Why only 'modern' feminists hate Sarah Palin

Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Sarah Palin has become the most historic feminist icon in a decade. For this honor she has been subjected to derision, ridicule, and endless sexist contempt by not just the Obama/Biden presidential campaign, but other "modern" feminist voices to boot.

Palin's nomination and amazing composure in the heat of the national spotlight have so frightened Obama in fact that he has unleashed "feminist attack dogs" (their words not mine) and are now beginning to tout some of the most sexist, divisive, and backwards minded rhetoric in a generation. The "modern feminists" don't like Palin, she scares them, intimidates them, and shatters the presuppositions of the Steinem, Allred, NARAL, and Oprah crowd. One them (guess which one) is in fact so afraid of her influence, she has refused her a spot on her daily nationally televised talk show.

So it stands to ask the question, "Why does Palin scare them so much?"

And the answer is simple. On September 8 my publisher releases a book that explains this in greater detail, but the short of it goes like this: modern feminists are not/were never true feminists at all.

In fact the brand of "feminism" that emerged from the 1960's was not only faux feminism, it was a deception on every level--especially in its results and promise to bring fulfillment to the women of the culture.

In the midst of the upheaval that particular decade brought us, the use of sex and experimentation in gender bending laid the groundwork for the greatest moral crises we face today. Promising utopia for the sexes, the faux feminism of the 1960's has instead reaped havoc on women's emotions, accomplishments, and physical well beings.

In the 1920's legitimate feminism (or "classic" as I term it in the book) settled the score for women. In the 1920's the issue of equality for women was an inequity that brave women like Susan B. Anthony and others fought for deservedly. The issue at stake in the 1920's was equality. Equal pay for equal work, the right to vote, the right to own land, conduct commerce, and a host of other issues were shown under the classic feminist spotlight for what they were--discrimination based on gender.

But the 1960's crowd, adopting the term "feminist" never sought equality. Instead they sought something that sounded similar but had tragically different results called "sameness."

Equality under God and law, conveyed dignity to each individual regardless of gender. "Sameness" says that each gender is always substitutable for the other under any circumstance. Thus if a man could have much sex in the 1960's without "consequence" then abortion had to be legalized so that women could have the same outcome. And if all it takes is two people to make a marriage then gender should have nothing to do with it. (Thus why Hawaii, in the early 1970's became, almost by accident, the first state to legalize same-sex "marriage" due to the language of the feminist amendment that was passed in that state's legislature. A move the people of that state overturned within five years.)

Sarah Palin believes that she is every bit as competent as Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The truth is she has much more significant experience in being a top executive than the two of them combined, and yet the "modern feminists" continue to prevent her from breaking through the ultimate glass ceiling.

The reason they do so is clear. She believes she is equal to any man who would like to run for office. But she doesn't believe she's the same as them. She has a manly, and (according to several women I've overheard) handsome husband. She is content in their life together as a couple where each goes out and works hard. As a mom she is parenting her kids giving them what mothers give best, and her husband, gives what only a father can.

She's not afraid to don some lipstick and use her comely attraction to romance "her guy" one night, and turn around and beat back corruption as a fierce defender of what is right the next day. She "bitterly" clings to God, and that picture of her holding and aiming an M-16 is one of the coolest pictures on the internet. Excelling in sports, beauty, education, business, and government she is confident in her beliefs, accomplishments, and results. And that's truly what the 1920's feminists set out to achieve.

Susan B. Anthony derided abortion, and there wasn't a sniff of "lesbian rights" amongst the suffragettes. All they wanted was to be treated equally, but they didn't need to restructure the basis of society, or murder their unborn (or in Obama's world "born") children to do so.

My book actually examines what the faux feminist movement did to men. I wrote it because of the hope that even former 1960's radical women are in need of--as dozens have conveyed to me. One very sad consequence of the 1960's equation was the extension of male adolescence--thus no need to commit, thus no need to take responsibility for the emotional, physical, or financial well being of the women being tossed aside. These men were told not to, and they listened.

But a small town girl, who never took a backseat to anyone, has told a different story. One that never was told by the angry voices of the 1960's that has become the predominant view of women today. You can be both equal AND different.

Sarah Palin is living proof...

Barry Hussein is toast.....
Not to beat this to death but remember, Michigan has the worst economy in the country. Our unemployment rate has hovered near 8.0% for several years now, several years.

McCain and Palin appeared in Sterling Heights, a white, middle class town of about 80,000 people. This is the exact place in Macomb County, where the term “Reagan Democrats” comes from. If McCain-Palin could receive such a large, enthusiastic crowd here, with our economic woes, I don’t see how Barry Hussein has a chance.

Palin is lightly experienced. Obama is lightly experienced. Therefore, character, history (personal, professional and family) will play a big role in deciding between them. When it comes down to brass tacks, people will not vote for someone like Obama who has radical, muslim and communist connections in his and his family’s history. Palin is much more a traditional albeit flawed American, with American roots.

Interesting. . .
Kevin,

This is a well stated argument. I like your definitions of "feminism." I'm not quite sold on them however. My idea of feminism is freedom and not philosophy. Sarah Palin is a feminist because she exercises her freedom to fight for her causes and not necessarily "the cause" itself. If a feminist is not subject to create her own way, are feminists relegating women to a different type subjugation altogether thereby replacing one oppressive mentality with another?

Palin Religion vs Obama Religion

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community.

If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.

The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . .

Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.

What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal.

Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
James Cone
New York's Union Theological Seminary

Mentor Wrights' theology is based on the teachings of James Cone.

"It was because of these newfound understandings (at Trinity under Wright) -- that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice...that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity...and be baptized." Barack Obama

Obama knew exactly what his Mentor was teaching.

We should never judge black American citizens by these morons - 2.9 million voted republican in the last election.

Homosexual vs Traditional Marriage

Why did the government become involved in marriage?

Marriage started in 1753 in England and Wales and it was named the Marriage Act of 1753 or Lord Hardwicke's Marriage Act and it called for the couple to be at least 21 years old and if they weren't then they needed the consent of the parent.

Before this law the couple could be as young as seven years old and get married.
They also had to get married in a church or the marriage wouldn't be legal.

The original Marriage Act was the result of the many orphans being abandoned and becoming a burden on society.

The Marriage contract made men responsible for their children relieving society from the financial burden of raising those children and placing it where it belonged.

'Collectivists' always want to take the 'Bad Decisions' and actions of individuals and place the results of those bad actions and decisions on othe American Citizens in the name of 'Sacrifice For The Common Good'.

The Marriage act NEVER had anything to do with sexual preferences but rather the protection of children - which Homosexuals cannot have by definition.

Homosexuals want the rights and benefits extended to those who conceive and bear children even though they are incapable of procreation.

Society by law, decided to extend benefits to the blind.

Analogous to what Homosexuals want by 'Homosexual Marriage' is for a sighted citizen to receive the same rights as someone who is blind.

Homosexuals immediately respond by citing instances where a man and woman are married that are incapable of procreation, because of medical issues.

Present laws do NOT require a medical exam to prove the ability of a couple to procreate before marriage which of course be a violation of privacy rights.

Every American Citizen has the same right to marry someone of the opposite sex as any other American Citizen.

How can anyone hate palin?
she is so isolated from the press, so unready for any kind of interview, even softball questions, that she is not allowed to say anything in public that hasn't been prepared for her over a three day period.

Seems to me, at least
Judging by the title of this column, that conservatives get alot of satisfaction from playing the victim card.

I doubt that anybody "hates" Palin, unless they are someone who actually knew her in Alaska.

To say that femininists "hate" Palin because she is a female with possibly unpopular opinions (but think is right, who will ever know?) is like saying that white males hate Obama because he is Black.

Hm-m-m, maybe there is a point in here.

Retired Geek is partly right about
marriage, but it had nothing to do with Orphans.
very early in that last millennium the government had nothing to do with marriage or divorce, it was strictly personal and social. Fairly early on, however, the Church (which in most cases was also the government, or at least in partnership with it) began to keep marriage records for the sake of land contracts and inheritances, etc. as well as Town and Village histories.

Ultimately, it was incorporated into religious ceremony and then turned into a sacrament, which put the church into full power.

