Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wants you -- to redistribute your wealth.

In Obamas highly publicized encounter with Joseph Wurzelbacher -- aka Joe the Plumber -- the candidate said he wanted to use taxpayers money to spread the wealth. A gutsy local Orlando television anchor interviewed Democratic vice presidential contender Joe Biden:

Anchor: You may recognize this famous quote: From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. Thats from Karl Marx. How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?

Biden: Are you joking? Is this a joke?

Anchor: No.

Biden: Or is that a real question?

Anchor: Thats a question.

The none-too-happy Biden denied that Obama wants to spread the wealth -- even though Obama used that exact term. When later given a chance on Good Morning America to retract, refute or moderate the statement he made to Joe the Plumber, Obama stood his ground.

Co-host: Any regrets that you ... said spread the wealth?

Obama: Not at all. Look, if John McCains best argument is that he wants to continue the same Bush tax cuts for the very wealthiest Americans it will prevent the economy from recovering.

Now comes a 2001 Chicago radio interview with then Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama. If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court, said Obama, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth It didnt break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.

Redistribution of wealth? Essential constraints?

Calling it congressional overreach, the Supreme Court routinely struck down major portions of considered Franklin D. Roosevelts New Deal. They considered it an assault on the Constitution. Only when FDR threatened to pack the court with New Deal-friendly justices, did the court crumble and begin to interpret the Constitution through the eyes of Roosevelts collectivist eyes.

The framers of the Constitution expected a limited federal government. They viewed the Constitution as a contract between citizens and government, designed to restrain the fed from undue intrusion into our bedrooms and our wallets. For example, the father of the Constitution, James Madison, vehemently objected to a 1792 congressional appropriation of $15,000 to assist some French refugees. Madison wrote, I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.

But rarely does a politician -- even a leftist Democrat -- flat-out say he intends to take money out of Pocket A and put it into Pocket B in order to spread the wealth. Usually politicians justify the money and power grab by calling it an investment. Or they falsely and unconstitutionally call things like health care, education or job training civil rights.

The issue to Obama turns not on whether government exists to redistribute the wealth, but on how it should be done. But he intends for it to be done.

Expect an Obama presidency to try and spread the wealth in two ways -- through Congress and through the courts. He first wants to raise taxes -- income, payroll, capital gains, dividends and estate -- on the so-called rich. After all, he calls this a matter of neighborliness. Biden calls it a matter of patriotism. Second, Obama wants to appoint judges who view the Constitution not as a contract, but as an obstacle to circumvent. We need somebody whos got the heart, the empathy, he said, in describing his standards for Supreme Court justices, to recognize what its like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what its like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And thats the criteria by which Im going to be selecting my judges.

Through the feds so-called bailout of private firms and private actors -- with the approval of both Democrats and Republicans -- we now witness the greatest increase in federal power since the New Deal. More horrifying, America now stands on the brink of electing a filibuster-proof collectivist Democrat Congress with a nakedly collectivist Democrat president leading the charge.

Wurzelbacher told me that he plans to campaign -- at his own request -- for John McCain. Why? He calls Obamas spread the wealth plan scary.

Wish we could say it aint so, Joe.

The Obama Equation
Solve this problem

Democratic President + Democratic Senate + Democratic House of Representatives + Democratic Media = ???

Answer: Obama the Marxist will do untold damage to the economy

He's smart enough not to come right out and admit to being Marxist, but it's there between the lines.
Negative Liberty = Adam Smith
Positive Liberty = Marx
What does this have to do with Obama?
Glad you asked!

Obama on our constitution:
"...the Constitution is a document of negative liberties, says what the states can't do to you, says what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf."

For most people, including those listening to that broadcast, the word NEGATIVE is synonymous with BAD. Obama knows this. If Obama knows anything, he knows how to choose words carefully. Although Obama is making other points, this information sheds more light on Obama's attitude toward our Constitution. Obama is a constitutional scholar, and if he wanted to make the Constitution and its "negative liberties" sound like the best thing since chicken noodle soup he would have chosen different words.

For some insight, take a glance (online) at the book "Negative Liberties" by Cyrus R. K. Patell. This book, perhaps coincidentally, was released three months before Obama made his comments. Do you think Patell admires the negative liberties of the U.S. Constitution? Do Patell and Obama have similar viewpoints? Wouldn't it be nice if someone had the courage to ask Obama about this and insist on a straight answer? Wouldn't it be nice if more voters actually cared?
Everyone please study this issue more.

You say po-ta-to, I say pa-ta-to,
but it's all Socialism if you're talking about Obama and his leftist illuminati platform.

Tell the truth and shame the Devil
I wonder how many of you TH'ers make under 250,000 dollars and would actually BENEFIT from Obama's tax cut but are just too emotionally invested in the GOP to admit it. If you make under 250K and support McCain, please tell me why. *curious*

PopYoColla: my "non-existent tax cut"
PopYoColla,

My family income is $90,000. I understand enough economics and logic to realize Obama can't get enough dough from the 5% to do all he wants. I'm worried Obamanomics, i.e. poorly disguised socialism-lite, is going to create a GDP cut for the country and an income cut for me in the process. Maybe protectionism and more government is the answer. Gotta get back to my "all-the-donuts-I-can-eat" weight loss diet...

Capitalism vs. Socialism
Think back a few years ago when China was a complete Socialist country. At that same time, Hong Kong was the most freely capitalistic country in the world. China was "fair" and "equal", as Obama would like us to be. Hong Kong's wealth was NOT fair or equal at all, but everyone in China wanted to go be "poor" in Hong Kong! The best and easiest illustration one can use to show what each system provides it's people. Today, China is moving toward capitalism and we are VOTING TO GO RADICALLY THE OTHER WAY?!

Judicial Appointments
Judges are the thing that really frightens me about a marxist like Obama. I'm so glad you brought that up, Mr Elder, because almost nobody else does. And keep doing it over and over and over until election day. Legislation can be reversed by new congressional leaders, but judges are forever - and they will support marxism and the Fairness Doctorine which will favor the liberal media and crush dissent of the free once and for all, changing the landscape of the US into a soviet imitation for the rest of our lives - literally.

Check out this video which spells out Obama's marist tendancies very graphically as well as give you a taste of an Obama future world (cut and paste into your browser:

And a blog with more videos:

PopYoColla - I'll take that on
Pop, assuming you really are open and curious, think about how much of the GDP (total dollar value of all goods and services produced in the US in a year)are generated by those making $150,000 to $250,000 (the range from Team Obama on any given day for who get's taxed more, directly. Each of those people review finances and decide: can we buy a car, wood floors, interior designers, etc. and the answer is going to be "let's not". This drops off the income of everyone directly or indirectly in all industries where that discretionary income is going to the government to pay for another bureucracy or other wasteful spending. Remember the "luxury tax" on yachts a few years ago? Killed the boat industry (and Kennedy, et al. quietly repealed it). The GDP will definitely go down and that means everyone is producing LESS goods and services, which means more layoffs and "bad times" in general. What Obama is proposing has been tried so many times in history, I am amazed he is so mis-educated until I realize everyone he associates with and has been mentored by has been a Marxist. See my post above on Capitalism vs. Socialism and read "Free to Choose" by Milton Friedman if you really are curious. You won't really "get it" through blog postings, you have to read the right stuff then it all "clicks". Hopefully, you were sincere and that this helps.

THANK YOU LARRY ELDER
Keep up the good work and spreading the "true' word about the "real" Obama. Our country as we once knew it will be gone in 60 seconds the minute he is President.

Dr. Grace Mandicott Fountain

PopYoColo
Please tell us why you support Obama just to get a $500 refund check
taken from the Rich and given to You.

This has nothing to do with money.

PopYoColo
Pop, just by asking that question, I believe you show that you can't possibly understand the answer. You fall into the same category as the dems who belittle American workers who vote against their economic interest by voting for the GOP. It has too much to do with putting your country, your beliefs, and your principles ahead of self-interest. Just as Al Gore put himself (in his own words) ahead of his country and his party, those who would do likewise can't comprehend those who choose otherwise. This is why we in the military have to deal so little with liberals. They simply don't put their country ahead of themselves by serving their country in any great numbers.

Try to understand these simple facts and you might just become us.

MAJ Gross

Idiocy squared
Of all the stupid things yiou conservatives have y=used to try to win this election the Socialism thing is the stupidest. You dont know what it means and every time you write the word you must at least wonder "what the heck am I writing about" Doesnt stop you though. We have had redistribution of wealth ever so=ince weve had a government that collected taxes and you are history foolish not to know it. And mostly you and i and almost all americans like the idea or at least the fruits of it . Do you own a house and deduct the mortage interest on yoyur taxes. I dont. You are takinf=g part of my wealth and using it to subsuidize yourself. Education expense deducted. Same thing. I could go on and on but if you dont get the idea by now you never will. I guess the socialist thing is something akin to the rationale we used to justify the bombing of Dresdemn in WW2. It may not do any good to do it or try it but what the heck have we got to lose. Its the other guys that get killed. Either way you had better get used to it. Obama will be elected and will be our president for 8 years, God willing. If he is a secret socialist all you consservatives are doig is giving hime a chance to say I told you so and you acknowledged it when I ran for president.(That i was a Socialist) the American people elected me anyway so what are you complaing about if i do try to change the country.

Start Spreading
Obama and Biden are hypocrites. If they think spreading the wealth is such a great and noble thing why don't they start by spreading their own wealth? Why don't they give more to charity? Why do they exploit every tax loop to limit the taxes they owe. Hypocrites, liars, etc...

Ignorance is the key
The problems facing our nation are complex. I work very hard to stay informed (often reading several hours per day). Keeping up is difficult. Voter ignorance and politician ignorance allow these problems to continue growing.

Part of the problem is that too much power is concentrated in Washington and our leaders are entrusted with too many important decisions. How can they possibly keep up with foreign policy, domestic policy, health care policy, economic policy and still have time to read legislation that is hundreds of pages long, and still have time for perpetual campaigning? Answer: THEY CAN'T DO IT. And yet people can make good decisions about who should be president with minimal knowledge about government and current events?
I don't think so.

Then there are the voters. There are probably millions of voters who consider themselves "Obamacons." This is impossible. It's an oxymoron. "Conservative" and Obama are like oil and water...they don't mix. A so-called Obamacon is someone who either doesn't understand what a conservative is or doesn't understand what Obama is. This kind of ignorance needs to stay away from the polls.

Obama's policies, Larry Elder
Mr. Elder is right on in what he says!!! More and more comes out about Obama and, yet, there are those who don't think, who are so enamored, that they will vote for him anyway.

Personally, I think McCain is too liberal, but he is a much better choice than Obama.

May God help us!!!

The smoking gun
In the 2001 interview, Obama regrets that the Warren Court failed to impose "redistributive change" because "it didn't break free from the essential constraints that the Founding Fathers placed in the Constitution."

His clear, repeated intention to bring about "redistributive change" means he is committed to bypassing the "essential constraints." How could a man who believes that Constitutional constraints are an obstacle to be overcome possibly take the Presidential oath (which is set forth in Article II, Sec. 1 of the Constitution) to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?"

If he is elected and takes this oath, he should immediately be impeached -- not just for perjury, but because there can be no greater Presidential high crime and misdemeanor than subversion of the Constitution.

