Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

"I was struck when I got to Iowa and New Hampshire in January," said Joan Walsh, editor-in-chief of the liberal Web site Salon.com, "by how our media colleagues were just swooning over Barack Obama. That is not too strong a word. They were swooning. The downside, though, is that they hate -- hate Hillary Clinton, most of them. Hate is not too strong a word."

What, media bias in favor of Obama, a leftist Democrat? Yet the same left-leaning media "hates" Hillary Clinton? Really? How about a little evidence?

From January 2007 through May 2007, Harvard, along with the Project for Excellence in Journalism (part of the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press), examined 1,742 presidential campaign stories. The stories appeared in 48 print, online, network TV, cable and radio news outlets. Their conclusion?

"Obama's front page coverage," said the study, "was 70 percent positive and 9 percent negative, and Clinton's was similarly 61 percent positive and 13 percent negative." For Republicans, however, only 25 percent of the stories had a positive tone, and 40 percent were negative. As for network TV newscasts, Democrats were positively portrayed more than twice as often as they were negatively. For Republicans, however, fewer than 20 percent of the stories were positive, with a negative tone twice as often.

May I offer some examples from my files?

Dan Rather, CBS News, Jan. 22, 1993, reporting on the first working day of Bill Clinton's presidency: "On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, President Clinton fulfills a promise (emphasis added), supporting abortion rights. It was 20 years ago today, the United States Supreme Court handed down its landmark abortion rights ruling, and the controversy hasn't stopped since. Today, with the stroke of a pen, President Clinton delivered on his campaign promise to cancel several anti-abortion regulations of the Reagan-Bush years."

Dan Rather, CBS News, Jan. 22, 2001, reporting on the first working day of George W. Bush's presidency: "This was President Bush's first day at the office, and he did something to quickly please the right flank in his party (emphasis added): He reinstituted an anti-abortion policy that had been in place during his father's term and the Reagan presidency but was lifted during the Clinton years."

Tom Brokaw, NBC News, Jan. 22, 1993, reporting on the first working day of Clinton's presidency: "Today President Clinton kept a campaign promise (emphasis added), and it came on the 20th anniversary of Roe v. Wade legalizing abortion."

Tom Brokaw, NBC News, Jan. 22, 2001, reporting on the first working day of Bush's presidency: "We'll begin with the new president's very active day, which started on a controversial (emphasis added) note."

Peter Jennings, ABC News, Jan. 22, 1993, reporting on the first working day of Clinton's presidency: "President Clinton keeps his word (emphasis added) on abortion rights. President Clinton kept a promise today on the 20th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Mr. Clinton signed presidential memoranda rolling back many of the restrictions imposed by his predecessors."

Peter Jennings, ABC News, Jan. 22, 2001, reporting on the first working day of Bush's presidency: "One of the president's first actions was designed to appeal to anti-abortion conservatives (emphasis added). The president signed an order reinstating a Reagan-era policy that prohibited federal funding of family-planning groups that provided abortion-counseling services overseas."

And how about this for sheer gall?

The New York Times, Dec. 30, 2001, editorialized on Rudy Giuliani's waning reign as mayor of New York City: "It would be easy to go on about the things Mr. Giuliani failed to do -- New York City has so many problems and crises and needs that all mayors leave office with far more losses than wins. The most its residents can expect of a mayor is that he -- or someday she -- accomplish one big thing. When measured in that way, Mr. Giuliani more than did the job. He restored New Yorkers' confidence in their ability to control the city's destiny. The long years he spent fighting crime and disorder became the platform from which he showed us how to fight terrorism and Osama bin Laden."

The New York Times, Jan. 25, 2008, re-editorialized the tenure as mayor of the then-presidential candidate: "The real Mr. Giuliani, whom many New Yorkers came to know and mistrust, is a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man who saw no need to limit police power. Racial polarization was as much a legacy of his tenure as the rebirth of Times Square. Mr. Giuliani's arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking. When he claims fiscal prudence, we remember how he ran through surpluses without a thought to the inevitable downturn and bequeathed huge deficits to his successor. He fired Police Commissioner William Bratton, the architect of the drop in crime, because he couldn't share the limelight. He later gave the job to Bernard Kerik, who has now been indicted on fraud and corruption charges."

Any questions?

Now that They're getting Dealt the Dirt
... maybe a few of our liberal friends will believe us when we talk about media bias.

Predictable, Yet Still Galling
Even though the media bias towards the left becomes more strident every year, I never seem to be able to completely give up the hope that our news reporters will suddenly find their scruples and start giving it to the American people straight.

I'm not sure if that makes me a pollyanna optimist, or just plain stupid (don't answer that...merely rhetorical).

No wonder the American people are so ill-informed. The people who purport their job as informing us, all have an axe to grind. Mere shills for the democrat party. Pitiful.

Hillary answer
Hillary is not liked by the liberal press, because she is not as far left as Kennedy, and Obama is farther left than him. Read the constitution and see what the government is for. Certainly not all the Junk (keeping it clean) they do. Tax worth out repensentation then spend more..

