Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Why CNBC's Donny Deutsch likes to bait Christians into answers he doesn't like, to only then berate them for his dislike of them is a wee bit unexplainable. Deutsch did it to my friend Stephen Baldwin as he attempted raise awareness about the dangerous impact of peep show/porn houses that operate near schools, and this past week he laid the same strategy on Ann Coulter. Both Coulter and Baldwin spoke to me shortly after their appearances (but prior to the airing of the taped segments) with a bit of bewilderment as to how the events had unfolded.

The problem was Ann would have none of it.

Deutsch invited Ann to describe what the world would look like if she had her say. One aspect of her answer was that the world would be more Christian:

DEUTSCH: Christian — so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?
COULTER: Yes.
DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?
COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?

Deutsch was not amused:

DEUTSCH: So you don’t think that was offensive?
COULTER: No. I’m sorry. It is not intended to be. I don’t think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe — this is just a statement of what the New Testament is — is that that’s why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don’t believe our testament.

Despite the rather precise, clear, and distinct explanations that Ann offered up, Deutsch continued to imply that Ann was anti-Semitic, religiously bigoted, and even educationally ignorant.

The problem was - he was describing himself.

Unfortunately many people will only scan headlines, hear the gossip, and assume Ann Coulter is a religious bigot. Sadly some goons are now responding in ways that have attempted to threaten Ann's physical safety.

As I replayed some of the more pithy soundbytes on my show - based in New York City - our phone lines flooded with response from both Christians and Jews. The first half dozen or so to get through in fact all seemed Jewish and most were stunned at the silliness with which Deutsch conducted himself. And note this please... not ONE of them were offended by what Ann Coulter had stated.

The fact that Jews and Christians share the Old Testament as a source of truth that guides their life is a bit of common ground unlike any two other faith systems in the world. The fact that they come to different conclusions - particularly as to how the prophecies of that text are fulfilled is not surprising though. Simply put Christians believe that Yeshua fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy and was in fact the promised Messiah. Thus we count his teaching and the remainder of the New Testament as sacred inspired text. We believe it to be as every bit much part of the scripture as the Old. Jews come to different conclusions.

Secular or only culturally observant Jews like Deutsch have sometimes attempted to read more into the label of Christianity than what is there. Examples of this include the ridiculous attempt to describe Adolph Hitler as a practicing Christian, when there is far more evidence in his life's actions and writings that he was perhaps entirely demon possessed. Also telling are the examples of the closeness Christians and Jews have shared throughout modern history - even Hitler-era examples such as Corrie Ten Boom and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Serious Christians as well as serious Jews have a unique ability to sit across the table from one another, share a meal, talk - even about religion - without feeling the need to come to blows. Hence why Ben Shapiro, Dennis Prager, and Michael Medved - are not merely people I have great esteem for, but men I consider to be true friends.

Prager and Medved have both even consistently argued for the strengthening of what has traditionally been a strong alliance between the Jewish community and the Evangelical church. I've heard both of them remark on multiple occasions, that perhaps there has never been "a more true friend" to the Jewish people than today's Evangelical Christian.

Long story short - Ann Coulter's theological perspective was accurate if she were being asked to answer the questions from the distinctly Christian viewpoint. Feigning outrage, yet in reality probably thankful for the free publicity his show received because of it, Deutsch did not demonstrate any evidence anti-Semitism on Coulter's part.

What was demonstrated was that Ann has a knack for offending the ignorant.

Knowing that he could play the anti-Semite card without much scrutiny on his end was a cheap ploy to gain exposure at Ann's expense. Ann is not a perfect person, but on this issue she stood fast and true. Anyone who took offense only demonstrated that they either do not understand their own belief system well enough to feel confident in it, or that they are not very good listeners.

I believe with Deutsch one could argue the case for both!

Timely and important commentary
Well done, Kevin. Deutsch should be feeling the heat, not Ann. I wish Christians were responding to his calculated pseudo-controversy in an activist manner. This is a vital confrontation in the fight to keep religion in the public sphere.

Ann sure draws a crowd
Ann is a typical conservative woman, gorgeous, she doesn’t have to say a word but she also is one of the brightest people expressing any political view. She is such a great spokes woman for the Conservative view. I also like Laura Ingraham quite well, her Book “Power to the People” is quite good, recommended reading.
Donny Deutsch didn’t stand a chance against this tower of strength. He is probably still trying to figure out what she said, I know it took me a couple of readings. Surely our new Republican President can find a place for her in the Cabinet.

