection et al. PLEASE!
I'm so sick of hearing about mean and vicious Conservatives and/or Republicans! FED UP! For each person on your list, I can name you at least 2. Are you telling me Keith Olbermann is not mean, nasty and disrespectful? or Jon Stewart? or Al Franken? or George Soros? or Sean Penn? or Nancy Pelosi? or Chris Matthews? or John Murtha? or Bill Maher? Have you noticed that White House reporters stand for Obama when "Hail to the Chief" is played but they did not for the former President? I have heard more vitriolic babble and hate spewed against George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Sarah Palin than I care to recall so do us all a favor, look in the mirror and give your sanctimony a rest.

I didn't serve in the military (asthma) but I deeply respect you and all those who did, and do serve our county in uniform. Though I am now a senior citizen, I sometimes feel like a spoiled child compared to the courageous, dedicated men and women who voluntarily lay their lives on the line to protect us.

And despite the fact that it would disenfranchise me, I still often wonder if we'd be better off with the sort of political structure Robert A. Heinlein envisioned in Starship Troopers, where the only VOTING CITIZENS are those who have served, thus demonstrating their willingness to fight and die to defend their country, and the rest of the people simply have to live with their decisions.

The novel is, of course, FICTION (as somebody is likely to yell at me) , but when I read some posts from the far left as opposed to yours and those of others who really understand what it means to DEFEND the Constitution instead of shred it by unanimous legislative, executive, and judicial agreement, I suspect that those with military backgrounds just might be better guardians of our laws than those who never served. Of course, the Jimmy Carters would provide plenty of dissent, but they would not be likely to get elected to any offices.

Not true. You are simply uninformed or not observant of the facts. While neither party is perfect, Democrats tend to be more respectful of our Constitution and the rule of law. Bush specifically violated our Constitution multiple times and the Republican Party ignored his unconstitutional behavior favoring power over law:
*Started an illegal war against Iraq and violating the 1974 War Powers Act passed by a bipartisan Congress
*Used eavesdropping against innocent Americans to tramples their 4th amendment privacy rights
*Suspended habeas corpus
*Used torture against POW's
*Lied repeatedly and used fear mongering and hatred to divide the public.

Still with all these ethical liberty lapses and illegal activity, he still proved that Conservatives are simply incompetent and unfit to govern a modern nation. Conservatism is a dead end in political thinking and increasingly unsellable to a truth seeking public.

Bubblehead and T God Bless you, I pray there are more men like you, who are in the company of the Great Men in our past..going back to the Founders who pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor. The progressives are devoid of all three. Thank you for your continued service to the Republic from this Navy wife, mom and grandmom.

Joel: Impeach judges, what a novel idea, too bad the Republicans didn't have the backbone to do it when they were in the majority. But then
by doing that, I guess they couldn't use them as a fear cudgel to garner more votes. You know the mailers that begin, "Don't let the
Democrats win and confirm more liberal judges. Send money now to defeat..." etc. They could still make it difficult by letting Americans know it's constitutional to impeach the traitors on the bench. With idiots like Hatch
who don't have a problem with traitorous judges, the go along, get along nincompoop from Utah has been in office waaaay too long and has been too good a friend to Teddy the swimmer.

Newsflash...,Barry Dunham also promised that when he became President he would get Osama.
It's been over 100 days. Where's Osama?

Your entire post is no more than propaganda!
You are a coward. You sit at your computer posting your lies .

Why don't you get out a little? Discuss your ideas with family members who watched live T.V. footage of their loved ones jumping from windows 100 floors up to escape rolling fireballs of jet fuel on Sept. 11, 2001.

Perhaps you could volunteer on the third floor at Walter Reed Hospital. That's where the soldiers who have lost limbs fighting what you consider a faux war go to be fitted with artificial limbs to replace those they've lost.Let's see how they react to what you have to say.

Why don't you go to a military base near you and attend a family support meeting of military spouses and children of soldiers who have sacrificed much over these last 8 years to keep your sorry self safe? Run some of your big thoughts by them. They could set you straight.

You won't do any of this. I know.

One thing you must do...., thank a soldier the next time you see one. You may never understand why but, trust me. You need to do it. And that would only be a beginning.

Are Republicans Mean
The primary failure of the current Republican political machine is not the failure to be mean enough, or the failure to use the internet, or the failure to appeal to young voters, or the failure to appeal to anybody who isn't white.

