Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Senator Barack Obama misled African-Americans gathered for this week’s NAACP convention. He told a fib. He purposefully knew the truth yet decided for the gain of the political moment decided to lead astray the minds of those in attendance. What's scary is - he's so masterful at it.

The junior Senator from Illinois has achieved relative "rock star" status since his charismatic presentation at the Democratic convention in 2004. I have been predicting for three years now that Obama will most likely be part of the presidential ticket in 2008. He's got everything that democrats look for in a candidate, looks, charm, and the uncanny ability to distort truth like few have seen since William Jefferson Clinton. In fact Obama may be better at it than Clinton.

But as to his recent deception with the NAACP, he spoke with the typical charismatic demeanor he's become known for when he let loose, "Don't be bamboozled. Don't buy into it... It's great if he (President Bush) commits to signing it (the extension of the Voting Rights Act), but what is critical is the follow-through. You don't just talk the talk, but you also walk the walk."

His lie by implication is that there is at least an outside chance that President Bush would not sign the legislation (passed without amendments) the very minute it hits his desk.

But it is a lie that plays well in America's liberal black communities. It is also one of several. High profile African-Americans have been saying such non-sense since Bush first ran for office in 2000. It was this very same NAACP that ran a campaign ad that implied that Bush played a hand in the dragging death of James Byrd. It was this same NAACP's literature that spread the wildly false rumor in 2000 that Bush wanted to secretly install the death penalty for all young black offenders in the criminal justice system. It was the NAACP's Julian Bond who called the Bush administration the equivalent of the Taliban. And now it was Senator Barack Obama who implied that Bush wanted to take away the right of black people to cast a vote.

Shameful.

In my upcoming book, MUSCLEHEAD REVOLUTION, I spend considerable real estate delving into the history of the conservative and liberal parties and their association with race and equality. I draw upon the evidence of considerable historical documentation that should be the scorn of every race-baiter - especially if they belong to the Democratic Party.

In the chapter entitled, "All Men Are Created Equal - Except to Liberals," I spend several pages pointing out how it was the party of Barack Obama who took the rights of African Americans away from them. It was Barack Obama's party who according to the Congressional Record began the Ku Klux Klan, lynching of blacks, and intimidation to keep them from voting. It was the party of Barack Obama who in fact sought to remove the black man's right to vote following nearly a generation of freedom following the conclusion of the civil war.

By contrast it was the Republican Party that fought for the freedoms of blacks in Congress following the conclusion of the Civil War. State chapters of the Republican Party were started by blacks in most southern states. The first black congressional members, some of whom had been former slaves only months previous, were all Republican. Under Republican initiatives between 1875-1893 blacks had full and equal rights in every way following the civil rights movement of the 1960s.

But it was the Democrats who took these rights away in the early 1900's.

From 1896 to the early 1960's nearly every party platform the Republicans voted in had specific language banning all forms of lynching, and Klan violence. The Democrats have never mentioned the lynching started by their party in any party platform to this very day.

And in 1965 it was the Democrats who fought to get a "sunset provision" added to the Voting Rights Act; meaning that Democrats only wanted blacks to have the right to vote for a certain period of time. If they had truly believed that blacks were equal - fully equal - they should have never included such a provision.

This is part of what makes Barack Obama's willful misleading of the attendees to the NAACP so laughable, so sinister, and so evil. President Bush campaigned on the guarantee of renewing the Voting Rights Act, he argued to make it a permanent extension. And when the Congress passes it, he has promised to sign it into law.

Instead of implying otherwise Barack Obama should be in the Senate helping for the completion of the legislation and pushing for final vote. And instead of lying to proud African- Americans he should apologize for grotesque and unequal history his own party has exercised against people who have much darker skin than his milato hew.

And while he's at it - would Senator Obama be able to cough up an explanation for his willingness to assist in fundraising for former Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan - Robert Byrd?

It appears to me there is someone bamboozling black people, but his name is not George W. Bush.

