Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Back when our military failed to find stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, The New York Times apologized to its readers.

Why?

Before the war, the paper wrote article after article -- relying on both government and non-government sources -- that assumed the presence of stockpiles. Three of its reporters even wrote a book called "Germs," in which they discussed Saddam Hussein's chemical and biological programs.

But when the stockpiles failed to appear, the paper felt used, manipulated by the "devious" Bush administration. It promised its readers greater skepticism, more scrutiny, and no more at-face-value acceptance of assertions by the Bush administration. "The problematic articles varied in authorship and subject matter," wrote the Times in 2004, "but many shared a common feature. They depended at least in part on information from a circle of Iraqi informants, defectors and exiles bent on 'regime change' in Iraq, people whose credibility has come under increasing public debate in recent weeks. … Administration officials now acknowledge that they sometimes fell for misinformation from these exile sources. So did many news organizations -- in particular, this one." Quoth the Times, "Nevermore"!

*** Special Offer ***

But with hard-left Democratic President Barack Obama and large Democratic majorities running both the House and the Senate, the mainstream media -- the ones that felt used and manipulated by the Bush administration -- now purr like a contented kitten after a hearty meal.

During the debate over the $787 billion stimulus package and while preparing his budget, the President projected an average unemployment rate for 2009 of 8 percent. It now stands at 9.4 percent. Where's the criticism about "rosy scenarios"? The Chinese show more concern than do our media about our exploding debt, deficit and impending inflation and high interest rates -- given our unprecedented spending/borrowing/printing of money.

The President recently repeated the assertion that the stimulus package already "created or saved" 150,000 jobs and that going forward, the package expects to "create or save" 600,000 jobs by the end of summer. How does one prove a job "saved"? And how many jobs are lost by transferring money from a taxpayer to a beneficiary?

The government now puts itself in charge of everything from running large companies, such as General Motors, to determining compensation for businesses under government control. Presidents Reagan and Bush-41 each appointed one "czar" -- a "drug czar." Clinton added two more -- a "health czar" and an "AIDS czar." George W. had four -- dropping the "health czar" while adding one for national intelligence and one for cybersecurity. Obama has -- so far -- appointed some 15 "czars," including a "technology czar," a "car czar," a "pay czar" and a "Great Lakes czar." Objections or concerns about an unconstitutional seizure of power, anyone?

Where are the stories reminding us of the smashing job government does in running Amtrak or the post office?

Where are the stories contrasting Canada's move toward greater privatization of its health care system to the President's desire to move toward a Canadian model?

The President promises health insurance for the more than 40 million Americans without it. What will it cost, and who pays? The President promises a carbon tax on American businesses to reduce global warming. What's the cost, and who pays? Will it, in fact, reduce "global warming," and if it does, will the benefits outweigh the liabilities? What does it say that voters in European country after European country voted in conservatives while America voted for the most liberal president in our history?

In defending his magazine's critical coverage of the Bush administration, Newsweek editor Evan Thomas asserted that it was the media's job to "bash the President." But after Obama's election, the strident Bush-hating Chris Matthews of MSNBC evidently spoke for many in the traditional media when he said that his job as a journalist is to "make … this new presidency work."

The Pew Research Center examined the coverage of President Obama versus that of G.W. Bush and Clinton: "President Barack Obama has enjoyed substantially more positive media coverage than either Bill Clinton or George Bush during their first months in the White House, according to a new study of press coverage. Overall, roughly four out of ten stories, editorials and op ed columns about Obama have been clearly positive in tone, compared with 22 percent for Bush and 27 percent for Clinton in the same mix of seven national media outlets during the same first two months in office."

NBC's Brian Williams, invited to tag along with the President for a day, produced a fawning, groveling, breathlessly uncritical piece. Even PBS' hyper-liberal Bill Moyers criticized the coverage, calling it "the kind of Valentine every White House press secretary yearns to hand the boss."

Despite the President's personal popularity, Americans remain sharply divided on his major economic proposals. Most oppose bailouts of financial firms and car companies. For the first time, the President's "strong disapproval" numbers equal his "strong approval" numbers.

Today we witness the greatest government intrusion into our economy in history. As these tax-and-spend, socialist, job-destroying, prosperity-restricting practices take hold, we witness another transformation.

Our traditional media switch from anti-Bush attack dog to Obama-swooning lap dog.

Larry! Great to hear from you again.
As always, you are spot on with your thoughtful analysis. If the economy continues to go south, the MSM will be as much to blame as the administration. Unless more outlets start reporting the way you (and all of Town Hall, for that matter) report, the average American will not be prepared to make an intelligent vote in 2010. "Ignorance is bliss" will replace "E Pluribus Unum" on the infinate number of dollar bills the Treasury has to print to keep up with the debt.

