Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

While the mainstream media wallows in the unpleasant effect John McCain’s apparent nomination is having on the GOP, are liberals also intentionally ignoring the undeniable void of influence the two Democratic candidates pose in the Middle East? No, it’s not that Barrack and Hillary both completely lack foreign policy experience or that they have far-out, socialist ideologies. Their handicaps are even more outrageous than that.

Islamic terrorists hate average, American infidels pretty much equally -- but how much do they hate the ex-Islamic infidel who converts to Christianity? According to the hadith (which is a collection of the words and deeds of Muhammad) Muslims must kill apostates. Naturally, Allah will reward the murderers on judgment day.

In fact not long ago, Michelle Malkin wrote about a British imam’s daughter who converted to Christianity. The woman (whose real name is not given) said, “[She knows] the Koran says anyone who goes away from Islam should be killed as an apostate.” The woman now lives under police protection. She says, “[Her Muslim family members] are following Islam to the word. But [she does] not think every Muslim would act on that.”

No, not every Muslim would slaughter an ex-Muslim. Not every Muslim remains silent about jihad against America either. But the Muslims who do murder in obedience to Allah -- as well as the surplus of Muslims who do not openly or vigorously condemn those Muslim butchers -- make identifying friendly Muslims from terrorists rather difficult.

Regardless, does any sane person believe that Muslim terrorists would not use Obama’s “maverick” conversion to Christianity only to inflame greater hatred towards America in the Islamic world? If Allah smiles upon jihadists who blow-up, behead, and butcher ordinary infidels, imagine the incentive and motivation for obeying his command to kill an apostate who is the head of the Great Satan itself.

Ironically, the Left consistently proposes America can accomplish more through diplomatic negotiations than by military power. But seriously, how would Muslim leaders like Iran’s Ahmadinejad welcome an ex-Muslim infidel who is President of the United States? Is there anyone who has not seen what those sociopaths are prepared to do to a man who draws cartoons of their prophet and to a teacher who names a stuffed animal Muhammad? Only an imbecile would honestly think they would be open to diplomatic negotiations with a President named Obama who ditched Muhammad in favor of Christ.

For America to elect a bona-fide apostate to President, well, that would be just like “Great Satan” himself poking Muhammad right in the eye. Imagine the success jihadists would have with a recruiting slogan like “Allah Delivers Hope: President Obama.”

The only advantage Hillary has over Obama is that she’s just an ordinary-female infidel. That’s probably better than being an ex-Muslim infidel. However, her problem lies in Islamic terrorists not warming up to the idea of women being equal to men. In fact, Muhammad also states in the hadith, ''A nation which placed its affairs in the hands of a woman shall never prosper!”

While scholars and Muslims -- outside of the Middle East -- frequently assert Islam places women higher in society than other religions, reality just doesn’t support them. Despite what is written in the Koran, Islamic women are oppressed. Think about it. How many camels get stoned to death for “dishonoring” the family name? Asserting that women are respected in Islamic countries is like Ahmadinejad claiming there are no homosexuals in Iran.

Furthermore, Hillary is the “emotionally abused” wife of a negligent, bullying husband. But despite the public’s knowledge, she pitifully and unstably defends him versus seizing the opportunity to “liberate” herself. Hillary behaves exactly the way terrorists want women to behave -- vulnerably.

Instead of repairing strained relations in the Middle East, Hillary or Obama would likely further weaken them: Hillary (the female magnet for male humiliation) and Obama (the infidel apostate and every terrorist’s fantasy).

On the other hand – if voters can look beyond McCain’s blemishes – the man has not crawfished on fighting the terrorists in their war against America. Assuming he receives the GOP Presidential nomination, voters should now seriously be considering whom he selects as his Vice President candidate. A strong conservative VP could inspire the conservative base. A Washington outsider with strong business experience that assuages McCain’s shortcomings would be ideal.

Something else to consider is that McCain would be the oldest President ever elected. He has already defied the odds. The average man’s life expectancy is 70 something. For pilots, it is lower than that. And for POWs it even lower. No one is wishing McCain harm. However, ignoring his age and health is just not smart. Enduring the level of stress he will encounter at his age, McCain simply faces a higher probability of not being able to serve a full term.

Coincidentally, America’s ninth President (William Henry Harrison) also ran on his military-hero reputation. There are a number of similarities. Some considered Harrison egotistical and ambitious. John Quincy Adams called Harrison “the most troublesome of all the office seekers during my administration.” Senator John Calhoun said of Harrison, “…he seems to enjoy his election as a mere affair of personal vanity.”  And Andrew Jackson said, “The Republic…may suffer under the present imbecile chief, but the sober second thought of the people will restore it at our next presidential election.”

Harrison was, at the time, the oldest President ever elected. He was also the first to pass away in office. None of us know what the future holds. Could Vice President Romney be America’s “sober second thought”?

Romney for VP!!!
Mitt Romney as vice president would make voting for John McCain more tolerable. Romney could have been an outstanding president, I believe.

If McCain is smart, he'll name Romney and let him handle the economy. If Romney is smart, he'll think twice about working for Mr. Amnesty. If they can coexist together in office, America will be the true winner.

Whats in a name ?
I notice when a person converts to Islam they change there name to identifiy and lift up Allah, why do Muslims who convert to Christianity not shed those names that ID them with a god they no longer believe in?
This is why the Bible instructs followers of Christ to be baptized in Jesus Name, because then we are identified with Him. He did say He was coming back for a people called by His name.
Keep up the good work, I wish they would make this article required reading to vote. ha

VP Won't help King John
This arrogant, bitter, self righteous, tyrannical, angry little man calls us bigots and worse, indicates we are stupid because we dared oppose his immigration bill and now thinks we will give him our most precious citizen gift- our vote- NOT LIKELY, no matter who might be the VP nominee! But he could make an effort to apologize by this miracle:

TODAY- demand that the double fence be rushed to be completed by mid-2009. Demand that current laws be enforced and employers of illegals be penalized. (AZ is doing it and they are trickling back to Mexico.) He could voice support for the local sheriff and county attorney who are doing their best to round up the criminals. BUT HE IS DOING NONE OF THESE- why would we believe his promises "if you elect me".

DO NOT ACCEPT McCAIN- there must be a true conservative out there somewhere.

Back to reality...
I had assumed for years that SC Sen Lindsey Graham would be rewarded for his brown-nosing of McCain with the veep slot. He's from the South, which doesn't hurt, but he's aligned with some of the same issues, eg, amnesty, that are troublesome for McCain; doubling down, so to speak. Graham has been a huge disappointment for me, where McCain is the same jerk he's always been. (I'll vote for him, but he's still a loose cannon with a hateful mean streak.)

On the other hand, McCain (speaking without thinking) noted his ignorance of economics. Romney has no such weakness (and would be clever enough to keep it under his hat if he did!), so would give McCain some strength in this area.

Romney could also be a "stalking horse," making (pre-planned) "suggestions" that McCain could use as an out for some of his more asinine moves, eg, the Campaign Finance Disaster, er, Reform. George Soros has certainly reformed his spending, right? (Hypothetical! Soros is a communist capitalist - yes, this SHOULD be an oxymoron, but it's not in Soros' case. He falls just short of qualifying for the Axis of Evil.)

McCain has insinuated that he will rethink some bone-headed moves he's made in the past and may make some changes. Romney would certainly offer him not only cover, but authenticity: the guy has more accomplishments than the entire dem candidate list before it was narrowed to two.