Media
This is the first primary/election season that I have seen where a news channel (MSNBC) is like a 24/7 infommerical for Obama. I was not jumping up and down for Hillary, but the stuff that Oberman and Matthews said was terrible.
I thought CNN was different, but then Campbell Brown almost fainted, while swooning over Barack at the debate. Still don't get that!

Out with the Old, In with the New
I love how the liberal press eat their own (Hillary). Nice Article!

Isn't editorializing
on the front page anymore?

media bias
i really get very tired of this bull. there are about 3000 newspapers printed at least weekly in this country. perhaps 15 or 20 top drawer dailies and the rest small town, smaall circulation. i dont know what trhe exact proprortion of conservative to liberal papers there are amond these smaller papers but it it is great, hugely conservative, and cnsrvatives know this , so when you talk about media bias yiou are mistake or lieing. based on previous xperience ill take lieing

Larry Elder's the Media Dislike
Glad to see it in print. The adoration of Senator Obama, however strident it might be, is an obvious bias. He's the new poster child, replacing both of the Clintons; but where is the column listing quotes about the Supreme Court calmly enunciating laws? Surely the Dred Scot opinion (1857) is but one example. The Court continues unabated striking state laws and writing with impunity whatever they wish to legislate. Isn't that the job for the Congress?

An old joke

Not in depth, but unbiased, for sure.

MRCMRC

First of all, we're talking about the national MSM, not your local Bohunk Bulletin, which reflects the local political bent. Those "15 or 20 top drawer dailies" and especially the electronic media (NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, MSNBC, CNN and the like) provide nearly all of the national and world news to America’s great, ignorant unwashed.

Secondly, if you read as well as you write, I find it hard to believe that you can comprehend a simple Weekly Reader, never mind an adult newspaper. Have you ever considered writing your posts in, say, MS Word and running it through a spelling and grammar checker before posting? It'd save you the embarrassment of having to see your ignorance displayed on a national forum. To put it another way, you're like a loud, unwashed barfly, dressed in a greasy t-shirt and filthy jeans, shooting his mouth off in a four-star restaurant.

goatlockerloungelizard, I'd like to
reply, most definetly neither. That makes you quite intuitive. And that sustains hope for the only chance for positive future.

Reference Russert. Here lies a good example of HOW to perform one's duties among adversity, corruption, tabloid, bias, corporate pressures and so forth.

There is only one truth. Get to it, only.

media;s hatred of Hillary
So the truth comes out. Hillary Clinton now knows what it is to be lied about in order to push the left wing conspiracy agenda (not the right wing conspiracy as she used to claim) is not on her side anymore. They are not even on her husband's side. All because the media is going along with the democratic party's current agenda. That is to try to show themselves as not racially biased and to be the party of the first black President. People have endorsed Barack Obama even though he listened to a preacher that preached hatred for twenty years and listened to a leading black muslim named Farakahn.

Bob_C Reply #3
I agree. It's hard to believe there is someone out there with no shift key and no knowledge of spelling. I don't even try to read MRCMRC anymore. He's an insult to ordinary intelligence.

How do you know?
MRCMRC, We all know what is in the 15 or so "top drawer week dailies". As the scientists say, "that is emirical". Neither you nor I know what the slant is of the remaining locals. When you say, "I don't know what the exact proportion to liberal papers there is..." you speak the truth. When you say, "...it is great, hugely conservative..." you are talking about something you cannot know. Like most liberals your live in you head.

Liberal Bias
Liberals will never admit to the bias in the main stream media because in their minds it is how news should be. I expect their bias. What irks me is that they still spew out their lies that they are "objective journalists". What they are unable to accept nor stop is that there is now the alternative medium; the Internet. They attempt to smear this as Bob Beckel did on Fox News when he stated that conservative blogs created the Michelle Obama "whitey" comments. This was started by Hillary Clinton operatives not from conservative blogs. Beckel is trying to taint the use of the Internet by conservatives as "hate speech". Nice try Bob, but it won't work.

Media bias
Too bad we can't just have the candidates speak on radio/TV for 1/2 and hour or an hour, perhaps once a week, and give us their plans, platforms, etc., - - - and forbid the pundits to say a word. That way, perhaps we could decide for ourselves which candidate we want, not what the press wants.

Top this one - I dare you
"Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a NEW WAY OF BEING ON THE PLANET, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment."

And there is more, but please - do not eat or drink for at least one hour before attempting to read this whole piece, and remember that this guy actually gets paid to write this stuff.

His name is Mark Morford and he writes for the San Francisco Chronicle and the above was written on June 6, 2008.

The problem is not media bias!
The problem is the fools that believe that a "good" journalist should be unbiased. Journalist are people. People are biased. They can't help it. They will never be able to change. If you do not like the slant of a particular journalist, stop reading, listening to, or watching the products of that journalist. Ignore them into irrelevance.

one more thing
Warning - The following is a quote from the Archbishop of Denver concerning the Catholic Church's position on abortion.