Not likely to come back and check the comments, if you want to argue email me barrym.@tds.net.

Ann Coulter is Un-American
The only ignorant people are Kevin McCullough & Ann Coulter.

It’s un-American to say it wouild be better to convert all Jews to Christianity.

Jews should write books, get on TV saying Jesus is not God, just a prophet who didn’t die on the cross for our sins, and they (Jews) are the chosen people. That's their faith. Deal with it. America is Freedom of Religion; not all are Christians.

Ann Coulter exists to get attention by saying stupid, hatful crud to make news. There's no intellect behind it, only twisted ideology & ignorance. Coulter’s an ignorant, hateful, provocateur.

Coulter Truth only for smart people?
“The 9/11 widows are harpies who enjoy their husbands death.”
“John Edwards is a F*G.”

More brilliant Coulter:
--------------------------
“Jews NEED to be perfected (like Christians)”

"You walk past a mixed-race couple in New York, and it's like they have a chip on their shoulder. They're just waiting for somebody to say something" (Coulter has the chip)

"No. In fact, there was an entire "Seinfeld" episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying." (Seinfeld?)

“We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners”

(Christianity) “It's kind of a fast track; We have the fast-track program”
----------------------------

Coulter says Jesus paid for our sins, so we’re not accountable to God’s laws & heaven is automatic, “fast track”. Bible facts muddled in radical weird ideology & ignorance.

Judaeo-christian God the same? Christians believe in a Triune God, Father-Son-Holy Sprit. Jews don’t believe Jesus (The Son) is Lord and Savior.

Pastor Coulter the Evangelist? She writes a political book about religion & publicly says on TV Jews are inferior, It’s repugnant, hostile, insulting and shows her evil.

I look forward to the day
when Donny DoucheBag has the apoplectic fit on TV with a heart attach crescendo, which he seems to be working himself into similar to the scene in Network.

What? He asked her about comments in her book. This no conspiracy to squash religion, SHE BROUGHT IT UP. Now if you are equating conservative politics with Evangelizing that is scary.

Deutsch is a Jew and thinks its just dandy. DO you have a problem with Jews? Mormons? He made Coulter look like an idiot. She quoted Jerry Falwell that "Jews Go To Heaven". ha ha ha.

OldRelayer writes: "Ann is a typical conservative woman, gorgeous.. One of the brightest people expressing any political view. She is such a great spokes woman for the Conservative view. Donny Deutsch didn’t stand a chance against this tower of strength. Surely our new Republican President can find a place for her in the Cabinet."

First Ann looks like a drag queen. Second she is not smart only hateful. Donny Deutsch made her look like and idiot. Last you will have to wait for the Republican President for a long time. Since Ann is pushing 50 years old, he will be in a home for old haters, by the time the GOP takes the white house again, thankfully.

Every time one of your GOP water carriers gets embarrassed for stupid, racist, anti-american, bigot comments that shows their true colors, all you lock steppers whine and cry like babies, waaa, waaa, sniffle, its the LIBERALS! (or Jews, Blacks, Mexicans or any ones fault but yours.)

COULTER, STICK WITH POLITICS.
Based solely on the transcript of the conversation that appears in Kevin's column, I'm baffled as to how anyone could defend Ann's statements. Can you imagine Mitt Romney saying that Mormons are "perfected Christians"?

BTW, even if you're not offended by the statement, did anyone notice how religiously ignorant this self proclaimed Christian (Coulter) sounded? "As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws". Geeeezzzzz.

Great article
I was not aware of this interview. Thanks for writing it and sharing your valuable insight.

I thought it was spot on. In today's culture, unbelievers will do everything they can to cause division. That's where he was going with it.

Ann would have none of it. It is my hope and prayer as we move further into the end times, our connection to the Jewish community, our desire as a nation to defend and bless Israel will continue to blossom.

After all, Jews and Christians alike, are all waiting in eager expectation for the Messiah. He's not coming as a sacrificial lamb this time. We are both waiting to see the Lion of the tribe of Judah return.