The Blue States Just Don't Get IT

I used to have much fondness for and would give much credit to our states in the northeast and the central region, but they've gone sideways on us.

I don't know where all of the socialism came from (especially IL and MN), but it makes me want to avoid them in my travels.

And that makes me sad.

Hey guys! Clean up your act, will you, please. Come back from the dark side.

Obama, the joke
It is no joke that America is on the brink of possibly electing the most liberal, extreme, naive and ill-prepared man in its history as president. What kind of illuminati, Mt. Olympus Kool-Aid has Obama been drinking and how did he manage to get it in the hands of so many? Oh, the media campaign wing. How could I forget?

PopYoColla
PopYoColla asks "If you make under 250K and support McCain, please tell me why. *curious*
"
First of all, I'm not FOR McCain, but AGAINST Obama.

It's obvious from reading his writings and listening to him, that Obama is under the impression that government exists to confiscate from the productive the fuits of their labor and to pass it on to the unproductive or less productive.

He is convinced that the sole purpose of citizens is to toil for equality of outcome in society, not equality of opportunity. He is convinced that those of us who've sacrificed, worked hard and risked our savings to create businesses (and therefore jobs) are a necessary evil who exist solely for the purpose of providing him with taxes with which he can "redistribute the wealth."

I don't believe that anyone has the right to set an arbitray limit on people's rights based on their income.

Those who agree with Barack Obama are short-sighted half-wits without a grasp of history or even the fundamentals of economics. Those who think this is a Democrat/Republican issue are deluding themselves. This is a government vs citizens fundamental property rights, and the destruction of the Constitutional rights provided to us all.

Without property rights, no other rights are possible.

The tax cut that wasn't

Forget the 250k plus because it doesn't affect many. The rollback on the Bush tax cuts, a BHO proposed 28% on any profit from the sale of a house (McCain has a 500k exemption), a 39% capital gains tax only in the interest of "fairness" will have an impact on many of us.

Anyone who votes for this charlatan either wants something for nothing or has BDS so bad that they are willing to sacrifice the nation for revenge. It is very dark where these types keep their heads.

PopYoColla
"I wonder how many of you TH'ers make under 250,000 dollars and would actually BENEFIT from Obama's tax cut..."

I make well under $250K and probably always will. But even if Obama's "tax cut" wasn't totally bogus, the fact that I would benefit from it doesn't make it right to take money from the guy who makes $250K and give some of it to me.

Besides, what's Obama going to do when the guy who's making $240K decides not to try and grow his business by another $10,000 because it's all going to go to taxes anyway? Make him grow the business anyway?

There was only one period in this country's history when the Government actually helped this country grow, and that was when it passed the Homestead Act, provided right-of-way for the Transcontinental Railroad, and granted land for state universities. And in all of those cases, it was a matter of Uncle Sam getting out of the way and letting Americans do what they do best.

If Obama's so concerned about the poor, let him take care of his brother in Kenya and his aunt: "Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston. "

Larry Elder: Senator Gov...
Larry,

I enjoy listening to 790 am in radio Los Angeles and now your writings here. You have tremendous insight that keeps me thinking. I appreciate them lots so keep it up. This article is another affirmation of your talents...keep it up!!

refatsew - boy are u blind
The defination u gave is correct.

However, you described Obama with the samedefination.

He is all about that exactly.

Look at whats going on, currently.
Look at what democrats have done since FDR.

You got the socialism there.

Btw,u incorrectly have Buffets comments wrong too.

Btw, the 90's and previous rates?
He wants pre-reagan rates not pre-bush.

Pre-reagan rates were double current.
But also had huge amt of deductables in that you could litterally deduct almost any expense.
While nowadays u cant.

He wants to go back to that with the exception that he wouldnt bring bback the nearly unlimited deductability.

The lower rates allowed all people to spend/invest/contribute more and thereby increased the tax revenue hugely.

He & Congress are already talking about removing two other rights we have.

Removing the secret ballot from a union members choices - I will never honor that removalmyself.

Gun control - is removing handgun ownership & mfg ... meaning we wont be able to protect self & family..

Just like Great Brittian where it is illegal to have self defense...ie; u cannot kill a burgler even if he is in the process of killing you.

I plan to ignore any law that keeps me from protecting my life or that of my family.

$250k ...been changed often.
Both obama & biden have been adjusting that amt..
seems now they have gone as low as $150k.

Wont be long before they get tot the 50% of us who pay less than 3% of all taxes.

Btw, if you make $65k or less you are part of the bottom 50% who pay less than 3% of all taxes.

refatsew

Apparently you haven't actually read Obama's writings or listened to him speak.

Yes, ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

Hypnosis ?????
I have asked several people in the last few weeks "Why are all these people acting like he is THE MESSIAH? Could Obama be hypnotizing these people. I knew I had been to a hypnotist to try to quit smoking and I knew it can work. Yesterday on his show, Rush Limbaugh brought this up. You can go to
http://www.rushlimbaugh and read it for yourself under Wednesday's show. At the end of the article there is a website you can go to and they will explain how Obama is doing it. They show you phrases he uses and the way he does it. Now after reading all this I am convinced that is what he is doing and why his infomercial was so important for him. I am glad I blacked out his infomercial. I figured it was just more lies anyway and I have heard all his lies I want to hear.

By the way, there is a prayer group that is saying a prayer for our country and for McCain/Palin at 9:00 eastern time every night. Please stop what ever you are doing and join us with a prayer to save our country. The power of prayer can overcome evil.

Being one of the few...
folks in my office who is a conservative (fiscal). I work with a lot of people at least 15 years younger than me. They believe life should be fair. They should be able to have what ever it is they desire and all of their needs should be quaranted for by the goverment . That politians are noble and smart people (at least democratic politians) and should decide what is too much money for one person to make and should pass along what ever is above that amount to them. Their college should of been paid for by the goverment (how many liberal arts graduates do we really need) and health care is a right, and should be paid for by the goverment. Of course most of the people I work with go to the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle, can't wait to hear them whine about it taking a month to go see their doctor when the goverment is in charge, of course I will be there to say I told you so.

I guess my point is, alot people are willing to give up their freedoms for what they perceive as security. The people of this county right now at the apathy to dependence stage and are heading to the dependance and bondage stag very quickly and that seems just fine for most of them.

What constitutes a virtual lie?
You have taken Senator Obama's "spread the wealth" out of context and transformed it into "redistribute your wealth"
In context the comment was not in any way Marxist, and you know it.
Shame on you.
Be honest.

Popyocollar...
I'm currently unemployed and therefore am making $0. My vote will be cast for McCain/Palin for the following reasons:
1. While all four of the candidates are economic illiterates, McCain/Palin will do less damage. The best way to turn the economy around is to let it run it's course and SHRINK the size of government. Not expand it. There is no easy way out of this mess.
2. Remember the old adage about "company you keep"? I have no respect for any of Obama's advisors, constituents, etc.
3. His plans to meet with the leaders of Iran, Venezuela, N. Korea, etc. are incredibly naive. There is absolutley nothing to be gained from this.
4. Abortion. We've aborted 49 million babies since Roe vs. Wade.
I agree it should be an option for medical reasons - rape, incest, etc. But, abortion has become a form of birth control. With regard to sexual conduct in this country, there has been a complete collapse of morals. This is of no concern to Obama.
...... I could go on and on..but I need to find a job. If Obama is elected, will he give me some of HIS money?

Pop
What so many people are trying to get through to you is that it's not about programs, but about PRINCIPLES. Something our nation seems to have forgotten.

PopYoColla....
I'll respond to that. There are LOTS of small business owners who make less than 250k, Or is it now 200k, or as Biden just said 150k. Certainly you aren't this naive are you? Jobs are cut, NOT created, when expenses go up(taxes). The small business owner already has lots of overhead. The capital gains tax hike up to 39% is going to be the stock market killer. Just look at what Wayne Hyuzunga just said, he is going to sell 45% of the Miami dolphins now, in case Obama is elected and raises the cap. gains taxes. He said would rather give the profit to charity of HIS choosing with that money, than to let obamacommie decide who to re-distribute the money to!!

MCCain is gaining!
This morning's polls from the most reliable of the bunch - Zogby, IBD, Gallup and Rasmussen - have McCain within the margin of error.

Go to http://www.goptrust.com and watch the national ads they are running in battleground states and beyond: The Rev. Wright association; and a few on Obama's plan to give any illegal immigrant a driver's license.

These ads will help make the difference with the undecideds - and give McCain the election.

Sarah Conner
Good post. Take this to work and post it on the wall:

Liberalism is a genetic defect inherited from the last, most timid person to leave the safety of the cave.

Joe the Plumber
should sue the DNC for his continuing background check.

We can't find out Obama's background but they can check on anyone. With 60,000 signers and still going Obama's birth certificate can't be produced. Illinois started a petition had 4,700 signers and had to be shut down in Aug because of a threat against the families. Care2 has over 3,300 and we are being ignored. There are 8 other different state inquiries and our representatives ignore the facts. The judges need to go. Please sign the petition at

"This woman is exceptionally brave. When one considers how the Obama Campaign, as well as the mainstream media, has treated apostates from the church of the Obamessiah one has to appreciate the courage this act of honesty represents. I think she hits the nail on the head with this: I can no longer justify what this party has done and can't dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It's wrong and someone has to say that. And also say that the Democratic Party's talking points—that Senator John McCain is just four more years of the same and that he' President Bush's now just hooker lines that fit a very effective and perhaps wave-winning political argument doesn't mean they're true. After all, he is the only one who's worked in a bipartisan way on big challenges. Heed this woman’s warning. Obama does not represent some new age transformational change, he represents the bare knuckled politics of t...

@Gene Touchet
If you claim that 'spread the wealth' and 'redistribute the wealth' are different, will you please provide specific, detailed evidence of why in your eyes this is so?

Bad Moon Rising
CCR put out a song in the 70's called "Bad Moon Rising" we are living that song.

"Don't go around tonite, it's bound to take your life, there's a bad moon on the rise."

The Bad Moon is Obama.

Questions...
A couple questions for BHO. What is your real target amount of what we can earn before you begin taxing it away from us? Is it $250K, or $200k, or $150K. You and your running mate have mentioned all these amounts. Also, what will be the effective tax rate once we start earning over your target amount? 28%? 34%? 48? 70%? How many married couples, who both work and have a combined income of more than your target amount (whatever it is), will simply get divorced in order to split their income and avoid your higher tax brackets?

How many small business will refuse to grow beyond your target amount? (They will do this by refusing to expand, i.e., hire new workers.) How many small business operators will be taxed out of business? How many employees will lose their jobs as a result of your new (old) target the rich scheme?

BHO and the Minimum Wage...
And, let's remember your pledge to raise the minimum wage each and every year; which has two effects, one, it forces businesses to pay more to their workers--without regard to merit or their productivity, and two, these increase are, if possible, simply passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices for the goods and services they purchase.

Increases in the Minimum Wage are, of course, nothing more than a stealth tax. BTW, who benefits most from Minimum Wage increases? The government, of course. Because the more people earn the more they pay in taxes. So, anytime the government wants to rake in more money without a tax hike, they can simply raise the Minimum Wage; all the while claiming they're doing it to help the little guy--who they haven't really helped at all, because he's now paying more for the stuff he needs to survive.

