Factors that Could Lead to Obama's Downfall

Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Change is an effective mantra in elections following two consecutive terms by one party in office. That is especially the case when the current officeholder is unpopular and the economy is weak. Barack Obama has that as a tremendous advantage in this race and recent polls breaking his way show it, but there are some significant factors that could still lead to his undoing.

When you look at the unpopularity of the current administration, the financial crisis that has overshadowed all other issues, the fawning media and the promise of a charismatic young figure offering change, it would appear this race is over. In fact, it would not be surprising if that candidate were leading by twenty points by now. Prospects are certainly looking good for an Obama win at this time, but there are a few factors that can still work in John McCain’s favor. Obama’s liberal voting record, his far left associations and the fact that Democrats control the Congress could all still cause trouble for Obama.

Obama is spending significantly more in my state of North Carolina than McCain, so I see a lot of Obama ads. One I saw several times this week was incredibly reminiscent of some Bill Clinton ads from 1992. I remember the Clinton ads because even though I opposed him, I was impressed by how good and how persuasive they were. Bill Clinton sat in what looked like could be a living room, or perhaps a large homey office, with natural lighting, and talked directly to the camera. He told voters that he was for a middle class tax cut and for “ending welfare as we know it.” I couldn’t argue with either of those ideas. I knew enough about the Democratic party at the time to know it was pretty unlikely that would happen, but I had to admit it sounded good.

When Clinton promised those things, the economy had already begun, and was maintaining, a steady recovery. That didn’t stop him from referring to it as the worst economy in 50 years, though, and the nation bought it. Now we have an economic situation that both candidates agree is one of the most dire our country has faced. In spite of the fact that Democratic policies are largely to blame, the unpopular sitting Republican President and his party are going to be saddled with the majority of the blame. Those in the media will ensure they are, regardless of whether or not they are deserving of it.

In the Obama ad I have seen many times this week, he is sitting in a setting very similar to the one Bill Clinton used in 1996. Also like Clinton, he talks directly into the camera and promises tax cuts for the middle class. Will this approach be as effective for Obama as it was for Clinton?

A big difference between Bill Clinton and Barack Obama is that Clinton could credibly claim to be a moderate. He was a governor from a southern state. Southern Democrats are sometimes just as conservative as their Republican counterparts. Barack Obama is from Chicago and he has an unbelievably liberal voting record both as a state legislator and in the United States Senate. Barack Obama has voted against tax cuts or for tax increases 94 times. Obama has a liberal track record that should set off voters’ alarm bells. Why should anyone believe he would now cut taxes when he has consistently opposed them for so many years?

Bill Clinton promised tax cuts, but even in an economy that was recovering nicely, he came back to voters barely a month in office and said that in spite of working as hard as he had ever worked, he was not going to be able to deliver them. There are certainly many excuses Obama could find to back out of his tax cut promise, but even if he did come through on it, there is another problem with it. Obama’s tax plan is hard on small businesses. Even though many lower and middle income individuals would see less taxes personally, small businesses would face a bigger tax burden. Those small businesses employ lower and middle income people. If voters understand that the same tax policy that might allow them a bit more money in their refund checks could also put them in the unemployment line, they might not be so eager to vote for it. The only way they will know that though is if John McCain can successfully make that point.

The only reason Bill Clinton delivered on his “ending welfare as we know it” pledge was because after vetoing it twice, he was told that he had to pass it or he would lose his re-election. He therefore signed a welfare reform bill that a Republican majority had passed. That brings up another factor that could work in McCain’s favor. Voters favor divided power.

The Democrats currently control both the House and Senate and barring some extreme unforeseen circumstances will not only continue to hold, but most likely increase their margins of control. Barack Obama has the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate. Most far left liberal policies are not terribly popular with American voters, but if the Democrats control the White House and all of Congress, voters will have essentially given them a blank check to do just about anything they want. One only has to look at the extreme liberal voting record of Barack Obama, as well as the liberal agendas and records of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to see what they can expect in an Obama presidency.

It should be obvious to voters that an Obama presidency along with a Democrat-controlled Congress would result in the most liberal policies many of us have seen in our lifetimes or imagined in our wildest nightmares. Add to that the very real possibility that a President Obama would appoint two or three Supreme Court judges. There would be virtually no check on the power held by liberal Democrats and they would feel emboldened by the election to claim a mandate for anything they proposed.

This is a scenario that should frighten all but those in the most extreme left wing of the Democrat Party, but I don’t think it is a scenario that most voters have really considered. Those in the media are not going to write or talk about Obama’s extreme liberal voting record, just as they have not, and will not, investigate his associations with the likes of domestic terrorists, slumlords, and fat cats that fleeced Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It is up to the McCain campaign to draw that picture for the voters.

Those on the left will say it is fear mongering, even though for years they have warned of the extreme right wing and the fascist dictator state that America would become under Republican governance. They can’t do that with John McCain, who has so often been in opposition to conservatives. Since he would almost certainly have a Congress controlled by Democrats, any attempt to scare Americans with a rightwing fascist state is absurd.

Those on the left can neither credibly argue that a far left agenda would not prevail in an Obama administration. Barack Obama’s voting record is Exhibit One that is exactly what voters should expect. The case against Obama and complete Democrat control of government is bolstered by crooked associates of Obama such as William Ayers, Tony Rezko, and Rev. JeremiahWright. Additional clues to the leftist paradise that might exist under Obama can be seen in the thuggish attempts to silence his critics, whether it be his goons trying to shut down talk radio interviews or his operatives in state offices who are threatening to sue anyone who makes claims about Obama they deem false.

It would be no mystery to voters that an Obama presidency would be dominated by a far left liberal agenda if they were looking at the track records and associates of the candidates. Instead they are largely being shown an illusion of a modern day Messiah who is ready to unite the country and solve all its problems. They are being shown images of adorable children singing songs of worship and praise to Obama who is going to “rearrange” things to make them right. They are being given fluffy, puffy stories about the candidate by those who profess to be news reporters. The veil is so thin, really, if you know what stands behind it. Whether or not the McCain campaign can lift that veil in the final month of this campaign will determine the course of the country in ways we can only now imagine.

One Has to Wonder . . .
. . . if McCain's reluctance to expose this seamy, sleazy side of Obama is due to intimidation from Obama's legion of street thugs and goon squads, with a possible threat of doing worse to him than had been done by the Communist North Vietnamese at the Hanoi Hilton.

But besides all the above points, indeed taking them into account, Obama strikes me as a total sociopath - someone who is all charming from a distance, but you would not under any circumstances want to know up close.

Great article
Thought provoking and well-written. All true. Do you have any inside contacts in the McCain campaign - they need to read and ACT on these ideas.

I was thinking this election should be a breeze to win for McCain for precisely the reasons you mention, and I am double shocked that it is even proving difficult. There are SO many reasons to reject Obama; where are people's brains??? And, like you said, why isn't the McCain campaign enumerating the myriad reasons for the voting populace?? If they "surged" and blistered the country with all the reasons to reject Obama and all the reasons to vote for McCain, I can't see how McCain wouldn't win (unless of course, the American public is just plain dumb, which unfortunately is beginning to look like a real possibility).

McCain Has to Regain Enthusiasm
He might be embarrassed about voting for that pork-filled Bailout Bill in Congress, but he needs explain himself to the voters and then set out to fight Obama on all the issues that matter. Sarah Palin has now done her part in restoring his poll ratings. Now John McCain, you have to take off the gloves and get the truth out.

Just Sad !

Just sad!

Dear lorie, while you say things that would make sense to thinking persons, none of this will have any effect on the vast majority of voters who function on emotion, rather than intellect. I give you examples:

"Dad always voted for Democrats, 'cause they are for the common people."

"No, I don't read anything. I watch the ABC, BBC, CBC, RBC, CBB, NBC, NSMBC, IMBICILES R US, PBR, PRAVDA, and I noe whuts happinin."

"Obama excites my heart. I do not know anything about him, but when he speaks, several quivers run up and down my legs."

~~~
OK, OK, just to be fair, some quotes from the opposition...
~~~

"When Hussein Oblama speak, brown stuff runs down mah laig."

"When obomba's minister says G-D-America, I want to wrap my hands around his neck. In a friendly fashion, of course."

"Geez, obummer's bro is living in a squalid hut in Kenya, on a few dollars per month. obummer has millions of dollars, wha don he sen sum to hes bro?"

The Recalcitrant Rodent

problem with Palin
I think that there are many reasons why Obama supporters have a problem with Palin, but the main one is what her nomination said about McCain himself.

I've followed politics fairly closely in the last 30 years, and I can't remember a more brilliantly timed political move than Palins' nomination.

Obama had just delivered his speech at the DNC, and could have reasonably expected some very favorable coverage of it for a couple of days.

Well along comes JM the very next morning, and nominates SP. BO is blown off the media stage, and everything is about JM and SP.

The MSM then spends the next couple of days trashing SP, and then she gives an excellent speech at the RNC that makes them all look like the fools that they are.

BO supporters expected McCain to make a half hearted effort and then graciously concede to the BO tsunami, just like previous GOP people whose "turn" had finally come (see Bob Dole), and McCain signalled that he's in it to win it.
Also that he's either an extremely savvy political tactician, or one lucky SOB. Must have been a helluva shock.

The only way to change this was to make the SP choice seem foolish in retrospect, which is what they've been trying to do ever since.

But I think that to perceptive BO supporters, they know that this is something to be scared of. BO has a lot of problems, noted in the article above, and they have an opponent who seems to be ready to exploit them, WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT. That would be in the last two weeks before the election.

Maybe JM is just keeping his powder dry? Maybe not, but it has to be worrying to BO supporters.

I think we will see
a blitz of ads in the last 3 weeks pointing out all the commie baggage that comes with bambi.

This guy is dangerous, he is either supremely naive or in the pocket of people who hate this country like the Soros crowd. We have no idea who funded him early on or who greased the skids to get him where he is today.

You libs out there are playing with fire in your zeal to support him, my grandson said to me the other day, "don't they read history, how could anyone vote for this guy, it's like hitler in the 30's".

You are blinded by your hatred of Bush to the point that you cannot see that this guy is playing you like a violin.

As voters, you are supposed to put your country first, your childrens future first and support the constitution to insure that they get what you now enjoy, freedom that was bought for you by someone else's blood.

If you vote for this fool, you will rue the day and there will be no turning it around...down the road, your kids will depise you for giving their dream away.

Tax Cuts and Big Business
Obamma's a classical New Dealer, like LBJ, but without the network, at least not one in the Senate.

Tax cuts for the middle class can be "bought" for pennies. The impact to the precious federal gov't is very small, but it rings well with a lot of voters. What I am saying is this: he is buying cheap votes.

As for hurting small business, this too is a New Deal approach. It is easier to control an economy of a few compliant big players (all properly unionized) than it is a free economy composed of small business all running about pursuing business without the permission or coordination of a clique that seems to believe it must be in control.

A concerned American
Do you think John McCain's family has been threatened, secretly?

Biden hinted at a McCain strategy
In last night's debate with Sarah Palin, Biden reiterated the Democratic themes on McCain:

(1) Bush has been a truly awful President who has made some disastrously mistaken policies.

(2) But on the big-ticket issues, McCain has pursued similar policies as Bush.

Since it's way too late to change the public's mind about (1), McCain really should attempt to disprove (2). He should break with Bush, once and for all, and AGREE with Biden and Obama that Bush has sucked as a President.

One way to do that is to remind voters of how often McCain disagreed with Rumsfeld on the war. Rumsfeld is gone from office, it's easy to scapegoat him. McCain should talk about Rumsfeld's mistaken policies of "transformation" and his opposition to expanding the army and his refusal to send a larger occupation force to Iraq.

No matter how painful it may be for the GOP base, it's time to cut Bush adrift. If McCain cannot convince the voters that he's nothing like Bush, he's toast.

What I Think?
I think Obama is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
He tells the public one thing but when he gets together with his radical supporters he laughs at how he is fooling the people.
Satan can appear as an angel of light too.
But of course if you don't know the difference between wrong & right as so many younger people today have never be taught, you will fall for anything.
As we used to say during the cold war he seems to have the same ideology as a "socialist Pig".

