Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Allow me a dose of hardened market realism concerning Barack Obama’s landslide victory in Wisconsin. The race is over. Hillary Clinton is over. Her electability is over.

Bill Clinton’s political invincibility is over. The Clinton Restoration is over.

It’s over.

Obama got to the far left faster than Hillary did. He out-organized her, out-fundraised her, out-speechified her, out-hustled her, out-dressed her, and out-presidentialed her. He outbid Hillary for votes, one promised government check at a time. His 17-point margin of victory in Wisconsin was incredible. It says he can’t be stopped.

Outside of the whacko ultra-left Madison college population, which is even worse than the Ohio State population, Wisconsin is a lot like Ohio. And Ohio campuses will go for Obama. Think faculty voters, grimly determined for a left-wing takeover of America “from the bottom up,” to use the Saul Alinsky community-organizer phrase. As goes Wisconsin, so goes Ohio.

Not even Hillary’s last-minute bashing of business, free trade, and free-market capitalism -- which was a complete repudiation of her husband’s presidency -- could save her. Obama got there first, with a style and elegance that Hillary simply couldn’t match.

And it came out of nowhere. On the eve of the Wisconsin primary, Hillary did a hard-left imitation of John Edwards’s populist and demagogic soak-the-rich rhetoric. She trashed some of the greatest businesses in America -- oil, credit-card, insurance, and pharmaceutical firms. Wall Street and lending firms. It all must have come as quite a shock to the alumni of the Bill Clinton White House who are working for her campaign.

Robert Rubin may have been too busy tending to Citigroup’s sub-prime collapse to keep Hillary on the reservation. But where were Wall Street’s Roger Altman and Washington’s Gene Sperling when Hillary discarded the pinstripes for the polyester lefty-union pantsuit?

Bashing business comes naturally to Obama. But for Hillary it was a complete failure. Exit polls from Wisconsin say the trade protectionists went with Obama. Union members? Obama. People who think the economy’s in trouble? Obama. Folks who don’t think it’s in trouble? Obama. People making less than $50,000 a year? Obama. More than $50,000 a year? Obama.

And it only gets worse.

Voters went with Obama on healthcare by 8 points, on the economy by 16 points, and on Iraq by 20 points. Churchgoers and non-churchgoers went with Obama. Most qualified to be commander-in-chief? Obama. College degree or no college degree? Obama. Democrats, Republicans, and independents went with Obama. So did blacks and whites.

White women did in fact lean toward Hillary, by a small 52 to 47 percent margin. But Hillary only got 31 percent of the male vote while tying the female vote. White males? They went with Obama by a full 29 points.

Obama won both married men and women, and he tied on unmarried women -- a heretofore Hillary stronghold. Most likely to unite the country? Obama, by almost 30 points. Most interested in improving relations with the rest of the world? Obama, 56 to 40.

You think these trends are going to change in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania? I don’t -- no matter what last-gasp neutron-negativism tactics the Clinton team employs.

Bash Obama for plagiarizing Deval Patrick? That negativism backfired. Go after Michelle Obama’s incredible anti-American speech? Women are coming ’round to Obama, so try again. Go super-negative over the next two weeks? That’ll mean Obama beats Hillary by 35 points instead of 20. Lift the sanctions on the Michigan and Florida delegates? That’s an Obama trump card. Bribe or rent the super-delegates? Make my day, Obama is thinking.

If Hillary wants to preserve her career as a professional politician her best bet is to pull back in Texas and Ohio as a prelude to withdrawal. Bill will say no, ’cause his career is even deader than hers. But Hillary has more class than her husband. She also has some vague sense of reality -- of the difference between right and wrong.

The Intrade pay-to-play prediction market showed Obama with a 10 point gain after Wisconsin, giving him an insurmountable 81 to 19 lead. It’s as if Hillary has suddenly become a steeply inverted yield curve, with a rapidly declining credit rating and a liquidity pool that’s quickly drying up. She won’t be able to raise two wooden nickels going forward. Not even Bill can raise enough money in Dubai to keep her out of bankruptcy.

The market has officially pulled the plug on Hillary, terminating her campaign. What’s left for her now is to muster some grace, humility, and character and begin the process of pulling out. To do otherwise will destroy the Democratic party, and what’s left of the Clintons’ badly tarred and tattered reputation.

