Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Being the leader of the free world is without doubt a difficult job, but no one has made it look more so than the current administration.

After less than two months in office, President Obama, the “Yes, we can” man is already “overwhelmed.”

At least that was the reason given for the shabby treatment the Obama administration gave British Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he visited last week. Not only did the President fail to provide a high profile press event for our closest ally, but he presented him with inexpensive gifts showing little thought or consideration.

The recent incident with the British prime minister is only one example of the recent problems the Obama administration has experienced in their less than two months in office.

In the first week in office the President signed an executive order banning lobbyists from the administration, only to turn around the next day and issue a waiver for a lobbyist to serve in his administration. Although he condemned John McCain over and over again during the campaign for his lobbyist ties and promised no lobbyists would find a job in his White House, he has now appointed over a dozen other lobbyists to key positions in the administration.

The failure to effectively vet administration nominees was seen when an embarrassing number of nominees were withdrawn from consideration due to tax problems. Even more embarrassing, others with similar problems were confirmed, including new Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

Those examples of incompetence and broken promises are not nearly as troubling as some of the other problems in these first several weeks of the administration though.

President Obama’s approach to bipartisan outreach was evident in a comment he made during a philosophical debate over tax policy. In the session with congressional Democrats and Republicans he said he would prevail because "I won." Soon thereafter congressional Democrats effectively shut Republicans out of conference negotiations on the bill.

In a broken promise for transparency, President Obama and the Democrat majority Congress violated their 48 hour review rule by allowing only one night to read the 1400 page so-called stimulus bill before voting on it.

The product of that process, runaway tax and spend policy and billons of dollars of pork in the “stimulus” bill and the President’s proposed budget, have brought even more problems for the administration as they have inspired concerned citizens all over the country to come together for “tea parties” (of the Boston variety) in protest.

Reaction has not only come from the grassroots on Main Street, but also from financial markets on Wall Street.

President Obama spent the time following his election, as well as his first weeks in office, talking about the “continuing disaster” and upcoming catastrophe that is the United States economy. As a result of such not so hopeful rhetoric, the “stimulus” bill and proposed additional bailouts, the “day-to-day gyrations of the stock market” now show a thirty percent loss of the Dow since election day. The Dow has dropped from 8,279 points to around 6,500 since Obama’s inauguration.

Supporters of Obama point to his still high approval ratings, but historically they are only average and in fact are lower than George Bush’s were at this time in his presidency (and that was following the contested election and Florida recount). The rapid drop of approval for Obama’s policies and his rising disapproval ratings may give his opponents hope for 2010 and 2012, but the media is on the job helping remind the public that being President is a tough job.

The New York Times has already done a story about how Obama is going gray  after only 44 days in office. (Evidently the job of president is not the only tough one. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is blaming exhaustion for her recent gaffes in Europe.)

Maybe if President Obama didn’t spend so much time concentrating on how to vilify radio talk show personalities he would have more time to rest. He does save time on memorizing speeches by using the teleprompter though.

I don’t buy the exhausted excuse, although candidate Obama has used it before during the campaign. Jim Geraghty reminded readers of a warning from 2007 that Obama wasn’t yet ready for the job, “The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.” That warning came from not yet Vice President Joe Biden and provides an alternate explanation for the problems the President has been having.

Another theory, one I am leaning toward, is that this is part of an overall strategy. In addition to taking advantage of crisis, as Rahm Emmanuel advocated (or “embracing” it as one report put it), to advance a radical legislative agenda, there is an upside to the current chaos and catastrophe. The worse things look now, the better they may look in a year or so by comparison. If the Obama economic policies do not completely destroy what is left of the economy, and if, at least in the short term, some improvement in employment figures and other economic indicators is seen over the next two years, the media will be able to revive the Obamessiah image that was so successful in 2008.

This all depends on how far Obama goes with his radical liberal agenda and how the public reacts to it. If the current tea party movement continues to grow, he and Democrats may really be in serious trouble. If we experience a national security crisis everything that has happened thus far in the Obama presidency could be completely overshadowed in ways no one can now predict. President Obama and his administration have given Republicans plenty of ammunition to use to fight the Democrats’ liberal domestic agenda, but if it is to be of any value they will have to use it right now.

Excellent article.
If only the GOP would take your advice and start talking about how inept this presidency has been. I wish they would broadcast these facts from every corner just to get on record that they are watching. It is not enough to vote no on the pork packages. They have to articulate and enumerate the weaknesses of this president on a daily basis. Where is Steele? Rush Limbaugh is talking but being villified. Would the GOP leaders please do their jobs!