Hillary? Probably Bill Richardson, as he could probably take a punch when boy-man bully Bill Clinton throws one of his many temper tantrums. If Obama were veep, he would OWN Bill Clinton were he to be on the receiving end of Bubba's notorious and physical temper.

It would never be Dick Morris, even though Bubba literally beat him up. But, as Bubba and Hillary have both noted (sans the profanity) that Morris is a Jew, so I guess beating up and cussing out Jews is okay for the Clintons. Impressive... one way or another.

VP
Though they'd both probably personally prefer Bill Richardson or John Edwards as their VP, unless one of them scores a decisive victory over the other, the one who ekes it out will probably have to choose the other. So it'll likely be a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket for the Dems.
As for the Repubs, I do hope to see Romney in the cabinet, and although I think he'll make a fine presidential successor to whoever is elected, I don't think he'd necessarily help McCain get elected as VP.

Huckabee as VP is a Winner
McCain choosing Huckabee as running mate would be an extremely smart move. Huckabee guarantees a wide swath of evangelicals coming to the polls and is an inspiring figure. If he chooses a non-evangelical or someone not far-right and appealing, the Republicans have no chance as turn out has already been terrible for the party.

Not Romney
I'd say "Not Romney" for the same reason the above poster says "Huckabee as VP is a Winner". The evangelical part of the Republican party is about 1/3rd of the party. And, you can call it all kinds of names, but the Christian evangelicals will NOT vote for Morman for VP. Evangelicals put the demands of their religion above the demands of their political party. The evangelical Christian religion believes that Mormans are a cult, a particularly evil cult that seduces Christians away from the one true faith of Jesus Christ. The reason Huckabee stayed in the race was to make sure that a Morman is not the nominee. Putting a Morman on the ticket as VP will guarantee a Democratic president in 2009.

I've
wonder about Obama's conversion and if he will survive. He will as long as he's useful.
there's also the question of surviving the Clinton machine.
And McCain's health is a consideration, campaigning in itself takes a toll on younger, healthier men, what's it doing to him?
As volatile as his temper is, he could be knocked out with a stroke. My husband had one at 48 and didn't have a volatile temper, his just happened without any warning. He's recovered, physically right away, but emotionally it took years. I think for McCain
his choice of veep is extremely important, for the country and the party.
The only thing he really has going for him is
the war, much as the demonrat REDS like to dismiss it. To them War is a card game. With a son in Iraq, a grandson probably heading there and another about to enlist, that's something I have to think about.

Furthermore
I haven't decided to vote McCain in case anyone is about to jump down my throat. I'm doing some serious praying and thinking, right now I'm voting Huck in the primary because he's the only one left standing to vote in protest. Anything can happen between now and Nov. We have to stop thinking about what's been done to us, it's been done and we've every right to be furious but in this round it ain't gonna do us much good to sit home. It didn't in the '06 election. I gave very serious thought to sitting it out, but in the end I did vote and can say I tried to prevent the marxist reds from power, the drugged
LSD burned out useful idiots of the 60's who now run Congress. We sure showed the party didn't we? I'm hoping that once we cool off, we will
think ahead and plan ahead. It's too late for this round, we have to plan for 2010 and beyond
and start at the local and state level.
I think that should one or the other two win
POTUS, it won't take long before the jihadist
hit us again and hard. We have to think about that also. And another thing, if this happened
would McCain be a compassionate conservative and make religion of peace excuses? Or would he
hammer them? What would Americans want?

McCain should choose JC Watts
as a running mate for a number of reasons. He is very conservative, yet has long had a positive opinion of McCain. He was unequivically opposed to the amnesty bill, very socially conservative, southern, (well, Oklahoma is sort of the south), and served admirably in the house for 8 years and GOPAC for 5 years. He has experience in Business, government, athletics, and the media, and is an eloquent representative of the Conservative viewpoint. If McCain combined this choice with serious action on any of the promises he made at CPAC, he could heal the rift he has with conservatives. The question is does he see the need or is he too arrogant?

wil
J C Watts is SO good, having him as vice president would put McCain's heartbeat in a precarious postion.

JC Watt - now you're talking.
Huckabee brings nothing to bolster the ticket. Do you really think evangelicals are going to vote for someone who doesn't even think simple abortion is enough--has to go a step further and make sure that if a baby actually lives after being aborted, it can be left on a shelf to die? Obama went to some lengths to ensure that would be covered.

Culpepper
was provacative but lousy at sports commentary as well. Just so you know.

It's All About the Vice
I would not vote for ao against someone based on the feelings of a Islamic terrorists. The wii come after us with maximum effort no matter who gets elected.

Voting for who you think would make the best commander-in chief makes sense. Voting to make OSBL less angry is nonsense.

VP
Romney would make an excellent VP but McCain is likely to make the decision after he knows what happens in the Dem convention. The Dems could blow totally up (probably not, but could).

Romney offsets some of McCain's weaknesses. Huckabee brings nothing but trouble to the ticket and will not be VP.

McCain will most likely pick someone who is acceptable to Economic, Military and Social Conservatrives. If he could get a Woman or a Minority he would but I am not aware of any who are ready to be President.

BG
look up JC Watts. I think he is ready and experienced enough

McCain/Grahamnesty (D-lite) ?
What's the likelihood of anyone who has been called names for wanting the gov't to actually enforce the laws, to vote for those jamming amnesty down our throats?

McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Leiberman. Leadership like this I can do without.

Carbon taxes, constitutional rights for Gitmo detainees and amnesty for illegal aliens await us no matter who wins, whoopee!!!

I will not participate in the dissolution of my country.

You simply CANNOT have national security if you will not defend your own borders or enforce your own laws. Foreign nationals numbering in the thousands are entering our country at will daily. John McCain has done and will do NOTHING to stop it. Don't believe me? Ask Juan Hernandez!

You Gotta Vote

Please do NOT stay home. You must vote. You do not have to vote for Hillybama or McAmnesty. There are always other parties and people on the ballot. You could write in Joe Oliva. The important votes are for House and Senate seats. Conservatives MUST win seats in the House. The House is where things get done. It was the passage of H.R. 4437, an enforcement bill, in Dec.05 that sparked the illegal alien protest marches and moved this issue to the front burner. It was the Senate that tried to jam amnesty down our throats. The D's that won seats in '06 were conservatives running on enforcement platforms. One of them, Heath Shuler D-NC, introduced the SAVE Act. Call, e-mail, or write your Congressman and urge support of this legislation. Enforcement is what Americans want, not amnesty.

Amnesty is a losing proposition.
I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to step in front of this bus.
McCain is.

BG
Michael Steele is another worth considering.

Good grief . . .
you Romney fans never give up!! Give it a break, already. Enough!!

Culpeppers make me sneeze,
I am so sorry.

My husband says the sports commentater that I could not stand was not "Lee Culpepper," but Chuck Culpepper. Deepest apologies to the author for a mischaracterization.

I just want to answer one question from this Culpepper article:

"Ironically, the Left consistently proposes America can accomplish more through diplomatic negotiations than by military power. But seriously, how would Muslim leaders like Iran’s Ahmadinejad welcome an ex-Muslim infidel who is President of the United States?"

They would "welcome" him warmly, and "welcome" our leaving Iraq, and "welcome" taking it for themselves, and "welcome" him back to the faith.

reply to: Virginia Patriot
Well said, as usual. There is hand-wringing in some quarters about fear of terrorism. Folks, the REAL threat to America's socio-economic survival is storming across the border. It has little to do with race, but instead with poverty and ignorance. America needs EDUCATED, skilled immigrants, but it CANNOT AFFORD the ilk which is flooding across the border. They permeate social pathologies like a cancer, eventually ineluctably destroying the host body.

