Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The election of Michael Steele as the new chairman of the Republican National Committee is a ray of hope in what has been a pretty dark and dreary season. I am a long time Steele fan with high expectations, but I realize there is only so much one man can do. Republicans have some serious problems and one person is not going to be able to wave a magic wand and make everything better, but I believe Steele can make a big difference and can re-energize the party. He brings with him a confidence and a freshness Republicans have been sorely lacking. I am sure he is getting comments and suggestions from everybody and their brother, but I’ll throw mine into the mix as well.

Dear Chairman Steele,

Congratulations on your new position as Chairman of the RNC. I read your Blueprint for Tomorrow online at RNC.org and am glad you stressed the need to stand firm for Republican ideals and to transform the way the RNC communicates. You identify the GOP brand as badly tarnished and say we have “squandered the trust of the voters with a stunning display of spending and government growth.” In your blueprint you provide research that shows Americans have not become less conservative, but rather the Republican party has not shown itself to be the reliably conservative choice. I agree and am glad you don’t see compromise on our core principles as the way to electoral success.

You say we must once again become the party of ideas and to do that we must do a better job collaborating and coordinating with center-right think tanks, grassroots organizations and online networks and working more closely with conservative media. I am particularly excited about your love of technology and your ideas about ways to better utilize it in all aspects of organization and outreach. I look forward to seeing the specifics you employ as you put plans into action.

I hope to see you continue to appear as frequently as possible on television and radio. You are an excellent communicator and when you say we “spend too much time talking to ourselves instead of spreading the gospel to potential believers” you couldn’t be more right.

You will be our ambassador and one of the most prominent faces of the party. I hope you will bring the same enthusiasm you showed in your acceptance speech to that job. “To my friends in the Northeast: get ready, baby. It's time to turn it on, and work to do what we always do well, and that is win. We're gonna win again in the Northeast. We're gonna continue to win in the South. We're gonna win with a new storm in the Midwest and we're gonna get to the West and lock it down there, too."

“We're going to say to friend and foe alike. We want you to be a part of us, we want you to work with us. And for those of you who are ready to obstruct, get ready to get knocked over.”

I love that attitude. We can’t win if we act like a bunch of losers and we have acted like losers for too long. In your Blueprint for Tomorrow you said we must promote our ideas aggressively, “fully prepared to compete for every vote, in every election, in every office, in every state.” That is the kind of confidence we need. It is what made Sarah Palin so popular. She had absolute confidence that conservative ideas were the ones that would work and she did not apologize for them and she was ready to take that message anywhere there was anyone to listen. Republicans had been starving for that and now that we have had a taste of it, we crave it even more.

In your plan you mention advertising as just one part of a diversified strategy. The “puppy” ad you ran in your Senate race in 2006 was my favorite political ad of all time. I look forward to seeing you bring some of those fresh ideas to an innovative ad campaign.

In 1994, the “Harry and Louise” ad campaign run by the Health Insurance Association of America was very effective in putting the intricacies of a massive complicated healthcare program into language the average American could understand. Republicans successfully used the debate over the Clinton healthcare plan to expose the big government liberal agenda of Democrats. GOP candidates reaped the electoral benefits, ending the forty-year hold of Democrats on Congress reducing their controlling majority of 258 seats in the House to a 204 seat minority. Not one Republican running for reelection in the House, Senate or for Governor lost in that election.

In 1996, the DNC struck back by running ads that successfully demonized Republicans, making a black and white grainy image of Newt Gingrich the face of the party. I am sure you are well aware of that history.

I hope to see some modern day “Harry and Louise” type ads to explain to the public just exactly what is in the wrongly named “stimulus” plan and an aggressive Republican campaign to paint Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as the faces of the modern Democrat party. In at least one poll taken following the 2008 elections a majority of Obama voters believed the Republicans controlled Congress. No wonder Democrats running for Congress did so well in spite of the single digit approval ratings Congress had. Democrats and the media successfully made Republicans the face of an unpopular Congress even though Democrats were the ones in control. That we allowed that to happen is inexcusable.

You said in your Blueprint for Tomorrow, “This time Democrats are more liberal, more committed and more angry than they have ever been. They are poised to implement an agenda of higher taxes, excessive spending, more government bureaucracy, and a fleecing of our personal freedoms. The Democrats will over-reach. And when they do, our chance to strike a stark contrast will come.”