Obama
Put this side by side with the article that ran about Sen. Obama last week. It talked about his religion and how he thinks some parts of religion are good, blah, blah, blah.
This guy is a phony and out only for himself and the furthering of his career. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.
Too bad you won't see anything in this article on any news outlet. Not even Fox. None of them has the guts to say anything against a black (or half black) politician. They fall all over themselves to be nice.
Hey, why is it when someone is half black and half white or other race they forget about the non-black half?
Like Halle Barry and Barak Obama.

I've often wondered how
long it will take the black people to wake up, and rid themselves of the leeches that cling to them. The likes of $harpton, Jack$on, Farrakhan and a long list of, both white and black, Democrats and Liberals. Who have grown rich by sucking the Life's Blood from the black culture. And now it looks like Obama is jumping on the bandwagon.

I guess Martin Luther Kings "I Had A Dream" has become meaningless in todays black culture.-- Except of course, when the list above evokes Kings name to use as a tool of persuasion.

Shame on yo' momma, Obama
For not teaching you to tell the truth.

So a Democrat gets caught pushing a falsehood to score a cheap shot. If this what a "rising star" looks like in the DNC, they deserve to be a permanent minority party. The guy is oily.

Pleeaassee
The democrats are going to put obama on the presidental ticket in what universe? Certainly NOT this one. They have NEVER had an African American high on the ticket, not that I ever heard of.

They may be smoozing him to get the votes, then BAM OBAMA.

Goshawk
We (blacks) are not the ones that elevate these guys to prominence and keep them there, that is a media function. Whenever something happens that blacks are involved in, like the Duke rape case, it is the media that runs out to stick a mic in front of $harpton and Jack$on (i like that, btw) and make it a point to ignore the real, local community leaders. We have no control over whom the media touts as 'leaders' in the black community, we just keep geting stuck with the media fixation on the right reverends!

As for Barak Obama, he's just another in along line of black politicians that will be used up by the Dems and tossed to the wayside as soon as he no longer has any usefulness to them, just like Kwiesi Mfume. What everyone needs to do is tell the truth about all liberals, black and white, and their true motivations. Take it from Stokely carmichael who once said, "What the liberal really wants is to bring about change which will not in any way endanger his position."

And to answer Beachmom, there are several reasons that when someone is half black, the half identified with is the black side. One reason is that for years society saw people, especially in the south, that had any readily traceable black ancestry as black and that has continued to be the case, I believe. And unfortunately in many cases when you have interracial couples that have children, the black families are a lot quicker to rcognize the relationship and to accept the white person into their families than the white families are. In my family, I have seen that (and the reverse) happen. And when it comes to celebrities like Halle Berry, Barak Obama and the like they look like black folks, they have all the same challenges that blacks face, so they identify with the blacks in their families more strongly than the whites. And black folks are quick to "claim" these people as our own so that we can have more positive role models than just atletes for our kids to look up to.

Re: Goshawk
I really can't say what the percentage is of blacks that have the same views of Je$$ie and Al, but the percentage of people that I am in contact with personally that feel this way is very high. Most black people, though won't put that information out there in public because they may feel like they're being disloyal. The thing is that a lot of blacks don't like the Je$$ie, Al, and Louie show but will not say so in front of or to many whites. A lot of us feel like to do o would show us to be without any collective unity, so we don't speak out about the charlatans that claim to speak for us. It's like the whole Bill Cosby situation; no one in the black community took much issue with what he said, but with the fact that he said it in public. Too many blacks, way too many, think that our problems should not be discused in public, because we are afraid it will make us look bad...but we will gladly say it to each other at the barbershop, the salon, at church, and have been saying it for years. I'm 34 and I've been hearing black folks complain about Je$$ie for a good 20 years, and about Al "Do" $harpton since the Tawanna Brawley hoax. The problem with these guys is that the media allows them, and aids them, in reinventing themselves and repackaging themselves as well. Once the media identifies them as the leaders, they are not willing to listen to the voices of any blacks that challenge that leadership. So, like I said before, we end up stuck with these clowns and crooks being elevated to positions of "leadership" in the community, at the expense of the locals that provide the real leadership. The real leaders aren't going to be interviewed by Anderson Cooper, Bill O'Reilly, et al because they are unknown and are usually more interested in finding solutions to local problems and challenges than in spewing the usual political talking points. And you know how the media operates, they are not now, nor ever will be interested in tekking the truth; they are interested in getting the best story available, and unfortunately the Unholy Troika get the news media headlines.