Great Column, Mr. Elder
For some reason, the global warming issue continues to rear it's head. There is no definitive evidence that global warming is occuring, or that man is the cause. Some scientists have even argued that the earth is going through a natural warming pattern. Others have said that it's not. In other words, the so-called experts are all over the map when it comes to global warming. So before we go trying to "fix" something, let's make sure it's broken.

Global Warming??
Excuse me, sherwin, the environmental groups no longer call it "global warming" because even they admit the earth isn't warming (at this time). They now call it "climate change". You know, that cyclical occurance that has beeen occuring for the last two billion years (or so).

An important set of observations...
...to which I think the appropriate lens is that of the survival niche.

Every organism has a survival niche -- a habitat, if you prefer. It moves toward such niches automatically, becaure they best favor its survival and flourishing. They provide it copious amounts of what it needs to prosper, while showing hostility toward those organisms that would prey upon it.

The survival niche of the Mainstream Media is Big Government.

Think about it.

First Lady of Flamboyance
Not only are Obama's disastrous progressive policies accepted/overlooked by the MSM - their blindness continues to include his wife, to the extent that it is becoming outright laughable!

I just finished reading an article on Drudge where she (in London) is gushingly called the "First Lady of Flamboyance" and is unbelieving described as having a "narrow waist". Unfortunately, the accompanying photo shows anything but a "narrow waist", nor have I ever seen one in any other photo of her.

Thus is the abject and truthful reporting of the MSM on any subject regarding 'The One'.

Change you can believe in
While it's glaringly obvious that the MSM has been MIA since Obama got elected, what gets little attention is how fewer and fewer Americans trust them or consider them to be relevant anymore.

Their status is about to change from MIA to KIA because of their intransigence.

They insist on ramming the same old BS down the public's throat becasue it's all they know how to do.

Their policy is akin to 'Get a Bigger Hammer', and the tallest nail ALWAYS gets hit first (Rush, Palin, Cheney, Hannity, etc).

They believe they will survive because they exhibit strength, however they forget that Darwin said, "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, but rather those that are most responsive to change."

Conservative newspapers aren't failing anywhere near the rate of Liberal ones, with the New York Times leading the pack, (and it can't happen fast enough for me), it's because they are willing to tell the people the truth.

BTW- Have any one of the 10,000 reporters in this country bothered to ask if any of these 'czars' are willing to work for a $1.00 a year like Obama wants the CEO's they now oversee to do.

Cronyism and the Good'ole Boy Network the likes of which have never been seen before....and the MSM doesn't call them on their sh!t.

It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

State Run Media
The state of the mainstream media is a great example of the soft tyranny that has developed in the United States. The government did not have to take over the media. After decades of Leftists dominating the press, they have willfully contributed their services to being the propaganda arm of the Obama administration.

edgycater.blogspot.com

Kool Kash Jefferson just went to trial
Who knew?

A Fawning Mainstream Media
Great column Larry, you mentioned Chris Matthews, this is the one and same Hardball proponent who after Barry's acceptance speech experienced leg tingles, naturally the first thing that popped into my mind was, holy prop 9 Batman, Chris must be gay but I was told not to presume so then I thought, maybe Chris has P.A.D Peripheral Arterial Disease, that would explain the leg tingles but then I came to my senses the realisation that Chris Matthews, just like Colin Powell are reacting to President Barry's skin color and his gift of gab or what I call "piimp-daddyism, which is the art and act of charming suckers out of their proverbial panties. Only Messiah's can do this now and you're probably wondering why panties and not say, boxers. Let me attempt to explain briefly from what I've observed over the years.
The act of piimpdaddyism is a "ghetto" behavior that is practised on quote unquote "Hoes" by their procurer or piimp/piimp-daddy where he get's (a) or (the) Ho to do his bidding by sweet talking said Ho or beeatch out of her underthings. Her underthings being well, you get the picture.
Which is what President Barry did to Colin Powell, Chris Matthews, all "flaming" liberals including most of the fawning mainstream media.

What MSM
The MSM is anything but main stream. It is just a bunch of progressive cheerleaders.

If anyone still believes anything printed by the MSM, I have some prime ocean front property in Arizona I'll sell real cheap. (Government hidden space aliens included free of charge.)

Great Article, Mr. Elder
It would almost be hilarious if it weren't so serious, how the MSM has become the cheering section for Obama. It appears as though they are having a cat fight trying to outdo each other to become Obama's "Monica Lewinsky".