Ann Coulter should be more sensitive. .
about this particular subject. The Christian Gospel is an offense to those who do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah, Savior, and Lord; therefore, while we are asked by Jesus in the New Testament to take the Gospel to every person, we are instructed to do it in love. That means not to do it flippantly or in humor. There is an excellent monthly magazine, published in Israel by Israeli Christians, that presents this subject and news of Israel clearly, honestly, yet sensitively: Israel Today (reachable by their website http://www.israeltoday.co.il). Anyone who would like a copy may e-mail me at rkleine45150@yahoo.com. Blessings to all.

Christ said...
..."Go out and convert all nations".Christians have been evangelizing ever since and will continue to do so.What I like about that is that it drives the anti-Christian bigots, such as some of the above posters, crazy.I like that.

I think all things work for good to those who love God and are called to his purpose...

Don't shoot the messenger. How much better that Ann is willing to explain the gospel than to choose silence for fear of offense.

We don't know what the ripple effect will bring.

Ann is her own person, and has a reputation for not backing down or soft-pedaling her beliefs.

How effective would it be if in the most important aspect of her life (her belief in God and the Redemption of mankind through Jesus Christ) she suddenly became a different person and refused to speak truth?

Deutsch asked the question, so he should not be surprised that she answered it as she did.

Jews
Jews claim the title by any one of three entries. They allege Jew is a race, an ethnicity, and a religion. You can be a Jew by claiming any of the three. Trotsky was a Jew but he was an atheist/Communist. Many Jews proclaim their Judaism though their shadow never falls on the floor of the synagogue. Communist Jews are glaring examples but there are thousands of non-practicing Jews that are not Communist. Jews are not friends of Christians at least not those that attack our Christian faith; those in Hollywood, the press, the Black robe wearers that sit on some courts, and activist like the ACLU. To paint all Jews as "God's chosen" is to create a stereotype more egregious that to condemn all Blacks or all Mexicans using some equally misguided descriptive stereotypical phrase. All Jews are not good and they should be identified and condemned like any other of the ideologically misguided. Jews were instrumental in killing 40 million Russians under the Communist--those Jews were not and are not "God's chosen". They should be condemned in the same manner and with the same volume as Adolph Hitler.

Hangtyme
Coulter was right about the Old Testament and the Jews. Go to a good search program for a bib;e and type in "and the people of Israel sinned" and see how many times it appears. A lot more than once. Much of the OT was sin, forgiveness, sin, forgiveness, etc.

Hiya, mrs Paddy
"Don't shoot the messenger. How much better that Ann is willing to explain the gospel than to choose silence for fear of offense."

OK. Question: Is it the Christian message that Christians are perfect? That's Ann's message.

I thought only God was perfect and the rest of us corrupt sinners.

But Ann thinks being Christian perfects you.

I thought is was not perfect, but forgiven.

Savage went ballistic
Calling Christian doctrines and the NT moronic and only morons believe in the new birth and conversion. They crucified Christ not because he was political or loved the poor.....But he said he was God Almighty and if you don't believe in him as God you are consequently damned...this offends many people, just look at the hatred crucifixion of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Seinfeld, eh?
The Seinfeld reference is precious. Proof of her meticulous research, her slavish adherents will say. Hilarious.

Jet Pilot
You people never cease to amaze me, Why Ann makes you so angry is beyond me.

Why is it that liberals will jump to defend the the jews when there is even the slightest hint of a Anti -semetic remark, and then five minutes later blame Isreal for all the woes in the middle east.

If you want to find a real Anti-semite look no further than your very own Jimmy Carter.

Jet-pilot: No-one but Jews ever wrote any books?

Deutsch is a parasite
Deutsch has no real fame or accomplishments of his own. So he tries to "achieve" something by taking down those who have accomplished something or are in the process of it, as with Baldwin.

Deutsch is trying to make something out of nothing, and Coulter will ignore his whining rants the same as she has done with Al Franken, Kirsten Breitweiser, John and Elizabeth Edwards, and those sub-pathetic liberal detractors whose arguments are so weak and vacuous that they resort to impugning her womanhood.

Ann Coulter has star power, and it has far more to do with her intellect, her logic, her reason, and her political courage to speak the bare bones truth than it does with her good looks. I've never met the woman and I feel as though we've been the best of friends for years.