Missed opportunities
Don't you sometimes just want to scream at the GOP "dumbos" for not attacking? for no efffective aggression? When is someone going to remind the voters that contrary to the slick snake oil sales ploys John McVain has NEVER served a day in the Bush administration? Are we never going to hear it brought home how our current financial mess can plainly be laid at the feet of the Liberal Democrats and their campaign contributors at Fannie and Freddie? Why is the President not deflecting the blame directed to him by telling the US citizens how many times and when he, or members of his administration, warned of Fannie and Freddie wrongs (and general wrongs of Wallstreet). When is someone going to point out that the Democrats are the party of trial lawyers and hedge fund operators?!?!?!?!?!? whe is someone in the GOP going to go berserk? I was really hoping Palin would last evening; Biden sure did his knife job on McVain's "maverick" label, and you know it doesn't matter that he was spewing outright lies (while accusing Palin of this if she even dared reveal the LIBERAL Obama record) to the MSM.

Seawolf & I: Good thoughts.

Seawolf: I surely HOPE so. And there's a LOT of it. That could be part of the "strategy."

Remember when McCain mentioned in the last pres. debate that Obama doesn't know the difference between a "strategy" and "tactics."

Of course, that was in regard to Iraq, but it holds true for the campaign as well. Obama has run his entire campaign with "tactics"... such as ACORN'S thuggery and in your face.

Hopefully, McCain's "strategy" has been to hold back and bring up ALL of Obama's Iraqi and other questionable connections, and blow open ACORN in the next two weeks.

I: Good thought. Wouldn't be at all surprised given the Obama/ACORN "tactics" so far.

Worried
Great article! Obama speaks well but says little and with all of his excess baggage, I am really puzzled why the McCain camp seemingly is doing nothing to combat the obslaught of idiocy that flows from the "messiah's" mouth. I am afraid our country is in for a rude awakening. Perhaps after four years of "obamania" we will wake up and send Sarah Palin to the White House.

Seawolf
Solid research indicates Obama's path to the Harvard gig was greased by Saudi Royal Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud, thru Percy Sutton &
Dr. Khalid al-Mansour ( aka Donald Warden ). All of whom are long time proponents of the Saudi Islamic excuse for religion.
Moderates they ain't. It's an easy link to research, with no way Obama can pretend it doesn't exist.
Why MCain has not run with all the available, verifiable data on Obama is a mystery.
Then again why did McCAin vot on the 458 page "PORK - Barrel Bail-Out"; after his entire campaigne has been based on killing off "PORK".
Something smells funny about this entire Senate rush to pass a Marxist rescue package and McCain refusal to come out against the "business as usual" pork barrel politics. I figure we'll find out all about it - after it's to late to make any difference.

Perhaps they're hoping that bh0 will prove (with American voter audience) the cliché "better to stay silent and let people think you're a full than to open it and remove all doubts"--in other words, let the voter see exactly the fool they'd be electing!

Seawolf
"You are blinded by your hatred of Bush to the point that you cannot see that this guy is playing you like a violin."

That is true. What is also true is our country is celebrity obsessed. When you kick god out of the public square a vacuum is created. All vacuums will fill with something.

Remember the LBJ years
The Democrat landslide in 1964 gave them a super-uber majority. Republicans were powerless to do anything -- even filibuster (the Dems had the votes to shut it down) -- and anything, or almost anything, that LBJ wanted he got. We came dangerously close to becoming a dictatorship. In fact, even leading Democrats were worried. Fortunately, enough Dems listened to their constituents -- occasionally -- to forestall that. I don't believe that we'll be that lucky this time if B.O. wins.

So Bush is a disaster.
Lets see....
Highest unemployment Bush

hollow promises
In order to assess how well Obama will keep his promises, all we need to do is look at how well he has kept his word in the past. He promised that he would accept federal funding, with its spending limits, for his fall campaign. When it became apparent that he could raise far more money than the feds would give him he reneged on his promise. He said that he would debate McCain anytime, anywhere, but then turned down McCain's proposal for a series of ten town hall debates during the summer. Why give the old man a platform when you are ahead of him in the polls? A person of integrity will keep his word, even if it may redound to his detriment. Obama is not a person of integrity.

How quickly people forget Carter
Highest unemployment under Bush 6.5 %
Highest Unemploymeny under Carter 8.9 %
Interest rates Bush 6% Carter 18%
Carter gave us gas lines, remember odd/even plates/dates for gas. Iranian hostages and Carter's inept and cowardly response. This was the start of the radical islamic resurrgence. Malaise, misery index, etc etc.
Obama is Carter squared. McCain isn't much better, but he is less liberal. After 1 term of His Highness, most Americans will long for the Bush disaster years.

BEFORE PULLING THE LEVER
Every voter should ask themselves two questions: Am I voting for this canditate because of what he/she promises me of what they plan to do when elected? Or, am I voting for this candidate based on what he/she has done already, and therfore, we can predict that they do more of the same?
Obama/Biden keep going back to what Bush has done to predict what McCain will do. If this is true, certainly than, we can predict what Obama will do.
So do we need an extreme left wing, Chicago style politician who associates with known terrorists and takes huge sums of money from Fannie and Freddie to look the other way?
I am not thrilled with McCain, but he has never betrayed this country or gotten up in front of foreign audiences and trash talked this country. He truely loves this country for what it has been and is now. Obama has had nothing good to say about this country until he won the Democratic ticket, and he has only changed his attitude to win the undecideds.

A LOST CAUSE...
The author is correct, but what does it matter? The media is in the tank for Obama, most Americans are stupid, most voters want something for nothing, Obama knows how to lie skillfully, and John "Democrat-lite" McCain has run an inept campaign and apparently doesn't understand you can't beat a socialist opponent by neglecting to point out that he is a socialist!

Due to the direct effects of a liberal House, and Senate.

But let's raise the taxes again, and play with it, and see just how many will be unemployed in 2009

Don't know 'bout that
These facts about Obama have been known for two year. These facts didn't torpedo him against Clinton, and they won't likely torpedo him against the less-liked McCain. If Hillary couldn't get this garbage to stick to him, McCain won't be able to either.

Nice try, though. Every poor debate by McCain and Palin, every poor, embarrassing handling of the financial crisis, and every time McCain is too gentlemanly to hit hard is a day that people will be able to imagine Obama as president--which will ultimately elect him.

Concerned American
..hmm, a classic symptom of sociopathy is the curious tendency that no one to really knows the sociopath. They think a lot of things -- he's quiet, she loves her dogs, he's worked here for 15 years -- but the ultimately don't really know the person in any depth.

Can anyone really say they know and love Obama...other than his wife? I've heard NOT 1 of the people he helped as a Community Organizer. Anyone from Hawaii still friends with the man? Anyone from Harvard? How about from Chicago? Reverend Wright? Look how quickly he went under the bus. I've known community organizers, and the one thing most could agree on is that they generally liked and knew him or her.

Powerful Forces
Obama has consistently exhibited all-consuming self-absorption, whereas McCain has consistently shown ego-strength. Having said this, there are very powerful forces/groups in America who have, for years now, schemed to gain control of the White House. They have even timed the market "collapse" to favor their candidate, Mr. Obama. Their careful selection of a man with a fragile ego and a tissue-thin record to be their instrument is also part of this grand scheme (not to mention his biracial background).Yes, they may well win the White House. They seemed to have left no stones unturned, except for 3 that Lorie Byrd has mentioned in her article. Let us hope it is not late for the public to realize how they have been conned all throughout this election ptocess.

Spot on David
I think David has hit the nail on the head....JM has played the master tactician in his timing. If he attacks too soon, the Liberal media will fly cover for obama and discredit what ever the McCain camp does but if this all occurs last minute, Oct 20-Nov 4, then there is not enough recovery time. obama himself, can't get it done but with LSM/Soros/hollywood behind him, well thats pretty formidable.

A contradiction..
Laurie Byrds says:

"The Democrats currently control both the House and Senate and barring some extreme unforeseen circumstances will not only continue to hold, but most likely increase their margins of control. Barack Obama has the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate. Most far left liberal policies are not terribly popular with American voters, but if the Democrats control the White House and all of Congress, voters will have essentially given them a blank check to do just about anything they want."

Ummm.. if liberal left policies are so unpopular with "most" Americans as Byrd says, then how is it she can state in the same sentence that Democrats are in power and will likely increase their majorities in Congress in the upcoming elections? Is Byrd stating Americans are so unintelligent that we can't vote properly for politicians that espouse our views? Or maybe is it just the case that some liberal left ideas are not as unpopular with American voters as conservatives may believe, and that truth is being born out in the elections of Democratic majorities at both the national, state and local levels all in areas all around the country?

McCain / Palin
Several posters have suggested that the McCain/Palin campaign may be hiding their guns.I hope they are right.

I may be wrong, but I think McCain/Palin do not run their campaigns. The RNC does. The RNC doles out the money, makes their travel reservations, decides which cities and states they will compete in.

I also believe sometime between now and a week or so before the election, the RNC will bring the hammer down. McCain won't need to do it. He wouldn't anyway, unless forced to do so by the RNC.

They have all the information we have and then some. Some real information may have come from the Clintons, who have a score to settle,if some of their demands aren't met.

The information must be something even the MSM cannot ignore or the campaign will need to go around the MSM directly to the people. Buy some airtime and announce it straight to the people with back-up information.

I wish these wishful thoughts would come true.It is something for me to hope for.

We're Very Close to Winning If....
The MSM wants to lead you to believe that McCain-Palin is dead in the water because they want you to be demoralized. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The average of the most current surveys from the three reliable polling operations-- Zogby, Rasmussen and Gallup--is 4.7%!! If the 5-7 point Bradley Effect is embedded in the data, as most pollsters believe, this is a virtual dead heat race!!

As Lorrie implies, we are a few hard-hitting debate points and Obama Truth ads away from winning this thing. McCain and Schmidt need to pull the trigger.

So, He Could Be Like George Bush?
We're supposed to fear that Obama as President could appoint justices who will rule according to his political views, would have a "blank check" from Congress to do as he pleases, and would feel that he had a "mandate" to do so. Sorry, you've described George W. Bush, not Barack Obama! Only W,losing the popular vote & only winning the electoral college by 2%, could have claimed a mandate to ride roughshod over half the country, and do so. Obama is a unifier and has far more respect for the American people and for the Constitution than the Bush/Cheney, McCain/Palin tickets ever have. Obama is far to wise and has too much at stake to replicate the horrors of the Bush/Cheney administration--but McCain/Palin would if they could, because like W they are "mavericks" which means that the rules that apply to the rest of us don't apply to them.

some facts
How could anyone believe Obama after he has lied about his association with Reverend Wright, William Ayers and Saul Alinsky. Reverend Wright has cursed his own country, the very country that allowed him freedom of speech.
William Ayers is a convicted felon who hated his country so much that he tried to overthrow it by bombing public buildings and robbing banks.
Saul Alinsky is a communist agitator, who has taught Obama the tricks of the trade.
Why, in Gods name would we trust this man to be our president?

Obama is neither modern or messiah . . .
First, Messiah refers to the One to whom Barack Obama proclaims to be a devout follower of. However, Obama's actions and words, and support of infanticide, for exmample, show nothing of the sort.

That said, yes, it would be a nightmare for Obama and the coalition of liberals and leftists called the Democrat Party to prevail in the upcoming election.

Fascist Obama and his camp are anyting but for the people of America.

How can they be? They look down their judgmental noses at hard word, faith, family, the Constitution and, generally, America.

Given Obama's megalomania, though, and how the polls, be they cooked/slanted/skewed or not by whichever propagandist news outlet that serve him, suggest his lead--given this, I'd imagine His Rockstarness and Fraudulence's head swells.

McCain and Palin and America have them just where they need to be.

They will peak early, just as Obama did in the spring.

And McCain's campaign and conservatives will see to it that Obama and his Marxism and lies are exposed. So much so that the empty suit from Chicago will whine and cry as never before.

McCain and Palin will be the next POTUS and VPOTUS, respectively.

And, yes, then all of America will be blamed for that loss and all of America will be labeled racist by Obama and hsi devotees.