It is IMPERATIVE that we make our pols enforce existing laws which would lead to attritive repatriation of the invaders. If we do not, the left will give them the vote and permanent entitlement government will ensue, followed by the inflow of many millions of other poor, ignorant relatives. Heritage estimates that each such household will suck out $1.4 million more in net govt. services used alone over taxes paid-- once they actually pay taxes. time is short... keep barraging Congress to support the SAVE Act and resist any semblance of scamnesty. You can reach them easily (a few clicks) right here:

Mac Will Pick a Swing State VP
Mac should go for a VP from Ohio or Pennsylvania or Florida.

McCain/Rice
Condoleeza knows foreign policy, in which McCain is weak, and she could meet Obama re race and Hillary re gender. Why aren't we hearing her name?? Her NeoCon credentials shouldn't trouble anyone voting for McCain since he will certainly continue Bush's War as long as possible.

Georgia Gal
The faith which Romney practices is the Mormon religion, not Morman. Perhaps as an evangelical you are not aware of how to spell a different religion?

I disagree with you about why Huckabee stayed in the race. He and McCain had some kind of deal going to gang up on Romney, plus Huckabee's ego and hunger for power are big factors.

I also do not believe that most evangelicals would not vote for a president who happens to be a Mormon. Rush Limbaugh had evangelical callers each day supporting Romney before he dropped out. All the Mormons I have known are wonderful family people, very selfless and giving, humble, hard working, and kind. Romney was all those things and more, which I believe certain evangelicals were able to see without bias.

Ignorance
This article displays a complete ignorance of the background of Sen. Obama.

Sen. Obama has NEVER been a muslim. He did not convert from Islam to Christianity. He was baptized into Christianity as an adult - without previously professing a faith. He is a member of the the United Church of Christ.

I have never hear of you Mr. Culpepper, but based on the willful ignorance (or worse yet - possible lying) displayed in this article, I will know that in the future I cannot trust a word you have to say.

Best Regards.

To Cogdis
Thanks for your post and email. Unfortunately, you do not seem to know much about Islam:

"Fundamentalist Islamists, radical Islamists, Wahhabists, believe, among other things, that:
? When one is born of Muslim parents they are Muslim
? Everyone who does not embrace Islam is a non-believer and thus, is an enemy to Allah, his Prophet and believers
? Should one leave the faith of Islam they are considered an apostate, a denier of the Koran, and should be killed"

"Furthermore, when you acknowledge the fact that Barack Obama was brought to mosque to practice Islam as a child and that he was born of a father that was Muslim, in the eyes of Wahhabists and Islamist fundamentalists he is considered an apostate. Under fundamentalist Islamic dogma – Wahhabi dogma – he is considered an enemy of Allah, his Prophet and believers. In the world of radical Islamists, Barack Obama is the worst kind of infidel – a traitor – and should be killed."

I have never heard of you either, but I trust you -- I trust you are someone who "feels" she is morally and intellectually superior to everyone else based on absolutely no evidence at all. Nevertheless, your feelings are important to me, so never let facts interfere with your feelings.

Questions and comment from me
I don't understand why some Christians would consider voting for candidates who might not hold strong Christian convictions or whose profession of faith is suspect (Hillary, McCain, or Obama), yet, on the other hand, not willing to vote for a candidate because he is a devout Mormon. Seriously, what's the difference?

Khan, Obama or Hillary would be the worst for a Commander in Chief; that's the point.

aDNA, I have no idea what you're talking about, but thanks for the apology. Tell your husband thanks, as well.

VP McMiniMe Grahamnesty, Napoleon Ticket
I think McAmnesty will pick Grahamnesty of South Carolina, the only one out there shorter than he is. It would be the perfect small man complex (Napoleon) ticket. Place hand inside vest, and conquer the world! What a disaster McAmnesty is in every way. No VP can cover his defects. Please God, save us!

No Mormon running mate
The results of the primary season confirmed what the public opinion polls showed: Over 40% of Christian evangelicals who attend church weekly would be LESS likely to vote for a ticket that had a Mormon on it. So, no Romney on the ticket.

How to deal with anti-Mormon bigotry is a long-term issue. It's not something McCain wants to take on at the GOP convention, where it would come up if McCain nominated Romney.

The Romney-Huckabee fight got so bitter, with its implied religious subtext, that McCain should steer clear of it and not choose either one of them as his running mate.

I still think Sarah Palin would be an interesting running mate for McCain, if Obama is the Dem nominee. She's conservative, lifetime NRA member, governor of Alaska, popular, fought hard against earmarks and pork. She hasn't been governor a very long time, but then Obama is still relatively wet behind the ears too.

Gearing up for the fight...

America is at a cross roads and the stakes are high, maybe even our lives.

Everyone wants peace. But many Democrats don't seem to even acknowledge that we are at war with a brutal throat slashing, burn em alive enemy that wants to destroy our freedoms and thrust the world back into the dark ages.

Clinton and Obama threaten to pull our troops away from foreign lands. That would almost certainly result in the fight focusing on our own homeland. Have the Democratic hopefuls already forgotten the 3,000 Americans killed by terrorists in New York City? A retreating military and weak Berkeley/ACLU/MoveOn backed Commander in Chief would embolden our enemies and encourage suicide bombers in our own malls.

Like it or not John McCain is the person the GOP has to work with this season. Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are only delaying the inevitable and demonstrating their lack of party loyalty, and complete lack of statesmanship in a time of war. If they'd follow Romney's example and pull out immediately, the GOP could gear up early for the political fight of our lives.

If McCain chose Mitt Romney for his running mate it would appease most conservatives and talk show hosts, and could unite the GOP. It could defuse attacks that McCain is weak on the economy, and alleviate concerns that he's too old.

Maybe John McCain really is the best choice for our times after all.

At least he has proven his mettle during times of war...

http://mittromney.townhall.com

Lilly- on C. Rice
I believe that Dr. Rice could have had the top of the ticket if she wanted it. I believe the reason you're not hearing her name may be that she has said she wants to return to private life.

SteveL
You are dead wrong. Many evangelicals voted for Romney, and would do so if he were on the ticket. (Huck and Mitt split the evangelical vote pretty evenly.) McCain is going to have his own problems getting people to vote for him and choosing Romney would go a long way toward satisfying conservatives. Are you aware that Romney won the CPAC straw poll in 07, and 08 even after he dropped out? Romney IS the conservative standard bearer right now. He has overcome the bias with his exemplary behavior throughout the campaign.

The fight was not between Huck and Romney, it was a one-sided attack from the Huckster. Romney never participated, to his credit.

alfred e. neuman
would be an excellent VP .
" WHAT , ME WORRY ?"

No pathological liar on the ticket!!
Documented lies by the Huckster, especially damning is the last on the Wayne Dumond case. If you believe in law and order, you have to watch it.
Start here on immigration.

Next Huckabee on taxes

http://www.propeller.com/viewstory/2008/01/26/mike-huckabee s-lies-exposed/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.electionspeak.com%2FUS ElectionVideos%2F299&frame=true

That is where he tried to dance around the direct challenge in the debate where he was aked point blank if he had a net increase of 500 million in taxes, yes or no and he skirted the answer. For the record the truth is YES.