Where is the Minimum Wage headed? As the Minimum Wage gets higher and higher businesses will be forced to start bringing their top wage earners down to the level of the Minimum Wage--thus "equalizing" all workers. (BHO says equality is good, right?) With accelerated help from BHO the Minimum Wage will quickly become a National Wage--the government mandated wage all workers will be paid.

Government control of wages is, of course, unconstitutional. But no one will ever challenge it, for fear of being run out of town on a rail. But, with BHO in office the whole question of what's constitutional will be a moot point. He'll be telling us what's constitutional and what's not.

It's just plain wrong
I couldn't vote for Obama because he has such disdain for our Constitution, which he plans to subvert by seizing our wealth to redistribute it. An Amendment to the Constitution gives the government the right to tax us to pay for its essential duties, which are to protect our God-given rights. It does not give them the right to our property to give to others.

No less important is Obama's terrible choice of friends, mentors and advisors, including terrorists, anti-Jewish, anti-Americans, racists, crooks, communists, drug dealers and foreign leaders of questionable integrity. No doubt Obama's foreign policies would be shaped by their input.

Whether Obama would give me $500 to buy my vote or not, I will not sell out my love for this country and watch him try to destroy it.

the cheapening of the radical label
Wow, Obama actually thinks that both tax policies and court decisions should be grounded in an understanding of how the world actually is. How radical.

What a phone call to the "Wealth...
...Redistribution Department" might sound like.

Early in comedian Bob Newhart's career his comedy routine consisted of the audience listening to him make a hypothetical phone call to someone or some company. I wonder how someone would call the Obama "Wealth Redistribution Department" to put in a claim for someone's wealth. Maybe the call would go like this:

"Hello ... is this the Wealth Redistribution Department? It is ... well, I'd like to put in another claim for someone's wealth! I know ... I know ... I put in a claim last month but I'm still having problems. I planned to use the last wealth redistribution check to pay my mortgage bill but once I got the money I figured if I went to the casino and doubled the money at the crap table then pay my mortgage bill ... What? Line 3605 of the Wealth Redistribute Law says I can only use the wealth to buy Lottery Tickets. Oh ... I didn't know that. Well, I'll remember that next time. I ... I wanted to inform the department that my neighbor just graduated college, got a better job and a pay raise ... Yes, he has some excess wealth ... I'd like to file a claim ... Yes ... on his wealth ... That's right. Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll be looking for it by the end of next week. Can I receive that in some bills?"

Obama knows it is easier for the government to spread someone elses wealth than it is to show someone how to create their own wealth. Or, for family to help another member through a rough patch in life when they know the government will do it.

And the irony is... Obama has NO IDEA how the world actually is.

People like the Obama's and Bill Ayers think the world's biggest problem is America!

Obama is a career politician who has had absolutely zero exposure to reality. And NO living in Indonesia for 30 minutes when he was a child doesn't count...

Good luck. The chances of Gene Touchet answering your direct question is slim to none. Liberals very rarely answer direct questions, but instead resort to insult, obfuscation or changing the subject.

Dem Senator Vs Anciet Roman Movies
I know its late to say it, but every time I hear the Spread the wealth spiel.
It reminds me of the old movies and even in the recent 'Gladiator' movie, where the leader of the Senate is addressing the Emperor that the city 'Roman' is in shambles, the poor need sanitation housing and they need to redistribute the wealth of 'Ceasar'
Now days the Dems take it to mean, we the GOP are seen as; 'Ceasar' the wealthy and all powerful, while they the Senate are for the people!
What a laugh and farce!
Not time did you here the wealthy Senator say his wealth, or his contribution, it was always 'Ceasars'.
Snob wealthy poor trash with money greed than sense have used this to malign us and persuade the less insightful to their cause.
It is a sham and always has been. The wealthy class are those that control Wall Street, the Banks, the Insurance Companies, Stock Markets and Financial imports exports.
We the People work our assets of to make a product, harvest a crop or provide a needed service out of the money world and we are the evil ones, we are the Rich to them.
Well I am rich, with Gods Graces, family friends and knowledge. I will never vote Dem.
McCain/Palin'08

I like this little story....
Yesterday on my way to lunch at Doe's, I passed one of the homeless guys in that area, with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' Once in the Doe's my waiter had on an 'Obama 08' tee shirt. When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter and explained to him while he had given me exceptional service, that his tee shirt made me feel he obviously believes in Senator Obama's plan to
redistribute the wealth. I told him I was going to redistribute his tip to someone that I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The
homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful. As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific edistribution
experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the
money he did earn. Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on, with those doing the work.

I sent this too a very liberal friend of mine. Her only retort was that we already have wealth redistribution in this country. I wrote back....well get ready for more.

PopYoColla
We make well under $45,000 a year but we will vote for McCain with confidence.

Why? Because we work for a living and don't want or need handouts from the Federal Government.

Besides, it we all sat on a couch all day, it would shorten our lives.

SOLUTION TO RESTORE AMERICA'S GREATNESS

.....THE WISDOM OF COLOSSUS ...

.....End all Corporate and Business Tax ...they just pass it on to consumers anyway ...

.....This will bring all the Companies that moved their operations offshore back home ...this will create jobs and the economy will recover ...

Wealth Redistribution
How well does it work in Chicago?

email I just got from goptrust.com
Thanks to one of the greatest responses in internet history, we at the National Republican Trust PAC met our goal overnight of raising $4 million in our emergency effort to stop Barack Obama.

We plan on unleashing millions in TV ads this weekend to expose Obama for the radical he is.

Last night Bill O'Reilly on Fox News featured our new ad reminding voters of Obama's long relationship with the radical anti-American minister the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Dick Morris told Bill that this ad can win the election.

You can see this powerful ad and our other powerful ads exposing Obama — go to http://www.goptrust.com

Also, last night Obama spent tens of millions on prime time television in a fit of megalomania.

Now this weekend, we can outgun him with a massive TV ad campaign.

Remember many voters don't make up their mind until the last minute. Many voters change their planned vote in the days before the election.

Gallup again today has McCain behind Obama by 3 points — this is still a dead heat.

You can still have an impact with this race. We want to raise a total of $5 million by tomorrow. We can still place ads for the weekend and Monday.

The more you contribute the more ads we can buy.

Help us make that goal. Don't believe the media spin that Obama is already elected. Prove them wrong!

On a personal note, I say we Republicans "get in the voter's faces" with these ads!

As Elder and Sowell state
"Redistribution of wealth" invariably translates to equalisation of poverty.

Even in India during the time of obvious socialism (can't remember whether Nehru or his termagant daughter), a Tamil magazine editor S Ramaswamy aka "Cho" wrote a play with the following plot.

A man is elected ruler of "swarg" (sanskrit for heaven) after promising to bring Kuchela (abject poverty) to the same level as Kubera (god of wealth in Hindu mythology). After three years, swarg is totally shambolic and the inhabitants complain to the ruler--who then states "I promised to equalise you; well, I brought Kubera down to Kuchela's level, so I have kept my promise".

That is also what bh0 will bring to this nation--if it even lasts as independent (since he's willing to give over the keys of admin to the Useless Numpties).

Spread the wealth
I believe Sen. Obama a much greater vision for America than just to spread the wealth. How about the dismantling of basic freedoms we take for granted? Maybe some of us don't use some of these freedom, but I sure don't want to lose them. FAIRNESS does not necessarily equal his "spread the wealth" doctrine. In fact, if you work hard for your money as many do every day, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, is it FAIR to allow someone who works 20 hours at McDonalds, which is his right, to share your wealth? I would so NO. That isn't fair.
The ideas on the left actually SKEW fairness according to their beliefs.
Is is FAIR to prevent us from listening to someone on the radio who shares our beliefs (or not) versus a "fair" law that makes the radio or tv show share both sides? NO, it is not! If I wanted to watch a liberal one-sided station I'd turn on NBC or MSNBC. Yet the Fairness Doctrine wants equal time for any dissenting opinion. It's ridiculous and goes against our basic freedom to choose.
Is forcing everyone to have healthcare FAIR? No, some people can afford healthcare on their own. Or, they simply may not want it. No, it isn't fair to force us to use gov't sponsored healthcare.
So, don't believe Obama is about FAIRNESS. He is only using fairness under his terms and those terms are socialistic plain and simple.

Todd
Thank you! L am forwarding it to everyone I know that is for the GOP. Bill O'Reilly deserves a big thank you, too.

Economic reform
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects the money, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people, even though business has to pay thousands or millions of dollars at one time, and get it back from us one dollar at a time.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone, including government.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third, While Democrats have 47 Trillion Dollars in new taxes written in bills awaiting action to quadruple the tax burden of all Americans, except for tax-exempt rich liberals.

Not looking good for democracy, but...
There's hope yet. I found a couple of different things lately that have lifted my spirit somewhat.
Seems all is not lovey dovey in the D columns lately

Not a Socialist - oh no.
"Co-host: Any regrets that you ... said spread the wealth?

Obama: Not at all."

but he's not a Socialist. He just wants to control the wealth. totally different you see.

It all depends on what the definition of "is" is.

Obama's Radical and Communist Allies
Barack Obama was mentored by Communist Frank Marshall Davis, Communist writer and poet (1905-1987).

Frank Marshall Davis was identified unequivocally as a CPUSA member in a 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities.

----------------------------------------------

Barack Obama carefully chose William 'Bill' Ayers who said, "Kill all the rich people. ... Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents."

In the 1960s, Bernardine Dohrn and her husband Bill Ayers were leaders of the "Weatherman" faction, which in 1969 went underground to become America's first terrorist cult.

Barack Obama launched his political career in the home of Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

----------------------------------------------

Alice Palmer met Barack Obama during meetings at the home of Bill Ayers and hand picked Obama to fill her newly vacated 'State Senate Seat'.

Alice Palmer served as an executive board member of the U.S. Peace Council, which the FBI identified as a Communist front group.

----------------------------------------------

Michael Klonsky was chosen by Barack Obama as a blogger on the 'Obama official Website'. Klonsky a former leader of 'SDS' - Students for a Democratic Society and a leader of the 'New Communist Party'.

----------------------------------------------

Tim Wheeler is a National Board member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), and has been a key figure in the party's Baltimore chapter since the early 1970s. He helped organize local canvassing and visibility events for Obama, and he chronicled his experiences on the campaign trail in a blog that appeared on the Obama campaign website.

----------------------------------------------

Jeremiah Wright was carefully chosen by Barack Obama to 'Mentor' him and be his spiritual guide.

Mentor Wright became famous for screaming 'God Damn America' from the pulpit at TUCC.

Obama's slicker than 'Slick Willy'

One thing Barack Hussein Obama made 'Crystal Clear' in his speech on wednesday, he makes 'Slick Willy' look like an amateur when it comes to lofty rhetoric!

The speech hit almost all of the 'Hot Buttons' that his followers wanted to hear, without any specificity of how those 'Catch Phrases' will be accomplished.

The essence of Obama remains the same, 'anything you want is Obama Change and everything you feel is Obama Hope'.

Obama has convinced himself, the MSM and his followers that America is without 'Hope' unless Obama can 'Change' America.

The underlying 'Obama Principle' is about rewarding failure and punishing success.

Obama believes that 'those less equal' shall become 'equal', typical Marxist rhetoric.

Obama like most Marxists, believe the only reason that Marxism has failed miserably anywhere it has been tried, is because the wrong person has led the 'Revolution' and Obama believes he is the 'One' to finally accomplish Marxisim.