MSM: Liars, Buffoons, Sycophants
I can no longer stand the smarmy butt kissing coverage of Obama provided by Harry Smith, Katy Couric, and others of their ilk. The do nothing more than carry Obama's baggage all the while acting all knowing and wise. I'm shocked that people actually believe those two sycophants.

Then there is the lunatic fringe "reporting" of Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann who in my opinion are certifiably insane. Yet, there are many who believe that those two buffoons are actually reporters and deal in factual information. When the networks and their liberal news"" staffs reporters finally wake up from their dreamworld of Camelot with a job, chicken in every pot and lollipops for all, they will see that the "Obamessiah" has singlehandedly destroyed the U.S. economy along with basic rights and freedoms that we have taken for granted.

The American Press has abdicated it's responsibility and is AWOL. That is why I get most of my news form cable news networks, internet bloggerss, and read political commentary from private/independent sources.

Surprised????
No one should be surprised by the MSM's boot licking of the obambi administration or any left wing group for that matter. As an example on the Today show this morning, they joked about obambi's teleprompter. I want a left wing nut to tell me honestly what they believe the media would have done had President Bush brought a teleprompter with him everywhere he went!

The ec. cannot go anywhere but
south.

Interest rates are rising. Our national debt service this year will already be $464 billion, EQUAL to Bush' *worst* deficit.

A Chinese audience laughed at Geithner when he called the dollar sound. We are spending $2.5 million a minute.

Unemployment is over 9% and headed for double digits even with summer employment added in.

Many retirees, pension funds, and simple investors and savers have seen their equity halved by the stock market drop. Consumers cannot spend if their have no disposable income.

King Elect O and has minions are choosing to *save* the ossified UAW, an obsolete industrial union, and trash the lives of teachers and public employees. That can't have an upside even in the short term.

The US auto industry is probably dead and Big O is just beating a dead horse.

The push for *universal* health care is dangerous for the ec. and for individual medical care. Medicare fraud is already est. at 30%--then add 300,000,000 to the rolls.

Everyone will be taxed more when the Bush tax cuts expire. Then the real O taxation will begin, likely on anyone earning $80,000 and up because there are not enough rich to fill in the deficit and debt gaps O is carelessly creating.

Soon, we will have super Carter redux: high inflation, high interest, high unemployment, and near permanent recession.

Those of you who vilified McCain and wouldn't vote, are you happy now?

With no due respect.
Most, msn media are traitors. Who do you think received the benefits of all that foreign money Obama spent during the election? MSN that's who.
I personally look forward to the day all these idiots are publicly prosecuted.

Me,I'm personally banned (404 error) by my hometown local news blog to this very day simply because I publicly supported McCain, Palin. That's not democracy.
There's no doubt in my mind that this happened to many other citizens in many other home towns across America.

Media in absentia!
You want to see media felony first-hand, read here http://theblacksphere.blogspot.com/2009/06/obama-saves-job s-again.html This is too funny, and showcases the tragedy that is the media. GREAT read!

Hey lloyd
Please define for those of us whoare unsure, what exactly is "hate radio".

Sounds like a liberal buzz word for radio shows that you don't like.

Thank God for the Internet
Everytime I read that people like Obama personally, I think 'who knows him personally'? If the general public was not so manipulated by the MSM and Obama's true colors were shown, his 'likeability' factor would be much lower.

Thank you, Mr. Elder for your article.

Saddam's Secrets
In Saddam's Secrets, Georges Sada talks about Saddam's WMD, and how it took convoys of semi trucks to haul them into Syria. But there's almost no mention of this story, even on Salem Radio Network.

Camelot Deux
Can anybody old enough to remember recall the press coverage of JFK after he took office? Or researched it? I was just a small kid then but I think it was pretty fawning and worshipful. They sure covered up his pecadillos with prostitutes including an East German spy and what was after all a pretty ineffectual presidency starting with Bay of Pigs.
All this by way of hoping that some day the press will resume something like a watchdog rather than lapdog status. Not holding my breath though.

Larry Elder asks------
"The President recently repeated the assertion that the stimulus package already "created or saved" 150,000 jobs and that going forward, the package expects to "create or save" 600,000 jobs by the end of summer. How does one prove a job "saved"?"

The answer to that question lies in manipulating the media with manipulated facts. To wit:
The Obama government predicted over 500,000 jobs would be lost in May and "only" about 350,000 were actually lost. Walla -- 150,000 jobs "created or saved" by Obama. It's simple when you can lie to the media and they believe the lies because they don't do their own work.

Great, great column!!!