National Security Crisis? We're There 1
"If we experience a national security crisis everything that has happened thus far in the Obama presidency could be completely overshadowed in ways no one can now predict."
______________________________________________

WE ARE EXPERIENCING A NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS.

We are already facing more than one national security crisis as a result of Obama's fumbling, bumbling presidency.

1. His appointing Hillary Clinto to Sec. of State.

2. His being exposed as having promised $900,000,000 to, obstensibly, the Palestinian authority, but in effect, encouraging radical Hamas; sending a signal that he is turning a cold shoulder to Israel.

3. Making silly appeasement overtures to a Russia who held up his secret love letter to worldwide ridicule, while telling him, "nyet." Thus, humilitating Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic and sending them the message that he is prepared to throw our newest NATO allies under the bus.

4. Totally disrespecting our No.1 ally in the world, Britain.

5. Reaching out to Iran and in return being told to in effect "get on your knees and apologize, then we may consider listening to you."

6. Kissing China's bootie by sending Hillary over there to tell them "Hey,whatever! I'm down with it!" Now China is making aggressive Navy gestures to U.S. military vessels with no comment from Obama or Hillary.

7. Offering to make a deal [surrendering] with the Taliban; trying to pass off cowardice as "diplomacy".

8. [and lest I forget] Ordering the closing of Guantanamo, resulting in charges being dropped on two of the top terrorist in the Middle East.

9. Finally, making overtures to Cuba.

10. Telling the N Y Times that we are losing the war in Afghanistan.

National Security Crisis? We're There 2
10. Telling the N Y Times that we are losing the war in Afghanistan.

I could go on and on.

All the while all this is going on, here at home he is bankrupting the U.S., promising to destroy our oil and coal industry, and promising to cut our military spending & soak the small and big business owning class to help "redistribute wealth" and fund housing bailouts.

With North Korea making noise [and on high military alert], China's continuing "playing chicken" with the U.S. Navy, Iran promising nuclear destruction shortly, Russia showing an unwillingness to have its butt kissed, and all our allies being given the cold shoulder or middle finger, take your pick.

Barack Hussein Obama has, within less than a 2 month period, put America in the sights of every hostile regime in the world.

He has demonstrated that he is the WEAKEST President in the history of America, and that his is a policy of appeasing America's enemies.

This President is a coward and a fool and he is putting America in a very dangerous position.

He's going to get somebody killed. And, sadly, it will probably be sooner rather than later.

National Security crisis
I should have been more specific and referred to a national security crisis of such magnitude that even the Obamedia would have to report it. I was referring to something along the lines of a significant terrorist attack on the US.

Lorie
I think you did a excellent job with your article. You make some very good points. I didn't intend to slight you in any way.

I just wanted to play off that sentence in your last paragraph and use it to take a slightly different tack.

I agree with CAarchitect: Excellent article.

Keep up the good work.

CAarchitect
Where is Steele, indeed? Good question. He needs to become controversial by promoting controversial conservative principles. His best role would be the Goldwater role of the 70's, getting ideas out in front of the public. Unpopular in the present, but a fall back position for the voters as the results of Obama's "change" produces misery.

Red Envelope Project
I got an email from a friend the other day asking to participate in something -- to protest, peacefully, the President's stand on abortion. Or Voluntary Population Planning, as he puts it.

I believe we should respect the Office of President, But I don’t think that means we should sit idly by while things happen we don’t approve of.

So someone had a great idea of the RED ENVELOPE PROJECT. I hadn’t ever heard of it before, but I really like the idea. A simple, peaceful way to send a message.

Here is the email I received:

Get red envelopes or postcards and mail them on March 31st to the White House
When: March 31st, 2009
Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington , D.C. 20500.

On the back, write the following message:

“This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion. It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world.”

Fatigue No Excuse
I have never before heard a U.S. president whine about being tired and 'overwhelmed.' Of course, all of the other presidents had been employed during their adult lives, so I presume that is the difference. However, blaming classless, crass, rude behavior to visiting dignitaries on fatigue is ridiculous. Let's face it, this bunch is in way over their heads. I think the Obamas need to stop partying, jet-hopping around the country, tormenting talk show hosts and other opponents, and acting like they are in campaign mode. A reduction in these activities should ensure adequate rest so that work can be done efficiently and correctly. I guess those rules were not included in Saul Alinsky's book. Maybe Obama needs to read another book, one not written by Alinksy.