If Deutsch thinks he's going to change that by nitpicking at how Coulter describes her religion and whining that he doesn't like his own nit-picked interpretation he's deluding himself.

The best indicator of this whole episode is how many people never would have heard of Donny Deutsch if Ann Coulter hadn't agreed to let interview her. You can see how Deutsch has shown his appreciation.

Nam 65-66
I don't think the Christ said anything about "converting" although he obviously believed in the power of the WORD to reach souls to whom it was delivered, and therefore gave his disciples the mandate to spread the WORD to ALL the Earth's peoples.
To "convert" usually implies force and the Christ never told anyone to bring the WORD to the peoples via force (although, of course, being lesser than God, humans of the Christian faith have attempted to do just that). It is Islam that commands its followers to offer conversion and if the offer is not taken to kill the infidels, unless they are "people of the book" (Christians and Jews) in which case they can accept second class status in Muslim society, and never speak their religious beliefs openly or display any images of their religion openly...more or less become non-practicing, and pay a tax (or taxes) for the privilege of continued life.

I watched that program
and it was eerily reminiscent of the debate when Dan Quayle compared his age to JFK's as president. Loyd Bensen's infamous, yet completely irrelevant retort to the statement was that he was no John F. Kennedy. Ann has identified this behavior unique to liberals - the habit of feigning shock and indignation, while manipulating a comment so completely that it is totally distorted. It is simply evil.

She wasn't attempting to offend, she was stating the basic tennet of the Christian faith. It is no more offensive than a Jew saying Jesus was just a prophet. Last I heard, we are still able to express our beliefs in this country. Maybe that perk only belongs to rappers and religions that espouse torture and terrorism.

Warrior
You are quite correct. What you didn't include was that Hitler's father was a Jew while his Austrian mother (married to an Austrian) worked for the Jew.

The left once was solidly Jewish
but since them 60s, the liberals have changed their positions on the Middle East and the Palestinians to become more and more anti-Semitic, as they regard Israel as a source of conflict.

Anti-semitism in Europe, the trashing of Jewish cemeteries and swastikas painted on synagogues, i. e., have become common occurrences snce the end of the 20th C. Muslim rioters reguarly attack Jewish businesses in France, altho' we only hear about it if huge numbers are involved.

Chrisitianity once was prised by the left as a means of accumulataing money from gov't's for "ompassionsate" programs and handouts, the idea being Christ would've been so giving. During the mid-20th C. civil rights movement, leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr., were minister (in real life, not like Al Sharpton). I can't imagine what King would think today of people who call "Christmas" offensive.

The left now has no use for Christians because of opposition to abortion and non-acceptance of homosexualtiy. The left doesn't really care now about anti-Semitism, since the movement itself often indulges it,
but liberals use any hint of pro-Christian, anti-Judaic utterance as a battering ram against Christians.
Christians, like Ann Coulter, have to fight back. There was once a populat hymn, Onward, Christian Soldiers, and Christians again must defend themselves and their religion, which has brought to the West (and by inference the world) that idea of individualaity and personhood, through the means of having a personal relationship with Jesus and Go d.
is offensive now

King Liberal
My best guess is "you have missed everything; today, yesterday, and will in the future". Shallow people that react without reason, defend without proper intellectual bastion, and demonstrate offense as a means to stifle have never affected me , nor will they ever.

anti-socialist
While I appreciate some support--I do not need it. Shooting from the hip, being basted in emotion, or opining without research and study is not my forte. BTW Hitler's father was not Jewish and there is not one shred of evidence to prove or suggest he was; there have been those to make such claims but never has there been any verification.

jet pilot's superficiality and ignorance
Sir, you reveal once again your ignorance, barely superficial understanding of theology, and liberal propensity to misleadingly MISQUOTE conservatives.
Ms. Coulter's comments re; the jersey girl/9-11 widows were misquoted egregiously, all the better to discredit her?
Ms. Coulter's summation of the difference between Old Testament rules, e.g. adherence to the Mosaic Code, that is the 10 commandments plus the laws and rules laid down in the Bible, versus the salvation through belief in Jesus Christ as saviour was a concise and honest one.
Perhaps likening this "salvation through the grace of God" to federal express, or a "fast track" is mildly disrespectful, but theologians and scholars might accept it as a "cliff's notes" simplification of the essential disagreements between the faiths. Nowhere does Ann Coulter call for death, persecution or any other hardship to be visited upon Jews, she merely states things might be "easier" for society if they converted.
Indeed, contrast the evangelical outreach of love to the forcible conversion or death offered by Islam.
also. 'jetpilot" your ad hominem attacks on Ms. Coulter lower the tone of debate and reveal your puerile mindset. If you had intellectual standing you wouldn't need to go there.