These are issues to be sure, but the real failure is the failure to recognize reality when it smacks you in the face. Byrd's article is a perfect example.

The reality is that the public personnae of conservatives and Republicans are Anne Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the various dweebs who write for TownHall and similar organs. Until you change that, your party will continue to be fronted by opinionated, hate filled attack dogs like these.

Here are a few hints.

If your party voices that all Mexican immigrants are criminals, drug addicts, and the illegitimate children of welfare mothers, Hispanics are goign to tune you out.

If you continue to blame the ills of America on urban black Americans, then another 12% of the population is beyond your reach.

If you tolerate the racist drivel that is regularly posted on TH, then you will alienate Americans who think it's despicable, i.e most of us.

If your party voices that anyone who disagrees with you on the role of government is a communist dedicated to the destruction of the American dream, then you will be ignored by the majority of Americans.

If you express that anyone to left of Anne Coulter is a "traitor" and express sadness that the New York Times was not destroyed in a terrorist attack, then you will alienate Americans who don't want anyone killed.

If you continue to ignore scientific realities in favor personal religious beliefs, you will alienate rational Americans.

In short, as long as the wing nut commentators of the right speak for your party, you will continue to lose ground. Unless this changes, you can look forward to about 40 years of wandering in the political wilderness.

First, please elaborate on why...
you dislike (sounds more like hate) Conservatives.

Do you hate people who pay their own bills?

Do you hate people who pay their taxes?

Do you hate people who work to improve their lot it life and that of their family?

Do you hate people who have been busy minding their own business and taking care of themselves for wanting to be free to decide who they will share the fruit of their labor with?

Do you believe that the spending that Reps did during GWB's 8 years would be sustainable?
If not, then how will we ever pay back what this administration is doing? Do you think an annual interest only payment of almost a $Trillion can be paid by taxing only the wealthy, much less anything on the principle?

The Federal government is out of Control and if all of us don't demand they be reined in we won't have to worry about fussing over our social issues because food and shelter will be all any of us will be dealing with.

First
you are actually last on the intelligence scale!

How can you even function? I agree with LC, you are the one that needs a reality check, you freaking liberat parrot! I said this of you before and I'll stand by it, even though you are a blatant and pathological liar by claiming that you are not a dumbocrud, you obviously are incapable of clear and independent thought!

I will also add to my previous post by saying Joel de, I will also stand by you as a brother in arms!

First:
You said Bush:

*Started an illegal war against Iraq and violating the 1974 War Powers Act passed by a bipartisan Congress

Funny. I remember the Democrats voting for this as well as the Republicans. You must not be very old. If Congress votes for it, it isn't illegal. And the Democrats had as much info on Iraq as Bush did, so he didn't "lie" to them about it.

*Used eavesdropping against innocent Americans to tramples their 4th amendment privacy rights

The "innocent" Americans are those who are calling the Mid East. And too many of them weren't "innocent". The rest of us? Clinton started that with his "Privacy Improvement Act".

*Suspended habeas corpus

On what? The Gitmo prisoners of war? Offically since they are both prisoners of war AND non-Americans our laws don't govern them.

*Used torture against POW's

See my comments on "torture" above. There wasn't any. And what they did do was useful in saving the lives of thousands of people in LA.

*Lied repeatedly and used fear mongering and hatred to divide the public.

I don't think that lies from a politician are illegal. Otherwise most of our politicians would be in jail. Further, you would be in jail.

Ride another horse.

Can't be ugly
I have thought a lot about this lately, and it always comes down to the same thing for me. Even though I disagree with liberals, completely, I find it hard to be "mean" to them and down right impossible to return their tactics. Simply telling them the truth is construed by them as mean because they are SO Sensitive and feeling vs. reason based, and because they are so darn insecure. Just answering a question honestly sends them into a tailspin or as I once heard it put by Tom Wofe, off, "squealing like weenies over an open fire." They cry like babies. And they are so pitiful that I just end up feeling sorry for them.

Like take for instance Obama. I can't stand him. But I have no desire to hurt him and when others make fun of him I picture him with his little dog and his little family, completely used by the Democratic party and clueless as they are, and I just feel so sorry for him.

Perhaps I am not the only one and it is this "weakness" of our conservative nature, and our compassionate nature, and our well bred nature, that the left is exploiting. I tend to think so. WE are just not happy to smear people. It is ugly and cruel.