As late as 1700 the church as an institution showed little concern for orphans or mistreated children, indeed, they were often the abusers. In the early 1300s, 1400s, 1500s, sexual abuse of children among the upper classes (who shared close relationships and power with the church) was considered to be acceptable entertainment.

Media Bias
The media is going to try real hard to destroy Sarah Palin.

They have the power to do so, and that by itself is cause for concern.

Arm yourself with the knowledge to counteract their campaign. Learn how they do it so that you may be able to see through the spin, lies and bs.

Radical Moderate
Radical Moderate, I’m a little unclear on your position . . .

Your definition of feminism makes it sound like it’s more important to have the freedom to choose something over what it is you’re choosing. While freedom is essential to make personal choices, we also have to know if those choices will give us freedom.

I can be free to choose to have an abortion. But will having an abortion make me free? Free from depression? Free from future health concerns? Free from breast cancer? Etc.
.
Also, in regards to “oppression”, I think it is both an overused and misused term. True oppression does occur in the world, but often not in the way “feminists” claim. Oppression is often a state of mind. For example, as a member of the Roman Catholic Church, I have heard more than a few women claim they feel oppressed within The Church. I find this interesting, since as a woman, I share none of these same feelings. How can a church that gives so much glory and dignity to motherhood and womanhood be oppressive? How can a church that exalts women (Mary, Jesus’s mother, being a perfect example) be oppressive towards women?

Is feeling oppressed the same as actually being oppressed?

think_4_yourself Says........
"How can anyone hate palin?
she is so isolated from the press, so unready for any kind of interview, even softball questions, that she is not allowed to say anything in public that hasn't been prepared for her over a three day period"

would that be the same press that goes after her children before she even gives her convention speech? Would it be the same press that has been in a frenzy drilling for dirt on her and keeps coming up dry? Maybe it's the same press that fawns over Obama and has yet to ask any tough questions? It might be the same press that protects their "chosen one" at all cost. It might even be the ame press that now thinks women with children are some how not ready to lead the country? Could be that the same press that gives Obama/Biden a pass when they both piled on Hilery and her supporters I suspose.

You would never vote for McCain/Palin so who cares?

I think what you are afraid of is the fact that there are so many Americans that "think_4_yourself".

Sadly,
As far as feminism, and other conservative social issues go, I seem to be seeing alot of back-stepping and dancing around in columns like these in an attempt to put makeup over the hypocrasies. Only a week ago I saw a thread on TH where people argued that sex before marriage was an incorrigible sin and pregnancy outside of marriage was destroying the fabric of our society. Now I'm seeing an argument that it's actually OK when conservatives do it and go on to have unwanted babies in shotgun marriages.

Where is it that you all really stand on this issue?

BEtWyan
I don't want to be argumentative with you, but I don't think Obama is running against Palin, I think he is running against McCain.

Remember him?

PRESS ACCESS FOR SARAH

think_4_yourself parroted the new and latest democrat party line/weeping point -- in use about two days now, that Sarah is afraid/won't give the press access to her.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! She has only been a candidate for one week and one day.

There is freedom of the press, but who appointed them in charge of anything, or told them that they had a RIGHT to interview anybody, including candidates for office.

I for one hope that Sarah continues to tell them to bite sticks because a goodly percentage of the press will lay traps for her, which they will cover lightly with leaves of words.

True Independent
The so-called Feminists and their movement. Is, and always be a one, sided movement to dictate what a woman should be and do. If a woman doesn't agree with them, or fit THEIR ideal of what a woman should be. She is chastised fiercely!

Feminists don't "Hate Palin" because she's female. They hate Sarah Palin because she's a strong, independent, brilliant woman! A true down to earth REAL WOMAN! Something they can never hope to be!

Scary
I think the term 'feminist movement' is ludicrous. Look at these women. I primarily see pinched faces, men's haircuts, scowls, and snarling lips. This is feminine? Listen to them; these women are full of grievance, complaint, bitterness, scorn, and derision. They never laugh, they are never happy. I don't think they like themselves; I know that they don't like anyone else. I think that those who have entered this cult are basically unaccomplished, unhappy, frustrated women who have not been able to master their own environments thus they slash and tear at those women who are more capable. This is a vile, vicious sisterhood where the members eat their young. Scary.

But It's All They Have
We should not be kind in the condemnation of the DNC running-dog lackeys’ attacks on Sarah’s credibility: after all, It's All They Have. It just sux to be a Democrat right now: no real ideas, no fathomable spirituality, and no safety nets under the platform. Surviving the media warthogs is the least of Mrs. Palins’ worries, I think, because the cattiness of the femi-nazi is just getting warmed up. Next, from the worst of them in The View, we’ll hear that her shoes don’t match her skirt (by the way, did you notice that at the GOP acceptance speech last night that a pantsuit was not present?) or, perhaps the media darlings will endlessly discuss the temerity her second youngest daughter displayed to kiss and play with her baby brother when she should have been listening to the speeches: but then, after all, It’s All They Have.

“My friends don’t be distracted by the brown noise and static.” – John Mc Cain, RNC Convention Sept 4, 2008 when protestors tried to interrupt his acceptance speech.

Rush Limbaugh: “Sarah Palin: babies, guns, Jesus. Hot Damn!”

Identity Politics SOP
The established organized 'feminists' are like other organized grievance groups: the orgs such as NOW were founded by Marxists to be the percived only legit voices of their groups, & in the name of those groups to push Marxism as the remedy for those groups' problems.

That's why most of these orgs push a socialist, Marxist line even in matters having little or nothing do w/ their group's interests; indeed they'll support some irrelevant socialist idea like the anthrogenic CO2 induced climate change dogma in ways that actually threaten the interests of the groups they claim to represent. It's also why they have very restricted membership or restricted means for rank-&-file members to affect policy; a small elite leftist cadre determines the group's policy & public statements.

It was actually a stated Communist strategy to establish presure groups w/ socialist agendas in noncommunist countries, in order to harness whatever real or imagined grievances the groups had as a means of promoting socialism to the group members & in the laws & customs of the country itself.

The leftist-controlled established pop media supports them by treating them as being credible & representative & running to their spokespeople to comment on just about any issue remotely related.

Just look at the kinds of things orgs like NOW, NEA/NFT, other big labor unions, NAACP, La Raza, AARP, Rainbow Coalition, the various gay & ostensibly pro-environmental orgs, etc, do & say. Are those positions more likely to actually benefit their claimed constituencies & the larger community, or do they promote big government, arbitrary confiscation, division, hostility, destruction of societal foundations, & destabilization of the country?

Feminists
Very interesting article and true. The feminist movement wasn't about rights then and in hindsight it never was. It was the Women's Rights movement that was effective and needed.

The Civil Rights movement has followed the same path.

Both groups were desperately needed and both fought for us ALL to have the rights we deserved to have. Through blood, sweat, and lots of tears we finally got those rights.

Both groups have now become parodies of their original group. As long as you're part of their "group" you can do no wrong. The minute you are perceived as "different" you are subject to ridicule and "scare tactics." Hence the attacks on women such as Sarah Palin and black men such as Bill Cosby.

Today instead of equal rights, it's become something akin to victimization. If you can't play the victim then these groups aren't interested in you.

It's sad to think that people younger than 30 or so will never understand when women's rights groups and civil rights groups were desperately needed. All they will ever know is this shameful "evil twin" that both groups offer today.

Katz
You described feminists, or women who care about women's rights as: Look at these women. I primarily see pinched faces, men's haircuts, scowls, and snarling lips.

Since you live in Texas, I'm not too suprised that women look the way you describe. Maybe you should move.

Harry
"would that be the same press that goes after her children ..."

If you think Palin is ready to be commander-in-cheif, don't you think she should be made of stronger stuff than running from a press that is hard on her?

When Clinton was commander in chief it was you guys who accused him of murder, drug trafficking, treason, and his wife of nymphomania. McCain himself made dirty jokes about their 12-year-old daughter's looks.

Why are you so sensitive all of a sudden? Are you saying that it was OK to say these things about Clinton (or Obama for that matter) but that Palin is off limits?

If she can't take the heat, she should get out of the kitchen and stop whining.

McCullough asks
"Why do "modern" feminists, etc."

I don't know of any other columnist, even the worst ones, like Giles or Ham, who still say things like "modern".