(A Catholic voter) would "need a compellingly proportionate reason to justify it (a vote for Obama) ... It's the kind of reason we will be able to explain, with a clean heart, to the victims of abortion when we meet them face to face in the next life ..... which we most certainly will. If we're confident that those victims will accept our motives as something more than an alibi, then we can proceed."

Source - Kathryn Jean Lopez, June 9 2008, National Review Online "Catholics for Obama?

Insighting Truth, Sadly, you are
mostly right.

But didn't Tim J. Russert do a great job to prove one CAN!?

The choice is the journalist's.

The difference
The difference between the mainstream media and say right wing media outlets like fox news is that the mainstream media trys to be unbiased and often fails, though not to the extent that Conservatives who cherry pick the coverage believe. On the other hand Fox News is so totally biased that its use of the term fair and balanced is actually offensive. If you claim to be fair and balanced then act that way. If you want to be a counter balance to what you believe is the bias in the mainstream media then admit that you are that.

There are plenty of bias in the media that have nothing to do with ideology. The media is biased in favor of something shiney and new, something unique, someone who gives them more access. McCain for example has always been a darling of the media because unlike many other conservatives he reached out to them and showed them respect in turn they have often overlooked his mistakes and contraditions.

BGW himself got a lot of good press because the media thought the father son presidency was a novel throw back to the founding fathers. All of the stuff about who would you rather have a beer with that favored GWB was well circulated in the mainstream media. The media also played up the regular guy GWB, vs, the quirky personality Gore and certainly helped get GWB elected.

The mainstream media easily picked up on the social security is broke story even though what BUSH was proposing would not have worked to fix the system.

Finally, the swift boat lies would not have been so well circulated if they were not picked up over and over again by that biased media. Yes it was because of their bias in favor of controversy and scandal over policy.

MSM Doesn't Cherry Pick the News?
JMO51,

Are you really that naive when you say the the MSM doesn't cherry-pick news stories? It happens all the time if you would just check Lucianne.com, a poster-generated newslog of articles from all over the English-speaking world. These articles provides news of considerable import which are never mentioned by the MSM.

How about all the coverage that wasn't done on Obama's outrageous statements, his outright lies and evasions about his past, his upbringing, his associations until the Internet exposures were to great to ignore?

How much coverage has there been of the 33,000 scientists who signed a petition against the myth of man-caused "global warming?" Not enough to undo the lies of the the fanatics. The size of the dissenters' group should serve as a caution to believers of Al Gore's con.

Maybe Fox seems to you to cherry-pick stories because they include the news of importance that presents the world as it is, not as the Left-leaning MSM would have you believe it is.

Finally!
And don't forget about how the media brought us $4 gas, the do-nothing Congress, and underpants gnomes.

Man, if we could just stamp out the media and install a government-run media like Zimbabwe---oh wait a second---we have it. It's Fox News.

If you don't like the media, turn the channel or turn it off---in America we still have that right. Don't whine they are hurting your holier-than-thou ears and go out of your way to be offended---grow a spine.

Repub/Cons think U.S. Public is Stupid
First of all I think that "msm bias" against repubs/cons is a bunch of baloney. It's just an excuse for their own self-generated blunders, bad political policy and scandals. In the minds of repubs/cons any of the above that reflects negatively on them is NOT supposed to be reported.

Not only that the premise that the so-called msm has some agreement with the DNC to slant the news FOR Democrats and Against Republicans is absolutely absurd and has never been proven.

Repubs/Cons NEVER take responsiblity for ANYTHING THAT GOES BAD for them. Its ALWAYS SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULT...

Lets see the “Fairness Doctrine” isn’t that the Pelosi and the democrat attempt to shut off any opposition to the failed democrat party line?

The Fox news channel is the only opposition to MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBC, etc on the TV. Talk radio is the only opposition conservatives have to the myriad of newspapers, magazines, TV talk shows that democrat propagandists use to promote their failed ideas. The democrat party policy is not to follow your advice and grow a spine by turning off the TV or Radio they wish to emulate Big Brother remove any resemblance of a spine the democrats might have had at one time in the distant past by removing the temptation to listen to any opposition to the party line.

If you do not like Fox TV or talk radio, why don’t you follow your own advice and attempt to simulate a spine by turning it off. Better yet listen to the message with an open mind and be converted to support a viable government.

Give a liberal a heart attack . . . admit you have a father and you know him.

Republicans in general get rid of...
their garbage and democrats re-elect them. Prime examples are Ted Kennedy (fled the scene of a fatal traffic accident) and Barney Franks (allowed a homosexual brothel to be run out of his house). We need media that provide factual reporting of the news. MSM on occasion has been caught in a barefaced lie. The prime example of that is when they presented the falsified document regarding GWB's military service. Some had the defense that the document was false but the information was accurate.

Brujo Blanco: a response
"The prime example of that is when they presented the falsified document regarding GWB's military service. Some had the defense that the document was false but the information was accurate."

from what i have read it has never been proven that the documents is question were indeed falsified because they were copies the originals could not be found.

Informed Voter
What kind of argument is that? You don't like it, turn it off? No one here is suggesting a government run media. Conservatives are far more likely to REMOVE government involvement from such things.