My December prediction came true
On my website, JOEOLIVAFORPRESIDENT.ORG, I stated that the race would come down to McCain vs. Obama. This is the lesser of two evils choice that the elites are going to give us this fall.

The only real question left is what will America do? Will we once again believe in the DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda that tells us we have no other choice, nowhere else to go?

If you care about our beloved nation, you need to check out the site! The elites have robbed us of our inheritance! Will we allow this theft to continue, once again doing the same thing and hoping for the different result that never has and never will materialize?

Check out the site, I promise that you will, not be disappointed. Thanks, Joe

Funniest line I've read in a long time..
"Hillary has more class than her husband."

Kind of like saying one hooker has more virginity than another hooker.

Last time I checked zero EQUALLED zero.

Hillary GONE !!
I hope this is true, better to get her out of the picture prior to the fall elections.

Just hoping Texas and Ohio follow the current parade

Joe Oliva
Joe - You need to shave. Who was the last president to sport a beard? Keep fighting!

and that is a good thing....
how can she bring the party together when she can not even thank the loyal supporters, even when she looses?

I am glad her true personality is being revealed.

over and out
"What’s left for her now is to muster some grace, humility, and character and begin the process of pulling out. To do otherwise will destroy the Democratic party, and what’s left of the Clintons’ badly tarred and tattered reputation."

Let's all hope and pray that she fights it out to the bitter end, and uses every scuzzy dirty trick and legal tactic in her arsenal. Oh, what a delicious scenario.

Wishing upon a star...
Obama is bad, Hillary is a train wreck. I predicted long ago that Hillary would our next POTUS and so hope to be proven wrong. I still will not count her out until it's official. The DNC still has the Florida and Michigan mess to deal with and my guess is that it will get ugly before it gets cozy. Anyone think Hillary is ready to bow out gracefully? Yeah, right.

I do, however, want some dead cat stories, some stories about super delegates somehow coming to own new cars, some stories about Obama associated with the KKK. I am talking right out of the Clinton play book.

I want to see a total meltdown and have it captured on film. I want the Clinton's to call the American people idiots and Obama a sell-out. Then, I will be comfortable agreeing that it is over for Hillary.

It's all over but the shoutin'!
We've taken our party back from the Clintons! You'd better get used to the words "President Obama".

Now someone has to come up with a hip version of Hail-to-the-Chief. Our hope-for-change has arrived!!

implosion
To do otherwise will destroy the Democratic party...

Wouldn't that be cool? With a destroyed democratic party and a decimated GOP, there might be hope for this experiment called freedom yet.

left-is-wrong-get-used-to-it
You ARE correct in that the next president will be the American Idol candidate, all leftist cliched fluff, who together with the Pelosi-Reid Congress will foist the proven failure of extreme, theft-by-government liberalism on the country. Of course this is "change", a change back to the malaise of the Jimmy Carter years. How soon we forget!

Change to what, exactly?
To "Left is right-get used to it":

What exactly is the wonderful change we'd see under President Obama? Other than much higher taxes to further push us into socialism, a president with virtually no experience running anything other than a campaign, who does nothing but rile up people's emotions with empty platitudes? Where's the substance? Even folks out campaigning for the man can't identify a single piece of legislation Obama is responsible for having written. And that's his job!! To write laws? What has he done? Based on his record, what kind of president do you really think he'll be? Please help me to understand, because I just don't see it. He's likeable, he speaks well, and has more charisma than any candidate since Reagan. What else is he bringing to the table? Seriously, I want to know. And don't tell me "Change." Not all change is for the better.

Greg, I intend to keep fighting
but the facial hair stays. You keep up the fight as well and we might actually reclaim out inheritance.

Hillary Pull Out With Grace, Ha!
Hillary will throw babies overboard before she gives up her seat on the presidential life boat.

It will just get nastier. She will pull in all her chits with the super delegates and they will turn their backs on her.

She will eventually appear to concede gracefully. But then she will sit on her hands during the general election.

After Obama beats McCain because conservatives like me will vote against McCain, Hillary will become a maverik herself.

You see, the Clintons are never wrong, its the Democrats who are wrong. She will not let them forget it.

Better Recalibrate
The day before Wisconsin voted, polls in Texas showed Hillary's lead had shrunk to 2 and 5 points respectively, and in Ohio, to 9. In Wisnconsin, Obama's victory margin was 17 points, as opposed to the 5 points in the lasst poll. Hillary looks like toast.

Couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Everyone thought she was inevitable. The GOP was salivating at her negative ratings. Better recalibrate. You can't hang the Clinton's on Obama.

Ding Dong The Witch is......
I can hear that Wizard of Oz dittie now. Don't like liberal Obama but taking out some of the trash now can't hurt!

Sheldon
As far as the Left is concerned anything is better than what is. Of course they have no real idea of what is is. They could be switching to Satan and that would be OK as long as he isn't a Republican (he's not). Change, change, change. Sounds like all the Dems are panhandlers.

According to the latest
McCain is getting destroyed by Obama come November.

The RNC has asked me to send money, I think I'll hold on to my Federal Reserve notes until 2012 or 2016. Sorry it's President Obama and there isn't a damn thing Republicans can do about it.

oh my
How pathetic.

Hillary classy?
No way. She couldn't possibly have less class than Bill, neither of them has any. She will not go down easy, either. The only hope is that she will destroy Obama on her way down. Sure will be fun to watch the next few months.
Osama bin Laden pleased that Obama been leadin.

Sheldon
This race won't be, I should say isn't about, accomplishments or competence. It's about vision.

(And by the way, I've always thought that Reagan was no where near the president that this generation's conservatives have learned to believe he was. Reagan was, like Obama, primarily about words, primarily about his sunny optimism).

If we wanted someone who had their name on legislation, I'm sure we could find somebody like that. We could find lots of technocrats. That isn't what people are looking for.

And maybe you can answer a question for me. Why do THers persist in pretending that every president doesn't have advisors, cabinets, they bring in an economist, and a foreign affairs advisor - there's a great article in salon.com yesterday or day before about a lady last name Powers, who is advising Obama on foreign policy. It brought tears to my eyes to read it.

Obama will be like, maybe not a CEO, but like a Bill Parcels or Bill Walsh. He'll get the players and the coaches. He install a system. He'll drill, drill, drill. He'll forge a unified, efficent, dominating team. You don't have to have been an NFL star to be a winning coach.

Proud Lib...
What color is the sky on your planet?

"...like a Bill Parcels or Bill Walsh....He'll install a system."
Yeah, and that system is called "Socialism".

You say this race is about vision. We'll I too have a vision and that is that I get to keep the money I work for.

JD's Handsome Son
You're so right. How foolish of me to think that what's mine should be mine. You've convinced me to change my vision.

My new vision...quit my job and go "live in a van down by the river eating government cheese". (With apologies to Chris Farley, may he rest in peace.)

Got any extra of that Wolf Bane?
I'll trade you for two silver bullets.

Bittersweet For Me
As glad as I am to see the Clinton Machine fail with a good kick of reality in their rears, what we're left with is a more leftist soon-to-be POTUS.

We now have Obama, and suddenly I find myself wishing Hillary was ahead by a landslide. Why? Because somehow someone else we all barely knew a couple years ago is more phony, marxist, and more inexperienced than her is going to be our president.

It's inevitable. A large portion of Republicans laugh at this danger of Obama in office, gladly letting it happen to thumb their noses at the candidate we're left with. We can't agree as a party how important it is to get out and vote to save ourselves from this false new age messiah.

He will break our backs and ruin this nation in 4 little years. Imagine 8 years. If you live in Illinois like I do....you know we're all screwed.

This is baaaaaaad. This is very baaaaad.

Jesus tap dancing christ John Konop,
Have you no decency man?
I just watched your link to that hillary video.
There is no call for that kind of obscenity on this website.
I'm flagging you as offensive man.

I will now go to my happy place with a scotch to try and recover from that traumatic experience.

Hitlery's...
done been bi-atch slapped!

She jus gonaa hav to 'cept dat fact!

Hillary Down For The Count?
JD's Handsome Son took the words right out of my mouth. I am loving watching Hillary and Bill squirm as her campaign seems to be going down. But I also don't count her out as she seems to have more lives than a convention of cat lovers. In addition to silver bullets, garlic, wolfbane, salt and a stake through her heart, I would see if she left any Horcruxes to destroy and go recruit Harry Potter. (Fans of the boy wizard's saga will know what I am talking about). In any event people don't count her out yet but join me in enjoying the ride.

I tried
I spent months trying to convince people of the possible outcomes of the primaries and I was laughed at.

