Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Liberals have been clucking non-stop since election night at the prospects of what Democrat victory means to their radical causes. In first recruiting, then funding, faith-friendly, conservative, and in a couple of instances even born-again candidates -- the Democrat party captured needed numbers to swipe leadership posts.

The strategy proved extremely effective. Nancy Pelosi will bring San Fran values to the Beltway debate, and Kennedy, Kerry, and Clinton will clamor to be first in line.

But how did she get there? In many instances - by taking advantage of terrible Republicans - and their own criminal wrong doing. But the main strategy was to convince a needed one-fourth of the electorate that the Democrat option on the ballot was not much different than the Republican option. Winning enough of the seats to take control of both houses, Pelosi is free to assign every committee chairmanship in the House, as is Reid in the Senate - to the most disgusting and vile liberal creatures imaginable.

The strategy was so sound it was as though they had taken the ideas right out of my book: MuscleHead Revolution: Overturning Liberalism with Commonsense Thinking or at the very least from the scrap notes of Karl Rove.

Look at how the candidates described themselves: "pro-marriage", "pro-life", "pro-gun", "born-again Christian", "pro-business", "anti-tax,” and in one case "former member of the Reagan administration."

And understand this clearly, it wasn't important that any of them demonstrate these beliefs - merely campaign on them. And in doing so,they campaigned only enough to make the point that in pulling the lever for them - the "common sense" voter wouldn't lose on certain, and vitally important "values" issues.

They invoked Jesus, God, the Bible, marriage, and faith in decibel and volume that would have earned Soros-sized scorn, and Kos-site mockery - were the party to actually let them demonstrate any of it.

But in doing so, they tricked the masses into believing that their positions on such matters would stand as strong as the true-believers that some of them displaced.

So what of it...

In January Speaker-Elect Pelosi will remind Heath Shuler that while he could throw a somewhat average NFL pass back in the day, that on her team - she's the coordinator of offense and he'll only be throwing on her direction.

One of my listeners described this situation perfectly this week calling the freshman class - the Crash Dummies.

They will have no clout, no position, and will be in immediate and desperate need of support and organization. They will not be in position to openly defy Pelosi, Murtha, Reid, and Durbin. Some have gone so far to already admit on the campaign trail that though they hold the position the voter felt was important - they will not "lecture others about morality, like Rick Santorum."

They will need the advice and networking of senior members to get their legislative efforts underway. They will want to try to deliver earmarks for their districts. And in needing to accomplish these things they will be beholding to the horse that "brung 'em" - Pelosi.

A few will attempt independence from the liberal elite that rule the chambers, but none will survive it. Liberals have been out of power for so long now that the only thing pressed upon their minds is to regain the third branch of government in 2008.

Don't misunderstand, Republicans are in even far worse shape - but at least they are waking up to that reality.

The class of the Crash Dummies has much to learn about the beltway and how things work. It doesn't help matters that Pelosi raised on average some $4500 each for them.

What she wants she will get, which come to think of it might leave Hillary in a bit of a pickle.

A sad thing about the functionally empty-suit Crash Dummies is that they will be pretty much a near immediate disappointment to those who sent them there. Make no mistake America did not lurch left on election night.

The saddest thing of all however is that the Crash Dummy class of 2006, while it was a brilliant strategy by the now near Rovian status Emmanuel, is that it removed some of the strongest true believers that social conservatives have ever supported. The likes of George Allan, and Rick Santorum, don't come along often - and their losses are blows to the body that hurt.

And it is those few true believers that our nation will miss most, whether we realize it now or not.

Though at least this way Rick Santorum can fill Justice Stevens spot on the Supreme Court given that the polite traditions of United States Senators do not permit them to filibuster one another...

KMC: The election's over
Get a grip. Your column here is so hyperbolic and over the top -- and I'm a conservative -- that I wonder if you're planning on grabbing your white sheets and Klan outfit, saddling up with a lit torch, and seeing if you can find some folks to lynch, especially the Bluedogs -- those Dems who ran on pro-gun pro-life values that their constituents will EXPECT THEM TO UPHOLD.

Have you come completely unglued? You sound like the polar opposite and mirror reflection of Howard Dean during his meltdown.

Get a grip, learn a lesson or two, and move forward to 2008.

Sheesh.

BTW, check out my "Aftermath" essay
on my blog.

BrianR,
I guess I didn't read this article the same way you did. KMC seemed to me to be describing the bogus campaigning themes of Democrat candidates that got them elected. He doesn't believe that their conservative portrayal of themselves can be lived up to.

Pelosi, Reid, et al are too powerful for the newbies to stand up to. Assuming that they wanted to stand up to the leftist loonies who are now in control. There is a strong possibility that the values they proclaimed on the campaign trail were nothing except B.S. anyway. Time will tell.

As far as I 'm concerned the Republicans are responsible for what happened. Start at the top. George Bush insult6ed and alienated his base. He had to know what his obstinate insistance on amnesty would anger conservatives who voted for his sorry butt twice.

I don't think that it was only conservatives who were infuriated over that issue. Bush spit in the faces of a lot of people who are seriously concerned about illegal immigration and national security. Some of the clowns in the Senate supported Bush. Every time I see John McCain I want to puke. I don't think I am the only one. Idiots like Denny Hastert screwed up big time too.

Do you remember that moron rushing in front of the cameras to defend "Freezer" Jeffersons right to conceal evidence in his office? It took Hastert all of a day to realize that citing some obscure Congressional defense of the separation of powers would not fly. He beat a hasty and undignified retreat, but the damage to his reputation had already been done.

He came across as either a crooked politician with something in his own office to hide, or a world class fool. I suspected the latter.

In retrospect, and based on some of the comments on TH since the election, some conservatives just stayed home. They wanted to send a message and they did. Now we have to live through the aftermath.

Brian, you really lost me with your comments about sheets and the klan. What was that about? Seriously, I am asking if I missed something there. Could you clarify please? Thanks in advance.

BrianR
What specific quotes from the column prompted you to say these things:

1) The election's over

2) I wonder if you're planning on grabbing your white sheets and Klan outfit

3) Have you come completely unglued?

4) You sound like the polar opposite and mirror reflection of Howard Dean during his meltdown.

Were these statements of yours "so hyperbolic and over the top"?