Although we are not suggesting stifling the news we are certainly going to call out egregious bias when we see it. It is rampant in the news, but the left slant is evident in all aspects of media (movies, tv shows etc).

So, you accuse us of wanting to government run media, but you are completely comfortable with the way things are (drastically slanted left). Why? Because it happens to support your viewpoint. So of course you are for us just "turning the channel if we don't like it".

Left Dangle
"First of all I think that "msm bias" against repubs/cons is a bunch of baloney."

Does this include the phony story CBS made up about the National Guard?

"Repubs/Cons NEVER take responsiblity for ANYTHING THAT GOES BAD for them. Its ALWAYS SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULT..."

Here are some examples from the "party of accountability:

Ted Kennedy - vehicular manslaughter, DUI, obstruction of justice, fleeing the scene of an accident - still in Congress.

Barney Frank - allowed a gay whorehouse in his taxpayer-funded house - still in Congress.

Gerry Studds - had gay sex with a minor (in most states); stayed in Congress till voluntary retirement.

William Jefferson - $90K hidden in his freezer - still in Congress.

Robert Byrd - leader of KKK - still in Congress.

Slick Willie - obstruction of justice; suborning perjury - served out his term.

By contrast:

Trent Lott - made ill-advised speech; stripped of Speakerhood (or whatever).

Mark Foley - sent steamy emails; out of Congress.

Nixon - covered up a crime; forced to resign.

Duke Cunningham - guilty of corruption; sent to prison.

The Left betrays Hillary: whoduthunkit?
The abandonment by the left of Hillary Clinton is a textbook illustration of how the political left has been treating its own at least since the Bolshevik Revolution. Between the time that Hillary Clinton first came on the national scene as a counsel to the very same House committee that was working on bringing articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon before the whole House until the start of the primary season this year, other than maybe her vote on the war in Iraq, which of Hillary's political positions that cause the left to sing hosannas to her in all those 35 years changed from then until now? For most of her life, Hillary has been a unimpeachable liberal. Yet when she proves to be an inconvenience to her fellow libs without even having done anything to merit their abandonment of her - they simply happened to find another "saviour" they liked better - they throw her under the bus as though she had NEVER really been one of them in the first place any more than, say, Ann Coulter, a la the Oceania society of George Orwell's 1984. She has in effect become a modern-day Leon Trotsky, a man who was a major factor in bring the Bolshevik Revolution into being and then got turned on by the very people whose cause he had faithfully soldiered in.

Hillary's treatment by the very people she has co-labored with so long only goes to show what I've said more than once in my posts recently: with liberals, there are only ALLIANCES, never ALLEGIANCES. It also goes to show why I'm distrustful of having liberals as friends: I've seen this liberal treatment of their own among many a liberal I've known personally, and I know therefore that the typical liberal would sell me out in a moment for the slightest advantage for a moment in time. Who needs it? I sure don't.

Left Angle
Regarding the flap in 2004 with Dan Rather and those documents about George Bush's military service:

To the best of my understanding, CBS has NEVER admitted that Dan Rather's information came from falsified documents. Which is why I wonder why the four that CBS fired over the incident, including Mary Mapes, didn't challenge in court their firing by CBS. Although it's possible that maybe CBS gave them all sizable settlements secretly to get them to leave CBS and keep their mouths shut; all four were still on CBS' payroll several months after they were supposedly fired, which tells me that there must have been some behind-the-scenes maneuvering going on between CBS and the four, who undoubtedly had plenty of CBS' dirty laundry available to air in court if CBS had been willing to push things that far. Of course, Rather himself is in the process of suing CBS over HIS being eased out of that organization: I'm betting that the suit will end with CBS paying Rather a sizable but undisclosed settlement, basically to buy his silence. I'm sure that Rather, too, has plenty enough on CBS to greatly embarass it if the suit actually comes to a court trial.

While I agree with your statement " to ignore columnists or presenters of info of which the individual disapproves, It still goes without saying that the mass of MSM is done by left leaning overly liberal dreamers who are hired and kept on by Managers who take instructions from the owners.

The problem of left bias is plain to see when you consider that the Murdocks and all the rest of the "big boys" who own multiple newspapers and TV stations and share holdings in CBS, NBC, ABC, etc., are who are really directing the news presented to us, not the individual writer/commentators. They have simply been hired and retained for purposes less than Kosher(less than patriotic).

Look behind the curtain if you wish to see the puppeteer. The push by the "One Worlders" to establish a lesser democracy and have a slave like middle class with the extremely wealthy as our overseers is well under way.

It is a shell game. Don't believe for a second that the individuals are leaning to the left, but rather the News Source Owners are trying to destroy our Republic and that of many other countries to thereafter create a new government under different rules, their rules..

Shades of medieval Europe...

Also keep in mind that these self same "owners" also play both sides of the street. Conservative, so called, sources like Fox are often tools of the "owners" with a push-pull and destroy theme central to their operations.