SueDi must be a gun nut
"SueDi: I believe Sen. Obama a much greater vision for America than just to spread the wealth. How about the dismantling of basic freedoms we take for granted?"

Gee SueDi, you sound like a gun nut, a religious nut, and someone who thinks the freedom of speech includes criticizing a diety like Obama.

The truth is that Obama is four-square behind all of the freedoms he supports. He also supports the Constitution, provided that the fundamental flaws are corrected.

Obama Building Framework

What is the difference between socialism and communism?

Socialism can only grow directly from Capitalism.

Communism can only be achieved from Socialism.

Socialisms slogan is: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his DEEDS."

Communisms slogan is: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his NEEDS."

Socialism and communism are alike in that both are systems of production for use based on public ownership of the means of production and centralized planning.

Socialism is the first step in the process of developing the productive forces to achieve abundance and changing the mental and spiritual outlook of the people.

Socialism is the necessary transition stage from capitalism to communism.

There are two kinds of property to a Socialist:
1) Property used for private enjoyment, i.e. Automobile.
2) Property used to produce the Automobile.

Socialists will allow you personal property i.e. Automobile, but will take away and own the property used to manufacture the Automobile.

There is one kind of property to a Communist:
That which is owned by the state, including the citizens of that state.

The communist principle of distribution according to needs is not immediately possible and practical until the Socialist framework is in place.

The conjecture that Socialism is NOT Marxist thinking is both foolish and plain silly.

To PopYoColla?
You wanted an answer to "why would someone that makes less than 250k and would actually benefit from Obama's tax plan still vote for McCain Palin?"

Answer:
I was born in America. I was taught in school back when we were actually taught Civics and Government with emphasis on what our founding fathers envisioned as the Greatest Country on Earth. The Framers actually saw the freedom of people rather then the overbearing authority by a supreme government (See King George).
They crafted a document called the Constitution of the United States, where it laid out, Not OUR rights, but the limits of the Federal Governments rights. Key Phrase "Limited Government"
I don't want Government to have the right to take from ANYONE and give to ANYONE. I will pledge to return what measly 500 or 1000 dollars I would ever get from the government in the way of a rebate with a letter asking that they return it to whom they have stolen it from.
Hint: I did that with the last one too. What did you do with it?

Fundamental Flaws?
The fundamentals of our Constitution are that our government exists to protect our God-given rights, and that its power must be limited in order to protect those rights.

Obama thinks this is a "fundamental flaw" and the limits on government should be amended to allow government to seize our property to redistribute it. He doesn't say what means of force he would use to accomplish that, but since he is so opposed to our gun rights, I assume he will use force to make us give up our right to property to achieve his socialist goals.

I think Obama himself is fundamentally flawed.

Economic reform splained for william
Repealing all the hidden indirect taxes would stop government from imposing them on every business, big and small, and remove them from the price of every item sold by every business to every customer business, and on and on and on. Government is one (or many) of these customer businesses. The business-accounting cost of calculating these taxes would be gone for every business, further reducing the price.
All the taxing bureaucracies, and the total governmental cost thereof would be removed. All the taxing bureaucrats could get real jobs and start paying INTO THE TREASURY, INSTEAD OF TAKING MONEY OUT OF THE TREASURY.
Government would have the income tax money from the employees with the new jobs, and from the jobs that are not taxed out of the country.
The single simplified tax form for the single replacement tax could be easily filled out by almost all people, so there would not be the personal cost of having it done for them. There would not be a marriage penalty for married people. The lowest tax rate (0% for the first $15,000 for everybody) would make up for eliminating the complicated sections of the present tax form, simplifying it for everybody.
The price of everything (even aircraft carriers) would be one-third (1/3) lower.
There wouldn't be: a 45 Trillion dollar carbon credit tax, Rangel's one trillion dollar tax, Obama's 845-billion-dollars-to-the-UN-to-give-to-our-enemies tax, Obama's 76 billion dollar
gasoline tax, or any of the hundreds of destructive taxes we have now.
Do you now understand how eliminating taxes will reduce the price of everything?

debishop, minimum wage: How about we bring all liberal-government-politician-compensation down to the present minimum wage? Even that is more than thay are worth.

Obama will tax you until you are poor

Barack Obama and Joe Biden has lied so many times it is easier to keep up with when they tell the truth.

Know these two prevaricators are promising to ONLY tax those making more than $250,000 a year.

Barack Obama's 'glassy eyed cultic followers' actually believe this lie as well?

Each and every American will be taxed until we are all poor - "Sacrificing for the Common Good".

dbz77 CA, Oct 30, 2008 - 11:02 AM EST

Great question! I'll wager you don't get an honest reply.

Tax Cuts
Obama: "Not at all. Look, if John McCains best argument is that he wants to continue the same Bush tax cuts for the very wealthiest Americans it will prevent the economy from recovering."
Obama is a freaking idiot and a liar. Bush's tax cuts (BOTH 2001-2003) reduced the middle class AND the poor tax rates from the clinton tax increases. The poor middle class also got stimulus checks(tax rebates). They also increased the several types of credits for the middle class and poor with these bills. These tax cuts created the lowest tax cuts in a VERY long time. The upper class did not get their cut until 2003, only after the middle class and the poor got an ADDITIONAL tax cut. Along with these bills, folks could increase their annual contribution to their IRA type retirement plans, which means MORE TAX SAVINGS with YOUR MONEY. Bush and congress did this, and it is failed? This is a crap of BS. I am so tired of hearing this horse hockey that it is bs. Obama is going to let the LOWEST tax cut in 20-50 years expire. That is the truth. Forget what this charlatan has to say, read the facts.

Repub wealth redistribution
It was the Republicans who spend more than the Democrats. They increased pork barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 projects a year, NOT PAID FOR.

They have engaged in a five and half year social engineering project in the Middle East that costs $120 billion a year and may well last another 100 years, NOT PAID FOR.

They have added another layer of entitlement spending that costs $50 billion a year called Medicare Prescription, NOT PAID FOR.

Mandated $4 billion a year in ethanol subsidies, as well as drastically increased cotton, sugar, soybean, corn, wheat handouts, NOT PAID FOR.

Doubled the size of the Department of Education, NOT PAID FOR.

How would you pay for all this spending? It took 210 years for the first $5 trillion and debt and only 7 years of Republican control to double it. It nigh time for some fiscal Conservatism.

Don
Sorry, Don. I have done extensive investigating into Obama. I like to know who I'm voting for. His history speaks a thousand words. The excuse that his ties to radical people does not have a bearing on him is FALSE. If it were just one person, I could understand it, but it is pervasive. His old youtube videos show a much different Obama. To ignore his former beliefs is to be naive or stupid. And, I am not a gun owner or a rich person, but I believe in protecting the right to own them and to strive to reach the American dream, something Obama does not believe in.

Racist Obama carefully chose his Mentor
From Mr. Obama’s first autobiography, “Dreams From My Father” pp 131-6

"...When I asked for other pastors to talk to, several gave me the name of Reverend Wright..."

Barack Obama had his first meeting with Jeremiah Wright.

"...Afterward, in the parking lot, I sat in my car and thumbed through a silver brochure that I’d picked up in the reception area. It contained a set of guiding principles-a “Black Value System”-that the congregation had adopted in 1979..."

Wright remains a maverick among Chicago’s vast assortment of black preachers. He will question Scripture when he feels it forsakes common sense; he is an ardent foe of mandatory school prayer; and he is a staunch advocate for homosexual rights, which is almost unheard of among African-American ministers. Gay and lesbian couples, with hands clasped, can be spotted in Trinity’s pews each Sunday. Even if some blacks consider Wright’s church serving only the bourgeois set, his ministry attracts a broad cross section of Chicago’s black community.

Obama's Pastor: Rev. Jeremiah Wright

WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the ‘60s, (INAUDIBLE) black liberation theology, that started with Jim Cone in 1968, and the writings of Cone, and the writings of Dwight Hopkins, and the writings of womanist theologians, and Asian theologians, and Hispanic theologians...

John Shaft
"Obama is a freaking idiot and a liar."

Well, then so is John McCain. When those tax cuts were passed back in the day, McCain said, "it's a tax cut for the rich."

You should be ashamed of yourself.

zapdoodat
The programs got expanded by Democrats for the most part. That they were not funded was the Republican method of trying to keep some control. Kiss Barney Frank if you have a b**tch.

So, zapdoodat...
Are you saying that all of these things are bad? Are they all unnecessary? Should they all be discontinued. I will agree with that, with the exception of the war. Do you believe Obama will agree with you? Do you believe he will discontinue or even decrease pork barrel spending? Do you believe he will discontinue or decrease farm subsidies or education spending or entitlement spending? If you do, you're a fool. It is nigh time for some fiscal conservatism. So, how do you suggest we go forward from here? Elect Democrats? To accomplish fiscal conservatism? Are you crazy? We should elect conservatives, if we wish for conservatism. Now there's a crazy idea, huh?

Zapdoodat ConfusesRedist of Wealth & ROI
Zapdoodat offers, "Repub wealth redistribution
It was the Republicans who spend more than the Democrats. They increased pork barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 projects a year, NOT PAID FOR."

Absolute nonsense.

Americans are used to being taxed in exchange for goods and services: National defense, infrastructure ... etc. That is not Redistribution of Wealth. There has always been a mutual return on investment.

Obama, onthe other hand, wants to take money from one person for no other reason that to give it to another. This is pure Marxist Redistribution of Wealth.

If you think taking wealth from a high producer only to give it to a low producer is such a great idea, try raising your kids that way and see how that works out.

We need to keep lawyers out of the White House.

Remember Cabrini Green?
Factualist,

Billy Jeff wanted his apelike A.G. Reno to go into the buildings and search for guns but was told the CONUS forbad it under the Fourth Amendment. His answer? Find a way around it! "It" being the CONUS. Libs like to claim Reagan shredded the CONUS (or any OTHER Republican) but the party with REAL Constitutional problems is the Democrat Party.

The Constitution deliberately placed a lot of restraints on government and THEY DON'T LIKE IT!!

Your Money Confiscated By Government
Let's just get real and tell the truth - Obama spent $300,000,000 to buy off the presidency through paying for media spots which could have been used to help the poor as well as the $8,000,000 of taxpayer money that he received for poor blacks housing conditions and instead gave the money to his convicted felon friend and the poor Blacks never got a dime and froze in the cold - and now he wants to take my money and your money and my retirement money and yours and tax me and you on capital gains and redistribute the wealth to government while his liberal friends RULE the White House and redistribute the wealth to themselves for welfare programs that Clinton attempted to eliminate - Good grief, America - do you really want to give your money to government so Obama and the liberals can tell you that $250,000 or $150,000 or $40,000 is too much money so you need to pay more to the King? Obama just needs a coronation - not a inauguration!

Socialist with a capital SOCIALIST
When people ask why I am voting for McCain/Palin I simply say:

I agree with what they stand for in this election AND I would not open my door to
Jeremiah Wright
Tony Rezko
William Ayers
Frank Raines
Lewis Farakan

Guilt by association? I think not, I just know that you are known by the company you keep. Barack's judgement in friends leaves a lot to be desired. By the way, I don't watch Oprah either.