Wait, though, they've already done that.

How Obama could lose?
Sure and if pigs could fly.
Let me get this straight. We the people should fear a government of Democrats led by a Democrat? Could they possibly do any more harm than the current one that had a Republican Congress for 6 years out of 8? I doubt it. God, in her infinite wisdom, would not visit that upon us again...

Lorie you reap what you sow!!
According to the posts above the hope is
A. The republicans have some dirt on Obama
or
B. The "Bradley Effect" kicks in big time.

What a sad commentary on the state of some peoples view of our country. Obama imo will win this election because the majority of voters are tired of fear mongering, character assasination and the glass is half empty mentality. People are excited for a new course which be niether conservative or liberal. Thank God Barack has come along because we desperately needed him.
My friends be open to change, be open to possibilities and most importantly be open to Obama The next president of these United States.

It is all about temperament
All the cry babies on the right can scream what you like, Americans will not be fooled this time.
Why would anyone want someone who is mentally not stable like McSame to handle the black box? Given Mcsame's volatile nature will he not just bomb other nuclear powers and then set the world including the USA ablaze? Mcsame cannot handle the economy, he and republicans derregulated the economy to the disaster we now have.
Is temperament and the economy stupid?

By the way, let us reopen Mcsame's Keating five corruption.

Subject: Silly Article
So many words, so little thought, coherence or wisdom. This spewage is a prime example of why the Republicans are in such a state of disarray and the country has reaped the benefits over the last 8 years of this type of high-thinking policies. Thank God for the Dems, Barrack, Biden, and a big change coming to the USA!

Grammar lesson
Lorie,

I know the references in your piece, such as "Democrat Party," are meant as a dig at the liberal progressives, but modifying a noun with a noun just makes you sound ignorant (the adjective is 'Democratic').

Grow up.

three things that can go wrong
Lorie, You are a looney!

lies, distortions, etc.
You know full well his voting record reflects not his political leanings, but rather the highly polarized environment in Congress. His record is liberal because every vote that came up was designed to divide. Anyone who keeps on with that "most liberal" crap is just a smearmonger and a fascist, you fascist. Get over it, Obama will win and this country will get back on track. Loser.

McCain : Wrong Nominee
(Man the pop-ups on the Townhall site are annoying !)

Not that Grampa Grump will take advantage of Obama's many weaknesses. Let it always be said that Republicans would rather lose than fight. Why on earth would the Republican party expect loyalty when they have no interest in self-preservation? It's not just your own party members you are selling out with your misplaced chivalry. It's the cause of freedom. Remember Goldwater: "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice".

A vote
A vote for mccain/palin is a vote to nowhere.

Intellectual Dishonesty
The intellectual dishonesty coming from the "free market" right wing is incredible. Although it is a sign of the utter disgrace that is education in this nation, especially in the realm of history.

Your sad crutch of conservatism has been a given in every economic hegemon dealing with serious relative decline. Every few hundred years the same arguments come from the same braindead side in a different nation. And every time they are proven completely wrong.

Unfortunately for those, like you, with no knowledge of the course of human events, people stop listening to utter crap eventually. And just as has happened in every other global power before, the people are about to give the right one last parting gift on the way out the door...a giant middle finger.

Voting for Obama is scary
I can't believe how foolish and gullabile Americans are. They deserve what they get if they vote in NOBAMA.
If anyone listent to C-SPAN lat night after the debates. There were so many African Americans calling in saying, "that though I would like to make a historical vote this Nov. I don't think Obama is the right man to vote for.

Obama Ahead = Good
If Obama is 4-5 points ahead, the sluggish dems will not vote. They will rationalize that he is going to win, so why waste my time voting...they will win without me. Multiple that thought by thousands and that's why people are surprised when they lose and can't figure it out!

On the other hand, you will have Conservatives come out by the droves, seeking to overcome this obstacle.

scream liberal all you want
How many times can someone use the term liberal in one column. I lost count but it doesn't matter. Simply yelling "liberal" isn't going to get the job done. The country seems to be coming to the opinion that conservative governance isn't working. If McCain and republicans want to win, they had better start coming up with solutions instead of ideology. The Bush years have been a disaster. If McCain continues to make no real distinctions between Bush's policies and his own, he is going to lose. What we're doing isn't working and the people want something different.

What can win this election for McCain
I disagree with the basic premise of this article, namely, that Senator Obama's "liberal" record can still work against him and help McCain win this election. I lost count how of many times the article contained the word "liberal," but it is an old tactic that has lost its edge. The negative connotation of the idea of "liberalism" is not present with most younger voters. There are actually a growing number of Americans who are quite proud to call themselves liberal.

Likewise, the same tactics of "they'll raise your taxes, grow government wildly, and not protect the nation" just don't resonate with people anymore. Americans are not stupid. They understand that the current administration, a Republican administration, has presided over the largest increase in gov't and expansion of executive power in the history of the United States. I do believe there are many conservatives who are sickened by this, but the reality is that it is going to cost the GOP in the near-term. I expect the GOP, in terms of the presidential office, and the number of members in the House and Senate, is going to have to spend some time on the sidelines while they re-brand their ideology.

Obama Shares with Rev. Wright's View
It is an excellent article.

Obama's CLOSE FRIENDSHIP with Wright and JAILED BUSINESSMAN Tony Rezko over TWENTY YEARS is a SERIOUS PROBLEM

How could you explain that Obama sat in the pew of Rev. Wright, NOT ONE or TWO TIMES, BUT OVER TWENTY YEARS, unless he SHARES or AGREES WITH Rev. Wright's EXTREME VIEWS?

How about Obama's DEEP TIES with William Ayers who was FBI'S MOST WANTED for Dozen TERRORIST ATTACKS!
Do you know that Obama's FIRST FUND-RAISING EVENT FOR Illinois state Senate was held at TERRORIST William Ayers' HOUSE?

Let any one CONTACT MacCain campaign and suggest it focus on these SERIOUS problems about Obama.

GWB and then??????
I thought that GWB was an aberration. I thought something like that could not happen again. Then came Sarah Palin. Once again, in fact even more so that with "dubbya," H.L. Mencken comes to mind:

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

Divided Power

I agree with Bryd that people do enjoy divided power. I am no exception. However, it appears that the only way to divide the Supreme Court between conservative and liberal is to appoint liberal judges, to balance the court that we have all been given by the Bush administration . So, at least this time you are correct. Bring on the liberal judges.

You people are truly scary...
Sometimes it's good to read what the other side is saying, but everytime I do, I get more and more frightened by the hateful things I read. The lack of common sense some McCain-Palin supporters show is downright disturbing. If any of you think for one second our country will be better off with more years of war and hate, you couldn't be more wrong. Barack Obama speaks from the heart. He has common sense. He knows we can't all agree on everything. But for some of you to compare him to Satan or a sociopath...I just don't get that. Unless some of you are the very people making $250k + a year, I'm not sure why you're fighting against a change in leadership. The ignorance you demonstrate in these posts is staggering...but then again, Bill O'Reilly does have a big audience. What we need is compassion in this cournty. Compassion for others...our neighbors here and around the world. We have to restore our image. We are an amazing country, but Bush and his cronies have destroyed all that. Palin is no better...she's deceitful and an extreme opportunist. She has absolutely no substance. It's so nice to see Barack leading the polls and the majority of the nation coming to its senses.

MCCAIN/PALIN ONWARD TO VICTORY
As an indepdent, I voted for Obama in the primary, and I regret it. He promised "change" and' "Washington outsiders" and a "transcendence of politics of yesterday." His sexist and age biased attacks... choice of Joe Biden - a true Washington Insider, and lack of any new policies besides the usual liberal agenda have caused me to change my vote to McCain/Palin. Governor Palin solidified my vote last night, as she is new to the scene. I wanted to be sure she can handle it, and she exceeded all of my expectations. She did a terrific job, and most importantly, she truly understands what it is like for me as a middle class American.

America United “Out of Many One” Wins!
This video speaks volumes and delivers the passionate RAW TRUTH enlightening and awakening message - in an effort to free those whom stubbornly after so much evidence still have their heads stuck in the sand of denial for way too long - As said, "the truth shall set you free" - This 2008 election is NOT about Barack Obama/Joe Biden/DNP ticket winning, it's unequivocally all about AMERICA WINNING!

How is that Sarah Palin sat in church the week before being tapped by John McCain for VP and listened to David Brickner's hate speech. David Brickner, of "Jews for Jesus," said that day that terrorists attacks against Israel were God's "Judgment of Unbelief." Yes, the unapologetic Brickner believes that the Israeli's are themselves responsible for attacks against them because they have not adopted the proper faith. What's worse is the church pastor said, after the fact, that he would have Brickner back to speak again.

So my question: why is Sarah Palin not held to the same standard as Barack Obama. She was in church and listened to this absolute zealotry and has done nothing but issue a statement through McCain staffers that she disagreed with Brickner. Disagreed???!!!! My God, woman, that man is crazy. Throw him under the bus. How can you sit through that??!!

http://open.salon.com/content.php?cid=14888

Or is maybe a double standard being applied here? Had this occurred in Barack Obama's church, Sean Hannity would probably have had an aneurysm by now after yelling non-stop at America through the television about the dangerous radical Barack Obama.

I would like for her to at least come out and condemn that crazy man and explain how she can have such associations and still expect America to trust her :)

EXISTING DEMOCRAT TAX BILLS

45 TRILLION DOLLARS = Carbon credit Tax
1 TRILLION DOLLARS = Charlie Rangel’s Tax
845 BILLION DOLLARS = Obama’s To-The-UN Tax
76 BILLION DOLLARS = Obama’s gasoline tax
10 CENTS PER GALLON = Gasoline pump tax increase

WE THE PEOPLE PAY ALL TAXES, PERIOD!!!

Do a Fact Check
Its odd how people can just write without doing any fact check, this race is almost over when Mc Cain decided to leave Michigan, at this point Mc cain has surrender I figure he feels he is really to old for all this and voices from within the Republican party are telling him that it was a mistake to bring up Palin to the ticket ( the theory is that you cant bring anyone as a VP that shines more than you do thats why Obama didnt pick Hillary that was smart) she may appeal to the republican base but not to independents that can actually see her as plain dumb or at least very inexperienced, so at the end she took the main stage and not Mc Cain and she got real scrutiny from the press and to make matters even worse the campaing dont let her do interviews or press conferences, so the ONLY ones that are showing are the ones where she says the bail out is about healthcare, or that she dont know newspapers names, or she dont know the bush doctrine etc etc. but we dont see Mc Cain news or sometimes not even Obama news but Palin is the everyday talk and specially not positive talk (among independents... democarats laugh at her, republicans see her as the woman with rifle that kills Moose and has time to serve her family hot soup at the end of the day neither is right about her)
Now going to the fact check :
94 times !!!!!! c'mon there hasnt even been that much votes :
http://www.newsweek.com/id/144518
now something that is interesting is that the media wants this a close race because if they really wanted Obama to win they would already have talked about the Keiting Five (for those who dont know :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five
this is the mother of all deregulation cases and Mc cain was directly involved and he did take favors from keiting a man that defrauded millions of people this is all documented I really dont think nothing that Obama has done could hurt more that this but if they talk about it there is no more race.

McCain/Palin are DANGEROUS
I can't believe what I'm reading here on this site. Are you all crazy? How could you possibly vote for the McCain/Palin ticket? Do you want to be stuck in Iraq for at least the next 100 years? Don't you want a solution to the health care mess? Do you want four more years of BUSH? aka the guy who got us in this economic mess.

Honestly, wake up America!! The Republicans have failed!!! Period

OBAMA BIDEN '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: 'democrats to blame for economy'
Are you kidding?

The reason why we're in the fix we're in, as every single self-respecting economist will tell you, is because of the de-regulations in the banking industry set forth and put in place by President Reagan. The concept behind this was his 'trickle-down economics' theory, in that what's good for the rich will trickle down to the working class. This not only proved to be utter BS, but is precisely what has led us to our meltdown.\

Why do you continue to spread the same shameless, bald-faced lies over and over again to us?

We're sick of it, and we're the ones who get it in the back, and for the first time in my life I'm voting Democrat.