Not all gold is gold. Don't be too quick to praise what only appears to be conservative. As they said in the 60's 70`s, challenge authority and believe half of what your friends, so called, say about anything.....

republicans on abortion
ever considered that possibility that perhaps there is a giant conspiracy amonmg republicans to not pass too musch anti abortion legislation. why, after almost 50 years, when reps have ben in and out of power, when they have had sizeable majorities in both houses and the presidency have they not succeeded in passing any really significant. was anti abortion on gingrichs whatever for america? anti abortion legislation. if dems both as majority and somethimes minority party can block this kind o legislation why dont reps use the same means to block dem legislation they find objectionable. (drug medicine subsidy ). why do dems know the rules that block reps from doing so much, when they are minority or majoruty but reps dont know the same rules. could be that they dont want anti abortion toget too serious.? by the way what is mccain stand on abortion. definitly against killing fetus. definitly in favor of using federal funds to killwembryo or stem cells. see any hippoctracy there . after all dead is dead

"ever considered that possibility that perhaps there is a giant conspiracy amonmg republicans to not pass too musch anti abortion legislation."

Yes. Who gets aborted? would-be children of liberals. Blacks, who account for 12% of the population, have 37% of the abortions, and they vote Democrat 85-92% of the time.

Think about it - the Republican laydown allowing abortion and gay marriage is simply a sinister plot to eliminate liberal voting blocs.

Left Angle
Where in ANY of my posts to this thread did I PERSONALLY say that the CBS documents were falsified? All I said was that it has been CBS' official position all along to refuse to accept as an established fact that Dan Rather got his information from falsified documents; I never offered an opinion myself on whether I personally believe it to be the case that Rather's information in fact DID come from falsified documents. CBS' official position on this matter, as I TRIED to explain in my prior post, is totally pertinent to the issue of the firing of the four people, led by Mary Mapes, it fired in connection with this affair: if CBS isn't prepared to say that there was fraud connected with this story that the four it fired were involved in compiling and broadcasting, then on what grounds did CBS these four, if it was not prepared to impugn their journalistic integrity? Of course, CBS could always have justified the firing of the four using the fig leaf of CBS News' low ratings at the time - but I don't recall CBS citing this fact in connection with the firings, then or since. This is why, as I said before, if I had been one of these four, I'd have threatened CBS with a lawsuit if they tried to fire me over this matter - unless CBS gave me a very nice severance package to buy my silence. And maybe, as I said before, CBS did just this: I notice none of the four have talked publicly about this whole thing ever since they were let go from CBS, except Mary Mapes a little. So my belief is that in fact CBS DID buy them off under the table. Which is what I believe it will likewise do with Rather eventually.

Tea Party
I probably have never personally met your brother-in-law, but from how you describe him, it sounds like I've met many LIKE him. I lived in L.A. County for 15 years until not all that long ago, and so I had a chance to witness up close and personal how liberals treated EACH OTHER: it wasn't a pretty picture.

Maybe your brother-in-law, in terms of pure brainpower, may actually BE smarter than his older Christian brother - but you know liberals, the one measure of a person they definitely give no value to is CHARACTER. Have you ever noticed how, whenever a prominent liberal you see on TV is challenged by a conservative to defend another prominent liberal who has been revealed by some particular event to be a person of low character, the liberal who defends that other liberal will try to defend him by talking about his POLITICS - not his actual ACTIONS? Or they'll start attacking the character of some conservative in response - and ignore the person altogether they're being asked to defend. Ask any liberal you know to defend the character of Bill/Hillary Clinton or some other prominent liberal (like Ted Kennedy) - and see if how they immediately respond is, "Well, let's talk about [insert favorite conservative bogeyman's name here: George Bush, Dick Cheney, etc.]'s character". I'm betting in the vast majority of cases, that's JUST how they'll respond.

The "swiftboat lies" were not lies. They were the truth.

standhisground: a response..
ok cool so let me ask you.. do you think the documents were falsified?

the four that cbs fired, from what I have read, is because the failed to get the documents "authenticated" before going on the air with the story. a journalistic no-no. I understand that that is a very serious matter which lead to their dismissal.

also from what I have read the documents were never proven to be authentic, nor were the proven to be fakes, because they were copies, not the originals which were never found.

Clinton under the bus
The media found a new darling.
The libs found someone further to the left.
Under the bus.
No surprise to anyone but the Clintons, who, regarless of how deserving they are of this, must be feeling very discarded by all who formerly adored and used them.

Obama-Messiah on Iraq War
We can't let the American soldiers win the war in Iraq because it would hurt our 'collective' power grab.

NEWSFLASH: Many members in the MSM are seeking relief for depression because of the reports that the American soldiers are winning the war in Iraq.

Obama-Messiah will do his best to ensure that America will lose the war against terrorism to bring 'Hope' to Democrats and the MSM.

Obama-Messiah wants the Democrats and the MSM to concentrate on leg shivers and involuntary orgasms to ease the pain and depression of the American soldiers winning the war in Iraq - SCOTUS applauds the Obama-Messiah effort.

*Free tin foil hat fitting for everyone voting for Obama-Messiah.