45caliber

Farmer's Wife
I can't decide if First is a high school kid or a raving lunie. In either case, he has no idea of what real life is beyond what he is told it is by the liberal press and his messiah Obama. Sad, isn't it? What is even sadder is that he believes that out of office Republicans should be tried for breaking laws passed after the fact, which is a crime in itself. If he was REALLY interested in honesty and crime punishing, he would be after Hillary. After all the normal sentence for her insider-trading alone was 20 years and she was let off scot-free.

"Republicans have proven themselves unable to win a war in at least 90 years.

They lost:
The Korean War
The Vietnam War
The War on Poverty
The War on Drugs
The Cold War (since they capitulated to Communist China proving Communism is good)
The Iraq war I
The Afghanistan War
The Iraq War II"

Korean War... Truman-Democrat
Vietnam... Kennedy/Johnson.. Democrats
Poverty... Try Johnson's Great Society. Failure
Drugs... Has any party really tried? Is it really a war.
Cold War... Won by Republicans. No, communism doesn't work but you show your true colors.
Iraq I Won
Other two... In process.

You've proven to be a liar and a fake or just ignorant to the nth degree. You are a liberal lunatic, driven by the press.

Moses of 5:52
Good advice.

We need to keep our education language simple.

Illegal aliens are stealing American jobs.

The government has exempted itself from the oncoming collapse of social security.

Printing money to cover government spending reduces the value of the dollar and raises the price of gas.

And in the meantime, Caribbean real estate is booming. Costa Rico, Belize, some of the islands may be good bets. Panama has a large American retirement community. If it were suddenly to increase greatly in size, it could have a further impact on Panama. Money always talks.

Nothing is as mean as poverty
However, discomfort and judging by results do have an ongoing educational value. The voters will either learn what works and vote for it, or continue the current course.

Wow! What insight! You sir are a genius!NOT!

Every one of your "HINTS" are lies that the Dems. have been spouting for the last 8 years. That is when the Dem. leadership made a decision to sacrifice truth for power. You have embraced these lies. You are a victim of propaganda.

It is too funny that you are put off by people like Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, and yes even Rush but..., you apparently see nothing wrong with Janeane Garapolo, Keith Oberman,Chris Matthews, and any number of looney uber leftists who speak for the Dems..

Do you not see that your post is an indication that your thought process may be shorting out a bit before it reaches synapse?

The inference in your post that you are part of the rational majority of people in this country is daunting.

Here are some tips John. Loosen the ties on your Barry Bonnet. You're wearing it way too tight. Take your Barry binkie from your mouth and take a few deep breaths before reinserting. Oxygen is GOOD for the brain.

Long hard road
Farmers wife; You hit the nail on the head.

"Where Progressivism is ...

The "progression" has been slow but steady."

The destination we find ourselves at currently, is a direct result of 100 years of eroding the constitution, and the loss of our rights as individuals.
A change of scenery politically wont bring dramatic change in the next election cycle.
Its going to take DECADES of concerted substained effort to get us back to where we started.
Our constitution was created to move us slowly in ANY direction we CHOOSE to take it. To prevent violent swings in any direction.

Main problem is Americans have notoriously short memory issues. Just 8 short years post 9/11 and already we are tearing each other apart.
What will it take to bring Americans together again ? To realise its NOT us against them, But brother against brother.

Odd
Democrats start wars they cannot muster the gumption to win, They can however murder babies by the millions, they cowtow to tyrants and dismiss our allies. They are excited at the prospect of taking more money from producers and giving it to others. They appologize for our arrogance to the French of all people. They call us corrupt when we throw out our corrupt failures and they defend theirs. They wring their hands about public school failure while de-funding a successful voucher program. Their hypocrisy is fertile and yet we are the mean people!

45Caliber, I don't know....
What "First" is, what I do know is that he/she is not interested in a debate of facts and does not acknowledge that Conservatives posting here are more than willing to call "foul" on our own, something Liberals never do.

First:
One of my hobbies if finding out what REALLY happened in history rather than what they would like you to know about it.

The Republicans did not 'lose' the war in Vietnam or Korea. Politicians did and most of those were Democrat. I fought in Vietnam in airborne infantry. H.H.Humphery was the main one who lost the war there - and he was Democrat along with his friends. He even tried to run for President on the grounds that he had 'saved' the soldiers there - a lie. That's why he lost. Too many of us knew it even though many present history books say the same thing.