Plus I don't know what universe you're living in, but last I checked, Reagan was a Republican. I should know, I voted for him.

A repetition of incorrect facts!
This column is powerful - well written and as misleading as any Fox television news program. Obama voted for tax increases 90+ times - please do your fact-check - you will see that by the same standard, McCain voted for tax increases over 400 times but of course he has had a longer career. You state "democratic policies" are to blame for the financial crisis - really? Can you name a few? Or will you like Palin decide to simply go to "slogan land" and the land of american pie, patriotism, courage etc. etc. How frustrating. I thought this would be a really interesting column instead of a Republican Talking points memo.

Sincerely,
KS

Obama taught Strategy to ACORN

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully." Barack Obama, Dreams of My Father

Did Barack Obama chose the organizations he associated with as carefully?

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is a grassroots political organization.

ACORN invited Obama to help train its staff. Moreover, Obama eventually would sit on the Board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which gave a number of sizable grants to ACORN.

In April 2007 The Nation reported, “Today Obama continues his organizing work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the south side [of Chicago].”

1) ACORN is the largest radical group in America, with 175,000 dues-paying member families, and more than 850 chapters in 70 US cities.

2) ACORN is implicated in numerous reports of fraudulent voter registration, vote-rigging, voter intimidation, and vote-for-pay scams during the 2004 election.

In September 2008 the Board of Elections in Cuyahoga County, Ohio accused ACORN's paid workers, who had been tasked with registering as many pro-Democrat voters as possible, of submitting fraudulent voter-registration cards.

According to the Board, ACORN workers had commonly turned in separate cards with duplicate names but different addresses or different birth dates. Other cards listed people living at an address that was not a residence.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Attorney's office in Michigan indicated that it might prosecute ACORN for similar voter-registration scams in that state.

Obama and ACORN partnering in 'Voter Fraud' 'Change' and 'Hope' for America?

Barack Obama and ACORN

When watching the various investigations of ACORN by almost every state - remember Barack Obama and ACORN goes way back. ACORN = The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

"I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work." — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007.

ACORN is a private corporation that refuses to release its financial statements, NOT a Non-profit, yet Barack Obama made multiple grants to ACORN while with the Woods Foundation.

Those unemployed people,
who went to the Obamessiah for help in getting jobs, needed help because their employers were taxed out of business, and their jobs were taxed out of existence, BY DEMOCRATS.

The Obama ACORN partnership
On November 2, a federal grand jury in Kansas City indicted four ACORN employees for “knowingly and willingly” submitting false information to election authorities. The four allegedly submitted 15,000 fraudulent voter registration forms—including ones with fake names, signatures or addresses. The charge has maximum penalties of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

ACORN workers have been convicted of election-related offenses in Wisconsin and Colorado, and investigations have been launched in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

“There’s no quality control on purpose, no checks and balances,” Nate Toler, an ACORN organizer, told the Journal’s Fund. “The internal motto is ‘We don’t care if it’s a lie, just so long as it stirs up the conversation.’” He added, “I may have my head chopped off for telling the truth.”

That was a joke, right? Would you seriously call this journalism. How does this get online? Who takes this seriously? I was laughing while reading through it until I realized you were serious.

Mc Cain problem : lack of judgement
POINT NUMEBR 1 : KEITING FIVE READ WHOLE ARTICLE : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five
.....had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings. Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment"....
McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981,[11] and McCain was the closest socially to Keating of the five senators.[27] Like DeConcini, McCain considered Keating a constituent as he lived in Arizona.[25] Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.[28] In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.[7][29]
POINT NUMBER 2 : PALIN nice Lady energized the base but destroyed credibility for independents like me.
POINT NUMBER 3 : Fundamentals of the Economy flop show his as insensitive to the public sure he is and Mrs Mc Cain have a fortune of $120 million dollars.
POINT 3 : The 100 year war
Really I may have vote for Huckabee but nver for Mc Cain and not in a million years for Palin.

is this serious?
first of all, Clinton was initially elected in 1992, not 1996. He didn't advertise or run in North Carolina in 1996, conceding the state to Bob Dole.

He surely did not say the economy was in the tank in 1996.

If this naive commentary, with a bunch of recantation of the BS that Sarah Palin spouted on Thursday, is the best that townhall can do, maybe you should step aside too.

What a world we live in where Sarah Palin speak and this garbage suffice for legitimate discussions of the issues facing our country.

Cesar and judgment

Cesar do you think Barack Obama showed good judgment when he chose Joe Biden who received 9,000 votes in the primaries instead of Hillary Clinton who received 18,000,000 votes?

Kevin do you agree?

Is this all we have left?
I am a Reagan Era conservative.
If all we have left if Ayers, Rezko, "Hussein", Liberal, Muslim, and Reverand Wright, the race is over.
Guilt by associations argument isn't a winning one if you don't have any meat to hang on those bones. And there have been ten months to demonstrate Obama is a Manchurian Candidate Muslim, that he shares any views with William Ayers aside from ideas about improving education for children. He has successfully diffused Wright and Rezko. All that it left with any flesh and substance to it is Liberal. But no one has decided to ride that pony to victory, I guess because the Republican conservative brand is so damaged.

Please go away
You have to be kidding! McCain/Palin?! Four more years?! He can't keep his thoughts straight, and she has no cogent thoughts---only talking points.

Experience
Obama supporters see a vice-presidential candidate of the opposing party as having a frightening lack of experience, yet completely ignore that the top of the ticket for the Democrats has arguably less.

People that are not elitist see the Governor of Alaska as one of them; someone that actually cares about doing the job she was elected to do instead of seeing it as an affirmation of a narcissistic quest for power.

The essence of Gov. Palin's popularity is that people trust her instincts, as opposed to the kind of sneering condescension that faults Americans for not learning to speak Spanish, merci beaucoup.

Wrong Again
This column is exhibit A for my Obama will win. The "far left" and "extreme liberal" bogeyman has lost its ability to scare people. Most people don't remember the 1960s. Furthermore, even the most "liberal" Democrats of today, like Obama, would be considered centrists by 1960s standards. When it comes right down to it, the ideas and proposals that Obama is putting forward would just shift the country back to the center by historical standards. By contrast, conservatives have lost their intellectual power and have nothing left but the right-wing rhetoric of the past directed at liberals of a by-gone era

Bill Ayers - Carefully Chosen Friend
There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)

Bill Ayers is a carefully chosen friend of Barrack Obama. Born in 1944, Currently a professor of education at the University of Illinois.

Who is Bill Ayers?
------------------
1) Leader of the 1960s and 70s domestic terrorist group Weatherman. The Weatherman issued a 'Manifesto', calling for armed opposition to US policies, includig Capitalism and asked white radicals to launch a 'Race War' against 'White Skin Privilege'. Leaders like Mark Rudd (currently a mathematics professor at a New Mexico community college) traveled illegally to Cuba in 1968 for terroist training by Soviet KGB Colonel Vadim Kotchergine, who taught Marxist philosophy and urban warfare. Weather men always spelled America - 'AmeriKKKa'.

2) "Kill all the rich people. ... Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents." Bill Ayers

3) Participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972. Ayers proudly stated that he didn’t "regret setting the bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough."

"America is NOT a just and fair and decent place - it makes me want to puke." Ayers said in 2001

In the mid-1990s, Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn hosted meetings at their Chicago home to introduce Barack Obama to their neighbors during Barack Obama's first run for the Illinois Senate.

In 1999 Ayers joined the Woods Fund of Chicago, where he served as a director alongside Barack Obama until the Obama left the Woods board in December 2002.

Review of Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) documents shows that Ayers and Obama each chaired the two CAC operating bodies from 1995 to 2000.

Are all Radicals and Communists wrong?

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully." Barack Obama, Dreams of My Father

Did Barack Obama chose the choose the bloggers on his Campaign Website with as carefully?

Michael Klonsky (born 1943) is an American educator and political activist, a leader of the New Communist Movement.

Michael Klonsky, whose disgust for mainstream politics led him to launch a new, Maoist Communist Party in the 1970s, today supports Barack Obama so enthusiastically that until recently he was blogging on the Illinois senator’s Official campaign website.

“My own support for Obama is not a reflection of a radically changed attitude toward the Democratic Party, rather, it’s a recognition that the Obama campaign has become a rallying point for young activists and offers hope for rebuilding the civil rights and antiwar coalitions that have potential to become a real critical force in society.” Michael Klonsky.

Michael Klonsky is the former leader of SDS - Students for a Democratic Society.

Can every 'Radical' and 'Communist' in America be wrong about Barack Obama.

Important information from Factcheck.org
Palin's Small Business Balderdash

Palin repeated a falsehood that the McCain campaign has peddled, off and on, for some time:
Palin: But when you talk about Barack's plan to tax increase affecting only those making $250,000 a year or more, you're forgetting millions of small businesses that are going to fit into that category. So they're going to be the ones paying higher taxes thus resulting in fewer jobs being created and less productivity.
As we reported June 23, it's simply untrue that "millions" of small business owners will pay higher federal income taxes under Obama's proposal. According to an analysis by the independent Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, several hundred thousand small business owners, at most, would have incomes high enough to be affected by the higher rates on income, capital gains and dividends that Obama proposes. That counts as "small business owners" even those who merely have some sideline income from such endeavors as freelance writing, speaking or running rental properties, and who get the bulk of their income from employment elsewhere.

Obama - Radicals and Communists

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully." Barack Obama, Dreams of My Father

Who is Carl Davidson - who helped organize the rally in 2002 where the featured speaker was Barack Obama?

Carl Davidson, who was one of SDS’s three elected national officers in 1968.

1) Marxist anti-war activist.

2) Former member of Students for a Democratic Society.

3) Political supporter of Barack Obama.

Carl Davidson joined Michael Klonsky in rejecting traditional politics for fringe Marxist movements. More recently, he helped organize the 2002 rally in which Obama first spoke out against the Iraq War and now serves as the webmaster of Progressives for Obama.

In 1992 Davidson became a leader of the newly formed Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.

The organization has since changed its name to the 'Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism', where Davidson remains a prominent figure.

Davidson was a major player in the Chicago branch of the 'New Party', a Marxist political coalition.

Most New Party members hailed from the 'Committees of Correspondence', 'the Democratic Socialists of America', and the militant leftist organization ACORN.

Carl Davidson first met Barack Obama through the 'New Party', which endorsed the Barack Obama in his run for the Illinois state senate in 1996. Obama had actively sought this endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

Surely every Marxist, Socialist and Radical cannot be wrong about Barack Obama - can they?

The Cloward-Piven Strategy
http://www.newsmax.com/politics/obama_voter_fraud/2008/09/2 2/133091.html

"Their strategy to create political, financial, and social chaos that would result in revolution blended Alinsky concepts with their more aggressive efforts at bringing about a change in U.S. government. To achieve their revolutionary change, Cloward and Piven sought to use a cadre of aggressive organizers assisted by friendly newsmedia to force a re-distribution of the nation’s wealth."

"...to bring about a change..." Gosh, Obama calims he is for change, and yet refuses to clarify what he means by change. Could this be his vision of change?

"...to force a re-distribution of the nation’s wealth." Isn't a re-distribution of wealth part of Obama strategy?

Obama and Tom Hayden
By Tom Hayden
Progressives for Obama

"September 13, 2008 - A principle reason for Progressives For Obama is so that we can say things that the Obama campaign cannot or will not say.

This is one of those times.

1.Sarah Palin is a mortal threat to the possibility of Obama winning. The reason is simple: if she can add a couple of points to McCain from defecting white women and the newly-energized right wing religious base without losing more independent votes, McCain pulls ahead in some key states."

Who is Tom Hayden?
------------------

The Former SDS president Tom Hayden.

Michael Klonsky (former blogger on the Barack Obama official website) remembers Hayden plotting to spread nails on a highway; another SDS leader recalls Hayden encouraging activists to firebomb police cars.

“Today the Republican Party is directly carrying out the war, which obviously will make a lot of people favor changing the presidency despite the uncertainty of what the Democratic candidate will do when in office.” Tom Hayden

Can all of these radicals be wrong about Barack Obama?

Why do they hate Sarah Palin so much?