Satire? He's incredibly bad at it if that's what you call it. Feigning ignorance and stupidity is hardly satire - it's more like bad slapstick comedy.

tea and stand
Noting your discussion, I must say that I know (and am related to) quite a few liberals, and I don't adjudge them to be of low character.

To me there are a couple of kinds of liberals: one kind is just naive and idealistic (=unrealistically idealistic).
They are insufficiently schooled or experienced in how policies actually work out (especially in the unintended consequence area). Things liberal policians say "sound good and right" to them.
The terms "socialism" and "communism" have no real meaning to them, and they equate those terms with some bogeyman empty scare tactic. They have no idea how those ideologies actually work out for people.
They could less kindly be called TOOLS.

The other kind of liberals are AGENDISTS. The ones who actually know exactly what they are doing, a power agenda to gain control of the people. I would include people here like Soros, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Obama - I'm giving them credit here for an awareness they may not have (maybe they're just tools too). And true, you wouldn't want to be anywhere in the vicinity of their bus.

SunThe1: a question
Do you actually believe that people like soros, reid, pelosi clinton and obama are on a mission to convert the u.s. system of government from one of capitalism to one of marxist communism/socialism?

If so please explain exactly how they would go about doing this?

Liberal Press
If I thought many of these posters were serious about the press and their bias,I would be really worried about their sanity.

No,I think they just come on these threads to entertain us and let us know they are checking up on what we are saying.Hope you enjoy us.

No person who is able to write a legible post, can seriously believe what they have written. If they do believe it,they are really in need of a good psychiatrist.

The press not biased against Republicans? Give me a break.Anyone with one eye and half sense knows they are. You lefties just don't want to hear the other side, but stay on these threads and you will.

I will not be intimidated by your left wing lies, and that's exactly what they are. LIES.

Left Angle
All right, NOW I'll insert my personal opinion as to whether I think the documents from which the information that Dan Rather's story in 2004 about George Bush and whether he got some special favor to avoid military service came from.

Yes, I most certainly DO believe they were falsified; I believe it took less than 24 hours after CBS first aired this story and showed the documents on which Rather's reporting was based for the blogosphere to cast serious doubts on the authenticity of those documents. And make no mistake about it, CBS itself had grave doubts about the authenticity of those documents once the blogosphere pounced on its story, also, contrary to what it may have said publicly. If CBS was reasonably confident that the documents were authentic, Mapes and her compadres would still be at CBS to this day, you can be sure of that. Obviously, CBS wasn't about to publicly ADMIT those doubts - but it also obviously wasn't prepared to take its entire journalistic credibility (whatever little it still had left by that time) to the mat on the issue of the authenticity of the documents. I have absolutely no doubt that to this day CBS' top brass believes, like Rather, like liberals in general, that the story was true even if the source of the information was dubious.

I also further believe that the REAL reason that Mapes and her compadres (and later Rather, in effect) were fired from CBS wasn't because of the doubts of the story itself, but because George Bush was re-elected. Had Kerry won, everyone connected with the story would have been treated as heroes by the liberal media and been showered with honors by their fellow liberals. But when Kerry lost, the four were no longer useful to their fellow libs and were thrown under the bus - yet ANOTHER example that supports my arguments in my post of 11:06 am.

Standhisground: a response..
they were fired beause they didnt "authenticate" the documents before putting the story on the air. and i will say it once again: the documents were never proven to be authentic, nor were they proven to be fake.

the only thing that is dubious is Prez Bush's
National Guard record. You like most repubs/cons believe the dan rather incident put those questions to rest. It did not.

Standinghisground
I am in your corner. This was the Democrat's October Suprise. They do it every election. Put something out at the last minute, when it is too late to fight it,if it's a lie.

The GWBush DUI charge was another dirty trick. It happened to be true, but it was known by the press long before it was aired. They saved it,again until the last minute.

They tried it with the Casper Wineberger story and the GHWBush foreign trip he was said to have taken. Both known lies.

I wonder what they will use to try to disqualify McCain in October. They can be counted on to try something. At the last minute.

Dan Rather is like many of these posters. They are inflicted with 'Bush-Hatred Syndrome'.There is no cure, they just have to suffer the pain and discomfort of their malady. Thank God.

No Questions
No, Larry, there are no questions at all.

Actually, I do have one. Newscaster quiz: Who said (don't have the exact quote but it's close), "Thank you very much, Mr. President. If we could be half as great as you and Hilary Rodham Clinton have been in the White House, we'd take it right now and call it winners. Please give our regards to Mrs. Clinton and tell her we're pulling for her."