Animalgirl
I suppose that also goes for the Democrats who hold J. William Fulbright, an avowed segregationist, out as a great role model. And it includes their continued support and lionization of former Klan recruiter Robert Byrd. As for the use of "code words", states rights is only a code word to those that see conspiracies lurking everywhere. States rights are simply those rights that are supposed to be left to the states by the text of the Constitution for the states to decide how to handle. You know, things like abortion, private land use, educational funding, things like that.

As for Ronald Reagan going to "obscure" Philadelphia, Ms....that place has not been obscure since the Freedom Riders were murdered, there have been books and films about what happened there that have made that one of the least obscure places in the South.

And based on your faulty logic, since I have read some of the most some of the most outrageous things at some places like democrat underground.com and the Democrat Party still holds Kleagle Byrd out as a great leader, I am forced to conclude that not all Democrats are hate filled, anti-American, and racist MANY ARE!

And if there is soooo much racism evident here, why don't you just cancel your membership and stay away? No one is forcing you to read anything at all here, so if it is so obviously upsetting to your tender sensibilities, do us all a favor and stop trolling around here!

http://flagwaver.townhall.com

Also for Animalgirl
Here is what Ronald Reagan actually said in the speech you are trying to use to smear Republicans as racists:

"What we have to do is bring back the recognition that the people of this country can solve its problems. I still believe the answer to any problem lies with the people. I believe in state's rights and I believe in people doing as much as they can for themselves at the community level and at the private level. I believe we have distorted the balance of our government today by giving powers that were never intended to be given in the Constitution to that federal establishment."

And just so you know, Reagan was endorsed by noted civil rights activist Rev. Hosea Williams and by Martin Luther King Jr.'s successor at the SCLC Rev. Ralph David Abernathy.

That sure does proven hidden racism, huh?

Seems ..
Seems this is playing the "Bille Dee Williams" angle, make him pretty and smooth talking enough, and folks will buy the lie. But Black folks aren't dumb.

Having grown up in an inner city (Paterson, NJ), and having lived in another one for about 4 years, I can say that the two-edged sword of prejudice, for some, though becoming more dull, still runs deep.

Unless one has had the fortune of growing up,
and going to a, dare I say this misused word, 'diverse' school, one may not understand the reality that people are, basically, really all the same.

So many of the myths that are perpetuated and thrust upon black people, and even whites to some degree, are the fall out of a corrupt system and, indeed, as Flagwaver wisely pointed out, an extremely corrupt and bias media.

It is the media which almost never features GOOD stories about truths in race relations. It is the system which supports it that propagates lies about all races that all races must labor under, and certainly Black people. And it is the media which continues to, with blind and broad strokes, make it almost understandable, the defensiveness and boundaries erected by blacks and whites too. Almost..

The stereotypes run deep and are hardly every fully accuarate, let alone fair. I mean, did any White people die in Hurricane Katrina? ( Not trying to be insensitive..just asking..) Obviously, by the media's standards, one might not know..

My dear Husband, half Latin American, with a dark skinned mom, has seen and lived true prejudice too. People often judge too easily, and with an unjust measure. And, in all honestly, prejudice really can go both ways! (We have even seen Latin men blow off other Latin men because of the lightness of their skin!)

I simply cannot buy that anyone can be that hungry for cold hard cash to buy lies and sell them as if they are truth, especially considering his hardcore Liberal stances(More abortions in poor and black neighborhoods?!Pushin for gay this and that..)to seel out his racer. One might imagine such folks are working as if under some kind of threat.

Perhaps his new street name ought be:

"Obama, 'Jo Momma", in a most downcast kind of way.

But, maybe that's just the Paterson speaking in me :-)

But Don't Just..
But don't just go by my opinion on this..

The mind being, that some of us are just good for boosting comments ratings, but just amounts to being esteemed as nuts..