Last and most importantly. Documentation that he LIED about the Wayne Dumond case, then tried to skirt it to Clinton. That is how the Soviet Union tried to explain food shortages for 40 years, blame it on World War II.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHdd_aZIvys

Had Huckahasbeen not maliciously had his offices hard drives destroyed, it may well be that Gov. Huckabee's administration was the real "Home of the Whopper".

The VP dilemna
McCains VP choice is a double edged sword.

He's got to pick someone conservative to energize base support.

But if he picks someone "too conservative" he'll alienate his crossover support.

Romney fits for a number of pragmatic reasons. He's become palatable to the nominating base only in the last couple of months (maybe weeks). He's not widely known as a rock ribbed conservative, so he'll not put off too many of McCains crossovers. Perhaps most importantly, Mitt is the only candidate left that can raise enough money to put the GOP on equal footing with the DEMs.

There is the issue of brain dead GOP bigots who won't vote Mormon. They exist. I don't believe their numbers are large. In most primaries past Iowa, Huck and Mitt split the self identified evengelicals fairly closely.

The only pragmatic choice is Romney. But it doesn't help that McCain seems to detest Romney.

To SunThe
I agree with you---because it so many ways she seems obvious. This must have been her choice.

SunThe
The matter can go even further, beyond belief. Sixty years ago I had a (Catholic) cousin who was in nurse's training at a Catholic hospital. She told me that if a woman came into the hospital with threatened miscarriage (in which there may be bleeding) the nurses were instructed to bless the contents of every bedpan just in case there might be cells of baby in it.

Excellent Point Rayfinn
Unfortunately, there are so many that have turned a blind eye to Huckabee because he is an evangelical minister.

Apparently, if you wear a little religion on your sleeve it will get you anywhere. Maybe not the presidency...but maybe VP if many evangelicals get their way.

McCain/Huckabee = LOSERS Inc.

McCain won't fight the WOT
Because, he will, immediately if elected, open the borders to anyone in the world who wants to march across- terrorists, Mexicans, anyone. And that war, the invasion of our southern border, is the most immediate threat we have. They are already here, not half a globe away from us. They will destroy the US long before the Islamic fanatics get to us.

15-20 million aliens already bankrupting our treasury, medical care and education, destroying the environment of the border states (look at the photos of the destruction 100 miles north of the border). If McCain won't fight that immediate and winnable war, what makes anyone believe he will do anything else to preserve the US?

Let him TODAY demand the double fence on the border be accelerated toward completion by mid-2009. We are paying him a senator's salary; he could earn it today, instead of trying to convince us what he would do next year.

Reject McCain- demand a true conservative!

To Culpepper
You state that Muslims believe that if a child is born to Muslims he is automatically a Muslim. (I don't know but will take you at your word.) I do know that Jews believe that having a Jewish mother makes a child Jewish. Just suppose, for the sake of discussion, that a child is born to a Muslim father and a Jewish mother, then when he is 21 years old he professes Christianity. It seems that he would be "all of the above" and at the same time "none of the above". Do you not see how silly this argument is?

The argument on these boards that Barack Obama is secretly a practicing Muslim terrorist biding his time until he can bring Jihad and Sharia to the United States is...what can we say, it is at the level of reasoning that can be expected from a great number of townhall regulars. More to the point: Obama is a Democrat, he can be expected to practice politics as a Democrat if he is elected, he is enjoying great success as a candidate, and this is scaring hell out of the Republicans, who would gladly offer thanks in any church, mosque, or synagogue, or all three, if only Obama were on their side.

It's Moot
If McCain picks a conservative running mate, he'll lose the general election by a wide margin.

I he picks a moderate/liberal running mate, he loses the general by a landslide.

Bottm line: McCain is a loser. When McCain loses, that will be a victory for conservatives. Only with his losing will conservatives be able to effectively battle in the future the evil forces of liberalism.

Defeat McCain!!

I'm votin' Obama :0)
I live in Texas, and Obama's my man for the primary. As I keep saying...I'll NEVER EVER EVER vote McCain...unless I reallyreallyreally like his VP choice and hope he doesn't live for too long in the office. But fat chance he'll win anyway. I'm sure I'd rather have the weak-kneed GOP actually KNOW their enemy, rather than more dyfunctional crap that Jorge Bush started.

I think Obama is such a novice at all of this McConnel would run circles around him. But McCain has enough knowledge of Congress, enough vitrol and revenge, enough hypocracy and hidden agendas, that it would be worse for our cause.

So.................

We should vote for him and hope he dies?

Well Lilly
(re: 10:26am post)
As extremes go in that regard, I think the nurses extreme of being reverent/respectful about bedpan contents is preferable to the extreme that involves watching a baby exsanguinate on a shelf.

Bear in mind that the latter point of view came not from some obscure nun in some hospital, but from a man who would be president of the united states.

McLame Hater

I would be really shocked if McLame picks Romney for VP. As I watched Mitt endorsed him, the hatred and disgust on the Trolls face was so obvious. He couldn't hide it. He HATES Romney.

To Lilly
We're talking about Islamic terroists; "silly" doesn't quite capture it. I'd use "psychotic"...

I don't know anything about the "closet Muslim" rumors...

Lee

That's "Terroists"
As Tweety Bird would say -- of course.

My bad...

TrueHawk

Being from FL I've heard whispers Crist might be tapped for VP. And to that I say....GOOD RIDDANCE!

MCCAIN STRATEGY & VP ADVICE
JC Watts may be a good idea as he is a well spoken fella, but I still think the better pick is Romney due to his strength in debates and his great economic turnaround artist background.

McCain has the foreign policy credentials and is a viewed as having the strength of character to stand firm on the war on terror regardless. THis will have a calming effect on the populace. On economics he shouldn; get bogged down into the details and should stick to statements about general conservative principles-lower taxes, decreased government spending, business tax cuts-large and small etc.

With Romney as his VP he could emphasize that he will work closely with him on the detials of how to swing this economy around ASAP. Remember everything ROmney ahs touched has turned to gold, he entered Mass when it had a huge deficit left with a huge surplus, entered the Olympics when it ahd a huge deficit left it with a huge surplus, entered Bain & Capital when it was in shambles as well as Staples and left them both with huge surplus's.

If the GOP can come off as the adults with solid and specific plans about how they are going to win the war and improve the economy to make the Dems look like they are living in a fantasy world, which they are. We don;t have any money for heavans sakes, no wonder Ron Paul get's so exascerbated at times.

Lilly

SunThe1 is right about Rice. The woman wants to get the hell out of politics. And I don't blame her!

To GeorgiaGirl
What nonsense. There are MANY well KNOWN Evangelists for Romney. STOP being a Bigot - that is NOT what Christianity is about. Remember FIRST, we are electing a president, NOT a preacher.

Second, Romney's father was elected Gov of Michigan 3x---so his religion obviously caused NO problems there. Romney just won Michigan 10 points over McCain---so obviously Michigan's citizens were not concerned about Romney's religion.

NOT ONE article, complaint, etc.----has ever come out of Massachusetts about Romney being a problem because of his religion.

Romney captured a larger percentage of the evangelical votes in both Michigan and Nevada -obviously these people realized that they were electing a president, NOT a preacher.

What matters is what kind of character Romney has, not what the theological intricacies of his church are.

What church one goes to makes no difference - we all know Sunday Christians who go to just the right church but otherwise live a very non-christian life. I would suggest we get the best insights of people is to observe what they do, not what they say or what church they go to. How do they treat their families, friends, people that work with and for them, people they do not know. What do they do with their lives?