Left Angle and Rowly
Left Angle:
CBS can publicly put whatever fig leaf it wants on why it fired Mary Mapes and her compadres concerning the George Bush/National Guard story that Dan Rather aired in 2004. It can tell the world until kingdom come that these were fired for insufficiently vetting the source of the information for Rather's story before airing it. There's still no doubt in MY mind that if John Kerry was in the Oval Office right now, that Mapes and her compadres would still be in THEIR offices at CBS - with nice, fat pay raises to boot. Do you seriously doubt that, Left Angle? After all, to liberals, the end justifies the means. If Kerry had been elected, regardless of how dishonest Mapes & Co. may have been regarding Rather's story, all would have been forgiven. You'll notice that when the blogosphere publicly discredited Rather's account, the rest of the MSM didn't DARE touch the issue of George Bush and his National Guard service for the remainder of the 2004 election campaign. But to liberals, Mapes & Co.'s unforgiveable sin wasn't to cast shadows on CBS' journalistic reputation but to fail to get George Bush bounced out of the White House.

Rowly:
I have no doubt, like you, that the MSM has an "October Surprise" planned regarding McCain. If you think the MSM showed gross dishonesty in its reporting in the 2004 election campaign, I think it will be child's play compared to what we have already seen from the MSM - and will see from them in the next 4+ months. Of course, a lot of people think Hillary is planning her own "October Surprise" for Barack Obama just before the Democrats' convention - to try to yank the nomination away from him at the last moment. Part of me hopes she succeeds: can you imagine the spectacle of blacks rioting and staging massive and very public protests and calling white DEMOCRATS racists with the whole world watching? It would be almost too good to be true.

Left Angle
Yes I do believe that.
Ms Waters and others want to take over oil companies and have the government run them. Mrs. Clinton said "I'll take those profits..." and implement her million social programs with it. Mr. Obama has said "I'll MAKE the oil companies invest a percent of their profits in other fuels..."
Redistribution of wealth to achieve equality is exactly the definition of a socialist/communist iddeology.
I think they have a world view that is very different from a sovereign America. Mr. Obama is certainly a "we are the world" kind of guy. Loves the UN. Wants the UN to administer our foreign aid programs to combat global poverty.

How? By continuing to squash free enterprise. By adding more and more social programs. By taxing and regulating business out of existence then taking it over, making everyone a government employee.
By making people increasingly dependent on government for everything.
"Without firing a shot" is something you could google.

standinghisground
I don't think the Clintons are finished yet. They still have their war room working behind the scenes.

I,also hope they are holding something in reserve that will stop this train wreck called Obama.

I want neither of them, but a little dust-up between now and the convention, will make it interesting. (and so-o-o much fun.)

Rowly
I absolutely agree that the Clintons aren't finished yet; if they WERE or thought they were, Hillary would have ENDED, not merely SUSPENDED, her campaign and released her delegates. I'm sure that her war room is busy investigating Obama's past to the most minute details. And if they DO have some very damaging dirt on Obama that no one else knows about yet, they'll follow the same modus operandi they did with the Starr investigation: their people will leak the sordid details to the press and then claim it's the McCain campaign that was the leakers. Might be interesting to learn exactly what Craig Livingstone is doing with his time right about now.

"both of you keep insisting the CBS documents

Well, they were written in Times New Roman 12, a font that didn't exist on typewrites in the 1970s. If someone offered to sell you the Declaration of Independence and handed you a typed document, would you buy it?

Excellent, as usual, Sage. Of course, the Main Stream Media is fall-down Left biased. The evidence is too obvious. Your documentation of their bias keeps such things in the bright lights where it needs to be.

Standinghisground
He is probably working on 'commission' for them. He probably still has copies of the files, also.

I had not thought about them putting the blame on McCain if the dirt comes out. That would be just like them to do that. They would not be tarred with that brush.

I think she is blackmailing him for something. A position in his cabinet,or she is secretly holding something that would be so damaging he would have to pull out.

Hold on tight...this may be a wild ride!!

AZPhil
Maxine Waters said the same thing the other day. I looked over her saying it because of her stupidity. Hinchey cannot blame stupidity for himself. Marxist/socialists/communists wannabes, all of them.

Same Old, Same Old...
Larry Elder, arbiter of ethics. While the U.S. left (and the great majority of the rest of the world, but what do they know) speaks out about the Illegal and Immoral occupation of Iraq, Torture and other crimes committed by the current Criminal in chief and his henchmen and henchwomen Ms Mushroom cloud Condi,) Mr. Elder needs to whine about how it's not fair... those horrible reporters!!! How typical... accept no blame, blame others for everything, and ATTACK!

Public Servant = Social Police
Left Angle asks, "Do you actually believe that people like soros, reid, pelosi clinton and obama are on a mission to convert the u.s. system of government from one of capitalism to one of marxist communism/socialism?"

Well, of course!

Democrat Leaders are elitists that want to control the masses by over-taxing (punishing) the successful amongst us and by rewarding the less successful amongst us to stay in their place and taking all of the power (cash) out of our hands. They want the us to come begging to the State for health care, food, education, energy and housing.

What on earth would you call it? Free enterprise?

Public Servants are nothing more than crowd control for the Socialist Elites. Obama's government promises to need a bunch of these guys and has already started a recruitment effort. If he gets elected, just say Moooooo!