Our orders from Congress were that we could not destory anything we found that the Vietcong and North Vietnamese were using. We could not shoot at them, even if they were shooting at us, unless we could garantee no stray bullets (which is impossible if they are shooting at you). We were to act like little targets while the Democrats made political hay. He led the 'Paris Peace Talks' which supposedly set a peace treaty that created both North and South Vietnam. Just before the last soldiers were pulled out of South Vietnam, the North invaded. He and the Democrat Congress insisted on pulling the rest of the soldiers out and refused to support any American soldiers who tried to stop the North. Then he claimed to the press that he personnally 'saved' the soldiers who had lost the war. And he couldn't understand why we wouldn't vote for him!

David
Of course he will. After all, they are our neighbors and he needs the votes. Politicians buy votes, don't you know? With someone else's money, of course. Not their own. They need that for themselves.

'First',you are a liar or you are demented. Either way,you have come to a conservative site to tell us why we lost and that the media are 'conservative. You know that is a lie.

If you have the nerve to reply...give a list of all the conservative reporters you are citing. Not on Fox News, but the MSM. I say,you CANNOT do it. Why should we be forced to look to foreign media for a fair assessment of our news?

There are no journalists in the mainstream media, anymore. They are just paid hacks who shill for the left!! Conservative? You really are a comedian!

You Might Be Horrible and Nasty If
1. You believe in God.
2. You believe that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed or fail in life based on your ability to contribute to the general welfare.
3. You believe in the freedom to keep and bear arms.
4. You believe the Constitution is more than "just a good idea to follow or not depending on political expediency".
5. You believe that the gubmint does not create wealth.
6. You believe that the USA, while not perfect, is uniquely exceptional.
7. You believe that marriage was sanctified to be between a man and a woman. Other relationships exist legitamately, but are not marriage.
8. You believe in private property.
The list goes on. Feel free to add to it. Do not think for a minute though that there is anything we can do to make the left "like us", they never have and never will. For decades, I've seen the Repubs "Play by the rules", while the Dems play to win at any cost, rules be damned. What made Reagan so great was his refusal to curry favor with the media. He delivered his message forcefully and directly to the people.

It isn't just you, I also have noticed the format has also changed. AND I DON'T LIKE THIS NEW FORMAT I'M SEEING ONE BIT!

Whatever you did to give us this new format I'm seeing right now on my screen: SCRAP IT IMMEDIATELY AND GO BACK TO THE PRIOR FORMAT!

What did you guys do, hire some closet liberals who sold you on the notion that this new format would do wonders to attract new posters here?

Because if the format I'm seeing on my screen right now is the way this site is going to be from now on, it will go a long way toward driving me away from this site!

*Started an illegal war against Iraq and violating the 1974 War Powers Act passed by a bipartisan Congress

Correction -- congress is the ONLY branch of government that can authorize war.

*Used eavesdropping against innocent Americans to tramples their 4th amendment privacy rights

REASONABLE searches and seizures - read the law.

*Suspended habeas corpus

Oh like Obamas hero Lincoln did? Terrorists have no HC rights or Geneva convention rights.

*Used torture against POW's

Water-boarding is not defined as torture by law.

*Lied repeatedly and used fear mongering and hatred to divide the public.

No, that would be liberals like you who are STILL spreading these ridiculous lies.

As you have read here - republicans recognize that the government is trying to divide us, you perpetuate their plan.

You are part of the problem.

Gunfights
So true, the conservatives allow the Statist's to control the flow of information and we keep loosing. Sorta like bringing a knife to a gunfight. The real problem is the Statist's bring a claymore while the conservatives bring a feather a losing proposition all the way around. Until we start controlling the agenda we will continue to lose.

Do you ever wonder why the trolls spend so much time here telling us what is wrong with our party? They tell us we are dead in the water, but can't stay away from us. What's with that?

If we are so unimportant,it looks like they would just ignore us. Truth be told, they know their party is overreaching big time and many people who are now fawning over Dear Leader, will soon be ready to revolt!!

Unless one longs to live in a socialist country under a totalitarian government, they will NOT stay with this administration very much longer.

We are watching Obama taking more and more power away from private citizens and private businesses and making us pay for their folly with our family's savings.