Obama Lies - The Alinsky Method
“I did not recall meeting Nadhmi Auchi at any time or on any occasion” Barack Obama
----------------------------------------------------------
Chicago Sun Times
April 15, 2008

BY NATASHA KORECKI, CHRIS FUSCO AND TIM NOVAK Staff Reporters

"Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama was again drawn into Tony Rezko's corruption trial on Monday, when the prosecution's star witness placed Obama at a party for an Iraqi-born billionaire who was later barred entry to the United States.

The government's star witness testified Monday that Sen. Barack Obama attended a party four years ago at the home of Antoin ''Tony'' Rezko that was held to honor Iraqi-born Nadhmi Auchi.

Stuart Levine testified under cross-examination that Obama and his wife, Michelle, attended the April 3, 2004, reception for Nadhmi Auchi.

Auchi -- who lives in London -- had been convicted of fraud in France in 2003. After visiting Chicago and Detroit in 2004, he wasn't allowed back into this country in 2005, according to a prosecution filing in the Rezko case.

The April 3, 2004, gathering to honor Auchi took place at Rezko's mansion in Wilmette, with about 100 people attending, Levine testified.

"Mr. and Mrs. Obama were there, were they not?" Rezko's lawyer, Joseph Duffy, asked.

"Yes, sir," Levine said."

In 2008 The Times of London reported the discovery of state documents in Illinois recording that a Panamanian company by the name of Fintrade Services lent money to a funderaiser for Obama in 2005. Fintrade’s directors included Ibtisam Auchi, the name of Mr Auchi’s wife. Spokespeople declined to answer when questioned about whether he was linked to this business.[6]

The Times also reported that Auchi's company loaned Tony Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Rezko's lot and Obama's new home were purchased in 2005

Is there anything Obama will NOT lie about?

Frank Marshall Davis - Obama Mentor

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)

When Barack Obama was about 10 years old his maternal grandfather thought that Obama needed a black man as a role model for his grandson - he chose Frank Marshall Davis.

1) Communist writer and poet (1905-1987)

2) Dedicated supporter of the Soviet Union and enemy of America.

Frank Marshall Davis (1905-1987) was a black poet and writer (he wrote for the Honolulu Record, a Communist newspaper), and a known member of the Soviet-controlled Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

Davis was identified unequivocally as a CPUSA member in a 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii (CSALTH), which, along with HUAC, also charged that Davis was affiliated with a number of communist-front organizations.

Davis penned many poems during his lifetime. One of them, titled "To the Red Army," hailed the Soviet revolution and condemned the "rich industrialists" in Washington DC and London who allegedly wanted Hitler and the Nazis to "wipe Communism from the globe."

Davis also wrote poems deriding traditional Christianity. In some of these compositions, Davis called Christ "a Dixie Ni**er" who was nothing more than "another New White Hope"; he derided Christians as hypocrites "who buy righteousness like groceries"; and he spoke of Africans being killed with a "Christian gun" by missionaries following "the religion of Sweet Jesus," rather than by a spear.

Obama would most definitely NOT have been considered a centrist in the 60's.

JFK had far more in common with McCain than with Obama. He was the first President to advance the idea that lower corporate taxes actually increased revenue to the Federal government.

Negotiation without condition with Castro or Kruschev would have been out of the question. Kennedy knew who the enemy was.

Obama and his Spiritual guide
Jeremiah Wright - Carefully Chosen Mentor

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)

Jeremiah Wright was carefully chosen by Barack Obama to 'Mentor' him and be his spiritual guide. Mentor Wright baptized Barack Obama, baptized the Obama children and performed the marriage ceremony betwee Barack and Michelle. On December 4, 2007, Wright was named as a member of the Barack Obama campaign's newly created African American Religious Leadership Committee.

Who is Jeremiah Wright?
-----------------------
1) Considers the U.S. to be a nation rife with racism and disrimination.
"Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run!... We [Americans] believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God."

2) Blames American racism for provoking the 9/11 attacks.
"In the 21st century, says Wright, "white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just 'disappeared' as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns."

3) Embraces black separatism theology and socialism.
Prior to the controversy sparked (in early 2008) by Wright's racially charged statements and by Wright's reference to Cone's influence on his thinking, the website of Wright's church identified Cone's writings as required reading for parishioners who wished to more thoroughly understand the church's theology and mission.

Mentor Wright became famous for 'God Damn America'.

Blame the democrats!
Wow; we've had eight years of the Bush white house and republicans controlling congress for 10 of the last 12 years and yet you still blame the democrats for the current fiscal mess? (Without, I note, explaining why?) That's impressive logic!
I am conservative through and through, but I can no longer call myself a republican. Thanks for so concisely reminding me why.

Bill Ayers summed up the organization's ideology as follows: “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.”

In his 2001 screed, Fugitive Days, Ayers recounts his life as a Sixties radical, his tenure as a Weatherman lieutenant, his terrorist campaign across America, and his enduring hatred for for the United States. “What a country,” Ayers said in 2001. “It makes me want to puke.”

Ayers stated: “There’s something about a good bomb … Night after night, day after day, each majestic scene I witnessed was so terrible and so unexpected that no city would ever again stand innocently fixed in my mind. Big buildings and wide streets, cement and steel were no longer permanent. They, too, were fragile and destructible. A torch, a bomb, a strong enough wind, and they, too, would come undone or get knocked down.”

All told, Ayers and Weatherman were responsible for 30 bombings aimed at destroying the defense and security infrastructures of the U.S. "I don't regret setting bombs, said Ayers in 2001, "I feel we didn't do enough."

Bill Ayers (Obama's work associate and friend) had no love for people, their property, not even his own parents. He hated America to the extent that he felt sick. His desire was to bring down people, buildings, and America.

What better way to fulfill his desires than to become associated with Saul Alinsky who sought to replace the our governmnet with a socialistic one.

It's ok not to listen to Hannity
Wow, in just the short time I spent reading this drivel Barack Obama was compared to Hitler, Kim Jung Il, Satan, a communist, a terrorist, a thuggish mobster. Could you people take a valium please? Your major problem in this final stage is that your arguments are old. Do you really think there is anyone left to be convinced Obama is not right for the country with Wright, Ayers, or Rezko? Hannity has been spouting that for the entire campaign now and it hasn't stuck. The only ones buying that crap are the drones that read this website on a constant basis. Ready all together now, take a deep breath and repeat after me.....President Barack Obama.

john (seems to have moved to NJ)
says "Wow, in just the short time I spent reading this drivel Barack Obama was compared to Hitler, Kim Jung Il, Satan, a communist, a terrorist, a thuggish mobster."

I guess I missed that.

The only one that I saw that fits your description is when Obama admitted that he is a Communist in the first of his autobiographies.

Does it not strike you as even slightly narcissistic that a man has TWO autobiographies before he reaches the age of 50?

Fred -- No WAY
you're a conservative. Never were, never will be. Not if you could consider voting for a thing such as Barak Obama, an inexperienced, socialist, snake oil salesman whose platform is "let me say this about that" while I rob you at gunpoint".

I hear "failed Bush policies" all the time, but never any specifics. The only thing Bush failed to do the last eight years was to halt the creep of corruption and thievery by Congress, the majority of them shameless Democrats.

Shame on you -- you're not even an accomplished astroturfer.

Fix Noise
If Obama is a left-wing nut as Ms. Byrd puts it then we have to conclude majority of Americans across our great land love left-wing nuts because every poll shows he is more popular than John-the fundamentals of our economy are strong- McCain. This life long Republican is voting for a left-wing nut, a psychopat and a nazi. I am secured in the knowledge that it won't get any worse than it is now under Bush and his pupet McCain.

John agrees with CPUSA on Obama
"This fight is winnable, and there is an actual strategy to win, a strategy that consists of more than playing at revolution and calling for chaos in the streets.

Right now the elections are the most critical form of struggle; this is where we have the best shot of finally breaking the back of the ultra right. Afterwards, we will continue to build a united movement that can work to establish a real electoral alternative, and eventually to challenge the system overall.

Of course, a Democratic victory in 2008 will not solve all the problems caused by so many years of ultra-right domination, or by capitalism in general.

Swells of young people agree and have already stepped up to the challenge in the Democratic primaries, voting in record numbers and refusing to accept the idea that these elections don’t matter. In Iowa alone, the youth turnout rate more than tripled from under 21,000 in 2004 to over 65,000 in 2008, and it quadrupled in Tennessee despite the devastating storms that ripped through on Super Tuesday. Similar situations have occurred in all Democratic primaries to date.

And there is something to be said for the movement of young people that surrounds Barack Obama.

This kind of victory, which would include a total Democratic sweep in November, could set the stage for higher forms of struggle for generations to come."

It can't get any worse
How can it possibly get any worse than the current economic policies? I'd vote for my own ultra-liberal 6-year-old son before I'd vote for someone who wants to keep doing what Bush is doing. Look out the window, we're on the brink of total economic disaster. Thanks for the warning, but I'll take my chances with Obama. At least he's got some different ideas than continuing on this miserable path.

What's New Here?
This is the same thing that has been spouted throughout the election. Anyone who doesn't know these things, isn't, and won't, pay attention. It's not like Obama popped up on the scene yesterday; this campaign has been going on for neigh on 3 years! Perhaps the polls aren't even a reflection, but a rejection. My guess is, this is the only election in the history of the country that Obama could win.

And Cathrine, that is at the very least dehumanizing. Obama is no more a "thing" than you are. Don't want to point out the obvious, but that's a step too far.

Obama's Downfall
There are several things that would bring Obama down if it was handled right.

If the media would treat Obama as they have McCain and Gov.Palin, that alone would do the trick.

Almost every thing Obama has been involved in would be a giant-killer if it was hammered to the voters as it should be.

The mainstream media decide what is news and what is not. If it is not in their favor to air it,they will sit on it. Mike Isikoff of Newsweek, had the Monica & Bill story and sat on it. Matt Drudge got wind of it and ran with it. The rest is history.

The media will not choose to cover any negatives against Obama / Biden. The Republicans have to do it for the press. Time is running out.

Economy
Sarah Palin is the CATALYST to turning this economy around.

She has a 80% plus favorable rating her state.

She will purge the corrupt and greedy individuals in the government. We should all agree there is always a bad apple in the bunch....she will detect and reject!

We need change - true change is a Washington Outsider! Please people - you are from the greatest country in the world...Show how smart you are and choose the McCain/Palin ticket.

Change?
Let me remind you, Change comes in Positive, and Negative.
I'm reminded of an old joke, (you never know your spouse until you meet them in Divorce Court) Well you won't know any candidate until you see them in action. Obama May be OK, Palin May be OK. Since all of you have a one track mind, Republican or Democrat, and thats going to spoil your hopes of any recovery for our nation. You've been warned, and you will still commit suicide. It's going to be an interesting year coming up.
I'm going to sit back and glote as I hear all of you complain, things are worse. The Republicans and Democrats have been in power for how many years?, and we continue to lose more jobs, and homes. I'm glad they haven't stopped making pennies, at least you'll have some Change in your pocket. Don Cordell could restore our nation, bring jobs back to you, stop imports from China, but then everything you go to buy in the store would say Made in the USA. Strange HUH? My motto, Make it in Mexico, sell it in Mexico. Make it in China, sell it in China. Make it in America for Americans.

Tell me what was said in-correctly.

I really do not care if you vote for Obama. Just do it with your eyes open.

The Left Stream Media will not report any of this because LSM is in bed with Obama. If LSM is where you get your information, then your info is tainted. But what do you care?

Change?
Remember those who previously wanted Change got Communism, Facism, Socialism, and other ism's. Everything but Freedom, Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

FOOL’S.. CONGRESS JUST HANDED…..
...OBAMA the keys to the White House!!!!!!!

RUM????

Wooden Arrows????

Overwhelming American’s that said “DO NOT PAS THIS!” ????

Unemployment now over 10%????

You’re kidding right????

Congress handed him the keys!!!!