Too Much Kool Aid For jayhawk
jayhawk in aotearoa offers, "While the U.S. left (and the great majority of the rest of the world, but what do they know) speaks out about the Illegal and Immoral occupation of Iraq, Torture and other crimes committed by the current Criminal in chief"

Pelosi and Reid are waiting breathlessly for your evidence. Heck, you would be the darling banner carrier for the Left wing if proven. They would give their first borns for any inkling of truth to any of what you claim. This is your chance! You would be a hero to these guys!

You just don't get it, do you? All of what you claim is nothing more than the political Kool Aid handed out by people like Pelosi and Reid for votes. You drank the Kool Aid, put them in office and they are done with you. It was all a scam for votes.

Unfortunately, like you, many are just wondering around in the wilderness repeating the mantra "If The Glove Don't Fit, You Must Aquit!". Ooops, wrong Kool Aid. ...repeating "Bush Lied, People Died!". Well, good luck! As was often said in the '60's, enjoy the trip!

Left Angle (if you see this)
Actually, the one thing about Dan Rather's story in 2004 about George Bush and his National Guard service that stood out most to me at the time wasn't the allegations themselves but the fact that it seemed to me that this story came up one presidential election cycle too late. Maybe in 2000 this would have been an issue of great gravitas, but by 2004 George Bush already had a record as president for people to judge him on: what happened 30+ years prior was hardly that important by then.

It would be like your employer, after you've been on the job for 10 years after graduating from college, finding out you really got a "D" in a course you had said upon applying for the job you got an "A" in. Well, that may have been a very important consideration to your employer at the time you were looking to first get your foot in the door there, but after 10 years at your employer, I would think that it wouldn't be a relevant consideration anymore: by then, you've either proven to your employer that you can do your job to your employer's satisfaction, WHATEVER your grades may have been in college, or you can't. And if you can't, your employer wouldn't need the fact you may have falsified your academic record as justification to fire you. And if your record on the job by then does meet your employer's approbation, what does it matter to your employer by then what you did in college?

SunThe1
I guess you must have a better class of liberals there in Texas than the ones I met in my time in Southern California. I'll agree with you that the AGENDISTS are the worst of the lot. However, I also knew, and have known, plenty of liberals that would fit into the category of what you called TOOLS. And they are little better. People who are TOOLS because of their naivete are people who are also relatively naive about what is right vs. what is wrong - and these are the people who the AGENDISTS turn to for actually doing their dirty work. A fair number of those who were involved in carrying out the Holocaust fell into your TOOLS category rather than being the AGENDISTS; I'm sure that to the Jews who survived the Holocaust, it's cold comfort to them that some of their relatives were murdered by those who weren't actually idealistic believers in the Nazi cause instead of by those who were fire-eating fanatics for the cause.

Can't wait for November 4th
I can't wait for that first Tuesday in November. When John McCain has won the election in a landslide and the liberal media elites are caught with their mouths hanging wide open on national television. It won't have anything to do with Obama's race, or the his name, or his religion. I believe America will realize long before November 4th that the man is simply not qualified to be Commander and Chief.
http://www.thenewconservatives.blogspot.com/

TheNewConservative:
Baring some extraordinary event that grossly alters the political landscape, I cannot envision a scenario that allows McCain to darken the White House door. He simply does not have the support to win.

Even liberals will eventually come to regret nominating and electing Obama; just as Republicans are already scratching their heads and wondering how they ended up saddled with a loser like McCain. There is no winning hand for America in this deal.

JMO51
Don't you find your critique of FoxNews just a little embarrassing?

Especially considering the Clinton campaigns heavyweights (Lanny Davis & Terry McCauliff who by the way is the former head of the DNC) PRAISED the #1 Cable News Network as being EXACTLY what they claim to be - "The Most Fair & Balanced" of all the networks in its primary coverage of the Dem match-up.

Fact is...the only outlets the Looney-Lib-Left don't control (FoxNews / Talk Radio / Internet) are the reason the Dems are chomping at the bit t re-install the UNfairness doctrine and you all know it!!

Keep in mind though...today it is the conservative message being hunted down - IF the Left ever accomplishes the feat, looney-loser-lingo like yours will be next.

W/O=

Hillary
Even Hillary's people came out saying, FOX had the fairest and best coverage of the political campaign. Drove the lefty loons crazy no doubt. Why do we continue to stand for this anti-free press in this country? All the lefties out there need to remember that FOX was born from the MSM's biased and lackluster news coverage...it was a RESPONSE to an already existing insufferable reality.

They Were All Reporting
Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel, Tim Russert, Etc. were all anchoring, reporting, hosting or broadcasting what is called, "The News" during the time the following poetic composition was written:

"News Anchor"

Are you doing your best?
Or, are you under duress
Am I to believe your report?
Or, must I understand your story
Is only one fourth?

Of course, you must know your power
Is that why you report every hour
Are you prepared to help Americans rise?
Or would you rather just sensationalize

As we stroll through life; the eternal park
Are you not willing, to help Americans in the
dark?
You help to form the opinions of an entire nation
But have you forgotten, this people is, God's
creation?

Surely you must know about truth
How a nation that knows, can bring forth good
fruit
Are you willing to aid in the destruction of
America, point-blank?
All for the price of fattening your account, at the bank