With the proposed stimulus bill that chance may have come. If Senate Republicans stand united in their opposition to big spending as their counterparts in the House did last week, we will have the perfect opportunity to make the differences between Democrat liberalism and Republican conservatism clear. If Republicans abandon conservative principles there isn’t much anyone will be able to do to, but when they stand firm on conservative principles I hope you will seize those opportunities for all they’re worth.

Congratulations again and best wishes.

Everyone watch closely....
the Senate vote on this sham of a bill....remember the names of ANY republican who votes for it at election time as the proposal stands NOW.

And as for Mr. Steele......when he can purge RINOS, I'll be convinced.....and he needs to stand tough on illegal immigration as well.

As Obama's stimulus plan fails
and the country looks for other solutions to our economic problems, Conservatives have the ideal opportunity to showcase their ideas. Steele is right to focus on communication because if Conservatism is to succeed, we must convince so called RINOS and Independents that our values are the only way to succeed. This can only be accomplished by thinking positively. Obama appologizes for our country and thinks that our best days are behind us, which is an attitude for certain failure. Steele must communicate the pride that all Conservatives have in this country and the strong unwavering will to make it better. Good luck Michael.

Whew!
Glad to hear Steele got the nod on this. I was afraid they would keep McCain buddy McConnell, Rhino Elite. The Rhinos in the Senate are a disgrace, lead by "our" POTUS nominee, The Idiot McCain.
The RNC needs to stop supporting these losers, incumbents or not. They need to support true conservatives starting in the primaries. Rhino incumbents would get no support if a true conservative is running against them in the primaries.
Good Luck Mr Steele, you have the full support of this conservative Midwesterner, who has seen the once Midwest stronghold (except for Illinois and Minnesota) for Republicans dwindle to nothing. Grassroots baby, Steele has that right!

Wow, I am Encouraged!!

Given the fantastic track record of RINO candidates over the last decade, I forecast unparalleled electoral success for the Republican Party. Imagine 2010, an entire slate of Demo lite, Republican candidates, poised to assist the MESSIAH and Nancy in bringing real change the American people. Perhaps, John McCain will still be able to run a loyal opposition campaign in 2012. Given the approval of the Times and NBC,the Republican Party can enjoy the status and power that it commanded in the 1960’s and 70’s.

In view of the
news media, the education system, the unions, the trial lawyers, the victim groups, and what they tried to do to undermine the war in Irac and have successfully done to undermine the U.S. economy... COMMUNICATION??, inclusivenes??, thinking positively??
That' as doppy as "The Big Tent" theory.
There's nothing in our tent they want.
There could not have been a more clear distinction between the parties this election cycle, excepy for perhaps Clinton's second term when everybody knew he was a liar. Look what's happening now with Daschle, remember him? Rembember what he was like to Bush's cabinet choices.
Michael, you better collaborate with the Coulter's, Limbaugh's, and Palin's ...no ore reachin across the aisle.

Communication is the key
Steele and Ms Byrd are correct in that communication is the key. Clear solid Reagan conservative issues, especially on the economy will win back Congress and hopefully keep Pres Obama to 4 years like Carter instead of the traditional 8.

The typical Amercian hears words like "Stimulus Bill for creating Jobs" and wonders how Republicans can be against it. It is totally a propaganda name though.

The Republican Party must clearly show most voters what those who read townhall or listen to Sean hammity already know. The Bill has little job creation, the largest amount of the money not spent for 2-4 years instead of now and is riddled with Pork that has nothing to do with jobs like 400 Million for STD research and over 200 Million to hollywood for new movies!

Watching Fox as I write this and it is showing new Poll numbers are very much against the Stimulus bill.

Stay Focused, stay on message and Start Now and we can get this country back.

Never Surrender

Steele On Track
His Blueprint for Tomorrow is a terrific starting point and I truly am excited about seeing the party dig in and "start fixin' things." Michael has the vision and skills to make it happen. I am more enthusiastic then ever before to be a PROUD MEMBER OF THE GOP!

Dear Chairman Steele
The reason the democrats beat the republicans in the last election was because there wasn't enough difference in McLame and Obama.

Reagan won because he made a CLEAR CUT distinction between the republicans and the democrats. Newt brought in a republican majority for the first time in 40 years by making a CLEAR DISTINCTION between republicans and democrats. All the republicans did last election cycle was to say "me too" right after the democrats said most anything.