Nor do I want to live in a country lead by a SOCIALIST. How much plainer can I make my case. If I wanted to live in a socialist country, I would move to one that is not run by a wannabe leader like Barack Obama. What has he ever lead anyway, other than the way to the welfare office? Even this campaign is being funded and masterminded by billionaire George Soros. Barack (Barry)(Hussein)Obama started out as an elitist, empty suit in this campaign and remains a media induced phenom that will be shattered, if elected, by the political process, witness Jimmy Carter and Tip O'Neil.

You see history does repeat itself. Let's just hope we can dodge this socialist bullet on November 4.

Obama is giving "Liberals" a bad name
There is nothing particularly wrong with being a liberal, either democrat or republican, because a liberal will make minor changes to assist oters without destroying everything. Obama should therefore openly declare he is a Marxist/Socialist whose mission is to make this a third world country. What scares me is he just might succeed. He pitched "hope and change" in Kenya in 2006 when he campaigned for Odinga. The result was riot, genocide and ethnic cleansing....welcome to Obamaland

Mac Moore
"take money from one and give it to another"

We TAKE money from east and west coasters and give it to people in the middle.

Conservatives did have the 'audacity' to increase farm subsidies from 2001-2007 to the princely sum of $34 billion a year.

We have ethanol mandates, sugar, cotton, soybean, wheat and many more agricultural handouts for the Midwest. These teat-suckers need to get their mouths off the nipples of the government sow. This is a Republican wealth-redistribution program from America's east and west coasts to America's heartland, with America's heartlands values.

Why would one believe that sugar should be subsidized, unless, of course, you are a dentist?

Why should cotton be subsidized, since most of it is exported, the number one importer of cotton is China? Who believes that Chinese manufacturing should be subsidized by the American taxpayer?

It takes a gallon of oil to make a gallon of ethanol. No more mandates! If an American farmer can't compete in the global marketplace, then they can always get a job at Walmart, as a 'greeter.'

zapdoodat MA, Oct 30, 2008 - 12:20 PM ES

So, where is McCain's lie? I think McCain told the truth.

And why are you introducing shame into the conversation?

Maybe you're saying that tax cuts for the rich are bad, and that's how and why you disagree with McCain's statement.

Personally, I prefer tax cuts for the rich for a couple of reasons:

1. The rich run the businesses that hire people. They'll stop hiring is they don't have enough money.

2. If we, the second highest taxed country in the world, don't keep America desirable for investment by the rich, they will go elsewhere.

3. Tax cuts for the un-rich are short termed and do not have long term positive effects on our economy.

4. The whole world operates very well as a free market economy except when government gets involved for its own purposes. Taxes, ceiling and flooring programs, etc. usually ruin the free market.

The government is best which governs least.

So, there you go. Where's the McCain lie?

Why Is Proof of Citizenship A Key Issue?
Lawyers always look presidential. They are always calm. They are trained to remain calm and they tell their clients to remain calm, but it's not natural. It's natural when someone is showing emotion and has a passion for the truth and walks about the stage knowing the truth about the dangerous agenda of their opponent. The birth certificate is the key for the Justice Department to file an injunction based on the allegations of wrongdoing of fraud and forgery filed by Philip J. Berg, Esq., Pa, because it violates the Rule of Law and the Supreme Law of the Land and requires a valid proof of citizens if running for Presidency because anti-American terrorists or those they've trained who are enemies and illegal aliens could then be voted into office without the Justice Department securing a background check and protecting the American people from the high jacking of America! If a lawyer running for U.S. President is required to follow the law, Article II, U.S. Constitution then why should the rest of the citizens have to follow the law and I present this question to the U.S. Attorney General and the Justice Department - Is that why illegals don't have to register and Obama wants to pass out illegal drivers licenses to them? Why not let all the prisoners out of jail if the U.S. President if elected doesn't have to follow the Supreme Laws of the Land nor the activist liberal judges who stifle these important cases based on constitutional law. Why are the Trial lawyers and Constitutional lawyers silent?

"those programs got expanded by the Democrats."

How? George Bush was President, Denny Hastert(R) was Speaker of the House and Trent Lott(R) was Senate Majority Leader.

Redistribution Of Wealth Is Never Good
Zapdoodat offers, "No more mandates! If an American farmer can't compete in the global marketplace, then they can always get a job at Walmart, as a 'greeter.'"

No argument, here. But, as Larry Elder says, at least those programs pretended to be ROI driven. End Welfare, now!

So, how does that make Obama, who wants to increase such nonsense, plus add his Marxist inspired Redistribution of Wealth to it, such a good choice over McCain, who promises less Government, no tax increase and less spending?

I figure that both will deliver as promised. I like McCain's promise.

Highlander Juan
McCain said six years ago that the Bush tax cuts were only for the rich. That is a lie, because middle income people got some tax cuts also.

Can you name one way in with George Bush and the Republican controlled Congress reduced the size of government when they were in control from 2001-2006?

Don
You are naive, buddy. He does not support the Constitution - he called it "fundamentally flawed." And, don't give me the bull about it's only regarding slavery - it's about redistribution of wealth, and probably a host of other things he hasn't told us. Read it and weep.

Ignorance is bliss.
You folks that say Obama's raising of taxes isn't going to effect lower income peoples are severely ignorant.

You remember Ronald Reagan's trickle down theory that you dismissed in the eighty's? Well, this will be a most definite trickle down.

1. Employer's will lay people off. This will absolutely happen; I know I will be doing just that. But, as the latest blog has advised, I went through the employee parking lot and found who has Obama stickers. They go first!!!

2. Prices will go up. Government can only do so much on this and that's good. You will pay more at the market, department stores, etc. I know I'll raise prices. I have to pay my McCain supporting employees.

3. Large companies will move even more of their operations offshore. My company isn't large enough.

4. Inflation will drastically rise.

Effectively, all hell will break loose. It will be the Carter days exponentially worse.

God help our country if this Marxist gets elected.

"best government governs least" - How about being the policeman of the world?

Has no one told you, Chairman Mao, Joseph Stalin and the Berlin Wall are long gone?

The battle front of the future with China will not be military but economic. China is well on its way in defeating us by out-manufacturing, out-competing us in technology, out-financing us and buying our debt and companies.

Let's take a look at the USA defending Europe. Below, are a few facts and a question.

-------POPULATION-------GDP------
---EU----500 million---$14 trillion
Russia--150 million----$2 trillion

Why is the USA spending ten's of billions of dollars every year for the defense of Europe? And defend against who?

Don
Drama queens, like yourself, surely said the same thing when Bubba got elected. But the stock market merely tripled during his reign.

The stock market has lost 20% under George Bush's 'reign of error.'

Your overt emotionalism rings hollow.

Democrats Expoited War Funding As Tool
Zapdoodat offers as to how spending increased under Bush, "George Bush was President, Denny Hastert(R) was Speaker of the House and Trent Lott(R) was Senate Majority Leader."

To a Democrat, there is no better opportunity for exploiting for political gain than a nation toiling over the cost of a war. Instead of jumping in and helping, they made demands in exchange for their votes for the war. Nice.

So, the Democrats protected Fanny and Freddy from regulation and expanded all kinds of social welfare as a barter for war funding. Bush had a choice, protect our soil or our wallets. He chose correctly.

Now, we have a catastrophic financial melt down, caused by the protected practices of Fanny and Freddy to extend loans to those that shouldn't be getting them. And, we are very close to electing the arsonists (Frank, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid and Obama) to investigate the crime scene. Oh, my!

Concentrate the wealth.
Why shouldn't Sally the working mom waitress have to pay more payroll taxes so Cindy the heiress can get a break on her stock dividends' Capital gains. Times are hard for rich people why their will always be a need for waitresses.

Why shouldn't we stop redistrubing Chinese capaital into the hands off our corporate advance weapons stockholders so we can get Bin Ladin from our next generation nuclear submarines. A few none combatant marine mammals will surely give their lives so we can have more freedom.

Mac Moore
You need a more expansive source for your news.

The mistakes for which we are paying for now, were made by four entities that conservative economic theory dictates should have made better judgments.

Namely, they are the appraisers, the originators of the mortgages, the rating agencies, and the investment banking firms that packaged the sub-prime mortgage-backed securities.

Instead of "disciplining" the markets, these private actors served as the four horsemen of the financial apocalypse, aiding the accounting fraud and inflating the housing bubble.

These four entities turned a crisis into a catastrophe.

Zapdoodat Has Trouble Connecting Dots
Zapdoodat offers, "Bubba got elected. But the stock market merely tripled during his reign."

Not by choice.

Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 and proceeded to try to bankrupt the USA with his silly healthcare nonsense. Newt Gingrich published a book called Contract With America, which was riducled by the Left as Contract On America. But, America loved what Newt was offering. The next election, 1994, America put Newt in charge of Congress with a matching Senate.

Clinton, being the excellent politician that he is, towed the line so well that it looked like he was leading it! All those evil things in Newt's book, like balancing budget, welfare reform were all implemented under Newt's watch. Of course, Bill Clinton takes the credit. He is good at that.

With no wars and a well run Congress, things in deed get better.

Obama's Redistribution Plan Is Cancer
Barack Obama's stated mission is to redistribute the wealth: Rob Peter (5% of America) to pay Paul (95% of America) -- an old political trick practiced by Democrats that depends on Populist greed and ignorance.

Wealth, contrary to populist beleif, is not finite. It is infinite. It is ever expanding, daily, nearly exponentially.

Instead of urging Americans to go get/create their own wealth, Obama recommends just taking it from others. How uniting! Remember trickle-down-economics? It is not a science, but an observation, like Karma, or what-goes-around-comes-around.

Trust me, those at the top are not going to take a pay cut. Like all good Democrats, the Obama team is hoping that the citizenry aren't smart enough to figure out that as you tax the producers of goods, services and jobs, they will simply pass it back to the citizenry with higher prices and lost jobs.

Taking wealth from others, only makes you poorer, on every level.

It is amazing what the power of greed does to a voter -- ignore consequences, ignore logic, ignore country, ignore your soul, go for immediate self gratification. Think "ME"! Vote Obama! He is betting on your greed / ignorance.

Obama is a lot like the Lotto: neither deliver like the promise; And, just like the Lotto, betting on Obama is a tax on ignorance.

Woooooooooow!!!!
Thanx for the replys. Some were sincire. Some were from Kool-Aid drinking zombies. Let me tell you why I don't believe in McCain or what you say......*clears throat*

Fact: During the 90's, the USA had the biggest, greatest expansion of the economy.

Fact: During the 00's, the price of everything has gone up, while the size of the raises at your jobs have not.

Fact: John McCain co-wrote a law with Ted Kennedy (reaching across the aisle) only to say he wouldn't vote fore HIS OWN LEGISLATION in order to appeal to the base.

Fact: Obama faced the wrath of his base with his FISA vote.

Fact: McCain once opposed the Bush tax cuts (when he was true to himself running in 2000) and openly supported the progressive tax system. Not only does he now support them (which have led to record debt) but wants to add more to it. Was I the only one to see Exxon Mobil break it's own record for profits in a quarter AGAIN? Every three months they announce record breaking profits.

Fact: McCain want's to replace my Kaiser Permenente coverage for me and my son thru my employer with a 5000 tax credit. This is not nearly enough to cover me (who rarely sees a doctor) and my son (who is 2 yrs old and often sees the doctor). Not only that, he wants to add that 5 g's to how much you make a year according to the IRS. If you made 35,000, you'd be taxed as if you made 40,000. Whether you go to the doctor and use it or not.