True Independent?
You aren't really.
I haven't heard anyone say that Palin's daughter did not sin.
But what is her daughter's sin being compared with by the drive-bys and Democrat propaganda makers. What do you want?
Do you want us to hit this young girl in the head with a stone?
Jesus did not when given the opportunity.
Are we holding every mother in this country responsible for the sins their children commit?
It isn't my mothers fault when I sin or sinned in the past. Do you blame your mother for your evil ways?
Now if Sarah sins that is another story.

True Independent
You apparently believe that feminists are women who care about women's rights. I disagree with your premise. I would be inclined to think that these women have a deep and abiding hatred of other women if those women are attractive, competent, secure in themselves, and accomplished. I think that words like grievance, discontent, and jealousy would be appropriately applied to the 'feminists.' And I haven't noticed any difference in the appearances of these women nationally, so I don't believe that the state of residence has any bearing on outward manifestation. Check out some print media photos sometime if you don't travel much.

as usual the truth is in the middle
The article is true, but not original. People have been saying for thousands of years that women and men are sisters and brothers in equal standing under God's eyes--NOT THE SAME, though. There has never been shame in being the childbearer, or the cook, while the man went out to drag home dinner!

However, somewhere along the way, some caveman started saying he was more important and the cavewoman believed it. It's taken women this long to get the legal right to vote, to learn, to own property...is it any wonder there are great quantities of women who still believe that original caveman? These are the women who believe that my choice to stay home to raise children is a sacrifice to our family income and a waste of my college degree.

These women talk a big game about "having it all" but they don't really believe it! Now we have a generation of women BORN IN THE MID-LATE 60's who ARE having it all. We have secure, masculine husbands who support us in more ways than just money. (mine does laundry all weekend AND mows the yard) We are partners--equals in parenting, earning, owning, learning...

So what does the "old guard" like steinem and clinton do when they realize they've exhausted their whole life on bitterness while their daughters have struck a balance? They attack. And so do the far right women who disdained an education for themselves and sunk their whole selves into some caveman.

Sarah Palin can handle the "heat," independent, she and Todd have been chopping the wood, lighting the fires, and cooking the dinner!

Baby Phobics

It is very strange to see grown people freaking about the thought of tiny little helpless babies being born.

What makes Leftie Losers so hysterically phobic about these defenseless infants that they practically climb up on the nearest chair and scream "Kill it! Kill it!" like a 4-year-old discovering a tiny spider crawling across the floor.

I believe that the extreme Left suffer from a culturally induced mental disorder that can only be cured by a heavy dose of truth coupled with an authentically open, logical mind.

Is there any hope for these people?

So far, all the self-medicating they do doesn't seem to help.

My mother
is another "classical" feminist. She went to medical school and then residency in the 50s, and gave birth to me and my brother and sister between '58 and '61. As a boy in the 60s and a teen in the 70s, I watched the loudmouthed feminists like Steinem demanding respect, while Mom was quietly earning it. She is now comfortably retired and living with my father. They recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary. They are very much in love. She doesn't feel oppressed by him. It is because of pioneers like Mom, not the Steinems and Dworkins, that medical and law school classes are 50% female today. She was the only female in a class of 120, and she graduated 4th in her class.

It isn't about women
"Feminism" as they understand it now is about an agenda- socialist and self-serving. Watching what they are trying to do to Palin merely proves to me what I have guessed about them since the 70s. They aren't about women.

Oprah rejects Pitt Bull Palin as guest

In a typical leftist move, Oprah refused to have Sarah Palin on her show, even though the Governor of Alaska is the first woman to be on a ticket as Vice President in over 20 years.

I thought that Oprah cared so much about having women in leadership that she opened that school in Africa to train girls to be leaders.

Apparently, if those woman are not Leftist leaders, they need not apply as far as Oprah is concerned.

Her claim that she is not having any candidates on her Chicago-based show rings hollow when you consider that she not only brought Barak Obama on the program, but also endorsed him.

To paraphrase Malone from the Untouchables, the politics in Chicago "stinks like a wh0rehouse at low tide."

Barry Hussien's buddies....
Barry Hussien doesn't want us to use his middle name. Gee, I wonder why?

His father: African muslim with communist leanings.

Step-father: Indonesian muslim with communist leanings.

Mother: radical hippie chick with communist leanings.

Preacher: racial, USA hating, "black liberation" activist.

Close friend: W. Ayers, radical, bomb-throwing hippie terrorist.

Wife Michelle: radical black activist.

Biggest supporters: Oprah Winfrey and George Soros.

Enough said.

McCain-Palin victory by a comfortable margin.

Then in January 2009, we oppose McCain on amnesty and insist on enforcing immigration law!

chick fight...
No girls, ladies and unclassified (such as T.I). Nothing uglier than women fighting and the world cheers because we make a spectacle of ourselves.
I am a lady,a Christian conservative, a mom, a wife, a business woman. I was raised in a 3rd world country with staunch family and Roman Catholic values. There we the ladies who men married and the "others". For 30+ years now the rest of the world has the impression that women in America are all the "others" due mostly due to Hollywood and the media.
Women are stronger than men in many different ways (biologically, for example). Yet, men compliment us. We become one in a male /female marriage as our contributions perfectly match the other.
Sarah Palin will be the first Vice President of the United States. If the all women in this country truly valued what they call the "feminist" movement they would blindly vote for her. If they don't they are EITHER TRUE HYPROCRITES OR they are women like me who value true character, integrity and a person who can become a radical role model for future generations.
I am sick and tired with the myopic focus on gender diversity in this country. What a waste of resources. Where are the intelligent persons debating alternative energy theories, encouraging the next generation to excel in math, science and all other intellectual matters???
THROW OUT OUR TVs. My family did years ago. True feminism is an expression of moral and spiritual values not a debate about forcing society to accept human deviance as a civil right.
Watch and learn: McCain/Palin will win in November, 4th, 2008.

Mountain Rose
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I often shake my head and wonder "why is it so important to these people to be able to kill babies?" I don't know the answer. I only know sadly that it is true. Abortion is the defining thing for them no matter what the issue is. And worse yet they try to hide their true position with euphemisms like "choice" etc. because deep in their hearts they no it is wrong and others will disapprove.

They are pathetic.

Kevin
While I agree that the modern “feminists” are not true feminsists I do not agree that they are some other “feminine” outreach group. What I see is that they are a socialist victimology group whose only desire is to seek fame and forrtune through promoting radical socialism and communism. IN fact, I would be willing to bet that the seed money to start these groups to begin with came from the KGB which funded ost of the other radical groups of the 60s.

NO women have achieved “equal rights” long ago. All these groups promote now is radical leftest causes and abortion on demand for anyone at anytime for any reason.

Wisdom
My five-year old daughter told me she wanted to be a waitress when she grew up. I corrected her and told her men and women are now called "servers". She said, "I am proud of being a girl and do not want to be called the same thing a boy is called." Wisdom.

Why aren't current feminists (femi-nazi's) proud of being girls?

To Robyn in GA et al:
I agree with your post. Might I add the 800 lb gorilla in the parlor everyone pretends not to notice:

The so-called feminists of western society would positively croak for Sarah Palin if she'd had an abortion.

The baby she loves quite comfortably in public; a Downs baby-- makes the leftist feminists cringe. His birth is inexcusable to each and every one of those unholy shrews.

Abortion is their flimsy litmus test and always will be. As Rush Limbaugh often demands to know-- WHY are these women infuriated over any baby who ESCAPES the abortionist's knife?

Sarah Palin may once again puncture their inflated balloon of feminist loathing.

It wouldn't surprise me if she becomes president of this country; and eventually gives birth once MORE!

. . . to a splendid new child; while occupying the White House! Would THAT be a historical occasion!!! Sarah has the guts to do just THAT! Glory to God in the highest!

I need your help
I just wrote a letter to the McCain campaign national headquarters asking them to withdraw Sarah Palin's name as the VP nominee. I think this media circus has gone on long enough. These kids (her daughter and future son-in-law) don't deserve to go through this. If she gets stressed out enough, she risks harming the baby, I fear. I suggest others write too:

John McCain 2008
PO Box 16118
Arlington, VA 22215

If Gov. Palin resigns, the media whores will lay off the young couple and they can get some peace, as they look forward to the baby's arrival.

"A miscarriage is as tragic as an abortion."

o ye of little faith!

Dear Jeffrey of MI

What a GUTLESS reaction!