BaO is poison!

TBC ~:>{)

Elder wrote
"Before the war, the paper wrote article after article--relying on both government and non-government sources--that assumed the presence of stockpiles. Three of its reporters even wrote a book called "Germs," in which they discussed Saddam Hussein's chemical and biological programs.

But when the stockpiles failed to appear, the paper felt used, manipulated by the 'devious' Bush administration. It promised its readers greater skepticism, more scrutiny, and no more at-face-value acceptance of assertions by the Bush administration."

And, as with Watergate, NY Slimes got SCOOPED! There actually was a stockpile of WMD, which Russians transferred OUT of Iraq prior to 2003 invasion (which Slimes never covered)

Gungy
Here is what I remember.

He was a young whippersnapper. They pretty much beat him up in the NY Times and other papers.

There was no fawning like today.

What they liked was that Jackie was young, pretty and had young children.

This was different from Ike and Mammie and from Truman.

None of the Camelot stuff started until 1962 when the play was on Broadway and the press started making a big deal about Kennedy being a new type president.

He was charismatic, but plenty of people did not like him. Young people liked him and he told people to get in shape. They started marathon type walks.

The press or someone obviously covered up all his affairs.

He was scorched on the bay of pigs, and he said that's the last time I will listen to all the military hotshots, ie generals and all.

He gained some respect with the Cuban missle crisis and hated Castro.

He would probably be a Republican be todays standards.

Going broke
Although they have beem morally broke for some time, thankfully, the major players in print MSM are going finacially broke and this will be the end. For all their glory they simply are not producing a product that Americans are buying in sufficient quantity to continue.

Chapter 13 for the NYT will be sweeter than when it hits GM.

msm
Have you noticed how they all are avoiding the despicable things that Letterman sad about Sarah Palins youngest daughter.Of course being a lib,he only has to apologize and all is forgiven. The sad part, there were many people in the audience that laughed.Sad,truly sad.

Also, note to all
the term "mainstream" is now outdated, the corrected term is LAMEstream abbreviated lsm (eh, that also abbreviates "liberal shill media")!

Main Stream Media

The Main Stream Media consists of

Scribblers

and

Babblers.

Query....
I heard through the grapevine that Mr. Elder will be running for the Senate, trying to unseat Dianne Feinstein in the upcoming 2010 elections. This would be awesome to be sure, but has anyone heard that from a credible source?

Walt
I know which article and picture you are talking about re Michelle Obomba. I saw that too. I could give a %%%% about her waist! That picture of her was awful. She usually looks nice but what she was wearing bombed terribly and yet, instead of saying this "wasn't her best look" they talked about her being "flamboyent." She's human! She usually looks good but that day she looked really bad! It was funny how the news media couldn't get themselves to say it! Let's call a spade a spade!

Extinction
We may yet enjoy seeing the MSM follow the dinosaurs into extinction as they officially join GM and Chrysler under CEO Obama. I truly hope the NY Times is the first to die off!

Kevin reply #17
You are good at tooting your own horn on Townhall. So I went and read YOUR blog. Good read, great job. I hope others read it too. Mr. Elder, great column as always!

LARRY ELDER
AT LEAST OUR NEXT PRESS SECRETARY,THANKS LARRY.

Media
I have watched over the years how the news media has changed from the "nondescript" neutral news reader to the hot young babes with lip gloss that shines in the dark and hair color that changes weekly...not even suits or professional attire, and the horrible delivery of the news. They gesture when reading, look at their partner, and read the news like it's a dramatic reading of a play! And then the weather bunnies...give me a break! Now the weather is becoming a dramatic reading! O Bozhe moi! Some of these people can't even read the teleprompter properly...they run sentences together to the point where you can't understand them! I'm soooo done with most news channels on TV which is why I am reading more news on the internet. At least I don't have to put up with sloppy looks or delivery.

That being said, is it any wonder these news bunnies are in the tank for Obomba? There's no thought behind any of this. They're stars on TV! They read what the news writers tell them to read. Real reporting went down the commode years ago.

useful idiots
The press is not missing in action, they're just following orders.

katrine&rita
i have a story that"s not been told my family and i were sent to jail by fema i would to expose the horrorable things that happen to us please call me for further detail my number is 504/473/8520 iam writing because iam tire just to mush do'nt know which to go life or death

Sheila - re: which way to go
I'd go troll somewhere else.

Against the current
Good point (svpallava). Language is critical in explaining truth. And the media in both print and network today is anything BUT mainstream.

The latest polls clearly show liberals make up a mere 20% of the population. You cannot maintain any business ignoring 80% of market.