LC

You missed the point. Entirely.

Garofalo, Olberman and the like are not the preceived leaders and voices of the left wing and/or Democrat party. There are actual politicians and leaders who have that role, notably the President.

Limbaugh, Hannity, et al ARE the perceived leaders and voices of the right wing.
We saw that when Michael Steel spoke out in disagreement with Limbaugh. He was on the radio apologizing and kissing butte cheeks the very next day.

I do not care, particularly, whether you recognize the reality I describe. In fact, my point is that conservatives generally do NOT recognize reality.

John, PA

And, on what are you basing your statements concerning "perception"? The MSM? Obama, et. al.?

I don't know of anyone, who actually believes that Limbaugh or Hannity leads the Republican Party.

New talking points, please.

AliveInHim
Right! The more concessions they get,the more strident they become. I think they are really afraid of where Dear Leader will take all of us,because they will hurt along with the rest of us.

They don't want to be hung with that tag when the bottom falls out. They never believed he meant THAT kind of change!

The Mean Label Fits
Here's an example of why conservatives (and Republicans) have the reputation Ms. Byrd thinks is so undeserved. In the recent controversy over what to do about the failing auto industry, what has been the knee-jerk response on the right? Blame the autoworkers and their union, cook up statistics (which misleadingly include pensions for retired workers) to suggest that the workers are paid at exorbitant hourly rates, and ignore the substantial concessions the auto union has already made to keep the industry afloat.

This is not to suggest that either the workers or their union are blameless, but to point to a pattern. If there is a choice between supporting---and excusing---society's fat cats or the ordinary working schlubs who are trying to keep a foothold in the middle class, conservative and Republican leaders will go for the former every time. Except, of course, when they are employing faux populism to rile up people who are too unsophisticated to know how they are being used, or by whom. (See: "tea party.")

Small wonder, then, that the "mean" label sticks.

Aliveincompetent
"Sez I: ILLEGAL Mexican immigrants are the problem."

If you voice that all illegal immigrants are criminals, drug addicts, and the illegitimate children of welfare mothers, Hispanics are goign to tune you out. If that doesn't matter to you, suit yourself. But don't expect to hold power any time soon.

"Sez I: Most of our prison population is inner-city black. It was DEMOCRAT welfare and AA policies that 'transformed' the stable black middle class into a swamp."

Sez I: Name names, and quote quotes. But first, define 'racism'."

No. I have no vested interest in trying to convince how much damage you are doing to your own party and how much further away from power you slink every day. If you want to be irrelevant, feel free.

"Sez I: It is the Democrat Party that wants to transform our free-market economy into a Socialist state. Yer damned right we think that's destructive to the American dream!"

If you stop hitting yourself in the head, it will feel good. I promise.

This is a complete non-sequitur. Is it that hard for you to address the issues I bring up without going off on a tangent?

"Sez I: Evolution has nothing to do with science. It is a philosphical view of history. Further, you don't seem to have a problem with schoolchildren learning about Islam in public schools!"

A perfect example. If you can say that evolution has nothing to do with science, and your fellow conservatives are too much of a herd to challenge you, you will not regain power in this country for a very, very long time.

Enjoy being irrelevant.

St Dense
You may have missed the entire conversation, but there was a great deal of noise regardign who spoek for the Republicans. Remember? It was in teh news quite a bit.

You may also have missed the points where so many conservatives are sayign there isn't any unifying voice or real leadership.

But it's irrelevant. I am telling you something that you would already know if you weren't blind to reality. If you want to just keep losing ground, fine with me.

Lorie
Liberals are like kids. What does a spoiled child accuse you of when they can't get their way?

They accuse you of being: Mean. Liberals have the same mentality as small children. Identical in fact.

John
Please show me where I ever said that ALL illegals were drug dealers, etc. Exact quotes, please.

I see you have no response to the fact that DEMOCRAT policies indeed helped our black population right into the prisons. It is DEMOCRATS who btw are all for slavery 'reparations' and the resultant notion that it is 'acting white' to get an education and make something of yourself. Oh, and remember Ebonics? Score another for moi! :)

Maxine Waters-Democrat "We want to social-er, nation, er, take over the oil companies". If you doubt the DEMOCRATS intend to do exactly that, you are a fool indeed. DEMOCRATS also want to socialize healthcare, much as they have socialized and ruined public education, and that is right in line with Obama's essential takeover of the automotive industry per Chrysler in direct violation of the 5th Amendment. Since when is taking over a private company Obama's job? Whee, this is fun!