Kimberly and Brian R
Kevin is right. Those who were duped by the Dems will speak even louder in 2008. The Blue Dog Dems better be willing to step up and fight back against liberal socialist like you two and Pelosi et al or the Dem. party won't be in power very long come the next Presidential election.
To whom much is given, much is EXPECTED!

The warfare continues…

‘They invoked Jesus, God, the Bible, marriage, and faith in decibel and volume that would have earned Soros-sized scorn, and Kos-site mockery - were the party to actually let them demonstrate any of it.’ –Kevin McCullough

Mr. McCullough you are implying that liberals are deceptive in the way they campaign.

‘But in doing so, they tricked the masses into believing that their positions on such matters would stand as strong as the true-believers that some of them displaced.’ – Kevin McCullough

No, you are telling the truth. They are full of deceit and dare not run without a conservative mask to hide behind.

Thank you for not pretending to make nice with those who would move America closer to a socialist state. The American left is more afraid of a Christian theocracy than they are of the threat of militant Islam. They would accuse the Founders of establishing a Christian theocracy. How many ‘conservatives’ in our day want a return to what the Founders gave us? Some want the ideology apart from the foundation in Biblical Theology. Without a solid footing it cannot stand.

Modern liberals disparage Christianity because it is the nearest threat to their political power. The cultural warfare has to do with influencing the way men think. Liberals have a huge advantage in this war. They easily justify deception to achieve their goals, and their policies appeal to the fallen nature of man…

The apostle instructs all believers concerning the proper attitude toward spiritual warfare. We can apply his words to the cultural warfare.

‘For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ’ [II Corinthians 10:3-5].

We encourage you in the warfare.

PS Kimberly and Brian R
Dems didn't win their seats by any landslides..we were right up your tails until the very end which shows that come the 2008 election your narrow defeats will be in jepardy!

ValiantForTruth
How right you are. The liberal socialist secular progressives can't throw off the armour of God's Army.

Skip
I blame John McCain, Lindsay Graham et al for the loss more than Bush.

Harry Reid's investigations
Harry Reid has already showed his true colors and admitted that investigations will commence in January already.

The only good I see coming from that incoming mess is that the citizens will see what a feckless rat Reid is. He has his own scandals, and HE is going to investigate the administration? Reid has to be worried how this will look to his political carrier -- the obstructionist tactics on judges is what did his friend and collegue Tom Daschle in.

If he doesn't see, he will become another Daschle.

Concerned
I assume you are a newbie here at TH?

While I too am missing BrianR's points, I encourage you to visit his blog (click on his name).

You will find that your assumption that he is a liberal socialist off by 180 degrees. BrianR is a solid conservative whose opinions are normally supported by the vast majority of conservative posters on Town Hall.

However, you DO have Kimberly pegged! She is our resident voice of liberalism. She is articulate and sometimes sarcastic and can dish it out with the best of them. Many of us hope she will someday see the light and abandon the "Dark Side"! :-)

response to rightmindedmom
rightmindedmom said "Harry Reid has already showed his true colors and admitted that investigations will commence in January already."

Phylo: I am amazed at how many Republicans are saying things like this. You people seem to be genuinely horrified that the Dems will actually perform their oversight responsibilities and do some investigating into whether or not the pre-war intelligence was manipulated, and into some of those sweetheart deals doled out to contractors.

My question is: What exactly are you people afraid of? Are you afraid that they might actually uncover some serious lying and corruption?

And if you are concerned about that, why in God's name would you be upset about it? Wouldn't that be a good thing?

Or is it that you people are okay with lying and corruption as long as it's done by conservatives?

Phylo out.

Useful Idiots
I think McCullough is pretty much on the mark, especially in his analysis that the new Dems may have campaigned as conservative but unless they want to wake up with a horses head in their beds they better toe the party line. To anyone who believes Pelosi's blather about bipartisanship, I have some beatiful ocean front property to sell you in Montana.

Where I feel conservatives are in real trouble in this country is where the leftists have managed to equate conservative with the radical, crazy, religious right. And they have managed to define the radical, crazy, religious right as anyone who goes to church on occasion and believes that God's laws have some validity in a person's life. The removal of God from the public square is no accident and no isolated incident. It is a stepping stone to making God and anyone who believes in Him the object of ridicule. Because in order to pursue their radical agenda of total government control of every facet of life (because they know so much better than we, or even God, what people need to be happy and fulfilled), they need to eliminate any belief system that offers a higher power than government.

To that end, you can expect over the next couple of years increasing militancy and vitriol from some of the left's leading constituencies. On occasion, as a know your enemy kind of exercise, I watch a few channels that are radical left. I won't give the networks because they aren't going to get any publicity from me. They are promising even more radicalism now that they feel they have won the elections. The GLTB crowd is promising more confrontation with any group that proclaims Christian values. Enviromental groups are becoming increasing strident in their attacks on capitalism. I'm not a member of the tin-foil hat society; these are interviews with leftists that I have watched and heard and I have no doubt that their threats/promises are real. Their rants are terrifying to behold. Whether we want to fight defensively or offensively, we are rapidly approaching a point where anyone who loves America as the land of individual liberty, religious freedom, economic opportunity and equal justice will need to gird up for battle. It is coming whether we want it or not. The last election was a skirmish and we lost. The other side didn't win what they think they did, but we lost. We can't afford too many losses.

Welcome to my Whine
After 12 years of Democrat whining, now are we going to suffer 12 years of Republican whining?

Did your Mamas teach you the same thing the Mamas of the Democrats taught them -- that it's kicking and screaming, not working and saving, that gets you what you want?

Could somebody please send a message to Galt's Gulch and see if there is one single adult left in the world who can shout "STOP THIS TEMPER TANTRUM RIGHT NOW!" and get this ship righted before it runs on the rocks and everyone is lost?

Or do we have to wait for the Christmas Surprise: the next 9/11 attack on the USA that will send everyone fleeing for the exits, only to find them manned by people with machine guns?

Phylo
The thing about all the investigations is that they will deflect from serious work that needs to be done. There have been ifinite investigations already into the intelligence, sweetheart contracts, WMD and every time, even when it takes a while, the truth has exonerated the actions of the administration.

The Democrats, however, are willing to expend all of their resources pointing fingers at Republicans until the enemy sneaks in behind them. We've had Republican scandals and you will notice that we put them out of office and sometimes in jail. As opposed to the Democrats who circle the wagons and defend lawbreakers as long as there is a D next to their name.