Sadly, a free system of government CANNOT sustain itself without honest debate. Anarchy will be the result.

Will Obama now claim the media to big to fail ?
And will the new pay czar cap the salaries of those egos like Couric, Olberman, Mathews and the like ?
Wouldnt that be rich. Pun intended !

Great column, now what?
I agree 100% but what do we do to correct problem? I do not watch, read or respond to any of the liberal sources of information-NBC,CBS,ABC, CNN, HLN,CNBC,MSNBC, or NYT, Boston Globe, Wash. Post, and the many, many other failing liberal newspapers. Nor do I purchase anything from GE, , George Soros, or any liberal endeavor of which I am aware.
My lack of purchasing their products doesn't seem to have hurt them, however. there must be more I can do but I feel powerless.

MSM
As the Stalin-like the cult of personality (kult lichnosti) grows around Comrade Obuma, it is obvious the MSM = PRAVDA. C. O. is now God-like to some within PRAVDA, as was kindly old Uncle Joe, who brought the very sun to the USSR.

Media Bootlickers
Great read Mr. Elder as usual. Is it any wonder
that the "Media Bootlickers" are losing their ad
revenue and audiences-along with the obviously slanted NYT,etal people are fed up with this so called reporting as it is propaganda at best.

What is going to actually be funny, is when these snakes in the media, get THEIR lofty salaries cut in half as their Messiah taps into
their monies/freedoms just as he will the rest of the country's. The "Fraud In Chief" has done a great job of schmoozing the media and they ALL fell for his con job. They NEVER even
vetted this guy with any honesty or integrity as
they fawned all over him...NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

WHEN WILL SOME 'HONEST' REPORTER(IF THERE IS SUCH AN ANIMAL OUT THERE) LOOK INTO HIS ACTUAL ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE, MEDICAL & COLLEGE RECORDS AND COME CLEAN WITH THIS INFO, THAT BHO
HAS TEAMS OF LAWYERS(spent $900,000 so far) OUT THERE QUASHING THOSE ASKING THESE QUESTIONS.
HE HAS SIDESTEPPED OUR CONSTITUTION THAT DOES REQUIRE A POTUS TO BE "A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN"
AS HE ALSO TRIES TO HAVE JUDGES THAT LEGISLATE FROM THE BENCH. AMERIKA THE BEAUTIFUL?

GliderDriver...
Great name by the way. What type (SGS 233, Blanik, etc)?

I totally agree with your statement, but my fear is that the next institution deemed "too big to fail" will be the likes of the New York Times, SF Chronicle, MSNBC, etc. Then, like with the auto industry, the govt will bail them out, take control, appoint CEO's, determine pay, and....dictate stories (like the new "E-efficient" cars being dictated to GM). The MSM will become even more of a bull horn for the administration (if that's possible)...

MSM hasn't been neutral in my lifetime
and even before.

Edward R. Murrow, a famous "journalist" of the 40's and 50's spent much time criticizing Senator Joseph McCarthy. Much of that criticism has been proven false, even untruthful. There was no objectivity in his reporting.

Walter Cronkite, "the Most Trusted Man In America," was a vicious critic of the Viet Nam war. He was not at all objective. During the Tet offensive, which was a great allied victory, he told his listeners that the war wasn't winnable. Sounds like Harry Reid! Walter Cronkite gave up his veneer of objectivity soon after he quit his job.

Yes, there hasn't been a completely "objective" journalist in pretty much this countries' entire history. Why look for it now?

The "polling organizations" . . .
and "pollsters" are in the same bed with the "mainstream media". It should be a requirement that polling organizations and pollsters provide a list of the questions that they used to formulate their results. It is known that the manner in which a question is phrased will skew the answers. For example, when pollsters ask a question about "violence utilizing guns", the question asked will be "are you against gun violence?'. An answer in the affirmative will be used to show support for "gun control". The same goes for the "environMENTALists". Of course everyone wants clean air and water; they use "results" from polls to justify their communist intent.
TRUST NONE OF THEM. They are in the tank for obama.

The "mainstream media types" . . .
all want to get invited to the georgetown, washington cocktail parties. They are more interested in hobnobbing with the criminals in washington than they are in even TRYING to report objectively.

Obama's B.S. - an ever growing list
B.S.: “It is unacceptable for Iran to possess a nuclear weapon; it would be a game changer. It’s sufficient to say I would not take military action off the table and that I will never hesitate to use our military force in order to protect the homeland and the United States’ interests.” --BHO from “O’Reilly Factor” interview, Sept. 2008

Reality: "No single nation should pick and choose which nations should hold nuclear weapons." --BHO Cairo Speech June 3, 2009

B.S.: “Now, do these folks (terrorist suspects) deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to be treated like a shoplifter down the block? Of course not.” --BHO on “60 Minutes,” March 22, 2009

Reality: Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd confirms report that the FBI is reading Miranda rights to terrorist suspects in Afghanistan.