Sir, YOU brought up the terrorist issue with your asinine assertion that we conservatives wanted the NYT blown to smithreens by terrorists. I just thought I'd refresh your mind as to who thinks we are actually the terrorists. Newsflash-IT AIN'T US, but those goddamned Democrats, especially Janet NotAPatriotano sure are convinced! Incidentally, the NYT is doing such a fine job of self-destruction (how're those interest payments to your Mexican loan-shark working out for you?) we don't _need_ to wish for it.

Evolution is NOT science, since true science is a process that can actually be observed, not simply guessed at. Until an organism is found that has actually developed new gene material or new body parts, you're shootin' in the dark, even more so by faith than any Christian. I see you have no reply to California schoolchildren being REQUIRED to not only learn about Islam for an entire week, but to also DRESS like Muslims. But heaven help the poor kid who has the temerity to say Merry Christmas to his classmates.

Oh My Gosh! Just Like Regular Crooks!!
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - It's like this: When you want a burger, you have to have a burger. In this state of mind, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden took a short—but wholly noticeable—motorcade ride from the White House to Virginia and pulled into a small, independent burger joint called Ray's Hell Burger.
The two leaders went right up to the counter where the meat was being grilled and ordered.

Each fetched cash from his pocket and paid, and then the pair stood like the rest and waited for their number to be called before going to a table.

The restaurant, which prides itself on premium aged 10-ounce burgers, sits in a small strip plaza. The burgers sell for $6.95.

This is a good read from Breitbart.com. It will make blood shoot out of your eyes,as Glenn Beck is fond of saying.

Racism defined...
rac·ism (ra'siz'?m) n.

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race. rac'ist adj. & n.

As to #1 above - states what racism is. I does not describe what many Conservatives on this site are saying. They seem to hold the same belief the MLK Jr. did and often quote him. We believe that people should be judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Just because people are of a particular color does not mean that ALL people of that particular color are equally blessed with good character or bad for that matter.

as to #2 above - Affirmative Action based on race is racist by this definition.

On Republican "meanness"
I say it's about time. Politics is war fought by other means, as the famous saying goes. The Democrats understand this maxim. Republicans, on the other hand, think it's okay to rest on better policies (along with the silly notion of "bipartisanship.)

Expose the lies and corruption of the Democratic party. They did it to us (even when the aforementioned didn't exist) and they did it to great effect. Tell the truth about what liberals are doing and what "progressives" really want. Make them own their failures AND yours (a la Barack tying the recession to Bush.)

Respond to "party of no" charges with "a child playing with matches NEEDS TO BE TOLD NO." -- Soundbytes are critical in today's culture. Simple one-liners. They call us racists? "We're not the ones responsible for the destruction of black families and successive generations of black poverty -- YOU ARE." Stuff like that.

Get a positive agenda, and in the meantime let the left have it with both barrels.

JohnInOregon, FYI...
the "Tea Parties" were organized by and attended by (in your words) "ordinary working schlubs who are trying to keep a foothold in the middle class".....

we would like for government to stop trying to spend us out of debt because it cannot be done. Especially not while government is burning up the money printing press and now China is now saying they don't want to buy any more of our debt....hmmmmmm

Swine Flu
Swine Flu
It was once said that a black man would be president when pigs flew. Well low and behold 100 days into his presidency swine flu

Robert according to the
definition any preference based on race is racist.

If you were asking me which student was Black, I don't know and would not want to know if I were the one making the decision.

This is great article!
The trolls are going crazy and that is ALWAYS a good sign that you got it right!

BTW, my kid is looking for a job, does anybody know how much Soros pays these trolls?

See my post #62, refer to TIPS. Please follow them.

There are so many inaccuracies in your post that there is no addressing them.

I will say that the TEA parties were started by Rick Santelli on CNBC.

The truth is out there. Go seek it.

You are absolutely right, I don't think conservative republicans should change anything, I think they should keep their intellectual Elites (Palin, Bachmann, Steele, Joe, Miss California) as close and as visible as possible, including the lesser know, like all of the Town Hall posters who think that dissenting opinions are paid for by wealthy liberals, who believe that Obama started the flu in order to get his nomination through, and especially those who predict that western civilzation as know it will collapse in the face of same-sex marriage.