This country has work to do. We can't afford to have the little kids whining while we do it.

my 2 cents
Can we PLEASE stop this pathetic whining and sniping?

The dems won, we lost. Get over it. (how many dems are reading this and other TH columns and laughing at us?)

Let's just get up off the floor, bind our wounds, shake hands and congratulate the victors, LEARN from our defeat and look toward 2008, keeping in mind that 60% OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS DIDN'T VOTE.

That is perhaps the aspect of this whole debacle that really irritates me - people - GOOD people - have been fighting and dying for 230+ years so we would have the opportunity to vote and 60% of us don't even give enough of a poo-poo to honor their sacrifice by voting. That is disgraceful and that is inexcusable - Use it or lose it.

Remember when they have had the opportunity to vote in Iraq? There were pictures of people waiting in line for hours - many of them under the threat of death - so they could vote. And 60% of us couldn't even muster up the wherewithal to VOTE. I repeat - that is disgraceful and that is inexcusable.

Many of us woke up in AMERICA Wednesday morning, found out all the bad news and immediately headed for the computer to register our analyses and whine with those who agreed with us and shout at those who disagreed with us over what it all means. (For those of us with gray hair and long memories - I'll skip the Mr. Natural reference here).

The dems got qhat they wanted and they have about 2 years to do something with it. And they know that we'll be watching them like hawks. It's a new age - the internet has changed EVERYTHING (Thanks Al Gore) and anyone who predicts where we'll be in 2 years is, well, I don't really know.

The future is interesting and more than a bit scary and even the dems woke up in America this a.m. so let's just relax, (have you been to church yet?) watch a football game or two, thank God for this wonderful country (that we share with the dems) and then start making plans for next Saturday when Ohio State whips Michigan and then the Saturday after when Notre Dame whips Southern Cal.

Then we can get back to the important stuff.

my work here is done

Mr Right is wrong
Mr. Right, I wonder, are you aware of the fact that the one group of people who were actually doing some oversight, and actually found some serious wrong-doing was defunded by the Republican congress just a few weeks ago?

Read the NYTimes story today if you aren't familiar with it. It's really quite shocking, and every educated citizen should know about it.

Also, are you aware that the only investigation that was ever specifically charged with looking into whether or not the pre-war intelligence was manipulated by the White House (phase II of the Senate Intelligence Committee report) has never been released, even though it was supposed to have been released in the summer of "04?

Are you really so foolish as to believe that the Republicans have been holding back the release of this report because it exonerates the White House?

The fact is, more than half of the people in this country believe that we were lied into this war. Nothing is dividing this country more than this single issue. And if we're ever going to be united as a country again, we must get to the bottom of it. For the good of t country, the investigations must go forward.

And frankly, you people should want them to go forward. If you really believe your own rhetoric than you must believe that the investigations will exonerate Bush and Co.

I'm concerned, however, that too many of you on the right are secretly worried that the investigations will uncover a lot of uncomfortable truths for you to reckon with, and you'd just rather not deal with it; you want to just wish it all away.

So much for the party of personal responsibility and accountability.

Phylo out

Blue Dog - Red Dog: A Dog is a Dog

They all are our dogs to train 'while in office'. If they don't learn to serve the people 'while in office' then 'we the people' vote the incumbents out in the PRIMARIES. The Democrats who do not serve me should be thrown out.

We need term limits anyway. Democrat or Republican does not matter. The politicians will not budge on this issue. The gravy train is too enticing.

On every election year evenly divisible by 4 (presidential years) Conservative voters whose age is divisible by 2 (even numbers) grab a Democratic primary ballot and votes the incumbents out. On the off years, Conservative voters whose age is an odd number, does the 'terming'.

We Conservatives force the 'terming' on the Democrats, leave it up to the Liberals to force the 'terming' on the Republicans.

On election day we all vote the party that serves our values.

PSF

I remember the Nixon impeachment hearings, Congress so busy tryint to lynch Nixon, that nothing else was getting done.

That's what some of the posters are concerned about.

And yes Hastert was wrong to defend William "Icebox" Jefferson (D-La). Throw out the crimnals no matter what party!

I only hope that those who said they were pro-gun, pro-life, pro-business will be true to their words.

sham Investigations
I doubt that the upcoming Dem circus acts will be anything near real investigations. They will be Roman Circuses for the base.

I expect to hear more speeches meant for the home folks than serious or intelligent questions. Also I expect most quesions from the left will be aimed at a preconceived notion.

And don't forget to limit the time frame to include only the Bush years. Especiall if the privious administration was involved in it also.

For example, if memory serves me, there are only a few companies in the U.S. that can do what Haliburton did for the military and during the Clinton administration it was authorized to award contracts directly to these companies.

Phylo
You are wasting your time in citing the NYT as a souce in backing your thoughts. Don't you know that we don't believe anything in he NYT?

The GOPs idea of an "investigation"
Below is a timeline of Senator Pat Roberts efforts to delay the release of phase II of the Senate Intelligence Committee report which was specifically tasked with investigating whether or not the White House manipulated pre-war intelligence.

They are all quotes by Mr. Roberts himself.

I'd love to see some of you Bush loyalists try to defend this.

(Yes, it's along post, but you don't have to read every word to get the jist of it.)

Roberts Attempted To Absolve White House From Prewar Intelligence Blame In Phase I Report. Roberts defended Tenet and the President on Meet the Press: “Well, we have a situation where the DCI, George Tenet - and it’s very easy to go back and pick out a certain statement. Of course, his most famous one is ‘slam dunk.’ There isn’t any slam dunk in intelligence. You don’t bat, you know, 1,000 percent. I mean, you’re lucky if you bat, you know, 500 percent. The information that was provided to the president and to the Congress that led to the same kind of assertive comments that the same critics are now blaming the president for was flawed. What he said is what he got, and what he got was wrong, and I think he was right to challenge it at the time.” [Meet the Press, 7/11/04]

July 2004: Roberts Called Phase II A ‘Priority.’ “It is a priority. I made my commitment and it will get done.” [UPI, 7/9/04]

Roberts Claimed Phase II Was ‘Ongoing,’ But Would Not Be Released Before Election. Roberts said that Phase II was “ongoing right now,” but it would be impossible to finish the report before the November election. “I don’t know if we can get it done before the election,” Roberts said. “It is more important to get it right. Understand, too, that it is going to an independent commission after we get our work done. So we haven’t heard the end of this by any means.” [Meet the Press, 7/11/04]

