Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Unlike President Bush, who "neglected" the Israeli/Palestinian peace process until the waning days of his administration, Obama intends to immediately get on it. Last week, he told America's Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) -- America's leading pro-Israel lobby -- that he supports a two-state solution, with Jerusalem as the sole, undivided capital of Israel. (The Bush administration, currently in negotiations with the Israelis and Palestinians, hasn't taken a position on this thorny issue, preferring the parties to negotiate between themselves.) After Obama's statement, the Palestinians immediately cried, "Foul!" and said there would be no discussions with that stipulation! Hamas, the Palestinian terror group, called him no different from Bush. Thus, with this demand, a President Obama threatens to derail talks from the very beginning. But wait!

The next day, Obama said that, well, "obviously" the issue of Jerusalem should be decided by the Israelis and Palestinians -- adopting the same position as "cowboy" Bush.

That's hope.

On deterring Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, Obama accused the Bush administration of "saber rattling." Obama's Web site calls for aggressive diplomacy, but mentions nothing about a military option. But wait!

He told AIPAC, "Let there be no doubt: I will always keep the threat of military action on the table to defend our security and our ally Israel."

What about Iran's Revolutionary Guard? When Sen. Clinton voted to declare the Revolutionary Guard a terror organization, Obama criticized her, and deemed the vote irresponsibly militant. But wait!

He told AIPAC that Iran's Revolutionary Guard is, indeed, a terror organization. So why did he vote otherwise, and attack Clinton? Well, said Obama at the time, it was an unnecessarily belligerent move. But apparently, now they are terrorists because, well, it isn't as belligerent to say so today as it was to say so yesterday.

That's more hope and more change. So, I told Margaret, here's hoping you find this hopeful. If not, I'll change it.

reasons?? they re still dead
im not trying to make out a case for the natural violence of christians or any other religion.. i am sying that it is foollish and dangerous to go around talking about how peaceful your religion is (whatever religion you are) are talking about) and how violent the others are . this is the crap that can lead to massacre and and slaughter just as it has all through histiory. we all , as individuals have flaws, and we are the people that make up a religion. it makes sense that they also are flowed. the danger is with people like anne and ssgt. they are none too bright but have just enough intelligence so that if they and their ilk would ever get poewer they woulf be firt in line to kill the jews, or muslims, or those who dont spell the way they want you to. they would and have throughout history have taken the little sense thay have , invent distorted views of reality (such as all muslims, or all jew, in germanys case, or all something or other) they become frightened. when scared they are especially dangerous because all thty can think of when confromted with a problem is kill someone it is fashionable nowadays to wnat to kill muslims, 25 years ago anne and sgt would, ill bet, have been perfectly willing to kill every russian. 15 years ago their visciousnes would have been directed towards the iraqi people (not the lleaders the poeople). once , a fee years ago it was lets get rid of all the communists on Granada. and just a little after that it would be nice if them damn Panamanians werent in our way. How many people can you hat and kill in one lifetime? ask them they will count the ways.,

Christians kill....
You forget Christians and Muslims lived side by side without any big problems for years in Yugoslavia under Tito and before, all the way back to the Austrian Empire. Jews and Christians lived side by side in Germany until Hitler came along. After Yugoslavia fell apart some asses dredged up some 500 year old history where Muslims had killed a bunch of Christians. That got the Christians all fired up. Just like Muslims are all fired up now to kill Christians because...I am sure you can come up with a long list of reasons from the Crusades to the present. People will continue to kill each other for the damnedest reason Religion being the least and it is not going to stop for a long time if ever.