Fact: HE PICKED SARAH!!!!!!!

zapdoodat wrote:
"China is well on its way in defeating us by out-manufacturing, out-competing us in technology, out-financing us and buying our debt and companies."

In a way you are right but you are also wrong. Most of China's technology and manufacturing is coming from the U.S. Companies here are rushing to build the latest and greatest plants with the latest technology. As a result they can produce better and faster than we can here since our plants are older and generally run with older technology. To make things worse here, the Wall Street "geniuses" insist that such plants be built overseas due to cheaper labor and, hence, more profits. So China is NOT defeating us by doing better than we are; they are defeating us by letting our companies give them that advantage.

Of course, that is why Japan has done so well since WWII. We did the same thing there. Now they are starting to run into problems because their plants are now old technology. So they are trying to convince our government to give them the technology and money to build up so they can compete again.

zapdoodat MA, Oct 30, 2008 - 12:51 PM ES

No, I can't name one, because there has been no reduction in the size of government. This is one of my personal problems with the Bush administration. I seem to be much more conservative, and maybe even libertarian, than Bush.

Having said that, I find it still hard to second guess Bush because we are at war, and being at war generally throws all attempts at normalcy out the window.

Regarding your second post addressed to me, the answer to your questions are a bit more involved.

IMHO, we are living in dangerous times because of the world's explosive population, the need for increased energy demands by everybody, the need for increased food supplies, and the fact there are few secrets anymore.

If I were to suggest financial investments for colleagues for the next ten to twenty years, I would encourage energy, food, and military suppliers.

My reason is simple. If we think world events are dicey now, we 'ain't seen nothin yet.' The larger nations are already scrambling for oil, a dwindling resource. Food is desperately needed in many parts of the world.

Thank God we are ahead in military technology.

We are going to have to use our military strength just to defend our way of life because everybody else is going to want a piece of our pie, and there just isn't enough to go around. Remember the idea of building a bomb shelter during the cold war - this is the same, just larger in scale.

I'm sorry, I have to leave now. I think the answers to so many of our questions are found in long term thinking.

I accept McCain-Palin now because they are our best options at this time. Obama is just a socialist, and socialists don't do well historically.

Have a good one.

Zapdoodat Repeats Liberal Ideals
Zapdoodat offers as to the financial meltdown, "Namely, they are the appraisers, the originators of the mortgages, the rating agencies, and the investment banking firms that packaged the sub-prime mortgage-backed securities."

Nonsense.

Non of these people can act in consort. There is only one controlling agency that can cause an entire industry to conform to any methodology: Government.

If any of these people did anything wrong, they are subject to fraud. That is a completely different situation. But, to offer that all of them acted in opposition to good business practices, as one, is just plain silly nonsense.

The Government, via Freddy and Fanny, told the real estate world that they would buy loans that anyone deemed too risky. So, naturally, the actors, down-stream from this Government promise, delivered as expected.

Liberals love blaming the private sector and citizens for ills of the Government. It gives them reason to increase their power. Barf.

There are so many people who think as you described and the majority are young. Makes you wonder if their elevators don't go all the way to the top.

WoW Pt2
Biggest Myth and most important fact:

Two points. First of all, the notion of giving tax cuts to the 40% who don't work or dont pay taxes (which ever GOP talking point you like). I make 18.00 an hour at my job. So I pay taxes. I worked at Wendy's my first job. I paid taxes. The point is, I challenge ANYONE to show me a place to work in America where you get a check stub that shows NO TAXES WERE TAKE OUT. Show me and I'll vote for McCain. BTW, Obama says tax cuts for 95% of "working" families. As in, those who don't work, get nothing.

Point 2: Im tired of hearing to BS about taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor. It's bullcrap. I make 18/hr and I still struggle. Im not seeking a government handout. I've been working since I was 15 and im 28 now. I've been paying taxes since i was 15. I don't look at it as "taking money from the rich to give to me."

I look at it as giving me back part of the money i've paid into the system for 13 years and will pay into until I die.

If you want to call it socialism, call it that. Call it communisim. Call it Marxism. Call it Buddism if you want. The bottom line is what ever label you put the last 8 years, THEY'VE SUCKED!!! That's why Obama's winning and will win. When you can make a racist say, "you know what, I don't like blacks but he's better than Bush and McCain, you've sucked as a president.

Bush has become a cancer to the GOP. It's evident in this race and is filtering down to Senate races. Hope the GOP enjoys being backbenchers to the Dems for 20 yrs at least.

PopYoColla
I think I can refute many of your "facts".

Fact: The reason for the expansion in the '90s was due to the previous 12 years of getting the government out of business.

Fact: The prices went up and the wages didn't during the '90s as well as the '00s.

Fact: McCain didn't support his own bill. Neither did a lot of others after a lot of amendments to it.

Fact: Obama didn't risk anything with his base by voting for the FISA. Very few of his base has enough intelligence to know what that is - or cares. Their man must be right!

Fact: McCain changed his mind on the tax cuts because he realized he had been wrong. That says something to me about his politics. And I certainly observed the Exxon profits. Blame those on the government setting up a law that gives all oil companies a 10% profit for each stage of development of an oil product. The higher it goes the more money they make.

Fact: Your other choice for medical is "free" medical by the government. Those costs certainly are NOT free - they will be paid by taxpayers. And it will be harder to get into see the doctor when needed and you get less aid. Check the English system before and after.

Fact: He selected Sarah: The one senior politician who has actually tried to cut waste and spending instead of growing it.

Zapdoodat Blames Citizens Over Goverment
Zapdoodat offers, "Through it all, our fellow Conservative and Republicans are always the victims of nefarious liberal and Demoncrats."

How on earth do you come to that conclusion?

Citizens are victims. Republican and Democratic office holders are doing just fine. No victims there.

Sometimes the Republicans get their way, sometimes the Democrats get their way. When it came to the melt down of our financial institutions, it was Democrats getting their way that did it: push insane "affordable housing" by having Fanny and Freddy back any risky loans for homes.

The citizenry, from corporations to citizen, are the victims. They are the ones losing jobs and treasure. Trying to blame it on them is absurdly arrogant. And, very Democratic, I might add.

You are one of the people i am talking about. Probabaly make under 250k but would vote AGAINST giving yourself a raise. If you were at your job and your boss said let vote to see if the company gives out raises this year, would you vote no because you dont want someone else's money? I didn't think so. Now, let me debunk your theory real quick.....*clears throat*

REAL FACT: The expansion of the 90's was due to the expansion of the middle class. Contrary to popular belief, companies only "create jobs" when there's a need. Payroll is one of the biggest expenses for businesses. When people have more money in their pocket, they spend more. They spend more means the business sells more. The business selling more means they need more people to sell the product. They need more people to manufacture the product. More jobs. More people with money. The cycle starts all over again. Prime example of how the trickle down theory doesn't work; the banks getting the bailout and instead of lending again, using that money to pay dividends to shareholders.

REAL FACT: 1998 price of gas was 1.20 in california. The price of a new home was 125,000 in my city. 2008 price of gas was as high as 4.25. The price of the same 125,000 home is now 425,000. No comparison between the economies of the 90's and 00's. Period.

REAL FACT: McCain never said it was about amendments. He flipfloppd his views on immigration to a much harder stance to please the GOP. Period.

REAL FACT: Obama's base is just as versed in politics as McCain supporters. Ill let you take it from there.

REAL FACT: McCain changed his mind on the tax cuts not because he nobly saw the light of his ways. He changed it like he changed his positions on torture, immigration, progressive taxation, on and on because he was running for president and needed his base. Period.

45caliber
REAL FACT: Obama says we, as citizens, can KEEP OUR EMPLOYER BASED HEALTHCARE!!!!!!! His national plan is for those without employer based healthcare. McCain wants to do away with it. Period.

REAL FACT: Sarah Palin couldn't even tell Katie Couric what newspapers she reads that help shape her world view. Would you trust her to sit across the table with Putin talking non-nuclear proliferation? Please.

Don't become a sheep whose so emotionally invested that you can't rationally think for yourself. YOU ARE BEING USED BY THE GOP!!! They will say and do anything to keep power. Anything except help people in need if it means less favors for Exxon, GE, Ford and all the others. Don't be used. Republicans got control of the WH and Congress and forgot they work for you, they're constituent. That's why they're losing. Period.

Larry Elder says: "Wurzelbacher told me that he plans to campaign -- at his own request -- for John McCain. Why? He calls Obamas spread the wealth plan scary."

Tax&Redistribution ofWealth Are Not Same
Michael offers, "The top marginal tax rate under Eisenhower was 91%! Was he a Marxist/Socialist? Look it up."

Taxing does not make one a Socialist.

However, Redistribution of Wealth, whereby money is taken from one person for no other reason than to give to another, as balance, is a Socialist program, well defined by Karl Marx. And, now, his pupil Barack Obama.

America has always experimented with progressive taxing, whereby wealthier people paid at higher rates. Even so, the historical intent is that the taxes were in exchange for a good or service given to all, such as common defense, infrastructures, courts, ... etc.

As Larry Elder offers, even Welfare was presented to the electorate as some kind of return on investment.

PopYoColla
I love your "Periods". As Indigo said, "I don't think it means what you think it means."

Fact: All economy at ANY time is not based on moment by moment but on previous preparation, etc. You can't build expansions in a day - I know; that's my job. And all economy is determined by what the government does - usually badly.

Fact: The price of oil products has certainly gone up. Blame greed and the war. And prices of housing certainly went up. Blame Fannie May and Freddie Mac, the reasons everything is going back down again.

Fact: McCain hasn't yet flip-flopped on immigration. He still wants to let them in - unfortunately.

Fact: If Obama's base actually has any political sense, they certainly aren't showing it. And you can easily tell it by the names they call instead of by trying to argue (you seem to be an exception to that.)

Fact: Some of the changes McCain made were due to his need for a base. But some were due to him seeing a differnece he didn't expect. That is called learning from experience - not blindly following an abstract theory that has never worked anywhere else.

Yes--
Yes, Larry is correct. We have already voted here. Yes, for the Sarah Barracuda team.

PopYoColla:

Fact: Yeah, right. We can keep our health care - as long as we pay for everyone else too. But why pay for health care if it is free? And if it is free and you take advantage of it, then you have to pay for the costs.

Fact: Who cares where she gets her foreign information? She was brought in to try to help get the government under control. Besides what does a Vice President have to do with foreign affairs? Absolutely nothing. And - if you really want to get into it - Obama has the same credentials as far as foreign affairs are concerned ... and as President he DOES have to deal with them.

Additional Fact: If I voted to get a pay raise at work I'm NOT taking it away from someone else. The pay raise comes from increased production, not stolen from someone as taxes do. So I won't vote for increased taxes. There isn't anything fair about it.

Facts have a lot more involved than a simple statement. I'll at least depend upon McCain and Palin to not put in a bunch of socialist laws and take my money.

Michael
I got one for you. The Gipper himself was a socialist. That's right. The man who the GOP wont let rest in peace was the creator of the Earned Income Credit. Giving away hard earned money from the more well off to give tax credits to the less well off. Was Reagan a socialist? In Alaska, Palin's administration gives checks to every non-felon citizen of Alaska. She says her citizens "share in the wealth of the natural resources." Share the wealth seems to be a catchy phrase. That money came from an "oil windfall profit tax" she leveed against the oil companies. Taking from the rich to spread around. Is that socialism too?