Go ahead write gutless letters. I suspect the American public will reject any "media circus" you foresee. You were only introduced to Palin last Wednesday and already show the white feather! Either this, OR--

Feminists Don't Represent All Women
Great article! If anything, I think that this Sarah Palin controversy has unmasked the true intentions of these so-called feminists. I have been outraged by their attacks on Governor Sarah Palin!

They have now joined in on attacking Governor Palin for being a working mother. Following their line of reasoning, here's what they are saying - A women should have the right to kill her own baby but not the right to decide whether or not she wants to work?

These "feminist" women make me sick! I hope that more women will stand up against them and let America know that they are a large number of us who don't like them or their views.

One way that I surely intend to do so is by voting for McCain/Palin in my home state of Ohio.

The only thing Palin
shares with Hillary Clinton is a chromosome. Otherwise, she is just Phyllis Schafley, only younger and hotter.

Katz
I know many, many women who consider themselves to be feminists and are in fact would anyone would call "liberated."

Not one of your statements apply to any of them. Most of them are quite good looking, some are beautiful, some are for choice, others are not, some work outside the home, some do not, and if any of them were angry, unhappy, mean-spirited or dangerous I would not count them among my friends (in a couple of cases, lovers).

It appears that YOur picture of what goes on in this world is based on second and third hand impressions that you get from people like this columnist and older cranky malcontents like Retired Geek and Anne. I would bet serious money that you wouldn't recognize and actual, living, breathing feminist if she walked in your front door.

Oh-oh, the 1960s just called and want your ideas returned to them.

Joycey
That's right, keep her proud of being a "simple woman" - then she can grow up reaching for her dream job of always being a waitress and never owning the restaurant.

Meathead socon tries to think
Only fellow simpletons would think that Palin has excelled in anything other than blowing her own horn. The facts of her life speak a very different story than what her supporters trumpet. Dismissing criticism as the work of feminists is irrational. The intellectuals on the right are horrified by this VP pick. Krauthammer and Noonan can barely keep their dismay under wraps.

And her husband is clearly not hetero. By the way, why is the "q" word "unacceptable" on this site?

Mountain Rose
"Oprah rejects Pitt Bull Palin as guest"

Why are conservatives always whining about "rejection"? Winfrey announced long ago that she wasn't having any candidates on her show until after the election, yet you are busy sobbing into your prune juice because she won't make an exception for conservatives.

That mean old press!! They just don't understand the double standard, do they?

Joycey
"Now if Sarah sins that is another story."

Except it won't be. It will be shmoozed over and rationalized away just like the others.

Just want to clarify
before I go: I am free to be honest about my opinions of Palin because I am independent. Like Michael Savage, I am free to think she is foolish without being a liberal.

If I vote for McCain it will have nothing to do with Palin, it will be because I am pretty sure that all this pandering to religious right is for votes only, and soon after 1/1 he will be the John McCain that he was for over 30 years. As for Palin, I'm sure he will find plenty of wildlife for her to dress.

Barry a muslim......
In case some of you don't know, in Islam, a subject that I'm well versed in, if you father is a muslim, you are considered a muslim. Period.

Barry Hussien may not be a practicing muslim, and I don't believe he is, but to Islam and Imams, he is still considered a muslim.

Islam is a political ideology as well as religion. That's why it is imperative that Western nations limit the immigration of muslims into their nations. For the more muslims, the more sharia law is spread and backwardness, including gross sexism and second class status against women, is strengthened.

It's the immigration, stupid.

Today's feminists are thought police
who concern themselves with what they believe others are thinking, and set out to change the perceived (or real) thoughts of others.

True feminists, or real women, don't care what others think. They focus on themselves and what they can achieve with or without approval or help.

Gloria Steinem, whose wealthy boyfriend now husband, financed her every endeavor- is nothing but a gas bag with a sugar daddy. The Steinem crowd hates Palin because she's truly accomplished and not pompous about it, and NOT one of the cackling victim cow crowd they run with. This is great!

Jeffrey
You've got to be kidding! She should withdraw for the 'good' of her child? Don't you mean you're afraid that with Sarah on the ticket that Obomination will surely lose?

you libs
are quite funny actually. The lengths you go to to make your straw men stand. So many explanations to be made, but then, why waste effort on someone that lack the reason to make simple distinctions. TH has been getting funnier and funnier with all the lib reaction to Sarah Palin and her family.

Wendy, putting the plane on ebay alone
is a great accomplishment! My family is from the Gig Harbor area, and the politics out there are almost as corrupt as NJ- athough we hold the trophy for political corruption in the US- the "Soprano State", as it were!

What we've got, Wendy, is a decision. Do we want to empower government to have yet more control over more lives and access to even more income (which is why jobs leave our shores- you know from what goes on at Boeing). Obama's experience is in exactly what causes more problems. That's what attorneys and bureaucrats do-complicate matters in the most costly of ways.

Or do we want someone who has a track record of doing exactly what improves problems- like addressing corruption and favoring energy independence?

In my line of work, I see Obama's hope and change in application every day- and it $uks.

oldsocialworker
Re-Elect Rossi!

Savage called her a "gold rush hussy"
"before I go: I am free to be honest about my opinions of Palin because I am independent. Like Michael Savage, I am free to think she is foolish without being a liberal."

True baby....Savage called her "white trash" and a "gold rush hussy".

How sad and foolish of him. All the while he hawks his book on his program. Go figure.

Rating 'modern' feminists
We can now quantify their ugliness:
Simply ask them how many abortions shy of being qualified for high office is Sarah Palin. An answer of 'Five' warrants five stars, etc. However, there can be no one-star category on this scale, because to view the abortion of a Down syndrome baby as a qualifier earns the respondent an extra five stars.

Savage
is an embarrassing wart on the sphincter of conservatism. The orifice for waste removal/emissions is encumbered by his presence. If he would leave we could expel a lot of other so-called conservatives that continue to screw up the process.

Widower
I spent the last 30 years in Brazil, married to a wonderful, sweet, beautiful, feminine woman.
At the same time she was a very tough and incorruptible federal judge. She passed away 4 years ago.
I returned to the US 3 years ago hoping to find a new partner. I found American women, for the most part, angry, neurotic, ugly, robotic and vulgar to the extreme, not to mention very artificial both physically and intellectually.
The "modern feminist" movement has indeed bought great damage to both American men and women. Men have become unappealing due to their softening and almost delicate nature while most women have become hard, cynical mercenaries.
When I arrived here, I decided to start dating again and joined a couple of computer dating sites where, in the first week I received 128 "hits" and met 8 different women in person.
I decided to go "undercover", by not disclosing the true nature of my financial standing, by acquiring a 20 year old car and rental of a nice but small apartment.
That was an excellent way to cull out the "candidates".
Sarah Palin is indeed living proof that America still has a few great women who happen to be feminine and accomplished simultaneously, I think that, in the next few years she will influence many young girls in a positive fashion who then won't need neurosis therapy on a regular basis.

Let's Pull Together for Bristol
I just wrote a letter to the McCain campaign national headquarters asking them to withdraw Sarah Palin's name as the VP nominee. I think this media circus has gone on long enough. These kids (her daughter and future son-in-law) don't deserve to go through this. If she gets stressed out enough, she risks harming the baby, I fear. I urge others to write too:

John McCain 2008
PO Box 16118
Arlington, VA 22215

If Gov. Palin resigns, the liberal media whores will lay off the young couple and they can get some peace, as they look forward to the baby's arrival.

there are days that i can listen to this guy & he makes sense. then there are times when he rants about & belittles conservatives who are apparently not conservative enough for his liking. he used to be a left wing radical, perhaps he has purged himself of the left wing idealogy but certainly not the radicalness (if that qualifies as a word).

Egon...
you had me nodding in agreement until you got to the part about tricking women with the old car and rented sham apartment. That's a little bit creepy, my friend...

For the record...try finding a nice woman in a book club or house of worship...I think an elegant, high-powered judge-type woman would not be looking for love online....

jeffrey
i'm sure if the palin family were here they would say "thank you for your concern, i am sure you are sincere. now mind your own business."

Read this for your daughters!
Senator Clinton and Governor Palin are proof that women can and do diverge on important issues.

Even on the question of whether women should vote!