Huckster is a proven LIAR - and only out for himself. He should know by now he has ZERO chance of winning this Election and YET he stays in the race. No, we don't want this tax hike Mike to be the VP either. Just tell him to GET LOST. He is a disgrace to Christianity.

McCain is not smart enough
or humble enough to admit that Romney is his best choice. I saw how uncomfortable he was at Romney's endorsement. His eyes were shifty, he wore a frown, and was NOT gracious at all after Romney showered him with compliements.

But I hope Romney gets a spot somewhere because he would shine in whatever job he's given, and that would help win over even more folks in 2012.

Great Column
The 2 main points are: 1)both democratic candidates are ironically poor choices for president based on the prevailing liberal foreign policy position, and the fact that world politics will largely focus on the Middle Eastern nations(i.e. Islamic); 2)the VP is especially important in this election because the odds are higher than normal this president might not complete a full term.

The US has had 9 presidents that did not complete their full term (20%). That is an about every 4 or 5 president leaves office early. Nixon was the last one, 6 president ago. We are overdue. McCain's health and age are against him. The fanatical zeal of religious and/or ideological murderers makes Obama and Hillary irrestistable targets.

Great Column!

Romney-Reasons Why
The McCain Camp is sending clear signals that Huckabee will not be the VP as he is apposed by the economic conservatives.

McCain may want to consider Romney for the following reasons.

1. Romney can raise money and a lot of it if he is on the ticket. He should be able to raise as much as he did in the primaries and probably more. That offsets a very serious McCain weakness.

2. Romney offsets perceptions that McCain is weak on the economy. Romney is very good at the economy. McCain scores well with the balanced budget crowd and Romney does well with the global growth crowd. Obama is vulnerable on both.

3. Romney may help some on the immigration battles. This is a major problem for McCain and he does not seem to know how to defuse it yet.

4. In a very close election Romney may tip the balance in NV, CO, OR and maybe WA. Further, Romney may be worth an extra percent or two in NH, ME, IA and MI. Romney is about the only Rep who could help in MI.

5. In the primary Romney was very cautious and scripted. He was perceptually vigilant against making the same mistake his father made (an errant comment). Now Romney is a lot more relaxed and really could help the campaign with a vigorous style.

6. Romney could send a positive signal to many conservatives since McCain is very old.

To a large degree Romney offsets McCain's weaknesses.

hm... this Islam shjt may be on to
Something...

"In fact, Muhammad also states in the hadith, ''A nation which placed its affairs in the hands of a woman shall never prosper!”"

(looks around at modern, declining, decaying America...)

Don't care; still voting for Hillary. Better a fast death for the country than a slow death.

How can any VP
offset McCain's negatives?

The VP will be subordinate to the President, not co-President.

You could ressurect George Wahington and run him as McCain's VP, and once in office George wouldn't be able to do a darn thing to stop McCain from being the liberal he is.

There are only two ways McCain can get my vote: 1) he can nominate Hunter or Tancredo as his running mate and promise on paper to either step down Jaunary 3rd or pay me 5 million dollars, or
2)He can pay me a million dollars. Before the election. In gold. Then I'll vote for him.
Cause a million dollars will go a long way to shield me from where this country is headed.

Stop Pandering to PC
"JC Watts may be a good idea as he is a well spoken fella, but I still think the better pick is Romney due to his strength in debates and his great economic turnaround artist background."

JC Watts is a crook.

Earlier today someone on Fox suggested Kinda Sleazy Lice as McCain's running mate. How perfect.

This isn't a contest for "who can pander to the shallow, insipid PC crowd the most."

Here's a thought... how about nominating someone who's conservative and honest, even if he's a white male?

How silly of me... there are no conservatives or honest people in this election...

Virginia Patriot - but if I
vote for someone other than Hillary... McCain might win!

There's not a darn thing McCain can do now to get my vote, other than paying me a million dollars in gold. In advance.

So many Flying Fig Leaves,
So little time.

I call this one McBFFL4 (McBitch Flying Fig Leaf 4--since it is the 4th different one I have encountered since starting the Catalogue. This one rates an A for originality, plausible plausibility, and reasonably well faked reason.

What LC is going for here is, in some ways a variation on the Uber Fig Leaf--"Hillybama is Worse" but the twist on the theme from the "Why we should let the Ragheads Vet our Prez Candidates" point of view is Fresh. Add in the "a good Veep will redeem him" ploy and I will grant it a genuine new number..

LC gets to keep his A rating because of the Freshness and rational sounding "analysis". In reality, I consider his argument counterproductive because I LIKE stiking my thumb--preferable fresh from eatin chitlins with my fingers--in the Ragheads' eye. If I could stick all of THEM in an oven I would.
LC was actually pretty effective in presenting a Prima Facie case for "Why The Only Good Ragheads are Dead Ones."

For all of you screaming "biggot" and "Nazi" out there, consider this. This holdover Religion/Culture from the Darkages is just about THE last Bastion on Earth for the ENSLAVEMENT of Women. If you want to argue they should be ALLOWED to, then you'd have to argue the South should have been allowed to keep THEIR slaves!

MY Irish Ancestors ratted OUT our Homegrown Terror Group--The Molly McQuires. I feel quite comfortable in asking all Ragheads to follow suit. That they have not, as LC points out, tells us something about the Nature of the Culture/Religion and whether it can be trusted to Enculturate in America. It tells us who they REALLY identify with, side with, act on behalf of.

And then there's this--most people would say of Real Nazis--Gestapo, SS etc "The only good one is a dead one." Same with the Militant Racist WWII Japs.

So how REALLY are these guys any different?

the big mick

Not Huck, Not Mitt
Time for the religion thing to cool down. I am ashamed that our party has so divided on this issue. These wounds need to heal. I like Condie, JC Watts is another good choice. Steele from Maryland I believe also looks good.

As to McBFFL4
I do reject the basic premise that a "good" Veep will redeem The McChurian Candidate. I try to visualize why anyone who claims to be a Conservative would want to vote for Uber Commiequeer Kerry's Veep. Why anyone would think that such a peron would or even COULD govern in any meaningful "Conservative" way; and what on EARTH a "balance" to KERRY's VEEP would look like--Ronald Reagan Reincarnated and on Steroids???

All the McBitches who have rumpedup for Big Mac out there need to understand something--as far as I am concerned Mac AIN'T REDEEMABLE!

McSame
The REASON Mac ain't redeemable is that he is actually the MORE evil choice here. He is Socialism Lite--the slow poison that kills all the more SURELY for being slightly slower. It accustoms the victim as WE have been being slowly conditioned since the Gipper Left office.
Mac is just another well herded step down the McSame Road that has brought us to the brink of Socialism.

Hillybama's Socialism Straight, however, at least has the hope of producing an allergic reaction in America that causes them to choke and puke it up before the Fatal Dose is absorbed.
NO such hope with McSame.

There is simply NOBODY, not even Uber Conservative Purebred Ann Coulter, who could give Mac, the Mac of Shamnesty, ANWR, McFeingeld, No Tac Cuts, Gang of 14, ANY REAL Conservative Cred--can't be done in reality.
Do all the wishful thinking and In Denial voting ya want. The Establishment Party Machine Bosses of the Gilt Bird Cabin Conservative Free GOP (you know the guys who brought you shamnesty) are COUNTING on you bending over, rumping up, and going along--you always have before.

the big mick

LC's finally irony.
LC has a point about Hilly: "the “emotionally abused” wife of a negligent, bullying husband. But despite the public’s knowledge, she pitifully and unstably defends him versus seizing the opportunity to 'liberate' herself. Hillary behaves exactly the way terrorists want women to behave -- vulnerably."