B.S.: "I'll veto any legislation with earmarks."

Reality: Signs omnibus spending bill with 9,000 earmarks.

B.S.: "All pending legislation will be posted online for five days so that the public can be adequately informed."

Reality: Crams legislation through congress before even those voting on it have had a chance to read it.

B.S.: "This administration is not interested in running GM."

Reality: We'll fire the CEO, appoint a new board of directors, dictate which cars they will be permitted to manufacture, and unilaterally put the US taxpayer on the hook for warranties. But other than that, we’re not interested in running GM.

B.S.: “We cannot continue the failed policies of 'borrow and spend.”

Reality: Does this B.S. even require comment?

B.S.: “Lobbyists won’t work in my White House!”

Reality: Lobbyists will work in his White House.

B.S.: “But there is no doubt that we’ve been living beyond our means and we’re going to have to make some adjustments. Now, what I’ve done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut.”

Reality: Again, does this horsesh*t even require comment?

Don . . .
you are correct. There has NEVER been an objective, honest media. It would be nice for one of the few objective media outlets (that remain) to expose the communist (oops I mean "progressive") leanings of the mainstream media.

Cindy
I have been following Kevin Jackson for about a year now! He is indeed a gifted man, but of course, since he doesn't agree with osama, I mean Obammy, he must be racist, right? ;-)

Anyway, if you've never read the comment threads and observed him sparring with libs, you ain't seen nothing yet! Some of his replies were so hilarious, that I would come close to wetting my pants!

no confidence
The voters are gradually catching on...now that it's to late.

WMD's
Five hundred chemical weapons seem like a stockpile to me - or at least the remnants of a stockpile. A vile of weapon bacteria in the back of a refrigerator is a stockpile, as far as I am concerned. Let's put the leftist lie to bed. WMD's were recovered from Iraq, just not in the number that we anticipated. The Iraq generals were calling for the chemical weapons because they wanted to use them. George Sata in his book told where the WMD's went. Where was the Sarin gas obtained that the terrorists tried to use again Jordan? Where was the Sarin weapon manufactured that was used against our troops as an IED? Dont' give me this leftist lie that WMD'w were not found. I read and so should your readers.

George
I agree with you. Saddam had plenty of time to remove most of the WMD because the UN was stalling on getting their job done.

I don't watch it & don't listen to it.
No MSM for me. I don't watch The View, Oprah, or any of those Obama lap dog TV shows.. I don't buy the newspapers and hardly read the little hometown bulletin we have where I live. I read books and a lot of different columnists online.

The MSM is garbage and I don't even want to be exposed to the stench of their Obama-fawning and lies. If they fail it is because they have chosen to be news-makers instead of guardians and questioners working for a free Republic.

The traditional media
Just had their last hurrah.ABC,CBS,and NBC are bleeding viewers.Newspapers are going bankrupt and The New York Times will be there shortly. Many Americans are on to them and are avoiding the mainstream media like the swine flu.Their reign is over.

I'm with you Barbara...

TV just has a bad smell anymore. Even the History channel is just reruns of Global Warming nonsense and 'end of times' Paganism.

Heck, the whole media line-up is nothing more than childish materialism and Al Gore's Pagan Earth worshiping.

I've never seen so much Narcissism in all my life. When did the Democrats decide that Kennedy's line ("ask what you can do for you country") really means: 'me first' and 'screw you'?

Godless creeps.

Check out the newspaper...
pictured at http://theblacksphere.blogspot.com/2009/06/obama-saves-job s-again.html. Dueling headlines: Huge type: "Jobless rate soars" Smaller, but still over-sized, type: "Obama says stimulus saving jobs" accompanied by a picture of the huckster, apparently glancing at or for his teleprompter. Instant absolute classic. "Jobs saved" are the new, promised "jobs created." Only Lewis Carroll could have said it better:

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

Scumbag Liberal Media
is loosing footing and fast. People are tired of the lies and left of center viewing. They want the news, not liberal spin (or conservative spin for that matter). they want facts and intelligent reporting as to what is actually taking place in this country. Fair coverage for all topics. It's a sad day in this country when the liberal media reports on Tiller the abortion doctor's murder 10 to 1 to our own US soldier being assassantied by a Muslim Terrorist. Anybody who is not a liberal elite or complete left wing loony toon is tired of the media spin. The days of liberal ideologues controlling what the American public knows and doesn't know are over. That's why Bill O' Reily and the rest of the Fox crew are DOMINATING the ratings. Because they report, and let the public decide. Unlike the scumbags at CNN, NBC, MSNBC, PBS, ABC, NY Times, Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Washington Post, and so so many more A hole liberal media outlets going down.