Most people are totally in the dark about HOW the suffragettes won votes for women, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

Suffragettes were opposed by many women who were what was known as 'anti.'

The most influential 'anti' lived in the White House. First Lady Edith Wilson was a wealthy Washington widow who married President Wilson in 1915.

Her role in Wilson's decision to jail and torture Alice Paul and hundreds of other suffragettes will never be fully known, but she was outraged that these women picketed her husband's White House.

I'd like to share a women's history learning opportunity...

"The Privilege of Voting" is a new free e-mail series that follows eight great women from 1912 - 1920 to reveal ALL that happened to set the stage for women to win the vote.

It's a real-life soap opera! And it's ALL true!

Poerful suffragettes Alice Paul and Emmeline Pankhurst are featured, along with TWO gorgeous presidential mistresses, First Lady Edith Wilson, Edith Wharton, Isadora Duncan and Alice Roosevelt.

There are tons of heartache on the rocky road to the ballot box, but in the end, women WIN!

Thanks to the suffragettes, women have voices and choices!

Exciting, sequential episodes are great to read on coffeebreaks, or anytime.

So-Called Modern Feminists
Practicing the politics of "Offspring Destruction" and are left with nothing but the gnarring, bitter hole in the void that was once their soul.

Weep and howl you witless, raging lunatics, bereft of human compassion and any modicum of grace.

jeffrey, nice satire!
at first I thought you were serious!! What a card! hahahaha

As if a family as tight as the Palins wouldn't have discussed this and decided together...

hahaha, you are makin' me laugh out loud!

JEFFREY
Have you noticed the women's movement has been taken over by the left wing? If a woman's only right is to choose on the matter of abortion, that is pretty pathetic.
The real issues facing women have been around for decades, equal pay for equal work, equal oppertunity in the work place, a husband that helps at home instead of plopping down in the recliner and expecting a waitress and maid to come along, and recognition for the REAL contribution women make to stability in the world.
Your solution sounds like more ' keep them home and pregnant '.

Go to lloydpweaver.net for more of my ramblings.

Mark Levin
Levin refers to NOW as the National Organization of Ugly Women. I couldn't agree more. That's another reason they hate Palin.

McCain vs Obama
Obama is even getting into the fray over Palin. He made comments against her and earmarks. I thought he was running against McCain not Palin. The Democrats appear to be running very scared.

Sarah Palin--Too Much!
4: Palin Slashed Funding for Teen Moms

Not many pregnant teens are as privileged as Bristol Palin. And for those who are not, Sarah Palin made things a little harder a few months ago when she used a line-item veto to cut funding for a transitional home for teen moms in Alaska. According to the Washington Post:

After the legislature passed a spending bill in April, Palin went through the measure reducing and eliminating funds for programs she opposed. Inking her initials on the legislation -- "SP" -- Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.
According to Passage House's Web site, its purpose is to provide "young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives" and help teen moms "become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families."
(It certainly doesn't sound like the teen moms were joyriding in Cadillacs on the government's dime, but you never know.)

In classic "compassionate" conservative fashion, Palin opposes programs that teach girls how not to get pregnant, lobbies against their right to decide whether to have a child, then kills social programs that exist to cushion the impact of those policies. She then has the gall to trot out her own pregnant daughter as a symbol for "family values."

Modern Feminists hate Sarah Palin

Modern Feminists say if Sarah Palin was Pro-Choice she would be the best representative of the American woman.

Modern Feminists say: Since Sarah Palin is Pro-Life, she represents all that is wrong with women but and all humanity as well.

We have a choice this election

America has a choice between two lawyers or two NON lawyers.

We all know how lawyers look out for us.

So, what?
So Democratic tool feminists are attacking a Republican poster child... Who cares? You act as if they have any sort of credibility outside of their own circles. If you think their arguments are baseless and unfounded... Treat them as such and ignore them.

Move on, folks... Nothing to see here.

the decent democrats need to recind Obama's nomination and replace him with Hillary

Hillary has her faults: HOWEVER she will not crawl into the sewer with Obama and his sleaze merchants:

Hillary will not destroy this country

Hillary actually loves the USA

Sarah Palin is not an exception
Sarah Palin is NOT an exception - there are millions of women like her.

When I first read the Palin resume, I thought I was reading the resume of my wife or one of my daughters or hundreds of other women I have worked with.

Strong, smart, exceptional shot with a handgun or rifle. Career of excellence, good mother able to out fish most anyone.

Multi-tasker, common sense able to handle almost any job, home and family.

Strong values and fearless in the face of anyone trying to attack her husband or children.

I have said for years, I fear no man and only one woman - the fear that I might fall short of her faith in me, her trust, her confidence.

She has been my best friend and advocate 42 years - long live women like my wife and Sarah Palin.

It doesn't take a village to raise a child - it takes a father and mother to raise them and one of them has to put bread on the table - why does it matter which one?

Honor Killing
What we are witnessing against is nothing less than a political *honor killing*.

Like the girl who disobeys the family and is killed because of it, Sarah Palin refuses to play by the rules of the feminist establishment and therefore must be eliminated.

Shameful.

Upon further reflection, Sarah Palin is the Grim Reaper for the liberal "feminists" and the Democratic Party.
All the Dems victories since the 1970s have been completely dependent on two voting blocks, blacks and women.

Look at this from the perspective of a Dem strategist. If Palin is elected, she is perfectly positioned to run for President in either 2012 or 2016 (assuming McCain chooses to run for a second term).
If Palin is the first female VP, then the first female President, then the Republicans can become the party of women.

If this happens, the Dems lose a significant chuck of their largest voting bloc, and are looking at the black hole of becoming a minority party for a generation.
So, they will (and MUST) do ANYTHING necessary to prevent Palin from taking office and becoming the flagbearer for a migration of women to the Republican Party.

Perhaps she believes these teen moms and their babies are better off at home being taken care of by loving parents and grandparents. Or is that not an option according to the liberal mindset??

In actuality, Palin merely doubled the funding, rather than tripling it as the legislature wanted.
Only in liberal-land is doubling something a "cut".

L
You are entitled to your opinions but you are not entitled to your facts. Before repeating the story that Palin slashed the funding for teen moms, you need fact checker. The funding increased by an amount less than some had proposed.

Right and Wrong
According to the media, everything about Palin is wrong. That is enough to convince me to vote for her.

Rescue the WHAT?

Dear Rescue,

When you pay people to engage in an activity, they do it more often.

If you refuse to pay little girls to get pregnant and move out on their own, perpetuating and expanding the welfare state, you will get less of this behavior.

If mommy and daddy have to foot the bill for wayward daughters, they are going to actually teach them to keep their lucky jeans zipped.

If we return to calling wayward girls unflattering one-syllable names, and make them choose between marrying the fathers, giving up the child to adoption, or letting the grandparents raise the child, the social stigma of catting around is going to deter them from acting like trollops.

Which is exactly the point I was trying to make in my post, but maybe I should have clarified my line of thinking. Young girls are more likely to receive this kind of admonition from their parents if they are at home, rather than in a taxpayer funded half-way house.

McCain/Palin 2008

The 1920s?
You listed some of the vital characteristics of what you claim we feminists had achieved in the 1920s and claim that we who were still fighting for these things in the 1960s and 1970s were somehow OTT. I graduated from university in 1970 and believe me, at that time businesses were still paying men a *family wage* and Girls in *pin money* because Girls did not need money (we all had husbands, dontchaknow), women could not get credit in our own names (the Pregnancy thing, ya know) or sign leases without having them co-signed by A Man (my Daddy was retired on disability but his signature was legal and mine was not) or get a job for which we were qualified without threatening them with the Labour Relations Board and then were treated, well, like Sarah Palin is being treated now.

We cared nothing at all about gender identity or Free Love (Daddy taught us that there is no such thing, just as in Free Lunch somebody always has to pay) or any of that crapola. In the 1960s and 1970s blue collar women were still fighting for those basic 1920s rights.

1000 pardons, Lynne, #89
Your argument is very well stated. After reading it, it's obviously unfair that anyone would refer to you and your feminist sisterhood as:

looking a little intimidated by Palin or
being female attack dogs or
being at times, less than rational.

Your comments about keeping your emotions in check are particularly well expressed. And the use of the term 'trailer trash' is an elegant description.