Country First
What country first means to McCain supporters and what it means to a thinking man are two different things. To a thinking man country first means putting the interest of the majority before that of corporations and the wealthy; it also means ending the misguided war in Iraq and saving American tax payers $10 billion a month in the time of great financial crisis. If John McCain is really sincere about putting his country first he shouldn't have caved to the extreme in his party and chose Sara Palin as his Vise Presidential candidate instead of his life long friend and a modrate Joe Liberman. By basing his decison not on sound judgment but expediency John McCain put his political ambition before his country. Sara Palin bless her heart is a nice and charming lady but she is way out of her league, pardon the expression.

Community Organizer

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/barack_obama_and_the _strategy.html

ACORN, the new tip of the Cloward-Piven spear

In 1970, one of George Wiley's protégés, Wade Rathke -- like Bill Ayers, a member of the radical Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) -- was sent to found the Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now. While NWRO had made a good start, it alone couldn't accomplish the Cloward-Piven goals. Rathke's group broadened the offensive to include a wide array of low income "rights." Shortly thereafter they changed "Arkansas" to "Association of" and ACORN went nationwide.

Today ACORN is involved in a wide array of activities, including housing, voting rights, illegal immigration and other issues. According to ACORN's website: "ACORN is the nation's largest grassroots community organization of low-and moderate-income people with over 400,000 member families organized into more than 1,200 neighborhood chapters in 110 cities across the country," It is perhaps the largest radical group in the U.S. and has been cited for widespread criminal activity on many fronts.

ACORN is in Chicago. Wasn't Obama a 'Community Organizer'?

Change comes in many flavors. In the case of Obama's change, it might come in the flavor of a 'crap sandwich'.

But, hey, if your not too picky, what's the big deal?

Obama's Downfall
I was surprised by your article. Every 4 years, Republicans call whoever the Democratic nominee is to be the most liberal person in Congress. They did that to Kerry and Gore before him. I hope the American people will not buy garbage any longer. I was also surprised to read that you think that Democratic policies are to blame for our economic problems. Granted the Dems control both houses but did not do so until 2006. From 2000 to 2006 the Republican controlled both houses. Only an ill informed person could make the type of claim you made. Give us more credit.

BTW

did you notice that ACORN originated in Arkansas as the "Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now". You don't suppose that the Clintons were touched by this stuff do you?

Read the article.

Eric
Guess who was also mentioned in the article.

Eric

"Granted the Dems control both houses but did not do so until 2006."

And immediately after that gas prices started up to $4/gal.

Prior to that BushII tried to warn of the coming meltdown followed by McCain in 2005 only to have any attempt of correction promptly block by ... The Liberals.

And did you know that ofter 2 years as a US Senator, BHO was the second leading recipient of cash from Fannie/Freddie.

But, hey, what do facts have to do with anything?

Eric
In case you forgot,a senator has a record and that record can be checked. He cannot deny how he voted. He is,indeed, the most liberal.

Evidently you haven't seen the film of the dastardly Democrats like Waters,Frank,Meeks,Clay etc.,saying over and over that Fm & Fm was in no trouble and of course it was racist to try to change it because it helped minorities.

As an American citizen, you are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. Try to be honest....it will serve you well in the long run.

Matt -- "Thing" Is Accurate
Calling a PR-creation such as Obama a "thing" is a "step too far"? Be still my heart, what a slam.

Obama is a sociopath who got enough coin to buy a competent, but dishonest, media consultant. Obama says nothing different that Axelrod's prior clients, and every bit of that faint-inducing rhetoric is meant to appeal to the weak minded. Just words, just words.

At least Gore is just crazy, and Kerry is a spoiled lightweight who could ONLY get elected in Massachusetts.

I know of no other Presidential candidate who could post an endorsement by the Communist Party on their web site and get away with it. Who do you think is pulling Obama's strings?

Lorrie Byrd is correct -- he can be taken down by the truth. And, if you have known about Obama, his odious friends and his dubious accomplishments for so long, then why would you still defend the indefensible?

Since California is on the brink of bankruptcy, again, perhaps we should just create a separate liberal state there. Without conservatives to blame or fight, utopia would swiftly follow. Of course, getting a square meal, a place to live or a decent job might be a problem.

Puzzled
Let me make sure I get the point: Obama is a mega-liberal and if he wins, he'll have a far out left agenda. I believe that. After all, today he voted for what amounts to socialization of the banking industry. But wait - John McCain voted the same way. See where I'm going with this?

Economic crisis and welfare reform
Lorie, it looks like you simply won't give democrats credit for anything good, nor will you hold republicans accountable for anything bad.

You say Clinton only supported welfare reform when he was backed into a corner and that republican legislators should get the credit.

You say our current financial crisis is due to democratic policies, even though we've had a republican president for the last 7.5 years and a republican congress most of that time. They are blameless?

You alude to Obama's extreme liberal record but there are no specifics behind that and it strikes me as simply scare-mongering. Obama's team have talked about keeping Robert Gates on as defense secretary, and Paulson at treasury. Hardly extreme liberal moves.

Most of Obama's policies are supported by moderates and even conservatives (more diplomacy, increasing military activity against Al Qaeda, tax breaks for people earning less than 150K a year, fixing a broken, out-of-control healthcare system, etc.). McCain seems to be against all of these things.

Your readers should try to unburden themselves of a programmed notion that republicans = good, democrats = bad. Look at what policies are needed to make our lives better, and make our country stronger and healthier, and ask yourself who is promoting them and who is not.

Vintage Republicanism
This has a strangely familiar effervescence, reminiscent of the paranoia of the days of Nixon, but filled with the putrid sweetness of the mania of the age of Reagan, and yet somehow still vapidly empty as the last eight years of Bush. This article has a peculiar bouquet that shall probably not occur again (after the coming election) for several generations.

Losers walk
Eight years of bungling arrogance has finally come home to roost. It is most enjoyable watching the GOP come undone. The lies and spin are getting wildly desperate and McCain looks like he can barely keep it together. The truth won out, folks-- blame yourselves for voting for Bush and Cheney-- you destroyed your own party! The election's over, McCain-- losers walk.

There Has Been Bamboozling
A Mile Wide and an Inch Deep Uses Retread Rhetoric

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y7OFLl3asg

Democrats, you cannot get over your BDS. It's as if US history began in 2000 and a Democrat controlled Congress for the last two years doesn't exist. But, you have accepted the benefits of a Bush Administration, such as not being attacked again and a pretty good economy until the Democrats let Freddie/Fannie get out of control (oh, yeah the Democrats own this and there will be perp walks). At least Obama made his millions during the Bush years.

Now, shockingly, we find there are no fresh and inspiring words from the heart of Obama. Just a formula that seems to work on the weak minded from a gifted spinmeister. Ironically, he's not the first to spin these words.

Oh, yeah, there has been bamboozling.

Liberal Bromide
Has anyone else noticed how online comments from liberals - and letters to newspapers - have turned into nothing more than an exercise in creative writing to see how poetically they can express their hatred of Bush, Republicans and conservatism in general? They say the same thing over and over and over again. We get it libs - you despise anyone who doesn't agree with you. You hate capitalism, Bush is a fascist, every single one of your rights has been destroyed, you are living in Nazi Germany, McCain is Bush II, Palin is a scary monster who terrifies you, every opinion except yours is "spin" from "Fox News"...and other such childish bromides, again and again and again and again.

And these are the people who claim to represent "change" and "the way forward". You might want to do something about that stuck record first.

Brilliant Article, Lorie
I've been trying to get the same message across for the past week. Instead, I titled it--Why I am Skeptical of the Undecided/Independent Voters. If Independents are who they say they are--in the middle on issues and researched, then they would have to vote for McCain/Palin for the reasons you state in your article. They would have to like 100% of what Obama stands for to vote for him due to the balance of power of the four (I add the media here) branches of government on the very liberal left. If there are any issues they oppose of Obama's do they really think he'll compromise on them. If they think for one minute that Obama would be a central leader they are kidding themselves. Not with the liberal power he'll have to back him up. Remember, while McCain was in Washington giving a voice to taxpayers and House Republicans, Obama was squelching voices in Missouri and requesting NRA ads be taken down. He does not allow dissenting voices and is taking away our freedom of speech. He could be the most powerful liberal President in our nation's history which is very worrisome for someone we know so little about. He has kept valuable information from reporters and the public about his questionable past. Undecideds and Independents better do their homework and study his past and his liberal record as you state. Especially try to determine what a 'community organizer" does.

english
'liberal' means free. despite what this essay would have you believe, it is not an inherently disparaging word, unless you're opposed to, well, liberty.

the ubiquitousness of this misunderstanding- that this writer can simply call obama 'liberal,' and offer no specific criticism aside from that- testifies to the fact that punditry and spin have corrupted America's ability to digest and interpret political discourse. everyone's so confused about which way is up, it's no wonder we've managed to elect such intellectually substandard leaders- the ultimate manifestation of which would be this recently celebrated pitbull in lipstick.

why do many Americans vote for people who remind them of themselves rather than for people who should inspire them to make themselves better? why has it become a liability to have been educated at Harvard and an asset to have demonstrably eschewed intellectual endeavor and nuanced understanding of the world? why is 'liberal' a slanderous adjective? which way is up?

Obama supported by moderates?
Chris:

The only "moderates" and conservatives I know who are supporting Obama are the ones who know next to nothing about basic economics and who have never been in business. I currently employ 4 people and am looking to expand. Because of the nature of my business currently I make less money now than I did when I worked alone - but I do have a solid base from which to grow, which is my aspiration. Yet the way things are looking under Obama's tax plan I'm going to be hit hard because of my annual revenues, even though I'm not currently taking much of an income myself.

I've tolerated a low income for the last 9 months because I really enjoy being an employer for the first time in my life and the potential is there to expand. But I cannot afford any further cut in income - and if Obama is elected, I'm going to have to either take that hit, or let my employees go and return to working alone. In the words of my accountant last week: "vote for McCain, that's all you can do."

I despise the way the left despises small business owners like me who have plans and aspirations to expand. 60% of Americans are employed by small businesses, huge numbers of which will be hit by Obama's tax hikes.

Obama dangles a carrot in front of the "middle classes" and tells them that he has their best interests at heart - and they believe him. Yet what Obama doesn't say is that he doesn't have their employers best interests at heart.

Randolph & English
You can define liberal any way you wish. In American politics, it has come to mean "socialist."

How does a liberal inspire you to be better? At least, without it being at someone else's expense (literally). Here's what liberals think of you:

"For decades, Americans have been told to act for ourselves, by ourselves, on our own. Democrats reject this recipe for division and failure." It's in the 2008 Democratic Platform.

Conservatives want small government that allows you the freedom to succeed in whatever you pursue. That's inspiring.

Lining up at the public trough and waiting for "It Takes a Village" to kick in the benefits is not inspiring.

Liberal does not mean liberal anymore.
randolph:

First of all, we can take as given that the word "liberal" now is generally taken to mean "left wing".

There was a time when "liberal" had something to do with "liberty", but not any more. Sometime in the 60's the word was hijacked by the Marxist/socialist element of the Democratic movement - because of course the word "Marxist" is rightly associated with the slaughter of hundreds of millions of people and is akin to (worse than) the word "Nazi" to anyone who understands history.

Classic liberals, who were worthy of the name, were in essence libertarians who believed not only in social liberty (within in the confines of the rule of law) but also in the economic freedom which made this country what it is.

Today's left wing "liberals" only support "liberty" for their own politically protected tribes - women, gays, minorities etc - while doing everything they can to oppose economic liberty, and whatever they can to oppose freedom of speech when they deem it "politically incorrect".

I wish it were that classical liberals would reclaim the word from the left wingers who stole it - but alas I believe it is too late now.

Further - it is not a "liability" to have been educated at Harvard - but it is a liability to come from a far-left radical background surrounded by communists and people who hate America. Given that so many academics roll in this leftist mindset, it's less likely than ever that it's going to be considered an "asset", put it that way.