Good luck everyone, cause the next 4 years are gonna be rough. The upside to this is.... we have a chance at getting a real conservative if we start working NOW. The first on the to-do list is to vote for every conservative House and Senate candidate in this cycle. The selection for POTUS is a crap shoot, so vote your principles and convictions.

A Clinton-Free Nation?
Glee!

Who knew that Clintonfatigue could be fatal? We've long known it to be quite infectious.

And now if only we can be inoculated from Obamamania!

Obamanation
Obama gets the nomination in a true Obamanation. God help us all.

Obama : #1 Liberal Senator
Obama is more liberal than Hillary. We should mourn her passing because Obama's candidacy makes a McCain presidency more difficult, if not impossible.

Hillary had no chance with the mainstream media pushing the politically correct African-American candidate (race trumps gender). Now the media will attack the Old White Man because it is the politically correct thing to do.

Sigh....I wish I were Canadian. At least the Liberals and Conservatives engage in friendly political discourse up North. And they are all nice folks!

You've got it right, RA & asurferiamnot
You're right. Anyone who thinks Hillary Clinton is going to go gentle into that good night has been living in another galaxy for the last 15 years. One word that does not describe either Clinton is "gracious". When Hillary gets trounced in a primary, she treats the event as though it never happened, right out of Orwell's 1984. Obama better be ready for scorched earth. Hillary Clinton has much too much invested in the pursuit of the presidency to let her dream slip away now without pulling out all the stops. The Clintons still have an army of devoted political dirty-tricksters at their disposal, and if they haven't been given their marching orders already, they very soon will. But it is enjoyable watching what she's been dishing out for the last 15 years now coming back to hit her like a boomerang between her own eyes. And if she gets kicked to the curb in her pursuit of the Democratic nomination, this is one time she can't blame the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy; they aren't the people who have been giving Barack Obama his smashing primary wins.

It ain't over yet
until her thighness sings.

Give Up - HeII!
One - I won't believe the wicked witch of dogpatch is gone until I see the house fall on her and her fat calves shrink into fog...

Two - I will be working for the local candidate (A retired Marine Col) to replace my BF lawyer JAG Capt who squeaked into the house seat. THe current one must be doing Nancy Pelosi he votes so much like her.

Three - I will hold my nose, and wash my hands afterward, but I will vote for McLame. Not that I want to, but change boy (and to those of you who think that's an insult - TOUGH) only wants to change my income to his taxes.

It's over
It's over is right. America is finished.

Globalist/corporate interests have won. It won't matter who wins. The most radical candidates from both parties. Both committed to the North American Union.

Obama promises to change the US and the world? The people mesmerized by him don't bother to ask how. He will give us the North American Union. When we go down we will take the world with us. Then they will get their new world order, one world gov.

The republic will be destroyed. Then Obama will begin to hand out the burkas.

Righteousness exalts a nation. We are finished.

health care?
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId= 56745

This is what national health care will look like...RATIONED.

Fools are following him off the cliff.

Finally a real Democrat!
Kudlow is admitting that the Clinton's were really closet "Republicans" who were fond of passing pro-business legislation like NAFTA, which has done nothing for America but reward multi-national corporations and cause thousands of good jobs to move south of the border. Obama will be able to run as a legitimate Democrat against McCain who now seems to be in trouble with some past conduct.

Obama!
POTUS!

pax vobiscum

Many votes for Obama
are actually votes against Hillary.

However, too many Americans want something for nothing- be it their cash or effort- to say that Obama can't win.

Bobsmcishl
Legitimate democrats run NJ, and have for many years. You should check us out! Bankrupt, corrupt, and proud of it.

Rich guy because of your parents, gov't employee, or in academia? You've got to be one of those to be in favor of Marxism.

Ron Paul Primary Opponent
Ron Paul has a very serious primary opponent in TX CD14. Some polls have him leading Paul for the Mar 4 primary. Whoever wins the primary should win the general easily.

Chris Peden is the Mayor Pro Tem of Friendswood (Houston suburb). Chris is a Conservative Republican (pro family, anti drug, pro military, economic conservative) who favors the marriage amendment.

You could really help the Rep Party if you could donate a few $$. Chris is just starting to run radio ads.

You can donate at http://www.chrispeden.org/

I am not affiliated with his campaign in anyway but I heard own of his commercials today and checked him out.

If Huckabee wanted to do something favorable for the Party he could come do a fund raiser for Chris.

Cuban Boat Crisis?

Just wait til' Obama has a go at it...