This isn't difficult. They don't have to go out and get a team of policy experts to come up with a plan. There are any number of conservative radio hosts out there who do that every day. All the republicans have to do is LISTEN to them and then DO IT!

But . . . Nero fiddled while Rome burned.

Sorry
Since Mr. Steele supported Guiliani in the primaries, I assume he is OK with being pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control and pro-amnesty for illegals. None of those things are in the Republican Platform that he swears to support. I think I feel another GW Bush coming on. Just a different color.

Ken

You may be right and if you are, the republicans can get ready to continue in their minority position. I have FINALLY figured out that it really doesn't make much difference in wheather I am being screwed by a republican or a democrat. It feels the same and the results are the same.

The two Bush boys REALLY screwed the republican party and frankly, if they are what a republican is, then I am NOT a republican!

But then, I have already figured that out and am looking for another party. Looked at the Libertarians, but they don't want to defend the nation. So I keep looking.

Dear Chairman Steele
I think the Republican party must define conservative principles and teach them. But lets' not demonize those that are liberal because if we stand for America, we don't have to.

One of the most important things we can do is to develop pictures of pride in America with it's written freedoms in the Constitution.

Wouldn't it also be refreshing to say that we feel the government should get out of the abortion business. Just drop the issue. If one wants to get an abortion, so what? That would allow Christians to minister to those contemplating abortion.

Oh, and finally, let's vow never to nominate anyone like McCain who tries to stradle the fence hoping to offend no one.

Dear Chairman Steele
Thank for giving the GOP a new outlook on the future. You have my and many people I know support. Again thank's wishing you the best of luck in your new Role!

Dear Left Wing Loonies

Please take note that OUR black leader is more black than YOUR black leader.
Disagree with him and I guess that would make you more 'racist' than you've called me.

Godspeed Chairman Steele. Your selection is proof that conservatism is on the rebound.

tax reform we need
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects the money, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
You cannot convince a person or a corporation to start a new business or expand an existing business, increase jobs, and hire new employees, when you tax away the operating capitol he is using to operate his PRESENT business
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third.

Mr. Steele, advise them
Obama voters have reduced your numbers to the point that the liberals don’t even need RINO votes to pass everything they want, and that’s bad. It’s at the point where Nancy Ex-pelosi-ve is eliminating rules that allow you to have any effect. We need to get Conservatives back in the majority in Congress

WHAT ALL OF YOU MUST DO FROM NOW ON IS VOTE UNANIMOUSLY AGAINST EVERY BILL AND TAX THAT LIBERALS PROPOSE!!! DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYTHING LIBERALS PROPOSE!!! DO NOT GO ALONG TO GET ALONG WITH THE LIBERALS!!! DO NOT GO TO THEIR PARTIES!!! TOTALLY VOCALLY OPPOSE THE LIBERALS IN EVERY WAY, ESPECIALLY ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY!!! THE LIBERALS ARE TRYING TO STICK YOU WITH PART OF THE BLAME FOR ALL THEIR FUTURE FAILURES; DON’T LET THEM DO IT!!! DO NOT CLAP WHEN OBAMA SAYS ANYTHING!!! JOINING LIBERALS IN ANYTHING IS SELLING OUT AMERICA!!! THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!! THEY ARE YOUR AND AMERICA’S WORST ENEMIES, AND WILL DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO DESTROY BOTH!!! GET THE BLUEBLOOD COUNTRYCLUB ELITES OUT OF THE PARTY!!!

Ronald Reagan resurrection
Dear Chaiman Steele
You have made an 84 year old man happy again. For 8 years I've been so disappointed in the republican party. Now, with your election and your guts I think there is 'hope' again.

Black Prince #8
The 2008 Presidential Election was a farce. It was not between a Democrat Party candidate and a Republican Party candidate. It was between a CPA (Communist Party of America) member and a RINO (Republican In Name Only). The RINO candidate was chosen by the CPA because he had military experience, and their anointed CPA candidate didn’t. The RINO candidate was nominated by Democrat voters in states with open primaries where they could use crossover votes to select the GOP candidate before Republican voters had chance to vote for their choice.

The big mistake was in the selection of the VP candidate for the RINO Party. Sarah Palin was the most qualified, and exciting candidate in the campaign, including all the members of Congress in line for the Presidency. As soon as they realized their mistake, the CPA sent out the attack dogs to vilify Palin whenever and wherever possible. The RINO Party put her in the crosshairs of the CPA wherever and whenever they could.