Let's look at some actual facts, OK?
First, the "most liberal" canard that Lorie repeats ad nauseum is based on a very flawed set of assumptions by the National Journal. And, even following their own wierd logic, Obama really is only somewhere in the top 20 of liberals; the NJ's skewed rating system always makes presidential candidates slide to the end of the spectrum because they tend to miss votes where the result is foregone and where they would have voted the "other" way; McCain would have been rated the most conservative had he showed up often enough to even vote. Fancy that. Here's the detailed analysis:

http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?id=08c25e0a-9b88-49a 6-97f5-45114f3fff28

Second, I thought this article was going to be about the "significant factors that could still lead to his undoing". But, as I read the article, I see that the public doesn't really care much anymore about the non-issues (i.e., those that don't relate to Obama's officials duties) that still drive conservatives crazy -- i.e., Rev. Wright. And, after McCain's silly season attack ads and "pig lipstick" on the eve of the economic meltdown, the public's appetite for any focus on small issues in the midst of a big crisis is gone. He's cried wolf too often.

Oh, and the "thugs" threatening to sue or prosecute people who criticize Obama? I assume you're talking about the non-story Drudge propogated about public officials in Missouri who made it very clear that they would do nothing more than speak up to refute smears (a la "Obama is a Muslin") that ignoramuses might try to disseminate to the unwary. That ... is ... all. No threats were made. Please view the actual news story, and get your facts straight, please. http://www.kmov.com/video/index.html?nvid=285793&shu=1

Trump Card
I too am frustrated that the GOP is not doing more to explain Obama's association with Wright, Ayers, support for killing babies that have been born, willingness to negotiate with terrorists, not funding the troops, and the economic disaster that leads right to Barney Frank's, Chris Dodd's, and Barack Obama's doorsteps respectively. There is so much more that could be said, but this suffices for now.

I think, and I'm simply guessing here, that the GOP will unleash this in the final two to three weeks before the campaign. When you're playing cards, you hold your trump card until you're really ready to use it.

There is a great You Tube video out called "Burning Down the House." If you haven't seen it, go to You Tube and search for it. Forward it to your friends. The more people we can get the message to on this, the better. It details exactly whose to blame for the financial mess we're in.

Balance
I agree with the major premise here, which is 4 years of a DEM Prez and Congress is no different than what we experienced under Bush for 6 years. When one party has total control, we have a dictatorship and we have already experienced how Obama operates, as pointed out in this story. Maintaining a balance of power will give us the change we need.

I cannot fathom how the voters can vote for Obama with Congress having a rating worse than George Bush. People believe that the Democratic Congress is worse than George, yet are moving toward electing a President of the same party, which gives the Democrats even more power, absolute power to a group we don't even approve of.

The adding of all the pork to an "emergency bill" should serve as a dire warning. With the "mandate" as suggested by this story, all we know about America and her Constitution could change. Remember that Obama already joined with Bush to invade our privacy without a warrant. And suppression of dissenting news has already been pointed out.

Russia is in our backyard forming alliances with Venezuela and Cuba. Having already sold billions of dollars of arms to Chavez, Putin has extended a billion dollar line of credit to Chavez for even more purchases, and has made an agreement to help Hugo Chavez develop nuclear energy "for peaceful purposes". FOXNEWS is the only MSM to Headline this story, but it quickly disappeared. After all, any foreign policy issue is a negative for Obama.

So we head into an unknown future, with known possibilities where choice will open and close doors. So as the knight in Indiana Jones said, " Chose wisely."

Obama's Chances
Lorie: I appreciate your clear writing and point of view but get a grip, girl!

The current economic disarray is due to the Democrats? Clinton signed into law the repeal of the Glass-Stegall Act but the architecht of the "modernization" of commercial banks and investment banks was Phil Gramm, Sen. McCain's main economic advisor. The lack of regulation of mortgages and creation of mortgage backed securities is not a "democrat" idea.

Obama's tax plan is rough on small businesses? That's like saying his tax plan is rough on Americans when 95% of them (everyone but the top 5% of earners annually) will get a tax cut.

Really, I expect more of you. Just because Townhall.com is a "conservative" site does not mean its commentators should resort to distortion of the facts that play to an anti-liberal bias. There are plenty of reasons to prefer McCain over Obama just as there are plenty to prefer Obama over McCain. But don't spin - we've had enough of that from Washington and the media. Try telling the truth, the WHOLE truth and nothing but the truth. It's a whole lot more becoming ... and honest.

GOP and Dem tax plans
Lori -- You talk about that old Bill Clinton ad as just political hot air, but don't forget Clinton did end welfare as we knew it. Assuming the current candidates will also do what they say, see how tax experts analyze their proposals:

"The nonpartisan Center for Tax Policy completed an updated analysis this month with examples of how a variety of taxpayers would fare under each candidate’s plan. In general, Mr. Obama’s plan would cut taxes the most for those at the bottom of the income scale and reduce them as well for those in the middle, but raise them significantly for those at the very top.

While Mr. Obama would make permanent certain parts of the Bush tax cuts that are set to expire in 2011, individuals earning $200,000 or more a year and families earning more than $250,000 — about 2 percent of the population — would see their tax bills rise.

Mr. McCain’s proposal is simpler. Trying to spur economic growth, it cuts taxes across the board, for corporations as well as individuals, but provides relatively little relief for people at the bottom, more moderate benefits for those in the middle than Mr. Obama’s proposal, and large breaks for those at the top.

As for the cost, fiscal monitors have raised questions about the impact of both plans on the budget deficit, with Mr. McCain’s appearing to add the most to the national debt."

(from the Washington Post, 10/3/08)

no time for ignorance
Obama simply can not cut taxes for 95% when only 65-70% pat taxes now.

Obama can not call it a tax cut when tax rates will be the same and in fact go up when the Bush tax cuts expire.

How educated folks can go on repeating this "tax cuts for 95%" mantra is beyond me. Surely at least one Obama supporter is educated. I am beginning to think not. I certainly haven't seen any evidence to prove me wrong.

Eligibility
Factors that Could Lead to Obama's Downfall? How about this one that you completely missed:

Berg vs. Obama

Goto plaintiff's website http://www.obamacrimes.com and you will find a complete discussion of this lawsuit and it's current status. But in a nut shell, the issue is that Obama is probably not by technical definition, a "natural American" (which is a constitutional requirement for POTUS).

correction
I meant to say "natural born American"

Laugh out Loud
Wow, I feel scared to even be in this box...

What can I say, that was a near thoughtless, "reaching for straws" (though futile perhaps coined as "hope"-ful assertion) piece of writing I have seen.

I feel like I am deep in the trenches of the "no-spin zone".

It is great to know how poorly McCain is doing (meaning the handle of the campaign by his brass). Dispite the fact that the RW curveball is effective enough to have 12% of America (most of which is "south of the mason-dixon line") thinks that today, Obama is a muslim (oh and by the way those same people bring up Rev Wright at the Wafflehouse after church on sunday afternoon, as if lack of attention span is justification enough to have it both ways), yet dispite this fact he maintains a significant lead (near landslide territory).

Sorry to all NeoCLowns who share a tragic brand name concept of patriotism and statesmanship.

And I want everyone to practice saying it "President Obama"

QED

Obama supported by moderates?
William:

Congratulations on your growing business and best of luck with it. Question: Do you provide health care coverage for your four employees? If so, you may want to look at McCain's plans in that area.

It looks to me like he will make your employees pay income tax on that coverage. That can't be a good thing for your business. This could be a huge issue for you. Check out Obama's plan and consider whether this will actually be much friendlier for your expansion plans.

Again, back to my main point: too many people have cemented in their heads the idea that democrats = bad, republicans = good. Look deeper and think about what's really going to help you and the country.

check yourself before you wreck yourself
i understand this is an opinion piece, but I feel like a large number of voters this time around are becoming reasonably well-educated about things, which is why it upsets me that you misstate so many things! does obama have a lot of weak spots? of COURSE. but please present them properly!!!

94 votes against lower taxes? not even. and i quote, "The majority of the 94 votes – 53 of them, including some mentioned above – were on budget measures, not tax bills, and would not have resulted in any tax change. Four other votes were non-binding motions related to conference report negotiations."
--factcheck.org

come ON! members of the media, at least check your facts before presenting them as truth!

You'll Be Sorry
Obama has said outright in his autobiographies that he puts on a suit and a smiley face and talks soothingly to manipulate people. He cites doing it to fool his mother into believing he wasn't a coke-head, and doing it to the non-African-American community to make them feel comfortable with him, despite the anti-American, anti-white, Afro-centric rhetoric that he himself spews in the books, and adheres to through his friends Wright, Ayers, et al. He is a total phony and - yes, it looks like he'll be out next president - but you regular liberals (not the commie kind) and independents will be sorry when he is. So go ahead and gloat. You hate Bush so much that you'll throw America under the train to "get" Republicans (whose main problem was that they threw conservativism under the bus).

By the way, why is it that the economy was doing fine until the Democrats took Congress?

GOP: try thinking for a change
that wasn't even clever. Why do you waist your time. Loser ideas, loser candidates, and loser tricks--even dumb people realize how ridiculous your efforts are.

Obama's stratagy
Obama comes to Asheville, NC tomorrow, Sunday October 5. Asheville is the "San Francisco of the east,a very liberal college town. The New York Times owns the newspaper. Outside of downtown is a very conservative base of working folks that were against the bailout and love Sarah Palin. Any news coming out of here that NC is for Obama will be highly slanted. NC is a state that could go either way and went Red in 2000 and 2004. Obama wants it to appear that he is winning by showing up in a High School Stadium in black section of town. All fluff and no substance.

Be At Peace
Be at peace GOP, there is a God in heaven and the McCain/Palin ticket WILL WIN!

Reasons to Vote Against Obama
Ok, so maybe you can't think of reasons to cast a vote FOR mcCain. Here's a litmus test: ask yourself these questions, then see which candidate you feel more comfortable with:

1. Of McCain or Obama, which is the more likely to keep his campaign promises?

2. Of McCain or Obama, which one would you trust to back you up in an alley if your life were in danger?

3. Of McCain or Obama, which one is most likely to preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution?

4. Of McCain or Obama, which would be more likely to use mob rule to influence his agenda?

5. The time is 2012. There has been a coup d'etat and there are no more presidential elections. The president elected in 2008 has just been granted a lifetime dictatorship. Was it McCain or Obama?

Most Liberal Voting Record In The Senate
I agree and thank you for pointing this out. I can't understand why the people running the McCain campaign aren't hammering this fact every day in every market. Well maybe not Boston and Manhattan, but everywhere else in this country.

Misleading/Incorrect Assertions
"Barack Obama has voted against tax cuts or for tax increases 94 times"

This statement is misleading and inaccurate as stated by Factcheck.org.

Given that before posting, no care is given to ensure that the facts are presented, this discredits the comments made Lorie Byrd!

6 Reasons to Vote For Obama
1) He chose not to leave his wife at the lowest point of her life for an heiress/drug addict

2) He doesn't pretend to support veterans and then vote against them
http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com

3) He didn't graduate 3rd from the bottom of his class

4) He doesn't believe that rape victims actually "like it" and has never referred to wife as the "c" word

5) He can actually remember his address because he doesn't have 8

6) He's not 100 years old, 5 feet tall with a Betty Boob wanna be as a running mate!!!! (eye wink)

Is "liberal" a dirty word?
While it may have been a dirty work eight years ago, "McBush" has supplanted it for slime or better put cleansed the term liberal.

Nice try but it won't work. Be careful of whom you associate Obama with. McCain's got a whole lot worse, and some of them work for him.

People Without Jobs Do Not Pay Taxes
Mrs. Byrd's arguments are simply not credible because they are not based in fact. She has not explained how Democrats are to blame for the current economic crisis when the cause was deregulation, a Republican ideological staple. She has lied with regards to her claims about Obama hurting small business, as only 5% of small businesses earn enough money ($250,000) to face tax increases under Obama's tax plan. She has also omitted the fact that her "Obama raised taxes 94 times" is an outright lie, which was debunked by the nonpartisan organization factcheck.org. However, let's [wrongly] assume that this were true. Should we worry about incremental tax increases, when it appears that soon a significant percentage of people will not have jobs? America lost 160,000 jobs this month. Our national unemployment rate is in excess of 6%, and in many areas, this rate is much higher. In case you didn't know, people without jobs do not pay taxes.