I hope they all lose their jobs, seriously... from the mail room boy to the CEO. Let them all go down in their pit of lies.

excuses
I can't believe the way the msm was making excuses for letterman today. When Imus said what he said a while back, you would have thought he blew up 3/4's of the globe!!

gutless media
As firm believers in name calling and labeling the main stream reporters live in fear of being called racist if they say anything unflattering of our half black president, no matter how wrong or daft his policies may be.

Congressman Jefferson Case of Cold Cash

Pistol

You're right, I googled it and the media didn't say a word about it that I know of. Unbelievable.

To Anthony
Just now I saw on TV that Eric Cantor has compared President Obama to Putin. The other day I read in the paper that Rush Limbaugh has compared him to Osama bin Laden. Several times today I have seen Reverend Wright brought back into the story. Since I don't live at the White House, how would I know any of these things if I hadn't seen them on TV or read them in the paper or online in excerpts from the media? Plenty of unflattering things are said about our President, black or otherwise.

You seem to allow for only two schools of thought: 1) Oppose Obama or 2) Pretend to agree with him for fear of being called racist. Do you really think that nobody approves of what he's doing? You don't think a black president could have actual supporters of his policies and initiatives? It all has to come down to race? But of course you're not being racist.

To Bill
If liberals make up 20% of the media market and 65% of the population approves of Obama, then an awful lot of conservatives must go for Obama.

Slip Sliding Away
Larry Elder Great job with some needed question. I have one thought
If it were Marion Berry or Bill Clinton the answer is the same “Great Blow” prevented a good word.
But away from the cheep shots and to the point. We know that the Obama Media LLC is in control of what is put into the mainstream media. According to this learned Harvard graduate we are just to underprivileged to make good decisions of what is needed in washing and how to spend our income. I am sorry but we no longer have income it is now been coded as “outgo” or “Lubricant for the Left”

We are having entered the point that even Chavez is saying the Obama is more left than him. Let us really get to the point of Washington being so deep in bed with the news. They have become the arm of the government like the translators of Orwell’s 1984 book. ‘Newspeak” is the language and we have become the “unperson” we will be exposed for our “thoughtcrime” which we will be punished by the “thought police”.

Yes I am surprised the president didn’t name his dog RoyterMSNCBSABCBBC not a great or melodic name maybe should more honestly should be called just plain old “PRESS”.

But gentle readers we will be saved by all of the CZARS. Has anyone noted the Socialistic connotation of that word. It is clear that the Obama is using the appointment of Czars to reinvent how the executive branch operates. Keeping the reporting structure vague is a tool of power. I have heard that the national anthem is being replaced with Paul Simons “Slip Sliding Away”

Larry Elder, et al
Please stop blaming the mainstream media for the same negligence and shirking of your responsibilities of which you, all media, the Executive (under Bush and presently Obama), Legislative, Judicial branches, DNC, Federal Election Commission, Electoral College (though not now in session) and others are guilty.

It is unseemly of all of you to blame others for your own failures.

Please see my blog entry here for an analysis of Obama, why we the people must get him out of office and rein in Liberals running amok, by legal means of course, post haste and how we can do it together. Click on my user name to go to the blog entry.

To Lilly
I didnt say that liberals make up 20% of the media. I wrote population. I.E. Electorate.

Conservatives make up about 30% and independants now make up almost 40%.

And no, The didnt come from a MSNBC poll like your 65% for Obama.
And no, it was the independant vote that got him elected.

I would appreciate if you quote me to be accurate.

Identity politics

Lilly or Lillith,

I am sure you are correct that for many on this site, identity politics is at play. Just as Obama receiving 95% of the black vote in this country is probably, you guessed it, identity politics.

The difference being, while white males that are bearing the burden of affirmative action programs and other government policies directed to helping the "disadvantaged" are being charged with "racism" for such behavior, engaging in identity politics goes unchallenged for minorities who support and directly benefit from these policies.

CZARS & WMD's
Russia has Czars. Remember in the 80s and 90s when people use to chant and laugh, "The Russians are coming?" Well, maybe, the Russians are in the White House. After all, President Obama keeps appointing Czars and according to the dictionary the meaning of a Czar is: a Russian Emperor; a Emperor or a King; an autocratic ruler or leader. So, that at least explains the bows. I'm surprised they haven't put crowns on their heads, but it does explain why they do whatever they want with total disregard for We The People.