McCain reminds me of Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner (Obama). Everytime he thinks he has Obama cornered, he runs out to see Obama long gone. He looks up and sees that ACME Anvil that he set up for Obama instead falling on his own head. Think about it.

Pop
By the way, I'm NOT GOP. What I am is a conservative. Actually, I've been a registered Democrat all my life but I haven't voted for the Democrat Party (or any high official) in years. I didn't leave the Democrat Party - they went off into left field and left me in the middle.

1. So according to your theory, then Clinton is responsible for the crappy 8 years we've had. Why is Obama up in the polls? Why isn't this pointed out more? Because the theory doesn't hold water. You can't expand the economy in 1 day. Ill agree with that. But you can expand it or in Bush's case, flush it down the toilet in 8 years. Clinton's 8 years = 20 million new jobs created. Not in 1 day.

2. I do blame greed. The greed of a former oilman in a position to help his friends still in the industry who bankrolled his rise to the top. I do blame war. A war that after 5 years still hasn't caught Bin Laden. Still hasn't seen a stable Iraq or Afganistan. I blame a president who's friends profit from war in the form of defense contracts, oil (again), and Wall street speculators (who use war as an excuse to "speculate" up the price of just about everything).

3. If the depth of someones political prowess is shown by their actions at a political rally, I challenge you to watch a McCain rally vs. an Obama rally. Yesterday, Obama aired a 30 minute infomercial where he didnt' mention McCain's name ONE TIME!! Could McCain pull off what Obama did last nite? Please don't talk about name calling when you support a party that throws around labels like socialist, communist, anti-american like it's the 1960's.

Conservatives, Republicans, ...
disgruntled Democrats, Hillary supporters, and anyone else who doesn't want Obama to win...

VOTE!!!

Obama hasn't won this election. It hasn't even occurred yet. Don't let the propaganda depress our voice. Do not sit at home on election day. It may be the most important vote you ever cast. Don't let them tell you there's no chance. Don't let them get the better of you. If you do nothing else in support of John McCain this election cycle, go vote on November 4th. Do not hand this thing over willingly. Put up some fight, at least.

PopYoColla
Reagan didn't create the EIC. It was established in 1975. He did expand it in 1986. This doesn't necessarily make him a socialist.

Reagan railed vehemently against socialism and the tyranny it represented. But he knew where and when to pick his battles. You have to remember that Reagan wasn't necessarily adored by certain members of his own party, who believed, as they do today, that the best way to undermine and defeat Democrats is to be like they are, to some extent.

And since you seem to cherry pick context in order to make your argument, I think I'll take your remarks about Palin with a grain of salt.

But let me ask you. Why are you supporting Obama? He's inexperienced; he's a racist and a socialist. Why are you voting for him? For change?

I guarantee you that the change Obama represents is what mankind has been experiencing for thousands of years wherever there has been a boot of a tyrant on his face.

4. It's called "learning from experience" when it's a republican. The GOP tarred and feathered John Kerry for being a flipflopper. Please save the drama. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Or in the words of my grandpa, "it aint no fun when the rabbit has the gun."
5. Why pay for healthcare if it's free? Pay for others healthcare. Yawn. First of all, you're gonna pay taxes til you die. You probably have no idea exactly how your tax money is spent. So how can you say you're gonna pay for others healthcare when you already do? Who do you think pays for those who go to the emergency room with no coverage. Your tax money and mine. So the question is, would you rather pay for them or let Exxon Mobil help pay more of it with their record profits? Think about it.

6. I care where her foreign policy creds come from. She could potentially be my VP. That is of NO CONCERN TO YOU? You truely are lost. The VP has no constitutional role as far as foreign policy. But many a VP in the past have took on tasks assigned them by the POTUS just like in campaigning in separate places. To be able to touch more issues in the set amount of time. (visa vi 4 or 8 year term). Cheney did it. Gore did it. Would you trust Palin to do it? I wouldn't.

45caliber
6. If you take the raise, you are taking someone else's money. The profit from the increased production belongs to the owner of the company, not you. So in fact you are taking their money. And what about my original point which you glossed over? What if I think about it in the way that a tax cut from Obama wouldn't be "taking or stolen from the rich." Rather, what if I thought about it as a return of money i've paid into the tax system since my first job? Would that be wrong? Is it possible that a lot of these arguements, on both sides but primarily on your side, can simply be a matter of interpretation by the viewer? As in you say Tom-A-to, I say To-ma-to?

Pop:
1. Yes, I do blame Clinton. As I have known him and known of him since sophomore in college, I suspect I know a great deal more of him than you can imagine. And I blame those of his people as well. I'm not sure even Clinton could screw up things that badly by himself.

2. I blame greed - the greed of foreign leaders who claim all the oil money for themselves. The greed of oil company officials who do what they can to keep the prices up. Etc. But I can't blame Iraq. If we had actually invade Iraq for oil, how come it isn't coming here for free?

3. The depth of someone's political prowness is certainly NOT shown at political rallies. It is shown by what they do - how they vote. And Obama's voting record is absolutely terrible as far as I'm concerned. I'm not too crazy about McCain's either but he does somewhat better.

4. It is called learning from experience if anyone does it - for that reason. Kerry didn't lose for flip-flopping; he lost because of lies.

Thanx for the correction. But you get the point. Does it make Reagan a socialist for expanding the EIC and even worse a hypocrite for railing against socialism when he supported at least 1 socialistic style gov program?

Now why I support Obama. First of all, im not a kool aid drinking Obama supporter. Im well versed in politics for someone who's never ran for office. Not only that but im a 28 yr old black man. You know, they kind like you see on COPS. You know, like the kind you'd see on the street and think I was one of the "40% who dont pay taxes or are looking for a Government handout." Yea, that's me. The kind of guy who can wear a suit with the best of them AND sag his pants below his waist when he's hanging with his friends. The kinda guy you wouldn't think was a supervisor overseeing people who probably think just like you. Now, Im supporting Obama because......

He came from humble beginnings like me and unlike many a president before him. I have to believe he'd look out for the average man and not the people who helped him get to office. Because he didn't have connections to get him there. He earned it all. From his Harvard degree, to his state senate seat, to his US Senate seat, and hopefully to his seat in the Oval Office.

He supports a woman's right to choose. He supports a woman's right to equal pay for equal work. He supports a gay and lesbian rights. He supports unions.

He truely believes in reaching across the aisle and not just talking about it on the campaign trail.

5. Yes, we do pay for the medical care of those who can't afford it. And I really don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is paying for someone who could pay if they wished or for someone who shouldn't be on our system in the first place. What Obama wants to do is make it free for those too. It isnt' the paying taxes I have a problem with; it is paying taxes to make sure someone else doesn't have to or to support someone who is too lazy to work.

6. You have Obama and Biden; I'll take McCain and Palin over them. We can leave it at that. Actually, if you check , she does have foreign eperience - that even Biden and McCain don't have.

7. Nope, if you take a raise it is because the owner is willing to pay you for your ability and time to keep you from going somewhere else and to reward you for doing a good job. You aren't 'taking' it away from him. Takes, on the other hand, do take away since you aren't really interested in paying them EXCEPT for services you need. I don't have a problem giving money to people I KNOW are in need or to reward them ... but I don't like it when someone else decides to take money to give to someone I don't think is in need and certainly doesn't deserve to be rewarded for some reason known only to himself. Taxes are a necessary evil but that doesn't mean I shouldn't protest and work against any tax increase.

Got to go. Have fun.

wayfinder 2
He picked a very qualified VP who could step in God forbid something happened to him. If nothing happens to Obama, he has a VP he can task with different assignments, particularly foreign policy wise, and trust it to be handled. NO ONE can honestly doubt Biden's foreign policy cred.

He has run a respectful campaign and actually has ideas, not just contempt for his opponent.

He's intelligent, cool, calm, and collective. Not the type to make shoot from the hip decisions, but rather would confer with his advisors to make the best choices possible. The past 8 years have called gut-instint decision making the right thing and Harvard education as "elitist".

These are a few of many reasons why im voting for Obama. Do you noticed how I laid out my view of the race without even mentioning John McCain. Just like Obama did last nite. And, just like McCain, you can't make your appeal to another person without trying specifically to tear down Obama. Republicans have no ideals. Nothing new to offer. They are losing because while Obama is stumping on why people should vote for him, McCain is stumping on why people should vote against him. You can't win anything when you're playing D on your side of the field for the whole game.

And before one of you kool aid drinkers trots out "the race is tightening" and "Obama can't close", I suggest you look at the Electorial College map. You know the same one that screwed Gore and Kerry. It's poised to screw McCain next.

Missed one item:

You wrote: "What if I think about it in the way that a tax cut from Obama wouldn't be "taking or stolen from the rich." Rather, what if I thought about it as a return of money i've paid into the tax system since my first job?"

In other words, you are saying that you want back all the tax you paid and that I should pay it back to you while continuing to pay for the things that are needed as well. Why should I want to do that? That is what SS is supposed to be for - except Congress takes all the extra so they can spend it to get reelected. And why should I pay tax when you don't? Doesn't make any sense to me!

Incidently I do not make $250k as you guessed. But Obama's tax increases will not go just to the 5% richest people. It will get anyone who does pay taxes when he gets rid of Bush's tax cut. I saw a report not long ago that pointed out that if you took every penny a person makes over $50,000 a year, it would last the government 11 days. So they MUST get taxes from the rest of us if they expect to keep up or increase their spending.

Bye.

PopYoCola Derides America's Spirit
PopYoCola offers, "and Wall street speculators (who use war as an excuse to "speculate" up the price of just about everything)."

And, as now, speculate oil down? So, what?

America is all about speculation. Speculators made America, from the pioneers to Bill Gates. All entrepreneurs are simply speculators. They are the ones taking the risk. And, of course, to the benchwarmers, when speculators/entrepreneurs lose their homes and life savings over their risks, no one cares. But, if they make a fortune, that's evil!

Speculators have not caused your problems, your Friends in Congress did that by toying with the financial markets for political gain: forcing high risk "affordable housing" loans on the market place by guarantees by Fanny and Freddy, Democratic tools of power.

Of course, like all good Democrats, it is always more convenient to blame the citizens (corporations and populace) as wrong. My guess is that you think what we need to do is reign in the citizens and make Government more powerful and controlling. Sounds like a call for der furer, Obama. He will do just that. Be careful, you just might get what you are asking for.

1. You blame Clinton but dont say why. What is it that he did that cause this mess? He only was in charge when the Dow went up 5,000 points and the economy created the need for 20 million new jobs. What's your beef with him again? I musta missed it in your post.

2. You are truely sad. Why isn't the oil coming here for free? BECAUSE THE OIL COMPANIES WANT YOUR MONEY TOO!!!!! You think they care about ideology? They care about money. Why would you not make more money if you could? They sell a product that people need. It's called a monopoly im sure you know. They didn't invade so oil could be cheaper. The former oilman invaded so his friends in the industry could have ACCESS TO MORE OIL. Did you know Shell Oil opened the first foreign oil company office in Iraq for the first time in their country's history? Access baby, access. If you think we went into Iraq for Al-Qaeda when they weren't there before we came, you're too emotionally invested.