This time the Cubans will be hijacking boats to get back :)

I can see the White-Flag over the White House...

It will be to the "Left" of the U.N. flag.

Dem/Rep
Marxist or Fascist. Elites on both sides globalists willing to sell out the country for a mess of pottage.

America is finished.

What He Is Running On
Obama is running entirely on the rhetoric of hope and change which is enough to get the votes of Leftists. He has eight months to go to the general and in that time he will have to come up with substance. Given that he is a Liberal the likes of which we have not seen since McGovern there is the real possibility that by the time the election rolls around America will have awakened to what he really is.

I wonder...

Who's more devestated by this unexpected '08 collapse of her campagin? Hill or Bill?

I can't see her ever conceding to Obami, dignity intact or not. The DNC will have to pry her cold dead fingers off of this one.

She offically no longer needs Bill. When the dust settles my prediction is ...... she files for divorce.

TruLib
I wouldn't count on it. The American electorate is not as well educated or politically aware as they were 35 years ago. In fact, the average voter in America is hopelessly ignorant of their own government, current affairs, basic economics and history. Couple that with the attention span of a flea, and I think it's unlikely that Hillary (If she successfully pulls off the convention maneuvers I think she will) or Obama (if he wins Ohio and Texas) will lose in November.

Pull out or destroy the democrat party?
And that would be a bad thing? Stay in Hillary! She will-she has no life apart from posing as a politian . What a complete fraud! Totally unqualified. Carpet begger from Arkansas who has never had a job in her life and is a major criminal! Stay in Hlllary! The Dems need not worry-McCain cannot win without the conservatives so say hello to the empty suit Obama as Prez! God help us!

It ain't over til
Hillary is an expert in digging up dirt and something tells me there's a fertile field to dig in Obama's backyard.

What difference does it make anyway, they are two sides of the same socialist coin.

Bodyguards
Let's hope Obama has a full-time security crew, because I don't think it is beneath the Clinton machine to take him out of the game by any means necessary. He might slip in the shower, fall down a long flight of steps, get distraught and blow his brains out (ala Vince Foster), disappear mysteriously...

BG writes:
'Ron Paul has a very serious primary opponent in TX CD14. Some polls have him leading Paul for the Mar 4 primary. Whoever wins the primary should win the general easily.

If Huckabee wanted to do something favorable for the Party he could come do a fund raiser for Chris.'

How does replaceing Ron Paul with an unknown so called conservative help the Republican Party?

If Chris is conservative why doesn't he run for state office? Then after we see how he functions in that capacity and if he still looks good run for national office.

Giving Ron Paul the boot strikes me as change for the sake of change.

Obama: A reason to vote
Obama is my only reason to cast my vote in the one way I said I would never do: for John McCain.

Obama himself is frightening enough with his outrageously socialist programs and plans. But what is terrifying beyond belief is the abject stupidity of millions of American voters willing to cast their votes, and elect as President, a raving socialist, a man who will support and initiate programs that promise to tax at unbelievable rates the incomes and investments of people who are FAR FAR FAR from rich.

Obama is proof that a whopping skitload of American voters are simply stupid, that they will vote for someone who is an orator only with no proven track record and, to date, not one legislative accomplishment that can be publicly heralded.

Obama is the kiss of death to America.

BG
Anyone who supports Chris Peden is a neocon troll. This man has -0- integrity. His smear campaign is full of lies. If for no other reason, no one should consider funding him.

This is an inside job by the GOP of Texas to rid themselves of the Constitutional thorn in their side.

Flush your money down the toilet before supporting Chris Peden.

Anna's Dismal Gloom
Sorry Anna for your dismal outlook. Clear to me that you do not read or know God's Word---you are unaware that God--Father God--Creator God-Loving Heavenly Father God--That One--HE is the one who created this country. It was created because HE saw that the people would promulgate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
True, the populace, by and large, allow themselves to be so stupid as to glom onto the word 'hope' as some magical, mystical, end-all,be-all for their TV-addled brains. (If one could say they have brains.)
I looked up HOPE in my trusty "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible" and found there are numerous references to 'hope'-- In the Old Testament there are 69; and in the New Testament there are 58. It can be said it is a "God-word", despite the way it is being hyped by the un-informed senator from Illinois.