March 2005: Roberts Said Phase II Too Difficult, Placed On ‘Back-Burner.’ “[Phase II] got to be a problem in regard to a subjective point of view. If you ask any member of the administration, ‘Why did you make that declarative statement?’ … basically, the bottom line is, they believed the intelligence and the intelligence was wrong. In addition, we were in an even-numbered year and you know what that means. So…we sort of came to a crossroads and that is basically on the back burner.” [UPI, 3/10/05]

Roberts Called Phase II ‘A Monumental Waste Of Time.’ Roberts blew off the second phase of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on Iraq prewar intelligence, claiming the Silberman-Robb Commission covered the same ground as Phase II: “I don’t think there should be any doubt that we have now heard it all regarding prewar intelligence. I think that it would be a monumental waste of time to replow this ground any further.” But the Silberman-Robb Commission never investigated Phase II’s main charge - how policymakers used prewar intelligence. [U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, 3/31/05; Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction, Report to the President, 3/31/05]

Roberts Refused To Conduct Phase II After Election. “To go though that exercise, it seems to me, in a post-election environment - we didn’t see how we could do that and achieve any possible progress. I think everybody pretty well gets it.” [U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, 3/31/05]

April 2005: Roberts Continued to Stall Phase II, Said Other Matters Were More Important. “I’m perfectly willing to do it, and that’s what we agreed to do, and that door is still open. And I don’t want to quarrel with Jay, because we both agreed that we would get it done. But we do have–we have Ambassador Negroponte next week, we have General Mike Hayden next week. We have other hot-spot hearings or other things going on that are very important.” [Meet the Press, 4/10/05]

Roberts Promised To Make Phase II Public. “Tim, we’re going to do that. I will bring [Phase II] here.” [Meet the Press, 4/10/05]

July 2005: Roberts Backed Out Of Pledge To Make Phase II Public. “When the Committee has completed its work on phase II, we will determine the form in which the Committee will express its findings and whether it will be possible or prudent to release them publicly.” [Letter, 7/20/05]

November 2005: Reid Forced Senate Into Closed-Door Session. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) forced the Senate into a rare closed-door session, threatening to delay legislative action until the Intelligence Committee followed through on its planned investigation of prewar Iraq intelligence failures. Reid said the leadership in Congress had “repeatedly chosen to protect the Republican administration rather than get to the bottom of what happened and why.” [CNN, 11/1/05]

Roberts Backtracked Again, Claimed Phase II ‘Ongoing.’ “Well, there’s been a lot of talk about Phase II. What is Phase II? Why has it been delayed, if in fact it has been delayed? … It isn’t like it’s been delayed. As a matter of fact, it’s been ongoing. As a matter of fact, we have been doing our work on Phase II.” [Senate Floor Speech, 11/1/05]

Roberts Dismissed Need To Examine Administration’s Use Of Prewar Intelligence. “There’s a part of me that says if you look in the rearview mirror, there’s a little crack in regards to partisan lines, and figure out what somebody said two or three years ago, and was it justified by intelligence. I don’t know the relevancy of that.” [CNN, 11/1/05]

Roberts Promised To Finish Phase II. “We have several working drafts that we will get to members as of this week that we have been working on for a considerable amount of time. We’ve been working on that. We will finish it. We had it scheduled for this week. There was no need for the Senate to all of a sudden pop in to an executive session or a closed session and then demand action when we were going to do it anyway.” [Face the Nation, 11/6/05]

Roberts Offered Excuses For The Administration. Roberts agreed that there “may be a concern to some extent” about the White House’s claim that Congress saw the same intelligence as the administration in the run-up to the war. But he offered caveats for the White House, claiming “we had the same information on the aluminum tubes at the time we went to war as the time that we took another look and said, whoa, wait a minute, this isn’t adding up.” Roberts was wrong. The New York Times explained that of the 15 tube assessments sent to Congress, “not one of them” informed readers that experts within the Energy Department believed the tubes could not be used to reconstitute a nuclear weapons program. [Fox News, 11/13/05; New York Times, 10/3/04]

Roberts Failed To Conduct A Thorough Phase II Investigation. In a Nov. 2005 letter to Sens. Bill Frist (R-TN) and Harry Reid (D-NV), three members of the Senate Intelligence Committee wrote that Roberts refused to pursue “additional interviews and documents” needed to fully answer the “critical questions surrounding the use of intelligence in the months leading up to the war.” [11/14/05]

Roberts Missed Deadline for ‘Statements’ Portion of Phase II Report. Roberts promised to complete a draft “statements” section of the Phase II investigation into manipulated pre-war intelligence by April 5. But the American Prospect blog reported in late April: “You’ll no doubt be surprised to hear this, but guess what: It didn’t happen. Wendy Morigi, a spokesperson for Senator Jay Rockefeller, the committee’s ranking Democrat, acknowledged…that committee members hadn’t yet received the draft.” [Roberts Press Release, 3/14/06; American Prospect blog, 4/27/06]

April 2006: Roberts Sought to Further Divide and Delay Inquiry. The Hill reported that Roberts wanted “to divide his panel’s inquiry into the Bush administration’s handling of Iraq-related intelligence into two parts, a move that would push off its most politically controversial elements to a later time. … Left unfinished would be a report on whether public statements and testimony about Iraq by senior U.S. government officials were substantiated by available intelligence information.” [The Hill, 4/25/06]

Phase II Report Delayed Until After 2006 Midterm Elections. CQ reported: “A Senate panel investigation into the use of intelligence leading up the the Iraq war remains in limbo after almost three years of politically charged clashes over the content and conclusions of the inquiry.” Roberts “set still more deadlines… for finalizing some of the work despite those differences.” Under the new deadlines, the report will have “virtually no chance of being completed before the fall elections.” [CQ, 7/11/06]

What a weasle.

Phylo out.

Mr Right is right
Phylo: You are going back to "Bush lied"? That Leftist lie has been refuted over and over. Why do you still cling to it? Why do you want to rehash same ol' same-o? That is why investigations are a waste of time. The facts have always been clear and the Left has always ignored the facts they don't like.

When confonted with the truth, the Left ALWAYS turns up the volume or changes the subject.

GOP: No one wants to use govt to promote religion. The fact is that our country was founded upon SELF-EVIDENT TRUTHS. (Let that linger a while and try to think: Just what does that mean?)