Mrs. Byrd, your worst nightmare is about to come true. A black liberal intellectual is up by approximately 10% in national polls, and is leading in most swing states. None of the "factors" you described will likely change this trajectory. And what is worse for you, the American people no longer seem to be buying the kool-aid that Republicans have been selling us all these years.

6 Reasons to Vote For Obama?????????????

1) He chose not to leave his wife at the lowest point of her life for an heiress/drug addict

Kim, were I married to you I might consider divorce too. I would definitely be seeking someone with the ability to think rather than emote.

2) He doesn't pretend to support veterans and then vote against them
http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com

No, he just does not support the troops at all. He, in fact, supported a surrender at all costs.

3) He didn't graduate 3rd from the bottom of his class

Right again. He did NOT even attend a military school but rather an institution of higher liberalism.

4) He doesn't believe that rape victims actually "like it" and has never referred to wife as the "c" word

Huh??? He doesn't even think that babies born alive despite all efforts to kill them should be granted the right to life.

Last 2 of 6

5) He can actually remember his address because he doesn't have 8

So he didn't marry an heiress who owned multiple homes. He did marry a shrew who hated America all her life - only to be proud of America for the 1st time. I bet he now wishes he did marry that heiress, if not now maybe by Nov 5.

6) He's not 100 years old, 5 feet tall with a Betty Boob wanna be as a running mate!!!! (eye wink)

Stop pointing to his inexperience. That is rude and not PC. After all, the LSM recognizes his messiah-ness why shouldn't everyone? And as far as 'Betty Boop', thy name is Jealosy. 'Betty Boop' is a beauty pageant winner and your not. 'Betty Boop' was a mayor and a governor and you never ran. 'Betty Boop' is applying for the 2d highest executive office of the land and you are n ot even a benchwarmer - but you are the water-carrier for a communist.

Kirsten

1) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are products of Democratic congresses.

2) Any attempts by Republicans to rein-in Fannie and Freddie were blocked by Democrats.

3) Fannie and Freddie made bad loans (loans to poor people who could not repay them).

4) Those loans were bundled and sold on the markets.

5) Those loans had the implied backing of the US Gov.

6) Anyone touching those loans were poisoned.

7) Someone (don't know who) dumped huge amounts of holdings onto the markets causing a panic.

8) Add it all together and we have our current mess.

Somebody hates America. Let's see... Russia, China, all Islam, N. Korea, Europe, et al. Anyone of them (or a comination) could dumped on Wall Street to trigger what happened.

I want to know why the Democrats started Fannie/Freddie in the 1st place, why the Democrats resisted any/all attempts at correction in the 2d place, and why they thought the bailout was such a good idea in the 3d. Do they hate America too?

economic policies are Dems fault !!!
"Now we have an economic situation that both candidates agree is one of the most dire our country has faced. In spite of the fact that Democratic policies are largely to blame, the unpopular sitting Republican President and his party are going to be saddled with the majority of the blame."

The above is completely laughable! You folks slay me. We've had a Republican presidency for 20 of the last 28 years, and Congress has been OWNED by the Republicans for 12 of the last 14 years.....and somehow you always manage to blame everything on "liberal Democrats". Time to wake up and look in the mirror, folks. Your philosophy is bankrupt, having depended COMPLETELY on borrowed money to make it "work" for the wealthy. Reagan and W together have borrowed more money that all other president COMBINED. It is smoke and mirrors, pure and simple.

So, Rick,
What have the Democrats done lately that was right? For that matter, what have they ever done that was right?

What Lorie isn't saying.
He's black. He's black. He's Black. All of us bigoted southerners ought to be owning these people, not letting them into government! That is what she is really hoping will bring Obama down. Since the rest of her "unbelievably" biased piece uses half-truths and misquotes to try to scare voters. Using the same metrics that create Obama voting 94 times to raise taxes, means that McCain voted well over 400 times to raise taxes. But, oh, Lorie wouldn't want to mention that, because that would be actually evaluating the candidates fairly. What she isn't saying is that John McCain made a brilliant political stunt in choosing Sarah Palin, and in pulling off that stunt, he endangered the entire country and the entire world by choosing someone who is less qualified to be President than any high school political science teacher. This tells us how McCain would govern. Shooting from the hip, lack of planning, publicity stunts and whimsical choices based on gut feeling rather than reasoned and balanced intellect. We've just had eight years of this kind of bad judgement, and I, for one, don't want any more.

more of the same.
More blame shifting to Clinton. Do Republicans ever take responsibility for what happens while they're in office, including the largest tax raises in history, voodoo economics and an end to the personal responsibility of delayed gratification?

I'm sick to death of the same bogus factoids, flawed logic and rewrites of history you folks have foisted on a manipulated electorate since the Reagan era. Sorry, but while the American public may not wise up when they should, they eventually see the bull for what it is.

Watch it, Karl Rove and Co.! Those who live by the BIG LIE die by the BIG LIE. Even middle aged white men are going to see the BIG LIE for what it is when you good old boys fail to protect them from the economic catastrophe affecting everyone else.

Other factors that may help
I think there are some othere factors that could help McCAin defeat Obama. Like Congress, many are unhappy with news media, especially in how its deals with our veep. The double standard is becoming more apparent and as more and more people see that they are so supportive of Obama, and so ready to dump on Palin, that may produce a backlash.
Secondly, it seems that for many people, the support for Obama is weak. Absent is the NAACP, Black Caucus, and others. It seems like he has fallen from being the Messiah to becoming the de facto candidate.
Lastly, BOth he and Biden are about as inside as one can get. If that can be shown then, it challanges his power to evoke change.

Peter and Larry

Peter, Obama may be "black" (as you say), but the reason I will not vote for him is because he is a communist. He believes in big, big, huge government. He believes that his big government is the answer to our problems.

I believe in much smaller un-intrusive government. I believe that government IS the problem. That is why I will not vote for him.

Now, if you vote for him simply because he is "black" (as you say), then quite possibly it is you who is the racist.

Deal with it.

Larry, you think that this is a case of "shifting blame".

Why should Republicans accept blame for Fannie, Freddie, CRA, denying a coming failure, stone-walling, obstruction and blockage?

Should Republicans ever accept blame for the Democrats failures? I hope not. One problem I see is your failure to accept facts.

I suggest you go to Thomas Sowell's article. Facts are facts. You can make up your own interpretations, but you cannot makeup your own facts.

If you really do not like the facts that we bring up, then why do you come here? Is somebody holding a gun to your head? Because, truly, you do not convince anyone here. You are wasting your time.

WILL "OTHER FACTORS" DERAIL OBAMA?
People:

Are we forgetting that Obama has refused to release his birth certificate...and I mean a REAL ONE, not the forgery posted on the left-wings sites, like the Daily Kos?

What is this guy hiding???? If he has nothing to hide, settle Philip Berg's lawsuit out of court by just releasing it. Otherwise, those of us who believe that he may not be qualified to assume office have something we can believe in...that's he's not an American Citizen!

Some reality for a change....
Lori,

I was raised in a Southern Republican household, and even stupidly voted for a few when I was younger. Then I got smart, and with the policies of "Daddy Bush", stood in unemployment lines with the rest of Americans, many top Executives coming from collapsed companies, just like what we are seeing now.

Enough of the 'Republican Machine'. If you are poor here (GA), and write to your Congressman, they check your voting record and snub you.

Bush and his croney, Carl Rogue, frightened the daylights out of the country in 2004, turning those stupid amber and red warning lights on, signaling terrorist attacks. It was nothing more than a scare tactics. Bush's two economic stimulus packages. Lies, lies, and more lies, from YOU and them. How much more can the middle class take from such hypocrites?

We do not need a 72 year old man ever again running the White House. We do not need 72 year old men in Congress either. The youth of the country are finally waking up and becoming less apatheitc citizens. Why? Because they have been to Iraq and Afghanistan...I am 54 years old, a Vietnam Vet., and cannot relate to the McCain/Palin ticket. Her winks and getures belong on the sidelines at her kids hockey game in ALASKA!

The fool that stated we'll go back to the Carter era is just that. Our lives in the technological/global age we have entered, no longer look back on the political past.

As an Officer for the largest consumer bank in the U.S.A.,I survived almost 7 years, while they threatened us with our jobs each day that we did not cram more credit cards, lines of credit and mortgages down American's throats!

Enough of you Republicans (and that is who runs the banks!). You will probably try and re-elect Senator Elizabeth Dole too!

Obama; more Presidential
Well Lori, it seems that all the nay-sayers r really coming out of the wood-work now that McCain is losing this election. All you conservative reporters & McCain/Palin jock-sniffers are satrting to come out with the; "Obama could still loose"; Obama still has weaknesses"; "McCain can gain ground"; and so on. The more Obama gains in the polls, the more the negative articles from people like you come out. Why not just admit it Lori, McCain made a mistake picking Palin, he made a mistake "so called" suspending his campaign and screwing things up on the bail out bill, he roally screwed up saying the "fundementals of the economy are strong", then coming back two hours later and saying the economy was in trouble. Shall I go on Lori?? Obama has ran a well-oiled, grass-roots, clean and honorable campaign, while McCan has been running a shabby, nasty, mud-slingging, flip-flopping on the issues wreck of a campaign. Period!!

OBAMA AND HIS VP
THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS TWO CAN DO ANYTHING FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.OBAMA IS A EMPTY SHEET OF PAPER,HIS VP HAS DONE NOTHING TO MAKE HIM SPECIAL.WHAT ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DOING BY EVEN LISTENING TO THIS TWO GUYS.TAKE AWAY OPRAHS ADVISERS WRITING HIS SPEACHES AND YOU WILL SEE A D.... .GET HIM OF THE SCREEN.

Outstanding article today - thank you
Your op-ed is outstanding. Thank you so much for the time and care it took to write it. As for the poster who said, "Obama has ran a well-oiled, grass-roots, clean and honorable campaign.." Thanks for that as well. Laughed out loud on that one. And I'm still thinkin' we McCain-Palin supporters will have the ultimate last laugh, if not on November 5, then when BHO's supporters come to the stunning realization that they will not receive a single benefit from their candidate's presidency. That's kinda what happens when candidates break promises they never intended to keep in the first place.

Sad State of Affairs
After spending over 25 years in the military - I have been amazed at the number of my contemporaries in the military that agree with me that McCain is just plain frightening....The United States can not afford to elect John McCain-especially with his lack of judgement in his VP selection. Have we all become so "dumbed down" that we can not recognize someone who does not have the education or experience to be president? Obama's Senate district has a larger population than the State of Alaska..If you don't think national experience and basic knowledge is important for a presidnet would you want your doctor to barely graduated from school, or your airline pilot just minimally qualified to land the plane in bad weather with you onboard?
People are saying they "don't know Obama...but do we really know the real McCain? After all of his flip floping around and basically saying things that he would have NEVER have said 10 years ago confirms in my mind that the general public knows Obama better than the "new McCain".
McCain in the past would never have turned to the horrible swift-boating against Obama that will surely be his approach to the next four weeks as he falls farther behind in the polls. Heaven help the US if the Republican's have ANOTHER 4 years to "run" this country.
A proud retired military officer (who has discovered too late that the Republicans will do nothing to help the miltary [check McCain's vote on the new GI bill, Pay raises for the troops, supporting Bush on trying to raise the fees and reduce coverage on military health benefits] I've had enough of Bush/McCain and the republicans!!

Bill in Floriduh, with "Sad State of Aff
Bill, you HAVE to be a poser, like unto Obama. Either that, or you have a serious stress disorder, leading to delusions of hope in Obama. No respectable military personnel are going to accept Obama as "Commander in Chief" over McCain. Obama's longest term relationships are with the haters of America, terrorist Bill Ayers, Syrian Tony Rezko, Marxist Frank Marshall. And Obama will "defend against enemies foreign and domestic"? Right. You are not military. Or you are and insane.
A quality, well written piece, Ms. Byrd.
Thanks.

O'Bama will lose
"Sociopath" "Liberal" "Ties to Terrorist" "Rezko" "Empty sheet of paper", the rhetoric goes on and on. Yet the real reason that O'Bama will lose the election is the one that continues to go unmentioned. It is something that none of the anti- O'Bama machine has not noticed. May I remind you all, he's BLACK! and that's the real reason for all of the hatred.