From the bottom of my neanderthal conservative heart, thanks for so cogently conveying the gracefully refined positions of the 'party of the downtrodden'.

Retired geek.

Keep up the good work, my friend.

I SO wish that I had the time to spend to refute the rantings and the ravings of the left, but my mailman just keeps on delivering those darned bills.

But we all know that it's the moderate center that we're all after... the ones who will tip this election for McCain/Palin and chart a new and a better course for all of us.

So go get 'em, geek.

ProChoice
We have all long known that "ProChoice" is nothing more than a euphemism for ProAbortion and the current attack on the Palins--Sarah and Bristol, just goes to prove it. The only choice acceptable to ProChoicers is abortion. Just go back and look at the reaction to the movie Juno. The whole left ranted about how the movie was anti abortion because Juno "chose" to have her baby.

Long term, an another issue along with the left's pro abortion choices, is their choice not to have children (because they are too busy with their "me-first" lifestyles). Look at the demographics of the most hard core liberal areas of our country and you will see that there are far fewer children being born there than the national average.

Of course these people are no dummies. They realize that the majority of children in the United States are being born into conservative households, which in many cases include a strong religious faith. Hence, the left hijacked our schools to make sure that these children are not "abused" by their parents--i.e. reared as Christians and are properly taught to be good little "Liberals". Even though they can't be bothered to have the children themselves they sure want to make certain that they get to raise the children of

I will take Gov Palins
inexperience over Obama's inexperience. There are unknowns about both of them but for Obama, the risks seem greater in that he has said in his book that he has been long attracted to radicals. Why? Who in all his associations taught him the patriotism he now espouses....Rev Wright? Bill Ayres? Frank Davis his communist mentor? His indonesian muslin step-father?

Sarah Palins experiences are known to must of us,... high school sweetheart, small town upbringing, high school sports, hunter and fisherwoman, family, christian, optimistic american, educated, intelligent. So she needs to know more about who is the president of Pakistan or how many troops are in Afganistan. She can do that with the help of advisors and appointees.

"Feminists" hate Palin
because she is pro life, the irony being of course, that Gloria Steinem has zero chance of becoming pregnant. She does not want you to become pregnant either. She deplore the way that men "exploit" women yet encourage this exploitation through promiscuity and the refusal to force men to commit to protecting their women and children. They also hate anybody who believes in God.

Liberals vs. liberals
Circular logic is practically a trademark of liberals.

TrueIndependent writes that Retired Geek is only partly right that government got involved in marriage because of orphans.

He/she attempts to refute this point by claiming that the church was a form of de facto government. But then TI destroys his own discussion by claiming that in the 1700's the church abandoned orphans.

If you check Retired Geek's post again you'll see that this argument SUPPORTS Retired Geek, who claims that the first Marriage Act was in 1753 and it made men responsible for their children.

BTW - the very question "Why does government get involved in marriage?" is circular and self-defeating in its logic. Liberals claim God has no place in government so there can be no other 'sponsor' of marriage (by liberal definition) than government. In fact, it is liberals who want government to force the rest of us to recognize gay marriages as marriages.

Then we have the issue of shielding Palin from "the press". What liberals mean by this is that they want her to go on "Hardball" or "The View" so she can be interrupted, shouted down, mocked, and ridiculed the way Michelle Malkin and Sean Hannity were.

And yet, in the midst of this whine, we get news that Oprah won't have Palin on her show. Oprah, as we know, is an Obama supporter. Oprah claims she doesn't want to turn her show into a political forum, but that didn't stop her from having Michelle Obama as a guest.

Liberal ideology is a process that denies and frustrates everything that it claims to promote.

What in the heck are you talking about????? You said:

"Sarah Barracuda by her own admission is a pit bull with lipstick. How do you expect her opponents to react? Are they just supposed to roll over and play dead while she insults, mocks, demeans and lies about THEM? Any woman who can "field dress a moose" after she shoots it shouldn't need to be coddled and treated with kid gloves. She can't have it both ways. She can't come out with guns blazing like she did at the convention and not expect to get some firepower returned. About divisive rhetoric? The Republicans own that one all by themselves. Stop whining! Sarah Barracuda is no dignified lady like Kay Bailey Hutchinson. She will get back what she is asking for!"

In what way did Sarah Palin insult, mock, demean or lie about ANYONE in her speech at the RNC? In what way did she "come out with guns blazing?" In what way is she not a dignified lady? I would like to see some specifics here, because right now I'm thinking you're just a liberal in disguise, which is EXACTLY the group of people who ARE lying, demeaning and smearing Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin
It is great to know there are still, honest and people of integrity out there. Sarah is a breath of fresh air in our politics. I pray she is strong enough to stay that way in our government today, where we see senators resign and go back home cause they feel they can do more for the people there.

The Covenant House story is a great example of how figures don't lie, but liars figure.

Covenant House's director has been interviewed repeatedly, and says there was no reduction. There was in fact an increase. The lie is born out of a request for a long-term funding project. Palin chose to spread the grant over the period of the special project the request was funding, rather than award a large amount all at once.

They got an increase, not a cut.

sophist
"America will see through your hypocrisy."

Speaking of hypocrisy, when conservatives used to criticize Hillary Clinton, we were told that we didn't like "strong, intelligent women" (what that has to do with Hillary, I'll never know).

Sarah Palin is strong and intelligent enough not to let the NOW do her thinking for her, and that's driving you even crazier than you were before.

FEMINISTS SHOOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT ?
I understand why the feminists disagree with some of Sarah Palin's views, like abortion, and I understand their disappointment at loosing Hillary as the first female President, or Vice President. But, now they have a real chance to elect the first ever female Vice President. A woman who exemplifies so many amazing qualities, including her successes and 85% approval rating as Alaska's governor, mother of five, and the whole nine yards. In addition to breaking the glass ceiling, Palin can finally bring about tremendous reforms for women. As International abuses keep coming to light regarding women's rights, including everything from burkas, to white slavery, to honor killings, you would certainly think that women would be tripping over themselves to elevate one of their own to such a high position. What a shame the feminists are so petty that they can't see the big picture, set aside their conflicting grievances, and make a couple of concessions, in order to progress in such a big way.

"and am not subject to the same standards of civil discourse."

Typical liberalism. You want to make the rules for everyone else, but you reserve the right to exempt yourselves. That's the essence of hypocrisy.

"No one can dispute the fact that Obama has taken the high road his entire campaign. All class!"

I dispute it. Since Obama's poll numbers are falling, I suspect many other Americans are also disputing it.

sophist
"You mean giving her a free pass and not asking any serious questions yet?"

If you think the media has been giving Sarah Palin a free pass, then you obviously haven't kept up with the news. So much for your credibility.

"Real feminists don't play victim to avoid tough questions."

So Hillary doesn't qualify as a "real feminist" then, huh?

sophist
"Why don't you list Obama's dirty tricks?"

Some of his leading staff have been involved in the slander against Sarah Palin and her daughter. Obama said he'd fire anyone who did such things, but thus far he hasn't.

Yeah, sophist
"The mean ole nasty press asked how heading up the AK national guard qualified as foreign policy experience..."

It may not be much, but it beats Obama's.

You've pretty well made my point that Obama hasn't take as high a road as you'd like people to believe. Keep on raving. Every time you open your big mouth, you give ten more votes to McCain.

sophist
"Prove it. Until then, you are a full of crap liarand hypocrite."

Why should I have to prove it? You've already admitted it.

"Everyone is sooooooo MEAN to poor little Sarah!"

Don't worry, she can take it. Obama obviously can't.

"Asking tough questions! How dare they!"

Too bad they don't ask any of Obama.

ImpeachBush
So you're saying Jesus was a shakedown artist? What Bible do you read, assuming you have one and can read?

SOPHIE: What tough questions have EVER been asked of Obama that he could answer with a straight face had he been put on the spot?

What exactly was dirty about Mrs. Palin's speech? What lies did she tell? Specifics, please.

sophist
"The pitbull's whole speech was dirty."

Yeah, she only told the truth. What a dirty trick!

"I had to take a shower after it was so disgusting."

I wish Michael Moore had done the same.

"I am not a member of his campaign."

If you were, it would explain why he's going down in the polls.

"Just a mouthy liberal."

You said it; I didn't.