LC forgot, unfaithful, adulterous, infidelitous, and verbally abusive--you know, sorta like the way we Reagan Conservatives have been treated by the GOP since The Gipper left.

Tell me, LC, since they have now, officially, ABANDONED us, are WE free to "liberate" OURSELVES and seek better company and companionship? Or are you going to tell us, as all the McWhores, have, that we are nothing without the GOP, and can't succeed on our own?
You know, just like EVERY Power Drunken Abusive Spouse as said THROUGHTOUT History!

Elsewhere on TH I have argued that the Establishment Party Machine Bosses of the GOP have acted like Robber Barons, stifling dissent and competion. Telling us to shut up and buy from the company store and like it.

In this they are very like the Patriarcdhal Ragheads as well, n'est ce pas?

Way PAST time for separation and divorce!

the big mick

Why Cond Watts?
J C Watts is a crook. Why would anybody think him capable of redeeming McCain?

Kinda Sleazy Lice has been a nothing Secretary of State. Everybody keeps touting how smart she is, but she sure hides it well in office.

So, golly gee willickers, I wonder just what qualities these two people have that you professional sellout Republicans would even consider either of them before Hunter, Tancredo, Paul, Gingrich, or a host of other viable candidates....

Well, gee, what do the two groups have in common?

The first two are minorities... plus one's a broad! Double-letter bonus score. The latter group are (gasp of horror) white males!

You people make me sick. You pander just as pathetically as any Democrat. You get all self-righteous talking about how the Republican party is the *real* party of inclusion, you claim to be conservatives, and above all you claim to be honest. Yet the liberal McCain isn't even officially nominated yet and you're desperately seeking out blacks, females, or other minorities in a despicable attempt to out-pander the Democrats. Doesn't matter that Watts is a crook; doesn't matter that Rice has shown no conservative credentials, and like Colon Powell inhibited the President from having a good foreign policy. Doesn't matter. They're BLACK; and one's a FEMALE! Oooh... and there are rumors that she's gay... HOME RUN!

Stop worrying about the Republican party winning this disgusting election and start worrying about how to save the nation.

a final reading
I got to give LC credit for also working in a McBFFL 1--The Big Mac--Two All American Beef Patties (Warrior and Leader), but ya CAN'T hold the Special McFeingeld, ANWR Sauce, Mexican Let Us, Cheesy Gang of 14, Sour Pickles, ONyon Supreme Court NO Strict Constructionists, all on a Says ME bun.

And looking closely he ALSO gets credit for the first McBFFL 5--it's OK cause he's going to DIE in office anyway. That rates an A for Originality docked to a B because it brings up WHY he is LIKELY to LOSE against the More Youthful Hillybama (see Tale of the Tape below); so give LC a McBFFL5b. And he gets partial credit for McBFFL6--(best Rush doing Henry Kissinger Voice here) "The VERDICT of HISTORY."
Only a B there, A level quotes and rational sounding pseudo-logic, docked to a B cause others have done it just as good with other Historical Allusions, mostly under thee "Warning Will Robinson, Danger Third Party Extinction" variety. Thus McBFFL6b.

LC DOES win the cookie for MOST different Fig Leaves in a single column so far.

Romney worst choice for VP
Mitt adds absolutely nothing to the ticket. Sure, some conservatives like him (I'm not one of them!), but in order to win the general election, McCain needs someone who can appeal to Independents. Romney is the epitome of everything Dems and Independents can't stand.

McCain should choose Huckabee. McCain desperately needs someone with wit, charm and charisma to balance his stiff, monotone personality. Can you imagine McCain and Romney up against Obama? We would get slaughtered.

Huckabee also galvanizes the evangelical vote, the southern vote, and he is a likeable, honest, authentic man. Romney is none of these. If Mitt is anywhere near the ticket, I will sit out the election.

A VP Won't Change McCain
McCain will still be the back stabbing liberal he has always been. He will lobby Republicans to amnesty 15 million new Democrats destroying America and the Republican party for decades.

Obama is our best hope of working a scorched earth policy against the liberals. He will make so many mistakes he will make Jimmy Carter look like a genius.

Concervatives for Obama.

You just knock yourself out and don't vote for him. I'll bet you can count the number of us who care on less than one finger.

The McChurian Candidate V Hillybama
Tale of the Tape.

Hillybama is younger and plain young, youthful, hopeful, fresh, energetic, a prophet of hope and change in an age of Change. New School.

McSame is OLD old school, crochety, beat up, slow moving, backward looking, tired and grumpy. He's stay the course in an age of change. He's WHITE haired for pete's sake.

McSame is Nixon--they got the black JFK!

He is Dole the Lesser--they got MRS. Bill Clinton
(so if the play failed miserably the last time, it makes sense to run it AGAIN??)

Makes ya wonder if the Establishment Party Machine bosses so FEARED an Anti-Amnesty Candidate (it was THE WINNING Issue where we triangulated Hillhybama on the WRONG side of 70% of the electorate--so the GOP picks THE GUY who WROTE the shamnesty travesty on the SAME--WRONG--LOSING-side WITH Hillybama--what's that TELL you?--if they so FEARED the Anti-Amnesty movement that they MADE SURE we didn't HAVE a candidate--even if it meant LOSING the General Election!
Fits in with the way they have tried to Marginalize the Radios who led the charge too.

got to admit you got some points, lad.

I still like Condi and JC though. No need to slam them just cause the GOP IS looking to outpander. And Newt hisself has gone "Global-Warming" which damns him in my book.

In some ways, it don't signify--you can put perfume on a pile of dog sheite all ya want--still can't make it TASTE like Chocolate.

One last thought on The Relative Value of The Big Mack.

What does it gain us to Stay the Course on the Eastern Front when Mac has already Surrendered on the Southern and Home Fronts?

As to the voice of history and "a man who can help the country" McSame is another step down the road that got us HERE, the very BRINK of Socialism--how does MORE of that help? Slow poison surer death, remember?

With Mac you're going to get Suters and OConners NOT Scalia's or even Alitos or Roberts-es. How you going to get LESS Gov interference out of McFeingeld? How is No Tax Cuts for the Wealthy Mac going to HELP the economy, Mr. No Drill in ANWR our energy problems? How is Mr. Shamnesty going to secure the Southern Front?
How can uber commiequeer Kerry's VEEP HELP the Country much less the CONSERVATIVE Cause?

McCain and Mel Martinez.

What conservative will not vote or vote for Dem? Well known Latino on the ballot will make a play for the Latino. Also, since Martinez will appeal to independent voters.

Don't go to the right, but staying in the center will help McCain.

cons3rvative
Hopefully it will be Huckabee choosing a VP.
I don't think McCain will beat the democrat, no matter how much he tries to "coelsce" our conservatives. Frankly, he doesn't have much "electibility" even though he is the "presumptive nominee". (like my media words?)original huh?

Romney, won't make a good VP. He doesn't stick to his guns. But then again, he dropped out because "it is a time of war". nonsense!
He dropped out because he spent gagillions of dollars and couldnt get us to vote for him.

eliza and professor x - no one cares
The number of people who Romney hasn't won over is very small - just a few diehards for Huck. Romney is the conservative choice according to leaders at CPAC - for the 2nd year in a row. Huck was not even close.

cons3rvative - Romney is much more competent, intelligent, and talented than Huck. And he possesses the moral fiber, character and graciousness than Huckabee lacks. Not to mention - he's not a liberal, lying bigot.