Rabbi Boteach: Tolerance Is "Repugnant"
In today's society people pride themselves on their tolerance. They believe they have progressed beyond the prejudices of the past. They have learned to allow those opinions that do not necessarily accord with their own to be voiced. But is this progress?

I find this definition of tolerance repugnant. Rather than find enrichment or redemption in another's differences, one tolerates, or stomachs, their differences. One swallows hard, one suffers — tolerates — another's right to be different. This is hardly recognizing the virtue than [sic] can be extracted from another party's distinctiveness.
— Rabbi Boteach (8)

Christians Make Jews Uncomfortable
Christians make Jews "uncomfortable" in ten ways summarized in the Appendix: Why Christianity Makes Jews Uncomfortable. Since Jews will have the power of life and death over Christians in the upcoming Jewish millennium, Jewish uncomfortable-ness matters.

Christianity Is the Ultimate Heresy
Certain beliefs have been deeply engrained into the Jewish psyche for so many thousands of years, that even the most secular and disinterested of Jews accept them as axiomatic. Foremost among these is the simple belief that no man could ever be God. … Man is free, but his liberty cannot be taken for license.
— Rabbi Boteach (6)

The idea that a man could be God is anathema to everything that Judaism stands for and everything that Judaism came into this world to accomplish.
— Rabbi Boteach (57)

She does enjoy stirring up the pot.
I did see the video clip of the Ann Coulter/Donny Deutsch brouhaha a couple of times.

Deutsch's sanctimonious outrage was a bit contrived.

Anyhow, I don't much care what offends Deutsch. Nothing he could ever say or do would ever mean anything to me. He just doesn't register with me.

Who knows what prompted Coulter to make those remarks. Were they made to attract publicity to showcase her new book, or did she derive some enjoyment in sticking it to some leftist, phony, hypocritical, secular Jew?

She has been much vilified by the left. But she seems to almost relish her role as the leftists' bete-noire, almost encouraging it thru her provocative statements.

She is immensely popular with the right, but with me some of the bloom has begun to come off the rose. At some point, agent provocateur becomes caricature.

A shame, really, for her books, "Treason", and "Slander", were excellent.

King Liberal
In the 60s I observed people like you in fraternity house discussions devoid of knowledge but overflowing with non-facts delivered loudly as gospel. Your capacity to misunderstand the written word has a direct link to your lack of practice in reading for comprehension. I will not engage in further mental or verbal gymnastics with someone unread and motivated by emotion wrapped in stupidity. KL nothing else from you will be acknowledged or commented on.

What a Country
Ain't it great that Ann is free to say everyone would be better off being Christian? She can say it and not worry that the religious police will show up and take her away. It is also great that everyone is free to ignore her statement if they so desire. Unlike certain other belief systems true adherents of Christ's teaching are not interested in forcing their religion on the world. They will talk your ear off if you let them but they know Christianity has to be accepted willingly in order to be real.

Lonestarblues
Hiya Lonestar! I'm not sure I follow Ann's 'perfected Jews' statement. I don't think she is saying that Christians are perfect, however. You'd have to ask her to explain her word choice on that one.

I found this quote online that might shed some light. it is relating to James 2:22

"...for my strength is made perfect in weakness;
by the "strength" of Christ is meant, not his strength as the mighty God, but that communicative strength which he has, and is in him as Mediator, and which saints look to him for, and receive from him; this is "made perfect in" their "weakness"; not that their weakness can add perfection to his strength, for his strength is perfect in itself..."

This is a little convoluted, but I suspect that's where Ann is coming from...she tends to do that. LOL.

Trulib
Another great post.

Mrs. Paddy
"This is a little convoluted, but I suspect that's where Ann is coming from...she tends to do that. LOL."

One reason Ann reduces your reasoning to a simple phrase like "perfected Jews" is that this is her style. But another reason is she knows the intellectual limits of her audience.