3. I can't really argue your belief his record is bad. It's just your opinion and your entitled to it. This one is really a non starter for a debate. On to the next point.

4. What did Kerry lie about? How can we be for sure if American soldiers didn't kill civilians purposely or otherwise. I wasn't there so i cant say. What i can say is that Republicans wore bandaids with purple hearts on them to mock him and waved flipflops at their convention. Do you remember that? The same party who wears their support of the troops on their sleeves like a badge of honor and are quick to dismiss Dems as Troop or America haters.

5. Trust me. Ive been poor my whole life and my mother had medicare for me. Im thankful my son doesn't have to go to the doctor via medicare. The crappy service, the long waits, the cheap drugs, the inpersonal service. Trust me. No one with employee based insurance would want to give it up to have to sit in a county building all day trying to get their medicare together. I have Kaiser and don't have to wait in long lines and basically are satisfied with the service it get. People are smart enough (I hope LOL) to realize they get what they pay for. You pay nothing for your healthcare, you get the minimal.

6. I understand that you dont want to argue Palin's cred vs. Biden's cred. That would be like the New England Patriots (with Brady) going against your local high school football team. It would be kinda sad to watch after a while. So i guess we CAN leave it at that.

7. You still have yet to tell me if im wrong for being an optimist instead of a pessimist like you. Am i wrong to think of an Obama tax cut as a return on money I've paid into the system already rather than a robin hood style rob the rich and give to the poor?

I've enjoyed the debate if you have to go, have a good day. You are still as much a patriot as me even if your on the other side of the fence. That's all i want people to see. The fact that we, as Americans, are so engaged in the process shows our patriotism. God bless and put the kool aid down and try some water. Peace.

I never said i want all the tax money ive ever paid back and want you to pay for everything. I know that taxes are vital for roads, bridges, cops, firefighters, street lights etc etc. My point is simply a matter of perception. If i look at, not a check in the mail, but a decrease in taxes taking out of my bi-weekly check as a partial payment from tax money ive paid, would i be wrong? I wont get back every dime i've paid. Im not foolish enough to even think that way for one second. But if I can get a 20% savings every two weeks but Exxon Mobil record profit is 12 billion instead of 14 billion, i'd say that's a fair trade off.

Calling all Lefties
Hey here's an idea!

Pretend as though, instead of being some kind of "down n outer" for what ever your rationalizations, you are now a conservative.

Let's say for example you have worked hard all your life, never asked for a hand out, you work to keep your small business moving forward and you try to instill good moral and ethical values in your children.

Sounds good right?

Well here comes the problem. The government wants to make growing your business (growing the economy) and raising your children more difficult. You raise prices on your consumers because this is the better solution than laying people off. Since your a small business, you don't get a government hand-out nor do you want one because this gos against everything that you believe in. You got your start in life by living in a tent for 1 year out of high school untill you could save enough money for your first apartment. College wasn't an option because loans wern't available to your "white, just over the income limit family" So you never looked back and never made excuses.

You try and teach your children to work hard and that there is no free lunch-just like the way you grew up, but they don't understand why half of Americans don't seem to care about that, and in a way there is a free lunch right?

It's harder being a Conservative because it means taking personal responsibility for your health, education, budgeting, and all other aspects of your life that culminate in the sum of where you are in your life at any given moment. While this is any thing but easy, it will lead you to greater fullfillment, happyness, prosperity, health and wisdom.

Or you can continue blaming others and being a victim and counting on the government to help you-it is your choice and always has been!!

One more fact for the genius Baseball
did you know that all of those states you've named pay more in taxes to the government than they recieve from the government? did you know that 85% of Republican voting states take in more money than they pay in taxes while 85% of Democratic voting states (like those you've named) pay more than they take from the fed? Sounds like all those Repub states and their citizens enjoy a little socialism of their own from time to time huh. Now, be gone with you.

Mike - RI
Time for a little self-introspection when it comes to taxes.
It's Conservative thought that has brought on this financial meltdown. Spending more than you have will surely lead to disaster.

It was conservative Republicans who spend more than the Democrats.

It's nigh time for some fiscal Conservatism.

So what explains the distribution of federal taxing and spending? States that get the "worst deal"—that is, have the lowest ratio of federal spending to taxes paid—are generally high-income states either on the coasts or with robust urban areas (such as Illinois and Minnesota). Perhaps not coincidentally, these "donor" states also tend to vote for Democrat candidates in national elections. Similarly, many states that get the "best deal" are lower-income states in the mid-west and south with expansive rural areas that tend to vote Republican.

News reports commonly interpret this to mean that "red state" lawmakers are more successful at bringing home federal spending than "blue state" lawmakers. It's often suggested that the way to correct this imbalance is for "blue state" lawmakers to step up efforts to capture additional spending for their states, and for "red state" lawmakers to pare back their voracious appetite for ever-growing pork-barrel spending.

This interpretation may be appealing, but it's probably wrong. The much more likely factor driving the persistent imbalance between federal taxing and spending isn't the relative ability of lawmakers to "bring home the bacon," but is the fact that higher income states bear a larger fraction of the federal tax burden—an imbalance that is sharply amplified by the progressive structure of the federal income tax.

Life in Taxachusetts is getting colder. If you've haven't heard, we are in the middle of the 50 states as far as the tax burden is concerned.

Did you hear we've had Republican governors for most of the past 15 years with William Weld and Mitt Romney. Romney did pass his onerous universal health care plan and then 'cut and ran' from it when he was on the Republican primary trail.

William Weld has just endorsed Obama.

ProudtobeanAmerican
Ouch!, can you please turn down the nasty rhetoric else I will have to cut and run from this web site.

As a parting screed may I add that George Bush, and now with the help of Hank Paulson, Republicans have tacked on as much debt from 2001-2008, than as in the previous 210 years of our peaceful and freedom-loving America.

George Bush, Denny Hastert, Bill Frist, Tom Delay and John Boehner massively increased the size of government during this time. They doubled the size of the Department of Education. They increased pork-barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 projects a year. They, believe it or not, added a $50 billion a year, additional entitlement program onto the backs of Americans. We are currently spending $120 billion a year on carrying out a social-engineering project in the Middle East.

All of these big government projects have been financed with a ton of debt. This debt is symbolic of wealth redistribution from the Republicans who ruled DC during this time onto the backs of America's children and the unborn. They never had a chance to vote, but are now saddled with a debt approaching $33,000 per person. It's all been a big disgrace to we Conservatives.

Perhaps we can join hands and agree to get the American farmer of the teat of the government sow?

Republicans did have the 'audacity' to increase farm subsidies from 2001-2007 to the princely sum of $34 billion a year.

1. Clinton. You weren't around then or before he was President. Sufficient to say, he was the crookedest President we ever had. A lot of people liked him; I don't. It would take pages to tell why and as long as he and Hillary doesn't get back into office of any sort I no longer care.

2. The reason the oil isn't coming from Iraq is because we never invaded to take it. That is one of the main causes given by the liberal agenda.

3. Anyone who votes 'present' all the time isn't representing anyone.

4. I was in Nam. We didn't kill civilians like Kerry said. He said that for publicity. And what the Swiftboaters said was true - that's why he couldn't refute it with facts since he didn't have any. The Purple Hearts were a farce. All three were for scratches. If I had one for each time I got a scratch I'd have about two hundred. I was offered one twice and turned it down out of respect for those who earned them. Several of his other statements were lies too. He wanted the best of both sides and ended up not getting either.

PopYoColla:
5. They didn't have medicare when I was growing up. My family considered a $100 a week as big money. Too many times there was no choice in food on the table. You either ate it or went hungry since there wasn't anything else. Hunting was a necesity, not a sport. I know what your mother went through, however. Plan on more with Obama's health program. A friend from England told me that you have to wait up to three days AFTER your appointment to see a doctor - and you may wait over a day in an emergency room. That is the health program wanted here.

6. Palin's experience vs. Biden's in neither here nor there. Not many people on either side has been in Congress as long as Biden has been. The only question is whether she can do it. I believe she can.

7. I'm not a pessimist - I'm a conservative. As one, I make my decisions and choices based on experience - either my own or what I've learned from others. All my experience says Obama's ideas have been tried and failed - many times. Having a different person in charge isn't going to change things. You are young enough that you don't have the experience yet but you will someday. Nearly all younger people are liberals since they follow a dream; nearly all older people are conservatives since they are able to see through the dream to the reality behind it. I'll expect you to be a conservative in about thirty more years.

PopYoColla:

8. You are not wrong to want less taken out of your check - but that means a tax decrease. Obama has already said many times that he isn't going to give one. Instead, he is going to allow the tax cut to expire; that means your taxes go up. Further, he wants to tax 401k stocks, which hurts anyone depending upon them for retirement. And I'll be very surpried if your own retirement doesn't depend on 401k. True, you aren't there yet, but I'm close. He wants to put inheritance taxes back. Those are primarily used to prevent you for getting anything when your parents pass away. And don't say they have to be rich. They don't. They have already paid taxes on that; why should you have to pay it again? Increaseing taxes on Exxon won't decrease your own. There are about 200 million tax payers in the U.S. You can calculate the amount of difference in everyone's pay check if they take two billion from Exxon. Besides, the two billion doesn't really come from Exxon. It comes from the people who buy Exxon products - you and me. They simply raise the price of their goods to cover the cost. And don't say they won't. The government laws are set up that way. If they weren't, too many companies would either go out of business or move somewhere else.

Have a good one.

45caliber
Do you realize that the Republicans actually added another whole layer of entitlement spending in 2003? Yes, they added Medicare Prescription, that costs $50 billion a year. That entire cost has been dumped onto the national credit card.

Part of that Republican spending program forbids the government from negotiating drug prices to get the best deal for the taxpayer.
The Republican mantra is "what ever the taxpayer will bear", instead of the more free-market lyric of "whatever the free-market will bear."

Another part of the deal was to make it a felony for an American to go to Canada and purchase their drugs at a cheaper cost.

Passage from the book, Prairie Fire:

"Our job is to tap the discontent seething in many sectors of the population, to find allies everywhere people are hungry or angry, to mobilize poor and working people against imperialism.

We have an urgent responsibility: to destroy imperialism from within in order to help free the world and ourselves from its grasp.

Our final goal is the destruction of imperialism, the seizure of power, and the creation of socialism. Our strategy for this stage of the struggle is to organize the oppressed people of the imperial nation itself to join with the colonies in the attack on imperialism. This process of attacking and weakening imperialism involves the defeat of all kinds of national chauvinism and arrogance; this is a precondition to our fight for socialism."

Leo get off McCain's sack
Leo says: is that some kind of lib idiocy to question everyone's qualifications. As far as running for office, only Barack the Messiah's qualifications are inviolate...Harvard Law graduate thanks to affirmative action and community organizer (I'm going to be barfing here) just like Jesus....

Pop says: I learned the importance of "qualifications" from Republicans being I've had to hear for 20 months how unqualified Obama is. I hate to tell you, you bigot, but Harvard doesn't have an affirmative action program. But thanks for showing everyone your true colors. And BTW, ask anyone who's ever gotten off of drugs, been beaten by their spouse, or lost their jobs and became homeless how important "community organizers" are to them. Some people really shouldn't be allowed to vote.