Pretty sure Huck has taken himself out of contention for VP with his bad behavior, ego and stupidity.

PC, intelligent, competent and talented
doesn't add up to conservative.
You could say the same of Barrack Obama.

This is where Romney misses the mark. Mitt talks conservative. Mitt simply doesn't do or follow ideals that are conservative... Not near enough of the time to be considered a real conservative.

pro-v1 - wrong again
But you're a Huck supporter so it's understandable. If Romney is not conservative then how did he win the CPAC straw poll 2 years in a row and Huck didn't?

The truth is that Huck is a pro-life liberal. It's right there in his record.

And, you couldn't say that Obama is intelligent, competent or talented because the truth is we don't know. He has no record beyond his very liberal votes.

PC there you go again...
Mitt owns the following record achievements...
and these are not to be considered conservative.

Socialized health care. Mandatory.
THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH!
Can't wait for Mitt to roll out this plan on the rest of our United States.

Planned Parenthood member selected to health plans board.
Contributions made to Planned Parenthood.

A long list of appointed judges that are liberal
democrats.
And we worry about McCain's selections to the Supreme Court?

$300 million in increased taxes on business
$240 million in new and increased fees.

And you say Huckabee is a liberal?

Mitt while running for POTUS pandered the following:
A bigger stimulus give away $233 billion.
$20 billion a year to Detroit.
(GM lost 38 billion in the last quarter alone)

No payroll taxes for those elderly Floridians
(65 and over)

Again, Mitt is not a true conservative. PC you can compare Mitt to anyone, that doesn't make Mitt conservative.

My support for Huckabee doesn't make his past record conservative enough either.
Huckabee's just a more grounded conservative than Mitt that's all.

Just the Facts
Anyone willing to accept the role of VP with McC*ssh*le in charge is not worth having to begin with. I hope he picks some liberal nambi-pambi RINO and they go down in flames - the biggest *ss-whooping in election history.

Defeat McCain!!

eliza and GeorgiaGirl
I hope McCain chooses Huck. Both will go down in flames like Ford and Dole. Then good riddance.

What a pathological liar, yes liar Huckahasbeen is. The most damning interview over the Wayne Dumond case and Huckster was invited, but a no show.

SEE and HEAR it here!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHdd_aZIvys

Like the parole board said the governor meets people all the time, they only had ONE meeting with Huckabee and it is hard to forget just one. Kind of like the President meets thousands of people they go on to forget. People who meet the President only once, REMEMBER it vividly.

Had Huckahasbeen not maliciously had his offices hard drives destroyed, it may well be that Gov. Huckabee's administration was the real "Home of the Whopper".

I would rather have an honest Agnostic to Huckster and his snake oil campaign. He has his lemmings follow him and lead our party to McCain. So be it, they deserve each other.

One of the top ten most corrupt politicians in the entire US list that includes Hillary and Obama!!!

http://www.judicialwatch.org/judicial-watch-announces-list- washington-s-ten-most-wanted-corrupt-politicians-2007

Enjoy your Jim Jones Kool-aid, I'm not drinking it. Elmer Gantry really lives and comes from Hope Arkansas and is taking our party and country to a new low.
Arkansas politicians ruined our Oval Office once---NEVER AGAIN.

Rayfinn "Home of the whopper"
Nice line. Did someone take your "Happy Meal?"

Pathological liar? or just your version of the Huckabee you prefer.

Re: Wayne Dumond. Rapist. While awaiting trial was attacked, had his testicals cut off. Received 40 yrs to life in prison. No possibility for parole until Jim "Guy" Tucker reduced Dumonds sentence. Tucker made Dumond parole eligible.
In Huckabee's second of four denial letters to
Dumond, Huckabee stated that he would like to see him released, given the right oversight.

The parole board that DID release Dumond had been appointed by democratic Governors such as Bill Clinton. Another fact Rayfinn. The parole board that released Dumond did so with conditions that Dumond leave Arkansas.

The parole board shortly after releasing Dumond stated to a local paper that Huckabee did not pressure the board. It was only later, after
those parole board members had lost their jobs that the very board members that said there was no pressure from Huckabee recanted their story.

Funny, how parole board members that released a rapist who went on to committ murder would later be inclined to point the finger of blame at someone else. The someone who denied Dumonds release.

Rayfinn and those Huckabee hard drives
Rayfinn, you infer that Huckabee maliciously destroyed government property to hide I'm sure, lots of secrets etc...

Huckabee hired a computer firm to: back up the existing data and then "write over" and or remove the hard drives from 88 computers and replace them in time for the incoming Governor and his administration.
Personal information of past employee's etc. existed on the drives that would no longer be of use to the new admin.

Again, those who like a good conspiracy choose to say government property was destroyed and secrets must have been kept on 88 hard drives.

That's alot of secrets on alot of different drives.

Rayfinn maybe you should order a
subscription to the "Arkansas Times".
A paper known for its pro abortion, pro gay marriage stances too.

Now, why would this paper not like Mike?

pro-v1
The firm you mentioned did indeed destroy the hard drives. Every state has secure data storage areas where the old hard drives could have been kept for instance to discover what may have been contained in emails, etc. should the need arise. It is a simple case of integrity. Old email has brought down many a house of cards. No problem with installing new for a new administration, but a big problem with the utter destruction of the old. Very much like the missing 18 minutes of audio with Tricky Dicky Nixon. Sorry, that may be the Arkansas way of doing it, but it stinks to the high heavens.

The preponderance of the public information on the Dumond time line brought out in 2005, before Huckster was running for President was an issue, along with the board interviews is too much against Huckabee. You are allowed to BELIEVE what you will. Here in Missouri where they(board and Huckabee) sent the Arkansas trash, we live with memories of a young girls rape and murder.
Maybe we can get Governor Blount to parole our murderers to Arkansas, sort of a quid pro quo arrangement.

pro-v1
Questions are being raised about then-Gov. Huckabee's 2004 decision to grant clemency to a repeat Driving While Intoxicated offender in Arkansas named Eugene Fields, despite the objections of a law enforcement official at the time. Documents obtained by NBC News reveal Fields' case was handled differently from any other DWI clemency or pardon granted by Huckabee, and some Republicans are now suggesting significant political contributions may have influenced the governor's decision.

In August 2001, Fields, of Van Buren, Ark., was convicted of his fourth DWI charge, a felony in the state of Arkansas, was sentenced to six years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Fields reported to prison in August of 2003.

But prison records obtained by NBC News show that six weeks into that six-year sentence, Fields' application for clemency, a commutation of his sentence the governor could issue to grant Fields an early release from prison, was unanimously supported by the parole board. Within months, Huckabee issued his intent to grant executive clemency to Fields, who was released from prison soon thereafter.
When questioned by reporters about his decision to commute Fields' sentence, Huckabee said his decision was based on the parole board's vote. Today, in a statement to NBC News, the Huckabee campaign said Fields "deserved time in jail and received it." The statement went on to point out that Fields completed alcohol rehabilitation treatment, and that his prison sentence was reduced with "strong support from the community," and "to make room in an overcrowded system for violent offenders."

Supplementing Fields' application for clemency were tax receipts for donations totaling $1,120 made to the Salvation Army, one letter of thanks from the Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation for a $2,500 pledge, and two more for donations made to a scholarship foundation and a Baptist Church charity.