Change
Ah yes, Change, Change, Change. And in my trusty "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible" change is mentioned. Seven times in the Bible, and in Jeremiah 2:36a, it says "Why do you gad about so much to change your way...?"
One of my favorite ones of this group is
Proverbs 24:21,22- "My son, fear the Lord and the king; and meddle not with them that are given to change: For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knows the ruin of them both?"

Does that sound a bit prophetic?? It does to me.

There is really nothing the Clintoons
can do to stop Hillary's slow motion train wreck. If she demurs she will be seen as throwing in the towel and if she gets dirty, Obama will garner the sympathy vote.

Hill and Bill are finally derailed. I only hope this moment will last longer than it takes for them to go into bankruptcy.

"At last or long national malaise is over."

So - what's wrong with that?
So - I'm curious. What's wrong with her destroying her party?

Maybe she can destroy the Demos and McCain can destroy the GOP and we can put the extremes of both parties out in the wilderness somewhere and get back to the two parties as they existed pre-VietNam - both for a strong foreign policy with differences on domestic policy.

(Past) Time to acknowledge the damage the Boomer Babies have done on America - Right AND Left, get them off the stage and move forward, right?

Right.

Poor Hillary
Has anyone noticed that the comtempt for Hillary Clinton is very similar to that of the Iraqi people for Saddam Hussein and she ain't even in jail.............YET.

She's not finished yet.
I wish I could share everyone's optimism that Hillary's campaign is over. She desparately wants to get elected, and I refuse to believe she has exhausted her bag of dirty tricks.

Obama had better keep his eyes open. If Hillary could get away with it, she'd hire someone to rub him out. She'd probably hire the KKK, so she could blame it on the "vast right-wing conspiracy."

Fair Tax Plan
Look. This is just silly. I just did my taxes. I live in CA so my housing price is seriously ridiculous. Outta my control - and no, I can't move elsewhere with a stepson and a tech career that is here. And even if I did, someone else would buy my house and live here.

What was my effective tax rate after my home mortgage deduction? 7%.

A "Fair Tax" that killed the home mortgage deduction would make the current foreclosure problem look like a day at the park. Every mortgage holder in every major city, but especially those with real economies - LA, SF, NY, CHI, etc., would be underwater.

So - get serious, and Fair Tax is niether serious nor fair. It would be a complete disaster, so get over it.

THINK, please.

wake up america
"A 23% National Sales Tax is the only answer to this Country's problems."

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I have two problems with a national sales tax:

1. It punishes consumerism, which will have a negative effect on the economy.

2. If Congress levies a national sales tax, but also retains the power to tax incomes (which it will), we will end up with both a sales tax and an income tax. Don't underestimate the greed of the federal government.

I believe it was the 16th Amendment that authorized the income tax (I can't remember if it was the 16th or the 17th). Until that Amendment is repealed, we should not consider giving Congress something else to tax.

Hillary lets go of nothing
She's not presidential, personable, or wise, but Hillary is ruthless, clever, and embedded like a tick. I'm not sure she is ruled out, nor am I ceratin I want her to be. Obama's worse in many ways.

FairTax
Ken and Engage brain,

Please read the book or check out the website, please.

Engage - the mortgage interest deduction is an income tax deduction. With the FairTax there will be no income tax. Can you explain the value of an income tax deduction to someone who doesn't pay income taxes?

Ken - The author of the fairtax, Rep. John Linder is no dummy. HR 25 (the Fairtax bill) requires that the 16th amendment be repealed. The fairtax will go into effect of the first day of the first year after the repeal. Also, the 23% is the embedded tax that is the result of the income taxes compiled by all of those who have anything to do with the product. In other words, you're paying it already!!! Eliminate the income tax and good old free market competition will eliminate all that. The Fairtax adds the 23% onto the end of THAT! So, you're paying about the same. This does not punish consumerism by any stretch of the imagination, quite the opposite.

Read the book folks

AJ
"HR 25 (the Fairtax bill) requires that the 16th amendment be repealed."

A constitutional amendment can only be repealed by an additional amendment. Such an action would require a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate, and then ratification by three-fourths of the states. Call me a pessimist, but I just don't see that happening.

I think a flat tax is a far more attainable and workable plan.

fairtax
Ken,

Yeah, I know that it may seem daunting, especially given the fact that fewer and fewer people are actually paying any income tax. But, I think that if the benefits that the fairtax brings can be stressed (especially in the form of jobs coming back from overseas) it would be easier to sell and get it done. I'm still optimistic!