Dn't change a thing, ever. Trust me, your admonitions to hold fast to your philosophies will definitely see you through. Remind yourselves that it isn't the world that is changing, it's RINOs.

I think you should print fliers of your top ten racist posts here and pass them out around your town, with the reminder that they reflect Republican values.

Just read this column to the end
New bottle, old whine.

one day of life...
another Liberal with absolutely no sense of humor.

The real haters are Dems./libs
They hate Christians, any religious people except Muslimn terrorists (76% of Ams.), smokers (25% of the US smokes), anti-abortion believers (62% of the pop.), gun owners (nearly 50% of the US), and conservatives (also nearly 50% of the pop. if Reps. are included; 62,000,000 voted for McCain and many skipped the election enirely).

Reps. to my knowledge don't hate too much of anyone. Cons. do not sit around and talk about hatreds. They talk about what they do, because their lives are not entirely based on feelings and insecurities.

Cons. make things work. That's what businesses do.

Libs. make people feel sorry about things and guilty, or want to rewrite history, or want to tell other people how to live.

Cons. believe in traditional morality so libs. say cons. try to control the bedroom. Then libs. tell you No smoking, No fats, No sun and tanning, No petroleum, No carbon footprints, No war, No overseas jobs, No tax cuts, No immigration law enforcement, No morality for sexual expression, No religion, and No driving actual functioing cars.

Is that enough No's for libs.?

In a meeting yesterday, two arrogant libs. started off immediately on Cheney. Do I come in and talk about Biden? Actually, Biden is so insignificant there is nothing to talk about. But I don't start the hatred krap at EVERY opportunity.

Libs. do.

If you would be so kind as to point out a rasist statement I have made,I may take you up on that! But I bet'cha can't!

Amen Renny NJ
And is it not amazing that they just CANNOT let Bush and Cheney alone. They still rave on about them as if they are still in the White house.

To further illustrate your point look at posts #101,#102,#103. Do you believe it? No content in any of the three, just vapid hateful rants. Check out who one day considers intellectual elites in rant #101. OMG! Tis amazing.

"You are absolutely right, I don't think conservative republicans should change anything, I think they should keep their intellectual Elites (Palin, Bachmann, Steele, Joe, Miss California) as close and as visible as possible, including the lesser know,"

Reagan did not practice "Identity Politics"; rather, he taught people of all political stripes what Conservatism means.

Btw, I am a fiscally-conservative, Constitutionalist without party affiliation and you should refrain from equating my "elite" education and intelligence with any of those that you mentioned.

But, do yourself a favor and leave Mrs. California out of your slights. She represents a state that voted for Prop. 8 in a beauty pageant. Continuing to bash her makes you look like Garafolo, Olbermann, etc.

"like all of the Town Hall posters who think that dissenting opinions are paid for by wealthy liberals, who believe that Obama started the flu in order to get his nomination through, and especially those who predict that western civilzation as know it will collapse in the face of same-sex marriage."

I don't know anything about the first two and could give a flying f*ck over sexual orientation, but the Constitutionalist and lawyer in me believes that the govt. has should absent itself from marriage, which has long been a religious institution. Let them all eat cake, while signing their state-issued licenses for civil unions.

"Don't change a thing, ever. Trust me, your admonitions to hold fast to your philosophies will definitely see you through. Remind yourselves that it isn't the world that is changing, it's RINOs."

I am unsure as to whether you are joking, but the GOP has moved to the left and there is no way that it can outspend Democrats. Since I began voting, both parties have spent outrageous amounts of money as a percentage of GDP.

How do you like 8.9% unemployment, with double digit unemployment in 101 cities, the urban areas, and rural regions? Or, a budget deficit for Jan thru June of $1tn? Or, a projected national debt of $23.9tn in 10 years? Or, service on the national debt being $1tn a year beginning in 2019?

Barry, just keep spending. Bankruptcy looms on the horizon.

What shoes she has. Who cares what shoes McCain had. She has a lot of money she can buy expensive shoes. You sound so dumb bringing that up again. No one cares.

Tyler
Who cares? I don't and did not care about McCain's assets. You miss the gist of the conversation . THE PRESS CARED ! They cared about Palin and McCains assets, but ignore Michelle. That's the reason .