The foundation of the USA is a PHILOSOPHY that all men were CREATED and our rights come from our CREATOR. Govt is instituted to secure the rights ALREADY GIVEN US BY OUR CREATOR. (Think about that premise for a while. Let it sink in. Our founders called it a self evident truth and today Leftists don't even know what it means.)

Gosh, folks, this is Civics 101. Is that not taught any more in our nation's Colleges of Leftist Knowledge?

Chin up. Speak the truth in love. Take what we can get and soldier on.

Love to all.

I had to pass this along.
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much inAmerica, he said:

"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in ... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1. Jesus Christ

2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Phylo and Kimberly
Again, Your party did win...and I am over all of that..and we should be looking forward. But you two refuse to see the facts.

Mr. Right stated: "The Democrats, however, are willing to expend all of their resources pointing fingers at Republicans until the enemy sneaks in behind them. We've had Republican scandals and you will notice that we put them out of office and sometimes in jail. As opposed to the Democrats who circle the wagons and defend lawbreakers as long as there is a D next to their name." Good old Harry is a as dirty as any of the reps involved in corruption, and he was out pointing the finger on Friday..."We want to show that we can make a bipartisan effort, because the Republican Party set a bad example..." Where DOES that get anybody?
I am stupid, I guess. It's too much to ask that we state what we believe and use facts to back it up and not spew Sh** back and forth about who is right or wrong. My Gram always said be tolerant when people think differently. She didn't have any advice for what to do when people were just blinded by what their perceived reality is. And that is what will get the Republicans another Victory in 2008.

Loco: "You are wasting your time in citing the NYT as a souce in backing your thoughts. Don't you know that we don't believe anything in he NYT?"

Phylo: Yeah, I do loco. Sadly, that's your biggest problem. You believe propagandists like McCullough, Limbaugh, Prager, and Medved rather than actual reporters.

I suppose you still believe that everything's going well in Iraq, but that the "liberal media" isn't covering all of the good we're doing over there, right?

I suppose you thought the Republicans had a good shot at winning this election too because the "liberal media" was manilpulating the polling so as to demoralize the right wing base, right?

Wake up fool. The right wing propagandists are blowing smoke up your *ss.

Phylo out.

What really matters...
Yes, democrats won! Congratulations! By the way, Pelosi was not the only winner. Ayatolla Homeini (spiritual leader of a very peaceful and non-terrorist country - Iran) believes that this is a history for him, too.

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L10809201.htm

Dear democrates! When you are in power, please keep in mind: there are scarier beasts than Bush in the world! For example, people who call you 'satan' and are set on destroying both you and republicans. As hard as it is - make watching them and preventing their attacks on Amercians your priority!

OK, Phylo it's a long post, but
Instead of trying to defend political games between Roberts and Reid, here is a brief recap of the facts that we all remember: (I hate to go back to square one, but Phylo, really...)

Saddam lost Gulf War I. Part of his surrender terms involved no-fly zones and weapons programs. The UN found that he repeatedly violated the terms of his surrender.

He was a state sponsor of terrorism. After 9/11 -remember that?- we as a people decided to go on the offensive against all terrorists and sponsors of terrorists.

We used diplomatic means with Saddam until they were exhausted and still gave him six months notice to explain his wmd programs - remember 17 un resolutions?-

81 House Dems and 29 Senate Dems voted for the War, including Dem members of the respective Intelligence Committees.

We removed Saddam and gave the people of Iraq an opportunity for self government. 75 per cent of Iraqis risked death to vote the unity gov't in and their resolve is steady despite the insurgents and the whole anti-american world's best efforts to convince them to give up and let the bad guys win. It really is a loving act for millions of people and their future. Try to be compassionate and understanding towards them. ok?

The NY Times LIED about the "leaning toward chaos" chart.

Phylo
OK, to repeat myself: I'm not going to defend political games between Roberts and Reid.

But the bigger questio is why do you insist on assigning "blame" to universal, bi-partisan, worldwide faulty intelligence?

And if the intelligence that was once deemed reliable is now deemed faulty, how do we know which assessment is closer to reality? A slam dunk?

Love to all.

answer the question salt
Why has Roberts delayed the release of this report?

Phylo out.

Thanks, Salt
Good job, Salt...Also not to be forgotten (and I can be cut and paste Kimberly,if necessary) are the facts that Clinton, Kennedy, Albright,Kerry and others publicly stated that they knew Saddam had WMD's. Of course, when the Dems want to change their minds, it is supposed to be okay. In turn, though they voted on the resolutions, they got to say Bush lied and Iraq is one big Rat-f***. I hear nothing but great things from my friends who are there now. What is portrayed as negative by the MSM are daily challenges one has to confront in Iraq. Yes, we all know it could be done better, But I have heard more than once, if we leave, they will really be screwed.

Investigations
The problem with investigations is all they will find is validation of the arrogance and incompetence in the administration. The only risk the administration faced were charges of war crimes because it was illegal to violate the Geneva convention. The recent signed legislation made laws retroactive to protect these folks so that is fixed now.

The dems have no real reason to correct the extinction of the constitution through the suspension of habeas corpus because they would like to silence detractors by having them disappeared just like the Reps do.

Note that the Republicans likely won this election because every problem that arises in the next 2 years will be the democrats fault. The economy is doomed due to the destructive policies of the fed and the spending spree of the Reps but taking responsibility is not their strong suit. I have read that the slowdown in the economy is already being attributed to the dems because of poor consumer confidence. Blaming others has become the true mark of leadership in this country.

2008 will be a bigger blood bath than 2006. The potential winners in 2008 are the ones that maintain a low and critical profile.

What were the values of the left
Their values at present are the ACLU,gun control, abortion rights in other words the the old and defenceless(Margaret Sanger) and Socialism, pretty much anything against morals/God
What happened from their inception to the present?

I posted this a few day's ago,but felt it important that GOP read it since he does'nt want to learn history on his own, maybe this will force a little research.

"Amendment I
First Ammendment;
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

The federalist papers stated this quite clearly, that the Gov would not be allowed to create laws regarding church/religous rights to be infringed upon,or the establishment of a state church.
The Anti Federalist did'nt feel it was stated clearly enough,so it was included in a bill of rights.
Funny how a group that was so set on protecting religous freedom,is now so bent on destroying that freedom.
Oh'they the' (Antifederalists) later became the Democratic party."