BOBBY RAY FRETWELL: Huckabee Commuted Sentence of Man Who Murdered 81-Year Old Man. Family members of Fretwell's victim, 81-year-old Sherman Sullins, had appealed to Huckabee to reconsider clemency for Fretwell. Fretwell was driving a stolen pickup truck when it broke down. Fretwell picked his victim's house at random, killed Sullins with a shot to the head, stole his truck and money. [Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 3/6/99]

JAMES MAXWELL: Huckabee Granted Clemency Over Family's Objections; Maxwell Was Freed. On October 30, 2000, despite objections from the victim's family, Governor Mike Huckabee decided to grant clemency to convicted murderer and robber James Maxwell making him eligible for parole in 2003. Huckabee was criticized because Maxwell spent three years assigned to work detail at the governor's mansion. The governor declined to discuss his acquaintance with the inmate. Angela McCoy, one of the victim's daughters, said Huckabee repeatedly referred to Maxwell as "Jim" during a meeting. "It was obvious there was a personal relationship between the two of them," she said. "That hurt us to the bone." Maxwell told police he pulled out a stolen .22-caliber pistol and ordered Reverend Billy Price Bennett to get out of the car. When Bennett resisted, police said Maxwell shot him three times and stole the car. His location is unkown. pro-v1
That list is longer still and egregious. In addition
during his 10½ years in office, Huckabee faced repeated criticism over his clemency practices. He issued 1,033 pardons and commutations during his tenure, more than twice as many as his three predecessors combined. Bill Clinton, Frank White and Tucker granted 507 clemencies in the 17½ years they served as governor.

___Herzfeld successfully sued to keep a murderer named Don Jeffers behind bars (at least for a while longer) after Huckabee granted him clemency without explanation as required by law: "On granting an application (for executive clemency), the Governor shall include in his written order the reasons thereforeŠ."
___Attorney General Mike Beebe, in nullifying the pardon, agreed that the governor had erred when he didn't give reasons why he had pardoned Jeffers and didn't even contact the prosecutor or the victim's family about how he felt about the pardon.
___"It was a tremendous victory," says the 30-year-old prosecutor. "This was not only the first time a prosecutor had filed a lawsuit against a governor but had actually won." Jeffers had strangled a Bryant man during a home burglary in 1980 and is serving a life sentence without parole for murder and 25 years for armed robbery after he plea bargained to avoid the death penalty.

pro-v1
___ Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours):
Louisiana – 213.
Mississippi – 24.
Missouri – 79.
Oklahoma – 178.
Tennessee – 32.
Texas – 98 (in-cludes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).
___ Total: 624 vs. Huckabee's 703.
___ Governors in neighboring states almost never grant killers clemency, while Huckabee has commuted the sentences of a dozen murderers.
___ "That is extremely rare here," said one corrections official in a neighboring state.
___ She recalled one case in the early 1990s when the governor commuted a killer's sentence and none since then.
___ In Texas, we could find only one clemency case for a killer.

Thus pro-v1 Hucks regard for law on a proportional basis of 20 to 1 population equals for 6 states bordering Arkansas 624, Huckahasbeen 14,060(20 X 703)
Want fries with your Kool-aid?

Rayfinn forgot about those 16
The sixteen people for whom the sentence of death was carried out by the state of Arkansas.
That was under that pardon giving, clemency for money or spiritual conversion Governor named Huckabee.

Rayfinn did your happy meal not come with a toy?

Dr. Ron Paul for VP
I was born in 1934, and Dr. Ron Paul is the only genuine political conservative who has run for president in my lifetime. He would make a great VP for McCain, but I'm not sure that poor demented soul is smart enough to recognize how valuable Dr. Paul would be on his ticket. Aside from delivering the Texas vote, one of the best ways RP could help McCain would be his great army of fans who would work tirelessly to get him elected on the theory that McCain will not last long, leaving RP as president. Short of a major miracle, that may well be the best hope for the great man, Dr. Paul, to bless this extremely undeserving nation by serving as our president. To be sure, that's the miracle for which I and others are praying. Join me in this endeavor if you dare hope for a government run along legitimate Constitutional principles and honest Austrian economics--minus the illegitimate IRS and the fraudulent Federal Reserve.

pro-v1 Logic Flaw
Flawed logic for sure in the 16 death sentences being carried out. Assuming there were 16 and the law was followed, then that was appropriate. HOWEVER doing ONE thing right does not make doing everything else so. Since 1977 there were 379 carried out in Texas and 66 in Missouri and only 16 under Huckleberry. Can we draw a conclusion from that, not with clarity.
But, Huckster did pardon 12 convicted murderers and 16 were executed. That would be a 43% catch and release rate for convicted murderers. Like Fred Thompson said, that is a Liberal.
Aug 2007
The Associated Press is reporting that the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles has today, by a six to one vote, recommended to Texas Governor Rick Perry that he spare the life of convicted capital murder defendant Kenneth Foster. The vote from the seven-member board was 6-1. Perry doesn't have to accept the highly unusual recommendation from the board, whose members he appoints. One clemency in Texas where 379 sentences were carried out is BIG news. 12 during the Huckster Reich.
Please drive to the next window for your Huckabee marching orders.

Rayfinn and those stats
Now Ray, I'm not in favor of Huckabee releasing, in my opinion too many ex-cons etc...

But to abuse facts, such as in the Dumond case just don't help those who would like appear as truth tellers.

Stats can be spun easily. Left out in your representation of prior Arkansas Governors and their 507 clemencies over 17 years...

EXAMPLE:
Over a two year period in 1978, 38 first degree murderers were released in Arkansas. Or statistcally speaking, more than 3 times the murderers set free in 2 yrs when compared to a 10 year term for Huckabee. And by the way one of those released murdered again, just months after getting out.

That Governor? Bill Clinton.

Huckabee oversaw 4 times the executions in ten years when compared to Clinton's 12 years as Gov.

The stats are as easy as the headlines you sight. Huckabee didn't help himself politicaly with his release policy. But he wasn't running for president when those decisions were made.

pro-v1
He wasn't running for president then, BUT he is now. I have to look at the rule of law and I do not see a conservative. There was a justifiable need to install new hard drives for a new administration. There was no valid justification for destruction of the old hard drives.
Nothing illegal about registering for gifts at Target and Dillards either, but after ten years of marriage, it is at best tacky, at worst a circumvention of intended laws.
Huckabee was better at executions than Clinton does not qualify him for anything except being better than the Clinton gang and in my book almost everybody is better that Bill and Hillary. Maybe it is just the Arkansas way of doing things. If Gov. Blount destroyed hard drives in Missouri, we would want him behind bars.
No more Arkansas in the White House for at least a century.

Bad Memory or a liar, you decide
Funny how he keeps saying the same lie in several speeches. I can understand a misspeak, but to keep telling the same untruth over and over and over and over.........

http://www.electionspeak.com/USElectionVideos/354

Heck, I could understand a change in position from a candidate such as switching from gun control to gun rights, or pro choice to pro life, etc. But to keep telling the same Whopper. Maybe after it is all over he can be the Burger King spokesperson.

Lee Culpepper the Islamist (apparently?)
Hello Lee,

So you are going to argue from a Wahhabist perspective? Is that your cultural core? Sen. Obama has never considered himself a muslim. I do not consider him a muslim. And by any rational thought system with which you would agree even YOU would not consider him a muslim (unless you really are a Wahhabist / Islamic fundamentalist?). Please enlighten your readers as to your Islamist tendencies - I am sure they would LOVE to know about them. LOL

In my email to you I did not once talk about "feelings" - so your conjecture in that regard displays only your preconceived notions about people with whom you disagree.

Best Regards
(sorry I do not close with your favored Insha Allah, but I am Christian)