What really matters here
I am a Christian conservative white male, post-baby boomer. I have a college degree in political science and worked for a former U.S. congressman in my early career years. I became highly jaded and cynical in the intervening years, though, as I watch liberals work overtime to try to destroy all that is the best about this great nation. Even more distressing, I watched and did nothing while most conservatives and Republicans also did nothing and thereby allowed liberals’ destructive efforts (through the ACLU, NOW, MSM, activist judges, etc.) to flourish to the point where this country has been greatly changed for the worse.

The solid moral codes and ethics that our predecessors lived by, which helped to defeat radical change and evil at every turn, were hammered on relentlessly by those whose beliefs were antithetical to all that our founders relied upon, cherished, and sought to preserve through the generations. The liberal mindset, however, in their ignorance and pride, sought to make specific changes in this country in order to justify or affirm their own bad behaviors and life choices. Liberals today actually believe they hold mainstream beliefs and are the standard-bearer for knowing what is right for all of us, though what they cling to, in all its forms, is the culture of death, and not life as it is meant for us to be lived.

I became cured of my cynicism last week, however, when Sarah Palin took the stage in Minneapolis. I have become a “born again” Republican, filled with hope, enthusiasm, and, above all, a sense of pride in my party (albeit tentatively), and in where this country can become even greater than it already is. And that continued greatness will happen through the structures, systems, conventions, and traditions upon which our nation is based, and not on some leftist’s notion of a direction where America should go.

What really matters - Part 2
We will not be hijacked by extreme left thought or practice, which is where Senator Obama would take us. We will not be undermined in our efforts to remain as the strongest, and most influential, country in the world. We will not allow all the innumerable, destructive, and truly insane practices of the left to ruin all that we are capable of becoming through those quality Christian conservative principles that Sarah Palin so clearly (to us on the right) embodies. I have had the privilege to work shoulder-to-shoulder with many women like her through the years. And the thought of somebody, who is like these other phenomenal women in my life, can be rightly seated in the Vice-President’s office (and perhaps one day in the Oval Office) is pleasantly astounding to me, my family, and my friends.

The left demonizes people like Sarah Palin, and the millions of vilified (and formerly disaffected) Christian conservatives in this country, because she places at the top of her hierarchy a holy God of justice, wisdom, love, mercy, and grace. On the other hand, the left places at the top of their hierarchy the almighty Self. Their most prominent characteristics are self-congratulations on their own perception of their intellect, their “good works”, and their open-mindedness (read that last, “closed-heartedness”). In this entire thread zilian Pitbull put it best when she stated that today’s co-opted feminism is all about “…forcing society to accept human deviance as a civil right.” I would say that this description extends to all that liberalism has become, especially since most liberals (including some religious institutions, such as the Episcopal Church USA, for example) had long ago jettisoned a moral code based on a faith in a holy God for a faith based on relativism and “whatever makes me feel good is good”.
(and one more to come...)

What really matters here - end
So go ahead, liberals, and argue the small and petty stuff all you want. Just know that I represent just one in a legion of millions who have been re-energized by Sarah Palin. My wife and I are, in fact, going to see her and Senator McCain in person this week to hear more about how they will work to restore (read that, “change”) the order in Washington. The more they go out to speak to the people, the more their popularity will increase over these next two months. And the more their popularity increases, the greater the divide in the poll numbers will ensue.

And this is why the media and the liberal establishment are so visceral in their attacks on John McCain and on Sarah Palin. Liberals’ almighty Selves cannot begin to cope with the idea that their own beloved savior is going to be defeated in the election. Their self-rage (explaining this would take another long message to you liberals, but most conservative Christians will know exactly my meaning here), which turned to Bush-rage in 2001, is now Palin-rage. And with every vitriolic and scurrilous attack on her liberals do nothing more to reveal their own hearts as well as reveal to people like me just how important it is to mobilize and work toward a victorious election for McCain/Palin.

And that scares liberals more than anything right now.

THE UNPARDONABLE SIN OF PALIN
in the eyes of liberals is that she has been successful without any need for modern feminist backing.

The community organization activities in which terrorist Bill Ayers (SDS alumnus), Maoist Mike Klonsky (SDS alumnus), and BO engaged in while funding $175,000 for the “Small Schools Workshop,” which had been founded by Ayers and was then headed by Klonsky, and subsequent moneys granted to Klonsky's other projects, shows that Palin and others are too polite in calling Barack a community "organizer."

Community "agitator" would be more appropriate!

Why has BO stonewalled when asked to describe his "organizational" achievements at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (originally proposed by Ayers)? The answer is clear.

Hey Ken
Nice efforts in trying to reason with Sophie, but liberals like her and impeachbush, left angle, etc. do not understand reason, they only understand rheotoric. Just let her keep frothing at the mouth, it shows just exactly how the liberal left operate in this country, with lies, smears and rumors.

Besides, none of the can hold a candle to Sarah Palin. They are running scared because their Chosen One is imploding more and more each day.

And Sophie, when the media starts holding Oblama accountable for his actions, and lack of, then you might have an arguement, until then shut up and keep your comments clean before I refer to you as a female canine.

oh Jeffrey
How utterly sweet of you to be so concerned about poor Gov Palin that you would ask Sen McCain to withdraw her name. But don't worry son, she's a big girl, and she can deal with this.

You az. Yes, you would LOVE it if Gov Palin weren't our nominee.
How stupid do you think we are????

You need our help alright.

Look at the troll surge
The Obama campaign must be very nervous. They've sent a veritable surge of trolls to rant on TH.

cheryl
wonderful post

They hate her because
she chose to bring her baby into the world instead of kill it off.
Let's be honest. Makes them guilty.
Same reason some people hate the military- people who possess courage they don't have (and can't bring themselves to admire)
Same reason some people hate George Bush- he has courage and a moral compass. makes 'em guilty.

That, plus the modern feminists are just like the modenr civil rights activists. They don't profit when people make it on their own. Must keep them victims. Must keep them dependent. Gloria Steinem=Jesse Jackson.

Up TEN points today!!!!!!!!!!!
The latest poll has McCain ahead by 4 points when he was BEHIND by six a week ago. He got the bounce and O'Vomit gets BOUNCED in November.

An alaska critic in FL

We see a critic of Sarah Palin posting from FL. She's obviously cribbing from some Lib website; HoofyPost or Kos, and calls herself "L"

"SP" -- Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers."

Listen, L. If assage House is unable to operate on a 3.9 million dollar budget; why is it in existence?

I have to think Sarah found the price exorbitant and did some quick calculating. You will need a better complaint than that one to rain on Palin's big parade. Aren't you in fact a troll from another Obama website; on a mission to defame the candidate? Florida seems a bit far from the "scene of the crimes" you're pushing here. I think you're a troll.

Oprah works for Obama

If it seems important at all to YUZ, my friends, that Sarah Palin is a pariah over at Oprah's schmooze fest; here's one obvious reason:

Oprah is a shill for Obama and nobody has to wonder why. Oprah is not interested, PERIOD, in anyone who might interfere with the advent of that first black man destined to become President of this country. It's no use being a strong woman, for Oprah. Unless it's a woman of her own color.

Never mind she isn't elucidating her feminine fans on these details. She's within her rights to bar whoever doesn't please her.

If Sarah were campaigning for some other post or a job elsewhere underneath the glass ceiling; Oprah would invite her in a N Y minute.

But Black Messiah mot not like it if a member of the GOP came within a half-mile of the Oprah show. Oprah knows this is the most extraordinary woman she'll EVER see in America. But golly, don't ya see? Obambi is the second coming of God's holy son! Just because he was born a man of color!

Why "modern feminists" don't like Sarah-
She is not "their type" of feminist because she is photogenic, and is against abortion, gay marriage, and a misandronist (men haters)in general. She looks nothing like the members of National Organization of Women protesters that I see on TV.

Let me give you 10 quick reasons that the liberal feminists hate Sarah Palen:

1. She has an intact marriage. Most liberal feminists go it alone.

2. She has children. Most feminists don't have them or aborted them along the way.

3. She supports her husband's career and family. That infuriates feminists because they cannot think of a man being anything other than a wimpy attachment to their life. Sarah actually cooks the family meal- what a concept.

4. She is photogenic. Rush Limbaugh normally classifies feminists as "unattractive women in comfortable shoes"

5. She supports her children and is willing to give her time to the PTA, children's sports, etc.

6. She is not selfish. Her love for children caused her to keep her Down's Syndrome child. Appalling to radical feminists.