President Obama'a Approval Rating

His approval rating will never dip below 40. Too many of his supporters have invested too much of their ego into worshipping this flawed candidate. These emotionally invested souls will not, and in fact cannot, do anything other than desparately parrot the nonsensical rationalizations fed to them by the administration and the owned media.

To do otherwise would cause too much to their self esteem. Whole crowds would curl up into the fetal position and perish of humiliation. [Read any post by Dr. Douglas and you'll recognize the personality type.]

It's much easier on the ego of our Obama-supporting citizens instead to blindly pledge allegience to the messiah. Whatever problems we now face as a nation are solely the fault of the evil George Bush and his cronies. No decision by President Obama could be anything other than the best decision to be made in an otherwise impossible situation created by those other people.

Yeah, that's the ticket. We pure and noble Obama voters couldn't possibly have been wrong in our assessment of the savior.

So he's "exhausted"?
After less than two months on the job? Poor baby. My heart bleeds for him.

This idiot wanted the job he now has. Its time he grows up, and grows a pair, and deals with it. I have exactly zero sympathy for him. If he can't handle it he should resign. But, then, we would get Little Joe Biden. Not sure which one would be worse.

As for his dissing our closest ally, what is this dunce thinking, or is he thinking? Is he not paying attention to the career professionals in the State Department who are certainly there to advise him on the proper etiquette and protocol? Or is he ignoring their advice and going with what his Chicago thug background is telling him to do? Or is he deliberately insulting England so he can reach out to all the terrorist groups around the world? Whatever this dope is doing he needs to stop it now.

Exhausted?
Maybe if he'd stop partying at the White House every night, he'd be able to garner a little clarity of thought. That's what happens when you put an adolescent in the Oval Office.

Exhausted?
Incompetant more likely. If nobama was as truely smart as msm keeps telling us why hasn`t he come up with a way for socialism to actually work.

It is tough being President.

Yeah, and it's also tough being a complete and utter moron.

Hey ovomit, just cause you're a passenger on the short bus, doesn't qualify you to drive it.

It's tough being an egomaniac
My theory - Obama really DOES want socialism - but instead of an coup d'etat, he is using his governmental powers and those of a Dem majority in Congress to do it. By advancing more doom and gloom than is necessary, he is setting the stage for the public to accept the REALLY radical changes he will impose down the road. Unfortunately, most of the ignorant public will embrace these changes because they don't really understand the difference between capitalism/freedom and socialism/slavery. So much for the effectiveness and appropriateness of our school curricula.

I heard (unconfirmed) that he has his sycophants in the House drafting a bill to do away with term limits. Am I surprised?

God help us all. I'm glad I got a chance to see the U.S as it was meant to be before I go to the Obama gulags in a few years for being a defiant revolutionary.

OBAMA'S INFERIORITY COMPLEX
Why did Barack Obama rudely refuse to appear with Gordon Brown at a joint press conference when the British PM was in Washington? Answer: Because Obama's inferiority complex got the better of him that day. Because our big, bold courageous President feared the contrast with Brown. Because Brown's stronger intellect and larger and more vigorous personality would have overshadowed our mental and moral pip-squeak-in-chief. By not appearing with Brown Obama avoided a humiliating experience that would have made him look like the pint sized, shallow, small minded man that he is.

Many pundits, including myself, have likened Obama to the Great Appeaser, Neville Chamberlain. While the analogy isn't entirely wrong it does Obama too much credit. While Chamberlain was tragically short on judgement when dealing with Hitler-mistaking him for a conventional statesman and missing his revolutionary intent-he was no sheepish, frightened, self conscious Mickey Mouse. We're a nation at war with a weakling for President and that could spell disaster and the coming of a terrible war.

For more on Obama's inferiority complex go below and read my: Barack Obama, Abraham Lincoln and the Image of Presidential Greatness.

Tough being President
I wonder when the morons who voted for this administration will recognize that they were mislead by an even more moronic media. Well, that's what you get when you have liberals (communists?) running our educational system.

Orszag
Neither the article nor a single comment has mentioned Orszag, the Budget Director. What a phony! Did you see him on CNN the other day? Obviously, in waaaay over his head.

Sadly, although there may be something to this issue of Obama's citizenship, the courts will surely be unwilling to address it.

I know the third-world well, especially Latin America. This last year, while watching the American political and financial scene, I've become convinced that we've declined into banana-republic status. Perhaps we were never really any better, but have been grossly fooled all along.

Where are the true leaders hiding? I certainly did not see one of them among the recent slate of Republican presidential candidates. And don't say "Jindal" to me!

There is no hope.