In any case, few of us really know anyone in this world, black, white, or, indifferent..

And it seems, increasingly, fortunate..

Is Obama getting pointers on lying from
America's Greatest Liar, Bill Clinton? If so, WATCH OUT, he'll feel your pain!

Don't Forget...
"Sheets" Byrd also dropped the "N" bomb a few years ago and was given a complete pass by the adoring media and the Black community. Imagine a Republican in a similar situation...

Regarding the gist of the article, my view is that in politcs, "what have you done for me lately" is the motto to go by. While the Civil War and the civil rights movement were certainly important, the real question is which party best addresses the needs of the Black community today. While isolated pockets of racism remain and will always remain, I believe that this battle has largely been fought and won--the Black community's problems can no longer be blamed on institutional racism. Eventually, Blacks will begin to recognize that conservative policy is in their best interest, including:
- School choice
- Family values and the protection of traditional marriage
- Economic policy that creates opportunity and jobs
- Protecting the right to worship God publicly
- Decreasing dependence on a "welfare plantation"
- A true color blind society, free from destructive racial quotas.

Democrats recognize that as this message eventually takes hold and a significant percentage of Black voters begin voting in their own best interest, their chances at ever regaining national political power will dwindle to zero. This is why they are pushing for open borders--they see illegal immigrant votes as their only salvation.

It seems pretty clear that what Obama meant by "follow-through" was not the actual signing of the extension (which of course the president would sign), but rather following through on the spirit of the law and making access to the vote equal across the board, regardless of race, class or whatever.

please disregard..
Please disregard my last comment, as it was not based on truth, god's truth. Thank you.

Ignorant or Disingenuous?
At first reading I thought the columnist showed huge
ignorance, but after re-reading I have decided it is
more likely that he is being disingenous.

The clue: Obama has the "uncanny ability to distort truth like few have seen since William Jefferson Clinton." If someone unaware of American history had read that statement, it would be a logical assumption that many presidents had gone inbetween the presidency of Clinton and the potential presidency of Obama. But of course only one president has been on the scene since Clinton, and that one president did a whole lot more than fib about his sex life. He lied to all of us with the consequence of the death of thousands of Iraqis and Americans - and who knows how much else to come.

Then McCullough goes on to state other "truths" which in
essence are not truths. DEMOCRATS started lynching
in the South, DEMOCRATS started the Ku Klux Klan, etc.
What is in a name! Does anyone for a minute think that the southern democrats of the post civil war were the same animal as the democrats of today. These former Republicans or Whigs or whatever they may have been became (called themselves) Democrats
for a very important reason. The Republicans had
freed the slaves, and these stellar guys did not want
to have anything to do with that party. And to be
frank, the change was also a response to the Carpet-
baggers who came down from the North to make profit on
their misery.

How many Skin Heads or secret Klansmen do you think
embody the principles of the democratic party today?
My educated guess is - Zilch. If they vote at all, they
vote for Republicans, or perhaps now Libertarians (an even crankier version of republicanism) or a few of the
remaining Democrats in the South who are really
Republicans in disguise.

As my dad used to say "A Southern Gentleman is often
not a gentleman and a Southern Democrat is rarely a
Democrat."

And just how many times does Byrd have to apologize or
acknowledge the error of his ways (he was out of there
by the 1950's) before he is forgiven.

If Obama is the most evil and sinister person we have
in Washington today, we are a very lucky nation indeed.

Lisa, it is you who is disingenuous
I realize that you are a liberal, and that by definition liberals are creatures of emotion and feelings, to whom logic has no meaning. You hate Bush, therefore you want him to be a liar, and you feel that he must be a liar, therefor he is. Whether or not he actually lied about anything is totally irrelevant. Since both Clinton and Gore were inveterate liars, it was particularly important to the Left to brand Bush with this label. But let's look at the facts:

1) Saddam's weapon stockpile was a known quantity, discovered by inspectors after Desert Storm and verified by his own internal documentation. Contrary to public perception, the weapons inspectors were not there on a scavenger hunt to find weapons; they were there to find definitive proof that the known stockpiles of weapons had been destroyed. Such proof was never forthcoming. For your theory of "Bush the liar" to be correct, Saddam would have had to have destroyed his weapons stockpile, but not told anyone so that he could remain under crippling economic sanctions. Further, one, and only one man in the world other than Saddam knew of this deception--George Bush. Makes plenty of sense, doesn't it?