Secondly, Bush was right. The Middle East had and has WMD's. They were searching in the ground, but the WMD's are walking above the ground with bombs strapped to their bodies; bombs in the cars that crash into hotels and market places; and those with two legs are much more dangerous who hate the Americans than those buried in the ground.

Identity Politics continued

I do not mean to say that all white men are or should engage in identity politics. Just as there are some minorities that get it. That is they look past their own skin color and see justice and equality as just that, a state according to the great MLK Jr. whereby people are judged on the merits of their character and not the color of their skin.

At one time the charge of being a racist really had evil connotations associated with it. It referred to people engaged in terror campaigns, lynchings, and other forms of despicable actions directed towards minorities.
While it was a very small percentage of people that would actually carry out such evil, we all bear at least a part of the responsibility for our nation's past.

Now however, it seems that anyone who opposes any policy action from the liberal left is labeled "a redneck, racist". Think its time to begin to disassemble affirmative action, you're a racist. Your Faith clearly defines same sex marriage as a sin, well you're a bible thumping bigot. Think abortion is wicked, well you're a red neck bigot. Concerned over the national debt? You guessed it, you are a tea-bagging racist red neck.

Many people are growing tired of it, and all of the political spin in the world is not going to change their hearts. Equality and justice for all is just that, period. And thank God for voices of reason such as the author of this article.

The MSM
is now being refereed to as the "state controlled media" by some.

All this will blow up in their faces when the economy continues to tank. Any signs of recovery will be weak and short lived.

Obamanomics will sink this country.

If the MSM thought they were embarrassed under Bush, they will be positively mortified by the end of the Obama term; if they are even still around by then.

They Created & Destroyed Mack
You might note also that it was the established pop media who kept John McCain's run for the Republican nomination alive when it had all but tanked by IIRC fall 2007. Even tho he was out of $$ & had little visible campaign support, he was continually talked up like he was an expected guest & the party wasn't happenin' without him.

Once he actually WAS nominated, tho, their enthusiasm for him started to, I dunno, maybe sag a little bit? All of a sudden he was plodding dour old Grandpa Grumpus, Bob Dole 2.0.

IMO Barry got elected because Mack got nominated, thus denying opponents of Barry & the totalitarian fringe leftist Democratic Party any meaningful alternative to their ill policies. And, hey, Mack sure excited all those "moderate independents" out there, didn't he? Why the enthusiasm for our illustrious Vietnam Veteran just had those ol' crickets chirpin' away, while the commies & the parasites rallied around the Young Cool Dude.

On Saddam's WMD's & Plan
Saddam was a murderous thug, but his madness had a method. He was not a fool. He had a plan, & it could have worked.

1st of all, it is a known fact he had or was developing chem & nuke weapons at various times. Why wouldn't he try again after 1992? Even foreign intel believed it.

When he invaded Kuwait, he counted on us to rattle sabers but do nothing, or at least hobble ourselves to impotence. He was counting on another Jimmy Carter, or even Reagan's error in Lebanon.

After 1992, he knew he couldn't possibly win a direct confront w/ the US again, & we would invade after all. So instead he decided to cut undertable deals w/ Germany, Russia, etc, while preparing plan B & constantly testing our patience.

Plan B was based on what he reasonably saw as our weakness: we had no endurance & no tolerance for casualties, & couldn't fight a guerilla war. Therefore he invited in all these terrorist guerillas from all around, equipped them, let them prepare, train, set up bases & caches & so on. Did you think all those non-military warehouses full of weapons we started finding after a week or so, & those networks of bunkers, tunnels, & safe-houses, & all those non-Iraqi "insurgents" just magically appeared the day before we invaded? Did you think he allowed, or couldn't stop, a foriegn insurgency to come in & set up shop without his OK?

No, he counted on them to snipe & bomb us till we turned tail within a mo or 3, while he hid in his spider hole till we left.

As to his WMDs: he knew his case would go hard if we found any, & it'd be suicide to try to use any. OtOH, if we couldn't find them, we'd be discredited. Thus, he got rid of what he could of whatever he had. Saddam made a good call, at least, expecting our MSM to natter & nag GWB over the missing WMD's.

No backbone;
Watch how the Democrats brow beat the media. If the Policy makers are caught in the mud up to their lying necks, they just tell the media they are not talking about that, end of conversation. Now how about these lovely flowers, lets have some questions on these.