Ms. Professor
Doing away with Presidential term limits, especially with this dunce in the White House, is a scary thought, indeed, especailly in light of the ACORN thugs and the proposed Civilian National Security Force that Odumbo wants. However, just a piece of legislation would not do it. They would have to amend the Constitution to repeal the 22nd Amendment. Of course, given that they are trying to give D.C. voting representation in Congress in violation of the Constitution they will probably ignore the 22nd Amendment just as they are trying to ignore that.

Ms.Professor
You speak of the gulag...
Obama is clearing out Gitmo to make room for
American dissidents.

Immaturity
This is what it boils down to...the 'chocolate messiah' is a sniveling snot-nosed black kid who never had a father to raise him correctly with good American ethics and morales. He has been brainwashed since his adolescence and is STUCK there, unable to move forward to adulthood. That's why he is in constant party-mode and still smokes (inside the WhiteHouse!) Heck, he couldn't even bear to part with his Blackberry...juvenile. This young boy needs a shrink and years of de-programming his Alinsky ways. He does not deserve to be our C in C - he is a usurper who bought his way into the presidency.

Shirley in IA, you are spot on...
This man child is so inept, cannot do a speech without his teleprompter (Security Blanket).

Obama and Brown
Our Idiot President knows nothing about protocol or how to act. Chicago thugs aren't interested in learning how to act properly. He wanted to be President because he thought it would be a cool gig. Time to impeach on the grounds of incompetence, not to mention consorting with the ENEMY. All of the idiots in Washington need to be out. Let's just start over.

Fatigue

To have parties every day is the toughest! That does bring real fatigue!

Fatigue
To have parties every day is the toughest!
That does bring real fatigue!

Shirley, IA
You hit the nail on the head!

Any ideas of what we can do about it now? I've contacted my Washington DC representatives, as well as my state representatives, and let them know how dissatisfied I am with everything since the election. I know things aren't going to "change" overnight (unless you are O making the changes), but this guy is really scary!!

Its tough
When you find the "oceans wont fall and bright light doesn't come down from the sky", and the superman suit binds in uncomfortable places, but thats life if you want to be the top dog. Unfortunately, this guy has never had to put in a full days work in his life and can't take it, thats why he is "overwhelmed". Over-educated incompetence is not peculiar to Obama, he is just in a position where that incompetence hurts the country. But then the sheeple did it and they are proud, or are they?

KATZ
I suspect the most arduous experience in Obama's life is playing basketball and working out with a "trainer."

Wouldn't you love to see him out in the country where whimps fear to tread?

Many of his sidekicks are strange looking dudes. His budget director, for one, looks very light in the sneakers.

The so calledd "approval rateings"
Just like Obama, are smoke and mirrors. Those "he's 67%" and "always above 60%" are only true if you believe Gallup or Kospol. He has not been above 40% in the "strongly approve" category since shortly after Jan. 20th, and the "strongly disapprove" has varied widely from 20% to (today) 32% (Rasmussen). His "Presidential approval rating" has been around 12-15% for the last month but today is 8% (Rasmussen again). The question gets the answer you want, but Rasmussen has been spot on for a long time in asking the right questions.

GREAT IDEA!!!!!

COUNT ME IN. I'M DOING IT!

A Less Than Becoming President....
Obama is enjoying all the perks of the Presidency, but failing to act Presidential. He will certainly leave a very bad stain on the office once we are rid of him.

Maggie
Anyone living in Georgia should "Refrain" from using the word "Stupid". I can't listen to Governor Purdue speak, because his level of competence is non-existent.I imagine the "Redneck" are upset, with all these big words and stuff...

The Inept.
Agree, that teleprompter is Obama's Security Blanket.
Shame on him a thousand times over for being hell-bent on destroying the USA, as we know it, as fast as he possibly can.

I have a 3 word description of our Empty Suit president.

A Hypocritical Socialist Rube.

Aw, gee
Poor Barry.

Can't the world just stop turning and give the guy a break?

Impeach
This is far more serious than political gamesmanship, and the players are more deadly than the one-eyed pony who used to occupy the Oval Office. We have the potential for the loss of everything we know and love about our nation.

Now that the messiah is bargaining away a shield for Eastern Europe, and will likely begin to give other things away - including support for Israel (based upon his choice for Intel Director, a pro-Palestinian, pro-China, anti-Israel doofus by the name of Chas Freeman) - we should be prepared tomove quickly.

People have joked about the loss of Alaska to the Russians, but it really isn't funny. It's a potential reality.