GOP and Phlyo wrong again
Phylo, I'm sorry. I was too subtle. I will answer your question: "Why has Roberts delayed the release of this report?"

I don't know. Thank you. Now answer my questions:
"why do you insist on assigning "blame" to universal, bi-partisan, worldwide faulty intelligence?"

And "If the intelligence that was once deemed reliable is now deemed faulty, how do we know which assessment is closer to reality? A slam dunk?"

GOP, you said, "The self evident truths have been codified into applicable law called the bill of rights and the constitution "

Uh, sorry, wrong. The self-evident truths are that we get our rights from God and the govt is established to secure those rights. That is the PHILOSOPHY UNDERLYING our codes. Hard concept to understand, but i believe you can do it if you really try.

Love to all.

Phylo
Why don't you send Roberts a note or call him and ask him why he delayed the release of the report.

Everyone please stop talking to Phylo
Can't you see the guy is a kool-aid drinker? First clue, he thinks the NYT is written by "real" reporters. Sheesh. Second clue, he is still using the "Bush lied" mantra. Third clue, like all liberals, he is lecturing us on how America is to blame for Islamofascism. What an asshat. Quit debating him. You are only flattering him. Salt, you keep using rationality to debate someone who has none. Save your effort and your time. You were doing this yesterday with Songo. We got your point, so stop trying to "save" these guys from themselves. They don't want to be saved. They are drawn to the flame. Just wait a while and it will burn off their wings.

Going to church
Catch y'all later. Have fun and keep it civil, will ya'?

Love to all.

The Bush "lie"
Phylo and his minnions are so typical.

Okay Phylo.... since you are SO insistent people answer your DIRECT QUESTIONS. - how about answering one of mine:

Were Bill Clinton and the other Democrats lying in 1998 when they proclaimed that Saddam DID HAVE WMD and that regime change was the policy of the U.S.?

This is a simple "Yes" or "No" question. Can you answer it?

A Strange Crowd
This is my first time on Townhall, and after reading several postings, I'm surprised at how strange this crowd is.

The REAL reason the Dems won is because the average American is sick and tired of your- and the far left's- rhetoric. While the far left may wish to make America a socialist country, the people of Townhall.com would love to make America a fascist theocracy. Our options, Denmark or the Taliban. What's the difference?

Thank God American's have voted to end the ridiculous 50/50 split in this country by voting for a BALANCE of power. A Republican president, a more conservative Supreme Court, and a house and congress full of conservative Democrats. THAT, my strange extremist friends, is a TRUE representation of America... not left or right, but somewhere in the middle.

And guess what?

- Conservative Christians will maintain the right to be conservative christians, even if pro-Christian legistation is not passed. They'll be able to attend church as much as they want, they can still watch the non-offensive channels on TV and listen to Christian radio. They can read Christian books, and if they're unsatisfied with secular public schools, send their kids to Christian schools. They can choose to spend time exclusively with other Christians. America will continue to be a place where Christians can practice in peace... LIKE IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN.

And guess what else?

Secular Progressives will maintain the right to be non-Christian if they want. Gays, lesbians and transgender people can breath a sigh of relief and take solace in the fact that, for four more years at least, they and their families probably won't be politically lynched by the family values crowed (does anyone else see the irony in that?). Women who need an abortion won't have to get one in an illegal, unsafe environment. Etc.

I personally hope this country never looks like Denmark OR the Taliban... but instead continues to be a place where all of us (including those on the fringe such as the people of Townhall), have a right to the life they wish to create for themselves.

Politicians represent us. They don't DEFINE us.

Love from a fellow American,
Susan B

"Investigations"
Truthfully if we had government as small as it should be there would be little to investigate.

There is a struggle between two world views that is going on and talk about impeachments, and investigations is really out of line. Everyone thought Saddam had or was completing weapons of mass destruction, both R's and d's.

Note to demo's rule good or we will return to our winning ways and you will return to the "ashheap of history".

As I recall, you are pro-life. I'm hoping that giving our country back to the people includes the pre-born? In truth, all a democrat has to do is say that he/she is pro-life and he/she KNOWS the majority of America will vote for him/her. If they're using their "pro-life" tag to get elected, then they're also saying something very profound. They KNOW what America wants. If the dems KNOW that, why can't they honestly BE pro-life? They're not just a bunch of "users" are they?? Hmmm...... That would just be so hypocritical. Nah. They would never be hypocritical.....

“The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow.”—Bill Clinton in 1998

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.”—Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

If you only knew your history, you would know that what you just said, was purely Stupid!
The Federalist papers were an explaination/precursor to the Constitution.
They were published in NewYork news papers so people would understant the new Constitution.

Phase-II
FYI
A first draft of this report was given in Nov. 2005. Common sense shows, if you bothered to read the final report which issued Sept. 2006, that the people involved in the investigation read thousands of pages of documents and to coordinate all of that icluded some comittee voting on what was to be included. No points for being thorough...once again, focusing on the negative.

Working together - FINALLY...
How nice to see Kevin McCullough writing an article that pushes aside petty, bi-partisan politics, helping to spread a message of unity that the country is clearly looking for, it's so nice to see that he is taking this election like a man and working together to...

Oh, uhm - I must have been dreaming.

Carry on...

Let us reason together.
Mr. McCullough seems to fall prey to the same fallacy of thought as many fellow conservatives. When the panic-stricken screams from the right subside, maybe we will begin to realize that all is not lost.
Was it really bad for bluedogs to campaign as pro-life, anti-tax, and faith-friendly? They were elected on that stance! Was it better to continue on with the treachery of rinos? At least the country will see these new dems beaten into submission by their own leaders over the next 2 years. Check the block votes on CSPAN as they begin to roll in. There could be no greater effort on behalf of the true right!

This is a simple "Yes" or "No" question. Can you answer it?"

Phylo: The answer is no.

In 1998, Iraq did have some WMD and WMD capability. That's why Clinton authorized an operation called "Desert Fox". It was a bombing campaign that, over four days, rained 415 cruise missles onto suspected weapons facilities. David Kay later learned that those strikes all but decimated Saddams weapons capabilities.

You would know this if you had read the book FIASCO.

Nothing has really changed
Unfortunately, all Americans have really done at this point is to throw a few "speed bumps" in front of Bush and his Cabal's ongoing quest for total global war...and in the process...total dictatorial power So, in that sense, nothing has really changed.