7. Faith is important. This really kills the feminists because when you peel away their onion, most of them are agnostics. They can't think of a higher power other than themselves.

8. She has actual accomplishments. Hillary "fought for 30 years" for women's issues and remained the perpetual victim because her party did not pick her. Sarah Palen in less than one week accomplished more as a woman for women than Hillary did in her whole career.

9. She really does love her country. Feminists usually see the USA as a mean place where a woman cannot advance. Rather than 18 million cracks in the "Glass Ceiling" Palen shattered it in one fell swoop.

10. She presents well. Most feminists are shrill, barking verbalists that cannot stop spewing their attack long enough to hear what the other side is saying.

One of today's Democrat trolls

One of Obambi's trolls posted a cute one:

"Jesus was a Community Organizer--Pontius Pilate was a Governor!"

Which is a good zinger.

In fact, Pilate was a Roman procurator. Not governor. He served at the will of Tiberius, a pagan god in Rome.

Whom is it Obama serves?

Another pagan god: Abortion.

Jesus was not an organizer at all. He lived in poverty! Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. There is only One Lamb /

There are hundreds of community organizers, especially in the ghettoes. Some may well do good works.

Others will procure your daughter a free abortion, "Let's kill your unborn baby. --But quietly! We can't let Mama know till we get it over with."

With Our Lord we have everlasting life. Usually it's our Mama who first teaches us about Jesus.

Points to ponder for a moment.

Modern feminism
is a fraud. It has defrauded men and women into this fantasy that both are equal. No, actually modern feminists insist that women are superior.

Feminists insist they don't need a man and then when they desperately are looking for a mate, they discover that men have (1) become feminized/emasculated, (2) been castrated or (3) gone on to marry women like Sarah Palin.

Modern feminism has turned out to be an unmitigated disaster for society. Same can be said for "gay rights." What a farce.

It's absolutely incredulous
What is SO unbelievably mind-boggling is the fact that feminists and "womens' rights activists" whine and rant ad nauseum about the "plight" of American women and yet they never say or do a blessed thing about the outrageous atrocities committed against women in the Middle East and elsewhere.

This clearly demonstrates that these "pro-women" groups are total hypocrits.

Modern feminism is a farce.

Well, all the trolls have been here
Spewing their usual nonsensical bilge. What a NON surprise.

Most of the conservatives have made some excellent points, but Mike in Maryland sums it all up pretty well.

The modern "feminists" don't give a damn about women, womens rights, or any of that rot.
All they care about is advancing their leftist "I Hate America" and I hate men agenda.

THANK YOU KEVIN
for the clarification in this article. I was a woman who in the 1960's & 1970's supported and belived in the women's movement. I believed that the theme of the movement then was that women could have it all, children, career or choose to be a housewife and each goal was acceptable. I chose the career and children, bucked the good ole boy's system, made a very good living for myself and my two sons, was an excellent hunter, did competition shooting, ran three different business and in my 50's I joined the Peace Corps to help others. While in Eastern Europe I spoke to one group on the importance of Freedom of the Press for a new democracy.
I believe all women then could accomplish whatever they desired and we were each other's support in our quest. However, 2008 arrives. A capable, intelligent, mother of 5, hunter, attractive woman is selected to be a vice presidential running mate and within 30 minutes of her selection and first speech there are more stones thrown at her than the prostitute in the Bible. The vile attacks were coming from every direction, even from women who marched and wrote about women's rights in the 1970's. This has been baffling to me. I was feeling betrayed by my own gender. However, Kevin McCullough's article made sense, we are different women in different times. Thank God, I identify with Sarah Palin and she is a woman for our times.

To the rest of you Ladies, too much liberal hate will eat away at your soul. Please wake up or you will destroy your own cause.

Kathy
"Nice efforts in trying to reason with Sophie, but liberals like her and impeachbush, left angle, etc. do not understand reason, they only understand rheotoric."

Thanks for your concern, but I've debated those idiots before. You're right that they only understand rhetoric - which is why most of my responses were little more than rhetoric.

You'll notice the Sophist doesn't fare so well when people fire back at her. Like most liberal trolls, she can dish it out but she can't take it. When she gets vulgar (as she almost always does), I know I've got her on the run.

Ironic
I just find it so odd that growing up I knew so many girls that had 6-10 abortions before they were 20 years old and they were always the religious girls with conservative views or conservative parents. It's pretty well known that most of the girls that end up in porn or prostitution very often come from this same background.
My guess is that Sarah might have a few baby skeletons in her or her daughters closets. Conservatives always count on the decency of the liberals, I think it's time liberals start fighting fire with fire and exposing how many women who had abortions are ACTUALLY CONSERVATIVES OR TEENAGE DAUGHTERS OF CONSERVATIVES. I know I never needed to have one, but then I had sex education, self esteem and self respect being raised liberally.
Kevin's rhetoric of "they hate Sarah because she's pretty," is sad and laughable. I could care less what the candidate looks like or who he or she is married to.....but nothing stinks of desperation, trying to "be the same as a man," than a woman taking the same cowardly, overcompensating role of chasing animals around with a gun. It's just pathetic. Nothing says "I'm weak!" more.
I think someone who prefers the "magic man who lives in the sky's" stories over actual science is not only stupid and crazy, but dangerous and it's frightening and a reflection of the need for better education that she even was elected anywhere.
The reasons REAL FEMINISTS hate Sarah is because REAL FEMINISTS are strong, intelligent and compassionate and she's an ignorant, weak hypocrite, lap dog that's bent over for the old boys club, misrepresenting herself as a feminist. SARAH PALIN IS ANTI-WOMAN.

For Victoria
Victoria,

From your letter I can see that you are a REAL FEMINIST, however, do not kid yourself that you come across as strong, intelligent and compassionate. Every word you wrote shows that you have none of those qualities. Then you write: 'Conservatives always count on the decency of the liberals'. Sorry, there is no decency in your ranting. You might not be ANTI-WOMAN but you sure give them a bad name. Talk about ignorant!
REAL FEMINIST like you are indeed frightening - No, make that pathetic. You poor thing.

Blue State (Establishment) Feminism
Establishment Feminism in America today is Blue State Feminism and has such individuals as Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer as it’s represntatives. This is today’s radical feminism and it is part of today’s Establishment Liberalism as represented by the Democratic Party. Establishment Blue State Feminism must not conflict with the wider agenda of Establishment Liberalism.

Palin, to the Blue State Feminists, represents Red State Feminism. She loves her husband, she loves her children and family, she opposes abortion, she loves her country, and does not see herself as being oppressed by men and the patriarchy.

Palin is a punch in the face to Establishment Blue State Feminism.

Establishment Blue State Feminism does not truly care about women, otherwise they would be celebrating Palin. But Palin runs counter to the agenda of Blue State Feminism and Establishment Liberalism.

Now I would just as soon get rid of the word feminism, unless of course this country mainstreamed it’s male counterpart: masculinism, men’s rights, or whatever name men wish to come up with. But the political class and the MSM is going to frame every discussion of Palin through a feminist lense.

Now I don’t know if Palin will use her influence to damage men, but from what I see, she loves her husband, children, family, God, and country-and these give hope that Palin can perhaps redefine the national discourse about women and men away from the damaging and dominant influence of Establishment Blue State Feminism. That alone may be reason enough for Blue State Feminists to want to destroy Palin.

Democrats, Liberals, and Establishment Feminists are experiencing an existential threat.

Palin is an embarrassment
Governor Palin is an embarrassment because she was wholly unprepared for the task to which she agreed to perform. Her interviews were troublesome, her rhetoric was disheartening to many of us, her attacks just plain anger provoking due to the overt lies being proclaimed.
With some further experience in her state and the national level, self-education on a wide variety of topics, public speaking polish, etc. she might be more acceptable to the general public, not just women alone. I will not vote for her, if her politics are as widely opposite as to mine, but when she has matured, she could possibly be acceptable.
Just because she is a woman, who is not my ilk politically, is not reason to vote for her. She has a long way to go to ever become parity with Senator Hilary Clinton or any othe the other women in the House or Senate.
As for feminism; there are all kinds of women in this world; we do differ with each. . .that is no crime, just human nature.