The RINO Party candidate campaigned as a RINO, not as a Republican. Whenever possible, the RINO Party candidate praised the CPA candidate, and crossed over to the CPA whenever possible. He had established a record in Congress as a RINO, not as a Republican.

The CPA spent as much campaign money as possible on the CPA candidate; while the RINO Party spent as little as possible on their candidate. This election was like a soccer game where the net at one end of the field was one foot larger than the ball diameter, and the net at the other end was ten feet high and as long as the field was wide.

CPA members of Congress deliberately caused the national economy to go into the worst recession in decades and blamed the RINO Party. The RINO Party candidate happily accepted the blame.

After deliberately losing the election, the RINO Party candidate is praising and kissing the a@@ of the CPA candidate.

This has to be a grassroots effort
The most recent poll for the stimulus bill is 38% public approval. Last week it was over 50%. This bill is being shot down because it is being exposed for what it is. This bill is the perfect example of how we can retake the senate and house, as well as fight from the minority position. We need to put out the information, we the people need to stay informed, as well as keep our friends and family who aren't in to politics as much informed on the issues. We can combat the liberals from a grassroots level. We can educate and inform the public by talking about it, emailing out information, and using the latest technology. We can combat the liberal youth movement by educating the youth on who is going to get stuck paying for all this stuff. It will be them, and their children, and it will be when they hit the prime of their earning life. The 30 year bonds will hit when they are in their late 40's and early 50's. When they are thinking about and planning on retirement, when their children are starting out with their careers. That is when they will get socked with higher taxes to pay for today.

Reply to Black Prince....and Corndog!
Black Prince....how in the heck are ya?....Haven't heard from you in awhile....I suspect you may be just getting over the trauma of Obama...(lol..being elected)...as far as parties go...look at the Constitution Party or a few others....there may be something there for you...and I'm in the same boat as you....WITHOUT representation!.....

Reply to Corndog......

"Please take note that OUR black leader is more black than YOUR black leader."

....lmao.....you crack me up.....lol...

Steele is a RINO
While I think Steele is a talented individual, he is what you conservatives have labeled RINOs. I don't understand the fasination with the guy. The Republicans should have picked someone like Newt Gingrich or Karl Rove. They are true representations of the Republican base.
It is only a matter of time before Rush Limbaugh destroys the credibiility of Mr. Steele.

Hope, not hype
It looks more and more like Obama's "hope" is actually "hype" but Mr. Steele brings real hope to Republicans. The party should return to its core principles, develop a coherent message, and develop effective messengers. But we should not lose sight of how effective the Saul Alinsky style campaign run by Obama was. We need smart, effective technicians to counter these tactics, knowing that Democrats are refining their methods for the next election even as we speak.

Right but not Right enough
doubt if Steele is really Right enough for the task of making the Republican Party competitive. His record thus far is that of a RINO/CINO, and Rush will have him for lunch.

If the Republican party is to play any role in American politics, it must develop and enforce its own doctrinal purity. There should be no room for non-conservatives of any sort, no matter how they label themselves. Membership should be based on express, stated agreement with a list of principles developed by conservatives.

Those principles should include criteria for membership such as:
1. Heterosexuality; no gays in the Republican party. Period.
2. Religion. A religious test should be part of party membership. While Judaism is acceptable, Christianity is to be preferred. Among Christians, evangelical Biblical Christians are to be preferred.
3. Anti-abortion. There should be no prochoice Republicans. Period.
4. Creationist or ID: No Republican can believe in evolution.

More can be added, but this is a good start.

Next, how to deal with Obama. Republicans should reject the "loyal opposition" nonsense. Mean and nasty is the key. Republicans should oppose and resist all actions and policies of Obama. They should work to remove him from office as soon as possible, and there should be the beginnings of a move to impeach under way now. Republicans should also demonstrate, protest, and spread dissension against Obama. They should do everything
they can to discredit and embarrass him, and bring him down. IF they truly consider themselves patriots, Republicans will defy Obama at every opportunity. After all, conservatives know that Obama is (a) not really an American citizen; (b) has "Hussein" as his middle name (what kind of an American president has a name like that, anyway?) and (c) he's a Muslim

The goal of the Republican Party, if it becomes truly conservative, should be a religious Right party. Run, Right, govern Right.