In fact, the way our "Prevaricator in Chief" dumped Rumsfeld (AFTER the election vice before, when it might have kept one (or both) of the houses of Congress in Republican hands) speaks volumes about where he and his neocon handlers are still headed.

It is absolutely clear that they really don't care who runs Congress, because the plan is to ignore anything Congress does anyway. Mark my words; Bush's "signing statement" count is about to go sky high!

That’s probably because dictators don’t let simple things like laws passed by Congresses or Parliaments get in the way of their quest for total power. And Bush and his thugs have already shown us that they will stop at nothing to get it.

To wit: sending their FBI, CIA, NSA and Homeland Security goon squads to tap our phones without a warrant, strip search us at airports, sift through our electronic and other mail at will, monitor our Internet conversations and then throw those of us whom they (or their Homeland Security "thought police") somehow deem are "enemy combatants" into military (or other) jails in faraway lands without due process (let alone any hope of a fair trial!) all in the name of "protecting" the rest of us from an enemy that he…and his lies…helped create.

And the main reason Bush and his band of thugs rammed the "military tribunal" law through a sympathetic Congress (thereby effectively nullifying our country's signature on the Geneva Conventions) was to protect all their sorry rear ends from war crimes prosecution…in the United States…while he and his henchmen continue to trample all over our basic freedoms.

One faint glimmer of hope, however, is that it now appears many of Bush's Cabal (including Mr. Rumsfeld who is no longer covered under diplomatic immunity) will soon be brought up on long overdue war crimes charges under Germany's "no boundaries" laws in connection with their brutal torturing of prisoners of war in Guantanamo and Iraq. Somehow methinks Rummy and his goons won't be traveling outside the USA anytime soon.

No, all the American people did in this last election was to exchange one set of corrupt, self-serving politicians in Congress with another. And our "Dictator in Chief" will be just as hell bent on destroying our freedoms as he has been since his first day in office, except now; the Democrats have given him a "no impeachment" guarantee!

Sadly, our US Congress continues to stink like the "good 'ol boy country club" that it has always been. All the while we continue down the "lesser of two evils" path come election time, nothing will really change.

I couldn't quite make out your post. Are you saying they released phase II?

If so, you are mistaken.

If you're referring, however, to the small portion of the report that was leaked a few months back, you're right: That was the part of the report that said, definitively, that there were no ties between Saddam and al Queda.

Gee I wonder what the rest of the report might have to say.

PS, are you one of the knights who say "nee" of Monty Python fame?

GOP - Pro-life Solves What problems?

So,what problems do pro-abortionists solve? My philosophy is live and let live. That includes the 'pre-born'. According the The Declaration of Independence our Creator endows all people with certain unalienable rights that among these are life...

Why do you hate 'pre-born' people? You kill these people. Conservative dialog with the people that disagree with them. Big difference.

Same Sh*t, Different Day
The hard-wiring of people rarely ever changes.

Democrats have been and always will be, the party of charades, manipulation, facade, and self-indulgence.

The "face" of today is co-operation, but their true nature will reveal itself in time, they cannot help themselves, the "disease" that is their mind will itself seek out it's true nature and those that voted for them thinking it was a "new direction" are going to find themselves feeling angry and humiliated by the game that was played on them.

I've worked as a counselor long enough to know that idealogoy, once infused on the most minute cellular level, is almost impossible to re-program. The more you get, the more you want.

Wait and see.

CHRISTIANS NEED TO STAND FOR GOOD

CHRISTIANS NEED TO STAND FOR GOOD, NOT EVIL...
The whole world needs more good and less evil! But is there a practical definition that everyone can agree on and that lends itself to objective measurement. How about: GOOD is something that makes the many human lives better and no or few lives worse, while EVIL is something that makes many lives worse, and no or few lives better. Some obvious good in this world: Habitat for Humanity, St Jude’s Children Hospital, etc. Evil under this definition would include a considerable number of Hollywood movies and a lot of poison on TV.

If we measure George Bush’s actions by this definition with objective facts, our President does mostly evil: from the growing Iraq catastrophe to Katrina mismanagement/incompetence to “no child left behind” (children in extreme poverty up 20% since Bush took office) to the $3 trillion dollar tax giveaway to the rich. Particulars on the last item: SUPPLY-SIDE (trickle-down) economics is a bogus theory promoted by those who benefit from it. In a mature capitalist system, supply side never rules, it’s always the demand side of the equation that governs growth and well-being. Think about the 1930s Depression, General Motors had plenty of supply, but demand evaporated.

Previous U.S. recessions have been cured with only $200 billion in tax cuts targeted to the middle class, because the consumer (the great middle class) spends that tax cut and primes the economic pump. But George Bush has raised the debt that our children and grandchildren will have to pay from almost $6 trillion to almost $9 trillion for this current recovery, which is uniquely without wage gains, and which has shrunk the middle class that makes America strong and great.

Corporations (the supply side) are now loaded with cash, but there’s no place to spend it because they don’t see any demand. So many corporations are using that cash to buy back their stock -- WOW, isn’t supply side wonderful in how it fulfills America’s needs? As the rich-poor divide increases, we’re headed toward previous shining examples of trickle-down economics: South America of the recent past and feudalism in the Middle Ages (South America and feudalism also had no wage gains).

Furthermore, “TAXCUT AND SPEND” REPUBLICANS have absolutely no fiscal responsibility or accountability! The last time we had a balanced budget and pay-as-you-go legislation Bill Clinton was President and the Democrats instituted these Congressional controls. So much for Bush mythology on who has conservative values. And Bush’s supply-side economics has not conserved our nation’s economic future, but sold our kids and grandkids down the river!

Let me clarify
It was late last night and I found myself going hyperbolic. Sorry.

There's no sense at this point beating up on the newly-elected Dems who are conservative, nor in presumptively discounting their integrity. Give them a chance to prove whether or not they'll stand up for their principles. Don't forget, the Reagan coalition was formed with many Reagan Democrats. Democrat means one thing in the South, and something very different in the NE and both coasts.

This could well mean the Dems will have even more problems in trying to advance a radical agenda: Bush in the WH, razor-thin majorities, and internal dissension. Similar to the problems the Rep party had: remember the Gang of 14?

Are these ideas only appropriate for America?