Can you imagine Ann trying your explanation on a liberal dolt like Deutsch? ROFLOL

Seperate socieites
It is why we had separate societies when we founded this nation. Each state had its own dominate religion. Some had State religions until 1833. In some states, like N.H. you couldn't hold State office until 1877 if you were a Catholic because of animosity dating back centuries to European Catholic dominance in some areas.

The Old Testament foretells of a "Mesiah," and the Jews believe that Mesiah will be one thing, the Christians believe he was Christ that rather than an "earthly kingdom," as one comment alluded to, it will be an eternal kingdom. There is no need for tolerance. Both can totally disagree.

However, when it comes to socialism, vs. capitalism or liberalism vs. conservatism, it would be nice to return to our original separate societies. Let one state be a s liberal as it wants and another as conservative as it wants and then we are free to choose which society we want to live in.

Just as we can live in Nevada with a society more "tolerant" of gambling and prostitution (only state it is legal in, I believe), we can have all kinds of "differences" and not be tolerant of things we don't want whether it is religion or something else if we are truly a "Republic" of societies that only use a central government, as intended, for a few basic needs, like defense, trade policy, monetary policy, disputes between states, etc.

jet pilot
You really have to work hard to be that dull. Ann Coulter explained it very well - it's too bad you weren't paying attention or you wouldn't have written a long post full of gibberish and incoherent rambling. Christians believe that Christ's death on the cross (and His death on the cross is an immutable historic fact) paid for our sins. That doesn't mean we are 'off the hook' in regards to following God's laws. We're bound to follow them, just as Jews are. The difference is that when we sin, we can come to the throne of grace and be forgiven. The payment for sin isn't absolute - people who don't accept Christ are not under that forgivness. But even those who are have to believe and begin to follow God's laws out of LOVE, not through the heavy-handedness of Old Testament punishments, etc....

Ann's point was that Jewish people believe in getting to heaven through a system of laws - Christians know that no one can keep all of God's laws, and therefore, we need a Savior.

As to the other ranting and raving that you did, smearing Ann with the most vile insults....well, that just demonstrates that you are full of rage and hatred for your fellow man (or in this case, woman). A little research into subjects you're thinking of commenting on BEFORE you open mouth and insert foot would do you well.

mrs Paddy
"I'm not sure I follow Ann's 'perfected Jews' statement. I don't think she is saying that Christians are perfect, however. You'd have to ask her to explain her word choice on that one."

She used the word, perfected. And when asked to explain, she said two things.

One, defended against antisemitism. Why'd she even think of that, her remarks were not about Jews, but Christians. So why was she so defensive on that--was she trolling for it?

Two, she define her meaning as "But that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews." James 2:22 is speaking of the perfection of Christ, imo, not Christians.

It's just not very Christian to consider yourself perfect. It rejects the need for salvation.

Politically, her message, the notion of perfecting Jews, borders on social engineering and touches on Social Darwinism.

why live together?
Why should conservatives have to live in a liberal society or liberals live in a conservative society in a nation this big and diverse? Only when we "centralize power," do we see our freedom to choose the society we live in taken away, as we have done. If we returned to the Constitutional form of government we had started with, we would still have oversight courtesy of the 14th that gave Congress (not the Courts) the power to reign in rouge states but, would have the freedom to be liberal or conservative not "one-size-fits-all" that pleases nobody and divides the nation like it is until it is so weak, it can't even pay down its debt, is losing jobs, losing our ability to compete in the world that is moving to capitalism (sometimes a ruthless form of it but still capitalism that is kicking our butts).

We are so focused on social issues here that we are bankrupt as a nation and soon won't even be able to pay for the continuance of the social programs we have come to depend on. If you want an eye-opener, read the Gov. Accounting Office Report to Congress and how this is the 3rd year running they have advised we are on an "unsustainable" course and face a "gradual if not sudden loss of.. our standard of living..."
http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d07362sp.pdf

Why not return to what we were allowed to have when we were founded, separate societies and then see which states do the best as far as "pursuit of happiness" and living within their means and "freedom of choice" and economic viability for their citizens?

You nailed it!
Thanks, Kevin, for writing this article. I attempted a similar response almost 100% (maybe not as elegant as yours, though) but my sign-in timed out and my "article" got wiped the day this Coulterism appeared. Now I don't need rewrite since you've stole my deleted thunder.