2) Liberals like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy who had full access to the same intelligence reports that Bush had also stated that he had weapons. Were they, too, liars?

3) And before you trot out the old chestnut of "cherry picking intelligence," please inform us all how Bush convinced the Clinton administration to lie about the weapons in the late 90's? And while you're at it, let us know as well how he conned the French, British, Egyptian, Israeli, Russian, Chinese, Jordanian and other intelligence agencies, along with the UN, into lying as well?

So, ignoring for a moment all of the weapons that HAVE been discovered, or the Duelfer report stating that the Administration made no attempt to influence CIA intelligence and that Saddam was poised to renew his nuclear program the moment sanctions were removed, understand this: under the most likely scenario, that Saddam removed the weapons to Syria and Lebanon prior to our invasion, the fact that the weapons were no longer in Iraq does not make Bush a liar. Even if the weapons never existed, Bush was stating the truth as he and everyone else believed at the time. I know this is difficult for the logic-challenged mind to handle, so I'll finish with an appeal to feelings and emotion--if you had your way, Saddam's rape rooms, torture chambers, wood chippers and mass graves filled with hundreds of thousands would still be open for business. Is this truly what you want?

Then again..
Then again, I suppose we could all be very honest and simply call Democrats by their true name:
Basically, Observant Socialists. I mean, more or less..

To John Galt
I can't imagine a dumber response to my entry. You wrote
five paragraphs defending the honesty of Bush when even
numerous right-wingers realize by now that we were bam-
boozled. Bothering to defend Bush is like beating a dead
horse. My entry was about the honesty of McCullough,
the columnist. While he may not have flat out lied, he
is certainly not telling the truth, or he is very
ignorant of American history.

By the way, the first paragraph of your response to me
was a great indication of just how bright you are.
"By definition liberals are creatures of emotion and feelings, to whom logic has no meaning." I couldn't find
that definition in my dictionary. But I suppose if you
say it often enough you begin to believe it.

Well..
Well..

Those who marched for black's civil rights, which I mentioned above, did a very good thing, whatever their skin color was, nationality or political persuasion.

My point was, Liberal media often skews the sides people are on and almost deifies some, though they are, obviously, mere mortals. There is also often the suggestion that just one party mainly champions such important causes.

I have to wonder about questioning Mr. McCullough's honesty here though.

Were these readers aware that he has an adopted Haitian American son, with skin darker than most African Americans?

I have listened to Mr. McCullough’s radio show since its start in Greater New York, in the summer of 2003.

He doesn’t seem the kind of guy to talk about much anything unless he's really sure.

I know he can be kind of a stickler about that with others too, making sure their sources are accurate and correct.

I doubt he is more lenient with himself. Which is not to say he never makes errors, clearly, we are all human.

I am just wondering though. What possible motive could Mr. McCullough have in posting this story, his feedback, other than as a public service, and maybe even, more so, for the benefit of his son?

Doesn’t intelligent observation and a bit of balanced insight show that, at the very least, he would want to be as fair and accurate as possible on these topics, because he does have a very vested interest?

Wouldn’t it make sense that an issue so close to his heart and so important to his family and their well being would be one he might be especially careful about researching and presenting to the public?

It is often easy to come to grand stereotypes about people in power and the choices they make to champion and speak about. This one however, seems to be a no brainer, that just a small bit of pause and sensitivity can glean.

Whatever you think about political parties, please don’t loose the forest for the trees.

I have come to take most of what Mr. McCullough writes as, almost always, or very much so, as close as possible to fact. And when he’s thought of as wrong, he does not seem to shy from those who say so.

This said, I should think Mr. McCullough would be one of the first to find accurate feedback from on such featured stories, and not the last.