Plan B?
Laughable when you consider we are STILL waiting for plan A from the Dems.

Stop your P&M about conservatives and start planning on what you liberals are really going to do about keeping my country secure and my loved ones safe. I know what I'll do about it if or should I say when you fail.

The accusations about incompetence and lack of accountability swing on both sides. Professional politicians are always self serving and it needs to be changed. The first step has been taken. Now it's in the Dems court. Get it right or get out.

When the Dems can show they have the best interests of us all in mind and are actually doing something about it then a reasonable discussion can take place.

Until then sit down, shut up and get busy running this country and produce a workable plan instead of throwing accusations at Republicans and name calling.

So far you haven't shown me anything except how utterly stupid you are.

But then you can take some comfort in the fact that al-Qeda agree's with the Dems. They too want to trash the White House and destroy America.

...should get on the band-wagon for the "morning after" pill. Make it available over the counter like buying vitamins.

Phylo
Hmmm... David Kay wrote a book that said Clinton's actions all but decimated Saddam's WMD capabilities? And that book is the end of the argument???

Did Bill Clinton forget to tell his wife about these successes? I mean, I know they don't talk with each other much, but don't you think Bill might have mentioned this to Hillary BEFORE she gave her Oct 10, '02 speech that "solar" so accurately points out in his/her 11:00AM post?

You know, Ann Coulter wrote a book about "Godless" liberals... is that the last word on THAT argument?

Phylo... your "selective" memory and "selective" sources and your delusions of evil-doing by Bush and his administration are really getting worn out.

And if you and other "progessive" posters on this site think the country veered left on Nov. 7th... well - just keep believing that! It will make '08 just that much easier for conservatives to restore order (again).

GOP

Pro-life for all intents and purposes means anti-abortion, although the activists that I have met are usually anti-euthanasia also.

If you could explain to me why pro-abortion activists call themselves 'pro-choice'. Are they afraid to say the 'A' word in public. Its just that usually they are the very people to oppose personal choice in, say, economic matters.

Donaldd....
... but when your neighbor starts placing bombs along your fenceline, sets up machine gun nests pointed at you and starts telling the world he's going to destroy you... I think it might be time to take some preventive measures, don't you?

Nah.... it is FAR better to let him fire a couple off first to make sure he really means it, right?

GOP
Pro Life to means "protecting" the rights of all as the Constitution declares and that includes the most vulnerable among us, the unborn. I suppose that would be the relationship politically.

Pro Life to me does mean anti abortion with reasonable exceptions, i.e. the health of the mother.

Is not protection of rights a "moral and political" issue in one? How would you separate the two?

GOP you said the following:
"We can talk endlessly about the evils in society in graphic detail, where is this going to take us?"
I am going to assume you mean the graphics of abortion. Perhaps that aspect needs to be talked about further. Perhaps it would be a good idea to show everyone exactly what an abortion looks like. Where would that get us? Perhaps it would enlighten some who believe abortion is acceptable to see how unacceptable it is when they actually are faced with seeing abortion.

Apparently it is acceptable in our society to see everything else so why not show an abortion on TV for all to see?

Where does any of this get us you ask? How about humanity, dignity of a life, respect for life?

If a nation does not respect the life of the most vulnerable among us who do not have a voice, what do we respect?

GOP

I think that you need to make a corrction to your last statement, it should read:

"The government are not here to make your moral decisions for you" (expect when it pertains to supreme court overruling of state rights on abortion and school prayer)

Right?

Good point!

Thou, Too, Sail on O'Ship of State....
And when the Democrats run you on the rocks,
They will blame the rocks.

Try this one, GOP
If you will indulge me, I would like to put Salt's dictum to the test once again: (When confonted with the truth, the Left ALWAYS turns up the volume or changes the subject.)

GOP said,"Why Clueless? Because they still don't know why they lost and they think that liberals are promoting God."

Actually, we do know why we lost. We lost because 5-10% of the moderate voting public voted for the Dem in their district (or state, for Senate). No big repudiation of Bush or GOP or family values or the religious right or anything.

We know that most Liberals want nothing to do with God. And we believe that God wants nothing to do with them. :) (it's a joke)

Love to all.

IMPEACH BUSH

.....Kevin...

.....President Bush is in violation of his Oath of Office to defend the borders of the United States by not directing the DOJ to enforce Immigration Laws... US CODE 8 SECTION 1325 AND US CODE 8 SECTION 1324....

.....send this comment to your Congressmen...we need to get Bush out of office before he does more harm to our country.....COLOSSUS

GOP
I am not speaking from the stance of any political party. I am speaking about my beliefs in the rights of all people.

I am referring to the bill of rights.

I suppose the notion of actually viewing an abortion has you stymied. You didn't comment on that. Viewing an abortion would probably change a lot of people's minds on how they feel about abortion. And, I won't be one to avoid the A word, abortion. Pro choice just tries to wrap abortion up into some pretty little non entity package. Let's call pro choice what it is: aborting a baby, killing a life.

Impeach Bush?

I re-iterate, you need a two-thirds Senate majority to impeach. This will not happen.

Therefore, perhaps, just perhaps, it is not a great idea for the legislature and executive to spend two years arguing with each other over impeachment proceedings which will never come to pass, especially when US forces are involved in a deadly struggle in Iraq.

GOP
"How much can you repeat the gory details of an abortion? who will listen to your disgusting repertoire?"

Why do you say "gory details" and "disgusting" if you believe abortion is ok?

OK, I'll try facts with Donaldd
Sorry for the long post but there WERE WMD's in Iraq and the UN Inspectors knew it.

David Kay's report 10-2-03:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/02/kay.report/

A few quotes:

"Iraq's WMD programs spanned more than two decades, involved thousands of people, billions of dollars, and were elaborately shielded by security and deception operations that continued even beyond the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom."...

"We need to recall that in the 1991-2003 period the intelligence community and the UN/IAEA inspectors had to draw conclusions as to the status of Iraq's WMD program in the face of incomplete, and often false, data supplied by Iraq or data collected either by UN/IAEA inspectors operating within the severe constraints that Iraqi security and deception actions imposed or by national intelligence collection systems with their own inherent limitations.

The result was that our understanding of the status of Iraq's WMD program was always bounded by large uncertainties and had to be heavily caveated. "...

"What have we found and what have we not found in the first 3 months of our work?

We have discovered dozens of WMD-related program activities and significant