With one mole being Sec. of State, the other being President himself and the third being Intel Director, we should be prepared for impeachment hearings as soon as the Idiot In Chief starts talking about using PEOs. Once he declares a state of emergency, the Legislative Branch and the Judiciary aren't allowed to broach the topic for 6 months.

See Executive Order 11490 and subsequent orders, if you don't believe it.

Telepromper Jesus
Take his Teleprompter away from the Messiah and what do you have left? A. An over educated Community Activist/Organizer who has no practical experience in running anything, with maybe the exception of his big Mouth.

Very Good!
The article is funny, easy to read and deep.
The goal of this couple was to became A KING &
QUEEN of USA. They are enjoying parties every
week and like to see Americans as a big grey
mass who needs a permanent teaching how to be
alive. What is it "DOW" for our president? ---
it is a game to watch ...sometimes.

Tired
He's tired from flying around every day in Airforce One and using up all that gas.

Somebody really has it in for Hillary, sending her to Russia with a Reset Button which didn't translate into Russian. This administration is a circus.

Don't Fight 'Em...Pay 'Em...

President Obama on Friday left open the door to negotiating with elements of the Taliban as part of a counterinsurgency strategy and tried vainly to make an association with General Paetraus’ successful policies in Iraq.

This from a presidential candidate, now President who never supported Gen. P’s strategy, and has never, until now, given him one iota of support. Neither to Gen. P’s strategy and success nor to the soldiers and Marines who carried it out.

It is therefore, pure sophistry for this ridiculous and unprincipled ignoramus to presume to exploit the success of General Paetraus or the brave men and women who he expressed nothing but disdain for throughout their overwhelmingly successful campaign.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said Tuesday that 70 percent of the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan are essentially mercenaries who possibly could be negotiated with instead of fought, and said the United States likely will try this approach.

The idiot vice-president, Joe Biden, in response to a question about how many of the Taliban might be considered "moderate" and therefore open to reconciliation, Mr. Biden ticked off some percentages.

"Five percent of the Taliban is incorrigible, not susceptible to anything other than being defeated. Another 25 percent or so are not quite sure, in my view, [of] the intensity of their commitment to the insurgency," Mr. Biden said during a press conference.

"And roughly 70 percent are involved because of the money, because of them being . . . paid," he said.

So there you have it folks.

Don’t fight ‘em, pay ‘em.

I think this war is nothing that can’t be resolved with another “stimulus” bill funding the Taliban Destruction Reconstruction Act of 2009.

That’s “change you can believe in.”

He's not
overwhelmed - he's incompetent.

What's another 500 billion?
"Five percent of the Taliban is incorrigible, not susceptible to anything other than being defeated. Another 25 percent or so are not quite sure, in my view, [of] the intensity of their commitment to the insurgency," Mr. Biden said during a press conference.

"And roughly 70 percent are involved because of the money, because of them being . . . paid," he said.
-___________________________________________

By this calculation that translates into 95% of the Taliban being anything but incorrigible; the rest being either unsure or mercenaries who can be paid.

By this "logic"--we never should have fought the Taliban in the first place!!

If we would have simply added them to our Foreign Aid budget on September 12, 2001, we could have avoided this whole sad affair.

That darn George W. Bush!!

I'm glad we've finally gotten a "progressive" president and sanity has returned to our foreign policy.

After all...

What's another 500 billion?

Ocean Recalc
Sorry Ocean, I don't WANT to assist Biden, but he said 5%, 25% and 70% = 100%....

Time for Full Frontal Attack on BHO
Obama is off to a very weak start-- Jimmy Carter weak--notwithstanding the MSM's attempt to prop him up. Even his former allies, some Dems, some Mods, some Reps--Buffet, Whoopi Goldberg, Brooks, Buckley, Bayh, Will, Cramer, et al--are desserting him in droves. Now is the time to take him down politically, in a weakened state, before he can further damage America. Fight the Dems step-by-step on every piece of socialist legislation.

If you're not participating in the attack on the Dems, you're part of the problem.

Wake up, America, or die in your sleep!!!!!

Fine article Ms. Byrd
I believe "no more earmarks" will become a famous insult in future times. Much like "read my lips, no more taxes" did a few years ago. Of course "no lobbyists", "transparancy" and oodles of other lies are already on the books.
Oh and another of my favorites "if you make less than $250,000 your taxes will not increase a dime". Don't you just LOVE that Cap and Trade tax that passed the Senate today in the "Stimulus Bill"? I love the $1,500 TAX per family. I guess the Pres. doesn't understand we ALL don't earn $250,000 a year. Does that make him stupid, or just a liar?
